The Museum of Life and Science, located on West Murray Avenue in Durham, is an interactive museum offering a wide range of indoor and outdoor exhibits. Visitors can explore space exploration, life on earth, and much more through hands-on experiences. The museum features a butterfly house, dinosaur trail, farmyard, and even a train ride. With its engaging and interactive displays, the museum provides a unique learning experience for visitors of all ages.
Great place to take the kids and have them learn and explore. Went in the middle of summer so expect warmer conditions and stay hydrated because it's a pretty large place so be prepared to walk a good amount. They do sell beverages and there are a few stops where you can cool off like the butterfly enclosure which was very nice to sit and enjoy. Overall, my family and I enjoyed the experience and had a nice time. We arrived at around 2pm and still didn't have enough time to look at everything they have to offer. I'd definitely go again, maybe a little bit earlier. It would be really nice to check it out in fall to avoid the heat.

Took our 9- and 6-year-olds to the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science in Durham, and it was a blast! Ample parking near the entrance, with covered options—super convenient. Tickets: $24/adult, $19 kids (3-12), free for under 2 ; buy online to skip lines. Inside, kids loved the paper plane and parachute launchers, origami, and light-bending refraction/reflection exhibits. Downstairs labs had circuits, fossil digs, and magnets—perfect for curious minds. Outside, the playground with climbing ropes and slides, Gateway Park’s sound games and sandpits, and Hideaway Woods’ treehouse, trails, and stream kept them thrilled. A dedicated under-6 area was great for our younger one. The Farmyard charmed with alpacas, donkeys, hens, pigs, and mini cows. The Magic Wings Butterfly House was magical—humid but stunning, with blue morphos landing on the kids (don’t touch!). The Pumpkin Patch Express train (fall weekends, included) led to a hay maze and pumpkin picking, though boarding was confusing—head to the patch first. The Dinosaur Trail with roaring animatronics and fossil digs wowed our 9-year-old. Wildlife Center had otters, turtles, and red wolf pups (bears were hiding). Cell service is weak in wooded areas, so plan ahead. A perfect mix of learning and play—our kids were obsessed, and we loved the shaded spots to relax. Highly recommend for families!

We had an awesome experience here with out 1.5 year old. Loved their free play area, and also got to spend some time at the stream and the butterfly garden. Husband and I had just as much fun as our toddler, and it looks like it’s really a great space for all ages. Wish we lived so much closer!

This place is delightful. We love the outdoor experiences with the animals and tree houses- the indoor places are good but I'd go to marbles instead if it were just an indoor day. The outdoor walking path with Dino's and farm animals and beautiful gardens- excellent.
Casie G — Google review
my childhood! the outdoor exhibits are great; lovely walking trails. It could double as a mini-zoo. personal favorite is the butterfly house 🫶🏻 tickets are $24/adult without a membership, but free if you’re a Durham resident.

A beautiful place for family and friends! I only waited for about 5 minutes if that in terms of meeting the lady at yhe front desk and once I got checked in she gave me the layout of the land. I went specifically for the Magic Butterfly House as that was my focus for the day. The volunteer staff were so helpful in addressed my every need and regular staff got me connected to the right person for future collaborations. There's so many wonderful places for photographs and it wasn't crowded at all.
Jordan R — Google review
I spent 3 wonderful hours exploring this beautiful place. Great for the entire community to visit! If you want to ride the train with your children make sure to buy tickets in advance.

Just visited the Museum of Life and Science right after landing—initially thought it was the Museum of Natural History, whoops 😅. Still, it was a fun surprise! The butterfly house was a highlight—three butterflies landed on my mom—and the dinosaur trail was a cool walk. As a museum nerd, I loved it. Great spot for all ages!

Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a 55-acre public garden in Durham, North Carolina, offering 5 miles of walking paths, a serene koi pond, and an amphitheater for events. It is a popular attraction that draws around 600,000 visitors annually. The gardens showcase a diverse range of blooming flowers and plants representing species from the North Carolina Piedmont as well as those from distant corners of North America and Asia.
Beautiful garden, always enjoy visiting any time of year. Love that it's free as well! You just need to pay for parking. Looking forward to seeing the new updates they're working on. Right now there's only a dedicated parking lot open on the weekend due to construction so keep that in mind for your visit!

We recently visited Duke Gardens and had a wonderful time. It’s a lovely place for a peaceful walk surrounded by beautiful views and nature. The gardens are very well maintained, with plenty to see and learn along the way. Just make sure to bring water, as it can get quite hot during the summer. A great spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors!

Always a fun time visiting here no matter the season. This time i went in September. Admission is free. Parking is not, but it’s cheap. There is a parking lot with walk access to the gardens. Lots of areas to have a picnic or read a book ans relax. While youre free, you can also explore the duke campus, have coffee and see the chapel.

Today evening I visited Duke University Gardens in Durham, and it was such a peaceful and beautiful experience! 🌸 I began at the Terrace Gardens, surrounded by colorful flowers and stunning views. Then I wandered into the Asian Arboretum, where tall bamboo, calm ponds, and stone lanterns created a serene atmosphere. The red wooden bridge over the pond was absolutely charming — a perfect spot for photos and quiet reflection. I also explored the Blomquist Garden of Native Plants, which highlights North Carolina’s unique and wild beauty. Every corner of the gardens felt magical, from the sound of water to the sight of butterflies and koi fish. If you’re in Durham, don’t miss a visit to Duke Gardens — it’s a little piece of paradise right in the city! 🌿✨

My visit from noon to around 3 PM during spring was a floral delight! This 55-acre botanical gem in Durham, NC, is a must-see, especially when spring transforms it into a vibrant paradise. The cherry blossom corridor was the highlight, with its stunning rows of trees in full bloom, their soft pink petals forming a dreamy canopy. However, arriving at noon meant we hit peak crowd time, and the corridor was incredibly busy! Photographers, families, and flower lovers packed the path, making it hard to find a quiet moment or take clear photos. It felt more like a festival than a tranquil stroll at times. Fortunately, other cherry trees in areas like the Asian-inspired section offered a slightly less crowded chance to enjoy the blossoms, with equally lovely bursts of pink. The floral diversity was stunning. The historic terraces bloomed with tulips, daffodils, and camellias, while the native plant garden showcased over 900 species, including quirky carnivorous plants that caught my eye. The discovery garden and white garden added more variety with water lilies and organic vegetables. It’s a plant lover’s paradise, and I enjoyed studying the blooms with clear signs and an online bloom guide to navigate. Exploring was a joy, with 5 miles of paths winding through themed sections like the Asian arboretum and a peaceful pond. The Italianate terraces and central fountain were perfect for a pause, and the paths were accessible for strollers or those with mobility needs. Hidden gems like a zigzag bridge added a sense of adventure during our three-hour visit. The main drawback, beyond the packed cherry corridor, was the lack of food options inside. A food cart or cafe would’ve been great for a quick snack. By the time we left around 3 PM, the nearby cafe and gift shop were closed (under construction until spring 2026). We found a food court just outside on the campus, which was handy, but missing the gift shop was a bummer since I wanted a plant-themed souvenir. Check hours if you plan to shop! On the plus side, the gardens are pet-friendly (leashed pets with waste bags required), perfect for dog owners. It’s also a fantastic spot for kids, with open lawns and the discovery garden’s story circle and chickens keeping young explorers engaged. My kids loved running around and learning about plants, making it an ideal place for families to connect with nature. The free admission (with $2/hour parking on weekends) is a steal, though parking during construction can be tricky—use the temporary entrance or nearby campus lots. Despite the crowded cherry corridor and no on-site dining, this place is a springtime treasure. The floral variety, kid-friendly spaces, and inviting paths made our visit memorable. Next time, I’ll aim for an early morning trip to avoid the noon-to-3-PM crowds, especially at the cherry corridor, and I’m excited to return for another season’s blooms!

Get your steps in surrounded by sights, sounds, and smells. Calming vibes. You can quickly walk through or take your leisure because theres something to see and every turn. Bring some water with you,but there is a snack station there as well.

Beautiful garden with easy walking trails. Couple of ponds enhance the serenity. Mostly shaded and walking during noon would not be problem. It’s free. You have to park your car at lot “H”, parking fees is $2 per hour. You can only park in this lot only on Saturday and Sunday.

Must see when you are in NC. The university has maintained this garden and it is beautiful. There are a lot of plant species here and a chapel as well, making it a prime spot for taking pictures and really appreciating beauty of nature and the peace it brings.

The Duke Lemur Center, located at Duke University, is home to the world's largest and most diverse collection of lemurs outside of Madagascar. With over 240 animals representing 17 different species, the center serves as a non-invasive research facility and welcomes thousands of visitors annually to learn about lemur conservation efforts. Visitors can get up close with these endangered creatures and gain insight into the center's work in studying and protecting all species of lemurs, including those facing extinction.
The “Walking with Lemurs” tour makes for an unforgettable family outing. The experience more than justifies the ticket price. Plus, every penny goes to the care of the lemurs themselves. Zack, our tour guide, enhanced the experience beyond our highest expectations with his energy, enthusiasm, and encyclopedic knowledge of the animals. Don’t forget to drop by the gift shop and pick up some great swag. P.S. - No photo or video does the tour justice. You have to soak up the whole experience in person!

I thoroughly enjoyed the “Walking with Lemurs” tour! Doing the 8:30am tour worked well as there were many different types of lemurs easily spotted. Our guide Matthew was great: knowledgeable and very passionate about lemur (and primate) protection and conservation. The walk was easy and there were several different areas to explore to see the different lemurs. I highly recommend this tour!
Nancy B — Google review
The Walking with Lemurs tour was incredible! Being that close to lemurs and seeing them in their own habitat was incredible. We also had a great tour guide, Zach! He did an excellent job guiding us. He was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the lemurs. Absolutely recommend this to anyone who can go!
Brittany M — Google review
We did the Thursday 12 PM walking with lemurs tour and had a fantastic experience. The guide was knowledgeable, energetic, and committed to getting us great angles to take photos. We saw three different species of lemurs in two different enclosures. A fun afternoon!

Incredible experience seeing all the lemurs in their home habitat. Zack was fantastic explaining all the personalities, families, and interactions. This was better than any zoo or safari experience I ever had.

Took the “Walking with Lemurs” tour for the second time today. Our tour guide Matthew was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone.

The walking tour was worth it! We got to see the lemurs wide awake at 8:30 and our tour guide Zach was really funny and informative. Definitely a great way to support the Duke Lemur Centre! They also have a really cute gift shop

Very interesting place. The volunteers are quite knowledgeable. Only disappointment was that many of the lemurs were snoozing after their feeding time. Some were active though. Worth a visit!

Durham Bulls Athletic Park, located in downtown Durham, NC, is not only home to the renowned baseball team, the Durham Bulls but also hosts a variety of events. The park will be hosting That Music Fest, a two-day outdoor music festival featuring 12 headlining bands and over 20 artists. This event promises to be a celebration of local music with thousands of fans expected to attend.
I didn't see Kevin Costner here at the ball park but what I did see was a beautiful baseball field located in a great city. The 360 view of the ball field and surrounding area was amazing. You saw old factories and buildings converted to apartments, businesses and shops. It's easy walking this area because there is so much to see and do.

Such a fun experience! From the moment we arrived, the employees standing outside the gate were professional, friendly, and very helpful. The team played an excellent game that kept the crowd engaged and excited the whole time. To top it all off, the night ended with an amazing fireworks show that made the evening even more memorable. A great time for all ages — I highly recommend catching a Durham Bulls game!

The team is famous because of the movie but that doesn't mean they dont tet and ensure you have a great time. The staff throughout the park are first class. The tickets are very affordable and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Plenty of food and drink options and the park is right downtown. Walk around and check out the whole park. The only somewhat negative aspect I felt was that for a 100 year old ball club they could showcase their history a little better.

