Very nice, cozy and welcoming atmosphere (lots of people come here to work, a good place to stay for a while), staff was really helpful and kind. Free wifi and it works great. Coffee is good, but not great. Some pastries are better than others. Specially recommend the kanelknuter. Lots of options in drinks. Variety of sandwiches, and full breads, granola, coffee, organic flours and even biscotti available to take away.

What a wonderful address for all bread lovers. Whatever your choice among all the products that are proposed by this bakery, you will be greatly satisfied. The bakers here truly master their art. Breads are at the same time so tasty and easy to digest. Same for the pastries, just perfect. In addition, you can enjoy some coffee, and even have lunch, in a nice atmosphere. Staff is welcoming and friendly.
What a great experience at this bakery/cafe on a quiet Saturday morning in Oslo. A big space yet has many cozy corners for enjoying their delicious baked goods, lunch items, and espresso drinks. This would be my regular spot if I lived in Oslo!
Sweet local Norwegian bakery cafe with lots of different breads and pastries to sample! I got an almond bread one with some kind of cream center. It was delicious! Laid back, not too trendy or crowded. It was a nice place to start the day 🌞🫶🏽
A lovely place which opens earlier on Sunday than other cafés … Had an oatmilk cappuccino & cold vegan sandwich which was made from scratch :) Loved the atmosphere & the lovely girls behind the counter; a bit pricey though. Everything tasted good!

Lovely quiet place to sit ,bread was ok and coffee is a little bit boring taste not very hot .One thing that's not acceptable is a staff using hand preparing sandwiches burgers touching all ingredients without gloves.
I am satisfied with every pastry I tried from here. First I bought their wholewheat bread which was delicious. Then we came here for breakfast and preferred favourite sandwich, focaccia sandwich, a spiral cinnamon roll with cream in middle and a small pizza. They were all fresh and nice. I especially enjoyed my sandwich.

The Alfredo is creamy and innovative; really nice espressos; the must to be mentioned are the cold coffee and the filter tasting menu.

An incredible coffee experience! The coffee here is unlike anything I’ve had before, rich, unique, and absolutely delicious. The shop itself is small and always buzzing with people, which just shows how loved it is. I also really appreciated the details: they sell their own coffee beans and serve drinks in beautifully designed mugs created in collaboration with a Norwegian artisan. A true gem for coffee lovers, and one I’ll keep coming back to!
I was lucky to arrive at 8:40am — only one table was occupied. After I ordered, a long queue quickly formed, and it became difficult to find a table to enjoy the coffee. The staff was very patient and helpful, offering suggestions and explaining the features, flavours, and origin of each type of filter coffee, even though the menu already listed them.
I ordered the coffee from Kapsokisio, Kenya. It was a light and clean cup with a bright, fruity flavour that reminded me of red berries and a hint of citrus. The finish was smooth and slightly sweet, which made it very refreshing and easy to drink.

WB Samson is my favourite cafe chain in Oslo! There is a ton of artisan bread and traditional Norwegian sweet treats here, including cinnamon buns and the more uniquely Norwegian skoleboller - sweet buns topped with custard and dessicated coconut. Meanwhile, there is a good range of sandwiches for those who prefer savoury, including an excellent vegan hummus, tomato and avocado baguette.
We popped in for three coffees as it was a cold day. Service by the young ladies was friendly and helpful, and one of them recommended the double chocolate cake. It was nice, if slightly too sweet. We did not try their signature cinnamon bun as we are not keen on that spice.
The eatery is located within a small walk through arcade, which also features a very tall statue of a woman.

This marks my third consecutive day here, and each visit has been nothing short of fantastic. My go-to order—coffee and avocado toast with two extra eggs—has been consistently delicious. The food quality is superb, always fresh, and perfectly seasoned.
The staff here truly stands out. They are incredibly friendly and warm, always making me feel welcome. While they're open to customizing orders, I've found that the original balance of the dishes is so thoughtfully crafted that any changes can slightly disrupt the harmony. For a coffee and meal, expect to pay around 250 KR, and for a quick pick-up, it's typically between 150 and 200 KR.
Even on weekday mornings, Åpent Bakeri is bustling, a testament to its popularity among locals. The crowd is often well-dressed and appears quite content, whether they're deep in conversation or focused on their work. This lively atmosphere, combined with the visible communication between the chef and assistant to ensure order accuracy, creates a confident and efficient vibe.
Cleanliness is paramount to me, and Åpent Bakeri consistently meets my high standards. The bathroom is always well-maintained with stocked soap, which I believe speaks volumes about a business's commitment to overall hygiene and healthy practices. Out in the main area, the food display is impeccably organized, and I've never observed any cross-contamination of pastries.
Beyond my beloved avocado toast—where the perfectly cooked, runny egg and balanced portions of avocado, bread, mayo, and seasoning shine—I've also indulged in their pancakes and chocolate scone. The pancakes were soft, fluffy, and thick, served with fresh, juicy berries. While I wished for one more pancake, I appreciate that you can easily add an extra. The chocolate scone was also a treat: thick, delightfully crumbly on the outside, and soft on the inside.
While the coffee is good and certainly gets the job done, it might not be considered "top shelf." However, this is a minor detail in an otherwise exceptional experience. Expect a short line for ordering, usually 2 to 5 minutes, but rest assured the staff are excellent listeners and always verify your order with care.
Åpent Bakeri has truly won me over with its delicious food, warm service, vibrant atmosphere, and unwavering commitment to quality. It's clear why it's a local favorite, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly authentic and enjoyable bakery experience in Oslo.

