Johannesburg Botanical Gardens is a sprawling 125-hectare park that offers a diverse range of gardens, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. The park boasts an impressive collection of trees, including rare and perennial varieties, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of South Africa without leaving the city.
Great spot for an afternoon walk. You can enjoy the day and bring your mat to relax and enjoy the nice weather. Your 4 legs babies are welcome as well.
Fatima A — Google review
The Johannesburg Botanical Gardens offer a tranquil and serene environment — perfect for those seeking a peaceful escape. The garden areas are clearly marked, and the dedicated trails for runners are thoughtfully designed to minimize disturbance to visitors enjoying nature at a slower pace. There’s ample seating and well-maintained grassy spaces throughout the park, making it ideal for picnics and relaxation. However, I’m giving three stars due to the parking experience. Unfortunately, many visitors park without any sense of order, which can make finding a spot frustrating. The car guards on site seem to lack the authority or structure to manage this effectively, leaving the parking area feeling somewhat chaotic and insecure. I think local donations for the various flower beds would be great, there isn’t a specifically diverse range of flowers.
Stephen B — Google review
SUCH A DISAPPOINTING TIME. when you have been to the botanical gardens 🏡 n Durban and you come to this botanical garden in jhb you would think there would be beauty as along the roads many homes have better outside gardens than this place. Lots of trees, even a weed has become a tree which made us roar with laughter. The only flower we saw was one bush of stralitzers and a little water feature. Rather call it a park and put swings and slides for the kids there bec of you going to look at the flowers, sorry there aren't any.
Heidi G — Google review
What a nice park/garden in the middle of Johannesburg. Took the family for a stroll and ice-cream and the weather was great also. A nice garden with plenty of roses, a few interesting memorials/plaques a historical garden and then the dam itself. Plenty of space for picnics, play area for kids and quite a few ducks. Will definately go again

This place is a literal sanctuary .There is a walking trail if you are looking to talk a walk, there is a huge garden that has beautiful roses, and plenty more different flowers ,the place is well maintained and is family friendly, there's also a little book store if you want to grab a book to read but they are priced. As you walk in there is a large, beautiful dam that has catfish and ducks, you can even go Rowling in a boat you rent, i also realized that there's a area where you can go scuba diving and even fishing.Theres also a playground for the little ones and it's a great picnic spot that's for sure I would highly recommend this place

Mall of Africa is the largest shopping mall in South Africa, featuring over 300 shops with a wide range of brand-name fashion and footwear retailers. The expansive space also includes casual eateries and a movie theater for entertainment. The mall offers uniquely identified court areas for easy navigation and exceptional access, location, and visibility. Additionally, it hosts holiday-specific entertainment events, making it an ideal destination for families.
Mall of Africa is an amazing place to visit and way more than just a shopping center. The mall is massive and beautifully designed, with something for everyone. The food court had so many choices, from quick bites to full meals, and everything we tried was great. There’s so much to see and do, from shopping and dining to fun attractions. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Johannesburg
Ashraf G — Google review
Great shopping experience! Wide range of stores, delicious dining options, and fun entertainment for all ages. Clean and modern facilities. To add on shops close at 20h00 and restaurants at 22h00. Totally worth a visit!
Lara N — Google review
A monumental building with the promise of diversity and continent in its name, but inside, unfortunately, as always, only the usual mix of glass, noise and sensory overload. A South African mall like any other. Levi's doesn't have a length 34, Nike doesn't have a size 13 and the cinema shows the usual bunch of baloney. It smells of sugar and panic, children scream, adults stare at their cell phones and wander around as if they were being controlled remotely. Consumerism is rampant and reminds us of things we don't need. But people love it nonetheless because for many it seems like a safe haven. No violence, no obvious rip-offs if you know your way around. Everything flashes, everything screams, everything calls for credit, consumption and individualism. Three out of five stars for this shiny cage with a parking garage. If you can, order from home.
Tilman B — Google review
Of course! Here’s the updated version: ⸻ The mall is really nice with a great variety of stores and places to eat. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a good vibe overall. The only downside is that it’s always packed, so it can get a bit hectic 🫣especially on weekends. It’s a great place if you go there at night.
Khuliso M — Google review
It is a beautiful place to splash money on your loved ones while you enjoy different places for coffee and eating, it caters for high end earners and middle earners.
Masiza M — Google review
Depending on how one measures Mall size, the Mall of Africa, located in Waterfall City, just off the busy N1, remains a strong contender among the top ten giant malls operating nationally in South Africa. Clearly visible from the N1, the Mall of Africa in Midrand is easily accessible from several directions. It boasts top-notch architecture and offers an exhilarating shopping and entertainment experience. Parking is available on several levels, with both lift and escalator access in several instances. There are visible security personnel and several high-tech touchscreen information kiosks spread around the Mall. Sign-posting of stores and other facilities is very good. The airy walkways are spotless, and good use is made of natural light that steams down from the high ceilings. A great Mall if you want to shop among well-known brands, visit the eateries, or just hang out for a long day's stroll in an aesthetically pleasing, and well-designed environment. Paying for parking could be easier, as a few visitors experienced "unreadible" card errors, thus holding back others. All in all, a great day's outing.

