The Koala Conservation Hospital Port Macquarie is a small rehabilitation center that offers tours to the public. Visitors can meet adorable koalas and learn about their care and preservation for free. The hospital also has a gift shop and offers a Feed, Walk, and Talk tour every afternoon at 3:00 pm.
I recommend going early when the koalas are still active and having their mealtime. It was heartwarming to see how the unwell or injured koalas were cared for. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the volunteers were doing an amazing job. During our visit, there were four joeys, and it was wonderful to see them all. Evans, an injured koala on a special diet, was a delight to watch as he enjoyed his meal. The educational section was also excellent, providing interesting koala facts and valuable knowledge.
P.L.I. W — Google review
The Koala Hospital is currently operating from Guulabaa on Burrawan Forest Drive while they redevelop the site in town. It is such a great facility and so wonderful to see the koalas up in their trees. Great picnic spot outside.
Debbie A — Google review
Such a wonderful experience! The family enjoyed it. Good to see we have hospitals for these beautiful animals. They even have a store with cute items to buy. They also have a heritage onsite with cafe with memorabilia. Highly recommended!
Frank B — Google review
What a wonderful place for rescued Koalas. When you visit in the morning when the Koalas get food they are awake. Since September 2024 the hospital needs to charge an entry fee because people weren’t donating enough. An adult pays 12,50$ to treat the sick Koalas. We loved the visit and only met very kind volunteers.
Jules S — Google review
An amazing experience! We gained fascinating insights into the organization’s work at the Koala Hospital. The dedicated volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. We were lucky to spot a few koalas, but it’s clear that the focus here is not on showcasing the animals for tourism but on their protection and care—huge respect for that! The hospital will be closing soon, but there is a koala breeding center on the other side of the city, run by the same organization. We were encouraged to visit for more valuable insights. I highly recommend a visit—thank you for your incredible work, and keep it up!
Brian M — Google review
We visited the hospital with the family on a thursday morning. The best option is to go early, as they get food in between 8.30 and 9.00. They also get food in the evening. We didn’t book a tour guide but Maz was around and gave alot of information. We could ask all and any questions about the koalas and their way of life. It’s great to support the hospital as they so take care of them with care. Would recommend a visit!
Grace H — Google review
Such a beautiful place and a wonderful thing these guys are doing for our Koalas. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the koalas and learnt so much. My two boys had a great time
The H — Google review
Good initiative! There really wasn’t that much to do here though for those who have seen koalas before and been to other conservation parks. There were 5 koalas to see and a sign of how they were found. All up 10 min visit.

Sea Acres Rainforest Centre is a waterfront park that offers an elevated rainforest walkway, guided tours, and a cafe. It also features other attractions such as the Bush-Tucker tour with a small entry fee. Additionally, visitors can enjoy activities like golf, indoor bowling, swimming, cycling, and running on a triathlon course in the surrounding area. For water sports enthusiasts, there's the option to water-ski or jet-ski at Stoney Park Watersports and Recreation Centre.
I recently went on a rainforest walking trip and it was absolutely breathtaking. The forest impresses with its sheer power and ancient beauty — you can truly feel the timeless energy of nature all around you. The walking trail itself was stunning, winding through lush greenery and showcasing so many fascinating plants along the way. The atmosphere was incredible: peaceful, majestic, and full of life. It’s an unforgettable experience that reconnects you with the raw beauty of the natural world. Highly recommend!
Ekaterina B — Google review
a breathtaking coastal gem. The elevated boardwalk immerses you in lush greenery and diverse wildlife, offering a peaceful, educational experience. Perfect for families, nature lovers, and photographers, it’s a serene escape that highlights Australia’s unique rainforest beauty.
Sejal S — Google review
Beautiful rainforest walk, very well designed and about a bit more than 1 km long. We didn’t see many animals, but the nature and atmosphere made it a lovely experience. After the walk, we stopped at the café which was excellent – great food and drinks! We had a cappuccino and bacon with eggs, both super tasty and freshly made. Definitely worth a visit for a peaceful walk and a relaxing coffee break
Marco S — Google review
Lovely staff, all super friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend to spend some time at the bar and immerse yourself while grabbing a bite/drink. There are several tour options, although you can also purchase the boardwalk alone. In July there are some aboriginal tours going on - photo enclosed. They also sell plants if you want to bring a vivid memory back home and grow it fondly 🌱 Recommended!

Place itself was great. Cute gift-shop, a lot of things to choose from. We saw a few families really enjoying their time there, so perfect with kids. Since we have traveled a lot, it’s not a must see view. Good, but not a must see place.
Viktoria P — Google review
Fantastic Rainforest tree walk on a walkway through the forest with interesting information along the way about the various trees and plants and their uses. We were lucky enough to see a goanna. Great information centre and souvenirs, Cafe was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.
John C — Google review
We visited Sea Acres Rainforest centre and did the board walk today and it was magical! We were told at reception where we would see a Powerful Owl, and then spotted it perched on a tree branch which was amazing to see, definitely would not have seen this if we weren’t for the help! The walk is beautiful at every point and the trees were breathtaking! We also met Graham, who is a volunteer at the centre, and asked us if we had any questions about the place, we asked about the fig trees and he had all the facts, we learnt so much! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable so special thanks to Graham! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Nice quiet board walk to be enjoyed whilst taking in the vast rainforest. We were lucky to see an Owl chick. Friendly and helpful staff.

