The Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library in Preston is a captivating destination filled with an array of intriguing artifacts and stunning artwork. The museum boasts Greek-themed murals and sculptures, along with diverse collections including textiles, photography, fine art, and historical items. Visitors can explore the Discover Preston gallery to delve into the city's local history and marvel at over 12,000 coins, medals, and banknotes from around the world.
It has recently reopened in the Heart of Preston City Centre. An amazing display of social, archaeological and media history from the city. Its free entry with donation boxes scattered around the museum. The winding marble staircase is a beautiful touch and includes library and reading rooms for research purposes.

This is a tremendous museum, one of the best I've been to. I understand it's only been reopen for a month after a £19m refit and you could tell. It was clean, well laid out, easy to access and great information throughout. I learnt a lot here. Free lockers were a really Godsend for us too. The highlight was the free Wallace & Grommit exhibition at time of writing which we absolutely loved. We discovered this place by accident as we had a couple of hours to kill in Preston and we were delighted to have found this wonderful treat. Throughouly recommend a visit here.
Robert C — Google review
Great free museum. Lots of different displays and great exhibitions. Highly recommend the Wallace and Gromit showcase that's on at the moment. A must see for any fan. Great local history and variety of interesting art. Wheelchair accessible and family friendly
Jaz G — Google review
After too many years closed for renovation the Harris is open again. A free museum and very popular with everyone in Preston. Local archaeology and nationally important history as well as local work of artists and luminaries. The Nick Park 'Wallace and Grommit' exhibition is brilliant and inspiring for young and old. Don't be put off by the pillared frontage, the automatic opening doors welcome you to an accessible museum of wonders. The new entrance is light and airy as are all the exhibition spaces and stairways, both worth taking your time to enjoy. The new coffeeshop is large and is worth a visit for a snack during your visit. New toilets as well as the ones on the stairwell compliment the modern styling of the spaces. There is a lift for those visiting in wheelchairs. The library space has been enlarged with a child friendly area to share with parents and child height exhibits too. We shall be returning as there is far too much to appreciate on one visit. Well worth the £5 suggested donation.
Nigel H — Google review
Great experience for the kids! Free entry which is a bonus considering how much information, art and different sections there is! Really enjoyed looking around took us about an hour or two to have a good luck at everything. Wallace and gromit museum on the top floor is ace and they also have a little shop for Wallace and gromit merchandise to. Cafe on bottom floor and also caters for disabled people with a lift to all floors. Visited on a Wednesday and wasn’t too busy.
Keighley L — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So lovely to see the Harris Library open again — it’s such a beautiful building and a real Preston landmark. The café is a great addition, perfect for a coffee while exploring. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of the space. The Wallace and Gromit exhibition is fantastic, and getting to see Nick Park’s actual Oscar in person is a real highlight. A brilliant day out for all ages! 🏛️☕🎬
Michael W — Google review
Went there for the Grand Reopening of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and loved every single part of it! I've been to the place before it closed down for construction. It was a place I used to go to relax, read books and spend time in the library and now that it's open again, I can do that and more! The staff are all lovely and the changes have definitely been for good. Love the little kids library area. The addition of facts, benches and a fancy dress place is a great idea for kids to come, play, read and just be themselves! The cafe area next to the Library is such a huge improvement from last time! Very modern, lots of space to sit down and eat or relax and study and the prices aren't too bad either! The other floors have so many interesting things to see like the History of Preston area and the Paintings scattered all around and especially the Wallace & Gromit exhibition. I think it's really cool to look at what work has gone into making the movies. The gift shop is decently priced too! I definitely think its a must place to visit in Preston. You can literally spend hours in here and still have things to see. Will definitely be a place I will visit often!
Teiro A — Google review
Today visited the fantastic free to visit "Wallace & Gromit" Exhibition at the Harris museum. What really draws you in, is the attention to detail and also the small (almost) hidden little jokes within/on the models. For example the top of the submarine from "Vengeance most Fowl", which has a upturned bath tub on it and a yellow plastic duck on the periscope. The background info to the films is also great - e.g. that the first film "A Grand Day Out" took 7 years to make!!!! or how Wallace's arch-enemy (= Feathers McGraw) was the reason for "Vengeance most Fowl" Even if you are not (yet) a fan of Wallace & Gromit - the modelling skill displayed, is alone is a reason to visit it. And it is FREE!!!