So so so so delicious!!! Everything is fresh and tasty, made to order. I love the atmosphere here! Nothings better than a good skolebrød on a rainy day, and this place sells the best pastries in Oslo. I also love the salad I ordered, the best I’ve had in a long time. A lovely spot for breakfast. The food was good overall, and I especially enjoyed the high-quality sourdough bread. However, the pastry wasn’t as fresh as I had hoped, which was a bit disappointing. Still, a nice place to start the day.
Egg and avocado toast was incredible!! Iced coffee was great too. It took a while for the toast to be ready which wasn't a problem but if you're stopping in between set meetings/tours, give yourself leeway in case it's a slow kitchen day. Large outside seating area and the inside cafe area was super cute.
Avocado and eggs were sooooo good, surprisingly for a basic breakfast. Pancakes were fine as well. Mocca is always great. It’s a spacious branch with a hot breakfast menu.
Lovely cafe with a great vibe. We visited on a Wednesday at around 10:30am and it was a full house! We got a table and got our meal and coffee quite quickly. We tried the avocado and egg and egg and bacon dishes and they were great.
We struggled to find a place in Oslo that had substantial breakfast options (aside from pastries) at reasonable prices and this place ticked all the boxes! Coffee was also great.

The best sourdough in Oslo! It’s always super fresh and delicious. I really like the Spelt sourdough, which is only available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The cinnamon and cardamom buns are also absolutely amazing and made of sourdough. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful.
bread is delicious! there is a ramp up to the courtyard ille brød sits in and the entrance is wheelchair accessible, although a large power chair might not be able to turn around inside the store since it’s narrow. no seating inside and no bathroom.

One of the best bakeries I've ever tried. And I tried quite a few. Beautiful looking bread and amazing taste. You can sample available breads paired with really good olive oil. They also serve great coffee from the best roasters in Oslo. Try the sandwiches; they're special. Oh, and they have the most amazing sourdough cinnamon rolls in the world. I don't like cinnamon, but I loved their rolls.
Delicious sourdough bread here and all the ingredients are organic and the flour is stone milled. The butter is locally made and extremely yummy! This is the perfect place to get a quick and delicious breakfast or snack. The staff here are very nice and are happy to answer any of your bread making questions.

I don't like to write negatively about three-star restaurants, but I was very disappointed with this pride of our nation, Norway's best restaurant. Starting with the rushed service and lack of proper wine recommendations, we were already half an hour into our main courses. Then we were invited to a room in the basement. I understand that the second service scheduled for 9:00 PM forced us to be in such a hurry, but they also forgot to serve us one of the dishes, and there were only 13 of them. The food was great, but something wasn't quite right. It's a pleasure to go to such restaurants. We flew in from Poland specifically for this. Something didn't quite work, but we're not discouraged; maybe we'll try again next year. We send our regards to the entire staff, asking for improvement. We were there on August 13th.

Maaemo was my first ever visit to a Michelin Star Restaurant. The service and attention to detail from the staff was beyond anything I had ever experienced. Everyone on the staff was like a well oiled machine and everyone knew what they were doing while simultaneously paying attention to each guest.
The inside of the restaurant was comfortable, spacious and filled with art (some of which was functional).
The food was beyond my understanding or ability to describe. It's just something you need to experience for yourself. Everything was fantastically delicious. I still have dreams about the Lamb Donut!
Towards the end each table was given a private tour of the restaurant and the kitchens. You can tell that the staff enjoy their workplace.
Lastly, I need to mention how grateful I was. The staff gave me a birthday treat and a candle. The gesture was highly appreciated.
Unbelievable menu, some of the most enticing and imaginative flavors, textures, and ingredient combinations I've ever experienced! The ambience is singularly unique, with a clean yet warm atmosphere. The service was elevated and fluid yet never stuffy. We were so pampered! Oh, I highly recommend the juice pairing. Such a thrilling meal I will NEVER forget.

Fantastic food, fascinating interior, beautiful design with an earthy aesthetic. A bounty of food - every single bite is exquisite. My favorite was maybe the lamb donut on further thought, but there was so much good to eat. I had an amazing view of the chefs at work, and I found the non-alcoholic drink menu to be very nice and full of flavors you won’t encounter anywhere else. Very floral and an excellent taste and smell. The downstairs area is so nice, it has a cool feel to it, and the desserts are so good. It’s a highlight of the trip to Oslo - and then really nice to see Maeemo featured in an exhibit at the National Museum after dining there.

Came here for dinner, and it's a great food hall with ample selections for varying tastes. There are vegetarian/vegan options as well as great selections for seafood and game. You can also buy desserts, cheeses and alcohol. Most places offer limited seating at their counters, but there are a lot of tables available in the center that are shared between all the different vendors. Highly recommend.

If I lived nearby, this would be a regular go to spot. There are so many choices here, and the two places we did try (a Spanish bites place and a goulash one) were both amazing. The vibes are cozy and comfortable-overall if you’re in the area, put it on your to eat list!
This is a multiple smaller businesses operating within the food hall. I tried the meat and fish companies. Both were exceptional. Prices were very tourist-like but the quality was great. The multiple different stores within the market made this a one stop.
I saw they also had a butcher shop with aged beef.
A lovely indoor market with many typical restaurants offering Norwegian specialties. The place we chose required one dish per person if seated inside, which was a bit much as the portions were already generous. Still, the food was excellent, with a great harmony of flavors and ingredients. We really enjoyed discovering elk, reindeer, and whale among others.

Calamari was probably the most disappointing in value - krr 156 or 165 cant remember and 5 pieces. It was tasty fresh and crunchy but a bit too expensive

Awesome market and eating places. Has several bars and restaurants plus all the markets for fresh meat, fish, bread, cheeses. Many types of restaurants from sushi to burgers. Fairly “new” (like all things Oslo). Felt like it was built more recently rather than having a long history like other European markets. But we never pass up a stop at the market to see what the locals are eating.
Magnificent! A vast selection of fabulous food vendors, each unique to the next. HIGHLY recommend the trek from Oslo central.

One of the best coffees you can have in Oslo with no doubt! No surprise there is a line in front of them. I loved their cappuccino and Colombian coffee beans. It was between chocolate & berries kinda flavour, nice for french press. If you just ask for baristas' advice for coffee beans, they'll direct you perfectly.

