Went here a Saturday about a month ago, was busy and had a great atmosphere. The smoothie (strawberry and banana) was tasty but the sausage and egg bap was disappointing. I’m not a fan of floury bread (that’s obviously just a preference) but the sausage felt pretty low quality. Service was good, friendly and helpful so only issue was the quality of the breakfast roll (for £7) Not sure I’d go again unless it’s for a smoothy

Absolutely horrible! As I walked in, I was greeted by an extremely unhelpful and grumpy waitress. I ordered a sausage roll from their display case in the corner and it was not hot throughout, as if it was microwaved. There was no cutlery available at the table and I had to ask for a knife and fork three times. I sat at a booth and the chair was damp. It is incredibly dusty and dirty inside, which I would like to add is ridiculously cramped and small for the amount of tables and chairs they have. The food is okay, but it is quite odd that you have to stand in a line to order your food when there are many available waiters and waitresses. The bubble and squeak is also very overpriced for what you get as there are no sides that come with it. There are many other places you could visit within walking distance. I do not recommend!

A very nice setting with lots of breakfast and snack options combined with a comfy atmosphere. Sadly the "full English", is more like a "half English", the bacon and sausages were pretty standard quality and for the price not really good value for money. (Bubble & Squeak, English breakfast and 2 coffees for £32!!l) We had a nice breakfast, the service was alright but as there are so many options to choose from in town, I think we will try somewhere else next time. If the portions hadn't been so sparing, the coffee was the highest quality blend and had the price reflected an all together unbeatable experience, the review would, in turn, have been more generous too. Sadly we left feeling we had not got what we had paid for.

Start to finish this place is a little gem!.. Staff are lovely and friendly. Tables inside and outside seating. Cosy deco. Mouthwatering toasties! And the rose tea and latte just right! They also have lovely shop with variety of cheese, teas and coffee and much more! Recommend everyone to try this place out. Great for families and young ones!

Thought I would pop in here whilst waiting for a local shop to open. It wasn't too busy only a few customers all already eating and drinking and no one was queuing for service, so thought even though they hadnt acknowledged me coming in, thought they wouldn't take too long to be served. However as i stood looking at the menu for awhile above the counter, the staff were still at the far side of the counter still nothing, so as I saw the shop I needed beginning to open I gave up. Very poor service should at least acknowledge a customer, even if busy, and apologise saying I'll be with you shortly.

Cute little café in a nice area with friendly staff. Not too many vegan food options, the one we had was nice although quite sweet. The hot decaf latte was better than average, only the Iced latte could’ve been a little more aromatic and a little less acidic aftertaste.

Best coffee in Hitchin, this is what they say. And it is. Very flavoured and well served. Hot and tasty. With two small tables outside and big space inside with tables. Good service, clean place and very close to the town centre.

Truly the best coffee in Hitchin! I have lived here for years and always find myself coming back here. High quality products and amazing ingredients, all made with love and the staff are super friendly and caring. The atmosphere is stunning, beautiful design and very peaceful. No idea why more people don’t come here. They are missing out!

By far my favourite coffee (cappuccino) out of anywhere I've been. There are good cake choices for vegans and also Gluten Free options. Nice relaxed cosy atmosphere. Staff always very friendly and welcoming.

Tucked away just off the market square Hitchin Coffee Lab undoubtedly is worth a visit. Welcomed by a very friendly girl who made me a very smooth flat white. They also sell their coffee which is roasted in Hertfordshire.

Recently got into coffee, I wanted to try something different but I wasn't sure what, the Coffee Lab were so helpful and knowledgeable it made buying coffee easy! Also the quality of coffee is incredible! I will be back!!!!

