The Fisherman's Cottage is a charming pub located at the far end of Shanklin Esplanade. It has a thatched roof and is situated so close to the water that you may get your feet wet. Another eatery in Shanklin worth mentioning is The Hideaway, which offers live music from the clifftop path and has a more casual dress code of shorts and flip-flops.
Absolutely wonderful evening here this evening. My husband and I chose to come here to celebrate our anniversary. We chose this after researching restaurants on the island and it was highly recommended. It was such a cute and quaint place to enjoy an evening out. The food was delicious, I had the fish pie and it was so so SO good. Dessert - the chocolate fudge cake was heaven. The service was great, friendly and polite. 100% return and 100% recommend

Was sitting outside for dinner, had the calamari and seafood pasta both was delicious. Service is super friendly and the atmosphere is great. I like the fact that's the kids on the tables that was there got the food first so that's ensure everyone was happy in same time Very thorougful Service!!

Amazing food and service. You really do get what you pay for; large portions, fresh ingredients cooked to order. Staff were welcoming, friendly & helpful, with great patience. Decent toilet facilities (family & pet friendly).
Rachel L — Google review
Right by the beach with both indoor and outdoor seating. Super enjoyable on a sunny afternoon, and there were lots of dogs around (even better!). We had the fish and chips, scampi, and the fisherman’s pie—it’s not the usual creamy version but packed with mashed potatoes, and really delicious.
Yi Y — Google review
We always end up coming back to the Fisherman’s Cottage — the food is consistently great, and the location couldn’t be better. This time we had a huge portion of mussels with ciabatta, some whitebait, and a proper fisherman’s pie — all really tasty and well prepared. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is ideal when the weather’s nice. Inside, it has a cosy, old-school feel that really fits the seaside setting. You’re basically eating right on the beach — can’t beat it.
Stefano P — Google review
Very nice food and great service. Good menu with variety. Staff very helpful. Service was quick, though this was by no means fast food. Both our fish-based dishes were expertly cooked and full of flavour. Atmosphere was a little lacking, but it was late in the season. The restaurant looked a little uninviting from the outside, but the interior was suitably quaint. We would be happy to go back there.
John M — Google review
Very nice food - got a fish pie, one of the best I've ever had! Very reasonably priced. Gets quite busy, so make sure to book a table in advance. Would recommend!

The Crab is a charming thatched pub located in the picturesque Old Village of Shanklin. This dog-friendly venue welcomes four-legged friends with water bowls and a warm atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a meal with family or friends. The menu offers a variety of traditional pub meals, brunch options, and light bites, allowing guests to dine al fresco or soak up the cozy ambiance indoors.
We were served by Kelly. She was very attentive!!. Food was delicious. We ordered fish and chips. Fish was massive! Quiet on Friday early evening beginning of January. Just what we needed. A must stop when visiting the Isle of White.
Mer G — Google review
Had a family get together here. Lovely place to eat. Food hot, delicious and well presented. Plenty of drink and food options available. Really looked after by Kelly and the team. Look forward to returning for food and drink.
Lloyd S — Google review
I wanted to like this pub so much, it's in a beautiful location, and in a lovely old building. The cost of the food is amazingly reasonable, but sadly we were let down by the quality of the meals. The chicken was dry, the vegetables both sparce and un edible. The carrots hard under cooked and the peas, they were rock hard. The lasagne was over cooked. On a plus side, the service was good, as was the staff. Such a pity. Maybe we caught the kitchen on a bad day?
Paul D — Google review
Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and the food was the best. We both really enjoyed our lunch. The Crab is a credit to Green King brand. NOTE: Council parking very close
Barry O — Google review
Busy pub so bit of a wait . Good food patient cheerful staff . Had to laugh at the table next to us they wanted to sit somewhere else but the place was full 😎
Nick N — Google review
Brilliant service and a great pub. I came in with a big table of 10 including kids and dogs and they were really helpful during a fairly busy period too. They went out of their way to make it easier knowing the difficulties of managing a big group. The food was great and came out in good time too. Amazing picturesque location. Dog friendly. Tables outside too at the front and the back and loads of space inside. Many thanks again.
Nicholas C — Google review
Went to The Crab on a Saturday evening. The pub was quite busy so would recommend possibly booking your table in advance as we just found a table in time, before there were no more tables available. The staff were friendly. We had the salt and pepper squid for starters, it was a good portion and quite tasty. We had the beef and ale pie and chicken burger for mains and they were both really nice. Compared to the other restaurants/pubs in the area, this place was really affordable and provided good quality food.
Sasha G — Google review
This has always been a favourite place of ours to eat Sunday lunch. We come 4/5 times a year. The staff are lovely, the place itself is clean and accessible. BUT the food has gone down in quality over the last year. We had a meal that wasn't great last year and just put it down to bad luck. Unfortunately it has gotten worse not better. We booked an earlier slot this time in the hope the food would be better as in theory it would be freshly cooked and not reheated or sitting on a hot plate. Sunday dinner should be served piping hot. It was lukewarm. Some bits such as veg were barley that. The gravy was the hottest part. The veg were not great. The carrots were cold and hadn't been peeled. The peas were poor quality and overcooked. The broccoli was raw. I know many people like it al dente, but this was hard to cut with the cutlery. The cauliflower cheese used to be delicious, served in the little pans and with a crispy cheese top now its bland. Its unheard of in my household for EVERYONE to leave the roast potatoes. They were anemic, dry and rock solid. The meat (beef and turkey) was very dry and just not great quality. Even the amazing Yorkshire puddings were chewy and had been reheated. What has gone wrong? Its such a shame as I would previously have recommended this place to everyone when asked where to go for a great Sunday dinner. I hate posting bad reviews especially for places ive loved. I even double checked by going again but had the same experience and asked others on groups that recommended food for island visitors. I really hope that the food goes back to its previous excellent quality. And that I can change my review. But right now when people cannot afford to waste money on a bad meal an honest review is vital. And before anyone jumps on asking if I told the establishment, yes I did. The staff member simply said "oh thats a shame" when I showed her it was impossible to cut the pie. The photos I've included are from May and July this year. The 2 visits where we gave it another go just in case the first meal was simply a fluke.

