Praia da Rocha is a bustling beach with impressive rock formations both in and around the water, as well as a variety of hotels and dining options nearby. The area boasts several extraordinary beaches, including Praia do Vau, Praia do Carvoeiro, and Praia dos Caneiros, each offering unique features such as safe shores, ample sand for sports and sandcastle building, and calm waters suitable for children.
Long and wide sandy beach, there are sunbeds with umbrellas for 16 euros for two. Gentle entry into the ocean, a paradise for children, there are also water activities such as catamarans, jet skis, etc.

Beautiful beach with clear water and stunning cliffs. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. A must-visit in Portimão! One of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal!
Zakaria H — Google review
Wow. This beach exceeded expectations. Walked it for about 2 km and loved every part of it. Dramatic waves and beautiful cliffs. Easily accessible and there's a viewpoint after about 1km where you can watch the sunset over the cliffs.
Hanne H — Google review
Woweeee!!! This was THE beach to be at in Praia da Rocha!! We were there in August and even though it LOOKED busy it’s such a large area that it was an amazing experience. To see the beaches, jump the waves, rent a cabana, walk along the boardwalk and eat lunch at one of the beaches restaurants. We were lucky enough to watch the sunset from the best window seat at Casa da Rocha that overlooks the beach.
Margie O — Google review
Beautiful soft sand and the sea was significantly warmer than in Lagos. Just an absolutely long stretch of beach with sun loungers. Bring your own snacks and drinks.
Shar C — Google review
Beautiful beach and sand. Water is not clear and quite a lot of algae. October still hot enough for beach days, water is quite cold so do not recommend to swim. Gets quite windy as the day goes on. During off season a lot of space. Beautiful rock formation nearby.
Duba R — Google review
The most famous beach in the Algarve, the most chic and trendy and the busiest as well ... This large beach, bordered by imposing ochre and red cliffs, carved out by caves, is a favorite destination for Germans and English tourists. Unfortunately, the seafront buildings overlook these same cliffs and somewhat spoil our enjoyment! Festivals, parties, and DJs in season delight a young, cosmopolitan crowd. Restaurants spread along the new wooden walkway, aimed at tourists. Whether you like this setting or not, the atmosphere is there. You can always take a stroll along the beaches, from Praia da Rocha to Praia da Vau, passing by Praia dos Três Castelos at low tide ...
Enjoy L — Google review
I had high expectations of Praua da Rocha, but perhaps they were too high. Yes, parts of this resort are very pleasing on the eye(especially the beach and rugged cliffs), but the resort is just too small. Most of the pubs and clubs are located in one small section and after 10 days(which is far too long to spend at this place), we ended up visiting the same places over and over again. The resort mainly consists of restaurants and apartments. If you are disabled then forget about visiting the beach. There are steep cliffs running along the entirity of the front, and the beach is only accessible via steps. There is no lift to take you down. There was only one road that led down to the beach, but this was so steep that coming back up on a .mobility scooter would have been impossible. Every day on our travels, we would be accosted by drug dealers attempting to peddle their ill-gotten wares . Despite telling the same people over and over that we were not interested, nevertheless, they harassed us incessantly! Furthermore, be wary of the scammers and tramps that lurk here. Some pubs won't let them in, but others have no such qualms. Anyone on their own who gives you a sob story is best avoided. In all, I will not be visiting this place again.

Restaurant
Nestled along Avenida Tomas Cabreira in Portimão, Restaurante F - Food & Wine is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its inviting deck offering stunning views of the sandy shores and azure sea, this modern Portuguese bistro serves up beautifully crafted dishes that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate. Indulge in delicacies like perfectly cooked blackened octopus and exquisite sea urchin mousse served right in its shell.
Had the pleasure of having dinner and lunch here, a beautiful restaurant with a stunning view of the beach. The food is made with so much care and attention to detail and the flavours the chef bring out of their dishes is out of this world. I can see why this restaurant has a michelin ☆! The staff is so friendly and helpful and truely make your experience at "F." one to remember. They are kind, truely care about your experience and have amazing recommendations. Their wine assortiment (and drinks in general) are amazing and they also sell wines at their wine shop. Go here if you want the best restaurant in Portimao!

Food was good but for a 100 euros bill I'd expect service to be good too. We waited about 40+ minutes for our mains. When I asked the waiter if they had forgotten our order and he assured me they didn't only for our dishes to magically appear 2 min later. (Next time just be honest) Then we waited around 20 minutes after we finished our mains for someone to ask us if we wanted desert. They also took forever to get us the bill. In the end we spent two and a hlf hours in there. The most frustrating part was that the tables around us were getting served. Both tables next to us arrived AFTER we did at the restaurant and were served and left before us. I don't know if they didn't like us for some reason but I felt ignored most of the time there. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Rafael R — Google review
Bread and butter starter was delicious. Burrata was creamy, and the roasted cherry tomatoes with it were very flavorful. The ratatouille was tasty, rich tomato flavor in the sauce. My friend enjoyed the steak and potatoes. The fruit plate for dessert was a waste of money; very few pieces of fruit and nothing "exotic" despite the menu description. We got lucky to walk in just before dinner rush, but reservations would be a good idea. Took a long time to get the attention of the staff to get our check, despite them clearing the table, so they knew we didn't have anything left. View of the beach and ocean is pretty. It got chilly as we were sitting outside in the evening.
Katie G — Google review
What a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful outlook. The owner was fantastic, charismatic & attentive. The food was delicious and there are so many wines to choose from. Our only minor point was that after we finished our main we sat for over 30 mins before anyone revisited our table. Overall a wonderful evening and would definitely go again.
Dave H — Google review
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with good service and amazing food. Waiter suggested the wine and items and it was delicious. Loved the lobster and Caesar which was an unconstructed salad. Lobster slices and so tender! Bibb lettuce with condiments on side. Loved the grilled octopus with boiled potatoes. Out of this world and tender! Also loved the spider crab and scallop ravioli in a light sauce, all fresh and homemade pasta. Put it at the top of your dining list!
Pam B — Google review
During our first visit to the Algarve in summer 2025, we dined at Restaurante F. While the presentation and flavor of the food were excellent, the overall service fell short of expectations. On our initial visit, the restaurant was nearly empty, yet it took a considerable amount of time before we were attended to, and the wait for our food was unusually long. When we inquired about making a reservation for another evening, the waiter simply directed us to book online or by phone rather than assisting us directly — an approach that felt impersonal, particularly for an establishment of this standard. The following day we returned to make a reservation in person and were offered a table for the next evening. Upon arrival, we politely requested to be seated closer to the terrace, as my husband is a smoker. The manager declined, stating that with so many reservations they could not accommodate everyone — despite the restaurant being nearly empty at the time. Instead, we were seated at a table directly in front of the restroom entrance, with constant foot traffic from both guests and staff. Given the unaccommodating attitude and uncomfortable seating arrangement, we ultimately chose to leave and dined instead at Café del Mar, which — though larger and busier — provided a much warmer and more professional service. In my view, Michelin recognition should extend beyond the quality of the food to include the entire guest experience. Unfortunately, Restaurante F did not live up to that standard.
Tatiele B — Google review
Very good food and prices, but not exceptional for the Michelin guide. Views are excellent, but you don’t see anything when it’s dark. Wine selection is special! We had oysters, wagyu beef tartar, which had an interesting twist, and then beef entrecôte, and unfortunately it was brought on the cold stone plate.
Elena D — Google review
We hadn't reserved, but came early and were lucky to get a table. Service a bit slow, not coming by as quick or often as I would have preferred. But they were kind and the food made up for it. Wish we would have gone more days, so I could've have tried more dishes from their menu.

