Located in the upscale neighborhood of Melrose in Johannesburg, The Peech Hotel is a chic and elegant retreat offering fashionable rooms and a range of amenities. With its central location, guests have convenient access to the city's museums and shopping hubs. The hotel features 16 suites and bedrooms spread across a beautiful one-acre garden, providing a vibrant oasis with colorful design details and discreet service. Additionally, it offers an outdoor pool, gym facilities, and a bistro restaurant known for its delectable menu.
A true gem in Johannesburg — peaceful, stylish, and incredibly welcoming. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, the rooms were well designed and spotless clean, and the restaurant delivered delicious meals in a serene setting. A bonus was having a full gym with amenities just next door, which made it easy to stay active during my stay. Thoughtful details, lush gardens, and a calm atmosphere made this feel like a real retreat. I’d return in a heartbeat.

I have been in JNB a couple of times an usually we stayed at Saxon. This time we decided to try The Peech Hotel and was not disappointed. The rooms are great, the gardens amazing and they do have two swimming pools (would be nice to be heated). Unfortunately the Pot Luck Club was closed on Sunday and Monday. The area of the hotel is also nice and there is a park just across the street. Would definitely stay at The Peech again.
Andre K — Google review
Great experience here for a 2-night stay in Johannesburg. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and the hotel itself was cute with good amenities, a nice gathering space with a fireplace, food options, and pools to relax at. The soaking tub in the bathroom was perfect. The park across the street was nice for a daytime walk. Would recommend!

Phenomenal place! Absolutely loved our stay here and highly recommend! The staff and service were excellent. They have amazing room turndown service, the rooms are gorgeous, spacious, luxurious, and relaxing. It was a perfect refresh that broke up our two weeks of safari. The on-site restaurant is very good and we enjoyed being able to have dinner there twice with ease. The pool areas are very nice, but our stay was in September so the pool was not really warm enough to swim in, but we enjoyed being poolside. Only complaint is that coordination of our morning transport to the airport was messy. We e-mailed to confirm our transport plans, but the front desk did not have record of that. And the morning-of multiple drivers could not figure out which vehicle we were supposed to be in until we checked.

We stayed at the Peech Hotel in Johannesburg for one night as part of our honeymoon and birthdays. Since we weren’t in the hotel much, this is just a brief but helpful review: Highlights: The bed was incredibly comfortable, helping us rest well despite our short stay. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with glasses of champagne and partial petal decorations, which were a lovely and thoughtful touch for our special occasion. The location is pleasant and convenient, making it a great option for a 1–2 night stay in Johannesburg. Staff were helpful, especially when we needed to leave early and instead of a hot breakfast, they kindly provided breakfast boxes—a practical workaround we appreciated. We dined in the restaurant; the food was okay, but the dining area felt a bit quiet since we were the only guests at the time. Summary: An overall comfortable and pleasant place for a short stay, with some nice gestures that made our visit feel special—especially appropriate for celebratory occasions like a honeymoon or birthdays. A solid option if you're looking for a relaxed, uncomplicated stay with thoughtful service.
Nick C — Google review
We had a lovely time there and the staff was super friendly and open. We had to extend our stay for two extra days because my mom broke her arm; that was no problem at all, and the staff kept checking in to see how she was doing. Also the restaurant offers great vegan options.
Max — Google review
Somewhat dissatisfied with the hotel. The hotel is located in a relatively safe area of Johannesburg next to a beautiful park. Unfortunately service is not as sharp as one would expect for a premium hotel. We arrived on a Monday and discovered that the bar and Pot luck restaurant was closed. The best the hotel could do was to seat us in the lobby to have drinks. We were informed that we the menu in the cafe/breakfast room was the same as the Pot Luck. No, it wasn’t.

Very pleasant stay. Beautiful grounds, 2 pools, and spacious room. Friendly staff (Alex in particular gave a very warm introduction and showed us the room) Great restaurant and service too:)

Villa
Nestled in the upscale suburb of Athol, AtholPlace Hotel & Villa offers a luxurious retreat with its luxe suites and private villa. The hotel's eponymous restaurant provides a romantic gourmet experience amidst lush greenery, offering a thoughtfully crafted dinner menu and charming service. Guests can relax by the outdoor pool or enjoy the opulent library with a fireplace.
We all spent two exceptional days at this Boutique/ Hotel and was not disappointed in any way what's so ever. They provided us with a fantastic service and were at our Beck and Call and even went out of their way to provide us with extra out of the ordinary services like arranging items to be bought at a nearby Gas Service Station after hours for some of the guests who requested they needed something urgently. We were all taken a back by how they bent over backwards to see that all of our needs were met.

AtholPlace is absolutely the best in service, rooms, ambience, and food. We absolutely loved our stay here and only wish we stayed longer. The rooms are so luxurious and comfortable. The food was absolutely amazing! We can’t stop raving about it. We had dinner and breakfast there and loved everything they prepared. They go above and beyond. We traveled with our family and extended family (6 adults, 3 kids). The service is phenomenal-they think of everything and are so kind and helpful. This is definitely worth the experience!!

Just stayed here for one night after arriving from Australia and continuing on to Zambia. As a solo traveller, I found this property had so much to offer me and ticked all of my boxes. The rooms and beds are divine, such a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, with natural beauty all around the property and lovely birds in the morning. Very attentive and friendly staff. The food was to die for! Very high standard for a hotel, fresh and healthy. I will be recommending to all of my friends and family and clients. Perfect for couples, families (they offer interconnecting rooms) and business travellers. Only 30 minutes from the airport.

Excellent customer service from the first time you walk in their door until leave. Very peaceful place to get away from all the hustle. There food that was served was also divine. Overall I had a great experience.

We stayed for one night in this lovely hotel. It was quiet and very comfortable (insane bed). The breakfast was so good — fresh and tasty (best granola of my life). The staff were friendly and helpful. A great stop for a relaxing night !!!

We stayed here 1 night but it was amazing. For the welcome.. gym and breakfast. Unfortunately we didn't have time for the pool (and it as too cold). We loved every bit. Definitely come back. Service fantastic. Rooms very big and spacious. Important for coffee lovers. Nespresso machine in the room, close to your bed :-). Also good selection of tea. Breakfast waa amazing with the freah squeezed orange juice. Definitely come back.

We were taken to the restaurant for lunch. The Hotel is beautifully decorated and refurbished and boasts 5* rating. The food was excellent and deserves its rating as well. The Haloumi salad was delightful and the vegetarian curry was tasty and beautifully presented. The fried fish was not as good as I would have expected. The disappointment however was in the lack of skill and knowledge of the waitress, who was probably one of the housekeeping staff. She did not know which Rose wine was dry and I had to read the labels myself. She also had to return to the table to check our order and the table settings were not 5*. Parking can be a problem due to a lack of space and training of staff is needed. All four of us were disappointed considering the price and rating.

Having stayed for an overnight experience with my wife and 12 month old son, i can only say that they made each of us feel welcome and part of the family. My son even got his own bath toys and gown as part of the turn down. Rooms had everything we need and the staff were gentle and attentive to our needs with a baby. Dinner was outstanding and breakfast was superb. (have to try the scrambled eggs with truffle oil). I will definitely be back.

Hotel
Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa is a luxurious villa-style mansion located in Johannesburg's upscale Sandton neighborhood. The hotel offers individually decorated suites and villas, a spacious spa, and a massive gym. Guests can enjoy the high-end restaurant 'Into The Woods,' which features a menu sourced from the hotel's own vegetable garden. The outdoor pool and manicured grounds provide a tranquil escape from the bustling city, while the friendly and professional staff ensure a delightful experience for every guest.
We had the Tea in the Woods experience, and it was absolutely wonderful. Every little detail was so well thought out, making it feel truly special. We got to explore a variety of delicious teas paired with an amazing selection of sweet and savory treats , all beautifully presented and simply delectable. You can really taste the care and passion that went into everything. Chef Gareth and his team were incredible, ensuring the experience was seamless and memorable from start to finish. It’s a unique and delightful experience that I’d highly recommend ,definitely a must-try!

The spa “through the forest” is an incredible place to relax and catch your breath. Julia is an incredible massage therapist. I’d definitely come back just for her. It’d be lovely if other spa guests enjoying the facilities like the pool would be considerate and honor spa etiquette by not having the video calls on maximum speaker volume as this take away from others trying to enjoy a peaceful afternoon.
Kelly M — Google review
We had a business high-tea and it was the most amazing experience. The place is nestled in the hustle and bustle of northern JHB but once you enter the grounds… it’s peace and serenity abound. The gardens are lovely and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
Vuyo N — Google review
⭐☆☆☆☆ 2 stars We visited Fairlawns Boutique Hotel and Spa expecting a premium experience, and while the setting is beautiful and the food was excellent, the spa was an utter letdown. The treatments were monotonous and lacked any sense of care or attentiveness. I asked for a firm massage but received the lightest brushing over my body—at one point, the therapist was massaging my feet with just one hand. There was no technique, no flow, and certainly no passion in the treatment. My partner felt exactly the same. We visit many spas, so we know what a well-executed treatment feels like. This wasn’t it. The therapists seemed disengaged, and the whole setup felt like a conveyor belt operation—no personal touch, just getting people in and out. Considering the hefty price, what we received was nowhere near the standard you’d expect. You can get far better spa experiences elsewhere at half the price. Fairlawns has so much potential—the hotel and restaurant shine—but the spa experience drags it down. A real pity.
Anisa F — Google review
Absolutely stunning place. The staff are incredibly friendly. I had a spa treatment there and can honestly say it was so relaxing and luxurious. I felt comfortable and well taken care of for the full experience
Malerie B — Google review
I went to the restaurant and spa. The Spa is exceptionally beautiful with terrible service and for that reason I never plan to visit that gorgeous spa again. The restaurant also had horrendous service however the food is to die for unfortunately the food was so good I will have to go back despite the service. The door personal at the hotel is an absolute gentleman and so welcoming. Service 0/10 but I will go back to the restaurant, the spa isn’t worth that service they really ruined my birthday.

Had a very cute afternoon tea here - it was Alice in Wonderland-themed. Would recommend if you like trying afternoon teas. :)
Zahraa H — Google review
I booked the Serenity Saturday on 26 July which includes yoga session, spa treatment and 2 course lunch and to close off, spending quiet time by a fireplace. Wow sounds so exciting right? Only to be told that yoga was canceled sadly. The spa treatment was great! 2 course lunch was non existent, serene time by a fireplace also non existent. Instead I was given an option to order pizza. What a pity that such a beautiful place could make unfulfilled promises and to top it all of, the manager knew nothing about the promotion when I tried to explain.

