Alappuzha Beach is a popular waterfront destination in Kerala, offering visitors a chance to explore its historic pier and enjoy cruises in quaint houseboats. The area hosts the famous Alappuzha Beach Festival and the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, providing an opportunity to experience vibrant festivals showcasing Kerala's traditions. Additionally, visitors can explore the Revi Karunakaran Museum to delve into the region's cultural heritage.
Alappuzha Beach is a nice place to relax and enjoy the sea view. The shore is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant for an evening walk or to sit and watch the waves. However, the water gets deep quickly, so it is not very safe for playing or going far into the sea. Better to enjoy the view from the shore. Overall, a peaceful spot to spend some time.
Nikitha A — Google review
The beach has a nice and cool atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot to relax and unwind. The surroundings are calm and peaceful, perfect for spending some leisure time. There are many small shops nearby selling food, ice cream, juices, and snacks, so you’ll never run out of options to munch on. The play areas and leisure spaces are also well-maintained and neatly arranged, making it a good place for families and children. However, there’s a slight fishy smell in beach areas, which can be unpleasant at times. Apart from that, the beach itself is beautiful and offers a refreshing experience overall.
Chithira R — Google review
Visited Alappuzha Beach in the evening. It was a very active and lively beach. The weather was beautiful and pleasant when we visited. There are many coffee shops, cake shops, and restaurants located below the pine trees, creating a great vibe. You’ll need to park along the roadside under the N.H. overbridge. It’s a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. oilet facilities are available, but they are not very clean. 🏖️ A truly beautiful beach with a refreshing atmosphere.
Amal V — Google review
The beautiful sunsets and enjoy the beach in evenings. The beach is conveniently located near Alappuzha town, making it easy to access by car or public transport. There are shops, restaurants, and a park for families,The nearby lighthouse is also a popular attraction. .

Gorgeous long beach on the Arabian sea... perfect for walking. Big waves. Lots of small stalls/shops along the way.. Jet skiing, quads and speed boat trips on beach.. very cheap approx €6 for jet skiing.
Gillian C — Google review
Visited at night — the beach was calm, breezy, and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing walk by the waves. However, there’s no proper parking facility, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, a nice spot to unwind! 🌊
Prem K — Google review
A very relaxing place with a lovely sea breeze. The sunset here is amazing, and photos taken during that time come out beautifully. There are plenty of snack shops nearby, so it's convenient if you want a quick bite. It is also a good spot to bring kids and spend some peaceful time. Overall, a calm and pleasant beach to enjoy the evening.

The most beautiful beach in Alleppey! A must-visit, especially at sunset, when the sky is painted in magical colors ✨. Just be prepared for a bit of a crowd, but it's totally worth it!