The venue consists of a beach bar on the waterfront and a restaurant on the Marina side, both offering a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. Guests can enjoy delicious food, live entertainment, and vibrant parties during the summer. The beach club features saltwater pools and attentive staff, making it an ideal spot for special occasions.
What a find! We were there on a Friday afternoon and were fine getting a table for lunch but it was off peak, I can imagine this place is rammed in the summer holidays. We enjoyed it so much we booked a day bed for the next day. Perfect way to waste away a day on the beach. Cocktails were amazing, sangria even better and the food was really good.
Liv H — Google review
Pretty good food, tasted pretty fresh - nothing to write home about. Service was a bit slow but the views and the atmosphere make up for it - can’t beat watching the waves 🌊. Dessert was a bit odd and underwhelming. I’d say the Food was pretty secondary to the views and the atmosphere in my opinion. We sat by the pool so it was a lot quieter, the beach section sounded a lot rowdier.
Barbora B — Google review
Our experience was good. The food was tasty, was served rapidly. It helped there was not packed with a lot of people. There were many waiters and were attentive to serve our needs and to take away the empty plates. The atmosphere was good with ambient music and very close to the beach , just the restaurant is by the beach, Good experience . From our side we recommend it.

We booked the Opium beds in the VIP area and it was such a great experience! The staff were super quick and attentive, always checking in. The food and drinks were delicious, and the whole vibe of the place was amazing. The pool was definitely a highlight — it’s salt water so you can float so easily, which makes it extra relaxing. What I loved most is that in the morning it felt calm and chill, then as the day went on the music got louder and it turned into more of a party. Perfect balance of relaxing and fun. We’ll 100% be back next time we’re in Portimão!

Spent some quality time on one the the full size sunbed which was €50 for the whole day, staff were very quick to serve, went for the Sushi which was good, cocktails were well prepared, finished off with 2 lovely deserts. Had a mid afternoon Red Sangria which had a lovely punch to it. Sea was so refreshing after a few hours in the sun. The setting is great and the decor and seating is great.
Jerry S — Google review
This place is a must visit!!! The vibes here were impeccable. We rented the opium king bed for the day and it did not disappoint. The scenery was amazing, we had such a nice view of the ocean. Finally, the food was so delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this spot and will be returning.

Gorgeous place to spend the day. Quality food, friendly staff, and comfortable wide sunbeds. Highly recommend the sushi and bao buns. Book the beds in advance however. Can also hire towels for €5.
Johanna C — Google review
We found this place while walking around. The beach/ restaurant is beautiful, we went on a Monday and were able to get two sun beds for the day, we also had a baby with us which was no problem. The staff went above and beyond for us, we booked in for lunch and the sushi was amazing. We had the best day!

Restaurante Rei das Praias is a must-visit dining spot in Algarve, located on the serene Praia dos Caneiros. This seafood restaurant has been serving patrons since the 1970s and continues to impress with its fresh catches and warm service. The picturesque setting offers stunning views of the Atlantic, adding to the overall dining experience.
Cracking fish restaurant, beautiful views, lovely celebration for my mums 65th. Lovely orderves, Monkfish kebabs were superb and one of the best Beef carpaccio I have ever had, just superb
Anthony S — Google review
We started with the couvert, something I rarely order, but it was absolutely worth it, along with a refreshing oyster ceviche as our starter. For the main course, we had pargo (a type of fish) that was perfectly cooked and delicious, served with a simple yet flavorful tomato and onion salad, grilled baby potatoes, and a shrimp “cachorrinho.” The service was excellent—our waiter, Filipe (if I recall correctly), was attentive and friendly. On top of that, the restaurant offers a stunning view of the beach. I definitely recommend heading up to the rooftop to make the most of it. A great spot for both the food and the atmosphere!

What an amazing place. Locally owned and not crowded. We had the best oysters and risotto ever in my life. And the view and breeze just tops it off!

4/5⭐️ Visited: October 16th 2025 (~13:00h) Order: 0.75l Sparkling water (4,50€), Passion Fruit Mocktail (6€), Rei das Praias Aperitif (7€), Rei das Praias Vinho Branco (7€), Couvert (8,40€), Cheese (4,50€), 2 Oysters (7,80€), Arroz de Marisco (59€) Food: - Drinks were very good through and trough, although a real non-alcoholic aperitif would have been nice, as the mocktail was not sparkling -Couvert: - three different types of bread, all very nice and quite different from each other - beetroot cream cheese, a little too sweet, could have used some acidity and a little more salz, but still tasty - two different kinds of fried meatballs (1 each), taste was ok, but they looked crunchy and were very soggy and not fresh enough, lowlight of the meal - olives, very tasty - cheese was also quite good, but quite a lot, considering the portion side of our main dish - oysters were served with fresh lemon, homemade piri-piri oil and tabasco, just used the lemon, very good quality Arroz de Marisco - served on a small chair next to the table in a pot, the waiter scooped our first portion on our plates to present it in a nice way - mussels, clams, piece of crab, shrimps all cooked very on point - amount was not well balanced, the waiter put most of the seafood on our first serving to make it look nice, which we only realized when we later opened the pot for seconds and there were only two shrimp and some clams left - rice could have cooked maybe 2 minutes longer, but it was at the beginning of al dente, so not a dealbreaker - the tomato based soup had a very natural flavor which was complemented well by the boiled seafood juices - huge portion after all of the starters it was very hard to finish Service/Atmosphere: - very friendly staff - vibe of the place is amazing, feels chique without being pretentious, especially when sitting on the rooftop with a view of the beach (not the prettiest beach in Algarve, but nice nonetheless) Verdict: We could have eaten less starters for more stomach space, but apart from the meatballs everything tasted great. The arroz de marisco was very tasty, even though the rice could have been cooked a little longer and the waiter could have left some more seafood in the pot for a second serving. Pleasant experience over all. Rating system: 0⭐️terrible, nobody should eat this 1⭐️ disappointing but edible 2⭐️ fine, nothing special, works if there are no other options 3⭐️quite tasty, might visit again 4⭐️ delicious, visit was worth it 5⭐️ amazing, will/would eat there regularly

Very bad experience, I booked the corner table for Sunday on Friday, but someone takes the table when I arrive on time! I triple checked the corner table that we could get. Then we spent our whole afternoon in the beach waiting for the dinner and sunset. The staff only told me it’s her problem she did not see the notices. I should wait for less than forty minutes. I do not what’s the massage used for? I did not see any services when the problem happened. No solutions, only waiting, the why I need to book in advance? Even I got the confirmation for the table!
王金华 — Google review
Our first time and to be honest a somewhat mixed experience. Booked a table and were greeted by a grumpy what I assume is the manager/owner given the impression that we were fortunate to be let in. Service from the waiters was friendly and faultless and the food was of exemplary quality. Nice cool vibe with DJ set starting at 8pm but in no way impeding on the dining experience. Not cheap and although fresh seafood deserves to be paid for, there are other restaurants in the area that serve fresh fish at more attractive prices accompanied by a kinder priced wine list. Premium presumably linked to the fantastic setting.

Amazing sea side restaurant. The service and the food were wonderful. Loved the oysters and the freshly caught red snapper was out of this world.

We went here 2 times in 3 days. First was a celebratory birthday lunch for my fiance. Amazing food, wine,,service and view. Have to say i was intrigued by the Brandy Alexander on the menu. Hadn’t had one in decades. Drank TWO. When we returned the second time we sat at the top level - just drinks. Yes…i had THREE (i was not driving!) We thoroughly loved this place. NO seaweed on the beach either! Pristine. Best views!