Lory Park Zoo, established in 2000, is a privately owned zoo and animal sanctuary located in Midrand. It offers close-up encounters with various animals and features owl and big cat feeding experiences. The zoo provides an opportunity to interact closely with the animals, including big cats, birds, gibbons, and reptiles. Visitors can enjoy well-maintained enclosures and arrange animal encounters. Additionally, the zoo offers braai facilities for a complete day trip experience.
If you love animals and want to spend time with the family I would suggest making a visit here. It is safe and clean and the children do love interacting with small bunnies. My wife and I went many years ago and they used to allow more direct interaction with the big cats not certain why this was taken away but this was the key attraction for me and left a heart felt interaction as I love God's creation I will still recommend going to but they have changed from the glory days but my kid was still smiling and my wive I have included even photos back in the day - management please bring back the animal interactions
Paul G — Google review
Great experience at Lory Park Zoo in Midrand! The big cats are incredible to see up close, and feeding time is definitely the highlight – highly recommend timing your visit for it. The zoo is clean and well kept, with plenty of photo opportunities. A wonderful outing for families, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys wildlife.

This hidden zoo park nestled in Midrand offers a few unique species of birds. For on R120 entry you get to see these marvellous creatures. It looks like you can also host parties there while surrounded by lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs and monkeys and so much more. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for something to do on a weekend.
Gouwa D — Google review
Had a great experience at Lory Park Zoo! It's a bit hidden from the main streets, but it's worth the find. The enclosures are small, but they're well-kept and spotless. The animals looked healthy and well taken care of! The owl encounter was AMAZING! For R120, it's a fantastic outing. The on-site shop had food, snacks, and drinks and was quite affordable. The food was really nice and fresh! Staff were super friendly and helpful. The only downside was limited parking. Highly recommend visiting!
Volmer Q — Google review
I went to Lory Park many many years ago, they were still quite small (or at least that's what my memory tells me). You can see these animals are very well looked after, they are in immaculate condition. The animal interactions are an absolute must do. The staff are friendly and answer all questions to the best of their abilities. We did the koi feeding, bunny feeding, owls interaction and the flamingo enclosure. It's something different when you're that close to the animals. If you decide to have a meal from the shop, be prepared to wait, everything is freshly made and so takes a little longer. A definite must do, eapecially if you want a small zoo visit to guage the childrens' interest in animals.
Danielle L — Google review
Great experience. You get to touch snakes, see the feeding experience with the animals. There is plenty of seating, a small tuck shop and you can feed and touch the bunnies for a fee of R20pp. Lions, cheetahs, birds, reptiles, monkeys and many more
Denese G — Google review
The road to get to Lory Park is abit of a challenge due to the potholes and gravel road but once you are it's definitely worth it. There are lions, tigers, puma, jaguars, reptiles. There is food available and a nice quaint area to sit and enjoy your meal. The animals are extremely healthy and well kept. This zoo is well maintained.
Adrian S — Google review
I found it interesting that a fairly compact, peri-urban zoo, would host several big cats, including rare White Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Jaguar, and Cheetah, among others. While the holding enclosures at Lory Park might not be ideal, they are at least maintained in excellent condition, with hardly any unpleasant odour, making for a pleasant viewing experience. The enclosures offer great close-up viewing, with fantastic photo opportunities. Loved watching the Gibon swinging atop the trees and ropes. Several bird species and reptiles are also on display. Loved the antics of the parrot outside his cage. The Lory Park Zoo is a kiddies' haven, and a Lapa venue is available for birthday parties. A Cafe and Gift shop are also on site, with beautiful large trees providing peaceful, shaded seating. Walkways are easy to negotiate, and restrooms were well-maintained. Entrance feed are affordable, especially for kids and pensioners. A pleasant outing.

