Ibirapuera Park is a renowned urban park in Sao Paulo, often compared to Central Park. It offers a serene escape from the bustling city, with beautiful landscaping and architecture designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The park features museums, a planetarium, auditoriums, and recreational areas with bike paths and courts. Despite being highly urbanized, it provides an opportunity to experience Brazilian nature with diverse native fauna and flora.
Went to Sao Paulo for work and visited this park. Its a perfect oasis in middle of bustling traffic muddled city. It has few lakes, jogging tracks and cycling tracks. Wonderful views of city skyline. Museum entrance is also near gate 10. Small kiosks all around the park selling coconut water and other refreshments.
Jaimin G — Google review
Largest park in the city, it has nice roads for running and walking along with bicycle lines. It has a lake with River with plenty of grass areas to just sit and relax. We enjoyed it in a sunny day on Sunday and lots of people go to exercise and work out. Lots of local people just enjoying with their families Park has plenty of small stores to get snacks, water and natural coconut water which is great, however did not see a larger restaurant to get meals, just mobile spots for quick grab and go. There are public bathroom but can get crowded Green areas and well maintained although they could be better, trees are mostly tropical. There is a museum, planetary and Japanese site but did not go to those.
Living P — Google review
I truly had a memorable day here, filled with joy and discovery. The blend of sport, leisure, and art offered a warm, inviting atmosphere that made me feel nice. Don't miss the Biennale; it's a cool experience. Take a leisurely jog among the locals and relax by sipping fresh coconut milk straight from its shell—simple moments that can bring so much joy.
Máté S — Google review
We really enjoyed this park, went there for the visit one day and went back and walked almost around the entire loop. Love all the birds, ducks, Ingrids and other spices. We really enjoyed watching all the people get involved in different activities and plenty to do there for all ages, but I really loved looking at the fauna and the flora. The trees were incredible. I WOULD RECOMMEND
Cindy L — Google review
It’s an absolute pleasure to walk in this park but keep in mind it’s huge. Plenty of cafes and shops to buy a fresh coconut or any other drinks, lots of bench’s to sit and relax or just watch people performing different instruments in the nature. I saw a lot of families spending time here with kids or having a meal. Definetly worth walking around
Gabriela B — Google review
Lovely park with varied green spaces, you can hire a bike or quad style bike with separated lanes. There are plenty of stands for snacks and the ever present coconut water. There is a japanese garden and a planetarium and art gallery all located inside the park. Loads to do you can easily spend a whole day here.
Shenol L — Google review
I have to say this is one of the best parks I've ever been to. From coconut water stands, to acai spots, and great running tracks. A great place for grounding in a concrete jungle.

Ona warm Sunday, the park is a giant playground for adults and kids alike. Crowded and friendly a great place to just hang out

Beco do Batman, also known as Batman Alley, is a vibrant and compact area in Vila Madalena, Sao Paulo. It is famous for its cobbled alleyways adorned with colorful graffiti art. This spot boasts the highest concentration of street art in the city, featuring various styles from renowned Brazilian artists like Eduardo Kobra and Os Gemeos.
This was a pleasant surprise. This area was on our list of places to visit while in São Paulo but was low on our list. We finally visited on our last day as a “time killer” before the airport. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Fun neighborhood with great energy, fun art everywhere and good food options. We visited during the week and mid day. It was not busy and very comfortable. I would recommend it.
Scott M — Google review
Beco do Batman in Vila Madalena is a must-see if you like street art or just want to feel São Paulo’s creative pulse. It’s not big—just a few alleys—but every wall is alive with murals that change constantly. Some are loud and political, others just wild bursts of color. The art isn’t locked behind glass; it’s raw, textured, and right at your fingertips. It can get crowded, especially on weekends when photographers, tourists, and live painters all pack the space. But that’s part of the vibe—it feels more like a living, breathing gallery than a tourist stop. Go early in the morning if you want cleaner shots and fewer people. Good shoes help on the cobblestones.
Gaurav J — Google review
I visited Beco do Batman last weekend with two co-workers, and it was such a memorable experience. The entire alley is alive with color, energy, and creativity—every wall is covered in incredible street art that feels more like an open-air gallery than just graffiti. We spent a lot of time wandering, taking photos, and just admiring the constantly changing artwork. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming, with locals and visitors mingling, and plenty of small cafés and bars nearby to grab a drink afterward. It’s also easy to explore on foot, and you’ll find new details around every corner. If you’re in São Paulo, I’d absolutely recommend adding Beco do Batman to your list. It’s not just sightseeing—it’s an experience that captures the city’s artistic spirit in such a fun way.
Norm N — Google review
Beco do Batman is an incredible open-air gallery and one of São Paulo’s most vibrant attractions. The walls are covered with ever-changing street art, showcasing everything from bold graffiti to detailed murals, making every visit feel unique. It’s a fantastic place to walk around, take photos, and appreciate the creativity and talent of local and international artists. The neighborhood also has plenty of cool cafés and shops nearby, which adds to the experience. A must-see spot for anyone visiting São Paulo!
Jason O — Google review
Cool area with lots of food stalls and interesting bars on the street. It gets very busy but definitely worth a visit and sit outside to watch the world go by.
Justin — Google review
A definite must-visit in Sao. The street art is absolutely amazing and there are a few bars where ypu cna chill and relax. Make sure you visit early in the morning as it can get crowded later during the day.

