Rare book store
Used book store
Powell's City of Books is a renowned bookstore located in downtown Portland's Pearl District. It spans an entire city block and boasts a staggering collection of approximately one million books, making it the largest used and new bookstore globally. The store features nine color-coded rooms with over 3,500 different sections, catering to a wide range of interests.
Powell's City of Books is a must-see for anyone visiting Portland. Plan for at least an hour—or even half a day—to explore its many floors and find your next favorite read. With a wide selection, knowledgeable staff, a great cafe, and the classic bookstore atmosphere of wooden floors and old typewriters, it’s the perfect spot to spend a rainy day. Be prepared for crowds, as this popular spot is a major tourist attraction.

Best book store ever! Must-Visit Portland Gem📚✨ A must-see destination for Portland visitors, this iconic bookstore warrants at least an hour—or up to half a day—to fully explore its many floors and discover your next favorite read. Extensive selections, knowledgeable staff, a cozy cafe, and classic bookstore charm with vintage typewriters. A delightful, immersive literary experience. Anticipate bustling crowds, as this treasured tourist attraction draws considerable visitor interest.
M R — Google review
A must visit bookstore, featuring the largest collection of books of all types I’ve ever seen. The store takes up an entire city block and is five stories tall. There are lots of guides to help point you toward what you’re looking for. There are also a variety of Portland gifts. The travel section and science fiction sections were amazing. Lots of obscure topics as well. There is also a little coffee shop on the ground floor looking out o to the street. One of my favorite features are shelves with the top books by category, such as best fiction, best nonfiction, staff favorites, etc. Absolutely worth a visit.
Chris — Google review
I got lost among thousands of books and found one of my favorite places in Portland: Powell's City of Books. The largest bookstore in the world (a full block) reminded me that there will always be stories waiting for us; you just have to dare to look for them among books and coffee. Since I was a teenager, I loved going to bookstores and spent hours there (literally); I would walk aisle after aisle and write down what I found interesting on my to-read list. In the end, I would leave with just one book, or sometimes with a bookmark, but always with great reflections and thoughts, and I never failed to feel the tinge of anxiety that my life wouldn't allow me to read everything I wanted to read. Visiting this bookstore was like giving that Carlitos an unforgettable experience and reminding him how fleeting life is, so I confirm what I understood at a very young age: I will only read what I am truly passionate about, and I'm not just talking about books. Only if I could change something it would be the cashier's attention.
Carlos C — Google review
They layout is interesting. You can easily get lost in the sea of books. Everything seems well organized. Some prices are quite surprising. Books from the 60-70s costing more than 20 bucks. Overall, it's worth visiting. But I didn't walk away with what I expected to find. But there are interesting books.
Julio P — Google review
Nov 2025 visit I adore books and cats. If you do as well, Powell's carries a number of adorable cat themed tote bags (and others) scattered around. I got stuck in the journal section for a while, admiring the beautiful artwork and embossed covers of blank journals. 3rd floor has the crafting books along with a rare book room (limited daytime hours). Will visit again.
Ali C — Google review
Book lovers dream and a must see destination for any Portland vacation! So many books, had to come two days in a row to check out everything! Incredible selection and very friendly and helpful staff. Recommend checking out the rare books room.
Lori P — Google review
I can go through this bookstore for hours. A huge selection, and it’s all a well maintained. The store is laid out by rooms, each holding different genres/categories. Whenever I’m in Portland I always have to stop by this location. It’s a tradition. I love the cafe they have connected to the bookstore as well!

Donut shop
Voodoo Doughnut is a popular counter-serve bakeshop known for its creative and quirky donut creations. The shop offers an eclectic blend of flavors and toppings, including unique options like the bacon maple bar, a peanut butter chocolate donut with crushed Oreos, and an apple fritter 'as big as your head.' It's even possible to get married at Voodoo Doughnut while enjoying their sweet treats.
Really fun spot and a Portland classic. The donuts are unique and taste great, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Be prepared to wait though, the line usually wraps around the building, especially at night and on weekends. Once you get inside, the neat vibe and variety of flavors make the wait worth it.
Lamplightermk101 — Google review
it was a definite must-visit for you. Inside its cozy, compact space, there's plenty to admire. You especially enjoyed their strawberry cheesecake , churro doughnut voodoo doughnuts etc , really loving the strawberry filling inside. The donuts were a bit sweeter than your usual preference, but overall, you had a good experience, and found both the doughnuts and merchandise to be reasonably priced. You think it's one of those spots you should check out at least once. this one felt more authentic and hit the spot for you, thanks in part to helpful staff like Cricket, who assisted you nicely in picking out your treats.
M R — Google review
Voodoo Doughnut is a must-visit for anyone who loves unique and specialty donuts! Each one is fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly crafted, turning every bite into a little moment of joy. The shop has such a fun and quirky vibe that makes it feel like more than just a stop for sweets — it’s an experience. Yes, the line can get long, but it moves surprisingly fast, and the anticipation just makes the donuts taste even better. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this spot is a fun, delicious, and Instagram-worthy stop. 🍩

Yes, I know the hype. You can try to come a little late at night (I came around 8 pm) and the line up wasn’t that crazy. They have lots of unique choices for donuts (which is intriguing). At the end I chose the classic chocolate. I think it was the best way to decide if they met the standard. It was not disappointing. The dough is a little crispy outside and soft inside. The chocolate is mixed sweet & savoury. Really good stuff!
Giovani M — Google review
I bought just one donuts but it was so big and I couldn't even finish it on my own. The shop is close to the water front park so I brought it to the river and had it while walking along the park. The exterior of the shop is pink and there is a big area outside the shop where people can enjoy the food. There is a security guard standing outside the shop controlling how many people can enter the shop so it won't get to crowded inside. There are many donuts flavor. See the photo. I've donuts is a little expensive $4.5 but it's worth is. Think it as a meal.
Nan L — Google review
This is a must stop when in Portland! I was told it is the original location, I didn't verify this. The donuts are pretty decent. Fun nostalgic shop. Staff is friendly! A line is formed outside and security let's you in to the shop! There is entertainment outside of the shop. Fun place check it out!
Amanda ( — Google review
Great donuts. Love the history and decoration. Wish it was in a better location. Parking is horrible and safety was a concern. There is a "security" guard at the door. It's not the fault of the shop it's just Portland's homeless population can be tense at times. The donuts are fabulous!!!
Shauntae C — Google review
Perfectly located across from Dante’s. Rock and roll, voodoo and donuts…Perfection. Short line since inside is pretty small. Moved quickly. Staff was super patient and guided us through their favorites. An absolute must visit spot in Portland!

Nature & Parks
Park
Tom McCall Waterfront Park is a scenic riverfront green belt in downtown Portland, offering paved paths, public art, and historical monuments. The park hosts various events and festivals like the Waterfront Blues Festival and LGBTQ Pride. Named after a governor who protected urban green spaces, it features a fountain for kids to play in and ample space for running around. Visitors can enjoy strolling, jogging, or cycling along the waterfront path while taking in the cherry blossoms during springtime.
This waterfront park is gorgeous! It was especially gorgeously beautiful in the last week of March 2025! The cherry blossom trees are breathtakingly beautiful, delicate, magical. When the wind blew, all of the people enjoying the flowers were treated to the softest pink candy fragrant flower petal shower. Being there for the cherry blossom trees’ bloom is like being in a beautiful dream!
Margot S — Google review
Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park is one of Portland’s most iconic gathering spots, especially in the spring. When the cherry blossoms are in bloom, the park transforms into a sea of pink—an absolutely magical sight that draws locals and visitors alike. Walking under the blossoms or sitting by the river as petals drift through the air feels like stepping into another world. It’s festive, lively, and one of the city’s most photogenic moments of the year. Throughout the year, the park remains a hub of activity. Joggers, cyclists, families, and groups of friends bring a constant energy to the riverside path. Festivals, events, and casual weekend outings keep the atmosphere vibrant and social. The open green spaces are perfect for picnics or simply lounging by the Willamette River. That said, the park has faced some challenges in recent years. Cleanliness and safety have become concerns, and it would benefit from more consistent upkeep to match its status as a centerpiece of the city. Ensuring that the park is well-maintained would only enhance its appeal and help preserve the welcoming, community-centered space it’s meant to be. In short, Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park is still a must-visit spot in Portland—especially during cherry blossom season, when it shines at its best. With more attention to cleanliness and safety, it could truly live up to its full potential as one of the city’s most beautiful and beloved parks.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, some may hate downtown but I love it! Yes it has its cracks and flaws like anywhere does but overall it’s enjoyable. I walk thru here almost everyday and I love it. It’s nice to look at the water, big fountain and to watch people enjoy there days or night.

The USS Mustin was in port and we saw our oldest grandson for the first time in 10 years. Security had fenced off the area and provided shade intense with plastic chairs. Too bad some of your local idiots do not understand the leash law for their dogs. Otherwise it was a fantastic experience.

It’s a very short walk from the Saturday market and there are numerous activities for all ages. It’s a great place to jog take a bike ride or just sit back and relax watch the waterfront activities. Within walking distance from this park are numerous food carts as well as other downtown businesses and the mall. Most occasions is very well kept and safe. A great place to visit anytime of the year.

This central hub hosts a variety of events and activities, making it a popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike. The square is surrounded by cultural attractions such as the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the Oregon Historical Society, and the Portland Art Museum.
I was apprehensive about going to see a concert here, as I was concerned about the acoustics. Turned out to be absolutely excellent. Jaime XX absolutely slayed. Crowd was great, vibes were amazing, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Would return for another show.

