Park
Nature & Parks
Central Park, located at the corner of Boundary and Kingsway Ave, is a sprawling green space that serves as a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling cities of Vancouver and Burnaby. This urban oasis offers an array of activities including walking trails, a golf course, sports facilities, perennial gardens, and ponds where visitors can relax and observe ducks and geese. The park also features an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and an award-winning children's playground.
This spot is fantastic for a run or walk, offering a well-maintained path with plenty of things to explore. There's a tennis court for those looking to play, and during the warmer months, the outdoor swimming pool is a great option to cool off. Along the path, you'll also find exercise machines, perfect for a quick workout break. However, I wouldn’t recommend visiting alone at night, as the area doesn’t feel particularly safe after dark. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy during the day, but caution is advised when the sun goes down.

Central Park in Burnaby stands out as a serene oasis of natural beauty, brimming with attractions and activities for visitors of all ages. Enjoy a scenic stroll or jog along the trails, surrounded by towering trees that create a peaceful atmosphere. The picnic tables and chairs make it the perfect spot for gatherings with family and friends. Kids will have a blast at the playground, and the ponds teeming with geese and ducks provide an enjoyable experience for all. Without a doubt, Central Park in Burnaby is a must-visit destination.
Bernie — Google review
This place needs no introduction. Being a Burnaby boy it was so nice to visit after traveling for 2 years. Been to parks all over the world but this place has a special place for me when it comes to serenity. The air tho! My kiddos love it here!
Stanley Y — Google review
Central Park is such a good place to walk, alone or with friends. There are 2 ponds you can walk to through the trails that are really beautiful. However, I would not recommend coming here alone when it gets darker as some trails are very secluded. There are 2 bathrooms (1 near the stadium and one on the other side near the tennis courts).
Karan G — Google review
Nestled in the heart of the bustling city, Central park in Burnaby is a serene oasis of natural beauty. Unlike any other park in the city, it offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors of all ages and interests. You can enjoy a scenic stroll, jog, or bike ride along the long perimeter walkway that surrounds the park, or explore the trails that weave through the majestic old-growth forest. The towering trees, some of which are over a century old, create a stunning backdrop for the park and a habitat for many woodland animals. You might spot squirrels, chipmunks, and even coyotes in the foliage, but please refrain from feeding them as it can harm their health and behaviour. The park also features two ponds, each with its own aquatic life. The lower pond is home to ducks, geese, and gulls, while the upper pond hosts colourful carp fish that swim gracefully under the water. On summer weekends, you can catch a glimpse of the miniature RC boat show, a fun and entertaining spectacle for both kids and adults. The show is organized by the Burnaby Association of Marine Modelers, a group of enthusiasts who share their passion for remote-controlled boats. Central park in Burnaby is a wonderful place to visit, whether you are looking for recreation, relaxation, or education. It is a park like no other in the city.
Rafiqul H — Google review
Beautiful park located in the city of Burnaby, the trails are well maintained and easily accessible. There are 2 small ponds in the centre of the park as well as a playground, restrooms, tennis courts and a concession stand. The whole park took about an hour to walk around. Very peaceful and relaxing way to unwind, there's lots of wildlife running about.
Manizha A — Google review
Love this park. Great for all ages. Burnaby really keeps this park clean for all the community. Picnic tables, kids park, duck pond and outside pool ($) less 1 star because I wish there were more bathrooms. The one I know of is located beside variety playground. Good for kids under 6 years. Shady area and small splash pad for under 6.
Jacina J — Google review
Loved this place! Walking surrounded by the real rainforest is so magical. The tallest trees I've ever seen, sometimes probably over 30 meters! Plus several water ponds, many picnic tables, a soccer field stadium with covered seats on one side, a full size outdoor swimming pool, 12 tennis courts, a golf course, kids park, and lots of nature everywhere!

