There are 3 types of loaf pans: 3斤, 2斤, and mountain shaped. 3斤 is the softest, 2斤 is more chewy, and mountain shaped has the crispy shell. Pelican also has those little ones in bag, which all share same texture. In terms of taste, there’s no different. So, here’s my way to toast the 3斤 loaf bread. Instead of slicing it nicely with bread knife, tear it with hand in large pieces. Then toast it for 2 minutes. Edges will be slightly cured, depend on sizes. Because of the high density, after toasting, the mix texture of chewy and crispy is just beautiful.

It's a great bakery shop cafe with great value for money breakfast foods. Prepare for a queue but otherwise a great spot for breakfast.

In comparision with ordinary "sakura-mochi," this shop is a bit expensive but it has tradition and tasteful. Sakura-mochi is red beans' sweet in rice cake wrapped with leaves of sakura, cherry blossom. The sophisticated sweetness and fragrance from the leaves of cherry blossom are ones of something I love in Tokyo. Some people eat the wrapping leaves and some people don't.

Menu - only two sets, one with the strawberry risotto Appetiser - the blueberry cheesecake is nothing special Strawberry risotto - glad that we only ordered one set with this. I think this is a bit weird as the taste of the risotto is seperated from the strawberry. Just imagine you eat a risotto cooked in cream and the risotto is a little bit salty but with cooked fresh strawberry….. 浮島 - Mon blac in matcha sauce; only the matcha sauce is good; the mon blanc is super sweet with red bean paste inside and no hint of chestnut…. Pistachio crème brûlée - too sweet but there is pistachio taste the caramel layer is made by white sugar and is not burnt well. Conclusion - don’t waste your quota when you are in tokyo

First visited a Toshi Yoroizuka store many years ago at Midtown during Christmas and remembered being impressed with their baked goods but not so much about the cakes. I happened to pass by this outlet and decided to get some souvenirs to bring back home. Got the signature box of 5 baked goods which were as expected since I had tried them before. The kiwi-lime jam did seem like an unusual combination so I thought it might make a good gift idea without being too sweet on the palate. As for the sakura cake, it looked pretty just like the other cakes on display but the taste was passable. What bothered me was how slow the packing and settlement process took. Granted that I visited in the early evening of a weekday and there was nobody else doing a takeaway, I really wondered why it took that long especially since there was only one cake to be placed inside the box, wrap up a single bottle of jam and the box needed no additional packing to be done. I can only imagine how long it would take when the store is busy.

A store on the first floor with good access from the station. The store is also spacious and you can eat in. Sweets for gifts are also stylishly packaged and can be given to men and women of all ages. This time I bought a sable, and it was crispy and delicious without being too sweet.

A nice, cozy pastry salon that serves a great selection of pastries and the prices are also quite reasonable. The coffee menu is not extensive but the available options are still decent. After placing your order you can only sit around for 90 minutes which seems fair, so we ordered another round of coffee as we were having a really great time there. Worth a visit if you wish to try out some nice pastries that are created by one of the most famous pastry chefs in Japan.

Nice bakery near Tokyo station by the Nihonbashi shopping area. They got all sorts of cakes and bread and lunch menu available. Seatings are available outdoor and indoors. It’s nice to sit outside and have a tea and cake to rest a bit. Cakes change seasonally as well. It’s popular spot so there are often 2-3 people in line but not too bad. Overall, nice chill spot.

Calm quiet spot with lovely indoor and outdoor seating. The pizza is in the floppy Neapolitan style one sees all over Tokyo. The sauce was very good and so is the dough. There is a lunch set where you get curry rice, soup, flavored breads and a variety of infused teas buffet style. I wish I’d ordered the seafood pasta (it smelled amazing) but I had a good lunch here.

Pizza was mediocre. It does not worth the price for sure. I have had much cheaper pizza with more taste in the city. Matcha tart was good. Some of the staff was okay, while other not so great. We Ve ordered one pizza with lunch (which allows you to refill) and we Ve thought is per table/ order. Instead, you have to order 2 lunch refills for each person. When I Ve tried to take a soup, the staff came and told me that we Ve only ordered one lunch menu (my bf already took some soup). So I Ve put the bowl down and left. We did not see explicitly that this is per person, so we Ve thought it s per order/ table. To be honest, I found the attitude pretty cheap. It s like they are counting persons and who eats what and how many portions. Ofc we would have paid from the beginning for 2 menus if that was clearly, especially after such an expensive pizza 😄 Staff does not speak English very well so for a coffee we ve waited too much. The ambiance is nice on a sunny day.

Such a lovely place but can be a bit cold in early spring ー your hot coffee would just last for 2 mins lol. Loved the overall vibe of the place and you can def relax and chill with friends here. For food, we had some salad, carbonara, penne arrabbiata, some pizza, steak, and the angel cake for dessert. Arrabbiata was a bit too sour for our taste but loved the carbonara very much!

