Ok, so this was the weirdest food experience in Napoli. read a lot of good things about the place, a "must see". Hahaha there were 2 guys who looked so depressed you thought you'd brighten their day by walking in and buying something. There were about 5 sfogliatelle inside. We asked what fillings they had, they said one (OK, no problem, I like it simple!). One of the guys said the price and took our money. The other one reheated our 3 sfogliatelle and handed them to us. Nor one word, not one smile, no other soul in the place, and their looks almost made me want to apologise for buying the pastries. Eerie. Pastries were nice though.

In a previous post, I mentioned that I let my son have gelato 🍨 without me in Napoli 🇮🇹. Of course there was a good reason for that. I was planning on having baba at Scaturchio! As you probably know, there is alcohol in baba, so my son couldn't have any. Baba is a Napoletan specialty. Well, it's also a French 🇫🇷 specialty and a Polish 🇵🇱 specialty. 😅 I read a lot about baba and its origin, and the most common theory is that it's a babka to which Stohrer (a pastry chef in Paris) added rhum to make it less dry for the French king. This was then brought to Napoli by the French and this is where it became popular. Of course I was not there at the time and everybody has a different version of this story. So don't get mad at me if yours differs, that's just the one that makes the most sense in MY opinion. 😇 I like baba a lot for 2 reasons: 1) I don't eat it often 2) it was one of my grand-mother's 🥰 favorites. That said, I think it's very hard to achieve a good baba. You need to find a good balance between sweet and alcohol in the syrup and you need to make sure the dough is moist enough so the syrup travels properly through it, but not too much so it doesn't fall apart. I think this one was close to perfect, if not perfect. 👍 The tart my wife had was not good, though, unfortunately. 👎 Plus it came broken and it was crazy expensive (€6 as opposed to €3.5 for the baba 😳). The total price was quite high, €15 for 2 coffees and 2 pastries, but we sat at a terrace in the middle of the tourist area so that was to be expected. 🤷 The service was kind of slow but correct. Now I need to go back there to try all the other types of baba cause that was just the classic one and they have lots of fancy ones! 😋 Quality & taste: 7/10 Quantities: 9/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Originality: 7/10 Ratio price / quality: 7/10 Service: 7/10 How I felt afterwards: 7/10

We took few different cakes and all tasted very nicely, they were not too sweet, coffee was very good as well. Definitely nice place with climate. Re different cakes it was all explained on the piece of paper with pictures so there was no confusion when ordering them.

Went twice, got the sfogialata frolla and cannoli the first time and the sfogialata riccia the second time. I recomment the sfogialata riccia, very crunchy on the outside, warm, soft and creamy on the inside. The cannoli shell was too thick, not recommended. I really wanted to try their neapolitan pasteria but they dont sell it by slice and since i was alone, it didnt make sense to buy an entire pie. Price to quality is amazing, must have it for breakfast when in naples, like a true Italian

It's good, but the prices are too high, let alone for Southern Italy. It felt like a tourist trap to be honest, since there are much better places where you can spend literally less than half. The pastiera was good (but 6 EUR for a slice seems WAY too much), and the frittatina di pasta too (4 EUR). The thing is that none of them blew my mind, they were good but quite standard. There are much better places in more hidden streets such as Pasticceria Pascal. I would recommend it if you're visiting Napoli for the first time, since you must have a breakfast at Scartuchio... But probably wouldn't come here if you're looking for an authentic place where local people go.

Tried to find a place to grab some sweets for us to save for breakfast the next day for an early flight. This was one of the only ones open with options left in the case. We grabbed the caprese cake and the lemon option as well, Sfogliatella, and frolla…. The cakes were to die for!!! So moist even the next day. Definitely recommend stopping in here for your sweet tooth! They even wrapped everything up to-go very nicely

Napoli one of the oldest and best reputed pastry shop since 1905. We have two sfogliatela and two napolitana. They are massive big so one and one to share are enough. Delicate pasta outside and inside is fill with a creamy texture similar to crema pastelera. Really nice both. If you need a punch of energy it’s a great options. The accept credit card as some of the smaller shop don’t. The picture is not completely accurate as i remember token when we eat most of the pastries.