I had such a great experience visiting this place. 🥰 This place is very convenient, with several parking lots available, and it’s also super easy to get there by bus from Metrotown. To make it even better, admission was FREE. What I loved the most was how the museum gives you a true representation of how people used to live in the past, with beautiful preserved houses and important landmarks. This is also a perfect place to go for families, since there are plenty of fun activities for kids that make the visit enjoyable. The cafe is another highlight it has such a cozy atmosphere and offers a wide variety os pastries. This place is a gem, not only it’s budget friendly, but also offers a unique experience that’s fun, cultural, and relaxing. Definitely a must visit in Burnaby or even if you are a newcomer in Vancouver 🥰
Isabella D — Google review
I visited here a few times over the years and it has always been a fun and informative place to visit. One of the visits was to witness my uncle get married in the little church ⛪️ here. This time I came with my wife, son and daughter in law and their daughter. We all had a great time. There is lots of history here and you can take as much time as you want to check things out. There is parking lots but can be difficult to find parking at times. There is a restaurant on site. Public washrooms are available also.
Kirk D — Google review
Such a beautiful place. Historical heritage. I like that’s kind of museums where you can get in touch with the habitats of people more than 100 years ago. It is very interesting and attractive. The entrance was free and we spent more than an hour there. It is very nice historical place
Anna S — Google review
We had a fantastic visit to Burnaby Village Museum! The best part is that entry is completely free, making it a great spot for a budget-friendly outing. The carousel ride, priced at just $3, added a delightful touch of nostalgia and fun. The museum wasn't busy at all, so we had plenty of space to explore and enjoy the various exhibits and historic buildings. There are loads of interesting things to see and discover, making it an engaging experience for visitors of all ages. The small café offers refreshments and snacks, though I did find the prices to be a bit on the higher side. Overall, it’s a charming destination with lots of fun activities and a relaxed atmosphere—definitely worth a visit! Oh AND Free parking 🎉🫶🏻
M — Google review
Such a great experience for the family! Staff and volunteers are passionate about what they do and the exhibits are very well maintained. The carousel is a cool visit, but so are so many other things! From the streetcar to the blacksmith, the entire village is curated to make you feel like you’re visiting a time long ago. Free parking and easy access off the highway. I’ll definitely be back!
Shaun W — Google review
Always nice here. Little stuff changes here and there so it's not the same thing all the time. Just a great space to walk around and look at what it was like back in time. Wooden carousel ride is always nice (though lately I couldn't really ride anymore due to MVA injury, that being said, there are some injury friendly seats - just not as fun) and price is still fair. Always nice to grab a few cookies and soft serve with slush at the cafe too. Friendly staffs/ volunteers usually. But last visit was a little unwelcoming in some buildings. Usually don't have trouble finding parking spot here.
Pearobearo — Google review
We went in time for the satellite stages for Barnaby Blues and roots. We got some very interesting history lessons on how to make a tin can, what happened on railcars and how they stored their food back then. Don't skip the carousel ride, it was the highlight of the trip! Kids wanted to go again and again, and thankfully the ride tickets were very affordable. We will be back!

Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Japanese Canadians at the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby. This multifunctional complex features exhibits, a serene garden, and hosts various educational programs and events that celebrate Japanese-Canadian heritage. The museum is dedicated to promoting a better understanding of this culture among all Canadians. Visitors can explore engaging activities, workshops, language classes, and more while also enjoying the beautiful outdoor surroundings for festivals and photo opportunities at this vibrant community center.
Spring Bazaar 春のバサー - lots of excellent food, handcrafts, spring plants, and cultural experiences on a gorgeous weekend. Lineup for the Okinawa soba was long, and some food items sold out early at the others👍
S R — Google review
Excellent facilities! The school I work at has used the Nikkei for its graduation weekend ceremonies for many years. The hall is lovely and comfortable - the lobby is fabulous for hosting receptions with a large garden area perfect for photos. Momoko, their guest services manager delivers first class support. You won't be disappointed!
Gaileen W — Google review
The Nikkei Matsuri held every year at this cultural centre brings the Japanese community together, but it also welcomes anyone interested in participating. The activities here are planned in such a way that families with young children will have an area where they can play and win some prizes. However, all ages will find something attractive, as the program also includes music numbers (traditional and J-Pop), martial arts exhibitions, odori dances, and a long etc. Of course, one of the biggest draws is the possibility of trying different Japanese food options, sweet and savoury, or sipping sake from a variety of brewers, Or sipping a cold drink made with green tea in different combinations. Something for everyone!... Another highlight is the well-rounded selection of vendors offering jewelry, hand-made cards, kimono and other clothing items. The Nikkei Centre staff and volunteers do a very good job in terms of keeping this festival engaging, fun and interesting. On a warm summer day, this matsury is the place to be!
Octavio R — Google review
Thank you to Momoko and her team for supporting us in hosting our wedding reception at the Nikkei Cultural Centre in September 2025. We selected the Platinum Package, utilizing the main hall, lobby, IG room, and kitchen. We appreciate the kindness from the staff and their flexibility in allowing us to have any vendors we desired. There is so much you can do with this space and you can truly make your dream wedding come to life at this venue. Thank you for everything :)
Daniella A — Google review
Just came back from their summer matsuri festival. Tons of food and drinks. Enjoyed takoyaki and tornado potato. No Okinawa soba today?
Lister C — Google review
I was excited to visit a Japanese museum. It has nearly nothing to show during week days when no special events occur. If you are planning to learn about Japanese culture, don't waste the time, this is not the place..Some posted photos are nice looking, but this is a very small place, the garden is also super tiny.

