This place is a preserved area. This was initially built as a small zoo but later it was converted into an animal preserve centre. This preserve is home to Takin, the national animal of Bhutan We had some good time walking around the trail in the park. There are some good climbs and slopes. It was like hiking. There is a Café on the trail. We had some nice coffee and pastries/cookies. It’s a peaceful place. We spent around one hour here.

A unique and serene experience! The Royal Takin Preserve is a peaceful escape in the heart of nature. Seeing Bhutan’s national animal up close is truly special. The forest trail is quiet and refreshing. A must-visit in Thimphu!

This reserve in itself felt like a mini trail. You need to cover the entire reserve on foot and I recommend to do that before the trek to tiger nest so it acts as a warm up. You see Takin and other animals and birds which you don't see otherwise. There is a cafe at the top, and you get plenty of options there. Overall a good experience.

This is a very enjoyable and efficient way to see much of the wildlife of Bhutan. The elevated walkway gives you great views of at least a dozen species. Try to get there early because the crowds quickly grow.

Nice and relaxing place to walk around and see some animals, including takin, deers yaks, mountain/blue goats, and some pheasants. It has a cafe after the entrance and another cafe at the end of the path. Public toilets also available.

A very mysterious mythological creature, Takin the National animal of Bhutan. Head of goat on the Body of cow. Beautifully constructed elevated structural walkway to enjoy the animals closely.

It is a bit long way to climb and walk but is pretty safe. Gives a good opportunity to see Takin and other animals like yak, sambar deer, etc

Beautiful garden with wisteria covering all the walls and the sound of tinkling bells coming from very large spinning bells. Built for world peace. Has a special feel to the whole place, and a lovely butter lamp temple in the grounds.

When I visited the National Memorial Chorten in Thimphu, I immediately felt the deep sense of peace that everyone talks about. Located right in the heart of the city, this white stupa with its golden spire isn’t just a monument — it’s a living symbol of Bhutan’s devotion, faith, and love for its late Third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, known as the Father of Modern Bhutan. Built in 1974 by his mother, Queen Phuntsho Choden Wangchuck, it was her way of fulfilling his wish to build a chorten representing the “mind of the Buddha.” As I walked around the stupa, I joined locals — elderly people, monks, and families — who were circumambulating clockwise, spinning large red prayer wheels and softly chanting mantras. The air was filled with the sound of fluttering prayer flags and the gentle ringing of bells, which gave the whole place an incredible sense of calm. It felt like time slowed down here; even in the center of busy Thimphu, this spot was pure serenity. Architecturally, the chorten is stunning. Its Tibetan-style design flares outward like a vase and gleams under the sunlight. Inside, each floor is filled with intricate paintings and statues — from fierce protector deities to serene Buddhas — all meant to guide the mind toward peace and enlightenment. Though photography isn’t allowed inside, the art and atmosphere stay with you long after you leave. What really touched me most was watching how deeply this place is woven into daily life. Locals come every morning and evening to pray, meditate, or just sit quietly — and as a visitor, you can’t help but feel moved by their devotion. The best time to visit, I found, is early morning or late afternoon when the light hits the golden spire and the energy feels especially spiritual. In the end, the National Memorial Chorten isn’t just something to see — it’s something to feel. It’s a place where Bhutan’s spirituality, culture, and history come together beautifully, and it left me with a lasting sense of peace and gratitude.

This memorial was built to honor Bhutan's third king. Very awesome and magnificent. Looks really majestic at night. Lots of local people visiting the place doing all sorts of activities - Turing the prayer wheel, going round and round the stupa while chanting at the same time, making prostrations in front of the stupa, taking photos, people watching.

The National Memorial Chorten is a Stupa located in Thimphu and is said to be built in 1974 by Her Majesty Gyalyum Ashi Phuntsho Choden Wangchuck in memory of His Majesty, the Third Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. We visited mid morning and there were already many locals either walking clockwise around the brilliant white building or sitting silently in a shady spot meditating. It was constructed in 1974 to honour the third king of Bhutan by the king’s mother. Well worth a visit when in Thimpu.