This bakery is close to our Airbnb, we came here grab our morning coffee and breakfast. There are many different types of pastries, some traditional Naples style, some regular ones. The staff is here nice and helpful, though they don’t speak much English, they were being very patient and helpful. There some little high tables if you decide to eat in.

I can't recommend this bakery enough. It was close to our accommodation and we decided to give it a go. I can confirm the best cornetto I've ever tried in my life (and I've travelled across Italy a lot). It was full of chocolate (real chocolate praline) and they offer savoury options too. It's a must if you are in the area!

I came across this in a special guidebook about Naples, and on our last day, we went for a little pastry, and I'm glad we did. Tiny little place, the guy sat behind the counter, smoking, asked us if we wanted to try something delicious, and then he just handed us a fresh little bun filled with pork and egg. It was piping hot and so delicious. We had two little pastries as well. We sat in this very simple family run place and had a little piece feel of what naples is about. Wouldn't travel across town, but it was an 800m walk from our place and well worth it.

Strange place.. as soon as we entered - very old guy just put some bread in our hands, then we tried to ask for some pastry and instead of 2 pieces - he put double-triple amount of everything. In the end he charged us with 10 euros. We threw all this bakery in the bin, because it was not good and some of it were not fresh(

The Sfogliatella riccia was lovely, and it stayed warm for ages. Crispy outside, soft on the inside! The service was a little stressful, I ordered 2 pastries (a pistacchio cannoli which wasn’t for me so can’t comment on), each came on a separate piece of paper, one of my hands was already full with the change from paying for them, and a water bottle, so it would’ve been nice to be offered a plate or at least be handed the second dessert. Instead it was left on the counter and the next customer was then in between me and my food. It wasn’t very nice, having to rush off with one pastry awkwardly squashed on top of the other so that they could hurriedly serve the next customer.

AVOID! The guy behind the counter was extremely rude, ignored us completely when we asked him a question, and acted like we were invisible. The pastries were stale and tasteless, I don’t get the hype at all! Won’t be coming back plenty of better bakeries/sfogliatella out there.

Spectacular desserts here. We thoroughly enjoyed 4 different kinds...Baba, cannolo, sfogliatella and a type of chocolate eclair. Delicious! We did the walk up to order and the girls working were polite and helpful.

It’s super located for a after opera drink ( needed to flex that I been cultural sorry). They had a really interesting looking cocktail on the menu. It’s called their ‘special’ or something. I can tell you: it’s strong! Definitely have one of you like to go and enjoy the night after. Great drink but pushy waiter that gave the bill with the drinks and adding “AND my tip”. Totally rude and really doesn’t do your business any good. Would have come back every evening if we didn’t have to get to hear when getting our drink. The strength of the drink made me forget about it though.

Attention! Tourist trap! I don't understand why they charge different prices for takeaway and on-site food. We were seated, all items were at least one euro more expensive. Definitely NOT recommended! Very unfriendly service and comparatively expensive. We had two coffees. Suddenly, we were prompted to pay by the bill being placed on the table. The waiter then wouldn't leave and stood closely behind me. We had the exact change, but they refused to accept our bill (a 5 Euro note from an older series (obviously still valid)). Following this, the waiter raised his voice and initially didn't want to let us leave. Not a nice experience.

Great place that sells Sfogliatelle, a typical sweet from Naples. I am from Sicily so I am well acquainted with ricotta in sweets: in this case the ricotta is quite different! They make their sweets with old recipes that were studied in archives and literature. This is an "unexpected" great place and surely will not give you the typical sfogliatella but a VERY GOOD one. I also suggest heavily the San Patrizia one without ricotta. You'll be blown away by the spices, the cinnamon, the texture, the moist. You would expect a normal frolla to be "dry" without ricotta. Infact, it's remarkable. Great job guys, keep it up :)

We come here by accident. Means I don’t see my list and suddenly we see this shop (it’s already in my list, actually) At that time, no customer. The seller is quite friendly. We order 2 different kinds of their products with cappuccino and coffee of course. Crispy and soft. I prefer the crispy one. Classic sfogliatelle I think. I like the dough but I don’t really like inside cream/ricotta etc. too much for me :) Try it when you visit Naples.

