The Koala Conservation Hospital Port Macquarie is a small rehabilitation center that offers tours to the public. Visitors can meet adorable koalas and learn about their care and preservation for free. The hospital also has a gift shop and offers a Feed, Walk, and Talk tour every afternoon at 3:00 pm.
I recommend going early when the koalas are still active and having their mealtime. It was heartwarming to see how the unwell or injured koalas were cared for. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the volunteers were doing an amazing job. During our visit, there were four joeys, and it was wonderful to see them all. Evans, an injured koala on a special diet, was a delight to watch as he enjoyed his meal. The educational section was also excellent, providing interesting koala facts and valuable knowledge.

The Koala Hospital is currently operating from Guulabaa on Burrawan Forest Drive while they redevelop the site in town. It is such a great facility and so wonderful to see the koalas up in their trees. Great picnic spot outside.
Debbie A — Google review
Such a wonderful experience! The family enjoyed it. Good to see we have hospitals for these beautiful animals. They even have a store with cute items to buy. They also have a heritage onsite with cafe with memorabilia. Highly recommended!
Frank B — Google review
What a wonderful place for rescued Koalas. When you visit in the morning when the Koalas get food they are awake. Since September 2024 the hospital needs to charge an entry fee because people weren’t donating enough. An adult pays 12,50$ to treat the sick Koalas. We loved the visit and only met very kind volunteers.
Jules S — Google review
An amazing experience! We gained fascinating insights into the organization’s work at the Koala Hospital. The dedicated volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. We were lucky to spot a few koalas, but it’s clear that the focus here is not on showcasing the animals for tourism but on their protection and care—huge respect for that! The hospital will be closing soon, but there is a koala breeding center on the other side of the city, run by the same organization. We were encouraged to visit for more valuable insights. I highly recommend a visit—thank you for your incredible work, and keep it up!
Brian M — Google review
We visited the hospital with the family on a thursday morning. The best option is to go early, as they get food in between 8.30 and 9.00. They also get food in the evening. We didn’t book a tour guide but Maz was around and gave alot of information. We could ask all and any questions about the koalas and their way of life. It’s great to support the hospital as they so take care of them with care. Would recommend a visit!
Grace H — Google review
Such a beautiful place and a wonderful thing these guys are doing for our Koalas. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the koalas and learnt so much. My two boys had a great time
The H — Google review
Good initiative! There really wasn’t that much to do here though for those who have seen koalas before and been to other conservation parks. There were 5 koalas to see and a sign of how they were found. All up 10 min visit.

Sea Acres Rainforest Centre is a waterfront park that offers an elevated rainforest walkway, guided tours, and a cafe. It also features other attractions such as the Bush-Tucker tour with a small entry fee. Additionally, visitors can enjoy activities like golf, indoor bowling, swimming, cycling, and running on a triathlon course in the surrounding area. For water sports enthusiasts, there's the option to water-ski or jet-ski at Stoney Park Watersports and Recreation Centre.
I recently went on a rainforest walking trip and it was absolutely breathtaking. The forest impresses with its sheer power and ancient beauty — you can truly feel the timeless energy of nature all around you. The walking trail itself was stunning, winding through lush greenery and showcasing so many fascinating plants along the way. The atmosphere was incredible: peaceful, majestic, and full of life. It’s an unforgettable experience that reconnects you with the raw beauty of the natural world. Highly recommend!
Ekaterina B — Google review
a breathtaking coastal gem. The elevated boardwalk immerses you in lush greenery and diverse wildlife, offering a peaceful, educational experience. Perfect for families, nature lovers, and photographers, it’s a serene escape that highlights Australia’s unique rainforest beauty.
Sejal S — Google review
Beautiful rainforest walk, very well designed and about a bit more than 1 km long. We didn’t see many animals, but the nature and atmosphere made it a lovely experience. After the walk, we stopped at the café which was excellent – great food and drinks! We had a cappuccino and bacon with eggs, both super tasty and freshly made. Definitely worth a visit for a peaceful walk and a relaxing coffee break
Marco S — Google review
Lovely staff, all super friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend to spend some time at the bar and immerse yourself while grabbing a bite/drink. There are several tour options, although you can also purchase the boardwalk alone. In July there are some aboriginal tours going on - photo enclosed. They also sell plants if you want to bring a vivid memory back home and grow it fondly 🌱 Recommended!

Place itself was great. Cute gift-shop, a lot of things to choose from. We saw a few families really enjoying their time there, so perfect with kids. Since we have traveled a lot, it’s not a must see view. Good, but not a must see place.
Viktoria P — Google review
Fantastic Rainforest tree walk on a walkway through the forest with interesting information along the way about the various trees and plants and their uses. We were lucky enough to see a goanna. Great information centre and souvenirs, Cafe was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.
John C — Google review
We visited Sea Acres Rainforest centre and did the board walk today and it was magical! We were told at reception where we would see a Powerful Owl, and then spotted it perched on a tree branch which was amazing to see, definitely would not have seen this if we weren’t for the help! The walk is beautiful at every point and the trees were breathtaking! We also met Graham, who is a volunteer at the centre, and asked us if we had any questions about the place, we asked about the fig trees and he had all the facts, we learnt so much! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable so special thanks to Graham! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