Living in North London has made visiting Hitchin a convenient and enjoyable weekend trip, especially on market days. Every few weeks, we make the journey and like to begin the day with a pit stop at a coffee shop before exploring the market. We've tried several artisanal, organic, and modern coffee shops in the area but, to be honest, we haven't found anything that quite hits the spot. The combination of sourdough, sour coffee, and high prices seems to be a common theme. Sometimes, you just can't beat a good old-fashioned fry-up and a decent cup of coffee. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." We've had breakfast at the same spot a few times now. It's nothing too fancy, but the service is quick, the portions are filling, and the prices are reasonable. We usually order either the Mediterranean or full English breakfast, and they always come out perfectly fine.

came here to buy a meal with my boyfriend and was hoping for good food with a relaxing atmosphere. the food was mediocre, it was cooked well they just didn’t have quality ingredients could tell it was cheap. the worst part was when the owner came in barrading this poor teenage girl for not being quick enough. i could tell she was new and i quite honestly felt bad for her. wouldnt recommend coming here to anyone :(

Usually a decent experience as we've been visiting this place regularly. Unfortunately, the most recent visit resulted in me almost vomiting, having found a really long black hair in my breakfast. Not the garnishing you'd expect, to say the least. It was our last visit, that's for sure.

The food here was good. The service wasn't so great. Our waitress seemed at one point to need an attitude adjustment. She seemed better when we were leaving though...

I ordered a spaghetti and when it came to my table, i asked if i could have parmasan cheese, but i was told they do not have it and was given Cheddar cheese instead. The meal was tasteless and looked more like a soup. It was awful food with a chef who could not careless what she was cooking and serving. Hitchin is a place that has a food festival and here is a restaurant that serves awful food. I urge people to steer clear of this place as there are many many restaurants that do good food, waiters look embarrassed by serving such awful food and have the cheek to ask if the food is ok, i replied honestly that the food was bad and the only thing that was good was the bottle of beer i had. Don't waste your money in this place.

We waited ages for our food—clearly they only had one chef working on a busy Sunday morning, which is just ridiculous for a busy breakfast spot. When the food finally arrived, it was poor quality, bland, and greasy—not worth the wait in the slightest. To make things worse, they completely ignored the extras we specifically asked for with our breakfasts, and the extra drinks we ordered? Never showed up. Honestly shocking how poorly this place is run.

My partner and I were holidaying here from Australia. We walked passed with this restaurant with a good signage outside the food they were serving. So we dine it for our daily breakfast whilst in Hitchin. To our surprise, the food was terrible "Absouletely Terrible". The liver was burned- overcooked like a rubber, the bubble and squeak was gluggy, and the fresh avocado was not even ripe at all....it was hard as cantaloupe. I was being told after it was not ready. Seriously, are you gonna serve something that is not ready to your customer when you knew it beforehand! Terrible! Please do not come and dine to this restaurant at all. Do not be deceived with their signage displayed outside since it was a completely different from the meal we had. What a waste of money, time and experience! Get your so called "Chef" sorted.

What an absolute little gem! I shop at Sainsburys next door to the cafe, and have always thought the smells wafting over were lovely, but never had the opportunity to visit. Well that changed today! Went for a late breakfast with my wife and really couldn't have been more impressed. Polite and friendly staff, great service, fantastic food and a real buzz in the air. My wife had one of the fantastic full breakfasts (so big she couldn't finish it) and I had a ham, cheese and mushroom omelette with all the trimmings, along with a large cup of tea and a bottle of sparkling water - total bill £21.30 which I thought was very reasonable. The turnaround was quick without being too quick, no pressure to get going. We'll definitely be back and hopefully on a very regular basis.

Fantastic local spot, consistently great food, lovely staff, and brilliant value. They are always so accommodating with our toddler too. Easily one of Hitchin’s best cafés!

Great cafe. The family and I go in for breakfast after park run on a Sunday morning. The children love the selection of fruit smoothies, and the food is great.

Ordered food which came over an hour late , looked like it had been sat on , cold and not advisable to reheat so threw it all in the bin . It’s a shame as this is down to Uber eats who couldn’t care less . £30 wasted .

We have breakfast here if we are doing a days gardening or taking a long walk and plan to skip lunch. Staff friendly, service efficient & you get what you expect. If you like real English mustard, the sort like traditional Coleman's which blows the doors off, and gets up your nose, don't bother with this stuff from Harrison's. It's American style, sweet, hot dog mustard.

First visit to Hatters Cafe. Absolutely first class food and service! Friendly, efficient staff. Delicious food and coffee. Definitely returning!