The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (NNMCC) is a combined museum, cultural centre, and archive dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and heritage of Japanese Canadians. It’s located in the “Nikkei Place” complex in Burnaby, British Columbia. It opened in the year 2000, designed by Raymond & Jason Moriyama (with Ken Takeuchi as project architect), intended as a multi-use facility combining exhibition, archival, community and cultural space. Permanent & Rotating Exhibits: They have a permanent exhibit (“TAIKEN: Generations of Resilience”) that traces Japanese Canadian history, plus rotating galleries featuring art, culture, heritage stories. Archives & Collections: Extensive archival holdings: photographs, oral histories, textual records, moving image collections (8mm, 16mm, etc.), artifacts and personal items from Japanese Canadians. Japanese-Canadian Garden: A landscaped Japanese garden for reflection, calm, and nature juxtaposed to the museum’s exhibits. Community & Cultural Programming: Workshops, lectures, performances, festivals (e.g. Nikkei Matsuri), language classes, cultural arts. They hold regular events that bring living culture into the space. Multiple meeting / event rooms for rentals; barrier-free building (elevator, accessible restrooms, underground parking)

The Burnaby Art Gallery is a hub for contemporary and historical art exhibitions by artists from local to international levels. The gallery's current exhibition, Myth/, showcases artwork by senior secondary students who participated in the Artist Apprenticeship Program. It also collaborates with School District 41 to feature emerging talent from eight secondary schools across Burnaby in the Arts Alive 2018 exhibition. Additionally, it hosts diverse exhibits representing various techniques and practices, making each visit unique.
Free art gallery near Deer Park that is by donation. The art gallery is within a heritage building that and there are two floors to explore. Although it is not big, but there are interesting exhibits to look at and you can take upwards of 30 minutes to explore. The sun room is so pretty and has a great view of the lake. The fireplace also has really nice tiles laid out. The exhibits change once in a while so worth it to check back in again if you haven’t been. There is parking located on-site.
May Z — Google review
The Burnaby Art Gallery isn’t quite like the grand museums one might find in the centre of a big city. It doesn’t try to be. Instead, it offers something more intimate and more connected to everyday life here in Burnaby. Rather than distant masterpieces behind glass, it’s a place where local creativity is nurtured, especially among children. You get the sense it belongs to the community, and perhaps even more touchingly, that it cares for it. I first stepped through its doors on a school field trip with my child. I must say, I was instantly charmed by the setting: a beautiful old heritage house full of warmth and light. Most of the artwork was by school children, but don’t let that fool you. Their pieces had such sincerity and spark that they left quite an impression. It’s that rare feeling—art that feels close to home, both literally and emotionally. The staff and volunteers were simply marvellous. Their enthusiasm was infectious. They had such a lovely way of drawing the children, and us parents too, into the stories behind each piece. It wasn’t just informative; it was heartfelt. Just across the path is an old barn, now turned into a fully equipped workshop. It’s a splendid little space where members of the community can roll up their sleeves and create. You can tell it’s well loved and well used. While the gallery itself isn’t especially large, I never think of it on its own. It’s part of a wider cultural pocket that includes the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby Village Museum, and of course, the beautiful Deer Lake Park. Together, they form what feels like the heart of Burnaby: a place where art, nature, and local history all come together quietly and gracefully.
The Y — Google review
A lovely little gallery nearby the Deee Lake. The exhibition areas are smaller than expected with the beautiful building outlook. Don't miss out the 2nd floor
Luke L — Google review
The house was elegant, but there weren’t as many art pieces as I had expected. In contrast, Burnaby Village Museum, located nearby, had a stronger collection and was significantly more impressive. I gave one star for the content and two stars for the beauty of the house.
Parsa S — Google review
"I really love art, but this gallery is on the smaller side and has only a few pieces. Still, I'd give it five stars because it's so tidy and well-kept, and they really treat the art with respect."🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺😊
Mitra — Google review
Wow, sure they have some pounding hammers and workers making some noise, during the rehab, but inside is worth the visit, and soon the construction sounds sync with epiphanies as the amazing collections are witnessed. Warhol in Burnaby? Yes, and so much more in this lovingly preserved Burnaby historical home. Stained glass and everywhere you look, more details to take in. No one was there when I went, so I turned it into a Billionaire private viewing. That's right folks, I'm actually a Trillionaire but claim Billionaire to stay humble.
Reverse F — Google review
Very nice place to visit. I would have liked to have seen more classical burnaby artists. A bit less high school art.

Symphony Bowl is an annual event featuring the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at Deer Lake Park. The free family-friendly activity promises to transport listeners to different worlds through music, including pieces from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story and Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture. The event also includes a musical zone with traditional Chinese instruments and performances by VSO School of Music's Azalea Chinese Music Ensemble. Thousands of people attend this popular concert, so arriving early with blankets and a picnic is recommended.
Love the vegan tofu avocado bowl! The ingredients are fresh and nutritious. The sauce is very tasty! I can say that it's made with care. Plus, the service is always sweet and welcoming! Thanks

This was originally hard to find, now a favorite go to for office lunch. Delicious food prepared to order. Friendly staff and clean eating area in a large atrium. And they play classic rock usually. Recommended

Great option for a quick office lunch. Good menu of tasty offerings, fresh ingredients, good portion sizes, reasonably priced. Never had a bad experience there nor have I heard from my colleagues. We are located in the building next door so very convenient and many of us eat here.

Very good place to go for lunch if you work in the area. Not many vegetarian or vegan options but for those who are ok with it there is pretty nice selection of food, always coming with a good load of veggies or salad. I believe there is always fresh soup you can get.

