Steve the chef has superb skill and the roasted half lobster and shellfish in the most exquisite sauce was absolutely sublime! My only tiny tiny criticism is that I would love soft French baguette to go with it as I didn’t want to miss a drop of the delicious sauce and I found that the sourdough, although really lovely and perfectly made, was just a little bit hard and didn’t do what a friend soft French baguette would do. But don’t let this put you off at all because seriously the cooking here is Michelin starred! And the fires we found at the George & Dragon are worth the visit on their own merit! But the food was great too. Food is good (apart from the Cote burger which I thought was quite bland), and it’s a very nice place to sit and have lunch. There is nothing negative to say about this property. It’s an extremely well managed, well equipped and beautifully located gem. The rooms are exactly as shown on their website and the attention to detail is impressive. From the thoughtful provision of water & little snacks, to the handheld steamer and lovely toiletries, it’s well worth the money. There is separate parking for hotel guests. Dinner on the terrace was charming with fabulous views over the garden and treetops of Tunbridge Wells (well, its outskirts). The wait staff are a group of very friendly & helpful young people. It’s on the high street of Tunbridge Wells and you go up some stairs and you reach the restaurant level. It’s got a balcony and really lovely views of the high street. We were greeted with a beautiful smile form a young lady that was very happy passionate and welcoming. She designated a very nice table with a good view by the window overlooking the best view. The fish was fresh and a good quality. Serving sizes are extremely generous. The service was attentive and friendly. Possibly a little rushed.The dining room is a bit noisy with horigotatsu seating. Beware of the black truffles, the restaurant is keen on them. Not a flavour I associate with sushi. The chefs sashimi platter was excellent. The Hamachi (My favourite) Melted in your mouth.The softshell crab Tamaki was delicious, even though it was missing the cucumber and carrots. We would have enjoyed more variety in the raw fish rolls with fresh veg. With all that being said, we walked away satisfied and happy!

Most of the staff are very efficient and nice (although sadly there is one who can be a bit of an acquired taste depending on what mood they are in). Perhaps it does not bother others so much? Later in the evening seems to be a very young crowd who are clearly imbibing large amounts of cocaine or other similar substances. Rowdy and sometimes intimidating if you’re an older person or even just someone who does not partake in that sort of thing. Overall a good pub but we sometimes will go somewhere else depending on what the other customers are getting up to. Appreciate that it’s a tricky thing to control though.

Mains: Gnocchi - this is the most authentic gnocchi I’ve had since Rome, it was amazing. Cheesy, full of flavour and the tomato sauce was one of the best I’ve had. We came for a birthday dinner and I couldn’t fault a thing. The servers were really attentive and did everything to ensure we had a lovely night. They also took great care over allergen requirements- they made sure we knew the allergens in each dish we ordered. The food was all delicious and the cocktails were impressive.