Michaela N — Google review
My hubby spoiled me for my birthday by taking me to the Saxon Hotel. We spent one night there and were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived at the main gate until the morning we left. Everyone was incredibly and genuinely kind to us and somehow all the staff knew that it was birthday and made a point to wish me a happy birthday. I received a very generous serving of the most decadent chocolate cake that I have ever tasted and the 3 course meal we ate at their Qunu restaurant was by far, the most delicious meal I’ve had in a very long time! It was truly a wonderful experience. So then one must question why, if it was such an incredible experience, are they receiving a 1 star rating from me? The answer is simple. They reserved a R5000 amount on my credit card, and then refuse, or their bank rather, refuses to refund me the money. Why? No one can tell me. It’s been almost a month since we checked out of this hotel and the money is still not reflecting in my account. No explanation from their bank, despite me asking them to call me directly. I am still waiting for their call. I am now going to file an official complaint on the National Consumer Commission platform and whichever other platforms there are to file such complaints. It is a shame that such an amazing experience has to be tarnished by their bank’s lack of integrity to return money that does not belong to them. If/when their bank decides to return my money in full, I will give them the 5 star rating that the hotel deserves.
Molebogeng M — Google review
Absolutely wonderful service from the entrance. Enjoyed the views and drinks. Felt like a 5 star experience if it wasn’t for the security at the gate. Upon arrival we were told we are at the wrong entrance even though it was the correct entrance. We were then told if you don’t have an appointment we can’t accept you. We stood outside for a bit luckily a second security welcomed us so nicely and arranged a chauffeur to take us to the foyer where we were welcomed so nicely and taken to the bar. Our waiters were lovely and helped us feel comfortable from the get go. Thank you Saxon you owe us nothing. Just hope you can improve on the way your security attends guests when arriving. But other than that we were happy!
Zane V — Google review
Very comfortable and convenient. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and are always cleaned properly every day, not just a rushed surface clean. The hotel feels safe and the atmosphere is familiar. I like how the staff are both professional and helpful. Every stay so far has been a good experience.
Su S — Google review
Terrible booking experience. They first double booked me under different names. What was supposed to be a gift turned out to be a horrible mixup. Then they told me I couldn’t get the treatment I wanted which was weird. It was a gift and they called me 3x to confirm the time and booking but didn’t bother confirming the payment? They tell me after the treatments that the payment from the gifter is “pending” so I have to pay. What if it was my birthday? Absolute and utter garbage. The worst booking experience
Zandile M — Google review
As a luxury travel advisor, I recently had the privilege of experiencing The Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg, and it exceeded all expectations in terms of elegance, service, and hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to Denise from Sales for extending the opportunity to stay and truly discover the essence of this iconic property. I also greatly appreciated Lindo’s time and expertise in guiding us through the magnificent Nelson Mandela Suite and the beautifully kept hotel grounds — a truly memorable experience that reflects the history and soul of the Saxon. The team’s passion for service is evident at every turn. Lloyd, the Sommelier, is a standout — approachable, warm, and with exceptional knowledge. His ability to make wine both educational and enjoyable adds another five-star dimension to the stay and makes him an invaluable asset to the hotel. Equally impressive was the dining experience, led by the remarkable Restaurant Manager, Knox, and his team. Their service is among the very best I’ve experienced in Africa, balancing professionalism with genuine warmth in a way that makes guests feel truly at home while indulging in world-class cuisine. The Saxon Hotel remains an undeniable jewel in Johannesburg’s luxury landscape, not only for its legendary suites and history but for its people, who make every moment unforgettable. I look forward to returning and sharing this gem with discerning travelers seeking the pinnacle of African luxury.

Absolutely outstanding experience in every possible way - accommodation was luxurious, service beyond brilliant. Held a function there that The Saxon ran flawlessly. It is an unforgettable experience. Deserves all the accolades it has.
Gareth L — Google review
We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite. Lovely surprise. The hotel is 25 years old and has not been renovated. The age shows. Dark hallways and carpet smells of cigarettes. I am sure they no longer allow smoking but once smoke gets in carpet it is tough to get out. Base rooms are expensive and they need to do something about the wear and tear. My massage was not good. The therapist either wasn’t well trained or just didn’t care. Also, it was not 90 minutes. More like 70.

The Monarch Hotel, located in Rosebank, offers a classy and elegant stay in a historic 1930s building that was once a post office. With just 12 rooms and suites, the hotel maintains its original colonial styling and is filled with period features and art. The boutique hotel provides an intimate atmosphere for guests to enjoy stylish accommodations with period furnishings. Its central location makes it convenient for exploring on foot, while the restaurant serves delicious cuisine fit for royalty.
I'll admit, I wasnt totally convinced about this hotel at first, but honestly - I was so wrong! From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The room was spotless and comfy which was really nice after a long day... The location was a definite plus as the access to the mall is a 5min walk and you can even be taken my cart. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it exceeded my expectations!

An exceptional establishment which takes service excellence to the next level. My sons wedding reception was recently hosted at the Monarch Hotel , and to say the very least it proved to be a sumptuous experience for all. From the management team , to the staff & valets, I can only highly recommend it. The food provided in house by Ozzie was a culinary delight & proved to be one highlights of the day. A huge shout out to Bekkie , Sohail , Frank & the rest of the team ... I thank you once again.

We recently hosted a surprise 50th birthday high tea celebration at The Monarch and we are still buzzing from the incredible experience! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make the day unforgettable. The event was flawlessly organized — every detail was handled with care and professionalism. The team was warm, accommodating, and truly understood the importance of the occasion. They helped us keep the surprise under wraps, coordinated everything seamlessly, and ensured that our guest of honor felt truly celebrated. The high tea itself was absolutely divine. The presentation was elegant, and the selection of drinks, sweet treats, and savoury bites were both generous and delicious. Everything was beautifully arranged, fresh, and thoughtfully curated. A huge thank you to the entire team at The Monarch - especially Bheki for making this milestone birthday so special. We couldn’t have asked for a better location or a more memorable experience. Highly recommended for anyone planning a special event — you’ll be in the best hands!

Fantastic boutique hotel in the safe and conveniently located Rosebank area. Spotlessly clean, really lovely and attentive staff, tasteful and beautiful interiors, excellent food, quiet and spacious room, comfortable beds with high quality linen, La Occitane bathroom products, good WiFi connection, a green courtyard with trees - we couldn't have been more happy with our stay. The cherry on top was that they were able to cater for celiac disease and prepare safe gluten free meals for me. Travelling as a celiac can be very challenging so it was such a relief to find this place! The manager Shahid and all of the staff were so kind and helpful in ensuring I could eat safe and delicious food despite my dietary requirements. Thank you to the Monarch Hotel team for a perfect stay! Would absolutely recommend staying here.

Spending my birthday at the four seasons was the best decision ever made. It screams "NEVER settle for less". My friend and I spent 4days there and we were treated like the princesses we sometimes forget we are 😄😄. The smiles, laughter, kind gestures are definitely 💯 over 💯. Thank you making my stay amazing and my birthday unforgettable. Definitely coming back to dine at the newly renovated restaurant ❤️

We stayed at Four Seasons Johannesburg for 3 nights, and it was absolutely amazing. To be honest, our English skills are close to zero. We used Google Translate for almost everything, and honestly, we understood maybe 10% of what people were saying. But still — the South African staff treated us with so much kindness and patience. We truly appreciated their warm hospitality. The food was exceptional. We’ve stayed at many Four Seasons hotels, but the wagyu beef here was the best we’ve ever had. Even though we were unsure about tipping culture, the staff always remained gracious and helpful. We’re now heading to Botswana, but we will absolutely stay here again on our way back. There is no other option for us — it’s Four Seasons or nothing. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
A I — Google review
Breakfast at Flames Restaurant was a real letdown. For a Four Seasons property, the food quality was shockingly poor. The eggs were badly overcooked, the avocado was clearly past its best, and the overall flavors felt flat and uninspired. This is not the standard one expects when dining at a luxury hotel. The only redeeming part of the experience was the service—staff were attentive and genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, great service can’t make up for disappointing food. At this level, the restaurant should be delivering a far higher standard.

A. Oasis of calm and quality on the City of Gold. Staff, rooms, food, service exceptional and actually better than any FS I have stayed at globally. Team is great. Close to everything you will ever visit. High quality product that consistently delivers. This is, benchmark setting.

After so many years of dining at Flames Restaurant I am beyond disappointed today! What a horrible service we got at such a Beautiful establishment. I had to wait 20 minutes for a fresh glass. Our table was hardly ever cleared until we requested that they clear. Then we waited 3o minutes before receiving our bill! And the excuse from the manager is that they are under staffed😳 How is that a clients issues?!

What a wonderful experience! Whilst we stayed over the weekend, we also attended a Matric dance pre drinks event for our daughter and partner. The Westcliff is an elegant haven that blends relaxed charm with exquisite attention to detail. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels refined yet effortlessly welcoming. The setting is serene, offering a sense of escape, while every corner of the hotel carries a touch of sophistication. What truly stood out was the staff service — attentive, warm, and seamlessly professional, ensuring every experience was memorable. A stay here is nothing short of exceptional.

Spa
African Rock Hotel & Spa is a modern boutique hotel located in the tranquil suburb of Kempton Park in Johannesburg. The hotel offers a range of amenities including an airport shuttle, heated pool, spa and wellness center with various treatments available. Guests can enjoy comfortable rooms, lush tropical gardens, and top-notch cuisine for fine dining. The hotel also provides personalized meet and greets as well as airport transfers for guests.
Our stay at Africa Rock Hotel was the ideal way to end our South African adventure before heading back to the UK. From the moment we were picked up from the car rental drop-off in a plush vehicle, we knew we were in for something special. A short 15-minute drive brought us to the hotel, and we were greeted with refreshing welcome drinks – the first of many thoughtful touches that would define our stay. The hotel’s décor is a stunning fusion of modern elegance and local charm, with each piece telling a story. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a space that feels both luxurious and deeply connected to its surroundings. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and after settling in, we enjoyed a drink in front of the open fire – the perfect prelude to an unforgettable dinner. Speaking of dinner, the chefs at Africa Rock Hotel are truly talented. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the flavours were incredible. It’s rare to find such an expertly crafted meal in a hotel setting, but this was the kind of dining experience you’d expect at a high-end restaurant. A visit to the spa was another highlight of our stay. My fiancé indulged in a series of treatments with Wendy. The spa experience was peaceful and rejuvenating, and the calm, serene atmosphere provided the perfect escape after a busy holiday. Breakfast and lunch were just as impressive, with the African Omelette standing out as a deliciously unique twist on a classic. We couldn’t get enough of the fresh, locally inspired dishes that set the tone for a relaxed and indulgent start to the day. Our room was a true sanctuary. The freestanding bath was an absolute highlight, offering the perfect way to unwind. The overall design of the room blended modern luxury with comfort, making it the ideal retreat to relax in before our flight. What truly set Africa Rock Hotel apart, however, was the exceptional service. The staff struck a perfect balance between professionalism and genuine warmth. It felt less like staying in a hotel and more like being welcomed into the home of close friends. There’s a certain magic to that, and it made our brief stay all the more memorable. Sadly, it was time to say goodbye the following morning, but we left with the hope of returning one day. Africa Rock Hotel is the perfect blend of luxury, warmth, and authenticity – a place where every detail is thoughtfully considered. We’ll be looking forward to our next stay, whenever that may be.

Very unique. Great decor. Comfortable bed. The staff was engaging, personal, and warm conversations . Glad we stayed even if it was only for our conversations with the staff. Traveler note: we were in room 2. Very close and overlooking dining, kitchen, lounge areas. Could be noisy

Spectacular resort, to say the least. Exquisitely designed and very classy. The reception and restaurant areas retain the perfect room temperature. Warm when nippy, cooler when hot. Attractive area close to the airport, and an awesome pool. The staff are of highest calibre. Friendly, warm, sincere, and exceptionally well trained and well spoken. Primrose and Alistair in particular, not to mention the chef. Thank you for a wonderful, albeit somewhat short, stay. A home away from home. Highly recommended. 🤩🙏🏻

We stayed here as an overnight transit hotel of sorts, before venturing to our next destination the next day. Immaculately designed accommodation with great ambience some distance from OR Tambo and the busier city areas. It is within a gated area with security so you will feel safe. Rooms are comfortably sized, well furnished, and look great on photos. The bathroom floors in the rooms we stayed in were heated which felt awesome for winter time. Small downside is each room's hot water tank is not enough to accommodate the size of bathtubs (we ran out of hot water), so put off the soak and just take a hot shower. Service was also generally great, we ran into the issue where our hot water was used up and so the service manager let us shower in an adjacent unoccupied room. Service somewhat slipped on our final day when we checked out: no staff informed us of our transfer arrival and we also had to carry our luggage ourselves to the vehicle. Overall it was a nice relaxing stay. Recommend to book their half board as their food is also great.

My husband and I had an overnight in Johannesburg before our flight back to the states and our travel agent booked us at the ARH. The proximity to the airport and the safety of the area made it an ideal choice. It ended up being the perfect last stop. The rooms were spacious and filled with beautiful art and furnishings and the overall ambience of the hotel was tranquil. We were able to rest and recharge before a long travel day home. The staff was so kind and we enjoyed two delicious meals at the restaurant. I also loved all of the personal touches, you can tell how much time owners have spent making this a special place. The curio shop even has really special gifts and art that has all been locally sourced. We hadn’t been looking forward to our forced overnight before a long travel day but the ARH made it the best ending to our trip.