The Port Macquarie Coastal Walk is a 9.1 km scenic trail that starts at Westport Park and takes you through Town Green, the breakwater, Town Beach, Flagstaff Hill, and Tacking Point Lighthouse. The walk offers stunning views of the coastline and historical sites such as Nobbys Beach and Harrys lookout. You can also join guided tours or explore galleries and art studios along the way.
Nice to walk before sunset. All the rock paintings along the walkway, and also water birds. If lucky, you might see some fish jump out of the water.
Zhijia L — Google review
The most wonderful scenic coastal walk because basically you don’t have to go out onto a street at all for the entire walk. Just make sure you pick low tide as there are a couple of spots that would be covered in water if you picked the wrong time. The views are wonderful. The tracks are well marked And the views that you get when you reach the Lighthouse are brilliant. Approximately 9km one way. A variety of steps and inclines and scrambling over rocks so unfortunately if you have a disability it could be rather awkward or if you are of a very low fitness level. I absolutely loved the walk.
Elizabeth A — Google review
Beautiful area to walk, did some of the beach walks as well, loved it.
Hayley K — Google review
This is such a stunning walk that takes in some great views along the coastline. Part of the walk includes the colourful rock murals along the water.
Donald E — Google review
One of my favourite walks ever. If you start at the lighthouse, you can finish with a coffee in town at the end. If you start in town, you’ve got the beautiful beach walk near the lighthouse for the end.
Georgia D — Google review
Full of Natural Beauty and stunning coastal walk. Port Macquarie offers you a range of stunning views and beautiful scenery and you may be able to enjoy the delicious foods while you plan your visit. The place is good for couple of days stay where you can find some great historical sites and also best place for the sea food lovers .
Subas S — Google review
While visiting Australia to see relatives, we took a walk along the coast. Several painted rocks along the walk to add to the views.
Gaagle P — Google review
I did the first part of the coastal walk this morning, the part that meanders along the Hastings River. This part of the walk is flat and right in the middle of town, so very popular with walkers, dogs and cyclists and therefore on a nice day can be quite busy. But with good reason! A great way to get your morning steps in!

NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Holiday Park is a simple resort located near the beach, offering basic cabins with kitchenettes and a pool. The area around the holiday park offers plenty of activities, from enjoying the coastal walk to watching dolphins in the Hastings River while having fish and chips. Visitors can also explore the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail featuring over 75 koala sculptures designed by Australian artists.
Perfect spot to explore Port Macquarie, we stayed in a clean studio cabin which had all the amenities we needed including a comfy bed and fridge. It was a very easy check-in and check-out process too. Would definitely recommend!
Teigan A — Google review
Packed in like sardines- glad we weren’t there when it was full. Glad we were there an only a quick nightly stop over. Shower/toilets clean. Very open to anyone as there aren’t fences along the break wall. Lock everything up. Nice and close to town. Unfortunately for us, it wasn’t our ideal park.
Melinda G — Google review
We stayed in the Caravan Park, which is very large and was well supported, as there park was very full. The sites are of generous proportions, although the roads are narrow, in places. The amenities were clean and modern and easily coped with the high volume of campers. We will come back again.
Bruce H — Google review
This was, without question, the single worst pool experience imaginable — a true disaster zone masquerading as a swimming facility. The chlorine smell was so intense it felt like standing in a vat of chemicals; my eyes were stinging, my throat was raw, and I could practically taste bleach in the air. The water was cloudy and filthy, filled with floating hair, plasters, and other unidentifiable objects that made it look more like a swamp than a pool. The pool area itself was appalling. The tiles were slimy and treacherously slippery, the air was thick and humid with a sour, moldy stench, and the walls and ceiling were stained with what looked like years of neglect. I honestly thought parts of the ceiling might collapse. The changing rooms were disgusting too — puddles of murky water across the floor, showers that reeked of rot, and an overall feeling that the entire place was breeding bacteria by the second. Noise levels were unbearable, with machinery clanging constantly over the deafening echo of screams. The pool area was scattered with trash, soggy towels, and even insects crawling near the benches. At one point, I thought I saw something moving in the water that definitely wasn’t human. The only redeeming quality was the kindness of the staff, who remained patient and welcoming despite clearly working in conditions that could only be described as hazardous. Their friendliness was commendable, but it did nothing to disguise the reality: this facility should be condemned, not open to the public.
Clara — Google review
Had a perfect stay in Studio cabin 3. Fully decked out with kitchenette, small seating area, verandah with outdoor setting, soft towels and spotless in every way. Staff at booking and check in were great fun ( they were actual people ) and made my stay enjoyable. Yes I’d go back.
Terry R — Google review
Stayed at the powered site for 2 nights, the park is in a great location but it is very packed and tight! Amenities are ok, but barely any pressure in shower and water variates temperature as your showering! Gutters are ridiculous, put some grates over them, I'm sure you make enough money to do that. Along with the bins being far away, at least have some near the BBQ. And why is there only 1 camp kitchen? It's a very large holiday park and feel that it is ridiculous to expect campers to walk so far with supplies to make a meal! Also I was near the sewage dump point and the smell was disgusting. In future I would much prefer to stay at another holiday park that isn't so commercial.
Zzipe C — Google review
Stayed in a cabin for 3 nights, cabin was clean with a comfy bed, the bathroom was a little small but was still find for our needs. Park has good facilities and is close enough to town to walk. Overall a great stay.
Phil B — Google review
Great cabins to staying virtually new great king bed, loverly shower. Booked one night then went back another night. Price went up by $10 from 150 to 160. About an hour later got a text with an offer for the date of the extra night for $30 less. But was told at reception that they could not give us the discount. Also told me if a person come and were to wait it probably won't come along. So to me the offer is a waist of time Was told that a lady took the offer given here but missed out because somebody else booked before they accepted the offer.Very disappointing and quite frustrating. Without that mayhem our visit would have been totally wonderful.

Visitors can take camel rides along the beach or visit the local Koala Hospital for a free tour to learn about the care of sick and injured koalas. There are so many nice beaches is Australia- Lighthouse Beach is no exception. Long stretch of beach with nice views - some hiking trails nearby to get a bird eye view of the beach. There’s an area with colourful pebbles and fishes - really relaxing.