Nestled in the heart of Oslo, Lutlaget L/L is a delightful fusion of a brasserie, bakery, wine bar, and pizza restaurant brought to life by Lofthus Samvirkelag and Apent Bakeri. Under the expert guidance of pastry chef Diana Elizondo and her husband, chef Martin Gnecco, this establishment has quickly become renowned for its exceptional offerings.
Found by chance it was a pleasant discovery, so much so that I chose it for breakfast every day of the holiday. Very very nice and relaxing location, close to the Munch museum. The products are high quality and heavenly good. There are several choices, if I had to make a ranking of what I tasted I would put the cardamom puff pastry in first place, the hazelnut puff pastry in second, the raspberry cupcake in third and the cinnamon puff pastry in last. I missed the pistachio puff pastry which was very inspiring anyway.
I highly recommend this pastry shop, if I ever return to Oslo it would be a must-see!! Love it🥰

I fell in love with this café during my stay in Oslo. The bread tasted absolutely amazing and I was also a big fan of the sweet backed goods (some kind of cinnamon bun topped with vanilla custard).
Orders are taken on the far left side at the counter, whereas drinks are handed on the bar to the right/front. The concept was a bit confusing at first.
I enjoyed it very much and came back two more times. Sadly sandwiches are not available first thing in the morning. But I will for sure visit again on my next trip!

An Exceptionally Executed Meal at Lutlaget, Oslo
Dining at Lutlaget was a masterclass in understated excellence. From the moment we were seated, the service struck a balance between professionalism and genuine warmth, setting the tone for a memorable evening.
Our meal began with a simple yet remarkable offering: freshly baked bread. The contrast between the delicately crisp crust and pillowy soft interior was textbook perfection. So much so, we found ourselves requesting more — a gesture our waiter graciously obliged, emblematic of the attentive and generous hospitality throughout the evening.
For our main course, we shared the Entrecôte, accompanied by French fries and a choice of sauce au poivre or café de Paris. Both sauces were exemplary, with the café de Paris in particular standing out — rich, aromatic, and laced with a subtle depth of flavour that elevated the dish to something truly memorable. The steak itself was cooked precisely medium rare, as ordered — seared with confidence, and rested to preserve its tenderness and full flavour.
At the recommendation of our waiter, we added the green salad — a thoughtful accompaniment, dressed in a house vinaigrette, generously adorned with Parmigiano-Reggiano and a striking layer of shaved beetroot. The acidity and texture played beautifully against the richness of the meat and sauce.
Service was nothing short of superb. Our waiter demonstrated a deep understanding of the menu, offering well-judged recommendations while remaining effortlessly attentive. His composure, timing, and precision would not be out of place in a Michelin-starred dining room. And we have a wealth of experience eating in these restaurants.
In sum, Lutlaget delivers a level of quality and care — both on the plate and in the dining experience — that signals something quietly special is happening here. We would return without hesitation.
Oslo has very popular backer’s and this part of restaurant is very nice and they have so good quality ( like a 🇫🇷) cakes with so unimaginable and divine taste with beautiful decoration.
BAKERY. Good pastries and coffee. The prices are on the expensive side, but that was expected. Quite difficult to find a table on a Saturday. The tables lacked cleaning, they were sticky. The service was a bit cold with almost no communication at all. No decaf.
Visited the cafe part of the restaurant. The bun was delicious and fluffy, would have loved to try some more of the assortment as it also looked delicious. Will sure do next time!
One of my personal highlights in pastry-hunting around Oslo! Very cosy and esthetically looking bakery for your slow morning coffee stop. Their barista was super friendly and suggested one of their summer menu specials and we both agreed I’ll leave a review if I would like her suggestion :) Well, the lime-mint pastry was one of the best things I tried in a long while, so here comes my small part, hands down recommended!

Ate a few times through our trip in Norway from two different Baker Hansen stores. Main reason for the first visit was having read reviews about their gluten free products, and did not disappoint. The gluten free sandwiches were delicious and there were a range of choices for filling. They make them fresh in store (saw them being made). The gluten free pastry items I tried were all amazing, I am sad I won't get them back home. Make sure you ask the staff if you don't see the gluten free, it's separated and they will happily help you. Not everything is always available, but give what is there a try. My partner tried a range of their normal products (sandwiches and bakery items) said they all tasted good as well.
Food options were okay, if you like a smoothie they were excellent, very fresh tasting. Seating area was comfortable and the staff was nice. Espresso beans were a little sweeter and less bitter than my tastes. Would go again.

The shrimp salad there is the best I’ve had in my life. Stay two days in Oslo, I managed to eat it twice.
The croissant was undercooked and that is unacceptable for a bakery. Also the food/pastry displays were so empty, and not because they were sold out, but because they don’t sell much. They use fake plants to fill out the empty shelves.
I gave this place a chance several times because my Norwegian friend loves this bakery chain very much. There are no complaints about coffee, it's good. But the buns and sandwiches are very dry for me. Do something about it

The staff was always so kind and attentive and every dish was presented and explained in such an elegant yet unpretentious way. They have a lovely selection of wine, cozy outdoor terrace and lovely interior design.