The Waterfront Inn in Shanklin, United Kingdom offers simple rooms with free WiFi and stunning sea views. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea and dinner at the guesthouse. Situated near the sandy beach, it's a convenient stop for those exploring Shanklin. The inn also features a sun terrace where guests can relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. Families will appreciate the brilliant kids menu that includes popular options like pizza, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, and spaghetti bolognese.
We didn’t stay here but came for the restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly, even getting us a takeaway box when we couldn’t finish all our food. The pizza was great and they accommodated our topping changes well. The bbq wings weren’t for our taste but were still nice. The Caesar salad was insane and the truffle and Parmesan fries were amazing.
Elliot R — Google review
We ate at The Waterfront Inn during our stay on the Isle of Wight and enjoyed it so much we went back the very next evening! We tried the fried fish platter, calamari, paella, Cajun creamy pasta, and king prawn and chorizo linguine—everything was delicious with generous portions. We shared a lovely cheesecake for dessert and enjoyed some great cocktails too. Both times we sat outside with beautiful sea views. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was a little slower on our second visit, but nothing major. A fantastic spot with tasty food, reasonable prices, and stunning views—highly recommend!

Came here for a drink and enjoy the view. Found only table free outside that had a few dirty dishes on, as we got to it an older man had gone to clean it (his picture is on another review). When asked if we were waiting to sit there he rolled his eyes and flung his arms down. What's the difference between us just arriving and wanting sit there when he was going to clean it himself anyway which needed to be done.... Both me and my partner commented how rude he was and no need for the attitude. When the table was cleaned he bought menus ect back out to us said be with us in a few minutes to take our order. 15 minutes later we were still waiting. Chose to go to bar next door "steamer inn" and got served straight the way with no attitude and enjoyed the view. Was made to feel very unwelcome, do not recommend this venue at all. If your not a people person then don't work in hospitality.
Dan B — Google review
Ate at the restaurant. 12pm middling amount of people. Prices a little steep for whats on offer. Machine prep coffee’s and bog standard pizzas. Excellent service though.
Ms. W — Google review
Popped in here during a mini break in IOW with family and friends. Initially went to a similar establishment next door, and after a very disappointing experience at the place next door, we came to The Waterfront. What a difference it was popping to this restaurant. The staff were all very friendly, pleasant, and courteous. During the 2 days we visited this area, we had popped in for a drink, as well as grabbed some food to take away. Every staff member we encountered had a positive and friendly demeanour, and couldn’t do enough to help and be of service. Would certainly come back here again.
Rob T — Google review
Absolutely shocked after asking for the waterfront inn to make an exception and reserves a table outside due to my son having cancer and being immunocompromised. Despite the fisherman's cottage being exceptional yesterday lunchtime and reserving us a table and keeping others around us free when they do not usually and the next door steamer inn in the the evening on spec also really working to accommodate us, The Waterfront seems to have no heart or morals. They cited being able to make an extra £100 if they didn't reserve us a table. And we're quite argumentative and unpleasant on the phone. The manger mark blamed the owners who he had gone and spoken to. I would love to be able to say what the food at this restaurant is like but unfortunately I can't as their attitude and service stinks.
Catherine C — Google review
On holiday here with my family. Lovely location for this place but thats as good as it gets. We had our tea here during our stay and I have to say the food was awful. Our children had pasta and it was stone cold when it came out. Myself and my husband had dishes including fish and they were horrendous as well as cold. The driest fish I've ever had, pretty certain everything was just nuked in a microwave. One of the seats at our table was a wall seat, and it had the most dirty padded cushion to sit on, covered in black hair. Just gross. Would never go back!
Donna — Google review
We booked last minute, pleasantly surprised to get such a for-value room with nice views and breakfast included in the price. The staff were super friendly, the restaurant is dog-friendly and the food portions are large. Also the breakfast was absolutely ravishing, the fried eggs were the best I have ever had!!

