Ibirapuera Park is a renowned urban park in Sao Paulo, often compared to Central Park. It offers a serene escape from the bustling city, with beautiful landscaping and architecture designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The park features museums, a planetarium, auditoriums, and recreational areas with bike paths and courts. Despite being highly urbanized, it provides an opportunity to experience Brazilian nature with diverse native fauna and flora.
Went to Sao Paulo for work and visited this park. Its a perfect oasis in middle of bustling traffic muddled city. It has few lakes, jogging tracks and cycling tracks. Wonderful views of city skyline. Museum entrance is also near gate 10. Small kiosks all around the park selling coconut water and other refreshments.
Jaimin G — Google review
Largest park in the city, it has nice roads for running and walking along with bicycle lines. It has a lake with River with plenty of grass areas to just sit and relax. We enjoyed it in a sunny day on Sunday and lots of people go to exercise and work out. Lots of local people just enjoying with their families Park has plenty of small stores to get snacks, water and natural coconut water which is great, however did not see a larger restaurant to get meals, just mobile spots for quick grab and go. There are public bathroom but can get crowded Green areas and well maintained although they could be better, trees are mostly tropical. There is a museum, planetary and Japanese site but did not go to those.
Living P — Google review
I truly had a memorable day here, filled with joy and discovery. The blend of sport, leisure, and art offered a warm, inviting atmosphere that made me feel nice. Don't miss the Biennale; it's a cool experience. Take a leisurely jog among the locals and relax by sipping fresh coconut milk straight from its shell—simple moments that can bring so much joy.
Máté S — Google review
We really enjoyed this park, went there for the visit one day and went back and walked almost around the entire loop. Love all the birds, ducks, Ingrids and other spices. We really enjoyed watching all the people get involved in different activities and plenty to do there for all ages, but I really loved looking at the fauna and the flora. The trees were incredible. I WOULD RECOMMEND
Cindy L — Google review
It’s an absolute pleasure to walk in this park but keep in mind it’s huge. Plenty of cafes and shops to buy a fresh coconut or any other drinks, lots of bench’s to sit and relax or just watch people performing different instruments in the nature. I saw a lot of families spending time here with kids or having a meal. Definetly worth walking around
Gabriela B — Google review
Lovely park with varied green spaces, you can hire a bike or quad style bike with separated lanes. There are plenty of stands for snacks and the ever present coconut water. There is a japanese garden and a planetarium and art gallery all located inside the park. Loads to do you can easily spend a whole day here.
Shenol L — Google review
I have to say this is one of the best parks I've ever been to. From coconut water stands, to acai spots, and great running tracks. A great place for grounding in a concrete jungle.

Museums
The Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, also known as MASP, is an iconic building that houses one of Latin America's most important art collections. Designed by Lina Bo Bardi in the mid-1960s, this glass-and-concrete gem is located on Avenida Paulista and offers a wonderful collection of European and Latin American art.
The Museum of São Paulo is a great place to spend a few hours if you enjoy history and culture. The exhibits cover many aspects of Brazil’s past and present, but the highlight for me was the art on the second floor focused on racism. It is powerful, emotional, and thought-provoking—something everyone should see. The museum is well-organized, easy to walk through, and gives you a deeper understanding of the city and its people. Definitely worth a visit.
Gaurav J — Google review
The long, Brutalist structure looms over Paulista Avenue, its weighty monumental form seemingly suspended on flaming-red concrete piers. More than just architecture, it’s an urban sculpture—bold, functional, and commanding. Beneath its vast undercroft, a public plaza unfolds, a space carved from the very air it hovers over. The top floor houses the museum’s permanent collection—where space and display become their own form of functional art. Hundreds of paintings—modern, avant-garde, contemporary, and classical—seem to float on crystal easels, creating an eerie, almost transcendental effect. This unconventional display allows viewers to see both the front and back of each piece, transforming them from static, two-dimensional works into dynamic, almost sculptural objects. It’s an experience that feels refreshingly out of the box. This museum is idiosyncratic and breathtaking at the same time. Highly recommended.
Eddie C — Google review
This might be the most exciting fine art museum I’ve ever seen — and not because of its extraordinary collection, but because of how the artworks are presented. Take a moment to read about why the architect chose to display them this way — it’s truly unique, and the experience stays with you long after you leave.
Máté S — Google review
Third time here, always a great experience. Tons of art from different time periods and cool exhibitions, and I love how the permanent collection in the “original” museum on the top floor is staged in clear boxes. Worth going every day but especially when free on Tuesdays!!!
Christian C — Google review
A great museum to visit in Sao Paulo. If you just have time only for one museum this should be the one. A stunning architectural structure by the modernist Italian born Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi finished in 1968. In the first and second floor the paintings are just hold by a very clever glass structure which makes them look like they are swing from above. The glass structure gives you also to see the back of the painting and enjoy the piece of art from every side. A very unique display and I must say the best way you can present paintings. A beautiful must see museum of Art which accommodates Picasso, Mattisse, Monet, El Greco, Velasquez, Rubens, Tintoretto, Max Ernst and many more.
Marios T — Google review
It's nice museum and worth visiting, only I think they could put little bit more things there.
Jallal — Google review
Perhaps the most iconic building of São Paulo, Lina Bo Bardi’s MASP was a total shock when it was constructed in the 1960’s. The unparalleled design mixes a suspended main body which frees up space for a public plaza which serves as well as the roof for two more floors that opens to the opposite side of Avenida Paulista. The iconic open space of the second floor’s gallery once again holds the Works of art in glass and concrete bases.
Carlos O — Google review
It's huge! A well done museum. They have a permanent exhibit upstairs and some seasonal exhibits on other floors. When I was there, the temporary exhibits were amazing wooden sculptures and Monet. 💸Buy your tickets ahead of time. Somehow we got in for free on a Friday night, but wr aren't sure if it was a special day or a menu option, so check around the ordering website.