We came here for the last night of our two week Norwegian trip.
The restaurant had a very nice outside patio facing the river. The staff was warm.
I have to be somewhat critical about the food because they were all very photogenic but the taste and texture could all be improved.
The first course is kale soup. The portion was small but I think it is the right size so we don’t get filled up right away. However it was too too salty. It was really not suitable for the first course. The second one is the home made ham. It tasted fine but nothing special. The halibut was chewy. This was the second time I had halibut in Norway. Both of them were disappointing. I would recommend to get it in Anchorage. The side dish is cauliflower. The chef managed to add a lot of color to this pale vegetable. Unfortunately it tasted too soft and still boring. The final dish is steak. It was the best dish for the night. It was placed in a warm dish.
Overall I liked the deco and sitting of the restaurant. The design of the dining table and Riedel wine glasses. The chefs seemed put a lot of emphasis on plating the food but forgot about the taste and texture. The wait staff were nice but need more knowledge.
Excellent menu and atmosphere. Stand-outs were the carrots in seabuckthorn glaze, the lamb, and the two varieties of Norwegian cider with the drinks menu. Will visit again!
Wish we could've done the tasting menu justice but we truly enjoyed the experience. We had the four course dinner and were blown away by both the presentation and quality of the food. My favorites were the halibut and the potato and leek soup. By the time the entrecote arrived we were in a food coma. Could've easily fed a table of four. Waitress was helpful [tilda?] and quite frankly, adorable. A wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful experience at Olympen. My wife and I showed up and unbeknownst to us it was a large pub crawl event. The manager, however, made a table available to us very quickly and we received top-notch service and food, even though I'm sure it was not easy for him to accommodate us. The ambience of Olympen is still right up there. Last time I was here was back in 2014 and I have a snap of Almanac to remember it by.
Today, a fair amount of Nøgne Ø at more than reasonable prices. Cheaper than a shot of Garagiste ot Marlobobo for sure.
Winerschnitzel was tasty, but a tiny bit overcooked. Wasn’t expecting a lot of sides so the sauerkraut and mash came as a pleasant surprise. Overall a pleasant experience.
Came here for a British event, Sunday Roast. The place was full and had a cosy atmosphere. My portion of lamb was a little small compared to the others at my table. It was good but a little dry. The servise was good. I’ll be back if they have something similar.
We had our company party at Olympen and were really impressed. The staff were super accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. Communication was quick and easy, and everything went smoothly.
The food was excellent, and the service was even better. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had a great time. Just a very well-run place with a great atmosphere.

I had a burger that was good for the price. A bit a style of the last century. The lamb sausages with mashed potatoes I can't recommend. The taste was ok but much too heavy.
All in all I stay a fan of that place anyway.
We went to this place because it said they had traditional Norwegian food - they did not. There was German, Asian, American…but no Norwegian food. The portions were on the smaller side but the prices were high. We had a salad and the mango on it was hard and you could barely chew it.
When we arrived they asked if we had a reservation and made it sound like it was going to be hard to seat us. They sat us easily and the restaurant was more empty than full the entire time we were there. Service was just ok.
Lovely local Norwegian restaurant. Had the Cod tongue and herring 3 ways to start and both were fantastic. The roasted deer main was excellently cooked. The staff were super friendly. All-round relaxed at atmosphere. Large beer selection.

We ate here by chance as my son needed to use the closest toilet. We took a chance and decided to have lunch here. It was hard to understand the lady as to what the special lunch menu was so we just ordered off of the normal menu.
Food was really nice and tasted authentic. Spice levels were really good even for someone who is originally from the UK and loves a good curry.
We aren’t the biggest of eaters portion wise but this was what I would consider as a very small portion of food so if you have a good appetite order two portions.
Maybe there was a lack of communication but we were only given one naan bread between the three of us. We couldn’t be bothered to go back inside and ask for more as we sat outside to eat.
By far the best restaurant in Oslo .. you won’t be disappointed and the taste is amazing .. we keep coming back always as we know it will be good .. We recommend it to anyone who loves Indian cuisine.

I tried Punjabi Tandoori and the Lamb Karahi was outstanding – so good that I ended up ordering it twice. The meat was tender, no gaminess at all, and the masala flavor was spot on. The regular Chicken Karahi was just okay, and the Chicken Tandoori was also just okay – honestly, their chicken isn't the best quality. But the lamb is absolutely the star here and worth coming back for. On top of that, the man at the counter was very pleasant and made the experience better.
The only good thing is the price. The rest is horrible.
A dirty and brightly lit room, except for half of the place where the lights didn’t work. The waiter (who was very nice) forgot to give us cutlery (we were alone in the Resturant). The food bland and felt unfresh.
The toilets couldn’t be locked, and the handle for the tap on the sink fell off. The white door was black on the edges from all dirty hands that had tried to lock it over the years.
Will never visit again.

I have been eating at this place for last 20 years.. real ambassadors of homemade Punjabi food! Their cooking is one of the main reasons living this far up north has actually been bearable.

We visited after doing Parkrun in Tøyen. The egg salad sandwich was incredible - so fresh and flavorful. We also got a coffee, ham and cheese croissant, and cinnamon roll. All were really nice. The ham and cheese could have had more filling but other than that we enjoyed it.

After doing some Googling and finding this place we decided to pay a visit.
There’s a huge variety of doughnuts available to choose from and lots of seating. The coffee is truly delicious and doughnuts are some of the best I’ve had. Unfortunately, I had waffled down the doughnut before I could take a picture.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Tailor Made Cafe🥰, especially thanks to their perfect ice matcha latte and the amazing service by Karim. From the moment I ordered, Karim’s dedication❤️ to customer satisfaction was clear.
At first, I felt the matcha latte wasn’t cold enough or sweet enough, but Karim genuinely cared about my experience and was more than willing to adjust the drink. The quality of the matcha latte after the change was outstanding—smooth, refreshing, and just right🍵.
Despite the cafe being quite busy with lots of customers, Karim single-handedly managed everything efficiently and with a smile. Her determination and attentiveness truly set the service apart👏

We were visiting from the states and this shop was recommended to us. They without a doubt have some of the best donuts my wife and I have ever had. They also did an amazing cup of coffee.
The owner, Talor couldn’t have been nicer. We had a wonderful conversation with them and even got a recommended itinerary for how to spend our last day in Oslo.

Talormade serves great coffee and has quite a few vegan donuts to choose from! I ended up coming here multiple times with my husband and our friends while visiting Oslo, which included getting some donuts for the flight back home. We split all four of the vegan flavors offered at the time we dined in to try one of each. Our favorite was the chocolate sprinkle donut, but all were delicious!
Probably the best doughnut I’ve ever eaten - incredibly soft - 100% recommend. Really varied selection and friendly service. Good labelling of allergies.