If you're craving some Sfogliatella, Naples signature pastry then there's no better place to try it than a bakery named after it. That's basically all they have and they they make them very well. You can try the flaky riccia version or frolla which has a shortbread style crust. Both are very delicious. There's a few tables inside to eat and the cashier was very nice. One thing to note is this cafe is tucked away in little alley off the main street so it's easy to miss.

Easily the best sfogliatelle of my life; coming from my home, the heart of NYC’s little Italy, I arrived to Napoli with a passion for this pastry and was prepared to have my mind blown. And I sure did! They have the kindest & most accommodating staff ever, he sat us on the “balcony” seating for photos :) do it right and get an espresso!

A dream coming true! Because I’m allergic to dairy, I felt blessed to have a chance to taste the Santa Patrizia Riccia & Frolla, which are completely dairy-free and consist of two types of sweets from Napoli bakery! The Santa Patrizia Riccia is made with puffy pastry, and the Frolla is made with shortcrust. Both are stuffed with a lovely dairy-ree mix of almond, hazelnut and orange zest! I couldn't believe how tasty they were! Best eating them as soon as they are baked with a lovely espresso made with the moka machine! Supper suggested it is a must-try in Napoli!

This will be dangerous, we live around the corner and stopped here on our first night. We bought 6 beautiful little pieces and they not disappoint. Flavours, texture and the patient service we received all matched by beautiful packaging. This is shop is a little work of arts.

As a chef, this is the best of all kind Napoli dessert is "delizia al limone" must come here, fresh and perfect sweet, not too sweet! Includimg other dolci are amazing (Pastiera and Torta caprese). People in town have known well, I got suggestion from a nonno. The owner in black appron is so kind.

We were just getting the tram back to our accommodation when we heard music coming from this bakery and a big crowd of people gathered outside. There was a DJ and a live sax player. It turns out that they were celebrating their 25th birthday, with free nibbles and a party. It was great to try their delicious skewers, mini pizzas and fruit, but the highlight was the individual profiteroles, which they serve in different flavours, for example with a rich chocolate sauce or lemon sauce. These were beautifully presented and extremely tasty. The lemon one was particularly tasty. Inside the shop there are some beautiful cakes, such as the chocolate blood orange log. Our visit to the Mignone bakery was an unexpected highlight of our trip, and I'd definitely recommend popping in there for a profiterole or two.

Delicious, soft, creamy sweet and balanced Profiteroles. Go here. Best experience in the entire city of Napoli. Not even joking. Pompeii? Nup. Archeological Museum? Nup. Walking the city? Hell no. Go to this bakery, buy yourself 100 profiteroles for .50c each, and stuff yourself silly for a good weekend. Just watch out crossing the roads to get there. You might die, but the risk is worth it. We first went here to try the fried pizza, and we were happy with the taste. And during our vacation, we came here for breakfast more than 3x. The pastries looked good and warm when we ordered in the morning. The baristas were very friendly guys, and yes, I must admit the ladies who served the pastries and the cashier weren't as friendly, despite you being nice and warm with them. Overall, my husband and I were pleased having breakfast here at the bar, knowing that it's typical in Napoli to have table charge - so we usually stand in the bar and eat and go.

Very rude service, she insulted me in front of everyone. I wanted to pay by card, but they preferred cash. That's not a problem, but since contactless payment was also an option, I wanted to use that. The woman at the checkout looked in my wallet, saw a banknote, and called me a liar. When I politely explained that I did have cash but would prefer to pay by card, she called me a liar again, called me Pinocchio, made inappropriate gestures, laughed loudly about me with her colleagues, and didn't even respond when I said goodbye.

Very fresh and delicious delizia al limone which is a cake soaked in lemon freshness. You cannot miss it! The staff was kinda tired and unhappy, but we are tourists after all.