Nice old authentic pub/restaurant. Great food and good portions. Been here 3-4 times and have never been let down.

Worth a visit for the scones and the outdoor back garden. You get 2 generous sized scones with a drink. We went back on our last day to buy some to take home. Very friendly staff and we were pleasantly entertained by all the signs within the pub.

We visited on Monday and it was such a lovely experience that we went again Wednesday. The atmosphere and staff were wonderful and the food was exceptional, we went in the evening and the chef went out of his way when we asked if we could have an afternoon tea. I couldn’t recommend this lovely pub enough

Very good food, reasonably priced. Would recommend the mussels and the ribs - generous portions. Good traditional pub atmosphere. Reservation preferable.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere. Well worth a visit - don’t leave it to the last day of your holiday like we did! After the pie I really wanted to try other dishes!

Love the food here. Always well cooked, service excellent - they went out of their way to cook a special salmon for my Mum different to the menu. We have eaten here several times on several occasions & it’s well priced. Well done Village Inn and look forward to my next visit shortly.
Lyn B — Google review
We had a good welcome despite the bar being very busy with pre theatre bookings and we were a walk in. Food was excellent , mostly home made and great value . They had a well stock traditional bar. Well behaved dogs dotted around and lots of reserved tables which is a good sign. Did not wait too long and food hot.
Sarah W — Google review
Lovely warm welcome, small village pub with a big heart, didn't eat there as it was a quick stop for a drink before the theatre, but the food coming out looked lovely, will definately revisit and eat here in the future, they had sold out of a lot of drinks but this is during the main tourist season so to be expected. We sat out in the beer garden which was lovely.

This place has been our go to for food whilst visiting the island. Every time we ate here we were never disappointed, the food was incredibly good! Always piping hot, and cooked perfectly. We've had breakfast, dinner and tea here so covered all bases. Highly recommend!! The view is an added bonus, beautiful location.

The pub and restaurant are very good, a frequent stop of mine. Located right on the Esplanade with sweeping views of the Shanklin beachfront. Food is always great, drinks are always cold, service is friendly and quick. And I think the prices are very fair considering the generous portions, great flavors, and awesome view.

Really nice place with a good atmosphere. The food was really good. Good portions. That's fish curry was delicious. Hunters chicken was good size. We did not stay in the hotel, we only ate here.

We were on the isle as my partner was on a business trip.. We decided to come here for food and they didnt disappoint.. The food was awesome, good portions and reasonably priced. The staff were very welcoming and dog friendly. We had a fantastic evening and would definitely go there again.

Fantastic in every way. This is one of those establishments who are located in a superb location but they don't rely upon this to make your experience memorable. The food and service is exceptional which are, imo, provided at very reasonable prices. Our meals were presented quickly by friendly attentive staff and were delicious. We'll definitely be returning to enjoy all the above whilst taking in the spectacular views.

Always look forward to a meal at the Steamer and visit every year in September. We’ve been there when it was really busy and when quiet and headed there after being told they don’t take bookings.Arrived at 5:30 to be told they were too busy for 3 of us . Sad times really as only diners seated inside and the guy said we could wait outside but no guarantee of a table…… we went next door to the Waterfront which was really nice thankfully. We wont bother with the Steamer again
Sara E — Google review
Always call in for a meal when we are on IOW . Very pleasant atmosphere and a great view from the balcony. They do an excellent fish chowder which I highly recommend. All meals are good with large portions. Can be pricey but worth it .