Avenham and Miller Park is a picturesque riverside park located in Preston City Centre, offering a serene escape with its natural amphitheatre, Japanese water garden, and historic landmarks like the Sebastopol cannon. The park boasts miles of scenic walking paths along the River Ribble, surrounded by charming Georgian residential streets and quaint squares. Visitors can unwind amidst cultivated flowers, a Basalt rock from Giants Causeway, and a historic water fountain.
Avenham Park is an absolutely lovely beautiful scenic colourful green space. We were first time visitors planning to be a frequent visitors. Firstly, there's the park, a lovely well maintained open park space. There's a flowing river, which does what a river does, fair enough. Then we discovered an unexpected gem, a beautifully wonderful Japanese Garden! 🌲🥀🌸🏵 with a waterfall! There's also a pavilion where you can get refreshments and you can also freshen up there (yes, I'm referring to lavatorial facilities 🫢). This is a wonderful family pet friendly space, immaculately maintained - what is not to like.

Very spacious, even walkways, so it was easy to walk around. Japanese style garden was relaxing. No litter around, which is great. Near the River Ribble. It could have more Environmental Interpretation boards around to indicate some historic facts to help tourists or people interested in history. There could be some more bat boxes or bird houses installed, so encourage more wildlife. Relaxing Park and well kept. Will try and get there more often in my lunch break.
{Luke} C — Google review
Stunning park, absolute credit to the grounds people. Japanese gardens beautiful. Such a relaxing walk, everyone seems to be chilled here, friendly and chatty. Local pub (continental) at one end or dog friendly cafe on the park (although they are missing a trick in not selling any dog treats, this would boost your profits given how busy you get with doggy visitors) Plenty of parking. Lots of families enjoying the last bits of nice weather. Football played at weekends. Guild wheel passes through so be mindful of the cyclists who seem to think everyone should move for them, other than the ignorant riders this is a top notch park.

With living locally & being a dog owner, tend to mainly use the park for exercising our dog As it is a great place to explore with foot paths leading in & around the park.

A really nice park that anyone can enjoy. Their is a small play park at the bottom of the hill with a small but lovely cafe next to it-great for children. The area has large open grass area and multiple pathways taking you around the park, some are more "off road" than others but they are mostly well defined. As shown in my photos their are some beautiful Chinese gardens, a water fountain and large rocked areas with a man made waterfall. Overall the area is very nice for a casual walk while having facilities for both children to play and open ground for sports. The only downside I would say is its lack of security, it is rather isolated and at night I have known it to be quite rough. If the council set up better night light systems and security cameras as they have done at Winckley Square I believe this would easily be a 5* Park.
Harrison — Google review
Lovely park. Not all entrances are accessible for wheelchairs and prams. We came in, or tried to, from East cliff side and it was bollards and steps so had to walk round. Very steep path all the way down the the pavilion but if you're pretty fit it's fine (I'm 8 and a half months pregnant). Lots of places to sit, lovely little cafe selling ice cream and barm cakes with bacon/sausage. Lovely stroll along the river ribble, wide flat paths perfect for pram, wheelchairs, runners and cyclists. Small park for the kids next to public toilets. They were clean enough but very dark. These were not wheelchair accessible and dis not have changing facilities for babies. We took a picnic and a football which was perfect. Lots of dog walkers and it was dog poo free (Lots of bins located around it). Unfortunately when we were there an idiot on a motorbike with a balaclava on riding close up to everyone including children. I'm guessing this is probably a one off and not a reflection of the park itself.
Abby O — Google review
Lovely park respectfully used by most. Nice walk along edge of river or just sit and enjoy. Park is a bit hilly but something for everyone. Cafe looks nice food is nice but be prepared to queue. Queued for hot food only yo be told to come back in 30 mins as they were too busy ( hardly anyone in, basically everyone wanted ice creams but it was the same queue. No organisation.) Park however lovely and toilets in cafe and separate block in Park.

