Restaurant
Beale's Park Fish Restaurant is a must-visit when you're in Porthcawl, especially if you're craving the quintessential British dish of fish and chips. Renowned for serving some of the best fish and chips around, this eatery offers an impressive menu that won't break the bank. While it can get busy on weekends, with queues forming outside, the staff efficiently manage to keep things moving smoothly. The friendly customer service adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making your dining experience even more enjoyable.
Beales is a Porthcawl institution. Fish & Chips don't come much finer than this. A side of mushy peas just helps complete the exquisite meal. You can get a bag of fish & chips in many other local places if you want the eating while walking experience, including here... but treat yourself and use the restaurant for a meal that will stay in the memory.

Fantastic fresh fish and chips. Boiling hot and plentiful. My wife had goujons but failed to eat all of them as they were massive! Highly recommended whilst in Porthcawl
Simon H — Google review
Excellent fish and chips. The fish is fresh, well cooked and has a light, crispy batter. Perfectly cooked home made chips. Delicious Irish curry and mushy peas. Service is excellent by welcoming and friendly staff. You can eat in or take away. Easily the best fish and chips in Porthcawl
Kevin F — Google review
Really FANTASTIC fish and chips here I don't ever remember enjoying fish and chips so much, definitely up there with the best ever..Would 100% recommend a visit to Beales when you come to Porthcawl. Little tip, try to get a table inside the restaurant as opposed to near the front door as the door doesn't shut properly and it's not so pleasant if it's cold outside. The staff kindly moved us to a warmer table which we were very grateful for. Very, very tasty fish and the most perfect batter ever. Can't wait to eat there again!
Shortie R — Google review
Very nice comfortable fish and chips restaurant. It isn't on the sea front, but only a short drive away. We managed to park outside, although spaces are limited. The place was reasonably clean, and the decor was fine. The toilet was just about okay for Mum with limited mobility using a rollator. I think a lot of people would give this place full stars as there was nothing bad about it. I have a bit of a 'thing' about places that don't change the mop water, so I guess I'm picky! The food looked very good and whilst we have had better, we enjoyed it. We would go back again.
Samantha S — Google review
Lovely food and excellent service. The staff accommodated 6 of us on a walk in. They were polite and helpful. Excellent Chicken Curry and Chips, but I do feel there wasn't enough chicken in the Curry.
Julie B — Google review
Only places for Fish and Chips in Porthcawl!! Food was amazing, portion sizes were large. Kids portion could of done an adult. 3 dishes, 3 empty plates, 3 happy customers.
Adam O — Google review
The service was really good and the staff listened to our requests. The food was really yummy. I liked that the coke came in a can. I liked the door as it can open and is not too hard to use. I liked the plates and all the food I ate. Written by LH and NH (7 and 4)

Fish and chips takeaway
Finnegans Fish & Chip Restaurant and Takeaway is a beloved local spot known for its top-quality fish and unlimited chips. The menu offers a wide variety, including options for kids, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Located near the Porthcawl promenade, it's popular among locals and visitors alike. Customers praise the cleanliness of the restaurant as well as the delicious food, with some mentioning that they would be regulars if they lived closer.
Try the fruity curry sauce! Coorrr, lovely! Nice atmosphere, clean environment. Really nice chips and great fish. Eat in or eat out. Seconds from the sea. Recommended.
Paul — Google review
Probably of the best cod and chips I've ever had (on a par with one I experienced in Iceland). The batter was so light and crisp whilst the fish was so fresh. Worth the 90mins drive to experience. Definitely worth a drop in for lunch and fish and chips by the sea.
Dan B — Google review
10 out of 10 . A little more than usually would pay for a chippy . However quality was A1 .. with a great attitude. Not majorly busy. Good portions and offer of xtra chips if wanted . I had the xtra large haddock but would have been OK having regular cod as size was good . Will return
Marc W — Google review
Saw this place and after researching it on my phone decided to give it a try. As shown below we ordered two regular cod and chips and one extra large cod and chips. The large one came with two pieces of cod rather than one big one which turned out to be ok as two people were sharing it anyway. Quality is really good and by current standards this is the best fish and chips I’ve had in quite some time. Chips were soft, quality potato was used and the fish batter was tasty. It’s not cheap but then I’ve wasted money on sub par fish and chips so many times that it probably adds up to hundreds. Would have given it full 5 stars but guy behind the counter completely ignored my request for Tomato ketchup and was very pushy about adding tartare sauces to my order. Each small serving you see below is £1 each. However it’s made in house and is lovely. Final verdict: this place deserves 3 cheers for keeping the dying institution of fish and chips alive.
Nice G — Google review
We had absolutely the best fish and chips here. My dad is quite a picky eater and he said "this is excellent fish". Any place that gets my dad happy gets a big thumbs up in my book. The staff were lovely too.
Tasneem S — Google review
Oh wow the best fish chips & mushy peas ever… we had take out due the having our dog in the van. The fish was so fresh and the peas divine. The Staff were very friendly and they cook you food to order so great
Rubix G — Google review
Always had really friendly staff excellent service. Always call in when I'm in Porthcawl. I had chicken curry, rice and chips today. Mam had the mini cod option. Stunning food and a lovely welcome from the staff fetching my dog in. First question was do you want water for the dog. Thanks to all staff. Gorgeous food as usual 😋
Paula H — Google review
Beautiful plaice and cod in crispy batter, perfect small portion of chips just right and homemade tartare sauce. Delicious. Washed down with award winning Welsh cider. It would have been nice to have some bright summer tunes on for a gloriously sunny day.