Excellent seafood. Piping hot mariner's pie, freshly made and delicious seabass fillet that were tender with yummy umami flavour, sweet fish meats. All were good for a lovely delicate refined dining evening. Thumbs up to the chef and crew that were delightfully warm. Fantastic evening at IOW. Great spot in the old village with a really nice menu. Had an excellent Caesar salad to start and the mariners pie as my main. Really enjoyed both, very tasty and fresh and presented really nicely. Waiter was friendly and the restaurant has a great vibe for a dinner with a couple friends.

Food was simply outstanding, went here for a main and dessert and was blown away. Very friendly staff and highly attentive. We went two times, the first time the food was 5 star amazing and the second was 1 star, we ordered the same starter and there was a big difference even there in terms of serving size. Atmosphere and staff were amazing. First time it took almost 35 mins to get starter after ordering.

Excellent food and service. The food is cooked to order so might take longer than some restaurants but this means it is fresh and just right. Perfect for a leisurely evening out. From reading reviews of other options in Shanklin, Pendletons seems to be head and shoulders above the rest for food quality.

What a little gem of a place! Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Would love for it to be our local this restaurant and if we visit the isle of wight again we would definitely come here again.

We were sceptical about coming here as my Husband was concerned the food might be too hot and spicy! Needn’t have worried as everything is cooked to order so you are in control of the spice level. The service was outstanding, Ollie, John and the other waiter who’s name we failed to get, were just so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back on our next trip to the Island

A quaint homely family run Thai restaurant in the heart of Shanklin Old Village. Came here for dinner yesterday evening with my partner, the prices combined with the amazing quality and variety of dishes was superb. The massaman curry, Thai marinated chicken skewers and the stir fried chicken and prawn fried rice I highly suggest. The service was very fast, warm and attentive as well as being extremely accommodating letting us be able to dine 30 mins before their kitchen closed. I recommend this to anyone looking to have some wonderful freshly cooked Thai cuisine in a lovely relaxing environment!

Vernon Cottage is a charming thatched cafe-restaurant with a cottage garden, offering delightful seafood platters, local pies, and scrumptious homemade strawberry cream tea featuring unique Isle of Wight shaped scones. The tearoom exudes an Alice in Wonderland theme and is known for its traditional afternoon tea. Visitors praise the establishment for its welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and family-friendly environment.
What can I say, excellent food and service in a lovely setting and not over priced like some other places. I had the cream tea, nice pot of tasteful tea and scone with jam and cream, we were very lucky with the weather that day. However there was ample room inside which looked very well presented and friendly staff 😋

Vernon cottage located in the Old Village , Shanklin. Staff were lovely, young lad who served our food was very polite. We had sandwiches that were amazing, lots of filling and plates were full . Delicious. We also had the cream tea, the scone was out of this world. Yummy! The reason for 4* was only due to no dogs allowed inside. I respect that but I like to sit indoors to eat. I thought maybe in future the back end of the restaurant maybe could allow dogs as it’s away from the main area ..

Excellent food. The best scones I have ever had. The carrot cake was very tasty too. The tomato soup was so delicious, I am craving it again while I type this.

It looked like a nice place for lunch and yes it was. The garden was lovely to sit in. Loads of tables and umbrellas to keep the sun off. Lots of cosy seating under the trees. The only criticism is the garden is on a slight slope but im just splitting hairs. Staff were friendly and I would recommend going inside to look at the drinks available on draught. We ordered jacket potato with cheese and beans and a bacon and cheese baguette. A pint of moretti and a j2o. £30.80 all in. The food arrived within 10 minutes and tasted lovely. There was seating indoors if the weather turns nasty but its a lovely tea room. It got busy as we ate and looks very popular.

Had afternoon tea and some lunch. The ladies who worked there were very polite and helpful. Food was lovely scones were soft and fresh. They had a gluten free and vegan options. They were so nice we ordered some takeaway scones too.

Had planned to take my mum to the Old Thatch Teashop but when we arrived it was packed. I asked about sitting in the garden but they offered us a table in the already crowded indoors so we decided to leave. I'm so glad we did, this tearoom was lovely, we sat in the peaceful pretty garden while eating a delicious cream tea. The staff were lovely and the lady who took my order was very helpful, showing me how large the scones were and agreeing that one between us was okay to order. Would definitely recommend visiting here.