Mercado Municipal is a vibrant cultural hub in São Paulo, offering a variety of cultural centers, exhibition halls, and music venues to explore. After immersing yourself in the city's artistic scene, head to Avenida Paulista and take the Yellow line to Luz station. From there, it's just a brief 10-minute walk to reach Mercado Municipal where you can satisfy your hunger with an array of delicious food options.

If you wanted to eat at the market and if you come by this entrance you won't be able to eat anymore... Museu Afro Brasil, housed in an impressive Oscar Niemeyer building within Ibirapuera Park, is the world's largest museum dedicated to the African diaspora in Brazil. The museum's extensive collection of over 6,000 artifacts and works of art spans more than five centuries of cultural exchange between Africa and the Americas. Curated by scholar and artist Emanoel Araujo, it offers a deep dive into Brazil's history with a focus on its African heritage.
Unbelievably beautiful. A connection to history. A trip full of emotions. Very clean and organized, the entry cost me 15 R, the people are very kind and helpful. You can't take flash pictures and videos. The souvenir store has great things and prices.
Leslie A — Google review
I was absolutely blown away by this museum! I never imagined it was so amazing, with a huge and well curated collection and so much history. It is a place worth visiting, at least once. It is also very easy to park inside Ibirapuera Park, but you can also take Uber or public transportation. Worth a day off!
Gabriela N — Google review
One of the best museums to learn about African history globally. I learnt many things about African history, culture, religions, art and their experience of getting enslaved and colonised. In particular this place deserves applause for promoting African art in brazil and highlighting the deep impact African culture has had on brazilian culture

Better than I expected . Actually significant prices and breadth of history. We'll curated. Definitely check it out while at the park.

Museums
The Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, also known as MASP, is an iconic building that houses one of Latin America's most important art collections. Designed by Lina Bo Bardi in the mid-1960s, this glass-and-concrete gem is located on Avenida Paulista and offers a wonderful collection of European and Latin American art.
The Museum of São Paulo is a great place to spend a few hours if you enjoy history and culture. The exhibits cover many aspects of Brazil’s past and present, but the highlight for me was the art on the second floor focused on racism. It is powerful, emotional, and thought-provoking—something everyone should see. The museum is well-organized, easy to walk through, and gives you a deeper understanding of the city and its people. Definitely worth a visit.
Gaurav J — Google review
The long, Brutalist structure looms over Paulista Avenue, its weighty monumental form seemingly suspended on flaming-red concrete piers. More than just architecture, it’s an urban sculpture—bold, functional, and commanding. Beneath its vast undercroft, a public plaza unfolds, a space carved from the very air it hovers over. The top floor houses the museum’s permanent collection—where space and display become their own form of functional art. Hundreds of paintings—modern, avant-garde, contemporary, and classical—seem to float on crystal easels, creating an eerie, almost transcendental effect. This unconventional display allows viewers to see both the front and back of each piece, transforming them from static, two-dimensional works into dynamic, almost sculptural objects. It’s an experience that feels refreshingly out of the box. This museum is idiosyncratic and breathtaking at the same time. Highly recommended.
Eddie C — Google review
This might be the most exciting fine art museum I’ve ever seen — and not because of its extraordinary collection, but because of how the artworks are presented. Take a moment to read about why the architect chose to display them this way — it’s truly unique, and the experience stays with you long after you leave.
Máté S — Google review
Third time here, always a great experience. Tons of art from different time periods and cool exhibitions, and I love how the permanent collection in the “original” museum on the top floor is staged in clear boxes. Worth going every day but especially when free on Tuesdays!!!
Christian C — Google review
A great museum to visit in Sao Paulo. If you just have time only for one museum this should be the one. A stunning architectural structure by the modernist Italian born Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi finished in 1968. In the first and second floor the paintings are just hold by a very clever glass structure which makes them look like they are swing from above. The glass structure gives you also to see the back of the painting and enjoy the piece of art from every side. A very unique display and I must say the best way you can present paintings. A beautiful must see museum of Art which accommodates Picasso, Mattisse, Monet, El Greco, Velasquez, Rubens, Tintoretto, Max Ernst and many more.
Marios T — Google review
It's nice museum and worth visiting, only I think they could put little bit more things there.
Jallal — Google review
Perhaps the most iconic building of São Paulo, Lina Bo Bardi’s MASP was a total shock when it was constructed in the 1960’s. The unparalleled design mixes a suspended main body which frees up space for a public plaza which serves as well as the roof for two more floors that opens to the opposite side of Avenida Paulista. The iconic open space of the second floor’s gallery once again holds the Works of art in glass and concrete bases.
Carlos O — Google review
It's huge! A well done museum. They have a permanent exhibit upstairs and some seasonal exhibits on other floors. When I was there, the temporary exhibits were amazing wooden sculptures and Monet. 💸Buy your tickets ahead of time. Somehow we got in for free on a Friday night, but wr aren't sure if it was a special day or a menu option, so check around the ordering website.