Really nice and calm beach! We got so lucky and spotted at least 10 whales while we were there from the lighthouse. It was really special to see ❤️
Nicky B — Google review
Lighthouse Beach: Where the Coast Whispers Stories Just seven kilometres south of Port Macquarie lies Lighthouse Beach— a sweeping ribbon of golden sand stretching nine kilometres to Lake Cathie, where the ocean dances with the shore in an endless rhythm of salt and breeze. Beloved by surfers, this beach thrives on the energy of the sea, catching every swell, offering short, powerful rides for those who know the waves well. Sheltered from the summer’s north-easterly winds, it’s a playground for seasoned boards and spirited hearts. But this place is more than surf. It invites you to wander—barefoot and unhurried— on long sunlit walks where time drifts like foam on the tide. Or saddle up for a camel safari, cast a line into the surf, or roll gently along the sand at the southern end with 4WD access. During school holidays, the northern tip—near the surf club and café— is watched over by lifeguards, so families can play in peace under the watchful eye of the red and yellow. Above it all stands the historic Tacking Point Lighthouse, built in 1879, the final jewel in the coastal crown that is the scenic walk. From its viewing platform, the coastline unfolds like a painted scroll— and from May to November, you might spot whales carving silver trails across the deep. And south of Watonga Rocks, the beach becomes a joyful haven for your four-legged companions— a stretch of sand where leashes are unneeded and tails chase the wind. Just keep an eye on the signs, and let freedom run beside you.
Swetanshu S — Google review
Dog friendly section south of the rocks. Beautiful outlook. Yesterday we stood watching humpback whales play out in the ocean as they migrate north. An osprey hovered over the sandbank. Just a gorgeous beach!

Absolutely gorgeous beach with lots of beach for dogs to run on. Beach for dogs starts on the south side of the rocks. My dog was in heaven.
Lisa B — Google review
Very clean nice beach worth the visit. We spent some time here during our road trip stopover in Port Macquarie. The weather wasn't the best during that time but we still had a good time.
Malay A — Google review
Such a beautiful beach and dog friendly and can drive four wheel to the beach. It is an amazing place to get camel ride as well.
Xia Z — Google review
This is a beautiful walk if you park at lighthouse surf Club & they have a wonderful little cafe that opens I think till 1:00 p.m. Toilets and showers with plenty of car parking. It's a patrolled Beach and you don't seem to be crowded whatsoever. Beautiful sunsets looking down to Bonnie Hills. Well worth fuelling up at the cafe and then taking that nice big walk for a few kilometres up and back. Btw, if you sit On the chairs overlooking the beach you might get lucky to see a few whales. Definitely not uncommon to see so many, especially off lighthouse Headland itself.

Leisure Tourist Park is a cozy accommodation located in Port Macquarie, offering easy access to attractions like Wave Bowl and Extreme Velocity. The property features a lovely garden, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a picnic area for guests to enjoy. With 12 well-equipped guestrooms featuring kitchenettes and entertainment amenities, the park provides a comfortable stay. Conveniently situated near Kempsey and Laurieton, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the picturesque Port Macquarie region.
We stayed in Villa 1 for a brief 2 night stay. Absolutely outstanding property and location. The ample sized villa had everything you need when going away. Will definitely be coming back again. The communication with the managers was great for arranging a late check in. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Very neat and clean accommodation, tastefully decorated and quaint. Had a comfortable stay over 4 days. The staff were very pleasant and polite, were only to happy to assist with any requests. Although there was a bit of rain, did manage to get a couple of nice sunny days, the outdoor spaces were great to enjoy the nicer weather with plenty of seating and picinc table. As it was winter and very cold , the cabin had a very good air condioner which heated the cabin nicely. The cabin had all the comforts of home and was especially roomy. I will be returning, and as I make regular trips to Port Macquarie for family visits I will want to stay here. The affordability of the accommodation is a plus as well. Overall good value for money conveniently located near the airport, easy access to main shopping areas and beaches, while being just far enough from the hustle and bustle to have a peaceful, quiet stay. Would recommend for small family groups as there is a good sized pool and some swings to keep the kids happy while the adults get organised for the day. While not a large tourist park, it is definitely inviting and well maintained. Has a laid back relaxed feel about the place, well worth a look.

Stayed very short notice on a Sunday evening after breaking down up the road with caravan, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Very helpful lady! She was very understanding of our situation, and let us store the caravan there for the last few nights when we left to see some family. Kids loved the pool too :)
C M — Google review
$40 unpowered site nice flat grassy area, avoid the stinky rotten fish odour area emanating (but not apparent) from a patch of lawn next to end cabin. The unbearable stink still remains weeks in between visits. Dryers $7 for 51 mins clothes literally still damp after completing high heat cycle. Somebody stopped dryer cycle with 8 mins remaining. Quite a few permanent residents so it's not really holiday park energy here although the entrance looks nice and tropical. Dozens of big potholes throughout park no need for 10km speed signs. Good choice for dog owners like myself and the bathroom was cold but roomy functional and clean.
Steven E — Google review
Stayed here for the first time last night on our journey up north. Have stayed in many Cabins. The park itself looks tropical with a nice bbq cabana with a dart board. Excited with our stay we entered the cabin with dinner ready to go. Getting excited the kids went to there rooms. No bedding, no blankets. The main bed was made with sheet but no blankets were provided. Half a roll of toilet paper and you could imagine the rest. Lucky it was a hot night so the children survived as we brought some blankets from home. The next morning I decided to make a coffee. It tasted odd. Like dirt. I tipped it out and checked the kettle (see below photo of mould) then checked out. Will never come back nor recommend. Not worth the $200 per night. Don’t waste your money. Camp somewhere in your car.

