The Koala Conservation Hospital Port Macquarie is a small rehabilitation center that offers tours to the public. Visitors can meet adorable koalas and learn about their care and preservation for free. The hospital also has a gift shop and offers a Feed, Walk, and Talk tour every afternoon at 3:00 pm.
I recommend going early when the koalas are still active and having their mealtime. It was heartwarming to see how the unwell or injured koalas were cared for. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the volunteers were doing an amazing job. During our visit, there were four joeys, and it was wonderful to see them all. Evans, an injured koala on a special diet, was a delight to watch as he enjoyed his meal. The educational section was also excellent, providing interesting koala facts and valuable knowledge.

The Koala Hospital is currently operating from Guulabaa on Burrawan Forest Drive while they redevelop the site in town. It is such a great facility and so wonderful to see the koalas up in their trees. Great picnic spot outside.

Such a wonderful experience! The family enjoyed it. Good to see we have hospitals for these beautiful animals. They even have a store with cute items to buy. They also have a heritage onsite with cafe with memorabilia. Highly recommended!
Frank B — Google review
What a wonderful place for rescued Koalas. When you visit in the morning when the Koalas get food they are awake. Since September 2024 the hospital needs to charge an entry fee because people weren’t donating enough. An adult pays 12,50$ to treat the sick Koalas. We loved the visit and only met very kind volunteers.
Jules S — Google review
An amazing experience! We gained fascinating insights into the organization’s work at the Koala Hospital. The dedicated volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. We were lucky to spot a few koalas, but it’s clear that the focus here is not on showcasing the animals for tourism but on their protection and care—huge respect for that! The hospital will be closing soon, but there is a koala breeding center on the other side of the city, run by the same organization. We were encouraged to visit for more valuable insights. I highly recommend a visit—thank you for your incredible work, and keep it up!

We visited the hospital with the family on a thursday morning. The best option is to go early, as they get food in between 8.30 and 9.00. They also get food in the evening. We didn’t book a tour guide but Maz was around and gave alot of information. We could ask all and any questions about the koalas and their way of life. It’s great to support the hospital as they so take care of them with care. Would recommend a visit!
Grace H — Google review
Such a beautiful place and a wonderful thing these guys are doing for our Koalas. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the koalas and learnt so much. My two boys had a great time
The H — Google review
Good initiative! There really wasn’t that much to do here though for those who have seen koalas before and been to other conservation parks. There were 5 koalas to see and a sign of how they were found. All up 10 min visit.

Located in the heart of Port Macquarie, Port City Bowling Club is a popular spot for locals and tourists to enjoy a good time. With ample lanes, plenty of food options, and friendly staff, it's no wonder this club is so popular. From weekly social hour to regular live music performances, there's always something happening at Port City Bowling Club!
The best steak in Port Macquarie. We both chose the eye fillet Mignon in their new restaurant & it was cooked to perfection with lovely side dishes included in the price. Service was great with a wonderful welcome from Perry. We will be back!

I’ve eaten in the Drift Restaurant on numerous occasions and always enjoyed it and the service has been great. Don’t know what happened yesterday but I decided to go round to the general bar area and order from their snack menu. Bar staff were helpful. Waited and waited for my food, drank 2 drinks and had to ask where my meal was. Was told there seemed to be a few issues today and they chased up my meal. It finally arrived. Unfortunately it was cold. Nachos isn’t great if it’s not hot but I was so hungry by now I didn’t take it back as I didn’t want someone spitting in it. A staff member came around and asked how the meal was and I told him it was cold and I was disappointed. I was offered some compensation in the form of a gift voucher which I’ll use next time I go. Maybe they were short staffed on a busy public holiday. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Afterwards I went upstairs to check out their new Beachfront Bar and Grill. It looks amazing but the prices aren’t cheap and I’m not liking the available pizza toppings either. Looks a fantastic place to eat but I’m not sure that I’ll be going very often; time will tell.
Geri H — Google review
Went there tonight for dinner. Firstly they booked me in the wrong restaurant. I left it as I couldn’t be bothered going upstairs to check if they had any tables available. Then I had to wait half an hour for my meal. Got my meal and the chicken was smothered in the sauce, and everyone knows what this means, and sure enough I took the sauce of the chicken and I am not joking the chicken looked like 2 day old chicken from Woolies, tasted like it too. So disappointed, had high hopes, it’s looks so nice from my hotel room. I asked for water and they told me I had to go get it from the bar. Well I guess I won’t be going there again. It’s terrible. And this was their special meal of the night for $33 😒 now I know why it was their “special meal” trying to get rid of old chicken
Mariz S — Google review
My family went to the Beach front bar and grill last night, it was our third visit (our last being May) the steaks were perfect and cocktails were great. Unfortunately in comparison to our first two visits the quality of the side dishes presentation/quality/execution has dropped significantly, it makes no sense why you would cut costs especially coming into peak tourist season, EVERYONE spoke so highly of this place and now we probably wouldn’t rush back (we will pay $$$ for quality) We also planned on getting desserts but nobody returned to the table to clear our stacked dirty plates and take further orders. I really hope coming into summer the place goes back to its original standards of quality and point of difference in what is a town that lacks quality dining options.

This was our first visit to Port City Bowling Club and we were very impressed with the size of the club and the facilities. We had dinner at the Beachfront Bar and Grill. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend eating at this restaurant. We can't wait to return when we visit Port Macquarie again next month.

Just love the food and customer service Love how it’s now table service also. It would be great if drinks could also be ordered at the table A larger range of higher quality wines

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the new upstairs restaurant, Beachfront Bar & Grill. Can I suggest you create a profile for this restaurant on TripAdvisor so you can expand your profile. It’s a shame when restaurants don’t get the patronage they deserve from lack of exposure. Thanks!

Beautiful food with a lovely atmosphere. The scallop entree looked like a work of art & tasted great and the quail was probably the best I have tried. For mains the tooth fish was a stand out and the mango cheese cake sweet being gluten free was also amazing.

They’re not enough start to rate this place. It’s sophistication, relaxation and perfection all rolled into one. From the moment you step in and are greeted by Tom your experience begins. It’s a hour try through food, wind and stories. We were blessed to have a quiet day where w could be given wonderful amount of attention, but I am sure that even on the busiest days you would be made to feel special by Tom. That’s just who he is. He knows his job and he makes your visit exceptional. The food surpassed every expectation and the win is everything and more Tom informed us it would be. If only I lived here and could visit all the time. I was grateful that I was able to have this experience with my cousins and look forward to bigger and better things next time I visit.

The food was excellent and the service staff were professional and very friendly. However, I would like to point out a safety concern. The restaurant’s main entrance is a glass sliding door. When we arrived, a staff member was at the entrance and the door was open, but when we left after dinner, the door had been closed. Because the glass is very clear and has no markings, it was difficult to see at night, and unfortunately my husband bumped his head on it. For the safety of other diners, I hope the restaurant can consider adding visible markings or making some improvements to the door.

