The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, originally completed in 1852, is a restored church known for its stunning architecture and intricate details. Located within walking distance of the New York State Museum, it features carved sandstone portals, mesmerizing paintings, and beautiful stained glass windows. The interior showcases a chancel and apse that are truly captivating. Visitors can appreciate the traditional cathedral's 170-year-old stone masonry and experience a peaceful atmosphere inside.
A rare Gothic style cathedral here in the US. Almost life-size Stations of the Cross. Just magnificent!

Father David is a nice person. The mass was very moving and enjoyed hearing about the word. I hope peace comes quickly to everyone in the world. The church is beautiful inside. The peace and quiet is beautiful as well.

Visit the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception even for just the architecture. Colorful stained glass windows are present throughout.

A restful and rejuvenating stop on our way to Vermont. A beautiful Cathedral, and a very easy place to pray. There are some stained glass windows with scenes/images I am not used to which is terrific.

Beautiful place from inside and outside! It's free and you can take your time. When there's no session parking it's free and very central from other sightseens. I recommend to go to the museum next to the church first, because it closes at 5 and it's worth it!
Cristina R — Google review
Beautiful cathedral with friendly atmosphere that reminded me the churches I visited in Europe. Don’t skip!

Peaceful church in New York’s capital. No mass during the day. A must visit to see the stained glass windows and bathe in the peaceful presence.

Architectural Buildings
The New York State Education Department building, previously known as the New York State Museum, Library and Archives, is a must-see in Albany. Constructed between 1908 and 1912, it boasts grand neoclassical architecture reminiscent of Washington D.C.'s monuments. The front facade features the world's longest colonnade made of white marble. Free public tours are available on Saturdays to explore its stunning interior with a spectacular rotunda adorned with frescoes.
This is another gorgeous building that you would like to visit when in Albany. I didn't get a chance to go inside since it is a secured building, but public tours are available. This building has the longest colonnade that I have seen so far in the tri-state area. Outer view of the building is gorgeous. I hope to go for a public tour in the future.
Ashish S — Google review
I was visiting the New York State Capitol and saw this building, what magnificent architecture and complete building was not even coming to one frame, that huge it is. The building is known for its expansive colonnade. The Education Building of the State of New York was completed in 1912 and was the first major governmental building constructed exclusively for educational purposes. It houses offices of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and was formerly home to the New York State Museum and New York State Library The building is 140 feet wide (including the front steps), and 590 feet long. The rear wing is 185 feet by 112 feet. There are 36 hollow, fluted pillars made of Vermont marble that run along the front of the block-long building. Each pillar is 90 feet tall.
Sanjay G — Google review
The architecture is stunning - takes my breath away every time I see it. It's a secured building, so I have never been inside. I just learned there are free tours on Saturdays at 2pm. Reservations are required. I'm sure the inside is as beautiful and I now have to go back and get some of those photos, too.
Theresa J — Google review
The worst customer service! I’m waiting for my license since May! Today is September! They constantly drop calls and are very rude. They don't provide any information over the phone. Always saying same thing “ wait 6-8 weeks” people can’t work! And they just don’t even know for how long the process can take.
Jani U — Google review
Only commenting on the architecture of the building -- which is amazing. The sheer enormity of the exterior (all I saw) is stunning. Would love to return to see the interior. October 2021.

I have been waiting for over three months to receive my RN license after passing the NCLEX. Every time I call, I am told that they are waiting to finalize my school credentials. This makes no sense since I was already allowed to sit for the NCLEX. After passing the exam, I should have received my license within a few days. When I took the LPN NCLEX, I received my license promptly. This delay is unacceptable and frustrating. The lack of efficiency and clear communication from the New York Board is extremely disappointing.

First Lutheran Church in Albany is grateful for its community and the work it does. They recently had a special worship service to mark the beginning of a new academic year, honoring Sunday School teachers and students. Additionally, they installed and expressed gratitude for ten church council members while also welcoming five new members into their fold. The congregation demonstrated their generosity by donating to Lutheran Disaster Response of the ELCA for hurricane relief efforts. The day concluded with a delightful brunch shared amongst all attendees.
First Lutheran is the most beautiful church in downtown Albany

Depressingly empty but a very funny minister. Having such a huge building doesn't help. The people were not very warm or welcoming despite having a coffee hour. Neighborhood seems sketchy. Not far from my college. Small but sufficient parking lot. Lots of restaurants nearby (but closed on Sundays). Someone said that the church was historic but there was no marker or plaque indicating why.

