The Niagara River Recreation Trail is a 56-kilometer paved path that runs from Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie. Divided into four sections, the trail offers scenic views of the Niagara River and the surrounding countryside. Whether you choose to walk, run, bike, or rollerblade along this beautiful trail, there are plenty of opportunities to stop at various stores and restaurants along the way.
The view is incredible! Going down the trail was so easy and you would appreciate every single steps you made.. down the mountain is the most amazing part of it. Going back up the trail or mountain is kinda hard coz of lots steps but worth it! Good for exercise!

Moderate trail level. View after a long trail was just too good. Nice, peaceful and calm near the river. Lush green trees, tiny colourful flowers, clean and clear water just were eye pleasing. Definitely a must try trail. They is ample parking space and picnic tables to rest too.
Sayaly K — Google review
Views are great. Trails is usually well kept and not too busy, except on hot summer days when there are lots of cyclists. Trail crosses the sometimes busy parkway a few times so beware. Nice to have a place to walk away from the city.

I've thoroughly experienced this trail, all the way to Niagara On-the-lake, for the past 27 years, and it never gets old. It's a magnificent place to walk, run, or ride your bike. I highly recommend this trail, specially if you love nature.

Legs will be burning and heart will be racing. All good stuff!! It's a very slippery trail. Make each step count.

Great trail, especially in the fall. Colours are amazing. Lots of stairs, so be prepared to climb down (and then up!!!!). Definitely worth it.

Located in the Glendale neighborhood, Woodend Conservation Area has a rich military history dating back to the War of 1812. It offers panoramic views of the escarpment slopes and Lake Ontario. The area is popular for its hiking trails that wind through the escarpment forest and hardwood and Carolinian forest. Visitors can enjoy beautiful hikes suitable for all ages, with various trails and two parking lots available.
Woodend Conservation Area is a peaceful spot with beautiful trails, perfect for a relaxing walk or nature break. It’s not too crowded, which makes it great for quiet hikes. The trails are beginner friendly, with some nice spots to take photos. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy nature without the big crowds!
Bryan M — Google review
Easy to medium challenging tracks, neat stuff to discover, but really no chance of getting lost. Great any time of the year! Trail running, the best of hiking and running! Mixed terrain, alternate side trails and with access to the Bruce Trail, this conservation area will not disappoint. Add more kilometers when you park outside the gates and walk/run an extra 2 km (return). If you prefer running on these rugged, swampy, and gritty trails to the cool, scenic colors, you'll want to run on these trails! The trails are hilly, rocky and narrow with options to take further wider footpaths on the main trails. Family friendly depending on choice of trails, however, not stroller or mobility aid friendly. Bring water and be prepared for "natural on site facilities". Alternately drive to the entrance but very narrow with muddy roads and be watchful for pedestrians. It is very refreshing from the 'magic' conservation areas and instead take in the rugged beauty of the cliffs. Find Laura Secord's trail and imagine what it must have been like when you walked 30 kilometers in the War of 1812 to warn James Fitzgibbon that Americans

This one’s a bit tricky to rate. If you’re after a quiet trail that’s easy to navigate and great for kids or beginner hikers, it’s a solid 5/5. For more seasoned hikers, it’s more of a pleasant forest stroll — mostly flat with minimal elevation, but still enjoyable. The trails are well-marked and well-maintained. Parking is limited, though it’s usually not too busy outside of long weekends. Keep an eye out for coyotes — I’ve spotted them even during the day. It’s also conveniently close to the Niagara Outlets and White Oaks Spa, making it a nice addition to a day trip in the area.
Christa M — Google review
Refreshing! The air felt so clean and fresh from all the surrounding trees. The trails are somewhat bumpy. Interesting rock formations along the paths. Nature is a sight for soar eyes. It's so revitalizing!
Live L — Google review
Very nice trail along the Niagara escarpment, it could do with some better trail maps at the site as the loop is not clear where the Bruce trail diverges
Gerry B — Google review
This is a great 2.5km trail loop to explore and enjoy nature! The hills aren't too bad and the terrain isn't too rough so it's perfect for casual trail walkers and runners of all kinds! A lot of wild life and pretty flowers to brighten your day as well! You will LOVE it here!
Jay U — Google review
Beautiful hike for autumn. Can make it as long or short as you want since there is quite a few paths you can take.
Cassandra T — Google review
A nice forest conservation area that's a short 3-min drive from the Outlet Collection at Niagara and from White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa. Parking on site is free and is mostly parallel parking on both sides of street/lot. There are a few trails to choose from and there's lots to see. Different elevations so be prepared for a lower and upper level hike as you're next to the escarpment. The views are amazing and the trail we took was a loop so there wasn't a need to double back.

Experience the power and beauty of the largest rapids in North America at White Water Walk, located just four kilometers downstream of Niagara Falls. After a quick elevator ride, visitors can stroll along a wooden boardwalk that runs alongside the river through the narrow Niagara Gorge, offering stunning views of rock layers dating back over 400 million years.
We had purchased tickets before we got there. We got there early and were aloud to enter even tho it wasn't our scheduled time. Very pretty walk along the edge of the Niagra River on the Canadian side. There is information boards along the walk telling you stuff like how deep the water is and how high the waves are.
Tracey P — Google review
This was an enjoyable experience that really gave a close up sense of the power of the water from the Falls. A gentle self paced walk with plenty of excellent photos opps.
Kevin C — Google review
The White Water Walk offers a beautiful and refreshing experience. From the manmade wooden boardwalk, you get an up-close view of the turbulent, emerald-green Niagara River as it rushes through the narrow gorge. The naturally eroded rock formations add a scenic and calming element to the walk. The short tunnel from the elevator to the boardwalk adds a nice touch to the overall experience. While there is some waiting time for the elevator both going down and back up, it’s manageable. There’s also a souvenir shop at the exit where you can pick up gifts and memorabilia. Overall, a pleasant and worthwhile experience, especially for nature lovers and those looking for a peaceful walk with stunning views.
Ajay S — Google review
It's a beautiful short walk just the entrance fee seems to be a bit much for what you get. (Also the reason for the 3* rating) Still happy we did it and I can cross it off my list now. Nice views. Sadly the platform closest to the river was closed off. The selfie point is useless couldn't find my picture but was offered (online by the system) to download other people's pictures. Very questionable in my opinion. Would recommend going early when the sunlight still hits the water giving you the most vibrant colours The wait was long. Clean area. Wheelchair and stroller mostly accessible - exceptions are the lookout platforms.
Jennifer L — Google review
To be honest, this was a pure scam and a complete waste of money. It is not worth the $20 per person fee. They are essentially scamming tourists; it should actually be free. I would never recommend anyone spend money here. There isn't much interesting to see. They claim it's a 15-minute walk, but it's not even 5 minutes, and there's really only one spot where you can take a good picture. I would give it zero stars ✨ , but there isn't an option for that! 🤣
Eldho N — Google review
Cool boardwalk along some very big rapids down stream from the falls...but excessive price for a quarter mile walk. There is a small gift shop where you buy your tickets, then you take an elevator down to the walk. You go through a tunnel and then get to the boardwalk. There are a couple signs along the walk with information, no guides or talks. You spend as much time as you want then come back up. The walk is about 0.25 miles with 2 photo points. 30 mins is plenty. Cost is $20+ per adult and street parking was $8 per hour. At almost $50 for 2 people to go down...it seemed over priced to me. Rapids are cool to see and there are nice pictures. Worth the stop if you aren't concerned on the cost.
Kevin M — Google review
The white water walk was very cool to see! If you’re a big hiker just note that this is an extremely short walk on a well kept boardwalk, it probably took us 15 minutes in total to walk the boardwalk and we were going slow. This experience is all about the view and taking in the amazing power of the water. The sights here are absolutely gorgeous with both the rapids and the nearby cliff-sides. We bought our experience as part of a package which included other activities, which I highly recommend, it made the whole thing much cheaper and the staff seemed to have it down to a fine art getting people where they needed to go. Heavily recommend either doing that or purchasing tickets online in advance, especially if you’re planning to go during peak tourist season. We went on a gorgeous Saturday in June, however we went earlier in the morning and it wasn’t too busy at all. All in all I definitely recommend going to see this at least once if you’re in Niagara looking for something to do.
Ann — Google review
We recently visited White Water Walk and it was absolutely beautiful! The view of the rapids was breathtaking — watching the power and intensity of the water up close was truly mesmerizing. It’s a peaceful and scenic experience, and a great spot to take in the raw natural beauty of Niagara. I recommend coming early when it opens — it’s much quieter and gives you the chance to enjoy the views without the crowds. A must-visit if you’re looking for a more tranquil and awe-inspiring stop in Niagara Falls!