Prepare for a treat! This was an unexpected but most welcome posh dining experience 3 course fixed price menu with plenty of choices for each course and a wonderful wine menu (+cocktails etc) The menu is interesting and everything we ate was delicious. Fresh king prawn, scallops, hints of umami yuzu and wasabi, texture and flavour balance and beautiful presentation Recommend if you appreciate fine dining and have the time to savour a long meal. Ideal within walking distance of Mantra Observatory hotel and others near Town Beach Reservations recommended and if you have dietary restrictions suggest speaking to the chef in advance

The Stunned Mullet Port Macquarie. Thursday 21st August 2025. 1 hatted A stunning restaurant in Port Macquarie. The food is sensational the service professional & friendly. If you’re in Port Macquarie THESTUNNEDMULLET is a must Cocktail - soft creamy delicious bit of a punch. Pineapple juice is just a perfect hint. Yummy. Wow now the Chambord is a super premium black raspberry liqueur is coming out. Delicious sweet (not over) fruity yummy. Wine list by the glass is amazing. I’ll have to come back to try more. Tonight just white. 2021 Lieu Dit Melon d Bourgogne grape. * So much depth of flavour again not over powering. Citrus herbal notes well balanced. 2019 Dm. Christophe- Montee de Tonnerre 1 er Cru Chardonnay. * Nose of minor yeast & light citrus. Mouth is very round with slight hint of nuttiness. Rich and long lasting. Wow just wow. 2014 Leeuwin Estate - Art Series * Nose light nutty yeast. Oh my goodness the taste. Light nutty peach oak on the back. Wow this is so good. Creamy with just hint of oak. Stunning wine lots years left. 2018 Tokaji - Royal Tokaji 5 Puttonyos Assi - PRODUCE OF HUNGARY * Nose of rasin with sweetness. Wow apricot sultanas giant fruit amazing depth beautiful drink. Fish - glacier 51 toothfish, shítake suimono, savoy cabbage, black rice wafer, daikon, enoki crisp * Tooth fish has become one of my favourite foods. This is heaven. Light buttery wonderful deliciousness. Cabbage almost citrus like - Daikon adds vinegar characteristics * Together as chef wants it’s a perfect balance just perfect humming flavour. Wow. Subtle sweetness from everything near the ends gives another amazing dimension just singing. Desert - passionfruit, white chocolate, ganache and caramelized pistachio our salty crème caramel, yuzu, rum * Pistachio cream is just amazing. The Ganache is light even fluffy. Passion fruit is subtle in the back not overwhelming. This is a delicious way to finish. Light dish of wonderful flavours all balanced. 10 minutes and lightly flavoured passion fruit comes back hints of nuttiness. Now that’s good food.

Beach
Flynns Beach is a serene and picturesque sandy beach located just a couple of kilometers south of Town Beach in Port Macquarie. It offers about 500 meters of golden sand nestled between two rugged headlands, providing a sheltered spot for sunbathing and swimming. The beach is popular among beginner surfers who can take lessons and then refuel at the surf life saving club's kiosk or the nearby Sandbox cafe, which offers stunning waterfront views.
We went to see the sunset hence weather a bit gloomy. The beach itself is clean, we’ve seen police patrol in the area. Great to walk to the coastline with family and friends.
Elmer S — Google review
A beautiful beach located very nicely and close to a few amenities, like some coffee shops, a wood-fired Pizza restaurant medical centre and lots of hotels, an apartment, the beach benches for setting it has a sandbox. It has a water bubbler, and people come for surfing here in the evenings. There are public toilets for men and women. There's an event party hall that's available for hiring, and it is part of the coastal walk.
Divesh — Google review
Again, don't tell anyone about this spot. We had fabulous walk along from Town Beach one morning in the seamist. Stop at the cafe at the surf club if you visit.

This is a beautiful beach in Port Macquarie. We visited this during our road trip stopover in Port Macquarie. The weather was very windy with light rain during that time. As such, it was a short visit but we still enjoyed the beautiful/scenic surrounds of this beach.

Blue Whale Asian Eatery in Port Macquarie is a hidden gem offering some of the best Asian takeaway options. Located on Flynn Street, this restaurant boasts an amazing menu featuring a variety of Asian dishes such as curries, noodles, and rice dishes. The annual whale migration from May to November is also a must-see attraction in the area. It's recommended to book ahead due to its popularity, but the attentive staff and reasonable prices make it well worth the visit.
Extremely popular Asian restaurant. Very flavorful food and good-sized servings. It's not the cheapest place to eat but the quality is very high. Eclectic decor throughout the restaurant, which gives is a good vibe. The staff are run off their feet whilst still very friendly and accommodating.
Ashleigh M — Google review
The food was great for a vegan diet, and the ambiance was amazing, making us wonder why we hadn’t visited before. However, our experience was ruined by the rude and judgmental behavior of the front staff, especially Sam. When I asked about the sauces in a dish, he was dismissive, and later, when my friend inquired about another dish, he rudely accused her of invading a customer’s privacy & miniature liquor corner. He also told her—behind my back—that I "don’t trust the food," which was completely unprofessional. When we addressed our concerns with the girl at the front desk, she was initially rude and dismissive, only listening after we confronted everything she calm down & listened to what we said but she didn’t say Sorry for all this. On the other side Sam kept coming from behind & walked away without helping her in this matter. Sam needs some realtime training and not judging people with their appearance & food preferences. Such behavior made an otherwise great experience disappointing, and I hope management takes this issue seriously.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was quite busy but I managed to get a table for one. ( Note to myself, book next time!). Ordered tempura vegetables as a starter, delicious! With chicken laksa as the main, again delicious with a glass of shiraz.

Great value for money. Delicious dumplings, delightful dim sims, succulent soft shell crab. Unassuming from the outside but definitely worth making a booking and having a meal here. The portion sizes are generous and are absolutely delicious. It’s great to go out for a meal somewhere that I can honestly say I couldn’t cook better at home. Can see why it’s so popular.

We stayed away from the hustling bustling of Port Mac, but this restaurant was worth driving to after a long day. The food was delicious, definitely recommend the Spicy Thai Fish. They also give you extra chillies 🌶️ if you like its spicy. They also specialise in mixed wild and aromatic jasmine rice. The service was very friendly and food delivery on time. Worth the price and quality.

We arrived at 5:30pm to collect a takeaway order. The restaurant was completely empty, but we were told we couldn’t wait inside for the order to be collected. It was freezing outside. I asked the wait staff, they said people can usually wait indoors as long to we have in the past and weren’t sure why we couldn’t. When the order was finally handed to me, I asked again why we had been made to wait outside. The gentleman denied it, saying I must be mistaken. I reminded him that I had even asked him to clarify at the time, but he simply told me I was being argumentative.. so I left feeling disappointed. Really unfortunate given how often we’ve supported this place in the past.. and how great the food is.

We visited The Blue Whale Asian Eatery for my wife’s birthday (which was on a Saturday night). We didn’t have a booking, and the staff explained they were fully booked, but they kindly offered us a table if we could clear it within 90 minutes, which was a fair compromise and much appreciated. The ambience is simple and unpretentious, nothing flashy, but the food more than makes up for it. Everything arrived quickly and tasted really delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, making the evening smooth and enjoyable. All up, a solid choice if you’re looking for tasty, no-fuss Asian cuisine in a relaxed setting.
Ryan F — Google review
Wonderful service from the wait staff. Beautiful interior and a great atmosphere. Only complaint was that we had to wait a little while for our food but given that it was a busy night with some very large groups of people, I can’t really complain - they served up some amazing food and the staff were busy working hard all night. Great that they accommodate for gluten free, I really appreciated that!

Enzo Woodfired is a pizzeria in Port Macquarie, NSW with fresh ingredients and traditional pizza pies. The wine is very reasonable and the location is perfect for enjoying a meal or drink. Emilio is very warm and seems to care about his customers' experience, making this a great place to visit.
I've eaten here 2 nights in a row.. Excellent pizza (understatement deluxe). Busy, and with good reason. Perfect base, yummy ingredients, top notch pizza, I'll definitely be back. Wait staff are friendly and attentive, all-round a great experience!

10/10 food and service! We had the arancini balls, portebello mushroom (sooo much flavour) and calamari to start between 3 people, plenty to go around. Pizzas were amazing! One of the nicest I’ve had.

Ordered four pizzas last night for pick-up (I'm sorry but I don't remember the names of them). Two were specials, one with chicken and one with scallops, and two were vegetable-based. We were very happy with the pizzas. Genuinely wood-fired, judging by the black edging 😁 Funnily, we ordered from here based on a recommendation from a stranger. I'm so glad I listened. Will definitely be going back again before we leave at the end of our vacation.

Scampis Seafood Bar and Grill is a charming, laid-back dining spot that boasts stunning views of Town Beach. This white-tablecloth restaurant specializes in fresh seafood, offering both dine-in and takeaway options. While the quality of meals has seen some fluctuations recently, guests can still enjoy an array of delightful dishes infused with Asian spices that create subtle yet captivating flavors.
Great location overlooking Town Beach. Started with a cocktail and sparkling wine followed by the King Fish Ceviche, Burnt Cod Skewers for entrées and the Barrimundi and Salmon with a side of charred cabbage for mains. Interesting fusion of Asian spices combined with Seafood to produce subtle flavour dishes. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive with a side of cheery humour. We had a great evening and was well priced for the style and service. Will visit again next time we are in Port.