Thankful for the people and the ministries of First Lutheran Church, Albany! Special worship service for the beginning of a new academic year today, celebrated Sunday School teachers and students, installed and gave thanks for our 10 church council members, and welcomed 5 new members. St. Peter's Church is a stunning French Gothic-style Episcopal church with a rich history dating back to 1717. The current building, constructed in 1859, features a tower, buttresses, and beautiful stained-glass windows. The church has been an important landmark for the Anglican community in the region. Visitors praise the historic architecture and the warm, friendly congregation.
We attended on Sunday morning and absolutely loved the sermon by a lay pastor. Coffee hour afterwards was open and delightful. Have a family connection from decades ago.

A gorgeous historic church that will take your breath away. The rector and associate priest are truly wonderful and caring people. The music is sublime. St. Peter's offers something a bit unique. In addition to regular Holy Communion, St. Peter's is one of the few Episcopal Churches in the area that does a traditional choral Morning Prayer service.
Matt S — Google review
I was in a very, very dark state last week and I had all intentions of self-destructing myself because of the emotional pain. I passed by St. Peter's Episcopal Church after getting off the bus and I usually don't feel called to enter churches because I'm not religious but rather spiritual. However, this beautiful church called out to me and I was propelled to go inside. I was amazed at the beautiful interior and intimate setting of the church and to my luck, the organ player was practicing and the beautiful, haunting music echoed saturated the church. I sat down on the last pew in the back and I immediately began to cry and and pray to God that I be kept safe from myself. I sat there for five minutes and in that solitary moment, I felt peace, comfort and hope. Thank you, St. Peter's Church for having your doors open and keeping me safe from harm.

In October 2021, I visited St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Albany, a beautiful church with impressive architecture and stunning stained glass. The interior was adorned with exquisite paintings and decorations, creating a spiritual atmosphere. Located downtown, it is conveniently accessible and offers a pleasant walk for those staying in the area. While parking may be challenging during certain events, the church has a wonderful pastor who oversees its operations. St.
My husband and I were married here in May by Deacon Walter. Even though my husband is Jewish, Deacon Walter could not have been more welcoming and offered to put us in touch with a rabbi so we could have an interfaith service. We opted with a fully Catholic ceremony, as I am much more religious, but just to have that level of acceptance and welcoming is rare and so very much needed in the Catholic Church. Highly recommend, and as you can see, it is a gorgeous church!

St. Mary’s Church at 10 Lodge St, Albany, is a historic Catholic parish dating back to 1797. The current Italian Romanesque Revival building, completed in 1870 with a 175-foot tower, showcases beautiful architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A W — Google review
This site of the present church was founded by Isaac Jogues, a prisoner of the Kanien’keha:ka, by creeping away from his captors at the Dutch barn which stood by the present church. St. Mary’s parish is the second oldest in New York State, being founded in 1796. St. Mary’s is preceded only by St Peter’s on Barclays Street in Manhattan which was founded in 1786.

Ash Wednesday mass was over. The father still blessed and gave me ashes 20 minutes after mass and told me what to read from the mass book for the day that was in the pew. Also I found a pocketbook left from someone who came to the mass earlier and he took it away to secure it. I witnessed the blessing 2 other people that came in while I was reading the mass. Thank you God and thank you to the church.

Quite stunning interior. Was there for a wedding, and my antenna for the spiritual signals has never worked. The wedding ceremony comported well with my memories from Catholic school.

Metropolitan Baptist Church offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes visitors feel right at home. During my visits, I was greeted by friendly members who welcomed me as if we were old friends. The services are engaging, often featuring guest ministers who share inspiring messages. On one occasion, I had the pleasure of hearing the choir perform beautifully, adding to the uplifting experience. Many attendees appreciate the concise nature of the service, making it accessible for everyone.
Recently visited Metropolitan Baptist Church. Members of the church approached me greeting and welcoming me like they know me for ever. I feel so lucky thata church member a good friend allowed me to tag along with her. God Bless you all and thanks

We've visited twice and enjoyed the service. Each time, there was a guest minister bringing the Word. We were greeted warmly by folks in the hall. I wouldn't call them greeters because they were standing at the front door or sanctuary door. The second visit, we actually heard the choir, and they were really nice. My spouse loves that the service is quick. Lol. Growing up, COGIC I try to be sensitive to research the church before we attend. Lord, help us :) The first service was maybe 1.5 hours and the second 2 hours.