We were running late and reception phoned to advise how to collect keys. The cabin was neat, clean with all necessary items to make ourt stay enjoyable. Location was great, and the price was excellent. Oh and we had a dog so pet friendly was a Big bonus. Will stay there again. George and Halina

Lovely Accommodation! Unfortunately I recently had to attend a family members funeral on short notice and needed accommodation for myself and my 2 adult daughters for a couple of nights. I came across Leisure Tourist Park during my search and as it was close to where we had to go and the prices were great I booked it. I informed the office we would be arriving late (10pm) and as the reception is closed at that time they supplied me with details on how to obtain the keys on arrival which proved very easy. They provided a map of the park so we could find our unit easily. Free parking was outside the unit which made for a very simple unload from the car. We stayed in a two bedroom unit (no 101) which was immaculately clean and had a great design layout with the front door opening onto an open plan kitchen, lounge, dining area with the two bedrooms and a bathroom off that there was plenty of room for us all. On the opposite side of the lounge/dining area is a sliding door that opens to a beautiful lawn area with lots of outdoor tables and chairs, a small children's playground, BBQ area and 2 pools. The grounds are very well maintained as well. The reception staff I spoke to on the morning after our arrival were lovely and very helpful. The cleaning and maintenance staff must be amazing as well as everything is so clean and fresh. As previously stated I only stayed for 2 nights this time but I will certainly be looking to rebook in the near future for a longer relaxing stay. The park is a very close drive to town and to many eateries, social clubs and Pubs. I highly recommend this tourist park especially for families with small children.

Tacking Point Lighthouse, a charming white cement structure with a keeper's cottage, was constructed in 1879 on a rugged headland. The area offers various activities such as dolphin watching, visiting the Koala Hospital, exploring hidden rock pools and rainforest boardwalks, and admiring the tallest waterfall in NSW.
This lookout offers absolutely stunning views! If you’re anywhere near the area, you can’t miss it. It’s the perfect spot to take in the landscape, snap a few photos, and just enjoy the moment. Great place to stop and take a break – totally worth it!

Second light house on my visit to Australia. Port Macquarie is a nice place with several areas to go and see the sites as well as sit and relax. This one was easy to find parking and casual stroll about. It is winter in Australia at this time so it can be a bit cool and breezy so keep that in mind if visiting (although during the day while the sun is out, it's not that bad)
Gaagle P — Google review
We stopped here 2yrs ago and the upgrades they have made are A+! The elevated board walk is magic, the extra seating is a great addition and the anchored binoculars are a wonderful idea (they could have been a little taller and there could have been a set on every observation deck). Beautifully restored and maintained. We got to see some whales in the distance and the binoculars definitely helped!
Bernice M — Google review
Such a lovely view of the sea. From the top of the cliff, this small light house section gives you a panoramic view of the sea. Both sides of the sea stretching across kilometres. A must visit point to sometime in the area !

Whether you drive straight to Tacking Point Lighthouse or take the 3 hour coastal walk from Port Macquarie, the views here are stunning. The lighthouse is automated these days with LED lights though that does not take away from the nostalgia and history. There are many placards that detail the history and sights. During certain times of the year, you can see whales migrating up and down the coast. If you want to can walk down to lighthouse beach or have a picnic on the grounds.
Soniqbuoy — Google review
Fantastic views from the top where the light house is situated with the ocean braking over the rock formations, the beach is awesome Getting to the top of the Lighthouse requires climbing some steps. There is some car parking at the top and bottom of the Lighthouse. Well worth a visit

Super views and great hike along the coast. The beach looked very inviting if that is on your card.

This popular café is located on the water's edge of Hastings River and offers beautiful river views over breakfast or lunch. They are open seven days a week and are known for their unfussy cooking that combines fresh ingredients with simple flavours.
Service was wonderful, staff were friendly and helpful. Despite the long line up and the number of people there, our coffees and wine came out very quickly and the coffee was spectacular! We ordered the grilled summer fruit and Halloumi salad from the specials board, and the sirloin. Both were delicious and the meat was perfectly cooked, so tender I could use my butter knife to cut it! Just devine!!

Amazing service especially by Maureen, such a lovely and helpful lady. Food was delicious and super tasty. The only let down was how cold it was in the outside seated area. Very breezy and cold. Blankets were a nice touch but heating would make the experience so much better.

Chinese restaurant
Blue Whale Asian Eatery in Port Macquarie is a hidden gem offering some of the best Asian takeaway options. Located on Flynn Street, this restaurant boasts an amazing menu featuring a variety of Asian dishes such as curries, noodles, and rice dishes. The annual whale migration from May to November is also a must-see attraction in the area. It's recommended to book ahead due to its popularity, but the attentive staff and reasonable prices make it well worth the visit.
Extremely popular Asian restaurant. Very flavorful food and good-sized servings. It's not the cheapest place to eat but the quality is very high. Eclectic decor throughout the restaurant, which gives is a good vibe. The staff are run off their feet whilst still very friendly and accommodating.
Ashleigh M — Google review
The food was great for a vegan diet, and the ambiance was amazing, making us wonder why we hadn’t visited before. However, our experience was ruined by the rude and judgmental behavior of the front staff, especially Sam. When I asked about the sauces in a dish, he was dismissive, and later, when my friend inquired about another dish, he rudely accused her of invading a customer’s privacy & miniature liquor corner. He also told her—behind my back—that I "don’t trust the food," which was completely unprofessional. When we addressed our concerns with the girl at the front desk, she was initially rude and dismissive, only listening after we confronted everything she calm down & listened to what we said but she didn’t say Sorry for all this. On the other side Sam kept coming from behind & walked away without helping her in this matter. Sam needs some realtime training and not judging people with their appearance & food preferences. Such behavior made an otherwise great experience disappointing, and I hope management takes this issue seriously.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was quite busy but I managed to get a table for one. ( Note to myself, book next time!). Ordered tempura vegetables as a starter, delicious! With chicken laksa as the main, again delicious with a glass of shiraz.

