This company had many locations in Otaru. I have to say their cheese cake (Camembert) and custard were amazing but can work on their coffee. Over all Otaru coffee place was not as good as Sapporo. In any case, people should try their cheese cake and custard in the little glass cup.

LeTAO’s main store is one of Otaru’s most famous sweet spots. The ground floor is filled with cakes and souvenirs, while the second floor café serves their world-famous Double Fromage cheesecake with tea in a cozy space. There’s even an observation deck with views of the town. The café is very popular, so expect a long queue, especially on weekends. Good news for travelers, the store is foreign-friendly, and some staff speak English, Chinese and Thai making it easy to order and enjoy. A must-visit for dessert lovers.

The main store is really big and you can try different desserts. Unfortunately the cafe upstairs was mostly sold out. We bought a full cheesecake from the shop but it was frozen so we couldn’t enjoy it in the moment. They had some good samples and they also sell ice cream.

A place filled with warmth, sweet and cream aroma! Cafe in the 2nd floor is always full, offers cake and drink set. We ordered a 3 cake set, Strawberry, chestnut and grape cream cakes, silky and flavorful. Regretted ordering Americano, which was too watery. Should have ordered its aromatic tea. The portions are quite small, if you are expecting a Americano Starbucks size, order triple!

The taste was pretty average considering its reputation. It wasn’t bad, but I honestly don’t understand why this place is so popular. It’s definitely not worth waiting in a long line for — both the desserts and the coffee were just okay.

My family and I as first time foreign tourists in Otaru were excited to visit the LeTAO here as it originated from Otaru. So, we decided to have some of its desserts at its cafe that's located on the upper level of the store here. While we had to wait for our turn to be seated, it was well worth the wait as the desserts were not only pretty but also pretty yummy. Service here was friendly and attentive. The dining ambience was okay and could have been better if the air-conditioning here was cooler to cope with the dining crowd and warmish weather.

I decided to try all three types of cream puffs: A: The shell is like steamed buns, very heavy and overwhelming to eat. B: Slightly less heavy, but there’s still too much cream. C: The thinnest shell, similar to the usual cream puffs (this one is the best choice). The common feature of these three types is the excessive amount of cream, making them overly rich. They lack the balance of flavors found in regular cream puffs.

I ordered their signature cream puff, which was about the size of my fist. The pastry shell was flavorful — probably thanks to proper dough fermentation — and the cream inside was rich, sweet, and delicious. Overall, the quality of the desserts here seemed quite good, so I ended up buying several as souvenirs to share with friends back home.

Cream puff was heavenly 😍 I bought the B version which had a huge ball of thick fresh cream with a thin custard cream base. The colossal amount of fresh cream reminds me so fondly of the Maritozzi I had in Turin, Italy, which was equally heavenly!!!

It’s such a beautiful place! I visited in mid-October, right in the middle of autumn. The gardens were decorated with colorful flowers in full bloom, and the weather was just perfect. If you don’t plan to visit any of the special exhibition rooms, there’s no entrance fee — just strolling around, taking photos of the rose garden, fountains, and stunning architecture already makes the trip worth it. You only need to pay a small parking fee, which isn’t expensive at all. When you get tired from walking, there are also tasty food and drinks available to enjoy.

Wow, what a fun place! And it only gets better if you love chocolate. The open area is already so lovely, well kept, and enjoyable even without having to pay for admission into the park proper. But it's well worth it to pay the small admission price to see the chocolate museum and factory inside! I enjoyed the "time travel" presentation, and the Halloween theme during our visit. It's such an enjoyable visit that should last at least a few hours Pro tip: watch the clock tower at the top of every hour!

