Republic Square, formerly known as Lenin Square, is a grand city square in Yerevan. It is a popular venue for public events and celebrations. The square features colorful and singing fountains that operate from mid-spring to fall, creating a vibrant atmosphere from 9 pm to 11:30 pm. Designed by neoclassical architect Alexander Tamanian, the square holds historical significance as it was originally named after Soviet leader Lenin and housed a statue of him until 1991.
Republic Square was the first stop of our Armenia trip, as it was just a short walk from our hotel in Yerevan. It was the perfect place to get a feel of the city.. lively, historic, and full of character. We visited both during the day and at night, and the evening was truly magical. The square lights up beautifully with dancing fountains, colorful lights, and a vibrant mix of locals and tourists enjoying the scenery. Despite it being summer, the cool night breeze made our walk comfortable. I even had a nostalgic moment holding balloons like a kid again 😅 it added a personal touch to an already memorable night. A must-visit in Yerevan!

Excellent environment at the Republic square. Mostly Families, friends are gathering from 8PM onwards. Colorful water fountain show will start from 9PM. No much rush. It's large area, so you can stay peaceful. So many shops, restaurants near that area. And also you can enjoy some music & singer street performers near that area. Police always be there. So place is well secured. We enjoyed with our kids. Highly recommend to visit Republic square at the weekend. So when you schedule the trip to Armenia, add this place also and visit by Saturday or Sunday. Nice people and peaceful environment.
Chandana J — Google review
Awesome vibes. Weekend was full of fountain musical shows and you won’t get bored because it’s continuous running with different music and light show every time. you keep enjoying the evening and won’t feel to return back.
Jagdish G — Google review
Beautiful water and light show that goes along with the classical music! What a wonderful surprise! So many hidden water features. Very busy but lots of space, doesn't seem like you're on top of each other. Really enjoyed the environment!

Republic Square is a must-visit spot in Yerevan. It’s the main square of the city and full of energy. The architecture is beautiful, especially at night when the buildings are lit up. The musical fountains are a big highlight, fun to watch and perfect for families or couples. There are lots of cafes, museums, and shops around. It’s also a great place to take photos or just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Yerevan!
Sam — Google review
Republic Square is the heart of Yerevan and an absolute must-see! The architecture is beautiful, especially in the evening when the lights turn on. The musical fountains are a highlight and create such a lively and magical atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax, take photos, and feel the energy of the city.

Amazing Place To Spend Quality Time With Family & Friends. Mark, Historical, Center Place of Armenia. Must Visit this place who visit Armenia. Water fountain is mixed of opera. Music & Water Amazing.
Eafta H — Google review
Watching the fountain show in Yerevan was truly amazing. From the moment it started, the water, lights, and music came together in a way that felt magical. The fountains danced in perfect rhythm with the songs, shooting high into the air and then falling gracefully, all lit up with beautiful colors. It was like watching a live performance, but with water as the main star. What I loved most was how the atmosphere brought people together. Families, couples, and tourists all gathered around the square, smiling and enjoying the show. The music was a mix of classical and modern tunes, which made it even more fun because there was something for everyone. Each song felt like a different story told through the movement of the water and the play of lights. The best part is that it’s completely free, making it one of the most enjoyable and accessible experiences in the city. Sitting there and watching the fountains, with the warm evening air and the lively crowd, felt unforgettable. Overall, the fountain show was a highlight of my trip—beautiful, entertaining, and filled with energy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Yerevan.

The Cascade Complex in Yerevan is a must-see for those interested in modern and contemporary art. It features a cascading series of stairs, landscaped gardens, fountains, and sculptures. The complex is home to an arts center and houses several museums, including the impressive Swarovski Museum. The unfinished Cascade is a recognizable landmark that connects downtown Yerevan with Victory Park and residential areas beyond the park.
This is really amazing being a fantastic stairway. It has multiple levels with really interesting terraces and outdoor gardens combined with fountains sculptures and various displays and also we can see the city from each levels. The wonderful views over the city is amazing and when we are coming down a good area to relax and plenty of restaurant's.
Anish A — Google review
During our stay in Jerevan, we visited this place several times, and we really liked it. As a Colombian, it was a surprise to find three Fernando Botero sculptures on the lower floor, which nourished my soul. We really enjoyed Fromm the ground floor, each level rising to the obelisk at the top of this monument. We really enjoyed climbing the more than 700 steps to get there. I would definitely return. It would be nice to find the intermediate section, which is under construction, finished upon returning. It also has escalators for people who can't walk up. very nice view of Mount Ararat from here.
Félix C — Google review
Really a must go when u visit Yerevan, great design in terms of sculpture and architecture. Also incomparable view over the city. If you don’t want to climb all the stairs you can take the lift on the left then walk your way down each level, but even to me who absolutely don’t have enough exercise the stairs don’t seem too much. Highly recommend to visit during sunrise or sunset, it’s an eye treat to see how lighting (or the absence of it) affects how the cascade looks. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and there weren’t too many ppl Free entry with additional bonus of a few stray dogs taking walks and enjoying sunset
T Z — Google review
It looks impressive from afar and it is the smae when you get near it. Did not had the lick to have clear skies for seeing Ararat (from what we've heard, there's rarely any chance in August for this) but the whole experience was nice. The area is full with caffees and restaurants anyway (in the plaza before climbing) and it is really beautiful there - including the area of the quirky statues 😉. Really nice area to visit and hang out at any point of the day. A visit to the art's centre is recommended as well.
Stelios A — Google review
Very beautiful part of the city, especially on sunny days. There is a nice little park with flowers and art, a beautiful and peaceful vibe, a lot of couples and friendly people. You should definitely visit it. Take the escalator up and walk the stairs down. From there, take a walk into the beautiful city center.
F G — Google review
I really think you should visit this museum, which is located in the city center. This was my second time traveling to Yerevan and I truly enjoyed it. The people are very warm and genuine. The museum is right in the heart of the city, and if you're lucky and the weather is nice when you reach the top, you can see a panoramic view of the entire city. If you ever happen to be in Yerevan, make sure to explore the art pieces inside and also take your time to enjoy the view.
Burak ( — Google review
Breath taking! Beautiful! Elegant! Timeless. The fountains on the bottom around 30 feet deep, you'd never know unless you went down the steps! Incredible! Walk all the steps up, count how many! Each level has different design fountains! There are even some hidden steps too, keep your eyes out and take them :) Wonderful view of Mount Ararat, Yerevan, during the day. Evening time, beautiful sunset! There is an escalator that takes you all the way up if you don't want to walk all the steps. Don't step on the grass, they don't like it.
Cost — Google review
Visited on a hot day. Took the escalator up. Worth visiting if you are in Yerevan. A lot of sculpturs and art pieces. Saw some pieces from Colombian's Botero famous for im-proportioante art.

In the vibrant city of Yerevan, Armenia, there's a wealth of cultural and historical attractions to explore. One must-visit destination is Matenadaran, also known as the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. This renowned repository houses an impressive collection of rare manuscripts, parchments, and books.
Definitely visit for a unique museum! The entrance and building is very cool and their collection of manuscripts is amazing! Many old and biblical texts in addition to others such as political documents, medical texts, etc. They accepted our international university ID cards and gave us the student discount (each student ticket costs 300).
Hossein Z — Google review
A unique museum presenting an interesting collection of manuscripts from various the Middle Ages onwards. They are all very pretty, and the only downside is the small size of the museum.
Matthew U — Google review
What a powerful place. Seeing 2000-year-old manuscripts up close is just an incredible experience. The collection is vast and includes texts from many different countries. We had a great guide who made the whole visit super interesting and easy to understand. If you're into history, you can't miss this.
Kristjan R — Google review
Amazing old Bibles!! Wonderful place Very great lay out. Bibles are explained in four languages so you can read and understand. The staff will answer questions if you ask them, so that's also nice. You can take pictures without flash.
Cost — Google review
I did not know what to expect from this museum, but I certainly did not expect to be so deeply...moved by its collection. The minuscule details, the amount of time, work, attention, precision, and talent that went into producing those illuminations and miniatures simply blew me away. A must see in Yerevan.
Marta T — Google review
It has a great collection of manuscripts on display. However it's a shame that it doesn't let people take photos or videos. And the fit shop section was closed during our visit on a Friday early afternoon and we couldn't buy anything though we wanted to. There were many people working though.
Rhys T — Google review
Super nice museum, even if many exhibits are not in a Western language. But the atmosphere, the ancient scriptures are all well displayed.

Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex in Yerevan is an architecturally significant building that serves as the official memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The complex offers educational exhibits and guided tours, providing a powerful museum experience similar to Israel's Yad Vashem.
An enlightening experience, to learn about the horrors and atrocities people can inflict on each other. I hope that no such thing ever happens to another nation. The memorial site was amazingly built, and the museum building was very educational, plus there were guides who could explain the history in English and Russian.
Red D — Google review
What a beautiful and moving place it was, one of the most detailed museums I've been to with full explanations in different languages, which is rare in Armenia. It would have been better if there were people who gave brief oral explanations in English.
Maedeh M — Google review
It's a very informative place which depicts the history of sufferings which Armenia population as gone through. Walking through the museum just felt like flashing through the history . It's a must visit place in Yerevan
Shanitha A — Google review
A memorial capturing the blood soaked history of genocide, a painful experience to know that such a colossal brutalities were committed on innocent people by fanatic ottoman empire
Madan M — Google review
Sad, grim and sobering experience understanding the background of the Armenian Genocide. Hope that no other race will ever go through the atrocities undergone by the Armenian people. One event like that is one too many. The guide gave a detailed tour of the museum
CK C — Google review
Makes me humble visiting places like this but today was particularly special because of Genocide Memorial Day in Armenia and beyond its confines. Well worked out one way system for visitors to get in, to the eternal flame and then out again without any need for pushing and shoving. Everything remained calm and peaceful. A very powerful experience.
Lewis M — Google review
What a tribute to the people who sacrificed their life to country's sake? Indeed a nice monument. The guide here are really passionate about their job, explain the history beautifully. My eyes were wet after hearing the cruel act of Turkey's towards Armenian. This is a must visit place and pray for departed soul.
Sanjeeva N — Google review
One of the best historical museum. The memorial complex is very nice, well designed and so peaceful. The museum is very well organized and informative. You can get a guided tour but i prefer to do it myself so i can read all info and go through details. I highly advised you to check the museum once there.

Flea & Street Markets
The Vernissage Market in Yerevan is a renowned open-air street market offering a wide array of souvenirs, antiques, and local foods. Despite its name suggesting an upscale art gallery, the market features an eclectic mix of items including canvas paintings, national trinkets, Orthodox icons, coffee accessories, handicrafts, and antiques.
Every time I walk through this open market, I find something new. It is not only a great place to buy souvenirs for friends and family, but also to collect your own memorabilia. I was told that someone had found an old family photo of her ancestors just by coincidence 🤔 I have seen some old and some new hand crafted items here.
Adrineh A — Google review
Beautiful market! I bought a few trinkets to bring home but I'm also going to come back to buy more gifts for my family. The chessboards are beautifully made and there's a huge variety of items. I arrived unfortunately around 6pm so most of the shops were closing. I recommend coming here from between 11am to 5pm to get to experience it while it's busy.

This art and crafts market in Yerevan offers you a wide selection of souvenirs, silver jewelry, pottery, wooden items and so much more. Loved and purchased a lot of handmade products by small scale businesses mostly run by women. Had a fun time shopping here on the last day of our trip.
Easita D — Google review
I was impressed how large the market was and how professional the stalls are. A diverse range of local and traditional jewelry, clothing, wooden carvings, paintings, pottery and more . Nice to browse to see cultural aspects and a great place to buy souvenirs or gifts.

A wonderful hotel that looks like a black castle with an old blue dome. The cleanliness is excellent and the service is outstanding. There was a woman at the reception named Bella — incredibly beautiful, kind, and cheerful ❤️. The room was a large suite with a jacuzzi and breakfast served in the room in the morning. A very enjoyable stay that I will definitely repeat.
Ghenwa M — Google review
Amazing market!! Colorful, everything is handmade by local people. You can wander around for hours, it’s so vibrant. You can even bargain with the sellers about the prices. I really enjoyed it!
Lina A — Google review
This is a must visit place in Yerevan as tourist. Amazing local products specially the silver jewelry, different local stones & woolen ware. You can definitely bargain here. What is surprising is some of the Art collection you get to see here.

A great spot with a mix of flea market finds, semi-precious jewelry, souvenirs, and clothes! You can easily spend 2-3 hours there. Prices are a bit high, so bargain away! You'll find tons of keepsakes for your Armenia trip. 🇦🇲🛍️💎 #Market #Jewelry #Souvenirs #Armenia #Travel

Mosque

The Blue Mosque, built in the mid-1700s, stands out with its turquoise and yellow tiled dome and a serene garden. As the only remaining mosque in Yerevan, it holds significant historical and cultural value. Despite Armenia's predominantly Christian population, the country is tolerant of other faiths due to its multicultural background. The mosque serves as a reminder of Armenia's diverse influences from both east and west.
The Yerevan Blue Mosque welcomes guests with luxurious decorations. The entrance is richly decorated with colorful mosaics and ornaments. Once inside, you will find yourself on a neat patio, surrounded by a garden with mulberry and apricot trees and rose bushes. The complex also includes a gallery with several rooms, an administrative office of the Imam of the mosque, the police room, a kitchen, a first-aid post, and classrooms. Passing the blooming green garden, you will get to the main building. Inside there is a prayer hall. The floor is covered with carpets, a gilded chandelier sparkles under the ceiling, and the stained-glass windows are decorated with various beautiful patterns. There are sound speakers for broadcasting prayers as well in the prayer hall. The name of the mosque is derived from the color of the dome, which attracts attention with bright, rich turquoise tones. It is decorated with fascinating paintings. In addition, there is a minaret decorated with patterned brickwork. Three other minarets, built originally for the mosque, were demolished during Soviet rule. The Blue Mosque has its own library, which is open to every visitor. Here you can find a unique collection of Iranian paintings as well. The collection of the library also includes photographs of the mosque in different years.
Mo A — Google review
We visited here on a Monday and as the only remaining mosque in Yerevan it’s definitely something to see. The entry is free, and accessible with stairs into the compound. With the large gardens and the mosaic tiles of the mosque frontage and dome, it’s worthwhile taking a look just to see it. The mosque itself is open to visitors with the traditional men and women entrances. The carpets and tapestries are colourful and the mosque itself is cool in the heat of the day. The Iranian artefact display is nice to see showing some history. There’s a little store for Iranian products and trinkets to purchase if you like. Overall, something you should see as it is the only mosque remaining in Yerevan and open to visitors to take a glimpse into the Muslim world.
Hewey H — Google review
If you are near, you should visit. It’s not the most impressive monument, but it’s beautiful enough. But I would not come here from another side of the city. The surrounding garden can use some care though, it looked like it was last repaired 15 years ago. P.S. The mosque is a bit hidden: you need to dive into one of the alleyways to reach it.
Vladisto — Google review
The mosque is probably the most enjoyable sightseeing spot of the city. You will find calm vibes and silence, other than a stunning Persian architectural complex. There is also a wonderful souvenir shop next to it with products manufactured in Iran.
Francesca M — Google review
Worth the visit - it’s free, won’t take much of your time and is along the way. Only active mosque in Armenia which is interesting. Beautiful facade but not much else after you enter.
Evie — Google review
A beautifully restored mosque — in fact, the only mosque in Yerevan. I think it’s definitely worth a visit! They also have some lovely local handicraft shops on-site
Shima R — Google review
The only mosque in Yerevan is very pretty, though the outside much more so than the inside. As with most mosques, it is free to visit, and it's well worth a stop.
Matthew U — Google review
Only mosque in Yerevan. Reconstruction was funded by the Iranians. It's a pretty interesting place as it's a complex rather than just a single building. There is a small museum, a shop with Iranian items for sale and the mosque itself. It was empty when I went and open to non muslims. There is a nice older lady offering tours on the history of the place.

The History Museum of Armenia is a renowned institution boasting a vast collection of archaeological artifacts, ranging from bronze items to chariots. The museum offers an insightful journey through Armenia's history, showcasing its cultural heritage and longstanding connections with other civilizations. Visitors can explore the country's turbulent past and its evolution into modern times through well-curated exhibits on archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, and historical documents. Additionally, the museum frequently hosts special exhibitions and events for an enriched experience.
The Historical Museum of Armenia is a large building with various historical significance with objects from various periods that guide you through one after the other. It is worth your visit, It should be noted that it is one of the largest history museums I have visited. A beautiful trip for art fans.
Michalis E — Google review
I visited this museum on the morning of Oct 12 th 2025. The collections you have is very impressive. The history of Armenia dated far back to the Assyrian, mesopotamia era and much more there's so much to go through but with just 1/2 an hour is not enough. I came in with tour group. By the way, obsidian tools I highlighted spelling error on the "blandes" maybe some people don't read the descriptions but I do... Hehe
MYstique Q — Google review
That's a very good museum but not spectacular though. You have to be interested or at least curious about the Antiquity, otherwise it might look a bit boring. Very informative for those wishing to go deep into Armenia's deep past. The country used to be vastly greater and larger than it is at present. It came referred side by side with Babylon and Egypt in ancient times. I would call it a mandatory visit.
Jorge B — Google review
“If you travel to Armenia, make sure to visit this museum. It showcases artifacts from the very beginning of humanity up to the present day. I personally visited the section about the years when Armenia was part of the Soviet Union, but unfortunately that part was under renovation at the time.

The History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan (established 1920) is a compact yet captivating journey through the nation’s rich tapestry—archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, and modern history—all under one roof. Located in Republic Square, it’s ideal for a leisurely 1–2 hour visit, especially on weekday mornings when it’s quiet. This museum offers a concise, well-preserved snapshot of Armenia’s millennia-old heritage. If you’ve already explored churches and monasteries, it enriches your understanding with archaeology, art, and historical depth. Despite its size, it’s consistently rated a top museum in Yerevan.