We had the pleasure of a one-night stay at ARH in July this year and cannot thank them enough for taking good care of our family. We wound up in the middle of a travel nightmare on our way from the States to Johannesburg and the hotel staff kindly took us in last minute. What a wonderful welcome to South Africa! The ARH staff was welcoming and caring and even assisted with getting us out for a quick shopping trip since we lost our baggage and needed warm safari clothes. Every moment at ARH was comforting and we were pampered with delicious food at dinner and breakfast, rooms were very comfortable, and the bath tub was a delight. The hotel is tucked in a quiet, safe neighborhood which creates a peaceful, cozy atmosphere and makes it very easy to relax. We will gladly return on our next stop over & hopefully stay a little longer to truly enjoy to place. Added plus, their boutique shop is quaint with so many options for memorabilia. I have to go back to get more!

Terrible room for so much. They gave us the small ugly room... dirty carpets. Correction its filthy. I was afraid to use the cups very expensive. Even sandton sun is cheaper. This is a suburban area not even the big city. Why are we paying so much for such small pondo room? The staff are nice and friendly thats about it. I will never come here again i am flabbergasted at the price I should have asked to see the rooms because in the pictures it looked big and beautiful and it showed 3.5k on Google maps. I should have declined. Im absolutely not happy. Only the service is good because the staff are friendly.

A Luxurious & Tranquil Escape at Parkwood Boutique Guest House⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟 From the moment I arrived at Parkwood Boutique Guest House, I was embraced by warmth and professionalism. Nestled in the heart of Rosebank, this 5-star gem truly delivers on relaxation, peace, and indulgence. Checking in was seamless. A welcoming gentleman greeted me with genuine hospitality, offering to carry my bags and personally guide me through the guest house. His thoughtful tour introduced me to the charming bathrooms, elegant lounge, sophisticated dining space, and their Honor Area, complete with an ice maker and tea/coffee facilities. Upon entering my room, I was completely enchanted—a true 10/10 experience! The space radiated luxury, with a spectacular **bathroom that fused nature and opulence in the most breathtaking way. The spa-style bathtub with power jets transported me to complete bliss. The attention to detail, from the bath amenities to the heated carpet, was impressive. While my experience was nearly flawless, I did encounter a couple of minor setbacks—the honest bar fridge, which meant items were not complementary, and the warm (not hot) morning water, which was a bit inconvenient especially now that we're in winter. The presence of spiders under the vanity sink was also unsettling for someone with a phobia, but considering it was late at night, I opted not to contact staff. Breakfast offered a fresh, quality selection, though the hot meal options were somewhat limited for those who don’t eat eggs, mushrooms, or tomatoes. Nevertheless, I found delight in seeded bread, bacon, avocado, muesli, granola, Woolworths yogurt, fresh fruits, cranberry juice, and other refreshing options. 🌟 Final Thoughts: Parkwood Boutique Guest House is a haven of elegance and tranquility. Their attentive staff, thoughtful amenities, and sophisticated ambiance make it a must-visit for luxury seekers. I would absolutely return—especially for a special getaway or event in the area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐️

My father and I spent a few days here and the accommodation and service was exceptional. Jean Paul, the hotel manager was so accommodating and catered to our every need and request. He is so wonderful and truly appreciated us being there our entire stay. Marcus the security guard made us feel so safe and he was so informative about certain places we were interested in that were within walking distance nearby. Marcus and Wilson were the best and made us feel so safe. Next time we visit Johannesburg, my father and I will stay at this place again.

Clico Boutique Hotel and Restaurant, located in Rosebank, Johannesburg, offers a luxurious and comfortable stay in a green neighborhood. The hotel provides high-end amenities and is pet-friendly. It's conveniently close to popular attractions like Zoo Lake and a shopping mall. The restaurant at Clico is known for its European-style cuisine with a monthly changing tasting menu created by chef Marnus Scholly. The dining space features modern architecture with unique ceilings and sliding glass doors that connect the indoors with the outdoors.
We only stayed one night but the service from start to finish was fantastic. Easy and friendly airport transfer from Dan. The room is lovely, spacious and clean. We dined in the restaurant and had the tasting menu. It was absolutely delicious and the staff were so attentive, especially Vince. They spoke us through each course, checked in afterwards and asked when we would be ready for the next course. Food was truly great- 5 courses pictures attached. Definitely recommend! Didn’t walk around the area too much so can’t comment on that, but love the security outside.

Room is very small and dated, the closet and dresser are all in small size version, very old and beat-up, drawer handles in the washroom are fallen off when you pull, no plugs-in beside bed tables and hair dryer is hidden "inside" the dresser table! This is far more than disappointing for rated as 5 stars. However, staff is very friendly and helpful, location is convenient and closed to the mall. Unfortunately, I will definitely not recommend.

Was quite surprised to have found this hidden gem, came during the week so the place was nice and quiet with a few tables. We opted for both tasting menus, the dishes were all very unique and delicious. Service from the waiter was great and very attentive. Definitely need to go back to try the pizza and pasta on their menu.

Everything was perfect from the moment they welcomed us until we checked out. My husband and I would like to commend Peggy and the security guard (sorry, I was not able to get his name) for being attentive, thoughtful and helpful. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. We loved our room. Peggy ensured that our breakfast was packed because we had to leave very early on our last day.

Our family of 3 and my friends family recently stayed 2 nights in three different rooms (with a gap of one week) on our trip to Africa. Clico Hotel staff were very communicative and helped us arrange travel to the hotel from the airport. They also let us rest in a room since we got there very early (7AM) and before the regular check in time. We were impressed by the delicious breakfast and also the restaurant in general. The staff were kind and very attentive and tolerant of the kids. There were a couple of small issues: the safe didn't work (out of batteries) and one of the rooms didn't have a bathroom door. Other things to be aware of (that are not hotel issues) include: mosquitos - they're definitely around and there are no nets; and the neighborhood. While Rosebank is upscale and we walked around during the day, we tried to walk to a restaurant a block away and got accosted and scammed by fake security people just around sunset.

If you're looking for a stylish getaway in Johannesburg, 54 on Bath is the perfect destination. Located in the vibrant suburb of Rosebank, this chic hotel offers an array of amenities including a well-equipped gym, a refreshing rooftop pool, and an elegant restaurant featuring a delightful champagne bar. One of its standout features is The Tea Lounge, where tea lovers can indulge in traditional South African afternoon tea complete with freshly baked scones and delectable pastries.
My wife and I spent 9 nights at the hotel from 17/5 to 26/5/2025. The staff are an example to all hotels around the world. Nothing was too much trouble for them, kind, efficient and proud to be a part of the hotel team. From April at the front door as we arrived to Penny, Ivy and the team in the restaurant, all team members should be congratulated. The room was spotless, the food was first class and the service was excellent. I would recommend 54 on Bath to anyone travelling the Johannesburg.

Truly a service-driven hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond - welcoming us with warm towels, welcome drinks, and helping with our bags until the moment we left. The restaurant was top tier. Every interaction was filled with genuine friendliness, even when we ordered room service at midnight. The food and cocktails were outstanding, breakfast was delicious, and the mimosas were the perfect touch. The best part? You can walk straight into the mall from the hotel!! Super safe and convenient. A stay that truly exceeded expectations! We will be back 🌟

It was a lovely experience overall. However, if you have Sun Rands, be sure to remind yourself to mention them before paying—because once you forget, the waitstaff usually won’t bring it up during the payment process. The frustrating part is that they often can’t assist you afterward, which is honestly their biggest shortcoming.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL - we suffered a terrible accident whilst guest there. My husband had to be ambulanced to hospital and had 7 stitches in his face. The hotel directed us to their lawyers for settlement of all the medical expenses incurred. The manager Nathan McMiles at the time said obviously the hotel would cover all expenses but now 6 months later the lawyers have closed our case and left us with huge outstanding bills that I am being sent from the hospital. When I posted a warning on another platform about the issues with this hotel, Madeleine Roux from the hotel responded to try and protect themselves and said to reach out to her with any issues - I have now done so on numerous occasions and she does not respond. We are left with huge bills and my husband has a lifelong facial scar and we are still being sent more bills from the hospital??

We went for breakfast and were thoroughly impressed. The prices were reasonable, the food portions generous, and the quality outstanding. Pathetic worst service at the restaurant. We were turned off by the waiter who took our order with so much disrespect and disinterest. He really needs some training as he was putting across his hands on the table picking up things while we were still eating. And we have been sitting for past 50 min precisely for our food order and there is no scope of the same. There is no rush here then too they have too much pain of delivering the food at the right time. Feels like leaving the place. Because of his behaviour we didn't give the tip and he dare to tear the bill in front of us. Thankyou Mk hope you get well soon. About food: okish food not worth the penny spent. Even the waiter didn't pass the request of making the food spicy. The salmon sushi was given with prawns. The prawns were too chewy. In all average food. Avoid this place if possible.

All I can say is utterly disappointing. This hotel is FAR from 5 star. Having been here a couple of times in the past, and for this reason chose it for a very special proposal celebratory dinner with family and friends, as well as staying over, I have to say this was extremely underwhelming. 1. Booking made with additional requests like a romantic turndown as well as spa treatment being totally botched. Was phoned 30 minutes before our suggested time of arrival, just to be informed that they had no idea about the turndown or spa treatment which I promptly requested AGAIN. 2. Upon arrival close to no help was offered with carrying our luggage, but a rude guest checking out was attended to and we were left standing there waiting on this debacle to come to a head. Eventually someone assisted, only to turn around with this person disappearing with our bags and once again we were stranded not even knowing where our room is. 3. Eventually finding the room, only to find the maintenance of the room was in a bad shape with the TV hanging on it’s last legs, no sound on the TV etc etc. Just NOT what you’d expect from a 5 star hotel. 4. Get to dinner in the cellar, extremely disappointed with the way the food was dealt with and we had to ask numerous times for the sides that were ordered with some meals, and eventually had to give up on some. We had one waiter which tried his best and was generously tipped, but I feel an intimate setting like that could be dealt with MUCH better by a restaurant/hotel, especially at these prices as well. 5. Arriving at breakfast the next morning, only to find no staff on duty and us standing around for a period of time before someone assisted us. 6. After breakfast I had booked a full body massage for me and my fiancé, only to be told that no booking was made and they had no record of the requests. Having done this through communication with “reception” on Bookings.com, I was just at my last nerve. We packed up and promptly left. All I can say is UTTERLY disappointing, and this on a day/weekend when you are celebrating something as special as an engagement.

Extremely disappointing service. My family costed the restaurant on 2 October 2024. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive. My sister and I ordered a seafood pasta and they didn’t add calamari (which is stated in the menu). It was only revealed to us once we asked. We still paid the full price for the two pasta dishes. On top of all of that, they did not include my crayfish tail in my takeaway box! It took at least 30min to receive our takeaways and the speed point to pay the bill. We spent a total of two hours at the restaurant and only ordered one round of drinks and mains.

Nestled in Pretoria, the Apogee Boutique Hotel & Spa is a luxurious retreat featuring upscale all-suite accommodations, a restaurant, and a spa. The hotel boasts an outdoor pool surrounded by manicured gardens adorned with sculptures and gazebos. The opulent rooms and suites are elegantly appointed with high ceilings, frescoed columns, regal upholstery, chandeliers, kitchens, and high-tech workstations.
A 50th Birthday Celebration to Remember – Thank You, Apogee! On 19 July 2025, I took my best friend to Apogee Hotel in Pretoria for a brunch and high tea to celebrate her 50th birthday – and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, it was exceptional in every way. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. It has this peaceful, elegant atmosphere with beautiful views and décor that manages to be both luxurious and warm. Every detail is thoughtfully put together – from the art on the walls to the soft lighting and lush finishes – it’s the kind of place where you exhale the moment you walk in. What really made the day unforgettable, though, was the people. From the gentleman at the gate to the team who greeted us at the door, every single staff member was professional, well-spoken, and genuinely enthusiastic. Not over-the-top or forced – just warm, polished, and clearly proud of where they work. A very special thank you to Mollie in reservations, who was incredible. She handled all the arrangements with such care and efficiency, and nothing was too much trouble. She ensured every detail of our celebration was taken care of so smoothly, and helped make the experience feel personal and special. Thando, our server, was an absolute gem – friendly, attentive, and just the right balance of professional and relaxed. He made us feel welcome from the minute we sat down and went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying every part of the meal. He genuinely seemed to enjoy being part of the celebration, which made it all the more meaningful. And a huge shout-out to the chef, who customised our high tea just for us. We had asked for a sweet-only menu (basically turning high tea into a dessert-lover’s dream), and wow – they delivered. Every single item was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. It felt indulgent in the best way, like a birthday should. The brunch was just as impressive – each dish carefully crafted and full of flavour. Honestly, the whole experience was just seamless. It’s rare to find a place where everyone, across every touchpoint, is that consistently excellent. You can feel that the team cares – not just about doing their job but about creating a memorable experience for their guests. Thank you to the fantastic staff at Apogee – Mollie, Thando, the chef, and everyone else behind the scenes – for helping me celebrate someone very special in a way that we’ll both remember for years to come. You outdid yourselves!!