Interesting history behind building this place. It's got 3 levels inside that we can climb up inside the main sanctum and see although photos aren't allowed.

We spent a few hours at the Folk Heritage Museum after enjoying a banquet lunch at the restaurant. We observed outdoor activities as our own tour guide showed us how mud brick dwellings were made by compaction. We then tried a dart game and then tried our hand at archery - which is the national sport of Bhutan. We then made our way inside the grounds of a traditional dwelling. We saw a woman weaving using a traditional loom. I bought a stunning wool piece from her that is now proudly a table runner in my home. It takes her 1 day to make each one and she sells direct to visitors which is fantastic as she gets all the earnings. Be careful of buying woven products downtown as they can be machine mass produced and imported from Nepal or China. Inside the dwelling we went up narrow ladders to the different floors, saw how grains were kept, the kitchen area and open fire for cooking and how all the family would live and sleep in the same room. There was also an impressive display of weaponry and agricultural equipment. On the way out we saw a man traditionally carving wooden face masks that are sold inside the artisans shop. It is wonderful to see these skilled craftspeople keeping up Bhutanese traditions.

The National Folk Heritage Museum (Phelchey Toenkhyim) in Thimphu, Bhutan, offers a living glimpse into the traditional rural life and culture of the Bhutanese people. A good display of Bhutan's heritage. There is a restaurant inside the museum area which is nicely decorated and offers their traditional food. It's very expensive though. but it's a good experience. They even show you how traditional Bhutanese people eat with their utensils.

A peaceful place that brings Bhutan’s rural past to life. Walking through the traditional courtyard, you get a real sense of how Bhutanese families once lived — mud floors, wood stoves, and homemade Ara on the shelf. The exhibits are simple but authentic, from traditional tools to local textiles and attire. The weaving display and regional patterns map are especially worth a look. You can even try the local wine, Ara — a homemade spirit most similar to sake, but with a Bhutanese twist.

Its always a pleasure to understand how our Culture have evolved to this present stage. When we see such Museums we understand what we were and what we are now. This Folk Heritage Museum of Bhutan is another good example of of preserving the old memories. The also make here the Traditional Wine here. The wine and some handicrafts etc. are sold here. There is also a restaurant here who serve Bhutan Dishes. I liked it and was amused also.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We went on a self guided tour of the traditional Bhutanese home. We were able to see everything at a leisurely pace in a little over one hour. It felt very authentic and we even tried our hand at archery. There is also a weaver who makes beautiful scarves and a woodworker. There is a restaurant for those that want a traditional dining experience. This museum is a gem in Thimphu and I would highly reccomend it.

The Buddha Dordenma statue is truly a sight to behold! Towering over Thimphu, it offers a sense of serenity and spiritual calm. The views of the city from here are absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise or sunset. The statue itself is majestic and beautifully crafted — one of the largest sitting Buddhas in the world. Inside the base, you’ll find thousands of smaller Buddha statues and peaceful meditation halls. The atmosphere is calm and respectful, with locals and tourists alike offering prayers. A must-visit when in Bhutan — not just for the views, but for the spiritual experience as well.

You would literally be in awe with the grandeur. Beautiful place with an amazing 360° view. Every corner is picturesque. Not allowed to click pictures inside the temple but you can click as many from the outside. The entire story of Gautam Buddha is narrated with the help of paintings and you would enjoy your time there.

I have Visited several times and every time found the place very peaceful with stunning views over Thimphu Valley. The site is well-maintained and offers a calm environment to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Definitely one of the best spots to see the city from above.

I came here for the Global Peace Prayer Festival. It is a tremendous event for the world peace and thousands of people aggregated here for peace blessing. I hope every sentient beings are all blessed and the Buddha light stay with you all.