Nizamiye Mosque, located in the northern Johannesburg suburb of Midrand, is a stunning replica of the Ottoman Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, Turkey. The mosque offers a peaceful atmosphere for prayer and reflection and also features a small museum. Visitors can enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine and explore a variety of Turkish products at the onsite shops. The complex includes an expo area with Islamic artwork and Turkish building models, as well as a play area for kids.
The Turkish Mosque in Johannesburg is truly impressive. The mosque is very spacious and beautifully designed. It also has convenient facilities such as clean restrooms, shops, restaurants, and a parking area, making it comfortable for visitors and families. A wonderful place for prayer and community gatherings.
Mohamed N — Google review
The Nizamiye Mosque, also known as the Turkish mosque, is a beautiful place of worship. It has, however, also become a "tourist" attraction. It is huge and has a few shops and restaurants that you can grab a bite at or get a gift for a loved one. There is also a play area for the kids which makes for a nice cute family outing. We went there during ramadhaan and there were a lot of stalls to choose from. It did get quite packed though so if you do not have a booking at a restaurant be sure to pack food or else you will be like me and end up eating a sweet because all the places were back logged. I think it's a beautiful place to visit but perhaps not when it's quite busy
Haseena C — Google review
Nizamiye Mosque – Midrand, South Africa ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I had the opportunity to visit the Nizamiye Mosque in Midrand with my brother on 30th November 2022, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by the breathtaking Ottoman-style architecture. The mosque’s domes, minarets, and intricate interior designs are absolutely stunning, making it one of the most beautiful mosques in South Africa. The mosque is more than just a place of worship — it serves as a cultural, educational, and community hub. There’s even a play area for children, which makes it very family-friendly. One of the highlights of our visit was exploring the Islamic museum inside the complex. The museum houses rare historical artifacts, old copies of the Qur’an, and detailed models of famous mosques from around the world. It offers a wonderful glimpse into Islamic history and culture. The entire area is peaceful, clean, and well-maintained, creating a serene spiritual atmosphere. Whether you’re visiting for prayer, history, architecture, or simply to enjoy the beauty of the place, Nizamiye Mosque is a must-visit destination in South Africa. I highly recommend visiting with family and friends to fully appreciate the faith, culture, and history that this mosque beautifully represents. 📸 (Photos attached below)

Joe P — Google review
Officially opened in 2012. It’s a huge complex, not just a mosque. Besides the prayer hall, it has a bazaar, school, clinic, halls, etc. --- 🕌 Architecture & Design The design is modelled after the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, Turkey (built by the Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan in the 16th century). The Nizamiye Mosque is scaled to about 80% of that original design, adapted for South Africa. Main dome is about 31 m high and 24 m wide, made with about 48 tons of lead. It has 4 large minarets, each about 55 m tall, with stairs up to platforms. There are a lot of smaller domes / half-domes: 21 smaller domes + 4 half domes. Interior features: stained-glass windows (232), Turkish ceramics, calligraphy, a custom carpet, etc. --- 👥 Capacity & Use The main prayer hall can hold up to 6,000 worshippers (combined for men + women sections) during services. Apart from regular prayers, it hosts community events: Islamic education (madrasa / Hifz school), cultural seminars, feeding / outreach programs, a clinic, etc.

The 16-hectare area is ideal for picnics, peaceful strolls, and small events like weddings or corporate gatherings.
A very beautiful and well kept park on either sides of the road. Both sides connected by a walking bridge over the main road. One side has a beautiful big park where families can have their picnics and small trails which go to the top for lovely views. The other side is basically (easy) hiking and trails which is also a must do experience if you're into hiking. All in all very well maintained, clean and safe park

A lovely time was had! Clean. There are security guards and you have to sign the register. Parking is limited. Beautiful views. Trails are abit steep, but my 4 year old managed. Great place for a picnic.