The Durham Bulls Athletic Park is hands down one of the best minor league baseball stadiums I’ve ever visited! The atmosphere is electric, family-friendly, and full of energy. The stadium is clean, well-maintained, and offers plenty of comfortable seating with great views from every angle. The concessions have a wide variety of food and drinks, including local favorites. Parking is convenient and the staff is welcoming and professional. Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan, looking for a fun family outing, or just want to enjoy a beautiful night in downtown Durham, this ballpark is the perfect choice. A true Durham gem!

This has got to be the best minor league stadium I've ever been in. Great food and drink options, not a bad seat in the place, the crowd is into the game and you get to see quality baseball. Came here for the 4th of July fireworks and was thoroughly impressed.

Eno River State Park, located in Durham, is a sprawling natural oasis spanning 4,200 acres and preserving over nine miles of the scenic Eno River. The park offers an array of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, canoeing, and fishing. With 24 miles of trails on both eastern and western sides, visitors can explore the woodlands and enjoy picturesque views of the river and waterfalls.
Great facilities. Most trail are shaded. Great place to bring a dog! A good trail workout as there are some ups and downs. Water was very refreshing to swim in. All the hikers and swimmers were very friendly! Next time I’ll bring a picnic basket. Your definitely need water shoes or water sandals in the water. Lots of rocks.

I had an amazing time exploring Eno River State Park! The scenic beauty of the river and lush forests made for a perfect outdoor adventure. The park's trails were well-marked, and the scenery was breathtaking. We enjoyed walking in the natural surroundings. We highly recommend Eno River State Park to anyone looking for a peaceful escape into nature.
Mateen A — Google review
Hiking the Eno River State Park is one of the most interesting hikes one can do around Orange and Durham County, if not the best. The labyrinth of trails takes one up and down and in some parts overlooking some incredible rock formations and stunning river views. The Eno River trail system is a favorite because it's so much more than initially meets the eye. A lot of people spend a few minutes along one section and don't get the full experience. There are many swimming spots along the river, like Bobbitt Hole and Turtle Hole. In summer days, I spend time hiking for a chance to photograph plants, birds, and wild animals.
Enier C — Google review
We stopped halfway to Virginia for a picnic and to stretch our legs. Such an amazing state park in a beautiful place. The visitor center is stellar with a really cool educational classroom for kids (and adults)- cool taxidermy stuff, and microscope etc. Great trails, super cool foot bridge across the river. Highly recommend to family’s and singles alike.

Great area to hije or picnic near the river. We'll marked trails but their are currently closed trails from flooding. The camping area is open.

I love Eno River State Park. It was my first time there, and I was thoroughly impressed. The park is very clean and well-organized, with plenty of signs. They offer various options for both short and long-distance trails, and the looping trails make it easy to explore without retracing your steps. The creek, lake, and waterfall were stunning. During my visit, I saw turtles sunbathing on stones, deer up close, as well as frogs and butterflies. It was such a beautiful and gorgeous experience, and I can't wait to go back again.

Totally love this little park, though it gets super hot in the summer, especially the slides. The playground is fun with two slides and stuff to climb. A small wooded area is next to it, and it’s the perfect playground break from a festival in Durham. Plus, the food hall and a brew shop are close by.
Todd C — Google review
Interesting downtown type of park place, though, not really a park, but has a few park elements. Stuff for kids to climb on, a big slide, a pixel wall, a bridge over a creek… My 4-year-old had fun there playing in the creek although we were wondering the whole time how clean or contaminated the water was. Trash and bottles were all around the area. The coolest thing there is the colored-peg pixel wall next to the apartments where kids can experiment with posting colored pegs and write something or draw a picture. I haven’t ever seen that before anywhere at any other park.
Dan T — Google review
It looks much more attractive in the photos. Playground was basically just a slide..garden was about 3 feet wide. I guess it's good if you just want to go walking.I gave an extra star specially for the breastfeeding bench.

Beautiful campus, the chapel is stunning. Food is a little pricey but hey, it's Duke. That's literally the only thing bad I can say about this place. As a hopeful student imagine if Duke sees my review 😂😂...just kidding. However, it is 100% a noteworthy place to visit and see the amazing Gothic architecture (is that what it is?) and the serene vibes experienced through the lush green lawn. Great visit!
Saket — Google review
From the outside Duke appears like this prestigious university, in the inside, the school is more or less like a money grabber for its students. The nice part about Duke is you get to connect with some very friendly peers and the campus looks great. The downside is the price tag for that: the school charges some very high tuition, specially for international students. It doesn’t even allow you to waive your health insurance if you are international and have a US-equivalent insurance. As of 2025 their insurance nears almost $4K per year - the highest I’ve seen in my academic appointments. Schools down the road charge around half of that price for exact same plan/provider. About professors/classes, i’m in a STEM master’s program: about 20% of them are great, 30% average, and 50% don’t even care about teaching.

My husband arrived via air ambulance and our stay is ongoing but I can’t state how excellent care we have received from the entire staff of the Oncology Dept floor 10 shout out by far the best by far… I am so glad God sent us here. Our medical journey is far from over but I do wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts from the the nurses assistants, nurses and Doctors.

Absolutely beautiful campus. Easy to get around on the free bus. We actually walked through the campus on our way to the Duke Garden. Another breathtaking place to visit.

Wife went in for quick shot for white blood cells. Took about hour, parked in shade, gotta call and picked her up. The best part we had lunch at golden corral.

Scheduled for 2 procedures. Gotten all the way out here just to find out my sorry azz medical insurance denied me. That only goes to prove that Duke Hospitals are turning into just like Wake Med hospitals. They are only in it for the money. They don't care about the patients ability to live a good or decent quality of life. The same issue with Healthy Blue. Which is NC's Medicaid insurance. All these places do not care about the patient. Also I'm extremely limited on how I'm able to move about.
Colette S — Google review
The campus really has a certain vibe to it. Strolling along while taking all the excellence in is quite the inspiring experience. If you happen to be around, take the detour! Eruditio et Religio await!

Nestled in Durham, North Carolina, Bennett Place is a beautifully reconstructed farmhouse steeped in Civil War history. This significant site marks the location of the largest Confederate troop surrender, where Generals Johnston and Sherman met to negotiate peace in April 1865. Visitors can immerse themselves in this poignant chapter of American history through guided or self-guided tours of the meticulously restored farmhouse, kitchen, and smokehouse.
Easily a star visit and tells an incredible story that everyone should know. We appreciated the visit, front to back...the video, the museum, the tour, the structures. Consequential history was right here during one of the most important months of our nation.

I have wanted to visit Bennett Place for a long time and finally got the opportunity. Jim, our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. It was neat to see that the old road was still intact. Did you know that there were three other Confederate surrenders? Neither did I. Checkout the informational panel inside the visitor center.
M S — Google review
Our guide was a history buff and asked thought-provoking questions. I appreciated that he gave immediate history of what preceded the surrender… and cultural context of what the officers/soldiers interactions were like during the surrender. My parents don’t like to walk too far - or stand for long periods of time - so this was comfortable for them. True southern hospitality from museum staff as well. Worth a visit!

Very well maintained lots of informational signage about the area and the house. I'm sure the informational center has great information, but I came on a day that they were closed. Always a great day when you can see a little bit of history

Wonderful!! Loved it. So informative 👏. Helpers were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The video can be played for you if you ask the staff. Smart layout museum ✨️. The grounds would be a wonderful place for a family picnic 😊. Although we didn't pay for the tour, it's extremely reasonable. I wish we had, but timing did not allow. Be sure to stop here where Sherman settled an agreement with Johnstone to end the war. Grab yourself a map of the many battlefields available here in North Carolina .

Bennett Place is such a hidden gem full of history and charm. The staff and volunteers are so knowledgeable and passionate, making the stories of the site come alive in such a meaningful way. The grounds are beautifully kept, peaceful, and perfect for learning as well as reflecting. Visiting here gave me such a deep appreciation for an important piece of our nation’s history. Highly recommend to anyone — whether you’re a history lover or just looking for a memorable and educational experience.

My wife and I took our 1 year old granddaughter here. They had some people reenacting the era. It was magnificent!! A low-key, relaxing, unique time. There are no big crowds and so many small details to enjoy. Kudos to the volunteers who really make this special. If you're single, a couple, a family, or just some friends hanging out, this is a pretty cool experience. Don't go if you're looking for loud and adrenaline pumping. The lack of those are why this place is chill. There is a nice museum here, too. Unfortunately, I only took one or two pictures inside to share. Entrance is free, but there's a donation box. Please give as you can. Ladies were there selling baked goods, too. They were delicious. Go check this place out! 😁

Stagville State Historic Site is a significant antebellum plantation complex in North Carolina, once owned by the Bennehan-Cameron family. Covering 30,000 acres, it was home to over 900 enslaved individuals. Today, the site offers self-guided tours of its extensive grounds and original buildings, including four two-story slave dwellings. The property is dedicated to educating visitors about the experiences and resilience of the enslaved people who lived there.
Stopped on my way home from South Carolina- I love visiting historic sites & learning about them. This was a great tour. For how cheap the tickets were it surprised me that the tour was long & impactful! The tour guide was knowledgeable & friendly! My only complaint was that the main house was not available to view but outside of that I enjoyed the experience!

Our tour guide Vera was a historian with a passion. Tour guide is not just a job. The tour was great. The tour covers two sites and showed lots of buildings.
Andrew R — Google review
There are two sites on this one park. The Bennehan and the Cameron Plantations. The first is near the visitor center and contains a few buildings and the manor house for the Bennehan family. The house is empty and is not part of the tour. Sad, life happened there whether good or bad, it should be part of the story.. The larger of the two, the Cameron plantation is very well-preserved and has some outstanding buildings. No manor house, but the barn is impressive. The tour is $2, and I didn't take part as I had gotten to the site at 10 am on Saturday, and the first tour started at 11. They provided a map. There are some walking trails and in finer weather they'd a great way to spend the day.

This was one the most riveting historic tours we’ve ever taken. Adarra, our guide, set the stage by giving an overview of what to expect, then took us on a historic adventure that took us back in time, and brought to life the enslaved and their enlavers from the past. The preservation of this site is something to behold, but the passion and storytelling ability of our guide was the highlight.
Keith G — Google review
Love my experience and my tour guide!! By chance me and my partner were able to get a sort of private tour and the history lesson was amazing. It was such a small intimate and educational tour. The explanation the story line and the details our guide provided was everything even the personal inputs and conversations that were able to be drawn based on the facts and details for what it was like being enslaved here or even the perspective view for the owners view was superb. The expressed attention to detail and description giving for even buildings that never remained almost made me feel as if I was immersed in the very moment. I was even lucky enough to be on property while descendants of the enslaved people gathered to celebrate their family heritage. It was such a blessing to encounter and learn. The time of the tour was a good time quality and even with all that was shared and explored I was still intrigued to know more! I wish that the Farintosh Farm participated as their farm relates to the family history! That would just make this tour even the more better!!
Ashley A — Google review
We had a fantastic tour, with Adarra as our guide. I think Adarra may be the assistant site director and is definitely involved in the ongoing work and research being done. Adarra gave us much rich content about the history of Stagville alongside grace and patience with our questions. She also wove in many stories bringing the experience to life. Stagville is very worth a visit, and also highly recommend the tour!

I took my students. Our guides were incredibly eloquent. They spoke clearly and with conviction. Each sentence had meaning and impact. No word was wasted. It made everything they told us easy to understand and remember. They backed up their words with original documents that they showed us. A moving tour and tribute to the people that built this nation with their sweat and free labor. Never forget. Thank you to our guides.

American Tobacco Campus, once the heart of tobacco manufacturing in Durham, has undergone a remarkable transformation. The former warehouses and factories have been converted into a vibrant urban hub featuring condos, shops, museums, and restaurants. This area is now a sought-after location for established professionals due to its proximity to Duke University's medical campus and downtown Durham's industrial center. The complex also houses bars and eateries such as Cafe Zen, Mellow Mushroom, Symposium, and Tyler's.
We went walking around here after a Durham Bulls game. It is most definitely a relaxing place to visit with tuft to play on and tables to sit at. We want to go back during the day/evening to get a different experience of this beautiful place. I recommend this place for anyone to visit.

