Vegetarian restaurant

Vegan restaurant
Nestled at the end of Dzenetica Cikma Street, Karuzo stands out as a haven for vegetarians in Sarajevo, a city often celebrated for its meat-centric dishes. This unique eatery is not only smoke-free but also champions a health-conscious dining experience. With Chef Dzemo at the helm, Karuzo offers an innovative menu that beautifully blends Mediterranean flavors with vegetarian and seafood options.
Honestly the best vegetarian/vegan meal we have ever had anywhere. Sasha the owner/chef is clearly a genius with flavour. And what we loved even more was that it looks like a bit of a dump from the outside but inside it's a bohemian delight. This place needs big time awards for the food. Excellent 👌👍
Skin D — Google review
The restaurant is very cozy and you can only eat here if you have a reservation. I think that makes this restaurant even more special because it’s a one man show here. Saša hosts you and you truly get the private chef experience. We ordered the Buddha bowl and baked seitan with Thai veggies. We both loved our dishes. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. We also ordered the raw cheesecake and chocolate apple cubes for dessert, which were incredible! This place truly deserves all the Michelin stars. You will love it! 💗
JOV — Google review
We went to Karuzo the night before to make our reservation and then returned the next night and had a delicious, fresh and flavorful meal. I highly recommend the spicy chickpea dish and the nacho salad. It’s a cozy space and it’s very unique to have your chef be so attentive. He clearly cares a lot about the meals he creates. He is strict about the reservations thing. As we ate several people came in and were turned away.
Narayan M — Google review
Before I say anything else, take the advice of every review, the signs on the door of the actual restaurant etc, and call ahead and make a reservation. I called, i was offered the 9:30 PM slot the night I called (it was about 6:30 PM at the time), instead I took 6:30 PM the next night. It’s that simple. You can’t just walk in and eat here. Why? Because it’s one guy. It’s one chef offering you a literal private dining experience, he takes your order, advises you, cooks from scratch, presents it to you, and provides enough time for each reservation to devote all of his attention to that party. This apparently bums a lot of people out. As we were eating, people walked in and got turned away - his night was full. This is not fast food. It’s not on demand cooking, this is a unique, intimate, personal dining experience being offered to you with one simple caveat - please make a reservation! Now let’s move on to the food. Karuzo serves fish, vegetarian, and vegan dishes. He will ask you when you sit down what your dietary restrictions are and advise you accordingly on the large and extremely eclectic menu. My fiancé and I are vegans, so right off the bat you could assume we’d be getting a very pared down version of all this restaurant has to offer. Nope. There were tons of options for us and everything we picked was absolutely delicious. And unique. And again, we were sitting there drinking and chatting, with nobody else in the restaurant while this gentleman cooked it all up from scratch just for us. We started with sushi, moved on to main courses (we were advised the portions are HUGE and it was no lie - come hungry! We are Americans so we destroyed it all, no problem) and then onto desert. My fiancé loved the wine selection and went for a second glass of the red wine. I don’t drink and enjoyed a glass of blueberry juice. We got all of this for something like $78 USD once you do the conversion. On a simple “cost to value” basis, this is unbeatable in my opinion. In terms of an elevated vegan dining experience, I will put it in the top 3 I’ve ever had and I’ve been privileged to enjoy delicious vegan food all over the world. Simply put, one of the best vegan dining experiences on earth just happens to be in Sarajevo. Pick up the phone, call ahead and make it happen for you. If the place was open Sundays we would have made a reservation for the very next night right there at the table, but sadly we will be gone from Sarajevo before they open again on Monday night. Do yourself a favor and experience this. I hope to return someday to experience it again myself.
Justin — Google review
Eating here was a very bizarre experience. While the food was decent, it absolutely did not live up to the reviews as the seafood dishes used frozen (not fresh) seafood for mussels, shrimp, etc. I did make a reservation so we had no issues there, but it was very strange to be sitting in an otherwise completely empty restaurant with one other person and watch the owner/cook/server/busboy berate about a half dozen groups of people who walked in without…honestly, he went out of his way to be overly aggressive in chasing them off. The worst part of the evening was the service. We spent the better part of three hours in the restaurant despite the fact that the number of diners never exceeded five (people, not tables) but the WORST part was that at the end, the owner informed us after the fact that there is a 10% up charge to use a credit card despite the fact that he had visa and Mastercard logos plastered on the door and at no point did he mention this fee until after the fact. I also overheard some really bizarre stuff with the owner and the other table that came in and sat behind me…the gentleman wanted to order bruschetta as an appetizer and the owner refused to serve to one person as the gentleman’s wife was vegan…just very strange and controlling behavior. If you want an interesting story to tell and have hours to kill then by all means check this place out but definitely do not go in expecting great food nor a good value for the money.
William C — Google review
The best vegan restaurant in Sarajevo, we are coming here on dinner every year and the quailty of taste, ingridients and polite owner is always on high level, definitely must try vegan restaurant. IMPORTANT information: definitely not come without table reservation via phone or facebook, because only owner is cooking and he likes to give all the best in meal preperation for few tables, it's really worth to wait for a meal to be prepared because tastes are awesome.
Bojan K — Google review
Cooking that makes your body happy, with great care and heartfelt work!!! This is absolutely a fantastic, one of a kind restaurant!! If you're vegetarian and/or gluten-free, you MUST try this place. Everything we tried was flavorful, delicious, and beautifully cooked. Even if you're not vegetarian, they offer seafood dishes, too! The owner's love and pride in what he does is evident through our chat with him and his dishes. He is the author of the first vegetarian book published in Bosnia, and he's very knowledgeable of his work as a chef. We stayed in Sarajevo for four days and there are so many restauranta to try, but we chose to eat here twice because it was such a fabulous experience dining in here!
C W — Google review
It is the best restaurant in sarajevo!! I'm vegetarian so I gave back trying to find food with good flavor here, but in Karuzo you will find the tastiest, more unique and best quality food that you could imagine!! You'll have to book the same day if you want to go, but you'll be served by the Chef Sasha himself. As all his food is delicious, don't try to get a recommendation from him as he cant give it, and I understand... we ordered polenta, the vegan chili seitan, oven pockets with tofu and basil and some fish, and for dessert we ordered the ice cream, the best chocolate cake for a non chocolate person as I am, an amazing tiramisu and a delicious non-cheese cheesecake... I recommend you trying whatever you like as even when this was my 1st time here, i have the feeling that every dish is as good as the next one... and definitely everything odd the charts!! Thank you Sasha for an amazing time!!! Im definitely coming back 👌🏽