The seafood is NOT FRESH! The oyster was the worst with funny smell. Fish was over flavoured to cover the original taste coz it was not fresh. We ordered a seafood platter, extra oyster and steak. The best food among these were the steak. 🙃 Cannot believe I paid fine dining price for this.

Absolutely top shelf service and food! Staff were attentive, friendly and very professional to service delivery. Specials were explained and actually sounded too good to miss so I took them... reasonably priced but for the service provided, they are actually under pricing. Food was beautifully presented - I watched other plates as well coming out - and fresh. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The place is no longer called Scampis, as it's a pop up restaurant by Stunned Mullet....The foods good, liked it a lot, especially the prawn entre dish...and the flour less chocolate desert was great... The service is very quick and met a fast working waiter with a nice approach... I went twice in one week, as I had to try the entre again and will be going back k again...

We had 3 smalls and steak and desert, absolutely delicious everything. Very satisfied!! My hb said he could eat the whole menu😁

The seafood platter was excellent. It came out in 2 courses. The hot one 1st followed by the cold. A wonderful home made seafood sauce accompanied this & was really tasty, not a hint of vinegar to make it bitter.

Food is always very good and service very friendly. Seafood chowder is a fave. I knew the chowder fills me up so I had the soft shell crab entree for my main. Hubby loved his burra. We should come more often.

Zebu Bar & Restaurant is a modern Australian waterfront establishment that offers a diverse experience. It features a brekkie cafe, a vibrant bar with DJs and cocktails, and an ideal location for dolphin and people watching on the Town Green overlooking the river. The restaurant provides families with a relaxing dining experience by the Hastings River while offering friends a contemporary and lively atmosphere at Zebu Bar & Grill.
We had our New Year's Eve dinner here and had a lovely time. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the place looked amazing with very comfortable chairs. This was our first time here, and it definitely won't be the last.

Limited menu, very fancy so not for your typical person. Also not for those who want a proper feed unless you are okay order a bunch of sides because each meal is like 1 ingredient. Each is very delicious though and I'm lucky I got this paid for by my work otherwise I would not come. Though I know this is the intention of fancy places.

Summary - not very good value, food or service. We went for a conference dinner at $90 a head - for this you would expect some good food and some wine on the table. We got one drink each and then had to purchase - which was not cheap. The food was not very good - overcooked and quite plain, with small serves. There were no sides or salads on the table. The service was poor - to the effect that the wait staff didn’t pay attention to how they served and provided those on our table with chicken for entree and chicken for a main - good if you like chicken. Dessert was poor too - they obviously didn’t have enough brownies and therefore smashed what they had into the base of bowls - so you had two small bits below some ice cream. Port Macquarie is expensive and this dining experience was poor too. My views were reiterated by 6 others I asked - so it wasn’t just me. 2 stars cause the food was prompt and the view was good.

Went for dinner with friends for my birthday. Had the chef’s special chorizo gnocchi and mushroom arancini and both were delicious. Atmosphere was beautiful and service was great. I was even gifted with a complimentary glass of wine.
Olivia M — Google review
We had dinner here recently. Atmosphere was nice but I did not feel it delivered on the expectation. The service was good but not really relational - the staff did not seem happy but just doing their duty. At one point a waiter came and said our meals were taking longer than expected and asked if we wanted garlic bread. We didn’t think it had taken that long but with the prospect of it taking longer we said yes to the bread. I did feel this was more a marketing ploy to sell more because we got the bread and the meals came almost straight after. The meals we had were pretty unremarkable. Nice, but nothing ‘restaurant special’. The fact I happily paid $45 for a steak and it came very small and not especially tasty was disappointing. Really felt we could have had better at home. So just three stars from me - I usually give 5 but just didn’t feel this was honest for this one.

Zebu Bar and Restaurant in Port Macquarie offers a dining experience that seamlessly marries culinary excellence with stunning waterfront views. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed with its vibrant ambiance, delectable cuisine, and impeccable service. The moment I stepped into Zebu, the modern and chic decor caught my eye. The restaurant's open layout and expansive windows provided unobstructed views of the picturesque Hastings River. The combination of sleek design and the soothing sight of water created a truly inviting atmosphere. The menu, a testament to creativity and quality, featured a diverse array of dishes that catered to a variety of tastes. From fresh seafood to sumptuous steaks, each plate was a masterpiece that celebrated local produce. The attention to flavors and presentation was evident in every bite. The standout moment was undoubtedly the seafood offerings. The freshness of the oysters and the succulence of the prawns were a testament to the restaurant's commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients. The fusion of international and local flavors was a delightful journey for the taste buds. Equally remarkable was the service. The staff's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were exceptional. They guided me through the options with enthusiasm, ensuring my preferences were met and any dietary concerns were addressed. What truly elevated my dining experience was the waterfront view. As the sun began to set, the golden hues danced on the river's surface, creating a tranquil and magical ambiance. It's a setting that transforms an ordinary meal into an extraordinary memory. Zebu Bar and Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it's a destination that captures the essence of Port Macquarie's coastal charm. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a romantic dinner, or simply seeking a memorable culinary experience, Zebu offers an exquisite blend of flavors, views, and hospitality. My visit to Zebu Bar and Restaurant was an exploration of taste and aesthetics. It's a place where impeccable cuisine and waterfront elegance converge, leaving a lasting impression that beckons me to return for another remarkable dining adventure.

On the last Saturday of January, we dined at Zebu to mark the end of our holiday. Evening started off as usual, greeted at reception. Ordered drinks (which were great) to start off, and the waitress took our orders for food after that. That's where things started to go downhill. Ordered entrees, mains, and a bottle of wine with table water. She didn't repeat the order as what we expected from past dining experiences all around to start off. Entrees came after a reasonable time (15ish mins). After finishing, the main course came after 25 or so mins. However, between finishing entrees and mains being served, the entree plates and some finished cocktail glasses were not taken away despite the staff being active in welcoming other guests and walking around, we felt a bit disregarded relative to other guests. Mains came, and only then did another staff member - who was stationed at the front the whole time - come with the main plates and then made the effort to take our starter plates and glasses. Mains were very good, no issues there. Throughout this, the wine originally ordered never came. After our plates from mains were taken, another waitress (who didn't take our order) asked if there was anything else needed, where then I brought up the wine issue and said for that to be cancelled. Our water throughout this whole evening was never topped up until the very end when I asked. Even then, my own empty glass wasn't filled, only my wife's. At the end of our time at Zebu, the initial ordering waitress came by, and I explained to her our experience so far. She said she'll inform her manager and soon after the gentleman from the front, who was the supervisor that evening, apologised and added a discount to our check. I explained to him as well what happened and being someone who's worked in the same industry for many years, and also knowing what the Rydges reputation in general is, being of a higher standard, I was extremely underwhelmed with the service. He was very nice and genuine during this interaction. I thanked the chefs at the end for their hard work but told them about the service issues, which they acknowledged. That ordering waitress never came around to top up our water, but did so for every other table (all but 1 table was occupied) as per our observations. Once I asked for the check, the waitress stopped pouring water. (At any bar or restaurant with alcohol, water must be available) The F&B director was also spotted speaking to the supervisor as we left. I had to take 2 glasses of water from the adjacent bar just to have something to drink after the first glass and cocktail. Finally, I told the restaurant to call me as my number was on the reservation records. No one called me until I, just before this post was written, called them myself after 1 week, where I was told that due to staff shortages that shift, they were undermanned, but the F&B director Patrick never apologised during the call, saying no one told him to give me a call. He cut the line at the end to add insult, I didn't feel he genuinely wanted to speak to me. Overall, there were fantastic food and drinks which were enjoyed, but very underwhelming service which soured the evening.