Luftgekühlt 11 – A Stunning Celebration of Air-Cooled Excellence I attended Luftgekühlt 11 this past weekend without high expectations—and I was absolutely blown away. The event was held at the American Tobacco Campus, and the way they utilized the space to showcase the vehicles was nothing short of spectacular. Every car was thoughtfully placed, creating a visual experience that felt both immersive and elevated. The entire show was executed with a level of professionalism that impressed me from start to finish. From the layout to the atmosphere, it was clear that the organizers put serious care into every detail. Whether you’re a die-hard Porsche enthusiast or just appreciate beautiful machines, this show is a must-see. I highly recommend Luftgekühlt to anyone who loves automotive culture. They nailed it.

I love this place! I love nature and architecture and American Tobacco Campus blends both of them beautifully! The atmosphere is so peaceful. The river flowing through the campus is my favorite part. We like to eat dinner at Mellow Mushroom and sit on the patio to see and hear the water. You can even walk around with alcoholic beverages. You just ask the restaurant for a special to-go cup for your drink. ☺️🥂

Brought the family to watch Cosmic Baseball tonight - Durham Bulls against the Richmond Chilli Peppers. We had a BLAST!! The blacklight set up they had was so ridiculously easy, I hope and pray more local 2A-3A teams will start doing it too! The players still played a skilled game was easing up and having more fun with it. The kids AND the adults were dancing and having a great time. I haven't heard so much laughter, crowd participation, and excitement at a local ballgame in years!!! It was a family-friendly night that allowed all of us to kick back and have fun with it! No fighting from a single person, no overly drunk people, not a single rude person, and our neighbors sitting all around us were nice, respectful and funny. Both teams constantly threw out sighed balls into the crowd adding another layer of excitement. Seeing young boys jumping feverishly trying to be notices so they get the ball... was reminiscent of easier times before our political divisions in our country. Baseball is America's past time; we acted as one audience, one America tonight We drove 3 hours just to attend the game, but it was well worth it. I can't wait to go to another Cosmic baseball game!! It's almost 3am but I'm still energized from the game! So MUCH FUN!! ❤️🤩

The Nasher Museum of Art, located within Duke University, is a hidden gem boasting a modern 65,000-square-foot building housing over 10,000 artworks. Visitors can explore the vast Collection Galleries featuring rotating historical and contemporary art curated by students and faculty. The museum also hosts events such as talks from visiting artists and the annual 'Nasher at Night' party.
Overall, the museum had art that was eye-pleasing such as contemporary art. It has exhibits that display both contemporary art and art from the 19th century or earlier. The best part is that admission is free but unfortunately there was some construction related to the sculpture garden in front of the building. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the museum.

I'm a lover of great art and this place definitely hit it. It was a smaller gallery and exhibits but it was nothing short of amazing! It wasn't overwhelming so there was no need to rush. I took my time through each piece which is also a plus. The workers were super nice and attentive. Absolutely loved the experience, the gift shop was awesome, just wish I could buy everything that was in there. But I will for sure be back with more people who will appreciate this wonderful place!

Great and interesting exhibits. We enjoyed our visit and were happy we decided to visit. The bottled water was a pleasant and welcomed surprise on this hot afternoon. A beautiful art museum with a wide variety of art from the most contemporary to ancient. Exhibits in two galleries change periodically with the third, main gallery a consistent feature of their prized pieces. This is a necessary stop when visiting Duke University. Very helpful and enlightening ambassadors to assist and educate. The cafe inside is a great way to have a family meal in a beautiful environment under the glass areium. Reservations necessary for the cafe, but not the museum itself. Highly recommended.

Could have easily been 5 stars but the lighting and sound clarity of Jacob Dylan’s vocals made it 4 stars. The Wallflowers played many of their big hits and mixed in new songs that were great. But, too loud and muddy sounding vocals. Too dim lighting. Still very enjoyable evening at a great venue.

Lovely and very well maintained theater at nearly 100 years old (in 2025) with staff that truly care about you having a wonderful time at your event. The drink and snack prices are super reasonably priced compared to other venues. Highly recommend.

Excellent Theater Experience The theater was fantastic—amazing acoustics, clean, and well-organized. I especially appreciated the parking lot right in front of the venue, with very reasonable pricing. The only suggestion I’d make is to consider slightly larger seats for added comfort. Overall, I loved it and would definitely return!

Very suitable venue for the BC concert we came to see. Nice atmosphere, clean, and the popcorn is good. We have begun to keep our eyes out for other events at Carolina Theater. Prices are reasonable and parking was only $7.

We loved seeing Cinderella ballet by the local Durham Ballet company at the Carolina Theater. Parking was easy, right across the street. We could sit in shade and wait for doors to open. The snack bar was open for something light to eat before going out to dinner after the show. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The staff was great and the ballet was wonderful! So glad we went to such a lovely theater. Will definitely go again
Robert B — Google review
In the spirit of transparency, I volunteer for the Theatre. That said, I do it, because it is awesome and to keep it being awesome. When it comes to seeing a movie, the theaters are intimate and well tiered. Unless you have a pro basketball team in front of you, you will be able to see over the heads of the people in front of you. It's a great place to watch a movie. Beer and wine are available, as well as the areas best popcorn. It's a great building with great people running it and the well-curated Retro Film Series has great options for classic movie buffs and new releases mixed in. Note: They also do sensory friendly showings for those who want to see a movie in a theatre but without it being overwhelming. The Fletcher Hall is a great place to see a show. There aren't any bad seats in the venue, but be aware that the balcony stairs are steep. If you need ADA or have mobility issues, talk to the box office about your best options. The location is across from a Durham parking deck and also near other parking options that are as low as $5 after hours and some free street parking after 7 pm is a quick walk away. All I can say is, do yourself a favor and see a show or a movie there.
Steve W — Google review
Thank goodness for this theater!!! They book a lot of popular but non mainstream acts that might otherwise skip this area. They are always great quality acts. I could book for an artist I know nothing about, with the knowledge that I will have an incredible time. Their booking agents really know their stuff. We've seen live music and comedians at this theater. We have never seen a show here that has been anything less than stellar. You can always count on the sound and lighting to be nothing short of perfection. We see a lot of progressive rock artists here, and with everything going on onstage, it would be very easy for the sound to become muddy. We've definitely attended other venues where we have experienced just that. But Carolina Theater's sound techs are amazing. You can hear every note of every instrument, and the volume and mix are always perfect. The entire A/V experience is superb. The pricing is generally very competitive if not less expensive than other venues, with decent price point choices throughout the theater. The seating is comfortable with decent padding, shoulder and leg room, the staff is very upbeat and helpful, events are well organized, parking is right across the street and fairly priced, there are great restaurants within a five minute walk, it's an easy drive into Durham - I even look forward to seeing the friendly crossing guard before and after the show. If you get the chance to sit in the newer Grand Suite seating, definitely do it! Great view, complimentary snacks and a demi bottle of sparkling wine (or other drink choices), spacious seating, and a table with a built-in wine chiller. You can definitely hang with a buddy there, but it can also be very romantic. A great way to impress a date or add something special to an occasion. We love arriving early for events here. This theater's crowd is always friendly and outgoing, and it's fun to chat with folks and meet other fans. It's just an overall fantastic experience. My only warning is that for some shows, the seating near the walls towards the front might have a limited view if there is a large speaker set up. They usually list that on the ticket. The sound is still great, but you won't be able to see the entire stage. Otherwise everything at this theater is perfect!

West Point on the Eno Park is a 404-acre riverside park with hiking trails, picnic areas, and a reconstructed working mill. Beginners can enjoy leisurely walks in this park before progressing to longer treks at other nearby parks like Little River Regional Park & Natural Area. Intermediate hikers seeking moderate challenges and stunning scenery can explore Duke Forest's trail network or tackle portions of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail across North Carolina.
We have taken our PreK and K students here for a field trip for 4-5 years. It is always a wonderful day with four rotating activities. From making sun prints to scavenger hunts, and archaeology digs to learning about milling corn - all activities are fun and informative. We have loved learning in the photography museum too! The staff is wonderful with our children. It is always our first field trip of the year and is always a great success!

Basically an interesting place for a dog walk. Because it’s a historic site, there is some information on the Internet about what the community was like there in the 1800s. What’s interesting about this place is that there’s buildings to explore a waterfall, bridges and a river. The trails, however are a bit technical which means they’re a little hard to manage. There’s many hills and roots. I can see on a nice summer day, it might get crowded, but we were there in January and there was no one else there, walking. There were people sitting in their cars in the parking lot however, The museums might be interesting to explore on a weekend when they’re open. But otherwise there are interesting things to explore here. There are signs about the area, see photos. And Port-o-Johns.The trail markings are difficult to follow, don’t bother trying just enjoy the river and the waterfall. Read up about the history of the place.

It was pretty cool. I was trying to do the Eagle Trail, which is on the other side of the eno, and the signage was not helpful at all. I ended up going back to my car and driving to the north lot, which was also poorly marked when i started hiking. It was a pretty walk, though.

It has nice trails, but a lot of trash around the river. Close to where th falls were it was busy, but not clean. There was a plastic fence up that people had crossed over. I would not recommend for small kids.

Great place outside the city to go for a walk and enjoy nature. Lots of trails by the river. The dam is such a nice spot to sit and relax. Saw a few people fishing as well.

Very nice park! The water was very brown and hard to see past your shoulders in. It was also really deep (that was most likely because it was raining the past few days) I do suggest bringing life jackets to it because the most popular swimming area is near a dam. An object did pass our group's legs 3 times, one of the times was my leg. I couldn't see it so I couldn't tell what it was. It was really pretty though and the hikes were very nice. In the water there was a stick you could stand on and rock you could sit on. I think you should go here but be careful in the water!
Brynn R — Google review
I walked through here and enjoyed the scenery. I miss the previous look, but the trails are nice and challenging for people and dog walkers. You will see dogs and owners in the water playing and having fun. There are poop bags available and all dogs should remain on a leash. There is a map available to see in the parking lot and port a potties to use. The mill is open to see. There is water all around to swim in. Picnic tables and much more to enjoy and see.
Shelia E — Google review
Whats not to love? A large wooded park along a remarkably clean river, with picnic spots, and operational water-powered mill, easy parking and access, sunny meadows and shaded forest spots... its a perfect outdoor getaway. Mountains-to-Sea trail passes thru, so there are trails you can hike almost forever both up and down stream. And, every year on the 4th of July they have the Festival for the Eno that raises money for land preservation. So much good music and crafts and food and education!

Cameron Indoor Stadium is the revered arena that serves as the hallowed home of Duke University's Blue Devils basketball, wrestling, and volleyball teams. With a seating capacity of just over 9,300 fans, this intimate and intense atmosphere resonates with the echoes of championship victories and resounding cheers. For true basketball aficionados, it is a sports Mecca where the pulse of college basketball comes alive amidst dedicated fans and thunderous applause.
As a sports fan...amazing experience...first time at Cameron...used the Duke waitlist and was offered general admission standing room tickets 48 hrs before the game so be ready for short notice travel plans...got in line 1.5 hrs before game time...they opened the doors at 1 hr point...these standing room tickets are on the edges of the student section which they offer up depending on expected student demand...initially started in corner just past the end line...after all the students arrived the back row was still open so they let the general admission ticket holders fill in so we wound up at almost center court...but make sure you have comfortable shoes and are able to stand for what was almost 4 hours (between waiting in line, game, post game).... Iconic experience...