Club Nau is a fantastic beach bar and restaurant located on the beautiful Praia Grande in Ferragudo, offering stunning views of the sandy bay and ocean. It provides a relaxed and rustic atmosphere, perfect for enjoying delicious seafood while basking in the captivating sunset. The venue offers an excellent dining experience with optional vegetarian sushi and beachside cocktails. Visitors can also enjoy chilled house music played by a DJ on the beach, adding to the overall delightful ambiance.
It's one of my faves beach spots in Algarve! Delicious food, fantastic atmosphere, and even better Sangria! Everyone is super friendly! They have live music most of the weekends as well with the best beach dance floor! Highly recommend! Perfect for days hangouts or evening meal! For dinners, bookings are advised as this place fills up quickly!

Club Nau on a Sunday is an epic experience! The live music is always a highlight, guaranteeing a fun time with friends. I've been a number of times, and it never disappoints. The sushi is fantastic, especially the tempura king prawns with kimchi mayonnaise – a must-try! While the cocktails can be a little inconsistent, and the service occasionally slow, the overall experience is a blast. The staff are great, contributing to the lively atmosphere. If you're looking for a fun-filled Sunday with great music and food, Club Nau is the place to be!"

Absolutely one of the best meals that I ever had. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Really good timing of food coming out. Great portion sizes. So many different food choices. I’d highly recommend you not giving this a miss! It’s fantastic.

16.3.25. Sunday. The heavens opened. So much rain. But in Club Nau you wouldn't know it was blowing a hooley and raining outside. The singer was great. The food fab and the attentive help from Ricardo and Esta was just what was needed. Never felt rushed. Loved the night. We went on the Friday before and that was the same. Sunday at the end I had another friend jump on my lap it was the resident Cat. Seemed to take a liking to me . If you don't like cats they will remove it but for some reason it was a lovely cat. Hope to see Ricardo, Esta and the cat again. First photo is Ferragudo from Vitors Village.

Well located by the beach, this spacious Portuguese / Japanese restaurant serves pretty good food in a beautifully chill environment where you can enjoy your meal and cocktails with your feet in the sands 😍 they also have several high chairs for toddlers so it's really kid friendly 👌

A great place for sushi and live music. Make sure you check the schedule and pick a night when a band or musician is on because it gets very lively and fun. Especially in the summer months. The sushi and poke bowls are also fantastic. And they do good cocktails. I’d recommend booking in high season.
Emma — Google review
Staff, so attentative, engaging, warm, happy, professional are just a few of the terms I would use. Food outstandingly delicious, the choice of foods & beers & cocktails brilliant. Then there was the entertainment a young amazingly tallented lady & her band, kept the dance floor filled, outstanding night out, plus there is an extensive outside area too, just dropped a star on what it cost, but put the location, parking, disabled access probably could be a little challenging but they probably have a plan in place to cope with that too, view & sunset breathtaking. So probability should be 5stars.

Forte de Santa Catarina, also known as Santa Catarina Fortress, is a historic military structure located in Portimao, Portugal. Built during the 17th century to protect the area from pirate raids, it offers picturesque ocean and sunset views. The fortress was occupied by various authorities throughout history and is now open to visitors. Climbing to the top provides an opportunity to walk around the battlements and enjoy stunning vistas of the Arade River and Praia da Rocha cliffs.
Beautiful views and well maintained. A little dark and scary at night, bring a flash light for the stairs.

A terrific vantage point to view Praia Da Rocha beaches and the entrance to the marina. You won’t find much historical information here on the fort, but there are many stairways, some hidden by trees, to go from it to the beaches. They are beautiful walks.

Awesome view! If you are in Portugal as a tourist, it is necessary to go there especially at night and enjoy the view of the city lights and the sound of the ocean, during the day it is still beautiful because you can see huge long beaches and water, a great observation deck

When we first approached the Castle, I thought, "It is smaller than I had imagined!" Until you are inside! It is a vast castle! Covering a huge area! Great place to walk around and the view is tremendous!

I visited here alone for 30 minutes and had a really pleasant time. Fortaleza is a 10 minute walk from the main part of Praia da Rocha beach strip. I was here at about 4pm in the afternoon and there was only half a dozen other people. The flower wall is a really nice area I would imagine girls like to get photos for Instagram etc. the views over the marina are really nice and gives you some perspective of where landmarks along the coast are situated. You can still walk up the really old stairs to get to the roof of the fort which is a nice touch. I wouldn’t say this is a must visit attraction, but I wouldn’t overlook it if your in the area of have some time to kill.

Extreme rude staff . The man at the entrance were extremely rude with all the customers who are not Portuguese. I will recommend all English speaking expats not to go there. These people are having discriminatory behaviour for expats .

An exellent vieu. Nice , serviceminded crew. Quiet, they don't wreck your ears with loud music. A glas of vine is half price of what their neighbours charge , when they blow your ears off.

We walked from Portimao to Alvor mostly along the coast, although some paths were a bit tricky, so we took some roads. Once in Alvor, we explored the area and headed down to the bay which was really nice. We thought about grabbing something to eat but felt that all those places seemed too touristy (yes, we are tourists), so we went back into town and wandered up a few streets until we found this place.

With TV screens for sports fans and an inflatable goal for big match broadcasts, the bar offers something for everyone. What a fab place! We went last year and couldn’t wait to go again this year. The staff are absolutely amazing and every one of them made us feel welcome. We went so many times for the karaoke as it had such a good atmosphere but it really is the staff that make it what it is. Can’t wait to go back again when we are next in Portugal.

Exactly what a beach bar should be! Drinks are typical, but staff are anything but! Warm, super friendly, welcoming, and make you feel at home immediately. The vibes here are just fantastic. Love the atmosphere. Lots of energy, lots of smiles, and everyone (bartenders and guests) always seem to be in high spirits having a legit good time. Not my usual type of place, but I have been back multiple times since the vibes are so on point. Honestly one of my fav spots in Praia da Rocha.

Small tiny little place that charges 5 euro a shot of hennessy then tried to charge 4.50 euros for a mixer. Don't understand what this place about ??? Maybe its because its November and out of season but that shouldn't mean they can over charge customers. I like to leave a honest review and got to say it was only 4 euro for a bottle of corona and that's pretty good and the reason for the 2 🌟 instead of 1.

With its booming sound system and pinball table, this spot is perfect for those who enjoy a vibrant nightlife scene.

If I Iived in Portimao i'd come here every weekend. Absolutely banging cocktails for €6-8, everyone's lovely, and a stellar DJ. Plays everything from ZZ Top to early Sepultura, you'll hear lesser known but underappreciated songs from the biggest metal bands, and songs from the local and national scene. If I ever visit again this will be my first port of call. 🤘

Yes there is a rock bar here cheap shots of anything you want local beer good layout music played can be extreme and very heavy! which isn't really to my taste. The DJ basically plays whatever he wants he might or might not play a request... But it's a rock bar which in itself is unusual in a resort like this .