The friendly atmosphere and excellent value beverage prices make it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Excellent service and spotlessly clean. Staff are always friendly and it’s great to have a child free drink at a decent price. We also love the log burner in the winter months.

The Spyglass Inn offers casual bay-view apartments with kitchenettes and free Wi-Fi, along with a lively restaurant and bar. It is renowned for its breathtaking views of the Island's south coast, delicious food, live music, and authentic ales. The menu features seasonal specials focusing on locally caught seafood from Ventnor Haven Fishery.
Came here for dinner and it did not disappoint. Great selection on the menu, something for everyone. Friendly staff, quick service. It was busy when we were there and we literally had our food in around 20 minutes. Lots of freshly caught seafood options on the menu, calamari was lovely. Can't comment on rooms as didn't stay in the hotel section.

Perfect location for a drink and something to eat. The pub is old and quirky, with a charm all of its own. There is even a gentleman playing the piano. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of seating inside and out. Tables are cleared efficiently. There is a great selection of food and drink, whatever your taste. We had the crab sandwiches, these were truly delicious. Well presented, freshly made and definitely filled you up. Really wish The Spyglass was nearer, 5 hours each way is a little far for a sandwich! My husband also recommends the Sea Fury beer, a most enjoyable drink he says. We definitely recommend this establishment and will return on our next visit to the island.
Lisa G — Google review
What can be better than an apartment overlooking the sea with a fabulous pub below? We even had our own balcony. The apartment could do with an update but it was comfortable and more than adequate. Breakfast was included in the price but we had fo cook it and there was so much food provided we struggled to get through it.

Had a delicious early dinner here (5pm) for 4 adults and sat outside in the sunshine. Food was delicious, served quickly and reasonably priced. They even let us park our motorbikes outside to keep them safe.

It is very good here. Food is very good and prices reasonable. Just be prepared to queue a while to order food at busier times. Best is to have someone else go to the bar to get drinks in parallel (you don’t generally need to queue for drinks). As long as you know the setup in advance and don’t get caught by surprise then it’s a really good spot.

Called in for lunch yesterday, amazing food crab salad lovely, huge portions. Excellent service and food arrived quick and freshly prepared. Cannot fault it, will definitely be going again this week. Excellent choices of food and beer. Staff extremely friendly and helpful even though they were busy they had time for you which is very rare these days.

Old Thatch Teashop is a charming tearoom located in the old part of Shanklin, Isle of Wight. Housed in a Grade 2 Listed thatched cottage, it offers homemade traditional cakes, clotted cream teas, and a variety of specialty teas and coffees. The tearoom's themed fairy garden adds to its allure, with mature plants providing privacy for patrons enjoying their treats. Visitors can also explore the surrounding area with its picturesque thatched roofed cottages.
First of all , what a fab tea rooms , the best I have seen on the island so far including pubs as well. This little tea rooms has great parking just up the road from the public car park and is situated next to a Christmas shop and next to the Shaklin Chine waterfalls entrance. I and my family were greeted by one of the owners Pat , such a friendly and welcoming greeting , we had a pushchair and due to the nature of the old building it’s not possible at the minute to have a disabled access , but it was only a few steps down and easy with a pushchair . We decided to eat in the wonderful fairy garden that was packet with fairy’s and little cottages. We were seated comfortable with space for the pushchair and the dog . Our menus were brought out quickly and the ladies serving were great with all our children especially our 2 year old son who she was so sweet to. A great selection of afternoon teas, kids menu , jacket potato’s , sandwiches , pancake stacks, toasted tea cakes , coffees , ploughman’s , soup , cakes and Quiches . All looked delicious and almost everything is hand made. We choose prawn salad , I had a jacket with cheese and beans and was please it came hot ( a lot places I eat it is luke warm). Tina mayo sandwiches , cappuccino and j had a massive frothy milkshake with cream and fairy sprinkles . The atmosphere in the garden is magical and we felt well looked after, the food came quickly and was delicious , I took our 2 year old son around the garden and found some trees with memorial hearts on them with messages of missing lives ones that had passed . I checked with one of the owners about whether I could do a memorial myself as it was our sons anniversary of this and she said we could and it was £4 donation to a children’s charity in memorial of a little girls who had died from cancer , I thought was fitting and she reassured me that the memorials would always be there even if the weather damaged them they would fix them and put them back up , this was so nice of her . This place has such a nice feeling and the staff are so friendly , child and dog friendly , I would defiantly recommend booking here , it was so friendly and love owners who love there work and do over and beyond to make sure you have a great meal/ afternoon tea. 5 star definitely a must visit if you come to Shanklin