Looks better than it tastes. The pistachio cookie was very had and too sweet with basic-tasting caramel.
Saw that they had an ice cream croissant so I was interested since i love ice cream and croissants but I was a bit disappointed.
The worker was very sweet and double checked whether I wanted nuts on top or not and I specifically said no. However, the worker was different when they gave me my dessert and there were nuts on top when I said I didn’t want any nuts.
The ice cream croissant in itself was okay. The croissant and ice cream were good separately but together, it was very heavy as the ice cream made the croissant veryyyy soggy. I wonder if they can toast the croissant first and then put the ice cream on top?
The dessert was also very messy to eat. It was spilling on all sides and my hands were very sticky.
Overall, the workers were very sweet and the interior of the bakery was beautiful. The other desserts looked very good but I would not get the ice cream croissant again. Also, the workers need better communication.

I had a pastry and a chocolate mousse. The pastry was soggy and surprisingly didn’t have much flavour. The mousse was nothing special either, not much different from a supermarket one. It also had very chunky cacao nibs that hurt my teeth.

It’s a really nice place with good atmosphere but you have to take into account the price point and for what they charge I do not think it’s worth it. Maybe grab a desert and leave it at that. Can’t fault the service the though the staff were polite, it did take around 10-15 mins for the food to come but we didn’t mind as the restaurant is well kept and we did enjoy the seating.

The pastry I had was the almond cinnamon bun with the concept inspired from the almond croissant. The result 4/10, the dough was too dry and only the almond brought life to it in between bites. The macaroon was 7/10…more sugar less fruit taste that it is representing. So it was not my best bakery experience.
Really nice atmosphere, they also had a good variety of options for pastries and sandwiches. I got the chai latte and the cinnamon bun, unfortunately the chai latte wasn't the best as it was lukewarm and quite plain however the cinnamon bun was delicious. I would reccomend others to go here.
The worst pastry I have ever had....generally Norwegian pastries are not that good but I expected better from this place. They all looked beautiful but the taste was super bad. At least the pastry I had. It was so soggy where it had to be crispy, and just terrible baking....other local bakery shops are much better when it comes to buns and pastries

Backstube Oslo City is a charming self-service bakery and cafe that offers a variety of vegan options, all clearly labeled for convenience. Additionally, they offer vegan pretzels and borek with potatoes or spinach. Despite being machine-made, the coffees and hot drinks are reasonably priced.
Such a cozy spot with so many bread options! Loved the good vibes and plenty of seating. Also tried their delicious soup—absolutely comforting. A perfect place to relax and enjoy some tasty treats

I don't know for how long they've been here, but definitely not long enough to understand that SERVICE and customer care is the major reason for their existence. I was never told that the coffee is a self service concept, and my table was never cleaned. I asked 4 times, respectfully waited a few minutes between every time, but vacuum cleaning the bread stand was obviously way more fun. Looking around for a cloth to clean the table and throw away the garbage, found nothing to use. We'll, in the old days the saying was clients comes first, but not in Backstube Byporten Oslo.

Super cool wine and oyster bar. Fantastic wine selection, including a number of cheaper wines they pour from a tap that felt a bit wrong, but they were still great. Selection of 4 different oysters (although they'd sold out of one of them) . The ones I tried were really nice and served nicely. The white wine vinegarette was very pleasant.
I had the best time here - the oysters were delicious and high quality, and i really enjoyed the wine. The vibe was chill and the bartender (I won't attempt to spell his name but it started with a T) was very helpful with recommendations and was friendly and nice to chat with. I was made to feel like a regular. I'd recommend this spot to anyone :)
Eff Eff is a very nice spot if you like oysters! We startet with the chips, sour cream and caviar paired with a very nice bottle of "cremant". Then we ate way to many oysters. We got the large tasting platter with all the types of oysters they had. And then ordered more of our favorites, together with the orange wine. All inn all this is a great spot. Service is very god and they are super dedicated and knowledgable about oysters. The oysters are really good quality and fresh! And They have selected really nice wings that pair well with the oysters

Had dinner there on Valentine's Day. We requested the vegetarian Set Menu. The starters were pretty good, the service was going fast at first until we had to wait 50(!) minutes between two dishes, then another 30 between the last starter and the main dish. On this particular night it was okay because we were in each other's good company but of course if you need to dine "fast" then that maybe isn't the best place for it. Waiters were nice!
The main dish was absolutely amazing, my boyfriend & I loved it so much we have been trying to recreate it at home, haha. The dessert however was not our cup of tea.

Came for the Sunday roast and it was probably one of the best meals you can have in Oslo. Not a big fan of soup, but I really enjoyed the one they gave me. The main dish was pork belly that cooked perfectly and a bread pudding with vanilla creme was the perfect way to end the meal.
Disappointed by kind of bland food. Duck hearts was our best dish. The rest was okay. Not much flavors and quite shy of our expectations. Staff were nice but kept forgetting our order.

I’m happy that now they have a bakery as well. They have absolutely delicious almond croissant and small sourdough sandwich bread. I really liked the cinnamon bun too. Normally my fav is cardamom bun but the cardamom bun here lacks a bit of sweetness (I don’t like it too sweet either). But otherwise, the dough is very soft and delicious. Their plain croissant and sourdough loaf bread are also pretty good.
07.09.2025: We just tried the sunday roast here and it was truly heartwarming! We had a menu consisted of creamy mushroom soup with smoked bacon, green salad, glazed yellow beets, roasted potatoes, kale with garlic, and roasted chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious and filling. The soup, kale, beets, and chicken were my favs. The soup was legendary. As desserts, we had lemon panna cotta with plum sauce and apple crumble. The lemon panna cotta was very good; sweet, tangy, and mildly sour. This was a wonderful experience and highly recommended especially for small friend groups.

We paid regular visits to the Pascal cafe next door, first time here at the restaurant.
It seems no need to book in advance for a Saturday lunch. We drop in, and it is half full.
The menu is simple, around 6 choices. Nice to have a kid menu. Food flavor is standardly good. The room is charming, which add a bit of flavor to the meal. Ending with some sweets is never a bed idea here in Pascal.

