Outdoor Activities
Odense Zoo, located in the charming city of Odense, Denmark, is a top attraction that offers a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts. Home to over 1,500 animals from more than 100 different species, this popular zoo provides an unforgettable adventure for visitors of all ages. With regular feeding times and special experiences such as overnight stays for families, it's no wonder why Odense Zoo has been named one of the best small zoos in Europe.
A beautiful park, very green, a great variety of animals. A lot of playing grounds for our child, so we could take breaks. We loved it here!
Wendelart Z — Google review
Really lovely place and well decorated. Loved the info boards and the cute decorations and themes everytime you went somewhere. You can tell the place/people working there really cares about their Animals and their environment ❤️
M H — Google review
A very nice zoo, where they take good care of their animals. Informative signs with a lot of fun facts. The biomes for the rainforest species and penguins are amazing, but bring a cardigan if you want to stay for feeding time in the latter, it's quite chilly (as it should be)!
Janneke D — Google review
Super nice zoo, the animals are well taken care of and they have a good time here. The park is nice to walk through, sometimes it is a little impossible to follow the main trail via the map. But that just makes the adventure more interesting. I am totally in love with the king penguins, they are so big! For me I feel that the enclosures could be a little bigger but I am not an expert after too course.
Jesse M — Google review
Really cozy place, animals are in a really good condition and have clean enclosures. I would recommend to buy a ticket online, so you don’t have to stand in the queue for tickets :)
Alicja M — Google review
Such an incredible zoo! There were so many animals to see and it was clear that they were really well looked after. One of the true highlights of Odense.
Coralie P — Google review
Beautiful zoo, the main route to follow is clear, plenty of food/drink stalls, and you had the possibility to walk in (or around) some animal area's to really get close to the animals.

Nestled just outside the bustling city center of Odense, The Funen Village, or Den Fynske Landsby, is a captivating open-air museum that transports visitors back to the 19th century. This enchanting destination features over 25 meticulously preserved half-timbered houses and historical buildings that reflect rural Danish life during Hans Christian Andersen's era. As you stroll through this picturesque village set against a stunning natural backdrop, you'll gain insight into the cultural and historical roots of Funen.
This an interesting place to see the older style architecture of Denmark developed as if a village and all contained in a relatively small area. The adjoining restaurant/cafe provides tasty food and drinks, so also worth a visit.
Mal J — Google review
I loved the experience specially as foreigner got to experience village style house of Europe and traditional construction of different times.
Karthika L — Google review
One of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had. The farm buildings are so full of cool things to see and learn about, I could go back many times. My only comment, and this is not a criticism by any means, is without historical interpreters - the places feels somewhat listless. Granted that takes staffing and money- both of which are hard to come by, but I’d say that this visit made my entire Denmark vacation worthwhile.
Syd M — Google review
A great experience, a small Danish Pompeii of the 1700-1800. Talk with the old people here and there, they really offer great gems on history and knowledge, I finally understood why old danish houses are done the way they were done. Great for kids also. Highly recommended for anyone doing an on the road holiday through Danemark.
Dario R — Google review
Great place to spend some time, nature, old houses and atmosphere. Food and drinks at then inn are great and ample parking available.

It's a cute museum which helps you get a better grip on what life was like on Funen some 150-200 years ago. Especially fun with children. I liked the spin they put on the experience relating things to sustainability and circularity.

Interesting to learn about the life of Danish gamers and villagers in the 19th century. Unfortunately no guides during the week and all tekst is in Danish. You can use the Useeum app for English explanation with every building

A nice way to explore the past. A relaxing atmosphere and super chill farm animals. It's a good way to experience nature and fresh air, see some super interesting old buildings and have some exercise. Lots of place to eat what one brings from home but I'm glad we forgot ours and experienced the restaurant inside