Brockholes is a wetland and woodland nature reserve in Preston, offering a unique experience for nature enthusiasts. The reserve is home to rare bird species and features a floating visitor village. It hosts various family events such as craft sessions, open-air theatre, themed seasonal trails, tracking challenges, and den building activities. Additionally, it offers free guided walks and a popular school holiday club.
It was a glorious sunny day and Brockholes had been on our to-go list for some time. What a beautiful place, it's well laid out, there is a great team of volunteers to provide advice, lots of picnic tables and food walks. We will most definitely return.
Alan R — Google review
A great green open space and nature reserve for birds (no dogs allowed to protect ground nesting). Good set up where you can get a bite to eat and relax inside or out. The play area was a bit disappointing for the kids as it was under construction/refurb, but in fairness it looks like they're making a good job to make it better for the future.
Harvey H — Google review
We had a great time at the superhero event. My children are 18 months, 6 and 7 and they all joined in the fun! From mud throwing to den building, we were all entertained for a good 2 hours! The staff and volunteers were so friendly and great with the children. Thank you!
Rachel M — Google review
A lovely place to go visit with family, friends or just yourself. I usually walk all the way to Brockholes from the Preston city centre but even if the walk is long, the scenery makes up for it. A lot of greenery and amazing nature at Brockholes. A chance for you to bask in the nature and atmosphere and see the views. Definitely a must visit!
Teiro A — Google review
Had a lovely walk around Brockholes nature reserve. The weather was very pleasant nice sunny autumn day. Topped off with a coffee and ice cream. The car park has gone up to £6 which doesn't seem bad for all day parking but steep if your only there for a couple of hours. This makes people like cyclist park on the roadside so they don't gave to pay. The café is closed Mon, Tue, Wed now. Since we have been going the shop and plant stall have gone. The ice cream cafe has closed. You can get a coffee from the visitors centre out of a flask but the quality is poor and they charge £2.50 a cup. I know it's volunteer led, I know there is a cost to everything but if you don't provide facilities people won't bother going.
Dave M — Google review
Ample parking, a great cafe and lots of well surfaced paths. Plenty of birds to see & photograph. The floating village is an amazing construction too.
Jane E — Google review
If you love nature or bird watching you will love this place. Great for walking or picnic. Little shops there with local crafts, something to eat . Grab a coffe and enjoy the nature :)
Olga H — Google review
It's nice enough here. Well kept, good walking paths, nice cafe and visitor village. We did see a few unusual birds, some butterflies and damsel flies. The walk through the trees is lovely, like an enchanted tunnel. What did spoil it for me though, was the overwhelming traffic noise, with the site being right next to the motorway. It made the walks far less peaceful than they should have been, and made it difficult to use the bird identification app that I often use on walks. The pollution from the traffic isn't great either. That said, it's free entry, though you do have to pay for the car park, which was fairly pricey at £6 for a few hours. I'd suggest a visit if it's nearby to you, but I wouldn't travel too far or you might be disappointed.

The Lancashire Infantry Museum, situated at the soon-to-be decommissioned Fulwood Barracks, is a premier center for military historical research in North England. It boasts the largest regimental military heritage collection in the region, with over 60,000 catalogued items spanning over 300 years of history. The museum showcases weapons, artifacts, medals, flags and more related to Lancashire's involvement in wars dating back to the late 17th century.
You need to get your tickets online in advance for security purposes but it's no hassle at all. It's not a huge museum but it's incredibly well kept and if you're interested in anything military it's well worth a look. It was quiet when I went (just before Christmas) and so I was lucky to get two of the volunteer guides all to myself. Friendly, chatty and knowledgeable, they showed me around the place and I ended up spending longer there than I'd expected to. Admission fees are a one-off and you can revisit the museum for free within the next year by going online and rebooking a free ticket. One feature of the museum is that they have an extensive archive and for a fee they are prepared to undertake research enquiries if you want information on a particular soldier from the regiments they cover. Check their website out for details.
Dave H — Google review
Very welcoming, the curator showed us around and let my kids try on a redcoats jacket and hat. We needed to get security passes at the gate on the way in, which added to the overall experience to be honest. Two decommissioned machine guns with uniform to try on, made them like the whole experience even more. We were allowed to photograph also, which was very nice to see in a museum. Overall had a great time and great memories to take away.
Malcolm H — Google review
Absolute hidden gem, would highly recommend. The gentlemen who gave us a tour were extremely knowledgeable. By far the best value for money at just £18 for a family and we had two tour guides. The exhibits were amazing and had lots of memorabilia that we haven't seen in other museums.

Stumbled across this place on a day trip with the family. Very interesting and a little eery, staff were lovely and extremely knowledgeable.

Excellent Museum. Comprehensive displays. Staff very informative, knowledge and friendly. Well worth a visit. 5*

A great museum, full of local history. I was fortunate to be given the tour by a very knowledgeable and engaging guide. Many thanks. The barracks are due to close in a few years, go before the link to the building is lost. I spent just under two hours here, I suggest a little longer if this is your thing, a little less if you've got little ones.