A nice small cafeteria-like place. They're friendly and offer some breakfast, sandwiches, wraps, etc. I would recommend the BBQ chicken wrap. Tip: if you don't want it as lunch special including a salad for a slightly higher price, you should say so upfront to avoid confusion.

Library
The Burnaby Public Library, Bob Prittie Metrotown Branch, situated in downtown Burnaby, is a top destination for book lovers and knowledge seekers. The library offers an array of services and programs suitable for all age groups. Visitors can enjoy free Wi-Fi, internet access on computers, as well as complimentary use of printers and photocopiers. Families with children can partake in educational yet entertaining activities at the library.
This library is a really beautiful place. It's always a lovely sight to see children and parents together. It is really impressive to see people reading books, from young students to the elderly. This library is especially cozy, with a small park-like front garden. The front garden often hosts events for the whole family. The mother horse and baby horse sculptures installed on one side of the garden are also beautiful. Visit this library and spend some leisurely time. If you live nearby, make this library your favorite space.

I am giving them 5 star so everyone can see it. My son went to the library and got fever right after. Apparently our kid is not the only victim from their filthy and unsanitary environment, even when I walk in I felt uncomfortable. Their bookshelf is also dusty so I don’t know if they sanitize their carpet and floor every single day. Please keep the place safe and clean for kids to stay.

Wonderful place to study with plenty of space. There is a printing station and a quiet room to study.

This library is so beautiful and spacious, inside and out! It also has a great selection of books on the women’s sexuality. Lots of space to do work, quiet, and lovely. A great argument for why libraries are essential to the community! Be proud of your lovely library, Burnaby!

I’ve had such a wonderful experience at Burnby Library! The staff are not only kind and welcoming, but incredibly helpful. One particular team member went above and beyond to support me in finding my books. I deeply appreciate her. It’s rare to find that level of dedication and genuine care. The atmosphere is warm, and it truly feels like a place where learning and community come together. Thank you for making a difference!

Absolutely love this place and feel so lucky this is near metrotown, and is so easily accessible. So well maintained and updated- such a well kept, aesthetic garden as well as the library inside - it simply feels perfect and calming. This place is preserving culture and weaving such an elegance in the fabric of this society. Young, old, learning and curious, has a great confluence of people and intentions.

Small but very nice farmers market market, they have activities for kids, music, and lots of local vendors!, plenty of free parking spots, is in the burnaby city hall, pet friendly and all the staff from the farmers market is very friendly and helpful!

Very small farmers market available during summer. There are about 20-30 local providers and some truck food available. Bakery shop was very good with some delicious breads. Honey and chocolate seems to be delicious but I did not try. It is very local and the varieties are not that much. Convenient free parking also provided.

Great place to go early in the morning. Have a coffee and bun. Get organic vegetables, variety of bake goods, fruits, meats, cut flowers and other artisan jams, spices, sauces, leather bags and belts and many more.
April P — Google review
really small area just for local farmers to sell their harvest. some bakery, veggies, fruits, drinks, clothes, and etc. it's a bit expensive and we couldn't buy anything but i would go back again. it's also safe space, people bring their animals also just to walk around and socialize.
Ember N — Google review
My first visit this year and it didn't disappoint at all as I was wanting to purchase farm fresh produce. There's a great variety of fresh organic fruits & vegetables, baked goods, a plant booth, soap vendor, salsa & jam makers plus a few food cart vendors. Absolutely love the sourdough sesame bread from the big dog bakery or Dog bakery...not sure of the name, but the bread is super fresh and we've devoured it! There were a few food vendors that all had lineups which seemed to move fast and lots of people eating lunch while they shopped. They did a good job of social distancing with well marked entry & exit and reminders about staying apart. Nestled in the heart of Burnaby, Burnaby Mountain Park is a stunning green oasis that beckons nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. This expansive park features a delightful rose garden, playgrounds for children, and ample picnic spots perfect for family gatherings. As you wander through its scenic trails, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of Indian Arm and Deep Cove, especially during the vibrant autumn months when the foliage transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors.
This is definitely a wonderful park in all of Greater Vancouver! It provides surreal views of the city, and great nature, with many walking trails that lead you into the woods! Would highly recommend going here if you're visiting Vancouver BC!
Ray778 — Google review
One of the beautiful spots in Vancouver. Earlier this place would be less crowded & there was different vibe but lately it’s different. Anyways the charm is still intact. Don’t just go for a sunset but for easy as well as steep hikes in and around the mountain. Usually parking is full so on the weekend or in Yh evenings road side parking is the option. Walking just up to the hill and sitting on the slope would be a good picnic time. Be aware of mosquitoes. The restaurant on the hip top does not have a lot of food options but an upscale mostly non- vegetarian menu. In my opinion, it’s perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner date as I had one here. lol. So you can tell I am a regular here. Had many photos but lost them somewhere so posting few I got but all sides have different views to enjoy and dense trees that cover the trails. Hike , picnic or enjoy sunset

Absolutely hands down one of my favourite places! Watching the sunset is INCREDIBLE from here (pictures don't do it justice), just wonderful! So beautiful and lovely and such an amazing view of the city. Awesome gravel path walkways through a hilly park with views. Totem poles and beautiful mountain views. AND a beautiful Rose Garden that smells like heaven!