Pioneer Courthouse Square, often referred to as the "City's Living Room," is a vibrant public space located in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon. This iconic square serves as a focal point for community gatherings, events, and social interactions, making it a significant landmark in the city. **Historical Significance:** Pioneer Courthouse Square has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in the 1980s. Originally the site of the historic Pioneer Courthouse, the square was transformed into a public space to celebrate Portland's heritage. The courthouse itself, built in the 1860s, stands as a testament to the city’s architectural history and adds a charming backdrop to the square. The area embraces the spirit of Portland’s past while serving as a modern center for cultural and civic activities. **Design and Features:** The design of Pioneer Courthouse Square is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. It features a combination of brick pathways, open spaces, and terraced seating, making it an inviting area for visitors. The layout encourages people to relax, socialize, or participate in various activities. A prominent feature of the square is the large, iconic "Portland" sign, which has become a symbol of the city. The square also includes a water fountain, public art installations, and landscaped areas that enhance the overall ambiance. **Community Events and Activities:** Pioneer Courthouse Square is a hub for events throughout the year. From concerts and festivals to farmers' markets and holiday celebrations, the square hosts a diverse range of activities that cater to all ages. The summer months see an influx of events, including outdoor movies and live music performances, bringing together locals and tourists alike. The square also serves as a gathering place for protests, rallies, and civic engagement, reflecting the community's diverse perspectives and values. **Accessibility and Location:** Strategically located in downtown Portland, Pioneer Courthouse Square is easily accessible by public transport, including MAX light rail and bus services. Its central location makes it a convenient meeting point for locals and visitors exploring the city. The square is surrounded by various shops, restaurants, and cultural institutions, allowing visitors to easily transition from the square to nearby attractions. **Atmosphere and Vibe:** The atmosphere at Pioneer Courthouse Square is lively and welcoming. It attracts a diverse crowd, from office workers on lunch breaks to families enjoying a weekend outing. The sense of community is palpable, as people gather to relax, eat, or engage in conversation. Street performers often add to the vibrant ambiance, providing entertainment and enhancing the square's appeal as a lively gathering space. **Challenges and Considerations:** While Pioneer Courthouse Square is beloved, it also faces challenges typical of urban public spaces. Issues such as homelessness and occasional litter can detract from the experience for some visitors. However, efforts by local organizations and city officials to address these concerns show a commitment to maintaining the square as a safe and enjoyable space for everyone. In conclusion, Pioneer Courthouse Square is a vital and cherished part of Portland's urban landscape. Its blend of historical significance, modern design, and community engagement creates a unique environment that fosters connection and collaboration. Whether you're attending an event, enjoying a moment of solitude, or simply soaking in the city's energy, the square offers a little something for everyone, making it a must-visit destination in Portland.
Antonio M — Google review
Great concert and event space! Nice natural amphitheater and food trucks when they are open. They offer a misting tent in the summer with concerts and in the winter a huge tree lighting.
Mashall S — Google review
Love this place, love the immersion, and the brick everything... Honestly if it weren't for aggressive homeless/addicts it would be a five stars but that's likely always going to be the case given the location. Summer concerts are amazing here.
Blake T — Google review
Downtown Portland surprised me with its charming, almost European vibe—walkable streets, cozy cafés, and beautiful old buildings. There’s a laid-back energy, lots of greenery, and plenty of spots to sit and people-watch. It feels both relaxed and cultured, like a little slice of Europe in the PNW. It seems cleaner and safer now than few months and even years before. But not quite pre covid though.
Marta S — Google review
Nothing to really do here. The courthouse is pretty, but the square itself was closed off for vendors to set up. If we waited we could have grabbed food, but we didn't go there to eat
Cigal S — Google review
Living room of Portland. Name restaurants are in this area and there is also a Japanese Muji store and a shipping center. There are chairs in the square available for visitors.
Nan L — Google review
First time attending starlight parade. Would absolutely go back and recommend to others. Lots of family friendly choices and ample security. It's been a long time since I've seen pioneer courthouse square tidy relatively litter free.

Park
The International Rose Test Garden, located in Washington Park between the historic Portland neighborhoods of Arlington Heights and Goose Hollow, is a city-maintained garden that was established in 1917. It boasts over 10,000 rose plants displayed in meticulously manicured gardens. The garden offers stunning views of Downtown Portland and Mt. Hood and is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
I read somewhere that this rose garden is Portland's most popular attraction. It's massive it is also part of the larger forest park region that houses many more cool parks. Summer is when the roses bloom and they look and smell amazing. Flower lovers can spend hours here walking through each row of roses. And astonishing how many species of roses live here. The other day I saw a ketchup and mustard rose. When you're tired of roses, you can then walk to the nearby ampitheater to chill and watch one of their many summer shows for free. Parking here can be tough it's coming here during the day. If you don't want to fight for spots, considered coming early morning or after hours.

It is peaceful and beautiful to walk in nature. I learned there is a 9-11 tribute rose. The variety is amazing. I came in late October when the smell wasn't so strong. Many flowers were hanging on their last breath. But it was a nice cloudy day and I enjoyed walked the park alone. They have a few trails you can walk but I wasn't properly dressed. Had I known I would have brought running shoes.

first time visit with my friends and we really enjoyed our time- i think we just walked around smelling and admiring the roses for at least an hour and a half. i had no idea there were so many kinds of roses. it is so well maintained and beautiful with a rich history and a staple of portland. please visit! be sure to check if you will be there when the roses are blooming. we were there in early october and there were still plenty of beautiful roses to see

What an incredible garden to stroll around and be amazed at the variety of roses with every turn. I went 10/28/25, so it was fall season and the leaves on the trees brought magic to this oasis on top of the hill. I spent more time venturing over to the Sacajawea Statue, Lewis & Clark column, then over to Coming of the White Man Statue and through the Holocaust area. If you are looking for a place of solitude and serene views, then check this park out.

Wow. I’ve been to quite a few rose gardens and none are this large. Even in late Oct there were still lots of blooms. I can’t imagine the smell in summer. Plan for at least an hour if you want to see the whole thing. We loved stopping and smelling the roses 🥰

The rose garden was beautifully maintained. Even though we visited outside of peak season, it was clear the gardeners take great care of the grounds. The paths were well-kept, and the remaining blooms still offered vibrant pops of color. To top it off, I even came across a kindness rock, which made the visit extra spe

Breakfast restaurant
Fried Egg I'm In Love is a popular food truck known for its elevated breakfast sandwiches served on toasted sourdough bread. The food truck is located at the Cart Blocks food-cart pod, making it convenient for those exploring the Pearl District, Old Town, Chinatown, and downtown Portland. While parking may be a bit challenging at their brick and mortar location on Hawthorne, the lines move quickly and diners can grab a table to enjoy their meal.
We stopped by Fried Egg I’m In Love and were seriously impressed! We ordered the Vegan and the Sara, and it was packed with flavor—definitely not your average breakfast sandwich. The avocado was a perfect blend with the cheese. On top of that, the customer service was amazing—the guy was super friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. Great food, great vibes. We’ll definitely be back!
Abdul C — Google review
We take all our out-of-town visitors here. Delicious egg sandwiches with the local flavor of Pioneer Square. This past Saturday we treated our nephew to gourmet egg sandwiches from a food truck, something he's not seen in the Midwest (gourmet anything from a food truck). As we sat waiting in the shade upon chairs provided by IKEA, we listened to the dulcet sounds of the city... the gentle fluttering chorus of coos and clucks of the city pigeons was layered with tinny christian music emanating from a box truck parked in the center of the square. The band was promoting something called Heaven to Earth and its members all stood sweating, crammed in the open box save the drummer, who somehow earned a spot on the paver bricks where he could at least feel the breeze. All of this was punctuated by the shrieks of a woman doing her best to evade a small fleet of security personnel bedecked in bright yellow vests... She came around Starbucks from the North, wailed a hasty retreat, then cut straight through the center of everything, pausing her screams just long enough to hurl an insult toward the box truck full of Christians... Ah, Portland in the summer! Anyway, the sandwiches were the bomb. Can't wait until our next visitors give us another excuse to dine here again! If you're eating it on the road I recommend passing on the delicious pesto... it gets oily and messy to eat. However, if you have the time to sit and eat with a pile of napkins at hand the pesto is well worth the mess!

Apparently, food carts are very popular in Portland, and a friend recommended we try Fried Egg for breakfast. When we arrived, there was already a short line, always a good sign. We placed our order, and while it took a little time for the food to come out, it wasn’t too long. Unfortunately, there was no seating area nearby, so we took our order back to the hotel to eat. The sandwiches were delicious and absolutely worth both the price and the short wait.

Such a great find. Our daughter swore about this place and she didn't miss. We got three different sandwiches. The smells like protein spirit. Which comes on toasted sourdough, fried egg, Tillamook cheese and protein choice. Huevo mutilation sandwich comes on sourdough, fried egg, smashed sausage patty with caramelized onions aardvark aioli. So good and must try. My daughter got the vegetarian patty sandwich. If you're looking to get coffee they don't serve it here but there are numerous places near by that do.

Agree with everything that has been said. Food truck is serving delicious breakfast sandwiches. Got the Yolko Zeppelin and loved it. The pesto has a little kick which was a nice surprise. Travels well to as I was able to carry to the Saturday Market and sandwich was still fresh.

We got the Sriracha sandwich and the Huevo Mutilation sandwich and both were 10/10!! This food truck is super busy, we waited around 20 minutes for the food but super worth the wait. There are brick steps all around the food truck that you can sit and eat.

A special little surprise in the park in a bright yellow trailer! At first I thought they were unexpectedly closed as I got there at 8am, but they were running a bit late and opened at 8:03. Mother's Bistro & Bar is a charming and cozy eatery located in downtown Portland, known for its warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is adorned with country-chic decor and elegant chandeliers, creating a homey yet sophisticated ambiance. Owned by Lisa Shroeder, the bistro specializes in serving hearty comfort-food classics that are reminiscent of traditional home-cooked meals.
Superb! Heard lots of good things about this place, but the actual experience was even better. We had breakfast, and our 7-person party was extatic. The food was on point, and the service was surprisingly prompt and very kind. The classic Benedict eggs and French toast were outstanding! This is a must do!

Got there 5 minutes before opening, was able to get seated right away and within 30 minutes the place was almost full! And I totally understand why, The food was very good, no real vegan options for anyone that's interested in that. My father is vegan and I am not, he was able to get dry toast, potatoes and avocado. I got the Three Little Pigs scramble, bacon, ham, pork sausage scrambled with eggs and cheese. Along with potatoes, and toast. Was really good, prices are decent. Was $40 even for two people. Our waiter was generous and was able to make us happy. Highly recommend this place

The food and drinks were well crafted and delicious! Great little brunch spot. We definitely want to try the lunch and dinner services next. 10/10!

Fantastic experience at Mother’s Bistro! Everything we ordered was spot-on — from the crispy fried zucchini to the fluffy pancakes and perfectly seasoned hash. The coffee was great, and the menu has an amazing variety to choose from. Our server was attentive and made some excellent recommendations that did not disappoint. The manager also checked on us several times, which I really appreciate since so many places have moved away from that personal touch. Highly recommend making a reservation — especially if you’re a Platinum AMEX cardholder, since you can book through Resy for an even smoother experience. Great food, great service, and a warm, welcoming vibe!