Great value for money. Delicious dumplings, delightful dim sims, succulent soft shell crab. Unassuming from the outside but definitely worth making a booking and having a meal here. The portion sizes are generous and are absolutely delicious. It’s great to go out for a meal somewhere that I can honestly say I couldn’t cook better at home. Can see why it’s so popular.
Ben F — Google review
We stayed away from the hustling bustling of Port Mac, but this restaurant was worth driving to after a long day. The food was delicious, definitely recommend the Spicy Thai Fish. They also give you extra chillies 🌶️ if you like its spicy. They also specialise in mixed wild and aromatic jasmine rice. The service was very friendly and food delivery on time. Worth the price and quality.
Dream T — Google review
We arrived at 5:30pm to collect a takeaway order. The restaurant was completely empty, but we were told we couldn’t wait inside for the order to be collected. It was freezing outside. I asked the wait staff, they said people can usually wait indoors as long to we have in the past and weren’t sure why we couldn’t. When the order was finally handed to me, I asked again why we had been made to wait outside. The gentleman denied it, saying I must be mistaken. I reminded him that I had even asked him to clarify at the time, but he simply told me I was being argumentative.. so I left feeling disappointed. Really unfortunate given how often we’ve supported this place in the past.. and how great the food is.

We visited The Blue Whale Asian Eatery for my wife’s birthday (which was on a Saturday night). We didn’t have a booking, and the staff explained they were fully booked, but they kindly offered us a table if we could clear it within 90 minutes, which was a fair compromise and much appreciated. The ambience is simple and unpretentious, nothing flashy, but the food more than makes up for it. Everything arrived quickly and tasted really delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, making the evening smooth and enjoyable. All up, a solid choice if you’re looking for tasty, no-fuss Asian cuisine in a relaxed setting.
Ryan F — Google review
Wonderful service from the wait staff. Beautiful interior and a great atmosphere. Only complaint was that we had to wait a little while for our food but given that it was a busy night with some very large groups of people, I can’t really complain - they served up some amazing food and the staff were busy working hard all night. Great that they accommodate for gluten free, I really appreciated that!

The Shells and glasses on the beach. It made me so happy to collect some colorful seashell pieces and washed glass pieces. Sea was dirty with red algae, but oh man the shells. Nice and great beach with the perfect facility, there is shower and public toilet 24/7. The car park is also wide, so don't worry about parking. You can enjoy the sunrise from here.

Shelly Beach says it in its name. It is a lovely beach, fairly sheltered and gentle waves with lots of shells and rocks on the beach to explore. The surf (Feb) was cold but refreshing, with gentle waves over rocks underneath rather than sand. Took a bit to get use to and would be perfect for floaties or noodles as to prevent you from touching the rocks underfoot. The waves were nice and gentle, couldn't really body surf but great to float in and throw a ball and play some water games. Parking was easy and walking down to the beach was short but be careful as there is a 800mm high rock retaining wall that we climbed down. Fine for mobile people but not great for anyone in a wheel chair. There is also public toilets and a pick nick area looking out over the beach if your planning a B.B.Q lunch.

The park offers various water activities such as fishing from the wharf, boating on the river, and beachfront barbecues. Additionally, visitors can opt for slightly dated cabins or powered sites at affordable rates.
Great holiday destination, family friendly environment. We stayed a week over Christmas on a powered site, amenities are a bit outdated but clean and serviced regularly. Can't fault the location of this place, even though it's not Town Centre, it's less than a 5 minute drive and walking distance to Aldi, food spots & other department stores. Our toddler loved watching the planes fly over and even though they were regular they weren't noisy! We loved the pool and staff were friendly, accommodating & shared great kid friendly activities nearby to go to. Keeping this place in mind for the future.

The camp kitchen is very comfortable and offers plenty of space to bbq, a fridge and a stove. They even offered help with our car, recommending mechanics. Very good experience overall.

We (2 adults) camped 2 nights in our caravan. I didn't like being situated under a huge widow maker gum tree, since it was very windy and i was scared of branches dropping. We had already set-up when i noticed the trees and the lady at reception would have left so i didnt ask to move. We sat outside well away from the drop zone and survived. This huge branch did land very close to our van. If i were to return i would ask for one of the grassy sites with no trees. The restrooms are tired and need renovation to make the shower stalls more generously sized. The pool looks nice but it's a pity that its next to the busy road. The standout feature is the fantastic new public shelter and covered deck directly on the river. We enjoyed drinks on the deck. See photo from deck.

Have just spent 3 nights here in an ensuite cabin. yes it is an older cabin with lots of timber veneer walls etc but it was clean and everything worked as it should. The bed and pillows were comfy and clean. We will definitely stay again, thankyou Edgewater for an affordable, quiet and peaceful stay.

We were only staying for one night as in Port Macquarie for the weekend. The cabin we stayed in was clean and tidy but basic and dated. The bunks beds were not made(no sheets on them but a bed cover on it). The holiday park on a whole seems a bit dated and tired looking.

Lighthouse Beach Holiday Village offers a variety of accommodation options just a short 2-minute walk from the sea. It's a popular surfing spot and also provides the opportunity for a scenic 10km beach walk to Lake Cathie. Whether you prefer staying in a powered caravan site, an ensuite cabin, or a luxurious beach house, this holiday village has something for everyone. Additionally, visitors can enjoy camel riding experiences.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Lighthouse Holiday Village, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly and accommodating staff who made us feel right at home. The cabin we stayed in was spacious and impeccably clean. It had all the comforts we needed for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights of our stay was the proximity to the beach — it was just a short walk away, making it incredibly convenient to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea whenever we wanted. Whether it was for a morning stroll or an afternoon swim, being so close to the beach was a huge bonus. The atmosphere at Lighthouse Holiday Village was calm and peaceful, making it the perfect spot to unwind and recharge. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing getaway with great service and easy access to the beach

Stayed in cabin 6, good location, we have stayed here a couple of times previously in our caravan so we opted to stay this time in a cabin. Disappointed with the cabin, very dated, musty smell, no air conditioning not even a fan in the bedroom , very poor tv reception, just wanted to relax after an 8 hour trip but not at all comfortable in the warm weather. Could not get the Wi Fi to connect. Will look elsewhere on our return trip home.