Mourisco Cocktail Bar, established in 1990, is a renowned establishment offering top-notch service and an ideal setting to indulge in alcoholic beverages. Was good but weird to get a Mourisco Mule with cream. Taste was ok. Nice location in the center of Alvor. Always a very busy place.
Tom M — Google review
An interesting themed bar on the main bar strip. Lots of attention to decor which is really cool, especially if you're looking for something fresh and different from the usual Portuguese bars, Irish pubs, or other very touristy bars. I appreciate what they're trying to do in Alvor, but it seems like they want to be a nightclub more than a cocktail bar: blue and pink neon lights. DJs. Blasting generic dance music. Basic sweet drinks. The music is far too loud. It was Saturday night and maybe only 6 other people were inside. Nobody dancing. It was very difficult to talk to my friends and just enjoy the cocktails. I get it if there's a DJ and the place is packed for dancing, but it was a bit odd for a cocktail bar. Very few places manage to mesh nightclub with cocktail bar well. And for good reason. Strange that they police where you sit as well, considering there are no reserved tables and it seems more like a nightclub. We started as 2 people, settled in, and then were told we can't sit on that side of the bar because we aren't enough people for the 4 seat table, even though the bar was empty. We moved to the table they told us to sit at, and no one else came in during our stay so it seemed a bit weird to move people like that. When our third person arrived, we just stayed put. No point in moving around again. Felt a bit uncomfortable. They have a decent size cocktail menu, but unfortunately, they are all incredibly sweet, and most are vodka-based, which also tends to imply a nightclub or amateur mixology vibe. Based on some of the photos and reviews, I thought it would have more refined, balanced drinks. It's too bad because with the theme, there could be so many creative and unique options for a signature cocktail menu that is coherent with the theme, but they're not and it's just a random mishmash of themetically-unrelated cocktails. Where is the Moorish or Moroccan influence that the bar plays on for the name (historically and culturally significant) and decor? Music and drinks do not reflect it or any significance of that at all. But then again, this place is on the strip and seems to want to pull in young, drunk tourists. And kids like that want sweet and simple. So, I understand the decisions, but unfortunately, when I read "cocktail bar" as the name of a place, I expect more, and this just doesn't live up to standards I personally look for. I imagine it's just fine, if not excellent, for most holiday people (Brits mainly, who like super sugary, weak cocktails). In fact, as it is, it seems to attract aging British tourists, rather than the young crowd the atmosphere is catering to. There's nothing wrong with it as a fun spot to hang out, dance, and get a margarita. But if you're looking for a more mature cocktail lounge and the drinks that come with that, this isn't it. At least not on Saturdays. Maybe it's different during the week? I think I'll try again for a better review because the bartender seemed very nice and it would have been good to sit at the bar maybe.
Vee — Google review
Reviews led me to try this place and I was not disappointed. Very friendly welcome from all the staff, great choice of cocktails perfect for pre dinner drinks. Great rooftop bar with excellent views! The drinks didn’t quite match the menu description but still very good! Cocktails are about €13 each as of April 2025 and the Sangria is €37 which I thought was a bit pricey. However the views can’t be beat and I would recommend a visit!

We visited the Skybar twice during our holiday — once in the late evening for cocktails, and another time for sushi and drinks. On both occasions, the service was excellent and the panoramic views were absolutely fantastic. We didn’t go overboard with food or drinks, and our meal for two came to €175, which felt reasonable given the quality and setting.

I was here for the sushi dinner. Amazing view. Great food including lots of veggies options. Great music. However, there was an apparent focus of attention on tables where it was felt they were going to leave a big tip. We had to be proactive to get attention, which ironically diminished the tip we left.
D V — Google review
The sushi is expensive, you can tell its very fresh and well made, however they put yuzu all over every sushi we had which meant we couldn't actually taste the fish and for the amount we spent we were a bit annoyed by it. The Tempura prawns were the best we've had.
Keira — Google review
We had a reservation all went smooth when going in and getting seated. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. They took our orders, the chef even came to answer questions we had. Cocktails were OK when looking at the price but for an old fashioned I would have preferred a better rye/bourbon than four roses which from my point of view is not the best choice. Aperol spritz was good and so was the red wine. We ordered a sushi board to share. Nigiris were good as well as makis and Sashimi. We were not big fans of thr white fish specially as sashimi but it was advised and just not our taste. Salmon and tuna were very good. For dessert we had pancakes with wasabi ice cream as well as a matcha waffle. A good experience with stunning views, maybe not the best place to go when it is very dark as you will missout on the great views!

Great food, fresh tuna! We loved that there is a relaxed vibe: no rush, just chill. Good service and options for everyone.

This is a great spot for a day in the sun. So why only 3 stars? Simply since the food doesnt deliver.... We ordered two starters (tiger prawns & shrimp in garlic) and one main course: scallops with tagliatelle. Besides the fact that one of the starters were delivered almost 10 minutes before the other, they both underdelivered..... the main course saves the 3 stars, otherwise we would have given even a lower grade. We live part of the year in the Algarve and its painful to say that the food isnt good enough here. Considering the very high pricing, i hope Edd sees this and do something about the food quality.... the staff provides good service and the private parking with ticket validation is totally awesome. Please improve food quality so we can return. Thank you.

This is a very nice looking place, with a beautiful view! The pool food is good enough, but the prices are absolutely not worth the food quality. The “special dish” we ordered was extremely small, yet €20 because it had truffle, which you couldn’t even taste, so must not have been very good or fresh. We also ordered haricot verts but got normal beans, and later our pizza “proscuitto” was literally with little blocks of ham 👎🏽 When we were unpleasantly surprised by the special during lunch, the lady just rudely asked what else we expected. Too bad, because most of the staff are friendly (just not the woman without a uniform). Having lunch here was very dissapointing, but the location is too nice and drinks are good, so I guess its good enough to come back (but not on empty stomach).

We live nearby and decided to stop in here for a quick cocktail on our way home from a day of roaming around. Super nice little beach bar with a pool. Loungers are 20 euro. There are also some cabanas but not sure about prices for those. Cocktails are around 10 euro each. Pizza for 20. There is also a proper lunch/dinner menu. The bar and cook staff are really fun and easy on the eyes too, LOL. Parking is available for guests of the bar/restaurant. I am so glad to live down the road. Will definitely be back !
Kym M — Google review
Great place, really enjoyed the whole experience here. Food is amazing and the staff! It’s a beautiful location. The only downside the pool is very small and can get quite full and quite a few children which doesn’t really suit the whole vibe. But apart from that it’s a great addition to the area.
K M — Google review
We arrived at 11:30 and were told that there were no sunbeds available, only the VIP area with a large bed for €100, which we ended up renting. After about 30 minutes, we went for lunch with some friends I had invited. The food was excellent — nothing to point out there. However, from that moment on, the experience became very disappointing. When I finished lunch, I needed to leave with my friend, while my girlfriend was supposed to stay with his wife. To our surprise, we were told that if I left and she stayed, we would have to pay another €100. This is, in my opinion, a shameful attitude. Even worse: I was not allowed to stay with my partner on the sunbeds because they claimed it was full. Yet, at 3 p.m., the area was still empty, and they still refused — unless we paid extra. It is very disappointing to see a place with so much potential adopting such practices, prioritizing short-term profit over customer satisfaction and loyalty. I visited the venue also because I manage 40 holiday rental houses in the Algarve and was looking for a beach club to recommend to my guests. After this experience, not only will I never return, but I will certainly not recommend it to anyone. Thank you.

Boneca Bar is a hidden gem nestled within the stunning Algar Seco rock formations in Carvoeiro, making it an ideal retreat from the bustling tourist scene. This family-run establishment has been delighting visitors since 1969 with its traditional charcoal-grilled meat and fish, all while offering breathtaking sea views from its terrace.
Incredible views. So the food is secondary. It was all okay and prices reasonable. But the ambience was excellent. The wait staff was hardworking with so many people to deal with. Lots of buff guys and women in bikinis (not judging 🧐). The views from the cave are incredible. Definitely Instagram / anything-able. Will be taking visitors again.

Overall worth the visit - for ambiance and views; make a res 4 weeks in advance if possible. Long line of people waiting for tables up the stairs. Views are a solid 5; food is a 3 (mediocre). Service was prompt and friendly- props to the staff for that! We had the garlic prawns appetizer, regional cheese/bread (overly salty and similar to parmigiana), personally not a fan, spicy fish soup in which I do recommend(which was not actually spicy). For our main course we tried the hamburger (which was huge! Fries arrived a bit cold and overcooked/crunchy, but hamburger meat was cooked well, but nothing special or out of the ordinary. I got the chicken salad in which had a creamy Cesar like sauce? The grilled chicken inside the salad was more on the dry side and came cold, not sure if it was freshly made for my salad or not? Take the visit and you can make your own observation, but again, worth the visit! Enjoy your time! :)

End of sept- this place was simply awesome! The atmosphere is a 10/10 on its own as this place is nestled into rock, and just around the corner is the most stunning look out into the ocean. We initially just went for drinks. We were pleasantly met with a complementary wine sampling. We then got a convert platter, then ordered some fresh Algarve oysters after seeing them at the table next to us, and they were exquisite. We wish we ordered some actual food because they looked amazing. Big portioned plates and amazing smelling food. The wait staff were super friendly as well. Overall I would rate this place a 10/10 and would recommend anyone in the Algarve to make a stop in!