Tacking Point Lighthouse, a charming white cement structure with a keeper's cottage, was constructed in 1879 on a rugged headland. The area offers various activities such as dolphin watching, visiting the Koala Hospital, exploring hidden rock pools and rainforest boardwalks, and admiring the tallest waterfall in NSW.
This lookout offers absolutely stunning views! If you’re anywhere near the area, you can’t miss it. It’s the perfect spot to take in the landscape, snap a few photos, and just enjoy the moment. Great place to stop and take a break – totally worth it!

Second light house on my visit to Australia. Port Macquarie is a nice place with several areas to go and see the sites as well as sit and relax. This one was easy to find parking and casual stroll about. It is winter in Australia at this time so it can be a bit cool and breezy so keep that in mind if visiting (although during the day while the sun is out, it's not that bad)
Gaagle P — Google review
We stopped here 2yrs ago and the upgrades they have made are A+! The elevated board walk is magic, the extra seating is a great addition and the anchored binoculars are a wonderful idea (they could have been a little taller and there could have been a set on every observation deck). Beautifully restored and maintained. We got to see some whales in the distance and the binoculars definitely helped!
Bernice M — Google review
Such a lovely view of the sea. From the top of the cliff, this small light house section gives you a panoramic view of the sea. Both sides of the sea stretching across kilometres. A must visit point to sometime in the area !
Mohit M — Google review
Whether you drive straight to Tacking Point Lighthouse or take the 3 hour coastal walk from Port Macquarie, the views here are stunning. The lighthouse is automated these days with LED lights though that does not take away from the nostalgia and history. There are many placards that detail the history and sights. During certain times of the year, you can see whales migrating up and down the coast. If you want to can walk down to lighthouse beach or have a picnic on the grounds.
Soniqbuoy — Google review
Fantastic views from the top where the light house is situated with the ocean braking over the rock formations, the beach is awesome Getting to the top of the Lighthouse requires climbing some steps. There is some car parking at the top and bottom of the Lighthouse. Well worth a visit
John C — Google review
Super views and great hike along the coast. The beach looked very inviting if that is on your card.

Had such wonderful experience at tacking point! First time there and we will definitely be going back, so peaceful, I just wish we saw some whales or dolphins but maybe next time

The Port Macquarie Coastal Walk is a 9.1 km scenic trail that starts at Westport Park and takes you through Town Green, the breakwater, Town Beach, Flagstaff Hill, and Tacking Point Lighthouse. The walk offers stunning views of the coastline and historical sites such as Nobbys Beach and Harrys lookout. You can also join guided tours or explore galleries and art studios along the way.
Nice to walk before sunset. All the rock paintings along the walkway, and also water birds. If lucky, you might see some fish jump out of the water.
Zhijia L — Google review
The most wonderful scenic coastal walk because basically you don’t have to go out onto a street at all for the entire walk. Just make sure you pick low tide as there are a couple of spots that would be covered in water if you picked the wrong time. The views are wonderful. The tracks are well marked And the views that you get when you reach the Lighthouse are brilliant. Approximately 9km one way. A variety of steps and inclines and scrambling over rocks so unfortunately if you have a disability it could be rather awkward or if you are of a very low fitness level. I absolutely loved the walk.
Elizabeth A — Google review
Beautiful area to walk, did some of the beach walks as well, loved it.
Hayley K — Google review
This is such a stunning walk that takes in some great views along the coastline. Part of the walk includes the colourful rock murals along the water.
Donald E — Google review
One of my favourite walks ever. If you start at the lighthouse, you can finish with a coffee in town at the end. If you start in town, you’ve got the beautiful beach walk near the lighthouse for the end.
Georgia D — Google review
Full of Natural Beauty and stunning coastal walk. Port Macquarie offers you a range of stunning views and beautiful scenery and you may be able to enjoy the delicious foods while you plan your visit. The place is good for couple of days stay where you can find some great historical sites and also best place for the sea food lovers .
Subas S — Google review
While visiting Australia to see relatives, we took a walk along the coast. Several painted rocks along the walk to add to the views.
Gaagle P — Google review
I did the first part of the coastal walk this morning, the part that meanders along the Hastings River. This part of the walk is flat and right in the middle of town, so very popular with walkers, dogs and cyclists and therefore on a nice day can be quite busy. But with good reason! A great way to get your morning steps in!