Cinnamon Beans shop is located in the shopping centre in Port Macquarie - NSW. It is in front of the supermarket and next to many other shops. I was the early and the first customer as I was attending at 7AM. I had a long black coffee & one piece of lemon cake. The coffee and the cake were very good. It was so nice and relaxing early in the morning before I went shopping on my day off. Harry, the manager of this shop, was very nice and friendly. The wheelchair can access this place. And there are many spots to park your car before you enter the shops. Let's go there to enjoy and to support the local small business everyone. Cheers.

Went to centre management. Waited for three ladies to acknowledge me as they were talking and preoccupied with their conversation. I ask if there was a wheel chair I could borrow for my aged father who felt unwell and could not walk, and was told that I had to go to a pharmacy and hire one. I felt unseen, dismissed and stressed. Nestled along the picturesque Hastings River, Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges offers a contemporary retreat just a short drive from the vibrant town center. This riverside hotel is designed to immerse guests in its stunning surroundings, featuring an open-plan foyer and large windows that invite natural light and breathtaking views. With amenities like an infinity pool, spa, fitness center, and tennis courts, relaxation is at your fingertips.
We stayed for one night on the way back to Sydney. Booked the Superior room and we were lucky to get the breathtaking water view looking at the marina. The room was quite away from the pool crowd. It was a perfect location less than 5 minutes drive to all the stores, e.g., Woolworths, petrol station, and local restaurants, which are within 5-10 minutes drive. It was relaxing to stay at the Sails Port Macquarie. The staff were friendly, and the room was immaculately clean! The best place to stay in Port Macquarie; we will definitely return to this hotel.

Thank you so much Kristy for everything I honestly can not thank you enough! AMAZING, AMAZING,AMAZING!

Attention to detail is overlooked. Firstly even if you are busy, reception should look up and acknowledge you are standing there, the rooms are nice but we had two simple requests and neither of which were met one was rectified on day two of our stay. The breakfast buffet oh my goodness, I think a lesson on how to cook bacon would be appropriate it’s not often the only thing left on people's plate is the bacon. It was so greasy and yet so dry, scrambled eggs would be so much better if they were not floury. My husband resorted to vegetation breakfast and he loves a big breakfast. Was such a shame.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, gifting us a surprise & delight for our stay with an upgrade and helping us when we had to leave early. They were incredible and very friendly. Unfortunately the rooms leave a little to be desired. The lobby bar music penetrates the room and can be heard until after 10pm at night, and neighbours can be heard from balconies and hallways even with doors closed which feels a bit interruptive. Paying hotel guests also have to pay additional $15 a day for parking which isn’t disclosed clearly at time of booking and really should be absorbed or added to the room fees for guest perception. Port Macquarie is mostly a driving destination after all.

We recently stayed at Sails Port Macquarie, and overall it was a lovely experience. The room (King + 2 Singles) accommodated our family of 4 comfortably and was relatively clean (apart from a dead cockroach above the doorway, which was a bit of a surprise). Otherwise, everything was tidy and well-kept. We stayed in a room by the pool, which was surprisngly quiet once the doors were closed. The direct gate access from our balcony to the pool was convenient, though it was shared with the neighbouring room, so not completely private. The pool and spa area is fantastic - we visited at the tail end of school holidays, so it was peaceful and at times we had the pool entirely to ourselves. Plenty of pool towels available too, which was great. The restaurant was okay. The buffet breakfast was the same each day, decent but not particularly memorable. The restaurant staff were polite, though service felt more functional than warm. For a destination-style resort, a touch more hospitality and friendliness would elevate the experience. Parking was easy, and for EV drivers, there are two chargers on-site. However, only one was working during our stay, and the other wouldn’t connect with our car, so we had to drive to the BP in Thrumster to charge (~10 mins away). Bonus mention: the resort’s many resident water dragons - they’re everywhere! Friendly enough and part of the charm. All in all, Sails is a beautiful and comfortable place to stay in Port Macquarie. It's close to some great beaches, an amazing sunset (visit the lighthouse), and some decent restaurants. A few small tweaks in service and attention to detail would easily make it a 5-star experience.

The Beach House is a popular coastal venue in Port Macquarie, known for its idyllic waterfront location and relaxed atmosphere. Additionally, it's also recognized for its morning coffee offerings, making it a convenient pit stop along the iconic Port Macquarie Breakwall walk.
Such a great Aussie pub. Beautiful architecture. A little pricey, we paid $17 for a ginger beer and a lemon lime and bitters. Very good menu selection and a lovely family vibe. Nice quiet tunes playing in background. We came on a Tuesday night was not at all full! Waitress aren’t the most friendly especially the younger ones but the table was wiped down on arrival.

We had dinner at The Beach House in Port Macquarie, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We were welcomed by lovely staff, and the location is perfect—right near the water with easy parking, which is always a win! The vibe was relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a meal. Now, the food—absolutely delicious! I had the Juniper Lamb (slow-cooked & packed with flavour), and Chris went for his go-to, the fish tacos—both were spot on. If you’re in Port Macquarie, The Beach House is definitely worth a visit. We’d go back in a heartbeat!

Has potential to be great, the view is lovely but lacked ambiance and friendly bar staff at the venue. The female attendant was wearing a scowling look when we asked if cocktails were $10…i don’t know what was so happy about a happy hour cocktail special where only three cocktails were $2 off the regular price @$18??!! Competitive prices are needed to bring in a decent crowd on a Friday night

It was ok. We ordered entree and mains, but they brought them all out at the same time resulting in a table with no space and our drinks on the ground, we then had a cold mains meal because it was cold by the time we ate our entree. One person on our table ordered the steak, it came in a bowl and when he was cutting his meat the bowel tipped into his lap... it was odd because another person ordered the salad and that came on a flat plate , which the steak should have come on. The food was ok.

Like others have mentioned. This place could be so much better. It is a comfortable and attractive place with a pleasant outlook with a reasonable range on both the food and drinks menu. But the table service is nonexistent (sticky table), you have to order either via a QR code or at the bar, not even water in the table, you have to get your own. The hot food came out quickly but nobody came to check on the meals or ask if we wanted additional drinks or dessert. The lamb shank was tasty but came just with roast potatoes, no vegetables and you can’t order them as a side. A few changes and this place could be truly memorable. Sadly it is subpar

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We keep coming back to Off The Hook because it’s simply the best fish and chips in Port Macquarie! The fish is always cooked to perfection with light, crispy batter and the tartare sauce is amazing. Consistently delicious, fresh, and great value — highly recommend!

Amazing food! This is our go-to fish and chip shop when visiting Port Macquarie. The chips are crunchy and we love that they also sell gravy. My son isn't a seafood fan so he had a schnitzel and gravy roll. The batter on the crab sticks is thin and delicious. We got takeaway one night and nighted in a week later. We found the meal deals great value for money.

Went here based on reviews. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it. We went just prior to closing on a saturday night (around 7pm, maybe it's different when you go there earlier in the day) and seemed to get all the leftover bits of calamari. Most disappointedly, the grilled fish was grilled in a toaster oven and tasted terrible. Good chips but overall not worth it..

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst fish and chips experiences I’ve had. The grilled fish was rubbery and lacked flavor, while the chips were overcooked. Overall, the meal tasted processed and far from fresh. Give it a miss. Better options out there (unless they pick up their game)

My disabled parents attended the Human Nature concert and faced serious accessibility issues. Staff refused early toilet access, the accessible toilet required an unannounced key, and box office staff made unnecessary requests despite seeing their mobility limitations. Wheelchair placement blocked aisles, and overall staff lacked empathy. They had travelled from Sydney and left feeling sad and mistreated.

Absolutely brilliant. If you're reading this you're in the right place. You don't need to search any further you've found the best in the area. Powerful, clean, safe and comfortable vessels with such knowledgeable staff they should be given Honorary PhD's in Marine Biology. My friend is disabled and walking on uneven surfaces can be an extra challenge, but no! Not with this attentive supportive crew. Absolutely no dramas at all. We've been on many of their adventures and have loved every one. CONGRATS Port Jet Cruises 🛳 👏🏻 - you've raised the bar on safe inclusive adventures.