We had an amazing experience at Boneca Bar right by the ocean in Portugal. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, with breathtaking views of the sea. In addition to beef burgers, they also serve salmon, chicken, fried chicken, and several vegetarian options. The accompanying seasoned fries with garlic mayo are a hit among visitors. This burger joint also boasts an extensive selection of draft and bottled beers from international destinations.
Just wanted a quick bite with the family... This place is great.. one of the best burgers I've had... The craft beers on tap were probably the best I had on this holiday trip with the family. They have a hot sauce there that they have developed with a local pepper sauce provider... Was so good that I bought 6 to give as gifts ... Anyone in this area should definitely give this place a go.

A really good burger is hard to come by in Portugal. I have found that in general the beef in Portugal seems to lack the flavor of good beef we have experienced elsewhere. Perhaps it's a lack of aging, or simply just not the right seasoning. For burgers the texture of the meat can be a negative, not a coarse grind but really fine. At Burgers & Beer they do a pretty good job replicating a good o'l American burger. Good flavor and texture, creative combinations, and perfectly cooked. The vast beer selection is a plus too. We sampled the Onion Rings, Beyond meat burger, and the Sao George burger with caramelized onions and cheese from the Azores. Service was friendly and prompt, the food was well prepared and tasty, the atmosphere is what you would expect, casual, bench tables for seating, and sports on the TV. I would rate this one a 4.2 out of 5.0

Large beer menu, IPA from Algarve is a must. Burgers are tasty. I give 4 stars because the waiter forgot to bring my wife’s beer and because it’s a bit overpriced.

No frills burger restaurant, with wide variety of burger based offerings. Speciality Beer is on tap and in cans/bottles. Takeaway also on offer of you can't stomach any more SuperBock or Sagres at the pool bar!

Great Burger place! The menu is travel themed, taking you on a journey around the globe with various toppings to go on your burger. The burgers come with peel-on, seasoned fries that are accompanied by a dollop of garlic mayo. Although we only tried the beef burgers, they offered salmon, chicken, fried chicken, and a few vegetarian options. A vast selection of draft and bottled beers from many international destinations as well! Service was attentive and quick!

Although skeptical at first, I really enjoyed my meal here. Awesome selection of craft beers, the burger was juicy, bursting with flavor. Fries weren’t quite as crispy as I prefer but the seasoning on them was great. Onion rings were crackling. Cheesecake had a really intense fruity flavor, with the perfect mariage alongside the cream cheese. Service was relatively efficient. Our waiter seemed a bit bored, never smiled a single time hence why I’d give the place 4,5.

We have been coming to this craft Beer and Burger spot for over 2 years now. It is always consistent both in the quality of the food and the level of service. We are always greeted with a warm smile and lively conversation. The craft beer and selection of burgers are the best in town.

Casa Inglesa is a coffee shop located in the old part of town. The wide variety of delicious pastries makes it a favorite amongst locals. It's also known for its dancing fountains and river views. Staff may be less attentive than desired, but the coffee shop itself is lovely with big outdoor space.
Great service and delicious pastries. The barrista here is very good! One of the better Cappuccino I have had in Portimão

The staff was friendly and good but...The Standard hamburgers was not even a kids menu and no good quality really. Half fabricated stuff and the "all round standard ketchup in bags" which just end up in the Ocean eventually. A sad hamburger and a sad customer +1

I stay nearby almost every summer and end coming up here for coffee ocasionally. They have a consistently bad service and food is just bad. Even simple toasts with butter are made with the worst bread you can find in Portugal..

Didn't get chance to try anything. Waited at the counter to ask about the pastries. To be ignored several times. The server was more interested in eating the food than selling it.

Casa Inglesa is a café-style eatery located near the Arade River walkway. It offers the most outdoor seating compared to other venues, but it never seems to be fully busy. The head waiter is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. The highlight of the menu is the prawns. However, the sangria is lacking in taste and quality. Overall, visiting this establishment is a mixed experience, and there are plenty of other dining options nearby.

The beer hall Beer & Co. Alvor is a great place to enjoy some Portuguese craft beers, with friendly staff and great music. It's also perfect for socialising with friends, as the door is always open to allow easy access to smoke. However, the prices are on the expensive side, and smokers should be aware that they're barely an inch away from death in terms of lung cancer risk! Nevertheless, Beer & Co.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Everything about it is great. I got the teriyaki burger and it was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. Delicious flavour and the fries were perfect too. The garlic mayo finished it off nicely. The service was fantastic and the staff are really attentive and friendly. Reasonable prices too. I can't wait to go back!

Really nice bar/restaurant on bar street in Alvor, came straight of a very hot beach and was nice and cook and had drinks, and good food. Lots of Televisions and pool table as well as lovely out door area. Starts to get busy around 6.00pm with families with younger children.

Definitely aimed at the tourists and émigrés ... but sometimes that's what you want! They have a fantastic beer selection and good to see the local(ish) Marafada craft beers on draft. I'd only had the bottled versions. Must of us had burgers and fries, etc.. These were very good, nothing greasy. Was early lunchtime and fairly quiet. Really attentive service and the barman was happy to talk me through the beers that I didn't recognise (incl. A brewery in Lisboa).

Our new favourite place for a good burger. Can absolutely recommend the Barbeque Burger with the Jack Daniels Sauce. Its a unique and very tasty burger you will find nowhere else. The atmosphere is good, service is great and on the top floor there is even a pool table that can be used for 2x1€ per game.

I avoided this place all summer as it was often packed full of tourists and expats, and a pub like that is hardly unique in Alvor. However, we were out one evening, early in the week and they were open. It wasn't full at all, so we thought, "Why not just try it?" It was actually a really cool time. The staff were amazingly friendly. Young Portuguese guys just chilling and doing a good job. I was pleased to see that 2/3rds of the customers seemed to be Portuguese locals. Live music was quite good. Really talented guy. The place is clean, modern, with good prices for the tourist strip in Alvor. €3 tequila shots was the winner. (Just make sure you don't order a fancier tequila. Just rail.) Well-stocked backbar. Not sure it would be for me during peak-summertime, but for now, it's a chill place to hang out and have a few drinks.

Solid spot to grab a few - the own beers (Marafada) are average beside they have like 2 guest beers on tap and some regional + ones in the fridge. Vibes been solid with a live band and cocktails looked proper solid.

The Manhattan Café is a quirky, Big Apple-themed bar located in Praia da Rocha. The interior boasts a twinkling skyscraper mural, neon signs, and diner-style decor. With an ambiance of exposed brickwork and Americana, this hideaway offers affordable cocktails with carefully crafted flavors.

Absolutely loved this small bar. Just before The Irish Rover, across road in the small shopping centre, straight down to end, left side beside Indian restaurant. I amnot a one for shots, maybe a baby Guinness once in a blue moon. But my god, we tried a good few strange sounding names of ones and I was hooked. If I can do them, anyone can. Danny the owner and host was a gentleman and made everyone feel welcome. It's a unique place and one to definitely visit.