Cafe
Vapiano is a laid-back restaurant known for its made-to-order fresh pasta dishes, pizza, and salads. Located in the Alta Shopping Center, it offers delicious Italian cuisine in a clean and bright open space with a bar serving beer and wine. The self-service concept allows customers to enjoy daily-made pasta cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients. The menu includes Italian and Spanish specialties as well as great sushi and Asian fusion cuisine from nearby establishments.
We absolutely loved and were impressed by this restaurant. It's well-organized, and the food is delicious! The wait time for our food was pretty quick, and the portions were huge. The pasta we ordered was generously topped, so big thanks to the male chef at the pasta counter. The staff at the entrance and cashier, Ms. Ajla (hope I got her name right), was quite friendly, even though she was a bit stern. The staff at the drink counter was very patient and friendly. They have a variety of drinks available, and I highly recommend their authentic homemade iced tea. However, the male staff at the pizza counter was quite arrogant, unfriendly, and rude. When we wanted to order pizza and garlic bread, he was very unwelcoming. The place is comfortable and offers a unique view of the city. It’s spacious enough and perfect for family meals. Overall, I’m satisfied and impressed. Highly recommend this place! 👍🏻

Amazing pasta, the staff is so hospitable and helpful and it's a great view of Marijn Dvor from their balcony. Its lovely to sit out here having a coffee and watching the literal traffic pass by. Highly recommended if you are near Marjin Dvor or SCC center to stop by Vapiano in Alta. You won't be disappointed. 10/10.