We had brunch at Mother's Bistro in Portland and overall really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We tried the Cajun Frittata and the Wild Salmon Hash-both were flavorful and well-prepared. The "Three Little Pigs" omelets, however, were a bit of a letdown as they came out slightly dry and overcooked. Coffee was just okay-not quite up to the level of the food. Still, the experience was mostly great, and we'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Took our parents out for a casual dinner last night. Our group consisted of ages ranging from 5 to 75y.o. Everyone found something they wanted to eat and enjoyed it. Food was fresh, well seasoned, and expertly prepared. The staff were very attentive and contagiously positive. We were very pleased with our dinner experience. Will try their brunch next time.

They ran out of dumplings for my chicken and dumplings, but it was still delicious served wish mashed potatoes, and I devoured it. I even added more mashed potatoes from the other 2 dishes, it was so good. I prefer the pot roast over the chicken fried chicken, but both are flavorful. We were sat in the bar instead of the dining area, not sure why, but the dining area across the way looked more comfortable and nicer atmosphere. But the bar was a window seat and had date night lighting and a game on, so couldn't complain. I was surprised we weren't given a choice, that's all.

I was there for a conference and went for brunch on Thursday, 10/3/25. Was seated right away. By the time we left, the restaurant was basically full.... on a Thursday. Food was good. Restaurant is gorgeous. Waiter said the specials too fast and was not happy when I asked him to repeat it. (Ahh kids) But I do wish our avocado in the daily special omelette was fresh and not brown, because that omelette was good. Wish you and all the nearby business the best 🥰

French restaurant
Norwegian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of downtown Portland, MÅURICE is a delightful French-Scandinavian luncheonette that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike since its opening in 2013 by chef Kristen Murray. This charming eatery boasts a minimalist all-white dining room where guests can indulge in an array of pastries and innovative dishes inspired by Nordic and French culinary traditions.
What a unique dining experience! The owner and head chef greeted us as we were looking at the menu on the door. We had to come in! She was so friendly and willing to talk. You can tell she really values her guests. The food was all fabulous, with the best French onion soup I’ve had (it’s their seasonal soup right now), and then a fabulous lemon Soufflé and chocolate cinnamon cookie that I was NOT expecting to taste like that. The host made conversation with us and I will be sure to remember that as well. The place is so cute and chic as well. I felt very welcome. So glad I stopped in!

“A refuge, a moment out of time.” Where you slow down, and enjoy each dish made to order. The quiche here was a different animal - so soft the filling almost oozed out of the flaky crust. And the razor clams were divine! It was so full of umami and reminded me of the Chinese mitten crab. I already long to be back for the clams (and everything else). Plus great dessert.

Long birthday lunch for a dear friend - every bite was a delight! Radish & chive finger sandwiches, prawns, sole in parchment, spanakopita, basque cheesecake to finish. The chef was in Germany and the chef’s taking over the kitchen for the week offered equal care and creativity in each dish. The seafood was simply exquisite - perfectly seasoned, cook times to the second, we ordered bread to sop up every single drop of the jus. Pricey so I don’t go often, but when I do I dream incessantly about my next visit. Truly one of Portland’s finest restaurants!

This is a very cute place. The food is mostly good. The muscles flavor is great and very unique with the pine nuts. Cheesecake is delicious. The baguette and butter is ridiculously small and expensive. The pork salad has pork that is bland like a sheet of white paper, and the fried veggie part of the salad is inedible. This is the service is slow, but it doesn’t bother me too much because the place is nice and we can chill sitting outside

Great lunch spot with cool atmosphere and focused menu. Interesting dishes, small plates. Service can be a little slow because they are packed.

Incredibly charming space that also delivers on food, drink and friendly service. Truly enjoyed the seasonal chilled tomato soup and pan roasted flounder with chanterelles (fish du jour). And do not skip the elegant & tasty desserts!

A unique lunch spot , white washed room , very small, short menu, Small portions. some of the dishes could use more flavor/sauce. Granted, the Norwegian style dishes are rather bland for a more robust taste palette. Some tables are communal or shared. There can be a wait outside even in the rain.

The food was delicious. My favorite was the winter salad as the cabbage was fresh, crisp and dressed well. Another great dish was the black pepper cheesecake. Looked stunning and tasted wonderful (much lighter than a NY cheesecake and more moist than a Japanese cheesecake). The restaurant was beautiful as well as small. Made for a cozy meal. The folks working there were friendly, kind and hospitable.

Nodoguro is a Japanese restaurant that offers various levels of omakase experiences, featuring meticulously crafted dishes made with high-quality ingredients. The fish, often wild-caught and imported from markets in Japan, takes center stage in the menu. Wagyu from Kagoshima, albacore from Astoria, sea urchin from Santa Barbara, and other premium ingredients are showcased in the multicourse menus.
A friend booked a table at the April dinner, and I did not pay enough attention to our itinerary to know what to expect. This was, hands-down, one of the most delightful and exciting meals I have ever experienced. Each dish was beautifully prepared and presented with loving narration. The owners gently encouraged us with each delivery to experiment with the various sakes as we tasted. Flavors, textures, service, ambience… all in mind-blowing harmony and absolutely beautiful to experience with close friends.

We did the Peter Cat dinner with sake pairing. It was such a wonderful and memorable experience. Our table loved every dish and sake that we had. Everything tasted so vibrant and fresh. We each got a bottle to take home with us. The staff are amazing and interact with diners and were informative about each sake and dish pairing. I will definitely be back here again.

We’re friends who’ve known each other for over 30 years and have been reuniting annually. We spent the evening here for the Peter Cat story. The service and hospitality was phenomenal. The owners were careful, intentional and brought warmth to every dish. The food was beautifully arranged and delicious. Every part of this experience was amazing. Thank you to the entire team for making this “friends trip” one of our best yet.

Went for the Peter Cat night, and I have to say.. I really liked the atmosphere. It was a wonderful establishment, most of the staff was amazing, some of the most caring and delightful staff i have ever met. The food, though, was very one dimensional, I could not say it was bad at all because that wasn't it. It was just not up to the hype. Everything was very fresh and well prepared it just wasn't jumping out at me as being an "experience" I have eaten at some very wonderful places recently and I feel like I could put a few above this based off of price and food experience. Maybe I was overly hyped up, but I was expecting something a bit more eye-opening, and it all felt very safe. Again, this is a wonderful establishment, the people are literally the best, but the food is very average. For the price, it would be hard for me to want to try again on a different nights experience.

It has taken me 10 years too long to write this review for Nodoguro. Chef Ryan and Elena Roadhouse have not only executed one of the finest sousaku (“creative, original work”) Japanese dining experiences in Portland, they are impeccable hosts and committed to this town. In fact, having dined with them through 4 locations (we discovered them after their early pop-up days), it feels like home when we come in. We’ve celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, and every time we are awed by new dishes and love to revisit favorite ones. The photos of the beautifully and tastefully amazing food speak for themselves. The saké and wine pairings are thoughtfully curated. The pace of the meal with only one seating for the night feels like time has stood still, and you don’t want it to end. The price point might be a stretch, but the experience will not disappoint. Take someone special with you to share the meal and make the memory of the art that unfolds for your eyes and mouth - you’ll be glad you did.

Flawless execution of the food. Went for the Peter Cat menu. The menu changes so it’s probably not helpful to review. It is definitely worth the price and the service is great. Overall great time

I’ve been taking friends, family, and coworkers to Nodoguro since their 2014 popups. I’ve had at least 12 dinners over time which has never felt old. Ryan and Elena are amazing hosts and continue to make their environment very welcoming, fun, at times educational, and they always give such a delightful presentation to each amazingly tasty course. Whether you live in the Portland area or just visiting, don’t miss out on Nodoguro.

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Oregon Zoo, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Washington Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Environmental organization
The Oregon Zoo, located in the lush Washington Park, spans 64 acres and is home to nearly 3,000 animals from 90 different species, including 19 endangered ones. The zoo's exhibits are divided into five themed areas: the Great Northwest, Pacific Shores, Discovery Zone, Africa, and Elephant Lands. Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife such as elephants, polar bears, river otters, penguins and lions.
We have been to a lot of zoos and this one felt like you could get super close to all the animals. The walk was very well laid out and easy to follow even without carrying a map. The animals were well cared for, and the terrain was just beautiful. If I had an negative about the park, it might be that at times it was hard to find the trashcan, but what I really really liked was you could always find a bench and somewhere to sit to enjoy the wildlife and to rest. I do think this zoo is very well worth a trip. In about 2 1/2 hours, you can see everything and experience just some wonderful terrain to walk-through. It wasn’t too difficult or hard to climb and I always felt like I could do it in a wheelchair if I had to. One of the most interesting things I saw in this zoo was a children’s sandbox play area that looked like just the kind of things. My children would have loved when they were 2-6 years old. Parking was very interesting and you had to download a specific app, but there were kiosk where you could get a parking place without having to use the app so I was very thankful for that.

I've been here twice now as a guest of a annual pass holding zoo member. Delightful each time. Animals appear to be in great shape and have gorgeous habitats. They even accommodated for my service animal with no issues providing a special map to help guide through the zoo. I really enjoy coming here. And with the Rose garden and many other things connected around the zoo it's a lovely place to hang out for the day.

The zoo itself was amazing. The structural aspect of the zoo is great, easy paths to follow that allows you to see all of the animals very easily without confusing path directions and such. The variety of animals is also very good. The Zoo itself has 3 restaurants/cafes all together, so if you do not want to bring food there is plenty to choose from. The grass are by the food options is also great for kids to let go of steam, have a great picnic or just to enjoy a nice break. The only thing I wish the zoo would advertise on their website is which animals are currently not available, as there were many such as the lions, spotted dogs, cheetahs etc that were not available to see due to different reasons. However, all in all is it a great zoo!
R R — Google review
Easily one of the best zoos in the states. The layout is excellent. I walked over 3 miles from my parking spot and going through each exhibit, it's definitely a two to three hour per visit kind of place. The volunteers and staff are really kind and helpful. The elephant house is a fan favorite - especially with the arrival of the new baby elephant!
Hailey L — Google review
Absolutely love this zoo! You’ll find a fantastic range of animals, including adorable new babies like an elephant, turtle, and ape, all thriving in spacious habitats. Visit now for minimal weekend crowds and affordable admission—perfect for a day of exploration! Bring your own snacks to save on food and skip the lines. On the downside, there’s a parking fee, and it can get super crowded in late spring and summer, making it tricky to see the animals, especially with kids. Plus, tickets are only available online now—no more at the gate! Pro tip: If you’re military, part of a group, a nonprofit, or an eligible family, you could snag discounted tickets up to 50%, so check eligibility before buying tickets!

