Art Museums
Nestled in the heart of downtown Cary, North Carolina, the Cary Arts Center stands as a vibrant beacon of creativity and cultural engagement. This beautifully restored historic building serves as a dynamic space for artistic expression, offering an array of classes and workshops that cater to all ages and skill levels. Visitors can immerse themselves in various art forms, from pottery and painting to theater productions and live concerts.
We are so incredibly blessed to have such an immense Arts Center subsidized by the town of Cary, and especially now that there is sufficient parking in the parking deck across the street behind the library. Pottery, woodworking, sewing, dancing, choir practice and public performances as well as private art openings all take place in this historic academy building.

Awesome venue!! All the seats are good seats!! Intimate venue with amazing acoustics. Parking not so great. However, once inside that all fades away!! The show was wonderful. I would definitely recommend the venue for any event. 5 star easily
Jef R — Google review
We saw a local performance of Grease here. The arts center is a very nice smaller venue for seeing theatrical performances so of course there’s not a bad seat in the house. Plus the staff was very kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Excellent exhibits and well equipped studios for all ages. Very friendly staff. Contemporary deco inside a traditional 1930s high school converted building.

Cary Arts Center has done an excellent job in upgrading their facility inside and outside. I have not visited since C-19 in March 2020 where I was supposed to perform in April 2020. It was delightful to view outside as well as inside. The environment was very clean, easily accessible to handicapped patrons and booster seats for small children to view the stage comfortably. The performers in Motown Sound of Music from Pure Life Theatre had great use of the large stage, concession stand availability, and an excellent system for scanning patrons' tickets in a timely manner. I highly recommend this facility for performances and special events.
Edith B — Google review
Fantastic venue for seeing a show with children. For 2 years we have had season tickets to the Family Series they offer. We also have taken our daughter to the condensed version of The Nutcracker. All of the performances are wonderful for young children. Our daughter was 5 and 6 the years we did this and they were perfect ages. Our favorite act from this past year was Bubble Trouble. So much fun!

AMAZING!!! I've been meaning to check it out for awhile now and had to use the restroom so I stopped in real quick. Well, was going to be real quick but ended up staying until close (was a little over two hours)..😂😂😂 Long story short, I can't wait until they open tomorrow. The photographs on the walls alone are worth the visit. It looks like it detail's a lot of history as well.
Jessica L — Google review
Today we had an orchestra concert hosted here, the experience is absolutely first class, the magnificent building with art pieces all around it. The auditorium is equipped with amazing huge background display, which gives superb performance environment for our concert. My daughter’s ballet dance school hosts annual recital performance here, we enjoyed each time very much. Cary elementary is beside it, parking is very relaxing during the weekend. It is spring now, love the plants and flowers too. Feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful facility in the town of Cary.

The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. It boasts a diverse permanent collection spanning 5,000 years, along with captivating traveling exhibits. The museum's outdoor monument park and amphitheater offer a unique experience, featuring fan-favorite installations like the sci-fi rings, mirror labyrinth, Hobbit house, musical swings, and statues.
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the museum and the artworks it exhibit. It was one of the best art museums in world, I’d reckon. It is well lit with a good combination of natural light and artificial light. There is enough space for visitors to see the artwork properly without disturbing each other or coming in each other‘s way. The artwork itself is good blend modern and traditional art. The exhibits are done with different mediums, which I really loved. There is tonnes of greenery and nature to enjoy art. There cafeteria was also great. There were things for kids to do. I would easily come to this museum with a picnic basket and spend my day here. Can’t believe this museum is free.
Nitka M — Google review
The North Carolina Museum of Art is an outstanding cultural destination that blends art, nature, and community. The permanent collection is beautifully curated, offering a wide range of works from European classics and African art to modern and contemporary pieces. Each gallery is spacious, thoughtfully arranged, and enhanced with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors. The museum park is equally impressive, with miles of walking and biking trails accented by large-scale outdoor sculptures. It provides a unique opportunity to enjoy art in a natural setting, making the museum experience extend beyond the building itself. Staff and volunteers are consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming, which adds to the overall positive experience. Another highlight is that admission to the permanent collection is free, making the museum highly accessible to the public while still offering high-quality exhibitions and events. Overall, the North Carolina Museum of Art sets a high standard for museums in the region. It is a place where art and community intersect in a meaningful way, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living in North Carolina.

This is a beautiful art museum! And it’s free. Except for some special exhibits. But the large portion of it is free. And stunning. The building itself is beautiful and they have some wonderful pieces. I was not expecting for this place to be so big. I will be back.
Andrea M — Google review
This is an amazing museum and we didn’t get to explore all of it because of how huge it is. We love art so we spent about 3 hours walking around learning & looking at African American art, European art, WWII art, Christian art, and many more other powerful artistic pieces with a historical background. The museum is absolutely free to explore which is great but no food and drinks inside the place. There’s about 2-3 different buildings to go into.
Carlos B — Google review
The free night event was wonderful. Plenty of exhibits . A variety of mediums. A quiet ,clean friendly atmosphere and plenty of on-site parking. The special exhibit...The book of Esther was informative and well put together. The African American exhibit was full of color and very eye-catching. The various mediums (wood, wire, paper, metal)will keep a person intrigued. There are benches throughout for time to reflect or just rest. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There is a gift shop with a variety of items for sell such as books, jewelry, artwork and trinkets. There is also a dress up photo opportunity near the book of Esther exhibit.

On Sunday I went to experience the walking trails at the NC Museum of Art, and loved it! There are so many interesting art pieces in view while walking! The paths are measured and posted in the Welcome Center area and also on the Blue Path (sponsored by BCBS). I posted an image of that map. It felt safe with families, couples, and singles all around. I ended up walking on most of the paths, and it tired me out. Luckily, I was parked in the edge by the entrance with the Reedy Creek stoplight on Blue Ridge Road. A plethora of parking there!!! So great!

I love the museum park and all the installations and sculptures. Love the landscaping too. I love the design of the west building. Not so much about the collections though. Highly recommend the museum park. There is similar museum park which is the Glenstone Museum in Maryland.

JC Raulston Arboretum, located near downtown Raleigh, is a 10-acre retreat at NC State University offering free admission. The internationally renowned garden features over 6,000 different plants from around the world and has grown from eight to ten acres since its founding in the 1970s. With themed gardens and extensive plant collections, it's a perfect spot for nature lovers and couples seeking a picturesque backdrop for photoshoots.
Beautiful place! We attended a wedding here and it was beautiful! The wedding was at 5 pm and it was super hot but the trees and foliage did provide some shade. The visitors center was nice The reception was held there. It was cool a safe haven from the heat. This is a lovely place, and I will definitely return just to visit. It's a great place to take professional pictures. There are so many different areas and flowers. Water features and all kinds of good things. The space is beautiful, but i do not have the constant from the couple to post their pictures, so this is all I could share. They even had a memorial there that day.

A beautiful garden. They are many spots and plants. Flowers, trees , beautiful paths . You can spend an hour or two to fully explore and enjoy the place . Have your water with you as they don't have anything in the store

This small arboretum is such a charmer. It’s a delightful place to take a walk and explore plants. Because it seeks to determine the viability of new introductions in our area it’s also great for professionals seeking to expand their plant palette. Besides, it has my favorite Japanese maple in the world. I was surprised to see the lathe house has been largely rebuilt, and the White Garden has a new fountain.