This Caravan park is outside of the town, easy reachable by car and bus. Bus stop outside of the park. It has been raining a lot so there are limited places available due to wetness and mud. Could do with some maintenance work, second toilet is missing the pull part, first one has been fixed with wire. Last toilet bowl has severe cracks and will break. I have experienced it twice before and the porcelain bowl has very sharp dangerous edges. Might cause serious injury to someone if it breaks ( I have reported it at reception). Dryer for washing was out of order in our amenities block, there was Dryer in other laundry ( can become busy at times) Lovely pool, clean facilities, nice natural setting. We did enjoy our stay and can recommend the Caravan park.

Very nice spot, right at lighthouse beach(2 mins walk) with a bus stop directly in front that brings you directly downtown. Lovely and quiet, very nice staff, very clean facilities.

We have stayed here on a few occasions, both in the bungalows and with a caravan. We loved it so much, we decided this time to hire 3 bungalows for the whole family for a week. It worked so well and we had a really enjoyable and relaxing holiday. The bungalows are comfortable and roomy. The grounds are lovely, with large well kept lawns, perfect for the kids to run and play on. There are great facilities, with a relaxing pool area, which we used every day (there is a great shallow end for toddlers) and useful onsite laundry facilities. The shopping centre is just a 2min drive up the road or short walk with everything you need - great to get all the essentials for the kids and the Tavern there has a great atmosphere and good food. We also had dinners on the spacious cabin decks and picnics on the lawn. There is so much to do in Port Macquarie - picturesque walks, great restaurants and cafes, new playgrounds and a water park, Billabong zoo, koala hospital - the staff were very helpful with recommendations for family activities. Just a 2min walk to picturesque Lighthouse Beach and camel rides with a great cafe down the other end of the beach. We had a fabulous holiday at Lighthouse Beach Holiday Village and will definitely be back again!
Eloise E — Google review
My family and I stayed in the bungalow style cabins. They are very comfortable and the staff very friendly and happy to assist. The camel 🐪 rides and lighthouse beach is a 2 min walk from the grounds. We loved our stay here and will be back.

Stayed here for 5 nights over the new years period. Booked a powered caravan site, turned up to a tent site that backed out onto an open road with no fence, non powered, and no grey water drainage - forced to go out & buy a lead to hook up to power on neighbouring site. Would have appreciated being told this before booking as not ideal with young kids. We were told the park was fully booked but was clear there were spare spaces & we could’ve been moved around. The grounds keeper was helpful which was appreciated but feel like we paid top dollar for a tent site. Pros were location - walk to beach & nice pool. However we wouldn’t stay again given the experience we had with the site & price we paid for it.
Kate W — Google review
We’ve stayed twice now and each visit has been awesome. The location is superb, close to one of Port’s most beautiful beaches. It is quiet and peaceful. The bungalow’s have everything you need and are clean, tidy, comfortable and very reasonably priced. Booking is so easy, they’re accommodating with arrival times and are just a pleasure to deal with. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else and will be back again… and again… 🙏🏻♥️ Thank you Andrew and team.

Altitude Nightclub, perched above the bustling Galleria Arcade, offers a vibrant escape with its stunning street views. Once known as Roxy's Nightspot, this venue has transformed from a smoky techno haunt into a lively hotspot for those looking to unwind after work or celebrate special occasions. With an emphasis on hip-hop and rap music, Altitude caters to a youthful crowd eager to dance the night away. The atmosphere is enhanced by friendly staff who whip up fantastic cocktails and ensure guests feel welcome.
Where to begin… It was an experience i will never forget. One moment i’m dancing with my friends and the next my drink was fizzy. I started to see come crazy things and everyone was spinning and my legs began to feel like jelly and i couldn’t walk. Would highly recommend

Club was transported straight out of the 1990s with sticky floors, overpriced drinks and the saddest dance floor known to man. The front door still demanded a $10 entry fee, despite having only a few dozen people inside. This sorry excuse for a nightclub acts as a shameful reflection of the past. Where even the locals are too ashamed to set foot in
Jojas G — Google review
Really bad nightclub. Better off going to Finnian's or Tacking Point Tavern until lockout and then going home. Couldn't rate this place any lower than one star but it deserves 0.

Canadian here on a working holiday visa. Had this night planned for 2.5 weeks with 16 of our backpacking friends. Arrive to the doors, I hand my ID to the bigger security guard. I ask him if he would prefer my Australian drivers license or my Canadian drivers license. He responds with "I don't care, as long as it's valid" in a very stern tone. He then proceeds to tell me that I'm not allowed in. When I ask him why I'm told it's because my throat is tattooed and it's apart of their dress code. The sheet of paper that's posted on the entrance states something along the lines of no face tattoos or head tattoos. Better teach your staff basic anatomy because my neck is not my head nor my face. Never in my travels have I been discriminated against because of my tattoos or my appearance. Get with the times this is 2025, not 1958. If I could leave this place a 0 stars I would happily do so.