The Niagara Glen Nature Centre, located near the Niagara River, is a picturesque nature destination offering guided hiking tours through rugged paths in the Carolinian Forest and along the Niagara River Whirlpool. Visitors can also enjoy bouldering and a picnic pavilion, as well as snacks and souvenirs. This serene pocket of nature has been designated as an official Nature Reserve since 1992 and provides stunning views of lush forest and spectacular boulders left behind by the Falls thousands of years ago.
I am overwhelmed after my hiking trip today! A must visit place for those who love hiking and being surrounded by nature. I took the river trail, which has some areas a bit tricky. A good pair of hiking shoes can take care of it. About the view, I have no words to describe how amazing it is! the turquoise water, sound of forceful Niagara river at places as well as the calm and quiet nature of the river at certain areas- everything is just wholesome! There are multiple points along the trail where you can see the different nature of the same river! Also at times, the energy of the whirlpool jet riders make it more enjoyable! We saw quite a lot of those boats during our hike. Anybody who is reading the review, I hope you enjoy the same or even more than I enjoyed there!
Puja P — Google review
Easy to drive there with lots of paid parking. Big washrooms at the entrance. Scenic view along the trail is amazing. It is suitable for families, friends and even elders. Difficulty of the main loop is below moderate, it may take 1 - 1.5 hours casually.
Vincent L — Google review
Such a great little hike in Niagara. $8/hour to park, but it’s worth it. Well maintained trails with lots of hikers of all skill levels, plus rock climbers everywhere. It’s nicely shaded also, so it’s a great activity for a hot day. Lots of big boulders and small caves. I like to do the full loop, but the Cliffside trail has some nice big boulders to check out.

Love this place so so much, can feel very amazing nature and Niagara great river view. Highly recommended to visit this place, and can enjoy a relaxing hiking down river side, there is a lovely trail.

The trail walk is one of the most beautiful. You are literally walking along the Niagara river. :) You can see USA across the river. We definitely have a much beautiful side and a better view lol
Anish A — Google review
We hiked the main loop trail at Niagara Glen. The 2-kilometer path was mostly easy with a few moderate sections, and it offered breathtaking views of the Niagara River. The roaring rapids provided a dramatic backdrop, and we loved the extra thrill of watching the whirlpool jet boats zip by. The well-maintained and clearly marked trails made for a relaxing and enjoyable walk.

Niagara Glen - Hiking Should have posted last year but never too late. Niagara Glen is an amazing spot for hiking with some of the best views of the Niagara River and whirlpool. The trails take you right down into the gorge, surrounded by beautiful rock formations, lush forest, and super clear water. It feels like a hidden world away from the tourist crowds. Trails are a bit rugged in spots, so wear good shoes, but it’s totally worth it. Great place for nature lovers, hikers, and photographers. One of the most underrated gems near Niagara Falls! FYI- Please take a big water bottle, its a bit tiring hike. I did see some people rock climbing as well.
Fannie S — Google review
We recently hiked the main loop trail at the Niagara Glen Trails and had a great experience. The trails are well maintained, clearly marked, and incredibly scenic. The staff at the Nature Center were very friendly and helpful. The center itself is well-designed and maintained. I did notice a few plastic bottles littered along the path. It's a request to all the visitors to be respectful of the forest and help preserve it for everyone. We only explored the main loop trail this time, but we’re looking forward to coming back and checking out the other trails.

The park provides stunning views of the fiery hues of Niagara in fall and features less crowded paths compared to other tourist spots. Visitors can explore the Devil's Hole Trail, which leads to lookouts over the Niagara Gorge and close encounters with whirlpools and rapids along the river.
What a beautiful view and scenery. I absolutely loved and enjoyed this place and it’s a perfect spot for trekking and hiking with ur furry buddies. Also u may need a pair of sneakers if trekking for the trail is a little rocky.
Eru—n — Google review
Great hike. We started by descending the Westerns stairs. When we got to the bottom we turned right (east) instead of left because there was no signs. We ended up going down a tight trail with a lot of spiders and poison ivy to eventually make it to a dead end. All which is fine, we are outside on a hike, and took a wrong turn, I just wish there was an extra sign at bottom to point to the correct trail. Once on the correct trial, we found the devil's hole and it was really cool. Deep dark, cool air, water coming out. Very cool to see (for a rock formation). There was 1 section of the trail were it was extremely narrow footing (see video) and if you fell you would end up in the rapids. Little sketchy so I wouldn't bring kids on this hike, too dangerous.
Harlan F — Google review
FREE park and free parking ! Access the lower trail via 300+ stairs . Lower trail is rated moderate & does not provide cell service. Watch your footing, some spots can get sketchy. Lots of locations to pause & view the water/rapids . Higher trail is easy with crushed stone and has cell service . Large snakes 🐍. To the left brings you to whirlpool park / trails .
Sarah L — Google review
Beautiful short trail from the parking down to the river bed, but be prepared as they are all stone steps so can be strenuous on the knees. We also took the side trail to explore the cave, the stone steps there have eroded so they were all slanting sideways.
D ( — Google review
I went here with my two teenage kids it's about a mile Trek to the hole in the mountain. The air coming out of the holes probably 60° it's amazing when you've walked a mile in the summer heat. The trek back is really difficult you have to walk down a mountain on steps and through a trail to get there and when you leave you have to go back up all those steps I walk average of 9 miles a day and this was very difficult I had to stop several times to catch my breath. It's worth it if you are active enough to track a couple miles and climb up and down, but if you have any issues with your body or climbing, I would suggest skipping it
Bryan S — Google review
A really cool state park with a stairway down to the Niagara River! The views are quite stunning. Be prepared for quite the exercise walking back up the stairs!
George F — Google review
Beautiful hiking trails, but does get a little tight in some places, with Rocky paths along the way. I think they call it Devils Hole because all the stairs involved are certainly the Devils work, lol. We went down at Devils Hole State Park and walked to Whirlpool State Park . Beautiful views, mostly shaded pathway, definitely wear the correct shoes if you go.
Jenny B — Google review
Lots of stairs but don't t let that keep you away. Views of the whirlpool spectacular and trail parallels the river. Lots of shade to keep us cool on an 80 degree daf, and we were able to see the jet boats and the tram. Highly recommend.

Whirlpool Trail is a 2.1 km rocky and uneven path that takes about 43 minutes to complete. It leads from the Niagara Gorge slopes to the banks of the Niagara River, offering stunning views of the turbulent Niagara Whirlpool surrounded by beautiful forest scenery. The trail includes steep climbs, stairs for steeper sections, and small bridges along the way.
It's a refreshing place to slap you back into what matters, go breathe the fresh air and beauty of nature, get some exercise, shake off the social media influence from your brain. Take a gander and ponder the canvass of the good Lord's creation. The whirlpool trail will ease your senses. The outdoors helps our mental and physical health.

This hike is a great opportunity for people looking to descend the hillside to the Niagara shoreline. The hike is mainly composed of stairs, with a few sections of trail. Overall, a great hike. Directions: From the Fisherman's Parking lot, continue walking right until you see the opening and sign. Continue down the stairs to the right, not the trail on the left. Difficulty: I wouldn't call this hike difficult; however, because the trail is stair-based, I would be vigilant about your footing. Time and Distance: Our group completed the hike, including time spent at the shoreline, in about 50 minutes. The trail itself measures approximately 1.4 kilometers (0.9 miles) round trip.
Pfefer J — Google review
Great hike from the trail head. The steps help get you get a good portion of the way down before it turns into natural trails. The water ebbs and flows so don’t stand too close unless you want your feet wet. Looks dangerous to swim in considering the swirling currents. Good luck on that hike back up!
David — Google review
We visited the Niagara Glen and began our hike on the clearly marked Glen trails before continuing onto the Whirlpool Trail. Both sections were well marked, but there was a distinct difference between them. The Glen portion was easier to manage, especially with our three young children (ages nine, seven, and five), and is better suited for beginners or casual hikers. It was fascinating to see the massive boulders scattered throughout and to watch people bouldering along the way. The Whirlpool section was a different experience entirely. It was far more challenging but also astonishingly beautiful. The huge escarpments, powerful rapids, and the whirlpool itself were awe-inspiring. This part of the hike included climbing rocks, walking through small waterfalls, crossing jagged rock beds, and keeping a close eye on the trail markers. Our total hike was just over five kilometres. The kids found parts of it difficult but managed to finish, and even they described it as awesome by the end. Despite the effort required, the combination of rugged terrain and breathtaking scenery made it an unforgettable experience.
Dale B — Google review
Always an amazing hike, anytime of year. Appropriate for moderate to quite-fit able bodied individuals. Wear proper sturdy hiking footwear, watch where you're walking and always be cautious as conditions may change (loose rocks, mud, ice etc). Rewarding to experience the colours of nature, scents, bird song and occasional animal sighting (chipmunk, deer, etc) Constant nearby helicopter take off and landing every 5-7 minutes is a tedious annoyance.
Traveling R — Google review
We didn’t do the whole trail, we plan to come back and do the entire loop. We accessed the trail from a parking lot and followed the steps down to the water. The trail and steps are a challenge and quite the workout. The views are well worth the challenging climb!
Dylan C — Google review
This trail was not easy. I needed water for sure so happy I brought that and a snack with two kids. We did after the hike down spend about a hour in the water. The hike back up was not easy for me but the kids ran up. Note if you are coming from aero car you can walk to the trail or take the bus to golf course adventure zone and walk back. It took about 2 hours total.
Angela G — Google review
A hidden gem to see the whirlpool! The trail is quite rocky, so not great for strollers, but it’s manageable for toddlers to hike back and forth. We spotted 3 snakes on the trail—long pants and proper shoes are a must!