Amazing cream tea with the most delicious buttery scones. Service was amazing, everyone was so lovely and kind and they had the cutest little chihuahua. The staff were very accommodating as we arrived only 10 minutes before close but they were very friendly and let us stay half an hour after close so we had enough time to eat and look around at the stunning interiors, including a beautiful wall of paper butterflies to show how much money they had raised for charity. They also had a lovely fairy garden with amazing fairy statues and fountain. Overall 11/10 experience I wish I could give it more than 5 stars because it really deserves it.
Elliot R — Google review
A wonderful gem in the heart of Shanklin's old village. The rooms are beautifully themed and decorated with thoughtful touches. The outdoor, mad hatter's themed garden is a real joy to explore and is a lovely, quirky addition to the indoor tea room. The staff are friendly and accommodated our deviations from the menu. I would recommend booking as this is a popular attraction for tourists and locals. The menu offered a fantastic range with milk alternatives included. The scones were freshly baked and were served still slightly warm. A quintessential, English afternoon tea for all to enjoy.

With ample parking available, this local gem provides a welcoming atmosphere for families to enjoy tasty meals together. The pub offers a relaxed ambiance with high-quality decor and furniture.
What a beautiful find this was in our way to Sandown..... We stopped by here on a chilly Tuesday morning, we were welcomed by a lovely woman man who showed us to the table and gave us the menu. The menu is excellent and has something for everyone, we used the disabled toilets as my husband is in a wheelchair they were extremely clean and had some lovely soap and hand lotion in. We ordered our food and after a short while it arrived the steak was delicious and perfectly cooked and everything was perfect with our meal and our drinks. The staff were very happy and very helpful. The car park is free and large. Dogs are welcome too! Would definitely recommend to everyone!

I was really impressed! Good choice on the menu and the food we chose was amazing!! Ample seating for all. And lots of outside seating, in the sun or shade. The facilities were clean and impressive! Nothing worse than run down, dirty loos... Lovely decor and nice touches of hand soap and cream! Could do with a more powerful/energy efficient hand drier though 😊 The service was great and the girl who served us both food and drinks was lovely and friendly. Will definitely recommend and return in the future!

My husband and I visited last night specifically to try Tom Shepherd's 'best ever pub pie', plus we had a voucher for 30% off main meals (posh pie and a good discount - what's not to love?!). We thoroughly enjoyed the meal (jury's still out on whether or not it was the best pub pie we've ever had!), although we would both have liked more gravy with it. We would have asked for some more, however our waitress, whilst very friendly and smiley, never came back to our table after serving our meals. She should have returned shortly after serving us to enquire if everything was okay (the pub wasn't busy, so not run off her feet). I did also have to keep my jacket on, as the pub was cold. We did enjoy the meal and our experience enough to recommend it to our friends. We will be back.

Suzy A — Google review
We came today as a family of 4. We were greeted to two signs one of which said the kitchen was closed between 3.30 & 4.30 (our table was booked for 3, so what if we wanted desserts?) and another saying that they were having fryer issues so were unable to cook part of their menu. They had only been serving roast dinners for 3 hours but had already run out of two out of 3 meats? There was no stuffing, no crackling (on the pork roast) no red cabbage on any of the plates and 1 tiny bit of carrot when it states ‘carrots’ on the menu with the smallest amount of green veg. Overall it was £58 (on 2 adult roasts 1 child roast & 1 child fish goujons - which were actually cheap fish fingers) wasted in our opinion. The ‘roast’ potatoes that were meant to be garlic & herb were in fact bland with no flavour atall; they were pale like they’d been boiled & maybe deep fried for that extra texture. The Yorkshire puddings were homemade (I think) but they were very thick/batter-like It wasn’t busy there was maybe 2 other tables in the whole restaurant, okay it’s half term but they should be aware and cater for more. We had this booked so they should have made sure they have enough food to cover all bookings, or am I wrong here? The meat was nice & the gravy was really nice but apart from that it’s a no from us.
Danielle L — Google review
Nice & clean. Took a few mins to get greeted. Given choice of table. Good menu. Lady behind the bar was not nearly as friendly as she should be - in that setting. Took over an hour to get our food, which was good, but a portion of the my lamb & pie was missing an ingredient, the pie. The food was well prepared & tasty - We would have had coffee & dessert, but after the mains taking over an hour we decided against it, paid & left. I did tell the somewhat grumpy looking person behind the bar, she shrugged & said ‘well we’re a bit busy’ - which they weren’t - I worked in the restaurant business for 20 years, it wasn’t busy at all & that is also not an acceptable excuse for slow service. The 40% off coupon was what prompted us to visit, but mediocre service stops us from returning. Your staff can do better, train them properly in customer service & friendliness.
Rebecca B — Google review
Came here with my family for a meal whilst on holiday. I had the beer battered fish and chunky chips. Compliments to the chef, this was the most delicious battered fish that I have ever had. The family ordered various dishes from the menu and we were all delighted with our meals. There was plenty of room for us as there were 10 of us plus Dash our assistance dog (who had many treats too) so we were all taken care of. We also had a wheelchair user with us and they had no problem with accessibility. The staff were super friendly and the prices were reasonable for the meals. I would definitely come here again. 🙂