The food was generous, rich in flavor and the patisserie crunchy and sweet, the waiters don’t really seem to enjoy their gig, but that’s pretty avg in Napoli (or Italy). In spite of that, the service is fast as almost everything just needs to be warmed up. Coffee is great and fresh OJ is a little ray of sunshine trough the overall experience.

Centrally located, prime spot for people watching and beautiful building. This is by far one of the best espresso we had during our trip in Italy. So good that we went back 3 times in total during our visit in Naples. The pastries were great too.. as for the service as expected during high season. Fatigue, not very friendly.. probably sick of tourists like us and under staff given they didn't open a section of the restaurant and would rather have customers wait in the queue. Great spot for breakfast, we came here a couple of times. Fantastic people watching and great location to sit and enjoy your morning food. Coffee is good, pastries are fresh and delicious and the staff are brilliant. It is a touch on the pricey side for Naples but it is worth it. The selection of drinks is probably the most substantial of all the spots we went to in Naples. One thing I will say is I stopped off for a late afternoon Sfogliatella and unlike in the morning which was brilliant this time it had very obviously been sat for many hours and the filling had gone a bit past its best so I would recommend if you want the pastries go at breakfast when they have just been made as they are brilliant. Gran Caffè Gambrinus is a place that leaves a lasting impression with just a single cup of coffee. I stopped by briefly for one espresso — the “strapazzato” — and that short moment completely redefined what coffee means to me. Though I spent no more than five minutes there, the depth, aroma, and intensity of that cup made time feel suspended. It wasn’t just about caffeine; it was about heritage, craftsmanship, and emotion in a cup. It’s rare to find a place where such a simple experience feels so profound. I know that even if I return years later, that brief memory — and the anticipation of tasting it again — will stay with me for a very long time.

An interesting place and very unusual because of the way you place your order. First, you go to the counter, order from the cashier and then you go to the bar or the pastry section. It can be very confusing for tourists because there are no signs explaining what to do or how it works. My recommendation is to first take a look at all the cake names and then go to the counter. All in all, the coffee is excellent and the cakes are unbelievably beautiful and delicious. Definitely a place you must visit!

I can see how it’s become a popular place but you don’t simply yell at the people what they want to order will stress them so much just to hurry them up, especially when you haven’t ordered that in the past and you don’t know the language also, you don’t throw the chain at someone in their face when they paid, it’s so incredibly rude so I do not recommend this at all. There are plenty of other places serving Sfogliatelle in Naples. Don’t fall for the hype.

Their sfogliatelle is a must-try. Freshly baked straight out of the oven. The phyllo dough is crispy and flaky, the ricotta filling is like heaven, just the perfect amount of sweetness that we love, with a delicate aromatic touch from the orange zest. Altogether a harmonious combination of flavors. We also tried their canolo a la pistaccio and another pastry filled with nutella. The taste was ok, but incomparable to their famous sfogliatelle.

Really delicious, the Sfoglia was awesome! And the price is not outrageous either despite being central. Around 3€ per pastry. Recommended. Would bring my fiancé there for a take away. Only downside is that they don't have places outside to sit and eat.