Very lucky to visit on the days of Global Prayer Festival. There was several hours long line for local pilgrims lining up to make offerings, however tourists like myself were allowed to enter from a side door without the wait. The event is very colorful with many temporary colorful towers erected in front of Buddha. There was also a large tent inside which monks were chanting, perhaps around 100 or more monks. Buddha itself is also quite interesting The base contains exposition of hubdrents of small Buddha's, wall paints. The base have few stories and I suggest to go up as there are some quite scarry and erotic looking sculptures on levels 3 and 4. I did enjoy offering to the dieties, walking around in th crowd, and visiting inside the Buddha base. My guide tried to explain me all the stories painted on the walls, but I fot quite confused with all th versions of dieties and Buddha's.

National Library of Bhutan or NLB was established in 1967 and possesses a wide collection of 6100 Bhutanese and Tibetan books, xylographs and manuscripts as well as 9000 printing boards and wooden printing blocks for religious books. It has one of the largest holdings of Buddhist Literature in the entire world and it is one of the best places to visit in Thimpu. It has a dedicated collection and promotes religious and cultural heritage of Bhutan in the form of ancient printed resources related to history, religion, traditions, and culture of Bhutan. Highlights: The building is two-storied with staff accommodations, administrative offices along with technical equipments like computers, microfilm section, separate room for wooden books and much more. Located in: Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Open from : 9:30 am to 5:00 pm (Monday to Friday) in March to October and 9:30 am to 4:00 pm in November to February and remains closed on government holidays and weekends. It is a complete representation of Buddha.

A very small library and museum located across the road from the Heritage Folk Museum. There isn't a huge amount of the collection with English signs, a lot of manuscripts and scrolls in Bhutanese language. There is the largest book in the world as recognised by The Guiness Book of Records. We spent about 20 minutes looking around but didn't go upstairs. Outside was a very large Bhutanese National Flag that looked very impressive flapping in the wind.

It’s a small library in Thimphu but earns the honour as a national institution of Bhutan. The collection is predominantly in Bhutanese language with some in English. The flower beds at the entrance are excellent. One has to take out the shoes before entry. However, photography is possible. A significant attraction at this place is an enormous sized published book. It contains only a hundred and forty-four pages. But, a new page is flipped through once in a month. Thus to appreciate the entire volume, a viewer will need twelve years! As expected, the library had a desolate look. Was it a reflection of redundancy of printed material?

Traditional Bhutanese building having a great treasure of country cultural history. The official of the library treated me and my other fellows with great respect and love. One could easily found the traces of near past of literary Bhutan.

This peaceful place houses the world's largest printed book... And there is a world record certificate to prove it! If you can ignore the noisy tourists and gyides it is a quiet place to look at some historical documents.... For god's sake it's a library! Picture of the Bhutanese kings and some with indian leaders adorn the wall.

Interesting place capturing the progress of Bhutan over the years. A majority of the books are in dzongka. A few English books can be found too. Connoisseurs of Indo Bhutan history might find some interesting artifacts here. Scriptures related to different subsects of Buddhism can be found here as well

Amazing experience while exploring the live museum which gracefully showed the culture of Bhutan. The guide Gita explained very graciously Tried their butter Tea , Ara , yellow rice ( Meethi bhaat) Amazing dance performance by the locals Definitely a must visit experience Although the ticket price at 1000/- was a bit high in my opinion.

Is an interactive living museum that gives one an introduction to various aspects of traditional life in Bhutan. A place to experience and see replicas of traditional house building, archery, cooking, dancing. Firstly, visitors are served the traditional rice wine, Ara. I like the demonstration of how butter tea is made. One can try out archery, testing your throwing skills by tossing coins into a wishing well, see traditional musical instruments, cooking utensils and containers in the kitchen.