It was chilly and raining and we decided to take stroll through the museum at Republic Square. The place may not be as big as other national museums across the globe, however it takes you through a well structured journey of the history of the land. Good place to spend 1.5 hours

The Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, established in 1933, is a magnificent circular opera house located in Yerevan. It showcases an array of captivating opera and ballet performances, ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary works. The theater's opulent design and grand interiors add to the allure of its concerts. Renowned for its talented artists and diverse repertoire, it attracts both local enthusiasts and international visitors.
I think there are ballet and opera performances almost every night. The hall is very large. You can buy tickets on-site and online, but if you wait until just a few hours before the show, they might be sold out. I recommend not choosing seats on the sides of the hall, as you’ll miss half of the stage view. Overall, it’s a beautiful place, and as a tourist, watching a ballet performance here was a truly enjoyable experience

Went to see russian The Nutcracker ballet. The Opera is really beautiful both from the outside and the inside, including the garden all around the Opera. The auditorium itself wasn't that big, which is actually good news since we were pretty far from the main stage yet had a beautiful view on it. The show itself was beautiful, everyone being very talented. The only flaw of the show wasn't even the price (~30€) but more of the time it took. It wasn't even an hour long which was a bit disappointing.

Sublime! I attended Gayane ballet and it seemed the story they showed was not similar to the original one but still, the dancers were captivating and the orchestra playing the music was top notch. No complaints. Worth every penny. I recommend also booking in rows 5-16 as rows 1-4 despite being closest to the stage, maybe be obstructed easily by people sitting in front of you. During intermissions there are drinks or treats for extremely reasonable prices to other opera houses in other countries.

The Yerevan Opera and Ballet Theatre provided an unforgettable evening for our family of four. We attended a performance of the classic opera, "Carmen," and were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. Opting to purchase our tickets online in advance was an excellent decision, as it allowed us to choose the perfect seats, ensuring a great view for everyone in our party. The venue itself is stunning, boasting beautiful architecture that makes the pre-show and intermission moments feel as grand as the performance. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, a perfect setting for introducing our two teenagers to the magic of live opera. The quality of the production was exceptional. The orchestra was masterful, creating a rich and immersive soundscape, and the vocal performances were powerful and deeply moving. We were particularly captivated by the lead performers, whose passion and talent brought the story to life. "Carmen" proved to be an ideal choice for a family outing. The drama, passion, and well-known melodies kept everyone engaged from beginning to end. It was truly a delight to see our teenagers so engrossed in the performance, proving that the timeless art of opera can captivate a modern audience. This was more than just a show; it was a memorable family experience that we will cherish for years to come. We highly recommend attending a performance at the Yerevan Opera and Ballet Theatre, and we look forward to returning on our next visit.

Lover’s Park in Yerevan is absolutely magical in autumn, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. This Japanese-style park completely transforms when the leaves change, filling the park with warm reds, oranges, and yellows that create a cozy and romantic vibe. If you’re a nature lover or a photographer, you’ll be in heaven every corner of the park offers a perfect shot. The park has such a peaceful atmosphere, with winding paths, little ponds, wooden bridges, and gentle waterfalls, all surrounded by vibrant autumn foliage. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing walk, quiet reflection, or just sitting on a bench with a warm drink, soaking in the beauty of the season. But it’s not just the nature that makes Lover’s Park special. The park is also home to unique art installations and sculptures. The mix of nature, art, and beautiful fall colors makes it a serene and striking escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. If you’re in Yerevan during autumn, definitely make a visit to Lover’s Park. Whether you want to take a romantic stroll, capture some vibrant photos, or just relax surrounded by nature, it’s the perfect spot to experience the essence of the season in the heart of the city. You can even access the park through the Soviet-era metro station located nearby!

The Sergei Paradjanov Museum in Yerevan is a tribute to the renowned Armenian filmmaker of the 20th century. Despite persecution by the Soviet regime, Paradjanov created internationally acclaimed films and a vast collection of artwork, including over 1,400 installations, collages, and paintings. The museum offers insight into his life filled with artistic quests and struggles.
A must-visit. Really good museum with a lot of Paradjanov's works (besides his movies). After going through all the rooms you will be able to see his true character. I didn't really start to love him (because I don't understand him well), but I admit that thanks to the museum I saw him as a genius.

Visiting the Parajanov Museum was an unforgettable experience and easily one of the highlights of my trip to Yerevan. Nestled on a hillside with beautiful views of the city, this museum offers a deep and moving insight into the life, creativity, and genius of Sergei Parajanov – one of the most original filmmakers and artists of the 20th century. The museum is set in a charming traditional house where Parajanov spent his final years. Each room is packed with his personal artworks, collages, drawings, installations, and film-related materials that showcase his vibrant imagination and unique artistic voice. Even if you’re not familiar with his films beforehand, you’ll be captivated by the surreal, poetic, and symbolic world he created. The curators have done an excellent job preserving the atmosphere and presenting the exhibits in a way that feels personal and intimate. The museum is not too big, so you can take your time to absorb each detail without feeling overwhelmed. There’s also a helpful guidebook available in multiple languages, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. Whether you’re into cinema, art, history, or simply curious about Armenia’s cultural treasures, the Parajanov Museum is a must-see. It’s a place that inspires creativity and stays with you long after you leave. Don’t miss it!

Well organized museum with interesting pieces from Parajanov's art - movies as well as his photography. And some details from his life too, which I wish were more. The Erebuni Fortress, dating back to 782 BC, is a significant archaeological site in Yerevan. It is considered the birthplace of the city and played a crucial role in its early history. The fortress complex sits on a hill and features cuneiform inscriptions as well as an artifact-filled museum that provides insights into Yerevan's ancient past. Excavated during the 20th century, the ruins offer visitors a glimpse into the early settlements of the area.
I was there in 2019 and nothing has changed since then which is very disappointing. The museum on the open air is managed very purely. You can see that the walls of the precious old city are scratched by vandals, thousands of names dated even in recent years. And the security guys instead of doing their job of guarding the museum just offer you excursions when you enter it. No funds at all are spent on this wonderful piece of ancient architecture.

The museum is small, but interesting. After the museum I did go to the fortress. Nice view to round the town. Interesting place. The fortress shold be in every sightseeing program. The bus number 97 did bring me to this place.

One of the most underrated places to visit in Yerevan! It’s truly fascinating, you can walk among the ruins of different fortress structures ranging from temples to servant rooms, and all that built more than 2800 years ago! There’s also a museum, unfortunately most of it was closed for construction, but we managed to have a small tour of some exhibits with Ms. Rosa, a very sweet and nice lady who told us lots and lots of interesting facts, we truly enjoyed it. Also there’s a beautiful view of Ararat from the top of the hill.

Museum is quite small and fortress itself not impressing, but on the top it's a nice spot to overlook area around. Cost of entrance is 1500 AMD
Alex C — Google review
Visit the museum better than the fortress. I was disappointed with the way they tried to rehabilitate the spot; it's awful 😞, there is only some ruins left as it is inside walls and the rest are newly masoned with concrete it's awfully built. You can visit if you like the top views so you view most of Yerevan from that spot, but if you are looking for historical attraction don't go there.
Monzer ( — Google review
There are two parts to the experience. An old-style museum - you know the type: pots under glass, single line explanations in a handful of languages, and the occasional detailed board with some historic context. Some of the exhibits are interesting, yet the monotony of the presentation means that, by the end of the visit, you're skimming over the latter items. The museum lacks a degree of interaction, videos of the extensive excavations that have happened etc. There were a lot of staff members for such a small place, yet they simply wanted to gruffly point you in the obligatory direction (yes, you MUST peruse the museum in the 'right order'). For me, the museum receives a solid 2 stars. It's small, but potentially interesting displays are sorely lacking, as are staff smiles. The second part is a walk around the large fortress itself. There are QR codes dotted around, which were somewhat useful (although a few web pages didn't load), and a number of sun-baked boards detailing interesting areas of the ruins. A comprehensive map at the entrance of the fortress helps a lot, although having it repeated around other parts of the complex would have been useful too. As the fortress was originally composed of thick stone foundations, and sun-dried mud bricks for the upper levels, it makes sense that we're just left with just the thick lower stones, creating a labyrinth of walls. It's a shame that none of these upper levels are remaining, or that a representative section hasn't been reproduced. It would have been an impressive building in its time. Like the museum, the final third of the walk became somewhat rushed because of the sameness of the experience - unmarked living quarters (possibly), open courtyards with no indication of their purpose, uniformly spaced flat stones that may have held pillars or could have been for something completely different! Don't get me wrong, the building work was impressive, the views quite magnificent, and the areas that did have some information, were interesting but, unlike other ruins I've visited around the world, it felt underrepresented, and visitors will have definitely missed some of what the Erebuni Fortress has to offer. For such an important historical location, this is a shame.
David C — Google review
Erebuni Fortress, also known as Arin Berd, is an Urartian fortified city, located in Yerevan, Armenia. It is 1,017 metres above sea level. It was one of several fortresses built along the northern Urartian border and was one of the most important political, economic and cultural centers of the vast kingdom. Erebuni was founded by Urartian King Argishti I (r. ca. 785–753 BC) in 782 BC. It was built on top of a hill called Arin Berd overlooking the Aras River Valley to serve as a military stronghold to protect the kingdom's northern borders. It has been described as being "designed as a great administrative and religious centre, a fully royal capital." According to Margarit Israelyan, Argishti began the construction of Erebuni after conquering the territories north of Yerevan and west of Lake Sevan, roughly corresponding to where the town of Abovyan is currently located. Accordingly, the prisoners he captured in these campaigns, both men and women, were used to help build his town.