Absolutely incredible sfogliatella! We stopped by Cori di Sfogliatelle near Piazza Garibaldi by the train station and were blown away. We tried the pistachio, baci, and chocolate — all were fresh, rich, and bursting with flavor. The texture was perfect, crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. I got 10 fiocchi di neve with me, for my friends to try and I brought 5 of them home. I got them at 14:00 and I was home after my flight to Albania at 22:00. They can last for 10 hours without being refrigerated and three days refrigerated. I should have gotten more. After being refrigerated they tasted even better. I got just one with pistacchio but it was so good. It is worth the wait. I was in a one-star mood and the restaurant was close to my hotel, so I decided to test it out. Making reservations required guaranteeing with a credit card so instead I emailed them and they accepted my reservation. It is a great view of the bay of Naples for sure. My table was on the outdoor terrace and it was too windy so I asked to move inside. It looks like you have to walk thru the restaurant to get to the small rooftop pool but I could be mistaken. Everyone has been very friendly and professional befitting a high-end restaurant. They offered Champagne as an aperitif but I asked for an Americano. Not because I’m American :) but because I like Negronis very much and I didn’t want to jump straight to that strong of a cocktail. It wasn’t the best one I’ve had - too watery and too much ice. I like the background music. The Amuse Bouche was very well presented but not that tasty. Since I ate one Amuse Bouche out of the suggested order (my bad), they tried to clear them before I was done. They offered 3, 6, or 8 courses. Based on my experience so far, I decided to cut my losses and go for 3. I asked for wine pairings and they gladly supported. They were very accommodating with one food allergy I have. The fresh/warm bread with local butter & olive oil was well presented and delicious. The Americano got better towards the end :) The 5-Spice 65-degree egg with mozzarella first course wasn’t bad. The sommelier described and poured a local white to go with the egg course. Everyone spoke perfect English. The white wine was ok but not worth writing about. The waiter very professionally cleared the the crumbs after the first course. I unfortunately have a shellfish allergy. The second course was a rock fish and cuttlefish pasta. They assured me no shellfish was in it but as I started to eat it, my throat started to tingle and itch and I was clearly starting to have a reaction. I stopped, they apologized and went to prepare something else. Very gratuitous about it. I would recommend ordering a table at the window overlooking the bay! The replacement second course was delicious. It was a Ragu without meat but replicating the flavor with Japanese ingredients like miso, etc. The paired red wine was also excellent. I’m not a vegetarian but the second course also came with a meatless meatball. It was good but no one would mistake it for a meatball. This might be a good place for a business dinner (with a table at the window overlooking the bay). The WiFi appears to be only for hotel guests. But my 5G was wicked fast. The dessert which had kefir in it, which I like, was tasty but not super special. The dessert wine was hyper-sweet but I would try again with a dessert course. Thinking back, they were (probably unintentionally) stingy with the water. The surprise dessert was again beautifully presented but 2 of the 4 marinated fruit tasted off. I hope I’m ok tomorrow. :) The watermelon juice was very good. I am certainly stuffed. The restroom is on the first floor of the hotel, BTW. Pros: Wonderful staff. Very attentive. The focaccia was really really good. We were impressed by the spread they laid out for appetizer and dessert. Cons: I’m sure this place is someone’s cup of tea (I’ve seen the glowing reviews), but we are not those people. The food seemed inventive and honestly, a bit strange, just for the sake of it, or to see how “out of the box” they could go. We’ve had Michelin-starred food for much less $ and much better taste. My husband and I were given 2 different menus - while mine was personalized to remove my allergies (thoughtful touch!), mine also did not have prices included, only his did, which we didn’t appreciate. Perhaps this isn’t rare, but we’ve never seen it done, even at high-end restaurants. I also must mention - this place was truly ridiculously expensive. The wine was in the ballpark of 40 euros per glass at minimum. All in all, we would not return even for a free meal. Maybe we just have some simple tastes, but if you’re like us, you’ve been warned.

Overall it was quite disappointing experience, medium value at very very high cost. We enjoyed the fanciness and the beautifully served dishes, but to be honest many of the dishes just weren't tasty. We even returned one dish (both of us) because we found it to be super salty. We ate in many restaurants far more tasty at fifth of the cost. We took the 6 course menu. Don't get mistaken the dishes are maybe not that big but you end up with a very full stomach. The starters were amazing, alas the really good things are always too small. The deserts were also very good. The other dishes were mediocre. The wine selection is interesting and exotic and the sommelier picked amazing wines for us. Bottom line not worth the price.

The egg was good of course, but not memorable. No standard wine pairing was made available, so I asked for a recommendation. My mistake; the bottle they supplied was thoughtlessly chosen. I only had the three course menu, but I doubt more of their food would have helped their batting average. Good visuals though, a nice view of the sea and the food probably photographs well. Something for the Instagrammers maybe, but not for anyone who bothers to taste what they eat.