Museum
Art Museums
Revi Karunakaran Memorial Museum is a captivating destination that offers a glimpse into an extensive private family collection, featuring a diverse range of religious artwork. The museum boasts stunning marble and crystal installations, along with a dedicated Kerala Room showcasing the state's art and culture. Art enthusiasts will be drawn to the vast collection of Tanjore paintings and the impressive 250 ft tall mural.
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. The collection of artifacts and jewels is mind blowing, made me think was this some Maharaja's collection or what. The Swarovski and Lladro collections literally blind your eyes. You aren't allowed to take photos inside. The entry fee of Rs.200/person is a bit on the higher end but okay as a one time expense worth it. Would request the folks at the museum to add more signboards and info boards for the artifacts. Makes it more appealing
Pranav M — Google review
This is a commendable destination to explore. I highly recommend visiting the first floor of this museum, where you can find an impressive collection of crystals from various countries. The ticket price is Rs 200, which is little expensive. If it is ₹100 then it's okay.
ROSHAN P — Google review
At first, we hesitated a bit when we heard the entry ticket was ₹200 per head—not too expensive, but we wondered if a museum would really be worth it. To our surprise, it absolutely was. If you appreciate art, this place is a hidden gem. It's said to house the largest collection of Swarovski and ivory artifacts—and the craftsmanship is truly breathtaking No photos inside, almost 1.5 hours of tour
Ashika S — Google review
I was doubtful after hearing the entry ticket of 200rs. But it was worthwhile. The collections in the museum spoke for themselves. The collection of Ivory items they had in this museum is astonishing. Must visit!
Sanjay S — Google review
Could have been more better, though the collection is good, no one is there to properly explain about each item, which is on display. Also the price per one person is 200 which is very high. Didn't feel worthy. Monday is holiday. Open 9 Am to 5 Pm everyday except Monday. Photography is not allowed inside.
Ayusam A — Google review
The place is an upper class like set up showcasing a wide variety of items from across the globe. The items are mostly the collection from one esteemed family based on Alappuzha. It is worth a visit once but don't necessarily have a rewatch scope. People with taste in history and art do have a scope of exploration in the place. The place has a good number of footfalls but the ticket rates are bit costly.
Atul T — Google review
Revi Karunakaran Museum is a privately owned museum with an impressive collection of ivory works, paintings, coins, and various luxury artifacts. The exhibits are well displayed and offer a glimpse into art, culture, and heritage. However, I felt the entry fee was a bit on the higher side. Also, photography is not allowed inside. Overall, it is worth a visit if you appreciate detailed craftsmanship and historical collections.
Nikitha A — Google review
Excellent collection of artifacts well maintained. The guides posted at the exhibits could have been better in describing the details about unique exhibits rather than standing and simply pointing visitors to move through the gallery. The one negative shade is the exorbitant admission fee of two hundred rupees along with a strict no photography rule imposed as well. That's why i have deducted a star from the rating. The other government historic monuments across the state charge a quarter price only when compared to the charges here. They allow photography too. Time pass for traveler's strolling around Alapuzha for an hour or so.

Specialty Museums
The International Coir Museum, located in Kalavoor, Alleppey, is a small but fascinating institution that showcases the history and evolution of the coir industry. Visitors can explore exhibits on traditional coir production methods as well as the latest advancements in the field. The museum features unique coir-made objects and offers a brief video presentation that takes guests through the journey of coir from its origins to modern developments. With its convenient location just 8.
This exceptional museum, integrated within a coir processing and manufacturing facility, boasts a well-organized layout and numerous engaging exhibits. Displays effectively illustrate the diverse applications of coir in various building materials. Furthermore, the museum showcases the evolution of machinery used throughout the years, culminating in a view of contemporary equipment and a glimpse into the factory's active production floor. A small souvenir shop is conveniently located at the exit.
Krish — Google review
If you're in Alleppey, it's a good way of spending your day exploring this museum. The staff is very cooperative and friendly, in terms of any queries or curiousity about the museum. You can also visit the actual training area within the museum campus where the coir fibres are being woven.
Damini A — Google review
Interesting museum, fascinating to see what can be made from the humble coconut. Quite small and so it was over quickly. I would have liked more detailed information on the exhibits and was disappointed there was no gift shop.. Also no cash or card payments were allowed which is a problem for tourists Luckily our tuktuk driver paid on Google pay and we reimbursed him.
Yiota D — Google review
This international court museum is a good place to know about the history especially for the kids. They have the coir making machine of different ages. Various products made out of coir are also beautifully exhibited. Very small museum and can be covered by half an hour.
Lakshmi S — Google review
U ique Gallery that chronicles the early history of the coir industry. Large old photographs of the British pioneers to various crafts, early machinery to the latest contractions of how coir is made are on display. Interesting, very interesting
Jinshad J — Google review
Located on the national highway, the Coir museum is a good place to learn about the coir industry and history and multiple applications, good learning experience for the children and adults as well.
Saakib M — Google review
The museum was well maintained with products made of coir and the machines used to make it. It can definitely be visited along with the family for 20 minutes.
Harish D — Google review
Visited the International Coir Museum at Apoor, Kalavoor recently. The museum primarily offers displays of coir products, but there were no guides available to provide explanations or insights about the exhibits. We purchased tickets for the visit, and while the museum is clean and organized, the collection of coir arts was not very large during our visit. Interestingly, they also sell ice creams inside the museum, which was a nice treat for children. Despite the limited exhibits, children enjoyed the visit and found the displays interesting. The museum is decent for a short visit, especially for families with kids who want to get a basic idea of coir products and local crafts. Overall, it’s worth visiting if you are in the area, but don’t expect a very detailed or extensive coir collection. Having a guide or more information about the exhibits would definitely enhance the experience.