For a chocolate factory there are 2 products both are covered in so much biscuit you'd be surprised this isn't a biscuit factory. The story is cute and the garden is lovely, the garden is accessible for free and so is the shop and some lovely areas. Having been to bournville in the UK when it was UK owned and again when US Kraft owned it it's going a bit rubbish but is still about 100x more entertaining than this place. Recommended for if you like some superficial nonsense for your overpriced products. But if like me you were hoping to get some chocolate from a chocolate factory give it a swerve. Or just enjoy the English sort of aesthetic of the place and the garden but know the smell of chocolate will leave you deeply disappointed and needing to visit a shop for a proper chocolate experience

A wonderland that is both interesting and romantic. The ticket is 800 yen for adults, tourists can get access to the main building by the ticket. The main building, mostly telling stories about the history of making chocolates and the founder of this factory, is magic. And tourists can also learn how to make chocolates and cakes here. And the most impressive part I’ve learned today is that ‘white lover’ is named because the snow in Hokkaido is beautiful so that the founder’s father called it ‘white lover’. The dessert on the top of the factory was just splendid! with good view by the window, a perfect experience! Highly recommended!! And if you don’t buy tickets, the free area is also amazing, like a magic garden in a fairy tale. It’s a pity that we didn’t get enough time today, maybe next time when I come with my child, I’ll spend a whole day here!

Highly recommend to visit in October. The park is decorated for Halloween. We paid ¥800 to tour inside which was interactive for children as well. The factory view from above was very interesting. There are also plenty of photo spots and even a ¥300 camera from above photo spot in the courtyard. We purchased customised 36-biscuit tin and magnet from the Piccadilly shop downstairs in the main building and it was ready after a 30 wait. There are some shop exclusive items, however, the biscuits are standardised price across all gift shops in Hokkaido so no need to stock up here.

Awesome fun fairytale like place. For non-paid area, you can take a lot of Instagramable pictures. And there’s a song and show at every hour e.g 1pm, 2pm … For the paid area (8k yen), it was worth paying as I learnt a lot more on chocolate and the brand. On the top, there’s a cafe, drinks and food is ok but the view from the counter chairs is really pretty. It overlook the park and you can see the show at eye level.

Shiroi Koibito Park is well known as the home of Hokkaido’s famous cookies, and the inside factory tour and shop are quite fun. However, the outside area feels a little underwhelming—there isn’t too much to see or do, and it can feel a bit boring if you’re just walking around the gardens without joining the indoor activities. The design is pretty with some European-style touches, but overall the outdoor space is quite limited. It’s still worth visiting for the sweets and souvenirs, but if you’re expecting a large park with many attractions outside, it might feel a bit disappointing.

The monkey pastry was tasty, but the real star of what I got was the cheesecake. It's like a hybrid between a New York and a Basque cheesecake. It has the almost chewy crust of a Basque, with the fluffy crumbly creaminess of a New York.

Kita-Ichi Hall in Otaru is a really beautiful spot with a unique atmosphere. The setting with all the old petroleum lamps gives it a slightly mysterious vibe – and even the distinct smell adds to the experience in its own way. We had a couple of desserts and some coffee while we were there. The coffee was unfortunately very burnt and not great, and the desserts were just okay. The service felt a bit rushed. The service is a bit rushed to handle the high through put: 1) Find out what to order in the line, 2) Order and pay immediately, 3) Pick up right after and go to your table. It is efficient, but also felt a bit too rushed taking away from the exclusive feeling. The coffee was overheated, and the cake was just decent, but the atmosphere made up for it! So beautiful.

Chanced upon this pastry shop and was enticed by the "best consumed within 2 hours" sandwich cookie recommendation. I just HAD to try it, and I've got to say that this is hands down the best sandwich cookie I've had in Japan, even possibly my whole life. The cookie was thin, crunchy and the cocoa taste just cut through. As you bite into the cookie, the cheesecake is just the right amount of coldness, and melts as you sink your teeth into it. Devoured the cookie in a minute and it's one of the best delicacies I've had on my Japan trip thus far.

The cream puff is nice! For every cream puff purchased (¥90), you will get one cup of free coffee (cannot refill). There is a place on the 2nd floor for you to eat and drink. We tried the biscuit sandwich of cream with raisins - I would say this is an acquired taste. I like it but my hubby says that it tasted weird.

DISCRIMINATION! I went to this store with my husband to buy a cake. When we entered the store, there were two parties waiting in front of the cake display. There was no sign as to how the line works, so we each waited on opposite end of the line. After a while, I saw the party next to my husband being served, then later the group next to me being served, so theoretically I would be served next. I almost waved my husband to come over to my side, but glad I didn’t. Not sure since when some people started lining up behind my husband and only one person was lining up behind me. Then a staff member told me and the person behind me to go line up on the other side! If I was lining up wrong, then she should have told the Japanese party to line up on the other side too! I was so mad about their customer service! Glad that my husband was still in line so we were served next, otherwise I would have just left the store.

