Museum
Specialty Museums
The Móra Ferenc Museum is a neoclassical institution that showcases natural history, ethnology, seasonal displays and a collection of gold artifacts. Recently hosting an exhibition on dinosaurs, the museum features interactive robotic creatures emitting sounds and even has a playground for children. The other collections are also well-presented. However, there is room for improvement regarding their souvenir shop which mainly stocks children's books in Hungarian.
This is my second time here. The exhibition is amazing, the facilities are spotless, and the entrance fee is quite reasonable. It’s a perfect spot for a family outing with kids.”
Yugo H — Google review
The museum is classic and varied in exhibitions! It's a suitable place to see displays for all ages ! There's noce ambiance here ! It's a pity there's no audio guide and many pieces of displays have no English translations.
Eling H — Google review
The building is architecturally beautiful from both inside and out. The views from the top of the museum are also nice, and the staff is friendly. When it comes to the exhibitions, they seem more suited for children. Adult tickets are a bit overpriced. Almost all descriptions (around 90%) are only in Hungarian.
Luka V — Google review
It's all pretty random. Some stuffed animals, some classical paintings, some japanese ones, some corc-art exhibition and something about the history of hairdressers. The whole thing is in Hungarian only. There is no real concept behind the museum, no round tour, just randomness and a small viewing deck at the top which costs extra. If you are here for the view go to the cathedral instead. The tower view is way more impressive. Also the gold exhebition is under construction and closed atm.
Rico — Google review
We came to the museum when Teracota warriors were there. It was amazing to see them and the whole chinese exhibition. It was amazing and we loved it. We bought a ticket to climb to the roof and that was also a very good move. The view from upthere is amazing. We bought a few small terracota wariors in the souvenir shop and went through other exhibition in the museum.
Maja B — Google review
I give it 5 stars for the building and the staff. But I think it is way to expensive for what it offered on the day of our visit. Many of the exhibits are temporary so you need to check before going.
Samuel S — Google review
We came for the Chinese Terracotta Warriors and Chinese history exhibition. It was really well done. Both interesting and informative. Great for families too with a children's activity section.
P N — Google review
Visited while hosting dinosaurs exhibition, I must admit, it was a huge pleasant surprise! A lot of info, interactive robotic dinosaurs emitting sounds and even a playground for kids. Very nice indeed! Other collections are also well presented! What I missed is a souvenir shop with some more literature, mostly there were kids book and all in Hungarian.

Outdoor Activities
Szeged Zoo is a vast outdoor animal park that showcases various exotic creatures in their natural habitats. It provides ample free parking space and features a playground for children, as well as food options within the premises. The animals are healthy and active, and visitors can interact with some of them by feeding them special food. Szeged Zoo is an excellent destination for a day or half-day city break, easily accessible with well-maintained facilities that guarantee safety for all ages.
Must visit place, the biggest zoo in Hungary, paradise for animals, there is so many of them. You need a good 4 hours to see all. It is divided into continents and animals are positioned accordingly. The most important, excellent environment for all beings and few rare animals to see.
Ivana A — Google review
One of the best Zoo to see near Romania and from Hungary. Very many species and a huge place. The main attraction in my opinion is the RED PANDA. Also, there are rhinos and very big elephants. Overall, the zoo is a five star, definetly worth visiting if you have 3 hours free.
Sergiu — Google review
One of the best Zoo's from Eastern Europe. The zoo is very nicely arranged and the animals look very good and healthy. Congratulations to the keepers and we will definitely come back! There are plenty of parking spaces in front of the zoo!
Victor P — Google review
The first steps towards the establishment of the Szeged Zoo began in the 1980s, and on December 5, 1985, the Szeged City Council adopted a resolution establishing the institution as part of the Amusement Park. At that time, the animal collection consisted of only 3 monkeys, a few deer, wild boars and a giant snake. Since January 1, 1989, the National Wildlife Park has become an independent institution, and later, on May 28, it opened its doors with an exhibition of about 4 hectares. It is the youngest traditional zoo in Hungary owned by a municipality and the National Wildlife Park with the largest area of all zoos in Hungary, almost 45 hectares.