We read terrible reviews about this place but it has not been our experience at all. Staff have been helpful. Our kids enjoyed the sides even if they look a bit old. The water was clean and a good temperature. Food at the shops by the pool is reasonably priced, but just ok. There is only one slide you have to pay for. The worst experience you can have in Armenia is visiting this water park! Not only will they take your money, but they’ll also ruin your mood. Points of Interest & Landmarks
Saint Gregory The Illuminator Cathedral, also known as St. George's Cathedral, is the largest Armenian Apostolic cathedral globally and the largest church in Yerevan, Armenia. It was consecrated in 2001 to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion of Armenia. The cathedral was built on the initiative of Catholicos Vazgen and has been visited by Pope John Paul II.
St. Gregory the Illuminator Church is one of the largest and most striking churches in Yerevan. When driving past it, you can’t help but turn your head—it’s imposing, beautifully built, and a true landmark of the city. The church is massive and well-preserved, with a simple yet strong architectural presence. Unlike the ornate churches you might see in Spain or Italy, this one has a minimalist beauty—both inside and out. The structure itself is solid and grand, and I imagine it looks even more breathtaking when surrounded by lush greenery in the spring or summer. When I visited in winter, the surroundings were bare and gray, but the church still stood out as a commanding presence in the city. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend appreciating it mainly from the outside. When I went inside, there was an ongoing mass, and I personally don’t think tourists should disrupt churchgoers just for photos. The inside is vast and cavernous, yet peaceful. It’s not heavily decorated—no intricate frescoes or overwhelming details—but that’s what makes it unique. The simplicity of the interior adds to its beauty, creating a calm, almost meditative atmosphere. This church is a must-see for its architecture and significance in Yerevan. Even if you don’t go inside, just admiring it from the outside is worth it. If you visit during spring or summer, the contrast of the church against greenery would likely make it even more picturesque. Definitely a landmark worth stopping by!

St. Gregory the Illuminator Church is one of Yerevan's largest and most striking churches, commanding attention with its imposing presence. Its beautifully built structure boasts a simple yet strong architectural style, characterized by clean lines, understated elegance, and a masterful use of form and space. The church's minimalist beauty shines both inside and out, with a solid and grand exterior that's particularly breathtaking when surrounded by spring or summer greenery. The absence of ornate details allows the church's structural elements – its columns, arches, and vaults – to take center stage, creating a sense of solidity and permanence. Inside, the vast and cavernous space exudes peace, its simplicity creating a calm atmosphere devoid of intricate frescoes or overwhelming details. The subtle interplay of light and shadow adds depth and nuance to the space, highlighting the church's architectural restraint. Located nearby is Rossia Mall and the monument to General Andranik, making this a great area to explore and experience the city's architectural diversity. The combination of the church's grand scale and minimalist beauty with the surrounding landmarks creates a unique and enriching experience. This area is definitely worth visiting to appreciate the blend of modern and historical architecture in Yerevan.

An imposing building from the outside and the large interior with minimalist decor is a fresh departure from the usual intricate designs inside. The area surrounding this lovely building is sadly lacking in maintenance and cleaning - don't know who's responsible, hence a lower rating.

We had such a good time here, the place is beautifull in special not "manicured" way. The waiter was very friendly, food and coffee excellent, prepared timely. The gift shop is pricey, but every piece is so beautiful (we found few items in duty free shop and they were even more pricey)

I can say the food is normal no special taste unlike the ambience was quite nice. A lot of tourists and groups visit this place. Service was a bit slow but we do not regret visiting this place as it is a must.

Probably the best place we’ve visited so far in Jerevan. The staff were attentive and proactive, and the food was very good for a fair price. It’s connected to a nice art gallery and has a lovely, well-lit garden in a quiet courtyard. Excellent Karas wine, and the beer was good too. Highly recommended.

A relaxing vibe here and would say it is one of the best restaurants here in Yeveran 🤩 Tried their Arishta with Ghaurma, Omelette with tomatoes, Margherita, Cheese Plate with friends! They are all very salivating. Don't forget to order some glasses of Pomegranate Wine 🍷 It is sweet and sour at the same time to get appetite for the feast 🍲 Shout out to the friendly staff!

This restaurant is set in a lovely back garden with a pleasant ambience. The food offers decent value for money, though I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it purely for the quality. The host was initially insistent on seating us at the very back of the garden, despite available tables at the front where we preferred to sit. After some convincing, we were able to sit where we wanted. Apart from that, the rest of the service was fine. 1. Service: Not bad overall, but the seating issue detracted from the experience – 0.5 stars. 2. Quality: Food was decent but not remarkable – 0.5 stars. 3. Value for money: You mentioned it offers decent value – 1 star. 4. Aesthetics, ambience, and overall experience: Nice ambience in the garden – 1 star.

Museum
Armenian Genocide Museum is located on Tsitsernakaberd Hill, offering a poignant representation of the tragic events that unfolded during the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1922. The museum's architecture, designed by Arthur Tarkhanyan and Sashur Kalashyan in collaboration with artist Hovhannes Khachatryan, seamlessly integrates into the hillside to complement the monument above.
The design of the museum was great but the contents made me a little sad. Photos were amazing, there is also a book and souvenir shop, outside of the museum you can walk in a green area and look at the city view and the memorial of genocide. Each on of these trees is a symbol for a guy who is killed. I'm not that kind of people who are interested in such a subjects but from the historical point of view was very interesting for my friend.
Safa D — Google review
A must visit. The monument is very well constructed and set up well. From the monument, you get a birds eye view of the city. Do take a moment to enter the museum run through the history of the genocide. It's heartbreaking but a story that needs to be told. The write ups are very detailed and laid out in chronological order with images and videos. There is also an audio guide available. We spent 2hrs here in total but could have easily spent more time. Recommend going by taxi as it is long uphill trek on foot.
Sandeep R — Google review
A deeply moving museum that everyone visiting Armenia should see. I highly recommend going with a guide — they explain everything with great care and depth. It’s heartbreaking to learn that nearly half of the country’s population was lost during the genocide. The building and museum are beautifully designed and thoughtfully suited to the emotional weight of the experience.
Shima R — Google review
This impressive museum captures the blood soaked history of Armenia where during 1915 to 1922, more than a million people were massacred by fanatic elements of Ottoman Empire, the photographs, documents, films and other authentic reports reflect the unprecedented human tragedy, the architecture and design is symbolic and have a meaning, the entry to the Museum is free and if any services of guide are hired, one has to pay, however all the exhibits and films have explanatory signages, the Memorial at the site is sums up with unforgettable experience. A must visit to understand the suppressed history of Armenia and understand the agony of the people.
Madan M — Google review
Lest we forget.. I think this should be compulsory visit for all visitors. Highly educatinal. It will take more than an hour to complete the entire exhibit. Do factor in traffic when you're getting there. Took more 40mim to get here on a weekday afternoon from Republic Square.
Paul T — Google review
A very interesting and must see museum when you are in Yerevan. The genocide inflicted by the Turks is absolutely horrendous! When travelling around Armenia you can see how proud people are of their country. The horrific period around WW1 has really united this small population. The museum explains everything well. It’s free to enter, but you are expected to donate some money at the end of your visit.
James G — Google review
Amazingly free. The quality of the museum is superb. High quality history and primary sources. Occasionally blurs
Greg F — Google review
Second time there for me, still totally worthy. The museum itself it's a well structured path that can easily guide a complete ignorant foreigner through the history of an unknown country without feeling lost. But you have to take your time to read more than 30 quite long explicative paragraphs on the wall. I would really encourage that, because what's described there is the story of a premeditated genocide, something you read and you know it's supported by concrete proofs, but still you cannot believe could be truth. What I personally really appreciate it's the last room in which it's told about other genocides of the past or ongoing around the world. It's important to raise awareness that such brutal crimes could happen whenever and wherever. I would recommend to start the visit with the museum and then go outside to the memorial monument, if you follow this order it would be much more impactful experience. It's totally free by the way, not excuses to skip this.

Charles Aznavour Square, named in honor of the renowned French Armenian singer, was established during the 10th anniversary celebrations of Armenian independence. The square is located on Abovyan street and features the Moscow Cinema and Yerevan Golden Tulip Hotel. It pays tribute to Aznavour's contributions to Armenia, including his charitable efforts following the 1988 earthquake. The central pool is adorned with 12 zodiac signs.
This quaint and secure area, reminiscent of the Soviet era, offers a charming atmosphere with an abundance of restaurants, coffee shops, and gift shops. It's a lovely place for a leisurely stroll, but visitors should keep their belongings close.

