I am a huge fan of the banana bread and pumpkin spice lattes from their fall menu, and want to try the Black Forest one next. And their cold brew is always super good! Now their matcha…I say this with so much love but although the flavours are yummy (like the strawberry or banana bread) the quality of the matcha varies greatly depending on who makes it. The other day I got a banana bread matcha and after I left I realized that there were huge clumps of dry matcha that were so disgusting and bitter and I could hardly drink it. (I would have gone back and asked for a new one but I had a meeting). So if you’re getting the matcha here, keep in mind that it might not be mixed properly. Simple and straightforward, you can tell with every bite and every crispy crunch of the veggies inside that it's made fresh with quality ingredients. I only got half because I thought if I was still hungry afterwards that I might get a half of the ham and cheese to try that too! The water, because that's what it is — fizzy water with a hint of flavour to it — was surprisingly good. Kudos to City Seltzer. I imagine the idea is to offer an alcohol and sugar-free alternative to beers or soda, and I think they definitely offer a good one. I'm hesitant to admit that while each sip was refreshing, I was a tiny bit disappointed by the lack of overpowering flavour, but that disappointment faded away when I got a hint of the orange cream soda flavour and remembered I was drinking water. There's an odd and refreshing satisfaction to remembering that if you ask me. Not to be holier-than-thou or anything like that, I just thought it was a really good can of lightly-flavoured seltzer water. Unfortunately, the fridge was out, but I was offered a glass of ice that I gratefully accepted and that made the experience so much better. For dessert, I opted to pass up the apple and cinnamon danish — and I call it that because I think 'croissant' is a bit inaccurate, or maybe the little sign was for something they were sold out of at the time — and went for something I see much more rarely, the greek yogurt and raspberry danish. The place was very cosy and comfortable. I ordered their specialty London fog as well as their powerhouse sandwich both of which were very delicious. However, in the few hours that we spent studying there, the smell of cigarette smoke started to diffuse through the café. I believe it was coming through the back door from the alley or somewhere else from outside, we started in the back of the café and when the smell of smoke became too much we moved to the front after an hour or half an hour, it smell smoke headed defused into the front of the café as well. I enjoy having the windows open with a fresh breeze as much as anyone, but if you entire café is thinking of café smoke, I feel the staff should do something. It made the end of our time very unpleasant and caused both of us to have headaches aside from the smoke. I think it was really nice place.

Gorgeous views of Ottawa and Gatineau, great spot to watch the Gatineau fireworks. Walk up to the food truck order and pay, you are given a # and they bring your food to you once it’s prepared. I had the Landshark Lager, Tavern Burger & Fries. Beer was nice and light, burger was delicious, crispy bacon and fresh tomato slice, fries were terrible needed salt with the texture of cardboard. Pass on the fries. Service was good. They have fire table and heat lamps with strings lights for when the sun sets, which is when the music comes on. Great time will go back.