Great choice of breakfast with a create your own option as well ! Jacket potatoes also available same as salads, omelettes and burgers of course . Spanish omelette is delicious and well cooked, with a huge portion as cafes making nowadays, served with chips, salad and coleslaw, yummy ! Jacket also good .Food very very good and quickly made. Not as big inside but additional seatings are upstairs in case as it could get quiet busy ! Quick and kind service also make it a place to visit, apart from a girl taking tea milk jug from one table to another is a bit rude! Good for a stop over and a filling up meal and definitely good value compared to others around.

Just had the traditional breakfast at hatter's cafe 😋, oh my god how delicious was this, good size portion all made with top quality meats ,service was excellent & the welcome was.very friendly , all round a superb experience & will definitely be returning very soon .

Nice place.. friendly staff great service.. However, The prices differs really much. I specifically confirmed that yes that was the same order and the price differ 0.45 pound.. that was not the only one issue I came across. It was 16:30 when I asked the staff to sit outside and they said they cleaned and folded the desks. That’s fair but it’s sunny day and 2 hours before the closing time and that’s the only two table we can sit and enjoy the sunny day outside. I was informed not to sit there cuz they cleaned. I did not enjoy my time really had to leave this place early before even finishing my drink.

Really good coffee thats why i like Starbucks. Friendly staff and great service but sometimes they were getting slow after serving a customer or two because but the staff busy in gossip conversations in front of the customers who are waiting to be served. Location is good so do the atmosphere.

It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Starbucks, coffee is expensive but at least it’s consistent and you know what you’re getting. The service was quite slow but they seemed understaffed and friendly. Once the order was put through it didn’t take long to prepare the coffee. The shop is right in the middle of Hitchin town center overlooking the square. It’s a great spot to stop and people watch. The building is very charming and old, with large glass windows on two sides. Plenty of seating with plugs to charge devices and free wifi.

This branch provides all of the same sandwiches, baguettes, salads, cakes, drinks etc as any other (and at the same high cost) although the two large windows spanning either wall give you a view of the surrounding area and shrubbery which offers a very open and relaxed atmosphere as opposed to the normally much "darker" and enclosed feel. The quality of food, drink, and service is decent considering the level of consistency that is required of these chain cafes.

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price For Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall the price of the food/drinks at any Starbucks is a bit steep. Both for food and drinks. However the quality is very good for both Speed of Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ On this particular visit, the time between placing my order and receiving my food and drinks was okay. Not really fast or slow but I’d personally say a reasonable wait Food Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall quality of my drink was really good. I ordered a Vanilla Frapacinno. It was very well made and very tasty. Not much more I can say! Restaraunt Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No major issues here. It was clean however I did notice that the cake cabinet was very crumby and looked rather bare. AOB- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had no major issues with my visit. The store is very aesthetically pleasing to look at from the outside and within. However if you could inform your baristas to be more delicate with handing drinks as the gentleman practically threw my drink onto the side and in fact it fell over. If it wasn’t for the cream on top of my drink. It would have spilt everywhere.

Either you love Starbucks or you dont. My husband and I both love Starbucks so of course we had to visit the Starbucks on the main square in Hitchin! The baristas were just the friendliest people ever, humoring us with our silly requests, just try asking for half and half in the UK! Our first time there my husband was trying to explain what half and half was and finally agreed to drink his cold brew with whole milk. They have a patio where everyone brings their dogs. We even met a retired teacher that gave us a lift to the train station for our first adventure into London free wi-fi, coffee and friendly people, what's not to love? Starbucks in Hitchin is great place to watch people go by while you enjoy the town square.

Customer service rubbish! whoever is working there today they don’t seem to want to be serving. Rude ! I don’t get one thing you go and pay to relax for 5 mins and you get crap service! Please train your staff with manners before employing them ! So we don’t get service like I did from them today ! Waste of my £19

What a brilliant latest find. We weren’t local but did some work around Hitchin area an decided to have our lunch in Hitchin Kitchen. Brilliant service, AMAZING COFFEE AND FOOD! Great little cafe, tucked behind the market, only know about it now as was taken there by a colleague. Good food, great service, good prices and not too long to wait from order to food. We walked to the cafe, but otherwise not sure on where you can park for a quick grab and go, better to make the time to sit and eat here and enjoy.