We had an amazing time on the Wave Rider whale experience. It was a bit of a slow start with only a few whales at first, but near the end of the trip we got to see them jumping and playing—it was incredible! They even nearly doubled our time at sea so we could really enjoy it. The skipper was great for a laugh and helped make it an extremely memorable outing.

Went on a morning whale-watching cruise with some friends! The whales where playing hide & seek this particular day BUT our captain was persistent and dedicated to helping us have our whale experience! One lovely humpback whale gave us a wee show by popping up out of the water & even breaching briefly! It was a sight to behold, that's for sure ☺️ Make sure you arrive a half hour early so you can sign your waiver, get fitted with your life jacket & briefed on all the safety protocols/procedures etc. Be sure to wear waterproof clothing/shoes, sunscreen and bring sunglasses! (It can get quite bright/glarey out on the water! Ooh, and ocean water in the eyes can sting a bit...) Oh, and dress warmly- it does get cold out there! They do have waterproof poncho things on board which are very helpful when the seaspray tries to play "wet t-shirt competition" with you! A wonderful experience, nonetheless. Highly recommend ☺️👍

Had the most amazing day on a whale watch cruise. Saw a mother and calf which was pretty exciting then a pod of up to 250 dolphins. They gladly joined us and was magic. Then our spotter ( the legend) pointed out several groups of whales which appeared to be males attracted to a couple of playful females. We enjoyed watching them interacting all around us as some even played next to the boat. Such an amazing day and the crew were so informative and shared their passion with us.

The skipper was great. We saw whales. But why is this business supporting the anti renewable energy movement. Even Greenpeace has said there is no impact of windfarms on whales. So weird Update: so the business is really doubling down because of potential disturbance. This stance comes from fossil fuel industry lead misinformation and scare compaigns. They neglect to mention WWF, Greenpeace, NOAA are all supportive of windfarms. Here are some things that have actual known impacts on whales - climate change, boat strikes, fishing, entanglements and ... the whale watching industry. This is mentioned in a review because the business have their position on it very known

Fast food restaurant
Restaurant
Subway is a casual counter-serve chain for build-your-own sandwiches & salads, with health-conscious options. You can choose from a variety of meats, cheeses and veggies to make your own sandwich. The shop also offers delivery service.
Healthy food assembled by happy people to your preference. Quick (unless they are too popular at the time) - what more could you want when you are travelling?

i had a terrible experience here. I got a meatball sub with some sauce and the meatballs were burnt literally black to the point i couldnt finish the sandwich. The guy serving us got my order wrong and was rude and careless. He missed alot of the sauce off my sandwhich. And all the salads were so cross contaminated and they didnt care either.

Walked into this store about 9:45 am and had to yell out for service for about 5min as no one was there, then 2 young boys walked out god knows what they we doing on their mobile phones maybe. There was only 4 bread rolls on display and the salads were definitely not fresh would not recommend.

Husband ordered two subs, ham 6" and meatballs 12" to bring home for lunch. They mixed the order up so the 12" was ham and 6" meatballs. He asked for toasted and the lot. The subs were not toasted and only had lettuce (hard to find), carrot, tomato and cucumber on them and were not fresh. The service was poor. My husband told them they had the order wrong but he just raised his shoulder as if to say, so what. I was not happy with what he brought home I so tried to call them but the phone did not register, eg no ringing and then dropped out. Whatever you do, dont go there. The Subway off Lake Road takes pride in their product and service so give them a go.. I dont know who the owner is but they need to check out the staff's customer service as there is none

All staff super friendly tonight (5.30). Young guy serving was efficient & made me an awesome GF chicken salad. Lovely manner and switched on with options for celiacs. I haven't had much luck with GF takeaway options & usually feel like an imposition to staff, but a big thank you to all members of the Subway Ritz tonight.

If I could give zero stars I would. I placed an order for delivery via the subway app, only to realise they use door dash. I waited 1hour for the food that said it would take 20 mins only for it to arrive completely inedible, cold and soggy. I ordered toasted meatballs and the bread could not be lifted due to falling apart , the meatballs were freezing cold and the food completely inedible. Called for a refund to be told to call DoorDash which is who they get to deliver for only to not receive any more than 30% refund for an order that went in the bin. How DoorDash or subway are compliant with food safety standards is beyond me when your food arrives inedible and hot food has sat for 1 hour , do not order delivery from this company

Best staff experience in a subway I’ve experienced. The staff were extremely patient and helpful with my parents who had never visited subway prior

Service was ridiculous, I was next in line to be served and it looks like an order came in and the man serving said he wouldn't be a minute. 2 girls lined up behind me, he then called them over down to the till and proceeded to talk to them. He then came back and continued to make the sandwiches for the order. I said don't worry about it, it takes to long to be served and left. Staff needs improvement.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled along the picturesque waterfront of Port Macquarie, The Boathouse Bar & Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a vibrant atmosphere paired with stunning views. This trendy venue boasts eclectic decor and cozy lounges, making it an ideal spot to unwind with a refreshing cocktail or aromatic coffee while watching boats glide by. As the sun sets, you can savor delightful drinks like their signature Dirty Spiced Mojito on the deck, creating the perfect pre-dinner ambiance.
We came here for dinner and got starters and a main each. We also got a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The service was good overall and the wine was nice. The starters - fried squid and arancini were both delicious. The mains - fillets of Dory and the pasta salad (vegetarian) were also really good. Our waitress Delphine was lovely. The only thing I would say could have been better was the kitchen sent one starter out before the other. It would be better if dishes come together so we are not waiting for the other.

Of our four day road trip up and down the coast, this was the worst food by a mile. Waitress didn’t wipe down our table that had water all on it, we had to ask. The pumpkin and lentil pie I had was lukewarm at best, the salad was dry lettuce with a few beans on the side, my friends meal wasn’t much better. We were so tired we just wanted to eat and go to sleep or I would have complained but definitely would never be back!

Stopped in as we were staying a night at the hotel. We paid $180 for two steaks, a kids meal, some sourdough and a beer. The first $55 scotch fillet that came out was grey, overcooked (meant to be medium rare and it was well done) and was heavy on the gristle. It was served with a dozen undressed wilted roquette leaves and a ‘potato rosti’ which was inedible due to a strong eggy flavour and being cold in the middle. The sourdough was similar to a coles or Woolworths ‘sourdough’ and the end bit was half stale. The $59 eye fillet was undercooked, but was passable, again served with wilted roquette leaves and the rosti. We sent the scotch fillet back, the staff were quite accommodating and apologetic. We then sat for 20 minutes waiting for a replacement steak, by the time it came out even my 3 year old was finished eating. Again the steak was grey, very gristly and overcooked, somehow they found even more wilted roquette to serve with it this time, and it had the wrong sauce. All in all, very disappointing experience. For $55 for a scotch fillet it wasn’t even passable for an RSL buffet. Someone needs to buy the cook a meat thermometer and practice cooking some steaks as they obviously can’t cook steak to touch, and they need to work on presentation and purchasing some fresh garnish. Do not get sucked in to the convenience of eating here if you are staying at the hotel, overpriced, and sub par quality.

★★☆☆☆ Disappointing Overall, but Great Cocktails and Garlic Bread We were really looking forward to our meal at The Boathouse, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The fish tacos were quite hard and over-fried, which we couldn’t eat and the tortillas seemed dry or possibly stale. The ceviche also missed the mark — it felt more like a salad with raw seafood, tinned corn, and cold tomatoes rather than a proper, citrus-cured ceviche. That said, the garlic bread was tasty, and the cocktails were definitely the highlight of the meal. With such a lovely setting, we were hoping for a bit more consistency in the food quality.

We went last night for our wedding anniversary. My husband had the scotch fillet. It was perfectly cooked, tender and he loved it. Comes with a complimentary side of potato which is unusual these days. I had the wild mushroom risotto. The best risotto I have ever eaten. Loads of flavour, perfect texture and perfect portion size. We shared a cheesecake for dessert which was also delicious. Awesome and memorable dinner. Very good value for money.