The food we had was perfect 🥰 Staff were spot on with service & knowledge. It started to get busier when we were leaving. My only criticism is that the steak is expensive compared to other restaurants in the area
Paul N — Google review
We booked in Advance its open 6.00pm promptly just take note the menu on the outside of the property it’s not up to date some of the items you unable to have was told last night it is 5 years outdated! Nice friendly staff nice starters I had king prawn my partner had pate both had sirloin stake I wanted mine medium & my partner well done & we emphasised that when it came out it had blood in its & for her it was off putting they quickly took it back but my fear that all the chips & the vegetables would gets cold but to fair play fresh chips & its was cooked correctly second time lens was nice
Thomas J — Google review
Had an amazing Sunday lunch at Isabella's today. The food was excellent,as were all the staff. A gentleman at the door assisted my 96 year old gran in with her walker and couldn't be anymore accommodating. Would highly recommend & will definitely be returning.
Philippa C — Google review
Since the restaurant has changed hands the menu has changed! I ordered king prawns which is £24 for 4 prawns with a garlic sauce 🤔 over cooked as well as they were rubbery! very expensive the chips were extremely dry and looked like they were old had been reheated in microwave not very appetising and the veg was half a small bowl for 2 people! Like pretty much a couple of green beans, peas and 2 pieces of leaks of all things! My husband had chicken chasseur with mash! Extra small chicken with enough mash for 4 people! What they call pecan tart is a laugh, the tart was about 4mm in height barely any filling, no pecans in the filling just 1 pecan on top and they charge £6 for that. They used to have a special menu 2 courses now it's only on Tues to thursday! Nothing advised when we booked so definitely no longer worth the money! We will not be returning there unfortunately! FYI we always had 2 course menu at every sitting we had no matter what day except sundays! Never ever had a bad meal except that night. If that is your double cooked chips then God help us all! We are normally a big group that books but it will now be elsewhere!

We chose from the set menu which was incredible value. Quality of the food was amazing and couldn’t fault the service. Also ordered the bruschetta ciabatta which was delicious. Would highly recommend
Jack B — Google review
What an amazing little place Isabella’s is. First time for my wife and I to visit this evening and we weren’t disappointed. We opted for the Bruschetta and Mediterranean Salad to start, followed by Sea Bass with Lemon and Garlic and Red Snapper with Chilli and Mango. All dishes were fantastic, freshly cooked, tasty and very generous portions. The Red Snapper in particular was exceptional. The staff were friendly and Isabella’s has a quiet, intimate atmosphere that was very pleasant. Highly recommend and already planning to return in the near future.

We chose Isabella's for our sons 18th birthday meal for 26 people. We are so glad that we did! The staff and food were second to none. We were welcomed warmly and the service was superb and well organised. The food was delicious and served promptly condsidering we were such a big group. We can't thank Lisa and the staff enough for today. Absolutely fabulous day, thank you.

Absolute gem of a find. Searched for somewhere special to celebrate our wedding anniversary whilst on holiday. Impressed with reviews and they weren't wrong. Steaks were amazing, cooked to perfection, generous portions for very reasonable price. Good menu choices save for no cheese and onion pie. Desserts were mouth watering too. Prompt, friendly service, relaxing atmosphere. You won't be disappointed.
Sharon W — Google review
The food is absolutely lovely and plentiful. I’ve never been lucky to park near and always walked due to the popularity of Porthcawl’s visitors. Part of the Inn is dog friendly. Location is excellent and some windows have great views looking towards the beach. There are outside seats when weather is warm. We have been here twice this week at 12.30pm and never failed to get a table for four or six of us! Staff have all been very helpful and polite. Very good prices compared to other places.
MikeFromNeath — Google review
We started off well with the mussels, then went for the steak and the burger. The fries were so uncooked so we had to ask for another portion. Which was done with no problem at all. The waiting staff was very attentive. The second batch was also uncooked or not well enough to be enjoyable. We just left the fries....a bit of a shame.as.we had a bid ride the following day....
Bertrand L — Google review
Came here last Thursday (05/06/25) never been before but will definitely come again. Wasn't sure if I needed to make a reservation but I did anyway on the Tuesday. Lady on the phone was very friendly so that was a good start. Turned up on the Thursday to be welcomed by a lovely, friendly woman (think her name is Jo but not sure) who showed us to our table. We had our drinks ordered and delivered and food ordered within 2-3 mins and had the food delivered in less than 10mins. The food portion sizes were massive and delicious, the photos don't do the portion sizes justice. From that original phone call all the way through to paying, everything was brilliant. Will 100% be back, might even make the 30 min drive on my birthday just for a meal.

Lovely vegan fish & chips (using banana blossom) and for a reasonable price too. They have a few other vegan options on their menu too. Definitely recommend!
Abbie W — Google review
The staff were absolutely lovely and made a point of asking if any of us had any allergies. The staff checked to make sure our meals were good and if we were happy with the food plus offered containers for if we wanted to take any food with us. I went with my partner and our 2 children. The food was outstanding and the service was of very high standards. We will definitely be returning 10/10.

Looked this place up Google while staying in the local area on holiday, what a find it was. Really good experience here, staff super friendly, food tasted really good at a reasonable price! Will use again when in area for sure!
Jack T — Google review
So was recommended this spot by a few locals and our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint. Our meal was lovely and the staff were great was well worth every penny spent. One thing tho is we booked on the Monday for a Thursday dinner and due to it seemingly being the number one spot in town I’d highly recommend making a reservation.
Christopher E — Google review
This pub is a short walk for us from where we live . They have the best range of 00 alcoholic drinks including some lovely cocktails and soft drinks. We like it as on a Sunday they don't just serve a roast, as many places do and serve all day . My partner and I are not early eaters , always a warm welcome from staff and pub itself is always lovely and warm too , especially after a long walk in the cold winter sun ☀️ we have taken close friends there over Christmas and always have great offers, especially 30 percent off mains , but regardless of offers , find it good value for money

Brilliant Sunday lunch, one of the nicest I’ve had. Staff are super friendly, informed and polite - service and good great - really recommend.