Hans Christian Andersen's Childhood Home is a half-timbered house that was once the residence of the famous fairytale author. The museum features recreated rooms and displays shoemaking tools, offering visitors a glimpse into Andersen's early life. Located in the picturesque town of Kerteminde, visitors can also explore its charming harbor, old fishing houses, and maritime museum. Nearby attractions include the historic Egeskov Castle with stunning gardens and the interactive exhibits at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum.
The ticket to visit the HCA childhood home is included if you visit the museum HCA House. It is a walking distance from each other, and it is nice to see his life story in the interactive museum and then get an opportunity to see the real house where he lived when was a child. It is a very tiny house with a beautiful garden, you can use one of the chairs and enjoy the garden for some time!
Filipa P — Google review
Nice museum to demonstrate the varioius background histrical stories accordingly around Andersen. Visitors and fancies shall soon catch the meaning the life and passion of Andersen in the way that majority of people know about. Such as most the fairy tales, fatasy, journey, love affairs, aspiration, glory, poor desperate childhood of his life and so on. The Childhood Home is well kept within museum, and amazingly arranged by all the built things about it inside of museum. That's why visitors impress how Andersen respectly regarded by Denish people. It's good place to hang around during the city tour. Either with family or without. Audio support also available while visit the museum. We spent apprax. 1 and half hour over there.
Angela M — Google review
We only visited the outside of it after dinner and drinks because we were nearby and curious, so I can't speak to the indoor experience but just seeing the outside was already neat and interesting so I'm sure going in only adds to that! We visited the HCA museum earlier in the day which was absolutely amazing and this was a nice little follow up, even in the middle of the night! Love the character and charm of the old building and the slanted door and walls were cool to see.
Olivia R — Google review
The H.C. Andersen Childhood Home in Odense is far more than a museum; it is a quiet, deeply moving tribute to one of literature’s most poetic souls. Nestled in the heart of this charming little Danish town, the humble cottage where Andersen spent his early years stands as a poignant reminder that greatness often begins in the most modest of places. The house is small, almost startling in its simplicity. Yet it once held a boy whose imagination soared far beyond the cramped rooms and threadbare comforts. His father, a poor shoemaker with the soul of a dreamer, read to him from Arabian Nights and instilled in him a sense of wonder. That spark would one day ignite stories that have touched millions. His mother, a hardworking washerwoman, struggled to keep the family afloat, and life here was marked by cold winters, hunger, and hardship. Andersen eventually left Odense to pursue a future in Copenhagen, and as he climbed the ranks of fame and literary recognition, he became increasingly estranged from his past. The boy who once walked barefoot through the streets of Odense would grow distant from his mother and half-sister, their lives bound to the poverty he had escaped, while his own path led to royal courts and literary salons. That emotional chasm, between the longing for belonging and the loneliness of becoming, echoes powerfully through his work. This small museum conveys all of that with quiet dignity. It does not glorify, it reflects. Through personal artifacts and well-curated exhibits, it offers a window into the emotional and social realities that shaped Andersen's voice. His tales, often dismissed as children’s stories, are in truth layered with sorrow, moral courage, and fragile hope. Whether it is the misunderstood Ugly Duckling, the tragic Little Match Girl, or the icy resilience of The Snow Queen, his works carry the lyrical pain of someone who knew what it meant to be unseen, unwanted, and yet still to dream. Odense itself is a delight: a town of cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and a gentle, storybook atmosphere that makes it easy to imagine the young Hans Christian wandering its alleys, collecting bits of life and longing to weave into tales. Visiting this house in such a town feels like stepping into one of his stories — not one of grand castles, but one of humble beginnings, quiet resilience, and enduring magic.

Very nice activity for both young and old! Suitable for kids 11 and 14! The gardens are beautiful, the restaurant a bit pricy but very nice. Veey friendly and helpful staff! The kids creativity zone was well maintained and great for digferemt ages!

Welcome! This space is a flawless recreation of Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home. It’s a powerful and poignant reminder that from these incredibly humble, confined walls, a great soul and an imagination that would one day enchant the world were born.
Chang-Chih S — Google review
Really small but fun to read some extra stories about his childhood. It only takes 20 minutes to go through the house (but it's a nice addition to the other museum).

Art Museum Brandts, located in Odense, is a cultural hub showcasing classical and contemporary art, photography, and film within a former textile factory. The museum offers an extensive overview of 250 years of Danish art history across its five floors. With ten new exhibitions annually, visitors can explore modern and classical art as well as pop culture images.
Very nice museum, I liked the permanent collection as the featured exhibitions. I t has some women featured which is nice to know, beautiful graphic design and branding across the floors, great view from the windows and variety at the shop. I enjoyed my time and it was easy to go through it.
Zaira R — Google review
Nice, polite staff. Quality gift shop. Interesting exhibition (went to see one on sexuality: "Love, lyst, and freedom"). Location is well placed in the center of Odense with dining opportunities everywhere. Only reason for the fifth star missing is the size of the exhibitions. Brandts prefer a great deal of open space, which is beautifully set up, but with an interesting exhibition it's difficult for the visitor to "get enough".
Kimmie B — Google review
It is a cool art museum, though the enjoyment you will get depends on your appreciation of the temporary exhibitions. The permanent one, although fun is not very big. I enjoyed the closelings exhibition as well as the one on Jens Juel. The layout of the museum is modern and located within an interesting building. Entry is 75dkk for students.
Floris H — Google review
Wonderful museum but it’s shame that the shop offers barely anything that reflects the collections they have. I wish I could have brought home something small that reflects Danish art, not a generic postcard I can find anywhere.
D. G — Google review
Place has an interesting collection of paintings, but your enjoyment really hinges on the temporary exhibitions. In our experience, it was modern "art"—which, to be honest, I don’t think is art at all. The permanent collection is small but provides good insight and is nicely displayed. The building is easy to get around, and you won’t spend too much time looking at everything. It’s worth checking out if you’re in the area, but not essential unless the temporary exhibit matches your interests.
Fazil B — Google review
I enjoyed the exhibition featuring Belgium art & its political history. Main galleries had a good quality mix of historical, local and newer art. Enjoyable. Has a cafe.
Tammy O — Google review
This museum has an amazing variety of old and modern art. The entrance is expensive for over 10€ for students, but it's worth the art you'll see. From interactive over movies to traditional paintings there's a bunch to see on multiple floors. Even for kids they created various experiences! ☺️ The museum's shop has some cool gadgets as well and connected is a great concept of a coffee place which includes arts as well.

