Riverwood Conservancy is a 150-acre green space along the Credit River in the heart of Mississauga. The conservancy was established in the1980’s with the purpose to sustain, conserve and protect the wildlife and green space within the city. My favourite spot is MacEwan Terrace, a gorgeous flower garden with hundreds of species with a recent addition of a new dock over some wetlands.
Riverwood is rich in history and agriculture and honours its commitment to conservation, sustainability and education. It acknowledges its First Nations contributions and is home to historical artifacts, learning centers and several heritage sites including Chappell House, the Field Station and the MacEwan Barn. It has a number of sensory gardens which encourages touching and exploring nature for oneself and hosts a variety of events and activities like birding lessons, yoga in the park, and art classes at Visual Arts Mississauga. Entry and parking are free, and the park is open all year round. There are washrooms located in Visual Arts Mississauga building which is accessible at street level and there are garbage and recycling bins throughout the park to help keep it clean. They pulled and pushed me up the hills and brought me to my car and made sure I was safe and taken care of. They also gave me ice packs for my swollen ankle. It’s a perfect place for a walk if you want to reconnect with nature without driving hours out of the city. A hidden gem in Mississauga! It’s a beautiful conservation area with a long boardwalk over the marshes. You can follow the boardwalk all the way to a shingle beach. The beach is fairly long with lovely views of the Toronto skyline. It’s a peaceful place; even on the weekend it was not busy.

Beautiful park! Took the stroller and did the most of the Waterfront Trail, the Knoll Trail and Silver Maple Trail. I would say the Knoll Trail was best for the stroller as it was almost all boardwalk. The Silver Maple Trail had parts where it was less flat / maintained, with tree roots and such, making it a bit harder without a proper jogging stroller. There was a couple of small steps where the Waterfront Trail connected to the Silver Maple Trail, as well. No entrance fees or tickets needed. Overall the park is gorgeous, the trails are well maintained and it is a great spot for hiking!

Really pristine and lush conservation area. Multiple picnic areas, a beautiful and serene river that runs along, lot of vegetation makes this a perfect space for any kind of outing.
The picnic areas are especially large so even with bigger crowds, you will not get the feeling of being congested. You can set up your barbeques here as well, we saw a few of them. Be it with friend or family, both kind of groups can enjoy here.
The trail is also interesting here, did not completely cover it but was surrounded well with the forest area.

If you look across the street from the parking lot there is a pathway with a bench and a garbage can as you can see this is the entrance to the sawmill park path and also connects to the SawMill Valley trail path connected as one conjoined path. Roughly it took me 16-17 minutes long to walk from the one entrance path to the other and the whole path overall as said up above 25mins roughly.

This is a very accessible park east of Toronto. Very friendly staff. Facilities were very clean. The tent pitch was well maintained with a fire pit and seated bench. This park is a gem for camping and day picnic located in heart of the city. You never imagine you can find a very peaceful and beautiful place right in the buzz of city.
Its located off QEW in Oackville and it is huge in terms of green space. We used the day pass and were amazed by the nature and how huge the spce is. You can easily find a quiet picnic spot with lots of benches and washrooms close by.
There are a couple fun activities included as well, like the barn and the pool which was still closed, for kids and families.
There is also plenty of small playgrounds close to each picnic section for kids. The trails are super nice for hikers and bikers.
The parking spce is also very spacious and easy to find a spot. The only thing is washrooms could be cleaner as you pay for a pass and its not free, this raises the expectations of cleanliness. Overall, the picnic areaswere super clean.
Overall, this was a super fun picnic exerience we had and I will be coming back here soon.

The intermediate trails definitely not for anyone with mobility challenges. I do feel it important to call out that there was about 5 persons on bikes that were incredibly selfish in coming down the trail at a speed that children and older adults with more limited mobility could be seriously injured just to not being able to clear the way as quickly. A word of caution for those walking this trail...on some of the downhill trails your aware as some bike riders were not as polite in when sharing these trails.

Its a 10km of natural trail with a diverse population of birds. There are some amazing views of Toronto skyline around the corners. It is really a popular escape into the nature in the middle of the city.
These are dirt trails and includes some steeo sections and is rated as intermediate level trails.
There are other trails around to explore as well like the Sun Valley Trail and the Cottonwood Flats Trail. You could see the pictures uploaded along with the review. I have covered all these trails along with the Lower Don Parklands.
Parking is available with the Loblaws and Starbucks. There are restrooms you can use there or buy something to eat on your trail.
Dogs are allowed. Trails are suitable for all age groups be it children or elders or even older people. There are bike trails also available. You could see the dog walkers along the trail. The Don river just gives a picturesque landscape to the whole trail. There are hills and trees all around. There is an abandoned railway line bridge on top of the river with some cool graffiti.
It is also known for mountain biking. So get your MTBs and helmets and get set going. Overall, it was a nice experience and we did this in fall. Can't wait for the spring to go there again for all the colors.