Absolute top quality Sunday Dinner served here. The staff were AMAZING and very happy to help. The chef was friendly too! We only had one course… beef and turkey. I had the turkey. It had lots of flavour and plenty of it. The yorkshires were massive! And I can’t lie, I’ve never tasted gravy like it before. Absolute 10/10. Would go back everytime, extra bonus, only ten minutes from treco bay

Absolutely love this pub! Always a warm, friendly atmosphere and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The Seagull is honestly one of my favourite pubs in Porthcawl. Always a good vibe, staff are super friendly, and the drinks are spot on. Food’s proper tasty and there’s usually something fun going on like quiz nights or live music. Feels like a place where everyone’s welcome — you can pop in for a quick pint or stay all night. Love it here!
Autumn K — Google review
Popped in for a drink and some lunch on a Monday afternoon and left wondering how the bar staff here even keep their jobs. The service was downright miserable, slow, uninterested, and dripping with attitude. Not a single smile, not a hint of basic manners, just the feeling that me being there was a massive inconvenience to them. Ordering a simple meal turned into an ordeal. They seemed more interested in chatting behind the bar than actually serving customers. When they finally did bring my food, it was done with all the charm of someone slamming a parcel on your doorstep. If you’re looking for somewhere welcoming on a Monday afternoon, avoid this place unless, of course, you enjoy being treated like an annoyance instead of a paying customer.
Boo — Google review
We didn’t have a great experience at Seagull. The food was disappointing - several items seemed to have been microwaved, and one meal arrived cold in the middle, so we had to ask for it to be reheated. There was also an issue with the ordering system, but staff only told us after one of the meals had already come out, which was frustrating, so there were large waits between dishes coming out. One of our group ended up getting a refund for their dessert, as it just wasn’t edible. One staff member was fine, but one other in particular came across as quite rude, which didn’t help the overall impression. We also noticed they are currently offering free pints in exchange for positive reviews (mentioned on their Facebook), which raises questions about how reliable some of the online feedback might be. On a more positive note, the drinks were fine, and the quiz night was enjoyable — the quizmaster was great and brought a fun energy to the evening. The quiz was the best part of our visit.

Fast food restaurant
Mansel's Chippy in Porthcawl is considered the top fish and chips restaurant in the area. It has gained a reputation for its excellent food, with customers praising the fresh and delicious meals on offer. The menu at Mansel's Chippy offers a wide variety of options, ensuring there is something to suit everyone's taste. The service is quick and efficient, with two serving stations available to ensure minimal waiting time. Customers also have the option to dine outdoors if they prefer.
We use Mansel’s Chippy as they offer Gluten Free food. Our favourite is the Fish & Chips. Everything is cooked fresh as you place your order. There are a couple of tables and chairs outside if you choose to stay. We love this Chippy! The only bad thing is the Free complimentary coffee while you wait. We hate the taste of the coffee, so placed it in the bins provided. The Chippy is in a fabulous location so you can take the food away and sit in a multiple of places to suit yourself. The Beach is two minutes walk away.
MikeFromNeath — Google review
Mansel's Chippy in Porthcawl is a real gem for anyone craving classic fish and chips by the seaside. I was absolutely blown away by the food—the fish was fantastic, with a perfect, crispy batter, and the chips were lovely and perfectly cooked. And let's not forget the curry sauce... it was truly out of this world! I've been to a lot of chippies, and this one has some of the best curry sauce I've ever tasted. I loved my experience here, but if I had one minor criticism, it would be about the seating. The tables and chairs could definitely be better. They're a bit basic and could be more comfortable to make the overall dining experience even better. But honestly, with food this good, a little discomfort is a small price to pay. I'd highly recommend Mansel's to anyone in the area!
David W — Google review
We came today after we found they sold gluten free fish and chips! To say we were impressed would be an understatement! All food cooked freshly, GF food prepared and cooked separately! Perfect portions, reasonably priced, friendly service and popular by many - all signs of an excellent chippy! Very happy! 😊
Jade A — Google review
Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. We came during a slow time so it was all made to order. I got the gluten free and my sister and her husband got the non-gluten free. All of it was exactly how fish and chips should be. The staff clearly love what they do and take pride in it. And being able to walk a few steps and eat it looking out over the sea is the cherry on top.
Adell B — Google review
Food quality was lovely, however portion size for the price was disappointing. Small chips and a jumbo sausage, looks more like a child size meal than an adult size. Good range for dietary requirements ie Gluten Free.
Lateisha K — Google review
Very tasty and good portion. Very well served with tartar sauce. Environment friendly food serving.
Bipin V — Google review
Always have lovely, fresh cooked food from here. A big range on offer and very quick service (has two serving stations). There is outdoor seating available for customers. Delicious and relatively good prices. If you visit Porthcawl and fancy take away chippy, grab it from here! The best in the area! Also, their Irish curry sauce is lush!
Stacey F — Google review
There's something about good fish and chips on the sea side. By far the best fish and chips we've had since we moved to Wales last year. You can see why they've won so many awards. They have a few tables with chairs outside but they fill up quickly. Testament to their popularity.