Alappuzha Light House, a red-and-white striped lighthouse built in 1862, offers panoramic views of the coastline and backwaters. It also houses a small history museum where visitors can learn about its rich maritime heritage. This historic structure served as a navigational aid for sailors during the 18th and 19th centuries when Alleppey was a major trading port in Kerala.
Such a nice place. Can be a bit crowded. View point is amazing. For adults, ticket price is Rs.20, and they will ask another ticket Rs.20 for photography irrespective of camera or mobile phone. But tell them we will keep the phone in car/bike itself. They will be forced to leave you.
Madhan M — Google review
Wonderful tourist destination! Entry fee is ₹20 per person. Photography fee is ₹10 per device.
Irfan P — Google review
The view from the platform was amazing and they have maintained the place well but the fact that they only take cash is the downside. So we had to run around to find an atm and ultimately borrowed from another person who had come to visit. That made the experience not so pleasant. So would love to see upi options next time. Otherwise loved the place.
Geethu B — Google review
We visited the Alappuzha Lighthouse on a rainy weekday, and despite the weather, it turned out to be a memorable experience. The climb to the top is via a narrow spiral staircase, which can be a bit challenging—especially for elderly visitors or those wearing sarees or skirts. So do keep that in mind while planning your visit. Entry is quite affordable: ₹20 for adults, ₹10 for senior citizens, and an additional ₹10 if you plan to take photos using your phone (which they’ll ask at the ticket counter). Once you reach the top, the panoramic view is absolutely worth the effort. From the lighthouse, you can spot the vast Arabian Sea, the elevated coastal highway, the tetra bridge, and the surrounding greenery of Alappuzha. The combination of misty rain and the scenic landscape made the view even more stunning. Overall, a must-visit spot in Alappuzha for history lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. Just be prepared for the stairs!
Aravind N — Google review
Alappuzha Beach is truly a gem! The beach is super clean, and the sunset views are just magical. You can relax nearby in cozy resorts like Alleppey Beach Resorts or enjoy homestays at places like Pearl Beach Bungalow Heritage Home. There are also plenty of fun things to do—try out backwater cruises, kayaking, or just grab some fresh coconut water. The vibe here is peaceful, perfect for unwinding with friends or family. Did you get a chance to try any water sports or a houseboat ride? 🌊

This 500-year-old temple showcases classic Kerala-style architecture and hosts the annual festival of Mullakkal Chirappu, lasting for 41 days. The temple's inclusive nature welcomes devotees from all castes and religions, reflecting the spirit of secularism in Kerala.
I visited Mulakkal Rajeshwari Temple in the evening, and it was a truly peaceful experience. The divine presence of the goddess was so beautiful that I felt completely lost in her aura. The surroundings were serene, and the soothing chants and mantras added to the positive energy all around. A spiritually uplifting visit—highly recommended for anyone seeking peace and devotion.

Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple in Alappuzha is a divine sanctuary dedicated to Goddess Rajarajeswari. 🌸 It’s famous for its open-roof sanctum and calm, traditional Kerala temple vibes. 🙏 During Mullakkal Chirappu festival, the whole area lights up with devotion, color, and culture! ✨

Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple is one of the famous Hindu temple located in Alappuzha, Kerala. It is dedicated to Goddess Rajarajeswari, a form of Durga, and is known for its unique open-roof sanctum. Open-Roof Sanctum: The main deity, Goddess Rajarajeswari, is housed under an open sky, which is rare in temple architecture. Other Deities: Apart from Rajarajeswari, the temple also has shrines for Lord Karthikeya, Lord Krishna, Lord Ayyappa, Lord Hanuman, and Nagaraja (serpent deity). There is one elephant also there in this temple.

