(Translated by Google) [Half & Half Mapo Noodles and Egg Fried Rice]
Visited at exactly 12:00 on a weekday. There was no line, and about 80% of the seats were filled. There were three tables for two people and four or five tables for four people, and it was nice that they were considerate enough to avoid sharing tables. The interior was clean, and the fragrant smell of lard used in the stir-frying was appetizing.
If the first floor is full, you will be guided to the third floor, and there is also an elevator at the back of the store.
I ordered "Half & Half Mapo Noodles and Egg Fried Rice (1,200 yen)". A black paper apron, ice water, towel, and chopsticks were provided immediately, and the service was polite.
It took about 15 minutes for the food to be served. There seemed to have been some kind of mistake, and the staff apologized many times, which made me feel embarrassed. It may usually be faster.
What arrived was simmering mapo tofu and golden egg fried rice. The appearance alone is enough to whet your appetite.
Mapo noodles: First, start with mapo tofu. It's hot, so blow on it well before taking a bite. It's not too spicy or numbing, and it's a classic "taste that everyone loves." It's very delicious, with a nostalgic taste that makes you feel like you've had it before, even if it's your first time eating mapo noodles. If you compare it to a commercially available product, it tastes more like Marumiya than Cook Do. Next, the noodles, which are also hot and medium-thick noodles that go well with the mapo tofu. However, the amount of noodles is small.
Egg fried rice: The only ingredients are eggs and green onions. The rice is fluffy and light, with a mild saltiness, but it's delicious. This is actually the impression I got when I took a bite before eating the mapo tofu. If you take another bite after eating the mapo tofu, the saltiness is so mild that you can hardly taste it. However, it goes perfectly with the mapo tofu, and when you eat it with mapo, the balance of flavors is exquisite. It's such a perfect combination that you'll wonder if it was made with the intention of eating it like this from the beginning. Finally, I poured all the mapo tofu over the fried rice and ate it all. I considered adding vinegar or chili oil to change the flavor, but decided that it was the best balance as it was, so I ate it all as is. I was completely drenched in sweat after the meal.
If mapo goes so well with fried rice, mapo curry noodles must be even better. Next time I'd like to try the half-and-half mapo curry noodles.
By the way, when I finished eating and left the restaurant, there was already a line of about five people outside. It really is a popular restaurant.
It was delicious.
Thank you for the meal.