The Catedral Metropolitana da Sé de São Paulo is a breathtaking neo-Gothic masterpiece that dominates the skyline of São Paulo. Constructed in the early 20th century, this monumental cathedral can accommodate up to 8,000 worshippers and visitors alike. Its stunning architecture features soaring spires and a Renaissance-style dome, making it an iconic landmark in Cathedral Square. Inside, you'll be mesmerized by exquisite stained glass windows sourced from France and Italy, which cast vibrant colors throughout the vast interior.
The Cathedral of was first started in 1589 in São Paulo Village. It has been demolished and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The current Cathedral was started in 1913 and completed in 1967. It's built with rare marble, granite, wood and stained glass. It has a dome shape entrance with a height of 92 meters. Better to visit with a guide.
Soudamini M — Google review
São Paulo Cathedral is a majestic neo-Gothic landmark in the heart of the city. Its soaring arches, intricate stained glass, and peaceful atmosphere offer a striking escape from the urban rush outside. Whether you’re into architecture, history, or just seeking a quiet moment, it’s well worth a visit.
Esrf G — Google review
It’s an impressive and beautiful landmark, worth visiting for its architecture and history. I recommend going with a local if possible as the surrounding area has a large homeless presence and I was approached by one person. That said, there was a visible police presence with about four police cars right in front of the cathedral which made me feel safer during the visit.
Marianne M — Google review
Sé Metropolitan Cathedral is definitely a spot worth checking out for anyone who loves to travel and explore historical landmarks. The front of the church is absolutely beautiful, it’s the kind of architecture that makes you pause and admire, especially if you're into photographing iconic places. It’s a must-visit for tourists and travel enthusiasts alike. That said, there are a couple of things that could really elevate the experience. The exterior colors have faded over time and the building would benefit from some maintenance to bring back its original charm. Inside, I found the lighting to be quite dim, which took away from the grandeur of the interior space. Aside from those issues, the rest of the experience is decent. If you’re in São Paulo and have an interest in churches or historical sites, it’s still worth a visit.
Sumit P — Google review
The cathedral itself is great, but there are a lot of homeless people around it. You should be mindful of the surroundings. The entrance to thr cathedral is free, which is also great.
Filip M — Google review
The São Paulo Metropolitan Cathedral, also known as Catedral da Sé, is located right in the city center of São Paulo. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, it recently underwent significant restoration to preserve its stunning neo-Gothic architecture. We just walked by and spent a few minutes inside, and the interior is truly majestic—full of intricate details and beautiful stained glass windows. From a distance, the cathedral’s twin spires and large dome make for a magnificent sight. Entry is free, and it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.
Andrew G — Google review
An impressive cathedral with stunning design and artwork. When I visited on a Sunday, entry was free. There were plenty of police around for security, but the atmosphere still felt calm and relaxed.

The museum features engaging exhibits on science and technology, making learning fun for both children and adults.
I was thoroughly impressed by this museum. I loved the ample amount of cheap parking, the huge outdoor area, the beautiful architecture of the buildings, the history of the place, etc. This place was very good for small children because they could move around much of the area unrestricted with a parent’s watchful supervision.

Absolutely brilliant and interesting inside out. You will find infos about transportation and how it evolved in time, replicas and real trains, planes. Inside you can check the wild nature based photography expo, be mesmerised by optic illusions, learning physics through games and experimenting or see the evolution and extinction of life on earth. There is also an anatomy section which describes the processes in the body and presents the human DNA at a huge scale.

Great museum and a positively surprising experience. Enjoyed learning about Brazil’s landscape and vegetation zones. Some experiments were also new to me. So all in all a pleasant afternoon.

The museum is incredible, with so many things to see! It's an ideal place for families due to the numerous interactive exhibits. The first floor is geared more towards children, while the second floor features plenty of reading materials, so I recommend it for ages 12+. The architecture is truly stunning. Just one tip: arrive early to have a better chance to explore and play with everything.

My family and I had a wonderful stay here. The kids enjoyed the dedicated play area and the swimming pool. The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs, even arranging a late check-out. The rooms were spacious and very clean, perfect for our family.

Amazing place! Free entrance on Tuesday! Can spend hours there. Has restaurants and water (free). Clean washrooms. Great place to learn and play for all ages. You will come out with more wisdom. Amazing from outside and inside.

We are a family of 6 (kids- 15, 13, 8 and 6 yrs old) and we all loved this interactive museum. Lots for the kids to engage with, and all set in beautiful surroundings. Was a little crowded on account of the tickets being free, but what a joy to be able to experience this gratis✨️

Good place to visit, but all the information is only in Portuguese. As is common in São Paulo, very few people speak English or Spanish, and they seem annoyed if you don’t understand. Even when the place is empty, you get the feeling you’re wasting their time.

São Paulo Botanical Garden, located within the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, is a sprawling 360,000 square feet rainforest housing 380 tree species for research and conservation. The garden boasts a diverse collection of 45,000 plants from various hot and tropical regions around the world.
It's amazing how many time it takes for Brazilians to buy a ticket at the ticket counter. But I think it is cultural... The botanical garden is nothing special to be honest. Actually, it looks like a park with some relics of what use to be a botanical garden. I was expecting wonderfull heliconias, bromelias and orchids, but unfortunately no big deal. The boardwalk was spectacular though. That's why it still earns 5*. We happened to see monkeys near the toilets in the back of the park.
Cornelis A — Google review
A very nice place with a lot of really beautiful plants and some interesting background information in form of a small museum. Perfect for a relaxed afternoon stroll. Takes about 2 hours to see the whole garden.

Nice garden to spend a couple of hours in the morning in June. Was hoping for more plants and descriptions but overall still good value if you are into botany. Found out late. Shuttle to zoo only for those that buy combo tickets. Also hard to find anyone that speaks even little English including ticket agent.