It was a beautifull experience especially for the kids they had a lot of fun. We caught the Seals feeding show which was very entertaining. I recommend that you visit in some ways it doesn't feel like a zoo with all the trees and green.
Stancu A — Google review
Really nice and spacious zoo where you can easily spend the whole day. There's plenty to see and do, and the price is just right. A great experience overall – you won’t regret visiting!
Adimo A — Google review
The Zoo was amazing, I recommend you come as early as you can because it will take a lot of time to look at every animal. It took us 5 hours to go around with a quick stop to drink coffee and eat.

The Botanical Garden of Szeged is a vast and tranquil arboretum that boasts a wealth of plant species. This gorgeous garden features an array of botanical attractions, including a butterfly house, carnivorous plants exhibition, and orchid greenhouse. The well-maintained paths within the garden lead visitors past streams and shady trees, offering plenty of opportunities to relax among nature's beauty. To fully appreciate the gardens' bloom, it's best to visit in spring or summer.
Absolutely loved it, beautiful gardens, lots of nice benches to take a break and enjoy the gardens and wildlife, a real highlight of our stay in Szeged
James B — Google review
I loved every inch of this place! It is absolutely gorgeous! They have settings, a beautiful Japanese garden, butterflies, and what I haven't seen in other botanical gardens: a room dedicated to ferns and another for succulents. I create terrariums, so that was a wonderful surprise for me. I recommend that you make time to visit when in Seghed, even if there are so many other wonderful attractions in the city.
Ramona N — Google review
Worthwhile visit! The price is fair, there is parking and a cafe. You need a few hours just to view everything. Recommended!

Absolutely stunning, the lake with lotus flowers, the house with amazing butterflies, rock garden, Japanese garden, garden with flowers used to make paintings & many other interesting staff, like herbal stuff, then a little house with natural aromas, natural scents with a very knowledgeable & nice lady, Ildiko there & so on. :) All staff is also very knowledgeable & nice all around in the botanical garden.:))) I will upload video about my visit to my YouTube channel, just search for "Cyclists HeyJoe PC RPG Community", I add to my channel some GoPro videos about my cycling tours mainly but some other things too, like gameplay videos from story-driven video games, plus short videos from some fun events &/or fun places.:))) Szuper hely nagyon, aki szereti a termeszetet, ez egy kihagyhatatlan hely Szegeden, a napfeny varosaban! ;) :)))

Church
The Votive Church of Szeged is a lavishly decorated Catholic Cathedral that was built in response to the devastation caused by a flood in 1879. It stands as one of Szeged's architectural gems, boasting an iconic design and rich historical significance. The church, with its twin spires and marvelous interior, is situated on a plaza reminiscent of St Mark's Square in Venice.
This is one of the best place you can visit in Szeged . It doesn’t require to purchase the ticket and you can visit it also during the weekend. Its started in 1913 but is not completed during to World war 1 , then is completed on 1930 which is make it one of the oldest church. Its so beautiful and you have to visit it .
Babak G — Google review
Beautiful cathedral outside and inside. Construction began in 1913, but due to the outbreak of the First World War, it was not completed until 1930. It is the fourth-largest church in Hungary. It contains one of the largest organs in Europe with 9740 pipes and 134 ranks. It is possible to buy a ticket and visit the top of the tower with great view to the town. To the top, you need to pass trough five large bells. On full hour is a very loud up there, in room with bells. Recommend to visit the tower. Be prepared for a few hundreds stairs. Same ticket cover visiting underground of the cathedral with a lot of museum and art pieces. Ticket is about 6 EUR per person.
Palantir S — Google review
The Votive Church of Szeged although beautiful would be even more beautiful if the Bible was taught here and if the Gospel and The Word of God was taught and followed within and around it's walls. Do not follow the churches of man, instead Follow The Lord Jesus Christ The Son of God. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Also read Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
James — Google review
I sadly didn't have the opportunity to go inside the cathedral, but the mosaics on the frontal part of the building truly blew me away... Amazing, really. I was captivated by not only the cathedral's architecture but of the square as a whole. I lost track of time and just marveled for 45 minutes straight.
Hunkbug — Google review
I stopped by the Votive Church around noon, and even without going inside, it was seriously impressive. The twin towers and red-brick façade looked amazing in the sunlight, and the whole square around it felt peaceful and open. I just sat on a bench for a while and soaked in the view—it’s the kind of place that makes you pause. Hoping to go inside next time, but even from the outside, it’s one of Szeged’s most beautiful landmarks.
Mohammad E — Google review
Largest catholic church in Szeged, incredible place, in walking distance from downtown it is a must see in this nice Hungarian city.