Lovely this time of year. Not too hot and not too cold. Some flowers are out too so pretty cute. Remember the climb is on your way back so safe some energy for your return journey on your hike.

Burnaby Mountain Park is a beautiful place to visit, offering stunning views and a serene environment. The park’s trails are well-maintained and perfect for hiking, with options for both beginners and more experienced hikers. The lush greenery and vibrant flowers add to the park’s charm, making it an excellent spot for nature lovers. One of the highlights is the breathtaking view of the city and surrounding mountains, especially at sunset. The park also has several picnic areas, which are great for a relaxing day out with family or friends. Additionally, the playground and open spaces are ideal for children to play and explore. However, the park can get quite busy during weekends and holidays, so parking might be a challenge. Despite this, the overall experience at Burnaby Mountain Park is delightful, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy nature and beautiful scenery.

Got a great panoramic view of the city, kinda sorta. It's overlooking the ocean on one side which is awesome but it's too steep at times as well, which might be an issue with some seniors. Great place to come for an evening walk or a short picnic with family. Got tons of play area for kids so they can be busy. Got some trails going through the forest, we did some but couldn't finish the loop. If you're up for a grind and burn the extra calories you consumed during the weekend, then you can come here during the week and burn it all with the loop trail.

Good park to hangout with your family and do some picnic under the tree, then go for a walk and enjoy the scenery of the mountain and the lake. Dog friendly with leash. They have a small playground for kids too. Washroom is available near paking area. Parking is limited like 50-60 cars. It get busy in sunny warm days.

Deer Lake Park in Burnaby is a must-visit destination for nature and culture enthusiasts. With scenic picnic areas, lakeside trails, and boardwalks around the lake, it offers a perfect setting for leisurely strolls and outdoor activities. The park is home to several cultural attractions including the Burnaby Art Gallery, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby Village Museum, and Hart House Restaurant.
A relatively quiet place with good parking, perfect for walking alone or with family. It's a clean and beautiful environment featuring a small, picturesque lake, streams, and old, sturdy trees, filled with ducks and seagulls. It offers a mix of natural scenery and distant residential views. I highly recommend visiting and bringing some water and snacks with you, as walking around can make you thirsty and hungry, and there are no shops or stores nearby to get these. In summary, it's a great spot to spend a few hours and enjoy nature.

Deer Lake – A Perfect Spot for a Relaxing Nature Escape! This trail is an excellent choice for anyone looking to spend time outdoors without too much difficulty. The lake is surrounded by lush forests and trails, offering a sense of seclusion despite its location within the city. What I liked: • The beauty of nature: the lake, forests, and surrounding mountains create a stunning landscape. • The trail around the lake: an easy 2 km route, perfect for walking, jogging, or simply relaxing outdoors. • Accessibility: The location is within the city, making it easy to reach by public transport or car. • Peace and quiet: Despite being close to the city, you can enjoy calmness and solitude here. What I didn’t like: • The area can get quite busy on weekends, especially when locals come for picnics or walks. Overall, Deer Lake is a fantastic place for a short break or a leisurely walk. It’s an oasis of tranquility where you can enjoy nature, breathe fresh air, and relax.

It's a great lake front park in the city. There are lots of parking while in front of the beach. There are a boat rental in the beach in summer. A great place for a long or short walk starting from this beach. Now you can see many high rises from the beach. It's good for a walk in this area all season.

I'm a big fan of this park, whether I'm going for a run or a walk. The view is fantastic, and there are convenient amenities like parking and restrooms near the waterfront. While it may not be the best spot for swimming, it's perfect for a peaceful and relaxing afternoon.

Lovely loop trail to follow that’s just shy of 4km around the whole lake. There’s a number of boardwalk sections as well where bicycles are not allowed on, so I wouldn’t recommend this trail for biking, only walking.

Barnet Marine Park is a historic area with a large sandy beach, perfect for swimming during the summer. Families can enjoy shoreline walks, picnics, and flying kites in designated areas. The park offers fishing opportunities and stunning views of Burrard Inlet and remnants of Barnet's pioneering history. It's known for being one of Vancouver's best beaches, drawing swimmers to its shores. Additionally, there are walking trails and an off-leash dog area for visitors to explore.
This place is simply beautiful and peaceful. The picturesque view of a calm lake with clear reflections of the trees and the surrounding sky makes it an ideal destination for those seeking peace and tranquillity. The fallen logs on the shore suggest the presence of a nearby forest, adding a touch of natural and wild beauty to the environment. The clear sky with a few birds flying gives a sense of a peaceful and undisturbed atmosphere. In summary, it's a perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty it offers."