If you don't own a car, but you want to connect con nature. This is agreat place to go. It is a botanical garden located in a rest of Mata Atlantica forest. You may go by Uber or even by public transport.
Ulrich F — Google review
Absolutely beautiful oasis of peacefulness. The garden is very well maintained. Some areas are kept wild like the trail at the end of the garden, which adds to the atmosphere. There you can enjoy a piece of the Atlantic rainforest right in the heart of the city. Another great thing about this garden is that you can spot some wildlife, including monkeys and even toucans. Although rare, it took me three attempts to be able to see one, they can be spotted in the garden. I would recommend coming right when the garden opens and to look for fruiting palm trees. They generally mingle there.

Lush and grand. It was quiet with not many people on Friday afternoon. I could pay with credit card at the entrance. The light hit the pond just right. The bamboo forest was very shaded and cooling.

Parque Villa-Lobos, situated in the Alto de Pinheiros neighborhood, is a sprawling park that draws around 8,000 visitors on weekdays and up to 60,000 on weekends. Named after a renowned Brazilian composer, it spans 732,000 square meters and boasts a variety of attractions such as soccer fields, bike paths, playgrounds, an amphitheater and even a library.
Parque Villa-Lobos It was a great area to explore in Sao Paulo. There’s a lot of food options and activities inside the area. It was fun to run and do exercise inside the park. I was surprised that there is gym equipment, tennis courts, and a lot of things. When I visited, it was not that busy and there were families having picnics. I had an acai and burger which is near the entrance of the park. They also had water fountains in different areas.
Fredric J — Google review
This is an amazing park! Free entry with lots of great food vendors/trucks (I love the pamonha!), and a full library with a cafe. They have basketball, tennis, volleyball, and soccer courts, a playground, and an outer and inner path for running (the outer path is around 2 miles), walking, biking, etc. There are bycicles, skates, and 2 person bikes for rent at the front of the park as well. Visiting to this park is always a joyful experience. Whether you're there to get in a workout or spend time with your family, there is so much to experience!
Fendybendy — Google review
Have space for both families and adults. Have plenty of playgrounds as well as sports areas including basketball court, exercise areas and so on. Bathrooms are lacking soap (the time I’ve visited) but overall pretty fun place to be.
Baris — Google review
I recently visited Parque Villa-Lobos in São Paulo on a rainy Sunday morning for my long run, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! This park is an absolute gem for runners and bikers alike. The 3.5 km / 2.2 mi loop provided the perfect track for my run, with scenic views and well-maintained paths. What's more, the availability of restrooms and a filtered water station made my experience even more convenient. And to top it off, vendors selling fresh coconut water were a delightful treat post-run. Rain or shine, Parque Villa-Lobos is the ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Five stars without a doubt!

Although the organizers underestimated the buzz and amount of people who were really interested on going to the WTA SP OPEN, which made it impossible for us, real WTA tennis fans, to buy all the tickets we wanted as everything was instantly sold, unfortunately, to scalpers, who clearly didn't even passed on all their tickets.... Even so, everything else worked fine, we could see that the organizers really tried to do the best they could for the players and spectators. We had a lot of fun and it was a really great experience seeing our Brazilian tennis idols and other professional players so close! The only thing that got me sad was that we didn't get to see Luiza's game because the court didn't have numbered chairs and it was too crowded!
Carolina P — Google review
A beautiful, big, dynamic park with tons of things to do and to walk around. There were lots of people jogging, training, taking selfies, biking around, having a delicious coconut, etc. There’s also the biggest wheel in Latin America apparently, or one of the biggest ones. And I also saw a super vintage and cute merry-go-round. The park is pet friendly, and families can enjoy picnics, small gatherings and much more!

It is 5 if you enjoy different activities with the family. Free entrance and lots of washrooms and benches. In terms of nice pictures and selfies they can Improve on that as they have a huge land. Lots of restaurants. Can rent a bike. Mostly a park to be active and exercise.

Architectural Buildings
Luz Station, a grand Victorian train station constructed in 1901, is not just a transportation hub but also an architectural marvel and a significant landmark in Sao Paulo. This historic railway station showcases intricate art nouveau design elements, a magnificent structure, and an ornate facade that reflects the city's rich cultural and historical influences from the early 20th century. Situated in the heart of Sao Paulo, Luz Station symbolizes the city's rapid growth and modernization.
It’s a must-visit place in São Paulo. You’d rather go during day light to get nice pics. It’s a huge station. So if you want to see the classic station stop, it’s easier to get indoors through the streets. Otherwise, you’re gonna walk a while to go upstairs from the other entrances in the underground station.
Bruce — Google review
Well preserved historical building. This beautiful train station was built in the late 19th century and most materials for its construction were brought from the UK. Designed by British architect Henry Driver. I would recommend coming here during the day to take advantage of the natural light, which brings out the beauty of the station. Security level is good, few security personnel stationed in front of the entrance and some policemen will be on patrol around the area. Still, please be mindful and always be vigilant. Also, this station houses the Museum of the Portuguese Language.
Fairuz A — Google review
Almost impossible to find the operating dates. Google maps informed us that it goes every 10 minutes, but apparently the express runs once per hour. Ticket booth doesn’t work for foreigners and there is no English language option whatsoever. Tip - can use your credit / debit card on the gates, similarly to London’s tube. It’s a shame that such a massive and international airport has infrastructure that doesn’t work. I’d assume there is at least one train each 30 minutes… :) another negative point - as of 1 October 2024 there is only bus connection between different terminals and the train station - also not as frequent as one could assume. On the positive note, price is very affordable - only 5 reales. It can be called express only if one is lucky enough that it’s flight is scheduled in line with its operating hours :)
Piotr W — Google review
A classic train station with beautiful architecture. But once I stepped outside the station, there were many homeless people sleeping on the street that smells of urine. Many police guarding the area but I still do not feel safe.