We went there yesterday 02.10.2025 and the service was degrading .Was asked to reverse out and told at the gate "this is not a place that you just show up" The embarrassment yo. We had to reverse out. Then told it's the last time you show up without an appointment. Degrading service. That time we were coming to book a dinner for 36 ppl to celebrate our sister's Doctrate. Never again.

Not the best food. Dry pork ribs accompanied by fries. No vegetable or even garnish provided to make the food look attractive. Family member who had prawns and rice also did not enjoy her food. The only food enjoyed was fish with potatoes, sauce and olives and bread rolls. The children enjoyed chicken strips and fries but not the cinnamon ice cream. Very lovely set-up and views. Very friendly staff from the gate to the reception to the waitrons - courteous. Don't go there if you have not booked. Very disappointed with the food.

One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in where you feel like you're in the top of the world. Situated in a beautiful road with hotel rooms and restaurant having amazing views looking over the union buildings and the rest of pretoria or the beautiful gardens. This place is actually out of this world and you should at least visit the restaurant and get shown around to know what I'm talking about. One bizarre thing was that the toilet is very high so your feet dangle over the edge. Not going to keep me from coming back though, I can't wait!

I only ate at the restaurant so I Will only talk about it. The place looks stunning. Unfortunatly I came for dîner so didn't had the chance to enjoy the view during the day. But the food and the service were really great, I enjoyed every second of it. And as it was my birthday, they made me this beautifull plate forme dessert. I'll go there again for sure.

Made a booking for lunch online for 8 people at Tribute restaurant at Apogee, did not seem like there were any issues, until we got there and realized we needed to add 2 people. Apparently according to their policy, parties of 10 or more are subject to a separate venue booking fee of R1500 separate to the meal costs. This was not on the booking site and they acknowledged at the restaurant that we were not informed prior to arriving which would have been better and we could have made a plan to go somewhere else before arriving. The restaurant was rather empty and we tried to negotiate by two people from our party saying they'll sit somewhere else but still order meals. They were adamant that it was 'one booking' so we left without eating. It was ridiculous honestly and such an inconvenience . Would not go back or recommend as customer service sucked were made to feel cornered into paying a fee we were not made aware of.

Review is in relation to the resturant , not the hotel . A better reflection would be 2,5 because the food really doesn’t cut it for the price . Setting is beautiful but also marred by overly loud music . Waiters are pleasant but it is not fine dining . They don’t know the proper etiquette , leaning over us and leaving at sat with empty plates for some time . All the food was nice enough just nothing special . For the price you can certainly find better taste, quality and portion . Food is resemblant of food at hotel chains not a boutique hotel. Lamb chops much better than the Moroccan lamb . Calamari dish was decent . Dessert was enjoyable . Cocktails were hit and miss. Have stiff competition on the same street when it comes to dining fare

The Houghton Hotel is a luxurious destination suitable for various types of travelers, including families, couples, and solo tourists. This five-star hotel offers well-appointed rooms with WiFi access and provides an array of amenities such as a fitness center with classes, a top-notch spa, and a beautiful swimming pool with shallow areas. Additionally, guests can enjoy three international restaurants on-site. The hotel is conveniently located near popular attractions like golf courses, shopping centers, and historic landmarks.
We had a wonderful stay at The Houghton Hotel during our trip to South Africa. The hotel is incredibly modern and stylish, with very spacious rooms. The bed was exceptionally comfortable—exactly what we needed after a long flight. One of the highlights was the breakfast, very tasty and lots of options. The staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay, and we were especially grateful that they accommodated a very early check-in so we could rest right away. Although we didn’t get a chance to use the hotel’s amenities, we did take a look around and everything—from the pool area to the wellness facilities—looked top-notch and beautifully maintained. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, upscale base in Johannesburg.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Hotel for a business lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty and decor - it made me feel like, for a moment i was outside Johannesburg and in some international/cosmopolitan city. For a moment I felt like some important person, enjoying the good things in life. The food and service did not disappoint and just added to the experience. Good vibe. Good food. Good service. Real lifestyle!

I recently stayed at The Houghton hotel apartment that truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed with the seamless check-in process, which was quick, efficient, and handled by friendly staff who made me feel welcome right away. The level of service throughout my stay was exceptional—every staff member I interacted with was professional, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring guests had a five-star experience. The apartment itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and offered all the comforts one could hope for. Everything from the décor to the amenities reflected quality and attention to detail. The environment was both elegant and inviting, making it easy to relax and feel at home. I particularly appreciated the cleanliness, which gave me peace of mind and added to the overall comfort of my stay. The location was another highlight, situated in a secure area that allowed me to move around with ease and confidence. Knowing that safety was prioritized added to my sense of relaxation. Overall, this hotel apartment provided a five-star experience in every aspect—service, comfort, cleanliness, and security. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would gladly return again without hesitation.

Incredible property. Great facilities, customer service was some of the best we’ve ever experienced. Staff went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The penthouse was sizeable with ensuite bathrooms in each bedroom. There was housekeeping and evening turndown service daily. There was lots of variety for the breakfast buffet and we could order a hot breakfast a la carte which was included in the breakfast as well. My fave was the mango juice. The gym was one of the best hotel gyms I’ve been in. We did not have enough time to use the indoor pool but it looked lovely. We will all definitely be staying next time we are in Joburg! My only negative would be that the hot tub was way too hot (which sounds silly but we couldn’t sit in it due to how hot it was). The outdoor pool was cold so my 2 year old niece couldn’t swim and the hot tub was too hot for her too. The indoor pool is 18+ which meant she was not able to swim at all during our stay.

Never, I said never gonna back to this Hotel. I have nothing to complain about the room and the place, but the way that we are treated is unbelieveble… when we are doing the check out they said that we take/stolen a towe and made us open the luggage and they didn’t find ANY towel in our luggage! This is kind of gesture that a 5 star Hotel act????? We have to pay extra money to to cab that have to wait for the procedure of searching bags! Please take care and keep in mind that you and your family will be searched!!!!!

Our water heater didn't work and our washing machine was broken and water went everywhere. I made a call and someone was there in 5 min to replace the washer, clean everything up, and get is hot water. The rooms are really nice and the staff is friendly.

Rooms nice, but you can see wearing of the suite as I can imagine lots of parties and lots of guests smoke or damage furniture in the rooms. Floor was scrapped and finishing looking tattered, take your own extensions and cell phone charger adaptors as rooms adapter in really poor condition. Also the Wi-Fi on 23rd floor extremely poor. View excellent and the unit more like apartment than a Suite as advertised. Hotel restaurant amazing food perfect and experienced and professional staff, also receiving service excellent. Just ignore security doorman that sits at mall entrance from the hotel as these staff members extremely rude and not very helpful, more concerened watching tiktok on their phones than assisting guests.

My stay at Michelangelo Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, was average. The rooms were disappointingly tiny, limiting comfort during my visit. The amenities provided were few, and I found myself missing certain conveniences that I've come to expect from hotels in this category. Service, while not terrible, could certainly be improved for a more seamless guest experience. The staff seemed less attentive compared to other places I've stayed. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel's location in Sandton is convenient. However, for a more satisfying stay, enhancements in room size, amenities, and service quality would be necessary. A three-star rating reflects the mixed experience encountered during my visit.

We loved our stay here. From the gate to the room and the restaurant, everyone made us feel very welcome and in such a relaxed but professional way. We loved all the artwork and decor placed around the venue. The relaxed layout and vibe is perfect if you find the "stacked" layouts of normal hotels tiresome. A pity it's only one night, but we will be back. We did not take enough photos, but I did get one of my morning cuppachino, which was a fanatastic start to the day.

Has been awarded the best hotel in Pretoria award in August 2025 by Tshwane Tourism and I can see why. Very personal with a curated art collection of especially statues, quiet corners to sit near trees, a restaurant So Subtle with excellent collection of South African wines as well as well-equipped board and conference rooms. Rooms for accommodation well staggered over terrain and very private. So enjoyed dropping in for a meal and to enjoy Pretoria's golden hour next to a fountain. Paying my own way and this is not influencer marketing.

A beautiful place, really feels like an oasis. They have an amazing picnic service, you book for a picnic basket on a day, and they have a lovely spread for you on the beautiful lawn, kids can play or go for walks, there's a little creek with a small mini dam. Haven't been there in a while but had a lovely time the last time I was there. In winter they setup an amazing fire place in the lounge , so cosy!

An enjoyable two days, friendly and helpful staff, food very good, setting beautiful. A pity there was no gas for the fireplace the second night. Struggling to be 3 star!!! Should not advertise as 5 star. The rooms smelt like smoke and sewage. Shower was dirty and mouldy. No soap in the bathroom. Service was slow and staff struggled to communicate. No atmosphere in the hotel or outside areas. Pool was dirty and not maintained. Dinner advertised as four course but we chose not to eat here based on the other experience, very disappointing experience.
Bronwyn T — Google review
This place has some of the best service and food that I have encountered, they did an awesome job at treating my wife and I to a proper anniversary there, with a room that was brilliantly prepared and turned down, and they went the extra mile in terms of meals, provided us with our own private dining area and 4 course meal. Very impressed and would definitely return. The only down side that I can comment about is the water supply, as its pretty brown and not safe for consumption, but you are warned about this, and bottles of water are provided for you. I would have given it 4 stars due to this, but the service makes up for this 10 fold. We will be back!
Steven C — Google review
We came here for our babymoon. It was quiet and peaceful although there wasnt much to do at the property. We walked around the trail for about 10mins and that was it. The rooms were okay - it was small and there were small cockroaches which was a let down. The breakfast was great but the dinner (4 course meal) was very expensive for R420 p/p. Poor coverage of wifi in the room, we couldn't connect at all 😔 I think for a 5 star property, I expected a bit more. Maybe a better value for money and more activities in the future.

A Perfect Wedding Venue with fantastic staff and manager – Unforgettable Experience! We recently celebrated my daughter’s wedding at Castello Di Monte, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue. From start to finish, the entire experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Sharron and her event planning team was absolutely phenomenal, guiding us through each detail with care and professionalism. They were responsive to all our requests, and their attention to detail truly made the day unforgettable. Every aspect of the wedding was executed flawlessly, from the beautiful ceremony setup to the elegant reception that followed. The hotel’s grounds are stunning, offering a breathtaking backdrop for the ceremony and photos. Our guests were constantly complimenting the location and its beauty. The indoor reception space was equally impressive – tastefully decorated, spacious, and perfect for dancing and celebrating. We were also blown away by the catering service. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure that the bride, groom, and all our guests were well taken care of. Their hospitality, warmth, and efficiency contributed so much to making the entire event smooth and stress-free. We had high tea on Sunday 12:00, no one greeted us. The food was OLD & cold, the scones was dry, the macaroons broke in pieces, sandwiches was hard, tea was cold, sweets was a joke can buy better at the SPAR. Water was given hot without ice. We were shocked by the super bad food and service. The place is stunning and 360 degrees views of Pretoria at the top, unfortunately was not enough to safe the day. Super disappointed! It supposed to be a great Valentine’s Day lunch... it was a huge disappointment. We paid in advance for 3 course meal and there supposed to be live entertainment included in the price, but it wasn’t. No apology no explanation. Table was not prepared in time. Waiters were careless and not supervised. Food was bad, steak dry and obviously prepared in advance and just warmed up. Food was served in hurry without breaks. Water was served warm without ice or lemon. Bread was put on the table with melted butter after the main course. We would have better service at KFC. This is not a 5 star establishment and should be reassessed. Will not visit again and would not recommend.