Benjamin's Bar and Bistro is a family-friendly establishment that offers a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Italian, British, and other dishes, many of which feature locally sourced fish. While some customers expressed disappointment with the limited wine options and lack of music to enhance the ambiance, overall it was considered a decent dining choice. The restaurant provides excellent food and beverages at affordable prices, serving hearty breakfasts, classic lunchtime meals, and adding an element of sophistication to the evening dining experience.
Booked for anniversary, really didn't need to book as it wasn't busy but not sure why! Food was great and nice cocktails along with really friendly staff. Definitely don't understand why this place isn't busier but really enjoyed it none the less. Maybe some deals on the cocktails would attract people as can get a bit expensive at £8-9 a go as we would of loved to of kept drinking. Would recommend!

Came here in a Saturday night and couldn't fault it! The staff were all really friendly and the right amount of attentive. The garlic bread was the best I've ever had, 10/10 would recommend. Between us we had the vegetarian risotto, the steak, and the Ventor line caught hake; all of which were lovely. All of our desserts were perfect as well! Not the cheapest restaurant you'll find, but the food and service justifies the price.

We booked well in advance, believing it would be truly busy. Clocks having gone forward, lighter evenings, and it's Shanklin Town Centre location, making it an easy find for locals and visitors alike. For a restaurant, full the last time we visited, we were shocked to find we were the only booked table on a Thursday evening. Rather than cancelling us and remaining closed, saving on all their staffing costs and utilities they opened to provide for us and we weren't disappointed. Cocktails, a Starter and a Main each, all good sized portions with a lovely host. We were egging the few people that passed by our window to enter and experience the same lovely food we were enjoying. Post Lockdown. in this tough climate, myself and my partner had a lovely date night here and would recommend you try it for yourselves.

Food is generally good, except the prawns in the cold seafood platter were filled with gut, they actually smelled and tasted quite bad as well as gritty. Absolutely loved it here. We saw the sign for it in the footpath and were intrigued. We stopped in a drink, and sat outside to take in the amazing views. Very busy inside when we went on a Saturday evening. We were hungry so opted to sit at one of the outside tables. The waitress couldn't have been more helpful bringing cushions and offering blankets. The food - slow cooked pork belly was very tasty and tender and there was plenty of it. It was simple food done well and we were too full to try a dessert - maybe next time.

This is one of our go-to pubs. On a hot summer's day, looking over the cliff top with a refreshing drink in hand is a great way to while away the time. The views are amazing (can see the main land). Customers rave about the high-quality, tasty food at great prices, including lovely homemade cakes, pastries, and sandwiches made fresh in front of you. The cafe also provides fast and friendly service with ample parking available.
We came across this shop on the lookout for and wernt disappointed. So many options, we opted for baguettes with meat, gravy and cranberry. It was absolutely delicious and so fairly priced. If we were on the island for longer we’d definitely be going back.

Worst baguette I've ever purchased, won't be returning, stated on billboard hot egg and bacon baguette, the bacon was chewy and tasteless and the egg was raw in places because microwaved. I paid £4.30 for it and had the throw it away, if I hadn't of driven a fair way before eating it I would of asked for my money back.. awful 😞
Conan S — Google review
Went in the other day and ordered our usual Brie and bacon and very disappointed, hardly any Brie in baguette just dry bacon. Second time it’s happened now with man serving. Portions so small obviously trying to save money so won’t be going back, prices gone up and portions going down. last time they forgot something off order when only ordered 3 items. Shame as previous owners were absolutely brilliant and it was our favourite baguette shop in shanklin. Few ppl I’ve spoken to have said same.