I recently had lunch at Pascal and ordered the fish soup, which turned out to be a poor choice. It’s clear that ordering fish soup at a place specialized in desserts isn’t wise. The portion was small, with just 2 small cubes of salmon, 1 or 2 cubes of cod, 3 shrimps, and a few thin slices of vegetables in clear soup. Despite the menu advertising mussels, there were none!!! The soup was more of an appetizer portion, and while the taste was okay, it was disappointing for lunch.
On the other hand, I highly recommend their cakes and chocolates. Next time, I'll definitely stick to their desserts instead of the warm dishes.

I came across this place on Tik Tok, and my friend and I decided to try it. I can 100% say that I'm glad we did. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the staff. Out of the 5 course meal we had I really enjoyed 4 of the dishes . Overall the dishes are creative and tasteful. The curry soup as add on is a must try. I only thought the meat was not soft enough and would try to improve this. As a note, on the day I was there, there was a lot of smoke in the restaurant coming from the grill (not sure if they had an issue with the exhaust fan or it is always like this). The staff was friendly.
We had a super 5-course dinner, with the pina colada and caramel dessert as a clear stand out. We chose to have the “world famous curry” as an add on although I’m not sure why it was so world famous, as it was simply a cold curry. Nice atmosphere and service. One thing I would comment on is why put comments on your booking, such as allergies, when you have to remind staff before the food is served. Would be 5 star service if she recognized this when she seated us. Can recommend based on the food though 😊
Definitely the best food experience I have ever had in Norway! The food was delicious with superb taste combinations, the staff super friendly and professional. The portions might not be big but they compensate with everything else. Greats value for money as well, which is a big plus in otherwise expensive Norway.
Definitely worth a visit. Already listed in the Michelin guide, so go there before they get a star and it will get more difficult to book a table.

Surprisingly inventive and tasty food. Possibly the best meal I’ve ever had in Oslo. We did the tasting menu + wine pairings. Wines from S Africa, Languedoc, Czech Republic, Savoie, Italy, and more. Lots of vegetables, absolutely delightful overall. NOK 200 all–in, well worth it. (FYI casual decor, no tablecloths).
My only concern is that this place will become too popular before I return to Oslo.

The falafel wrap I bought here was heavenly and surprisingly affordable, like 74 kroner. It tasted fresh, not store-bought. It’s always nice to support vegan businesses, especially when the food and selection are this good.
I was super happy to find the vegan softis and pastries, most of them are delicious. Unfortunately, the vegan cinnamon buns seem to suffer from the problems as the falafels which another reviewer mentioned - they were raw inside. Refund was not offered.

Softis is really good! The caramel was super delicious and the ice cream was really creamy. Staff were really nice & the topping was really cute, next to a park aswell so you can sit outside and enjoy some good food.

Cute little bakery with a few seats to have coffee. Enjoyed a nice break here with coffee, cinnamon buns and cardamom buns. Loved the cardamom bun I had, so good! The staff was nice and there are a few bits and pieces being sold in there as well, like jam for example. Bread looked amazing as well but I didn't try any.
The shop is well maintained with delicious baked goods. We bought two loaves of bread which were quite nice. The bakery is quite old and a staple of Norwegian culture or so I was told.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the bakery Samson in the center of Oslo.
Nice bakery located on the pedestrian cobblestone avenues in the center of Oslo. I only tried the almond croissant, which was very good. The service was quick, prices reasonable, and there are plenty of indoor tables if you want to sit down. Clean restrooms available as well. Great central location.
The first day, we tried the pepper toast, and I liked it because I like it spicy. We had coffee, so you can take your own water. The prices, like throughout Oslo, were very high. We didn't like the kanabule in Stockholm, but the one here was good. The second day, we got a sourdough bread called Ladegaard, which was great. If the prices were reasonable, we'd come. :) The staff was a bit tense.
Probably the best sweet bread in town. You can order to go -which we did several times- or eat there which we also did.
Service is good and fast and efficient. When we ate there it was nice.. not a lot of space but enough to enjoy a sandwich and a coffee. Location is very good and they are open until 8 I think.

The cinnamon filling in the middle is just right—moist, not dry, and not overly sweet.

They didn't have any baked goods without lactose, but the club sanwich was good. Had to pay extra for the lactose free milk, so the total was over 200 NOK for an iced coffee and a sanwich, a bit too expensive if you ask me.
This bakery and pizza house is definitely one of the better ones in Oslo! Not the easiest to get to, but by golly miss molly, it is for sure worth it! The interior is very neat and clean, the outdoor seating area is beautiful on a warm Summer’s day and the service by the staff is "alright" - nothing to write home about, but that’s just the service industry in general around the place here. I have had many a pizza, many a bolle, coffee, brew, you name it from here over the years. I will continue to keep coming back here! Keep up the great job!

Unlike a lot of bakeries in town, Backstube has a lot of savory and sweet options. Coffee is affordable. Food is fine. This particular location has a lot of seating.

Loads of vegan options. I had tasty vegetable bread slice but there was vegan cronuts, sandwiches, apple puffs loads of bread selections and more. Perfect place for a breakfast or lunch. I will visit again before the end of my trip. Highly recommend for an vegan it's all well labelled and you get individual tongs so no cross contamination! Price was very reasonable 😊
Cheap bakery in the center of Oslo. They have different kind of pastries (both sweet and salty) and pizzas and sandwitches. They also have juices, smoothies and coffee or tea. Prices are quite affordable compared to other places in the city center. It is a hood option for a fast snack or light lunch.

Went here to get bread and croissants and they didn't disappoint. The sourdough bread has a nice crunch and good texture. The croissant was large but could have used a bit more butter. It was missing the flakiness of a true french croissant.
Quiet place perfect for an early morning breakfast. The cinnamon bun was delicious, the grains of sugar on top adding a nice twist to the soft texture of the inside. The staff was very friendly too and kindly helped me understanding the difference between different pastries. Recommended!
I went here on a rainy day a couple of weeks ago and sat outside under the shelter of a tree and it was lovely. Great coffee, great vibes- the girl working was super kind and I wish I’d been able to go back again while I was still in Oslo.