5Town Beach

Beach
Town Beach, located within walking distance from the town center of Port Macquarie, is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. This 600m arc stretches from the southern breakwall of the Hastings River mouth to Flagstaff Lookout and is surrounded by a park where families picnic, teenagers skateboard, and yoga enthusiasts gather for free group classes on weekends. The breakwall also attracts surfers and bodyboarders with its great swell.
The Guardians: The scene is dominated by a stand of tall, straight Norfolk Island Pines (Araucaria heterophylla). The two pines framing the foreground are particularly striking—their silhouettes are almost skeletal against the sky, while the smaller ones in the background offer a fuller, tiered canopy. These trees are the defining visual feature, imparting a sense of tropical grandeur and verticality. The Landscape: Below, the park is meticulously maintained, featuring a rich, vibrant green lawn contrasted by a clean, light-colored pathway. The combination of the deep green grass and the soaring pines creates a wonderfully calm and expansive feeling. The Amenities: The beauty here is also found in its function as a community space. A covered picnic or BBQ area sits centrally, inviting relaxation and gathering. It's a place perfectly designed for a family day out, where the harsh sun is tamed by the shade of the pines and the sky is a painterly mix of soft grey and hints of blue. In short, it's a beautiful intersection of wild natural form (the towering trees) and thoughtful public design (the lawn and amenities), all under a lovely, diffused light. Given that this scene is very characteristic of towns along the New South Wales coast (like Port Macquarie, where it appears I am located now, or Manly), would you like me to use my location knowledge to suggest what specific local coastal feature might be visible in the distance?
Koonthos K — Google review
Great beach and is patrolled. There are lots of parking with great views. The only thing about this beach is there are hidden rocks in the water which hurts when you are on it.
Tyler S — Google review
The views are lovely from the beach or from one of the lookouts set on a higher ground. It's a nice spot for a short walk on the beach and meditation. Surfers seemed to enjoy the waves.
Ljiljana V — Google review
amazing place to visit. Quiet but truely incredible views. great for Surfing & family beach fun. Enjoyed a lot.
READY F — Google review
Parked in the centre and funnily enough crossed a camping to walk along the water to see all the lovely painted boulders. Surfers were out. A must see if you are in port macquaire.
Yasmine S — Google review
One of the best beaches I've ever been too. It has everything from surf to walking tracks to the breakwall to picnic areas. Even at night Town Beach is amazing. It's right in the heart of Port. Take walks from Town Beach to either Town Green or Flynns Beach you won't be disappointed.
BulldogsAndDolphins — Google review
Sunsets on this area has never been a failure, sometimes yes, it wont comeout but went it does, its spectacular. There's really not much place to do in port but if you like nature. You'll find this place a nice spot for a walk waiting for sunset or coming up to see how the sun rises.
Allen P — Google review
Stunning Port Macquarie beach with lots of car parking, lifesavers and coffee nearby! It’s also close to the skate park as well to keep the kids amused!!! In terms of the beach, it can be a little rough so make sure you swim between the flags!!’

Roto House Historic Site, located in the Macquarie Nature Reserve, is an 11-room weatherboard house built in 1890 for land surveyor John Flynn. It stands as one of the few remaining 19th-century buildings in Port Macquarie and offers a glimpse into affluent early life in the area. The well-preserved late Victorian Georgian home is surrounded by picturesque bushland and features local red mahogany construction, a picket fence, and veranda.
Historic local home of Flynn family. Interesting place and detailed display of family history . Also has a nice little coffee shop.

The Manning Entertainment Centre is a fantastic venue! Comfortable seating, great acoustics, and excellent lighting make every performance enjoyable. The staff and volunteers are warm, welcoming, and professional, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Visitors can take camel rides along the beach or visit the local Koala Hospital for a free tour to learn about the care of sick and injured koalas. Nature enthusiasts can explore Boorganna Nature Reserve and its steep track leading to Rawson Falls for a secluded waterfall swim.

Lighthouse Beach: Where the Coast Whispers Stories Just seven kilometres south of Port Macquarie lies Lighthouse Beach— a sweeping ribbon of golden sand stretching nine kilometres to Lake Cathie, where the ocean dances with the shore in an endless rhythm of salt and breeze. Beloved by surfers, this beach thrives on the energy of the sea, catching every swell, offering short, powerful rides for those who know the waves well. Sheltered from the summer’s north-easterly winds, it’s a playground for seasoned boards and spirited hearts. But this place is more than surf. It invites you to wander—barefoot and unhurried— on long sunlit walks where time drifts like foam on the tide. Or saddle up for a camel safari, cast a line into the surf, or roll gently along the sand at the southern end with 4WD access. During school holidays, the northern tip—near the surf club and café— is watched over by lifeguards, so families can play in peace under the watchful eye of the red and yellow. Above it all stands the historic Tacking Point Lighthouse, built in 1879, the final jewel in the coastal crown that is the scenic walk. From its viewing platform, the coastline unfolds like a painted scroll— and from May to November, you might spot whales carving silver trails across the deep. And south of Watonga Rocks, the beach becomes a joyful haven for your four-legged companions— a stretch of sand where leashes are unneeded and tails chase the wind. Just keep an eye on the signs, and let freedom run beside you.

Very clean nice beach worth the visit. We spent some time here during our road trip stopover in Port Macquarie. The weather wasn't the best during that time but we still had a good time.

This is a beautiful walk if you park at lighthouse surf Club & they have a wonderful little cafe that opens I think till 1:00 p.m. Toilets and showers with plenty of car parking. It's a patrolled Beach and you don't seem to be crowded whatsoever. Beautiful sunsets looking down to Bonnie Hills. Well worth fuelling up at the cafe and then taking that nice big walk for a few kilometres up and back. Btw, if you sit On the chairs overlooking the beach you might get lucky to see a few whales. Definitely not uncommon to see so many, especially off lighthouse Headland itself.