H. C. Andersen's House, located in Odense, Denmark, is a museum dedicated to the life and works of the renowned Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The museum offers a comprehensive and modern experience that provides insight into Andersen's extraordinary life, placing his achievements in historical context with engaging audiovisual material and unique exhibits. Visitors can explore the quaint surroundings of the former poor quarter where Andersen was born and immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the city.
This was indeed a magical experience. Please take your time to fully enjoy all of the unique exhibits that this museum has to offer. It's enjoyable for the entire family. There is also a nice bookstore on site. Pictures are nice, but the museum really is best enjoyed in person. It's not too far from Copenhagen either, and Odense has other things to see besides the museum. It was definitely worth the trip.

Truly magical and indeed very interactive experience. One of the best museum I have ever visited. The story telling, lighting, the ambience everything felt right into the place. I even had a chance to draw and make a silent book for myself which I believe is one of the unique souvenir that I could ever get. I could spent hours and hours without getting bored. I never thought visiting a museum could be this much interesting.
Mythri K — Google review
Loved it. Great experience for younger ones and still kept us parents interested. The place tells the story of the life of Hans Christian Anderson. Through the main part of the museum you can use these audio guidebooks which were great at also keeping our 4 and 6 year old engaged. The audio bits were easy to do and didn't last too long. Maybe a minute or two maximum for most (a complaint I have for other places like this is sometimes they drone on and on, but this was a great length and lots of them to do). At the end of the main museum there is this great bit which is more interactive for kids as well. After this there is the children's wonderland which had last of roleplay sections and a lot of great quality dress up stuff. And also they had a craft section as well. Staff were friendly throughout. My only complaint was there were no books in the shop I could see in English. Did seem to have other languages though. All in all great place to visit, particularly with kids.
James A — Google review
Probably the biggest tourist attraction in Odense, so definitely needs a visit. Well laid out, with a detailed history of his life first, followed by a wonderland of activities for the kids (thank God they didn't do this bit first otherwise you'd never get the kids round the rest of it!) Well curated, and the audio guide worked flawlessly. TBH I hadn't really heard of the fella, but still enjoyed a couple of hours here!
Li S — Google review
Welcome to H.C. Andersens Hus! The museum’s thoughtfully designed architecture provides a beautiful backdrop for its incredibly creative and immersive exhibitions. This is a truly remarkable journey that guides you through the entire extraordinary life of a literary giant, allowing us to deeply appreciate the genius behind his tales.
Chang-Chih S — Google review
Danish Author 'Hans Christian Andersen' was born in Odense 1805, and is best remembered for his literary fairy tales. He had moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, when he was barely 14, to seek employment as an actor. After being told that he sounded like 'being a good poet', Anderson started focusing on writing. Jonas Collin director of the Royal Theater, personally focused on ensuring that Anderson got serious education. His famous fairy tales include 'The Emperor's New Clothes', 'The Little Mermaid', 'The Nightingale', 'The Princess and the Pea', 'The Ugly Duckling', 'Thumbelina' etc. So much so, that his fascinating stories have inspired ballets, plays, and live-action films. I personally think that 'Sad is the life, which is devoid of furtive imagination, but which can become fruitful, after being a-lit by the lore's of Great Writers'. Since, my travels always leads me to the local Book shops, needless to add that I took the opportunity of rummaging through the racks full of his written works and chose a few to carry them home, to include them in my personal library and ensuring that those deprived of such wonderful fairy tales, will enjoy reading them at galore.
Neeru D — Google review
A very unique and special museum. We took the train from Copenhagen, and visiting this museum was a highlight of our day trip. They do a nice job of providing an engaging and informative experience that's not always common in museums. Would definitely recommend.
Jason W — Google review
This was one of the most incredible "museum" experiences. It was a creative journey through the imagination of the great mind of H. C. Andersen! So much time and effort has gone into each display, making it colourful, interactive, fun and interesting, all while telling the great story of his life. The audio guide is the most advanced I have personally used, and was done in a way to keep you captivated and moving along the building. A great experience for families and I highly recommend it.

