Shopping mall
When exploring the vibrant city of Shillong in Meghalaya, a trip to OB Shopping Mall is an absolute must for any shopping enthusiast. Nestled in the bustling Police Bazaar area, this towering mall serves as a haven for both food lovers and fashion aficionados alike. With its impressive array of outlets, visitors can indulge in everything from trendy clothing and winter wear at great prices to essential daily items and electronics.
A small shopping complex that houses a good number of stores. On the ground floor you find a book shop and a liquor shop. In the higher floors you have the Adidas showroom and Grove Eatery. In front of this mall is a parking for two wheelers which is mostly overcrowded at all times. The inside of the mall is clean but the entry is confusing due to many hawkers who sell their wares on the roadside
Professor B — Google review
Everything is available here, literally the most crowded shopping mall I've seen. So much crowd everyday. Although you can shop outside the mall because there are more options available outside. And the products are really cheap, I'm not sure about the quality. One of the most popular places in shillong. Go here if you need anything related to shopping!
Poovendhiran P — Google review
Building mostly have branded shops like Levi's, Adidas, Puma, UCB and other shops includes Gateau Bakery outlets, Smoky Falls Coffee shop, where one can get local coffee, Souvenir shops.

Craft store
The Khasi Emporium is a craft store located in Shillong that sells authentic Khasi clothing and accessories, as well as traditional handicraft items made from bamboo. You can bargain for the prices here, and the store also sells Chinese articles.
Handloom & handicraft outlet. Items of various tribes of north east India like Khasi, Naga,Mizo,Manipuri, available here.Hand madr bamboo & jute bags, home decor items, bamboo baskets, momento etc are available. Popular among tourists. Little pricy.
Bikash B — Google review
If there was an option to provide 0 star, I would have chosen that. The lady and the boy at the store are super rude. I just walked in and started to explore but they have no patience or respect towards customer. I liked a particular piece that was kept in the showcase and when I asked them to take it out they started making excuse and then in no time turned very spiteful. I checked them politely that you are here to sell stuff and you don’t need to be rude but the lady at the counter was having a pathetic attitude. She asked us to check another shop. In short, we bought a few items there in first 5-10 mins that were on display but beyond that it was embarrassing to be in such a shop. As a tourist, I would not suggest anyone to visit this shop if you are not local. There are alternatives in police bazar and also very close to this shop that have genuine interest to sell stuff and are not rude to customers. Plus point they don’t loot the customers and suggest what is speciality if you are looking for one.
Darshan K — Google review
This particular establishment Khasi emporium selling Khasi theme merchandise using famous khasi artist’s artwork, without his knowledge and prior permission, and the sad part is they have removed his name and claimed it as their product. Clearly violating copyright and illegally using artist work for profit. More power to artist. Very bad and rude
Akshay P — Google review
Out of the world ATTITUDE, Pathetic behaviour to a tourist. Even wen the shop was open n lights were on.... denied selling goods with a Stern comment "WONT SELL" we don't want to as we r closing. To this my wife with me said we can see wat we want to buy, u can just give us d same.... Shop owner Declined straight away I Won't, we have lots of customers....if we have decided we won't sell even if the shop is open. Govt of Guwahati, shillong is it wat a small store room size shop has that is Destroying tourism of North east? I m posting the live picture of the store wen it was opened. The khasi owner shamelessly said Post wherever u want. This all happened without any quarrel or any argument. Just pure Shop Ego Monopoly.
Deep C — Google review
They are using other artists artwork in their products without even asking for permission or giving credits to the artist. They should be sued.
Nangsan — Google review
Please save yourself some respect and avoid this shop. The worst shop ever!
Swapnil P — Google review
I have never seen such a worst shop than this. If there is something less than 'One Star', then I would have rated it with that. The owner/ staffs here are very arrogant and rude. They think that they are doing some mercy to us by selling their products. What is the meaning of running a shop, if your salesman does not know how to behave with the customers? All the tourists must ignore this shop. Then they will know the value of the peope visiting there.
Sayan D — Google review
Worst customer experience. The salesman was arrogant and misbehaving. He overpriced the items for us. we got the same items at much cheaper rate from meghalaya. Sadly i got the item from the shop too ehich i bought again in meghalaya at a cheaper price. He even refused us to take pictures or do video call at the shop.