A FIVE STAR visit to Raleigh’s nationally acclaimed JC Raulston Arboretum, located on Beryl Road near the intersection of I-440 and Hillsborough Street. First-time visitors should use GPS to easily find Beryl Road. The stainless steel main entrance is stunning, and the meticulously maintained grounds are truly impressive. Bring snacks or a meal, take a break, and enjoy walking through one of North Carolina’s largest and most diverse collections of landscape plants! Admission is FREE, and the gardens are open 365 days a year—yes, every single day!
Robert B — Google review
Went here on a Saturday morning and no line to enter, also no admittance fee! This is excellent that these beautiful gardens are open to the public. Today, there were multiple weddings hosted here and what a beautiful venue. Would we return to JC Raulston Arboretum? Absolutely yes! Plus we're going to visit every season and look into volunteering.
Moody F — Google review
We stopped at the arboretum on a spring road trip and I'm so glad we did. The flowers, bushes and trees were stunning as they were beginning to grow and bloom. We got so many amazing photos and the walk was so pleasurable and the scents of some of the flowers, like the Korean Spice Viburnum were intoxicating!!! A must stop during spring and they didn't charge for admission.
Hoffmans S — Google review
I had my wedding at the arboretum, and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The staff is kind, professional, and helped make my wedding perfect. It also helps that the gardens are a beautiful backdrop. The Arboretum is a wonderful place to visit and explore.

Nature & Parks
Fred G. Bond Metro Park, nestled in Cary, NC just outside of Raleigh, is a sprawling 310-acre recreational haven. The park boasts a picturesque 55-acre lake where visitors can enjoy fishing and boating activities. Additionally, the park offers an array of amenities such as playgrounds, picnic shelters, athletic fields, and hiking trails that wind through wooded areas and open fields. For those seeking more adventurous activities, there's a challenge course available for group reservations.
A mid-large sized park with plenty of running/biking trails and a lake with easy access for rafting (which can also be rented at the boathouse). The lake trail is nice (a 2 mile loop that goes through around the lake and through some hilly, knobbly terrain). Parking for easy access to trails is available at the community center and the boathouse (which also has a nice boardwalk + picnicking area)
E T — Google review
Really fun park! There’s two separate playground areas (little kids and big kids), it’s shaded nicely during most of the day, and within walking distance of the playground you can get to the lake! There’s also a sand pit by the playgrounds that gets good shade and lots of trails to walk.
Lizz M — Google review
It's big!! The actual park for kids to play is a short drive in the park. You'll pass fields, parking lots and trails. There is a senior center. The whole park is so clean and nice. It's a great place for events, there is a baseball field and events center . It's one of the best places that I've gone to for walking trails.

Oh my god ! This park is my peaceful zone..I love to go in evening its so serene and peaceful . They have amazing kids park area , boat house runway trail and amphitheater. Adding few pic which will push you to visit soon.

Very clean and peaceful park. Concession stand, restrooms, and paddle boat/paddle board rentals. Lots of areas to walk, picnic, or play games/sports.

We went for boating on Sunday and there were not a lot of people so we got a paddle boat with canopy and went around the lake. Nice sunny, breezy weather for boating. Hiked a little. A very large nice grassy area perfect for kite flying. Our go to picnic area for quick weekend outing.
Meenakshi Y — Google review
Very nice park! There are many trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Lots of shaded trails to help beat the heat

Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve in Cary is a 140-acre park featuring a 3-mile trail system with scenic overlooks, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The preserve, established 40 years ago, is named after the nearly 200 Eastern Hemlock trees found here. The trails wind through upland forests with ridges, ravines, and creeks, offering picturesque views over the bluffs and bench seating for moments of solitude.
This is probably the best trail that my kids and myself has gone on. You really are surrounded by nature and all of its beauty. Please read the info about the copperhead snakes and safety. *Be careful on the stairs*
Anjelica R — Google review
I went to this park today. It is very quiet, pet-friendly, and the scenery is beautiful. The most important thing is that the plants are tall and will not be directly exposed to sunlight. It is very cool. The only bad thing is that it's too small.
JUAN J — Google review
This park offers beautiful trails that are perfect for a relaxing walk or a bit of exercise. While some areas may be challenging for those who have difficulty with stairs, I always enjoy my time here and love spending time outdoors in such a pleasant setting.
Mariana P — Google review
The walking trails are well maintained, with three short routes to choose from. However, be sure to bring bug repellent—the mosquitoes were numerous and made it hard to fully enjoy the experience.
Veronika M — Google review
Lovely little park with charming trails that are relatively easy, other than stairs. All shaded and a great nature center as well.
Adriane M — Google review
Hemlock Bluffs is a great place to walk. They have many hiking trails free for anyone to use. They are moderate in skill level. A good time to hike the trails is in the fall. They offer educational classes which are very fun for young children.
Addie P — Google review
Very beautiful park. Small and easy trails, a lot being on a board walk and under the shade of trees. Small nature center and clean restrooms.
Anna F — Google review
I recently walked the trails of Hemlock Bluffs and was very impressed with several things. The new trail signs, new tree & site identification info posts, replaced lumber on the boardwalk, handrails and lookouts, excellent, easy to read map of the park in 2 strategic places, additional trash cans, clear instructions for visitors and their dog cleanup responsibilities, wide, mulched paths and clean restrooms. Uncle Walter and Aunt Emily Stevens would be VERY pleased to see their park so well taken care of and the steady stream of adults, kids, and dogs who fill the park from its daily opening until closing. Thank you very mulch. It's a jewel of a Cary park!!

Performing arts theater
The Cary Theater, a historic cinema dating back to 1946, has undergone a remarkable transformation. After changing hands and serving various purposes over the years, it was eventually repurchased and restored to its former glory. Today, it operates as an art house cinema showcasing independent and foreign films while also functioning as a live music venue. The theater hosts film festivals and live performances, making it a cultural hub in Cary.
Went to watch Shin Godzilla (2016). The theater was very clean, the staff were really nice, and the tickets are a really good deal too! I paid a bit over $6 per ticket for a 5 PM showtime. Parking might be a bit tough since it's in downtown Cary. The theater is connected to a cafe so you can get coffee and snacks there. Overall would definitely go again!
Alexis A — Google review
I went to see Amy Bruni here tonight and had a great experience! The theater is small and cozy and the staff were all so nice. I highly recommend coming here!
Kaitlyn P — Google review
Always a good experience. If you're tall like me (6'2") you'll want to arrive as early as possible to jockey for some of the non-reserved folding chair seating as the normal rows are a little claustrophobic with long legs.
J W — Google review
The parking situation is awful here. Come early because it's going to take you some time to find a spot. The theatre is comfortable and the projection and sound systems are state of the art. The schedule of upcoming films is impressive. We'll be back.
Jay D — Google review
A great little community theater plays all types of movies. Seats are comfortable, sound is good, and the snacks are tasty.
Aaron H — Google review
The theater is cute, well maintained and staff was very kind. The show I went to see had the host sitting in the far left of the stage, I had left balcony seats. The entire show I could not see the speaker from my seat, I just had to listen to the person speak. I recommend putting speakers in the middle of the stage so all seats can enjoy seeing them perform!

La Farm Bakery is a modern-day boulangerie located in downtown Cary, offering a variety of breads, pastries, croissants, cookies, tarts and cakes. The bakery is known for producing 15 different styles of bread using a European-style hearth oven. Founded by master baker Lionel Vatinet and Miss Vatinet in 1999, the bakery aims to honor centuries-old baking traditions without the use of preservatives or artificial ingredients.
In this pastry shop/bakery I want to try everything. The bread looks great, challahs, croissants, cookies, cakes! On a sunday morning there were a little too many people here, but that's understandable. However it did not feel overwhelming - you could find free tables to sit both inside and outside the cafe. We tried the mango cake - very tender and tasty. The cappuccino was wonderful and the morning sandwich was delicious. I will definitely come back to try the croissants and the chocolate pudding cake.
Natalya M — Google review
I like coming here, but I feel like it has gone up in price/value. $3.99 for a soft drink is outrageous. The bakery items are so yummy, I next time I will just get a water. Also, the value you get for the breakfast sandwich is not there. I paid over $20 for the food you see in the photo. 🤦‍♂️