Packed in like sardines- glad we weren’t there when it was full. Glad we were there an only a quick nightly stop over. Shower/toilets clean. Very open to anyone as there aren’t fences along the break wall. Lock everything up. Nice and close to town. Unfortunately for us, it wasn’t our ideal park.
Melinda G — Google review
We stayed in the Caravan Park, which is very large and was well supported, as there park was very full. The sites are of generous proportions, although the roads are narrow, in places. The amenities were clean and modern and easily coped with the high volume of campers. We will come back again.
Bruce H — Google review
This was, without question, the single worst pool experience imaginable — a true disaster zone masquerading as a swimming facility. The chlorine smell was so intense it felt like standing in a vat of chemicals; my eyes were stinging, my throat was raw, and I could practically taste bleach in the air. The water was cloudy and filthy, filled with floating hair, plasters, and other unidentifiable objects that made it look more like a swamp than a pool. The pool area itself was appalling. The tiles were slimy and treacherously slippery, the air was thick and humid with a sour, moldy stench, and the walls and ceiling were stained with what looked like years of neglect. I honestly thought parts of the ceiling might collapse. The changing rooms were disgusting too — puddles of murky water across the floor, showers that reeked of rot, and an overall feeling that the entire place was breeding bacteria by the second. Noise levels were unbearable, with machinery clanging constantly over the deafening echo of screams. The pool area was scattered with trash, soggy towels, and even insects crawling near the benches. At one point, I thought I saw something moving in the water that definitely wasn’t human. The only redeeming quality was the kindness of the staff, who remained patient and welcoming despite clearly working in conditions that could only be described as hazardous. Their friendliness was commendable, but it did nothing to disguise the reality: this facility should be condemned, not open to the public.

Had a perfect stay in Studio cabin 3. Fully decked out with kitchenette, small seating area, verandah with outdoor setting, soft towels and spotless in every way. Staff at booking and check in were great fun ( they were actual people ) and made my stay enjoyable. Yes I’d go back.

Stayed at the powered site for 2 nights, the park is in a great location but it is very packed and tight! Amenities are ok, but barely any pressure in shower and water variates temperature as your showering! Gutters are ridiculous, put some grates over them, I'm sure you make enough money to do that. Along with the bins being far away, at least have some near the BBQ. And why is there only 1 camp kitchen? It's a very large holiday park and feel that it is ridiculous to expect campers to walk so far with supplies to make a meal! Also I was near the sewage dump point and the smell was disgusting. In future I would much prefer to stay at another holiday park that isn't so commercial.

Stayed in a cabin for 3 nights, cabin was clean with a comfy bed, the bathroom was a little small but was still find for our needs. Park has good facilities and is close enough to town to walk. Overall a great stay.

Great cabins to staying virtually new great king bed, loverly shower. Booked one night then went back another night. Price went up by $10 from 150 to 160. About an hour later got a text with an offer for the date of the extra night for $30 less. But was told at reception that they could not give us the discount. Also told me if a person come and were to wait it probably won't come along. So to me the offer is a waist of time Was told that a lady took the offer given here but missed out because somebody else booked before they accepted the offer.Very disappointing and quite frustrating. Without that mayhem our visit would have been totally wonderful.

Fun & Games
Livvi’s Place Playground in Port Macquarie is a unique and inclusive play area suitable for all ages and abilities. Recently renovated after being damaged by floods, the playground offers a variety of activities including swings, slides, and sensory walls. It's located next to an open field, making it perfect for family fun. The beautiful decking under the trees provides a great view of the river and boats while offering parents shade from the sun.
Livvi’s playground has recently undergone a facelift to rectify the damage done the previous year during the floods in Port Macquarie. It’s really a park for small children of all abilities and not for older kids who would need larger or more exciting things to do. A new water park has been developed by the council in close proximity but not within the fences of Livvi’s playground. They are two separate places. The kids won’t get wet if playing in the playground but will if they go to the waterpark next door. Both venues are excellent for what they are.

Great little park for the kids. The water park was great. Only down side was that the gates needed fixing and could do with more seating and bbq areas.

Hands down the loveliest playground in Port. Beautiful decking under a tree for parents out of the harsh sun. Great view of the river/water/boats. Make up your lies about what time the carnival opens next door before you get there, because guaranteed your little ones will see a Ferris wheel and demand to come back when the carnival opens. I tell my kids it's only for adults or that everything there is broken.

A big space with little to poor interactive equipment. Very boring play area for all ages. No drinking water fountain in the gated area. It gets very hot and there’s no shade over the play equipment as it’s all in the sun! Nothing really for the kids to play on except for swings, small slide and a merry-go-round. Broken equipment **may have been water play zone in the past and other broken things all rusty. A whole lot of space with nothing in it!! Needs major upgrades for it to be attractive for littlies and bigger kids. Very disappointing and would not bother visiting. The view of the water is the only nice part about it.

Great playground, lots of variety and improved accessibility options over other local parks. I wish there was a sign or something so families understood what schedule the water play features were on.

Gorgeous little garden with trails & bridges & a tiny waterfall. Makes for a fun little adventure rather than sticking to walking on the road if you are walking from Town Beach to the CBD. It isn't a huge area & provides a short walk with 2 trails, through a lovingly tended garden which always brightens my day.

St Thomas' Anglican Church is a significant historical landmark in Port Macquarie, built by convicts in 1824. The church features a small pipe organ, a stained glass window, and a red carpeted spiral staircase leading up the tower, offering stunning views of the area. Visitors can enjoy an informative tour guided by knowledgeable staff to learn about the rich history of this beautiful site.
I'm not religious but this church has a big connection to my family's past. Our first convict of 8 johnathan webster with 50 other convicts built this church. Johnathan webster was also married in the church in 1838 And their daughter was baptised in church also in 1842. Its a lovely old church ⛪️ we must look after our history. I highly recommend you attend this church for a tour or just walk around and see the history 🙏

The park features two circuits, one 2.3 km long and the other 1.3 km long, which can be combined for a longer walk. This nature haven boasts winding boardwalks and trails that provide an immersive experience of Australian flora and fauna.
Great to see places like this in cities. Nature parks with info etc on how important it is to protect these natural spaces. Playgrounds, picnic areas, walk through the mangroves. See some flying foxes up close.