After being away from Vancouver for 2 yrs. We almost forgot about this gem of a place nestled between North Burnaby and Coquitlam. Straight off Barnett highway and across the street from the Bike Park ( still under construction as of Summer of 2025 ) Nice calm waters for paddle boarding as well as a pretty big picnic and beach area. Wave to the train conductors as they pass by and they will give you “hoot!”Tons of parking and the park is well kept and clean. Dog friendly with great views of North Vancouver and Port Moody.

Scenic Views! The views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains are stunning from here. It's an excellent spot for family picnics, with spacious areas, not many picnic tables though. The walking trails suit both casual strolls and more intense hikes. The beach is perfect for relaxation and water activities, and there's an off-leash area for dogs, a hit with pet owners. The park is very clean, and the parking can be crowded on weekends. The scenery is beautiful and a peaceful atmosphere makes it worth the visit.

Nice Park to walk in the shore and spend time for picnic, they have a off leash dog area too! but its so busy over the weekends specially in sunny day/summer season so be early as the parking lot they get full and some spot in summer time they have restriction like 2hours parking or 4hours only. Also bring a cart if you planning to have picnic with family and bring lots of stuff, as the parking lot is not close to the picnic area and you need to bring all you stuff even tho they have drop iff area. They have lots of picnic table in the area, clean washroom and they have spray water outside the washroom. Over all the park is nice, spacious and clean.

A Huge and lovely park, in Burnaby, it is very well equipped with long walking and hiking areas around the sea. It has an area where dogs are allowed. There is a beautiful walking bridge with an awesome view of the trailway. It is a very relaxing place, you can enjoy it all day there. It is so funny to watch people enjoy their time there . Me too !!! There are washrooms , showers, and a place for swimming cafeteria, you can enjoy water sports there . The park is a sea channel sea border, so sometimes you can see how the guide boats are helping the big ship to move through the channel. There is a parking restriction of a maximum of 04 hours during the summer. You can reach there by bus or car.
Gilda C — Google review
Perhaps one of the best parks in Burnaby because of the beach. It's hard to compare the Fraser River in the south and north, but the Marine Park in North Burnaby is obviously better. Children can play on the beach and in the shallow water. There are large areas of grass for camping and picnics. Life is beautiful.

Parking is convenient and easy to find, and the overall atmosphere during the races is lively and exciting, creating a great vibe for both newcomers and regular fans.

This place brings me back so many memories from the 90’s. Vividly remembering sneaking in as a teen to watch the degenerates gamble away their hard earned money away. Even asked a friend’s uncle to help place some bets. Walked by today, and though no races were happening, I still saw some hard living lifers smoking their last butt before heading back into their roulette table. Never really appreciated how beautiful this location was with the stunning mountainous backdrop.
Stanley Y — Google review
Came here for The Cup event this year. The place was clean and had a lot of security that ensured everyone's safety. Parking lot was available. The betting payout ratio was easy to understand and see even though it was my first time. I personally didn't like that it was cash only, but at least they had ATM machines. Each bet was on the hour, which was a bit long... I think every 30 mins would suffice. Some of the seats (like mine) didn't have the best view, but my seat was one of the free ones of the event, so I can't complain! The view looking out at the racecourse is gorgeous with mountain view.

The Hastings Racecourse and Casino is a great place to spend time either playing slot machines, playing table games, or attending the horse races on various days of the year, mainly in the spring and summer. I had a blast watching the horse race and dog race that was on, it's a fantastic event and fun for family and friends.

This was a fun night. I'm not a gambler, but betting on horses was kind of fun. I'd say, if you're bored and want to do something different, check it out.

Fun place to watch horses and place some bets for entertainment. Entrance is free but parking is $15. There are food stalls where you can buy different types of easy to eat food like burgers as well as beverage stalls selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. You can either use the machines or go to the tellers to bet in person. There is a wall inside the building that explains how it works to all beginner or you can ask for help in-person. The brochures for the night cost an extra $3 but has lots of details to look at. There is also a casino but we didn’t go in as we already had so much fun watching the horses and betting. Before the race, they will parade the horses around so everyone can have a look. Make sure to bring cash as that is the only form of payment the establishment takes for wagers.

I want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to Hastings Racetrack! ⭐ This review is really about two small but huge things that made all the difference for me as a mom. I’ve been here a couple of times and always had a great experience, but this time I had the privilege of bringing my seven-month-old son. I was so happy to see change tables in the women’s washrooms, along with benches and chairs that made it easy to sit and feed my baby. Such a thoughtful touch! THANK YOU for making the space family-friendly and stress-free. 🙌 If you’re a parent wondering if this place is family-friendly—the answer is YES, 100%!