I have been to Kerala many times but now it was time to come to Alapuzha. I came to this temple in the evening. It is a peaceful, beautiful and powerful temple. Men should wear a vest and not wear a shirt.
Subramanian M — Google review
Major temple in Alappuzha town. The deity here is Goddess Durga. Vana Durga to be more specific. Located in the heart of Alappuzha town, this beautiful old temple attracts a large number of pilgrims from inside and outside Alappuzha. The ambience here is very cool and soothing even though located in a busy area. Lord Murugan, Krishna, Ganapati, Ayyappan, Nava grahas and Nagaraja are present as Upadevathas. The most important festival of this temple is the Malayalam month of Dhanu starts in the middle of December known as Mullackal Chirappu. A 11 day or sometimes 12 days festival which is famous in other districts also. The Kodiyett Ulsavam is during the Navaratri and is the first Temple Ulsavam in Alappuzha in the Malayalam year. This festival starts on Prathama and ends on the Vijayadasami day with Arattu at Pazhaveedu temple.

If you're a Hindu person or someone with deep respect for Hindu/Sanathan dharma traditions, this temple is worth a visit. It is a historic temple of the area with its own temple tank (pond) at the back. Photography isnt allowed inside temple Premises and other rules are prominently displayed near the FRONT entrance on the main street side (not the parking entrance side). Do please enter via main entrance and read the rules prior to entry try and adhere to them. I have only photos taken from the main street side.

The Alleppey Backwaters, also known as the Alappuzha backwaters, are a must-visit destination in Kerala. This picturesque network of tranquil waterways is surrounded by lush greenery and charming villages, offering a serene and peaceful experience for all types of travelers. Originally used for transportation, fishing, and agriculture, the backwaters have now become a popular tourist hotspot.
It's a pure beauty of nature. We've visited here many times either with family or friends. In most of the times we taken some houseboat services or tourist boat services. But in the recent time, we planned for a change and taken a small open boat for the 360 degree view and also for taking photos from all directions. It was very awesome experience. We wished it would never end. Also the boat driver taken us for some adventure. It's a must-visit place at least once for everyone in the world.
Nithin M — Google review
A very enjoyable trip on a boat with two private rooms. You can take a one-day tour with food and air-conditioned rooms. The team we went with was very nice, but it is not recommended for those who suffer from sea or water sickness, but the place and the experience are worth it.
Zak D — Google review
God’s own country truly justified. Backwater’s beauty is really good. There are government boat available from Jetty. Private boat also available, rate may vary season wise. If you want to explore narrow canal, then rent small boat. Rate 800 per hour. But, narrow canal view is really mind blowing.
SAIKAT M — Google review
Alleppey backwaters is nothing short of magical. Often referred to as the “Venice of the East,” this serene destination in Kerala offers a unique blend of natural beauty, tranquility, and cultural richness. Cruising through the interconnected canals, lakes, and lagoons on a traditional houseboat is an experience unlike any other. The lush green paddy fields, swaying coconut palms, and charming villages along the banks create a postcard-perfect setting. The houseboats are well-equipped with modern amenities, and the warm hospitality of the staff adds to the charm. Freshly cooked Kerala cuisine, especially the seafood, is a treat for the taste buds. You can choose between a day cruise or an overnight stay, though spending a night under the stars in the calm waters is highly recommended for a truly immersive experience. One practical tip: book your houseboat in advance, especially during peak tourist season. Also, carry cash, as digital payments may not be widely accepted in some areas. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, romance, or a glimpse into local life, Alleppey backwaters deliver on all fronts. It’s a must-visit for anyone exploring Kerala — peaceful, picturesque, and soul-soothing.
Devansh R — Google review
Before exploring Kerala i thought this would be the best compared to munnar, but it's too hot at this place and a lot of mosquitoes at night where the house boat is parked. I don't recommend a single room house boat , prefer deluxe boats with 3-4 rooms unless your priority is privacy. House boats roam for 1-2 hours and later park at a place and they don't cover large areas and won't stop at places we want. If you want to roam a specific area you need to take small boats to take control of places to see. My dinner plan at the boat was upset, I couldn't capture pics at that lighting and we can't have a peaceful dinner due to a lot of mosquitoes. I suggest taking mini boats for roaming and book a good resort and have a peaceful dinner near the pool. If you want to stay at a house boat compulsory then book a shared boat with 3 or 4 rooms for a low cost compared to a single room one and pre discuss what they cover and where they will take