From Le Farm to Panera Bread... While going through an interview for a job at Le Farm as a teenager I was asked by the owner back then if I knew what it meant to be "Dynamic". I didn't which made sense as I was 16 and far from what the owner was looking for. The place was booming and the owner certainly knew what he was doing - that and quality was a really high priority... 22 years later I returned to the same location excited to see the changes had occurred over the years. I went with my parents and we ordered an Apple Almond tart, a "brownie", cheesecake, two lattes and a cappuccino. The place did not age well. The apple tart was once frozen and dethawed, with the cake portion being a mash of fat and sugar. No fluffiness, no fresh apples, or light crust. The brownie was essentially a frosting - likely also frozen oder left refrigerated cold. The cheesecake was a bit more redeemable, though basically a lot of sugar. Then there was the coffee. This was probably the most ridiculous coffee experience Ive ever had in my life. After looking at my "cappuccino", I saw it was simply coffee with milk. So I went to the barista and said there must have been a mistake. She said "Oh I made a cortado" 😂 (please Google a Cortado if you're unfamiliar) Then I went back to my table and saw my parents staring at their "lattes" which too were coffee and milk. So I went to the barista and said "I think there was a mistake here too, we ordered two lattes." Her response "Those are lattes." I replied "This is coffee with milk." Then came the best part. She said again "Those are lattes" and the kicker, "If I did them again you will get the same thing". Puzzled and a little entertained I took the "lattes" back. Then after a moment I got my fixed "cappuccino", which was half an inch of super heated, over-frothed milk. I tried it , took some more nibbles of my dethawed Apple Tart and threw both in the trash where it belonged. I can't speak for everything in Le Farm and quality of all its products, but "Jack of all trades and master of none" seems the most fitting here - except the bread! Gotta pay respect where it is due but if you visit the location, stick to the bread - (maybe) sandwiches? - and spare yourself the disappointment of thinking the pastries are authentic or good... Alternatively, every time you have the urge to go there put the money in a jar, save a few years, and fly to France to have a frame of reference to how horrendous the pastries in Le Farm are.
Alexander L — Google review
Ohhhh it’s cuteeee! I love it. Very fancy schmancy pants for a little bakery. We got an assortment of treats and I got a coffee, a caramel latte with 2 shots and guess what?! It tastes like the coffee in Seattle! By far the best cup of coffee I’ve had in North Carolina so far. This is a new favorite spot for sure. My only little complaint, for this amount of money, the staff needs to ask if you want any of your items heated up. We ate cookies and a dill scone and a few bites of our blueberry scone, all would have been better heated up. Next time I’ll ask. 3 months later update- still love it! Wish the employees didn't seem like they hate being here...but the coffee is perfect!
Melissa S — Google review
This is one of our family’s favorite spots for all things bread and breakfast. We always make a stop here whenever we’re in the area. In the morning, there are usually plenty of tables available, so we’ve never had to wait for a seat. The food always comes out fresh, hot and delicious, with plenty of sweets and savory items to satisfy every craving. We especially loved our breakfast and chocolate eclair, though we did find the coffee eclair a bit disappointing. It dry and tasted like it was not fresh.
Dee D — Google review
I came here as an all-day breakfast lover and really enjoyed the watermelon cucumber mint drink—super refreshing! The cheddar melt on sourdough was lovely, though it could have used a bit more seasoning. The side salad with house dressing was also tasty. I was disappointed not to be able to try the quiche, since the staff couldn’t confirm what type of flour it’s made with but did mention it’s locally sourced. I’m gluten intolerant but can usually have sourdough or certain organic/imported flours, and more clarity would really help those of us with dietary restrictions. I did grab the chocolate almond French tea cakes to try at home so I can monitor any reaction, but it would have been nice to enjoy more options while dining in. The herb spread for the sourdough is only available as a $9.99 full container and not as a side option with a meal—I would have loved to add it to my bread (even as an up charge) without having to purchase the whole thing as I have a two hour ride home. Still, overall I enjoyed the experience and would definitely return.
Leigh T — Google review
By far, the highest quality brunch, lunch bakery in NC. Everything, is elevated, nothing is as simple as you may envision because you can take the caliber and care in every dish. It is honestly a treat, it's not just a stop. The prices can seem high on your first visit, but once any of their products touch your tongue you will instantly understand that it's a bargain and worth so so much more.

Koka Booth Amphitheatre is an outdoor music venue located in Cary, North Carolina, just outside of Raleigh. Situated in a serene 14-acre pine woodland next to Symphony Lake, the amphitheater offers a picturesque setting for enjoying live performances and movie screenings. With a capacity of 7,000 people, it hosts around 60 events annually from April to January.
Amazing experience at this nature based venue. Me and my wife were very impressed with everything from ease of parking to how beautiful the venue was. The show was amazing and even with lawn seats we were so close. This will be our venue of choice!

Great venue! We visited for the Chinese Lantern Festival and really enjoyed the show. Plenty of parking available, very friendly staff checking in/scanning tickets and running security. After entering, we purchased some food and drinks- all actually reasonably priced for an event space. I got a canned bubbly wine for $10 and we also got some onion rings and apple pie dumplings. Nice to be able to fill up without spending an arm and a leg. The light displays and live performances were great too, very entertaining. I would definitely recommend the lantern festival and I'd come here for a concert too!

Our second and third show here we showed up much earlier so the trees weren’t in our view as pictured. Getting to be in the pines was magic (and smelled amazing.) Loved being able to bring our own chairs to the lawn! Small purses allowed. Curious turtles in the pond by the smoking section. Shuttles to the gate from the back of the parking lot were readily available! The last star isn’t there because of how incredibly long it took the line to move to get inside… definitely the kind of place you want to show up to with plenty of time.

Koka Booth Ampitheatre is my absolute favorite concert venue in the Triangle. There is something so magical about sitting under the stars and soaring pines while listening to the extraordinary music of some of the most talented artists in the world! I highly recommend Koka Booth to any music lover!

The experience was absolutely amazing! It was my first time attending a Chinese Lantern Festival, and it far exceeded my expectations. The lantern displays were incredibly detailed and beautifully crafted, showcasing a level of artistry that was truly stunning. On top of that, the festival did an excellent job of introducing traditional Chinese culture. The performances were fantastic, and the Sichuan face-changing act left a lasting impression. It was a perfect blend of art, culture, and entertainment!

Absolutely worth a visit. Our party of four bought our tickets in advance for the 4:30 entrance on Sunday, December 1, 2024. We arrived at the parking lot around 4:15. The crowds were light. We watched the first show which was amazing. Thank goodness we bundled up so we were comfortable. We left the park around 6:30 and had no problem with traffic. However, there was lots of traffic coming into the park.

Love this venue! Every year there are always 1-2 artists or events that are relevant to my taste. I highly recommend but make sure you plan enough time for parking. Not always the easiest for certain shows. John Legend show was very difficult for parking, whereas the Chinese Lantern Festival had no issues at all.

Before I give it a review, I did get take out an hour before closing, so not the freshest of fresh. But overall the food here is very subpar. I got 4 different entrees and basically all of them were pretty bland. The Black Bean Burger was alright, nothing to boast about. The Reuben Sandwich, which is particularly small. The Old School Philly sandwich, which the meat was dry and wasn’t flavorful. And The Birria Tacos which without the sauce weren’t too delightful. The sides were ok, Mac & cheese and fries were good. The Cole slaw was not great. My girftiend got the roasted fish tacos which were pretty bland also.

Tried this place one last time. This is their Philadelphia Chicken Cheesesteak as it was delivered to my table. Any amateur can make a better one than that effort. Sad because I want to support local but can’t when Arby’s probably would do a better job. The pub wings were ok.
Rand C — Google review
The wings that were advertised were not the wings that I got. I got one flat and the rest were all drums, which I do not mind too much… but they were so stingy with the ranch for so many wings.

We recently visited Crosstown Pub and had an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, we were immediately greeted and made to feel welcome. What really stood out to me was that they brought out water and treats for our puppy, showing just as much concern for him as they did for us. This level of hospitality definitely made our visit extra special. As for the food, it was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the fried tomato sandwich, which was bursting with flavor. The steak fries were also excellent and cooked to perfection. The menu had a great selection of dishes, and we were impressed with the quality of every meal we tried. In terms of the atmosphere, Crosstown Pub had lots of seating areas to have a drink and hang out with friends. It was the perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon meal. I ordered a gin tonic which was expertly made and absolutely delicious. Overall, we had an excellent dining experience at Crosstown Pub. The service was top-notch, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great meal in a friendly environment.