The zoo was fun to visit, although it was raining during my visit. Gift store has some great souvenirs and even an aoxotl umbrella that's great for kids. Nice variety of animals to view.

Amazing zoo. Came here on a whim and we were blown away. I have never seen animals at a zoo so healthy looking, active and playful. The design was also great that it took you on a loop, and we loved that it was incorporated into the nature around us.

Absolutely beautiful park! Loved the mist stations all around to help keep cool on hot days. Only surprise was that the entire park is cashless but you can get a loadable MasterCard for use around the park at a kiosk that takes cash. Animals are VERY well cared for and have nice sized habitats, customized for their species. 10/10 would absolutely love to go again.

Washington Park, located within the expansive Forest Park in Portland, is a must-visit destination offering an array of diverse attractions. From the Oregon Zoo and Hoyt Arboretum to the World Forestry Center and Children's Museum, there's something for everyone. The park is renowned for its International Rose Test Garden with over 10,000 rose bushes and the serene Japanese Garden, both providing stunning views of downtown and the Cascade Range mountains.
Roses are my favorite so of course I had to visit the Rose Garden. I enjoyed walking through the gardens and smelling all the different roses. The amphitheater was perfect for a break. The walk from the parking lot was very enjoyable. There’s a free trolley you can get on to make your way to the zoo and Japanese gardens too.

Our day trip from Seattle led us straight into a dream at the Portland International Rose Garden in Washington Park. The moment we stepped in, it felt like walking onto the set of a romance movie…roses in every shade imaginable, perfectly cared for, their fragrance floating through the air like a love spell. Every turn revealed another picture-perfect scene, as if the garden itself wanted to be admired. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, where you can wander hand in hand and feel completely wrapped in beauty. Even the practical side is easy, with plenty of paid parking along the road, so the magic begins the moment you arrive. Truly a garden made for memories.

The park is huge!!! I rode Maxi red line and got off right at the Washington Park station. The trail is underground but there are elevators that can buying you to the street level. I'm surprised how deep the rails are running underground. You will see Oregon zoo right outside. It's around $5 dollar reasonable price. I hiked the Wildwood trail. It's a little challenging for some portion of the trail but I managed to walk all the way back to the rose garden playground. The ride garden is free.

Portland is a beautiful city. Washington Park is just one of its many treasures. We visited the Japanese Garden and got a chance to hear Japanese string music played. It was like being transported to another place and time. The walk through the garden is spiritually recharging. Hubby and I experienced the calm, peace and restoration of Shinrin yoku or forest bathing. We finished our garden walk at the gift shop where they sell such curious items and inspired books. We rode the shuttle around the park to see the other attractions like the zoo and the Discovery museum. We were sad we didn’t get to visit all of the attractions for lack of time.

RingSide Steakhouse is a classic, upscale establishment that has been a staple in Portland for nearly 75 years. The restaurant boasts an impressive 10,000-bottle wine cellar and tuxedoed servers, adding to its old-school charm. Located in a unique brick building in Portland's Nob Hill neighborhood, RingSide offers a diverse menu featuring locally sourced vegetables and seafood alongside their renowned onion rings.
Amazing service, very vintage steakhouse feel. Our waiter Nicholas was knowledgeable, courteous and attentive. The onion rings do not disappoint. Drinks were great- the Ann-Margaret was refreshing but not too sweet. Make reservations, it’s worth it
Kim B — Google review
From the beginning: Valet parking— amazing. You pull up, you’re greeted politely, valet opens your passenger door. It’s a nice touch to start your dinner. The wait— we didn’t wait because we had a reservation. We also got there about 10 minutes early and before 6pm. I recommend doing the same if you can. Finally… what you’re really waiting for… The Food—Superb. French fried onion rings, they look crunchy, and taste crunchy. Even after 10 minutes of conversation. That French dressing sauce is *chef’s kiss* and I don’t like Bleu Cheese. That’s saying something. Caesar salad, worth every dollar to upgrade from the mixed greens salad. I wish I didn’t eat anything today because I wanted that whole salad. The dressing is fresh made, and the croutons are all small pieces so you can mix to your hearts content and not spend time breaking down croutons. The Prime Rib… what a showstopper. My husband and I have prime rib for special occasions and this gave our usual spot in Austin a run for their money. They only serve it on Mondays so if you want the option, plan accordingly. Dessert was a simple crème brûlée and it tasted anything but. So decadent, the custard was vanilla bean and the sugar crackle layer was perfection. This was one of the best dinners I’ve ever had. The service was unrivaled. The vibe was everything. Enjoy your meal, Cheers!

Upscale steakhouse with quality meat and seafood, inventive sides, and tempting cocktails. You can't find a better steak at this price point. Menu options include USDA choice, prime, and dry-aged prime beef, as well as wagyu, fried chicken, lobster, and other entrees. I particularly recommend Ringside if you haven't tried dry-aged beef before, as theirs is consistently superb.

We went to Ringside for my husband’s birthday last night and it was spectacular. The A5 wagyu striploin was the best steak I’ve ever had!! Will be coming back to visit from Seattle specifically for this dish. The onion rings are lightly battered and onions are cooked perfectly. We also had the bone marrow which was fantastic and the desserts (creme brûlée & pumpkin spice cheesecake) were beautiful and delicious. Get the Graham’s 20 year Tawny Port to pair with them! The staff were so attentive and very knowledgeable. 5 star experience all around!
Mariko H — Google review
Going to Ringside Steakhouse was a full experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and led to our table, which was right next to a fireplace! We started with the Onion Rings, and like others have said, they were to die for. They were crunchy, flavorful, and the French dressing was the perfect sauce. Now - for the main, I had the Bone In Ribeye and my fiancée had the Kagoshima A5 Wagyu. My Ribeye was juicy, flavorful, and tender. However, her steak was among the bests steaks I’ve ever had in my life, I found myself going back to her plate for more! Also - shoutout to Tyler, his service made the experience even more memorable as he was always attentive, had great recommendations, and was professional through and through.

I have been dreaming about this restaurant since we went here for my birthday. We had the French onion soup, oysters, steaks, sides, and desserts. I highly recommend all the food here. The blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini were even incredible.

Starting with the valet, cordial, polite and quick. As we made our way into the restaurant, the host and hostess, attentive to our arrival. Smiles with professionalism. We were a bit early for our reservation. They invited us to wait in the bar and enjoy a drink. I had a Japanese locker and my wife had an espresso martini. She said it was the best espresso martini she's ever had. After we were seated at our table, Alexander and supporting staff we're very attentive, friendly, polite and professional. We were in the barrel room. The displays of wine with the brick was very nice. Along with the dim lighting, it made for a very romantic atmosphere. BUT.....The steak! Wow. The bread, the onion rings, the sauces, the garlic mashed potatoes. If you come here, ask for Alexander to be your server. The bill was pretty hefty but dear God, worth every penny! Considering that a Big Mac is $20 these days I'd say it's a heck of a deal! 🤣 Thank you to the Ringside owner ane staff. I can tell you read the book "Unreasonable hospitality" 😁

Donut shop
Blue Star Donuts is an upscale brioche-donut bakery that offers a variety of creative flavors made with organic, locally sourced ingredients. With multiple locations in Portland and outposts in LA, this donut shop has gained recognition as one of America's best. Unlike the whimsical toppings at Voodoo Doughnut, Blue Star Donuts caters to adults with flavors like blueberry bourbon basil and Cointreau creme brulee.
Blue Star Donuts is one of Portland’s premier donut shops, offering a unique twist on a classic favorite. Their donuts are known for their creative flavor combinations and high-quality ingredients. The first thing you'll notice when you walk into the shop is the inviting atmosphere. The sleek, modern design contrasts perfectly with the warmth of the donuts. I tried their famous Blueberry Bourbon Basil donut, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The sweetness of the blueberry jam was perfectly complemented by the subtle tang of bourbon and the fresh basil added a refreshing herbal kick. The texture of the donut was light and airy, not too greasy, which I really appreciated. What sets Blue Star apart from other donut shops in Portland is their commitment to using locally sourced ingredients and their dedication to crafting each donut by hand. You can also find vegan options, which is a huge plus. If you’re a fan of gourmet donuts or just looking for a unique snack, Blue Star Donuts is a must-visit destination in Portland

Blue Star Donuts is a must when you’re in Portland. This weekend they had one of my favorite donuts available. The Passion Fruit Cocoa Nib🤤. It has the right combination of sweet, tart and spicy flavors and perfect texture. Deliciousness all around!

Nov 2025 I picked up 5 donuts on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The seasonal flavors are great (spiced sugar donut, apple butter, apple fritter, etc). Sadly, my classic glazed (old fashioned) and apple fritter were both dripping oil. I believe that often means the fryer oil wasn't quite hot enough. Both still great tasting but it is hard to get the texture of oil out of my mouth. Glaze were great- they held up well. The store lighting was great: very airy. If it weren't so wet, I'm sure it would be a neat space to catch-up with a friend or people watch. I took the Light Rail, the closest stop is about 1.5 blocks away. Super close by and easy to catch another back to downtown. I had visited previously in 2019. I'm glad to have tried more Blue Star donuts on this trip.

"A true Portland classic, famous for a reason: The chewy texture and fresh flavors really stand out" Food: I ordered the blueberry bourbon basil donut. It was just under $5. The blueberry flavor was sweet and fragrant, and I think the dough was brioche-based—super chewy and soft, kind of like fancy milk bread. Totally satisfying. Service: The staff gave an awesome explanation of the donuts and were really friendly too. Ambiance: The space is big and pleasant. The donut display case was so beautiful, I found myself just staring at it for a while.

While in Portland, we wanted to try a local donut shop and decided on Blue Star, which seemed like a solid choice over the more famous Voodoo Doughnuts. We got up early, spent a few hours exploring the Gorge, and hit Blue Star late morning before heading to the Japanese Garden. We ordered: • Buttermilk Old Fashioned: My favorite of the bunch. Super moist with a great texture—would definitely get it again. • OG Glazed: A solid classic donut we really enjoyed. • Cointreau Crème Brûlée: A bit gimmicky with the Cointreau squeeze dropper, which got lost in the flavor. Still, the brittle top was a nice nod to the dessert it’s named after. Around 11 a.m., the place felt a bit messy—dirty tables, empty napkin holders, and a touch disorganized. Overall, I’d rate Blue Star a 3.5 based on the experience, but the Buttermilk Old Fashioned and OG Glazed were legit delicious, so I’m bumping it up to a 4.