Always get my salads and sandwich's here. Everything excellent

Lovely small deli with a wide range of exciting choice. Very polite and welcoming and extremely helpful, partner has a dairy allergy and they went above and beyond to show everything she ordered had no dairy in at all. Food is a good price, high quality and very tasty. The only upsetting this about this place is that I don't live next door to it!!

Was recommended this place by a friend who said the meal deals were excellent for good money what a cropper i was with 3 meal deals both 3 of them had snacks and cans of fizzy including with the deal. £15 later for them 3 which shocked me and my follow friends on the prices so won't be going to this place any time soon. Had cold pasta with my sweet chilli chicken meal. Very poor of a food service which got it's 1 star of a poor service no apologies from the owners.

Love this place, always something going on, friendly staff, good atmosphere, restaurant, and no trouble. This is not your standard members club this isbup there with one of the best in the country

Best club of its kind on the island and one I visit at least a couple of times a week (mainly to have a quiet read and a beer or two). Live music on Fridays and Saturdays, of the gentler kind, with lots of Sixties and Seventies stuff. Not really my 'bag' but I do go occasionally. A great place to watch sport on television and, if you are a snooker player, there are two snooker tables. Annual membership is good value and you can pay a weekly fee if you are just on the island for a holiday. Food in the restaurant is very good value too, however, you need to book in advance, so keep this in mind.

Fabulous dining experience here yesterday …. I had the fish choice … fish cooked to perfection and the mushy peas were amazing …. Wonderful service from the restaurant manager … I believe her name was Susan !!!! Will definitely be returning and recommending to others … Well Done Guys 👏👏

Really amazed at this place. £2 membership for the week gave you access to the cheapest beer in Shanklin, access to the snooker tables and the ability to watch sport on the huge projector. First port of call when I come back next year!

Pub
Nestled in the heart of Shanklin, King Harry's Bar is a charming pub that pays homage to the iconic Henry VIII with its Tudor-style decor. This delightful establishment transports visitors back in time, offering an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of traditional inns before modern conveniences took over. With a vibrant social calendar filled with live music, quizzes, and charity events, there's always something happening at King Harry's.
Great little bar, really friendly and even the everyday locals were just so polite. There happened to be some live music there when we went in and it turned out to be one of the best nights on the isle of Wight. Music was excellent. Im sad i cant follow the band on Instagram they were so amazing. Pub itself was super clean and comfortable. Just all around lovely way to spend easter weekend. ❤️❤️

The perfect British pub, good selection of beers and ale all kept well. Quirky venue with the most beautiful garden, great landlord very friendly and welcoming with quality sense of humour. A real highlight live music at the weekend. Saturday night was brilliant the place was rocking with a band in their castle room. Not to be missed if you visit Shanklin
Sarah C — Google review
Even though we didn't try there Food, the Pub within the Hotel has an Amazing Vibe with a Castle Themed Function room.. It has a nice selection of Beers available, both local and well known Comercial Largers/Beers. I Cant wait to return here when I come back to the Village of Shanklin. (Pointer) - A dedicated Craft Beer Cans Fridge would be a lovely edition and boost a already great selection they have... 🍺

Visited the Old Village last night for a bite to eat and few drinks with a friend. Our plan was to eat in the Village Inn, followed by a few drinks in King Harry's Bar, so rightly or wrongly we thought we could park in their empty car park - clearly not after having an aggressive note stuck on the windscreen of my car!
Paul H — Google review
Quirky pub with great bands. Drinks are very reasonably priced. An absolute gem and well worth a visit.
Rob K — Google review
Loads of beers inside and outside nice seating area with trees and a walkway through the grass
Mark E — Google review
Quirky place, fully of character with some amazing little nooks and crannies and a nice garden out back. I popped in for an ale and ended up having two pints of Woodforde's Great Eastern because it was so tasty. They regularly rotate their ales and the barman was knowledgeable about the beers as well as being an entertaining guy to chat to. A class above The Crab and it's boring Greene King beers.
Cheese X — Google review
New young landlord with a good knowledge of real Ale. Beers always in good condition. Music nights. Garden.

I allways enjoy my visits here. Everyone makes you welcome and they all seem to know how to enjoy themselves. Worth buying a membership.
Christine S — Google review
It's a social club... Furnishings old and out dated but I love that 🤣 there is always a character in these places. Lisa was very busy behind the bar, we were there for a party and she also had her regular customers... The facilities are good. Nice to see the memorabilia on display. The outside looks welcoming for summer days... Was only there for a couple of hours and didn't see the whole building...