Centrally located inside Alta mall on the heart of the capital, They have a very good selection of deserts as well as the drinks in their menu and it all looks appetizing. You can easily detect the quality ingredients they used in making those desserts and drinks that we ordered. There is just a bit of waiting time because the place is full. The waitress that took our order and serve us is very pleasant.
Raed A — Google review
Woman which prepare food was very agresive and uncomfortable to cooparate. Plus for a meal for 25 KM i got only 2 shrimps inside and ordered it like a schrimps meal. No ice for a wine as well.
Mery X — Google review
First of all very clean place. It's self service and people are very nice. Food is absolutely amazing, everything is super delicious. I ate past and was blown away. Portion was good and again was VERY DELICIOUS. To be fair it's not cheap, it's a bit expensive but it's worth it in my opinion.
De F — Google review
I don’t usually post reviews, even if something is bad. But this is terrible - 18.5 for a pizza with terrible crust and just a bit of cheese. On top of that got charged the wrong pizza, which I realized only when I got out. Obviusly, I can only blame myself for going there - which I surely won’t do again.
Mirza O — Google review
Pizza was a good contester for Hell's Kitchen, and I mean it in a bad way. It's edible but far away from something that should be called pizza as it just an overpriced piece of dense bread with some toppings, and the cost should be at least half to match with the quality you are getting.
Dzenan S — Google review
Food is delicious. However the staff is extremely rude. I dont have high standards for customer service but I felt uncomfortable there today with staff refusing to take my order (leaving me standing there going from one register to another while they cooked and ignored me, giving me nasty looks then they took my order spitting options at me like I'm a disease. The only nice staff member today was the lady who cleared our table. If I was the owner I would not be happy, this is way below service expectations at other vapiano restaurants, its embarrassing to think how you treat foreigners. Please treat people with respect as a minimum. You wont be in business very long with this approach.

Noovi is a great restaurant with delicious food and impeccable service. The terrace is decked with plants and flowers, making it a lovely atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The pasta had too much butter in it, but the steak was amazing. It rivals some of the best restaurants in Sarajevo - definitely worth checking out!
Great pizza, salad and wine! Our server was friendly and attentive. Definitely plan to return.

At out bosna visit we found this place via reviews. The foods that i had here was over my expectation i just fall in love again with the italian food. Pizza was pretty thin and crusty. I can clearly say that the chef is really good and they use great ingredients. I advice this place to everyone.
Duygu K — Google review
The schnitzels we ordered were oiled and tasteless. The potatoes were burnt. The wine was good though. bathroom was dirty and Believe it or not, there was a hose on the floor behind my table (like laying in the floor as in a garage). The owner was rude and rushed us for the order and was mad if we ordered anything else, like another glass of wine. At a point during our order, I asked for her suggestions and she said she was busy and would come back after I decided... Not returning ever to this place.

Fantastic little spot where food is very tasty and the service is impeccable. Sushi restaurant
Sushi San is a sushi restaurant with a clever name that reflects the owner's passion for creating top-quality sushi. Located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it offers various traditional sushi combinations and is known as the first open sushi bar in the country. The chef takes pride in interacting with customers while preparing each dish, sharing insights about the ingredients and the establishment. Visitors can enjoy watching their sushi being made at the bar, adding to the overall experience.
The only sushi restaurant worth visiting in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The quality of the fish is always up to par, everything is freshly prepared right in front of you. The only real miso soup in Sarajevo. My favorites are Rainbow roll and unagi nigiri. The owner is great and will always try to make you feel at home!
Tomijeve T — Google review
Hands down the best sushi place in Sarajevo, Bosnia even! The freshness of the fish, the creativity of the rolls, and the balance of flavors are on another level. Every bite feels like it was crafted with real care and attention to detail. It’s rare to find sushi of this quality in the region, and this spot truly raises the bar. Whether you’re a sushi lover or trying it for the first time, you won’t be disappointed.
Amela R — Google review
The sushi was amazing—we absolutely devoured it. The Rainbow Roll was 18 KM, and the California Roll was 13 KM, so we paid 31 KM in total for 16 pieces. The owner was also super friendly. He asked me if I liked the sushi, and I told him it was the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. He laughed and said, “You’ve got plenty of life left to live.” I thought that was really funny.
Ada L — Google review
The one and only true sushi in Sarajevo! The best one you will try in this part of the world. If you really love sushi, just ignore all the other places you find in Sarajevo. This is the one. 👌
Andrea A — Google review
Everybody already rightfully praised the sushi, it reminded me of the ones I had back in Vancouver, made from some of the freshly caught salmon. All that praise is justified. I want to also do some justice to the miso soup. Despite it being summer I ordered one on a whim, and boy was I right to do so… The fine gentleman that runs the show served me by far the best miso soup I had. Him serving cold green tea was a very nice gesture as well, one that I forgot for a while as not many establishments do this unfortunately. In short, if you want to take a break from eating some of the best bureks in the world, you can enjoy world class sushi in Sarajevo as well. Much respect to the chef who made this possible!