Very crowded, although it was on a Sunday. Otherwise the food and coffee was amazing.
The atmosphere here is warm and cozy, offering a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. While the food was tasty, it felt somewhat overpriced for the portion sizes, making it hard to see the value in what you pay. Unfortunately, the service fell short—both of my orders were incorrect, and when I mentioned this to the staff, I was met with a dismissive attitude rather than a willingness to help. Additionally, the cleanliness of the bathroom was disappointing, with visible messes that should have been attended to. Overall, a nice ambiance and decent food, but service and cleanliness left much to be desired.
W.B. Samson is known for having of the best cinnamon rolls with rich butter and fluffy texture. The reason I like this branch is; it doesn’t feel like a branch of yet another coffee chain but more like a neighbourhood cafe. The service is always good. There can be queues in the weekends but the staff is always smiling. The reason they don’t get 5 stars is because of not offering decaf coffee/espresso. Decaf is not a choice as “nice to have” but a necessity for some of us. Probably more common than needing gluten free or dairy free options. And for many people who don’t have issue with caffeine it is still a good option to have it after 16:00. It is not so difficult to offer it. Look at Kaffebrenneriet, Grains, Espresso House and Starbucks. They all offer and they crunch long queues with ease as well. They don’t have queues because of offering different options but because of being popular. So I think W.B. Samson can do the same. Besides the food here is much better than any other coffee chains. Here you get freshly prepared food. Salads and sourdough bread sandwiches are delicious. In the summer they have outdoor seating and I like soaking in the sun. In the winter my favourite spot is front of the fireplace. Thank you for being the warm neighbourhood cafe we very much need in cold Oslo.

Very desapointed. The cinamon roll was rotted and I had a stomach ache all afternoon though eating only a quarter of the pastry. Will never go back to this place.

Tried multiple bakeries in Oslo, but I think this one might be my favourite. They have a large range of different buns and sandwiches. I had multiple buns and they were delicious. The place has a big terrace outside, thus great for a sunny morning or afternoon!

Véry nuce small cafe in the Majorstuen road junction. Very good assortment of cakes and rolls, bread. Good coffee. Eat in or take away. Unfortunatly the cafe suffers from the younger PC home office who can occupy a table for an hour or so while we others try to find a table.

W. B. Samson hands down has the best cinnamon buns in Oslo. And all bakeries stick to the recipe of ideal, crunchy buttery crust and sweet soft batter on the inside. Can't get enough of them. And the coffee served here is great too, perfect combination! Buuut. There is really, almost no space for comfortable sitting by the walls. Not very comfy. But I overlook that because the patisserie is on a whole another level.

At some point Godt Brød had ok bread now it seems the more stores they open the worse it gets. Dried old bread or just terrible bakers. I definitely don’t see it as a food option for the price they charge there should be some quality.
This is by far the worst Godt Brød place I've been to. The staff was not welcoming at all, and not very helpful. When I asked a question, she almost didn't want to answer as it was just too much hassle to explain the different toppings etc. I'm watching her from afar and she is joking around and smiling with her colleagues. A smile or any sort of service-mindedness from the staff would definitely improve the customer experience. The roll and hot chocolate weren't even that great either. Thanks but no thanks. Not coming back here.

My dad came here 20 years ago when they pulled into port! And highly recommended this place. So my husband and I had to try it. This place is amazing. We are picky with our coffee and we love theirs. The sandwiches are lovely as well! All bread is made in house, the workers are kind, atmosphere is welcoming and warm.

I understand they make them themselves so I am sometimes gifted with this really sweet girl who makes me two in the morning which, to be honest, makes my day. I genuinely appreciate that.

I went to this café with a friend today and ordered a mocha. The staff told me to wait in the area on the left, and that someone would come to prepare my coffee. However, nobody came. One staff member saw us waiting but went to clean tables instead, while two others went into the back kitchen. My friend asked if they had forgotten our order, and the reply was that they were “checking emails,” which was very surprising.

After such poor service, I finally got my coffee, but about half an hour later I had diarrhea twice.
Later, I checked the reviews of this café and found that many other customers also complained about poor service, which seems to be a common issue here. On top of that, this is the only café in the area that does not allow dogs, making it even less welcoming compared to others nearby.
They make best cakes in Oslo , personally I love gulrot kaker . Their bread loafs 🍞 are always fresh . If you are gluten allergies then they have options for you as well

Glutenfrihuset, located in the Toyen area, is a relatively new establishment offering a wide variety of gluten-free bakery products. Visitors have expressed their delight with the delicious baked goods and an array of bread options available. Despite its slightly distant location from the city center, visitors appreciated the opportunity to explore different parts of the city while making their way to Glutenfrihuset.
My partner and I stumbled upon this beautiful cafe whilst holidaying in Oslo. My partner has celiac disease and is very sensitive to cross-contamination. We had previously had difficulties, as other cafes advertising "gluten free options" were frequent let downs, with such options being "sold out" every single visit - even within a few hours of being open. This one, however, was simply paradise for my partner who otherwise had been forced to watch me savouring the taste of glutinous pastries and baked goods. Beautiful food, coffee, and service. Highly recommend this place for any celiac in Oslo; a much better option than Godt Brød.