An absolutely terrific experience. Fantastic guides with brilliant knowledge and enthusiasm for the history and artifacts on display. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

When in Preston, vintage shopping is a must-do activity. From retro fashion and bric-a-brac collectors at Retropolis to unique finds at Hunter & Co and mid-century furniture at Preston Vintage & Antiques Warehouse, there's something for everyone. To keep your energy up, grab a specialty gelato from Augustus Gelatery or Gelato Papa. The city's famous Outdoor Market at the Flag Market is perfect for grabbing bargains throughout the week.
Clean shopping centre. Stopped to use facilities, seems a well cared for establishment. Largest Emaaus charity store I've seen,
Aki R — Google review
I remember coming here a lot in the 90s, and it was great! Sadly, not so much any more. Not many shops left worth checking out now. And the toilets here absolutely stunk!
Ben M — Google review
Came here just to look around and have a sit down before our train an hour later. It's bang average and nothing more. None of the shops enticed us in and there was nowhere at all to sit down other than one bench outside the toilets which smelt of wee, even from outside! In the Gents, someone was actually smoking and when I reported this, the person just shrugged like it was an every day occurrence. Dated and needs a refresh I feel.
Robert C — Google review
At 16.30 on Sunday the 3rd of August I was planning on visiting the shopping centre while I was on my break at work. I rushed because I knew it was closing at 17.00. When I got there there was a queue for the disabled toilets and the male and female toilets were blocked off with staff standing across them saying they’ve been cleaned you can’t use them! I explained that I have bladder issues but I was told to join the queue! This is unacceptable! I don’t like making an issue of my disability but I feel I must at this time. I was also planning on visiting Poundland which was shut. And McDonald’s. But I couldn’t hold on any longer so had to rush to the train station to use the toilets there and now haven’t got time to go back and get what I wanted. Very poor.
Wayne P — Google review
Absolutely awful, l didn't have a debit card on me ,due to it being stolen. I'm disabled and the payment station only allow s to pay by debit card .They EXPECT you to go to the office which is the other side of the car park ,where they don't have blue badge facilities. Thank goodness l had change and a kind lady paid it for me on her debit card OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED WITH A TICKET disgusting

St. Walburge's Church is a prominent landmark in Preston, Lancashire, known for its stunning architecture and towering spire that dominates the city skyline. Designed by renowned architect Joseph Hansom, this 19th-century Roman Catholic church is a Grade I listed building and holds significant historical and architectural value. Visitors can enjoy free heritage tours of the church's interior on Saturdays and even take part in special night-time spire tours.
Went up the spiral 172 steps, was steep but worth it. Views are amazing. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. They send you up in groups of 3, so don’t worry about slowing others down, we’re all in the same boat catching a breath to reach the top. Worth booking in advance. The money raised from the tour goes towards the renovation.
Daydreamer — Google review
Such a beautiful and unique church, different from other traditional church buildings. Very tall spire which is only accessible at certain times of the year. It would be great if funding permits redecorating the interior of the church. Free to visit main church.
Legends L — Google review
A beautiful church that is definitely worth visiting and spending time to take in the grandeur of the architecture. I was also fortunate to climb the 172 steps of the spiral staircase and see the amazing views of Preston. Well worth the small price to pay and would definitely recommend anyone to do this.
Shaun — Google review
Excellent historical church with magnificent Catholic liturgies; a great testimony to the Christendom heritage.
Laurentius V — Google review
Beautiful church, very welcoming and fascinating to read about and the history of the church. Really one of the most beautiful places to go and see in Preston. The rose window is absolutely beautiful and quite a pleasant walk from the city centre. The people welcoming at the door were happy to welcome me. The spire was open to book to see the top but I didn’t have time - maybe in the future. Tickets in advance on eventbrite to go up the spire.
James V — Google review
Lovely building with lots of history. Fab staff guided us up the spire and ensured any questions we had were answered. Bit scary at first as the staircase is very steep but worth it for the views. They only open the spire a few times a year but well worth a visit anyway as the church itself is stunning. Needs repair inside but they're trying their best 🙂
Chloe G — Google review
I've been coming here a few times now and I love going up the church spire its such a fantastic church packed with history the staff are amazing and make you feel really welcome
Jack O — Google review
Climbed the spire stairs. £10 a ticket and the view is worth every penny. Beware the staircase is narrow and steep as you can rxpect from a 19th century church. Staff were great really friendly and even got given a tour around the church with a history lesson to boot. All the ticket pricing goes towards the church restoration thats needed. Will deffo do it agaon