(Translated by Google) I felt like I had gone back in time. Since I had just had lunch, I only had an espresso (good quality) and ate a delicious mini honey bread with a liqueur filling (they come in 5 flavors). I thought the price was very reasonable. The service was very good. One problem I found was that people smoke on the sidewalk next to the door and the smell ends up coming in. I plan on going back when I go to São Paulo to try the menu.

Business center
Shopping Eldorado, established in 1981, has become one of the top shopping destinations in Sao Paulo due to its relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. With over 300 stores featuring both national and international brands, including six anchor stores and seven mega-stores, it offers a diverse shopping experience. Additionally, the complex boasts a unique culinary experience with 20 restaurants and 28 dining options in the food court. The mall also features a multiplex cinema, a gym, and hosts various temporary events.
This is your typical massive everything under one roof shopping mall. You really will find everything you need here, except disappointingly, Brazilian souvenirs. All the major retailers have a presence here. Just remember that on Sundays it's closed. Some select stores and restaurants open in the evening though.

The Piques Obelisk, located in Largo da Memoria in the central area of Sao Paulo, is a historic monument erected in 1814 by Vicentinho. It stands as the oldest monument in the city and is accompanied by the Chafariz do Piques built in the same year. However, it has been noted that this landmark, with over 200 years of history, lacks maintenance and care. Visitors are advised to be cautious about potential robberies at this site.
Beautiful monument. Sad that it has been allowed to decay but with so many hungry people who can feed the statues?

Dirt and disgusting.
Daniel D — Google review
(Translated by Google) Centennial tree🌳 The Piques Obelisk is a monument located in Largo da Memória, central area of the city of São Paulo. It is the oldest monument in the city, erected in 1814 by “Vicentinho”, nickname for Vicente Gomes Pereira, a Portuguese master builder. In the same year, the Chafariz do Piques was built, located at the bottom of it. The work was built under the guidance of Marshal Daniel Pedro Müller, a military engineer, and was initially located in the water that formed a basin. It was commissioned by the Count of Palma in honor of governor Bernardo José de Lorena. The marshal also led the construction of the Pique fountain and the old Carmo bridge. The work carved into light gray granite rock was restored in 2005 by a private company. Home » Largo do Piques and the Obelisk In the place now surrounded by skyscrapers, which is now called Praça da Bandeira, there was once a square called “Largo da Memória”, a name given by the City Council. The people, however, started calling him Piques. Largo Piques and, further back, the obelisk and the wall Piques was the edge of the city, next to a field where there was a small chapel under the patronage of Nossa Senhora da Consolação. This resulted in the name of a neighborhood, a cemetery and a street. On the slope, today called Rua Quirino de Andrade, there was a gate and, after it, the Itu path lined with fields. Largo do Piques was a kind of basin or bottom of a hole, with the Anhangabau stream (Rio do Diabo) passing through it. There, over the stream, governor Lorena*¹ had ordered the construction of a small bridge, called “Ponte do Lorena”, in 1794. Just below, in the vicinity of the current Praça do Correio, another bridge had been built over the stream: the “Ponte do Açu”, Anhangabau de Baixo. In the part of what was then called Anhangabau de Cima, the land rose to the current Rua Xavier de Toledo and ended in a large ravine, later called “O Paredão”*². Fraction of a São Paulo map from 1814 – Inside the red circle is the region described in this article. In 1814, the Marquis of São João da Palma occupied the government of São Paulo, replacing the government of a governing board, formed by Bishop D. Mateus Pereira, by the ombudsman Dr. Nuno de Locio and the squad leader Miguel de Oliveira Pinto. With the end of this provisional government, a terrible drought that had devastated São Paulo's agriculture also ended. The new government then determined that with material that was abandoned near the Lorena bridge (old stones and iron), the military engineer (later marshal ) Daniel Pedro Muller ordered the erection of an obelisk, as a reminder of the end of the famous drought of 1814 and the normalization of the São Paulo government. São Paulo, that year, stopped being governed by an administrative board to be governed by a governor. And so, in 1814, the obelisk was inaugurated, without a party, without a ceremony, without the presence of authorities, by a public official who, among half a dozen curious onlookers, handed it over to the municipality. And the square, in which the obelisk stood, made as a souvenir, was named Largo da Memória, given by the City Council. The people, seeing that that obelisk resembled a spearhead piercing space, began to call it a “pike” instead of an obelisk or pyramid. The square, which was originally called “Largo da Ponte”, was named Largo da Memória. However, it was known from an early age as Largo do Pique, later changed to Largo do Piques. The obelisk was built by bricklayer Vicente Pereira, in 1814, under the supervision of military engineer Daniel Muller, and was renovated and beautified as it is today, by the municipal government of Washington Luís, in 1921. The slave trade in Largo do Piques took place on Saturdays Remember that there was a slave market in that place, in times gone by. The owners of black or mulatto people, when they wanted to sell them, took them to Largo do Piques, where, on Saturdays, there were auctions and the buying and selling of enslaved people. Slaves were considered merchandise and were called “pieces”.