Don’t be seduced by Voodoo donuts in Portland. Blue Star is where it’s at. This is where the locals go. Fresh and tasty. They were out of the cherry filled (devastating) by the time we got there. So go early if you want that. Apple fritter, bourbon and lavender honey were great. No stronger lavender taste. The place is clean and communal seating was good. Great service.

I don't really eat donuts too much these days, however, in my return trip to Portland after almost 9 years I had to make a trip to Blue Star...in fact, I walked 30 min in the rain (willingly) to savor these little bad boys! So many great options to choose from! Service was quick and easy though I know it can get busy at times and they do sell out of some of their options if you wait to late to go in. Pretty chill inside and there is table and counter seating by the windows.

Everyone says these are a must-try in Portland so I gave them a shot. Lots of unique flavors and more on the bready side BUT definitely better than Voodoo. I would say though they tasted pretty standard to me so I probably wouldn’t go out of my way next time to come here but it’s a good place to go if you haven’t been If you asked me my favorite flavor, it’d be the olive oil one even though I don’t usually like olive oil! Washington Square is a large shopping center located in Tigard, Oregon. It has been around for over 50 years and has undergone expansions to become a popular destination. The mall features a wide range of department stores, specialty shops, and dining options. With over 170 specialty stores and five major department stores, including the largest Nordstrom in the state, it offers a diverse shopping experience.
I visited this mall to get an Apple 16 Pro for a friend and a tasty Turkish delight. The mall is big, spacious and clean. It's well-lighted and also has Cheese Cake and Co. The restrooms are clean. The instructions to the elevator or escalators are not super clear on the mall help app. Awesome experience.

Washington Square Mall is one of the best shopping destinations in the area. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a great mix of stores—from high-end brands to more budget-friendly options. The layout is easy to navigate, and there’s always plenty of parking. The food court offers a nice variety of choices, and there are also some great sit-down restaurants nearby. I’ve always felt safe and comfortable walking around, even during busier times. Staff and store employees have been friendly and helpful every time I’ve visited. I also really appreciate the two coffee spots in the mall—both are perfect for a mid-shopping break. Whether you’re grabbing a quick espresso or settling in with a latte to relax and people-watch, they each have a warm, welcoming vibe and great service. Whether you’re doing serious shopping or just looking for a pleasant place to spend time, Washington Square is a solid go-to spot.

Great big shopping mall the only problem is that they closed all the stores with good deals they closed McDonalds Ez freezy and more most of the new stores are all clothing stores that are expensive. they still have good stores though. Also on Black Friday its not worth going there the traffic is way to long you cant enter a store in the mall because of how busy it is I recommend shopping online for Black Friday.

This is about Halloween Day. This is about Maria Halstead. Today is October 31st, 2025. It is HALLOWEEN. We were a group of 5 families that went to the mall to go trick or treating with our young kids. We were all dressed up and very happy to enjoy the day off, making this a memorable event for our kids. As we went from store to store, our kids collected candy from kind shop workers until we were randomly confronted by a very grumpy and rude woman (outside the Aritzia store) who claimed to work for the mall management.

This woman spoke on behalf of the mall saying they aren’t celebrating and discouraged us from even participating in the holiday spirit at this mall. Since she does not have the means to kick us out, we have every right to be at the mall. In fact, we are frequent shoppers and now have a different perspective of this place since this confrontation.
I am writing this review to let everyone know that this was extremely uncalled for. There were many other families with their young kids trick or treating and other stores participating in the Halloween spirit. Of all days, it is Halloween day, so it is expected families will show up. We did this two years ago as well. This mall prides itself on being a gathering place for families, but today, I did not feel that from this rude scrooge-like woman/management. Other shopping malls are celebrating handing out candy today. A bunch of us families will reconsider supporting this mall. We know a lot of folks and are well connected in the surrounding communities.

The rude person is a white middle-aged woman about 5ft, brown hair, and needs an attitude check. Way to go, scaring away customers! After looking at their website, her name is Maria Halstead, general manager/property management. She’s terrible at her job. She must be fired! I will consider taking my business elsewhere to places like Bridgeport Village, where it is more friendly and inviting.

It is one of the best malls you can find in the Portland area. To me, it is always a great experience to visit this gorgeous and gigantic mall. I found most of the major retailers and shops here with great deals. The mall is always packed with people, and it has plenty of kids' playgrounds. I would love to be back soon

Pittock Mansion, a 23-room museum built in 1914, offers visitors a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the affluent in the early 20th century. The mansion, commissioned by Henry Pittock, features period furnishings and rotating exhibits such as 'Dining in the Gilded Age,' showcasing tableware from that era. The French Renaissance-style chateau boasts scenic views of Portland and the Cascade Mountains.
Beautiful!! I think it’d be cool if some of the rooms weren’t roped off — like the upstairs bathroom— but I also understand why they aren’t. I really liked that the servants quarters and such were on display (kinda). That was super cool. I loved all of the teapots and china on display as well

Cool hangout spot with great panoramic views. The mansion itself is small but nice and takes about 30 minutes to explore. Bathrooms inside and a small guesthouse you can also see inside is also included with the ticket. The main attraction is the views outside the mansion overlooking Portland and beyond. The view itself is free just go inside the house you have to pay. Also don’t forget to pay for parking. Have fun!

It's the best place to see Portland. I came for the view and took some beautiful photos of the city and nature. The inside of the house offers a glimpse into a historical life. There are some wonderful historical artifacts, including old-time home layouts, household items, and kitchenware. I'd call it a museum. I found parking. I paid $5-6. The ticket was around $20. It was worth it for the view.

Gorgeous grounds to walk and views are amazing too. The mansions architecture and furnishings are so impressive for their time and still beautiful even now. Spent about an hour to hour and a half and it was want busy at all, this was on a Wednesday morning. They have an elevator if you need it. Very nice staff. Parking is $2 an hour or $8 for the day. They had a couple handicap spaces which are very close to the mansion.

Researched different areas to explore on our trip to Portland and found PITTOCK Mansion, it had great views plus we could explore the mansion by ourselves. They have beautiful flower gardens along with picnic tables with a view of Mount Hood. Their staff was extremely helpful and polite. We also took up some of the trails that were near the mansion.

Beautiful views and hikes. The mansion was amazing to visit. The volunteers were eager to tellvus the history and interesting facts. I was impressed with the history and how they displayed the information. The price was reasonable. Definitely a must see.

A beautiful little site with great views of the Downtown Portland, the fall foliage and even Mount Hood, if it's clear. I'm told in a few weeks, they will go nuts with the Christmas decorations. So if that's your thing, go for it!

Nestled in a serene 5.5-acre space, the Portland Japanese Garden offers a stunning contrast to its surroundings. The garden showcases various styles and features a waterfall, teahouse, and mountain views. Unlike the nearby rose gardens, this AAA GEM attraction is a study in shades of green with delicate Japanese irises and water lilies adorning koi ponds.
A beautiful place with amazing history. Amazing bonsai. Fantastic water features. Lovely resting places. Clean. Peaceful. Definitely recommend getting the membership. With a membership you can go before and after public hours. Visit during special moments, or get notified of special moments. The staff are friendly. The location is reasonably handicap accessible for the most part. Near the International Rose Test Gardens; an awesome duo trip if you have time. Nice little cafe with fancy treats and tea. Nifty place to stop after walking around. The gift shop is cute. The art galleries and learning experiences are really fun as well.

It’s a good garden and well maintained. The Japanese theme has been carefully curated and does match actual Japanese gardens we’ve seen quite well. Truly could be a thoughtful and quiet place for people. The buildings and facilities match in well. Good use of wood in the architecture. The only thing that put us off was the price. Did feel steep for adults. The area can feel quite small and constraining when a large number of people visit. Yes they try to manage a steady throughput but it has its busy areas.
Oakwood W — Google review
I absolutely love this garden. I recommend more for couples and families with teenagers instead of young kids. There is no play ground. I also recommend coming in the fall ( late October) for cooler weather and beautiful leaf color changes. If you bring in a tripod, you are charged extra at the ticket booth. There is a shuttle available to get up to the garden and pack to the parking lot. The small gift shop and cafe are definitely worth checking out in the gardens too
Christina D — Google review
The gardens are absolutely beautiful. Very well maintained and clean, including the restrooms. There are many photo ops all around the grounds with a fantastic view of Portland with Mt. Hood in the background. There are memberships available for single and multiple on line and at the window and gift shop. If you purchase from the gift shop your entry fee is refunded and it affords you entry for a year and a 20% discount in the gift shop. It's definitely worth the trip. My only issue was with the parking. Not great but there is a free shuttle that goes around.

Fantastic visit to this Japanese garden. Our first time visiting Oregon from the UK and thiz was high one our list of things to see - and it didnt disappoint. The planting, pathways and structures looked fantastic. It was busy but not overly so and everything was well maintained. Food in the cafe was great as well. Plenty of nearby car parking and short queues to enter.

This is such an amazing and magical place. We visited during the fall and were blessed with beautiful fall foliage. Be sure to get the earliest timed entry tickets and arrive 30 minutes before opening to ensure you get parking. The first 5 minutes is a slight incline, but the rest of the gardens are relatively flat. Go, you won’t be disappointed. Are,sure you get timed entry
Herb S — Google review
I’ve been visiting the Japanese Garden on and off for many years, usually when friends come to town. It used to feel peaceful and inspiring, but lately it’s gone downhill. I honestly don’t understand where all the budget goes. By my rough estimate, they’re probably making close to a million a month with around 30 employees — yet the sidewalks are dirty, cracked, and uneven, as you can see from the puddles everywhere. It really needs to be remodeled. The shuttle had a very unpleasant smell, which made the start of the visit even worse. The current “art exhibition” is strange — trees made out of what looks like garbage, taking up an entire building that could have been used for something meaningful, like showcasing samurai armor, traditional clothing, or Japanese crafts. They only have about 10 bonsai trees, which feels underwhelming for a place like this. The koi pond and the bonsai are really the only highlights. For the ticket price and reputation, this place feels extremely basic and poorly maintained. They should clean up the sidewalks, improve maintenance, add more bonsai trees, and maybe play traditional Japanese music near the entrance — it would really add to the atmosphere and restore the garden’s charm.