A lovely spot, although it's nearly underneath the highway! Just take a walk along the river and you will come to it, but it's rather unassuming, so be alert. Once I got inside, the women who were serving greeted me warmly and took great care of me, explaining the available set, then bringing the tasty dango and a cup of tea. The atmosphere, service and food made for a delightful visit. Step away from the crowds and into this traditional spot...

Really spacious cafe with great vegan food. We arrived later than lunch after 2pm, so we had the curry which was pretty good. The dessert pudding was amazing!

Total score would be a 4.5. What you eat and what you pay for comes for a very good price. I am highly lactose intolerant so places like this are heaven for me. Everything tasted really good and comes in nice abundant portions. For parents: they do have high chairs and the dining room is spacious and there's enough room between tables for your toddlers to chill.

The Tempeh Katsu curry was divine! Comes with brown rice and salad, plus organic coffee. Free flavored water is great too.

A really spacious cafe with a terrace area that is dog friendly! A wonderfully healthy menu to choose from - there's a little something for everybody! The Hummus Sandwich had lots of flavour and was surprisingly filling. Same with the Breaded & Fried Tempeh with Rice! I've tried a lot of plant based dishes that really lacked flavour, but this cafe was different! Highly recommend for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian foodies alike! The interior was a bit humid/hot. That was my only complaint from my visit. But I got used to it after a while. Can't wait to go back and try their desserts!

After a lovely stroll through Oyoko Waterside Park, my mom and I enjoyed a delightful vegan meal at Sasaya Cafe. There are two areas for dining: the sun deck and main room. We chose the latter in favor of air conditioning~Although their food menu is limited, their meal sets are absolute and fulfilling! Asides from their standard menu, they offer a specialized day meal set—I had their curry which was divine! While we sat and chatted, 40s jazz music played serenely in the background. All in all, Sasaya Cafe is a perfect place for dining!

We have passed by this shop many times over our last trip staying in Ueno but did not have a chance to try their desserts as we were either too late, too early, or too full. Made it a point to visit and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their desserts and the service the staff provided. The matcha shaved ice was to the point, and please remember to mix it well cos the syrup is right under ice. A perfect after dinner treat and will definitely come again next time I'm in Ueno.

The houjicha (roasted green tea) was the best of the best… not too sweet and very rich flavour. It was a hidden gem of this shop.

We took a break at this Japanese dessert shop for a while. The staff working were very nice oba-sans. We were served plain water and hot tea as soon as we were seated. My daughter had the fruit anmitsu, made up of seasonal fruits while I had the shiratama anmitsu. Hubby had the kakigori with strawberry syrup and apricot topping, and my son had the soft cream ice cream. Overall the desserts were refreshingly cold and divinely sweet. The anmitsu were served in cute porcelain bowls that were just perfect for it

We came in at 8.30pm for the last order but the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Did not remember what were ordered but they have an English menu for foreigners. The red bean paste were so smooth and unlike other red bean elsewhere. Highly recommend coming here for dessert!

It is a dessert shop with 2 floors and a wide variety of desserts to choose from.I came with 2 friends and ordered 2 sets, the first set was green tea ice cream and the other was sakura ice cream which is only available in season.The atmosphere is nice and quiet, decorated in an old Japanese style.On our Facebook, we have both warabi mochi and red bean, which are all delicious.

Top notch gluten free cake place. The cake is melting in your mouth. The price was alright and the lady at the counter was beyond kind. We paid by card and were even able to purchase a close-to-expiration date pumpkin cake which was reduced with ¥100.

Gluten free chiffon cakes! This is a place I was planning to check out for a while, and then suddenly a dear friend of mine gifted me these two (pumpkin and coffee favours) and it really made my day. I guess even a little present can turn a stressful week into good memories. The chiffon cakes are extremely soft and they almost melt in your mouth, but the taste is pretty delicate!

As someone with celiac’s, it’s amazing when you can find a place that has such delicious treats that are gluten free! We stopped here after visiting Senso-ji temple. The shop is small and very cute. The staff was super friendly. And the cake was so soft and perfectly subtly sweet. We added the whipped cream which made this a heavenly food experience that I’ll be thinking about for a long time. This is the best bake shop I’ve ever been to. I went here months ago and here I am still thinking about it. I got a slice of earl grey cake, coffee cake, and pumpkin cake. They were all incredible, but the earl grey was my favorite. Counting down the days until I can come back! This place deserves so much business!!! The lady that helped us was very nice too. One of my favorite places in Tokyo!!!

Shrimps and asparagus in a lemon creamy sauce with spaghetti was delicious as was the crepes ( cooked to perfection) with strawberries and cream washed down with a super dry Asahi. Maitre de at the door understood my English and I ordered on the App. I didn’t have long to wait and dishes were cleared away as soon as I was finished. Place is busy with couples, friends and families as it’s Sunday afternoon but everyone seems happy. Nice music playing and there’s a selection of reading material near the entrance. There are plastic bins under the table for you to put your bags or shopping in.