What a special experience! So good to see this lovely park well maintained and organized. Justice took us around and thoughtfully explained parts of the walk and the artworks to look out for. Highly recommend you go soon as the Jacarandas are in season and you have great views of them on the skyline.

A beautiful and peaceful walking park with scenic views. The trails include some inclines and stairs, so be ready for a light workout, but it’s well worth it. My partner and I had a great time, even enjoyed some snacks along the way (which we brought as there are no shops in the park no nearby). Just a heads-up: parking is limited, especially on weekends, so consider taking an Uber to avoid the hassle. A great picnic spot as well.

The most beautiful spot in Joburg, an absolute gem of a find. James Delaney is the genius who has poured the love needed into making this what it is, together with City Parks. Amazing what love and care can do for our beautiful city of Joburg.

Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, a kids play area, gardens for picnics, and craft beverages.
Had to much fun with the kids. We went there for the 1st time. That Mall is very beautiful 😍 👌 and it's sooo big. I enjoyed every single moment there.

I enjoyed the chilled vibes. It's doesn't get packed. Food stalls are not a lot so very few options to choose from. Drinks stalls vary from G&T, cocktails, wine and MCC,craft beers and the non alcoholic drinks. There was a massage parlor but I wasn't impressed much by the goods stalls. They have a jumping castle for the kiddies. Plenty of benches and tables. There was a live band for an hour and then prerecorded music was played from speakers. Still a relatively new market and they should improve with time. I loved what I experienced thus far.

Waterfall Market provides a lovely diverse experience with the finest food and beverages and including art and merchandise to purchase. Happens every Sunday from 10:00am – 17:00pm, the ambience is relaxed and chilled, a beautiful site to picnic with your family and friends and listen to relaxed live music from various bands and artistes. There is a R10 entrance fee and no food or beverages are allowed in and it is a kid’s friendly zone. It’s a great way to end your weekend on a relaxed mood.

I enjoyed my time there, but I think I would have had a better time at farmers market. Otherwise I like their variety of food. They have burgers, wings, wors, steak and other foods. But I couldn't get beer, I couldn't find beer. Otherwise it is clean and refreshing

Nestled in the prestigious Houghton Estate of Johannesburg, The Houghton - Luxury Apartments offers an exquisite three-bedroom villa that embodies elegance and comfort. Just a short drive from popular attractions like the Johannesburg Zoo and Nelson Mandela Square, this property boasts an open layout with soaring vaulted ceilings and a private swimming pool for ultimate relaxation. Guests are treated to exceptional service with an on-site house manager ready to assist at any time.
I absolutely loved the place... It's a nish typa place at Houghton's hideaway. We were at their Spa.
Elanoar M — Google review
This hotel is bizarre. The room I was in, was perfectly designed, clean and pleasant. There are at least 5 swimming pools, food is good at the restaurant as well as at the deli. One star dropped because of redicolous small things like: extra charge for a coffee in an included breakfast (Are you serious?!). Another thing was that as a guest I did not feel free. The hotel hosts conferences in the middle way between the rooms and the swimming pool, where I was told to not pass "inappropriately". If I wished to go to the SPA, for example, should I be appropriately dressed? It doesn't make sense, does it? To summarise, this is an incredible hotel, where the management should be more creative and think how to make a best experience for the guests, rather than make them feel suspicious visitors.
Aviv G — Google review
On Monday the 31st of January i walked into the hotel and booked and paid gor a room, for my Fiance' and i, i notified Mr. Jabulani at reception that i was getting married on the following day, the 1st of February. I asked for the latest checkout possible, Mr. Jabulani said that 1pm was the latest checkout and there would be an additional charge of R1000 for the late check out, i agreed and paid. Mr. Jabulani, after registering that we would be newlyweds, offered the "Romantic Turn-down" as compliments from the hotel, i gladly accepted and thought, how thoughtful of the Hotel. Tuesday evening, around 23:30, we arrived at the hotel, after our Wedding Ceremony and checked into our room which was beautifully decorated for a New Bride and Groom. This morning, while having breakfast at 11am, by the pool in the hotel, the Hotel Reception called and asked if there was a chance that we could check out earlier than 13:00 as they had new guests arriving. I informed the Hotel Reception to please check their computers, as on Monday the 31st of January, i paid an additional R1000 for a late checkout. I asked the reception to entertain the New guests that were arriving at one of their pools or complimentary drinks on the hotel. Shortly after finishing out meal, we returned to our room to pack, at 11:45am. To our surprise, our access cards had been disabled, so no access to the second floor where our room was. Luckily one of the RoomService Staff were nearby, and opened our room for us. I called reception to find out why our cards had been disabled and was informed that the system automatically does this, even though i paid R1000 for a late checkout, the cards are automatically disabled at 10:30am. How convenient, they charge you extra, bit don't bother updating the system that you have a late checkout. We packed our bags and went down to reception at 12:15pm. Upon arrival at reception, i asked to speak with the Hotel Manager, Mr. Johan, who left us a note upon checking in, welcoming us to the hotel and wishing us the very best for the future. The Representative at reception clearly misunderstood me, and called the rooms Manager and not Mr Johan himself. Instead i was told that Mr. Johan, the General Manager of the hotel was in a meeting. The rooms manager sincerely apologised for the Inconvenience caused, and informed me that the additional R1000 that i paid for late checkout, was actually for the Romantic Turndown..... Clearly Lack of communication between all staff members there. Other than the Bell boys, Porters and the Waiters at the Restaurant, the rest of the staff are extremely unprofessional. Pity, such a beautiful venue, but such Pathetic service! I am definitely not going back there again. - Extremely Unsatisfied Guest