This amazing Landscaping achievement recreates the classical, contemplative nature experience of the historic Japanese gardens. It is a wonderful place to visit anytime of the year. Even when it is raining, the middle of winter, and the leaves have fallen from the deciduous trees, the Landscaping still invite you to pause in contemplation. In fact, in winter, and inclement weather, you may have this place mostly to yourself without the crowds of people to distract you. Even in the peak summer season, however, admissions, our time restricted, so it’s never overcrowded. Parking can be an issue at the popular times, and you should count for that.

Salt & Straw is an artisanal ice cream maker known for its quirky flavors and handmade waffle cones, drawing crowds to its parlors. The local chain has gained national recognition for its innovative approach to ice cream, offering unique flavors like turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes & gravy.
One of my go-to flavors here is the Pear & Blue Cheese—it's unique and always hits the spot. This time, I tried the Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge, which I really enjoyed. However, the Chocolate Caramel Corn with Candied Peanuts wasn’t for me—I should’ve sampled it first. Thankfully, they let you try as many flavors as you want before deciding. The staff is fantastic—super friendly and patient while people sample and make up their minds. We visited on a sunny day, which made the experience even better. There are spots to sit or stand both inside and out, and it’s a great place for people watching—some folks outside seemed to be there just for that! The only downside is parking—it can be tricky, and you might have to circle the block a few times. Still, we’ll definitely be back.

Salt & Straw is undoubtedly one of Portland’s most iconic ice cream shops, and for good reason. The ice cream is rich, creamy, and bursting with unique, seasonal flavors. The staff is always friendly, and they offer samples of their quirky flavors, which makes it fun to explore new combinations. I tried their honey lavender ice cream, and it was a perfect balance of floral sweetness and creamy texture. They also have dairy-free options, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. The atmosphere in the shop is charming, with a vintage-style interior and a cozy vibe. Salt & Straw is a must-visit if you’re in Portland, especially if you’re a fan of unusual flavor pairings. Whether you’re indulging in a scoop on a hot summer day or picking up a pint to take home, you won’t be disappointed by the quality and creativity of their ice cream.

Five Stars Isn’t Enough! Salt & Straw is hands-down the pinnacle of ice cream perfection in Oregon. Every visit feels like a gourmet adventure, and the creativity behind each flavor is unmatched. We’ve tried plenty of ice cream spots, but nothing comes close to this place. Our absolute flavor favorite? The Truffle Butter—rich, savory, and beautifully balanced. It blew our minds and instantly became our gold standard. Way better than the Duck Butter (which was still good!), but the Truffle Butter was on a whole other level. From the moment you walk in, the aroma, the welcoming vibe, and the sample-friendly staff make the experience unforgettable. Salt & Straw isn’t just an ice cream shop—it’s a flavor journey. If you’re in Oregon and don’t stop here, you’re seriously missing out!

Came in with some friends. They had patience of waiting for the long line but I did not. I just grabbed the pint of honey lavender flavor ice cream in their fridge then went straight to the cashier so I didnt have to wait in line. The ice cream was delicious and one of my favorite flavors, then 2nd would be blue cheese n pear flavor. The atmosphere was clean and the place smells like amazing vanilla scent because of the waffle cones they make there. One of my favorite ice cream places ❤️

Line is long but it moves super fast!! Staff was all super kind and efficient. Might be a little difficult to manage for the handicapped. Highly recommended paying a visit to see their unique flavors and vegan options!

I think this was literally the best ice cream I’ve had in my life. They offer a nice variety of flavors, including seasonal options that seem to rotate out. My favorite was the cinnamon snickerdoodle. All the staff was very kind, and there was plenty of sitting and standing tables inside.
Mackfrack — Google review
I liked that this store opened late and it had very unique flavours. The aesthetic of the place is also very different for an icecream store, but in a cool way! I like that they give you the option to try the flavours before purchasing, and that they have dog ice creams as well! I tried the blue cheese and pear icecream and it was super refreshing. Staff was nice, and the wait wasn’t too long.

Salt & Straw is hands down one of the best ice cream shops I’ve ever visited! The flavors are so creative and unique, yet everything tastes perfectly balanced and delicious. The staff is super friendly, patient, and happy to let you sample before choosing (which is a lifesaver with so many great options). The atmosphere feels welcoming and fun, making it a great spot to bring friends or family. If you’re an ice cream lover, this place is a must-visit—definitely a 5-star experience!

The auditorium's rich history includes notable speeches by presidents Dwight D.
Enjoyed Sailor Moon Super Live here. Tickets were reasonably priced for great spots! It is within walking distance from the main downtown area. Staff was very nice and the facility was clean. Only issue was the merchandise line was insanely long outside, but that could be a show issue.

Elvis Costello concert was awesome! All seats are great here. We were in the back on the orchestra level. Pretzels are really good. Food and drink is a bit pricey but what do you expect. They are a bit heavy handed on controlling anyone from taking video and you feel a bit bad even taking a few pictures. Otherwise, staff was friendly and helpful.

Murata Restaurant is a renowned Japanese dining spot located in Portland, Oregon. It offers an upscale setting with traditional decor and serves delectable sushi and sashimi. Known for its long-standing reputation as one of the best restaurants in the USA, Murata provides great value for Japanese cuisine downtown. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on busy days or if you prefer a private tatami room.
I had the ribeye, and I was really impressed. It was a good cut, cooked to a nice medium rare, and had great flavor and char. The miso soup also got the spot. Definitely will go back and try other options! The staff was friendly and the service was quick.

We had a small group and reserved tatami room. We all had a great experience. The service was great. Everyone we interacted with was awesome. The food was great! We had a few in our group that "didn't like raw fish" not really knowing. At the end of the evening they absolutely love sushi. We tried a lot of different things and it was a ton of fun.

We had lunch for two, both taking a $28 combo of a succulent, large steak, three sushi, three pieces of a roll and miso soup. We loved it! Parking at nearby garage is validated. Excellent value. What could be better? Service was a bit scattered, and servers appeared overwhelmed. Side salad featured a tasteless tomato and similarly tasteless iceberg lettuce.

THE totally authentic Japanese dishes, hands down! Sushi is REALLY good and they taste very authentic, I was shocked because I never even imagined I could eat this good Japanese dishes (especially sushi) anywhere outside of Japan. Murata is my family’s favorite restaurant for special events and celebrations. The tatami room has great Japanese atmosphere and the food is authentic. The service is great with hot towels and appetizers. The food came quickly after ordering. I especially love the items on the special menu. Murata has several special things that no other restaurants serve in Portland area. On the regular menu, my family’s favorites are salmon nigiri, chawanmushi (steamed egg) and the fried chicken nuggets. Reservation is highly recommended especially if you want the tatami rooms. The only complaint is the waiters generally have no smiles and always seem very busy.

The service was a bit slow. I sat in the chair for more than 30 minutes before someone came to speak to me and arrange my seating at the bar. I ordered from the dinner menu, and while it was good, the fish was much better than the beef. We also ordered some sushi—the portions were small, but the fish was fresh. Crowed environment, a little pricey for the food.

What a hidden gem! We enjoyed a fantastic evening here last week. Everything we ordered was very tasty. The portion sizes are perfect for sharing a variety of diverse dishes. The service was exceptional - food and drinks delivered quickly, attentive, good humored. Ambience is lovely - spacious layout and big beautiful windows. Highly recommend this experience, especially if you appreciate a great Indian-inspired menu clearly crafted with heart. We will definitely go back!

We just dined at Bhuna for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and flavorful and fresh but the service sold us. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a great conversation with Deepak, the owner. If we weren’t out of towners he would have made some new regulars out of us. I ordered the Pork Skewer during happy hour and it was tender and rich and so well balanced with its accompaniments. The curry bowl was beautiful and very filling. The meat portions were generous. If you’re in PDX and haven’t visited before, take a chance on this place. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I am a sucker for Indian food, and this was perfect. I tried some new things, and loved (or at least liked) all of it. My girlfriend and I got the vegetable pakoras as an appetizer and they were wonderfully crunchy. Then we got the (vegetarian) Thali for 2, which was perfect. I loved getting to try a little bit of everything. We also got a masala lemonade which I loved. She got a, but she doesn't like rum and so she didn't enjoy it that much. But the spice on the rim was good! The server was friendly, funny, and super helpful! He described what we got on our Thali for 2 plate and answered questions I had about some of the food I was unfamiliar with. The interior is minimalist and spacious, although the 2-person tables are a little small.

Our server was warm and friendly, he recommended the pork rib appetizer and I must say, it SHOULD be holding a title of some sort. Im from TX and I was very impressed, we love bbq. Everything else was tasty, but I honestly could return for the ribs alone. We got the Pork ribs, veggie pakora, lotus fries, kashmiri lamb, mango coconut lassi, and a glass of bubbles. The mango coconut is also a DO NOT MISS this item. So DELICIOUS. We will be back!
Kyle H — Google review
Visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening for dinner. At first glance, the menu made it clear this wasn’t a typical Indian restaurant. We decided to try the thali, thinking it would give us a chance to sample multiple curries. At $60, we assumed we were getting two individual thalis—one per person. To our surprise, it turned out to be a single plate meant to be shared between two. That was definitely disappointing, especially since we arrived hungry and expected a more substantial meal for that price. For context, most Indian restaurants typically serve a thali per person in the $12–15 range. The food itself was just okay. A couple of the curries were decent, while others didn’t quite hit the mark. That said, we still finished everything simply because we were starving. One positive was our host—Deepak, I believe—who was friendly and had a great sense of humor. I genuinely appreciated his service, though I regret not leaving a bigger tip because I left feeling like the value for money just wasn’t there. The ambiance was average, nothing special, and parking was a real hassle. Street parking was tough to find.

We are new in the area and went there for the first time. Atmosphere: lovely place, both from inside and the outside location. Nice interior, comfortable seating and easy to have conversation. Service: The staff was very friendly and checked on us and answered the questions in a warm welcoming way. Food: Many things to say about food. 1. We are vegetarians and the options are not bad. Not too many, but just enough. 2. The menu is not your typical Indian restaurant menu. The offerings are few but new, creative and still Indian tasting at heart. It was a great feeling to try something new and yet knowing you are getting something familiar. 3. We tried items across the whole menu. Snacks, sides, sliders, main entree, drinks and dessert. In terms of taste and presentation, everything was 4 or 5 out of 5. Only item that was a 3/5 was slider- it was a little bland and could use more flavor like tamarind sauce or something. Rest everything tasted really fresh, kinda new to the taste buds and delicious. 4. Special mention: really loved mango and coconut lassi. It's such a new flavor and very tasty. Portion size: The only thing which was unusual, was the portion size. It was not ridiculously small size, no. But it wasn't your usual portion size that one may be used to at other restaurants for the same price in general. Every item, like drink, naan, main entree bowl etc, they all seemed fashionably portioned. Not bad, but not generous by any means. All in all we loved this place and will definitely come back.