Winckley Square in Preston, England is a picturesque Georgian square that was originally designed as an upscale residential area. The square is located within a conservation area and features elegant terraces of Georgian townhouses, particularly on the north and west borders. These houses overlook Winckley Square Gardens, which are adorned with lush lawns and shaded by mature hardwood trees such as birches, willows, and limes.
Winckley Square is a beautiful peaceful park/gardens, full of interesting history. It was beautifully designed and these days serves the community and visitors very well as a place for relaxation and recreation

A charming little green space with plenty of benches and a nice bit of greenery, offering a surprisingly peaceful slice of nature right near the city centre. It’s well lit at night too, with lights dotted around that definitely add to its appeal. That said, I wouldn’t recommend a solo nighttime stroll. It does look lovely after dark, but even in the daytime, you might come across some shady characters blocking the path with their bikes or people indulging in illegal activities - the smell usually gives that away!

On a nice day this is a nice place stop to eat lunch, or even take five minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Plenty of benches, lots of well kept open space, clean and well maintained

Absolutely stunning park , the feel of history and nature combined, historical plaques on the railings around the park, different styles of plants and trees, has its share of vandalism by people who steal the plants in the wooded areas given to the park by the public, but it's serenity is good for your time and health.

Lovely peaceful park surrounded by a Georgian square in Preston. It's beside the city centre and close to Avenham and Miller Parks. There's plenty of park benches and the whole place is beautifully maintained.

Great space for a picnic lunch just meters away from the main shopping centre. Very close to Avenham Park with a cafe and riverside walk.

Lovely small park close to the city centre. Surrounded by historical buildings each with its own story. Nestled along Lancaster Canal, Haslam Park is a charming Edwardian park in Ashton with Grade II listed gates at its entrances. The northern part has transformed into the Haslam Park Nature Reserve since 2006, featuring sensory gardens and an old drinking fountain. Accessible for disabled visitors, the park offers level paths including a picturesque lime tree avenue. With mature woodlands, a serene lake, and access to Lancaster Canal, it's popular among dog walkers and families with young children.
A wonderful big park for all the family. Lots of paths to wander. Play area for the kids. A few bench’s around the lake to rest. Beautiful flowers. There are designated areas where you can let your dog off lead as there is also a nature reserve. There’s a large car park that closes at 9pm

Lovely park for walking/strolling. Nice relaxing and calm green scenery 😎

Gem of a great large city park. Pond, stream, wild flowers, mature trees, sensory garden, orchard, rose garden and lots of wide open spaces. Well worth a visit. Access to the canal. Small car park. Unfortunately no toilet facilities.

I’m a regular visitor to Haslam Park. A lovely place to take the family for a walk—peaceful and quiet, with beautiful woodland paths. The pond with mallards and a swan is a lovely touch. There’s a good play area for children and plenty of open space for them to run around. Easy to lose track of time here.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Haslam Park is a beautiful green space and one of Preston’s real gems. It’s perfect for families, there’s plenty of open space for kids to play and a great, flat path that’s ideal for learning to ride a bike. In autumn, the park is stunning, with the trees creating a colourful tunnel of leaves that’s perfect for a walk or some photos. It’s peaceful, well kept, and a lovely place to enjoy nature all year round. 🍂🚲🌳

People say this park offers a canal, play area, pond, stream, wild flowers, mature trees, sensory garden, orchard, rose garden, and wide open spaces. They highlight the various paths, the access to the canal, and the availability of tennis courts. They also like the beautiful scenery and the suitability for picnics.