This maybe a nice place but I was turned off. I called to get information about the classes/program. And I called and called no answer I emailed no answer. I finally did speak to a girl and I asked her about the payment options for payments. She told me go to the career center for help or I could make a down payment then make payments. But now she said go on the 2nd floor. I said okay and who do I speak too. She said I don't work there. Now what kind of mess is this. I never asked if she worked there at all. You want business not run them away. That's common sense you don't work there. No thank you. I'll go to another company. You have to watch what you say when it comes to business.... Thanks For The Response Back. But yes I called weighing out all my options. Not sure how I am/was paying so that is why I called so I would know all my options. But thanks

The Cathedral of All Saints, completed in 1906, is the first Episcopal Cathedral church in the United States built as such. It was designed as a High Gothic cathedral and stands at 320 feet long and 130 feet wide, making it one of the largest cathedrals in the country. Despite not achieving its original plans due to adjacent land purchases by other parties, it remains a treasure of the capital district.
Love the cathedral The boys and men choir is divine the services are intimate and personal I love it there.

A true treasure of the capital district. This is a beautiful place of worship, like something lifted out of Europe, and a wonderful place of Christian community. The Cathedral Men and Boys Choir is not to missed. You absolutely need to come and hear them perform on Sunday morning, Evensong, or one of their many concerts and events. The Cathedral has a history of great leadership and the current dean, Leander Harding, is no exception. The preaching and liturgy is top quality and the lectures and guest speakers are always exceptional. Do yourself a favor and visit this historic yet vibrant cathedral.

The First Church in Albany stands as a striking feature of the city’s skyline, characterized by its impressive twin bell towers. Although my visit coincided with its closure, I was hopeful for a glimpse inside and approached the office to inquire about exploring this historic gem. Known for its rich history and stunning stained glass windows, the church offers tours that showcase fascinating artifacts. The welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by a diverse congregation engaged in community events and activities, making it an inviting place for all visitors.
Delightful church with a ton of history. Organized in 1642, the church was built between 1797-1799. It's the oldest church in Upstate NY. It was great to wander through, sit thoughtfully in the pews to think about life.

Beautiful church right across the street from the hotel we stayed. To getting in you need to ring the bell at the door by the parking lot and someone will let you in. We'll that's what we did when the church was "close" while inside look around and you will find interesting objects and pieces..

P-EBT was given out 3 times so far. The first time i called them and spoke to someone, they let me know that they put the PEBT on my daughters father‘s card who does not see my daughter and does not live with my child. I asked the person on the phone if there was anyway they can reverse it they said no I also asked if there was anyway that I can get the PEBT that they accidentally gave my child’s father they said no. So I gave them all the information they needed to not do it again the following year and they gave it to him yet again. The first time was $450 the second time was $1020. I got in contact with a District Attorney where i live who spoke to the supervisor of this department and they said they were not going to make sure that the pebt goes to my daughter the next time they send them out. They lied and sent it to my child’s father again. There suggestion to me every time was to contact my child’s father and get the card from him. SMH it’s so unfair. They made a mistake and there is nothing they can do about it. On 2/12/23 i received a letter from them stating they realized there mistake and they were correcting it. They did. Thank you so much.

I faxed a form 3 times and finally had to send it through the we mail because they are incompetent They sent me the paper on friday and wanted it back monday.these people are sooo unorganized it makes this so stressful. OHHH you need to talk to someone on the phone and you live more 4 hrs aways so you try to call. Yeah forget it. Maybe you'll get a call back probably not. It's ridiculous!! Then they are rude. They should have -5 stars. What a joke. I have MS it doesn't go away it only gets worse. It's infuriating.

Poor service for Rent Relief, no one knows what going on. They ask you to re upload the same documents. You check the portal and the documents are already uploaded. They tell you to call back, when you do. It’s more of the same thing. We don’t know, we don’t have the information, call back next week! Get better customer service representatives.

