Great hotel, the room was lovely, with a fab shower, soft towels, and a good selection of teas and coffees. The overall vibe was really nice. Breakfast was very tasty, and our evening meal was absolutely delicious. One downside was the heat, the room was boiling and the windows barely opened. They did provide a fan, but without air con, there’s only so much that helps. Also a shame we couldn’t log in to Netflix etc. due to licensing. Card and Birthday banner was a nice touch. Overall, a really enjoyable stay with a couple of niggles but we'd happily return!

Beverley and staff are friendly and always go the extra mile to make sure they do all they can to ensure our needs are met. The bedrooms are all tastefully decorated and adorned differently. We are pleasantly surprised with each room we've stayed in, each room tells a lovely story. Good quality towels, bath robes and toiletries are provided. We always pay the extra to have breakfast and evening meal there. The food is served in a lovely relaxing, tastefully decorated area and we have never been disappointed with the service or meals. On hindsight we should have booked a cab to take us there as not an easy walk. The pub was welcoming from the get go, evening meal delicious, the lady behind the bar on Sunday was exceptional and the whole atmosphere of the pub was friendly and relaxed, the room was very comfortable, with so much attention to detail. Best shower we have experienced whilst travelling. Would happily stay again.

The atmosphere is lovely. The staff are friendly but the food..hmm. .. We arrived a little after 5pm and only discovered after making our choice that we were given the lunch menu. The chef was accommodating as I was still able to have the chicken and bacon sandwich. Hubby decided to try The quarter chicken special. The potatoes and broccoli was flavorful but the chicken tasted boiled and very bland. Such a pity as the presentation was great. There isn't much in the way of variety on the menu so don't think we will be back for a meal, maybe just drinks.

We phoned the restaurant to explain this, they were unapologetic and said “well it was only in one meal” they would refund only that. Obviously this was unacceptable as our whole family meal was ruined. We spent £88.50 and all felt sick and couldn’t finish our meals and the restaurant seemed to think this is acceptable and were quiet rude.

The staff make this place the warm welcome to attentive professional table service. As we left they all gathered to say goodbye to us. We were celebrating an unannounced birthday when they found out they really made it special for us. The food was excellent! The compliments could go on but try it for yourself you’ll see what I mean. We didn’t get the chance to try out the cafe’ at the rear but it looked every bit as nice as the main restaurant. For travellers there’s car parking to the rear it’s free after 6pm otherwise it’s a pay via app as is the rest of the area. There’s also limited street parking. The access is up a small flight of steps but for mobility there’s a side door with no steps if you need it. I highly recommend a visit here we found it to be very special.