Entering the hotel gave us confidence the food would be ok. After asking for a table/place to order food and consume it, we were not too sure.... The hostess was not too helpful and just asked us to find a spot out there. Most of the tables were dirty, stained with food, spilled drinks. The floor was sticky. There were dirty dishes around. Even though there were almost no customers, we struggled to find a table that would be clean. Ordering food was not easy. The staff was not sure if the kitchen can cook what we ordered. Fortunately, we received what we ordered in no time. Overall, a sub-par pub experience

So nice! Great spot to have dinner at, and from what we've seen, also perfect for wedding receptions! We had a really yummy dinner on our last day of holidays and weren't disappointed! Food was excellent 👌🏽👌🏽 I cannot remember the name of our waiter, sadly, as his service was exceptional and his suggestions great too.

We had a very good dinner here on Friday evening. The restaurant was almost full but they managed to fit us in. The view from the restaurant is pretty good as you overlook the marina. The food we had was quite outstanding. Very unexpectedly so. The salt n pepper squid was fantastic. 5/5 The pork cutlet was so good. Never bothered ordering pork cutlet before but so so glad I did as it was freakin awesome. 5/5 My wife had the steak which was a solid 5/5. Medium rare with a slight char. The jus was amazing. 5/5 My daughter’s kid’s burger was actually really good too. Large enough portion for an adult. Very good burger and good chips too. 4/5 My crème brûlée was ridiculously good. Wow. 5/5 Great staff and great food in a great place. Nicely done.

Asian restaurant
Mekong Thai Lao Restaurant is a waterfront dining spot in Port Macquarie, offering authentic Thai and Laos flavors. Customers have praised the delicious food, friendly staff, and beautiful location. The restaurant is known for its refreshing Asian cuisine made with local seafood and produce. While some mention higher prices and occasional service issues, others highly recommend the place for its great food and professional staff.
Fantastic flavour and very traditional. The meals were spot on. Restaurant is in an amazing location with fantastic views. Great beer and wine menu to match.

Dropped by Mekong Thai Lao Restaurant for lunch over the weekend and had a pretty good experience. I ordered just for myself—the portion size was reasonable, and the food tasted just fine, fresh and satisfying overall. What I liked was their menu; it’s extensive with a great variety of options, letting you try lots from both Lao and Thai cuisines. The staff was friendly and happy to accommodate dietary requirements, which is great if you have any special requests. Bathrooms are outside—you just need to ask staff for the key, which is handy. The real highlight was the waterfront view, which made the meal feel extra special. Plus, street parking is available, so getting there was really easy. Menu is a bit pricy though! Restaurant is closed on mondays and opens for lunch and dinner for most other days except tuesday, wednesday which are only for dinner.

The tom yum soup is delicious and intense. The coconut rice even by itself is so delicious! Partnered with their Penang curry was amazing! Also very friendly staff and beautiful view. We last came here 11 years ago and specifically came back just for the tom yum!

Beautiful open environment next to the water, perfect ambience for relaxing dinner. The pad Thai with chicken and fried rice were decent although on the sweeter end of the scale. Was not a huge fan of the soft shell crab entree. The staff were attentive and friendly. Price was on the higher end but should be expected for a waterside restaurant. Overall was a good experience and would try again!

Extremely impressive Thai food. Great staff with excellent service. Very helpful and hospitable. The soft shell crab is amazing. Super tender and well fried. They were not skimping on ingredients and each dish was loaded with good portions of seafood. Great glass noodle seafood salad. Will definitely come back

The restaurant is beside the water. Nice water views if you sit along the windows. We ordered an entry of soft shell crab, whole BBQ sniper fish and pork neck dishes. All tasted good, especially the soft shell crab and the sniper, so tasty

Situated on the waterfront at restaurant was busy and very popular. The drinks service was lacking in the night we visited. Appeared only one staff member was on drinks service while and array of other staff were walking around aimlessly. The meals lacked the punch and flavour would expect form Thai/Lao cuisine and a tad overpriced.

Seafood restaurant
Whalebone Wharf Seafood Restaurant is a modern dining spot located on the banks of the Hastings River in Port Macquarie. The restaurant offers a light-filled dining room with a deck overlooking the river, creating a breezy beach-house vibe with white, rattan, and blonde wood decor. The menu features classic seafood dishes like calamari, king prawns, cured hiramasa kingfish, and daily market fish prepared in various styles.
A brilliant location on the Hastings river lovely room& bar area.our seafood meals were Brilliant incredible flavours .The staff were friendly and professional nothing was a problem for them ! Wine and drinks also brilliant.Really highly recommend.
Dennis D — Google review
This is a charming spot by the water, perfect for those who enjoy a tranquil riverside setting. While we couldn’t secure a table right by the water, we still felt close to the serene beauty of the river. The atmosphere is excellent, though it can get a bit noisy when the restaurant is full—our little one certainly contributed to the lively ambiance! The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, understanding the challenges of dining with young kids. He thoughtfully prioritized our child’s meal, which we really appreciated. On the other hand, a large man in an apron—possibly the owner or manager—came across as a bit cold and brusque, which was a minor letdown. We had a brief interaction with him at the start. The only time I saw he smiled tiny bit while we were there was when he took order from a group of men. As for the food, it was good but didn’t quite meet the expectations for a restaurant of this caliber. The oysters were the standout dish—fresh and delicious. However, the scallops, though tasty, were disappointingly small, with one being about a quarter the size of what we’ve had elsewhere. The fish was well-cooked, but the seafood chowder leaned more toward a potato soup. The lettuce salad was a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable. I also ordered a margarita, which looked fantastic but was just average in taste—though great margaritas in Australia are rare outside of authentic Mexican establishments. Pricing is very reasonable (~$120 per head including drinks), especially given the beautiful views and overall atmosphere. Overall, we had a lovely experience and are glad we visited. While it’s not a place we’d rush back to, it’s worth a try for the view and ambiance.
Annie T — Google review
The food was okay but did not quite meet our expectations. The steak quality was a bit disappointing and might not be the best choice for medium cooking, especially for kids. However, the environment and vibe were excellent, and the service was very friendly and welcoming.
Billy C — Google review
The waitress service was top notch, but the food quality was subpar. I ordered a medium rare steak and it came well done one, tough and without any juice.
Luo C — Google review
We had lunch here with a reservation and arrived around 12:30 p.m. There were several empty tables with beautiful views, but the waitress led us to a different one. I politely explained that we had traveled all the way from Germany and hoped to enjoy our meal with a nice view — but she completely ignored my request and insisted, in a very unfriendly manner, that we sit where she directed. A simple explanation or a bit of understanding would have made all the difference. Kindness and empathy go a long way in hospitality, and unfortunately, that was missing in this moment. To be fair, the rest of the staff were very pleasant — exactly the kind of friendly, welcoming people we’ve come to appreciate in Australia. The food itself was excellent: every dish was flavorful, and the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked. Parking was also convenient, right in front of the restaurant. Still, that first interaction left a sour note and dampened what could have been a wonderful lunch experience.

Billabong Zoo Koala & Wildlife Park is a popular tourist spot that offers visitors the opportunity to view, feed, and interact with an array of native and exotic animals. The zoo also features playgrounds and picnic areas for families to enjoy. Despite not being a large zoo, visitors can easily spend roughly six hours there indulging in animal encounters - which are said to be brilliant.
Billabong is hands down my favourite wildlife park I’ve ever been to. The staff are all so friendly and the enclosures are amazing. You can get so up close and really see the animals who are all so well looked after and loved. We already cannot wait to come back.

Absolutely loved visiting Billabong! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well-kept. The animals spaces are thoughtfully designed, giving the animals plenty of space while still allowing visitors to enjoy an up-close view. The staff were friendly and incredibly informative, always happy to share their knowledge and answer any questions making the visit both fun and educational. Overall, a lovely place to spend the day, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates animals, conservation, and a truly well cared for environment.