The most important and historic stop on *Tobacco Road" for all college basketball fans is unquestionably Cameron Indoor Stadium on the campus of Duke University, in Durham, NC. Named for Eddie Cameron, a football and basketball coach in the 1920's - 1940s, the building's unique Gothic architecture and small, intimate atmosphere ooze history and invoke intensity. While you can expect to spend many hundreds of dollars -- if not thousands! -- to buy a sold-out ticket on the resale market for game day, stopping by when there is NOT a game allows you to quietly meander through the lobby and adjacent Duke Basketball Museum, and soak it all in. Having attended multiple games over the years, visited on non-game days, and been a fan of Duke and Coach K since childhood, I can say that paying a visit to Cameron Indoor is a memorable experience for *any* college basketball 🏀 fan, whether you love or hate the Blue Devils!

Being in the building made me want to watch Hoosiers again and made me reminisce about my jr. high basketball days!

Farmers Markets
Durham Farmers' Market has been a gathering place for growers, crafters, and musicians at Durham Central Park for over 20 years. Visitors can enjoy people-watching while exploring the colorful rows of fresh produce, local honey, flowers, cheese, pasta, and crafts. The market also offers food trucks like American Meltdown and Pie Pushers. With various farms represented at the market, visitors can find fresh produce, eggs, baked items, meats, and cheeses.
I love visiting the farmers market when I’m in Durham! The selection is always amazing, but my favorite part is the flowers. There’s something special about bringing home a fresh bouquet every time!

Great, I mean GREAT local produce and baked goods. Lots of arts and other things to see and by. I really enjoy going here every weekend.
Derrick P — Google review
Great farmer market with diverse vendors from local farms owners to bakery & coffee to native plants and local honey and even some crafts. Although still on the small side but has plenty to offer! With more potential to grow at a central location ☺️
Maggie — Google review
Great open air market! Committed to local business, this is a community hub with art, music, local food & produce, fresh flowers, and more than I could possibly list - no pets allowed in market though there is an artist craft market in the same area that does welcome pets. The produce is located in a covered pavilion safe from sun/rain but the rest of the market is uncovered. Free parking lot within walking distance and near a park!

very cute smaller scale farmers’ market, but a lot of variety of vendors, artists and food trucks! I just bought snacks/food for this first time visit (shout out Strong Arm Baking + Soul Cocina!🤤), but getting my pockets and bags ready for next time!

A good sized Farmer's Market with about 30-40 vendors including crafts, food trucks, and produce. There is a good crowd and they have the flow of traffic going one way as a COVID mitigation technique. People wear their masks here and abide by the rules. It's right next to a park so it's just super welcoming to head there and sit on a bench while eating some freshly purchased food. Since it's in the heart of Downtown Durham you could also visit some local places or wander about afterwards and check out some cool mural art.
Sky T — Google review
Really cute market with lots of veggies, meats, pastries, pottery, adult beverages and homemade/locally made goods. Definitely worth a visit, even if the weather is dreary. It seems like vendors prefer cash but do accept card payments as well. There were signed posted that dogs are not allowed under the covered part of the market.
Courtney C — Google review
What’s better than waking up on a Saturday, taking a short drive to Durham, and indulging in and supporting all of the amazing local vendors of your community? From the fresh flowers, to the divine cheeses, and the massive park for kids to run around - it’s no question why it continues to be such a growing success. With summer coming in just a few weeks, don’t miss out on exploring all that the market has to offer.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park is an indoor trampoline park chain that offers various attractions such as freestyle bouncing, dodgeball, and fitness programs. The Durham location features wall-to-wall trampolines in the main court and a Sky Tower for jumping into a foam pit. Visitors of all ages can enjoy activities like basketball dunking, dodgeball, and the slamball court. Despite some external cleanliness issues, the park itself is well-maintained.
We have been coming to sky zone for years, but in the last year or so we have been having the BEST experiences there. The manager has been incredible and the staff she has hired have made our visits so fun and memorable. My kids have the best time there in part because of the playful, kind, and happy staff. We will likely be getting a membership because we enjoy it so much!

We got family packages for kids. It’s very fun and the staffs are very nice here. We enjoyed our time!
Grace C — Google review
I’ve been here a few times and every single time, I get nickled&dimed and/or shaken down for some extra fee. If you want to charge more for entry, just charge more, don’t extort me. This time, the issue was that the trampoline socks that we brought from home didn’t display sky zone brand marks. They were in good order, fit properly, and had non-slip grip on them. I came to jump with my daughter and have a good time, but instead I sat on the bench while she jumped alone. We both had a blah experience, and I wish I hadn’t come here. Can’t you just work with the customers? We’re not your enemy. That’s why the place is totally empty even though there is no school today. You probably drove all the customers away. Edit: I’m lowering my review because at the end of the visit, my kid tried to buy something in the candy shelf that said 75 points, but they wouldn’t let her have it because when she rang it up it said 80. It was super clearly marked as 75. I pointed this out, but the clerk didn’t care at all or take any steps to rectify it. I’d put this in the category of bad faith. It isn’t a mistake. It’s deliberate. No honor.

Here’s the thing…… This place is pretty cool for a birthday party. We had our granddaughter’s birthday party here a few years ago and she loved it. We decided to take her again for just a fun day out and herein lies the problem. For myself, my husband and our granddaughter, the entrance fee was >$85. That price included their magical socks because…..well…..you need magical socks to jump on a trampoline. Not to mention that this fee is for about 2hrs of jumping. But you’re not ready to jump your heart out just yet. Unless you want to lose all of your personal items to the land of the unknown, you need to put your personal items in a locker….which you have to pay for as well. Granted it’s only .25 but it’s the principal! Now that you’ve been jumping for an hour or so you’re thirsty and/or hungry but first, you need to pay to get back into your locker to get your wallet to now pay for food. Fun outing but to literally nickel and dime you for every single thing is outrageous.

My son and his friends love playing here! The playground is clean, safe, and filled with fun activities that keep the kids entertained for hours. The staff are friendly and attentive, and it’s a great place for children to run, climb, and explore. We always have a wonderful time and highly recommend this place!
Cici Y — Google review
Sky zone of Durham has been amazing with how they have been recently. It isn’t just the food and fun experience during glow night but also with the staffing and management. From my visits throughout the last free months I have noticed a lot of new faces! I can’t wait to visit again I look forward to my next visit!
Smith A — Google review
Sky zone is a gem/gym in local Durham for sure! Friendly staff! Clean business with lots to do! Great for celebration parties, religious outings, team building & business events! Lots of options for refreshments! A great way to be active & have fun! Memberships were better options than one day pass so retuning for cheaper is the better deal! Kids love it & adults do too!
Bryan S — Google review
A monthly membership is around the same price as a day pass but it auto renews so make sure you cancel immediately. They claim to offer a student discount but when I showed my ID they said no and said I shouldn’t be upset because it’s only $2 anyway. Half of the trampolines were roped off for no reason at all. They have no specific area for younger kids. They make you wear their brand sock and if you have another brand the employees tell you you need go buy their socks. The only do this so the managers don’t get mad at them. And the managers only do it to make money. The employees told me they are watched by cameras and will get into trouble if managers see something wrong. The music inside is definitely picked for the employees and not for the kids. Maybe it’s a compromise to keep employees happy. Hopefully they’re being treated well. Socks are $12.50 per pair. I saw comments that you get free socks with the $22 membership but that’s not true. Even if you only use the foam pit you need their branded socks. They have food but it’s super overpriced. $6 for an icee. There’s not much near it but I assume that helps keep their rent low. Price are similar to other trampoline parks. (Except socks which are normally $3 and food.)

The Scrap Exchange in Durham is not your typical thrift store. This nonprofit organization aims to promote creativity, environmental awareness, and community through reuse. Founded with inspiration from an Australian organization, it offers a wide range of recycled materials, art supplies, and vintage items for DIY enthusiasts. The store's philosophy focuses on eco-friendly practices and conscientious management of donations. Visitors can expect a friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices while exploring the unique treasures that inspire creativity.
Truly nothing else like it. I visited from PA and wish so badly there was something this impressively useful near me!!

Youve been looking for this place your entire life. With all kinds of people and creatures walking around inside, this is a safe place to be anything you want to be… and also shop donated trash and discarded objects. Prices are decent. It is tough to find anyone who works there though… you can get lost in the layout. But there is also an art gallery with works you can ogle and be inspired by. Pack a lunch cause this place will take you all day.

Incredible! I'm addicted. And I've only been there once, and I live 1800 miles away. So many things! And so organized! Everyone was so nice, including other customers. It was REALLY hard to leave, even after a couple hours. The thrift store was nice too, but the Scrap Exchange is something special. I've never seen anything like it. Thanks for a great experience while we were on vacation.

I wish more cities had a place like the Scrap Exchange. So many perfectly good items for any craft! Next time you need an item for your project, consider looking here first before going to a big box store. I haven't tried any of their classes yet, but I'm sure they're fantastic and hope to try one soon.

I mostly wanted to leave a review to show my appreciation for their volunteers and the entire existence of this store in the first place! As a hobbiest who does both sewing and model train work, I HIGHLY recommend this place. There's so many things that normally I would have to dig out of the recycling or never think about going out and looking for! I love visiting here for materials!
SB — Google review
I like this place and have been coming for years but have been disappointed with my most recent visits; prices, first off, are getting a little ridiculous. A used, small ball of yarn costs $3-4. You can get a full skein at Michael's for about the same price. I've seen used Forever 21 dresses priced at $14-16, etc. like I understand the store needs to stay afloat but some of these prices feel a bit silly for secondhand goods :-/ Another thing that's not fun to deal with is there are increasingly aggressive homeless people in the lot that will sometimes follow you to your car, asking for or sometimes demanding money. While I feel for them, I have had experiences that have genuinely made me feel scared and unsafe.
Cmh W — Google review
The Scrap Exchange is an amazing space. Donated materials are sorted by type and fairly priced. My finds today included a 1L glass beaker, a bushel of crayons, some party decorations, a few flower ppts, nearly full tubes of oil paint, and polished stones. I will be back and I will bring friends.
Megan D — Google review
Fun place. Good place to find random things. They used to be great before covid, and they are slowly making their way back. Their sf/fantasy book selection used to be much larger which is kinda sad, but i have found some great kids books. The parking lot is so full of ENORMOUS potholes that is us hazardous to anyone without an off road vehicle. Overall I like it.

Nestled in the heart of Durham, the Durham County Main Library is a must-visit destination for both locals and travelers alike. This architectural marvel not only boasts an extensive collection of books but also serves as a vibrant community hub. Engage with nature at their outdoor amphitheater during events like the Spring Community Plant Swap, where you can trade plants and gain gardening wisdom from local experts.
I can’t understand why more people don’t just bring this library up in regular conversations. It is GORGEOUS! The beautiful straight lines, the classic architecture, the sky lights to provide endless amounts of sunshine, the wood staircase, the patio seating overlooking downtown area, the cute study seating towards the 4th floor, the sensory rooms to decompress the little ones, and the remarkable teen/youth area. This library is something you’d think would belong in a major metropolitan area and it’s here in Durham! I love it! I’ve made it a point to just visit once a month even if I’m not checking out a book. To sit quietly, meditate and take in the amazingly inspiring space. Thank you Durham for being the cool kid who doesn’t need to show off!!!!

This library offers a uniques experience for both adults and kids. The thoughtfully designed chairs, reading nooks, light fixtures, skylight, wall textures bring joy to anyone who spends some time here. Exceptionally calming color combinations and quirky architecture add to the experience. Although many of the features such as the recording studio, innovation lab, conference halls etc are closed due to COVID-19, general areas are available to public. Plenty of parking space and bike racks available.

I used to love this library, however the guy up on the 4th floor is like a want to be dictator. he only singled me out when I pulled out a container from my back pack he bombarded me to put it away, after I was already doing so, and then proceeded to come back and be condescending about how I wasn’t quick enough for his liking. Get a grip dude. Everyone around me has food and drinks but I didn’t see you coming to them?
Brooke R — Google review
We come here often and the library is great, however, Carolyn at the front desk seems to be in need of some professional development in the areas of community engagement and technology management with an emphasis in software navigation. Carolyn deleted information within my library card account and then struggled for 10 minutes in the system to secure us a private room. One of her coworkers literally had to take over to complete the task. Either get her some training or let her retire because she seemed to be overwhelmed and confused.