Parked next to the cemetery side of the park and walked into the mangroves. The walking path is a board walk through the park and there are tens of thousands of these creature and these creatures are massive !!! There also is an area where you can sit by the water and it is very relaxing. Remember to wear but repellent as there are lots of mosquitos ready to pounce on their next human prey. Didn’t see any koalas as they as pretty hard to see.
Vu N — Google review
The park, cemetery and boardwalk are lovely. Pity it’s been over run by homeless people leaving their belongings everywhere, drinking and hollering at anyone the walks nearby. Not a nice place to feel safe.
Shayne C — Google review
Lovely short walk around the woods, with a view of the sleeping flying foxes across the water. Path is raised, boarded and accessible for prams / wheelchairs. There is also a decent green space to sit on when the weather is good. Unfortunately the park seems to have become a place for the homeless to make camp so that certainly complicates things as there are some more approaching characters

Wonderful place to visit..I went to that place with my two kids..we enjoyed it a lot..we can see water, birds sometimes in a residential area, sometimes I see some roads...I wonder how a forest will be like that... peace and pleasant. Thousands of bata and a few birds...lovely place to spend a few hours... Maintenance is not good to complete full round...one bridge is broken still...
Nareshkumar R — Google review
The park doesn't look like much, but once you get to the boardwalk it is incredible what you can see. Plenty of information about the trees and the hundreds of flying foxes. The plants are beautiful and everything looks well maintained. Apparently there are crabs, but I didn't see any. But in the end I saw hundreds of flying foxes resting in the trees. Totally worth checking out.

There’s a few different walking tracks. The big one makes you feel like you’re in the absolute middle of no where when in reality just metres from Gordon Street. It’s amazing how real and natural this park is. If you love walking in controlled nature this is the place to go. If you do the full walk from the cemetery you will end up on Gordon St where you cross the road for the walkway to Westport.

Cafe
Cafe 66 is a beloved Italian restaurant in the area, known for its breakfast and traditional Italian dishes. The owner, Phil, has upheld his family's Italian legacy and has been sharing it with locals for many years. The restaurant offers a famous Tuesday night 2-for-1 pasta deal that draws in crowds. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner most days of the week, Cafe 66 is a popular spot among residents.
Hubby and I came here twice during our stay in Port Mac. We had big breakfast for breakki and then came back for pasta as lunch. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing. We were not very hungry so we only ordered one pasta to share. Surprisingly, the chef split the pasta into two plates for us. It is so lovely and we feel so welcomed. Thank you so much! What a shame that we live 6 hours away in Brisbane, would love to come back regularly otherwise.

Genuinely the best Carbonara I’ve ever had! The service is is top notch and the food is just incredible, they really know what they’re doing! I can completely understand why it’s so often booked out as their cuisine exceeds the quality of most Italian places in large cities. Next chance I get I’ll definitely be back.
Corey O — Google review
Had great expectations for this restaurant but unfortunately that wasnt our experience. We happened to book in on a Thursday night which is pasta night (where every second pasta dish ordered is $10). The place was very busy so we didn't think much of it when our food wasn't served quickly. However, I then realised that tables who ordered much later than us had their entrees, then their mains, at which point, we had neither. I asked the waitress about this, to which her response is that they are very busy, so I said that i understood that but it didn't explain why other tables after us received their food first. Anyhow, she said she would check. But no one came back for another 15 mins, so I hailed down another waitress to ask a similar question. She must've passed on the message, because the original waitress then reappeared... Not with an explanation or update, but to retake our orders. From scratch. Without a single word of apology. This was about an hour in sitting at the table with only our drinks. We eventually received our food. Still no apologies. Food was decent and tasty. But by then we were a bit over it unfortunately. The table next to us (who arrived later than us but finished two courses before we even received any of our food) said to us, as they left, that we should ask for compensation. But since we still ate the food, we didn't make a fuss. We suspected that the waitress didn't even dare to tell the manager or owner about what happened. The final blow came at the check out when the totals didn't add up. We queried it and it turns out they omitted to charge two of the pastas at the special $10. On pasta night when it was busy?! They fixed the error but again, no apologies or anything whatsoever. We may have just been unlucky, but if you visit on pasta night, be prepared to wait, and perhaps pay attention to the bill!
Michelle K — Google review
DO NOT COME HERE IF BUSY!,Came to this restaurant after seeing it on google, words cannot describe this place. We made a reservation for 6.30 and were seated by 6.20. Thus far everything was normal, we ordered food and sat there waiting, however after 20min the food had not arrived and after 30min tables who ordered their food after us started to recieve theirs. Seeing this we asked the waiter who took our order if she knew what was happening with our food. She told us she'd check with the kitchen. 30min later we hadn't seen the waiter again and so asked one of her colleagues the same question. 10min later the waiter who took our order came up and asked for our order again, as if we had just been seated and not already been waiting for an hour. When the food finally arrived all hope of salvaging a bad experience dissapeared, the spagehtti bolognese was incredibly watery and the rest of the pasta was nothing worth noting. As we paid the bill the same lady who took our original order served us, and over charged us by $35, upon further inquiry she seemed confident she had not made a mistake only to discover she had not applied the Pasta Night deal that the entire restaurant of customers was using (incredibly full upstairs and downstairs). After all of this commotion, there were no apologies made. 3 hours of my life I will never get back