The Jolly Sailor is a historic pub located in Porthcawl, United Kingdom. It is known for its nautical ambiance and rich history, being the oldest pub in Porthcawl. The establishment features two bars with a maritime theme and offers plenty of information about its past. Visitors can enjoy British grill and gastropub cuisine while taking in the cozy atmosphere. Stopped in for lunch on a very sunny October Thursday with the dog. Lovely old pub with a heavy nautical theme. Friendly staff and excellent food. My wife had the Welsh brisket and I had the Dragon curry. Both meals were plentiful and delicious. Decent enough beer selection as well. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

We stopped in this busy pub to try to have a meal ands drinks, it is a lovely little pub with plenty of outdoor seating as well as the wall around the village green, we had the last table inside and the service and food were first class even though the lovely lady serving was rushed off her feet, I think this pub was well worth a visit and would highly recommend it to others.

Lovely old pub on the green, stayed at nearby Trecco Bay and visited the pub a couple of evenings with the dog on an evening walk. Didn't eat but the food I did see looked amazing. Very friendly and dog friendly inside too.

Visited today and hoped to be able to get food. We found a table in the beer garden and ordered drinks. When we enquired about food we were told dogs were not allowed inside and they did not serve food outside. Finished our drinks and left. Staff not very friendly. Overall not a great experience.

3 of the largest lamb chops ever for my main. Food was absolutely delicious. To start I had the Fish goujons. The batter was light, fish soft and flaky and for pudding the waffle was to die for. Thoroughly recommend.

We arrived with our dog and without a table reservation on a Saturday evening and they happily fitted us in. Everyone (staff and locals) all very friendly. We ordered peppercorn chicken and, although very edibles, i thought it tasted more like a curry sauce than a peppercorn sauce

i love the oak ❤️ fantastic experience, wonderful atmosphere and an overall phenomenal swig. cracking holiday destination for the family, good day out for the kids and parents as they have cracking beers on tap and wonderful locals. enjoyed my stay at the oak very much and i would return next time for a nice week away at such a picturesque place, rather than just the weekend stay we had with the little ones this time. overall great experience, would come again ❤️❤️❤️

Great menu with loads of choice. Very cheap and the food was excellent, there are home cooked options on the menu too. I had the homemade Corned Beef pie with boiled potatoes and gravy, which was delicious. My mate had the curry half and half, which was also delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pub had a good local feel to it. Have eaten here once before and will definitely return again.

Came in for an evening meal. Service was good and even though hadn't booked were given a table quickly. Food options were very good as were drinks and when the food arrived it was amazing. Mega Mixed Grill was very good value especially on grill Tuesday with money off. Would recommend for an evening meal.

Fish & chips restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Franco's Fish Shop Limited offers reasonably priced meals, including a large portion of COD and chips, a fish cake with chips, and a side of curry sauce. They also provide two 500ml bottles of Diet Coke at an affordable rate. The generous serving sizes left customers feeling satisfied, and the food itself was delectable. The thick-cut golden-brown chips had a delightful fluffy interior, while the COD was exceptionally tasty. The establishment has been recently renovated under new management.
We ate in. F&Cs with curry sauce. The curry sauce was quite strong, which I liked, but my wife didn't. The fish was proper tasty with light fluffy batter. The chips were perfect. All served piping hot. Well worth the walk from Trecco Bay holiday park.

My new favourite Chippy in Porthcawl. I've been threatening to go for years, and I wasn't let down. Food was amazing, good value and amazing, I think I've mentioned that already. The staff were brilliant too. I'll be going back, definitely. 😋👍🏻

Popped in and took a table with my Partner for a spot of lunch. The 'Special' was Haddock & Chips and very reasonably priced. The fish was just gorgeous, flaky and lightly battered. Portion size was very generous, as was the amount of mushy peas that I ordered as an addition. Accompanied with a very tasty Americano coffee, I can fully recommend this Chippy as well worth a visit.

Rest Bay Cafe is a lovely spot to recharge. The view is amazing. Staff, despite being g very busy, we're pleasent and friendly. The beach is one of the nicest we have visited in south wales.

Here's a revised version of your review for clarity and flow: --- Our friend suggested we have lunch here, so we drove from Margam Park. The view was stunning, although it was quite windy when we arrived. It was busy when we arrived, but we found a table that hadn’t been cleaned yet. We had to wait for it to be cleaned. I noticed that when the staff cleaned the table next to us, they didn’t get to ours until after we ordered from the counter and informed them. I saw the same issue at another table as well. There was a table next to us where the grandmother and mother received their food while their kid was still waiting for her meal. The same thing happened at our table; my husband and our friend received their meals, but I had to wait a few minutes. Meals should be served at the same time, or at least prioritize kids first. The service definitely needs improvement. The food was okay. The noodles I ordered tasted similar to those from supermarket, with just some salmon added.
Ian D — Google review
Was here over Half-term school holiday(Saturday). There was a hour wait for food and no tables available upstairs. Staff tried their hardest to smile but I knew it was an act. One waitress was not very sociable at all. I don’t want to return here again on a busy school holiday knowing the staff can’t cope. On a quiet day, I will return when in the area. There is a popular place for Surfers. Large car-park (£1 all-day) but again, fills quickly! A normal weekday is best for visiting!