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chilled Out Day at Alleppey Backwaters – With Office Colleagues Hi all, Me and my office colleagues had a fun trip to Alleppey Backwaters! We were staying at Ernakulam, and from there we visited Fort Kochi and rented bikes to ride down to Alleppey — the ride itself was exciting! 🛵🌴 We took a small boat ride through the backwaters. At first, it was really thrilling, but after some time, the slow pace made some of us feel sleepy 😅. Still, it was peaceful and relaxing. The best part? The boat driver stopped mid-way where there are small floating shops! We tried masala soda there — it gave us a sudden energy boost! 💥🧊 After that, we requested the driver to drop us back quickly because we were all super hungry. We headed straight to Aramana Restaurant for some good food. Overall, a great experience with lots of laughs and good memories. Just a tip: bring some snacks and music if you're planning a long boat ride 😄

Vijay Park, situated on the southern side of the Alappuzha backwaters in Kerala, is a delightful initiative by the state government. It features an array of activities for both kids and adults, including swings, slides, thrilling rides, boating facilities, and a toy train that takes children around the park. Additionally, there's Amaze World with electronic games and a 9-D Theatre.
Very enjoyable experience from this park. Entering fee 20 rupees of this park . Caiking is available only 60 rupees, 04 person in single boat . Video gaming is available after pay 50 rupees per game . Mostly gaming machine not work only two to three work. Overall this park made for children enjoying. Maintenance of this park is not on time so condition of park is very pathetic.

My grandma enjoyed visiting the park but it needs some maintenance. 20/- bucks for adults, but mainly geared towards little kids and seniors for a relaxed time. Some things in the park are broken, and some attractions require extra payment. They have a small cafe and a gaming spot that attracts teens. Keep in mind that most rides come with an additional cost. Overall, it's a family-friendly place, perfect for a day out, but an upgrade is needed!

I do not recommend this place, especially for families with young children. The staff, particularly in the amusement area, were unprofessional and rude, showing little regard even toward kids. The overall service was extremely poor. The amusement park inside does not accept convenient payment options such as GPay, which makes transactions difficult. Moreover, the rides are not well-maintained—many are chipped, broken, or appear unsafe for children. Cleanliness and safety standards seem to be completely neglected, which is concerning when families are paying ₹50 per ride. As a parent, I strongly advise against bringing children under 10 years old here, as both the facilities and staff attitude fail to ensure a safe or enjoyable experience.

Park near the alappey beach by Dtpc. good for kids for a picnic.Neat and clean area..but There is no appropriate lightings in night time. The amusement area have seperate fees. Rides and swings are less.
Muhammad S — Google review
Worst park ever… please don’t waste your time coming here. Some staff members are polite, but most of them behave as if visitors are disturbing their free time. Especially the lady at the ticket counter—she is extremely rude, unprofessional, and carries a pathetic attitude. Instead of welcoming customers, she treats them with arrogance and disrespect. With such behavior, no one would ever want to come back. Even if the park is not maintained properly, people may adjust if the staff are kind and helpful. But when the person sitting inside the counter behaves in such a hostile and unfriendly manner, it completely ruins the experience. If the management has no intention of improving this place and wants it to turn into an abandoned park, then keeping such an employee is the fastest way to achieve that. This park near Alappuzha Beach has the potential to be a wonderful attraction, but in its current state—with poor maintenance and shockingly bad staff behavior—it is nothing short of a disgrace.

Visited vijay park with my wife and 01 year daughter... Feels like they don't even concerned on safety.. proper lights are not there ... Also no special rides, still.having conventional items... Better don't go here with kids .. Not properly maintained...
Saran B — Google review
A pretty well maintained park with a bounty of activities. The focus is on tots and kids. There is a rising bull, dashing cars, children's play equipments, skating, ATV rides, boating in the pool and more. Attached to it is the amaze world which hosts another set of electronically controlled games and activities which includes a 9-D Theatre, rides, arcade, food court, toy train and more. Being located on the shores of the sprawling and lengthy Alappuzha beach, the park presents an immense potential to draw in crowd.

Entry fee is nominal. Each ride will cost you Rs50/-. Visit during evening hours for better experience for kids.

Seaview Park, located near Alappuzha Beach, is a beautiful garden that provides a refreshing break for visitors. It offers over 50 rides, a virtual reality cinema, magic shows, and pedal boating. The park is an ideal destination for family outings and adventure tourism experiences. Visitors can enjoy activities such as ziplining, rope rides, paddle boats, kayaking, and even a 12D video experience.
The park was very well kept and all walls were full of colours and artwork. The staff were cordial and supportive. The rides were nice and the rope adventure was the best. All activities were well designed and coordinated to give a very joyful experience. We loved it!!!