Very clean, super supportive staff with littles, and who can’t beat free ice cream and popcorn?! I wasn’t sure what to expect from this place but it delivered a good time! Bonus: it also delivered a good workout! I was concerned entering an empty parking lot upon i on a Saturday afternoon. I later came to appreciate that there wasn’t much of a crowd which made it super easy for us to move freely through the activities without waiting in any lines. I must say the 90 degree slides were a bit scary for me but nonetheless fun — definitely made for some good comedy video footage! The obstacle courses were yeah at the right level for me — moderate. You don’t have to be an athlete to complete them (and there’s the cheat code that you can zip through/pass any of them). The ziplining was ziplining. The super bonus for me was the free (or included) snack bar. We definitely took advantage of the cream with toppings bar and the slushees. All that to say I’d definitely go back. The only thing I’d do different is not get the 3-hour pass. We had done all there was to do in one hour, but we made the best of it and repeated some things and hung out at the snack bar stretching our stay to 2.5 hours.

Notasium is a unique music-based play space and school that offers an engaging environment for children to explore their musical talents. With a vibrant interactive play area, kids can enjoy activities like bouncing in the inflatable bounce house, sliding down a giant guitar, or participating in kid-friendly karaoke. The facility also features The Wonder Lab, where young minds aged six months to six years can dive into STEM learning through hands-on experiences with toys such as wind tunnels and light tables during 90-minute sessions.
Young kids really like it, and get to go wild together in a musical environment. Never gets old. The Notes for Tots class with Caitlin is a wonderful sing and dance circle. Caitlin is so in tune with the kids, I think she is single handedly responsible for them loving the class, the songs and the dances she teaches them. Really pays attention to them. This has really contributed to my grand daughter's social development, self esteem and joy in music and dance. I highly recommend it. Thank you so much Ms Caitlin!
Gordon F — Google review
My daughter has really enjoyed her time at Notasium and has taken the Jr. Notemakers class twice now. The teachers are friendly, creative, and make music fun for little ones. However, I was a bit disappointed this time around because the class was advertised as an independent learning experience meaning children would participate without parent assistance. In this session, nearly every child (except mine) needed a parent in the room to help, which changed the dynamic and made it confusing for my daughter since she was told it was a “kids-only” class. I still think Notasium offers great exposure to music and a wonderful space for kids to explore, but I hope future sessions keep a clearer structure between parent-assisted and independent classes.

Kids love this place! My friend's son had a party there recently and all the kids and some adults had a ball playing in the common area and singing along with the staff during the music time. My friend provided the decorations but everything was set up well. The party ran smoothly and the staff were on top of things. No complaints.

Been here several times and the kid loves it. Apparently there's a lull in kids mid-afternoon so that might be a good time to go if your kid doesn't like large crowds. I’ve gone to a few birthday parties here and each one has been great. They include play time and an activity. At one we made a home made kazoo which the kids loved.

I didn’t give 5 stars because they’re closed on Saturdays which is the one day I really want to take my children there. Otherwise it’s a great musically inspired play place. My boys love the slide and karaoke rooms. They also have a bounce house and plenty of other musical toys and instruments. It’s pretty small but everything is geared towards your child unleashing their inner musician.

Since it was a super hot day, we decided to check out this indoor play space! It was really neat. Lots of different areas to play in. The big guitar slide was really fun and I liked how the notes played when they were stepped on! With it being a hot Saturday morning, the space quickly filled up. The only downside is that it's not a little bit bigger.

Elmo's Diner is a quintessential American diner that captures the essence of comfort and community. With its cozy booths and welcoming atmosphere, it's the perfect spot for breakfast lovers since they serve it all day long. This locally owned gem has become a favorite among Duke students and Durham families, thanks to its friendly service and extensive menu that caters to everyone, including vegetarians.
I had a wonderful experience at Elmo's Diner! I tried the pancakes along with a plain omelette filled with turkey soy and American cheddar cheese, and I couldn't be happier with my choices. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, perfectly sweetened and served hot. The omelette was cooked just right, with the turkey soy adding a nice savory flavor, complemented beautifully by the melted American cheddar. I also ordered the apple cinnamon on the side, which was a delightful touch—sweet and spiced, it paired perfectly with the pancakes. The diner has a cozy atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Elmo's Diner for a tasty breakfast or brunch!

An old school diner vibe which was cool but the food lacks flavor. Nothing we ate had any seasoning. The service was the best part of our meal. Our waiter was great and the hostess was super friendly. Great people, but I would not return here.

I’m a plant based eater. This place came up when I searched “vegan options near me” in google maps. By the way, that search is great when the party is part carnivore and part plant based (as ours was). Upon being seated (approximately 15 minutes, not bad for a Sunday morning), I looked through the menu and was concerned I wouldn’t have any food options. When the wait staff member arrived, I asked about vegan options. I was delighted when she said” let me go get the special menu.” The special menu was a regular menu but all the vegan options were highlighted in pink and veggie options highlighted in another color. WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA! The place really met the needs of our diverse group. I’m a really big fan of the wait staff introducing themselves. Sadly, that didn’t happen. Other than that, it was a great experience. Additional note, by the time we left at around 10:15 on a Sunday, the wait looked huge. The line was out the door and around the corner. Arrive early or be prepared to wait if it’s Sunday.

I was searching for best places to have breakfast & pancakes near Chapel Hill as it's my young daughter birthday. The experience was not good, she did not like her french toast, their special sweet potato pancake was below regular and nothing special about it, and the vegetarian omelet was below standard compared to other places we visited, the veggies were not cooked well and no spices or flavor, just plain taste. I would not for sure return to the restaurant again as our experience was far from expectation and there are other places in town that are much better and very close.

Pretty underappreciated historical spot! Informative museum, well-thought out. Very nice staff. We were there on a day the auditorium had been rented out, so couldn't see the video. Nice, easy path to the buildings. A little disappointed we couldn't go into the house, but did peek through the windows. A really fun little thing to do in the middle of North Durham! Will return

One of the best museums in Durham, and hardly anyone visits. It's free. So much parking, including accessible. If you have never been, get up and go now.

This museum is a way to educate yourself about the history of tobacco. The people who work here are super friendly & nice. I don't like tobacco, a lot of people I care about smoke. 🥺 Their health is at risk. North Carolina made a lot of money in the tobacco industry. But I hope they can find something else. This stuff is harmful. Definitely worth a visit.

Very beautiful and well maintained historic site. Staff is knowledgeable, kind, and very helpful. Excellent hands on learning activities for the kids. Grounds are well maintained. Restrooms are clean, picnic area has sun & shade options; everything is very well done. Also serves as a wonderful reminder how lucky we are to live in the 21st Century!!

The museum about tobacco was interesting especially the old tobacco TV commercials. Even better is that admission is free. The buildings on a former farm were interesting to look at even though the crops weren't fully grown yet when I visited.

The staffs are very helpful. A great place to visit, so that you can know more about the history of the Duke family and the tobacco industry in its first stages. No ticket is needed.

Boxcar Bar + Arcade is a lively and entertaining spot in the heart of Downtown Durham, NC. It offers a wide selection of drinks and happy hour deals alongside retro gaming machines like Pac-Man, Street Fighter, and Super Mario. The arcade also features foosball, air hockey, and pool tables. Additionally, there's a spacious outdoor patio with views over the Historic Bulls Athletic Park.
I’ve been here several times, and the vibe is always super fun. I recommend paying in cash because the card machines tend to glitch. The pizza is good, so I’d recommend that. The drinks, not so much when I ordered an Old Fashioned, the bartender didn’t know what it had, and it didn’t taste good. The beer, however, is great! Keep in mind that while there’s no time limit for using the games, other people are waiting, so it’s best to rotate and share. The outdoor area is awesome, and despite the cold weather, the heating works perfectly. There’s also free parking nearby!

First time going Saturday night. It was an amazing place mix of classic arcade games and arcade food with a grown up feel. The menus have me so wanting to go back and try more things soon. Ms. Tyler was on register when ordering my pizza and her interactions were amazing. Her vibe made the experience from order to eat amazing. She went way above on customer service and I appreciated it a lot. A+ customer service bar and pizza side. We got the 2 pair pizza and pasta combo and it turned out to be really cool in a new modern way that I wasn’t expecting. Got the hot honey sauce on cheese, and for one who don’t like spicy at all it was good.

I loved this spot. The pickle pizza was amazing as was the mushroom truffle. $5 dollar drafts on Mondays? Yes, please! I like that they have different things going on each night of the week - I may have to go back to the singles night events on Thursdays. What a great place/way to meet someone. They had a ton of games, though I'd say some of their older games could use some servicing (sticky buttons or wouldn't take our coins). I had a blast. I'll be back for sure.

This place is AMAZING we went just yesterday and I felt the need to write this review! The place has an amazing atmosphere that kicks in right as you walk in, HUGE arcade plenty to do, they even have guitar hero so you know I had to! And it is nice place for families to come and hang out, kids can play games that rage from old-school to pop-a-shot while the adults can get a quick beer and watch a sports game. Amazing place to go to highly recommend! 5 STARS

Just left boxcar in Durham and I had a great time until I ordered a pizza from the kitchen which I have done countless times in the past with no issue, and I I always get a text notification, however tonight I was served by a man with glasses and a long ponytail that asked what’s your phone number so I can text you when your order is ready, i gave my number and said ok. So as the customer i go to resume playing games. I realize it’s been longer than 10 minutes and I haven’t gotten a text, so I go check to see if the pizza was ready and I when I do it’s been sitting in the window for idk how long but my pizza was not hot anymore. I asked the same guy to remake it bc it’s cold now and he said yea but then he also went on to say to me the customer, “you need to be responsible for your own food bc you are spending your money” why was this comment necessary or appropriate to make to your customer. Why are you trying to blame me when I never received a text letting me know it’s ready. The vibe in boxcar is set up to keep the customer busy playing games which I was, so it’s vital to communicate with your customer or setup proper expectations like a time frame or let me know you may not get a text so please come back and check the window in 5-10 minutes. So trying to blame me was wild to me. But he completely lacked professionalism and his customer service was terrible, so for him to keep saying he was the kitchen manager was really surprising. It was a tiny problem that could have been fixed easily with good customer service but instead was escalated bc of arrogance. It’s called hospitality! Everyone can’t do it! Boxcar should rethink who they have representing them as managers bc they are making you look bad! Please get someone with better customer service! The rest of the staff was amazing as usual and the drinks were great! But yall should think about replacing the kitchen manager with someone that wants to be there!

The Museum of Durham History is a small but impactful museum that showcases the rich regional history and culture through exhibits, artifacts, and spoken accounts. It delves into the African American experience in Durham, with a focus on the historic Hayti community and its contributions to cultural understanding. The museum also highlights significant events such as the surrender of southern armies in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida during the American Civil War.
The volunteer staff was knowledgeable on other area attractions and attentive to our questions and desire to know more about the area! We received materials, maps and brochures that were helpful as we took a self-guided walk around the west village and brightleaf!

Fantastic Musem - Lots of really interesting information (Durham has a really rich history!), and the staff is wonderful. They truly changed our day for the better. And on top of it, it's a free museum. Definitely go, and definitely donate.

The Museum of Durham History is a small museum in Downtown Durham. The museum has a parking lot with free parking and admission to the museum is free. I did not find the museum welcoming and felt that I was in their way. The quilt on the wall was my favorite part of the museum. There is a children's area too. I had expected more exhibits inside but I was glad there were some outside. I wanted to learn more about Durham, but the museum did not cover much. The exhibits may change, so other exhibits may cover the history of the city better

The venue allows outside catering, providing flexibility for food options. Parents can enjoy free coffee and tea while kids engage in educational activities.
We had the absolute BEST experience having our daughter’s 2nd birthday at The Wonder Lab! The facility is absolutely perfect for a toddler get together. The activities are engaging. The space is spotless. The employees (Brittany!) were so kind, organized and professional. Definitely recommend ordering the party upgrades. The convenience and quality were so so worth it! Thank you again. We’ll be back for more playtime!