Can’t fault this place - great views, lovely staff and excellent menu. The manager has some great banter and can’t do enough for you. Highly recommend - we travel 30 miles to go there .
Jason P — Google review
As others have said service a bit rude for some reason and food arrived at really different times for each person. Humus and flatbread (for £7!) was just poor quality humus and pitta bread. If they want to charge those prices they have to use much better quality ingredients. Burger was cooked badly and again poor for the price. Nachos and chips however were good, and nice spot for drinks. Overall better service and much better quality ingredients for me to eat here again. I'll still come for a drink after a swim though.
Dan W — Google review
Had a lovely lunch today. Chicken and bacon panini and Cappuccino were excellent. They told us there might be a 30 minute wait for food when we ordered which was fine. All the staff looked to be chilled and happy. The location was excellent - great view of the beach and the surf. Food was very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend it.
Andy W — Google review
Lovely location, beautiful view of the sea, staff friendly and reasonable prices. We went on a particularly hot day and it was nice to stop for a drink and some food in the restaurant which was nice and cool with the aircon. The service was prompt considering how busy it was - i think we waited 10 or 15 minutes for food to arrive. Overall very happy and would highly recommend.

The Rock Inn in Porthcawl is a popular spot that showcases the best of the town. The restaurant tends to get busy quickly, so it's advisable to make reservations in advance. The building has a rich history dating back around 100 years and was once used as a hospice during World War I. Its location near Porthcawl Promenade makes it convenient for visitors. Thoroughly enjoyed Sunday dinner here today!! Had to try after calling a few times before and having a selection of starters as small picks/tapas which each time were excellent experiences! And I have to say, today did not, at all, disappoint! Utterly delicious! I had lamb, and my partner had beef. He was asked does he like his pink or well done (which I thought was fab, as often in places you are told, not given choice.. and knowing they do both means I can also now bring my Dad sometime, as he prefers his beef well done on a dinner) The meats were succulent, the mixed seasonal veg were perfectly cooked, and the homemade Yorkshire pudding , and the roasties were to die for. The pea puree, roasted parsnips, and carrot added that extra touch of deliciousness, along with the gravy which was mouthwateringly good! The waitresses are also super attentive, providing a really great experience and service! Will definitely be back!!

We stopped at the Rock inn Bar & Grill on a sunny late Saturday afternoon / evening to try the wood fire oven menu in the rear garden. The atmosphere was amazing and I enjoyed a bottle of Malbec in a lovely sun trap alongside some close friends. The pizza was PHENOMENAL, likely the best I’ve ever had. As the wood fire oven is on full display, you can sit and watch Rob ( The landlord and chef ) prepare and cook each order by hand. Our pizzas arrived in good time and the orders soon began to stack up as other customers looked on and wanted similar. Rob remained calm and fully professional in this busy period to ensure quality of product and to maintain a noticeable high standard. £12 Margherita and £14 pepperoni - incredibly reasonable for the service and experience. Buy one get one free also advertised during the week. The menu included a variety of different pizzas as well as burgers and fish plates. I can’t wait to return again!

The Rock Inn really shows off the best Porthcawl has to offer. Having arrived early before the restaurant opened a queue had already started to form with egar eyes and empty bellies on full display! when the doors finally opened we were off! As we were entering we saw a few groups being turned away as it was fully booked, so as a warning book ahead or risk missing out on a solid Sunday dinner experience! we were greeted by the staff as we entered and promptly taken to our seats the staff were friendly and attentive. Thanks guys! We were offered menus and having been given just the right amount of time to examine it along came a happy, friendly face ready to take our orders. I went for the Crab as a stater and the Lamb as the main course and boy was I in for an experience. The starters came, a golden crispy coating covering a centre of soft delicate crab! the perfect amount you expect from a starter enough to make your mouth water as you sit and wait for the mains. For the main we had the lamb, it came juciey, succulent with a bit of a bite which I love! not chewy but enough texture to know your eating meat. Accompanying the lamb was a large crispy and fluffy yorkie of course home made followed by golden roast potatoes and a roast carrot and parsnip both full flavour! The gravy was something new, a very pale gravy hard to see on the food but boy was it packed with richness and depth! I normally like a dark, thick gravy, but this did not disappoint. you could almost feel the love and care put into the food. 5 stars all around just make sure you book!! bravoooo! Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Selection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Seating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Atmosphere ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Parking ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We got a table for 2 easily enough without prebooking, the service was really excellent, and we were definitely well looked after and informed of changes to the menu. We eyed the sharer steak options for 2 and 4 people, but the Chateaubriand (steak for two) was out of stock. We did get to witness the T-bone steak for 4 people, as a gentleman was celebrating his birthday, and two of his friends shared with him - it looked lush! Definitely one I want to try if given the chance :D Back to our menu, the squid rings were lovely and not overcooked, and my wife's cauliflower wings were excellent. Our mains were the burger with chips, and a lamb curry - we were both very pleased with the dishes, so full of flavour. You could taste the chef's skill and passion had gone into them. The one hiccup of our meal was the wait time between service to order dessert, and this was due to the live band that had started in the adjacent pub section of the Rock Inn. Nevertheless, once we'd ordered our desserts and they'd been served, we were pleased once again. The crème brulée had a new twist with the macerated strawberries on top, which actually went really well. As a die-hard Frenchman, I found the change surprising, but also felt it escalated the dish to a new level of appreciation so thank you for broadening my palate. My wife's knickerbocker glory, which I finished, was darn tasty too. Happy to recommend this restaurant and will visit again for that steak!

First time visiting yesterday, we were made to feel very welcome, staff are so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, great selection of quality choices available on the menu. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be going again soon!