Worst place I have ever been. When ordering vodka lime and sodas there was no vodka put into the drinks but was still charged for this. This happened on a number of occasions during the night.I raised this with the same bar tender each time but she continued to claim she had used the hand held machine. If she thought that I had too much to drink refuse me service instead of charging me full price and giving me lime and soda water. Considering I was sober enough to realise she was not putting vodka into the drinks would indicate I was not that intoxicated. It was the same bar tender however, when we would get someone else there were no issues with the vodka. I am not usually one to leave reviews but seriously disappointed given how exxy the drinks are. We had someone with us who was not even drinking who tried the drinks each time and also confirmed there was absolutely no vodka in them.

This place has always been the same there is good reason why the locals all go down to Newcastle just to go to there night club the staff have been rude each time the bartenders always mouth to everyone especially the bigger security guard that stands near the door the things that come out of his mouth are ridiculous he goes out of his own way to stir up people and it’s always boys he does it too I have seen and heard each time I have been it’s like he enjoys stirring up these blokes to get a reaction and then they wonder why everyone gets angry and wants to fight back and like I said he’s done this every time we’ve been. we have given this place chance after chance and each time the experience and expectation has been the same the drinks are ridiculously overpriced there is hardly anyone in there and the place is straight up disgusting looks like it never gets clean it’s been this way since my sister was a teenager.I wouldn’t even call it a night club the dance floor is the smallest floor you have ever seen.if you want to have a good time the drive to Newcastle is worth it cheap drinks way cleaner and multiple dance floors and levels and security gaurds actually do there job there is a lot more to what I’ve said but nothing is worth coming here there’s a reason why the pubs have more people and nightlife going on in them this place has bad reviews for a GOOD reason with everyone complaining about the same exact things.

This is a gem. While the decor is average there is a lovely view of the Hastings River and the marina. The highlight is the food - delicious. Far better than some more upmarket restaurants but not the prices to much. The prices at Quay Lime are cheap for the quality of the food. The staff are a delight. Should not be missed.

Sit inside or out and enjoy views overlooking the marina in beautiful Port Macquarie.

We came across this by accident staying at the Rydges next door. The coffee came out a little hot, but was delicious once it cooled a little. The bacon and eggs were fantastic and not expensive (about $11) for a good dose of bacon. Sitting in the winter sun by the window was wonderful and I felt nice and toasty by the end. Staff are friendly and attentive. Over all a pleasant morning.

Worst 'Pizza' we (6 people) have EVER tasted. The pizza base was awful, not fresh but the frozen type, the toppings were appalling and you guys should be ashamed serving these things to customers. The seafood was far from fresh and the fish cocktails tasted more like fish innards. For everyone's sake, please taste your food before you serve it. Two stars for the great location and good service from friendly staff, it's just a pity about the 'food' itself.

I found it to be very average food for expensive prices. I will complinent their delicious aioli. I ordered a steak and it was over cooked for what I ordered. It was however still very tender. My friends had the Quay Lime Pie for dessert and it was just plain cheesecake coloured bright green

Billabong is hands down my favourite wildlife park I’ve ever been to. The staff are all so friendly and the enclosures are amazing. You can get so up close and really see the animals who are all so well looked after and loved. We already cannot wait to come back.

The animals spaces are thoughtfully designed, giving the animals plenty of space while still allowing visitors to enjoy an up-close view. The staff were friendly and incredibly informative, always happy to share their knowledge and answer any questions making the visit both fun and educational. Overall, a lovely place to spend the day, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates animals, conservation, and a truly well cared for environment.

We had a great day. Zoo Keeper Kristie was especially helpful in coaxing the Snow Leopard out after seeing us waiting patiently for him to come out. We did the Cheetah Feeding experience which was awesome. All of the animal info sessions were well run and informative. There were not a lot of people on our visit, so we didn’t have to jostle for a look or good position to take photos. All staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to the whole Billabong team for making our day memorable.

Only down side was the hand sanitiser was empty upon exiting the kangaroo enclosure.

Great to see places like this in cities. Nature parks with info etc on how important it is to protect these natural spaces. Playgrounds, picnic areas, walk through the mangroves. See some flying foxes up close.

Parked next to the cemetery side of the park and walked into the mangroves. The walking path is a board walk through the park and there are tens of thousands of these creature and these creatures are massive !!! There also is an area where you can sit by the water and it is very relaxing. Remember to wear but repellent as there are lots of mosquitos ready to pounce on their next human prey. Didn’t see any koalas as they as pretty hard to see.

Lovely short walk around the woods, with a view of the sleeping flying foxes across the water. Path is raised, boarded and accessible for prams / wheelchairs. There is also a decent green space to sit on when the weather is good. Unfortunately the park seems to have become a place for the homeless to make camp so that certainly complicates things as there are some more approaching characters

The park doesn't look like much, but once you get to the boardwalk it is incredible what you can see. Plenty of information about the trees and the hundreds of flying foxes. The plants are beautiful and everything looks well maintained. Apparently there are crabs, but I didn't see any. But in the end I saw hundreds of flying foxes resting in the trees. Totally worth checking out.

There’s a few different walking tracks. The big one makes you feel like you’re in the absolute middle of no where when in reality just metres from Gordon Street. It’s amazing how real and natural this park is. If you love walking in controlled nature this is the place to go. If you do the full walk from the cemetery you will end up on Gordon St where you cross the road for the walkway to Westport.

Path down to the beach at both ends is steep, but in good nick. Parking is very tight, being very close to the Tacking Point lighthouse nearby.

Park
The focal point of the event is primarily the Port Macquarie Town Green, situated adjacent to Lady Nelson Wharf on the Hastings River. While BBQ competitors typically gather at Breakwall Holiday Park near Town Beach, the general public will find the Town Green to be their ideal location. For those interested in exploring, a leisurely walk through the holiday park offers an opportunity to observe innovative and impressive setups of competitors' BBQ equipment, including massive smokers resembling caravans and custom-made creations.
A very lovely late afternoon and evening spent sitting on the grass with a picnic and friends.