Be really careful if you happen to be just outside the building for any reason, especially on rua Mauá. We almost got robbed there in broad daylight and had to flee running back inside the metrô station. The Martinelli Building, Brazil's first skyscraper, stands as a historic landmark in Sao Paulo. Erected in 1929, it played a pivotal role in the city's transformation into a bustling metropolis. This iconic structure boasts a distinctive mansard roof and an inviting 26th-floor terrace offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. While primarily serving as office space today, it welcomes visitors to explore its architectural beauty and enjoy the stunning vistas from its rooftop.
Attended a rooftop music event with some friends. What a fun place for dancing, drinks, and the views are simply stunning! We went there in time to catch the setting sun.

The building is beautiful, a historic one. But it should be in a better condition. The history of the constructor is very interesting. He was a visionary. Nowadays 70% belong to the municipality, and the rest is occupied by businesses. Considering that Tokio Marine, an important insurance company, is responsible for the highest floors- 25+26- and now for quite a long time, it would be expected these floors would be in a better condition. But since it’s one of the most emblematic buildings in São Paulo, it has a great history, it is worth being visited.

Stunning view of the concrete jungle! A must do! Check the time of the tours...
Phil — Google review
The building is beautiful and the views are pretty great. But the organization of this is dreadful. I came today (Sunday), saw that the timings were for 13 and 1430- on the site and on a poster on the door. I came just before 1300, with about 12 people ahead of me. A couple people joined friends near the front some time after I did, but we were not taken as a group until 1400. Then each of us had to show ID and the guide asked us questions and wrote our info- by hand, it took almost 15 minutes. Then we had to wait in another line for 15 minutes for no reason, and only then were we taken to the top. A guide spoke to us for a few minutes and then we were led out to the terrace. There were metal barriers in front of the rails so it was harder to get a really good view. Which I found pointless as there were only 15 of us and a guide and 3 guards. Not only that but only maybe half of the terrace was open for viewing. We were only allowed about 5 minutes on each side of the terrace. I've been to many lookouts in several parts of the globe and I've never had such a frustrating experience. I would prefer to pay an entrance fee and have more tours, waiting for an hour for a limited experience was almost not worth it.
Sal D — Google review
It used to be better, without the railings and with less hassle, but it’s still one of São Paulo’s best views, and even better that the view from the neighboring Farol Santander. Also, it’s free! I recommend that you reserve your tickets beforehand online.

The architectural significance of the museum buildings adds to its allure. Visitors can explore an array of artistic mediums including paintings, sculptures, installations, and photographs.
It's not really a musuem musuem but more like a gallery that features rotating artists and exhibitions. We went during the time they featured George Love and his photography journey. Got some really good insights. Spent about 2hours here.

This place is not a museum, it is more of an art gallery with a temporary exhibition - 2 rooms in which there are some things that can hardly be called art. There are no descriptions of what they refer to next to the 'works', there is only a note about the author. I did it in less than 18 minutes. Others write about 10 minutes in their opinions. The only plus is that I visited the exhibition on Sunday, when the entrance is free. At least I saved my money. No folders or any informations in english at entrance
Vanalai — Google review
Amazing modern art museum containing some of the most cutting edge pieces of art work in the area. Every year they sponsor new developing artists to showcase their work bringing to light the definition of a modern art museum. Admission prices are extremely low and the staff is extremely friendly. They even sponsored a dance show outside of the museum with street performers form all over the city congregating here to show off their moves. Some of them quite impressive and a large crowd was gathering outside. Inside is a mostly tranquil Oasis and the system was broken so they were letting people in for free as well. There's also no admission on Saturdays which makes it a great spot to swing by and take in the artwork. Parking is plentiful nearby but may fill during peak periods.

To celebrate a birthday of my husband we booked in advance the tea room for 26 adults ! We were very disappointed with what we remembered a few years ago of the service that the dar call the English Tea party ! The service was terrible , at 3 o’clock without announcing anything they put on a sideboard , 3 tea pots . No one knew if you had help yourself or somebody was coming to serve you . Some saw the tea pots and went to help themselves ; what was the tea pots was water for tea but cold , Coffee also cold and Hot chocolate , that was also cold …,,The service was poor because there was One waiter for our event who had also to take care of the guests that were seated on the other tables who were not our guests ….! It was a mess!!!! At the end of the two hours that was supposed to last the party the started serving the English pastry , that was the only thing that reminded us of the English Tea that they used to serve 25 years ago ! And they brought the sweets just when the people were leaving ……..What a disappointment for us and for the guests !!

Fantastic place inside of São Paulo. The brunch is expensive, but it’s worth every cent. The place was the former house of an entrepreneur, converted in a brunch place, art gallery and park. Visitors can expect a bustling street market offering a wide array of gastronomic experiences at the stalls.
Cool and big street fair in SP, in the heart of the Japanese neighbourhood within the city. Besides the street market, which is full of Brazil and Japanese souvenirs, there’s a great selection of food.

I didn’t find much of interest here, especially if you’ve been to Japan before—there’s really no need to visit. Most of the sellers weren’t very friendly, and they tend to sell cheap products at high prices. However, the redeeming qualities are the restaurants and supermarkets, which are definitely worth visiting.