Odense Cathedral, also known as St. Canute's Church, is a brick-built Gothic cathedral dating back to the 11th century. It was named after the Danish King Canute the Saint and rebuilt in the 1300s on the site of an earlier church destroyed by fires. The cathedral houses a magnificent altarpiece with over 300 carved figures created by Claus Berg in the 1500s.
St. Canute’s Church is a beautiful Gothic cathedral in Odense, Denmark, known for its striking architecture and historical significance as the burial place of King Canute. Peaceful and rich in history, it's a must-visit for history and architecture lovers.
Khalid K — Google review
It’s my first time seeing a cathedral openly display the “relics” (they are at basement). Odense Cathedral is a must visit place if you want to understand more about this city. I like how well-maintained and open it is.
Kate C — Google review
Odense Cathedral, also known as Saint Canute’s Cathedral (Skt. Knuds Kirke), is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or the legacy of Denmark’s medieval past. Located right in the heart of Odense, this imposing brick Gothic church is not just a place of worship but a profound symbol of the country's early Christian and royal heritage. The cathedral is named after King Canute IV, the patron saint of Denmark, who was murdered in 1086 in a nearby church during a rebellion. His remains, along with those of his brother Benedict, are entombed in the crypt, making this one of the most significant royal burial sites in the country. The architecture is stunning in its simplicity and harmony. Built primarily in the 13th century in the red brick Gothic style so typical of Danish churches, the cathedral offers soaring vaulted ceilings, beautiful stained-glass windows, and a serene, almost ascetic atmosphere. It's very different from the gold-laden cathedrals you might find in southern Europe — there's a distinct Northern dignity, simplicity and restraint here. One of the most remarkable features is the intricately carved 16th-century altarpiece by Claus Berg, a masterwork of late Gothic wood sculpture. It’s a treasure trove of detail, depicting scenes from the life of Christ and filled with symbolic figures and royal patrons — including King Hans and Queen Christine, who are also buried here. The cathedral is closely tied to the legacy of Hans Christian Andersen as well, who grew up in Odense. While he wasn’t directly involved with the church, the melancholy beauty and spiritual weight of the place seem to echo the tone of many of his fairy tales. In sum, Odense Cathedral is more than just a beautiful building — it’s a gateway into the soul of Denmark: a land of kings and saints, storytellers, Viking of old faith and deep-rooted tradition. Don’t miss it if you’re visiting the city.

Stunning Odense & the Hans Christian Andersen House/Museum No visit to Odense is complete without a visit to the Hans Christian Andersen Birthplace & Museum, its multimedia tour through the life of this famed author, story teller and poet is truly a must do when in Odense! This interactive tour is extremely well produced and gives a fairly complete inside into the man and his life! His works translated into 180 languages which include such blockbusters as The Little Mermaid, The Tin-soldier are globally recognised fairy tales, which many kids will know! (Just make sure your head phones are fully charged) Of course roaming around the main City Hall square and surrounds, as well as the 11th Century St. Canute’s Cathedral, build in honour of the Danish King by same name is part of our visitations to places of faith & worship at each destination! The first impressions of Odense are impactful and the stuff lifelong memories are made off! Beautiful and well maintained I went there in late morning on weekday and there were not many people I recommend to walk around and check out their garden at the back. It was green, clean and nice. There were a few benches suitable for sitting down and relaxing Entrance is free

This Cathedral is an enchanting place which I consider sacred as the meaning for espiritual people connected to God. It is an architectural master piece, considered the finest Gotic building in Denmark, consisting of a high nave with its bell tower, bricks built. The altarpiece has a magnificent carved work representing the pasion of Jesus Christ, I was lucky to see the back of it which has paintings of Adam and Eve and of the Holy Spirit among others (this area is not open to the public), and even you might listen to the pipe organ while visiting it, aditionally it brings the memory of Hans Christian Andersen as He was baptized in this place, you can find it at the right handside once getting in. The Entrance is free with also a smart gate in its facade, it is not usualy crowded!

We visited the cathedral located Odense while en route to Renders on the 9th May 2023 (Tuesday). The cathedral was built in 11th century and named after Dannish King Canute. It's interesting to know about King Canute and his adventure. Do make a visit while you are in Odense, which is more enriching apart visitng the shopping outlets.