As the name placard says, Simply Bhutan is a living museum. It shows life in Bhutanese village - how they build house, cook (utensils used), prepare butter tea, store food, their traditional dance, art, and sports (archery). They serve arra (a sort of rice wine) as welcome drink in a small bowl to taste (not for kids). You can drink more if you like it. This is done in batches when it is crowded and you might to have to wait for some time for your turn to get in after buying the ticket. Simply Bhutan's staff are the guides here. All the staff are dressed in traditional dress of Kira(women) and Go(men). They show how they preserve butter in bamboo boxes for months! (The temperature is pretty low in Thimpu, probably that helps in preserving). You can donate to a disabled artist if you'd like. They then make us seated in sofas and men and women dance to Bhutanese songs. We are served (including kids) butter tea and sweet rice. After couple of dance, we're given opportunity to dance with them (to watch and follow). It was fun! Next, we get chance to try archery. If you manage to hit the target board, they perform a victory dance for you! There's a wishing pond at the exit. You take 5 coins and they spin an empty bowl on top of water. You make a wish and try to throw the coin inside bowl. It's said that if the coin falls and stays inside the bowl, your wish will come true! It was a great way to visualize and experience Bhutanese culture. A lot of people depend on tourism for their livelihood and the cost of living is high(a traditional dress costs 7000inr and upwards!), so I understand the expensive entry fees. Here, I felt it was worth it.

Had an extraordinary experience here as were lucky enough to listen to a few hours of Buddhist chanting for world peace and it was stunning! With drum and wind instruments too. The inside is beautifully decorated with silk lanterns and alters. I received a blessing from the chief abbot and was welcomed with tea and biscuits. It has a very special energy indeed.

Simtokha Dzong is one of the oldest dzongs in Bhutan and full of history. It has beautiful traditional architecture and a calm atmosphere. The views from the top are also lovely. A quiet and meaningful place to visit while in Thimphu!

This place was surreal. You are transported to a different world inside the temple. You wonder isn't this what places of worships were supposed to be like, awakening a sense of awe and making you feel humble. There are some beautiful art depecting the teaching of Buddha. Lots of diya's, prestine, sparkling. A giant Buddha sitting in meditation, ozzing pure bliss.

Visited in June 2023. Simtokha Dzong, aka Sangak Zabdhon Phodrang which means "Palace of the Profound Meaning of Secret Mantras", is a small dzong. It was built in 1629 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, who unified Bhutan. It is an important historical monument and former Buddhist monastery. Currently, it is one of the premier Dzongkha language learning institutes.

Although certainly not one of the more visually striking or impressive dzongs in Bhutan, this one happens to be the oldest. There is a lot of history in this place, being built by the first Chief Abbott of Bhutan who unified the country. There are also nice views of the valleys below and the mountains above. I would definitely recommend visiting here as it will give you a lot of historical information and context which will help you with some of the other sites you will visit later in your trip.

Beautiful garden, reflecting Bhutan's commitment to preserving the nature and environment, and also their and rich biodiversity. Our entire tour group of sr citizens loved the short walking path, leading to a beautiful small tranquile pond. Spent some leisurely time around.

Dropped by the botanical garden in Serbithang , hoping for a refreshing nature experience just outside Thimphu. While the setting is peaceful and the space has real potential, it felt like it still has a long way to go. The garden needs more diverse and vibrant plant collections, better signage, and regular maintenance to match what you'd expect from a national-level botanical space. For the entry fee charged, the experience didn’t quite feel worth it—yet. With a little more love and attention, this place could become a truly beautiful spot for locals and tourists alike. Here’s hoping it blossoms in time!

The Royal Botanical Garden in Serbithang is a tranquil escape just 15 kilometers from Thimphu. Spanning 28 acres, the garden was established in 1999 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. It's a delightful spot for nature lovers, featuring a diverse array of Bhutan's native plants, including over 600 species of orchids and various rhododendrons. A highlight is the serene Japanese Garden and the charming Rose Garden. The site also offers a small viewpoint where one can enjoy stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. It's a perfect place for a leisurely walk, a picnic, or simply to relax and soak in the beauty of Bhutanese flora. Accessing the garden is straightforward, with options to rent a car or take a taxi from Thimphu, making it an ideal day trip. The garden is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and visiting during spring provides a particularly enchanting experience with blooms in full display. Overall, the Royal Botanical Garden at Serbithang is a must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat amidst nature, away from the hustle and bustle of Thimphu.

It's a peaceful nature walk among a variety of beautiful trees, flowers, and other plants. I don't recommend visiting it during winter as it's mostly dry, cold, and windy. Though the garden authority permits having an open-air picnic with family and friends, again, winter isn't a time for it. The area isn't so huge. There are a few slides, swings, and rides for kids, cafeteria, and canopies. The entry isn't free. The tickets cost different for adults, children, foreigners, SAARC country citizens.