At £100 per person I expect a bit more. Maybe it’s comparing to other restaurants like the Fordwich Arms and Hide and Fox, but The West House is now a couple of leagues below these I’m afraid. Most courses were fairly average and lacked flavour. The squid a bit rubbery, the pasta bland and the chicken dry. Red mullet quite nice. We decided to stay the night as well. Overall the experience was positive. The food was very nice and the accompanying wines were well chosen. I would certainly eat there again. As for the stay, while the room was nice and the facilities plenty, there were significant shortfalls. Firstly there were notable water stains in the plaster around the skirting board and wall behind the towel rail. Secondly the hand towel hook fell out of the socket. Finally the shower had amazing water pressure and would have been great, however the drain must have been blocked as after 60 seconds operation it was overflowing. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted & seated & straight away a menu was given to us, which I read & saw at the bottom that the set menu cost was £100 per person, plus £55 per person for wine to accompany each of the 5 main courses, (Optional), so a total cost of potentially £310 a couple if you had the full menu, plus £17.50 each if you wanted the cheese board, post dessert with a coffee, (Unknown cost)! Then all the food started to come out which we then knew something was very wrong as we had not ordered anything at that point! Anyway- we declined to dine as could not justify the cost, plus we felt we were not explained to fully, the set up of the restaurant on the booking phone call & to attend as all would be fine, as they had had a lot of cancellations that evening, so space was not a problem! When we went to leave, the waiter said well that will be £50 each cancellation charge as all our food had been made in advance! We then started to explain our rational on the above points & as to how we had been incorrectly informed in order to get my wife & I inside the restaurant, knowing that if we were not going to dine, then my card would be debited £100! After my wife & I had had a discussion with the waiter, he went to speak to his manager & then returned stating the cancellation charge would be reduced to £50, which we paid & then left, but not after the waiter had said that we should have booked via their website & not Google, which I replied who knows which bespoke websites to look for when you are out of area, as everyone uses Google to search, which gives you all the detail needed when you are searching many eateries within a set timeframe! We then sat in the car thinking where we would go to sit down for food, we tried a few pubs & they were fully booked up, so we ended getting fish & chips & returning to the barn conversation we had booked out for a couple of nights! It’s nice to go somewhere that doesn’t skimp when it comes to portion sizes. None of this 3 potatoes and half a carrot rubbish. I had a half roast chicken which came out on a bed of seasonal vegetables, tender stem broccoli, carrots, peas and cabbage with probably the largest Yorkshire pudding known to man! The food was served quickly and everything tasted amazing. Staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. The atmosphere within the pub had a nice warm rustic feel, with a beer garden out back too if you’re a sun lover. If you’re a dessert fan then I recommend the chocolate and raspberry tart. Wouldn’t definitely look to come back here again

Food can take a little while to arrive when it gets busy but it's never been a terrible wait and it's location on the high street means there's no shortage of parking. The staff were superb, attentive, friendly, helpful service. Nothing was too much trouble. I took a cake in and balloon for the table in the morning which they kept and bought out at the appropriate time along with plates to put the cake on. The food was all excellent, every guest loved their food. We had the Beef Burgers, chicken burgers, Nachos, Thai Green Curry, Steak pie.. 11of us in total. Drink was served and plenty of people frequently checked if we needed more and then serving as required. The staff really were 100% and this made for a fantastic evening with some lovely memories for our family. If you get the chance to eat here, you won't be disappointed. Situated further inland near Appledore, we found The Ferry Inn a dog friendly restaurant, for well behaved dogs, specialising in locally sourced food - perfect! We made sure to reserved a table before hand, as we found out that it can get very busy, especially during the Scallop festival. Nevertheless we had the full works, drinks, wine, starter, main, dessert and coffee too. Four people dined just under £240 not cheap but normal for today's standards. The Scallops had four options of flavours, which could be either starter or main. (See photos) We had mixture of those, all were delicious and cooked very well. That said there was plenty of other options, if desired including a reasonable dessert selection. The decor is traditionally English pub style, as you would expect and the service was great from the lovely ladies working hard too. The seating area was bright and airy with a nice covered roaring log fire to boot. They even had QR codes for free WiFi on the table map! Car park was a good size but can get busy with ramblers walking around the marshes. We even had a flying visit by a local helicopter pilot, using the helipad opposite! Overall a pleasant experience and would definitely visit again....4/5

I had the burger and chips, corn beef fritter, cod bites (more like cod strips) and the Yorkshire wrap. The burger and chips was a massive portion, absolutely love and filled me to the brim. The burger was so big I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. The corn beef fritter wasn't fully coated and fell apart in my hands. It was okay, though I wouldn't get it again. The cod bites were more like strips and was mostly batter but it was enjoyable. Tartare sauce came in a bottle, I would've loved home made sauce instead. The Yorkshire wrap was hard in some places but edible. There wasn't much filling, but the filling that was there was yummy. This came with a pot of delicious thick gravy and chips. The chips with gravy poured over was a game changer. Absolutely my favourite bit of the meal. The service was always top notch. I dined in both times and I was always made to feel welcomed and cared for. The menu prices have changed and have increased. I've attached the updated menu here. The bathroom, although very very small, made great use of its tiny space and was very clean. The venue itself was clean and welcoming. They also do a toad in the hole which I'm dying to try next. There are hits and misses but I'll definitely come back for more chips and their delicious gravy!