Visitors can explore the ancient burial mound that houses the 1,000-year-old Ladby ship, believed to belong to a Viking king from around 925 AD. Inside this historical site, you’ll find not just remnants of the original vessel preserved beneath layers of earth but also a stunning reconstructed version visible in the nearby bay.
Nice museum, interactive, although my teenagers weren't that charmed by it (a bit to childish) , but they liked it anyway. Burial mounds and the Rune stone are very impressive.

Smaller, yet very impressive museum. The Ladby burial and the remains, or rather impression of the ship is a must see. It really showcases the archaeology of this important site with all its splendid.

The one and only Viking ship grave in Denmark An Important and ri h Viking barrier in his longboat with 11 horses and 4 dogs amongst other things. Amazing to see the old ship that is from around year 800-1000
Michael J — Google review
Nice little museum built around real viking ship burial site. The real remains are very impressive as well as the reconstructed ship, which is the main point of visiting. It is not much to show except the ship itself, but the story about it is very well told and nicely presented. Location is in the middle of nowhere, but getting there could be an adventure by itself and the area is very calm and picturesque.

Viking Age longship burial still in situ. Informative museum and unique burial site.
Tim ( — Google review
Beautiful Museum, especially if you are interested in Viking-Reenactment. You get to see the exhibits very close and you can see the determination of the Personnel by having a closer look at the props you can actually use. The Clothes are handsewn and at least partially handwoven. You also get to see the insides of an actual Burial-Site and a beautiful replica of the buried Ship. In addition you can have a look at some Buildings being build like 1000 Years ago. A short word about the employees: They were all super helpful and friendly. Definitely not our last visit here

Denmark’s only Viking ship grave: that's it. It depends on how much you rank this in your cultural needs and you can decide if you will visit or not this place. In our opinion, it was worth it. The original ship is preserved under the grass mound (in a fridge cell). The reconstructed one is just a few meters away. Aside info: you can picnic in the area once you have made tickets. Plenty of blackberries. Cost for three adults above 300kr. Discount for young people and students.

A truly unique experience. The only place where it is possible to see a ship burial preserved in situ. Also a small but very interesting exhibition including grave goods and full size recreation of the ship burial prior to its interment.

Mammas Pizzeria, located at Klaregade 4, 5000 Odense C, is a must-visit for Italian food lovers. Known for serving some of the best pizzas in town, Mammas offers an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Odense. The casual and charming atmosphere exudes Italian culture, creating a cozy experience for both lunch and dinner.
Very cute and warm place in the heard of Odense. Was a random find and we absolutely loved the pizza there. Very authentic and nice. Outdoor seating is not recommended because of the seagulls issue. Had a good experience here.

We wanted to try both the sandwich and the pizza, but you can't order and eat the sandwich inside the restaurant, you can only order it at butik section next to the restaurant, where you can't order the pizza!! We had to move around twice, first eat the sandwich, then come back and eat the pizza inside the restaurant, and it wasn't a fun experience for a par night. We chose Gorgonzola pizza and martadella sandwich. Quality of food was acceptable.
Negin — Google review
Great customer service! The staff was super friendly and kind. The wine was sweet and had a soft taste. The bruschettas were phenomenal. The lasagna and the pasta were extremely delicious. We ordered two desserts which were also super tasty. This was one of the best Italian restaurants we’ve visited in Denmark. It gives you a taste of Italy, far away from Italy. Definitely would recommend visiting. Would recommend booking a table online prior to visiting because the restaurant seems busy at all times.
Ivo G — Google review
While I appreciated the taste of the toppings and the juice, the pizza itself had some issues. The crust was exceptionally hard, almost impossible to cut. Additionally, there were several slightly burnt bubbles on the pizza base that lacked any topping. On a brighter note, the tiramisu was quite good. So if you like your pizza like that, this is going to be your favorite place!

Super busy but they worked hard to find us a table without a reservation. The pasta ravioli was flat and the sauce was watery. The spaghetti with prawns had no seasoning and was overcooked. Nestled in a historic building dating back to 1771, Restaurant Under Lindetræet is conveniently located near the Hans Christian Andersen House and the charming Funen Village. The cozy corner eatery offers a delightful dining experience with hospitable staff, beautifully set tables, and daily fresh bread. Serving up seasonal Italian- and French-inspired dishes using Danish ingredients, such as grilled redfish with boiled potatoes, this restaurant is a popular choice for brunch or lunch.
Stopped by before closing for a glass of wine, stayed for many while they closed up. Sat in the back garden under cover while it rained, then moved out front when the crowds were gone. One of the oldest building on the street, many dining rooms in & outside. Excellent and friendly service.