Where do I begin, me and my fiancee booked in for 2 weeks ( I have always wanted to try self catering service) when we get there firstly the view wasn't what we expected or what was advised, we decided to overlook it. We get into our apartment and we don't have dishes and cutlery, the room is dirty. We asked if we could get another and we get moved, in the other apartment we don't have enough dishes and cutlery, there's this big stain in the carpet. And all this on the first day. My fiancee asked for extra parking but no parking was assigned to us, the bed was sloppy and sheets were not changed once since we got there, sometimes house keeping doesn't do a proper job but you overlook everything because they are nice house keepers, as the days went by I wanted to do laundry....guess what the machine doesn't work. We reported it 3 days into our stay we stayed there for 2 weeks and it still wasn't fixed. Everytime you needed dishes you had to call house keeping, the carpets need to be changed. While we were there we had a family emergency and we wanted to cancel our stay and get refunded, no one could help eventually we were told we can't cancel, even in an emergency they will tell you about policies. That is inhumane your kids could get hurt and this place will not refund you. The manager Michael isn't helpful at all. I can write this the whole day and there wouldn't be anything great to write about. I know for sure we will NOT be coming back here anytime soon unless the Houghton Hotel takes over the apartments. Since we've been there reception has gotten complaints from other people in the apartments, it's horrible. Our room phones weren't working and were apparently being fixed 2 weeks and they weren't.

MINT Apartments Greenside is a modern aparthotel located in Johannesburg, offering self-catering rooms with convenient amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi and concierge services. The friendly staff provides responsive service, attending to requests promptly. The neighborhood is great with nearby restaurants and shops, although the entrance into the yard could use better visitor access control. The rooms are tidy and well-equipped, with some featuring spacious layouts. While there were occasional noise disturbances from neighbors, the overall stay was enjoyable.
Great location-felt safe to walk around, friendly staff, clean rooms, surrounded by different restaurants-lots of cuisines to choose from. Would definitely recommend 👌