Plenty of space for various outdoor activities, such as running, going for a walk, playing basketball, etc. Special sports equipment is installed, there are separate yards for sports as well. Not sure if they are free for everyone though. A lot of people hanging around with kids, dogs. There are both sunny spots and shadow areas under the trees, so it's a nice place whatever the weather is. The neighbourhood feels safe and clean, the buildings around are modern.
Ignas G — Google review
Great park for kids, exercise and just walking for its own enjoyment!
Marco C — Google review
Lovely quiet place to walk around. It feels safe, it fills you with a warm and calm space. It is a clean park with lots to walk around. Is pet friendly, though is required a leash. And obviously is penalized not to clean after your pet.
Emilia G — Google review
It's a very nice place but I don't like the guards'attitude. They are always behind your back, expecting the worst from you, ready to catch you: playing with a ball, smoking a cigarette, letting your dog run, not picking up the poo... Even when you are just sitting on the ground with the dog, they are super vigilant staring directly at you.
Andrea L — Google review
Not a bad chill out spot close to the city's central business district. A rare oasis of green space in the midst of Sao Paulo's sprawling sea of high-rise concrete blocks and hectic intersections. Calmer and less crowded than ibirapuera with a more laid back vibe. Plenty of coconut and cold snack vendors near the entrances to hydrate and refuel. Bike hire also easily available without the ibirapuera-style queues. Great lunch, picnic, exercise or chill out spot. Small but rare and accessible green space in the city.
Will A — Google review
One of the best parks in São Paulo. Rather small, but has tons of playgrounds for children (up to 5-6 yr). The inner bike lane has 1.8km.
Henrique B — Google review
This place is a hidden gem! It’s a small park in the middle of Itaim Bibi, next to Marginal Pinheiros. Since our return to the office, this the place where I come everyday to run and walk. I used to go to Ibirapuera park but since COVID it’s been a challenge. I can’t compare it to Central Park in NYC, but it remembers me of good times I’ve spent walking through it. There is a path for bicycles and a path for run/walk around the park, some trees, a great grass field on the middle “Central Park” style where people can lay down, look for special shaped clouds and see the planes on their way to the final landing at Congonhas Airport. We need more places like this, even if they are really small.

Located in the bustling Rua 25 de Marco, Mário de Andrade Library is a major icon of art deco style in Sao Paulo. It was the first Brazilian public institution to acquire modern works of art and houses them in the Pinacoteca Municipal. This state main public library offers access to books, magazines, newspapers, and community events. With its beautiful architecture, free WiFi, reading spots, and occasional exhibitions, it's definitely worth a visit when exploring downtown Sao Paulo.
I love libraries since my first time inside one. This one is special as It's located at So paulo city downtown and provide access to books, magazines and newspapers but to events for community (related or not to book itself). Any opportunity to visit Sao Paulo, save a time to visit the is building. ;)

Pretty nice library with decent installations and very comfortable seats, ideal for long hours of study or work. The architecture is really beautiful, specially the main entrance. The WIFI could be more stable and the English catalogue could offer way more options, but I had a pleasant experience there overall. The location is sketchy though and it's better to avoid walking around the area at night.
Sam M — Google review
There is no WiFi. On weekends there are lots of noise inside the library due to dancing groups in the first floor.

Wifi doesn’t work, the study room says you can have water but I was told I couldn’t have my water bottle out. Very limited access to anything other than the study room (with no wifi).

Named after one of the Brazilian modernism biggest names is also one of the state main public library. It is second to none in Brazil. Unfortunately it is not 24/7 anymore, so check the hours. No parking nearby.

Nice architecture, free WiFi and lots of spots to read. Small expositions from time to time. Worth a visit!

Imagine having to show your ID to enter a place that is a joke compared with libraries elsewhere. Ask to see the English books and you get four-page catalogue from which you have to choose although none of them are worth even considering no matter how desperate you are to read.

Parque da Independência, also known as Independence Park, holds historical significance as the site where Brazil declared its independence from Portugal in 1822. The park features well-maintained gardens and topiary displays, along with monuments and museums such as Museu do Ipiranga (Museu Paulista). While the museum is currently closed for renovation, visitors can still enjoy the expansive 40-acre park for picnics, exercise, and leisurely strolls.
This is a very beautiful park also with a museum. You can decide to visit the museum or just take a walk around the park. The water fountain, beautiful landscape, play area and the statues are so wonderful. It’s a good spot to have a walk date or just to enjoy conversation with your loved ones.

Only viewable up to floor 1 as the rest are under renovation. Place is huge and the paintings inside are great. Parque da Água Branca is a sprawling urban green space in Sao Paulo, offering a variety of activities and attractions. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding, explore a geology museum, and see replicas of country estates. The park features lush greenery, expansive walking paths, and serene water ponds for relaxation. While some find the presence of numerous chickens and birds charming, others feel it disrupts the peaceful atmosphere.
Casacor was a lovely experience if a bit repetitive. Beautiful park.

Lovely shaded park full of trees, although the buildings and the park in general have a shabby kind of feel. And for some inexplicable reason it is the home to hundreds of chickens, ducks and turkeys which generate a powerful stink which permeates the whole park and the peace is disturbed by their constant crowing. My suggestion - send all these birds to a farm.
Paul D — Google review
We had a great time here with our family. There's so much to do for kids! And adults can sit, drink, eat and chat while the kids play. It's a beautiful place.

A wonderful park with various wildlife including chickens, peacocks, horses, and a few stray cats in a beautiful, green setting. A great place for picnics. A beautiful arboretum showcasing native Brazilian trees. Normally there are many food vendors as well. Currently, due to Covid, options are limited to simple items such as ice cream and água de coco. Throughout the year it serves as a venue for concerts and festivals. Perfect for families with children.