Hidden Gem @ Marina is a charming Italian-inspired restaurant highly praised by visitors. It offers a diverse selection of Italian dishes in the picturesque region of Port Macquarie-Hastings, New South Wales. The atmosphere is delightful, especially during sunset over the marina. Guests can enjoy delicious authentic Italian cuisine and impeccable service from the friendly staff, including Stella and Georgia. The owners, Amrik and Appi, ensure that guests are always satisfied with their meals and service.
We had a great dinner at Hidden Gem on Saturday night. The food was delicious. We had a cheesy garlic bread for entree. Then for main course I had the Chicken HG and my husband had the Polo penne Boscaiola and both were yum. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was quite full so there was a nice vibe and we could still hear our friends across the table. I imagine in summer when the windows and doors are thrown open and the view over the marina is more visible it will be a beautiful place for lunch or dinner. We will be back.
Karen F — Google review
Food quality was similar to a ready-made meal; the pizza tasted like the pre-made frozen type, the prawns lacked freshness, and some of the pear in the salad was rotten. Overall, it was a subpar dining experience that I do not recommend.
Ben J — Google review
Cant say that the pizza is far above Domino’s, gnocchi was drowned in cheap oil? Great location, a bit hesitant to walk in as there was a gentleman polishing cutlery with his back filling up the entrance. Staff was under trained, we had to ask for menus, side plates fresh water etc…. Would not come back.
K S — Google review
The pizza was not tasty at all, a pizza frozen from coles or woolie would taste better . Meatballs were not delicious either, just too heavy with souse. Overall not a good experience and unfortunately not recommending.
Megan N — Google review
This gem should remain hidden. The gnocchi came out raw with solid pumpkin that was virtually frozen, swimming in oil, along with this the pizza we received was also swimming in oil with an undercooked base from the supermarket. For the quality of food received it was extremely overpriced and very disappointing. After eating one slice of undercooked pizza and raw gnocchi the friend who I was with got food poisoning for the next 5 days. Never have I been so disappointed in a restaurant before. Stay away at all costs

Drink waiter not professional in the way he delivered drinks. He stretched across table to give guests their drinks instead of walking around to deliver each guests drinks. He made the incorrect cocktail to what was ordered. Young female waitress who took food order was lovely. Food was tasty but my garlic prawn dish was way too expensive for the 4 prawns I got. Overall, was nice but expensive but won't be back in a hurry.

Loved the courthouse - so wonderful to hear how the community saved it from demolition and restored it to its former glory. The volunteers were lovely and were able to tell us all about the wonderful history of the courthouse - even the story about how once - when the new courthouse was flooded - the magistrate moved the court back to the old courthouse for a few days! Oxley Beach, located just south of Town Beach in Port Macquarie, is a serene and secluded spot with a rocky shoreline and picturesque lookout points. It offers a peaceful atmosphere and is perfect for those seeking tranquility. The beach provides amenities such as bathrooms, picnic tables, and barbecue facilities. Additionally, there is a short nature walk trail behind the beach for visitors to explore. While being close to the city center, Oxley Beach remains tranquil and allows leashed dogs on its shores.
It’s probably one of the best beaches for a great walk in the fresh open air .. never get tired try it …. Just beautiful….

Leisure Tourist Park is a cozy accommodation located in Port Macquarie, offering easy access to attractions like Wave Bowl and Extreme Velocity. The property features a lovely garden, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a picnic area for guests to enjoy. With 12 well-equipped guestrooms featuring kitchenettes and entertainment amenities, the park provides a comfortable stay. Conveniently situated near Kempsey and Laurieton, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the picturesque Port Macquarie region.
We stayed in Villa 1 for a brief 2 night stay. Absolutely outstanding property and location. The ample sized villa had everything you need when going away. Will definitely be coming back again. The communication with the managers was great for arranging a late check in. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Very neat and clean accommodation, tastefully decorated and quaint. Had a comfortable stay over 4 days. The staff were very pleasant and polite, were only to happy to assist with any requests. Although there was a bit of rain, did manage to get a couple of nice sunny days, the outdoor spaces were great to enjoy the nicer weather with plenty of seating and picinc table. As it was winter and very cold , the cabin had a very good air condioner which heated the cabin nicely. The cabin had all the comforts of home and was especially roomy. I will be returning, and as I make regular trips to Port Macquarie for family visits I will want to stay here. The affordability of the accommodation is a plus as well. Overall good value for money conveniently located near the airport, easy access to main shopping areas and beaches, while being just far enough from the hustle and bustle to have a peaceful, quiet stay. Would recommend for small family groups as there is a good sized pool and some swings to keep the kids happy while the adults get organised for the day. While not a large tourist park, it is definitely inviting and well maintained. Has a laid back relaxed feel about the place, well worth a look.

Stayed very short notice on a Sunday evening after breaking down up the road with caravan, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Very helpful lady! She was very understanding of our situation, and let us store the caravan there for the last few nights when we left to see some family. Kids loved the pool too :)

$40 unpowered site nice flat grassy area, avoid the stinky rotten fish odour area emanating (but not apparent) from a patch of lawn next to end cabin. The unbearable stink still remains weeks in between visits. Dryers $7 for 51 mins clothes literally still damp after completing high heat cycle. Somebody stopped dryer cycle with 8 mins remaining. Quite a few permanent residents so it's not really holiday park energy here although the entrance looks nice and tropical. Dozens of big potholes throughout park no need for 10km speed signs. Good choice for dog owners like myself and the bathroom was cold but roomy functional and clean.
Steven E — Google review
Stayed here for the first time last night on our journey up north. Have stayed in many Cabins. The park itself looks tropical with a nice bbq cabana with a dart board. Excited with our stay we entered the cabin with dinner ready to go. Getting excited the kids went to there rooms. No bedding, no blankets. The main bed was made with sheet but no blankets were provided. Half a roll of toilet paper and you could imagine the rest. Lucky it was a hot night so the children survived as we brought some blankets from home. The next morning I decided to make a coffee. It tasted odd. Like dirt. I tipped it out and checked the kettle (see below photo of mould) then checked out. Will never come back nor recommend. Not worth the $200 per night. Don’t waste your money. Camp somewhere in your car.