The Trailhead Niagara Gorge Hiking Trail offers stunning scenery and phenomenal viewpoints, making it perfect for outdoor exercise. The 6.2-mile trail meanders along the rushing river and falls, providing a glimpse of rapids, rock formations, and whirlpools below.
One of the most scenic trails that we’ve ever been on. Perfect for a long walk or bike ride. We rode a rented city bike up to the Whirlpool State Park from Goat Island. Parts are gravel and parts are a concrete sidewalk depending on which way you go. You could stay on the sidewalk all the way if you wanted though.
J. S — Google review
Did not feel safe alone. It could be nicer. The northern part of the park includes the Gorge Trail. The trail itself is a nice 400ft descent with views along the river. Parts of the trail are strewn with rubble from the rocks above but otherwise is a wide easy path. While the views and trail are nice, there are piles of trash, liquor and beer containers, graffiti and is overall quite dumpy. the worst was people smoking meth both times I hiked this trail, despite a police station a quarter of a mile away.
Phil J — Google review
First time stopping to see the Niagara Gorge View, and it was so beautiful! We went in the peak of fall to see the foliage, and it did not disappoint. The water is extremely blue and is beautiful to see, especially with the fall colors in the trees! There are plenty of different trail entrances that have stairs that lead you down, but be aware there are a lot of stairs! So if you find stairs to be difficult, then it may not be the best for you. (The view from the top is just as good) There was a small lot to park right by the trailhead we went too but I'm not sure if every trailhead has one. It wasn't too busy but it was a Monday! If you love a good view and nature and have never seen the Gorge view or ever walked the trail, I would highly recommend it!

Amazing views! You can get really close to Niagara Falls this way. There are some stairs to go down. There comes a point where there is an upper and lower trail. I took the lower but they both seem to have beautiful views. The lower trail is very narrow and potentially dangerous. There comes a point where you come to a building that has some concrete stairs. If you go past the building and a platform, the trail should continue. It is not marked though. There's a lot of debris down there...cars that have probably fell down there, amongst other things. Still pretty cool!

The rim trail is tidy and can be used also with trolleys. The path down has lose stone and the Schoellkopf part is a dead end and rather dirty. I had to take the stairs at the border crossing, because the path further was closed. There was no pre announcement.

Gorgeous views on this hike, the trail was an easy walk and well worth the time for the scenery. Seeing the tall rock walls as we neared the water’s edge was breathtaking.

Very beautiful trail, lots of detours to view the water.

These trails are simply breathtaking! You have to check out the remnants of the shoelkopf power station. The elevator is very handy if you want to appreciate the views without the hike!

Whirlpool State Park offers breathtaking views of the Niagara Whirlpool and the emerald green Niagara River. The park is a hiker's paradise, with extensive trails that lead to stunning vistas of the whitewater whirlpool and tree-covered gorge. Visitors can enjoy picnicking on the upper level, fishing, and exploring various safe access points to the river's edge. The park is also an ideal spot for capturing beautiful fall foliage and photographing the vibrant blue waters of the Niagara River Rapids.
Almost as beautiful as Niagara Falls! Highly recommend taking the stairs down to the lower path if you are reasonably fit. To find the stairs walk 5-10 minutes to the right of the parking lot going east towards the dam. I promise they are there. We did struggle to find them at first. 😁

I love this park. I have visited in all seasons and it never disappoints. The view of the water is amazing. Some days it doesn't even look real. As a bigger person new to hiking I like that this park offers variety. The easier paths are still a bit inclined but nothing too scary. The more hill dominated walks are still nice if you want a challenge. Or if you are feeling crazy there is a mile or so flight of stairs down to the bottom of the gorge. The going down part is fine but coming back up made me rethink all of the moments that led me there. It was worth it as a fitness mile stone none the less. Even with several breaks on the way back. This park never gets old. There is a nice play area for kids, and a paved biking path that I can wait to try once I pick up cycling. The atmosphere is peaceful and its fun to see people enjoying the water in boats or on the lifts in the summer. If picnicking is your thing there are tables and plenty of places to lay out blankets. Lots of parking and its free as well so that's a plus.

This was a really nice park. We had a very enjoyable hike with absolutely beautiful views. We went down the stairs 😳 to the bottom of the gorge and back. The trail was a mix of smooth and flat and some technically difficult spots where you had to climb over rocks. Overall it was a moderatly difficult hike.

Whirlpool State Park is the second best park after Niagara State Park (to me) there. Niagara Gorge Rim Trail is an amazing hiking place across the Niagara river, moderate trekking (stairs to go down and up to the lower gorge). Best whirlpool rapids view is toward 4.3 mile to Fall direction (in the pic), 15/20 min walk (don't need to walk entire trail for best rapid view). 1.9 mile trail is calm and peaceful walk along the river, some places have narrow pass with no guard rails.

Whirlpool State Park is an absolute gem near Niagara Falls! The views of the swirling whirlpool and the turquoise river below are breathtaking. The trails are well-marked and offer a mix of easy walks and more challenging hikes down closer to the water. It’s peaceful, less crowded than the main Niagara Falls area, and perfect for anyone who enjoys nature, photography, or just some quiet time outdoors. A great place to relax, take in the scenery, and appreciate the beauty of the Niagara River Gorge!
R H — Google review
This is a great spot to appreciate the Niagara river gorge, the sheer power of the river, and to take in the beauty of what nature has provided for us to enjoy. The unobstructed views of the river and the whirlpool are spectacular. Leave some time to enjoy the paved walking path that parallels the river.
Alan L — Google review
Great spot away from the crowds at Niagara Falls. We rode a rented city bike from Goat Island here. Park provided a beautiful view of the river rapids and a view across to Canada. There is also good view of the Canadian Great Wolf Lodge’s gondola that crosses over part of the river. There are large clean unisex restrooms there with large stalls for privacy. There is also a large parking area and a stop for the free Niagara Shuttle.
J. S — Google review
Interesting place to see because of the way the Niagara makes a sharp turn to the right. The turn in the Niagara and the speed of the water is what creates the whirlpool. There’s a cable ride over the whirlpool if you’re on the Canada side. You can also take a whirlpool jet boat ride on the Niagara but the site for boarding for the ride is a few miles down stream from the actual whirlpool. Looks like fun but we didn’t get a chance to try it.

Dufferin Islands Nature Area, located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, is a serene 10-acre park featuring small islands connected by wooden footbridges and paths. It hosts the Winter Festival of Lights from November to January, showcasing 3 million lights along the Niagara Parkway. This pet-friendly area offers a peaceful escape just minutes away from the bustling Falls. The Dufferin Islands Trail provides a unique experience during the festival with an average completion time of 46 minutes.
Just a hop from Niagara Falls, Dufferin Islands is the whimsical hideaway you didn’t know you needed. This oasis of mini islands and charming footbridges feels like a nature playground, complete with cheeky squirrels and birds that could star in their own musical. Wander the winding trails, cross the quaint bridges, and find perfect picnic spots hidden among the trees. The ducks here are practically locals, waddling up to say hello—just remember they’re on a strict diet! You also have carps looking at you from the water. With serene ponds, gentle streams, and a playful spirit, Dufferin Islands is where Mother Nature lets her hair down. It’s a refreshing, little escape that’s perfect for a quick adventure. So next time you’re near Niagara, skip the crowds and embrace the playful charm of Dufferin Islands. It’s nature’s way of winking at you.

Nice quaint island with some trails on the property. Makes for a nice afternoon stroll. Parking is $5 an hour which is ample time for the space. Lots of geese and ducks in the water and birds on the trails. Located across the street from the falls and rapids it makes for a nice diverse walk.

Niagara Glen is a nature reserve with 4 km of rugged trails in the Niagara Gorge, offering stunning scenery and million-year-old rock formations. The area is home to endangered plant and animal life, as well as marine fossils. Hikers can explore eight fascinating trails along the edge of the Niagara River, experiencing the rush of the river and the ancient Niagara Whirlpool.
Beautiful Park. You can do hike, walk, party and other activities too. You will see beautiful falls water and both side of USA and Canada..

Have been twice, a gorgeous hike! I have completed the whirlpool trail, the river trail , the main loop, the bouldering trail and the red trail(sorry forgot the name. ) most family friendly/beginner friendly is the main loop and river trail. The red trail is intermediate, and the whirlpool and bouldering trail are more difficult. My favorite trail is whirlpool!

Great place to hike! It was quite cloudy and wet when we went, because it had just been raining, but it was still a lot of fun! You get a great video of the river and see some rapids. Some parts of the trail are a bit challenging but not too bad overall. Some people go bouldering here too, by the looks of the chalk on some of the rocks!

This place was absolutely beautiful. Wife and I visited while on our honeymoon and don't regret it one bit. There were hardly any other people around during our hike through the forest and the constant crashing of the falls could be heard. It was serene and calming, a really wonderful walk to take, definitely one to visit if you're visiting Niagara!

We came here to try the main loop trail with my family and what a lovely day we spend here at Glen Niagara. The trail was of moderate difficulty and would love to keep coming back here. Honestly the trail was not easy and needs a lot of stamina but we finished it surprisingly with my 6 year old. It took us around 3 hrs to finish. Beautiful views of the Niagara river and we do get a chance to dip our legs into the water too. We saw lily fossils, a deer and lots of flora and fauna. Definitely recommend for anyone who's up for the challenge. Please like my reviews if you find my review helpful.

The main trail can be slightly challenging as it can be steep and slippery at parts, but still manageable overall. There are markings on the trees so that you can stay on the trails and not get lost. The main trail also brings you close to the Niagara river, and the view is awesome!