This is a nice little park. Not quite sure what's going on here with all the chickens & birds, but we enjoy it. It's really nice to be able to come and visit the birds and animals in a really beautiful setting. We hope they keep the chickens around! This park was recently sold by the city to a private owner and we are unsure what the plans are for this space. The best part about this park is the organic farmers market every Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday from 7am-12hr.

Trianon Park, also known as Lieutenant Siqueira Campos, is a city green space located just across from the MASP museum in Sao Paulo. Established in 1892, it is one of the oldest parks in the city and features an area of 48,600 square meters with remnants of the Atlantic Forest. The park offers various attractions including trails, playgrounds, an aviary, exercise equipment, and a walking/jogging track.
Gorgeous George is a renovated boutique hotel right in the heart of the city. It easy to get around but the neighborhood can feel a bit off at night, so you just need to stay cautious. The hotel itself is gorgeous and spotlessly clean, with a really friendly team that makes you feel right at home. The highlight of our stay was definitely the breakfast! We spent 5 days in Cape Town, and each morning I was eagerly anticipating the delicious spread. Highly recommended!

A great respite from the hustle and bustle of the busy central São Paulo core. It’s a beautiful large urban park that has massive trees and lots of birds. There are plenty of benches strategically placed throughout the park to sit and enjoy the lush vegetation and/or the beautiful songbirds. Grab a takeaway coffee or bite to eat nearby and come enjoy its serenity. The vegetation is high enough to almost obscure the adjacent high rises.

Very huge and green city park. Once you're inside, it doesn't feel like you're in a busy city. Good place to hangout and relax. Interesting concept of crossing the bridge over roads to the next half of the park. Playground for kids as well as free water machine that offers cold or room temperature.

…......Right in the heart of the business & residential area you will find this gem of a place it’s more of an encounter then an experience! When you enter here you’re overwhelmed by the sheer acknowledgment that this is paradise. And it’s been here since 1892 since it was opened, this year they celebrated 127 years of existence. Even the air you breathe in here in different. What an extraordinary idea it was to preserve a small portion of what was here when the founders arrived in the area of São Paulo almost 500 plus years ago, lush Atlantic tropical dense forest. The municipality has taken great pains and effort to create a park par excellence. It’s super clean and the pathways are more like roads beautifully and very professional paved with crushed off-white rocks or some-kind of a tile. It’s easy to move around in here even if you’re elder-lii, disabled in a wheelchair. Children can safe-lii run around and they even have a playground for just that. You will even find security personal patrolling the park so it’s very during the day when visiting here. There are lots of benches placed around the park to take breaks. Lots of statues on display although the name-tags are well worn-out so it not always easy to know who they represent or what part they played in the history of São Paulo but never-the-less they do add character to the park. There is also a statue of a Faun inside near the main entrance and at the main entrance off Paulista Avenue is a huge statue of a Brazilian explorer. There are lots of banners depicting the by-gone years and what took place here. The park is massive and if I’m not mistaken I do remember our tour guide Fabio mentioning that this park occupies about 48000 square meters of land. It is such an iconic and spectacular area that is so much a part of São Paulo set aside for everybody to see and enjoy. This park has some major roads running through it and has walkway bridges across them for the public to access and move around free-lii. The entrance-fee to this park is free of charge. This is a must visit when in Sao Paulo, Brazil…………NB! By the way at the main entrance on the pavement they have a street market selling foods, hand-made goods and different kinds of jewelry. An Art-Gallery is also to be found right opposite the park’s main entrance………..

Really nice Eco park. I came late so I couldn't see the full park but there is a large lake where you can rent swan boats. They have some trails where you'll find Capybaras. I also some other animals - not sure their names though. Overall a great nature escape from the city.

A very clean and well managed park with a number of activity. There is a museum and a kind of art centre that features different things. The paddle boat costs R$25 per boat for 30 minutes which is very reasonable. There is a restaurant and I personally love the cold fresh coconut water. They have good snacks/pastries and drinks as well. There are barbecue areas for hangouts too, so it’s a park for everyone. Also very kid friendly. The park closes at 5PM so you may consider the time before going.

It's a nice park with some paths to walk and some areas for the kids to play, but it primarily seems to be used for local folks to run around the small lake and use the exercise equipment that's about. You can see some native wildlife but it's mostly feral cats. If you're afraid of spiders (and if you're not) keep an eye on any space between plants, there are many large cheetah speed spiders here.

You can also bring your dog to the dog park or enjoy skating in designated areas. The park features a library, gymnasium, and even a museum showcasing the history of Carandiru prison. It's an ideal spot for outdoor activities like biking and has facilities for working out as well.
Nice park to play tennis, soccer, volleyball and there is a special place to skateboard. You can use your bike in all the park, your dog is welcome too and if you like history, this place was a prison.

Beautiful and quiet place to take a walk or just lay on the grass and watch the sky, have Circus and workout area as well as spots to play tennis, football, basketball, skating....
Ahmed A — Google review
It's a nice place right now it used to be a large famous jail in which many people died You must pay attention where you're going in this park because there's a nearby slum and the boys from there steal from people that have good smartphone tablet or laptop. Take care avoid being by yourself at any corner otherwise you might get mugged
Curtis T — Google review
There are doesn't have water since 3 days! What is happening there?
Ale D — Google review
Parque da Juventude has wide open landscape that makes a stark contrast from the high walls that surround it, reminiscent of the former prison Carandiru, that once occupied the site. Modern architecture and graffiti add colour and life to the park.