The first and only authentic small sushi restaurant in Sarajevo. The food is with authentic quality ingredients, well prepared. Especially authentic Miso soup as well as several good options for vegetarians

Very small, but a cute place. We’ve ordered Sake Maki and Philadelphia rolls. Both were delicious and fresh. Creamy cheese in Philadelphia roll matches perfectly!

Best sushi I've ever had. We've been coming here for about 6 years now. Been to countless sushi restaurants in Europe, none come close to the sushi served here. Sushi master Darko is incredibly knowledgeable and truly knows his craft. Daily fresh ingredients, expertly made, for a great price.

If you're exploring Sarajevo and craving a delightful dining experience, Galija is a must-visit spot that comes highly recommended by locals. Known for its inviting atmosphere and exceptional service, this restaurant offers a menu filled with delicious options like Sea Bass and Chicken Kabobs, complemented by homemade desserts such as their unique apple pie. While the ambiance could benefit from a bit more lighting, the friendly staff—especially Mirsad—are eager to engage with guests in both English and Bosnian.
I love this place. This is such a nice special location for relaxing. I love the aesthetic, it looks very fancy and cute. I highly recommend.
Sofía R — Google review
A little bit more lighting would help because this place was kind of dark, and I wasn't even in one of their little nooks. Mirsad, the server, was super friendly and happy to practice speaking English and Bosnian with me and my group. Prices for Sarajevo I would say are a little high, but if you want a place that's outside of Bascarsija and a little secluded, you will find peace of mind with really good food. I saw some pizzas that looked nice. I did their house special, the snicl (schnitzel) and it was more than enough food at good value. The whole meal including a drink and a glass of wine was 30KM.
Mackers — Google review
This place is by no means one of the best in Sarajevo. First-class food, a great atmosphere and top-class service can be found here. The extremely friendly and funny boss even offered us the option of paying our bill by washing our plates. Fantastic humor - you'll be happy to come back here!
Hans M — Google review
Not the best pizza I've had in the Balkans, but everything else was amazing. Waitress was very nice and helpful. The prices are cheap and the interior is cool. I'd go again!
Jill P — Google review
Fantastic dining experience. Galija came recommended by a local service driver. The service was too notch. The food was perfect. Two of us ordered the Sea Bass with a salad the other ordered Chicken Kabobs. I also ordered the homemade apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was like Baklava with apples in the middle.... Really good. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend Galija.

ZDRAVO is a vegan bistro and concept store in Sarajevo that offers delicious, fresh food and a comfortable atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is of high quality.
Exceptional vegan restaurant, sort of out of the way of the rest of Sarajevo but close to the bus station which made it a perfect stop before we caught the bus out of Bosnia. Speaking of which, this place is comfy and emphasizes slow food, so it’s a perfect place to kill time if you’ve checked out of your hotel and you’re waiting on a bus, plane etc. amazing variety of fresh and creative HEALTHY vegan food - the emphasis on raw foods need not dissuade anyone, everything here is so tasty and the effort that went into it is obvious. Great drinks, food and very friendly service. I love this place and I’m so glad it exists here.

Fabulous food and prices. Service is quite slow so go when u have a lot of time. Beautiful atmosphere. Chocolate Banana latte would bw nicer if made hot and cooled down with ice. It was quite powdery and didn't taste like banana. Our falfal burritos were amazing.

Lilit A — Google review
I honestly don't know where to start with the compliments :) Over the past few years, I've tried at least eight of the dishes they offer and have been very pleased with each of them. Cakes and coffee are of the same quality as the meals themselves. And I love both very much. The food is so good, the ingredients carefully selected and prepared, that if you have a sensitive stomach, you will certainly not have a problem with it, even the opposite. The friendliness of the staff and the present atmosphere are also at a high level but, due to working hours, I am not able to visit this bistro more often, and that is the only drawback I can single out. I gladly recommend everyone to visit Bistro Zdravo and see for yourself everything I mentioned.