Awesome. Small size park only.. But the price is also very cheap. Customer service is good. Water is not good and there are some bad smells.

This is one of the best spots to chill in Alappuzha, especially for families. It offers a variety of water sports like pedal boating and child boating, along with exciting adventure activities like a zip line. There's even a small 3D theatre for some extra fun! It's a child-friendly destination near the beach, with plenty of food spots around to grab a bite. Perfect for a fun day out with the family!

Great place to spend time with family. The 12D cinema can be a bit scary for small children... however rest of the rides are good. The only issue we found was the toilets not secure, and not very clean. Apart from that its a lovely place to spend the day...

Excellent places for kids physical activities and boating. Close to Alleppey beach, so one can plan and spend the afternoon here boating and with kid's activities and then go to the beach at sunset time. You get excellent milk shakes and tea here. My daughter enjoyed the activities here.

Sea View Park is a fantastic, value-for-money addition to a family day out in Aleppey. The commendable service from the pleasant and considerate staff ensures the park is (comparatively) clean and safe. With its attractively painted walls and peaceful ambiance, it's a wonderful place for kids to enjoy some open space and for parents to relax. It's absolutely worth visiting and highly recommended!

Alleppey Sea View Park is a lovely and peaceful place to visit, located near the beautiful Alleppey Beach. The park offers a well-maintained garden area with plenty of seating and walking paths, making it perfect for a relaxed evening stroll or spending quality time with family and friends. What stands out is the scenic view of the sea from the park, especially during sunset – the sky turns into beautiful shades of orange and pink, creating a picture-perfect moment. The atmosphere is very calm and clean, with good lighting in the evening, making it a safe and pleasant spot to visit after sunset. There are small food stalls nearby where you can grab some snacks, and local vendors selling souvenirs. The park is well-kept and not too crowded, providing a quiet place to enjoy the sea breeze.

Alleppey Beach, also known as Alappuzha Beach, is a stunning destination with a long coastline and breathtaking beauty. The beach features an old pier, adjacent park, and occasional events and festivals. Surrounded by palm trees, an ancient lighthouse, and lush gardens along the shore, it offers a mesmerizing natural scenic beauty. Visitors can also explore the Krishnapuram Palace to gain insight into Kerala's culture and history.
The beach was clean, well-maintained, and had proper lifeguard presence, which made us feel safe. It’s a peaceful and calm spot perfect for unwinding. We enjoyed our evening snacks here, especially the egg pakoras which were delicious. However, the tea could have been better. Overall, a relaxing experience by the sea.

Alleppey Beach is a tranquil gem on the Kerala coast, offering a calm and relaxing escape from the busier beaches nearby. It’s rarely crowded, especially in the mornings, making it easy to find a peaceful spot amidst soft sand and swaying palms. The beach is impressively clean with unspoiled surroundings and very little pollution, making sunset walks, quiet picnics, and solo reflection genuinely enjoyable. Whether lounging or strolling, Alleppey Beach is perfect for those seeking peace, fresh air, and a pollution-free environment. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a serene coastal experience without the usual bustle.

We visited Alappuzha Beach in the evening and was stunned to see the amazing sunsets, golden sands, and a peaceful vibe—perfect for all! .Family friendly environment. Clean beach wih Beautiful sunset view. Must visit. Food stall available well reasonable. Alappuzha Beach is a popular tourist attraction in the coastal town of Alappuzha .Alappuzha Lighthouse situated near to the beach. Beach is accessible through various town roads and an elevated highway will passing by the beach as part of Alappuzha bypass in order to preserve the beauty of the area.

So beautiful place to visit. The views are breathtaking. The beach as a whole is a calm and serene experience though tides can be huge during full moon. The beach is clean, though better efforts could be done to keep it clean. The place to change clothes and washrooms are okaish. They take 20 rupees just for changing and are not super well maintained. Food is nice here. Variety of veg as well as non veg dishes available. Recommended👍🏻
Gaurav S — Google review
As usual a good beach with lot of amenities around. Good picture points throughout. Sunset view is very beautiful as you can see the SUN dipping into the sea. Very long beach. Little dirty as people coming keep littering on the beach. Good food available both on the beach and off the beach. Parking is little mess as it is available on the roadside. Plus there is a parking space on the opposite side of the road also. Weekends are usually very busy.