We discovered this park while in the area and have been a couple of times now, at different times of the year. It is a fairly well kept oasis in the concrete jungle of Toronto. Besides the walking trails and beaches, what is truly spectacular are the views of downtown Toronto. We were here one evening and were able to see the plane land at Billy Bishop Airport that our pickup person was on (the last pic), with the perfect amount of time to then go and collect them. I have two dogs –a corgi and a labrottie– and this is our 'go to' off-leash destination of choice. We probably go here at least 3-4 times a week. The best thing about the Etobicoke Valley Off Leash Dog Park is that once you go through the gate it's totally off-leash...no worries at all. The other dog owners are friendly and the other dogs are well behaved. There is virtually no trash to be found. The beaches are fantastic. The meadow is wide, with lots of room for the dogs to run and wrestle. And the forested areas hide plenty of things for the dogs to find ie SQUIRRELS. This park is incredible! A GTA gem, it is entirely leash-free and features beautiful forest trails that frequently run along Etobicoke Creek. Your dog can explore the bushes and trails and jump into the water to swim and cool down. While I love the High Park trails, they can be quite busy and are very obviously maintained. Etobicoke Creek is great if you want to get lost in nature for a bit - you'd never know you were in the middle of a city!
While it is frequented by other people and their dogs, most are also walking the trails so you can either linger and play or continue walking and get a workout for yourself in. I highly recommend walking the trails until the end of the park - they boast a great view!
One note, the only garbage cans are at the beginning of the trail so be prepared to carry your garbage (and poop bags!) with you! Do not litter! Also, the trails narrow in some areas (right alongside the creek) and can be treacherous when muddy or icy. The creek also swells - especially in the spring - and the bugs can be brutal in summer. This is one of my favourite parks in the city! I first went there many years ago before the buildings were restored as part of a field trip. I learned about the wonderful geological features, like fossils of trilobites and even a giant beaver! However, the beautiful wetlands were what captured my heart. Love Don Valley Brick Works Park and I visit each week. Especially now in October with fall here and all the amazing colors. No matter how many times I have visited, walked around all the buildings and trails I see something new each and every time. Perfect area and safe for families and children. In recent years, the path was expanded and widen.
The "best" parts are next to the ponds near the Brickwork factory where they also hold a weekly farmers' market every Saturday (not in wunter).

Fall colors were gorgeous, and despite hundreds of people out there, it didn't really feel congested. This place is a little gem so close to an urban area. It has a lot of options for everyone. There are trails of varying degrees of difficulty, well manicured gardens, an art centre with galleries, art and cultural events… and then there’s the wildlife!! So many beautiful birds.

I’m not quite sure where I fall on this one; its one of those areas that I like to say “provide a semblance of nature”
The good: plenty of dirt trails and litter did not seem to be too much of an issue…
The area suffers from overuse, though (its telling that the squirrel in the picture did not even flinch, indicating how accustomed it is to human presence), with evidence of erosion (has no one ever heard of switchbacks?) - plenty of mountain bike tracks too, likely indicating that this may not be helping.
There were many off leash dogs and people talking quite loudly on cell phones - not really conducive to being “one with nature” either; nor did the loudness of the hwy traffic help, which in some parts of the trail was deafening.
Take my opinion for what it is, but I won’t be back to this area; there are plenty of other areas in Mississauga that are more naturalized (read my other reviews)…
Nice try though - lets hope this area benefits the local flora and fauna more than it did me.

A great trail with different branches, but the main trail is a loop.
Takes you along the creek where salmon swim and even under pass of the 403 highway. A great stroll with chipmunks, various birds and even ducks and other fowl. You'll see trees that have fallen by beaver activity.
Expect paved and unpaved areas. Some spots have significant erosion due to the hilly side.
Bird feeders along the way.
Certain areas with tall trees offer canopy.

Another oasis of green in the City of Mississauga. Natural surroundings untouched by human hand make the trail a great one to be part of nature. It may not be as well maintained as the Culham Trail but for someone looking to get out of the buzz of city life and into nature, this has a lot to offer.
The only concern were the various signs along the trail that warned of coyotes possibly entering the trail. Not that we saw any during our walk but the signs sure made our hair stand on edge. And our ears keen to listen to any "rustling noise" that may forwarn us of an impending coyote run-in.