When your personal circumstances change and you decide to cancel your wedding months in advance of the wedding date (*and before the national lockdown*) and still according to their contractual regulations, staff personalities do a 180 degree flip, phones get put down in your ear before you are finished speaking, emails which were instantly replied to before the cancellation, are now emails that are ignored and the process of getting hold of them becomes an absolute nightmare. They don't abide by their own contract and make false promises to keep the money (and quite a large sum) that they owe to you, for as long as possible. A venue I considered one of the most beautiful, romantic and inimate venues in the country, has now lost all its magic and started to show its true character. Be very careful to do business with them.

A Hidden Gem of Luxury & Tranquility – Cliffside Boutique Getaway ✨️ Nestled in the heart of Northcliff, Cliffside Boutique Getaway is nothing short of breathtaking. This place embodies peace, luxury, and personalized hospitality in the most exquisite way. From arrival to departure, every detail was executed to perfection, making this an experience beyond a 5-star rating. The Arrival & Warm Welcome: Driving in, the steep entrance added a bit of an adventure—but no worries! Ntate Elias rushed to assist, ensuring a smooth entry with genuine care and kindness (future guests, rest assured—you are in good hands). As I stepped inside, I was warmly welcomed by Mmatau, who guided me to the lounge area to complete my check-in. And then—what a surprise! A refreshing lemonade drink appeared out of nowhere—easily the best in town! The Property & Views: From the moment I explored the space, I was mind-boggled by the beauty surrounding me. The lounge area led into the honest bar, featuring premium drinks at reasonable prices, followed by breathtaking outdoor scenery. The panoramic view overlooking Northcliff—and possibly the entire Gauteng province—is to die for. ⛰️The pool area, surrounded by lush greenery, and the mountain backdrop with a miniature waterfall, created a surreal atmosphere. Even the tea/coffee station impressed, featuring fresh oranges, bananas, and a delightful old brown cherry selection. 🌄The Sunrise Room – Beyond Perfection: I had the privilege of staying in the Sunrise Room, and honestly, words fail to do it justice. The pictures? Magnificent. But in reality? 100× better. From the elegant layout, luxurious flooring, plush carpets, dreamy bed, gorgeous wallpaper, and bathroom fit for royalty, everything exceeded my expectations. 🧾The personalized note left by the team made me feel truly special, and having a fully stocked complimentary bar in my room was a wonderful treat! 🔭Unique Experiences: This place is more than just stunning—it is interactive! Spotting a telescope in their pictures, I asked Mmatau if I could try it out. Ntate Elias kindly brought it to my balcony, allowing me to gaze into the night sky—it was a moment of pure magic. 🔥Comfort & Coziness: Later, after an unforgettable hike with mesmerizing sunset views, the staff made my evening even more special. They set up a fireplace, brought me a blanket, and offered a selection of books and games for those who love a cozy night in. 🍲Dining – A Culinary Delight: Dinner was made with love, fresh and beautifully prepared. And breakfast? Absolutely mind-blowing—every dish was crafted to perfection. Final Thoughts: Cliffside Boutique Getaway is not just a 5-star escape—it is an experience beyond measure. The owner’s vision of a haven for relaxation has been beautifully brought to life, and the staff’s kindness and passion make all the difference. A word of advice? Book for at least 3 days—one night is simply not enough. I left feeling refreshed, cherished, and already planning my return! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Located in the Cradle of Humankind, Lion & Safari Park is a must-visit destination near Hartbeespoort. It offers an immersive wildlife experience with opportunities to see majestic African animals such as lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and zebras. Visitors can enjoy guided safari drives and self-driven tours for intimate views of these creatures in their semi-natural habitats.
Amazing to drive with the animal and see beautiful landscape. If and if only you have a 4x4, you can practice off road path. It's awesome to do it and you have a nice view on the top of the hill. You also can after your safari have a break to the restaurants. Simple food, not expensive, cold beer... Last but not least, around noon please be in the cage number 3 or 4 to see the medic fill the lions... It's impressive.

An Unforgettable Self-Drive Safari Experience! 🦁 We absolutely loved our visit to the Lion & Safari Park! The self-drive safari was an incredible experience — the park is beautifully maintained and offers a perfect balance of adventure and safety. Seeing lions and lionesses up close in their enclosures was both thrilling and awe-inspiring. The animals looked well cared for, and the enclosures were secure, allowing us to fully enjoy the moment without any worries. The whole experience was smooth, scenic, and truly memorable. Highly recommend this park to anyone looking to get a real taste of African wildlife up close — it’s well worth it!

Absolutely loved my visit to the safari park! It was a truly lovely experience to be so close to nature and see such a wide variety of animals. The lions were magnificent, the giraffes were so elegant, and the herds of zebras and antelopes were a joy to watch. We also spotted hyenas and beautiful peacocks. It felt like a real safari adventure The park is well-maintained and all the animals look healthy. I highly recommend visiting for an exciting and memorable outing.

Always have had a good experience at this park every time I've come. The self drive is amazing. Your definitely going to see the animals up close and in your own time. The location and place is well set out. They have a huge gift shop which is quiet cool and separated over 5 domes. They also have a giraffe you are able to feed there. They also have restaurants onsite. The website states they are "halaal friendly" but haven't elaborated anymore. The one restaurant I asked said they weren't halal.

We were very lucky to do the tour with Alex and have him all to ourselves! I told him on the day that it was one of the best afternoons of my life (he replied I must have had a very boring life!) and I still feel the same. The opportunity to see these amazing, beautiful big cats so close up (very very close up!) was something I never imagined I’d have. And to hear Alex talk about his life with them and see first hand his relationship with them made it even more special. If you have the chance to do Alex’s tour - do it!

Such a memorable day. It was my birthday so it was a great way of celebrating it here with all the animals. Lions are so beautiful and we were lucky enough to see the leopards. There are some places you can walk around and take photos. Also dont miss the other lions across the main road.

Incredible experience! The variety of animals was amazing, and the quad biking was unforgettable, we got so close to the wildlife. Our guide was excellent and really made the tour special. Highly recommend visiting!

This was truly an unforgettable experience. The majestic presence of the animals was quite uplifting. The tour guide, Princess, was both knowledgeable and helpful. I participated in the two-hour tour on a Sunday, which was ideal, as I had the opportunity to witness the lions being fed. I would certainly recommend this park.

The Union Buildings, designed by Sir Herbert Baker and completed in 1913, serve as the official seat of the South African government and house the President's offices. Situated atop Meintjieskop near historic landmarks like Church Square and the Voortrekker Monument, these imposing structures are surrounded by expansive gardens. Symbolizing the Union of South Africa, they have been witness to pivotal moments in the country's history, including Nelson Mandela's inauguration in 1994.
The Union Buildings Gardens are a wonderful place to relax and unwind. With beautifully maintained lawns, shaded walkways, and an atmosphere of peace, it’s perfect for a quiet afternoon. One of the highlights is watching the sunset—the view from the gardens is absolutely stunning, with the cityscape bathed in golden light and the sky painted in soft hues. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll, enjoying a picnic, or simply sitting on a bench soaking in the scenery, the Union Buildings Gardens offer a memorable and refreshing experience.

🏛️ Iconic seat of the South African government, overlooking Pretoria 🌄 Set within beautifully landscaped gardens with panoramic city views 🗿 Features the Nelson Mandela statue — 9 metres tall with arms raised in triumph 💣 Two Long Tom guns and a war memorial mark the site’s military heritage 🧺 Ideal for walks and picnics in the peaceful terraced gardens 🚗 Ample parking, clean toilets, and visible security on site ☕ No visible café or shop, but plenty of open green space for visitors Full Review The Union Buildings are one of South Africa’s most recognisable landmarks — a magnificent architectural complex set high on a hillside overlooking Pretoria. Designed by Sir Herbert Baker and completed in 1913, the twin-winged sandstone buildings form a powerful symbol of national unity and democracy. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush lawns, tiered gardens, and wide terraces offering sweeping vistas across Pretoria. It’s an ideal spot to stroll, relax, or simply take in the grandeur of the setting. Two historic Long Tom guns frame a war memorial positioned between them, paying tribute to those who served in earlier conflicts. Across the gardens, the commanding Nelson Mandela statue — standing 9 metres tall with outstretched arms — overlooks the capital, symbolising peace and reconciliation. Security is reassuringly visible, and there’s ample parking as well as clean public toilets. While I didn’t spot any cafés or shops, many visitors were enjoying picnics on the lawns beneath the buildings, making good use of the open space and sunshine. It’s hard to think of a more impressive or immaculately kept location in Pretoria — a place that combines architectural splendour, historical weight, and peaceful surroundings in perfect balance. Absolutely worth a visit.

Terraced lawns step you up to a view that slows your breathing. The statue feels welcoming rather than grand, and sandstone curves catch light in a way that makes every photo look intentional. We wandered the gardens, read a few plaques, and sat on warm steps longer than we meant to. It’s a place that handles both ceremony and everyday life—wedding photos in one corner, a picnic in another, a quiet pause on a bench in between. We left feeling lighter and a little proud.

The Cradle of Humankind, a 131,000-acre World Heritage site in Gauteng province, is a place where visitors can explore caves containing primate fossils and rich wildlife. The area is home to some of the oldest hominid fossils ever discovered and offers the opportunity to experience the 4-million-year-old Sterkfontein Caves. At the Maropeng Visitor Centre, guests can learn about fossil and excavation discoveries made in the region over the years.
Fascinating and interactive exhibits of our origins...and No! We don't come from Monkeys or Apes! Very well maintained, excellent facilities. The boat ride was exhilarating and real. A must visit for everyone and yes! Kids can go too

We had been to museum only, the cave was not allowing visitors after 4pm if I remember correctly. The staff were friendly and cordial. There is also a water slide at the end of the museum tour that takes us right to the exit. I would not recommend driving all the way from Johannesburg just to visit the museum.

I'm still in awe of how this place was constructed and to add an exceptionally world class staff to go along with it. A place for everyone to atleast experience once. Do not waste your time at the "Upside-down House" like we did. Great to know us South Africans can collectively build something as beautiful as this when there are no politics involved.

Sandy N — Google review
We made a day of it and I’m glad we did: started at Maropeng for the big-picture story, then drove over to Sterkfontein Caves for the underground bit. Maropeng’s exhibition is easy to follow (there’s even a short underground “boat ride” at the start), so you ease into the science without feeling lectured. The building itself—the grassy “tumulus” mound—looks great in photos, and the upstairs restaurant is a handy spot if you want a sit-down with views. The caves were the highlight for us. Tours are guided and run through tight, low sections—totally doable, just wear grippy shoes and be ready to duck. This is where the famous “Mrs Ples” and “Little Foot” fossils come from (the originals are not in the cave, but seeing the chambers adds real context). As of April 2025, Sterkfontein is open Tues–Sun, 09:00–16:00 (last tour at 16:00); booking a time slot online made the day better.

Satyagraha House, also known as the Gandhi House, is a serene bed and breakfast located in Johannesburg. It holds historical significance as it was the residence of Mahatma Gandhi during his stay in Johannesburg from 1908-1909. This house played a pivotal role in the development of Gandhi's philosophy of passive resistance, known as Satyagraha. The property offers a garden and garden view, providing guests with a tranquil atmosphere.
Visiting Satyagraha house was deeply inspiring. Walking through the same space where Mahatma Gandhi lived and develop his thoughts of Satyagraha gave me a new inspiration. House was beautifully preserved especially pics of Mahatma and Hermann Kallenbach on the walls told a poweful story of friendship and I felt like walking through living history !