It is a cozy little square in the heart of the city, very close to Northern Avenue. We enjoyed taking a short break of our city sightseeing tour here. It is pleasant to grab a coffee and to sit a moment at the fountain. The building of the Moscow movie theatre is also one of the more well-known buildings in the city. Enjoy!

Sculptures, a fountain, some kiosks for quick snacks and proper cafes surrounding the square if you want a proper meal or an afternoon apero. The detail on the sculptures surrounding the fountain is amazing. And the entire area seems to be filled with families and tourists alike. Grab a coffee, sit down somewhere and go read a book and just have fun people-watching!
Nabil R — Google review
I visited Charles Aznavour Square with genuine anticipation, drawn by the homage to a legendary artist, but my experience was tragically overshadowed by an atmosphere of blatant racism and outright discrimination from individuals in and around the area. It is absolutely disgraceful that a public space named after a figure representing universal art and humanity would become a stage for such contemptible and "dishonorable" behavior. The beauty of the architecture cannot compensate for the feeling of being unwelcome and targeted based on one's origin or identity. Caution is strongly advised, as the pervasive bigotry ruins any potential enjoyment, turning the visit into a deeply upsetting and regrettable experience.

Megerian Carpet, located in Yerevan, is a combination of a carpet making factory and museum that attracts visitors from around the world. The Megerian Family, originally from Armenia but based in New York, has been deeply involved in the trade of fine hand-made rugs and tapestries for over a century. Established in 1917, Megerian Rugs played a crucial role in reviving traditional Armenian rug weaving and artistic creativity after the Soviet Union's dissolution.
So warm and welcoming, one of the best factory tours I have been on. Not only do you get to see the craftsmanship and hard work that goes into making the best rugs in the world, but you get to see an amazing museum. Juli took such good care of us and even shared coffee and stories.

The famous carpet factory has been partially converted into an event venue and restaurant. We have purchased a few pcs. From here. The quality is absolutely magnificent. They follow strict traditional guidelines and methods to produce their carpets. The colours in their pieces are just different. The event venue is great too. Lots pf traditional offerings.

I arrived there unannounced with no booking because I was walking in the area. Less than 10 minutes later, a person came and started the tour. Aram explained me everything. From the pigments making the colors, to the weaving. You will see the making happening before your eyes. Then he told me about symbols and shapes in the old rugs and there meanings. The tour was in russian language, but if you book in advance they also have it in english. I spent a very interesting moment. Thank you Aram.

A unique contemporary art complex in Yerevan. From the top, there is a breathtaking view of the entire city—both during the day, when all the pink tuff buildings are visible, and at night, when the city's lights shine. With some luck, there is also a view of Mount Ararat.

Stunningly beautiful pyramid with a multi-block greenery surrounded by artistic statues. The pyramid itself has escalators on the inside, with art exhibitions on each level. The exterior of the building was just as spectacular, as the structure itself has the mix of artistic accents, statues, and a great city vista. My advice is to take the escalators up, and walk down. Or if you’d like a hot challenge, walk up and take the escalator down

This should be top of your list for Yerevan. If you are an art nut the various free galleries are great and iconic furniture that decks the halls by the elevators, if that’s not your bag the great views on each level are beautiful. The building is like nothing you’ve seen, the gardens are like walking round Salvador Dahli’s imagination, not to mention the bars and cafes dotted around.

With over 2,000 residents from around the globe, the zoo provides an opportunity to observe wildlife up close. Additionally, visitors can enjoy live feeding viewings and interact with friendly animals at the petting zoo. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or to escape the summer heat in Yerevan.
A wonderful spot to see healthy, happy animals thriving in well-maintained habitats! The zoo’s diverse collection impressed me—from playful monkeys to majestic big cats. Every creature looked well-fed and lively, especially the star attraction: a magnificent, white lion with a gleaming coat and energetic presence. A must-visit for animal lovers! 🦁✨

Today I visited Yerevan Zoo and it was quite an interesting experience. The location is very convenient since it’s close to the city center, making it easy to get there. The zoo itself is large and clean, with plenty of space to walk around and enjoy. However, seeing the animals kept in cages was a bit upsetting, especially the birds, whose small enclosures felt more uncomfortable to watch. Despite that, the variety of animals was impressive, and the overall design of the zoo was beautiful. I’d say it’s a nice place to visit, and overall, it was a positive and memorable experience.
Reza R — Google review
Just finished my visit to the zoo and honestly I was so happy and impressed 😍 This is the first time I see tigers and lions live and so up-close! 🥹 The staff is very nice, make sure you buy solid food when you are buying your entrance ticket as you can feed most of the animals inside 🤗 This is the first time I go to a zoo and literally see all the animals there - some of them are more shy and hide better than others though 😉 The tigers and lions were so impressive, they were the highlight of my visit 💫 The elephant and camel are super cute, the bears and monkeys/baboons are fun to watch, and the different birds/vultures/pheasants were also nice to appreciate up-close and from different angles. Make sure you pass by the reptiles space once you exit the zoo, you will need to walk a few steps forward then take your left - it looks like a small house on the outside. Good to know: -Opening hour is @10AM and it’s better to go early so you can enjoy your time without the zoo being too busy. -Entrance fee is for 1000ADM and a small bag of solid food is for 500ADM. -No need to take water bottles as there are several water fountains inside. -There is a parking space but it is better to take a taxi especially if you are arriving later than noon because it will be packed with cars especially on a weekend. -Expect to walk up and down as the zoo is not on the same level so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and clothes. -Kids will love it there as they will see animals closely and be able to feed them. Happy visit! 🤩

Located in the heart of downtown Yerevan, Freedom Square, also known as Liberty Square, is a bustling town square that forms part of the Yerevan Opera Theater complex. Situated between Swan Lake and Opera Park, it is bordered by four streets: Mashtots Avenue, Sayat Nova, Tumanyan Street, and Teryan Street. This vibrant area is surrounded by attractions such as the Yerevan State Puppet Theatre and the Arno Babajanyan Statue.
Freedom square is the open place South of the Operahouse. It is popular for the little cars that kids can ride and also used for open-air events. It is a wide, open square - flat and all grey. Northern Avenue starts from the square and is the most direct connection when heading to Republic Square. Freedom Square is also one of Yerevan’s most famous public square and the view onto the Operahouse from here is the most well-known.

The English Park, established in the 1860s, is among the oldest parks in Yerevan. It underwent significant renovations until World War I and was the site of Armenia's first modern football match in 1920. Originally named after the 26 Baku Commissars during Soviet rule, it reverted to its original name after Armenia gained independence. Situated on Italy Street near the Italian Embassy, this lush park offers a refreshing escape during summer.
A charming oasis in the heart of the city. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a break under the shade of mature trees. The park is beautifully maintained, offering a clean and tranquil environment with plenty of benches to sit and relax. It’s an ideal place to escape the city's hustle and reconnect with nature.

The Erebuni Archaeological Museum, situated at the base of the Arin Berd hill, showcases a collection of over 12,000 artifacts from prominent archaeological sites including Erebuni Fortress. Established in 1968 to commemorate Yerevan's 2750th anniversary, the museum features ceramics, everyday items, jewelry and more that offer insights into life within the citadel.
A very good historical walk. There is a museum at the entrance which I recommend checking out. It has a number of original artifacts and some history notes in different languages. The hike to the top can be done by stairs, so be prepared for a decent fitness. Once on the top, the reward is a spectacular view of the city, besides the amazing walls of the old city. Worth going!
Amayak U — Google review
Great experience! Highly recommend taking the guided tour, it’s cheap enough and very interesting. Tour guide is very knowledgeable. After the tour, you have an opportunity to explore the area outside and walk around. Amazing history in this area.
Paul L — Google review
The museum is very small, with only a few exhibited items. That's ok, as most of the items are interesting and the real draw is the fortress anyway. As is common in "post-soviet" areas, the archaeological site is not meticulously maintained, but you get to walk through and explore it fully. It's unfortunate that some people apparently feel the need to leave graffiti on the ruins ... But the experience is still worth it if you're intrigued by ancient history and Urartu ... which I am. Note: bring water and be prepared to spend a lot of time fully exposed to the hot sun.
Kenneth A — Google review
Our English-language tour guide, Adel, made this such an enjoyable experience. The museum and its displays are interesting and the hilltop site of the fortress itself is fun to roam around in and view the city from, but Adel's commentary and engaging rapport was what really made this a special experience for us. She is thoroughly knowledgeable about the history of the fortress and Yerevan, and provided valuable context to help us understand the city's development. Even though her work keeps her inside the museum, she gave us good pointers of things to look for when we climbed the hill to the site itself. I highly recommend anyone interested in ancient history to visit, and ask for a tour to get the full experience.