If you don’t eat here, I think you are making mistake. This place is awesome! I have always wanted to try and have heard such great things about it and literally cannot express how much I loved the food the atmosphere the staff and everything else that there is to love about dining out. My food was fantastic. The chef was so genuine and literally could not have been more gracious and more funny. I will definitely be making a return and if you don’t come here, you are making a huge mistake toodles XOXO.

Caribbean restaurant
If you're in the mood for a delightful culinary experience that won't break the bank, look no further than Love Belizean. Nestled near Portland State University, this charming counter-serve kitchen specializes in Caribbean comfort food, featuring mouthwatering stews and curries. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their achiote-rubbed chicken, roasted to perfection with tender meat and crispy skin that will leave you craving more.
Love Belizean is a delicious place for lunch on the PSU campus!! I highly recommend. Their rice is on another level, the service was really good, and their hot sauces are FIREEE. I ordered the single chicken, and the meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone.
Orion B — Google review
The place was phenomenal. I savored every bite and loved trying the sauces and pickled onions. I loved it so much I got a to go order to eat later while at work. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The rice that it came with was also packed with flavor. I definitely recommend getting beans on the side as well, they are cooked in an aromatic coconut curry.
Sewwandi M — Google review
Dining here was a real treat. The flavors were bold yet balanced, and you could tell that only fresh ingredients were used. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel like valued guests. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. This is the kind of place I’ll be recommending to all my friends.
Asana A — Google review
Great little hole in the wall! My husband and I went to Portland for one day and were looking for unusual delicious lunch. Well, we found it! He got the chicken, I got the beans and we were both thrilled! The hot sauces were yummy, the flavors were interesting and delicious! We will definitely be coming back!
Liz M — Google review
When you find a restaurant with one or two choices on the menu, you know they have something special. And they know it. What you get here is tender chicken falling off the bone, tasty rice and sauces, and a side salad. Several choices of hot sauce as well. Only knocking them for the atmosphere because it's a small place that feels a bit thrown together, but that shouldn't detract from the reason you'll go here: to have some excellent chicken and rice.
C G — Google review
This little gem is great! The chicken is super tender and spiced good enough to not need any of the array of hot sauces! Rice is good and meal comes with a salad. Sauces can get extremely hot so don't go overboard the first time out.. they recommend original and prickly pear which was just enough heat and flavor. Staff was very pleasant, customers were steady coming through the door and they were friendly with them all. Great food and I fully recommend giving them a try.

Bomb just come and get the chicken - falls off the bone, sauces are phenomenal and amazing staff. Best hidden secret since we’ve been in town & will warm your soul.

Everything was so delicious, I was sad when the meal was finished. They did a great job of pairing my friend and I with hot sauces that went with our preference. Loved everything about this place.

Chinese restaurant
Bing Mi is a popular food truck serving up Chinese crepes filled with a variety of savory ingredients. Originating from Northern China, these handheld crepes are filled with scrambled egg, crunchy wonton-style crackers, black bean paste, cilantro, chives, and pickled vegetables. Customers can customize their crepes by adding plum sauce for a sweet balance or opting for extra wonton crackers to enhance the texture.
Bing Mi is my favorite place in Portland. It’s so delicious, comforting, and fresh. They have excellent vegan options. I really can’t recommend them enough. I have people who insist on eating there first when they come to town and if anyone wants a food recommendation, Bing Mi is my first thought. It’s authentic the service is fantastic. I love Bing Mi so much and everyone should try them out ASAP.
Rachel Z — Google review
The jianbing is delicious and fun! Not too heavy but filling. Decent prices for what you get too. The duck is good, sausage is a bit too salty for my tastes.
Eliana S — Google review
Jianbing is always delicious. I've had the food cart and now I've had the restaurant. Both are absolutely amazing. The duck platter is really good, the duck isn't at all greasy and the sauce sends it over the top with the slivered cucumber for a bit of freshness.
Sean D — Google review
The food was really delicious. The bing was even better than I anticipated. But it’s honestly really expensive for what it is. The noodle portion was pretty small too. I would come more often if it were more affordable.
Tai L — Google review
I’ve been a huge fan of Bing Mi ever since I stumbled on their original location downtown. The jian bing never disappoints and is an amazing combination of flavors and textures- highly recommend the loaded bing with Chinese Sausage! Service is always prompt and friendly too!

Bing Mi has been my favorite place to eat since moving to Portland 8yrs ago. Every time someone comes to visit, I take them to try a Bing! But I have now tried everything on the menu and I love it all! Jacky is the nicest person you will ever meet and cares very deeply about quality and his customers. I cannot recommend enough! Lots of vegetarian options, too!

Great spot to have a cozy meal. The chili dumplings absolutely hit the spot and the noodles were great. The owner was unbelievably nice. Definitely a gem in the NW

The Loaded Spam bing was great! There was a great mix of soft and crunchy textures throughout the meal, the wonton cracker was key. Perfect size for a handheld walk around the area and snack. 10/10 would recommend.

Shopping
Located in Happy Valley, Oregon, Clackamas Town Center is a popular shopping destination with over 180 specialty stores offering trendy clothing, shoes, and gear for skate- and snowboarders. The mall features well-known brands such as Michael Kors, PINK Victoria's Secret, Clarks, H&M, Justice/Brothers, Barnes and Noble, and Disney Store. Additionally, it houses anchor stores like Nordstrom and Macy's Home Store.
Love Clackamas town center! There’s a new Poke restaurant downstairs and it’s so good! Definitely going to be my new favorite restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious! The restaurant was clean and the guys working were very kind. Because they’re a new restaurant they offered a free bowl of Miso with the Poke and it was perfect! Even though it’s super hot out the soup hit the spot! Portions were great and I ended up finishing my Poke at home. I got the spicy tuna and my friend had the spicy salmon. Can’t wait to go back!

Visited Clackamas Town Center today and I was impressed with how many stores it has and how clean it is. Security was visible and doing their job. Walked the entire mall and shopped in JCPenney and ate in food court. Sbarros doesn’t disappoint! Great variety of shops and things to do. Felt like how malls used to be back in the 80s/90s. Thanks for the great shopping experience and memories.

A Living Sanctuary of Connection and Commerce In a time when so much of life has shifted behind screens and into solitary ordering, Clackamas Town Center remains a vibrant, multi-type atmosphere—a place where human interaction, commerce, and beauty still meet in person. I’m deeply thankful for the shops that continue to thrive here, offering not just products but presence. Lush stands out with its high-quality offerings and sensory delight, while Macy’s and Torrid anchor the space with style, accessibility, and warmth. These stores are more than retail—they’re part of a living rhythm that invites us to show up, connect, and choose with intention. From the aluminum-glittered sidewalks that shimmer like ceremonial pathways to the koi fountain within—please, let’s stop tossing coins into their sacred waters—every detail feels thoughtfully placed. This center is not just built; it’s curated. It’s a place of life, of gathering, of shared breath. May we sustain it. May we honor it. May we continue to show up in person, choosing connection over convenience, and commerce that feels alive.
Tina L — Google review
Plenty of parking, clean well laid out. Macy's was a little confusing, two separate stores with apparently very few employees covering numerous departments. After exploring what we were looking for; headed to the expansive food court which was clean and well laid out, the only complaint was that the one visible hand sanitizer was out, with one person keeping tables and floors clean and a couple of security wandering in and out.
Rick S — Google review
Good clean mall, well-run. Security is always roaming and it's a nice air conditioned place to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping. There's a Popeyes and Panda Express. Panda Express is often busy, so it's much faster if you order through their app. The customers at this mall are very multicultural I've noticed. It tends to be busier on Friday and Saturdays. The movie theater there sells cheaper tickets before 5pm on the weekdays.

Oaks Amusement Park, established in 1905, is a family-friendly destination featuring a variety of attractions. The park boasts one of the oldest roller rinks in the country and offers activities such as mini-golf, classic carnival games, and an array of rides suitable for all ages. From the historic Carousel to bumper cars and a Ferris wheel, there are over 20 rides to enjoy.
My family had a fantastic time at this vintage amusement park, which opened in 1905. Grandpa (me) even tried a few thrill rides for the first time in many years—Tilt-A-Whirl and Scrambler and survived! The bumper cars were a blast as well. The grandkids, ages 11 and 8, were in Nirvana at the Oaks. It was an overcast day and it rained occasionally but we didn’t mind because lines were short. Highly recommended!
Jerrold F — Google review
Had a really fun day at the park yesterday with my kiddo and nieces. There was a nice variety of rides which even my short little two-year-old could enjoy. We went on a kids' day where adults are free and you pay for the kids' tickets and they just need an adult on some rides. The staff could use some training so they know how many spots they can fit. Lots of unnecessary delays because the staff were undertrained. Overall very fun. Kids had a blast which is all we could ask for.

8/16/25: so much has changed since I last came to Oaks Parks! 💫💫 Last time I came was about 5 years ago?! 😅😊 ❤️ No entrance fee, yay! (Glad this hasn't changed!🙏). The staffs are friendly 🩷 🎢 Cost for rides: depends on height and safety requirement, if accompanying child under 48" (4 feet), age (if senior, 62 years and older), you can add-on Roller Skate, etc. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth. 🚫💵 Payments are cashless (NO cash) 💳 👍 pay for parking--parking machines does not accept cash (Lots of parking machines near the entrance. Have your car license number ready!) 😋 Lots of food selections: Burgers, fries, pizza, chicken tenders and more! There's also lots of food carts! 🚙 parking is plenty by the Roller Rink area. Hard to find parking near the entrance. 🎠🎡🎢🚂 LOTS of things to do! Lots of rides! Lots of games to play! And lots of food to eat! 👾 lots of games and arcade games: you'll need to purchase tickets for certain games (tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth); and you'll need a game card for certain games (game card can be purchased near the games). 🩷 highly recommended for the whole family! Definitely would come back again! 🩷😊

First time visiting this amusement park and it's one of my favorite 😍! First amusement park I've been to that has no entrance fee and affordable parking only $4. The tickets price is great since it grants you access to pretty much all the rides. There's plenty entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Many food selections and they have special events as well...Halloween event this weekend! Most importantly I noticed that the staff double and triple check for safety on all the rides I was on. I would definitely visit again and recommend this park to others!