We had a great day. Zoo Keeper Kristie was especially helpful in coaxing the Snow Leopard out after seeing us waiting patiently for him to come out. We did the Cheetah Feeding experience which was awesome. All of the animal info sessions were well run and informative. There were not a lot of people on our visit, so we didn’t have to jostle for a look or good position to take photos. All staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to the whole Billabong team for making our day memorable.

7.9.2025 This is an amazing facility; the enclosures are all spacious and the animals appear happy and content. There is a walking path around the park and write ups / QR codes for all the animals. The new additions with their pool are gorgeous and we got to see them swimming around on our trip. You can pay extra to encounter a koala or hold and python. Only down side was the hand sanitiser was empty upon exiting the kangaroo enclosure.

Our uber driver recommended this place as we were on our way to the koala hospital that’s near it. We are so thankful they did because we had one of the best experiences ever. It was a quiet day pretty much the zoo to ourselves but we had the best time. The animals seemed very well kept and the staff has so much passion for what they do. Feeding the kangaroos was an experience i’ll never forget. At the end of our day we met the owner Max and he was extremely kind and shared some amazing information. The whole family helps out and it’s just a great place all around. Thank you again to Max for everything!

Port Central is a vibrant shopping complex located in the heart of Port Macquarie, New South Wales. It offers a diverse range of brand-name stores, specialty boutiques, and various services. Visitors can explore everything from books and baked goods to shoes, jewelry, surfwear, and fashion. The mall also features a food court with plenty of dining options.
Easy parking and plenty of stores and heaps of food eateries. Just make sure you park in the building. It's the easiest entrance ever & it's free! Very close to the water If needing to walk off your lunch. Super clean and nice air conditioning on those hot days.

Port Central delivers a solid, no-fuss shopping experience with all the essentials under one roof. Big names like IGA, Target, Chemist Warehouse star in this convenient shopping hub, while specialty stores like Strandbags and Prouds add variety. The food court could use more exciting options (RIP Hungry Jacks), but the Cafe, Kebab and Sushi shops save the day. Parking is decent, though peak hours test your patience. Clean and in a great location....it gets the job done. Perfect for rainy-day errands or last-minute school uniform panic. It’s no Westfield, but it’s in Port.... 🛍️🌊

Facade is a mysterious escape room center that is perfect for ages tweens and up. The staff are amazing and the puzzles are unique and challenging. It was such a great experience and so much fun that I would recommend it to everyone!
I thought it would be a great idea to come to facade as a first date activity. I took someone I'd never met and she had never been to an escape room,. She fell in love with it. We will definitely return. We learned a lot about each others problem solving, logic, and praise and how we delt with obstacles. We didn't make it out, but we'll be back. Highly recommended for a fun time.

My husband, father-in-law and I did the Detectives Office escape room and we had a blast! It was the perfect beginner-intermediate experience to introduce our dad to the escape room world. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, the puzzles are interesting and the room was well styled and expansive. We'll be recommending this place to friends and family, and we'll be back!

I came with my family and we enjoyed the experience thourghly, even though we nearly didnt beat the time. The person taking us through, Wade, was extremely welcoming and made it a memorable experience for the family. And, the room itself let everyone in the family (age range 13-48) experience and help out with different puzzles. It was great for everyone!

We decided to do an escape room on a whim today, and what a great idea it was!! We had such a good time with the room and the post-escape experience was fantastic. Alex (our host) played into our goofy antics, and we ended up getting a leaderboard spot which resulted in a 15 minute colouring-in session to make our little timecards memorable. We always have a great time at facade and this visit was definitely no different 🔓🗝

We had a great time, our Game Master Angela really set the scene for us and was a great host. Today i took our Community Participation Group for the Detective's office and it blew my mind just how well they all worked together as a team. And how this was the best outing we have had so far.... and are keen to do it again but next time do the Sabotage room.

Chow Haus is a contemporary Asian fusion restaurant in beautiful Port Macquarie. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. The shop is stylish and well-stocked, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area.
Absolutely amazing burgers, friendly staff and couldn't ask for a more beautiful spot for lunch by the water. We tried the fried lasagna bites and they were exceptional too. Will definitely come back and would highly recommend the place!

We’ve been travelling up the east coast for a holiday, and this is by far the best café we’ve found! The service was amazing… even being kind enough to make us coffees on his day off while prepping for the week. The view was stunning, the atmosphere was perfect, and the food…. was PACKED with flavour both breakfast and lunch! You have to visit this place. They’ll take great care of you, and you’ll be so glad you went!

Amazing food, super friendly staff, great view. Couldn't really say enough good things. We will definitely be back

Fast and friendly service. We rocked up with 19 people and the staff had no problems organising tables for us. The Platter for 2 is extremely good value for money for $50. The kids sliders with chips and a drink were also very good. A good selection of beers makes this a must visit at Port Macquarie!

The burger meat at chow house were juicy, would of preferred crispier bacon since I asked for it. The bottom bun gets greasy, I was not sure if I enjoyed the top bun as it was not as soft. Not sure if I enjoyed the peanut butter burger was and it has shredded peanuts inside it although the chicken that was with it was cooked perfect.

Cafe
Restaurant
The Big Oyster & Seafood, also known as The Shuck Shack, is a must-visit spot in Port Macquarie. Housed in a humble blue boat shed extending over the Hastings River, this iconic establishment offers an array of mouthwatering seafood including oysters, lobster, bugs, crab and fish - both cooked and fresh. You can even order a bucket of prawns or a seafood platter to enjoy on the adjacent covered pontoon.
We hunt for good oysters when we travel through NSW every year. I have been the number one fan of oysters from the Sapphire Coast for years, but I think we have found a new number one (but only just). The quality of oysters obviously reflects on the water quality in the area. I would say oysters here are slightly larger than the Sapphire Coast, with a medium texture, and the creamy taste that Sydney Rocks are known for. Price per dozen (on the day) was $28 - shucked, super fresh, plump, and juicy.

From the looks of the front, you may drive past this little seafood shack. But don't, you'll be missing out on a great lunchtime experience. They have a small but nice range of fresh seafood for sale, but the real treat is out the back. Their fresh cooked seafood was wonderful, and sitting on the pontoon with fish and seabirds waiting for their share was a great way to relax for a while. Some reviews have stated that the prices were a bit high, and if you are comparing them with the local main street fish and chip shop, I would agree. However, just like any restaurant, you are paying for the ambience. Sitting on the water with a beautiful view, the wildlife and fresh air is a wonderful memory of our visit. The lady who served us was excellent, friendly, and helpful. If you ask, she will tell you what parts of your meal are suitable to feed the multitude of fish and seabirds, or if you ask really nicely she may even give you some scraps from the kitchen if available. I hope you enjoy it as much as my wife and I did.

Fresh, clean, delicious seafood basket -- oh how nice it was to see you and your assorted tastes of ocean goodness. What a charming waterside spot to have a memorable fried seafood lunch! The oysters, bugs, and crays looked wonderful as well, and I will surely be back for them one day!

Stopped by The Big Oyster and Seafood while passing through Port Macquarie, and it was a lovely little spot! The seafood was fresh and flavorful, and I really enjoyed the oysters. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made for a nice experience. Overall, a good place to grab some fresh seafood if you're in the area, but a little more value for money would have made it perfect!

Great place to relax and enjoy fresh seafood or cooked. Beautiful day just enjoying life at big oyster. Reasonable priced and everything was delicious and staff are nice. Thank you for a great experience and moment with my gorgeous partner.