Amazing food, drinks and athmosphere! Love the vibes, love that it's DOG FRIENDLY! 😍😍 A big plus in this city! They also organise nice events. What more could you ask? 😺
Lada B — Google review
My first and last impression of this vegan spot: underwhelming and disappointing. Some of the worst-tasting items I’ve had. I can’t believe a hot chocolate could go so wrong. I had one every day during my holiday, and this was by far the biggest letdown. It’s such a shame, because the place looked amazing, but the taste completely failed to deliver.
Muhammed ( — Google review
In general, it's great that such a small town has a vegan cafe, but for me, as a tourist, it was very far from the center, so the following days we did not go there, we went somewhere closer. It was not clear whether they would accept the order, whether to pay at the checkout. They asked everything many times. They seemed friendly, but my coffee to go and dessert, they asked and I said after the meal and to go, but they brought it before the meal( coffee was brought in a cup😅) Well, no big deal. And a huge minus that it closes so early

All in all, it’s a great business I asked in english and exaggerated with my hands if “a pizza half and half is ok?” The girl said yes in English. I ordered 1 med pizza (held up one finger and said one pizza). Then showed with separating motions the two types I wanted on one pizza. In the end I got two med pizzas. In the end it’s my fault. I don’t speak the local language. The girl did her best. But she didn’t care or understand why I was surprised I had to pay for two pizzas. Again, i get it. Pro tip: pay immediately so you know what’s going on. I paid after. Mistake All in all, I’d still recommend this place. Just be more blatant than me 😂 Original review: Really good priced pizza. They are pretty thin, but the toppings are great.

I’ve tried both the Maxicano pizza and the U2 pizza, and the U2 was by far the best. It comes with a special sauce that’s both spicy and flavorful—absolutely delicious. The combination of taste, quality, and price makes it a great deal. Super recommended!
Ammar A — Google review
It was a delicious pizza for 9 km and the drinks were 3 km. Unfortunately you cant sit but they have two little tables inside that you can enjoy your pizza. I am really amazed by the quality and the taste, also you must try their amazing garlic mix with your pizza. I assure you, its one of the best you will eat also with that affordable price. If we return back to Sarajevo we will definetly come back again. Hvala🫶🏻

U2 Pizza Shop in Sarajevo is a delightful find for pizza lovers in this vibrant city. Located in the heart of Sarajevo, the pizzeria boasts a cozy and welcoming ambiance that makes it an ideal spot for a casual meal or a quick bite with friends and family. The staff at U2 Pizza Shop is friendly and helpful, always ready to guide you through the menu or recommend a pizza based on your taste. Their prompt and attentive service adds to the overall dining experience. The prices at U2 Pizza Shop are reasonable and represent good value for money, especially considering the quality of their pizzas. The portions are generous, making it an excellent option for sharing with friends or taking leftovers home. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor exploring Sarajevo, U2 Pizza Shop offers a delectable slice of pizza heaven that you won't want to miss.

A classic in Sarajevo...Would recommend for a quick and cheap lunch or after party snack without hassle! Note that there is no table serving, you stand and eat quickly on the go. Don't expect a Neapolitan style pizza. However, do expect fresh ingredients, quick and friendly service with hot slices on the go. Make sure to top you hot slice with the garlic and/or chili sauce. A big slice is 2 km (1 EUR), a whole pizza is 6-13 km (3-6,5 EUR) depending on size and type. While at it, order a pancake with EuroCrem (Balkan Nutella) and crushed biscuits as dessert for about 2 KM. Enjoy!
Haris F — Google review
The pizza’s are excellent quality - the best in Sarajevo. The taste is truely authentic and I love how they’ve designed pizza’s unique to Bosnia’s cuisine (the Bosnian pizza with smoked beef), among others. Well done to the chef. The service could definitely improve. A greeting upon entering the pizza shop is generally expected, as well as “how can I help” or “what would you like to order?” Focusing only on the quality of the food though - it was amazing!