The central hub for beautiful Port Macquarie. Enjoy a stroll along the rock wall that shows off the Hastings River . Cafes & eateries are all around . A peaceful park to sit and take the spectacular views 😍
Sue — Google review
Playground is small but modern. My kids 9 & 4 still had fun for quite a while. The space was tidy and green. There are modern public toilets.
Shane W — Google review
Beautiful area in the community where you’ll get to see ocean 🌊 view as well as easy access to the main part of port Macquarie! Come see the place and enjoy 😉 Cheers 🥂

Windmill Hill Reserve is a hidden gem along the stunning coastline of Port Macquarie, perfect for those seeking a tranquil escape. This picturesque spot offers breathtaking views and is an ideal location for whale watching during migration season, where you might catch glimpses of these majestic creatures breaching in the distance. The reserve features lovely rock pools nestled among the rocks—just be cautious when navigating the cliff track down to them, as it can be quite steep.
Beautiful stretch of coastline on the south side of Port Macquarie. What you can't see in the photos is the ephemeral eruptions of white water caused by migrating whales.
Dai N — Google review
Lovely secluded protected spot along the Coastal Walk. Plenty of shade and tables to sit down and relax at. There is also an outdoor workout station nearby as well. The Reserve is also home to the artwork “Folly”, pictures are in the review upload.

Perfect for whale watching. My go to spot. Nice rock pools down amongst rocks, just becareful taking the cliff track down, not for the faint hearted. You might see, the odd brown shake in Summer. They usually hear you first, so dont freak out. Rock pools are private. Magic Sun Rise, picture perfect.
Gail V — Google review
Lovely view. Nice amount of shade and sun for all year use. The area is well maintained.

33Innes Gardens Memorial Park - Port Macquarie

Memorial park
Innes Gardens Memorial Park in Port Macquarie is a serene oasis that offers visitors a tranquil escape. Just a short stroll from Major Innes Motel, this beautifully maintained park features lush lawns and vibrant flower gardens, creating an inviting atmosphere for reflection. The gently sloping grounds are perfect for leisurely walks, while the presence of local wildlife adds to its charm. Many have found solace here during difficult times, praising the peaceful ambiance and the stunning chapel that accommodates numerous guests comfortably.
Beautiful gardens, a very peaceful place to say farewell to a loved one.

The gardens themselves are quite lovely, and the venue is a good size and location for a service. However, I've given 2 stars because of the 'service' we were provided for scattering my mum's ashes. I called in advance, explaining that I didn't really know what the process looked like (e.g. did we need an appointment? Did we need to do/prepare anything in particular?) and was greeted with little to no empathy over the phone. I was told gruffly that we did need an appointment, that it would cost $190 to scatter the ashes, and we had the option of adding a plaque for $900. We were happy with just scattering the ashes, so made an appointment and I shrugged off the treatment over the phone. When it came to the actual scattering however, we were treated similarly rudely - no sympathy for our loss, no consideration of whether we had questions about the process, it really felt like we were just there as a business transaction. The experience we had was not ideal but probably could have been improved with some nicer service and some explanations of how it all works. As an example, it would have been helpful to be told over the phone when I first called that we would not be involved in the scattering process once the ashes are handed over - the staff will do this on their own schedule and call you when the scattering is complete. I am glad we were able to fulfil mum's wishes of having her ashes scattered at the gardens, but would really hope they can improve their approach to grieving families and loved ones.

We had Mums service here on Friday 23rd August. Plus many more family before her. We can only give 5 stars ( we would give more if we could) for this absolutely gorgeous chapel and gardens. Also the administration staff are so beautiful and calming at this very hard time. A beautiful place. Xxxxxx

Very peaceful, well maintained gardens.

Very peaceful, large chapel could seat quite a few people. A modern building with open side doors so the heat on the day we were there was not an issue. The funeral directors were most professional understanding and caring people.
Anthony D — Google review
If a cemetery can be a nice place then this is it. Well maintained lawns and flower gardens. Laid out on gently sloping grounds. Relaxing area, plenty of parking. Far better than conventional cemeteries. And the birds and ‘Roos add to the serene ambience

Went to the Mother's Day service this morning was Absolutely Beautiful. The Chapel had such a Warm Feel about it. Thank you very much. Suzanne

Located in downtown Kansas City, McInherney Park is a large urban park that contains many attractions such as a lake, playgrounds, and a baseball diamond. The park is also home to the city's largest band shell and hosts numerous events throughout the year.
We spent Xmas Day at McInerney Park & we all had a fantastic day. Even the council came & emptied the bins so there was no stinky bins.

Nice place for family picnic . One big shade and two BBQ facility and plenty of seating under one shade . Because of one shade it could be over crowded during weekend . Naked fire 🔥 flame is prohibited. It is just front of water and next to local accommodation. We have annoyed by very strong wind and bbq wasn’t very well
Sayem S — Google review
Great quiet location for a day on the lake tubing, finishing or just a picnic. Will definately be back
Naydene B — Google review
A lovely place, little sandy beaches, toilets with shower, bbq and table under cover with car park. Unexpected beautiful place
Alice S — Google review
It's got a small barbecue space which is undercover and has access to a small Jetty however there's no bathroom facilities there. Probably not the best place to go with the kids as there's no playground equipment as well.
Mat “ — Google review
Beautiful little secluded park with barbecue facilities and tables to sit and eat. There is wharf kids can jump off at and a small beach for little ones to play in water. The parking lot is small so get in early on a good day if you are wanting to set up for a lunch with the family.
Aran L — Google review
Great place to meet relax with family and friends. Large well maintained grass area with under cover seating and bbq area. Located right on the river with a small sandy beach good for a swim with the kids. Fishing, swimming, parties fun for all the family.