Love the strawberry tart at this place!! Not too sweet & the pastry is just nice :-) There are many varieties but we can only eat that much so perhaps if there is a next time :-) The only thing not so nice is the coffee as it is a bit diluted…. A bit more coffee powder will be nice :-). Love the ice cream as they are simply smooth & not too sweet 😋😋😋 Dun worry if you miss this one as they have quite a few outlets in Otaru itself :-)

Much smaller than the other stores closer to the canal but also less busy. Has the same basic items including the cheesecake and the cheese and milk biscuits. Excellent customer service and very friendly. Was able to purchase quickly with tax free.

The desserts are delicious but expensive. 3 small bags of cheese biscuits cost 2500yen. Be prepared to pay if you want to try these goodies. We bought the cheese cake, strawberries covered in chocolate and some other chocolates. All were good but expensive. Service was good as staff was friendly, attentive and very polite.

Came here around 1430 on a normal weekday and wasn't busy. When we came it was rich milk and hazelnut flavors. Hazenut was really good and rich milk was ok. You get choice of 3 cones or cup. The atmosphere is very cozy with retro furniture. The car park is huge.

By far the best soft ice cream in Sapporo. Incredibly friendly staff, too. They only offer 2 flavors, one always being milk, the other a surprise!

When people say "this is the best ice cream I've ever had" they mean it, and so do I. The experience of eating this Hokkaido milk softcream was both wonderful and tragic. I don't know if I'll ever be able to experience it again and I highly doubt anything else will come close. I'll treasure the time I spent here. I came to the area to visit the Olympic museum but this is the part that remains in my memory.

A historical sweets and dessert establishment in the centre of historical Otaru. Like much of Otaru, this store is set up firmly for Japanese tourists. This means most of the products are not presented as fresh, or from a counter, but rather in boxes and plastic wrapping: designed to be taken home as souvenirs. This place also gets very busy. Upstairs is a museum on the history of the dessert company. Downstairs are a range of boxes and packet sweets for sale. A small cafe at the back has tables and chairs and some ‘fresh’ options. The options are coffee, soft serve ice cream, plain and red adzuki bean, and mochi in a red adzuki bean paste, which was chilled when we visited in summer. We tried the red adzuki bean soft serve and the red adzuki bean mochi. Both were fun, good quality, but not quite to our taste. The soft serve was extremely rich and creamy, while the mochi was very sweet. It’s a fun quality place for red bean desserts, but note the richness and sweetness of what’s on offer.

This place has the world's second best chocolate cake called "Sylvie". I've had plenty of chocolate cake in my life and my absolute favorite is from Lisbon at Santini but this is very very good. yes the ones from French patisseries are also good like Jean Paul Hevin but this might be even better with the different layors of chocolate mousse and cream filling. We couldn't resist the huge poster and bought one frozen cake to take home but realized we have to make another trip to Otaru so I can buy more. It is not too sweet but sweet enough, not too chocolatety but chocolatey enough, the texture is perfect and the cream is heavenly. Compared to Jean Paul Hevin it is slightly on the sweeter side. After driving 3 hours to Otaru, I bought 3 cakes to be shipped to me and took home one. I shared a tiny bit with my kids and they kept talking about it for days. My youngest had one tiny bite and pushed his plate forward to ask for more already. It is soo sooooo good. It's just the perfect size for about 4 pieces for us, 6 if it is japanese size but honestly I could probably eat the entire cake in one sitting. Yum. Btw letao validates parking for every 2000 yen at the lot when you turn right at the post office near by.