I had the best experience here! I came for a coffee and was offered a lemon granita with tea by the boss, it’s apparently a Napoli specialty. I don’t understand why everyone here complains about bad service, everyone was so nice to us at the bar! Also, you need to understand that paying for a coffee at the bar vs sitting on the table are different prices in europe! If you can’t understand this then you’re going to think they have bad service but this is the norm. Augustus has really good cakes too, after all they’ve been around a long time! I was in Naples to create a report and material for my guided tours. At lunch I was looking for a local solution with which to have lunch as at home, order quickly and go back to the B&B to enjoy the lunch. I was eating my pastry, and, towards the end, I noticed about 2cm of tinfoil at the bottom, right in the middle of the filling. When I finally relented, I ended up ordering the zeppole and delizia al limone since I read that those are some of the must-try desserts in Naples (aside from sfogliatelle, which I had eaten plenty of by this time). Together, they cost less than 7 euros (which I was so surprised about, given how large they were!) and packaged beautifully. They were almost too pretty to eat! The baba was the best I had in Napoli, and all the small pastries tried were delicious. My only regret is to not have tried more of them. I particularly enjoyed the mini format. Pizzas were great and service was fast. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is that the sides we ordered were terrible. The zucchini flowers lacked flavour (besides the taste of old fryer oil), and the mozzarella and tomato salad was not good (mainly due to the baffling inclusion of iceberg lettuce and corn).

A high quality pastry & ice cream shop with lots of different branches around the city of Naples, from the house of Leopoldo Cafe. In this branch we had our quick breakfast on the bar including an espresso. For pastries we order one donut filled with vanilla cream inside (which had just the right amount of cream that was exploded out of the dough as soon as we took a bite, and it wasn't too sweet which is not obvious for vanilla cream in my opinion), a classic sfogliatella (super crunchy and delicious) and a mini tartelette filled with vanilla custard and topped with some mini strawberries. All of the pastries were super fresh and delicious, so I consider this place a great option if you love your sweet pastries and looking for a decent cafe in Naples!

I stopped by Casa Infante late one evening and was pleasantly surprised to find them open. I originally went in for gelato, which turned out to be absolutely delicious, but I noticed they also offer a nice selection of pastries, sandwiches, coffee, and other snacks and drinks. It’s a cute little spot with a warm, inviting vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and quick to help, and the prices were very reasonable. A great find—I’ll definitely be back!

We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and were there for 2 nights last week. The hotel is sleek and modern with a very classy design. The room had a very cool design with a glass enclosed shower and bathroom. We had a huge window overlooking the port and Bay of Naples. The pool area on the 10th floor is amazing with an infinity edge overlooking the bay plus loungers, sun umbrellas and a bar with light snacks. The breakfast in the fine dining restaurant was perfect with more large windows, stunning views, excellent food and a very professional staff. On our anniversary day we relaxed by the pool for awhile in the afternoon. When we got to our room the staff had sent us a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice with a handwritten note of congratulations! It was a nice surprise and really made us feel special. All in all, it was a great experience. Thank you!

This is a beautiful hotel right across from the cruise terminal and ferry terminal in Naples. 5 star hotel with outstanding spa, rooms, comfort and infinity pool. The room was modern and so comfortable! Also, the mini bar and all of its content were complimentary, including the beer, liquor and snacks. We were also greeted with a bottle of sparkling wine and luxury desserts that were a cherry on top. The only downside to our stay here was that we only had one night. Great spot!!

Our stay at Hotel Romeo in Naples was absolutely disappointing. The photos on the website are misleading — the room we received looked completely different in reality. A wonderful and stunning hotel. Very tastefully designed, beautiful facilities and overall great service. A big surprise was the insanely good gym (very impressive equipment - best hotel gym I have ever seen by far) and the spa which was a mindblowing experience. Super impressed!

We had a fantastic stay at the Romeo, for one night, on our way from Napoli to Praiano (via Positano). It was booked on Hilton HHonors points, and I'm more than happy with the value for bed-and-breakfast. It's a great location if getting a ferry - only about a 5 minute walk. It's also a good location for exploring Napoli. The rooms are very modern - some reviews make that a negative, but we thought the tech and the design were outstanding, including the room layout. The top-floor pool was also great, and the bar-service while we had a few hours there was excellent. Breakfast was outstanding, one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had in a while.