Tried this cafe because of a friend with celiac disease. Everything is gluten free and it allowed her to have more options than at a regular bakery/cafe which was great.
We tried a pistachio roll with pistachio cream on top and the «Worlds Best/Verdens beste» cake. For a gluten loving creature like me, the bun was still good, but I was missing some softness. These were a fresh tray so I don’t think it could have been fresher/softer. My friend thought it was great.
The cake was very light and good. Verdens beste is considered the national cake of Norway, so definitely give it a try.
My cappuccino was fine, but for 59kr, I expected it to more than a press of a button on a machine.
It was only half full but it seemed a bit too much for one person to handle the register, refill of items and cleaning the tables. A few tables still had crumbs and dirty plates which we put aside and brushed off ourselves and for that the service/atmosphere has been deducted as a whole. Still, a great place to be aware of.
Absolutely amazing! Glutenfrihuset is a 100% gluten free bakery and café, and as someone with coeliac disease, it felt incredible to eat here without any fear of cross-contamination. I even asked my fiancé to double-check their website before we went because I couldn’t believe it was truly all gluten free, but it really is!
We stopped in for lunch, and the food was delicious. I felt so happy and safe that I couldn’t resist taking away some extra bits to enjoy later. This is only the second place I’ve ever found that is completely gluten free, and it’s such a joy to have the freedom to choose anything from the menu.
If you’re coeliac or gluten intolerant, I can’t recommend Glutenfrihuset enough, it’s a must-visit!
Superb place! My daughter is coeliac so we sought out this bakery/ coffee shop and visited twice whilst staying in Oslo. Lovely, helpful staff, decent coffee and a selection of GF cinnamon buns to die for! I had a non-GF cinnamon bun in a Baker Hansen and hands down, the GF bun here was so much better. An absolute must visit place if you need GF.
You need to have been here. Extremely tasty food. Heaven for coeliac. Today we even got special service. Fantastic. Since they now have the production another place since they startet at 2 new places, it's the question if you can order something special. But the products are still amazing. Love it.

So happy we discovered Northland on our way back from visiting Damstredet and Telthusbakken. Lovely warm pizza slices and a wide range of drinks (my vegan friend was pleased). I had to try the local kanelbulle and it did not disappoint (look at the size of it!)

I’ve tried a few other places where it felt like the coffee beans had been a little too overdone, but not here—it’s spot on. The atmosphere is lovely too, and the staff? Super friendly.

Northland is a bakery located centrally in Oslo. The bakery serves a mix of baked goods, sandwiches, pizza, smoothies and salads. The cafe had a lot of seating areas and a clean aesthetic. The employees were incredibly nice and our order was quickly prepared. All products are reasonably priced. I would recommend trying the almond croissant!

Didn’t really find much in the food section. Was a bit later during the day, things looked less fresh. Cappuccino was decent but was approximately an additional twenty on top of the more regular price, so I can’t say I’d visit again for just that. Average croissant. Salads looked nice but never ordered one myself. Clean, organized aesthetic and nice, relaxed atmosphere. Was also alright for a quick stop with a friend in the afternoon, not overly crowded. Less nice ending up next to that very loud group of friends though, since tables in one section are placed relatively close.
After 30 minutes of waiting…nobody still came to clean table. Not only mine but other tables as well. The order never came and I had to ask again about the espresso when seeing that other people received their order arriving after me.
Definitely a no go anymore. I don’t recommend the place. Luxury prices and awful place.

Very quietly located bakery in Aker Brygge area. We ordered a cinnamon brioche with a cup of latte. It was really nice. We sat in front of the big window so my little one can watch the people (and dogs) passing by. It’s a good place to have a rest while visiting the area.

We popped into Apent Bakeri to indulge in their delightful cinnamon-sugar buns, a perfect blend of sweet and spice that melted in our mouths. We also couldn't resist trying their raspberry cake, which was both moist and bursting with fresh berry flavor. To top it all off, we enjoyed a glass of their extraordinary apple juice.

One of the best bun pastries I’ve ever had! The dough is chewy and melts into your mouth and the pastry is not too sweet which is nice. This is a small bakery with delicious local pastries. The trip to Sagene is well worth the visit, especially to walk back into downtown along the Akerselva river. The place and it's surroundings are calm and residential, wonderful experience!

This bakery has a truly delectable selection of baked goods. Service is friendly and attentive and the coffee was hot and satisfying. This spot is perfect to meet you every coffee- or nibble needs, or even if you just need to buy some good-looking loaves of bread! They have oatmilk and make a mean latte with it. The seating outside is especially nice, so if the weather is good I can recommend that in addition to the coffee. Have a good one!

I've been here several times and I've always been satisfied. On sunny days, this place truly has its own charm. Expect a queue, especially on a sunny day. The employees work fast so the waiting time is not too long. Still, mistakes will happen - instead of cappucino, I was charged for a latte. The egg & avocado sandwich was ok, but avocado was mashed and the main taste was bread.
I loved the ambient, warm and well lit, and the smell of bread and pastries that gives you a smile. I went for breakfast in a couple of occasion and I really like the croissant with ham and cheese!

Finally a bakery that satisfies a german bread spoiled person like me - not easy to get good bread here in Norway.

I traveled a long distance to sample the donuts at Talormade Paleet and I was not disappointed. Although I didn't have much time, I managed to try the classic glazed donut which had a perfect crunch and snap. The texture of the donut was soft and marshmallow-like, melting in my mouth like a heavenly pillow filled with goodness. It is hands down the best donut I have tasted in Norway so far.
Travelled quite a distance to taste these donuts and I was not disappointed at all. I wish I had more time to try out the coffee and other flavours as well but I was in a hurry so had to pack one for the road. I tried the classic glazed. The glaze had the perfect crunch, snap and give. The donut has a soft and marshmallow kinda feel but without the bounce. More of a melt in your mouth bit into a heavenly pillow full of goodness. Hands down the best donut I have tasted in Norway to date. Definitely heading back there for more!!!

I've been to Oslo twice, and I made it a priority to come to Talormade Paleet again the second time after trying their passion fruit donut the first time. The fruit flavored donuts are what makes it so good - the topping has a really prominent fruit flavored taste unlike most other donuts I've had. Love the passion fruit and the raspberry donuts!
This is a little heaven in Paleet! I loved their donuts and decor. I preferred one with dulce de leche glazing & almond flakes and one peanut butter jelly. Although they were both delicious, my fav was of course peanut butter jelly. But looking forward to trying the other flavours!
2021.03.28: Delicious donuts again; coffee & pecan and blondie were also as good as the others. Also, the service is so good!
Just the Neon Rainbow at the door was enough to get me there, but:
