I’m actually so disappointed to have to write this review because I had big expectations of this hotel. It was at the end of our two week trip in Japan, and after staying at some great hotels, it was such a jarring difference. Also, I had actually originally booked the Park Hyatt, and changed to this hotel because I wanted to try something new…
Someone else mentioned it in their review, but it does not feel like a 5 star hotel, and not sure where the rating comes from. It’s also a shame because the staff is kind and helpful, but they really need to pull together as a team.
First off, the check in/reception area is in the same place as a restaurant so it is super busy and noisy. Every time you come in and out everyone is staring at you.
My main complaint though is regarding the room. We booked a King Sized bed suite, which is the top range of their room, and quite expensive, and were so disappointed with the cleanliness and decor of the room.
The size of the room is satisfactory, and complimentary mini bar appreciated, however, when I walked into the suite the wall was so empty, it literally sucked my energy and I even made a comment to the staff. I also found some hair and dirt on the bed. Additionally, the staff mentioned to us that on the sunny, clear day you could see Mt. Fuji (which of course made me excited) but as you can see in my photo, there is a building blocking the view of the mountain so that was disappointing. The bed was also quite solid/hard. I didn’t mind, but my boyfriend was quite uncomfortable.
The next morning we found an inappropriate amount of dust behind the bathroom sink, which I requested at reception to be cleaned, and they did so but why did I have to ask? It seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in months! (Ew).
Finally, this morning before I left I also noticed a lot of dust on the fake plant in the room, sigh. Also there was this black remote that did nothing in the room? I wish we would’ve stayed at the Ritz in Midtown.
As I mentioned, the staff is kind, and the saving grace for this hotel was the transport to the airport that was complimentary but for the price we paid, it feels expected. They did waive a fee for different terminal drop off, which was appreciated, but I do feel more could’ve been done to make up for these issues.
They really need to get it together. Im being generous with three stars..
