On entering we chose a table away from the door ( can be chilly). We noticed on the specials menu that the soup of the day was Mushroom, ( one of our favourites, so we both plumped for that). I went to the counter and ordered our meal, 2 soups and 2 flat White coffees £21. The waitress brought over our utensils and condiments, quickly followed by our coffee. The soup was delicious, not to thick, well seasoned and with a deep mushroom flavour. We both cleaned our bowls and agreed it was one of the best mushroom soup’s we had had. The only negative, is the building is quite cold and a lot of the customers keep their coats on while eating, I imagine this is only an issue in the winter, but does detract from the atmosphere slightly. The quality of the food and the reasonable price certainly means we will visit again when taking the route across country.

The Lunesdale arms is closed Monday and Tuesday so we visited on a Wednesday evening following some positive reviews and we weren't disappointed.