Food was great for the price, atmosphere was chill, but our waiters seemed almost annoyed to be serving us? Weird vibe. And it was several people too. Didn’t greet us, thank us for coming in, ask how our food was, and the servers kept passing our table to each other. So strange. Left a bad taste in my mouth (not the food, of course!)

We were looking for a late night dinner and found this spot! I loved the fried green tomato sandwich and the buffalo shrimp. I tried the tomato rice and was a little disappointed. Service was great, though! Also the apple crisp we had for dessert was really good as well. We came back with my boyfriend’s dad and I tried the fish and chips this time. They lived up to their fame, although they took a very long time to come out. Another time, I got the kielbasa and cheese. The cheese was so so but the sausage was delicious! Their Shepherd’s pie for March is pretty good! Hearty and filling

Nature & Parks
Lake Crabtree County Park, located between Cary, Morrisville, and Raleigh, is the first county park in the Raleigh area. It offers 16 miles of hiking and biking trails that wind through the woods and around a 520-acre lake. The Lake Trail is a six-mile loop that takes hikers close to the water's edge at times and farther into the woods at others.
We loved our visit to Lake Crabtree. We visited to see the sunset. You can view from many spots across the water. There is pier for fishing. There is a spot from which you can rent boats. There is a volleyball court and a large grassy area. There are two parking areas. The first has a small pebbly surface. We were on a motorcycle so not great. The second parking lot is for the pier and is paved. Public restrooms are available. There is a small building that you can climb to second story for another view of the lake. Highly recommend this park. It is truly beautiful and well cared for.

Mr. D — Google review
Did not feel welcomed. I enjoyed a long walk around the lake. I had lunch at a picnic table overlooking the lake. It was lovely. I went back to my van to relax and read a book. Since the lot was empty I moved to a corner, yes I was taking up 2 spots so my side door could look out at the woods. If people started to arrive I would have moved back to normal parking. I'm only 19 feet long and fit in a parking space. A woman came to my door and rudely said "excuse me, you need to move, this is event parking and there's going to be an event later." I said ok I'll be leaving in a little while. She said "you need to move to the RV parking lot you can't stay here" I ignored her. I never saw signs for "RV parking" and I'm really just a van. She definitely ruined my peace and tranquility I was having at your park.

This is a wonderful place. Beautiful lake, lots of space for a picnic, grills, gazebos, tables. Several playgrounds. A small but beautiful beach with boat rentals. Lots of parking. There is a net for volleyball. I have been there several times, including on weekends, but there are always not many people, it is very comfortable to relax. Only one drawback is the snakes, you have to be careful. Thanks to the staff for keeping order in this park. I definitely recommend it!

Such a cool place way to go Cary . A great use of space to bring the very diverse community. It's perfect for everyone of every age . I love the seating areas placed around the whole park the big open field of soft grass for picnics and children playing or just sitting peacefully enjoying the beautiful landscape. The splash pads are genius , and the play area is a must for parents with kids toddler and up . Maybe even the grown ups can go down the metal slides for nastalgia. It was the perfect date night and so beautiful at night with lights and even color changing water fountain. You got a check it out .

The best park I have been to in NC hands down. Kids playground, dog parks (small and large dogs), golf, table tennis, foosball, picnic areas, food trucks, coffeeshop, a small lake, sky bridge, water fountain, You name it! 🤩 There is no other place I would rather go to. (Search for Esteemed Coffee coffee shop. It’s walking distance and has amazing options, and is a nonprofit beautiful idea) Anyway, go there! Especially the holiday season 😍 It gets unbelievably magical.

Annelore's German Bakery is a refined and traditional bakery located on the edge of downtown Cary. Inspired by Munich and Viennese pastry shops, this bakery offers a variety of freshly baked goods based on old-world family recipes. The menu includes over 6 styles of artisanal bread, traditional German pastries, cookies, gluten-free options like macarons and almond orange cake, as well as meringues. Ingredients such as chocolate and flour are imported from Germany to ensure authenticity.
Germany Bakery in Cary is a hidden gem! Fresh bread, delicious pastries, and authentic German treats. Plus, it's a great spot to meet friends or study—cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be back! (With these beautiful treats, we hope to have more beverage options to enjoy with the pastries, like cappuccino…)

I had a wonderful experience at this bakery. The pastries are absolutely delicious, fresh, and noticeably free from the overly sweet artificial taste you often find in American style treats. Everything tasted homemade and thoughtfully prepared. I would recommend sticking to the chilled items though, as the warm options were not quite hot enough for my liking. The cakes are truly exceptional and definitely a must try. Especially the apple one.

There’s plenty of parking and a wide variety of both sweet and savory options. Prices are reasonable, and everything feels freshly made. I tried the pumpkin chocolate chip scone — it had just the right amount of sweetness and wasn’t too dry. Definitely worth a visit!
Veronika M — Google review
I paid $9 for a “pimento pretzel croissant.” I’ve traveled and been to some incredible bakeries, and $9 usually gets you the best of the best. Most expensive pastries run around $6–7. At the farmer’s market, there were no prices listed. I ordered the croissant, and before I even had a chance to react, she said it was $9. I paid, tried it, and it was stale—absolutely not worth the price. I went back to share my disappointment, and the only response I got was, “Well, they were made this morning.” That was it. Terrible customer service. Do not waste your money. I can’t speak on the storefront, but the farmer’s market experience was subpar. If you’re charging like it’s the best of the best, the product should come close. This was nowhere near.

With its 153rd edition scheduled for October 15-25, 2020, the fair promises something for everyone.
One of the best events that happens every year. The food it amazing the rides are always fun and thrilling. And it I like to finish my nights off with the 15 minutes fireworks show that happens every day at 9:45 over the little pond. Best place to go on dates or friends or with family. Definitely willing to go every year.

I love going to the NC State Fair with my friends in the fall!! I went for the first time last year, and it was so much more fun than I actually expected. There are countless vendors for all different things, definitely something for everyone. I loved getting to try all the different foods. My favorite was the brisket mac and cheese, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting it again this year. I also tried fried cookie dough with ice cream, which was very good as well. Even after being there for a couple of hours, we didn't even get to see all of the Fair, which is cool to think about because there is just so much to enjoy. Overall, the Fair was such a fun and memorable experience, especially with friends. I felt safe while I was there, which I can't say about some other fairs I have been to before. The only annoying thing about the Fair is the traffic it creates, especially because I live near the area, but traffic is everywhere, any time of year. (PRT 220 NCSU)