Erebuni Museum was established in 1968. The opening of the museum was timed to coincide with the 2750th anniversary of Yerevan. The Museum stands at the foot of the Arin Berd hill, on top of which the Urartian Fortress Erebouni has stood since 782 BCE. Such a fun, beautiful, clean theme park. We came on a weekday and there was virtually no waiting. There were various rides for each of my kids 1, 9, and 12, and coasters were fun for me and my husband too. There is a small but fun splash park for hot days. There is a diaper changing room in the bathroom which was convenient. A beautiful sit-down restaurant but we didn’t want to spend our time eating so we tried the indoor food and everything was delicious. Of course slightly higher priced than elsewhere but that is expected in theme parks. The only oddity was one attendant not allowing my daughter to ride until her shorts were thoroughly dry - she wasn’t even soaking wet, just had some wet spots on her shorts. Overall a lovely experience, the lights in the evening and views of Ararat are breathtaking!

Overall: This place is super fun and big. There are lots of attractions for kids and adults too. All the equipment seems to be new (and safe). Staff is polite and helpful. There seems to he daily performances for kids. Some attractions in the outside area may not be accessible on a bad or cold weather, so plan accordingly. There are no water fountains so you’ll have to buy the water. Tickets: I wish they had discounts for grownups. We has to pay 100% of ticket price for all members of our party even though some grownups didn’t use any of the attractions. Parking: there is plenty of parking available. Generally it doesn’t seem to be overly crowded. You wouldn’t see lines anywhere.

Great place to spend time with your kids while in Yerevan. Fun for all ages. While we were there, they also had an Fc24 and street soccer tournament. Also, the food court was clean and great. Unlimited rides for 14000 with no wait time, can't beat that.
Levon M — Google review
For those who have never visited this type of amusement park in Europe, Yerevan Park might seem somewhat expensive. However, it is actually not expensive, as it still costs half the price of amusement parks in Europe. Moreover, commentators should understand that this kind of ride requires constant periodic maintenance and specialized professionals, which is very costly for the company. Also, do not forget that cleanliness, elegance, workers, and staff all require salaries—and in order for them to perform their duties properly, they must receive decent pay. In my opinion, everything in this park is superb. Let us not forget that in all the Caucasus countries, there is no amusement park of this size, elegance, and sophistication.

The Martiros Saryan House-Museum, located at 3 Saryan street, is the former home and studio of the renowned Armenian painter Martiros Saryan. As the founder of the modern Armenian school of painting, his personal effects and over 300 artworks are on display in this museum. The collection includes portraits of prominent figures, colorful landscapes depicting Armenia's beauty, still life paintings, as well as photographs and documents from his life.
We had a wonderful tour guide, Artur. He immediately tailored the tour to our needs — we had a 9-year-old child with us, and Artur managed to capture his interest. The tour was incredibly engaging, with vivid and memorable stories. After the tour, we still had time to walk around and explore the exhibits on our own. It’s great that the museum is located right in the city center on a trendy street, so it’s easy to find a place to grab a bite afterwards. Don’t miss the staircase next to the museum building — it features a mosaic of a Saryan painting.

Three floors with paintings depicting different creative periods of Martiros Saryan. A lot of good paintings 👍🏻

Visiting the Martiros Saryan House Museum in Yerevan is an unforgettable experience one that immerses you in the vibrant, soulful world of Armenia’s most celebrated painter. From the moment you step inside (starting from the 3rd floor), you’re surrounded by breathtaking colors that seem to radiate warmth and life. Saryan’s masterpieces don’t just depict Armenia’s landscapes and people; they breathe, glow, and pulse with emotion, making you feel as though you’ve stepped into a dream painted in the richest hues. One of the most moving moments of the visit is the old telephone, where you can hear Saryan’s actual voice. It’s an indescribable feeling like traveling through time and connecting with the artist himself, listening to his words echo through the very walls where he lived and created. It adds a deeply personal touch to the experience, reminding you that behind these legendary works was a man with a vision, a passion, and a voice that still lingers. The museum staff are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, eager to share stories about Saryan’s life and art. Their warmth makes the visit even more special, as they guide you through his home with genuine enthusiasm and pride. Whether you’re an art lover or just someone looking to experience something truly beautiful and soulful, the Martiros Saryan House Museum is a must visit in Yerevan. It’s not just a gallery it’s a journey through color, history, and heart.

We had a very disappointing experience with the service. Upon entering, no one attended to us, even though we were the first customers. Instead, staff started serving people who arrived after us. When another employee finally approached, they asked how many items we wanted, placed a box in front of us, and then walked away to make calls and send messages. We were a group of six and felt completely disregarded. The lack of professionalism and attention left us frustrated, and we decided to leave without being served.

You'd see a lifetime work of an artist in his home. You'd see his transformation from an amateur to a professional. I'm not an artist and I cannot describe it artistically, but you'd enjoy it.
Paya F — Google review
Pleasant artistic atmosphere. It's actually hard to describe the feelings with words but I'll try. First of all it consists of the three floors and Saryan's studio. The guide was telling interesting things of the artist's life and not only. Besides of the paintings portraying Armenian nature tere were a lot books, piano, photos of relatives and etc. Nice museum to get introduced to Armenian visual art
Mary G — Google review
The museum has a pleasant layout, artwork, personal belongings, documents, photographs. Very good to get an overall view of life as well as to see artwork. There was a nice video biography running in one room too. Interesting how Martiros began doing art before revolution, then he witnessed revolution, genocide, civil war and so on, then he progressed after world war 2 in Soviet time... Quite comprehensive overview of life and work. Taking photographs is prohibited but I saw some presumably patriotic Armenian visitors not phased by the warning and openly documenting art work) bold men! Respect! I was sneaky! )🤭
Yura T — Google review
Hours not updated on Google maps by the museum staff in a timely professional manner and additionally staff was also rude when asked a simple question about an upcoming event. Art was wonderful nonetheless!

Saint Mother of God the Mighty Church, located in Yerevan, is the oldest Orthodox church in the city, built on the grounds of a 17th-century monastery. It is a recommended spot for families visiting Yerevan and offers a serene atmosphere away from city noises. The church has historical significance and features exceptional healing impact through its liturgical music. Additionally, it houses a downstairs praying room that is open day and night for visitors seeking solace and spiritual connection.
A must see an old church hidden among building in Yerevan (off Saryan Street).

A very nice, quiet church in the middle of the city. It's difficult to spot, you have to walk past couple of apartments till you reach the gate of the property. You'll see the church from the back and have to walk around to the entrance. One of very rare quiet places in Yerevan that's away from the cars and other city noises.

Located in the Kanaker-Zeytun district, behind the Cascade, the Memorial to the 50th Anniversary of October Revolution offers a breathtaking view of the entire city. The climb to this spot involves ascending hundreds of steps but is definitely worth it for the stunning panoramic views. Along the way, visitors can admire numerous sculptures and find spots to rest and take in the scenery.
to reach it from the cascade you have to walk all the way to the top along the construction path they provide, then up a little metal staircase. cool square, very vast and especially interesting vibe at night. view of the cascade and city is nice
Catherine W — Google review
Tall column but little information and the "garden beds" in the top area are dead and neglected. The way up from the Cascades route is also strange with the poor iron stairs etc.
Vincent O — Google review
The Memorial to the 50th Anniversary of the October Revolution seems like it was intended to be part of the Cascade complex, but it feels somewhat disconnected — likely due to abandoned Soviet-era plans. Although it stands at a higher level than the Cascade, the view from here isn’t significantly better than what you get from the top of the Cascade itself. It’s quite a climb if you’re walking uphill — first along the road and then up around 100 iron steps — so it may not be worth the effort for most visitors. If you still wish to see it, the best way is to go directly to the top (it’s accessible from the nearby highway) and get dropped off there. You can then spend some time exploring and enjoy an easier walk down toward the Cascade. The area between this platform and the Cascade is unfortunately an abandoned construction site, which doesn’t offer much to look at and somewhat overshadows the Cascade from above.
Senthilvel K — Google review
You look up and think….no way! But it’s great to climb all those steps and get to the very top, where the memorial is. Incredible view, very chilled environment in the afternoon, if you’re lucky you can see mount Ararat! Just go easy on those steps 😀!
Ivo J — Google review
Walked all the way here from the bottom of Cascade Complex, totally worth it. You get an amazing view and good workout😆
Ai B — Google review
Impressive but the place does need some restoration work. Great views of the city.
A G — Google review
Given I took the long climb to reach here I was a little disappointed by the monument itself. There’s no signage to explain the history or background, nowhere to sit and admire, and the area felt mostly a construction site. There’s plenty of open space surrounding, so it won’t be busy, but just felt a bit of an anti-climax. Come for the views over the city, but nothing more.
Steve B — Google review
This is an amazing place with a fantastic view of the entire city. the climb there takes some time with hundreds of steps to climb, but definitely worth it. on the way there are many amazing sculptures and many places to get a quick rest and enjoy the view. best time to visit is the afternoon and watch the sun sets on the city.