The St George's Shopping Centre is an impressive and popular shopping centre in Preston, known for its high street fashion and homeware stores as well as cafés. It regularly hosts free to enter competitions and events, making it a great place to spend a day out with the family.
Busy centre! Plenty of stores and places to eat or have a coffee. There a small place called super wok noodle bar where they small or large boxes with rice or noodles or both with choice of two three toppings! We had BBQ Cantonese and soya flavored crispy chicken with half and half. Oh my word big portions. They offer other things like steamed buns and salt n pepper chips and other items. Be prepared to take cash. Really nice food. And very friendly staff
Lesley P — Google review
Medium sized mall housing major clothing and beauty brands. Well maintained. Wheelchair accessible. Centrally located. Very close to the train station. The mall is surrounded by smaller stores and what appears as a community centre where a lot of activities take place. Has places for eateries and assorted children play spots
Oluade A — Google review
Pleasant ish shopping area. Preston is heading the same way as Blackpool. Some shops closed down. Rough streets. Scary to walk down alone let alone with children. However better variety of shops. But can visit these shops in better looked after areas where you feel safer. If there’s anywhere left
Caroline S — Google review
Came here no later than quarter to six, says on the door closes at half past six. It was closed. I didn't even want to go to the shops I just wanted to walk through to the other side. The security quard at the door was also very disrespectful. I could describe what he looked like but a key characteristic of his appearance may break Google Hate speech policies. I will shop in the shops here in the future, not that there is actually that many selling anything worthwhile, but the establishment running it is a joke.
Austin — Google review
Modern and well equipped shopping centre which was very clean and bright too. Accessibility not a problem with lifts and escalators. Most units are occupied, which was good to see, and the centre was quite busy. Had a nice atmosphere.
Daniel B — Google review
Everything is shut, and the cIty feels like a grubby old northern town again. Thank god that the university is putting some money in. The extension of St. George's from about 10-15 years ago(?) has nearly every shop empty. Very sad.
Bowland W — Google review
Good range of stores, car park has steal columns all over. Plenty of seating and restaurants to take a break from shopping with out having to search. High street exits bring you out to even more shops and restaurants. Lift and escalators get you between floors.

Museum
The Museum of Lancashire, located in one of Preston's oldest buildings, offers a journey through local history, covering topics from seaside holidays and industry to WWI. The museum hosts various events suitable for all ages and celebrates city festivals throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy child-friendly activities such as exploring a trench and experiencing an air raid shelter. The museum also features the impressive Silverdale hoard and offers a lovely cafe with friendly staff.
Lovely little cafe, friendly staff, lots to see. Please don't close it down! We took four of our five children and they absolutely loved it. They can get into a typical air raid shelter which folk would have had in their garden, feel the size of the trenches, see how it feels to sit in a tank's driving seat, and much much more!
Babingtonsmama — Google review
We went today just pass a couple of hours and spent over 4 here today! Fantastic museum with really friendly, helpful staff. Visited the cafe first thing for coffee and then stayed for a great lunch - they don't do full cooked meals but you can get toasted sandwiches, soup etc. and all reasonable prices. Well worth a visit, but please donate in order that this place can stay open.
Julie D — Google review
Excellent day out. Very child friendly activities which immediately engaged our grandson, aged 8, especially the trench which he found very atmospheric. the Silverdale hoard is breathtaking. Museum full of helpful but unobtrusive staff, is small and friendly and very well kept. A mixture of artefacts and display notices, good parking and lovely cafe.
Hilary K — Google review
Lovely little museum. There are lots of activities for the kids. There are quite a lot of stairs, so it might be tricky for those with mobility difficulties and it means you need to watch toddlers. The wartime trenches display can be a bit overwhelming for younger children.
Jayd L — Google review
Free to enter.. Lovely local museum with some great seasonal additional installations. Come quick though as liable to not be around for long as council cuts hit, which will be a massive lose to Preston.

Nestled just off Cop Lane in Penwortham, Hurst Grange Park stands as the largest green space in the area, steeped in history from its days under the ownership of William Adam Hulton's family. The remnants of the once-grand Hurst Grange mansion are now limited to the beautifully restored Coach House, which houses a delightful café and event hall.
Great place to take a walk, walk the dog, take the kids to the park, or just relax. Beautiful surroundings with plenty to keep your little ones entertained.

Lovely park with a good range of seating and play equipment suitable for ages 2-12. The play area is enclosed by a fence and there is a younger play area with sand one end, a climbing net, swinging rope and swings in the middle with an older play frame with slides the other end. You can sit and have full view of your child across the whole of the play area. First time visiting and won't be the last :)
Stacey R — Google review
Lovely park with free parking just outside. I didn’t stay too long on my visit as there were quite a few flies—probably down to the weather at the time. Some of the paths start out paved but then continue unpaved, so do keep that in mind if you’re planning a walk. There are a few benches dotted around, ideal for a picnic, and there’s also a children’s playground. I’ll definitely be heading back another time to explore more of it! ✅ Free parking.
Amy B — Google review
Extremely popular place for dog walking, its the only sizable park for Penwortham. Dogs are allowed off lead although some, and only some owners who frequent the park are fairly precious of their pooches - beware. There's a cafe at the park lodge open from 10am - 4pm. Accessible and not so accessible paths good for all.
Claire B — Google review
A super, mid size park with open areas, wooded areas, ponds, a well kept and safe children's play area, plenty of benches. A wonderful café that does super food and has loos. Good pathways that are wheelchair friendly, and it's dog safe. ( But requests to keep them on a lead).
Steve M — Google review
We love this park, it has everything you need for a young family. The playground has so many different apparatus - it's suitable for all ages I would say. The cafe is also close by with great changing facilities and lovely food. It's a lovely place to visit regardless of the weather.