However, I would have liked a little more meat on the pizza. I also loved the buffet idea and an interesting selection of salads that I did not know like that from Austria. Went to this popular cafe, which was once recommended by TimeOut, with my friends for breakfast. . I got Pudding and Layered Cafe Au Lait. The bouncy pudding was covered in caramel sauce, elevating its bittersweet taste. As for my Cafe Au Lait, it was Iced Coffee with Sweet Milk. It had a smoky and robust flavour, with a layer of cream at the bottom creating a creamy texture. One of my friends ordered Houji Tea Chocolate Cake and Hot Vienna Coffee. The chocolate cake had a fragrant houji tea aroma and a firm, rich texture without being overly heavy. However, the chocolate flavor seemed to overshadow the houji tea flavor. Another had Peach & Pear Shortcake and Hot Earl Grey Tea. The shortcake was expertly layered with cream, sponge cake, peach, and pear. The refreshing flavors of the peach and pear complemented the cream subtly, making a delightful combination. . When we arrived at the cafe, there was a queue, indicating its popularity. The cafe had a spacious layout and was adorned with numerous vintage items, creating a charming ambiance. The shelves filled with books added to the overall bookish atmosphere, allowing customers to enjoy the tranquility of the cafe.

There is an almond in the middle of their lemon tart and you can taste roasted almond bits in their pie crust, which I’m not a fan of. Makes it a bit too sweet. Also they give starbucks level of ice for their cold beverages and too less liquid. However, the atmosphere here amazing with a great collection of magazine. Really hope they can work on their food and beverages but definitely will come again to study / work.

I think the coffee is pretty good, and they have a huge selection of gorgeous teacups they use to serve their hot drinks. (The desserts are always nice, too.) From afar is pretty big inside, so if you go on a weekday there are lots of seating choices, but beware! On weekends it gets so busy that people line up in front!

Spacious & stylish cafe tucked away in the corner of Kurumae / Asakusa. First off, the ambience and quality of service was impressive - the staff were attentive and all smiles! The furniture is comfy too which makes it easy to while away time reading a book or otherwise. If design is your thing, there’s a large variety of magazines & books available to read for free. The espresso was pretty nice with a rich, deep flavour. Couldn’t ask for more. There’s also a florist in the cafe if you fancy buying flowers for the journey back home. The sweets & snacks also look worth trying to perhaps that will be on the menu for the next visit!

Totally obsessed with Kappabashi Street. Every corner has something fun to look at. All shelves full of ceramics, endless kitchen tools, baking moulds, chopstick holders, food displays, everything you didn’t know you needed. I kept thinking I’d only browse for a bit, but I ended up wandering from shop to shop because there’s just so much variety and every store feels different. It’s the kind of place where you lose track of time without even realizing it. Honestly one of my favourite stops this trip, and I’d come back again in a heartbeat

Great street to walk by, especially for your kitchen. They sell every possible thing that you would need. From pots and pans to very sharp and beautiful knives. I got a set and the hospitality is very nice to from many trying to sell you things. The building having cool designs such as teacups and a big chef was pretty awesome too. Highly recommend their rabbit candy making workshop. We were the only tourists in the session but they had English instructions. Book ahead if you can, but we got lucky with a walk in for their 1.30-3.30pm Saturday session.

If you like art projects and are in Tokyo, taking a sugar rabbit-making class should be on your list. We were warned that the class would be in Japanese (which was fine; I used the Google Translate app to get a live transcript and it works well — and my spouse speaks Japanese). More important: There are helpful videos at the beginning that are captioned in English, and the instructor’s English was clear and he was clearly experienced in working with people from all around the world. You might get a great rabbit out of it (you get to make two practice bunnies and one final version to take away) or you might just have a terrific, hilarious time and learn about a new art. Note that the classes are only in Asakusa; their main shop is in Ginza, I think, but you can buy a selection of professionally made, jaw-dropping candies at the Asakusa store.

Awesome workshop! More you try - more you understand how hard and complex are things displayed in the hall. I had a lot of fun trying to make not-so-monstorous rabbit, my final result could rival Monty Python's by oozed bloodlust, but at least it looked somewhat similar to model rabbit. Probably next time in Japan I'll visit store and workshop again and tell my friends try it too.

This is an amazing shop combining art and sweets. Every item is hand crafted from sugar, from the deceiving simple lollipops to the more intricate fish, dragons, octopi 🐙 and other fascinating sculptures. Highly recommend making a detour here.

I loved my workshop experience at Ameshin! There were instructions written in English and the instructor was able to communicate instructions well. I loved the little bunny I made in the class and the process really made me appreciate the skill and experience that goes into making the pieces they sell in the shop. You get a practice round with some brown sugar and then the actual attempt with white sugar. The sugar is definitely very warm and would burn if you hold onto it too long but not dangerous as long as you’re careful. A deluxe box upgrade is available for a small fee which I would recommend if you want your piece to make it back home safely. I dropped my box twice and my bunny remained intact. My class was just me and 6 middle schools students who made absolutely adorable pieces. The location of the workshop is also really nice because it’s very close to the Senso-Ji temple in Akasuka. I would 100% recommend this workshop and do it again!

I've done the build your own candy bunny workshop and it was so much fun. Totally recommend. The staff does not speak English but the language was not a barrier (there were instructions in English).