As a melon lover and a soft serve lover. This was definitely a combination of a life time. I loved how sweet both components were! The melon was soooo fresh, and the soft serve was delectable and soooo creamy but not heavy. This was a year and a half ago and i just remembered to review it because i was craving it so bad

Missed their Furano farm store so was pleasantly surprised they have a branch in Otaru too. Entrance is tricky to find so just look for their signage after entering the Denuki Koji alleyway on the ground floor. Sweet, juicy melons with equally delicious melon flavoured soft serve. They sell smaller portion quarter melon Santa's Beard here too instead of the typical half melon but the cafe is pricier compared to others in the area. They also provide jagged metal teaspoons to eat the melon which is more convenient than blunt plastic spoons. Just a pity they don't sell the melon by itself since the fruit was so sweet that soft serve isn't really necessary.

I’m not a dessert enthusiast but should try melon soft serve (Taste like real melon and no artificial flavoring). Would probably get mix of vanilla and melon soft serve so that its not too sweet

Amazing appearance for an ice cream dessert. Since we’re here in Hokkaido, having the option to try half a small cantaloupe 🍈 with ice cream is awesome experience. Highly recommend as a treat for yourself.

It’s a little tricky to find the store. I loved their melon soft serve on top of Hokkaido melon. Melon is super sweet and juicy. Unfortunately, you can’t purchase melon only. Their drinks were good too. Highly recommended if you visit Otaru.

Me and my family stopped here for dinner during the shoulder season so the restaurant was on a quiet side. We were skeptical at first but it was late and many restaurants have already closed so we took a leap of faith and went in. Gotta say we are glad we did as the husband and wife duo were very friendly and welcoming. The food was very tasty and it has a family feel. Recommended. 😁

My husband and I went to this restaurant today to try their lamb , but it was very disappointing. The seating was cramped, and even though there were empty tables inside, we were put in a cold corner near the entrance, sitting awkwardly in an L-shape. At first, we didn’t mind, but when two local Japanese customers arrived, they were seated next to us. Later, when more tables inside became available, the staff offered the better seats to the Japanese customers instead of us, even though we arrived first. This felt disrespectful. The service was also poor. One of the older staff kept calling us “【nationality】+couple” in English, which was uncomfortable and inappropriate. The food was not good either. The dipping sauces, made of grated daikon and garlic juice, tasted bitter and strange. The lamb slices were too fatty, and when we asked which part of the lamb it was, they said it was a mix of all parts rolled together and sliced. Overall, I strongly do not recommend this restaurant. The food and service were both disappointing

Even though we don’t speak Japanese, they made us feel like family at this restaurant. There are seats for 10 next to the counter with the charcoal grills. The set meal came with bean sprouts squash, several different kinds of mushrooms, eggplant and green pepper. Thin slices of lamb on top cooked quickly followed by large chunks of lamb, rolled in rosemary. There was a fabulous homemade dipping sauce. Food and atmosphere were exceptional. We would happily return.

I want to give 6-star... Accidentally stumbled upon this place on one snowy night, trying to find a place to eat in the shopping street (but apparently most were closed because of Christmas Eve), and then the alley looked beautiful so we wanted to take pictures, and saw this place instead. We haven't tried Jingisukan yet so why not! Food is way beyond yummy, fresh vegetables, and just absolutely delicious meat! Traditional style Genhis Khan (jingisukan). If you understand Japanese, the lady will tell you the story of Jingisukan and how her family does it. The sauce is homemade and has been passed for generations in her family - was made from when Jingisukan started coming into Hokkaido etc (that's what I could understand). She does it differently from other chain restaurants because she used the original technique with the meat cuts etc. We had fun there talking to the lady, and the husband was very nice too. We were the only 2 guests there that night so they really welcomed us warmly. She even made calls to her friends to ask which restaurant has good crab/seafood just because we asked her if she knew any place around here for us to go for lunch the next day. She called some people and helped us make a reservation even! Beyond grateful for everything. Would definitely go back. And I will be their marketing ambassador! Hahaha

Cosy and intimate ジンギスカン place. Discovered it by chance and it was awesome. The place serves excellent lamb with traditional sauces. Horse radish with lamb was an unexpected great combo. The lady owner was very hospitable and knowledgeable.

This newly opened (Dec 18) jingisukan restaurant is definitely worth the visit. It serves great grilled lamb at very affordable prices! It is located at a tiny alleyway so it might take some effort to find it, but it is worth it.