I had a great experience hiking this trail, you have the main loop but there are also plenty of other side trails you can venture off onto and explore. You see and a little of everything from rocks & boulders to green rain forest type areas. You get great views of the niagara river along the way as well.

The Laura Secord Heritage Trail is a part of the Bruce Trail, which is Canada's oldest marked footpath and spans approximately 900 kilometers. The trail commemorates Laura Secord's historic journey and covers 32 kilometers. It features blue and white markers to guide hikers through beautiful scenery, including the Laura Secord Homestead. Despite its short length, it offers a pleasant walk with interesting historical significance.
Beautiful trails. Lots to see. Interesting hike I totally recommend it. Entrance a bit confusing. Follow the trail and it will lead you to Laura Secord Homestead. It’s well maintained. Interesting historic fact. Check out opening house, I think it’s closed during off season

Not really much to see, but it was nice to still get out. There is plenty of parking across the road from the trail head. The beginning of the trail is muddy!! But the mud does stop! It dosn't look like much of a trail, more of a hill; but once you start it definitely changes. There are blue and white markers so you don't get lost. No picnic tables or washrooms. Just trees, a abandoned tower, and a quarry. We got a little distracted and spent about 2 hours there, but if you aren't puttering along it would take about an hour. Moderate amount of people on the trail, very quite spot minus the shots to scare birds away from the feild nearby. Also some signs of homelessness but not sketchy and somewhat hard to spot if you aren't really looking for that... Not alot pf garbage on the trail either 🫶I added a few photos. Enjoy your hike!!

Only have time to take a few photos of the Brock's Monument, didn't have time to see the whole park. I can see good children playground, beautiful flowers and trees, over looking the Niagara River . Should be very beautiful in the Falls.

Upper Whirlpool Trails, located along the Niagara River Whirlpool in Canada, offers a stunning and less crowded alternative to the nearby Niagara Falls area. The well-maintained trail provides breathtaking views of lush greenery, towering trees, and the sound of birds chirping. Hikers can expect a variety of terrains, from gentle slopes to challenging inclines, making for an exciting adventure. The best time to visit is during autumn when the vibrant foliage contrasts against the turquoise river.
It took 40mins to go down and come up. We didn't stayed for for long. It's a nice view and we experienced some deer as well small Easter milk snake. The water smell though I dont know why. But other then that the trail was fun. The parking is little expensive though $8/hour. So we parked little further where is no pay. They have nice wooden stair to go down and come up.

One of the best trails near Toronto. Amazing views of the huge rocks and the Niagara River. The part from the parking lot to the whirlpool River is moderate difficulty but then the part from the whirlpool beach to the Niagara Glen trails is difficult with very narrow sections between the rocks but it is very rewarding.

It’s a great place to hike on a trail with families, friends and even kids. It felt like the force of the water and the sound of the nature made us too excited to see whats happening down there. The trial is maintained and is easier to walk down but to climb up I had found it difficult but it was great experience too. I did the trail during summer, fall and a few weeks before too. All of them gave me a different experience on how beautiful the trial is. It has a stunning view during the daytime and during evening I did saw a lot of people fishing over there and i do think it is a great place for fishing. I had even thought of fishing over there. Overall I would recommend someone who is visiting Niagara Falls to come over here and experience the magnificent beauty of the Whirlpool. The parking is limited and there is a fee for it depending on how long are you gonna stay.

If you can handle about 100 steps up and down (believe total elevation change was about 360 feet), this trail is well worth it! Not a hard hike, just a bunch of steps and a little mud- definitely take good shoes! The trail I took went north along the whirlpool, crossing rocks with water falling over. Overall, many great views and a decent/short exercise. Highly recommend.... took me about an hour Parking at the lot was about $5 Canadian per hour
John — Google review
I kind of expected it to be a longer trail but going down the lake will only take you less than 10mins. But it was a good quick trek. The view is okay and you'll literally see a whirlpool. It's just a challenging one from the start because of the steep steps but it's overall an easy trail.
Jaymee — Google review
Wonderful trail that was worth the effort for the view. Been coming to the falls for years and never did this trail. Was very peaceful and the trees were turning for autumn which was beautiful. Took about 45 mins each way. Make sure you have good shoes on. The stairs were brutal on the way up but took breaks. Go to the right of the parking lot to find the trail. Also don't listen to the reviews that say parking is free because it was NOT. Should have looked at the parking machine myself. Came back to a $30 ticket.

Notable points of interest include Terrapin Point for stunning views of Horseshoe Falls, Luna Island for a top view of American Falls, and the Cave of the Winds featuring a staircase to Hurricane Falls.
I visited here in July 2023 and it was really nice to see. One can get quite close to the Canadian falls from the look out point. Lots of great viewing areas and many places for one to sit. The Majestic Power and Enduring Allure of Niagara Falls Niagara Falls, a name synonymous with awe-inspiring natural beauty and immense power, is not merely a waterfall but a complex geographical, historical, and cultural phenomenon. Straddling the international border between the United States and Canada, these iconic cataracts represent a breathtaking spectacle of nature's raw force and an enduring symbol of geological evolution, human endeavor, and shared heritage. To understand Niagara Falls is to embark on a journey through millennia of glacial movements, centuries of human interaction, and a rich tapestry of stories, legends, and engineering marvels. Its perpetual roar, the mists that rise like ethereal clouds, and the sheer volume of water thundering over its precipice have captivated explorers, artists, daredevils, honeymooners, and engineers alike, cementing its status as one of the world's most renowned natural wonders. Geologically, Niagara Falls is a relatively young formation, a testament to the powerful forces of the last ice age. Approximately 18,000 years ago, as the Wisconsin Ice Sheet began its retreat, vast quantities of meltwater carved out the Great Lakes basin. The Niagara River, which connects Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, began flowing over the Niagara Escarpment, a steep ridge composed of resistant Silurian dolostone capping softer shales and sandstones. The differing rates of erosion between these rock layers are the fundamental reason for the Falls' existence and its continuous, albeit slow, recession. The harder caprock resists erosion more effectively than the softer layers beneath, leading to the undercutting of the shales. Eventually, the unsupported dolostone collapses, causing the Falls to recede upstream. This process, which has seen the Falls migrate nearly seven miles from its original position at Queenston-Lewiston, continues today, albeit at a significantly reduced rate due to human intervention. The Falls themselves consist of three distinct sections: the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls (separated from the American Falls by Luna Island), and the Horseshoe Falls (also known as the Canadian Falls). The Horseshoe Falls, accounting for approximately 90% of the Niagara River's flow, are the most powerful and visually dramatic, forming a massive crescent shape that plunges into the Niagara Gorge. The American and Bridal Veil Falls, while smaller in volume, offer a different kind of beauty, with their fragmented, misty cascades. The sheer volume of water—around 3,160 tons of water per second during peak flow—is staggering, making it one of the highest flow rate waterfalls in the world, despite not being among the tallest. This immense hydraulic power has, over time, become a focal point for human ingenuity. The human history of Niagara Falls is as rich and dynamic as its geology. Indigenous peoples, particularly the Iroquois and the Neutral Nation, inhabited the Niagara region for centuries before European arrival. They revered the Falls, incorporating its power and beauty into their spiritual beliefs and oral traditions. For them, the thunderous sound and the ever-present mist were integral parts of their world, signifying both immense power and the sacred. Their knowledge of the land, including the portage around the unnavigable Falls, was crucial for early European explorers and traders. European discovery of Niagara Falls is often attributed to Father Louis Hennepin, a French missionary, who described it in his 1678 writings, though it's likely other European explorers had encountered it earlier. Hennepin's vivid accounts helped to introduce the wonder of Niagara to the wider European world, sparking curiosity and drawing increasing numbers of visitors. As the 18th and 19th centuries progressed, the Falls transformed from a remote natural marvel into a burgeoning tourist destination. Early tourism was often an arduous journey, but the allure of the Falls proved irresistible. Hotels, viewing platforms, and even daredevil attractions began to spring up, catering to the growing thro

Goat Island is the perfect peaceful retreat amid the thunderous beauty of Niagara Falls. Located between the American and Bridal Veil Falls, it offers stunning up-close views, scenic walking trails (like the Cave of the Winds pathway), and lush greenery. The Terrapin Point lookout provides an incredible vantage point of Horseshoe Falls—you can feel the mist and power of the water! Great for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone wanting a break from the tourist crowds. Free to access and easy to explore, it’s a highlight of any Niagara trip.

This was the best part of the park to view the falls. The Falls are beautiful and could watch them all day. The park was crowded but it is so large it did not feel crowded. Parking on Goat Island was $15 and there was plenty of parking. From the lot, it was a short walk to the falls. There was a cafe and gift shop nearby. Next time we visit, would love to do the Maid of the Mist as that looked like an awesome attraction to see the falls from a boat. So glad we were able to see this in person!

A nice island which is in America which also makes a border with America and Canada!!! 🇺🇸🇨🇦 I only saw it in the Canadian side, because I could not go to the American side of the falls sadly…. But I want to go there one day for sure!!!! 👍:);):)

If you drive in you have to pay to park. $10 Monday- Thursday and $15 Friday- Sunday. There are booths to pay via card, no attendants, card only. You can stay for the day, no reentry. The entrance to Cave of the winds is here, there is a restaurant and plenty of areas to view the falls.

The road and driveway are well maintained. The place is good for a walk around the whole island. Also has good spots for watching the falls and the upstream of the falls. We paid a one-day fee for parking.