This historical place is converted to small hotel and museum. All the rooms where the legendary people like mahatma gandhi and his colleagues stayed can be chosen by us to stay if interested. Food has to be informed in advance if we need to have it there. Museum was informative . 30 mins required but ticket bit too expensive for a small museum.
Ankur M — Google review
Small, serene, and deeply personal. The exhibition is compact but thoughtful, and the house’s architecture adds to the calm. Staff keep numbers low so you can move at your own pace and actually read. You’ll be done in about an hour, but the atmosphere hangs around. Book ahead and treat it like a quiet interlude in the city.

We loved our stay at Satyagraha, it is truly an oasis of peace in the city. Full of history, beautifully decorated, service is impeccable, staff is very thoughtful, and constantly seeking feedback and ideas of improvement, of which, there are none in my opinion, as it is perfect as it is. Last but not least their toiletries smell delicious and they have some merch you can buy.

It was in a very peaceful green setting and immediately made me feel calm. The accommodation is fairly primitive, in keeping with the time period and the information about Gandhi well set out and easy to assimilate. Lovely photos of his family, friends, work and travels.

This is a wonderful place! We came from Russia and really wanted to visit it. How lucky that it was open to the public. The staff is very friendly, we enjoyed communicating with them. Here you can learn a lot of details about Gandhi's life and just have a good time, since the museum's territory is a pleasant garden with flowering trees and benches for a relaxing. Thank you for this place!

Good place to visit if you want to know Gandhi’s life in South Africa. Lots of history. Can spend at least 2 hours learning and reading about him. There’ll be a guide explaining his life in SAF for 15 minuets and then you’re free to stay around and learn as much as you want. I heard a lot of about the meals there but be aware that you have to book in advance to be able to have a meal there. Very well maintained place. Also offers lodging for folks who want to stay over night. 5 star.

Melville Koppies Nature Reserve in Johannesburg is a historic and geological treasure, with evidence of human habitation dating back as far as 500,000 years. The reserve's rocky koppies preserve the natural landscape before the discovery of gold in 1886, offering stunning views and a diverse range of indigenous flora. This 150-hectare reserve provides an excellent opportunity for urban hiking and is also a significant site for early human history.
It is an amazing reserve in the heart of the city. To hike here is fantastic. You get a map at the gate and the very well marked markers correspond with the map. It is thus easy to hike here. The map even shows the gradients. It is a beautiful nature experience and ideal for birdwatching as well.
Placed E — Google review
Lots of fun and activities. Mountain hiking is a great way to keep your mind focused.
Portia M — Google review
Melville Koppies Nature Reserve surprised me with how “properly wild” it feels for a spot so close to the city. The rocky ridges give you honest climbs and rewarding views of Joburg, and the fynbos and grasses make the paths feel like real veld rather than a manicured park. I liked the sense of history too—you’re walking through an area with archaeological significance, and guided mornings add useful context without dragging on. Trails are short to moderate but can be steep and stony, so wear decent shoes and bring water. There’s minimal infrastructure on the Koppies West and Central sides—no cafés, limited benches—so plan for a self-sufficient outing. Wayfinding is better on the guided days; on self-guided visits, stick to marked paths and take it slow on the loose sections. Safety felt fine during the guided group walk; for solo or small self-guided visits, I’d go earlier in the day and keep to busier routes. Parking near the designated entrances worked for us, and the volunteer team was friendly and organised. If you enjoy birding, bring binoculars—sunbirds and raptors make regular cameos—and a small backpack keeps hands free for the scrambles. Overall, Melville Koppies is a great “close-to-town nature hit” that still feels raw and authentic. Come for an hour or two, expect dust on your shoes and a bit of leg burn, and you’ll leave with wide views and a calmer head. I’d recommend it to walkers who like short, scenic trails, photographers chasing city-and-koppie shots, and anyone wanting a quick reset without driving out of Joburg.
Jennifer M — Google review
Easy hike, suitable for kids. Friendly and helpful ladies helped at the entrance. Maps for easy hikes. Good views from the top.. there are also chiars where u can sit n watch views from the top. Great history of geology as well. Treasure maps for the kids. Good hike, 5km.
Khashifah S — Google review
In the heart of the City, Melville Koppies will take you back to the natural surroundings as they were 500 years or so ago: where "indigenous" means indigenous to the area, and not the country. To hike here is to recover the sights and sounds, the birds and other creatures of the ecosystem largely as it was before gold fever swept the landscape away. Its a tribute to the small group of volunteer activists whose vision keeps it alive, and the band of of volunteers whose labour and sweat makes it happen.
Ilinkcs — Google review

Located in one of Johannesburg's most affluent and safe neighborhoods, The African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel is perfect for luxury travelers. It offers chic rooms with exposed brick walls, leather headboards, and wood floors, as well as a swanky restaurant, a chic bar, and poolside cabanas.
Spent one night at the downtown Johannesburg location for our last day after a two week Safari. Front entry way inside the hotel has a definite wow factor. Beautiful all around. Check-in was very easy and quick and front desk staff extremely friendly. Nathaniel was top notch, greeted us with “holy” water and even gave us a quick walk outside to give us the layout of the shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel. Just by chance we mentioned to him that this was also a honeymoon trip for us and would be our last evening in South Africa before flying home. When we entered our room it was littered with rose pedals with a heart shaped rose bed of pedals on the bed. Champagne with glasses and a welcoming note from the staff. Couldn’t have been more surprised and grateful. Had dinner in the evening at one of their fine dining restaurants downstairs. Excellent food, drinks and atmosphere. Again the staff was nothing but amazing. Enjoyed the continental breakfast in the morning and it was more than could be imagined. Absolutely first class. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it. Would love to stay here again when we get a chance to visit Johannesburg again.

The Best Hotel Experience in the World From the moment we arrived at African Pride by Marriott, we knew we were in for something special. This is, without a doubt, the best hotel we have ever stayed in — anywhere in the world. The hospitality is second to none. Every single member of staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. A very special thank you to Bella, Dingaan , Walter, Catharine, and truly every single person we encountered during our stay. Each of them contributed to making our experience absolutely outstanding. What sets this hotel apart is not only the professionalism but also the genuine care and love that the team shows. The way they treated myself, my husband, and our daughter made our trip to Johannesburg so much more memorable and enjoyable. We would never consider staying anywhere else when visiting Johannesburg. African Pride by Marriott is not just a hotel — it’s a home away from home, filled with warmth, kindness, and excellence in every detail.

Shocking service at African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel! Nothing to be "Proud" of - Very Disappointed I recently stayed at African Pride Melrose Arch and was extremely disappointed. On arrival, the concierge offered no real assistance with my luggage, leaving me to handle it myself. At check-in, staff tried to “make up” for the poor welcome by offering early access to my room—something that should already be a Gold Elite Bonvoy benefit. Instead, I was sent to a small gym change room with no amenities or hairdryer to freshen up after a long flight. The shower area was left dirty with my used towels still on the floor hours later. The duty manager approached me in a very awkward way while I was opening my suitcase, making me feel uncomfortable. Parking was another nightmare, with no proper guidance, QR codes to scan, and a broken lift leaving me to navigate dark, dingy stairs. When I finally received my room (just before official check-in time), it was a basic, underwhelming room—certainly not what you’d expect from a so-called 5-star property. Service throughout was indifferent: no recognition of my loyalty status, no interest shown at checkout, and no follow-up from management. The only positive was a polite bellman at departure. Having stayed here before and been impressed, it’s sad to see how far this hotel has deteriorated. Definitely not the African Pride standard it once was!

A group of six of us recently stayed at the African Pride. From the moment we arrived the experience was wonderful. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to assist. They is always a friendly smile and a hello from all of them. The area around the hotel is wonderful: full of lovely restaurants, bars and shops. Best of all, it's super secure and safe. All the food in the hotel is wonderful and breakfast is one of the best set ups i have seen. If you are travelling through Johannesburg there is no better place to stay. We returned two weeks later and everything was again wonderful: the staff are simply sensational. We had dinner at the Sebule Restaurant and it is truly a fine dining experience. A sincere thanks to the management and all the staff for making both our stays so relaxing.

Staff interacts with the guests in a natural and friendly way that makes you feel at home. From the doormen to Front Desk to restaurant staff every person was outstanding. The two restaurants at the property offer great food and service. The Melrose Arch area around the hotel offers many great shops and restaurants in a safe environment to walk in. Big skies, long loops, and the feeling you’ve actually left the city. We did one of the shorter circular hikes and still got broad grassland views, antelope sightings, and that quiet you only get when the road noise drops away. Trails are well marked and the gradients are honest but manageable. Take plenty of water, a hat, and decent shoes—there’s limited shade on the ridges. Facilities at the gates are basic but fine. If you like the idea of a “proper” hike without a long drive, this is an easy yes.

Provincial government is not fulfilling their mandate: - Day trails are badly eroded. - Overnight trails are closed. - Eland overnight hut fire damaged. - Holhoek picnic site is closed. - Ouhout Group Camp is closed. - Tourist Route road tar is not maintained, roadside grass not cut creating dangerous bends especially for cyclists. - Paved paths are overgrown and not maintained. - Water feature not working. - Medicinal garden overgrown, signage missing. - Educational dioramas in main building closed and damaged by water leaks. - fence in terrible condition, game regularly gets out and causes accidents. - Western gate burnt down (were firebreaks in place?) - Protea Hotel and pool closed. - Kareekloof resort and pools closed. - firebreaks never completed on time resulting in unplanned fires. NEVERTHELESS the scenery is still magnificent and there are still some animals to be seen. Renovation of Kiepersol Chalets and toilets in parking area said to be almost complete.

We enjoyed a 11.5km hike which took us 3:30mins. The reserve opens a 7am with a Card only system. No cash is accepted. The pathways are marked out but they can cut some of the bush , although there is alot of clear views. We didnt see any animals along the path but did see some animal dung. The toilets were clean and the place is well kept. The museum is a nice walk for those who want to reminisce.

Food might as well have been prepared from the garbage. AC/Heating not really working in the rooms; it’s either an Arctic tundra or a sauna no in between. I would also inspect your sheets when you stay; I’m 99% sure they didn’t wash the ones in my room and just made the bed from the last guest. For the price I was hoping for far better; at this price range you might as well spend a bit extra and go to the four seasons and get true quality.

Great airport hotel, conveniently located within a 5 min walk. Staff in the hotel was very efficient and helpful. Special mention for reception desk - who enabled a very smooth check-in and gave us connecting rooms (many thanks for that), and accommodated our reservation change request due to flight re-bookings. One comment I will need to make is that we had requested for a meet and greet service as we had luggage and sometime moving across the different floors in the airport can get confusing and challenging with luggage. Despite a confirmation, there was no one at the meet and greet. Other than that one isolated incident, overall great hotel as well as restaurant.

AVOID THE SPA! I had booked a massage here and while the massage wasn't the best, the worst part was they took advantage of me. I had just had a long flight and was really tired so decided to get a massage while I waited for my next flight. At the end of the massage they offered me the rest of the massage oil to keep it as I mentioned I liked the smell and also gave me a shot of collagen. I thought wow that's really nice that they care so much. NOT! Turns out that when I went to pay they charged me for a full bottle of the oil (although I only got half a bottle as it was used during my treatment) and I also got charged for the collagen shot which I never asked for and they never told me that it costs extra. Was too tired to argue so just paid for it. I often fly via OR Tambo and I will never visit the spa or hotel ever again! You got several hundred rand more from me that day than I intended to spend... you will not get one more cent.

Had a long layover. Stayed at the hotel one night. Great service. Super convenient. Nice rooms. Easy food and drinks. One of the nicest “airport hotels” I’ve stayed in.
Jeff P — Google review
I agree with all the serpulatives of other reviewers. We've stayed here many times. (And tried other nearby accommodations, but we prefer the InterContinental.) Try the hotel's website for booking. We bought a room on Expedia but mistakenly chose an "accessible" room with no breakfast. At 9 pm, the nice person at the desk corrected that and found a room with a queen and a bathtub at no extra charge.
Peter R — Google review
If you ever need to stay at the airport in JNB, do not think twice. The Intercontinental is the best option and delivers everything that you might need. Restaurant 24hs, great service, good gym and spa, rooms are also great. On top of that the service is top notch. Usually I avoid the airport hotels, but this Intercontinental is great.

