The day before we had eaten breakfast in the restaurant, which incurred a £5 per head fee. Sadly the kippers on that occasion were disappointing, but the evening meal fish and chips were tremendous! We had been to a nearby restaurant the night before, but hadn't been able to partake, due to the fish being cooked in traditional beef dripping. The restaurant bar area has a wonderful feel. Firstly, I have to say the staff here were friendly and were working incredibly hard. They decorated for Halloween and the place looked great. The “skin on fries” were just cheap frozen skinny fries (and certainly had no skin) and the burgers and veggie chilli dog were frozen with too much bread for the fillings. It tasted nothing like chilli, no heat and no seasoning and the lentils were a little crunchy which was odd. For 4 of us the bill was just under £100 for a main meal and a drink each so it was not exactly cheap either. We were pretty surprised at how bad it was given the rave reviews. We had waited so long and were so hungry by the time the food came, we didn’t complain and ate what we could to fill up.