This was my 3rd year attending the NC State Fair and possibly my last. The fair has become overrun over the past few years due to all the gentrification in Raleigh. We visited today, a Monday and arrived ahead of the lunch hour at 11:15. We parked at the Reedy Creek Bandwidth Free Parking Shuttle lot. It was very well organized and the staff was kind. There was a short walk to Gate 8 from Carter Finley. We visited the Flower Show and Gardens area first. This is my favorite part of the fair. I look forward to the exhibits and winners every year ! The Gardens are relaxing and a great way to beat the overstimulating crowds. Afterwards we stopped at Al’s Fries 🍟 and ordered a hot dog and Italian sausage for lunch. For dessert I had a slice of banana pudding cake from Favor Cakes. We sat down and ate in peace on the Grandstand stadium near Al’s. All of these eats were local to one another. My daughter had a cup of Esquite Corn elote from Oh My Churro. Very overpriced. We spent about $70 between us with desserts, drinks and snacks. I advise you pack a thermos of ice water and maybe even pack your own lunch to save money. You can enjoy it at the Grandstand and beat the crowds. This year was too crowded to enjoy. Also with some new changes to the Fair, it was underwhelming. It was a great way to get in over 12,000 steps for the day however. Small wins.
Mariss — Google review
So you order your tickets ahead of time and then you have to wait in line for over 30 minutes to get them. Not to mention the 45 minutes you have to wait in line just to get into the fair. They need way more people working here. Then once you get your tickets, more long lines for the rides. 1 bottle of Deer Park water is $5.00! Not sure if I’ll come back.
Becky H — Google review
Our family has been coming to the state fair for years. This year we arrived early before the gates opened, and the line near the lakes was about 10x longer than ever before. We walked to a different gate which was significantly shorter. Even arriving early (which has historically allowed good access to most vendors and activities) lines were excessive (10 people for cider, 100 people for donuts, 10 people for coffee). Nearly everything is an additional charge now. The dirt stadium tickets were an additional $11 per person for events there. While we saw 2 live musicians, there were no shows running. The "history of distilling" was just a mixed drink station. Basically most of the experience has become longer lines, higher costs, and extra costs for things that used to be educational or promotional for the state or for agriculture. Food costs seemed 30% higher than the last time we went. Basically plan on $14-$20 for a protein and a side, and $5-$10 for a drink. I think some of the specialty items are now $25. The best areas are still the plant and animal areas, but even those felt increasingly buried behind more high cost food and stuffed animal vendors. For the entrance cost, the experience did not feel worth it for our family.
Team B — Google review
So you order your riding tickets early and then there are only about four Green tents throughout the entire fair. So you have to wait in line about 30 minutes just to get the tickets. You have to wait another 30 to 40 minutes in line just to get into the fair. They need more people working. Not sure if I’ll ever come back.
Becky H — Google review
The State Fair this year was great but expensive. I guess the Tariffs got the fair also. Turkey Legs $20 , Funnel Cake $10 . Sites and the people were fun to watch, oh the roasted corn down by the village of yester years. Still the same delicious. Go enjoy
Sheer C — Google review
The rides were fun and the food was tasty. However, I don't think we will be back. Parking is absolutely ridiculous. Same as the price of the fair itself. $50 for parking ( If you can even find somewhere) , then $13 for tickets each, then additional money for rides?? Not to even mention lines for rides were very confusing. You couldnt tell where the beginning or ending of one was. Altogether, just very unorganized. I understand this is a "state fair" but to spend this amount of money, the bar should exceed higher.

The popular southern restaurant, Scratch Kitchen & Taproom, recently opened a new location in downtown Cary. Offering delicious options like smoked pork mac and cheese, a waffle-battered crispy chicken sandwich, a truffle mac and cheeseburger, and Carolina slaw po' boy, you won't be disappointed!
Tonight's dinner was at @scratchkitchennc! I took my mom here for dinner tonight and she loved it. I have been here before, I just forgot to post/review it! It was so good! Drinks: BLACK SESAME OLD FASHIONED Bourbon, Black Sesame, Homemade Orange Bitters, and Sesame Seed Rim Lagerfest Oktoberfest Marzen App: SMOKED PIMENTO CHEESE WONTONS House-smoked pimento cheese with sweet corn and scallions. Served with red pepper jam. Main: NY STRIP STEAK Seared NY Strip with caramelized onion miso butter, sake jus, smoked cheddar potato au gratin, and spicy candied bacon collard greens. This did not disappoint! They give you a little bowl of their housemade chex mix when you sit down and place your order. It is good and seasoned well. The Sesame Old Fashioned was one of the best old fashioneds I have had so far. I loved the sesame garnished rim. The beer was great too! Full of flavor and brewed nearby. The smoked pimento wontons were super tasty. I mean, who doesn't love pimento cheese?! I also love a good pepper jam. The steak was cooked to my preference, medium, lol. The compound butter on top added a great umami and taste to the outside of the steak. The potatoes were amazing. Creamy and cheesy! My favorite part... the collards, lol. I FREAKIN LOVE collards. The candied bacon made them sweet, which is different than what I am used to, but I loved it! I got every last piece of bacon out of the bowl along with drinking the little bit of pot liquor at the bottom of the bowl. Don't judge me. 😂 All in all, it was another great experience! The ambience of this place is great. The lighting, the fireplace, and the bar are all so cool looking. The service was great and the server was attentive. This is a great local spot you should stop by if you are in the area. Or, make the drive out.

The jammin burger was fantastic. Potato salad was pretty decent. The fries were good but a little too salty. I didn’t give it five stars because the service started out good and then once we got the food, there wasn’t a good follow up. We asked for a couple more beers and they never came until after they cleared the table and gave us a check. Probably waited 15 minutes to 20 minutes and we weren’t gonna say anything and just forget about them and then they bring them out when we’re ready to leave. Sitting in the tent area outside , temperature was fine, but it was so loud when the tables were full you could barely hear each other.

My husband & I grabbed dinner here for a date night & loved the atmosphere. The food was also delicious; we ordered the wonton dip to start, then my husband ordered a burger, I ordered the steak, & we were both too stuffed for dessert. It's a bit of a drive for us, but we would definitely eat here again if we were close by!

Situated on a quaint little street in Apex, Scratch Kitchen & Taproom offers foods that will please a variety of palates. Parking is free for three hours along spots on the backside of the restaurant. The brick, and stone walls with wooden beams overhead creates a welcoming aesthetic. A nice blend of old and new. Add your name to the list for seating and wait at the adjoining lounge across the hall where you can order drinks and appetizers or wait on wooden benches lining the corridor. Seating is both inside and out. The food was visually appealing, but some meals lacked the right balance. For appetizers, we ordered the Barbecue Egg Rolls and the Scratch Fries. There were six rolls and they were delicious. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Paired with a sauce that gives it a bit of a kick, you'll want to dip these for the full effect. The fries are not recommended; smothered in sauce, they became soggy and the shredded ribeye on top was unappetizing. For meals, we tried the Buddha Bowl and substituted the tofu for grilled chicken. This bowl was a healthy option. The Truffle Mac and Cheese Burger with fries were good portion sizes, but both were over seasoned with pepper and spices. In addition, the Blues Mac & Cheese was overpowered with the cheese sauce. The Curry Lo Mein had good noodles and taste, but the meat was overcooked and rubbery. The Flank Steak Salad was a good salad. (Next time, I'd pair it with the grilled chicken because the steak was chewy and I'd ask for more dressing.) Otherwise, the peaches, cranberries and onion straws added nice texture and taste. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was filling and cooked well. Served with fries, these were again, over spiced. We tried a feature dessert, the Baked Alaska. Topped with a marshmallow meringue, and vanilla ice cream, this thin layer of cake is paired with a light blueberry sauce. Worth it, if you've never had it, otherwise try some homemade ice cream down the road.

Scratch has such a warm, cozy farm-style vibe, even down to the cheese-grater light fixtures over the bar, which were such a clever and charming touch. The food and service were excellent from start to finish. We ordered the Scratch Steak & Eggs for brunch — Korean-marinated flank steak, two sunny-side-up eggs, breakfast potatoes, and toasted local sourdough. Every bite was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. To finish, we shared the Coco Seduction dessert — a dreamy combination of chocolate mousse, graham cracker tuille, white-chocolate truffle, and chocolate-dipped marshmallow — paired with cranberry mimosas, of course! It was the perfect Saturday girls’ brunch before a day of shopping. Cozy atmosphere, creative menu, and genuinely great service. We’ll definitely be back!

Mexican restaurant
Nestled in Cary, El Amigo Mexican Restaurant is a charming family-owned gem that promises an authentic taste of Mexico. Although I’ve only had the pleasure of dining here once, my experience was delightful. The guacamole and chips paired beautifully with tacos, and I've heard nothing but rave reviews about their entire menu. The unique service model requires you to order and pay at the counter before enjoying your meal at a cozy table—definitely a refreshing twist!
WOW!!!! The food is freaking delicious and Authentic! We love Mexican food and El Amigo’s is the real deal. The empanadas are hands down the best we’ve found around here. The chicken burrito is 10/10! Salsa is fresh and authentic. Service is outstanding. We will definitely be back very soon!