Royal Botanical Garden is the perfect place for nature lovers. Away from city crowd and noise it is the place to experience peace. The garden is on full bloom in May and June. You can see amazing varieties of flowers and trees in the garden. The entrance of the garden is beautifully decorated.There are many landscapes. Many birds and beautiful butterflies are there. A view point is there from where you can see the the city view and Buddha Point. It is a nice place to enjoy a picnic day with your family and especially with kids. There is a small cafeteria where you can get tea, coffee and snacks.

The Royal Botanical Garden is just 15 minutes drive from the Thimphu city. Has a good variety of plant and tree species. A leisure walk in the garden will definitely give a peaceful vibe.

Nothing great that I found in the botanical garden. They haven't even displayed the names of different plants/trees available there, so it's difficult to identify the flora . No guide is available to tell about the same. A small cafeteria is in place for some refreshments. People come with families for picnic. A quiet place to have a good time. A one time visit place.

I was only in Thimpu for a day and didn’t get to visit the market until the morning of my departure. Unfortunately the market only opens at 9am which seems a little late for fresh produce market. At 8am, vendors were unloading their produce and setting up their booths. It’s a bright, spacious and clean market. There were vegetables (a lot of chilies), fruits and dried seafood.

I visited the Centenary Farmers Market on a Monday around 3 PM. Most of the vendors were there, and the stalls were beautifully arranged, everything neat and spotless. The produce looked fresh, often pre-packed into bags — something I hadn’t really seen at other markets. But despite the perfect presentation, the market felt strangely empty. There were hardly any shoppers, and it was missing that lively, buzzing vibe I usually associate with local markets. It’s definitely a beautiful place and worth seeing, but don’t expect a bustling atmosphere — at least not on a weekday afternoon.

The Bhutan Centenary Farmers Market is a great place to explore local life. It’s full of fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and handmade goods. You can see what the locals eat and buy, and even try some unique Bhutanese ingredients. It’s busy, colorful, and a fun stop if you want to experience the everyday culture of Bhutan!

The Centenary Framer's market in Thimpu, Bhutan. It's a well decorated vegetable and fruits market. You can enjoy the cleanness of the market. The shopkeepers are very friendly. You can get fresh fruits and vegetables here.

Very big market not so busy its neat and clean. You can buy all organic vegetables,fruits milk product, dry fish, red rice different lentils etc. there are few food stalls too where you can have some snacks and drinks too.

LOCAL COMMUNITY SYNERGY  Vegetables and produce from farms all over, all fresh & organic.  Great support to local community.  Some 400 stall on 2 floors. Well planned, airy, and easy to access and exit.  Avoid Monday, other days are open 7 am-7 pm.  Great way of interacting with local people, all so nice & friendly.  Fruits & vegetables ae all affordable and seasonal.  Plenty of small children all around, so lots of entertainment.  Vibrant colors and fresh aroma, deadly connect with nature.

One of the best experiences to have in Bhutan. It has an exclusive facility of getting your personalised valid Bhutanese postage stamps. We were 11 pax in the group and we all got ourselves 1 personalised postage stamp. We also posted some postcards to our hometown. It was a lifetime experience to have the postage stamp of your own. I love this idea by the Bhutan government..

At the Pangri Zampa Astrology School inside the ancient monastery of Thimphu, ancient teachings continue to be passed on from generation to generation.

Right after enjoying Buddha Dordenma, my guide took me to this trail, starting very close to Buddha Dordenma. Normally it takes about an hour but because I was a snail and I took too many pictures, I did the trail for about 2-2,5 hours in total 🤣. The weather was nice, not too hot, just a bit chilly, so it was very comfortable to walk the trail. Would recommend!

Perfect hiking trail that leads to mesmerizing view of capital city and it will take you to the famous Buddha Statue. However, while hiking be careful of people cycling on that trail. (Some cyclist comes in speed)

Short trail, kids and grannies can take up this hike trail easily. Though I would recommend only skilled cyclists to take the cycle trail. The view is magnificent and cool breeze refreshes your mind.