These guys are so efficient and nice 👍 they always go above and beyond to make your drink quickly so you don’t miss your train, I’m always impressed

I had a delicious iced oat milk latte made my the lovely Charlotte her customer service was top notch.

The coffee is ALWAYS way too hot. You have to wait a good ten minutes before attempting to drink. They don’t take amex. For a small cappuccino it was over £3. Honestly not worth it.

Always make my journey into work a little bit special. They take the time to get to know what each customer drinks. Great service from the taking of the order to the handing out of the coffee and complimentary biscuit - can't fault them. Definitely worth a visit.

I went for coffee last Saturday morning at my usual time of 9:30am, only to find that the Bancroft shop opening hours had changed to 10:00am without any notice. I frequent Coffee Coffee because it is one of 3 places where you can sit and smoke and enjoy a good cup of coffee in Hitchin. Starbucks is the only other shop where one can drink & smoke. but their coffee is s**t. Please reverse your descision.

Attended a wedding at Offley Place the night before and popped into this Cafe to help my hangover with a full english breakfast. Staff were super friendly and I really enjoyed the stunning views around here too.

I organise a monthly pub walk with a few friends, we switched to AM from lunch due to the heat, so this was the end point of our first morning 8k walk - The Dream Bean Cafe offered very reasonable prices, & fast service. There is massive carpark & overflow (which served as a convenient muster point for us at 8AM - note cafe opens later). At the cafe there is plenty of seating options around (We hid in the shade as hot!). No hassle or aggro to move along. Very pleasant location and vibe both from staff and patrons.

We came here on a group walk for a morning break. What a lovely place with very friendly people. We all had a hot bap to warm up, mine was filled with veggie sausages. All our food was well cooked and delicious. There's a lovely inside seating area with comfy seats.

Delicious food and great atmosphere! We came for lunch and ordered the iced vanilla latte and iced matcha latte as well as the dream bean toastie. Food and drink was delicious and loved the cosy atmosphere in the dining room. Service was amazing, very friendly and speedy service. We also tried some of their tasty home made biscuits. I’d also recommend the patisserie next door and pet store for after! We will be back for the bacon, Brie and cranberry toastie….

Cute place with loads of options! The cakes and sandwiches looked amazing, and my cappuccino was good. However, I was surprised by the overwhelming number of egg dishes on the menu, only to find them disappointingly tasteless. With so many scrambled egg options, you’d expect them to be DELICIOUS, but unfortunately, they missed the mark. The star rating of this place makes sense.

Lovely atmosphere and cute brunch place. Got a matcha and ice latte and it was really nice. The lemon loaf was delicious. Also got a croissant but it wasn’t fresh. Overall good brunch cafe to catch up little dates with friends and family

Lovely experience and great food! I’m generally super fussy about black coffee as it’s not easy to get a decent one around but their coffee is fabulous! Also, their vegan selection is fantastic, with plenty of yummy choices. Definitely recommended, will leave a review on Happy Cow as well!

Busy Saturday afternoon But we managed to find a seated place Coffee was made to perfection, blueberry muffin to die for,yummy cookie ,the rest a bit mehh ,panini had a very dull flavour, or I'd rather say just an average. Toasted parmaham croissant was nothing special ... feels like they serve food for quantity, not quality. Some dishes need improvement. Girls who served us were nice, polite, professional, and helpful Displays looked nice and inviting on a counter Price's not cheap. On a busy afternoon to have only one toilet working is unhygienic, as kids men and lad9es going for the same one. There is no time to clean .... hopefully, the next visit will be much better

I love going to this cafe during my lunch breaks, it's in a very convenient location for me as I work just up the road from here. The staff are always very chatty and friendly and the food is very reasonable and very good quality. I absolutely love the smoothies, milkshakes, wraps and paninis! It is always prepared to a very high standard.

Thought we'd try here for our regular team breakfast. What a great place! Really impressed. Not what we were expecting but we were very impressed and we will be returning. Excellent food. Real meaty sausages for once! Friendly helpful staff. Good value too. Well worth a visit.