Chinese takeaway
Chinese restaurant
Rogers Chinese Takeaway has garnered a variety of opinions, but many patrons consistently rave about their experiences. A popular choice is Menu D for two, which delivers an array of delicious dishes that leave diners satisfied. Recently, one customer discovered Rogers while searching for Cantonese cuisine and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. They particularly enjoyed the thick noodles and tasty starters like prawn toast and salt and chili prawns.
Last week Sunday I fancied eating some Cantonese - Chinese food, most places were closed. So I didn't knew if I could find any place, I found Roger's take away, was a bit skeptical, but turn out to be very good! I love the thick noodles they have, I haven't tried the vermicelli yet! I had some starters like prawn toast, salt and chilli prawns they were all good. Would order from it again

2 of the 5 dishes that we ordered were inedible. Overcooked rubbery dry chicken; and a beef dish that was just beef in a cornflour like goup. But if you are looking for the basics, like rice and chips and chicken balls, they do those well. Lack of flavour in most dishes. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. I remember this place being great about 10 years ago.

Waited over an hour to get our food after booking the table, no customer service. Finally seated and ordered and a table that sat 10 min after our group was served 25 min before us. The fact that there was nowhere else to get a Sunday dinner at such short notice was the only reason we stayed for as long as we did. Food was not as good as it was previously. Portions for the 3 meats was insufficient for a child. I am aware some people eat a lot but this was so small a child would go hungry. Absolutely horrendous service and experience from previous years.

I was appalled by the security guard on Father's day, my Dad who is terminaly ill with cancer and myself spent time in porthcawl for what is most likely his last father's day, we decided to pop into the beachcomber for a small shandy, we had ordered a drink and was waiting for it when the security guard asked us to go back outside and clean our shoes as we had sand on them I thought he was joking and maybe new my dad, my dad said sorry we will bear that in mind for next time, as we could not do anything about what had been done, he then said go now!, I said ok let me get my drink as I had to pay he said no now! we couldn't do anything about the sand besides get our drink and head to the door to clean shoes, the only mat to wipe your feet on was inside the door outside was tiles so dad wiped his feet on the carpet by the door to be told outside, we were told its something you should do on entering any place, as if we waked wet mud in, we are far from disrespectful to public places, it was a sunny dry day, we were shocked as their was no mat or sign to clean feet not to mention this pub is on the fairground beach front that is sand galore, we didn't know we had any sand on.our shoes to even try clean them. My dad was outside so I did go back to say to him that was a bit upset how we were treated and we were none the wiser and there was no mats or notice to say clean shoes and he pretty much just started shouting at me and said once again go out and clean your shoes, which is what we did when he led us out first time, which I told him my shoes are clean, he then again raising his voice telling me come on outside in a loud and aggressive manor and was about to grab my arm as if I was a disterbance, I was shocked I left before my dad saw anything as he would have been horified. I have never had a person ever speak to me like that specially in hospitality, 2hrs later when we walked passed there he was once again pointing and shouting at another lady who seemed to be in as much shock as I was. A man in all my 57 years has never treated me that way I have always drawn respect and politness from people but this person who was the talest staff member there on the 5th June Father's day had no social skills to deal with decent people. Terrible memory !

Whether you opt for a classic favorite or a more adventurous creation, the sheer quality shines through, leaving a lasting impression long after the last spoonful.

The service is generally pretty good sometimes slow during the hotter weather which is understandable. I've loved and gone to this place for many year now since I was young and I have had nothing but fond memories and have joy in going there. I love their ice cream and hope that this place is open for many more years to come ♥︎

Lovely little place to get a hot chocolate after a spin on your motorbike. Stunning views of Cornwall from where you sit, whilst watching the tide come in and out. Meet new people. Plenty of pub and cafes opposite to eat if hungry.

The Prince of Wales offers a warm and friendly atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for travelers taking a break from hiking around the UK. The locals and staff are known for their friendliness, with some even offering assistance such as providing a tent. Visitors have praised the establishment for its superb service, delicious homemade food at reasonable prices, and great selection of beers. The pub's welcoming ambiance and helpful staff make it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy good music while savoring well-prepared meals.
My number one pub in Porthcawl, it's for locals more than tourists. Lovely beer garden with a snug full of characters. Pleasant bar staff that actually talk and have the craic with. I won't be going anywhere else in the future...

Visited on the 5/5/24 staff were very friendly. They squeezed 8 of us in for Sunday lunch may I add was absolutely stunning they never once complained about the child 2 had behaviour problems (ADHD and ASD) the waitress who served us made myself and mother in-law feel at ease as it's stressful going out for food at the best of times I would 100% recommend to other family's

I received a warm welcome the few days I was there, as I took a mini break from my hike around the uk. Locals were friendly as were the staff, some banter which I was happy to return, but it's not for everyone. One of the locals even offered me a tent.

Came into a very lovely pub with very helpful and friendly staff. The music was brilliant. Worth the walk from trecco bay. Prices were really reasonable. The food was fantastic, very delicious Well prepared and a very good amount of it. Will definitely come back again for food. Thank you for a lovely time.

This is one of the best pubs I've ever been to. All staff are very friendly and efficient. Sunday lunch is a treat with quality food and good portions. Open mic night in a Wednesday is entertaining and all are welcome. Well worth a visit.

A small but very cosy pub in a nice location. Came here while in Porthcawl for the day and decided to eat. The food was very good value for money and the wait wasn't long either. The drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. The toilets were a little dated but adequate for the size of the place. what more can you ask for apart from a good pint and great food? Also there is a pool table in the main area and fairly big beer garden.

Chinese takeaway
Chinese restaurant
If you're in Porthcawl and craving some delicious Chinese cuisine, look no further than Roger's Cantonese Takeaway. This gem is known for its outstanding quality, making it a popular choice among locals and visitors alike. While it may be on the pricier side compared to other takeaways in the area, many patrons believe that the exceptional flavors justify the cost.
Phoned a medium sized order for 7 people through at 6.15pm and spoke to a very welcoming person. Order was ready by 6.35pm and was delicious. Prices are good and every item was hot. We all agreed it was one of the nicest "take away" meals we have had in quite a while with decent sized portions. Well worth a visit. Many thanks to all at Cantonese Take Away! We will be back for more.
Ian — Google review
Normally go here every other weekend and have take away with no problems, but this is the first time we've had delivery. We ordered plane Noddles because the kids won't eat them with the beansprouts but as you can guess there was beansprouts, our poppadoms were smashed to pieces and there was no site of the prawn crackers we ordered. But that's not what's the problem it's the conversation when I rang to explain and all I had was we'll sort it with your next order. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
Damian S — Google review
We used Cantonese Take Away twice on our holiday. The service on both occasions for our collection was excellent. Staff were lovely and food was ready when they said it would be. Our first order of spring rolls, honey spare ribs, chicken black bean sauce and satay chicken was all first class. Our second order of chicken black bean sauce and special curry was not so. The black bean sauce meal on both occasions was the best we have tasted but the curry wasn’t good. Pretty tasteless and bland with a very runny sauce, so I would steer clear of this dish. My opinion. Others may like it… Other than that though, the food was very good and I would recommend this take away.

Ordered a takeaway, which was delivered at the time requested, the food was excellent, fresh and very tasty, we had chow main chop suey and sweet and sour Cantonese style, all absolutely delicious will be ordering again.

Have used these place for many years, never had a poor meal, if there is something different you fancy just ask and the girls are only too happy to tell you what they taste like.Keep doing what you do best!

Staying at Trecco bay, we went here based on the reviews and they were fantastic! They opened early on a Saturday so we managed to get our dinner at 5 (small kids were hungry lol) and it was ordered and ready within 20 mins! The food was hot, tasty and the portions were massive! We'll definitely be back when we're back up this way!
Matt J — Google review
One of the slightly more expensive Chinese takeaways in Porthcawl, but the quality of the food is outstanding! No longer than 15-20 minute wait on a busy night in the shop. Delivery usually a bit longer, up to 1 hour or so on a busy night. But definitely worth the wait!!
Peter S — Google review
After searching for Chinese takeaways and finding a lot of negative reviews on various places in Porthcawl, we decided to go with this one. So glad we did, the food was so good! It was still piping hot when we got back to our accommodation with it. The takeaway itself seemed to be popular with local people which is always a good sign. Portions were generous, everything was tasty and nothing was particularly greasy, even the prawn crackers. Would definitely recommend and would use again should we find ourselves in the area.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Nestled in the charming seaside town of Porthcawl, The BoatHouse Fish Bar & Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that goes beyond your typical fish and chips. With a menu featuring not only classic battered fish but also vegan bowls and treats, there's something for everyone. Guests rave about the friendly staff and quick service, even during busy times when queues are common. While seating can be a bit limited, patrons can enjoy their meals alongside refreshing drinks from the nearby bar.
Really great fish and chips! Was going to eat in however opted for a takeaway after realising it worked out £5 cheaper per person. Good value, really good packaging for eating in the beach and a nice clean indoor waiting area. Couldn’t ask for anything more and completed a nice morning out surfing.

A gorgeous fish and chips in a light airy immaculately clean, restaurant overlooking Porthcawl seafront. Staff were also lovely with my little girls and great baby change facility!

We stumbled across this place by chance after a walk in Porthcawl and fancied a bite to eat. We ordered the fish, chips, and mushy peas, which was incredible value for money, especially at under £10! The portion was generous and more than enough for us both. I also asked for a sauce recommendation and the staff suggested the Irish curry sauce, and wow, it was AMAZING. So glad we tried it!

Some of the best Fish and Chips I've had in years. The Haddock was firm and flavourful. I thought chips were chips until I came here. I can't put my finger on why but theirs were just better. Highly recommended
Andrew S — Google review
I can't rate this place for food. My family and I stumbled on this place after arriving in the area for a short holiday. We had had a long day of driving and were very ready for our traditional fish and chips by the sea on arrival. Mum has back and mobility issues, so can't walk too far to get to a prom bench and needs a bathroom reasonably close too, so we needed to eat in. The door to the sit down area was closed, but I could see people sat at two of the tables. I went into the takeaway and asked very politely about sitting down. They saw me help Mum in to her rollator seat at the curb side outside as she was tired. They said they couldn't help, the situation down area had just closed and that was that. I asked if they could recommend anywhere with to eat fish and chips sat down, and they eventually directed us to a pub serving what I imagined was ready battered fish....not at all what we had in mind and very unremarkable. I felt that it would have been so easy for them to let Mum sit in, and the faces of the people in the line suggested they thought so too.

Fish was well battered and fall apart on the fork but the chips didn't satisfy my deep potato needs. Easy restaurant to go to for a quick meal, of course wasn't blown away but still satisfied. Staff were friendly and created a good vibe!

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Finnegan’s Takeaway (Only) Fish & Chips Porthcawl is a popular spot offering delicious, fresh fish and 'proper' thick-cut chips. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes including cod with chips, mushy peas, and sausage with chips. The restaurant is located near several attractions such as Ewenny Pottery and Rest Bay Watersports Centre. While some find the prices on the higher side, many appreciate the fresh quality of the food.
You can only speak as you find. Had 2 jumbo sausage chips and Irish curry sauce. It was fantastic. I found it great value for money. Thanks to all the staff. Place was very clean.