Lusik Aguletsi House-Museum and Art Cafe is a hidden gem in Yerevan, having opened its doors in 2018. This unique spot offers a blend of art, history, and culinary delights. The museum showcases the life and work of the artist and her family, while also featuring a charming yard with a tranquil pool where guests can relax. Visitors can purchase tickets to explore the museum upstairs for an affordable price or simply enjoy the restaurant without entering the museum area.
This cafe does deserve the high rating it has. It is a very unique type of cafe and the way it has been decorated is quite amazing. Many antique items and good music is played in there as well. Additionally, the staff were very helpful and nice. We ordered different items and they were all delicious . This place is a bit outside of the town so if you aren’t going to get a taxi it will be a long walk from the centre of town.

I took a taxi to get this museum-cafe, and I was upset because I had a problem with the taxi driver (taxi scam). However, all my anger disappeared the moment I stepped in here. Such a beautiful house!!! The house built next to a tall murberry tree was so beautiful in every corner. Staffs spoke good English helped me with the menu. The food was also great (the best sorrel soup I've ever had in Yerevan). It's a place that combines a museum and a cafe. There's not much to see in the museum, but if you pay 2500 local currency, you can look into every corner of this beautiful house. I want to go back in early summer. They said the end of May to the beginning of June is the season of mulberries. Can't wait to go back!!

Incredible house museum with a gallery and an art café! It’s a must-do in Yerevan. An incredibly nice woman at reception accompanied my visit and explained some things even though I didn’t take a guided tour ❤️. The art café workers were also super nice 💘. And the place is just so beautiful and important. Just a slight issue: another guide was really unhappy that I was in the same room visiting the museum while she was guiding. I understand that it's her work, and she should be paid for it. But it’s not a reason to be mean and tell me to go away when I was in the room first and she arrived with her clients while I was also visiting with a paid ticket. If you want your content to be exclusive, close the museum for the guided tour and then let visitors without a tour walk freely in the museum without feeling guilty, like they’re bothering someone, or like they’re "stealing knowledge for free." Anyways, I will come back again. The museum is museuming ✨✨✨✨✨🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶

Visitors can explore past exhibitions that have displayed the complete works of renowned Armenian artists such as Ashot Hovhannisyan, Martin Petrosyan, Minas Avetisyan, and others.
Wonderful museum! They had a regular exhibition for 1500 dram (3,5€), and an additional one by Akhsar Muriev for 500 dram (1,2€). Both were wonderful!

Thankful for Google map identifying this museum. Otherwise people would only hear about it via word of mouth. No significant signs identify the museum entrance. It is housed in vacated Soviet style apartment building. The art inside is worthwhile.

Tiny but mighty! You can see the whole gallery in under an hour, which is perfect if your attention span for modern art runs out after the third abstract painting. I went on a weekday around midday and had the place entirely to myself — probably because it was 40 degrees outside and everyone else was smart enough to hide in the shade. On the bright side, it felt like I had booked a private museum tour… without actually booking anything.

The Yerevan History Museum is a treasure trove of art, photos, and archaeological artifacts that offer a captivating journey through the city's rich history. Established in 1972, this museum showcases modern works by Armenian artists as well as renowned international talents from countries like Russia, France, the United States, and Germany. It provides an immersive experience into contemporary art while also serving as a budget-friendly destination for those seeking to explore Armenia's cultural heritage.
Yerevan History Museum offers an enriching dive into the city's past, featuring an impressive collection that spans ancient artifacts to modern memorabilia. The exhibits are well-curated and informative, providing a comprehensive view of Yerevan’s evolution. The museum is quite compact and therefore is not tiring for visitors of any age. The entrance cost is surprisingly low.

Someone made an effort to create the audioguide in three language and it’s great. If you could just add the numbers from the webpage to the exhibits in order to easily locate what the audioguide is talking about it would be great. That could be an easy job for the staff of the museum that does everything but work, mainly talk to friends on the phone and is being completely useless. Also, someone from the building should learn about the basics of watering plants. You don’t water plants midday at the height of the heat. Complete waste of water. And it’s impossible to pass through.

The Ervand Kochar Museum in Yerevan is a modern art museum dedicated to showcasing the works of the prominent Armenian sculptor, Ervand Kochar. The museum features a rich collection of Kochar's sculptures, paintings, and other artworks. Notable pieces include landmark sculptures such as those of David of Sassoun and Vardan Mamikonyan.
The museum is small, but it is definitely worth a visit. It took about 30 minutes. As for the person's comment regarding staff following them around, it is definitely not what I experienced. Yes, a staff member walked through the gallery rooms with me, but that was because they were providing me information (in English)! The artist has some interesting pieces over 3 separate period styles. I am glad I went for a quick visit. Also, if you have mobility issues, this is easy to visit. All exhibits are on the ground floor. You do have 3 small steps to see in the last exhibit room. Pictures with your phone is allowed - no flash (of course).
Kristin K — Google review
Also loved this and glad the great reviews convinced me to go. I also, like many others, had never heard of this artist and I now LOVE his work, even buying two prints in the small gift shop after. I didn’t pay for an English tour but one was going on whence I arrived so I ended up just joining that one, gratis. The guide, Lillit I think her name is, was excellent. Excellent English and her passion for Kochar’s innovative work really shines through. She even had a a short video started for us on his famous piece, The Disaster of War. Although photos it seems are technically not allowed (a very silly and detractory rule), she let it go so GREATLY appreciate that! Was there easily 1.5 hours. The museum is small but with the excellent guide making his art and story come alive, worth it. Only detracting one star bc I had to use the loo and the woman cleaning the bathroom practically scowled at me, making me feel very uncomfortable. Like I was in the wrong!!

Gotta tell you, in 37 years of my life and traveling to over 40 countries never I encountered a museum with a main door locked on a key 😔 after door was unlocked for us we stepped into entry hallway, which was a disorganized mess with literal piles of garbage visible on all flat surfaces. People who like art are susceptible to this stuff, this is why all museums in the world design their entrance in a minimalistic style and hide as much administrative trash and advertisement publications as possible behind desks. Museum was poorly lit, one alley with probably the only 3 sculptures had no light at all, sculptures were not displayed at the center, but pushed to walls so I could not study them from all angles, most TVs that were supposed to show us something were off. Sorry, no excuse, I visited better organized museums in villages with a population of 3,000 people. Do better.
Sergey M — Google review
What a great artist, I was amazed with his talent and creativity. But I couldn't enjoy the masterpieces how I wanted, because of the way their staff was behaving towards me. Very nice botanical garden but a big part is under construction, so I think it will show it's full potential in the future. Contrary to a lot of reviews, there are quite a few signs that give information on the origin of trees. I recommend it for a short walk or 30'-60' during winter.

At Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, you can see the writer's personal belongings, documents, manuscripts, sketches and publications in more than 45 languages. More than 18,000 exhibits are stored here. The 54 steps of the museum's staircase symbolize the years of Tumanyan's life. Great museum, interesting place.

Hovhannes Tumanyan (Armenian: Հովհաննես Թումանյան, classical spelling: Յովհաննէս Թումանեան) (February 19 [O.S. February 7] 1869 – March 23, 1923) was an Armenian poet, writer, translator, literary and public activist. He is considered the national poet of Armenia. Tumanyan wrote poems, quatrains, ballads, novels, fables, critical and journalistic articles.[2] His work was mostly written in realistic form, often centering on everyday life of his time.[1] Born in the historical village of Dsegh in the Lori region, at a young age Tumanyan moved to Tiflis, which was the center of Armenian culture under the Russian Empire during the 19th and early 20th centuries.[3] He soon became known to the wide Armenian society for his simple but very poetic works. Many films and animated films have been adapted from Tumanyan's works. Two operas: Anush (1912) by Armen Tigranian and Almast(1930) by Alexander Spendiaryan, were written based on his works.

Levon's Divine Underground, now operated by his wife and daughter, stands as a remarkable museum showcasing the stunning underground caverns created by Levon Arakelyan. Visitors can explore the dimly lit passageways and gain insight into the immense effort involved in their construction. The accompanying museum offers a deeper understanding of Levon's vision and dedication. Despite the slightly pricey entrance fee, guests are greeted warmly and guided through the tranquil surroundings with positive energy.
If I could rate this place 6 stars, even ten, I absolutely would! It is an unforgettable experience in a very unique place, personally I've never seen anything like this before, thinking about the fact this whole cave was accomplished by one man is totally mind blowing, almost unbelievable. The cave itself is very deep and has very fresh and cold air inside, it's kind of a fascinating labyrinth, Levon's daughter was very hospitable and offered a great tour around. Later on, 3 local women which also took the tour invited me to their house for a coffee, an indication of the great and friendly local hospitality. Do not skip visiting this place, it's off the usual touristic route but 100% worth the visit! I will never forget this unique house.

It was absolutely amazing experience! It feels like a true miracle, especially considering that it was created by one person alone, over 23 years, and goes 21 meters deep underground. The atmosphere is unique and inspiring, and the story behind it is unbelievable. The map even shows that people from all over the world come here to witness this wonder. Truly a must-see!

Amazing experience! I never saw anything like this the project of a man it’s actually inspiring. Super hospitable family! The entrance fee is paid by cash.