Absolutely fabulous evening. Food creations inspired by H.C. Anderson’s fairy tales (in our case ‘princess and the pea’) and wonderfully introduced with a pinch of humour by the waiter. The restaurant is just across H.C Anderson’s birthplace and museum in probably the most picturesque and historic street of Odense. Definitely recommended for a gastronomical night out.

Exceptionally good food, beautifully presented. We didn't have a reservation; they not only seated us but graciously accomodated my shellfish allergy with a delicious alternative to the whitefish plate. Picturesque setting in a 17th C house typical of early Odense. The amiable host took the time to answer all of our questions about the house and its history, as well as the food.

A classic tourist trap. Beautiful location, but the food was exceptionally poor. The quality was well below standard. We ordered the tenderloin, but it was very tough, lukewarm, and clearly frozen—not fresh. A real shame! The starter looked fancy but tasted very bland. Cafe Biografen is a culturally focused little cinema located in the neighborhood that also houses the cultural venue Magasinet. It was opened in 1983 and is known for its cozy and intimate atmosphere. The cinema offers a good menu with various choices, and the staff is accommodating to small changes. While it may be small, it provides a comfortable setting for movie-watching.
My group went here for an early brunch. We ordered at the bar and then food came fairly quickly after. I definitely enjoyed the Bogart brunch (especially the potato rosti), and appreciated the generous portion of bread that came with it. The only thing I didn't love was the smoked salmon mousse; the actual salmon pieces were good but fish-flavored mousse is just an odd texture for me, personally. But others in my group liked it, so it just depends on your preference. I also had the latte, which came with a tasty tiny biscotti. The decor was also very interesting to look at since it's connected to an Indie movie theater.

Nice climbing park, started a bit slow when there was only 1 who does everything from check in, prepare the safety equipments and group instruction, to preparing meal and drink for customer and the occasional helping people who stuck somewhere in the one of the challenges. But later came some extra help, so service went smoother. The challenges were really good, our kids managed to try almost everything, incl. The red bane which way higher and more challenging than the others. And when my son wanted to try the 17-meters free fall, he was so good and patience to explain everything and also when it took longer time for my son to finally dare to jump, he was still very patient and no pressure. Kudos to that. All in all, it was a great experience.

Jernalderlandsbyen Odins Odense is a small Viking village that offers a range of activities for both adults and children. Visitors can enjoy mead tasting, archery, and various craft activities. The village provides an educational experience with volunteers showcasing authentic building structures and traditional practices. From feeding sheep to grinding corn and playing old games, visitors can immerse themselves in the ancient way of life.
I took my kids to this amazing experience this past week, and it was such an educational experience. From the volunteers, to the building, and authenticity, we were blown away. We chose to “rent” the English basket, and immerse ourself in the village. From feeding the sheep carrots, to grinding our own corn, to playing the old games, weaving, learning from The Smiths, and enjoying the fire with the wise women in the Völva’s hut. It was all well done. Each and every volunteer was kind, they took time to talk and teach us the old ways. To learn about the Gods, the way of living, the sacrifices, and the village. We will truly remember this experience. THANK YOU to each and every one of you!

This is such a charming place to visit: the village itself is fun to wander around, there are games to be played outside and iron age houses to discover, but the main thing that left an impression were the kind people working there. Every one of the people we spoke was so friendly and willing to help, it made us feel very welcome. Do try their mede: it's amazing. Also: the activity basket was so much fun: we ground our own flour, made bracelets and played games. Unfortunately we couldn't stay for the bard festival the next day, something my boyfriend is still sad about.

A very interesting place. It is best to visit in good weather. Small Viking houses are similar to hobbit houses. 😁 Entrance for adults 60kr. For children 30kr.
Antonina K — Google review
The village is cosy and people living there were very friendly. Unfortunately there was nothing happening, no guidance with exception of a small map, and considering relatively expensive entrance fee for a few houses, I would recommend other villages on Fyn.
Olga Ø — Google review
The website states that there are volunteers giving demonstrations and explanations about the houses and trades. On our day all volunteers were gone (to give demonstrations on the city) and this was only told after we purchased the tickets. So with a map we could only view the houses (which were interesting) but then you are finished after an hour. And then the entrance is quite expensive. Would be nice to add information about the presence of volunteers so that visitors are given a choice.