Finally stopped in. This place has been numerous restaurants throughout the years. Every time I drive by it’s quite busy for lunch and dinner. Plenty of free parking. You walk up to the counter and order and they will bring your food out to you. Really enjoyed our food , with the exception of the salsa that came with the side of chips (not included in meal). The salsa was tasteless. It looked good and had good consistency but both my wife and I felt it was completely tasteless. I noticed another table that didn’t hardly touch their bowl of salsa and left it behind. The main meals were fantastic taste wise. A bit odd that a burrito comes with either a little small side salad or french fries versus your typical rice and beans. But good taste. We would both eat there again just avoid paying for the salsa

Delicious homemade Mexican food at reasonable prices with lots of great options. I love their fresh salsas! They also made sure my food items did not have cheese or cream, as I have a dairy allergy. Friendly staff and outdoor patio is dog-friendly.

Just left El Amigo Mexican Restaurant, and it was delicious! It’s a super authentic spot with a great atmosphere, reasonable prices, and amazing food. I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality and flavor of everything I tried. Definitely a 5-star experience, and if you’re into authentic Mexican cuisine, I highly recommend checking it out!

Shrimp tacos tasted nicely. Chips weren’t fresh and I didn’t prefer the salsa. On the other hand, my partner got the grilled fish - she said it was good. Plus, the pico de gallo was the best she ever had. Service was kind and fast. And the atmosphere was quaint.

Stopped in for lunch and loved it! We got 3 pupusas, plantains, two tacos, and a burrito. All very good. They had a little outdoor area as well.

Just moved to area and decided to stop on my sister’s last day in town. So glad we did!! I will definitely be a regular customer from now on!! The food was so good and the service was great. We dug in as soon as the food came out, it looked so good I forgot to take photos.

I do not understand all the great reviews. My husband and I stopped for dinner. Server merely plopped our food down and was verging on rude. My husband got fajitas that was not on sizzling platter, meat was dry and unappealing with very little sauce. Would not recommend.

Observation deck
Raleigh-Durham International Airport Observation Park offers a public space for plane enthusiasts to watch aircraft take off and land from the 10,000-foot runway. Visitors can listen to pilot-tower communications through speakers on an elevated observation platform. The park includes a play area for children, the Crosswinds Cafe, picnic areas, educational displays, modern restrooms, and free parking. It's open daily from sunrise to sunset and hosts special events like birthday parties.
Have always loved plane watching since I was a kid, so always enjoy going to the Observation Deck at RDU. Grateful they finally have a cell lot for waiting to pickup passengers. This day, instead of waiting at the cell lot, I decided to wait at the Observation Deck for my friend's arrival, which I got to actually see. Have a good little play area for kids, as well as enjoy the air traffic control communications being played in the seating area. A nice place to unwind and watch some planes. Only downside is that the buildings do tend to partially block some of the landings and take offs.
Meredith F — Google review
Went during the week and there were a few people out but not at all crowded. I appreciated the seats and bathrooms under the overlook. They have a small “runway” for kids to play on and jungle gym in sand. There is information about different types of planes that any plane enthusiast would enjoy. You can hear the controllers communicating to planes which is really nice. Perfect place to help build understanding for kids when loved ones have to travel away or simply a relaxing way to enjoy airplanes. If you’re going in the heat bring a fan and a hat- Not a ton of shade.
J M — Google review
Great place to take kids and bigger kids to see planes take off and land. Very neat experience with a small area for kids to run like planes on a playground replica of the run way. Wish there was more air traffic in general, quite a wait in between planes on a Saturday afternoon. (The nearby cracker barrel however is direct flight path and they go directly over your head in the parking lot...also really cool!)
Megan C — Google review
The airplane observation deck was such an incredible experience! The views were absolutely breathtaking, with a perfect spot to watch planes take off and land up close. It felt both exciting and relaxing, and the atmosphere was great for families, aviation fans, or anyone just looking for something unique to do. Everything was well-kept, safe, and easy to access. I could have stayed for hours just enjoying the sights and sounds. A truly unforgettable 5-star experience!
Cortni H — Google review
Here at RDU for a two hour layover. It was most packed airport I have been in with the possible exception of Panama City. The gate areas were mostly packed with passengers waiting to board. A1-A4 finally got unpacked around 10:30 AM. Bathrooms were also full. The ladies bathroom had a line out the doorway area. I thought those days were gone as around 30 years ago architects were solving that problem with stadiums and other large venues. It looks like they are building a new runway so maybe they will solve the bathroom problem for women. If this terminal is packed you can walk over to terminal 1 and there is a nice quiet cafeteria style food and drink area that is separate from the hubbub of either terminal.
Thomas B — Google review
I love going here to watch the planes. It's an amazing place. Sometimes, you can see the Lufthansa A330, or the Air France 777, or the Icelandair flight, maybe even the American 777! A bigger deck and playground would be nice but, hey, you get what you get. Still, great place!
Eli G — Google review
This is a cute spot to come and enjoy the evening, the park does close after sunset. The parking lot is small to medium size but there was plenty of parking space when I went there. There is also a little bit of outdoor museum-ish and also a small kids playground.
Adalberto C — Google review
This is a great place for folks of all ages.. bring kids to teach them about planes and flight, or just bring your nerdy grown up self and enjoy the sounds and sights. Works best when you also have a flight tracker and ATC radio scanner. Would give this 5 stars but they built the observation deck to look over 5L/23R, which is hardly used. All the actual arrivals and departures happen on 5R/23L, which is on the other side of the main terminal.

Ice cream shop
If you're on the hunt for a delightful ice cream experience in Cary, look no further than FRESH. Local Ice Cream. This charming little shop may be smaller than some of its competitors, but it packs a punch with an impressive selection of over 20 flavors, including seasonal and monthly specials that keep things exciting. What sets FRESH apart is its commitment to using fresh ingredients sourced from local farms, resulting in an incredibly creamy and soft texture that's hard to find elsewhere.
It was a hot Friday afternoon, tho a bit muggy as it had been raining earlier. Perfect weather for some ice cream. We were in downtown Cary park and decided to walk over. The place opens at 12:30 which is a bit odd, but worth the wait. Plenty of options. We had the cookie dough and key lime pie variety. Cookie dough had a lot of toppings and was definitely a lot of ice cream. Great place, would go back!
Robin M — Google review
This place was recommended to us by one of the other local shops and did not disappoint. The flavors were very good and the ice cream was nice and creamy. I got a "single" scoop in a warm waffle cone (just made) and it was closer to a double scoop at BR. My girlfriend got a double scoop (2 flavors) and it was a lot. She was not disappointed by the taste or the amount. The girl who helped us was super nice and friendly and we probably sampled at least 10 flavors before we finally made up our minds. She was patient and friendly. Excellent customer service!
Jasan F — Google review
Local fresh was a nice ice cream shop, but the customer service was lacking. The place has great reviews and the ice cream is tasty, but the servers weren’t very friendly and seemed eager for us to leave. The store was clean with a nice simple layout. Maybe a refresher on some customer service training.

have been to another location in the past and this location still kept the quality to standard and was delicious! i got the banana pudding ice cream which had a strong banana flavor with pieces of vanilla cake/nilla wafers. staff was super friendly and they moved quickly despite being a long line. it’s a small store so it does get pretty tight in there during peak hours. would come again in the future. i also recommend the sea salt honey!

It doesn't get any more local and fresh than that!!! Raleigh family owned establishment, homemade, no preservatives, high quality ice cream 🍨 The place is small so it gets packed quickly. They have some merch and some goodies in the shelves as well. I got the banana pudding and coconut almond crunch, so delicious!! By the way, the waffle cones were so good too, not too sugary. They also have a water station at the end of the register or on the right side as soon as you enter.

This is our favorite ice cream place to hit on the weekends. Usually very busy, but the customer service is always fast and accurate. The freshly made waffle cones are a must try for any first timers! Plenty of options to choose from whether you want dairy or non-dairy ice cream choices.