Lovely Accommodation! Unfortunately I recently had to attend a family members funeral on short notice and needed accommodation for myself and my 2 adult daughters for a couple of nights. I came across Leisure Tourist Park during my search and as it was close to where we had to go and the prices were great I booked it. I informed the office we would be arriving late (10pm) and as the reception is closed at that time they supplied me with details on how to obtain the keys on arrival which proved very easy. They provided a map of the park so we could find our unit easily. Free parking was outside the unit which made for a very simple unload from the car. We stayed in a two bedroom unit (no 101) which was immaculately clean and had a great design layout with the front door opening onto an open plan kitchen, lounge, dining area with the two bedrooms and a bathroom off that there was plenty of room for us all. On the opposite side of the lounge/dining area is a sliding door that opens to a beautiful lawn area with lots of outdoor tables and chairs, a small children's playground, BBQ area and 2 pools. The grounds are very well maintained as well. The reception staff I spoke to on the morning after our arrival were lovely and very helpful. The cleaning and maintenance staff must be amazing as well as everything is so clean and fresh. As previously stated I only stayed for 2 nights this time but I will certainly be looking to rebook in the near future for a longer relaxing stay. The park is a very close drive to town and to many eateries, social clubs and Pubs. I highly recommend this tourist park especially for families with small children.

(Read till the end) Lovely atmosphere, 5 stars for the welcoming nature of the employees. Great selection of books and seating areas, I come here daily for a quiet, peaceful study session. Every one around you working hard motivates you to also work hard. HOWEVER, kids can be quite noisy… (eg screaming, running around, being overly loud). Also, today I saw an elderly man viewing pornographic material on the laptops near the study booths… I will attach a photo if possible to show. I find this is not good at all especially since school kids and children are always present in the library. 13/8/25, 4:10PM.

Another unique facility provided is the local history room which has the local database as well as access to platforms like ancestory. Another feature is the The Portal: A gaming space with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch which can be booked for max of 2 hours. The library in general is nice, they have almost daily activities for kids which is nice, however this makes the library very noisy all the time, no matter how far you sit from them you will still hear the loud noise. The Coastal Walk in Port Macquarie is a must-visit attraction, offering a 10km scenic walking track along the coastline from Town Beach to Lighthouse Beach. This picturesque route showcases stunning beaches, rocky headlands, secluded bays, and lush rainforest. Visitors can spot dolphins, turtles, and other marine life in their natural habitat. The walk provides beautiful views of the coast and nice beaches but requires ample time as there are no food vendors along the way.
Sooo good! From Shelly beach to Town beach 🏝️ There is everything! you go from rainforest to beaches, wonderful views! there are seats of all types in very convenient places, artworks along the way! The most important beaches are equipped with bbq, public toilets and coffee shops on the sea. Beautiful beautiful! to consider that there are climbs and descents and stairs. nature is fantastic, wonderful sea! Between one excursion and another you can easily relax on the beach and cool off with a nice swim. There are then many activities to do and arriving in the city you can stop for a good lunch or dinner admiring the lights of the sunset. I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes, sunscreen, hat and a bottle of water

Beautiful views along the coast, nice beaches as well. It was a long walk/hike so I definitely recommend to make sure you have enough time. There were some points where I wasn't sure where the path continues, but I found the way. It's important to take a water bottle with you (and maybe some snacks because there is no place where you can buy food on the way). There are a few water fountains to refill your bottle along the way

Kooloonbung Creek Nature Reserve in Port Macquarie is a hidden gem offering a natural escape within the city. The reserve features well-maintained gravel trails and boardwalks that wind through mangroves, paperbark swamps, and tall eucalyptus trees. One of the highlights is the sizable colony of bats located in the northeast corner. Despite its proximity to residential streets, the reserve provides a peaceful and natural environment for visitors to explore.
Amazing place considering it’s so close to Gordon Street and residential streets. It’s just so natural and you feel like you’re no where near town when in reality just metres away. If you start the full walk track from the cemetery end you finish up on Gordon St where you cross the road for the track to Westport.

Sander C — Google review
Fairly large reserve with a couple of Interesting loop walks - flying foxes, mangroves, boardwalk and whatnot. The main downside is lack of mosquito management. A vending machine with mosquito repellent at the main entrance would be very much appropriate. A map there would also help as signage at the main entrance is confusing.

The trail leading to Miners Beach takes visitors through dense rainforest before reaching the three separate beaches that make up Miners Beach.

Port's out of the way beach which supposedly attracts nudists despite the signs discouraging this. From Lighthouse Road there's a bunch of steps leading down to the beach and connecting up with the Coastal Walk which runs from Westport Club to Tacking Point Lighthouse.
Martin W — Google review
Lovely beach and a nice walk down a track and stairs to get there but it is not a nudist beach and a big sign at the start of the track encourages proper to report any nudity to the police

Lovely secluded beach which can only be reached via the coastal walking trail. It felt like we were transported to another tropical island, with beautiful waters and an expansive beach. The weather was also perfect and great for a swim. There are no facilities here, so will have to walk for around 10-15 mins to shelly beach if you want to get a shower.