Sandton Sun is a luxurious hotel catering to business travelers seeking a prime city-center location. The property offers 326 rooms and suites, an in-house convention center, and direct access to Sandton Mall. Guests booking the top-tier rooms enjoy split-level accommodations with private Jacuzzis and alfresco dining spaces. The rooftop pool and spa provide relaxation, while the rooftop restaurant, Library Lounge, and bar offer high-quality dining options.
I liked my stay at the hotel very much. The city itself I was warned a thousand time that it isn't safe, but here everywhere is safe inside. The rooms were so cozy and their breakfast is amazing. Wifi connection is everywhere. Their crew lounge is amazing for small gatherings as well with variety of hot drinks, juice and marshmallow. The staff is very polite and friendly. They play good music in the reception, sometimes you'll find a pianist playing as well. Exchange service is available at the reception but the rate isn't high. Very recommended place for families and couples and business trips.

Nice hotel and very good location. Directly connected to the mall which is also a plus and lots of nice restaurants in the area. The breakfast included is very diverse and the hot options are very quickly prepared Point of improvement: they use bottle of water with the top you have to pull and almost always the top breaks and you can’t open the bottles. That was not very convenient

Cool design, great view, good prices and food, and friendly staff. The gym was one of the best hotel gyms I've used in a long time. Connected to the mall and easy to get to plenty of other restaurants

I had the pleasure of staying at Sandton Towers while attending the G20 Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, and my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I checked in, the service was warm, professional, and attentive. Special thanks to Ishmael, Onka, and Lebo, who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and memorable. Their friendliness and genuine care really stood out, and it made all the difference during a very busy week. I stayed on the club floor, which offered a premium experience throughout. The breakfast service was excellent—well-prepared, fresh, and served with such attention to detail. The staff in the dining area were unfailingly friendly and welcoming, setting a positive tone each morning. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and well-appointed, providing a perfect balance of comfort and functionality. After long days at the summit, it was wonderful to return to such a relaxing and quiet space. Overall, Sandton Towers exceeded my expectations in every way. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Johannesburg, whether for business or leisure. Thanks again to Ishmael, Onka, and Lebo for their outstanding service—you truly made my stay special!

Top Tier restaurant. Had a lovely host welcome us and she did her best to not keep us waiting too long. Our waiter, wish I remembered his name but he worked there 9 years and the level of experience he had was impeccable.

Great location but reception desk is a disaster. Struggled to use the phone in my room and had to use my cellphone to order food. Reported it ti reception. It was never fixed. No sense of urgency. Hotel itself is very nice but the service lacks professionalism.

Stayed from 12–13 August 2025 — absolutely amazing experience! The staff were friendly and professional, the rooms spotless and comfortable, the food delicious, and the service outstanding. Perfect location in Sandton. Highly recommend Sun Towers Hotel — I’ll definitely be back!

I felt like a celebrity in the movies. Everything is so luxurious and beautiful and done purposefully. From having people outside to greet and guide you on parking and where to go, to having a perfectly equipped shoe shiner. You walk in to friendly and accommodating staff and a bellhop to help carry your luggage and show you to your room. The art throughout the hotel is so interesting and no matter where you are, there is always something beautiful to look at. The flow of the room is so perfect that it almost makes you want to be in the room ALL the time. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and the blacking out curtains made sleeping so comfortable and an incredible experience. The buffet had such a variety, so be sure to go there with an appetite and experience heaven in your mouth. I have absolutely nothing bad to say, it was a wonderful experience and if I'm in that area again, I will absolutely stay here again, without a doubt. Thank you to the staff on every level for making this an incredible experience

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Sandton, the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel offers a contemporary escape for both business and leisure travelers. With its sleek accommodations ranging from double rooms to balcony suites boasting stunning city views, this hotel is designed for comfort and style. Guests can indulge in delightful dining experiences at the Central One restaurant or unwind with a drink at the chic bar overlooking the skyline.
My husband and I were in JHB on business and arrived at the Radisson hours before check in - when we arrived they were still fully booked and the very lovely Precious asked if we could wait a bit and as soon as the room was ready she would let us know. We were quite tired and decided to hang around, have a drink and sit at the pool. It was very comfy and the staff were amazing so we didn’t mind. I think we were probably there around an hour when Precious came to find us that our room was ready. She gave us a room on the 10th floor right by the gym which was amazing. Room was neat and so so relaxing. We had dinner at the restaurant on Sunday evening. My husbands meal was very very salty, and we sent it back. The waitress was so so sweet and they remade it and offered a free salad. We had a great stay and will definitely be back to Radisson Blu! Big shout out to Precious, Oratile and the very sweet restaurant staff! You guys are amazing and ultimately made our trip the relaxing and enjoyable time we needed!

She ensured my check-in process was smooth and efficient, answered all my questions with patience, and offered helpful recommendations about the hotel’s facilities and nearby attractions. Fiona’s warm smile and genuine hospitality made me feel truly valued as a guest. Her ability to handle requests promptly and her courteous attitude reflected a high standard of customer service. She is an excellent representative of the hotel and a true asset to the team. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone seeking exceptional service, thanks to Fiona’s outstanding reception experience.

After a 12-hour flight, I arrived much earlier than expected and planned only to leave my bag and return at 3 pm. To my surprise, I was warmly welcomed by Thandeka, who kindly offered to see if an early check-in was possible. Not only did she make it happen, but together with Precious, they also arranged an upgrade to the executive floor for my 7-night business stay. Their warm smiles, kindness, and genuine willingness to help truly made my travel experience so much easier and more enjoyable. Thank you, Thandeka and Precious, for your outstanding hospitality—I will definitely be back!

Location is the best part. Central to everything. Service is good, nothing exceptional. The kitchen staff especially the head chef is AMAZING. She's friendly, makes rounds, engages with guests and always a smile on her face. She creates a very inviting space and makes the experience better. Staff gets a bit complacent and service takes a toll. Overall a good hotel, I frequently visit due to work. Menu can have a bit more flexibility.

Business Hotel with a heart in Sandton The Radisson Blu Gautrain sits in the heart of Sandton's business district, with a genuine warmth that permeates every aspect. Rooms are equipped with free high-speed wireless internet, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and mirror casting, minibars, and thoughtful touches like in-room coffee provisions. Nelson Mandela Square is about 900 meters away – roughly a 13-minute walk – while Sandton City Shopping Centre sits at a similar distance DINE + DRINK: The Breakfast buffet was pretty decent. I had such a wonderful stay at this hotel during my vacation in Johannesburg. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and well taken care of — always friendly, professional, and ready to help with anything I needed. The room was clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained, with all the comforts I could ask for after a day of exploring the city. The location was perfect — close to key attractions, restaurants, and safe to walk around. I especially appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and the little touches that made it feel like a home away from home. Thank you for being such a big part of a memorable trip. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Johannesburg!

This was my first Raddison property and I must say the brand didn't disappoint. They almost did but I helped them get back on track. They gave me a room that was not what I was expecting when I booked. They fixed the problem a few hours later, I had to wait for cleaning. I just walked to the Mandela Square and they have many restaurants their, I ate at Cliantro and has some amazing oxtails until room was ready. The mall is also in walking distance. Gay pride was going on at the time so there were a plethora of food vendors in the area. Hotel starts on the 13th floor and goes up. It's a shared building I believe. Staff over all somewhat friendly. The executive lounge staff we're really nice and helpful. The breakfast is simple not much options but I'm not a huge breakfast person so. No alcohol cocktails just water, beer, juices and sodas. Overall I was satisfied. They acknowledged me and had cake in my room for the special occasion. The penthouse suite I had was breathtaking with views out of movies.

Great rooms. Loved the shower. Not a fan of the elevator system - you have to enter the floor number and then wait for an elevator to arrive, which does not have a fast "wait" time at all, so sometimes you have to call the elevator twice. Other than that, I have no complaints

The rooms, service and location are a solid 5 star! ⭐ my only issue was when the TV automatically came on at around 6/7AM in the morning and wouldn’t go off. My sleep was disrupted. But everything else was great!

Nthabi L — Google review
In theory, the hotel is decent. In the end, I spent my last hours here chasing after like a dozen people to track down laundry I gave early in the morning specifically for the 3 hour service and was even confirmed this by housekeeping, then hours later nothing, to find out as I am stressing with needing to head to the airport, they sent it away and weren’t sure when it would be back. Eventually I just made my flight and was close to leaving my clothes behind, but it was such a hassle to call and call and call and get angry to make somebody follow up on something so basic. This is a Radisson in a main business area, not some boutique mom and pop hotel! Beyond that, the layout is a bit weird with an entrance that seems like some back entrance, then having to go up to reception and then up to your room. The rooms are actually not bad, clean, functional, proper climate control and bedding. I did not like the shower just being an open 1/2 of the bathroom at all, so inevitably water sprays out to the rest of the bathroom. Location? Problem is they stress it’s not really too safe to walk around the hotel, which was what I planned to do, and then observed they nobody really walks around it. So I feel like it might have been easier to stay somewhere connected to one of the malls or in a more walking friendly area. Food? The restaurant is pretty big, I would rate the breakfast ok, for a big business hotel like this, I was surprised there weren’t any good pastries or particularly interesting hot dishes. It was quite basic. In the executive floor, there is a nice little lounge with a coffee maker and a few sweets. But after my experience with them, you couldn’t pay me to stay here again.

Our stay at the Sandton hotel was fantastic! The breakfast was delicious, offering a great variety to start the day right. The staff were genuinely heartwarming, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. This hotel boasts an excellent location, just a short five-minute walk from Nelson Mandela Square, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. The hotel itself, while comfortable, feels and appears dated, with rooms that are good but not exceptional. On a positive note, the breakfast restaurant is fantastic, offering a great start to the day. The bar is also a highlight, being very well-stocked. However, while the bar is a great spot, the prices are quite high and the service could definitely be improved to match the quality of its offerings.

My Stay at Garden Court Sandton City - Safe, Savvy, and Seriously Delicious Tucked right next to Nelson Mandela Square and Sandton City Mall, Garden Court Sandton City truly earns its stripes for location convenience. It’s hard to imagine a safer or more centrally situated spot in Johannesburg. Sandton, often referred to as “the richest square mile in Africa,” and well known for its polished, well-patrolled atmosphere—is the perfect home base for visitors who prefer “wandering with confidence” over “wandering with caution.” Check-in was a breeze (always a win), and waking up to a sprawling breakfast buffet made getting out of bed a thrill instead of a chore. Guests rave about the variety and flavor of the morning spread, everything from crisp pastries and fresh fruit to fluffy scrambled eggs and savory hot options. It felt like a full-on brunch, and not just the typical hotel wake me up. Rooms were clean and comfortable if not jazzy, standard fare that focuses on simplicity and functionality. And knowing you’re parked in a secure, underground garage with well-lit access adds peace of mind, especially in such a vibrant urban district. All in all, Garden Court Sandton City is a no-fuss, high-value choice in a location that feels both cosmopolitan and safe. Whether you're in Jo’burg for business, shopping, or just fabulous breakfasts, you’ll feel right at home here. Five stars for location and morning meals that fuel your adventures.

We arrived Sunday night after a 12 hour drive. The staff were very kind and helpful. However - the safe didn't work. William Nicol Highway collapsed and damaged all water pipes, so all of Sandton out of water. By 11pm water was sort of on, brown and slow. They have trucks delivering water. The drawers kept opening. The water in the bath was draining out. Monday morning I spoke to Hotel manager. Filled him in. He said it would be dealt with... like a hole in my head. Monday night everything was the same. Tuesday morning my hubby complained. Some things were sorted. But the drawers kept opening. (Like a spook in our room? Position is perfect, but so many road works and obviously getting the water sorted... (not the hotels issues).