Nestled within Marla Dorrel Park, Kids Together Playground is a remarkable 2-acre haven designed for children of all abilities. This enchanting playground boasts beautifully landscaped rolling hills and whimsical artistic elements that create an inviting atmosphere. With play areas tailored to different age groups, including a secure preschool section complete with a playhouse and sand area, parents can relax knowing their little ones are safe while they explore. The park features accessible structures equipped with ramps and chair swings, ensuring everyone can join in the fun.
The most beautifully landscaped children’s park I have ever been to with whimsical, mythical creature statues. There is a winding sidewalk through the park to four different play areas: an underground serpent play area, two 5-12 year old play areas, and a 2-5 year old play area. Lots of different swings and gliders and multiple things to climb in and crawl through. All of the playgrounds are enclosed and tons of benches throughout. I like that the swings are off to the side of the park so children are not constantly tempted to walk in front of them.

With rooms accommodating up to 200 seated or 175 standing guests, it's suitable for celebrations of different sizes. The center can even convert its gymnasium into a banquet hall for larger events. Despite some minor issues like an unpleasant smell in the elevator, the overall experience is positive, with clean and well-decorated rooms and attentive staff members.
This is a really nice center located in Cary . My son’s Pre-K school had his graduation there and it was perfect. It wasn’t too deep into Cary but yet the location is awesome. It was very clean and spacious there were multiple events going on simultaneously but they didn’t interfere with each other, we couldn’t hear the other event going on and I’m sure they didn’t hear us. The shop prides itself on offering unique, small production wines from family-owned estates around the world, with an emphasis on organically grown varieties. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always ready to offer recommendations and assistance.
I recently discovered this charming spot while visiting the area. The wine selection here is truly delightful, offering a thoughtfully curated variety of choices to suit every palate. What impressed me most were the reasonable prices, making it possible to explore new wines without breaking the bank. The ambiance is perfect for sitting down, unwinding, and enjoying good conversation. The seating area is cozy yet stylish, striking just the right balance between casual comfort and sophisticated charm. It's an ideal setting to meet friends or simply enjoy a quiet, peaceful evening sipping wine. The staff deserves a mention too—they're welcoming, knowledgeable, and always ready with a great recommendation. If you're looking for a lovely place to relax with excellent wine and great company, this hidden gem is definitely worth a visit!

What a little gem! Walking in it felt like "just another bottle shop" but the closer you look the better it gets. The prices range from very reasonable to a great quality/gift. They also had a huge selection of non-alcoholic options so everyone could enjoy the back patio/indoor seating area if you like. Overall, great spot.
Ashleigh — Google review
It is a nice wine store. While the selection of wine by the glass is limited, the bottle selection is good. However, I was a bit disappointed with the service. We visited the wine store on Saturday night, ordered a glass of wine, and took a seat on the terrace. When we decided to order another glass, we were told that new orders were no longer being accepted, even though it was 9 PM and the store stays open until 10 PM. I found it surprising that they would stop accepting orders an hour before closing, especially on a Saturday night.

Downtown Cary is a charming and thriving area in the heart of the city. It's home to various communities, including the largest one, Preston. The downtown area features The Cary movie theater, Downtown Park, and an array of shops and restaurants such as Ashworth Drugs with its classic soda fountain.

Traveling through Cary was beautiful and so clean. It was refreshing to see that the town cared so much.
Melissa L — Google review
Having lived in Raleigh for decades, I've always been attuned to the discussions about the best cities to live and work in the United States, and Cary has frequently been mentioned in such conversations. Initially perceived as a mere suburb with Raleigh at its heart, Cary has gradually shed that image, morphing into something more akin to a city, while its downtown retains the charm of a small town. Despite the cycle of old businesses fading away and new, slightly larger commercial buildings taking their place, a true sense of prosperity seemed elusive. It wasn't until the revitalization of Downtown Cary Park and the addition of new apartment complexes that perceptions began to shift. Yet, many restaurants and landmarks like the government office buildings, Cary Elementary School, Cary Arts Center, and The Cary Theater have maintained their original character. The latter, which nearly succumbed to the rise of digital movies and the impact of the pandemic, stands as a testament to the town's resilience. I don't often find myself wandering downtown unless my previous photographic works have been superseded by new images, prompting me to capture fresh perspectives through my lens. On days when cooking feels like a chore, I find solace in the familiar comfort of takeout from TAIPEI 101. However, the nights still carry a tinge of concern, with the occasional recklessness on Academy Street and the disruptive rumble of trucks laden with oversized speakers testing the limits of tranquility. It's clear that some are testing the patience of the police, and perhaps, the community at large.

The YMCA of the Triangle Corporate Offices is a vibrant community-centered nonprofit that has been making waves since its inception in 1844. With a rich history dating back to 1857, this organization has grown into one of the largest YMCAs in the nation, dedicated to enhancing lives through an array of recreational programs and services for individuals of all ages.
So often we read about negative customer service experiences, but we need to recognize the positive experiences as well. After being unable to register for a membership via the website, I called the YMCA customer service line. To my surprise, a live person picked up (named Jackie). She listened to my problem, made the necessary modifications to my profile and 20 minutes later my family membership was complete and paid for.
Joanne S — Google review
Just received a letter in the mail informing us that our membership fees are increasing my 11.4% This is the 2nd increase within the last year. Unfortunately, my family and I can not afford the increasing cost of the Y and will have to terminate our membership. This is sad news since we left a previous gym to help reduce our family bills. This is not good for our family!

It’s a fine place. Good to have multiple locations and plenty of equipment. The fact they adhere to the mask mandates in the area is a joke…they have lost their backbone in my opinion and are more concerned with not ruffling feathers than they are following the science. Update…they’ve gone totally woke. Children at risk of being misgendered and you may see a male appendage in the women’s room. Corporate has not returned multiple, dispassionate and earnest phone calls on these issues.

We used the weekly after school program for my son for the 2021-2022 school year and were able to sign him up for a day here and there as we needed it. For our family, it was a better fit than paying for the annual option. I went to sign him up for the same program for this 2022-2023 school year, and was not able to just do 1 day, which is sometimes all that we need. I went ahead and decided to sign him up for 2 days because he loves attending the program. I went to checkout and the price had more than doubled from what 2 days cost us last year. ZERO communication had been sent out about the new 2 day minimum and the price increase. I understand a price increase per day, however requiring 2 days per week is unacceptable. If there are no spots open because I'm trying to get childcare for one afternoon, then that should fall on me. I shouldn't be told I HAVE TO sign up for 2 days. It states on the website that the cost per week for a participant is $83. If that's divided by 5 days, that's roughly $16 dollars/day. However, if you sign up for the required 2 days on the site, you're charged $54. This is because they increase the price for each additional day now and there is a deposit that needs to be paid each week you sign up. Even if you sign up for multiple weeks at a time, they still charge you a deposit for each week. Very disappointed in this program and the Y in general. I had debated on signing my son up for summer camps with them, but my money will now go to a different program.
Stephanie S — Google review
I don't like how the Y makes you pay for an entire membership. My time is as such that I could still come to the water aerobics class like I used to. I don't want to pay a full membership for just one class. It used to be where you could purchase a punch card, go to the class, get in the steam room afterwards. AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!!! I want the powers-that-be to really consider having "a la carte" services. I have two more people in my community who wants this as well and I am sure there are more. We are near the Danville Virginia YMCA.

My daughter is in after school care in which she could not attend due to being unexpectedly hospitalized. When I reached out about assistance I was told that they would not switch weeks for care due to policy that does not mention hospitalization specifically. As a organization that is supposed to be for the community seems more about the profit than helping a family in need.

In fact with Abby's guidance the kids were accepted into all of the private schools they applied to. We have some tough choices to make but what a wonderful problem to have! Thanks Abby

After meeting with Abby, I feel so much better about the college application process for our son. Abby explained the steps that my son should be taking as a sophomore and the steps that we should be taking as parents. Abby broke down the process very clearly and explained the reasoning and the benefits of starting this process early. Abby is not only knowledgeable, but also patient in answering all of our questions. It is clear that Abby is genuine and eager to help my son succeed at finding his best fit school. Thank you Abby! We look forward to continue working with you.