If you're traveling with your furry friend, Dog Friendly Park in Port Macquarie is a must-visit destination! This delightful park features two separate fenced areas catering to both small and large dogs, ensuring that every pup can play safely. With plenty of shade from established trees, benches for humans to relax on, and fun obstacles like tunnels and balance beams for the dogs to navigate, it’s an ideal spot for a day out.
It was a fun little park for my dog to play at! There’s plenty of space and separate areas for smaller and bigger dogs, which is great. It’s got enough shade when it’s too hot and water for the dogs. It also has a few toys in the library!

POSITIVE. Great fully fenced dog parks, 2 seperate areas for small and larger dogs. Has benches, few activities ( tunnel, balance tree stump, sit/ stay platform, bars to jump over) water facility, doggy bags and bin at entrance. Lots of shady areas and trees to play hide and seek. NEG. Patchy grass so would possably be muddy in wet weather. Lots sticks from branches.

Two Great parks for travelling doggos. Fenced off, water for dogs and the humans... Established trees and seating areas. Near the public toilets (not inside the dog park)... Good size parks for your four legged to run, play, stretch and do their jobs. Some locals can be a bit unfriendly for travelling folk.
Dilan J — Google review
When it was first opened it probably nice. When we visited gates were damaged, no poo bags, garbage bin was overflowing, etc. We stopped by to let the dog stretch her legs during a road trip and the size was great and the surrounding area looked nice.

Great space for the dogs to run and play. One of the nicer parks we’ve been to on our travels. Two seperate fenced areas - one for small dogs and one for large. The small dog section was great and our little Jack Russell, Cosmo, loved running around with his new buddy Rex! Lots of shade and seats, water tap and bowl, mix of grass and dirt, obstacles for the dogs and friendly people, too! You can follow Cosmo’s journey around Australia on YouTube ‘Darby And Ro’ or on his Instagram @cosmology_the_dog Would highly recommend this dog park! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pretty okay. I went at 6:30 am and there was an aggressive dog in there so I went back later and the park was full of great doggos. There’s also two parks, one for large dogs and the other for small ones. There is not any grass in the large dog section so my mutt got pretty filthy. Also, check out the trees above for koalas. A really nice regional art gallery spread across 2 floors in the glasshouse centre. Quite a variety of art and even as a non appreciator of art, I enjoyed my visit and admired a few of the works. It’s free to visit so worth a stop while visiting Port Macquarie.

A dynamic opening for the inaugural National BLACKSMITHING Survey Exhibition, a beautifully installed exhibition of incredibly diverse work, ambitious in scale and technicalities. A great exhibition for summer, engaging on so many levels and wonderfully at home in the superb contemporary architecture of the Glasshouse Regional Gallery. GRACE COCHRANE, formerly chief curator at The Powerhouse Museum, provided a detailed survey of the revival of contemporary blacksmithing, also to be found in the catalogue! Delighted to be selected for the exhibition, showing a wearable bangle / brooch. Heat forged, mild steel loves to curve around the wrist, or equally, on heavier winter clothing, be pinned as a brooch.
CURATE C — Google review
It's a relaxing space and worth a wander. It's free and it's easy to park. The 2 exhibitions featured during my visit were of local work and of artists a bit further north. I loved at least a good proportion of it but I concede a regional public gallery has some responsibility to nurture artists from beginners to expert. This it does but doesn't forget to include a good proportion of skilled and stylish work. Keep up the good work.

The Googik Heritage walking track is a pleasant and relatively easy trail located in the Lake Innes Nature Reserve near Port Macquarie. It offers a wide and flat path that is suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists, making it an ideal way to enjoy the picturesque sights of Port Macquarie. The trail starts at Lake Road and extends south to St Columba Anglican School, providing a pristine natural environment for walking, hiking, or cycling.
Its a trail. The entry via Kalya St is not posted and and you have to walk down a dirt track for 400m before hitting the main trial. Very pretty, recommend that you don't go alone like I did because it's pretty isolated. Good for bikes, good for butterflies.

A little hard to find. Don't drive out to lake innes with google map. Nice Australian bush. Easy walk. Bit of a tea tree swamp

why can't I walk my dog on a lead? I pick up his poop!

This track is probably the best dedicated space to ride a bike in Port Macquarie - MOST of the time! With the recent rainy year, be prepared to get muddy if you wanna ride here. Disappointing, as with some improved surfacing & drainage, this track could service walkers & bike riders all the way into town almost! Lovely walk when it's dry. You'd forget you're in the middle of a small town along here. Bring mosquito spray though, you'll likely need it.

A lovely 5km walking and cycle track that takes you from Lake Road to Crestwood Estate with a turn off for one of the local schools. Lots of fauna around such as Water Dragons, Land Mullets, Goannas, snakes, Kangaroos plus bird life. Ideal place to take the family for a casual walk/ ride and there are also benches for those needing a rest.

Great for the hole family. Mostly flat, no major hills. Loverly and quiet, no car noises when in the track. Only native animal noises. Great for quiet contemplation. So very enjoyable for all ages. Highly recommend for all ages.....
Louise M — Google review
You can start your walk or ride along the Lake Road entrance and take in the scenery as you leisurely stroll through or you can fly through on your bike. With multiple entry and exit starting points at Lake Innes

A real hidden gem in Port. Fantastic for a walk, run or bike ride with the family.