National park
Scenic state park offering forested trails & a landmark hill with sweeping city views.
Beautiful park with a beautiful trail. At the top to which can also be driven is a few stands with food and drinks. Very clean as can be expected. Beautiful sights at the top and the perfect spot to take some iconic selfies.
AJ E — Google review
One of the only places in São Paulo where nature is still respected. Surrounded by Aboriginal shelters, this place hosts a cool, friendly park at the bottom and, if you've got the courage (or a car, because there's a road going up too), you can hike the mountain among trees and wildlife. At the top, a rewarding view of northern São Paulo awaits you. There's also a huge antenna tower and you can climb to it's base through a long stairway for an even better view. The hike has an easy difficulty, except for the end, which has a sequence intricate stairs/stones.
Gian M — Google review
Very long climb up on a wet and slippery trail through the rain forest. Great fun. Those not so adventurous can go by car to the base of the masts
Sheyne L — Google review
Nice place for a break on morning or afternoon or all the day. You have different way to walk on, so great for family or sportive person! Nice birds, insects, monkeys to see! The view from the top is okay but you have this communication tower so don’t expect that much. Prepare 3-4h minimum there...
Cyriaque B — Google review
A great option of nature very close to downtown São Paulo, and also has a trail to Jaragua's Peak where you can see São Paulo from above.

(Translated by Google) The park is excellent! Admission and parking are free, there's space for various sports, and pets are not allowed, which I found to be a positive aspect of the park's cleanliness, as we know not all pet owners are conscious about the mess their pets make. Overall, it's an excellent option for a day out.

Parque Buenos Aires, formerly a city square, was transformed into a charming park in 1987. This historical and picturesque inner square has been welcoming millions of visitors since 1913. The park offers a variety of soothing spots to relax and enjoy nature, featuring beautiful French metal cast artwork sculptures from the early 1920s. It is equipped with an open-air gym, playground, and hosts public events.
Beautiful park with a lovely playground. My 4-year-old had an amazing time exploring it. The design reminds me of German playgrounds, i.e. engaging and slightly challenging for little ones, but without the high-risk elements often found in Germany. A great spot for kids to play and have fun!

A historical and gorgeous inner square, visited by millions, open since 1913. A safe and pleasant spot to explore. A fascinating variety of soothing places to stay and enjoy, full of nature and wonderful french metal cast artwork sculptures from the early 1920s. Open air gym, public events, toilets, recyclable items collecting, no commerce, no ads, no bikes, no beggars, no bother, only a quiet and wonderful link to peace of mind. Recommended.
KARARYU G — Google review
Very pretty park located on Angelina Avenue, right before you get to Avenue Paulista. There are several restaurants, grocery stores, and street food options nearby, so grab a snack (or maybe a cold coconut water from the vendor that's usually near the entrance to the park, by the bus stop) and sit down to relax amongst the hustle and bustle of São Paulo. A beautiful green space inside the city, with a children's play area and a dog run! There are many interesting sculptures within the park that are worth checking out as well. It's a small park but still a very relaxing place. Park staff does a great job of keeping it clean, so be sure to help them out by placing any of your trash in the receptacles, which are conveniently located.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful, calm, empty place, there is a place to park on the street and if you rent a kiosk, a vehicle can park inside the park. I have rented a kiosk more than once and it is totally worth it, it is free, easy and with little bureaucracy. I have been there with friends, family and to train and give classes inside the park. I highly recommend it!!! (Original) Lugar lindo, calmo, vazio, tem local para estacionar na rua e caso alugue um quiosque um veículo pode estacionar na parte interna do parque. Parque Municipal "Alfredo Volpi" is a serene oasis nestled within the Atlantic Forest, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. The park boasts well-maintained trails that provide opportunities to encounter indigenous wildlife such as monkeys and rare bird species like the Toco Toucan and blue-headed parrot. Visitors can revel in the lush tropical vegetation while strolling along paths that lead to natural water sources, creating an idyllic setting for picnics or leisurely walks.
Best park in a middle of a concrete jungle. Clean bathroom, a mini trekking trace , parking, eat a lunch o do a picnic .

My favorite park to train dirty trails, small although many links help exploring back and forth, diversified challenges, for a not so short training. The park is well maintained with vibrant plants, birds and insects.

(Translated by Google) Excellent space. Clean, organized, and with a great collection. Incredible library. There are even great outdoor reading areas. It just needs a staff more attentive to the use of the space. It's very common for the reading chairs to be full of people sleeping. And there's the inevitable issue of the increasingly inconsiderate public talking loudly on their cell phones inside the library. (Translated by Google) I went to this library today (Wednesday) since it is located inside the Parque da Juventude and next to the Carandiru subway station. You have the option of leaving your belongings in the lockers if you can't take them with you. You can enter with a bottle of water and take photos. I found it to be quite large, with a collection of books (with a wide variety of themes), clean, cozy, with Wi-Fi, and internet access. There were a lot of people using the adult area, it is very peaceful for reading, studying, researching or simply relaxing. There are alcohol gel kiosks, FEM/MASC/UNISEX bathrooms (with paper, liquid soap), and a drinking fountain (one of them is under maintenance and the other has one of the "jets" that doesn't work). It is accessible for people with disabilities with a sign language panel (mainly in the division of the shelves) but I didn't see any access ramps or elevators. You can get a card there if you want to borrow a book, it is worth the visit, appreciate it!