Szechenyi Square is a historic plaza situated at the heart of the city, boasting sculptures and seasonal events like Christmas fairs and summer wine festivals. The square is ideal for strolls, picnics on grassy areas (though watch out for dog excrement), and serves as a transportation hub for multiple public transit lines. It's also near the city hall where various events take place, including state foundation day celebrations.
During our Avalon river cruise, we came at Pecs for some time. Our first stop was Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. The second stop was this beautiful square right in the center of old town. This square has got a very long history behind it. The main attractions were Mosque of Pasha Kaszmin Gazi, Statue of Janos Hunyadi and Holy Trinity beside City Hall, Council Hall and Zsolnay Fountain. Our guide explained to us briefly about everything. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants around. The entire square was a pedestrian zone which added to its beauty. One could chill around here for hours together. Don't miss it...
Balkrishna S — Google review
The square is beautifully designed, with its spacious layout offering a peaceful environment, perfect for leisurely strolls. The architecture surrounding the square is stunning, with a perfect blend of old-world beauty and contemporary touches. It's a wonderful place to relax, take in the sights, and feel the heartbeat of the city. Highly recommended!

Located in the centre of the city. Very good for walks. I think you can even do some picnics since there are a lot of grass area, but be careful of dog poop and what not. Many of the public transport lines also passes this point. It is also very close to the city hall. I think most events also happens here, such as the state foundation day.

I nice, quite place, great for a relaxing walk. The fountain is nice an clean, the staturs well maintained.
Cristian C — Google review
One of the most iconic square (tér) in the city of Szeged. Great place to kill time, or simply just walking around or walk your dog. Easily accessed by tram train, trolley bus, or a city bus because of the location is highly strategic at the city centre. Overall, this place is such a good place.
Eka A — Google review
It's a nice and cozy square where you can enjoy watching the fountain and the beautiful view. Also, you might hear the bell ring at every hour.
Tamás P — Google review
Main square in Szeged, it's pedestrian friendly and dog friendly. Many statues litter the park. Grand buildings also occupy the outside. While nothing to special in the park to see its a great place to sit at one of the many beaches.