The best cycling trails within Thimphu is trail from Buddha point to Changangkha base and to Takin Zoo to Wangditse and to the Jungshina base as per my experience. There are many trails around Thimphu city. This trails takes at least 3hrs to complete for a beginner cyclist.

On our way back from Buddha Dordenma Statue to Thimpu city, we stopped at this designated viewpoint... offering a panoramic birds's view of Thimphu city and its surrounding hills. It was nice spending some time here, and it's a good spot to click pictures. I personally found the view of Thimphu valley better from Tashichho Dzong Viewpoint, which is further down the hill, and where we stopped later.

It is about 20 minutes drive from the capital city. From this viewpoint, we could get a amazing view of entire city of Thimphu and its surrounding mountains. There is even a small open gym and the road to this viewpoint is commonly used in the morning and evening for outdoor exercise. There are colourful prayer flags and pine trees within this area. This place is one of the best spot for photographing the entire city of Thimphu. There is nothing more to do at this place so just having a brief visit sounds good. I visited this place after visiting the Takin zoo as they are close to each other. I really enjoyed the view and the fresh air. Time of travel: July 2018

Lhudròng memorial garden in Thimphu is a beautiful place to spend time with nature. It is located behind the Thimphu Dzong. You can get the amazing view of the Dzong from here.The park is very big, clean and green. Beautiful landscapes and ponds having fishes make you feel happy. Take a walk and feel fresh and cool breeze, that will refresh you. Beautiful and colourful flowers, huge varieties of plants all around are like a treat to your eyes. The Thimphu Chu river flowing here, enhance the beauty of the park. It is a nice place to spend time with your loved ones especially with kiddos.

Nearest to my location and dearest for my niece. She love it when we visit these garden. She would insist me to carry a loaf of bread so we can feed fishes there in the pond. One of my best natural park or garden that was beautifully laid down. You have a lunch spot, open and clean. The Thimphu chu river adds to the calmness and beauty of the place. There are varieties of flowers, all native to the Himalayan regions of Bhutan growing and blooming at different seasons. It’s a accessible by road as well as by a cantilever bridge across the Thimphu river.

The Bhutan Textile Museum or the National Textile Museum is a national textiles museum in Thimphu, Bhutan. If is located near the RTA building.

It features a stunning display of ancient and modern textiles, and explores the rich traditions of Bhutan's national arts of thagzo (weaving) and tshemzo (embroidery). The ground floor focuses on royal ghos, including the wedding clothes worn by the fourth king and his four wives. The upper floor introduces the major weaving techniques, styles of local dress and types of textiles made by women and men. No photography is allowed.

This museum introduces their history of their traditional costumes and jewellery from their forefathers. No photography is allowed. Before you enter the museum, there will be a short video for better understanding. It’s not a very big place but unexpectedly we spent almost an hour listening to our guide’s sharing.

Best place to learn about Bhutanese textile culture with all the textile that exist in Bhutan can be seen here. Next to textile museum you will find international corporations and some agency. Big surrounding with parking lot. Its very clean toilet facilities are there too. Don't miss if you want to learn about textile history and culture that existed in Bhutan.

Preserving Bhutan's Traditional Textile Designs. The Bhutan Royal Textile Academy had been established to preserve the traditional Bhutanese style textile. They have a large complex which houses a museum, and rented to BPC, different offices and a restaurant. The office building is well maintained and interior are decorated with modern fittings. The offices here include BPC, JICA, ADB, World Bank, East West Safari, Bhutan for Life etc.

Beautiful work. It took months to make some of the textiles due to the intricate designs. They also showed us patterns made for the royal family. All handmade.

Worth the time to make a visit. They have two museum exhibition galleries that are well set out with items displayed very professionally which makes them easy to view and appreciate.