The Wonder Lab Summer Camps are such a wonderful experience! The staff are incredibly thoughtful and creative, and they put so much care into making each day engaging. My son had a fantastic time—he came home excited and full of stories every afternoon. We’re so grateful for the positive environment they create and can’t wait to come back next year! Shout out to Kate & Saul for all of their hard work & to Ash for apparently being the best swing-pusher around! :)

We had our daughter’s third birthday party at The Wonder Lab and it was fantastic. The staff handled everything, so we didn’t have to set up, decorate, or clean up. We added the sensory stations, and the Playdough was so soft and fun. The space itself is safe and well contained, so the adults could actually relax and chat instead of chasing kids the whole time. Such an easy and fun experience for everyone.

My kids LOVE The Wonder Lab! We've visited the play space several times and it is always very clean and age appropriate for my kiddos. We decided to try the summer camp this year and my 4 and 5 year old loved it! They came home every single day excited to go back again. They were able to tell me about simple machines and brought home some very fun and engaging projects. We will be signing up again for next summer! Fingers crossed they decided to expand for 6 yr olds! ;)

My kids loved Wonder Lab Summer Camp! Every single day, they came home bubbling over with excitement to share what they'd learned—and then immediately wanted to play “Wonder Lab” at home. It was amazing to see how engaged and inspired they were. The camp is exceptionally well organized, and the communication with families is top-notch. I always felt in the loop and confident that my kids were in a safe, thoughtful, and creative environment. It’s a rare thing to find a camp that truly sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and makes learning so joyful—Wonder Lab absolutely nails it. We can’t wait to come back next summer!

From Broadway musicals to top-tier concerts and comedy shows, DPAC caters to diverse tastes and interests. Amazing venue. Very beautiful setting. I was there for the weekend to attend Luftgekühlt 11 and take photos for Bramo (the app that expands the show and has car details and more depth to connect and bring their story's to life) these were so.e shots of the event and campus. Very well run facility.

Made our way out here for the Kevin James Comedy Tour. I had never been in this part of Durham, it is very inviting with a cool vibe. The DPAC is located next to the minor league baseball team……which I now want to make it out to a game…..restaurants all around and lots of parking decks. The center itself is really nice, clean and easy to access. Their security was a breeze and they along with the door greeters were super friendly and welcoming. Everyone was helpful and we quickly found our seats. They have some snacks for sale along with soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. We just got a soda and water because we had gotten dinner outside prior to the show. The venue is warm with lots of cozy seating. The sound and lighting were great. Once the show was over we were able to walk out pretty quickly. The venue itself is a five star. My only complaint is in the parking garage, even though they are conveniently located near the venue, they only had one elevator and lots of people waiting. The good thing is that even though it looked like a jam packed nightmare , we actually got out pretty quickly. Parking attendants have it set up perfectly and you are on the road home within minutes. Overall a great experience and definitely will try to get to more shows here!
William H — Google review
Spectacular venue for concerts, musicals, plays, and whatever else they may host. The seating is very comfortable, well spaced, and straightforward to navigate. The lobby is really nice and has some basic refreshments available including beer and wine, and hot nuts! Not kidding. The building is beautiful inside and out, totally modern and high quality. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is available nearby in several parking decks and surface streets as well. The area around DPAC is also great and very cool to explore. Restaurants, hotels, the American Tobacco District, and downtown Durham all within walking distance. Such a great place to have nearby, it is a treat to see shows here. Recently attended the Sound of Music production (which was excellent!) and also a Wailin’ Jenny’s concert (also excellent!).

DPAC is a great gem hosting everything from the Broadway touring shows to cute little candlelight concerts to the Lucy Dacus concert, where I coincidentally got married on stage!! We usually get the cheap seats in the balcony but there is truly no bad place to sit in this theater. It's always clean and well-staffed with people available to help you find your seat and answer questions. I always have a great time at DPAC!

I recently attended the Tye Tribbett “We Outside Tour” at DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center), and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful — everyone made the evening smooth and enjoyable. I also love that the venue is cashless, which made transactions quick and convenient. The atmosphere, sound, and seating were all top-notch. DPAC truly knows how to create a first-class experience for its guests. I can’t wait to attend another event here!

In addition to their delicious hamburgers and all-beef hotdogs, patrons can also enjoy a pint of their homemade brew.
Bull City Burger and Brewery is one of those places where you walk in and instantly know the food’s gonna be good. The burgers? Incredible. I had the peach raspberry sour beer and it was super refreshing, perfectly tart and fruity. Chill vibe, friendly staff—definitely worth a stop in Durham!

Best burger ever! Seriously. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table. You're off to a great start when they make a point of asking how you want your burger cooked. And it's seriously good. The pickle chips are delicious as well! If you're in Durham, do yourself a favor and grab a burger!

I got the over easy burger and it was excellent. The ingredients tasted fresh and it was well cooked and seasoned. The fries were okay, nothing special but not enough to deter the meal. They have a very tasty house hot sauce that I'd reccomend. I'd reccomend this restaurant if you like burgers. I'd say pricy but worth it. I'll have to come back for the secret burger sometime. Cool concept.

I loved the duck fries and the fried pickles were good. The pimento cheese burger was just okay at best. Daughter liked her hotdog. Kids eat free Mondays so that is a plus.

Came here on a Friday night and decided to come back again within the same week because it was soo good!! Honestly, the best burger I have ever had is from here! The shadoe burger! I definitely recommend it :) The first time we came was on a Friday night before closing and it was pretty slow. The next time we came was a Sunday around 5pm and it was sooo busy!! We probably waited over an hour to order and get our food, but it didn't upset us because that is just how GOOD this place is to wait. The service is amazing, the food is amazing, and their vibes are great. I got the shadoe burger both times because it was DELICIOUS! The patty was perfectly cooked and oozed with juice. You cannot go wrong with any of the fries. We tried to duck frites and crispy fries and both were FIRE. And we also had to try their award winning chili. The chili was delicious! That is definitely why it is award winning. One extra thing that I loved was their soda fountain. They didn't have the traditional coke or pepsi products, because they had their own line of colas! We tried every single one plus the lemonade and have concur that each one is tasty. My personal favorite was the vanilla cola. If I lived by here, I would come here every week just for that burger. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it.
Chassidie L — Google review
Really delicious food! It seems like they have frequent specials and creative items on the regular menu as well. We had the biscuit burger- a special for a music festival down the street- and it was delightful along with the pimento kale dip. Can’t wait to return!

Hadn't dined @ Bull City since pre pandemic. Things have changed in taste since that time ( & burger appeared smaller). The bun wasn't soft and had to ask for mayo to apply to dryness of the buns that touch meat (sauce was all on the underside of lettuce, next up cheese). The fries were ok, but l remember them being so much better in taste & appearance. I'm not saying I'll not dine here again, because the staff were courteous and friendly. But it will take awhile.

What a sweet little shop! The ice cream is rich and delicious. They do, indeed, serve hot coffee and lattes, too. The shakes are decent as well. They also have ample seating available, but I imagine it gets busy in summer. I am so glad that we have stumbled upon this gem.

our recent Parlor visit 10-18-25 went poorly unfortunately: the wait was only a few people deep so that was fine but - 1. they would only make a shake with soft serve ice cream and not with the multitude of flavors on the board, 2. with two of four people in our party served the employee disappeared in a back room. We waited, and waited, made our way to the register where i explain we're not ready to check out yet because 2 of 4 have yet to get ice cream. "He went on break".......what? well we didn't know that and no one took over our group. "OH well any employee over there can help you." ya I understand that but now there's only 1 server helping the line of patrons. "I'm sorry sir but THIS is where you PAY, over THERE is where you GET the ice cream." I paid for 2 of 4 potential ice creams and when the auto-gratuity screen popped up, laughed out loud and advised the lil fella - "you won't mind if I go 'no tip' right? You were presented with a customer service opportunity to shine and you chose not to." Too many other places for ice cream to tolerate that nonsense.
Michael B — Google review
This shop is a hidden gem! The service was very good and the staff was friendly. The quality of the ice cream is top-notch, creamy, and rich with a fresh homemade taste that really stands out. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a treat. Prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the high quality. My only complaint is the limited selection of flavors. While the options available are delicious, a broader range would really elevate the experience. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit! Thank you guys

The food was ok. The atmosphere was nice and the service was good. I may have to try a different pizza because the fried chicken pizza wasn’t what I expected it wasn’t that good. The mozzarella sticks were A1 yuuum. The mexicam cokes were icing on the cake. I’d try it again.

Brightleaf square is so beautiful, and seems to be making a comeback with great new local businesses. But the parking prices just keep going up… just a few months ago it was first two hours free and then $2.00 an hour after that, and was run through a reputable parking app. Now it’s $3.00 an hour, you have to enter your credit card info into a private pay site every time, and only a handful of businesses are validating. The parking lots are sitting 95% empty most of the time, and I’m sure it’s hurting the businesses.

Cute area for dining out. We really enjoyed Niko's. The service was great and the food was delicious. Parking was a little difficult on a Saturday evening, but we managed to eventually find something.

There are some very unique restaurants and stores in Brightleaf Square with good variety. I will say that the diversity of stores is fairly good although they can be over priced depending on which store you're going to. Can't beat though that there is Market and Otis with a very large patio, Saint James with amazing seafood, Rose's with great eats and treats, Clouds Brewing, etc etc. Parking is available in 2 large lots.

Historic, fabulous, outdoor, walking shopping and eating district, loves and spent many fun days here. Satisfaction’s, Devine’s, Torreo’s long time staples in restaurants. School Kid Records, Bull City Olive Olive, boutiques, cafes, pastry and coffee shops, good place for kids and families. Parking it tight, few free wheelchair accessible parking spaces, small paid lot, some free parking near or behind some places like Devine’s. Downtown Durham parking is always tight or pay lot. Fun place, must visit when in Durham NC!

Brightleaf square is a must visit location in downtown Durham. The historic nature of the property is worthwhile in itself, nevertheless the great businesses within. Parking across Main Street is the best option, as street parking is very limited and the lot across is free.

Museums
Non-profit organization
Kidzu Children's Museum is a hands-on, interactive museum designed to inspire young children through creative play. The museum offers themed play areas and a variety of interactive exhibits and activities. One of its highlights is the Flexible Forest, which includes a climbing wall, tree house, and crow's nest for kids to explore. Additionally, the Farm to Fork exhibit teaches children about locally grown food and healthy eating habits. The museum also features the Forest Theater for artistic expression and drama performances.
It’s funny. I used to live in Chapel Hill and would take my toddler to Kidzu. I really enjoyed the museum and convenience, but once we moved to Raleigh I was super excited to live in close proximity to Marbles Children’s Museum. I was so impressed by how big it was. Fast forward 4 years and oh how do I miss Kidzu. It’s the perfect size to explore but not exhaust the kids (or parents!). It’s enriching, warm, and magical. We went back recently and now that my toddler is older (5 1/2) she’s the perfect age for the maker space. Having all of those materials to create with was so inspiring to her. We also enjoyed the Ada Twist traveling exhibit while we were there. It was so neat. In the future I think we may make the trek all the way back to Chapel Hill just for a calmer, gentler, but lovely kexperience.