ACP is as beautiful as ever. The trail offers about a 2 mile walk, with nice views of this picturesque body of water. I'm aware of two entries to the park to walk the trail and parking is typically easy to find, especially early in the day.

A perfect mix of nature and relaxation! This 2-mile trail circles a gorgeous lake with views that will stop you in your tracks. Whether you’re walking through the shady woods, sitting on the grass, or catching the sunset from a bench, it feels like a little escape. Plus, it’s dog-friendly—my FurBaby loved it just as much as I did!

Nice 2 mile loop paved trail. Lots of tree cover for shade. Well positioned benches for those who may need to take a break. The Frenchman loved it!

We had a great experience visiting Apex Community Park. They have a nice playground and obstacle course for kids. A two mile trail with beautiful scenery of the lake that loops around. They also have a lot of spaces for outdoor sports of every kind. Volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts. Baseball and soccer fields. Perfect place to spend the day with family and friends!

Apex Community Park quickly became one of my favorite spots in Apex! From the scenic 2.0-mile Lake Pine Loop trail to the numerous sports fields and courts, there's no shortage of things to do. The park boasts a 50-acre lake surrounded by lush greenery, creating a peaceful and scenic environment. I spotted several birds and a couple of deer during my visits. You can enjoy kayaking on the calm lake too. There's also ample parking available, making access easy.

You can walk around the lake, jog, and enjoy the tree-lined trails.

Beautiful 2 miles trail. Liked the wildlife this park offers, we spotted few turtles, waterfowl, birds etc. Lovely views of Apex lake. It has paved and unpaved trails, a fishing pier, kids playground. There are two entries to access the trails of this park. It has many benches along the lake trail. Restrooms at the park entrances. Trails are mostly shaded through amazing trees.

Children's farm
Phillips Farms in Cary offers a variety of seasonal activities for families, including strawberry picking in the spring and summer, as well as a corn maze and pumpkin patch in the fall. The farm has transformed from cultivating tobacco to becoming a popular destination for visitors. It's an affordable option for families with children under 10, featuring a play area and ample free parking. While there are limited restrooms, bringing along food for kids is recommended for the visit.
What great experience we had! We enjoyed the cold apple ciders with apple cider donuts before we entered the farm and we took in all the ambiance in from the pumpkin carving to the hologram pumpkin story telling. What an amazing place! Inside we did the apple sling shots, corn maze, and walked through the beautiful sunflowers! We had a blast! I must say, every encounter we had with staff was friendly and very professional! Great job everyone who make this experience a memorable one!
Dania S — Google review
Just come out with the kids to experience this!!! We had a blast. My kids favorite thing to do besides everything was the Corn Box and the Mega Slide. The scenery was beautiful. Just have a lazy day and go out there.
Anjelica R — Google review
Amazing, it’s an attraction for all ages, especially now with the Haunted Philips Farm. They offer a variety of different activity’s ex: corn maze, apple launcher, apple slingshot, duck racing, flower picking, and much more. They have an alright variety of food. The corn maze was a little out of my expectations only reason for the 4 stars. Some parts were just a couple of patches of corn while in others it was thick. Overall I’d say staff is really kind and helpful. I recommend going during there apple festival, only downside sometimes capacity limits gets reached quick and some days they sell out of tickets so might as well plan ahead :)
Boris Y — Google review
We had a BLAST!!!! Fun for the whole family. Kids enjoyed everything there was to enjoy and try. Apple cannon was super fun, enjoyed walking through the flower field at sunset with many memorable pictures made, and the donuts were the best!!! Definitely recommend to experience this awesome place!!!

We came up from Fayetteville after getting some targeted ads for this place. We hadn't been here yet and the kids were a little lackluster about the one by our house after a few years in a row. Phillips' is really nice but WOW was it crowded. We were going to buy tickets in-person for the mil discount but when we arrived the line was so long we went ahead and did online checkout so we could hop in the much shorter prepaid line. The line out front probably should have prepared me for what inside was like too. We went on a Sunday, so shorter opening hours, but even with almost 4 hours left we were there til closing and still didn't manage to do everything with how long all the lines were. All that to say, the attractions themselves are nice, well kept, and the staff are friendly. My kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. But do plan to make it an all day activity if you want to get your money's worth.

We had an absolute blast at Philip Farms in Cary, NC! My daughter couldn’t stop smiling from the moment we arrived—she adored petting the friendly farm animals, giggling through the bumpy tractor ride, and diving into all the fun games. The eateries were a hit too, with yummy treats that kept us fueled for more adventures. This place is pure family magic—highly recommend for a day of wholesome fun. 5 stars all the way! 🌟🐄🚜

First time visiting and the Kids had fun. The farm had many different activities to do. Although the staff could have a better attitudes and more respectful communication. What do they expect when there are KIDS there to Play. I understand safety by all means. They want customer to respect the Farm, then they sure can improve the respect given to Paying customer's. Especially the man who drives thesmall cow ride thing. He was definitely on a power trip. Hill ridge farms by far better and will be our go to from now on. First and last visit.

Had an amazing time at the farm in Cary, NC! The perfect spot for a fun and relaxing day with the family. From the wide-open spaces and fresh air to the variety of activities like corn mazes, hayrides, and petting zoos, there’s something for everyone. The staff was super friendly, and everything was well-organized and clean. It’s a great way to disconnect from the daily grind and enjoy some quality time outdoors. We’ll definitely be back for more farm fun! Highly recommend for a perfect weekend getaway. 🍶Want to know more about what I’m up to? Check out My Instagram page: @PourIntoYourCup_333

Jack Smith Park, located in Cary, is a 50-acre recreational venue offering various amenities for visitors of all ages. The park features playgrounds, picnic shelters, climbing boulders, and a unique art installation that kids will love. It is home to the first playground with a spray ground in the area and also includes a dog park for furry friends to roam off-leash. Additionally, there are walking trails and a rock climbing structure available for outdoor enthusiasts.
My kids loved this place! It isn't too big or too small, it's perfect with different activities for all tastes. A regular playground for kids with high energy, a splash pad to cool off, and a little trail for them to dry off while walking. Even this place has a climbing rock for the most adventurous kids. I really liked it and will be coming back.
Jorge R — Google review
By far, this is one of the greatest park we have been to. My kids, particularly love, love the splash pad. Even though it’s smaller than other splash pads there’s a lot of water flow so it’s easy to get soaking wet in a matter of minutes. Completely kid approved and this Mama loved hanging out with my kid in that splash pad. We both got soaking wet. The bathrooms were clean and they were family bathrooms as well. There’s a walking trail with big ceramic sheep, and it is paved so perfect for strollers and wagons. There’s also picnic benches in plenty of places to stay in the shade. This place was amazing.
JOANNIE O — Google review
I love this park) especially splash pads. Super fun. Kids were unstoppable more then 40 min)

People seem to have trouble picking up after their dogs. This was right in front of a bench.(Yes, I picked it up) The park could also use new mulch more than once a year or at least clean it up a bit.
Joshua G — Google review
The water splash park would keep the kids occupied and the playground beside is a plus. Minus point The restroom was a lil dirty as there were many people. Our kids had great fun! There's a dog park as well. Best to go, Sunday morning
Shamila R — Google review
It is a good park very quiet and also now in summer time that is very hot the attractions for the children have a tent for the shade
Alexa P — Google review
This park is a hit for kids 2+. Accessible for younger than that but most of the playground and splash pad are suited for toddlers and up. Baby swings and regular swings are available. Bathrooms are nice and clean. There's some shaded spots both near the playground and splash pad, and some green space for playing catch and running around. Overall a lovely park.
Dave S — Google review
Great padding on the playground, but the grass is a little itchy. The sheep are very durable, but the bathrooms don't work. The splash pad is fun.