Lovely place for a walk with or without a dog. Nice children's playground that's fenced off. The old Penwortham Hill Rovers changing rooms has been converted and renovated into a cafe . It recently had an opening ceremony with dignitaries. Three of the ponds have had new fencing erected. It looks much better now.

Nestled in North-East Lancashire, Beacon Fell Country Park is a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Spanning an impressive 75 hectares, this historic park—established in 1970—boasts a diverse landscape of woodland, grassland, and moorland. As you explore its numerous trails, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas that include the Forest of Bowland AONB and Morecambe Bay, with occasional glimpses of the Isle of Man on clear days.
Great for exploring with the dog. It gets busy but it doesn't feel overly busy on the trails. Very well kept. Cafe with great coffee. Plenty of picnic benches around the area. Plenty of parking. £1 parking for all day.

Car parking £1 !! (& the meters were our of order for us) for an amazing park. Lots of different walks, from easypeasy to more strenuous. Stunning views, woodland, sculptures, birds everywhere, wild flowers, ponds, dragonfly, ducklings, picnic benches .. the visitor centre has a little cafe with information boards, maps etc and the most friendly and informative woman at reception. There's a little glass viewing area to watch the bird feeders (Inc a squirrel and little harvest mouse when we were there) first time I've seen a Redpoll !! Toiiet block seperate. Ample parking space, it's a one-way system for driving, so plenty of different little parking areas if you want to move around. Woodland sculptures, tree swings and rocks for families. All well maintained. Highly recommend this fabulous family friendly park.

Stunning and quiet. People do need to respect these types of places a lot more. I saw bags of dog eggs and an empty coffee cup left behind when there are plenty of bins. Scumbags.

A great place to visit in Lancashire is Cuerden Valley Park. There are 650 acres of land to explore, and it's perfect for a picnic, a walk with the dog, or simply relaxing. The nature preserves have been well preserved, and there are lovely sounds of birds, flowing water, and squirrels close up. The park has pay and display parking with meters, making it easy for visitors to use.
Beautiful park and a great place for a walk, with plenty of wildlife to see!
Ruthie — Google review
A nice scenic walk and clean for the majority. A couple of bins were overflowing though this was at the picnic area on a sunny day. The stream is clear and my dogs enjoyed running over the little footpath in the water and children were enjoying playing in there. People were picking wild blackberries, which were plentiful dotted around the area. I only took the short walk, however there are longer walks available with benches dotted along the way with beautiful views looking across the reserve and countryside.
Keiley B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful park. Sometimes it can be really busy at other times it's lovely and quiet and you'll barely see anyone. The cafe there was very busy and service was slow but with limited cooking facilities that's not surprising. I noticed a distinct lack of recycling bins for the takeaway cups we purchased around the cafe which I think could be improved upon. There are limited litter bins in and around the park but in my opinion one should take one's own waste home with oneself. The park has seen a lot of changes to the pathways and places you're allowed to walk in after the hall was bought by private owners and it is sad that there are beautiful woods and pathways that are no longer accessible but such is life and 'progress'. The volunteers do a tremendous job of maintaining the area and nature has a way of making it's own mark creating a wonderfully natural beauty spot for us all to enjoy. I can't comment on the parking for this park as I walk to and from the area.
Kayla K — Google review
Lovely walks, paddled in the river, then up to the dog friendly cafe for coffee and ice-cream.