Nestled in the vibrant Police Bazar of Shillong, Purbashree Emporium stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone seeking authentic Meghalaya handicrafts. This government initiative was designed to uplift local artisans and showcase their incredible skills through unique products that reflect the rich culture and heritage of the region. Visitors will find an array of beautifully crafted items, from traditional handloom sarees to exquisite jewelry and elegant cane furniture, all made by talented local craftsmen.
This place is awesome. You can find all the northeastern handicrafts and handlooms from the region. The staffs are very friendly and helpful especially Mrs Sabina . Thank you for your service. Will definitely be coming again...
Iblisjo — Google review
Store of handloom & handicraft items. Operated by north eastern handicrafts and handloom s development corporation ltd, a govt of India enterprise. Located in Jail road, shillong opposite to Meghalaya Transpirt Corpiration Shillong bus stand. Reasonable price is a big plus point as other handloom & handicrafts store are charging high price.
Bikash B — Google review
Edit: First review written on: 08/07/2018, 09:20 am A third class store. Exorbitant pricing of items. Naga shawls, bags, or Khasi lungis are available atleast 4X lower prices in Shillong. The small bags cost 100 in Bara Bazar which is just 5 min walk from here. This place asks 500 for those. Naga shawls are available at 500, but this place asks 1500. AVOID.
Arnab P — Google review
Being one of the only state handicraft emporium works both for and against this store. On the one hand you get a plethora of bamboo and textile crafts practiced in the state with impressive designs and a decent amount of patrons coming in, but the flip side is that there is no recent exploration in range or material here, that you see happening in other major craft clusters. Products are largely stagnant in form and function which I have already seen a few years ago. No craft products beside abmboo, cane and textile is on display which was a big disappointment especially when I know there are other exquisite crafts being practiced in the state is black pottery.
Karan G — Google review
Only a few items that carry bar coded stickers are sold at government approved rates (cheaper).

We were at MHHD recently! It’s a hidden gem and the craft is just beautiful, very intricate and made with a lot of finesse. Daphi was the one who helped us with our order and shipped it back home. She went out of her way to make sure that we received everything that we had ordered from the store.! Must visit if you like local craft.

Additionally, it offers a variety of popular travel, food, and lifestyle magazines featuring the latest editions.
Located at the centre of the city in police bazar. First choice for all enquiries about books.
Vaishakh J — Google review
WON'T GO EVEN IF THIS IS THE LAST SHOP OPEN IN THE WORLD...!! Totally non cooperative staff. I live about 25 km away from the location, when I enquired on telephone about the books available in particular category, i was told "You have to come here and see". Even though person whom I had sent there to click some photos of available books so that I can select one was not assisted. I then forwarded list of specific books as last resort, still no cooperation. Request was bluntly turned down. Pathetic approach.
Swapnil K — Google review
This two star rating is based on the customer service I received on the 22nd of June 2019. There were two saleswomen handling the entire store. Both these women seemed more interested in their on-going conversation, rather than the customers there. They lacked knowledge on the variety of books available. They were unenthusiastic about selling the desired books. There were two other customers next to me, who were equally unassisted by these saleswomen. To their employers, I say this, kindly train these women to be skilled, knowledgeable, patient and most importantly, PRESENT.
Evie S — Google review
Very poor customer cooperation, I waited along with my friends for so long shouting and calling that uncle in the store, he was busy talking to someone else on the other side. We literally left the book there and didn't buy it. I'm not a local from here so I had to keep my calm or else I would've ruined his day .