I recently had the misfortune of staying at this establishment, and unfortunately, my experience was subpar. Upon check-in, I was disappointed to find that my room was not clean and was still busy cleaning after the check-in time was confirmed. This was a disappointing start to my stay. Furthermore, the service I received from the staff was rude and unhelpful. As a paying customer, I expect a certain level of courtesy and respect, which was sadly lacking during my visit. I hope that the management will take my feedback seriously and take the necessary steps to improve the cleanliness of their rooms and the quality of their customer service
Kenneth K — Google review
Not a terrible experience but by no means a good one there is NO instruction about where to park or how to get into the property with a car. We ended up driving around trying to park until a car guard let us know what to do. The lady at reception was also dismissive and unhelpful The rooms were incredibly disappointing. The TV in the room had NO chords? So how does once watch it. It was purely decoration. There was no hair dryer which is a standard in B&Bs. The floors and sinks were dirty. The shower didn’t drain fully either. Our towels had stains on as well. There was no bath mat either - so we had to use a towel to stop us from slipping Also incredibly noisy. The first night there were people outside our room drinking and smoking hubbly(hookah) until all hours of the morning Kitchen was poorly stocked as well for a long stay apartment. No drying rack for dishes or sponge to clean dishes. Overall very disappointing

*Location: great neighborhood with no incidents. However, the entrance into the yard desperately needs visitor access control. Maybe a fob. *Service: friendly and responsive staff. We had a few requests which were attended to urgently. *Rooms: Awesome finishes. Really welcoming. They however had no aircon.

A great option for me as a business traveler. Being in an apartment setting rather than a hotel gives me that feeling of space that I need when traveling. The apartments are clean and modern and the restaurant has the most amazing food and views. Probably the only downside to the apartments is the parking bays that do not run consecutively so makes it difficult to find. Staff at the reception are more than accommodating and always friendly and eager to assist.
Shanda S — Google review
This hotel is such a weird one. On one hand, it is very pretty and the rooms are well appointed. But the guest experience is horrendous, at least on check in. Prior to arrival, you’ll receive three or so WhatsApp Messages - a literal essay of instructions and codes, with the majority being warnings of all the various penalties and consequences for breaking any rules. How welcoming. You arrive, and security tells you to park in residents if you have a code. You then get lost looking for reception (if you take the lifts and end up near the restaurant, don’t go through the door - it’s touchless access on that side, but fingerprint access to get out again. You’ll likely ruin someone’s romantic date while the one person in the restaurant with fingerprint access comes round to open for you) - only to go back down, get lost again (because the signage is atrocious and ambiguous), and then find a teeny tiny office manned by a single receptionist who handles EVERYTHING, including booking rooms, extending stays, checking people in, and then of course - having to correctly advise on where to actually park (but the parkings aren’t numbered in sequence so, best of luck!), and getting a little lost themselves. Then they walk you to your room. Nice, but I’d be pissed if I was waiting at reception for them to return while on this epic journey with another guest. The receptionist, however, was lovely and did great - just bogged down by terrible procedures and processes. You then arriving your room and receive a “welcome letter”, which is just a repeat, and addition to, of all the rules and specific penalties and consequences for the breaking thereof (with some really out there issues, I might add). And I mean a full A4 page here. You read that so you can get the WiFi password at the bottom. And oh. Don’t forget the classy half filled 25L drum of water in the bathroom. Excited to see how the rest of my stay goes - but I can assure you this will be my first and last.

We went to the restaurant in this building. When paying for the parking ticket using a R100 note just a few minutes before 8pm, the machine did not bring out our R80 change. The call button was not being answered. The receptionist called someone and she said they were sending someone to assist. We waited until 9pm with no assistance. She was really annoyed also. The security did not know who can help. So to get assisted, we decided to park at the gate, because we had been waiting for one hour with no assistance. But we ended up going because one of the motorists offered to pay us our money. Still this is not right. If something goes wrong with your machine, there should be assistance in place. Nobody cared enough to provide a solution in this matter. Very upsetting.

How many ways can I say EXCELLENT??? The 2 bedroom apartment was first class. Very modern, quiet and spotless!!! I interacted with Reception (Penwell, Sandile, Victor, Megan, Jane, Caitlin and Neo) at various times throughout my stay. They provided professional and courteous service. The hostess Sisipho always greeted me with a smile. The Bar-man Duma waited on me late one evening after a long day. He was very kind, warm and patient. Every morning I was greeted by waiter's (Mehlali, Irene, Cynthia, Simphiwe and Godfred) during breakfast. You guys made my daughter and I feel at home. The food and the service were top notch. I also wish to thank the chefs with whom I had no interaction, but the food was delicious, fresh and beautifully displayed. Again, thank you all for making us feel welcome and at home. Will see you again soon!!!