Sunshine Aquapolis Szeged is an energetic waterpark that boasts both indoor and outdoor waterslides, as well as swimming pools and a sauna. It's the perfect place to spend your weekend with family and friends. To save money, it's recommended to purchase full-day tickets which grant access from 8am to 8pm. The thermal bath area is particularly beneficial for overall body health and stress relief.
A must here in Szeged. If you love water and sun, you need to visit. I bought the full day ticket. Bought an extra Spa massage. All the pools, interior and exterior have warm water so, no worries about the atmospheric temperature being cold. Well, today, 3th of May 2025 the air temperature was 30°C. Great for families, couples, lovers...even for a lonely soul like me. Highly recommended.
Paulo L — Google review
If you’re into waterslides, you should definitely visit! Maybe a bit pricier than nearby spa centers at Mako and Moraholom which are a bit better value for money.
Dule V — Google review
The water park is open all year round and offers water entertainment for both children and adults. Hot water pools, slides, treatment pools, jacuzzi pools, etc.
Calin H — Google review
The place is pretty fun, has lots of different pools, even with warmer water for younger kids or colder water for “older kids”. There are places for food and drinks on the inside but you are also allowed with your own food and drinks. You can even buy water toys and floaters. There is covered, paid parking under the water park. There are plenty of slides and a lazy river that becomes pretty fast at times. There are different places that you can lay down on, inside and outside. I can’t give it a 5 star because our aqua park in Timișoara looks much better, this one feeling pretty old.
Aioanei T — Google review
The Aquapark is just big enough for a family of 4 to spend 1 day. We had moved into 7 different pools from which 2 were outside ( one was baby/kids only). There are heated water pools that have more than 32 degrees and there are 2 hot pools that I guess are over 40 or 45 and these 2 had yellowish water so I presume have some minerals into it also (did not spend more than 15 seconds there as the kids were not interested in this). To eat there is quick food place near the outside pools where they serve chicken nuggets, hamburger, pasta and bevareges. It is visible that this place is not new and there several items that show the passage of time or the big number of usages (some restbeds were recoloured and showed multiple usage torns). Because of the several things on cleanliness I gave it 4 stars, in the bathrooms the ceiling was looking damp and broken and with black spots. From the slides part I could say they are pretty awesome. Two of them you go with the lift and they are quite long with many turns. Three are at 2nd level and other 3 are at first level. If you want to take kids to a pool and slides for 1-2 days this place is good and very affordable.
Daniel G — Google review
I honestly expected more for that price. You enter, and then you have to pay for the sunbeds, and the parking, and the towels for the sauna. I liked the fact that it wasn't crowded at all, especially in the SPA area that belongs to the hotel. Loved the saunas, and the jacuzzi.
Ramona N — Google review
The slides are diverse enough, but quite outdated. They charge you for parking (2 eur/hour) and prices for beverages are quite high. All in all, I think there is better value for money in other hungarian waterparks. But still, a good place to chill and have fun with kids.
Iulian H — Google review
Really excellent day out. Not crowded at all on a weekday in August, many slides of various adrenaline levels, lazy river, “cave,” lots of interesting structures to swim through and around. No deep water other than under one particular slide, and that area is only reached via the slide itself (there’s another small slide going down from the landing area, so there’s no way for a child to suddenly find themselves in water over their head.) You get a digital “watch” at the entrance which grants access to various areas and also unlocks your locker (no coins required). “Safe deposit” boxes are also available for rental behind the desk if you want more security for your phone/passports. Multiple pools at different temperatures; huge indoor and outdoor spaces. Lots of available places to sit or lie down. We mostly stayed inside because of the blazing sun—there was more than enough to keep my kids busy without needing to bother every two hours with sunscreen. You’re supposed to wear flip flops whenever outside the pool but we didn’t have them and no one said anything. Well worth a trip to Szeged.

Still a good community place for science education. The building gives space for open air and in-house events. The building includes the "history of future" exhibition, which is a computer and mobile devices exhibition

A modern cultural and knowledge center of Szeged, with a decent computer-history exhibition. Science-themed events frequently held there.

The place has long opening hours, making it a great choice for groups or anyone craving delicious food beyond midnight. Recently repainted, this simple basement eatery boasts an amazing kitchen and is perfect for those looking to grab a quick and affordable bite.

