My first visit to Manito Park was in the Fall of 2004 when my husband and I were newlyweds. After many moves to different states and several years later, life brought us back to where our lives began together in Spokane. We love visiting the many gardens as a family with our sons. We hung out at Riverfront Park on a Thursday evening and had an awesome time! Rented some Lime scooters and cruised around as the sun was setting — such a pretty time to be there. We slowly meandered to the end of the gravel road and parked in a small parking lot. Path leads gently downhill beside a small stream (tributary of the Spokane River). This area is always so clean and beautiful every time I visit. The playground is surrounded by a vast grass great for letting kids run wild. Dogs are required to be leashed. There a several trail options of varying distances. Also wooden "stairs" (for lack of better term) in areas where assistance may be needed to get up/downhill. The parking area is a barrage of potholes but if you drive slow it's no big deal regardless of what you drive. Some trails are currently closed due to some forest fire prevention logging going on.

A beginner can do this hike could also get easily lost if you are not directionally aware. The views were pretty the hike was gorgeous. Get a good view of Spokane at one point. I went almost 5 miles but I also didnt stay on the main trail. This place is absolutely breathtaking taking and only a 15 - 20 minute drive from Spokane. The views are breathtaking as are the trails. I saw lots of people walking their dogs on leash as well as riding their bikes through the trails. Plenty of parking there is even a camp ground. Definitely a beautiful place to come explore. Sites one through 18 are on the river and much more spacious and have full utilities. We enjoyed the beauty of the Spokane River, walking across the suspension bridge and hiking the trails. Enjoyed the short and at times steep trail to the big rock. My dog and my sister made the trip with me. Seems to be a popular spot for rock climbing, and hiking. Signs were up for recent bear activity, we saw nothing. The foggy conditions made it a nice Halloween ish vibe to the hike. Palisades Park Outer Loop - 4.3 Miles
This was a pretty crowded trail parking wise but didn’t really encounter many people on the trail itself. Once I found parking the trail was easy to find and follow. Very well marked and easy to navigate with many options to extend or shorten your hike. The trail was kinda bland and boring but still a great hiking trail. This is an excellent trail system with variation between wide open meadows and forested single track. Fun to run around and explore but I wish there were a couple smaller map signs throughout for navigation. Plenty of people out enjoying it for dog walking and disc golfing. We loved this hike. You do need a Discovery Pass stop park but they're is a kiosk by the ranger station at the entrance to the camping ground and parking for hiking where you can purchase one so no worries there. There is water at the entrance to the trail from the parking lot so you can fill up. They're was no water in the trail I found. The majority of the trails are full or partial sun so I can get hot but there are places just off the trail to get in the shade. Not a lot of water access once you get started but there are places where you can see the river and get close. The suspension bridge is very fun to walk on, bouncy even. Jogging or off road strollers would probably do ok once you get up above the stairs at the beginning of the trails after the bridge. The main trail is wide and relatively smooth. Small wheeled strollers would likely get stuck in all the rocks and be hard to push so save yourself the frustration. Only saw one bench along the way this time but lots of big rocks or clear ground to rest on. Later in the summer all the berry bushes will be full of fruit and would make for a juicy hike. We saw trail runners, bikers, hikers, and families like us in the trails. Will definitely be coming back. And there is a nice camp ground, I think I saw $10/night and campers there too not sure what their price was or if there were hook ups.

Bring your Washington state park discover pass though. 33 dollars a year is a bargain to access this park and every other state park. Best kept field in the league, concessions on the outer concourse and in stadium are are great, multiple bathrooms that are well kept, players are very friendly and the crowd interaction in fun for everyone. I typically come here every time I’m in town regardless of the season though the flowers really make this place special. Built as a sort of English Garden type set up, everything is perfectly arranged and symmetrical, which is amazing. The rose section is fabulous but I like the other side better. Plus, we went into the greenhouse for the first time and I can’t believe I had never been inside before. It’s fantastic. If you pay close attention, there are a few plaques nearby that give insight into some ugly history about this area featuring a past zoo with animals chained up.

I’ve never played the disc golf course; I’ve only ridden the mtb trails, but I hear that is excellent too. Gorgeous little park! I loved all the different trees, bushes and plants. Such a relaxing and quiet place where u can escape to for some relaxing time. I loved that there are lots of benches everywhere, I loved that there is a stream that runs through this park, it gives this perfect finish touch. Lots of area to walk around and take pic. Unfortunately because the park is in the middle of the city u could hear constant traffic moving and that doesn’t let u get the full feel of being outdoors in a wild. I wanted to sit there in quietness and just listen to the nature but that’s not possible because of the constant noice of traffic which is so annoying because sometimes we all want to escape the city and find ur self somewhere quiet and restore ur peace with out having to travel to forest but other then that this park has impressed me. Definitely made top of my list for a place to visit!

LOVE this cozy little wine bar. The ambiance is great, the Dungeness Crab dip with Cougar Gold Cheese is phenomenal (I could eat it by the spoonful), and the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
