The noteworthy aspect of St. Nicholas's Church is its captivating 12th-century murals, which are understandably somewhat faded. The church also boasts exquisite stained-glass windows, adding to its charm. This small hilltop sanctuary has a peaceful ambiance that invites visitors to engage in prayer or contemplation, as it has been a place of worship since 1140. With regular office hours and Sunday services, this lovely Norman church offers a warm welcome to all who enter its doors.
Peaceful area to reflect in graveyard over the road.. Busy meandering road to cross to the Norman church. Be careful.
Sian W — Google review
What a Gem, unspoilt petit church, with a few medieval wall paintings.
CENTUR 1 — Google review
The most interesting feature of this church must be the 12th century wall paintings. They are understandably a bit faint. There are also some beautify stained-glass windows.

During a business trip to Ripley, an individual decided to attend the Sunday service at St. Mary's Church. Despite not being a member of the Church of England, they found the service enjoyable and were impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. They even received a brief tour of the church, which included learning about its historical organs. The church itself is located in a picturesque village with a tranquil nature reserve and pond nearby.
Beautiful village church, walk round the back and pass the grave yard to find a nature reserve and pond, lovely and peaceful.

I was in Ripley on business for a few days and decided to attend the 10 am Sunday service (worship for all). Although, I'm not a member of the Church of England, I really enjoyed the service. Everybody was welcoming and friendly. I even got a short church tour, including the history of the organs.

Need to answer some difficult questions about God? Then please go to this church as not only will you receive a very warm welcome, you will find answers to your questions. Plus you get to meet a lot of wonderful people and be part of a family. Why not come to the Welcome Cafe on a Monday morning at 10am and have a nice chat while having a good cuppa. :-D. Everyone is welcome.
Nikki T — Google review
Beautiful, welcoming, young, vibrant church, and the Pastor is based on the word of God, I liked it
Maria C — Google review
Thank you for the welcome I received here. Your hospitality through welcome lunch, then a belong, believe, become course were great channels through which to meet people and to slot in. I am grateful for your kind welcome and it has spurred me on in faith... encouraging me to get alongside other believers and behind others who have questions. Excited to become part of the church body here. Thank you. And if you are considering finding somewhere to belong... why not come along and see for yourself?
Laura — Google review
Absolutely amazing Multinational and Multicultural church where everyone is welcome and there is a perfect blend of worship and social integrity.
Gareth M — Google review
Lovely genuine welcome and a great mix of people. The service however, was trying too hard to “advertise” the people and church rather than Christ centred worship or teaching. Maybe one visit isn’t enough to write this however this is my first impression.
A B — Google review
Absolutely amazing. Church is very friendly and supportive. Teaching and ministry excellent. Working out, amongst the poor. Looking after families. Why not come and try.
Lorna M — Google review

Nestled in the picturesque Old Woking conservation area by the serene River Wey, St Peter's Church is a remarkable medieval gem that dates back to the early 12th century. This historic church, mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, showcases stunning architecture with its surviving Norman west and north walls. The tower was added during the 13th and 14th centuries, while further enhancements were made by the early 1400s.
Beautiful old church. I came to experience Woking Music band workshop. Lovely acoustics, great venue to learn how to play in a band. Or do some traditional bell ringing.
Ronnie M — Google review
Visited specifically to see the old Norman door. Dendrology has dated the oak timbers to be 270 years old when the door was constructed. That means the acorn of this tree germinated around 820AD!

We stopped by to use the tap for water collection for our camper and boat as this church was listed on the canal map. We didn't see anyone there on our visit and didn't get to say thank you for providing this much needed service. Stayed in the area for the Bank Holiday weekend. Went along to the sunday service at 10.30. Very friendly group of people of varying ages. Stayed for coffee in the hall afterwards, and was welcomed and chatted to by a few retired people and some younger people in 20s and 30s. The place was encouraging and welcoming. Nestled in the charming hamlet of Normandy, the story of Chapel begins with James Horne's arrival around 1819. At that time, locals had to travel to nearby villages like Ash and Pirbright for worship, as there was no dedicated place for their spiritual gatherings. However, Horne’s deep religious passion sparked a transformation in the community, leading to the establishment of churches and chapels that would serve as vital centers for faith and fellowship.

Churches & Cathedrals
St Mary the Virgin is a charming and historic church that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for its visitors. Recently, it hosted a heartfelt Christmas service organized by Lodge Brothers funeral directors, where candles were lit in memory of loved ones who have passed away. The church's traditional services are complemented by modern facilities, making it an ideal space for both joyous celebrations and solemn occasions like funerals.
Very good Church! All people are nice! I received positive emotions and balance of my mental health!

Was hear to listen to Mosaic Chamber Choir. Given the season, some great pieces performed and well sung. The choir was greatly encouraged by their conductor, Victoria Henshall. Overall a great performance in this church setting.

If you visit the world-famous gardens at RHS Wisley, spare a little time to visit this church in the hamlet of Wisley a short distance to the north. The church is unusual in that it has no known dedication. While it has undergone some work in Victorian times, it is essentially a simple, unspoiled, tiny Norman church. The exterior has been plastered to preserve the stonework. In the churchyard, between the porch and the gate, is a precariously-leaning gravestone. Here are buried a couple, the Choats. At the 1899 death of Mrs Choat they had 160 direct descendants! The interior of the church is plain but not without interest. The chancel arch is Norman and as simple an example as you will ever see: no fancy carving here in this tiny rural church. The east window has glass by Pearson & Sons, one of the better stained glass producers. There are painted Dedication Crosses on the walls and, high beside the Victorian pulpit, is a Jacobean hour-glass holder, now rather charmingly repurposed to hold a trailing plant. The pews are mainly Victorian and copied from a surviving 1630 pew in the south west corner: the date is carved on it. Finally look up at the Queen Post roof, an unusual feature, and the wooden structure supporting the shingled spire. A leaflet in the church will inform you of the surprising history of the church and parish including links with the Black Prince.