Drinks are fab, cheaper than other places in Praia da Rocha and definitely stronger. The two fellas who run the bar are really friendly. If you find the F restaurant on the main strip the bar is down the commercial shopping alley opposite. My only gripe is no toilet seat in the ladies! Been like it 3 years. 😂

What can I say! In a dying resort, this bar, which is hidden away from the strip is THE best bar in Praia da Rocha! The number one thing that strikes me about this place unlike other bars in Praia da Rocha is that it is clean! The toilets are kept spotless and there is no nasty smell from them that lingeres around the whole place. The drinks are fab and cheap. The design of this place is lovely. I love the designs on the walls. Happy hour is brilliant, a pint of Super Bock for 1.50€. The guy at the bar Daniel is sound! Very positive and cheerful. I will say that this bar is what made me enjoy my holiday the most! I would return to Praia da Rocha again solely to visit this place again! One shot to try is the danger shot only €2 but wise investment! Would recommend 100 percent!

I would definetely recommend this hotel and only because of Maya! Maya is the best receptionist ever! She is so kind, she made sure we had breakfast at 5:30 even though the buffet isn’t open until 7:30. If I would ever return to Portimão, I would book this hotel just to see Maya again. I miss her already!

We had an amazing stay at the Algarve Casino, on arrival we were greeted with such a friendly reception team, and made to feel very welcome. They even took our luggage up to the room while we had a look around and a drink on the amazing veranda with the beach view, was absolutely stunning. I had pre arranged for our room to be decorated as we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my husbands 50th birthday and they made it look perfect, even on the morning of his birthday, they sang happy birthday at breakfast and brought out cake and fizz to start the day. Was so well thought out and planned. We were over the moon. The room was very spacious and comfortable and spotless, the balcony and beach view was out of this world, amazing sunsets to watch. We had a lovely stay with you and look forward to staying again! Thanks so much for everything.

Stunning location! Booked this for our honeymoon- what a wonderful experience. They upgraded our room to a suite without even asking :) The hotel has a private beach (I think they charge a few euros for towels and such at the beach but our balcony view was so good that we didn’t really use the umbrellas over at the beach). The pool area is really good - the clientele is slightly older, which was great for us because we were looking for a a quiet, chill afternoon by the pool. Breakfast buffet is pretty good - try to go early though, there’s a queue around 9. We also tried some food at the sunset bar and it was fresh and well prepared. The rooms are a steal compared to most others in the area for the amenities provided.
Himanshi S — Google review
Lovely location on the beach in Portimao. Stairs down from the hotel onto the beach, these are locked at night & key access. Breakfast selection is good. We booked a sea view room & very happy with it. Beautiful tile floors, and wooden furniture. Not modern but in fairness we don't spend much time in the room anyway. Views are fantastic. Loads of restaurants outside the door as well as the hotel restaurants to choose from. Check in is at 15:00 and they will look after your luggage. Parking is around the corner in a parking station but free of charge.
Renee W — Google review
Five stars? Not even close — it’s more like three at best. The hotel is located in a great area, offering a casino, spa, children’s play area, a large pool zone, and direct access to the beach — and yes, the staff are indeed very friendly and professional. However, that’s about all the praise it deserves. Although promoted as a five-star hotel, it has definitely lost at least two stars. The rooms are spacious and clean, but outdated and in serious need of renovation, reflecting a general sense of decline. In our room, the curtains were hanging loose and did not provide proper blackout coverage. The other two windows had wooden blinds that didn’t close properly either. Breakfast is served in a large hall, but most of the food is industrially prepared, with plenty of variety but little freshness — the only genuinely fresh items were the fruits and fruit salad. In one section of the dining room, there were visible water stains and damage, seemingly from a past air-conditioning leak or flooding. We had dinner there one evening; the dishes were tasty, well-presented, and overall a pleasant experience. However, the bar service was a disaster — it was impossible to get served unless you went up and called for the bartender yourself. When he finally came, he complained about being overworked and said he couldn’t do anything about it. Extremely rude and unprofessional — a real shame for a hotel that aims for a luxury standard.
Denis W — Google review
Lovely hotel with uninterrupted sea views. Our 1st floor sea view room was perfect, loads of room and storage for a week long stay, and different decor from the usual 5 star which was nice! The staff were great. Pool is a little chilly but the sea view from the loungers more than makes up for it. Breakfast was good, a little chaotic in terms of layout and replenishment, definitely could rearrange things to make it flow better. Not a bad buffet but would fall short of 5 star in Ireland. Pool side cafe is pricey as expected but the piri piri chicken and ice cream was delicious. I would definitely go back.

Location, location, location! You’ll love this place, from the moment you arrive and your cases are taken for you, to the reception staff they are friendly and they are there to make your stay as good as possible, the bar is well stocked and a drink on the terrace is a great experience. Walk out onto the outdoor terrace area and take in the whole of the beach, the pools and sun lounging areas. The decor is lovely and some will say a little dated but we both enjoyed the old feel of the place, it’s definitely got a cosy feel to it, there is a very big lounge area by the bar and then you have the outside patio with the outstanding views. Need help with anything like car hire, ferry taxis or room issues (we had 2 small issues which were both resolved in a couple of hours) the reception staff will assist you. The bedrooms we stayed in were off to the left of the main hotel but had a lovely balcony with 2 sun loungers and a fabulous view, waking each morning to the sounds of the sea and the views was such a relaxing experience. We only had breakfast included and I would say it was good quality especially the fruit, fresh meats and cheeses but not that varied across the week, Praia da Rocha has so many good places to eat we only had the breakfast option. Try the casino too, downstairs has roulette and black jack, whilst the ground floor has gambling Machines.

The Alvor Baía Resort Hotel is a modern hotel located in the peaceful green environment of Alvor, offering contemporary studios, restaurants, bars, outdoor pools, and a spa. Situated 1.5km from the city center and the beach, with golf courses just 2.5km away, guests can enjoy the convenience of a shuttle bus to access these attractions or relax by the expansive 100m long pool.
Just back from a 7 night holiday, had a fantastic time at the hotel. The place is clean and well maintained with staff that are very helpful and informed. A special mention to the restaurant manager as we were travelling with our young child (3)who has a lot of food allergies. Every meal time we were able to talk with the manager and have allergy friendly food cooked fresh in the kitchen which was a great help. My advice would be to inform reception straight away on arrival so they can liaise with the kitchen immediately. Pool is big enough for the volume of guests in the hotel, plus no mad 8am scramble for sunbeds! And it has a fantastic shaded play area for the kids. Great animation team and all round good atmosphere and entertainment.

Such mixed reviews for this hotel. The rooms are very spacious but there's no actual storage space for a family (a couple of drawers and about 4 hangers). We were all inclusive however you have to pay for quite a bit. Pool towels are €20 holding deposit, there's a safe in the room but you have to pay to get the code (not sure cost on this) there is also no irons as you have to pay to get clothes ironed in the laundry which is €5 per item. We stayed for 10 nights and the beds weren't changed the whole time we were there. The cleaners didn't really clean the rooms at all. The food wasn't great, we ended up eating out a few nights and the restaurants in the area were amazing, highly recommend walking into Alvor for a meal if you can, it's about a 15 min walk from the hotel. They also had a free shuttle to the beach which was a nice touch! The pool area was great, loads of space and sunbeds meaning you never felt ontop of anyone else! Overall it was a nice stay, loved the area but not sure I would return to this hotel.

We just came back from a 2-week stay at the hotel with 2 adults and 2 kids. At first, I was a bit worried because of the negative reviews, but that feeling changed immediately upon arrival. The staff was very helpful, and the rooms were spacious – maybe a bit simple, but that's a matter of personal taste. The food was delicious, with something new to enjoy every day. The animation team was fantastic – active all day long, great energy by the pool, and fun shows every evening. The pool is huge, with plenty of space for everyone. No need to wake up at 6AM to reserve a sunbed – there’s more than enough room. To get to the beach, there’s a shuttle service that’s very well organized. We were very happy with our 2-week holiday – thank you for the great experience! 😊

I recommend this hotel! When you walk in, the immediately take care of your bags. The staff at the reception are really friendly! More I can’t say: really friendly staff, spotless hotel, lovely food and drinks. Just wished my stay was longer than 7 nights. Love this hotel!!!