Had an unforgettable ride with Mr. Jayan and Sathgamaya Shikara in Alleppey! The boat was clean and comfortable, and he took us through peaceful canals away from the crowds. We also stopped for an awesome lunch at a local spot and tried fresh Kerala food with toddy at a traditional toddy shop – a must-try experience! Mr. Jayan’s warm hospitality made it even more special. Highly recommended! 🌿🚤🍲🥂

It's known for its tranquil atmosphere and is generally less crowded, making it perfect for those seeking peace and solitude.
Beautiful and serene, this is the perfect beach if you visit after 4 pm or before 8am. Nobody is selling anything on the beach, there is almost no crowd, no shacks, no noise. You can catch the fishermen in action with a beautiful sunset in the background.

Kerala Kayaking offers a 4-hour sunrise kayaking tour starting at 6AM, led by the knowledgeable and friendly guide, Samson. The tour takes you through smaller areas inaccessible to houseboats, providing insights into the local flora and fauna. The experience includes a mix of kayaking and motoring on the Shikara, allowing for breaks between sessions. Additionally, guests are treated to a traditional breakfast and lunch as part of the package.
Best experience we’ve had so far in India. We did 4 hours starting at 2pm, was not too hot and we were out late enough to see the sun setting. The guide gave us lots of information about the trees, wildlife and life in Kerela. We took two long breaks for water and tea. The guide was often checking and asking if we were tired/ needed a break or lift back with a motor boat. It was such a lovely afternoon, definitely the best way to see the backwater (especially if you are on a budget).
Jessica H — Google review
We had an excellent time on the 7 hour kayaking tour, with Samson as our guide. He was very friendly, attentive, and had boundless knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area! He was telling us all about the different birds and fruit trees all around us. He was a great guide and took us around some beautiful parts of the backwaters. We did a mix of kayaking and motoring on the Shikara, which was great for allowing breaks between kayaking sessions. Included in the price was a decent enough breakfast and lunch.
Alex M — Google review
I had read a lot of reviews for kerala kayaking (Mr. Samson is the guide). We had taken an early morning tour at 6:30 am. When you go make sure you wear clothes that dry quickly and avoid exposing body. Samson is one experienced man and he is such an excellent tour organiser. He took us through the narrowest of backwaters possible. We got to see the parts of Alleppey that cannot be seen by road. Women washing their laundary, Children having their morning bath, birds fishing, houseboats going by. backwaters, wide, small, busy, deserted.. you will have a taste of it all. We were provided with breakfast (included in the package of 2000 per head, and they provide the pick-up and drop too) at a local place. It was too small, you cannot even call it an eatery but the breakfast was great. Everything about the tour is local. It drips culture. We enjoyed every bit of it. If you are reading this Samson, You are doing an awesome job out there. The only sad part I found was there was not one Indian on the tour apart from us. People around the world come and seek such adventures on our land and we remain ignorant. PS: You will find it physically tough to row in the beginning if you have never done kayaking before but it is a 4 hour long tour and you will get used to it in a short time and start enjoying so much
Simeen S — Google review
Great day out with Kerela Kayaking! Samson is a great guide and tailor makes the day for you. He’s full of fascinating info about the waterways, wildlife, plant life and all things Kerela and India in general. On the Kayaks you get to explore the smallest of backwaters and really see local life. We stopped for a delicious lunch at a small restaurant on the waterways and then later on in the afternoon some great snacks. A motorboat meets you along the way to give you a break from the kayaking and the sun and heat which is a great touch. Would highly recommend a tour with these guys! We had a great day and again Samson is a credit to the tour 👌🏼
Adyhughes — Google review
Fantastic experience. We took the 11-6pm kayaking trip and it was amazing. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about local culture and wildlife - the kayaking routes we took were all incredible ... really small little canals full of village life. My wife and 4 year old son came along too and all thoroughly enjoyed it although they did opt to rest in the support boat for one of the trips. We all agreed this was the best thing we'd done in India during the whole holiday.
Rob D — Google review
The experience was wonderful, great to see the backwaters from the kayak. We were picked up on time for the morning sunrise trip and taken to the location for the activity. We felt safe with Sam, he is very experienced and knowledgable of the local area. He provided good nuggets of information of the areas we kayaked around, wildlife and plants/trees. We would recommend this activity for those who want a more personal experience of the backwaters compared to doing the houseboats and for those who aren’t afraid of doing some exercise. It is a better environmentally friendly way to experience the backwaters too! Improvements: their website could be updated, a quick health and safety talk prior to jumping in the kayaks may have been useful & that gentle arms stretches prior to starting the activity would have been useful :)
Anand L — Google review
Kayaking through the kerela backwaters offers a real insight into the daily life in backwaters. The company offers two type of kayaking packages; a four hour tour and a 7 hour tour. We did the four hour tour. Kayaking through the small canals offers a insight of the local life in backwaters that can't be experienced in a big boat. The tour guide is a very nice guy, very helpful and friendly. You also get to have breakfast at a local restaurant which is a very good experience.

Andhakaranazhi Beach, located 30 kilometers from Kochi, is a hidden gem that offers a relaxed and uncommercialized coastal experience. This virgin beach is an extension of the village of Andhakaranazhi and remains relatively unexploited by tourism. The area is known for its picturesque views of the Arabian Sea, pristine sandy shores, coconut groves, and quaint lighthouse. Fishing is a common sight here as it serves as the main occupation for locals.

A perfect weekend beach with a lot of local snack shops. Used to be much better but due to lack of maintenance and care, it has declined in aesthetics. Avoid going to the right side of the beach, bcoz that is where people come to do religious rituals so best areas will be to the left side. And avoid littering.

Andhakaranazhi Beach is a peaceful and scenic beach in Alappuzha district. It is located in Pattanakkad Grama Panchayat of Cherthala Taluk, about 30 km from Alappuzha and 48 km from Kochi. The name means "depth of darkness" and is known for its natural beauty. Features of Andhakaranazhi Beach * Sea-Backwater Confluence: This is an estuary where the Arabian Sea and the Vembanad Backwater meet. This rare confluence makes this beach even more beautiful. * Lighthouse: There is a beautiful lighthouse here, which is about 30 years old. It is a major attraction of this coastal area. * Walkway: An aerial walkway has been built here that extends into the sea. It helps tourists to see the most beautiful views of the sunset. * Fishing Village: Since it is a typical fishing village, you can see the traditional lifestyle of fishermen here. * Movie Location: The beauty of Andhakaranazhi has been the backdrop for songs in many Malayalam movies. The beach has small eateries and other facilities available for visitors. It is visited by a large number of tourists on weekends. How to reach Andhakaranazhi? * By Road: It is easily accessible by road from Kochi and Alappuzha. From Kochi, take the National Highway 66 (NH 66) and turn onto Andhakaranazhi Road from Thuravoor. * By Train: The nearest railway stations to Andhakaranazhi are Cherthala and Vayalar. From these stations, you can reach the beach by taxi or autorickshaw. * Airport: The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport (COCHIN International Airport - COK). You can book a taxi from the airport and go directly to the beach. The best time to travel is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant.

I recently visited Andhakaranazhi Beach near Cherthala, and it was a beautiful and peaceful experience. The place is calm and less crowded, perfect for those who want to relax away from the usual tourist rush. The scenic view of the backwaters meeting the sea is simply amazing, especially during sunset. There’s a lighthouse nearby that adds to the charm, and the bridge over the canal makes for some great photo spots. The beach area is clean and well-maintained, and you can find a few small shops and stalls around for snacks and refreshments. Overall, it’s a great spot for an evening walk, photography, or just to unwind and enjoy nature’s beauty. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in or around Cherthala!
Harigovind R — Google review
This beach is a beautiful and quiet place, far from the crowds. It’s best to visit in the evening for a peaceful walk along the shore. The tides are strong, so swimming is not safe. The beach is not well-maintained, and there are no changing rooms. Parking is also limited. However, it’s still a great spot to enjoy nature and relax.