This vibrant market buzzes with energy and offers an eclectic mix of shops, eateries, and vendors showcasing the best of Khasi cuisine.
Shop anything you want... From veg to non-veg, fresh vegetables , chicken, pork, beef , fish...Clothes , slipper everything is here. The place is very clean and the weather is too pleasant to live happily. You will be mesmerized most of the time by the sweet smell of the bakery... People are very friendly....

Good for shopping vegs... and others eatable things. They are cheap and fresh as compared to other NE states. You can find meat here too. But don't go to the wine shop 😂😂
Rango_Msa — Google review
Two storied market. Vegetables on top and pork, mutton, chicken and fish on ground floor. Well lit and stocked up. No parking for four wheeler. Clean and hygienic place. Well behaved sellers.
Chandan H — Google review
This is a market under construction these days. The original market has been torn down and a huge three storeyed market is being built in its place. The plan is ambitious and will take some more time to finish. Currently the market runs from a makeshift location in the parking. Fresh vegetables, fruits, fish and meat are amply available in this market.
Professor B — Google review
Dirty.. like all other market. U will find everything u want from chicken to vegies.. parking lot is available.. all sort of thing r available.. next to Sbi laitumkhrah
Shivaraj B — Google review
One of the Expensive market for vegetables groceries I find...as this place boast of availability of paid parking lot & the many restaurants & winestores around...
Mayon R — Google review
RECOMMENDATION: Do NOT go if you wanna buy things in bulk. For a quick veggies shopping, you can go. The place is good for shopping local veggies, but the prices are sometimes so insanely high. It's not a clean market, the smell from the fish section is so horrible. You can find all local veggies, imported veggies but before buying from here, try to find your veggies from the roadside street vendor. Their prices are reasonable.
Jackson T — Google review
The Only parking area which is full every time, no parking allowed on the road, so keep moving in circles if parking is full. Though market is good for veggies; a grocery supermarket, a bakery, gift shop, other shopping stores, restaurants are in close vicinity, getting out to go there due to parking is a problem. Traffic moves slow too. Like the review if it has helped u.... Thank you

We have been buying their products since many many years. Their shawls and mufflers are of great quality and our whole family swears by it. Their products are ideal for personal use and to gift to family and friends and has great value for money. Prices are reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the heart of Police Bazaar, Glory's Plaza, affectionately known as G.P., is a vibrant shopping destination that captures the essence of Shillong’s youthful spirit. This bustling multi-storey complex is a treasure trove for fashion enthusiasts, offering an eclectic mix of Tibetan jewelry, punk rock apparel, and chic accessories that cater to diverse tastes. The atmosphere buzzes with energy throughout the day as shoppers explore its myriad offerings.
It has a lot of shops from clothes to cigarettes. I saw one shop with gaming cassettes and one shop is selling cigars and tobacco pipes. There are a lot of clothes shops for both boys and girls. Many mobile shops are also available. At the top there is a Tibet kitchen, one should definitely visit the restaurant, I already tried soup chows and thenthuk. So overall, I am very happy.
Ijaz A — Google review
There are a lot of shops here and you can bargain a lot here. You will find a wide variety of products here but most of the shops are clothes and there are a few Shops for mobile phones and accessories.
Ankur M — Google review
Small and congested shopping plaza. It’s best if you visit in the morning around 10:30am as that’s the time they’re just opening their stores and people are not crowding the place. The clothes and shoes here are good. Good quality copies of branded shoes like Nike, Adidas, New Balance and so on are easily available here. You’ll need to bargain but you will definitely get apparel that is worth the money.
Zephaniah S — Google review
You will get everything you need in this shopping mall, mostly imported clothing, shoes and accessories. Their collections are really good but the one thing that I don't like much is you will get the same choice of collections in all the shops. The shop keepers are all good in dealing with customers.
Lanur I — Google review
A good place to get fashionable garments at reasonable rates. Most of the stuff are copies of branded items but they are of good quality though. But some shopkeepers ask for so much money for an ordinary product also, so you have to know how to bargain with most of these shopkeepers, otherwise, you'll just end up paying more than what it's actually cost. You have to explore the whole building to get what you want. It's a bit stuffy and congested, nonetheless, you'll get good items if you know how to search. so all the best 😁
Marlon — Google review
One of the oldest place but if you compare the price it's better you buy from H&M and other online platform. The service is so bad only few people are good and will be nice to you help you to choose the rest are full of arrogant sellers who will try to sell you the old items in high price. Few are welcoming but most of the sellers will be busy using their phone with weird look on their face making you feel uncomfortable and when you ask the price you feel like running away. Conclusion: The items which you get here there's no big difference in price you can buy it online from H&M, Urbanic and there are many Instagram stores with best service. Rating it 1 for the arrogant behavior.
Universe R — Google review
Really appreciate that they cleaned and tiled the centre bottom of the staircase. Clothes are overpriced but regular customers know that majority of your shopping exerience here is the bargaining. It also house one of my favorite restaurants in Shillong - the Tibet Kitchen.