Disappointing Uni Soft Serve As a big uni lover, I was excited to try the uni soft serve after seeing a poster at this store. Unfortunately, it wasn’t great. For ¥880, the soft serve was okay, but the uni didn’t taste fresh or good. The seaweed topping was terrible—I don’t know how else to describe it. Overall, it was a memorable experience, but not in a good way. I wouldn’t try it again.

Uni and soft serve?!? Sounds weird, and maybe just wrong, so I was very reluctant to try it... So glad I gave it a chance! The uni (mixed-in) and the piece of kombu gave the creamy Hokkaido soft serve this umami, creamy, salty delicious flavor! Granted it was strange, but it actually works! So glad we stumbled upon it. Both my wife and I commented on how we will miss this unique Japanese offering.

LABO HACHI offers something that is unique - sea urchin "uni" ice cream. I found it quite unique and interesting to pair the creamy & briny seafood with ice cream, with shoyu to drip on. Crispy fried seaweed to complete the experience. Others uni related products are on sale too! Must come!

I came here thinking the uni ice cream would be extremely gimmicky but ended up being pleasantly surprised! The uni was fresh and the soft serve taste is great and goes really well with the dried seaweed topping. Would get it again 😀

Just walking by and sea urchin ice cream??? It was delicious and a very interesting concept. It is a bit more expensive compared to your regular ice cream soft serve. However, it was delicious and well worth your time. The regular Hokkaido ice cream is fantastic as well. Recommend on trying.

Very iconic area I guess it has become a popular tourist spot the price has been sky rocketing! The seafood is fresh, but the rice bowl seems like a mini version compared to the price. Enjoyed the food tho.. The lady wasn’t really friendly as we have been many places in Japan most of the staff are very polite and soft spoken. But this lady seems like not the friendly category. We came in, sit, eat, pay and left without problem tho, just saw the unpleasant incident that happened to other customers before us which they were asking for warm water for their kids but being told no. Then the customer insisted asking for the water which the lady gave her a glass of tap water. Then the customer ask again which being told no And the other family member ask for the water and being given which the family member then give it to the lady which being refused water. It’s kind of awkward moment for us to see while dining. Cost 9500 yen for these 2 bowls

Sawasaki Suisan may be small, but it offers an intimate dining experience with most seats arranged around a bar table, providing a front-row view of the skilled chef at work. During my visit, I ordered their special seafood rice bowl, brimming with an array of fresh seafood like crab, shrimp, and scallops. Each bite was a testament to the freshness and exceptional quality of the ingredients. The accompanying miso soup was the perfect warm complement to the meal. The chef was a friendly person and explains to me about the seafood included in my meal. Notably, Sawasaki Suisan operates three establishments within the area and the one I visited was their restaurant No. 1. For those visiting Otaru and love seafood, I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by Sawasaki Suisan.

Omg the food is just so good, I have no complaints. Came here for a quick lunch and the kaisendon is just right in size. I ordered the uni-ikura-kani don that serves a good mixture of texture and umami. Love it!! Oh it also has AC and ice cold water, just right for a stop in a hot summer.

It is funny to decorate the dessert by ourselves, it tastes above average, but not surprisingly good. The coffee and the drinks are average. The coffee shop is spacious and the staff are friendly. It is good to stop by and have a rest if you are tired.

Le Tao is one of the leading confectionary brands in Otaru, constantly innovating and creating new gastronomical masterpieces. Despite its ordinary looks, this was a 10/10 chocolate tart, both on the memorable light pastry and impressive chocolate cream/paste which was light and a hint of ganache.

I've never been a cake person.. but I've got to try the cheese cake given its popularity here in Otaru. And I think it's really good, it's like having 2 layers of cake in there.. the usual and more dense cheese cake at the bottom and a lighter sponge/ cream on top.. its not overly sweet, which is important for me. The accompanying tea was really good as well, no sugar needed.

LeTAO Pathos is a delightful cafe with the fluffiest souffle experience, where your dessert is drowned in delicious cream by you at your table to your own design. They also have a delicious selection of teas to accompany their dessert experiences or parfait.