However our mains were definitely not spiced enough. I had a bhuna which had no heat at all (meant to be medium) and lacked flavour. The lamb mulli on the other hand was so oily and sickly that it left both of us feeling quite nauseous after just a couple of bites. on finishing the meal they asked if it was ok and we said yes apart from the lamb dish, and they could see that we hadn't eaten much of it at all. This would have been a good point to offer to discount that dish, but we were charged full price for the meal. With how good the reviews were we wondered if it was their second chef, rather than head chef, who prepared this as it was a quiet Sunday evening. If this is the case then it could be worth some additional training for the second chef. On the plus side, we did think it was reasonably priced, the portions were good and the starters, rice, naan, poppadoms were good. But the main dishes definitely disappointed. I have taken my bhuna as takeaway though and will add my own spices at home. Edit - the bhuna smelt so bad on opening the fridge this morning so it went in the bin.

It wasn't even 10%. At 8.35pm when our food still hadn't arrived we were greeted with nothing more than 'sorry we're busy'. This I understand, but had we of been informed when we placed our order it would be such a wait, we could have said yes/no... and we're now 1h- 1h30 later than we were advised - A total of 2h30 after ordering. Felt like we were completely fobbed off. No consideration for customer service and inconvenience (and the fact we had 2 children waiting for their dinner), just an 'Ah well, we're busy'. Poor customer service. Thankfully the food was enjoyable, but given this experience we won't be using them again, and will steer anyone we know well clear of using them. We’ve been wanting to try the Print House for a while and were not disappointed! The place itself is lovely with a really welcoming feel and wonderful ambience (even on a Monday night when most places are pretty dull), the staff were friendly and attentive and they made us feel special and really made the occasion, especially for the kids, despite it being quite a ‘grown up’ place. We stayed last night after a Chapel Down vineyard tour (also highly recommended- the hotel does a great package deal!). We had a delicious dinner at the hotel after drinks in the charming salon with log burner. Lovely husband had the soup followed by excellent meatballs and I had the duck pate followed by a very tasty fish pie. We both had the sticky toffee pud - wicked and moreish. The wine list is very good and of course they sell the splendid Chapel Down fizz! The continental breakfast was also very good indeed. All curries can be ordered at your choice of heat level, most foods have vegetarian options and there is a broad variety of dishes on offer for reasonable prices. The person behind the till confirmed that he was the “manager” and that’s who I had spoken to over the phone (it was a young guy with a dark beard). I was again told that he was busy and I would need to wait to talk to him. After about 2 minutes of waiting around another customer walks into the store, box in hand. This customer tells the manager they had messed his order up and given him the wrong food! I finally get to speak to the “manager” after waiting around and watching him make several pizzas. He tells me that they can’t process a refund for me. He tells me this about 6 times. His reason was they cannot process refunds in the store and it would need to be dealt with by “HR”. Why he could not just refund me is a mystery. He seemed to suggest that he needed to request the refund but didn’t say if he was actually going to do it. It was literally like speaking to a brick wall. It was clear that after putting the phone down on me he hadn’t remade the pizza or made any attempt to process a refund. Even after leaving the store I’m not sure if he did anything to try to get me refunded. At no point in this process did anyone say sorry or try to apologise. The delivery driver did to be fair to him after dropping the food. But this “manager” didn’t make any effort to apologise at all. He was incredibly rude and unhelpful the entire time. I’m taking the time to write this as I hope the franchisee will see it as it’s their business. They ought to know what their staff are getting up to. It’s genuinely shocking how badly this entire thing was handled. The appalling customer service is one thing, but the complete disregard for food safety is unforgivable. PS.