So awsome! The big roller coaster is so smooth and exciting but not painful like some can be. The smller Rollercoaster definitely not the same quality in build. We were surprised about the gocarts. Didn't even notice while planning so it was a perfect surprise. We got the unlimited bracelets with the rollerskating add on. I was very impressed with the rink. Just like the good old days! There is a looong practice area just outside the rink so people can get used to being on wheels. Not a fan of the bumper cars! It's called something else and you are supposed to everyone drive one direction. Like I need to go to an amusement park to experience grid lock traffic in what supposed to be bumper cars. Dumb lol. Over all so great. We will definitely be back
Marnie G — Google review
I was very impressed with the haunted houses. They had 3 of them, and they had a lot of characters running around very scary or very friendly. We went on a Sunday and there wasn't much of a wait. We were able to do all 3 haunted houses in an hour. There was one haunted house that had a lot of strobe lights at the end. So if that bothers you definitely be careful of that But it had a good amount of scare and darkness in each haunted house.
Michelle M — Google review
This is the only amusement park in the Portland area, and it's been a community mainstay for a very long time. There's a fairly decent amount of rides here, and there's a carnival or county fair feel to it. There is a roller coaster, vertical drop rides, bumper cars, go-karts, a roller staking rink, a large picnic area, and even a small train you can ride which goes around the park. There are games like you'd find at the midway at a fair, and food available at various places. Parking can be tough here, and it's pay to park so make sure to stop at the kiosk, get your parking pass and leave it visible in the car before heading into the park. They sometimes have fairs and festivals here, and usually there is an Oktoberfest held here picnic area.
James M — Google review
What a fun haunted house experience 👏 the characters were engaging and not overly predictable, and each haunt gave you a little something different. I'll be coming back next year for sure!!

Powell Butte Nature Park is a family-friendly natural area offering various outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The park features scenic vistas and stunning views from the extinct cinder cone volcano. It spans 611 acres of meadowland and forest, providing over 9 miles of trails for visitors to explore. The park is home to diverse wildlife including birds of prey, gray foxes, skunks, bats, and mule deer.
I just love that I live within walking distance of Powell Butte. I take my dog olive the staffy hiking up there almost every day. There's so many different trails to go on I've yet to go on the same exact route twice. When your up there it's hard to believe you are still in the middle of the city. It's a beautiful place to explore. I highly recommend it!

This is my favorite local hiking spot. It’s more of a nature walk than a true hike. It’s perfect for my pugs and it’s a bunch of loops that all connect into each other so you can’t get lost. Also there are small maps at different spots to help remind you of where to go. Don’t leave ANYTHING in your car though because I’ve seen a lot of broken glass but hey this is Portland we should all know better.

Fantastic find! What a great spot to get away from the feel of the city, in the city. I took the bus, google maps gave me a horrible route to walk into the park. Just get off at Powell and 162 and walk up right into the park. Lots of different trails. Great history displays. Beautiful views. I picked up a lot of other people's trash, so remember to Leave no trace..

Great nature park on an ancient volcano! Has a variety of trails, both in forest shade and open meadows. Many are hilly, but well designed. Lupine is blooming now. Mountain views from top. Lots of parking. Two restrooms. A visitor center at parking lot was not open on this day.

Hamburger restaurant
Little Big Burger is a delightful gem in the heart of Portland, known for its focus on quality and locally sourced ingredients. This charming eatery offers a mouthwatering selection of burgers, crispy fries, and refreshing floats that perfectly complement each meal. Since its inception in the Pearl District by Micah Camden and Katie Poppe in the 2010s, Little Big Burger has expanded beyond Oregon, delighting burger enthusiasts with its unique offerings.
This is my favorite burger spot in town; it’s nothing like your typical fast food chain! You get real, quality food every time. As a mom, I’m careful about where I take my son, and this is the one place I truly trust because everything is fresh and locally sourced. In a world full of junk, it means so much to have a place where I actually feel good about what we’re eating.
Suzy S — Google review
I came in for a quick lunch and left completely impressed. The burger was cooked perfectly with a soft toasted bun and a great balance of flavors. The truffle fries were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The staff was friendly and quick, and the whole place had a relaxed, welcoming vibe. This is the kind of spot you look forward to coming back to.
Hani Y — Google review
For the area, it was a lot more relaxed and laid back than I anticipated. The food is made to order so you don't get the cold fries situation like you do at some other places. The atmosphere was great and everybody who was there was very friendly. My food was excellent. The ketchup was a bit peculiar but aside from that everything was amazing
Ryan — Google review
Clean quick quality food. Little big burger is the perfect name. Fries are as amazing as the burgers. Atmosphere isn't anything special but it's really clean and quiet and the employees are great. 100% reccomend. I never leave reviews but the food alone earned a great one. I'll be coming back for sure and trying their other locations soon.
Patrick K — Google review
The size of the burger for the price definitely was not worth it in my opinion. If the flavor had been outstanding, I would have given a higher rating. But, it was just average in taste, small in size, and high in cost. Little(portions) Big(money) Burger(its what they serve)
Eric B — Google review
I ordered the Fancy burger and the flavor was excellent it was made to order and fast. The staff members were polite and attentive. I was the only one in the place so I couldn't say how the atmosphere was on a normal day. My issues with the experience were the price and size of the burger. It was $12.75 for a burger the size of a slider and a soda, no fries which for the price definitely should have been included. It wasn't a bad experience just expensive.
Darrel L — Google review
I’m sad that they closed the Little Big Burger in NW and the Pearl. This one is the closest to me but still out of the way. We came on a Sunday and they weren’t too busy, but there was only one guy manning the grill and cash register. We still didn’t have to wait long for our food. They accommodated my son’s no pickle and my “well done” for my burger (sorry, but previously medium was straight up raw). The fries are always the best part!!
Nichelle S — Google review
Food is always great BUT the s. Waterfront location is not a comfortable atmosphere. No greeting or acknowledgement upon arrival, hairnets not worn correctly, an employee propped up against the counter "napping" aaannnd the most obnoxious music played so loud i couldn't even talk to my husband or hear my personal headphones at their loudest.

Seafood restaurant
Jacqueline is a cozy restaurant that offers seasonal, seafood-centric New American cuisine in an intimate setting adorned with quirky artwork. The establishment hosts two unique date night experiences, including a daily dollar oyster happy hour for early birds and relaxed seafood dinner dates. The menu features dishes like hamachi crudo with charred pickled pineapple, seasonal salads with black sesame tahini, and rotating whole fish options such as fried branzino with salsa macha.
First time here and we loved it! Great deal with happy hour oysters and all the sauces were fun to try. Never had mussels on the half shell, smoked with great Thai flavors. The fish was cooked to perfection. Servers were so friendly and attentive. The open kitchen gave a real comfortable “home”vibe, especially with the art hanging on the walls. We are looking forward to coming back and trying other dishes.

Jacqueline's Seafood: A Culinary Splurge with a Fading Spark Jacqueline's Seafood in Portland has long been a go-to for incredibly delicious seafood, a true splurge that's been my chosen spot for birthday celebrations for a couple of years running. They've recently moved just a few blocks up the same street, and while the food remains a highlight, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings compared to the original, more intimate experience. Our first visit to Jacqueline's (at their old, smaller location) was superb in every way. The service was impeccable, and every staff member seemed genuinely to love their job. There was a visible camaraderie and willingness to help one another, regardless of their specific role, which truly elevated the dining experience. It was this vibrant, positive energy that drew me back. Unfortunately, our second visit to the new, larger, and more central location felt different. We waited about 15 minutes to even be greeted, and sure we were early for our reservation, at least acknowledge someone who walks in your establishment. But the hustle was apparent. The previously joyful faces of the staff seemed replaced by more somber or grumpy expressions. It was heartbreaking to see, as that genuine enthusiasm was a significant part of Jacqueline's original charm. While the new building maintains a similar aesthetic, its location in a more populated area undoubtedly brings more traffic, which I understand for business growth. Despite the shift in atmosphere, the food at Jacqueline's remains fantastic. The crab toast is still phenomenal, a must-try. Their menu is somewhat seasonal, but certain "heavy hitters" like the Tom Yum smoked mussels are utterly amazing – if I could only choose one dish, these would be it. Their salads are also delicious. Much stands out in my memory. Scallops, bass, etc. My husband was underwhelmed by their lobster roll. But, the plating is consistently beautiful, colorful, and highlights fresh, seasonal ingredients, making every dish a work of art. One area for improvement I'd suggest is their non-alcoholic drink selection. There aren't many choices, and adding some creative mocktails would be a welcome addition. Jacqueline's is still a destination for exceptional seafood, and I do hope to return with more family members in the future. However, for me, while the food's quality endures, the magic of that initial, cohesive, and joyful team spirit has unfortunately been lost in the move. It's a culinary treat, but I miss the full, vibrant experience the original location offered.

One of my new favorite spots in town! Best deal on happy hour oysters, just need to get there early to get a spot in line. Their sauces are fantastic. Their oyster shooters and tomato salad were amazing, and their lobster roll rivaled the best I’d had in Maine.
Sarah B — Google review
Fantastic restaurant in Clinton neighborhood in Portland Oregon. Their main push is the one dollar each oysters for happy hour. Since it is inexpensive, I didn’t have a big expectation for the oysters. I was wrong. The oysters are plump and milky, one of the best oysters in the recent years. They also give you 5 different vial of vinegar/sauce. They are distinct and all good. The dishes they serve are excellent. I would return here for many many times.
Eiko R — Google review
Excellent food and lovely service! Tasting menu was 100% worth it and a great value- Tons of food and the opportunity to sample more of the menu than ordering a la carte. Would recommend to anyone looking for a special event meal! Hope to be back!

I recently dined at Jacqueline’s in Portland, and it was fantastic. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made for a great experience, but the food truly stood out. Every dish was incredible the salmon roe was fresh and flavorful, the hamachi crudo was light and citrusy, and the lobster bun was indulgent. The mushroom lobster pasta was creamy and satisfying, while the rainbow trout was cooked perfectly. The drinks were also great, pairing beautifully with the meal. If you’re in Portland and craving delicious seafood in a relaxed setting, Jacqueline’s is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

I don’t even know where to start, this was an amazing dining experience. We stumbled across Jacqueline while visiting Portland and are now disappointed we live 200 miles away.