Robert Burnaby Park offers a serene escape from the city with its winding trails through a forested creek ravine. Families can enjoy the playground, outdoor pool, and sports courts for some active fun. The park also features beautiful natural elements such as giant stumps, fallen trees, and a natural creek habitat. It's an ideal spot for nature lovers to explore and unwind. Additionally, visitors can take advantage of the picnic area and off-leash dog park.
This is one of my favorite places for a morning walk. It can be really beautiful here. There is a forest, trees covered with moss, ferns, old maples, paths. As well as a tennis court, swimming pool, playground, a magnificent lawn, frisbee, benches, parking. This place is great for a walk, relaxing with family, picnicking, yoga and even a photo shoot. It is especially beautiful early in the morning if there is fog outside.

A big, forest park with great walking trails and an off-leash dog area. Lots of amenities: excellent baseball diamond, frisbee golf course, tennis courts, and great benches for taking a break on this steep terrain. When we found out that a big, friendly bear was seen nearby — we headed for the parking lot! Looking forward to a return visit. Enjoy!

Originally I went to this park to locate and enjoy some of the forest art installations. I believe they must of been weathered or dismantled as I could not locate even one. Discovering some beautiful trees was well worth the long walk through the temperate rain forest. There are lots of giant stumps, uprooted fallen trees, a natural creek habitat, mountain bike trails and plenty of singing birds. There is a picnic area ,swimming pool and an off leash park for dogs. There is also a Frisbee course throughout the forest and park that seems to be quite popular. It looks like a fun way to spend the afternoon.

I didn't know this place existed until we were driving by and wanted to check the top of the hill. It is beautiful, will definitely return when it is sunny 🌞 It is not a proper park, just a leveled empty yard for watching over the city. It is actually just a picture point 😀

Really good experience. It's worth the ride if you want to chill and enjoy the sunset. Make sure to bring foods and drink if you want to stay for a while, as it's a residencial area, far away from most other places.

Profound view, an immense public resource. At night the shimmering lights of North Vancouver, the warm ambitious glow of downtown. The orange glimmering hues of South Burnaby and Metrotown. Confederation park and Hastings sparkle underneath. All of Burnaby lies within your view, immensely beautiful, beckoning each glance. This view remains unparalleled to capture the perfect vision of Vancouver or Burnaby, any of the four season's. The only other view that contests this lookout point it at the summit of Queen Elizabeth Park. This remains forever among the best in the world. Yours to enjoy.

If you are at the Burnaby central Railway, i have posted a detailed review for that then this confederation water park is just 2 min walk and kids will have a lot of fun as there are some unique fountains as shown in the video. I would suggest to bring an extra pair of clothes as young kids will get tempted to get wet. There are also some great picnic spots around and cool kids playground. Easy to spend a nice evening with kids. Plenty parking and washrokms available. Check out the video & follow for more.

There's a sign nearby that says this water park is open 9 AM to 9 PM, during the months of May through September. I have been to this park twice during those months and no water has been turned on. This city needs to either go by it's own signage, take down the signage so they're not lying about the open hours or remove the water park altogether.

Really lovely park with almost any amenity you can think of. Tennis courts, bocce alleys, covered picnic areas, dog parks, track, water park, playground, community center with pool and gym, library... got it all.
Yvonne H — Google review
Great place for family and large group picnics. Lots of parking and good facilities for kids like the water park. Be sure to get there early for a good spot!
Anthony L — Google review
Great park for kids but would benefit from having more benches in the shade or coverd areas

Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park is a serene riverfront park located along the Fraser River, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. It features picnic spots, benches, and shaded areas for relaxation while watching boats pass by. The park also includes an outdoor gym with fitness equipment and two volleyball courts. Families can enjoy the large open space for various activities like soccer or flying kites, as well as walking along boardwalks through tidal marshes and trees.
A lovely riverside park with lots of benches, tables, and green space. There’s a fitness circuit with chin up bars and assorted work out equipment. You’ll find gorgeous, classic trees, numerous covered picnic tables and an off leash area for dogs. A fun playground for toddlers and a climbing structure for older kids. Washrooms and plenty of parking, too. Great park!

We went on a Monday at 7pm. Everything was perfect: sunset, fitness trail, fitness facilities, picnic tables, small playground for kids, very clean and modern restrooms. The only suggestion is to wear long sleeves and long pants here. There are too many mosquitoes here.

Situated on the northern arm of Fraser River in south Burnaby, the park is popular with local residents. Even on unusually cold February day, with some sections of the trail muddy or slipery, we met quite a few people. Half of them with unleashed dogs, even though it was against the park's use rule. On the east side of the park, there is a small free parking lot, information posters, and a bathroom. The bathroom was clean.

Burnaby Foreshore Park is an excellent destination for a day out. With its picturesque surroundings and ample amenities, it offers a delightful experience for everyone. The park's well-maintained picnic areas are perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal, while the playground ensures that kids have a blast. The scenic walking trails provide a great opportunity to explore nature, whether on foot or by bike. Whether you're seeking adventure or relaxation, Burnaby Foreshore Park has it all. It's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike.

Beautiful park, dog friendly, nice walking trails along the river. They have nice proper washrooms with running water not just an outhouse. Lots of seating with benches and picnic tables. Along the walk there is spread out exercise equipment. Fun playground. They have bookable / rentable covered picnic areas for groups. If you're looking for a nice walk along the water this is a great place to check out. There are a few parking lots but lots of street parking too.