You can get an incredibly close view of the falls from here. Unlike the commercialized recreational area on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, this place isn’t solely focused on business. Here, you can conveniently park your car for only $10. Visiting this island is truly a remarkable experience, and it would be a great loss if someone doesn’t take the opportunity to see it.

Niagara Glen Trail is a 4-kilometer rugged path through the Niagara Gorge, offering stunning views of prehistoric geological formations and diverse flora and fauna. It's less crowded during off-peak seasons, providing a serene experience. The trail features an open area with amenities like paid parking, an information center, and washrooms. Hiking down to the gorge reveals beautiful green-blue waters and impressive rock walls.
Gorgeous hiking trail in the Niagara region. A must see for those who love the outdoors while visiting the area. There are varying levels of hiking trails depending on ability. The trails are well marked and maintained. The paid parking lot is not overly large and can get busy. You have to option to buy parking pass by time or for the year. There are washrooms at the top of the trail.

Great hiking options, very picturesque, especially when walking along the white water river sections. Nice boulder formations along the trail. Most of the hike is covered, so not too hot when the sun is out. The trail is very well marked. I did the outer loop, a little over 2km in and out many great picture stops along the way. Cool to see the jet boat tours fly by on the hike. Fun distraction.
Rosey — Google review
This spot is a hidden gem and the hike can take on any difficulty that you want it to. I will caution that in order to start, you have to traverse a tower of stairs - maybe about 5 floors? You have to do the same on return so just plan accordingly. Parking was easy, but you need to pay at the meter (don't forget). Before I get into the journey, two hot tips - make sure you bring hiking shoes, flip flops aren't going to get it AND recommend bug spray. Alright so first we descended the stairs which bring you down the Niagara Escarpment and river level (ish). We took the Blue Main Loop trail and another hot tip is to go on the right side as it is easier at the end if you do. The entire hike is beautiful and surprising in terms of the views, trees, rocks and overall nature. Bring the map so you can see the "points of interest" like fossils, views, etc. You eventually get to the river, a cool little inlet/cove and the rapids which roar as you enjoy the hike. The boulders are so HUGE in some areas, this hike blew my mind in all the best ways. Hope you enjoy, it is absolutely worth the stop and walk!

Niagara Glen Trail is undoubtedly the most stunning trail in the Niagara region. You get to enjoy the wind rustling through trees, scenic up-close views, and the humbling roar of the lake, which is beyond stunning. The lush green trees cover most of the trail, which offers shade even during summers. The trails are well-maintained and properly marked, which makes them very easy to follow. I would recommend proper and comfortable hiking shoes, as the trail gets quite rocky in some areas. We took the mail trail (around 3 km), which offers stunning lookout points to Lake Niagara throughout the trail. However, the lake trail (around 600 m) towards the very end gives you a mesmerizing and up-close view of the turquoise waters of the lake. Don't forget to carry enough water and snacks with you, as the trail takes approximately 2-4 hours. This trail is a 💎 and definitely worth checking out if you are in the Niagara region! The entrance is free. The trail offers plenty of paid parking (8$/hr) and hygienic restrooms at the entrance.
Amritha S — Google review
I would rate the trail moderate to difficult. The path is rocky. It does have breathtaking views of the river. Going down was fun but climbing up was a task. They have marked all the trails perfectly and you can decide the length of it. The staff was very helpful in guiding us how we could start and the duration which helped us to plan the trail.

Wetland Ridge Trail is a 4.8km long side trail located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, offering an approximate one-hour hike through reclaimed wetlands, a forest patch, and two ponds before reaching a vineyard near Niagara College. The trailhead can be accessed from Taylor Road with ample parking available. It connects to the Margaret Kalogeropoulos Side Trail and the Krista Miller Chute, providing various route options.
A very nice trail connected to Niagara College's Niagara On The Lake Campus. The trail also connects to the Bruce Trail and up the escarpment. The starting point of the trail is in the back parking lot between the residence and large barn-like building. The trail will take you past the Bee Boxes. It then passes by the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Garden where you can choose to veer left and loop around or stay straight and pass the Outdoor Classroom. Past the classroom you can either continue straight or veer left again to loop around the wetland. Continuing straight will connect you to the main Bruce Trail. The trail itself is brimming with life and has lots of birds, bugs, and supposedly also snakes. There are numerous information panels throughout the trail to educate you on the local wildlife. The trail is not busy and is a great place to walk your dog, enjoy a nice break, or simply enjoy nature.

Established in 1936, the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens is a sprawling European-style garden spanning 40 hectares. It showcases an array of plants from around the globe, including allees, roses, herbs, and vegetables. The site also houses one of Canada's largest conservatories where visitors can observe butterflies up close and partake in educational programs focused on horticulture. Additionally, the gardens offer indoor and outdoor spaces for students to learn about plant life and for families to enjoy nature.
The butterfly experience was everything we expected: surrounded by multiple butterflies, we spent an hour being just amazed at the close contact we had with nature’s most precious creatures. The gardens are also very impressive and super well-maintained. It’s a nice place for kids AND for adults!

The view is amazing but before you get to this place you have to go down some steep wood stairs than hike your way down to this spot. Going up is worst part but you get a good workout from it. It’s also a nice place to fish.
Cindy R — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Niagara Whirlpool, and it was an absolutely mesmerizing experience. Located in the Niagara Gorge, just downstream from the famous Niagara Falls, this natural wonder is a must-see for anyone visiting the area. The Whirlpool is a spectacular sight, where the powerful currents of the Niagara River create a swirling vortex that is both awe-inspiring and humbling. The sheer force of the water and the dynamic movement of the whirlpool make it a breathtaking natural phenomenon. The vivid blue-green color of the water adds to the beauty, making it a perfect spot for photography and nature observation. One of the best ways to view the Niagara Whirlpool is from the various lookout points along the gorge. The Whirlpool State Park on the American side and the Niagara Glen Nature Reserve on the Canadian side both offer excellent vantage points. The trails are well-marked and provide multiple viewing areas where you can take in the dramatic scenery from different angles. The paths can be steep and rocky in some areas, so wearing comfortable footwear is advisable. For those seeking a bit more adventure, the Whirlpool Aero Car offers a unique perspective. This antique cable car, operating since 1916, traverses the width of the gorge, providing spectacular aerial views of the Whirlpool and the surrounding landscape. The ride is both thrilling and educational, with informative commentary about the geological history of the area and the formation of the Whirlpool. The Niagara Whirlpool is not just a visual delight but also an educational experience. Informative signs and displays at the lookout points and parks explain the geological and historical significance of the Whirlpool. Learning about how the Whirlpool was formed over thousands of years and its role in the local ecosystem adds depth to the visit. The area around the Whirlpool is also rich in natural beauty and biodiversity. The Niagara Glen Nature Reserve offers several hiking trails that take you through pristine forests, past fascinating rock formations, and down to the river’s edge. It’s a fantastic place for hiking, bird watching, and exploring the unique flora and fauna of the Niagara Gorge. Parking is convenient, with ample spaces available at the parks and lookout points. The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff at the visitor centers are friendly and knowledgeable, providing helpful information and ensuring a pleasant visit. In conclusion, the Niagara Whirlpool is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone interested in experiencing the raw power and beauty of one of nature’s most fascinating phenomena. Whether you’re viewing it from the lookout points, hiking through the gorge, or taking a ride on the Whirlpool Aero Car, the experience is sure to be memorable and awe-inspiring. Highly recommend!

Artpark Gorge Trail Trailhead offers a picturesque hike along the gorge, leading to the rim near the Power Project. Fossil enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to spot fossils along the rocky edges. The trail also features a tranquil picnic area near Spring Cave Cascade Waterfall and is ideal for fishing.

Experience the natural wonder of Horseshoe Falls from a unique perspective at Journey Behind the Falls. This year-round attraction offers visitors the chance to view the falls from below and behind through tunnels and observation decks. To reach this vantage point, guests descend 45 meters in an elevator before traveling through a 50-meter tunnel that leads to two observation platforms located at the bottom of the waterfall.
Unbelievable! If you thought Niagara Falls was breath-taking from the shoreline, wait until you see it from the inside. The views from behind the falls are truly spectacular and unique. To be able to stand just a few meters from the raging waters of one of nature’s wonders is humbling. Feeling the mist hit your face is wild. You can look out across the Niagara River to see thousands of other tourists walking around Canada and the United States, enjoying a boat ride, or looking back at you from the observation deck. On the walls, there are some fun factoids and a brief history of Niagara Falls. The heaviest tourist season is during the summer and hotter months, but we went during the winter and it somehow got more amazing. Seeing the huge icicles and frozen mists in the air is truly a sight to behold. It also helped make the journey quick and painless, since there are huge lines during the warmer times and the only way up is by elevator. Journey Behind the Falls is something everyone should experience, as well as Niagara Falls itself. The area is modern, easy to traverse, and so stunning that it seems surreal at times. This is a big bucket list item.

I went on Journey on the Falls on a hot Thursday morning and there wasn’t a wait or any crowds in the tunnels or the elevators. It was interesting to get up close to the falls, especially the tunnel area with a bigger area near the top. I didn’t feel the price fully justified the experience. You won’t get very soaked unless it’s windy, so no need to fuss over a poncho. Overall, still fun, but if you’re on a budget, it’s okay to skip and prioritize the boat tour.