Ordered 2 fish and chips. I didnt say small. The fish was tiny hence the photo with my finger for comparison. I only cut a tiny bit into the tail end. Spent £17 on 2 fish. They were tasty but very disappointed with the size.
T P — Google review
I had one of the most upsetting dining experiences at Finnegans on Well Street in Porthcawl, and I want to warn other parents—especially those with neurodivergent children—to avoid this place. Before placing our order, we informed the manager that our 5-year-old son is autistic and may get vocal while waiting for food. We also asked about using the toilet, but instead of responding, he ignored the request and focused on getting us to pay quickly so he could rush our order through. Only after payment was made did he casually mention that the food would take a while to cook. This wouldn’t have been an issue if we had been allowed to use their toilets as we originally asked. To make matters worse, after receiving our payment, he turned on the radio and increased the volume, making things even more overwhelming for my son. It felt like a deliberate act of hostility rather than an effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. When we asked again about the toilets, we were told they were locked because, during half-term, children had been "left to run wild" in them, flooding the restaurant. He said he didn’t want that happening again, so they were now locked and out of order to customers eating at their restaurant. We had no issue stepping out to find another restroom while our food was being prepared, but unfortunately, in the time it took, my son had a small wet accident on his trousers. When we returned to collect our food, I asked if I could discreetly change my son on my lap in the corner, as he was overwhelmed and upset, and that we would take our food as a takeaway rather than dining in. Instead of showing even the smallest amount of understanding, the manager accused my son of "wrecking" his restaurant—an outrageous claim, especially considering my son was seated in a mobility chair and is profoundly disabled. I calmly explained that he was vocally stimming to regulate himself due to the distress of having to leave the restaurant to find a public restroom, only for the manager to coldly respond, “That’s not my problem.” This level of hostility and ignorance toward autistic individuals is completely unacceptable. A business that advertises itself as family-friendly should understand that inclusivity means more than just taking our money before changing the rules. We left feeling humiliated, upset, and with a child who was unnecessarily distressed. If you have neurodivergent family members or simply expect basic kindness from staff, this is not the place to go.

Had fish, chips and mushy peas twice, overpriced chips your typical dried up chip shop chips, cod not the best and £2:75 for a portion of mushy peas and £2:50 for one can of coke £37:50 will not be going back had better elsewhere and cheaper. They must think it's a michalin restaurant when it's just your local chippy would not recommend this place complete rip off and not the best food

Wimpy is a beloved eatery that has stood the test of time, offering a laid-back atmosphere perfect for casual dining. This iconic chain serves up an array of delicious comfort food, with a focus on mouthwatering burgers and mixed grills that are sure to satisfy any craving. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Wimpy provides the ideal setting to enjoy hearty dishes in good company.
Food was icey cold. Was disgusting. Staff urghh one member was playing with her dirty hair then touching food and straws straight after. Giving us dirty looks. Not polite at all either. Went for a cigarette went straight back in without washing her hands and touching food yet again. Never going back again. And the price of food for the amount you get is ridiculous. Especially coming out like it hadn't been cooked and handled with dirty hands. Made me feel sick.
Amy T — Google review
I love wimpy but this is not a good representation at all. Chips tasted like they had been cooked in lard. Burger no sauce and bun for quarter pounder was not in a brown fluffy bun but a white flat burger bun. Avoid this place still have after taste... yuck.
Janet G — Google review
One star given as there is not a 0 star option available. Bought a burger which was served still raw in the middle, probe was not used to ensure correct temperature of food. Staff were grubby looking and the shop was not clean. I don’t recommend this place especially if your feeding kids.
Philip E — Google review
Food was nice. Price was bad. £10.60 for a double quarter pounder meal, and they charged extra for cheese on it even though the picture has cheese on it. Charged for bacon even though I did t want bacon. Charged 50p extra for a bottle of water even though it was a meal. Not cheap. But nice food.
Paul H — Google review
Absolutely shocking bought £27 worth of meals for 3 children (3 menu meals) asked for some ketchup only to be told 20 or 25 pence each!!! mac Donald's always give you more than you need ! never go there again, the burgers were ok ish not worth the money at all, staff are useless..
Barry G — Google review
We visit a Wimpy whenever we travel somewhere in the Uk and also go out of our way to find one when we go, but the experience we had at Wimpy porthcawl should have the franchise stripped from the owner. We know what to expect with Wimpy and I even worked for them as a teenager, and these guys have no clue. The place was dirty, unmaintained. The food took over 25 minutes to cook and when we got it, the Chips were cooked in oil that was obviously months old, they were limp, brown, greasy and had an disturbing odour. they were not the correct chips from the distributor, and I suspect bought from some supermarket. The burgers were dry and overcooked, and anyone who is a fan of Wimpy knows there are no tomatoes in a quarterpounder with cheese. The onion was not from the distributor (dehydrated minced onions) either and was a red onion cut up in huge chunks. the bun was stale & flat and the cups smelt that they've been in damp storage for some time. Even though the hygiene rating says 4 outside, I never saw the guy wash his hands once and was talking to people when we entered and no effort to clean tables or surfaces had been made. I really regret my visit there and had reservations when entering, but my love for a wimoy took over, and was left feeling ill and disappointed. ps. no one ate the chips, or drunk the drinks, and the kids left most of their burgers.
Matthew D — Google review
Went today. Cost £23 for 3 meals. No coffee. The burgers were under cooked and cold. The restaurant was dirty. The staff were rude. It wasn't that busy but it was not staffed enough. God help when it full season! Won't be going again!!!
Andrew F — Google review
clearly didnt want our service. waited over 20 minutes to get served and person was too busy on Mobile phone . didnt look very clean . i would not give a 4 star hygiene rating for the place . more like a 1 . very run down . holes in floor. flies everywhere by serving area. no toilets either . drove over 40 miles to this place not to even get served .