Great place for a walk close to the city reasonably easy to get good social distancing. Lots of trails and open space right on the river. Good for dogs, cats, and families to walk and bike. A good place on a windy day to fly a kite.

Peaceful park next to the Fraser River. It is a good spot for family gatherings and picnics. It has a well maintained public washroom, a lot of parking space, playground, and gym facilities.
Kapil R — Google review
A nice and quiet park by the river. It has all the activities you wanted. It has a children's playground with a washroom nearby. A couple of exercise machines to try out. A dog's park with ample picnic area. You can even play volleyball there, just bring the net and ball. A nice bike trail runs through the park. Truly a gem.

Nature & Parks
Byrne Creek Ravine Park is a hidden gem nestled in Burnaby's Central Park neighborhood, offering a serene escape into nature. This wooded area features winding trails perfect for hiking and dog-walking, alongside a baseball diamond for sports enthusiasts. As you wander through the park, you'll be treated to stunning views of Vancouver's skyline on clear days. The park also boasts picnic areas where visitors can savor their meals outdoors or unwind with friends amidst the lush greenery.
When you enter, it doesn’t feel like you’re still in the city—it feels more like a true forest trek. It's conveniently close to Edmonds Station, and the walk around the creek is easy and pleasant. We even spotted a couple of barred owls along the way.
Anuja B — Google review
Very comfortable park near me, large and clean, the clear washroom and pretty pool, the creek is fit for the hike after picnic.
Laurence M — Google review
You can walk around the park for about an hour. It's a mix of valleys and trees, perfect for families or solo walks
Hwipa K — Google review
Nice ravine park with many public amenities, including a children's playground with slides, swings, seesaw and wading pool. Public restrooms and picnic area. Tennis courts, as well as street hockey and basketball courts available. Softball pitch across from the public restrooms. Loop through the ravine for a decent 5000 step walk with 100 stairs to get your heart rate going. A bit noisy at times due to traffic and SkyTrain noises, but peaceful near the creek. Only steps from SkyTrain station. Dogs on leash only.

At just over 3 kilometres this is a lovely urban / nature walk. We started by the washrooms (thank you for this amenity) and went clockwise. You have a choice. Going this direction you are on a mostly downward slope until you get to the stairs which is definitely get the ticker going ! Or you could go counterclockwise and it’s down the ( couple of hundred ) stairs and a long gradual uphill. Many thanks to the people that built this gem !

I really enjoyed it here. Had never been, it was a very rainy day, and even with that everything was so lush and fresh! There are a few steps, and some parts are slightly less friendly if you were in say sandles. But the area is beautiful and nice. Can walk all the way around it. Fun for a short trek or the whole thing. Plenty of place to stop and relax, have a bite to eat. There are some little fairy houses out there and painted rocks. Super cool to have when there is so much else going on around
Russell M — Google review
Byrne Creek Ravine Park is a great place with residential access east, north, and west. Many of the resi streets also have parking. Off Marine Way, you can park in the area of Byrnepark Drive and Southwynde Avenue. From there the perimeter trail leads up to Edmonds Metro station. Then circle around and walk west to Ron McLean Park (which has washrooms). At Hedley Avenue and Portland Street, continue south on Bank Street. The tennis court is where the trail starts up again. We were so happy to find the stairs that take you down. While the upper trail mixes nature sounds with the skytrain, once in the ravine you will have just nature and running water sounds. A bridge takes you out and up to Southridge Drive. From there, you can take the sidewalk back, but definitely take the trail that goes up a small hill. That inner trail winds along with views of the ravine and the creek, and connects to the perimeter at multiple junctions. Byrne Creek Ravine Park was a really surprising and clean urban park. I thought it would just be street level strolling next to low and high rises and the skytrain, but going down into the ravine was a treat. Our walk was about one hour and went from street access to flat paved paths to another park to dirt trails to stairs to running water to a bridge to a forest hike. With so many points of access, close proximity to streets and transit, and such variety in surroundings, this is a gem to have the city. *Whoever is the artist for the various signs (re Byrne Creek Streamkeepers Society) about staying out of the creek while salmon eggs are in the gravel, you are a wonderful and humorous illustrator! Keep drawing. Daniel
Daniel N — Google review
This park is great for those who enjoy a little walk in the woods close to the city and transit stations. There is a ravine in the middle and you can only access the waterway on the southwest side of the park. The north side of the park has paved and gravel paths, while the south side has dirt, rock and rooted trails. There is also a set of stairs on the westside of the park, great for those who enjoy a cardio workout. In the midst of the park, you can feel a sense you are away from urban areas and into peaceful and calming natural surroundings. Highly recommend visiting this gorgeous park if you like seeing our native temperate rainforest, enjoy nature, take nature photography or just get out of busy life. Make sure your dog doesn't disrupt the salmon eggs on the stream from October to April. Avoid letting them rush into the water as the dirt that is stirred up can choke the salmon.