Nice walk, nature was preserved really well. Lovely sounds of birds, water flowing and saw a squirrel close up. It’s pay and display parking with meter. Nice for a picnic or stroll. Good for dog walkers, cyclists and joggers as well. The dogs weren’t all on leads and did sniff/lick people. No dog poo left around though which is brilliant! The reservoir is not really maintained and is overgrown with weeds, otherwise would be lovely. #preston

A beautiful place, generations of my family have enjoyed the woods, lakes and fields, beautiful all year around, a great place to go sledging in the winter, and in the summer, kids can enjoy paddling in the river. Lots of picnic spots. It is a popular place, so can get busy, definitely a place for dog lovers, as very popular with dog walkers.
Robert D — Google review
We're lucky enough to live right next to this beautiful park, it's in walking distance from our house. We enjoy to go for walks with our little boy. In the winter during lockdowns it got quite busy at times as there wasn't a lot else to do. But still beautiful and enjoyable even when busy. There are lots of little areas to walk around, little streams and rock pools for the dogs to splash in (we don't have dogs but we see lots enjoying themselves there). Duck pond and picnic tables - we tend to take a packed lunch and/or snacks and sit at the tables enjoying the scenery, then head to the duck pond, and then walk around. Beautiful scenic walks with plenty of space - perfect for getting some much needed fresh air! There are two car parks I believe; they are pay and display - haven't used them ourselves as we walk there and back with it being so close. There is also a cafe that sells food, cakes and hot drinks etc. Very nice! And every so often there will be an artisan market or craft market on - lovely little boutique buys, lots of small businesses to support. Definitely worth a visit when they are on too. Would highly recommend Cuerden Valley Park to all who love the great outdoors.

We had a great evening at the Northern lights event. It was well organised and thought out. Our only comment would be that the exit wasn't very well sign posted. We weren't sure if we had to back through the trail which I think some people did do.

Moor Park is a delightful urban retreat that caters to all ages and interests. With its expansive green spaces, it’s an ideal location for leisurely strolls or family picnics amidst nature's beauty. The park features various amenities including football pitches, tennis and basketball courts, as well as playgrounds designed for children. For those seeking adventure, there’s a skate park and scenic trails perfect for walking or biking. Families can enjoy the nearby pond while kids play in designated areas.
Taylors Funfairs were in the City for the Easter Funfair 2025 at Moor Park as part of their North West tour and it was fantastic. Hope they return soon because it was a great Fair and Moor Park was a brilliant setting. Happy Easter everyone and enjoy yourself if attending Moor Park for this very good Fair.

I love coming here to use the tennis court, although it's often in use. The whole park often gets used for sports like cricket and football; You'll also see a lot of dog walkers so if you're looking for somewhere to walk your dog I'm sure this'll be more than enough. Overall I love playing badminton here as the trees provide great protection from any wind and people are always considerate not to walk through us.
Llewellyn J — Google review
One of the best parks in Preston, with two great play areas for children. The Serpentine Lake and surrounding space used to feel a bit shady, but recent renovation work has really opened it up. The BMX track and nearby PNE FC stadium add to its appeal. However, even after the BBC Radio event in 2024, I still feel it hasn’t quite regained its former glory.

A lovely park for various activities to keep your mind and body active. It has a kids playground, basketball courts, adjacent tennis courts (not within the park), fields suitable for cricket, a small pond, paved paths and lots of grass and trees. It can be cold when it is windy especially in open areas of the park where wind isn't broken by trees.
Ayad A — Google review
I really enjoy the sense of calm I find in this park. The paths are well-maintained, so easy to find a route that suits the weather and your desire for solitude. The grass is managed to give insects plenty of habitat, and the flower beds are being planted/maintained with biodiversity in mind. The mature trees are delightful. I’m really impressed with the care that is being taken to ensure this land is not just a pretty spot for humans, but supports wildlife too.
Lyn W — Google review
Highly recommended. This is a great neighborhood park! It is a serene environment and it’s easy to locate. Lovely place for a walk, you can sit and appreciate nature. It’s dog friendly so you’ll likely see a few dog owners with their fur babies. There’s a play area for kids unfortunately I didn’t take photos of the play area, there are cafes within the park too so you can grab your coffee on the go.
Stephanie D — Google review
This is a small but lovely park just a short walk from the City Centre. On a beautiful Sunday morning the park looked glorious, even though the trees are still to bud and the grass is looking a little fed up. The daffodils are slowly coming through at the end of February and within a week the park will be filled with glowing yellow flowers. If you look you will find the Crocus in flower. A park suited for all ages, with plenty of benches to rest on and watch the world go by, or the crazy joggers. 😉 Visit this park and enjoy a couple of hours in the sunshine ☀️