Journey Behind the Falls is an absolutely incredible experience! 🌊 Being able to stand just behind the roaring waterfalls and feel the mist on your face is something you’ll never forget. The tunnels are well-maintained, safe, and give a unique perspective of the falls that you just can’t get anywhere else. The views from the observation decks are spectacular, and the sound of the water crashing down is both thrilling and mesmerizing. The staff are friendly and helpful, making the visit smooth and enjoyable. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or coming back to Niagara Falls, Journey Behind the Falls is a must-do – it’s up close, exhilarating, and unforgettable. Highly recommend for all ages!

🚤 My Experience on the Maid of the Mist Boat Ride – Niagara Falls Taking the Maid of the Mist boat ride was the most thrilling and unforgettable part of my visit to Niagara Falls. This iconic boat tour takes you right into the heart of the mighty falls — an adventure filled with mist, roar, and excitement! As the boat slowly approached the American Falls and then the majestic Horseshoe Falls, I could feel the power of nature all around me. The sound of the crashing water was thunderous, and the mist completely surrounded us — it felt like stepping into another world. Even with the provided blue poncho, I was soaked, but the experience was totally worth it! The ride was about 20 minutes long, but every second was packed with awe and wonder. Seeing the falls up close gave me a whole new appreciation for their beauty and strength. The crew was friendly, and everything was well-organized and safe. 📍 Tips for Visitors: • Don’t worry about getting wet — embrace it! • Keep your camera or phone waterproofed; the mist is heavy. • Go early morning to avoid long queues. • Hold on to your poncho — it’s a fun souvenir! Overall, the Maid of the Mist is an absolutely must-do experience at Niagara Falls — thrilling, refreshing, and truly unforgettable. 🌊💙🛥️
Shanz S — Google review
A lovely activity where you can see the waterfalls up close from below, making them even more spectacular. Definitely 5 stars for that. However, since it's really just a tunnel with 3 exits, it's over very quickly. For just 15 minutes of fun, I think the price is a bit too high. I'd recommend the boat tour and the Power Station instead.
M. W — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking experience! Standing behind the roaring Niagara Falls was surreal — the sound, the mist, and the sheer power of nature left me speechless. The tunnels and observation decks offer stunning views, and it truly feels like stepping into the heart of the falls. A must-visit if you’re in Niagara! 🌊✨
Gurleen A — Google review
Behind the falls was great. I'd say the viewing platform was the best part, as the portholes inside the tunnels, while interesting, were not worth the short-ish lineup. They were basically bored-out squares that had a seemingly solid block of water in front of them, so there wasn't much to see, but that's not their fault, haha.
Ky B — Google review
It’s a really nice Tour to see behind this giant masses of water running down the cliff, make sure you do it when it’s warm because there will be water all arround you. They provide coats that you don’t get wet, the tour it self is not guided I believe and you need aprox 30mins to get it done. Make sure you buy tickets in advance because the lines can get long on a busy day

The Rainbow International Bridge is a pedestrian-friendly bridge that provides stunning views of Niagara Falls, often adorned with rainbows. This iconic structure was completed in 1941 after the collapse of its predecessor, the Honeymoon Bridge. Renowned for its architectural beauty and outstanding vistas, the bridge earned its name from an engraving of a passage from the Book of Genesis referencing the bow in the cloud.
We crossed back into the US using the Rainbow Bridge. It was so easy and the views of the falls was amazing. Going through customs was simple and efficient. All you have to do is answer honestly, follow common-sense rules and show a valid passport. The merge afterwards was easy as well. We took my mother to Niagara Falls for her birthday and was thought it would be too complicated and that's why she never visited. Even she said it was easy and she thought it was cool and simple. I'd highly recommend going to the Ontario side. You get an excellent view of the bridge and the falls. On top of that, the people in Canada were so friendly that we would definitely want to come back. Next time we'll take the Rainbow Bridge in for the view of the falls and Ontario.
Chris — Google review
Walking across the Rainbow Bridge was such a cool experience. The view of both the American and Canadian Falls is honestly amazing and way better than I expected. Crossing was super easy, just $1 to walk over, and customs didn’t take long at all absolutely worth it. If you’re visiting Niagara, don’t skip this spot❤️
YASSER H — Google review
So cool to be able to walk across to Canada conveniently when we visited the Niagara falls state park in NY. There was no line on a Monday afternoon first week of October so it was very easy to just walk over and no custom checkpoint till you reach the Canada side. Be sure to stop at the Canada Us boundary sign in the middle of the bridge. View of the falls was beautiful from the bridge and across on the Canada side. On the return, you pay $1 toll fee either by cash or credit card at the Canada side, and then go through immigration at the US side. There was a short line of people queuing up in the early evening.
D ( — Google review
Crossed the bridge from the US to Canada. Park on the US side at parking lot #1 and make the easy walk across. Border Patrol isn't until you reach the Canadian side, so stop on the bridge and take a million pictures. $1 return fee to the US and it must be in quarters/bills. Now I can say I walked to another country, how neat.
Alex B — Google review
For one dollar, you can walk from the Canadian side across the bridge to the border in the middle. Be sure to have change for the ticket machine. The view is great. Definitely worth it. The way back is through the Canadian border control. So be sure to take your passport with you, otherwise you'll have serious problems.
Cee K — Google review
Although the views are breathtaking, the people working the bridge have no manners, our road and emotionless. The motor went out in the window of my driver's side, and when I opened the door to hand them my passport, they made me shut my car off and were very rude to me. They got VERY personal.
Theresa M — Google review
We parked on the Canadian side of the Falls and walked over to the U.S side thru Rainbow Bridge to get to Maid of the Mist. It was a short walk on the bridge and you’re able to see nice views and take some pictures. The day we went, during the week, the line to get to the U.S side wasn’t bad but on our return, we waited about 40 minutes to get back to Canada.its a nice experience having to walk the bridge to get to both sides of the falls.

The Floral Clock is a popular and well-established destination featuring a large clock face created with vibrant flowerbeds. Situated near the Centennial Lilac Gardens, this impressive display boasts 16,000 bedding plants that are changed twice a year. The clock's mechanism can be viewed by visitors when the tower door is open, along with historical photos showcasing its designs dating back to the 1950s.
Our bus tour stopped here in the afternoon. What a unique and beautiful attraction! They change out the flowers twice a year for the season. The huge clock hands move over the flowers on the “face” of the clock. The bell tower chimes every 15 minutes.

Such a lovely surprise! We had a chill picnic right beside this beautifully manicured giant clock, and it made for the perfect backdrop. The nearby monuments added a nice historic touch to the visit, and the pond at the foot of the clock? Full of koi fish gliding around like they were putting on a show. Peaceful, scenic, and a great spot to slow down and enjoy the moment. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area!

Queen Victoria Park is a historic and picturesque park located at the heart of the Niagara Parks. It offers a visual spectacle throughout the seasons, featuring beautiful flower gardens and horse-drawn carriage tours. The park celebrates every season with stunning displays, from spring daffodils to winter frost on tree branches.
Beautifully laid out lawns and flowers. Very peaceful. So quiet and calm to walk around or rest after walking a lot to the Falls and up and down the streets with so much activity and so many people. A nice, peaceful and quiet break to the day.

Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls is a beautiful garden location set among some of the prettiest scenery one is likely to find in Canada. It is swept with beautiful grass gardens that will charm you, nothing really feels out of place. It is the main area for viewing and experiencing Niagara Falls. Spectacular scenic panoramas of the Falls await you every day of the year Laced with lush gardens and winding paths, Queen Victoria Park is the front-row seat to the falls. It’s situated directly across the gorge from the cascades and offers some of the best vantage points to see the American and Canadian Horseshoe falls, and the more than 100 fireworks displays that illuminate the skies above the brink each year. Several popular area attractions, including Journey Behind the Falls and Niagara City Cruises, leave from the park grounds. There are not many places Canada that you could see such a display of nature, even the winter months have something beautiful to offer with stark, sweeping trees and branches gracing Queen Victoria Park.

A beautiful area to walk through, to admire the flower gardens, shrubs, trees and wildlife. A relaxing spot, where you can catch a view of the American Falls, or the Canadian Horseshoe falls. There are restrooms nearby, and spots to picnic. Sometimes a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of Clifton Hill.