I had the privilege of devouring the best value and freshest seafood feast at Port Macquarie. Thank you to the team at the Big Oyster for preparing amazing lobster mornay and fresh oysters. The fresh prawns were also divine. This place is a must stop-off for any Port Macquarie itinerary.
David L — Google review
The Big Oyster Seafood in NSW offers notably large, fresh oysters at a fair price per dozen. Their prawns are fresh, with an average price point. While the hot food, especially the chips, could improve and the seafood basket's fish size was slightly underwhelming, the customer service was genuinely welcoming. The floating seating area provides a cosy atmosphere, and feeding the pelicans with shrimp shells is entertaining.
Diego T — Google review
Best place in Port Macquarie to visit for your seafood fix at a reasonable price! You can dine in and take away as well. The food was fresh and tasty! We ordered the oysters, prawns, scallop and salt and pepper squid. They've got seating outside for about 30 people on the water, so that you can enjoy your food while getting some fresh air. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They've got seafood produce in the freezers to buy as well. Hit a like, if this review was helpful 👍

Bakery
Urban Grain Bakery, located in Port Macquarie, has been a local favorite for three years. The bakery is renowned for its delectable croissants and sourdough bread, all made in-house daily using organic and sustainable flours. Former Zumbo chefs create unique treats like lemon myrtle, caramel, and chocolate cronuts. While some customers praise the friendly staff and excellent coffee, others express disappointment over the early closing time and lack of freshly baked items later in the day.
What a happy find 😊 Had a delicious mocha (exceptionally good). All the baked goods looked great (spoilt for choice). Tried cheese stick, muffin (pictured) and cookie and all were wonderful. So be back!
Clared B — Google review
Great coffee and bakery products but you'll have to wait a while for service as both times a team member behind the counter went absent with no one evidently knowing where the backup was, it is quite slack of the team member to delay customers. The croissants are served fresh as both days the croissants did not flake off and we're oft to bite into, please ensure these are served fresh daily.

Delicious sausage rolls and danishes. Lots of interesting and unique danish flavours. The donuts were quite good too.
Lana S — Google review
Customer service was good. It wasn't as busy when we arrived and there wasn't much vibe/buzz to the place as it was located somewhere at a back of a shopping centre. There was so many things on the shop floor and looks a bit untidy, maybe they were closing when we arrived. There wasn't much option either considering to the other savory/dessert place I've seen. Although what we ate looks yummy & tasty - we got donuts, caramel cheesecake, almond croissant and frange tarts. Would we go back? Maybe, if there was more options and if there was tables (no tables at the time due to covid). Would be great if they had a shop near the water too 😉
Mark A — Google review
Food quality was great except for chocolate brownie. Customer service was ok. Overall i would go back for coffee and some fresh treats!
Tim C — Google review
Yum! Got the pork and fennel sausage roll, strawberry yuzu danish and a latte. All good, no faults.

For a quiet place at the back of a local shopping centre, the shop seemed popular with the staff calling the regulars by their name. We enjoyed our purchases as well.

Kebab shop
Kebab Masters is a budget-friendly eatery located on Horton Street that offers a variety of delicious and filling kebabs and burgers. Customers have praised the succulent chicken kebab plate, fresh ingredients, and generous salad portions. The doner kebab is particularly recommended for its affordability and satisfying portion size. Additionally, the mixed kebab with garlic sauce has been highlighted as a fantastic late-night choice.
Stumbling around for an inexpensive place for dinner whilst trying to avoid the likes of KFC etc, I found this place on Horton Street. Delicious, fresh, and affordable kebabs and burgers cooked fresh. In fact, my Doner Kebab was only $12.90, and it was incredibly filling!
Adrian P — Google review
Great little kebab shop located in the heart of Port Macquarie offering a variety of kebabs, pides, snack packs, gozleme and cold beverages, Services was prompt and friendly, plenty of shared centre indoor and out door seating, Kebab was fresh tasty and well made, only draw back was the gozleme was dry and lacking taste. perhaps due to being pre-made in the warmer, otherwise a good experience. Would recommend
Ritchie W — Google review
For $18.50, it's one of the stingiest kebabs we've ever had. Tasty, but hardly any meat on it, and not filling at all. Won't be returning.
Alana D — Google review
The mixed kebab with garlic sauce was a fantastic late night decision and I have no regrets. The chips were also very tasty. Bonus points for arriving so fresh 👌
Shane O — Google review
The chicken inside snack pack was like they didn't do the cleaning of meat 😫. The chicken was like it had some sticky liquid like fat. Totally disappointed 😞
Mohammad K — Google review
Having been raised on western Sydney kebabs it's tough to find a decent kebab shop these days where it doesn't cost you $20 for a kebab. This place is the place in Port if you want a genuine good feed. The staff are helpful and polite as well as they actually care about serving good food and taking care of their customers. I'll be returning every week for a kebab guaranteed.
Nathan C — Google review
Ordered 2 slice pizza & medium chips. Pizza was flattened in sandwich press and chips over salted. Very disappointing 😞

Pros: Tasty Chicken Kebab plate. The items were fresh, juicy and yummy. Fast service. Staffs are good. Seating outside keeps the place buzy. Overall a good place for filling food. Cons: Nothing

Mexican restaurant
Lively counter-serve chain serving traditional tacos & burritos, plus Mexican beer.
Did you know Guzman y Gomez – Port Macquarie does catering? We recently had the pleasure of ordering catering for our One Agency Wauchope sales team meeting, and it was fantastic! They delivered a generous spread of fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious burritos – perfectly packed and very filling. It gave us the energy we needed before heading out to property photo shoots and appraisals. A special shoutout to Calais, who handled the delivery – she was right on time, incredibly friendly, and a delight to deal with. A huge thank you to the entire Guzman y Gomez – Port Macquarie team from all of us at One Agency Real Estate, Wauchope/Port Macquarie! If you’re looking for catering for your next office meeting, team lunch, or event – we highly recommend GYG!

Tried the Cali Burrito at Guzman y Gomez, Port Macquarie. The food was okay but not exceptional—flavors felt a bit bland compared to expectations. Service was decent, and the ambiance was good for dining in. An average experience overall, could be better.

We were there for our trip and ordered gyg burrito bowls for my family. Crispy corn was good and the other thing there quantity was amazing and taste was good for bowls. Service was little slow but food was delicious.

Food is fantastic but the drive thru waiting time is deplorable. Currently typing this in line at the drive thru, haven’t progressed past the speaker box for about 15 minutes now. I come here for dinner most nights after work and it’s always like this, despite how it seems like they have 15 or so staff on at dinner time. Doesn’t make sense but at least the foods good

First time ever at GYG, drive yhru for a ceasar bowl... Get a bean bowl... I got IBS dude. So when it kicks in I am glad you are 24hrs. Cause some Tacobel type load will be returned. How can you mess up a ceasar salad with a bean bowl. Basic. And it wasn't even busy.

I ordered a veggie bowl in that one i got pieces of pork When I complained they said its a turkey mushroom they give me very wrong and it’s against to my religion

Called in for a rest with the family. We ordered off the breakfast menu. I had the big burrito. Absolutely delicious. Food was fresh and filling. The service was quick and the young girl was friendly. Store was clean and well presented.

I usually love Guzman but don’t think i will be returning to this one. Last time we went I made a drive through order that was over $70 for my family and when I got home there was a burrito missing. This time we ordered chicken burrito’s and the chicken is both burnt and stone cold 😔 I’m not usually one to leave a bad review but the quality of this place is getting seriously bad

This popular café is located on the water's edge of Hastings River and offers beautiful river views over breakfast or lunch. They are open seven days a week and are known for their unfussy cooking that combines fresh ingredients with simple flavours.
Service was wonderful, staff were friendly and helpful. Despite the long line up and the number of people there, our coffees and wine came out very quickly and the coffee was spectacular! We ordered the grilled summer fruit and Halloumi salad from the specials board, and the sirloin. Both were delicious and the meat was perfectly cooked, so tender I could use my butter knife to cut it! Just devine!!

Amazing service especially by Maureen, such a lovely and helpful lady. Food was delicious and super tasty. The only let down was how cold it was in the outside seated area. Very breezy and cold. Blankets were a nice touch but heating would make the experience so much better.

Such a high level of care and customer service, staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Food came out so quickly, and all of our food was so fresh and delicious. Very impressed by the haloumi salad that I scoffed and scraped the bowl of! Thank you for such a lovely experience in such a beautiful location.