I have been holding off for months - since October 28th - not desiring to write this review. However, we have had the worst experience with the customer service team at this hotel - particularly Mushaisano Mathekga the customer service agent who I’ve had at least 50 communications with since September of this year and sithembiso mkubukeli who I was told was someone in management from this location that could assist, but has not yet effectively. We booked a stay for a party of 16 people at this location for family vacation. Our initial complaint was when our rooms were given away and downsized a week prior to our arrival although we booked our reservations several months in advance (June 2024). We were never told our rooms were changed. I only learned of this a week prior to our arrival when reviewing our travel itinerary. It was an ongoing hassle to get our original rooms back after contacting corporate about the matter. It was tedious and stressful for a while as we were consistently told there were no longer rooms available with the quantity of beds we needed to accommodate everyone in our group. After days of reaching out every day until two days before our travel, the matter was finally resolved. Imagine traveling across the world with 16 people learning days before your rooms don’t accommodate everyone in your party!! We then had yet another issue the week after our check- out, which makes me conclude that this Marriott location does not value their guests. Upon checking out, I did not receive the proper points for our stay on my account. As a loyal Gold Elite member of the Marriott brand I expected to be fairly compensated with the points I should have earned for this stay. I’ve been given the runaround and there has been no loyalty or integrity from staff or management to resolve this issue in a timely manner. It’s now December - two months later, and I’m still waiting for this matter to be satisfied and my account to be credited. I am now reaching out to corporate for another intervention. This hotel may be nice aesthetically but the way they do business is questionable as their service is subpar. We won’t be returning and we don’t recommend.

Its a nice hotel. no doubt, however.. the room I booked online showed images of a room that had a kitchen and a completely different layout to the room i received. There was no kitchen in the room i received and the room had 2 double beds. Further, the one bed had an unsightly yellow food stain on the bright white bed cover. When i complained to the management about the incorrect room they were not very helpful or sympathetic to my problem. They said if I want a room with a kitchen i must pay extra. Based off my first experience with this hotel i will not be returning. Very disappointed!
Juliano A — Google review
Where do I start, I love love love this place. Very modern, large apartment with all the kitchen supplies you could need to make your stay comfortable. Great staff, kudos to Sithembiso Mkubukeli and Katlego Teffo for being such helpful and wonderful managers. I would honestly be happy to stay here every single time I need to get an apartment in a hotel in Johannesburg. 2 TV's, one in the lounge and the other in the bedroom, you can login to your Netflix and YouTube accounts on these too. Spacious gym as far as hotels go. The only real snag and only reason I stopped staying here is that as a Marriot Bonvoy Member, you do not earn the regular number of points per stay, only about 25% what you would if you were staying at the hotel side, for a few days I suppose it's not the end of the world but for someone like me who was there for a few months, that was a huge problem. Other than that, as someone who's stayed at a few other apartment hotels, this is definitely top 2 for me in SA from the big hotel chains.

I had to meet someone there for work. I wasn't there very long. But I was half an hour early so I sat in the car waiting a while. Street vibe at 1pm on a Friday afternoon was very 'New Orleans' getting ready for the evening festivities. It was pleasant. Inside... a bit "court/police station" my appointment was on the 2nd floor, I don't know how the other floors are presented, but the area I was in gave "very old, abandoned then refurbished hospital" vibes.

Decent Airbnb. The studio we stayed in was clean and had clean beddings. It gets very noisy at night until early hours of morning. Centralised location.

Highly recommended! We stayed in Cherry Room 🍒, it was pretty, cute, neat and got that awesome vintage look. The cottage situated in a good location which is nearby the shops and main road but still quiet enough if you were just wanna enjoy some tranquility. It has a beautiful garden too. Breakfast was good; fresh, fresh, fresh! My favourite amongst all are a very comfortable bed, fresh linen, and soft pillows; I'm telling you... They were just sooo good! It made me feel like not getting outta bed like whole day! 😍 Felt so relaxed... 😴. The pool was nice, it has that natural look with those trees and vegetation around. Meryl, the host - she very much cared about everything we needed during our stay; a very helpful and lovable person 😊🤗. Thank you so much to Meryl and John who were so good and made us feel like home! ♥ I definitely will come again - 💞