Nature & Parks
Bridal Veil Falls, also known as Luna Falls, is the smallest of the three Niagara Falls cascades. It features a viewing deck and is flanked by two small islands. Visitors can enjoy the lush landscape and wildlife at Niagara Falls State Park, which is open 365 days a year. The park offers stunning views of Bridal Veil Falls from Luna Island and provides opportunities to take tours like Cave of the Winds for an up-close experience with the falls' spray.
Bridal Veil Falls, one of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls, offers a more intimate and picturesque experience compared to its larger counterparts, the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls. Located on the American side of the falls, it is the smallest of the trio but no less captivating. Here's a detailed review: Overview: Height: Approximately 181 feet (55 meters), with a direct vertical drop of about 78 feet (24 meters). Width: Roughly 56 feet (17 meters). Location: Bridal Veil Falls is situated between Luna Island (which separates it from the American Falls) and Goat Island. Experience: Close-up View: Bridal Veil Falls is especially notable for allowing visitors to get very close to the cascading water. The Cave of the Winds tour is one of the highlights here, as it takes visitors via wooden walkways directly beneath and next to the falls, offering a visceral, immersive experience. You can literally feel the power of the falls and get soaked by the spray—ponchos are provided, but expect to get wet! Scenic Beauty: The narrow shape of Bridal Veil Falls gives it an ethereal appearance, especially with its mist and the way light plays through the water. It resembles a delicate veil, hence the name. It's less overwhelming than the neighboring American and Horseshoe Falls, making it a peaceful spot for photography and quiet contemplation. Access Points: Visitors can view Bridal Veil Falls from Luna Island, which is accessible by foot from Goat Island. From there, you get a close view of the falls’ brink. Additionally, the viewing platforms near the Cave of the Winds offer stunning angles from the base of the falls. Comparison to Other Niagara Falls Features: Size: As the smallest of Niagara’s waterfalls, Bridal Veil Falls is not as majestic in terms of sheer volume or width as the Horseshoe Falls. However, its more intimate scale and accessible viewpoints make it one of the most interactive parts of the Niagara experience. Interaction: While the Horseshoe Falls are best viewed from a distance due to their sheer size and the power of their water flow, Bridal Veil Falls allows for a much more personal and physical experience. The Cave of the Winds, in particular, allows you to feel the power of the falls in a way that the other areas don’t. Night Illumination: Like the other parts of Niagara Falls, Bridal Veil Falls is illuminated at night with colored lights, offering a magical view. It adds to the mystical allure of the smaller falls, turning them into a beautiful nighttime spectacle. Best Time to Visit: Season: The spring and summer months (May to September) are the best times to visit Bridal Veil Falls when the water flow is at its fullest, and all attractions, like the Cave of the Winds, are fully operational. The fall season also brings beautiful foliage that enhances the overall scenery. Time of Day: Morning hours can provide fewer crowds, making it a great time for those seeking a more peaceful experience. Sunset and evening visits offer incredible lighting, especially when the falls are illuminated. Conclusion: Bridal Veil Falls offers a serene yet thrilling experience that complements the grandiosity of Niagara Falls as a whole. Its manageable size, combined with the interactive Cave of the Winds attraction, makes it a unique feature of the Niagara Falls area. Perfect for families, nature lovers, and those looking to get up close and personal with one of nature’s wonders, Bridal Veil Falls is an essential part of any Niagara Falls visit.
ZIA H — Google review
Niagara Falls is the largest waterfall by volume in North America, and certainly the most well-know, thanks to its history (America’s oldest state park) there are actually three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls: Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Separated from American Falls by Luna Island, lacy Bridal Veil Falls is the smallest of the three falls. However, it’s the easiest one to get close to: the Cave of the Winds tour takes you right up to its base! The waterfall looks like a 'Bridal Veil' and thus the name Bridal Veil Falls. The Bridal Veil Falls is also known as Luna Falls and Iris Falls. The height of Bridal Veil Falls is 181 ft. Though it is a small waterfall compared to its two counterparts, it has its own specialties.
Sanjay G — Google review
Goat Island was really beautiful! We parked at parking lot 3 which is free on Tues, Wed and Thurs, its on the south end of the island but just a mile walk to the north end to see the falls. We walked around the island and the rapids on the east side of the island are just amazing to watch. Bridal Veil Falls is stunning especially with the rainbow showing up at the viewing area.

Niagara Falls State Park is New York's oldest state park, opened in 1885, and home to a trio of impressive waterfalls and five islands on the Niagara River, Goat island is one of them. The area is large, with much to explore and plenty of walking as you make your way to all three sets of falls, which are connected by a paved path. There are also places to eat within the park if you work up an appetite. Cave of the Winds is on Goat Island. You'll need to walk out onto Goat Island and buy your tickets at the Cave of the Winds Plaza The key highlights to see as you walk through the park are the view of Horseshoe Falls from Terrapin Point on Goat Island

One of the top rated public golf courses in Canada, Whirlpool Golf Course is located in a picturesque setting beside the Niagara River Whirlpool. The course has been consistently ranked as one of Canada's best golf courses and is a great way to enjoy some championship golf while in Niagara Falls.
I cannot believe how lush the course was, even the rough! From the tee box, to the fairways and finishing off on the green, there wasn't any ground under repair, no dry patches, simply marvelous conditions. On top of that, the change in elevation definitely keeps you on your toes. Will definitely come back for another round.

Played June 1st. Course in great shape. Tee boxes green and flat. Greens roll true, medium speed not large mostly round receptive to good high approach shots. Fairways good shape most narrow some 25 yards wide. Staff friendly and helpful. Bar staff funny and friendly. Overall course is challenging but rewarding. Will definitely return.

Visiting Niagara Falls was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my travels. The moment I saw the falls up close, I was completely amazed by their sheer power and beauty. But the best part of the whole trip was the ferry ride – being surrounded by the mist and hearing the roaring water so close was an absolute once-in-a-lifetime thrill. If you’re planning a visit, don’t miss the ferry tour, it’s the highlight that truly brings the magic of Niagara to life.

We even try this kind of courses in the Grouce mountain, Vancouver no problem. My husband and I decided not to try it as our kid was so upset and crying. Visited today June 22, 2024. We waited about an hour before getting geared up and again for the safety demo. Their website and confirmation email was not clear on the footwear required (stated just closed toed versus sneakers/hiking footwear) but thankfully they had spares that fit. I was also told over the phone the day prior there was no space earlier in the day, so we kept our reservation but when gearing up we were told on weekends they’re open to public with no reservations necessary…. A couple of the workers were pleasant, a couple less so. The course itself was fun.

AMAZING PLACE! The ropes courses are very fun! We did the classic course which I highly recommend. There is 2 levels and many zip-lines that are long and high! 40 feet drop off jump!! Also very challenging but a lot of fun! Recommend more for teens. Moving through the course can be tricky for littler children. Although they do a demo before you enter the course. Kingsbridge Park, located in the picturesque town of Chippawa just a few minutes from Niagara Falls, is a delightful family-friendly park offering various amenities. The park features picnic pavilions, walking trails, and a playground for children to enjoy. It's an ideal spot for outdoor activities and spending quality time with loved ones in a beautiful natural setting. Additionally, visitors can access the Niagara River Recreational Trail easily from the park.
An absolute gorgeous picnic spot for families and friends. Lovely views as you are by the lake. Open field for walking and running with beautiful varieties of trees spaced out for shade. Ample parking available; paid but minimal cost. Plenty available benches or you could spread your own picnic blanket. Great spot for kids to run and play around at, as well as for biking and going for just a walk. It’s best for the family and individuals who would like to spend their time and have fun.

This is a nice large park on the north end of Niagara Falls. Lots of space to enjoy a picnic, cook out, strolling, jogging, bicycle riding, etc. Not a busy place when I went., so there's a lot of space to have to yourself :)

Nice park for get together or picnic. It has a the waterfront view, parking can be found easy. Plenty of benches to sit, park in well maintained. Restrooms are easy access, could use a little maintenance (so many people in summers, must be hard to keep it maintained I dont blame the management) Perfect to sit back relax and get a bite after the long stroll of the niagara falls view. 10/10

Nice place to picnic and hangout. You do have to pay for parking and on Sunday most tables were taken, but we did find one at the end. Lots of space and shade.

APRIL 16TH 2023, Stopped by this park on this beautiful weekend to eat my lunch I'd picked up from Tim Hortons a 3min drive away. Great place by Niagara River to relax and picnic, BBQ, walk, cycle and take lots of pics. There are washrooms and plenty paid parking in this park. Plenty picnic benches too. Can't believe the beautiful weather this past weekend ! Can't wait till Summer is officially here 🙌 The water was so clear today see photo below 👌

Nice park. Lots of parking and space. Gets very crowded with large groups early afternoon to evening. Would be nice if they banned playing loud music so other people can enjoy their time here. Good access to the water to cool off. Washrooms close by, decent amount of benches and picnic tables.

Buckhorn Island State Park is a nature reserve spanning 895 acres in Erie County, New York. Situated at the northern end of Grand Island, it showcases the wetlands of the Niagara River. The park offers various trails for activities such as hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the Niagara River and wooded areas while exploring the park's diverse landscapes. It's recommended to take precautions against ticks by wearing long pants tucked into socks and staying on designated paths.
Took an impromptu hiking trip with flip flops in the rain! It was a blast we saw a red squirrel, a toad, egrets or some aquatic bird, a blue herring and siren head. The trails were pretty flooded which made it more fun. It is a beautiful hike.