13Pick Salami and Szeged Paprika Museum

Museum
The Pick Salami and Szeged Paprika Museum in Szeged, Hungary is a captivating destination that offers an immersive experience into the heritage and production of two renowned Hungarian delicacies. The museum, situated in the city center, showcases the history of the Pick Salami Factory, which is Hungary's leading meat industry. Visitors can explore exhibits detailing the origins of salami in Hungary and its journey from Italy.
The Pick Salami Factory, founded by Márk Pick in 1869 and located by the river Tisza in Szeged, is the largest brand-named meat industry in Hungary. It produces nearly 50,000 tons of meat each year, which includes Salami, Dried Sausage, Cold Cuts, Liver Paste, Frankfurter and Unique Pork Products, and exports to 35 countries. Within the premises is its two floor Pick Salami/Paprika Museum that tells the story of the Pick family and how Salami came to be in Hungary from its homeland of Italy. The story of Paprika is also told. The stories are told using photos and tableaux (doll figures representing a certain scene in the story) and via their online Written Guide. The first tableau for example, next to the museum entrance, shows a portrait of Márk Pick, his son Jenõ Pick and their biographies while the following tableaus (also on the first floor) show the developing stages of the meat industry and salami production after World War I. On the second (upper) floor the history of Szeged Paprika and its production is told. Just around the corner of, but still within, the factory is a small meat shop (Pick Húsáruház - Maros Utca 21) that sells discounted sausage, salami varieties, slabs of bacon and buckets of offal. You also get 10% discount on Pick Wintersalami when you present the 10% Discount voucher given to you when you paid the museum entrance fee. I found the Pick Museum to be one of Szeged's best tourist attractions in terms of them having an excellent website (in English) that told their story well, downloadable PDF guides in many languages (including French, German, Spanish and Italian), excellent customer service, a friendly welcome to the museum and an overall layout of the museum that made my visit a pleasant and interesting experience. When I visited there were many individual visitors and school tours that were genuinely taking interest in the stories (reading all the storyboards, etc). The actual family story, as well as the salami and paprika stories, are interesting and well told. As you go around the exhibits and read the various stories you become aware of the 'old fashioned' (non-technology) days whereby hard work was required to make a company successful. The storyboards tell of the various dissection and maturing processes needed for the meat, drying and string processes need for the paprika, the importance of the air-conditioning/cooling systems needed to produce all year round products (once seasonal products only), the need for modern technology/techniques and the huge importance of the soil, fertilisation and the river Tisza. If you are interested in knowing more about Szeged's history and/or want to know the fascinating story of something you would not normally take an interest in, I can highly recommend a visit to the Pick Museum. You only need 45-60 minutes, so it will be a nice excursion tour. I certainly enjoyed and appreciated their well presented exhibition and I am sure you would too. THE DIRECTIONS The pick salami museum is located close to the embankment of the river Tisza, not far from the Novotel (a 3 Minute walk). Trams #3 and #4 and bus #20 pass-by the Novotel (tram stop: Glattfelder Gyula Tér). You might go past the museum entrance by mistake, thinking it is a pub entrance or "that can not be it, surely", so look out for an entrance with the MÚZEUM sign within its doorway. The actual museum exhibition rooms are on the left-side. On the right-side of the main entrance is the Pick Pub/Restaurant, with function (events) rooms upstairs. When I visited there was a big event taking place upstairs, so do not make the 'tourist' mistake of going upstairs to view the function rooms just in case there is a funeral or wedding reception taking place for example.
Living H — Google review
Museum itself is small and I expected more but (with student discount) the entrace fee is okay. Receptionist was kind and helpful. Also we've got salami taster and few gifts for free.
Se V — Google review
This is a very poor museum and exhibit. Information is crammed in with tiny letters, in many the only way to read is getting close to the exhibit, but several areas ropes prevent getting close enough. There is simply too much information for the average museum goer to digest. Salami samples given are miniscule, paprika samples in tiny packages not much better. You can find a better thing to do for your money.
George E — Google review
Loved it! The exzibits are beautifully done, wish I had more time to stay to read everything! Would prefer if they had more place to sit for the people who wait in line
Jelena R — Google review
You get free szalami but its a very small museum so don't expect much in your visit. The person who was selling the tickets was very friendly and had very good customer care skills.
Mr M — Google review
Didnt go into the Museum but the connected grocery is worth a go. If you are looking for some souvenirs they do sell a paprika for 40 HUF and some fois gras. The paprika is lot cheaper compared to the hand packaged one Ive seen in Szeged.
Isabelle L — Google review
Must say museum is quite poor. Was expecting more. Also we got 10% discount coupon for branded Pick shop but prices there appeared to be way much more expensive vs ordinary shop prices....

Fountain Móra Ferenc Park in Szeged offers a captivating sight with its dancing water, making it a cool spot to visit. Whether it's the fun spectacle on cold days or the refreshing oasis for kids during hot summers, this place is a must-see. Visitors can enjoy the stunning view, especially in the sunlight and during evening hours. It's also a lovely place to unwind and relax, drawing admiration as a beautiful fountain that never fails to impress.
Nice location next to the museum, very enjoyable in the evening. There was a music water show with classical music that unfortunately got messed up by the super loud generic clubby music from the bar/restaurant under the bridge (Barka) which covered the classical music and broke the water show’s appeal.