This museum is not for profit and having Royal Queen of Bhutan's permission to showcase Bhutanese artifact. This place is but costly which particularly charges different prices to different countries. For Indian it charges RS 💯 or NU 100 or for SAARC people. You can see major weaving habits of different regions of Bhutan along with different kinds of cotton used to knit fabrics. This place is also famous to purchase Bhutan t-shirts which you can find outside too but quality over here is better✌️☺️

An organization which works to preserve and promote weaving art of Bhutan. It showcase Textile arts through various exhibitions. It has large exhibition gallery which has many pieces from all over Bhutan. You van also see live weaving and embroidery session at its Weaving Centre.

Really cool pub at Thimphu! Didn’t expect the atmosphere to be that friendly and welcoming. The band O’Strangers was playing when we went and they played a few songs for us. The locals highly recommended this pub. I tried a local Bhutanese ale and it was really flavourful.

It's a must visit place if you are looking at exploring the night life of Thimphu. There are various live bands which perform here on daily basis. The atmosphere was electrifying and we loved our time spent here!!

One of the most happening place in Thimphu after dark. They have live music, affordable drinks and great crowd. They are open till midnight. Normally Wednesdays and weekends are busy. Tuesdays are dry day. A must visit if you are in Thimphu.

A good night club with music. Firstly you are charged 250 per person for entry they claim it goes to the musicians. Once inside you just need to grab a seat order and pay instantly , you are served drinks and snacks, don't expect dinner or sort. Just a place to chill out like. The place is bit priced but well for the ambiance and the service it's worth it do recommend if in Thimphu.

This is a great place to chill in the evenings. You have a live band playing. There's a bar. Outside you have a bond fire. While we were traveling in Bhutan we met some of the best people here. The band even dedicated a song to us so we get comfortable. We received so much of love. I would say no other city in the world could make you feel so special as we felt while we were here.

Great place to spend your nightlife in the capital city thimphu. However, the place is lively only on weekends and Wednesday. We couldn't witness Monday Bluejam which was scheduled. The place is available with all choice of booze along with local ones. Few options of snacks are also there but depends on availability. Open till 11AM. Located on the main area, on the street beside of clock tower.

So this place is for those who want to enjoy live music along with drinks. There are no food options. Its purely a bar with a love band performing excellent music. One of the coolest places to visit in Thimpu.

This Theravada Buddhism version of Walking Buddha was constructed by Thailand as a goodwill to Bhutan. We can see the curling dragon around its base and the lotus petals representing the architectural tint of Thailand. There is a small fountain and a few canopies within the park. It's next to Changlingmithang stadium and can be reached from the Centenary Farmer Market as well. Its riverside location brings a cool breeze during hot summer afternoons. And the weeping willows make it appear good in cameras. Sometimes, there will be advocacy or awareness programs with cultural and culinary programs. However, the entry is free for all.

It is a 45 ft. tall statue of a Walking Buddha built by Thai people in 2012. It is located within the centenary and coronation park in Thimphu city. Initially it was painted with yellow golden and dark red but currently the whole structure is painted with yellow golden color. As of today, it stands as the most attractive structure with the park. VAST Bhutan is located just in line with Kaja Throm in Thimphu inside Tarayana Building. It is surrounded with beautiful rock gardens with varieties of flowers and plants next to Wangchu River. Inside this Voluntary Artists Studio Thimphu (VAST) one can see the enriching and creative art work by the professional artist. The master piece of art we see here is His Majesty the 5th King's hand crafted art of Buddha. This is one of the most beautiful piece inside here. Therefore visit VAST Bhutan when you are exploring Kaja Throm in Thimphu.

One of the best places to get genuine art pieces don't be by budding artists of Bhutan. It has a lot of creativity involved and a spacious gallery displaying may unique art pieces. Visit and choose pieces which you like most or you can order your custom art pieces from well seasoned artists.

In the campus, there are three division: 1/ Faculty of traditional medicine which offers different course, Bachelor(5 yrs) , diploma(3yrs)in traditional medicine of Bhutan and short term course for international students. It also has traditional medicine muesum. 2/ National traditional medicine hospital where traditonal medicine physician provide health care services to the people for free. 3/ Menjong sorig pharmaceutical where the herbal medicines are produced.

Big campus. The institute is reviving the traditional medical science and promoting it on a big way.