This souvenir shop & cafe operates along the national highway in Nakafurano Town. They serve a sweet called "Santa's Beard" here, which is a melon topped with soft-serve ice cream. There are many signs along the road, so it has an impact. The name of this product is probably more noticeable than the name of the store. The name of the shop is so named because the soft-serve ice cream on top of the sliced melon looks like Santa Claus' beard. I visited the store before going to the hot spring next door, because I noticed the impact of the store. However, I am not a big fan of melons, and I had just received a large amount of melons from a friend, so I decided to get a drink this time. This time I ordered a drink called "Blue Pond Cider. Aoi Ike is a famous sightseeing spot in Biei-cho, the next town over from here. The drink is carbonated, so I heard that you have to slowly turn it upside down and mix it evenly before drinking. The taste is more refreshing than it looks. The container has a strange shape, but how do they put the lemon in it? It was a moderately interesting store. One of life's little indulgences ...... Worthy of being called the king of fruits (over the durian IMHO is the sweet and juicy Hokkaido melon. Pricey but unbelievably worth it. The melon ice-cream is also incredible.

Located by the road, they're popular for their melon ice cream dessert which is super yummy. We ordered half of a melon with mixed soft cream, the melon was super sweet and was very delicious. Later we ordered the potato pizza and it wasn't as good as we expected. The potatoes on the pizza weren't cooked well and it was super hard. Some of them were still raw. So come here for the famous dessert and stay away from the pizza, unless they learn how to cook the potatoes properly.

Everything here is so good! We tried almost everything baked goods on the menu and we were blown away by the freshness and fluffiness of the cheese and cream! We also had a coffee and a melon ice cream which was very refreshing! Love our experience here. Staff was also courteous and very efficient.

We visited this café after stopping by the Otaru Music Box Museum to take a short break with family. The iced Americano and latte were both fine. However, some of the staff were very unfriendly, which made the experience unpleasant. When I asked for a bit of extra water because the coffee was too strong, the staff member just stared at me and handed it over in a very rude manner. Later, when I returned the tray after finishing our food, the same staff kept staring and simply pointed at the trash bin with their finger, then walked away without saying anything. The coffee was okay, but the poor service left a bad impression. If you’re expecting friendly service, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Not worth the wait in line. 😔 We thought it'd be good because it had a line up. However, we waited about 30 minutes to get inside and the only reason there was a line was because the purchasing of the danishes is extremely inefficient. One employee takes your order, grabs your danishes, gets your drinks, takes payment, etc while the other employees stand behind them doing nothing. The fromage apple pie was nice enough but there were only about 3 slices of apple in it. The fromage danish was ok at best. The hot chocolate was more like a hot milk with only a little bit of chocolate in it.

As one of the comment mentioned, it is a kind of traditional food with some history in Otaru, not supposed foreigner / outsider could really comment on as you did not grow up there. So my comment is just represent a typical innocent tourist. The street was so quite in the Monday afternoon. We first thought this shop was a photo print shop. As it sticked with a lots of stuff on the wall and you could not see any product image on its banner , signs and store front. (Full of questions marks , lol) We peered inside and we knew the owner was making some kind of food. We passed by the second time and saw a Japanese man and a lady purchased inside and chitchatting with the owner. And we visited after they left the store. It’s a kind of cake (pancake) with full of red bean paste filling (so called Imagawayaki? Not sure). It was still warm. The cake is soft and not so thick, in proportion the red bean paste is quite a lot, it taste good yet not so sweet. I read some reviews here that the owner is not nice, in fact the Japanese just visited the shop seems get along with the owner so well. But I do think this guy is unlike other Japanese. We got our cake and left the shop. The Japanese customers just visited were still outside the store and give us a thumb up. And told us the shop almost close. Red bean paste is also widely used in Chinese dessert too. Good to have this warm snack in the winter.

After walking around Otaru Canal, we wanted a little sweet treat and we found this ice cream place in this shopping street and we went up the stairs to the place and it felt like I just entered to someone grandparents house and it felt nice and cozy, the two older folks with not that much English were very nice and we appreciate how hard they were trying to communicate with us. We ordered two sundaes, they are kinda pricey but I overall enjoyed them and when we were ready to pay they were so sweet to us and thanked us and waved us goodbye. I would recommend this place if you’re interested in a retro style atmosphere since the store have been around for 100 years.