We had a wonderful time at this museum! The price is very reasonable. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The variety of play areas was a lot of fun to explore. I like that there were activities for both my 1.5 & 4.5 year olds. Definitely worth a visit!
Brittany B — Google review
As indoor kids museums go, Kidzu is a great small 2 hour visit for any family with kids under 10. There’s just enough to do for young kids between the Maker space, imaginative play areas - video board and dress up or restaurant, and climbing structures. And with the cost being 1/4 of other kids museums, it’s easy on the budget. The quiet space to read is also really neat for those that need it. With older kids we may visit again but I would highly recommend this place for kids toddler to 6! However there is a lot to fix in this place and it’s truly a 3.5 star review here. There are many busted items that need repair or some TLC, the climbing wall gets no use, and many of the dress up items are tattered. There’s no staff walking around cleaning up items, instead two sitting up front doing nothing but waiting. The space needs a good dusting and cleaning too.
Nick D — Google review
Brought a 3yr old, 5yr old, and 8yr old here. They all LOVED it. The woman running the Makery was absolutely the best, super patient with the kids doing crafts and let them make lots of different things. We could have easily spent all day here. I also appreciated their sanitation and mask protocols.
B — Google review
Brought my 2yr old and 4yr old daughters here while we evacuated from the hurricane. They had a BLAST. We reserved a spot online, the bookings are spaced out to allow for smaller crowds. The staff greater us and informed us of everything up front. The “makery” station was my favorite and allowed them to independently create arts and crafts.

Its located inside the mall, just so you don't get lost! My 5 and 1 1/2 yr old had a blast for hours. Lots of fun interactive play stations, things to climb and hide in and just use your imagination with! I was very happy with out visit, and if we are ever in NC again we'll be sure to visit again!
Jennifer J — Google review
Kidzu is an awesome place for kids to run and play. There are tons of different types of things to do, including crafts, rockwalls, interactive projectors, reading/story time,a builders workshop, an indoor tree house, and much more. Additionally, there is a calendar of events that brings a wide variety of one-off activities in. I've been many times, and I've always had a good experience with the staff and the other kids/families there. My kids are currently 2 and 4, and they can spend 1-3 hours here no problem. This is a family favorite, and part of the rotation with Marbles and the Durham Museum of Life and Science. Also, it is inside of mall, which has easy options for food as a part of the trip.
Daniel E — Google review
Enjoyable experience but a bit over priced for a small location. We paid $18+ for a one-room area. It also seems a bit odd to charge for adults, when there is nothing in here for adults. But obviously an adult should accompany a minor. I would rather Over the Moon (pay for kids, not adults) or Marbles (a lot more bang for your buck). Nice space and my toddler enjoyed, just won’t be a frequent spot. Employees at the check in were very kind and professional, and it seemed like it was cleaned often!

Durham Distillery, established in 2013 and opened to the public in 2015 by Melissa Katrincic and Lee Katrincic, is a small craft distillery that has gained recognition for its premium gins and liqueurs. The distillery's flagship brand, Conniption, has received numerous national and international awards for its American dry and navy-strength gins.
Loved this distillery! The weekend bartenders took such great care of us! They were so knowledgeable and taught us so much while we sampled our flight. The gin was so good too, I loved that you could smell each ingredient as they kept them on the counter. We loved them so much that when we got home we ordered a bottle (we flew with carryons, otherwise we would have bought bottles there). The canned gin and tonics were FANTASTIC too. I highly recommend visiting.

The tour is a fun experience, lots of good info about infusing botanicals and how that process works. The company purchases 95 proof ethanol and infuses flavors on-site. Tour includes samples of all their bottled products. Could be improved by including free cocktail.

Waller Family Farm, situated in Durham County, is a functioning farm specializing in strawberries, vegetables, and beef cattle. It offers the opportunity to pick your own sweet strawberries during the summer season. The farm provides a convenient hand washing station for visitors to rinse their hands and arms after picking berries. It is advisable to avoid using Dove soap as it contains harmful synthetic fragrance.
Great place to pick your own strawberries. Doe not look like they are organic. I recommend you rinse your hands and arms with water at their convenient hand washing station after you finish. Skip the Dove soap though because it contains harmful ingredients including, but not limited to synthetic fragrance. I will rinse my berries with Thieves Fruit & Veggie cleaner, let them air dry and store them in a glass container in my fridge! Yummy!

Had a wonderful time with my girls here. Best part about this place is the fun continues for days with the strawberries and the many dishes we can prepare with them. My girls had much fun and didn’t want to leave. Both teenagers they actually protested going to this strawberry farm but after our visit they are ready to go back

Love this local family strawberry farm! Great location between Chapel Hill and Durham. They are open for pick your own strawberries and when they are not busy they have pre- picked. They have containers you put your berries in so that they can weigh accurately as their scales are calibrated to account for the weight exactly so you don't get overcharged. Early morning is the best time since the rows are checked that morning to open the best areas for picking and its less crowded. The field is very well maintained and clean in the rows so easy for the whole family to enjoy picking including small children. There is ample parking. Per pound is just under $2.

Great experience! Dirt parking lots, large fenced in strawberry field. Easy to social distance at. Quality produce and lots of room for kids to run.

We really looked forward to going to this strawberry farm. A friend suggested it and we thank them for it as we're new to the city and state. You pay for a bucket and fill it with as many strawberries you can carry. Red and ripe.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of games, from spell-slinging to racing, in a spacious and welcoming environment. The arcade is also available for corporate events and birthday parties, with staff members who are patient, helpful, and knowledgeable about the VR experiences offered. Customers have praised the accommodating nature of the staff and the diverse range of games available at Augmentality Labs LLC.
Our son had the best birthday party at Augmentality Labs! The staff were super accommodating and monitored the games so they could offer help to those who needed it throughout the entire session. All of the kids had a blast, and it was nice that there were a large selection of both individual games as well as group games (where everyone was interacting virtually). They even had some fun “old school” console games in the back! I highly recommend Augmentality for a birthday celebration!

This place was awesome! So much so that we paid for another 30 minutes. I took my 8 y/o niece and 11 y/o son, and they had a blast! They were very patient when explaining the equipment to the kids, and helping throughout their experience. Very clean, professional, and organized. They truly have a gamers dream in there. By the way, the couches are super comfortable for you parents out there 😆 Loved it! Will be going back every chance we get.

We had Augmentality Labs join us onsite for 2 corporate events. It was a little tricky getting everything connected to Cisco's Fort Knox network, which was an issue on our end. Everyone enjoyed the games provided and that they could watch them live on a big screen. We'll definitely keep them in mind for future events!
Cheryl J — Google review
Great place to spend time with family or friends. Everyone in our group had a great time. I suggest the bar fight game. The staff was very friendly though they did have some trouble working out the glitches in the game. The layout is simple, but the games are fun.
Emily G — Google review
This was an amazing experience that I would recommend for adults, kids, and families! We were in town for a short vacation and our 9-year-old noticed the Augmentality Lab while on a morning walk with his dad. We booked a 30-minute session for the entire family for Friday night (Mom, Dad, and 15, 13, and 9 year old sons). Our host, Devin, got us hooked up and started right away after a quick intro to the equipment. I am not a gamer, but even I got the hang of things pretty quickly! Of course, the boys were off to the races like they'd been doing it from birth even though it was their first time. There was non-stop laughter from everyone in our family! The 30 minutes went by so quickly. Fortunately, there wasn't a group after us, so we got to buy another time slot. The kids left us in the dust and went off to kill some zombies in Arizona Sunshine while we nearly exhausted ourselves with Rhythmatic and then had a blast with Drunken Barfight (a guilty pleasure if there ever was one)! When it was all over we couldn't stop laughing and telling stories about the fun we had. It was so great, we booked another 30 minute session for Saturday (this time with a Groupon). We would have done more time, but they were booked! We were so happy to see Devin again. I can't say enough wonderful things about him. Not only is he a wonderfully informative and attentive host, he's just really an all-around nice guy and he made our experience that much better. If you are even considering trying out the VR experience, I highly recommend you give Augmentality Labs a try. One word of caution though. When you get into the VR world you have the feeling you are Uma Thurman kicking butt and taking names, but in the real world you look more like Steve Urkel, so make sure to record your friends and family!
Shannon B — Google review
This place is awesome! The staff are nice and informed us about the experience beforehand. There is plenty of room and tons of games. We had a great time in the 30 minutes we chose, we should have got more time because it goes by so fast. I totally recommend this experience for families, groups of friends even couples.

Had my son’s 8th birthday party here and was so pleased with the way it went. Most of the party attendees hadn’t done VR before and the staff was so patient and helpful. We had the best time celebrating my niece’s 3rd birthday at Angel Island Fun Park, and a huge part of that was thanks to Jermaine! From start to finish, he was absolutely fantastic. Super friendly, professional, and beyond helpful—Jermaine made sure everything was set up just right and that we had everything we needed throughout the party. He was so patient with the little ones and so attentive to the adults, it really felt like he cared about everyone having a great time. It’s rare to find someone who goes the extra mile like that, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Jermaine, thank you for making the day stress-free and so much fun. We truly appreciate you and can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing experience at Angel Island Fun Park for my niece’s 3rd birthday party! From the moment we arrived, Jermaine went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. He was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and genuinely kind. You could tell he cared about making the day special—not just for the kids, but for the adults too! The park itself is fun, clean, and perfect for young children, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was Jermaine’s exceptional customer service. He checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed and even helped coordinate some of the party logistics with a big smile and a can-do attitude. Thank you, Jermaine, for making my niece’s birthday party such a memorable one. We’ll definitely be back—and recommending Angel Island Fun Park to everyone we know!

Not a bad place, just think of it as the Walmart of play places. Inexpensive, huge, and on par with expectations. It is birthday party central for kids under 8. Pro tip: cash only Tip for owner: While I love that everything was free for me... Your staff did not charge me to get in, and did not charge me for the concessions I "bought." I was totally fine with paying, but they literally did not want to take my money.

We had a great experience at the new Wheels Roller Rink! The old “Wheels Fun Park” amusements are closed, the new renovated roller rink is excellent. The facility is new and clean but still retains an old school vibe. The rentals are reasonably priced and in new/excellent condition. The staff were perfect. The music volume wasn’t loud at all, to me it seemed just right, so they must have read the feedback. Overall, we had a great time and will be back.

PERMANENTLY CLOSED!!! I’m not sure why there are still operating hours on the website, but this lot sold to the City of Durham December 2020. I live in the area and sometimes I see people come by with their kids, but don’t waste your time. For a while it was a Covid vaccine center and now it is just parking for Amazon or the construction of Hoover Road park across the street.
Alex C — Google review
Short and simple review here. There are problems that can easily be addressed and I understand why it wasn't packed on a Sunday afternoon. The Good Staff were great, facilities were clean, and equipment/floor in good condition. The lighting was great no matter where you were, and the carpet was perfect for people who are new to skating. The Bad The following things need to be addressed or I don't see this place lasting long. The music was way too loud. I love loud music, especially at a concert, but it was so loud that I downloaded a decibel app to get a rough idea and it was hanging around 94-106db. Anything over 85db is considered harmful especially with children. I'd say about half of the people there were kids under 10. However, you aren't allowed to wear any earplugs, or headphones. We had to leave early because everyone was getting headaches. The $25 pass is disingenuous at best and a scam at worst. This pass pays for your entrance, rental, and gives you what looks like a lot of video game time. It's like 5 games total. There's no air hockey, or normal video games. It's all tickets or grab machines. How to address the issues: Buy a decibel meter off amazon and use to set your speaker outputs. Then place it by the DJ and keep it under 85. That's still plenty loud to drown out conversations and keep the party going. Ditch the claw machines and put in more traditional games that people can gather around and cheer each other on. Even bowling alleys have air hockey. If that's not an option, the $25 option should be $20 max or it just doesn't have value.
Chad S — Google review
When my family couldn't afford the super expensive Palace Point prices; we'd always go to wheels for a fun time! I miss this place. I miss the simplicity of it all. The DJ's were always so energetic, the food was pretty good, the play area was usually always clean, and the skating rink was (of course) a HIT! I hope that this place reopens one day. Thank you for all the fun memories, Wheels ❤️

Great place! Just pricey. Suggest investing in getting your own skates if you like to go regularly, so you don’t have to always pay for them there.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy a variety of food options and arcade games while watching the races from ample seating around the track.
First time here and trying to desperately plan my return back!! This was a lot of fun, highly recommended it! Although I wish it wasn't as expensive for one race, but they do offer student/matinee pricing.