Nestled in the heart of Odense, the Odense Concert Hall is a gem for music lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike. With its intimate 198-seat chamber hall renowned for exceptional acoustics, it stands out as one of Europe's premier venues for chamber music. The hall not only hosts captivating concerts but also serves as a versatile space for conferences and meetings, utilized by both academy staff and various cultural institutions.
It is a great concert hall with a professional, talented orchestra. It's not in every city you get this.
Sergey U — Google review
Great venue, central and easy to reach location. Friendly staff at the bar + only 35kr for a pilsner or classic beer, which I was pleasantly surprised about! Because Odeon and the Koncerthus are linked - it was not immediately apparent which building the concert was in, and there was no signage outside. We ended up asking someone in Odeon, who pointed us over to the correct place. Luckily the buildings are next to one another, but worth being aware of! Also naturally there are long queues, in the half time break, for the toilets, so can recommend going over to Odeon (next door) and using their facilities - straight in and out!

Odense Railway Station Center is a vibrant and well-organized transportation hub in the heart of Odense. The station boasts a variety of amenities, including food restaurants and stores, making it convenient for travelers. Visitors can easily access information about train schedules on the second floor. While some feel that the station is average and could improve its cleanliness, others appreciate its neatness and simplicity.
It is a nice place. In front of it you have a park with a castle/old house. The centrum is also nearby. On both sides of the railway station, you have a bus stand. Like all railway stations 7/11 is also available here. You have McDonald's as well. There is a tram station on one side.
Ankur K — Google review
A small station located in the heart of the city. It’s not too busy and offers a variety of conveniences, including an Espresso House, Joe & The Juice, and a few small restaurants, making it a great spot to grab a bite or drink while waiting for your train.
Eric L — Google review
Because of school i come here a lot. But this is a very average place. There are no public bathrooms wich make it difficult if you need one in a hurry and like me are too greedy to pay. At times i have had to walk onto a train that is staying at the station for a long time to go to the bathroom there. I will say the placement is excellent for the city and you wont need a bus to go most places in Odense. There is a nice variation of places for food but most of them are severely overpriced and not really worth it when you can just go a few hundred meters to get to a place thats cheaper better and less busy.

Really bad service after complaint over a regular coffee. They just give the biggest cup for the full price. After asking for a normal cup stronger coffe the lady just threw away the coffee. No restitution. So 17€ for water coffee. Positive is that the cake is oké.

If you're looking for a fantastic spot to take your kids, look no further than Flip Out Odense! This vibrant venue is a haven of excitement and adventure, perfect for children around the age of eight. With an array of thrilling activities designed to keep them entertained, it's truly an awesome place where fun knows no bounds. Whether they're bouncing on trampolines or exploring various attractions, kids will have a super time at this lively destination!
Best party they have attended in odense. The kids enjoyed so much
Jenilyn H — Google review
Only after you book a time slot and pay on the website are you told that you need to arrive 20 minutes early. It’s too late to be told this after you book and pay for a time slot! Some of the attractions listed require additional payment - the advertising is misleading as it doesn’t make this clear and is probably a breach of advertising regulations. For example, the driving games and bucking bronco require payment. In order to pay for the bucking bronco, you need to re-join the check-in queue … very frustrating if you only have a couple of hours there as you can easily wait 15-20 minutes in the queue to pay for it. The explanation given for the laser game was inadequate: the instructor could not even explain the sounds made by the the harness - does it mean you scored a hit or have been hit? - he had no idea. Food offered for purchase is expensive junk food, nothing healthy available. Expensive for what is offered. Parents have to pay to accompany children even though parents don’t use the facilities. Would not go again.
Ian M — Google review
It’s ok but not many activities for 4 year olds. The staff is friendly and accommodating. But it’s a bit pricey, especially considering that it’s not allowed to bring own food. Not everyone wants to buy fast food, so a bit more flexibility here would be good.

(Translated by Google) This is such a fantastic, fairytale-like place for children aged 1 to 12. Every detail is so beautiful. Costumes of the ugly duckling, princesses, emperors, bakers, and postmen…our children played here for two hours. Upstairs, the children could paint and be creative like real artists. They also performed their own fairytale with other children under supervision. So worth it. The only downside, I found, was that it was very dark in the area where they could play with the costumes. This was supposed to give it a fairytale feel, but I didn't find it very pleasant; the children weren't bothered by it.

The Danmarks Jernbanemuseum, also known as the Danish Railway Museum, is a must-visit for train enthusiasts. Located near Odense's main train station, it boasts an impressive collection of over 50 meticulously restored steam and diesel locomotives, carriages, model railways, and railway memorabilia. Notable exhibits include King Christian IX's royal carriage and a diverse range of engines and wagons dating from 1868 to 1981.

Trains that you can board on, detailed descriptions, amazing playground, mini train for kids and grownups, pretend play area with costumes upstairs, clean toilets and changing tables, vintage bus tour that takes us around the town, friendly helpful staff at the gift shop who patiently explained to me the characters and themes of each Danish picture book. Ticket gives you unlimited entries all day; we actually went back for another mini train ride. I can’t wait to come back again!