We got the jumbo U2 pizza to share and barely got through it. Decent pizza, friendly staff great value for money

Caribou Coffee is a beloved coffeehouse chain that has carved out a special place in the hearts of caffeine enthusiasts everywhere. Known for its signature drinks, including delightful mochas and lattes, Caribou Coffee offers an inviting ambiance perfect for unwinding or catching up with friends. The café features a spacious interior equipped with excellent WiFi and cozy seating options, making it an ideal spot for both work and relaxation.
I love how they have salted caramel, my favorite drink. They have cute collections of mug and tumbler, too. The hot chocolate also very recommended. Try the pastry, cheese croissant and it is cheesy and delicious. You can find them on Korpa, too if you are too lazy to go out. The dine-in place is not so big but they have this cozy corner if you got lucky and want to have a little privacy with your love one. 😊

Not the best coffee shop. I ordered a small cup hot coffee. The lady there was preparing the order then she said order is ready. When I went to pick up the order, she said she didn't have the small cups, they were finished. So she put the coffee in the big cup. Why i wasn’t informed from the beginning small cups aren’t available? I was surprised by the small amount of coffee in the large cup.
Lulwa B — Google review
My new favourite coffee place in Sarajevo! Last night I visited and Caribou and was served by such an amazing and helpful girl, I think her name was Nina. The espresso shaker with vanilla she recommended was superb and the leather chairs made me want to write a book!
Liam J — Google review
All staff speak fluent English and there is a vast range or tradition plus fun coffees (caramel latte for example). They also had decaf which can be hard to find and the women serving were funny, charming and helpful
Lima C — Google review
The prices are reasonable for the amount of coffee you would get and if u are a coffee lover and looking for big portions then this is the place to go to. I took coffee latte medium for 5 KM and cokoladna monoporcija dessert for another 5 km and the taste was really good. The staff is also very nice and friendly.
Bassam A — Google review
Best Caribou branch in the city. The only shop one where the Latte/Cappuccino doesn't taste disgusting.
Myles M — Google review
I like Caribou coffee. It’s not the best coffee you’ll ever have (they use automated machines as opposed to a proper espresso base) but it’s good enough and the selection of drinks is large. Very importantly, the staff are super friendly. I like getting a take away latte for my stroll down Vilsonovo šetalište , which is near by. Recommended.

Mrkva is a popular spot in Sarajevo, Bosnia, offering a variety of traditional Bosnian dishes like cevapcici and stuffed pljeskavica. In addition to the national dish, they also serve different types of burgers and fries. The bakery is well-known for quality takeout treats, while the restaurant provides professional and friendly service with fast delivery. For those seeking healthier options, there are eateries in Sarajevo that cater to vegetarian and vegan needs.
This is one of the best places to chose if you wish to try traditional Bosnian dish Chevapi or just want to enjoy quality and delicious fast food. The staff is very professional and friendly, the delivery service is fast and food is packaged in very cute and pretty boxes. All in all, I'd chose Mrkva over McDonalds any time.

I expect more from cevapi. Place was crowded but in my opinion meat was to plastic. Its was good but i expected more. Btw prices are great and they accept credit card.

Mrkva opened many branches all over town, they sort of killed a tradition of preparing bbq. When you order feom home often serve older bread and oversone bbq.

The food is very good but the resourant is small so you migth not find a place. The prices are ok. The service is fast. They have wifi. Just a cosy place.

SOSSE Pizza - Kosevo is a popular pizza takeaway spot located at Envera Sehovica 42 in Sarajevo. Customers have raved about the delicious vegetarian and pepperoni pizzas, with special mentions of the spicy Sriracha topping. The friendly and English-speaking staff, particularly Jasmina, have left a positive impression on visitors. Despite its small size and lack of indoor seating, this pizzeria offers great value for money with its tasty and affordable pizzas.
I found this pizzeria based on reviews on Google Maps, the pizza was delicious, we bought a small pepperoni, the price was 8 km. There are no tables inside.

Best late-night pizza spot ever! The crust was perfection, the toppings were fresh, and the cheese—oh, the cheese! Plus, the amazing women running the place? Total legends. They’re slinging pizzas like superheroes. Delicious and badass—10/10!