Beware of scams at RushHour Karting RTP. On 8/29 in the afternoon, the girl at the front desk near the entrance took $20 from me, claiming it was a “reservation fee” that had to be paid in cash. When I went to pay for my actual race, none of the other staff had any idea what this fee was. One staff member walked back with me to the front desk and helped me get my $20 returned. I don’t think I was the only one scammed that day. I gave her a new $20 bill, but when she returned it, I got back an old $20 bill, which makes me believe she had already pocketed mine. This is a clear scam happening under your business, and it is completely unacceptable. Management needs to address this immediately to protect customers.

Great place to race cars! The only thing is that you need to get your tickets on line with a specific time otherwise you need to wait to get a turn. If you wait there is an arcade and a bar where you can get drinks.

Please fix your website that is loaded with false advertising!!!!!! Clearly states in the pricing section that you can make online reservations up to 3 days in advance with pricing stating that FIVE rides is $90. However, when you actually go to book it, it is $90 for THREE rides. The 5 rides for $90 is only for walk ins and you will wait forever to ride!!! This is called "baiting and switching" and is false advertising. The entire staff knows it is inaccurate on the website as we have called and talked to multiple employees who admit it is inaccurate. DO BETTER! No excuse for a chain to not be able to have an accurate website. In response the owner's reply: exactly it is false advertising. I did not misread or misunderstand your website, so you do not need to explain anything to me at all. It is crystal clear. Go click on "pricing" on your own website and it clearly states, "Arrive & Drive $25/ride." Or Racing Credits "Skip the line by booking online up to 3 days in advance. 3 races $60, 4 races $76, 5 races $90" etc. So, NO WHERE in your pricong info does it state that rides are $30/ride. BUT, when you try to book online, the prices are actually not what you say and are $30 per ride. That is FALSE ADVERTISING and BAITING AND SWITCHING because you are advertising one price for booking online but that is not the actual price. Please don't try to explain this further, fix your website. Simple. You replied to my review very quickly so you can also take time to correct your website. Very disappointed.

USA Ninja Challenge Durham is an exciting year-round program designed for kids aged 2 to 17, blending elements of gymnastics, climbing, cross-training, and track & field into a thrilling obstacle course experience. This innovative approach not only meets the physical needs of children but also fosters creativity and fun in their fitness journey. The instructors are highly skilled and provide personalized attention even in larger classes, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to thrive.
This place has been a safe haven and outlet for my introverted kids who desperately need physical exercise that we can reliably provide. The coaches are wonderful and have really mentored our 3 boys. They even encouraged them to enter the competitions, where my kiddos have found themselves standing on the podium with medals! So happy we chose to check out this gym. It Is, unfortunately, children only. I have asked numerous times if they would allow adults to train...I certainly would.

We love ninja! They have a homeschool class where our son thrives and adores his teammates. He also loves free play Sundays. This was the first activity we found for our son that wasn't full of macho junk and bad messaging for boys. The instructors use positive language and encouragement to help kids success and they encourage them to do their personal best and always strive for more. The owner Stephen has gone above and beyond to make all of the families feel welcome and he has hear feedback about programing and met the needs of each child. I'm tremendously impressed with the entire operation. Highly recommend sending your kids here! The courses are really great and they change regularly keeping our kids engaged. The space is air conditioned and clean, colorful and inviting. The kids are able to play after class in the hangout area and there's tons of space for parents to sit and work or watch their kids swing around. Fantastic space for mental and physical fitness!

My oldest started classes here in 2021 and we cannot recommend this place highly enough. The quality of the staff/coaches is incredible and my kids have so much fun here. It's both wonderful for a fun sport and a way for kids to let out their energy, as well as providing top notch coaching for the kids who want to be competitive. IMO it's the best ninja gym in the Triangle for a fun, supportive, and quality experience.

I was nervous about signing my sensitive son up for ninja class, but wanted to get him moving. I contacted the owner to ask him about my concerns about the messaging the kids might get there and his kindness and openness absolutely floored me! He is a rare gem in the physical/sports world! And on top of that he and the coaches were open and kind about incorporating feedback to improve the structure of the class, which they 100% did! I HIGHLY recommend this gym!

Brewery
Fullsteam Brewery, located in the heart of Durham, is an industrial brewery space that offers a unique experience for beer enthusiasts. They take pride in using North Carolina's natural bounty to create memorable and crave-worthy beers.
Awesome brewery! Beer is very much above average with a good selection and the staff and great at guiding your choice. I didn't eat here but they have food and everything looked legit af. Taproom is really cool with plenty of seating and a nice selection of games. I tried a girl Scout cookie pairing and was not disappointed! 👍🏻👍🏻

Durham’s go to brewery & restaurant for the BEST beer in the city. Atmosphere is great, but beer selection is better and the ones I like are superb. There are three areas - outside, inside & bar. Great to find a space that works for you. Parking is paid - private or you walk a mile or so, but worth it.
David D — Google review
Such a great place to do a beer flight and get some yummy food. This collard green kimchi grilled cheese was AMAZING, and I washed it down with various beers in a 4 variety beer flight.
Lyla M — Google review
Stopped by for some quick beers. I opted for their Hazy on tap. When I visited early August, it was very hot and humid out. There were only some fans on, and no AC was turned out (not sure if it is available). Not too busy for the afternoon. Parking is extremely difficult here. You may need to park a few blocks away. Read signs carefully. Lots of construction as well.

Stopped in while visiting Durham from Delaware. It was a hot day but the giant fan kept things nice and cool. The bartender was incredibly friendly and competent. The food and beer were decent. The Brewery itself is in a neat old brick building. It's worth a visit.
Brett S — Google review
I am so attracted to this brewery and have no idea why. The beer was phenomenal, the food was out of this world, and the staff was beyond words. This establishment is one of the greatest to say the absolute least. It’s full of nothing but a good time. You want to play a board game? Go for it? You want a SIQ dank shirt? They got it. The food was incredible. I always hunt for a veggie burger on tour; preferably one with a beyond/impossible patty. These guys had the Beyond Vegetarian Burger!! With the special sauce!! The special sauce is really what pulls the pickles, onions, cheese, etc., all together. It’s the blanket on the pig!! I also sat and wrote a letter and doodled a doodle here!! It’s a great place for it! Lots of open space and places to move around too! They even had a bunch of plants all around! If you are ever in town please stop by here. It’s full of a good time and a pretty cheap tab. Hopefully I will get to see you guys again next year!

Absolutely fantastic brews in a really cool space. Megan was super helpful and knowledgeable about the different beers and led us to find our group favorite...the ASDR! She was able to describe the different flavor profiles in a way that was spot on and helped us pick options for our flights that we loved. She was very friendly and checked on us regularly. She and all of the staff that spoke with us were great! Highly recommend to check this place out!
Liz R — Google review
Their beer is delicious, but the brewery itself is just okay. They didn't have a lot of their good beers on tap the last time I was there like Humidity, Rocket Science, and Coffee is for Closers. Super friendly staff though!

Wallace Wade Stadium is a horseshoe-shaped sports arena located amidst pine trees that has been hosting Blue Devils football games since 1929. The stadium has a pleasant layout and comfortable bleachers that provide an enjoyable experience for the spectators. While some may not like the wristbands required for alcohol consumption, overall, it is a great facility with friendly staff who ensure guests' comfort during hot weather by allowing them to sit in shaded areas.
As someone that’s always wanted to take a tour of Duke University, this is about the best you can get! Before you even get close to the stadium you see a freaking castle! The entire campus is beautiful and then we got to the stadium! It wasn’t huge or anything but it was very nice and clean, the staff was really nice as well. We also beat FSU which is also a plus. Even after the game we got to walk back through the castle dormitories and the students were so nice waving at us! Definitely would suggest going here for your first college football game (this was my second).

awesome stadium with good food and vibes. they have bojangles at some stands and they always have a sponsorship with free goodies!

What a great place to catch a football game. Easy parking with a friendly staff. Lots of things to see and do. Clean restrooms and seating area. Nice and wide stadium seating won't leave you wondering if you'll fit. The sound system is top notch and you can hear everything and see it all on jumbo screens.
Russ R — Google review
This is a really great place to catch the Blue Devils games. Parking is free and is only a short walk to the stadium through tree lined streets. Traffic can get very busy on game days so arrive early Drinks and concessions are very reasonable pricing, and there are plenty of restrooms very close so you don’t have to walk too far. The sound is great, and the views are amazing from every seat. The Dollar Shave Deck is awesome and worth the price. Love it here. Highly recommended.

1st Duke game. Parking was easy for handicap. Short walk, easy entrance. Tons of food options. Comfortable seating, we choose end seats and could see field really well.
JM D — Google review
On one hand, layout is excellent and every seat has great view. Great layout to watch a football game. Cool stadium. On the other hand, staff were awful and rude. I totally understand why people hate Duke, now. Venue unprepared for weather and many were suffering from heat, many leaving early because they couldn't get relief and it became very dangerous. Parking sucks.
Christopher G — Google review
Not bad. Event staff was fairly clueless and unprepared to handle a crowd (and the stadium was not even full). For example, a band aid was needed and several employees had no idea where a first aid kit was, so they sent us inside the student rec center, where they were similarly confused. Decent venue though.

Incredible atmosphere! Duke homecoming weekend! Celebrating 100th anniversary. Down 20-0 in the 3rd quarter to bitter rival UNC. Score 21 unanswered to win! Go to a game! Super fun experience! Phenomenal DJ The DUMB band is awesome (that’s the Duke University Marching Band). You can tour the Duke Basketball museum before the game! I also highly recommend eating on campus before the game. The food option in the West Union are amazing.

The open fishing pier at Rolling View is such a great place to throw in a line, catch a fish, and pass a few pleasant hours. Nice relaxing place to fish and enjoy the birds singing, meet new friends, and even enjoy the beauty of a sunset! The Rangers and staff are so friendly and informative, from the gate to the folks patrolling. My wife and I really enjoy this neat little spot to unwind and kick back a spell!

Beautiful, quiet campground! Nice spacing between sites, and well maintained. Lake activities, playground area, lots of trees. But if you can't see amenities, it's a challenge to find them. Directional signs could some work. When you check in they give you directions to your site, but it's hard to find your way out. No signs pointing to anything , even the entrance/exit!
Fon D — Google review
Shady sites, many with a water view. Good hiking nearby. Mountains to Sea trail connects to the park and there are other trails a short drive away. There's also a decent lake beach and a put-in for those with boats. Bathrooms are a little dated but are clean.
Scott R — Google review
We stayed at Rolling View site B37. This site has electric (50amp, 30amp and 2 110 plugs) and water (water was very brown colored). While this is technically a RV site, we tent camped and had enough room for one 3 person and one 6 person tent. Picnic table was large - 96” and could be moved to wherever you wanted on the tent pad. The fire ring / camp grill was nice - elevated on concrete with fire bricks but the tent bad needed lots of work. It was mostly covered in dirt with just a little gravel in one corner which made everything get covered in dust. The bath houses were decent and not very crowded (most folks at this campground were in RVs). Even though this site didn’t back up to the lake, it was very private with a large dry creek b/w our site and the tent only sites on C loop. We’d stay here again for sure.
Jon M — Google review
Beautiful, newly renovated park., Lots of space between sites. Most sites are full shade except a few in loop B 48 and up are on an open hill near the playground. Clean facilities and well maintained utilities and services.
Kevin M — Google review
The group campsites and beach areas are awesome. Pretty clean, the water depth is good for younger kids, there's usually some shade near the tree line, amenities are clean and functional. No significant complaints come to mind.
Luke T — Google review
My husband and I stayed at B15, which is a nice spacious and shady site. There was ample room for our camper, truck, and bicycles. The campground is quiet and well maintained. There was a good ranger presence throughout our stay.
Toni M — Google review
We stayed in loop b. Beautiful campsites, lots of space between each one. Fire pit and picnic table at each site