I visited this place for the first time and have to say I was not disappointed. This place is small but cute, a small family business it looks like. The bagels are homemade, and everything was made from fresh ingredients. I ordered a plain bagel with bacon, cheese, and egg. This bagel was good. The egg was cooked to perfection, nice and runny. Another bagel I ordered was a plain bagel with turkey bacon and avocado. And omg, probably the best bagel I ever had. So good. Also, I ordered two lattes. They were good but a little milky for my liking. Customer service was good. The lady forgot my order of 2 coffees, so I was offered 2 free cookies as an apology. Can't say no to a freebie for a little mistake. Price-wise, the bagels are good value for money. We will come back for sure because we had come for salt beef bagels, but unfortunately, they were out of salt beef. Spent around £20, which is not bad for 2 bagels and 2 coffees. Overall, we enjoyed our bagels, but we still felt hungry afterward. I feel like they could put more fillings in the bagels; they weren't really filling. Also, one of the bagels was very chewy, maybe a little too chewy.

Finally - I managed to experience this place out yesterday and was NOT disappointed. The turkey, bacon and avocado poppy seed bagel was SO SO SO TASTY. Like nothing I have had sandwich-wise before. In fact, I went back today to try a different one - Chicken and chilli jam which was also delicious and actually packed some spice. Thanks! A friend had the cream cheese and cucumber bagel and was equally impressed and satisfied. I'm going to try to go for the salt beef next but that may need to wait until next week - depending on my own arrangements. They make their own bagels and it certainly shows. They deserve the high praise and this should be high on your lunch time and dinner list.

I used 27 street bagels for a birthday tea! I ordered for collection and they were ready when I went to pick them up! The bagels went down a treat and everyone enjoyed them so much! Thanks so much for the bagels!!!!

Absolutely the best bagel I’ve had in the UK. Salt beef melt was filled with meat and cheese. I would have preferred with a brown, grainy mustard and the pickles could have had more crunch, but still a great bagel.

Turkey slices the size of a discus wedged between the mouth of a fresh golden bagel. Crisp salty bacon lay on a bed of comforting cranberry jam. The vibrant emerald layer of spinach leaves provide a gentle crunch and health conscious satisfaction. Did I mention the homemade sausage stuffing? This was their festive offering, but there's more to warm one's heart in this cafe that no amount of photo's can reflect.

So great! I love these bagels and i don't eat bagels!! I tried my friends and fell in love. So much better than any i had ever tried, owned by the kindest people and great fillings for a good price 👍 Definatly recommend 10/10 I got the turkey and bacon (but ham instead) with avocado, tomato and rocket. They have a great outdoor seating bit that was green and quiet and perfect.

Quickly called in for lunch today, as had to go to Stevenage. Bad choice, we both had loaded chicken flat bread, mine with chicken pesto mayo and salad and my wife’s with chicken tikka and mint mayo and salad. The flat bread was obviously out of a packet and fairly dry and cold. My chicken was obviously again not home cooked and a bit slimy and tasteless,I couldn’t really taste the pesto. I didn’t taste my wife’s which looked better than mine but her comment was “ don’t think we’ll be eating here again” Definitely not worth the £9 plus price tag. Good point though it was dog friendly . Didn’t try the coffee but cake’s looked good.

Very poor visit. Hair in the bread of my sausage sandwich. Returned and was told a fresh one would be prepared. A Fresh one arrived in under a minute. Amazing magic trick. When questioned, I was argued with so I asked for a refund. The colleague cooking/preparing food berated and raised her voice to a poor colleague trying to help me aggressively stating WAIT. I asked for a complete refund and was challenged again and when I questioned the hygiene practices food left on the side not chilled or hot held, food being probed by the same colleague using their unwashed hand to temp check, them carry on preparing food without hand washing. I was glibly told, "We have a 5, hygiene rating." Well done, that was awarded in 2023, 2 years ago, so what does that mean or prove. Awful display of customer service and the other servers where clearly shocked at her behavior one even stating "I, well I won't say anything, leave it at that." All apparently used to her abusive and forceful nature. Poor show. Expensive and lackluster

Decent Cafe staff are friendly and pleasent food is good quality all though can be pricey but what Garden Centre is not now days.