I really wouldn’t have thought so, but this is a great museum for people of all ages. We began our visit with a tour with the mini train that runs every hour. If you are an adult and visit without kids, I would still recommend that you take the train. It’s an experience in itself! The museum itself is vast. We arrived around midday and ran out of time when the museum closed at 16:00 o clock. I would try to arrive earlier next time to be able to see more of it. There are several sections that are very interesting - ferries for trains, the royal carriages, old steam engines. I would gladly come again. Kids can enter free of charge!
Ulrike J — Google review
A good mix of stuff for children and adults. I got there just as it opened and it was quiet and peaceful. My only feedback would be for more platforms to allow closer view of the steam engines, although I understand that it might be difficult with HSE concerns.

A beautiful museum. There's a lot to see and even a chance to board the trains. There's a wonderful puzzle at the end, which rounds off the visit nicely. Definitely plan a visit.

Just next to train station, good for family to visit. Train, ship , many models. Good to visit.

Very fun if you love trains. Kids and adults alike will love this place. The little train you can ride on certain hours was a lot of fun. You can enter most of the trains in the indoor area as well.

Outdoor Activities
Terrariet - Reptile Zoo is a charming place to spend around 60-90 minutes. The terrarium features well-designed enclosures showcasing a variety of reptiles, including rare and endangered species not commonly found in other zoos. It serves as an educational hub for disseminating knowledge about these creatures and their conservation. While the outdoor area is currently undergoing renovation, it offers a small playground for visitors.
Honestly one of the best reptile zoos I've ever went to, the enclosures were a 11/10 and I absolutely loved seeing so many rare species! Coming from a reptile keeper who's very tight on proper husbandry I absolutely recommend visiting here!

We were very lucky to get like a little private show of the naked mole-rats by one of the keepers. He put some tissue paper and soil into one of their tunnels and as they went to work right away, he told and showed us what they were doing, how their complex social structures work, and much more. I can completely unironically say that they are very interesting animals! The keeper was a very nice guy and so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about these animals. A delightful experience all around!

Small terrarium but with a lot of different animals. All in good and it's natural environment. Monkeys, chameleons, snakes, birds, lizards, spiders, frogs... Good souvenirs shop. Recommend!

A great place to spend time if you like reptiles, a great variety and beautiful natural enclosures

Lovely little reptile zoo. I was surprised with all the rare snake species. It was a treat to see. The place holds its own. Everything is clean and nice even down to the toilets. The staff are just amazing. They are so lovely and helpful. They make the place even better. The only thing to be aware of is that there is no cafeteria so bringing food is a must. All in all a very good experience!

Lovely place, great for families. Saw turtles, snakes, lizards and some very cute monkeys and birds running free over our heads! Nice to see a well maintained, looked like the animals were well taken care of. Really recommended, small enough to hold everyone’s attention.

The park Stige Ø in Odense is a must-see attraction that offers easy accessibility by car or bike. It provides an ideal place for both children and adults to enjoy a playful time, with opportunities for picnics on its abundant boards and fireplaces. The park also offers shelter accommodations for overnight stays and well-maintained toilets. Visitors are treated to magnificent sunsets while exploring paved roads suitable for cyclists or pedestrians.
I rode my bike from Odense to visit and it was less than 8km. It is a very accessible place and plenty of parking if you were to drive. There are many walking trails and also some hills! Good views all around. There are also mountain bike tracks and many areas to explore. You can go around the outskirts of the whole island without gaining elevation tho if you didn't want to. You can walk right out to the very tip which was cool. Also an area to have a picnic under a shelter and buy an icecream. There are also camping shelters around and some cute wharfs. Lovely place for some exploring and nature. :) 🌳

Must see, when you are in Odense. Easy accessible with car and bike. Place where kids and adults can have a play time. You can have a picnic here, there are plenty of boards and fireplaces. You could sleep here in one of the shelters. Toilets in great conditions. Magnificent sunsets. Map on every entrance to the island.

A wonderful place to visit, and spend a few hours and maybe get an ice cream. The half& half will placate all but the most voracious of eaters

Gorgeous place, feels the charm of the nature and I feel at peace here
Milos K — Google review
Paved roads that are fun for cyclists, or on foot. Small ice-cream stand, and hilly landscape with small art projects scattered around, as well as a parkour course, and playground. Has a small toilet near the ice-cream stand.

Parking close to the canal. Quiet. The area has many different facets to it.

Nice place to go with kids. Slightly overcrowded on weekends. Good for 1-2h walking trips.