Really well maintained and clean. Well staffed, a plate didnt sit more than a few minutes before it was cleared. Constant cleaning. Asked for a proper single bed rather than a cot and it was changed. Things for improvements though that we've noticed in other hotels of the same calibre...some type of clothes line on the balcony, kettles for the rooms, self serve soft drinks to reduce pool bar queues, tea and coffee at all meal times, more hangers, irons to borrow. Move able parasols by the pool or larger ones that can be opened or closed as needed. Lovely hotel just in too quiet an area, gift shop could be double the size considering this

An amazing hotel. Situated in a lovely part of Portugal. The hotel is clean, tidy, and has friendly staff. The food was very good although the menu was a little repetitive, it was still good quality. A lovely big pool, pool bar with a large seating area. The hotel was quiet at night so no disturbed sleep or noise from other rooms. Regular bis to the beach and back and Uber taxi's for other travel, so no struggling with transport. Lots of coach outings available. We went all inclusive. A very good price, well worth what we paid.
Louise C — Google review
The hotel is stunning, very clean, and all inclusive food is fully stocked, food testers test temperatures and quality of the food is great, accommodation for intolerance is somewhat accommodated but it's not perfect... had to prompt the staff to make sure deserts had no nuts in so we didn't die as they are not labelled. The staff on reception where very attentive Paulo was a fantastic receptionist with a permanent smile and a greeting like he enjoys you coming there, so positive and full of life. Easy to use facilities, spa was terrible half of it not working, don't recommend, pool was good, atmosphere outside was great, plenty of sun loungers, staff made this an exceptional place, kids club have lots of activities throughout the day, making it great for kids, holiday reps where also available most days and they where quick to resolve small issues. Trips where easy to book and a free bus put on by the hotel to and from the beach!!! Amazing...

Nice hotel. Lovely food. Night time entertainment is the day staff so its very basic we would have preferred booked local acts. It's very windy and the pool is too large and is freezing. Not even the kids could get in often. Alvour is good to visit and Portomaio. Did one excursion and also the local bus. If you go to the beach the sunbeds and food/drink are not included in the all inclusive price. Won't be going a second time

What kind of pub doesn't serve burgers! Also the guinness taste water-y, not good 😠👎 Also the music is too loud and the singer talks too much between songs. Switching out Estrella beer for the Heineken was the worst decision ever! I also saw a cockroach. This is not what I came to Portugal for.

The Taproom Alvor is a great place to go if you're looking for a quality drink and some conversation. They have a wide selection of beers and ales on tap, as well as some really good food options. The owner is very friendly and offers discounted drinks during happy hour. Overall, it's an excellent place to spend a few hours when you're in Portimao.
Having read Adam's recent review, I was worried that the pub had been taken over and changed. Thankfully, on our annual September return we found everything in order !! Craft beer - see photo - is local and great value. Great selection of bottles too. This year they have Sam Smith's chocolate stout amongst many more. Good deals on gin, the rosè wine is lovely, the seats inside are very comfortable and the toilets are the best in the town. Yes, tables outside are on cobbles so can be wonky. I'd rather have that than generic decking. They are also very good quality - not cheap plastic rubbish. Really annoyed there was no HP sauce though 🤣🤣🤣 Then again, they don't serve food...
Paul M — Google review
Modern, cozy space with up to 8 beers on tap and loads more in the fridge. Pretty decent selection of Portuguese craft beers but not a lot in terms of wider European or international options, but it's a small space, so it's understandable. If you're here for beer, it's probably the best spot in Alvor. If you're here for warm banter with the beertender, look elsewhere. The woman behind the bar was gruff and unfriendly, if not downright hostile to my friend. I get having a bad day and I can relate, but it was a little too much to lay onto a polite customer, and one that tipped on top of being polite. She didn't seem to have the same attitude towards the holidaying Irish and British there but again, I have no idea what her deal was or whether it's a regular thing or not. I hope it was only that night. Normally, I wouldn't give a spot that has such bad service 4 stars, but it is good beer, poured right, lots of seating, clean toilets, good selection, and great prices. It hits the mark for Alvor in every other way except for service. The good news is you can basically avoid her most of your stay as you only really need to interact for ordering your drink and there's no table service.

Bang average small pub in an alleyway off the main street in Alvor. Claim to have a huge range of craft beers, didn't notice this. Best priced (and probably best selling) was San Miguel, hardly a craft ale. Some tables and chairs place precariously in the cobbled alley, so everything wobbled. Great view of a wall. Atmosphere of Brits abroad wanting football, cheap beer, HP Sauce and English everything. If that's your thing, go and enjoy. Take cash, as unlike virtually every other place in the town, they won't take cards. If you're looking for a more local experience, plenty more places to visit.

If you are looking for a place with nice beers and is not a “PUB” like the countless other places in this town. This is the place. Located in a nice alley, sat on the terrace that is put on beautiful cobblestones surrounded with unique old buildings. 10/10 going again! Bring cash, ATMs everywhere within a few minutes.

We visited recently with my uncle and aunty, the bar owner was very nice to me letting me charge my phone up before we went back to Ohlos D'Aqua. A very nice place the Taproom and we will visit again at some point.

Loved this bar! Great beers and hosts. We weren't bothered for watching football this time and moved on but very accommodating hosts!

Cool little bar on a side street. Lots of craft beers .. and they make an absolute mean gin and tonic !!!

I'd normally avoid an English bar abroad, but this has to be an exception! Lovely couple serving well kept, quality, Portuguese brewed craft ales was a welcome treat! The Cerveja Musa, Born in the IPA was a cracking NEIPA! Very reasonably priced and a great atmosphere for a relaxing pint. A must visit in Alvor!

Nestled in a charming backstreet of Portimão, Restaurante Casa da Tocha offers a delightful escape from the bustling crowds. This cozy wine bar is beloved by locals and visitors alike for its warm ambiance and attentive service. The menu features an array of delectable Portuguese specialties, including mouthwatering tapas and fried cuttlefish that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Guests rave about the intimate setting where chefs go above and beyond to accommodate special requests, like their impressive surf and turf dish.
It’s a chilled and relaxing bistro but their food is incredible. The grilled fish is big, and the chef grilled it perfectly! The skin is so crunchy but not burnt, and inside is still juicy and tender. I saw Other propels dishes, all look good and satisfying portion The staff is extremely friendly even during busy lunch time. He explained the dishes to me patiently and recommended me. This restaurant isn’t in the busy tourist zone but definitely worth to visit

This restaurant is located off the beaten track, just outside the main area of Portimão. It has a family-friendly atmosphere and attracts a more local clientele. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. The servers may take some time to warm up to non-locals, but they do provide good service. The prices are reasonable compared to the average in the area. The restaurant offers a selection of table snacks, which is a unique concept I appreciated. I ordered a tasty veal dish, although it could have benefited from a sauce. The dessert was rich and filling, and they made an excellent Aperol Spritz. Just like the service, the charm of this place takes a little while to reveal itself. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Portimão.

This place is a MUST! A local gem, with the most delicious tapas, seafood, and meat dishes. We ventured from our hotel, and while we questioned our choices en route, as soon as we walked through the door we realized we made the right choice. We were greeted by the owner and even though we were so late, he made room for us to have a glass of wine while we waited for the next table to clear. He was so welcoming. The staff was delightful. The food exceeded our expectations. We definitely over-ordered, but I don’t regret any of it. Honestly, it’s such a great little hidden gem. I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to come back.