Amazing work but : - I feel the host (daughter) is rushing me to finish the walk, not much explanation unless you ask, she tells a word or two, after not buying souvenir, mom shows unhappy face. Basically I ignore her push especially I know I have paid double. I just keep taking photos and video and stop to admire the work. - a group just finish and tell me to prepare 1000 dram but upon house door opens and I ask if it is 1000 dram, host (the daughter) said 2000 dram. I immediately find myself being cheated before the visit. Honestly, I admire the 23 years work of the father BUT I don’t enjoy the process of her “hospitality” to tourist.

Visited this amazing place and cannot believe how one man did all this with just hammer and chisel . What an achievement Only downside I felt we were a little rushed around the cave by the guide So interesting a must visit if in Yerevan though

Levon's Divine Underground is a testament to the power of a single individual's determination and vision. This incredible subterranean network, carved entirely by hand beneath a home in the village of Arinj, showcases what can be achieved when a person is driven by an unyielding purpose. The story begins in 1985 when Levon Arakelyan's wife (whom we met) simply asked him to dig a potato cellar. But what started as a simple request transformed into a 23-year-long obsession. Working almost every day, often for up to 18 hours, Levon chiseled his way through solid rock using only a hammer and chisel. He was guided by what he described as a "divine voice" or visions, and without any blueprints, he created a complex labyrinth of rooms, corridors, and spiral staircases reaching a depth of 21 meters. Sadly, he passed away in 2008 while still working on his masterpiece. A Tale of Two Visionaries The sheer willpower behind Levon's creation is remarkably similar to the story of Ferdinand Cheval, the French postman. Like Levon, Cheval was a humble man driven by a grand, almost-unbelievable dream. For 33 years, Cheval spent his daily postal rounds collecting stones and pebbles, which he then used to build his fantastical "Ideal Palace" in Hauterives, France. His work was also a solitary, self-taught endeavor, and he faced skepticism from his neighbors. Both men demonstrate that true artistry and architectural genius can emerge from the most unexpected places and do not require formal training or sophisticated tools. Their shared legacy is a powerful reminder that with immense patience, sacrifice, and unwavering belief, a single person can accomplish something truly monumental and everlasting. Levon's Divine Underground is more than just a cave; it's a profound monument to human spirit and resolve.
Garo K — Google review
This place is an evidence what one man can achieve if he follows his heart
Alex P — Google review
The undeniable craftsmanship of Levon's underground labyrinth is sadly overshadowed by the profoundly offensive and aggressive anti-Turkish sentiments displayed by the family members managing the site. Instead of offering a welcoming space to appreciate the late Levon's incredible human achievement, the atmosphere is poisoned by unwarranted political rhetoric and blatant racism directed at visitors perceived to be Turkish. Such a powerful testament to human creativity should inspire wonder and connection, not serve as a platform for narrow-minded bigotry and exclusion. The experience was deeply unsettling and completely ruined by the personal hostility, making this a site that actively and shamefully betrays the universal spirit of art and perseverance it claims to celebrate. An experience rooted in prejudice, which must be condemned.

Each capital city has that park or area where artists gather as a community. France Square in Yerevan is that place. Painters from all over proudly exhibit their craft as people passing by appreciate it. The artists on the western end --- farther from the statue seem to have a more eclectic and alternative style than your common painter. Be sure to go to that part for something different;

The idea to erect a statue to David of Sassoun, the epic hero of the national epic Daredevils of Sassoun, emerged in the late 1930s since the one thousandth anniversary of the epic was celebrated in Soviet Armenia in 1939. The authorities decided to have a statue to David of Sassoun be erected in the square in front of the Yerevan Railway Station to greet the visitors of Yerevan, since the majority of visitors to Yerevan came by train at the time. The cinema features four theater halls showcasing new movie releases and serving as the venue for the annual Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival. Situated centrally, it offers a positive experience with comfortable seating despite limited snack options. This is a sad version of what a professional escape room should be. Very amateur and poorly made. We actually left after seeing the first puzzle and how poorly it was designed. 🚨Absolutely disgraceful experience at Shangri-La Casino! From the moment I walked in, the reception staff were rude, unprofessional, and completely unwelcoming. The entire team lacks basic manners and customer service skills. It’s shocking that a so-called ‘luxury’ casino operates with such a low standard of professionalism. I would never recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent and respectful atmosphere. Avoid this place if you value your time and dignity!
FOCUS — Google review
I had a deeply disappointing experience at Shangri-La Casino in Yerevan, and I strongly advise any foreigner or tourist thinking of visiting — especially to play poker — to reconsider. The environment in the poker room is toxic and feels like a setup. The regulars are all locals who clearly know each other and, from my experience, play from the same pocket. Their main goal seems to be targeting and draining any outsider who walks in. This isn’t just speculation — the way hands play out, the dynamics at the table, and their coordinated behavior all point to one thing: collusion. Even worse, the pit bosses and floor staff turn a blind eye. Players freely talk during hands — which is a serious violation in any reputable casino — and when you raise it with the staff, they do absolutely nothing. It’s either negligence or complicity, but either way, it’s unacceptable. If you’re a tourist looking for a fair and professional gaming environment, Shangri-La is not the place. There are far better, safer, and more respectful venues elsewhere. Don’t risk your money or your experience here.

It is a fairly small establishment compared to Vegas, Morango, or San Manuel casinos in California, but it is nicely done with card tables, roulette, and slots. I don’t recommend this casino at all no one is professional from the reception to the dealer nobody speaks English in good way , they have crazy rules I never experienced it in any casino I planned to spend around 20k$ i need up spending 100$ the blackjack guy was making fun of me !!!

For the first time in my life I went to casino and shangrila was so nice , and again I will go . I wish maybe there was some option for amateurs. It was very better for some one like me .
Pooria M — Google review
I went there and played the games that I enjoy, but don’t recommend that place because they charge you for entry fees and they force you to change your money from dollar to dram when you enter the force you to return it back to dollar….. thank you

Nestled on the scenic Tsitsernakaberd hill, the Sport/Concert Complex after Karen Demirtchian is a striking example of Soviet-era architecture that has become an integral part of Yerevan's landscape since its opening in the 1980s. This impressive venue offers stunning views of the city and serves as a multifunctional space for various events, from sports championships to concerts.
The Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex is an impressive and versatile venue in Yerevan. Key points this review covers: * Positive overall impression: Clearly states it's a great venue. * Versatility: Highlights its ability to host various types of events. * Capacity: Mentions its large size, suitable for big events. * Facilities: Notes the well-maintained infrastructure. * Staff: Commends the helpfulness of the staff. * Location: Points out the iconic and appealing location. * Recommendation: Explicitly recommends it for large events and exhibitions in Armenia.

Only checked out the building from outside when walking toward the Genocide Museum. It does look interesting with a nice park surrounded to walk around.

A good place to enjoy any activities, located at high level, from there you have a nice view of the city. Try to get you ticket in advance

What a super, super cool spot and building. Can't find it in any guidebooks but it should absolutely be. What an architectural gem. Visit!

This place is high up and gives great views of Yerevan. This is great place to have a nice walk . I quite like the operatic music in the background near the tree section. The toilets were closed when I went.

The Green Palace Hotel & Sauna is a relaxed accommodation option in a serene area of Yerevan. The hotel offers various amenities such as breakfast, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa facilities including saunas and hot tubs, and free WiFi and parking. The suites are well-equipped with modern conveniences like private pools, balconies, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and luxurious en suite bathrooms with spa baths.
I recently stayed at Green Palace Hotel in Yerevan and I must say, it was a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly polite, kind and helpful, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The room service was perfect - my room was always kept clean and tidy, with fresh towels and linens every day. The bed was comfortable and I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast at Green Palace Hotel was a highlight of my stay. It was delicious and complete, with regional specialties like sausage, egg, milk and cookies. It was the perfect way to start my day. While the location of the hotel was a little bit far from the historical regions of Yerevan, it was great for relaxing. The hotel had a peaceful atmosphere, which made it easy for me to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel also has several spa, which I unfortunately didn't have time to use, but it looked great. The lobby area is spacious and stylish, with seating areas to relax or work. Overall, I highly recommend Green Palace Hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Yerevan. The staff, room service and breakfast were all top-notch and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on my next trip to Armenia.

This place is really well supervised hotel. With good quality of staff and services. Especially the girl taking care of tourists. I think the hotel is good if you would stay a way from the center. Also, it is family friendly hotel. The staff will do their best to serve you in a good manner.

I enjoyed the hotel's SPA rooms only, but boy it was good. The Relax room was perfect. A pool with a slide, 3 stores of hamams, saunas, and jacuzzis. It was pricey but totally made my stressful day into a heaven.

Very neat and clean hotel. Cozy n comfortable rooms with beautiful garden. Breakfast is superb and hospitality is great. All the people at the reception who speak english go out of their way to help us. They found us a taxi with driver Karo who is super sweet new helpful. Though he doesn't understand English but still tried his best to show us all the places. Will visit again with family. With love not lots of memories😎

Man over the counter in the Nightshift, tried to charge me twice as what I had booked in booking dot com. When he knew that I had a reservation then tried to threaten me as a foreigner tourist!