Do not bother. I called their number for Social Security only to be hung up on by some lady.

Systemic racism is what the office should be called. They discriminate against the people they are supposed to help. I am disabled and have been homeless for the last three years. It seems as thought they have the manual on how to discriminate legally and get away with it. Disabled and homeless during a pandemic, great Job NYS keep up the good work of treating your most vulnerable citizens and keeping them out in the cold. I am no longer homeless, but will not be able to remain that way for long, because this office and local dss (Cortland County) overtly discriminate against the disabled and minorities.

Great family services and and a welcoming community. We come here for Christmas Eve mass whenever we are in town for the holidays. Everyone remembers us (my wife grew up here) and is excited to see us. Services are not overly formal and there is a lot for kids.

Unfortunately I have to say this is got to be the worst counseling service I've ever seen or been to, used it twice, don't know why I tried it again after the first time but it's terrible. They promise you help in a wide variety of services but after using the service for about 10 months which is ample time for anything nothing was accomplished. Good thing they were paid through Medicare, but still waste of tax payer money. They don't have the slightest Idea of what they are doing yet they tell you they do. It's so easy to catch them in lies. I don't know if it's just two or three of them or the entire agency but I don't wanna find out, having just 1 of them was enough. Do not recommend, if you need a counseling service of any kind you should look elsewhere this place is terrible....

I am a former Roman Catholic priest for 25 years I am now a priest of dual ministry of Old Catholic Church and American Baptist Church of CT. I had a crisis recently and asked the Lord God for grace to overcome this pain. After prayers, the Lord God told me to go to the New Hope Baptist Church on Sunday 2/23/25. The Lord God had a powerful message for me. The lead pastor Andrew Browning was preaching about I needed to hear --" Come as you are"! This was a powerful message directed to me personally. This was a powerful message indeed and I was blessed by God. Thank you Jesus for hearing my prayers Highly recommended for everyone. We are blessed by this awesome family oriented church

Members of your church are leaving pamphlets for your church as tips in restaurants, which is quite frankly revolting and not very Christian. Shameful behavior. The bulk of a servers livelihood comes from tips. So much for "love thy neighbor."
Mushu P — Google review
- The church seems to run more like a business than a hospital (Mark 2: 13-17) - There is a huge lack of genuine fellowship, love, and spiritual support for single men (Romans 12: 9-16) - Communion is not served/offered often (1 Cor. 11: 23-26) - The gifts/experience I possess in certain ministries and my interest in serving in those ministries were disregarded, and I was left with only opportunities to serve that were convenient for the leadership (1 Cor. 12) - The discipleship groups were focused on prayer, but not on the Word of God directly (2 Tim. 3:16-17) If you want to join a church that is biblically-based, this isn't the place.

I was at rock bottom during COVID when everything shut down. It was then I went looking for more. I visited many churches online, but found nothing compared to New Hope. Pastor Andrew has a way of making the sermons understandable and relevant to my life. Fast forward to this year. My nephew has an assignment for class to visit two different churches in town. After hearing me speak about my love for New Hope, he asked if I would go with him. Today was my first in-person visit. The people were warm and friendly, the sermon was moving, and both Pastor Andrew and Pastor Justin were welcoming. My nephew asked if we could continue attending. Thank you New Hope! We will see you again soon!

We love worshiping at New Hope. We have found a wonderful church family and have felt welcomed since day one. Our children love Awana and Sunday School and look forward to going to church on Wednesdays and Sundays. Pastor Andrew is so relatable and relevant with his messages. Christ is at the center of this church.

Love this church! Pastor Andrew has clear concise messages that are well prepared and designed to help you grow spiritually. The church people are warm and welcoming to ALL visitors! I am glad to have NHBC be our sending church as we labor on the mission field of Honduras. If you are looking for a church to visit, I highly recommend you stop by.

Pastor Browning guides us in our lives and faith through scripture and the importance of our relationship with God and each other. A modern church with a solid, historical Baptist approach of scripture, prayer, fellowship and our relationship with Him. I'm thankful to have found this church and encourage others to as well.

This is a young (congregation) church. Great pastor, presents a very good message and teaches from the Bible. Everyone there are very friendly and welcoming. We will continue to attend when we can't make it to our church.