Local market of shillong. The full market area is filled with shops, be it cloth materials, grocery, stationery, food items . We saw many fish stalls even at 6.30 pm in the evening. Many momo stalls were present there at the upper part of the road. Momo costs Rs 30 per plate containing 5 pieces momo. One can find many chicken shops. Fast food shops are also available here. A good spent in an evening walk.

good place to do quick shopping but the only letdown is the location has limited car parking facilities. Editing my review in November 2020. New parking spaces came up with the opening of the newly constructed Polo Market building.

Clothes market
Nestled in the vibrant city of Shillong, Bhutia Market is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in local culture and shop for unique items. This bustling market is primarily run by shopkeepers of Tibetan descent, known as Bhutias, who have roots tracing back to Bhutan. The market truly shines during the winter months when it offers an impressive selection of high-quality woollen garments such as sweaters, shawls, jackets, stoles, and children's winter wear.
Gorkha Durga Mandir... The first Durga Puja was held here in the year 1872CE, but the location was near the present day Cantonment School. I 1974 CE, The British Government set up a Province of Assam from the erstwhile British Bengal Presidency and thus Shillong became the capital of British Province of Assam, making it the oldest capital city of the NER... Other NER States were not even formed.

A bit congested place. We can bargain price. It's always good to visit many of the shops before deciding to buy.
Antony J — Google review
Very good place. Bargain at half the price they spoke. Huge shoes, jackets and pants collection. I bought 2 cargo pants at 1200 where they quoted 2700. If you've have good bargaining skills this place is for you. Shoes aren't that good quality but looks are stylish.

Kind of dirty n a busy place
Ro D — Google review
Best place to buy shoes and other clothing items at a very low and reasonable prices. Lower part of the building complex doesn't have proper ventilation so it is quite hot, stuffy and smelly if there are too many people inside the complex.

Nice place indeed.

If you spell out travelling as a lesson in history and anthropology, then the DBCIC in Meghalaya is the one place you shouldn't miss for the world. The Museum, although privately run, is in an excellent condition and proves to be a comprehensive source on the history and life in the north east. The library housed in the museum is a boon for those looking to research, or even brush up their knowledge of the state and its 6 sisters. And as is the aesthetic blessing that every north eastern destination has, the DBCIC does not dissapoint in that department either with the skywalk (not meant for those with vertigo or for the faint hearted), which offers a magnificent view of Shillong.

Nice place, every moment here is lot of gathering... Of traffic and the customer, and tourists
Baharul M — Google review
Nice 4 way road point. One road connects to police point, another towards dhankheti bus stop, 3rd one towards PB, last one toward European block. This place is full of convent schools, colleges etc e.g saint marys, don bosco school, st. Anthony etc. Well maintained stop. Nice scenic view.