Friendly efficient service by the two waitresses. Booked easily through the online app. Unfussy, charming restaurant with good food. Everything flavoured and seasoned to perfection. We enjoyed everything and left our plates squeaky clean! Left the restaurant feeling happy and satiated...needed to be carted back home by taxi after over-eating a little bit too much, the food was that good!

I broke my own rule of always trying new places while on vacation and not visiting the same restaurant twice. Well, it is broken now. We’ve tried their main courses during the first visit, then tapas and wines on the second visit. Amazing tastes both times. Probably will visit for the third time, as I need to try out their desserts.

Service and food was great. It was very busy when we arrived but they made us feel like king and Queen as soon as we were seated. Always smiling and yet efficient in their movements. Food was really good and not eye gouging prices. Very pleasant evening. I recommend reserving so your not caught out on a busy night.

Pronuncia do Norte Bar is a great place to go for a Portuguese meal. The food is excellent, and the staff are polite and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and clean, and it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.
Had my first Francesinha, which was really lovely. A meal in itself. And tried my first Caipirinha. Really lovely lady looked after us. Only sorry we went on our last day and not our first. Make sure to go early on your holiday.

We had a lovely experience at Norte Bar! The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They really took the time to listen to our dietary wishes and adjusted the food perfectly! We also had a great chat with them :) As a sweet gesture, they even gave us some pens and a bottle opener. Highly recommend for both the food and the atmosphere!
Uj — Google review
It is an absolute disgrace to present yourself to be Portuguese from Porto and serve such a tasteless, bland and awfully made Francesinha. I’ve had the pleasure of eating some very good Francesinha in my life, so I know what a good Francesinha is, even though I’m not Portuguese. And yes, even in Porto I have eaten Francesinhas. The sauce was completely watery and had no flavor, the meat was cut far too thick and felt like chewing on leather, the linguiça wasn’t real linguiça but some cheap sausage. The cheekiest thing of all is that they charge extra money to share a dish, even charge fees for cutlery and you even have to pay extra if you want more sauce for the Francesinha. Not even at my favorite Portuguese restaurant in my hometown in Switzerland you have to pay for extra sauce or cutlery. You should be deeply ashamed of yourselves. Edit: I find it absolutely pathetic how you try to manipulate the reviews with friends that write good stuff immediately as soon as someone writes a bad review. Dude at this point just make it less obvious cause smart people ain't stupid. Take the bad reviews as an opportunity to grow and better yourself and your services. + Just because someone is running their business for 16 years, doesn't mean they are doing everything right. You're located at a touristic spot. Those who find your francesinha good are tourists who never eaten a good francesinha before or as I said friends that want to keep your business going. Every local we got to talk to after our visit in your restaurant told us they are not surprised by the quality of the food in your restaurant and your place is known for bad food. Also don't worry about me it's much easier than you think to find a restaurant that serves delicious francesinhas and not serve some tasteless stuff like you.
Blerinë — Google review
Just had our first ever Francesinha here and what a treat! Ordered one to share and won't do that again lol. Could have kept on eating. The ladies serving were so friendly and wouldn't give away the secret of their sauce! The bar is tucked away off the main street and at 7:30 was quiet so don't come for a loud party atmosphere, but for great service and superb authentic Portuguese food I can really recommend

The workers are incredibly gorgeous, funny and kind, specially Yésica. It's my favourite place to go when I just want to chill and have a great time. The enviroment is just right and the food and drinks are out of this world!!! I definitely reccomend it!!!! Visit them as soon as you can! 😋

My partner was determined to try a Franceschina sandwich whilst in Portugal and we found this place had the best rated in Portimao. We were not disappointed!! This spot is tucked away off of the Portimao strip, ran by two ladies who are kind, welcoming, and attentive. I urge you to try a Franceschina here and step off ‘the strip’ for a moment to give a smaller business a try.

Vegan poke bowl: a delicious 'poke' bowl vegetable mix with rice, mango, pineapple etc. in a mild curry sauce - Yummy indeed, a great fusion of interesting flavours. Great atmosphere and service (thanks John & Team!), reasonable prices too. Easy to miss the doorway, but a hidden gem in Alvor - Well worth a visit - we've been several times now!!😋🤗 PS. Food 0/10 Location 10/10. The food there is really awful. The sandwich is not toasted at all, Halloumi came ungrilled (worst experience of my life eating a grill cheese ungrilled). Smoothie for 9€ was okay, but overpriced as hell! Beer is good.

Beautiful view and good food. Unfortunately very expensive. There is an option to add strawberry to your waffle for 2€ and they cut a singular strawberry in thin slices (take a look at the images). The two dishes and two soft drinks cost 25€.

I recently had a fantastic time at Sala Cocktail Bar in Alvor. The service provided by Miguel and Gonzalo was exceptional. From the moment I arrived, Miguel greeted me warmly and made me feel welcomed. He was attentive and knowledgeable, suggesting unique drinks and explaining their flavors. Likewise, Gonzalo was incredibly friendly and ensured that all customers had an enjoyable experience. His energy and attentiveness were truly admirable. Without a doubt, this is the best cocktail bar in Alvor.
One of the best cocktails bars I have ever been to. Just upset that I found this place on the last night in Alvor. I would have loved to of sampled more of them. Really unique cocktails that taste like heaven. A must try if you are passing by.

Really disappointing experience at this cocktail bar. The drinks were poorly made despite the strong reviews that had convinced us to try it (even though there were only two other customers there on a Saturday night—should’ve been a red flag!). We ordered a margarita and an old fashioned, which any decent cocktail bar should be able to get right, but both were awful. When we mentioned we didn’t like them, the bartender seemed irritated, so we just paid and left without finishing our drinks. Definitely a bad experience.

Mandala is a top spot for shisha in Portugal, particularly in Portimao, Algarve. The staff is known for their friendliness and professionalism, and the shisha experience is highly recommended. Additionally, they go the extra mile by offering patrons pink fluffy blankets if desired. This place also stands out as an excellent cocktail and tapas bar near Praia da Rocha, making it a must-visit destination when exploring the area.
It is an excellent restaurant overlooking Praia Da Rocha. The food here was amazing, and the service was equally top-notch. We were fortunate to dine at sunset, enjoying the views with our meal. I highly recommend the sauteed mushrooms. They were incredible. The Prawn Risotto is also a must-have. Absolutely prepared to perfection. Finally, if you like Sangria, give their berry sangria a try. It is light and refreshing!

Oriental Terrace has an incredible beach atmosphere! The place is beautiful, with a very cinematic beach vibe. The food was delicious and well-portioned! The salmon was amazing, and the pork cheek was very tender. The only thing I would suggest is that the octopus dish could come with a few more potatoes; I believe it would enhance the serving. However, I won’t let that stop me from giving it 5 stars! The service was attentive, polite, and friendly.

(Translated by Google) It's a very pleasant place with very fair prices. I had a cocktail and smoked shisha, and it was the best I've ever had. I highly recommend it. (Original) É um espaço muito agradável e com preços muito justos. Bebi um cocktail e fumamos uma shisha e foi a melhor que já experimentei. Recomendo muito.

Honestly such a lovely bar ran by such a lovely welcoming couple. All the drinks are amazing and taste lovely and the snacks are also so worth it and compliment the drinks so well. Vanda, the main bartender is perhaps the nicest and most talented bartender I have ever met - she has such a strong work ethic but also makes the time to learn everyone's names and make everyone feel welcome and served when necessary. We met many locals from the marina who showed us that the bar is quite genuinely a community spot for them and Vanda and Nicolas the couple that runs the bar bring people to life. Visited this bar 2 times on our 3 day trip and they helped make the trip as fun as it was. Considering coming back in summer <3