Recently I visited this place. In the fall it has another beauty than summer 😄. The place is very quiet and peaceful. Be careful while you are walking through the trail. I saw a snake this time. Moreover, I didn't find any restroom which was pathetic 😞.
Wasim A — Google review
Easy to walk on well-maintained level trails, though signage would be helpful. Nice forested area along the river, an abundance of wildflowers in the marsh area. Not a lot of wildlife, though it was busy when I was there. I was happy to find a kayak launch, so I'll be going back to try that approach. Walked under the Grand Island Bridge to the end of the peninsula and could see not only intakes for the power project but the buildings and rising mist from Niagara Falls.
Lynda R — Google review
The place is a secluded, field like trail that goes on for a couple/few miles, next to and behind some pumping station/factory-like building Bordering a marsh like swamp in the middle. The trail head was calling out to me and I was on a motorcycle. A 2012 Honda Shadow 750. Not a dirt bike! I should of reiterated that to myself at the time along with the list of 'should ofs & shouldn't ofs' I, since then, thought of while regretting my Gumption to do so. I circled the parking lot a few times contemplating. There was no signage telling me not to. I looked for it only to find the sign for Buckhorn National Park with its title and contributors. There was no "Keep Out" or anything to the contrary. I did not know the law and doubt it would of made a difference at the time. I guess I felt I was on this Island alone, Atleast at the park I didn't see a soul around for awhile. It was desolate and I seemingly happened to be there on a day everyone decided to stay away and leave the place alone. I was sort of fortunate in this manner except for the 5-10minutes of embarrassed agony and utter baffooness I was to feel shortly. The actual trail head has 2 steel barriers that allow enough space for an atv to squeak tightly between them. I know because I saw it. My roommates friend brought one to help get me out of the nightmarish predicament I was fixing to put myself into. After coming to some God aweful decision of being able to drive this thing of an unknowingly foreign-never seen before-trail going to God only knows. But yet i still went, and boy will I come to regret that decision forever in my life. So there I went. Through the barriers and rather easily without a care in the world, except to putt along and keep my balance while watching out for obstacles and surveying the trail ahead for a Desirable route. I stayed in 1st gear the whole way. I don't remember ever accelerating, I just idled and held on respectfully, While cautiously going down the path. This path of Doom, little did I know, was not taking Me to the beach as i thought it would. It was taking me deeper and deeper into the woods. At first is was wide open and welcoming. Birds are tweeting I bet. I can't hear 'em cuz I'm on a motorcycle and going down this path I never even walked. It was a ½ mile before the terrain started to change. There were more trees now and the worn out path started to turn more green by the second. The brush started thickening a little then there were these table like signs telling us something about the place. I think there were 4 of 'em spread out on both sides of the disappearing trail. I don't know what the hell they said on there, because like a BIG dummy and some new found Evil Knievel spirit inhabiting me, I couldn't find the moment and come to my senses. The trail was disappearing! I started collecting long stem weeds on my foot pegs and by then I was creeping along slowly but SHOULD OF stopped. I SHOULD OF stopped many of feet before it suddenly turned into an elevation Above a swamp in the brush. Instead I stopped when I could no longer go further. Amateur move and the first of many. The bike already is a little too small for my frame, so my balance is Kattywompous-sp.lol. I sit a bit to low to the ground which messes with my center of gravity while my legs are inhibited from proper mobility to try and adjust accordingly and never being able to straighten them out completely for strength in helping to keep the bike upright. I have to keep my legs bent because I'm sitting too low to the ground. So it's awkward, especially when I have to push myself backwards. I have hard enough times on pavement. I have to constantly feel the weight of the bike falling to one side or the other while pushing backwards and turning. I had topick the f'r up twice from falling to the ground. 5hundred lbs. Gets heavy on the 3rd time when its ontop of me. Upside down onthe hill and halfway in the swamp, I landed and got my leg pinned under the bike and it did not want to come out. 5 mins.of screaming, moaning and struggling I got it free while my

It's a nice walk but it's not exactly scenic. If you have a dog with you then this is a great choice. That being said, people need to actually take the poop bags out with them. I guess at least they bag it up, but seriously, don't just leave it.

I can't say enough about this park. A perfect distance to hike or run...in and out a total of 4 miles. It is between the Niagara river on one side and a wooded area on the other. Beautiful, quiet and at the end you are on a pier looking out at a distant view of Niagara falls.

Terrapin Point, situated on Goat Island, offers unobstructed views of the Horseshoe Falls from the American side. It's a must-see spot with various viewpoints and walking trails in Niagara Falls State Park. While it can get crowded later in the day, early mornings provide a misty atmosphere for photography. Visitors recommend combining the experience with attractions like Cave of the Winds for an up-close encounter with the falls.
I really enjoyed the view. One of amazing things i have ever seen. Its huge and lovely. You should visit. They said canadian side better

I was at the falls in February (off season) but trust me it was so pretty. I have never witnessed something like this in my life. Visit it in any season.

Terrapin Point offers one of the most spectacular views of Horseshoe Falls from the U.S. side. Standing right at the edge, you can feel the mist on your face and hear the thunder of the water as it crashes down into the gorge—truly an unforgettable experience. The walking paths are well-maintained, and there are railings for safety, so you can enjoy the view without worry. We visited around sunset, and the lighting over the falls was magical. You also get great photo opportunities with the Canadian skyline in the background. It’s a short and scenic walk from the parking area on Goat Island, and best of all—it’s completely free with entry to the state park. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Niagara Falls. Terrapin Point is a must-stop for the most up-close and powerful U.S. view of the Falls.
Mohammed A — Google review
The best observation point in entire Niagara Falls state park, in my opinion. Maid of the mist is an experience and not an observation point. Don’t take me wrong, maid of the mist is most probably the best in Niagara Falls NY but from observation point perspective, Terrapin point stands out among all.
Deepak G — Google review
Nice place at the Falls. The same point on the Canadian side is better.
Alyce C — Google review
One of the most beautiful spots in America. I was married here. The marriage didn't last but the views sure do. Best spot at the falls on the American side.
Justin D — Google review
Got a great view of the falls here. I’d say this was my favorite overlook on the US side! You can see a lot of the mist and get really close to the rushing water.
Mary K — Google review
Best shots taken early morning at 5AM. After that it keeps getting crazy here. Too much crowded. However mornings are full of mist so photography is difficult. The mist settle as the day passes.

Train station
Niagara Falls is not only a natural wonder but also a historical site. Queenston Heights Park, the location of the War of 1812 battle, offers stunning views of the Niagara River and features a towering column commemorating Sir Issac Brock's grave. While transportation to Niagara Falls can be limited, taking the seasonal GO Train from Toronto to Niagara Falls Station or opting for an alternative route through Burlington is possible. However, visitors should expect crowds and potential delays at the small train station.
It is one of the three largest waterfalls in the world, and the breathtaking views are truly unforgettable. Seeing the power and beauty of the waterfall in person was an amazing experience. I have no regrets visiting this stunning natural wonder. It’s a must-see destination for anyone who appreciates nature’s magnificence.

Women, children, and seniors forced to stand in the rain because the train was “too short.” Who thought this was okay? The train was so short that its doors didn’t line up with the enclosed platform—leaving passengers, including seniors, women, and children, to board in the pouring rain. Some doors didn’t open at all because there was no platform beneath them. This is basic planning. If a shorter train is running, make sure it stops where the shelter is. This isn’t just an oversight—it’s a failure to treat passengers with dignity.

⸻ “Niagara Falls — the most beautiful place in the world! 🌍💦 God created Niagara Falls, and Americans built America 🇺🇸 Tons of water pour down all year long, yet there’s never a shortage. A true wonder of Earth and a breathtaking example of natural beauty. Absolutely amazing!”

Its a small old station that gets you to Hamilton all the way Union Station. Could need some improvement and some commercial concessions to cater riding public.
Michael R — Google review
I visited the Niagara Falls via Rail Station in late August/Early September 2022. This is the first or last stop in the Canada before crossing over into the US/NY. The Amtrak employees gives you a customs form before going into Canada to fill out so when you get off the train to go through customs. the customs forms were in this area that didn't even specify what they were. Be mindful everyone has to get off the train with all of your belongings even if you’re traveling further up into Canada. I didn’t notice any vending machines at this station so be sure to have beverages and snacks while you wait inside. The seating area was very small. There was a beautiful piano inside. There is also a ladies and men’s room. The ladies room had about 2-3 stalls. There are also benches outside of the station facing the direction of the tracks which you’re able to wait. I didn’t notice when I arrived but when you leave there is a cab number inside the station posted along the wall. There is no customer service/information booth at this station.
Brittany H — Google review
Absolutely amazing, you need to be there to appreciate the intensity of the falls. My review came up under “train station” but it is meant for the Niagara Falls Canada 🇨🇦. On the Canadian side of the border is the larger of the two falls, the horseshoe shaped and the shorter more straight fall is on the USA side, both of which are a site to see and the sound of the water roaring over is incredible not to mention the fine mist which is great because it cools you off in the heat. Apart from the falls in Canada is a quite large area of other attractions to keep the family occupied. There is a number of hotels that have a view of the falls and are reasonably priced and each night there is a great light show on the falls which not only enables you to see them in the dark easier but you can see the colours they shine on the falls, also there is a fireworks show. So from early morning right into the night there is plenty to keep the whole family busy and occupied for a great experience of a lifetime.
Vincent J — Google review
It's a small train station. It does the job of transporting people between Toronto and Niagara Falls. However, after people alight the train, the area is a mess. There are too many people on the platform and everyone is funnelled one direction. Once you leave the platform areas, the train station parking lot is jammed with people. Cars have no hope of leaving until the rush subsides. The sidewalk for people waiting for the WEGO bus is small and the queue is extremely long as a result. Once you cross the street, it's not so crammed. Walk a few blocks down and you're in the clear.
Jonathan L — Google review
This station mostly serves GO Transit passengers on the four round-trip trains that arrive from Toronto every Saturday and Sunday. It’s adequate for the task, in good weather, by providing a small indoor seating area and decent washrooms. There are no customer service facilities; passengers must purchase tickets on the GO Transit web site or use a Presto card. VIA Rail service to Toronto and New York City is #cancelledduetocovid, apparently indefinitely.