As everyone says, the vintage ambiance is the first thing you notice. I was saddened that there aren’t a variety of icecream flavors like the one at the Otaru Neon. Service wise, I felt slightly disrespected when I was seated first but they took a Japanese family’s order who came in after and sat later than us.

Vintage atmosphere, business ran by 2 lovely elders (thus we have to wait a while until the ice cream come to our table). The ice cream is not like the usual ice cream that you eat, I bet you never taste an ice cream like this. It has ginger&honey flavor inside (even though they don't use ginger). The price was a bit expensive though, but I think it was worth the experience.

We were attracted by the long history of this ice cream shop which established in 1919. The lady in the shop was very nice. Always with smile in her face. The shop has English menu. We ordered a pudding sundae and coffee sundae. The ice cream texture is between soft served and sand ice. The flavor including the taste of milk and yogurt (I actually mean Yakult), and there should be honey and some flavor like ginger and lemon peel by guess. I pretended to be the owner and joked to my boyfriend the ingredients are actually secret. After that we read a Chinese interview showing on the table mentioning exactly what i was saying. Lol. My sundae also with melon juice in it. Which melon flavor in Hokkaido is so popular and the taste is so good! (In fact the Yaburi melon is so famous and precious) The menu was written in Chinese characters which were probably the translation in the old days. In a very different way. If you know Chinese you could tell how interesting it is. Overall is a good place that I highly recommended. It is uneasy to run a business for so long. You should get to know about their history and the history of Otaru.

A simple but satisfying snack experience. Sopped by for a light bite and ordered their set, which came with two dangos and a drink. While the drink, unfortunately, was just instant matcha powder mixed with hot water—nothing special. The dango had a delightful, soft chew and were flavourful, making them a delightful treat treat.

you have to order a set if you want to eat inside. so, even though it’s raining outside, we decided to take out because the drink was just plain with no features. the matcha だんご(sticky rice ball) was good though.

The match and white bean taste so pure and clean without being sweet that they taste like they were made with water from a cold mountain stream. As first time foreign tourists in Otaru, my family and I were here today to try the local "Panju" dessert served at this cafe. We ordered quite a few "Panjus" among us along with some beverages. The "Panjus" were like a spongy bun with sweet filling therein and the flavours ranged from the local red bean paste to even camembert cheese. My family and I enjoyed our choice of pretty looking "Panjus" at this cafe. The service and the dining ambience here were also very good.

Good stop after a day of walking. This old bank now offers some pasteries, souvenirs and coffee. I enjoyed the architecture while enjoying my coffee, much of it is original.

If you've ever craved Squid Ink or Sea Urchin-flavored Ice Cream, be sure to visit Kita no Ice Cream Yasan Shop. They have homemade ice cream in a wide variety of flavors, but I came to try their two more famous and stranger tastes. While the Squid Ink tasted a hint like Sea Salt and Charcoal, the Uni was surprisingly creamy and delicious with actual urchin bits! 😋

This ice cream shop serves unique flavours like sea urchin and squid ink flavours. The quality of the ice cream is okay at best, but the unusual flavours are not particularly pleasant. I wouldn’t come here again if I had the choice. However if you want to say you have had sea urchin ice cream then you should visit.

Overrated (and i suspect a tourist trap as this was heavy touted by some websites). The supposed specialty - sea urchin and squid - had basically no flavor. Also tried the chocolate and sweet potato, which I would give a passing grade. Would not recommend. Try your luck elsewhere.

It's not bad. Mister Donut is a fairly known donut franchise in Japan, mostly known by fans of the 物語 series. As for whether it'll live up the serie's exaggerated donuts, well it's a miss. There's definitely good stuff here; the mochi donuts are my personal favorite since they have that chewy bite and variety of flavors to go through. If you're really hungry, they do ramen and pasta dishes too, although it feels like there are better nearby spots for those cravings. I can't say that this is a must-stop spot, but if you're hungry for a sweet treat, this'll do the trick. It's conveniently right across the street from the Otaru station.

I have never had such an amazing donut shop experience. Fresh donuts with local flare. Japanese donuts are so much more oishi since there is not so much sugar or preservative. Thank you Mister Donut for a delicious snack. Wish we could take you home overseas.