I recently visited this venue for an Easter High Tea and an Easter hunt, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the ambience to the service and the food, everything was top-tier. The chef truly outdid himself, curating a spectacular buffet-style high tea with an array of delicious treats. The spread included a wonderful selection of savory bites—mini pies, open sandwiches, fresh rolls, samoosas, and spring rolls. And the sweet treats? Pure decadence! Think red velvet cake, rich chocolate cake, and heavenly crème brûlée. Every bite was a delight. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. 1. Amazing and professional employees from check in to waitresses to porters. 2. The food was great... though I asked for soft eggs twice and both times the eggs were hard. 3. Housekeeping should at least service your room before 17:00. It's really not nice coming back after a long day and instead of resting, you are met by a housekeeper, now you have to leave and give them time to finish, only for you to come back and bathroom amenities aren't all replenished. 4. I understand the proposal set up, but can my patio not be used as a storage for extra furniture, I wasn't able to use or enjoy the patio on Saturday and I was checking out the next morning.

Truly enjoyed our stay! The 2 BR apt was very comfortable for our group of 4. The beds were very comfortable and having a kitchen was very convenient. I enjoyed using the deep soaking tub and the shower was very pleasant! The staff accommodated our request for a roll out bed for our daughter which was helpful since she shared a room with her grandmother but they only have king rooms. The restaurant on site and bar area had a great variety of meals with very good desserts and wine selections. The hotel is also directly connected to the Sandton Mall which was very convenient when exploring new places to eat or spending the evenings shopping. I wish we had time to make spa appointments but we had an action packed itinerary. I would highly recommend the Davinci and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

I recently had a truly fantastic experience at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. From the moment I booked until the final check-out, the entire process was effortless and straightforward. It's rare to find such a seamless experience! The welcoming staff set a wonderful tone for the whole stay. My favorite aspect, by far, is the hotel's prime location. Being right in the center of everything is a huge convenience. Having the Menlyn mall shopping centre just 2 minutes away and all the other stores so close makes this the perfect base for shopping and exploring. The cleanliness was impeccable—a solid 10/10. My room was spotless and the entire hotel looked incredibly neat. The staff's efficiency truly stood out. When I called the reception to request more towels, they were delivered to my room in less than five minutes! This level of prompt and professional service echoes what others have said about the well-trained reception staff and their great customer service. This hotel is an excellent choice for both corporate and leisure travelers who prioritize convenience, exceptional service, and spotless accommodations. I will definitely be staying here again!

I was so excited for breakfast. I asked for a quick vegan fry up: some tomatoes and spinach sautéed in some olive oil. I got a salad with a vegitarian dressing(on the side) not vegan. A salad or breakfast?? So, not wanting to waste, I accept it and ask for some olive oil. Only to be presented with something which tastes like sunflower oil. Definitely not olive oil!! Never ever !!

Stayed overnight at the hotel. Rooms are super spacious and are designed for longer stays. Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working in my room which left me very cold, the hotel did provide extra blankets. Breakfast was very good with super attentive staff at the Khoi restaurant.
Mncedisi N — Google review
The rooms are nice with a clever design. During my stay I had good service. However, for the last year, I've been on the phone with the hotel and emailing back and forth. It seems to be impossible to get a hotel bill to expense to my company. I've also been apparently "overcharged" and then refunded too much, so I owed more money in the end, still all without any paperwork of these transactions for me to submit to my company. It's as if they are afraid of having a paper trail. If it wasn't for this headache, I would recommend that business travelers to stay here as it is clean and is near several restaurants and stores. However, with this ongoing issue, I caution business travelers.

This hotel is located in Sandton City and offers comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi, a lively Portuguese restaurant, and a lounge. It's also close to Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton City Mall, and Gautrain Sandton station.
Great location directly next to / adjoining Nelson Mandela Square / shopping mall, with trendy lobby decor and lounge area. Rooms are small yet comfortable and clean. Good buffet selection for breakfast. Friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommend.
Peta B — Google review
I was very disappointed with my stay at Onomo Hotel. Firstly, the breakfast was a let-down. We arrived at 9:00 (breakfast ends at 10:00), but most of the food was already finished and not replenished. For the price charged, this is unacceptable. Secondly, when we left for errands and returned later, we found that our rooms had not been cleaned. When we reported this to the staff, they were defensive and told us we should have placed a note on the door, yet no such note was provided in our rooms. The rooms themselves are extremely small for the rate we paid. They don’t even provide a closet, which makes it very inconvenient for guests staying more than a night. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location, being close to Mandela Square. Unfortunately, location alone cannot make up for poor service and inadequate facilities. I would not recommend this hotel.

Well firstly I thank the hotel for the amazing customer service during my stay and even a room upgrade. Though the room i stayed in was small but very cozy and lovely plus with a good view of the city heights. Location is perfect for a someone who came for both business and pleasure.. Again Customer service was amazing, all smiles; same breakfast menu for my entire 3day stay but it is also understandable and tastey… all you can eat buffet (i love food😃) No problems with housekeeping during my entire stay… i was honestly very comfortable and satisfied I was a bit bummed they didn’t have telephones to call the reception in the room but the timely response via the online communication made up for it I enjoyed my stay… i will definitely consider returning…

I had an enjoyable stay at Onomo Hotel Sandton. The staff were friendly, room clean and comfortable, food and service excellent and conveniently close to the convention centre and Nelson Mandela Square. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Lauren.

The hotel stay was very good. The staff are very polite and attentive. The rooms are cozy with a very comfortable bed to rest in. The breakfast is very complete and tasty. And all the areas are always tidy and clean. The stay was very positive.

Rooms are sparsely decorated but the location is just great. Only issue is that when the phone rings with the check-in desk, that becomes a priority and you can wait until the phone conversation is over. That can take a very long time.

Fantastic Location! The best thing about this hotel. Price was okay, and service/food was standard. The room was a bit disappointing and the A/C was broken and needs fixing, which impacted our comfort."
Diego G — Google review
I stayed at Onomo Hotel for a short trip and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is truly ideal—directly opposite Nelson Mandela Square, which is linked to Sandton City, and just a 5-minute walk (at most) to the Gautrain station. Perfect for anyone needing easy access to shopping, dining, and transport. The room was clean and a good size for a solo traveller, though it might feel a bit compact for two. The bed was very comfortable, with soft bedding and sturdy hangers provided. The bathroom stood out with excellent water pressure, hot water that kicked in quickly, and fresh, clean towels. Basic toiletries were also included, which was appreciated. For a short-term stay, the hotel offers solid value. There’s a small coffee/tea station, a hairdryer, and a small safe in the room. However, don’t expect luxury extras like a mini fridge, spa, or gym—none are available. No gowns or slippers either, but that’s understandable for this hotel category. Some drawbacks: The walls are thin, so you'll hear people in the hallways. The desk is okay for casual use, but not ideal for working long hours. Also, pillow preference is personal—mine were too soft, and no firmer alternatives were available. Check-in and check-out can be slow when the reception area is busy due to its small size. TV channels are limited but manageable if you're just winding down. Overall, a clean and comfortable hotel that’s best suited for short stays, especially if you prioritize location and basic comfort. Would consider staying again. Tea/Coffee Station Includes: x 2 Rooibos tea bags x 2 Ceylon tea bags x 2 instant coffee sachets x 2 white sugar & x 2 brown sugar sachets x 2 small milk portions x 2 cups x 2 teaspoons x 1 kettle Bathroom Amenities Include: x 1 small soap x 1 35ml shampoo x 1 35ml body lotion x 1 35ml shower gel x 1 box of tissues x 2 rolls of 2-ply toilet paper x 2 body towels x 1 hand towel x 1 bath math No washcloth so bring your own.

Nestled in the vibrant Rosebank area, Hyatt Regency Johannesburg is a luxurious haven that perfectly blends modern elegance with convenience. Guests can indulge in contemporary rooms boasting stunning city views, complete with king beds and stylish bathrooms featuring L'Occitane amenities. The hotel offers an array of facilities including a rejuvenating spa, a rooftop pool for relaxation, and diverse dining options to satisfy every palate.
The place is just great. You are guaranteed maximum comfort both in the rooms and workshop venues. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home. Although the breakfast is great you can enjoy it for the first 2 days and from there it becomes boring because of limited options. I am not a chef but I feel that they need to diversify the breakfast menu with local dishes.

The Hyatt is a very nice hotel. The rooms are very big and also the bathroom is very spacious. You have a great bar, you can sit outside and enjoy some good food and drinks. Staff is very friendly but also a little bit slow.... Never the less we spend a great time there.

Great stay. Breakfast is wonderful, I had to pay extra for it, but it was still good. The juices are fresh and the service was wonderful. The hotel can pick you up and drop you off from the airport. You will have a better price with the hotel. The room was lovely.

The lobby and reception are great, beautiful and modern. But the room that I stayed with my husband was very old, the air conditioning didn’t work well, was too hot, the bathroom was old as well. This situation surprised me a lot, once we know Hyatt Regency is a great hotel, expensive and should keep their rooms as modern as the their lobby’s and reception. The restaurant is very good as the breakfast that is amazing with so many types of bread, fruits, jams, yogurts, eggs and everything you want.

Good setting, ample parking. Christmas lunch was sub par. Food was hit or miss, some of it borderline 2 star quality. Plates were not collected, so we put them at the kitchen entrance. Ambient music and singer was a good touch. I assume that the Christmas spirit had something to do with the service and food, certainly not worthy of the hotels status.

Wonderful friendly service. Alpha (concierge) was very helpful and the girls working in the restaurant at breakfast time were attentive and quick. Room service also very fast. Excellent location attached to Rosebank mall and many restaurants. Nothing but good things to say about this hotel :)

Great location in Rosebank right attached to the mall, very polite and attentive staff for both the hotel and conference facilities. Breakfast was incredible with a wide array of fresh fruits, international and local meats, and eggs made to order. Room was very clean and bed quite comfortable. Only negative feedback is some areas of room and hotel, i.e bathroom fixtures could be better maintained to truly be a 5 star hotel.

I haven't started in Magaliesburg long, I had no idea about this place until we used the conference venue for a breakfast meeting. I was deeply impressed from the car park all the way through. Everything is incredibly well managed, the staff are beyond amazing, the food was fantastic. It's located right in Magaliesburg town and yet you end up in an African safari lodge vibe with gorgeous views and stunning gardens. It must be amazing to stay there as a tourist.
Caroline M — Google review
The Spa manager, Thabile, is obnoxiously rude. She made a degrading comment to me about my indecisiveness in select a treatment, meanwhile, I was trying to accommodate and respect my parents by allowing them to decide what they wanted. What I saw in the Spa manager is an deeply unhappy, and insecure person who bolsters her ego by demeaning others. She has no business serving people and even less business being a manager to staff members. The other staff were so kind and responsive, that her behavior was completely out of place.

An absolutely stunning place. The gardens are splendid, green and very well kempt. The service is amazing, especially the welcome at the main reception. Two thumbs way up for Prince... He is a friendly and really fantastic host, not to mention funny and really bubbly he alone deserves 10 stars! ***********. Will definitely be back

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lodge, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with modern decor and comfortable furnishings that make you feel right at home. The WiFi is excellent—fast and reliable no matter where you are on the property, which made staying connected a breeze. The staff were incredibly friendly and always eager to help with anything I needed. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced my stay. The food was another highlight. Every meal was delicious, offering excellent variety and quality at great prices. It was clear that a lot of thought and care went into the dining experience. Overall, this lodge is a gem—combining comfort, convenience, and exceptional service. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

My husband and I and our two kids booked at valley lodge and spa on the 31st of December 2024 for a crossover and it was such a disappointing experience, first they booked us a small room and asked them to change it for us as we have kids and we have been there before in 2018 and we know they have nicer and spacious rooms than the one they gave us. We waited for them to call us after the housekeeping was done cleaning and they never did, I had to walk to the to the reception to ask for the key as they were done cleaning long time ago. Secondly the rooms was not cleaned properly there were hairs on the wall, the towels were old and warn out and the toilet was not cleaned properly and the room was leaking from 🌧️ at night. Thirdly we went to the pool and asked for towels we waited for almost 3 hours and busy reminding them to bring them and they never did and they only brought them when were about to leave and their pool is not clean very dirty. Then dinner buffet doesn’t accommodate kids everything was spicy 🌶️ and too much black pepper and on the the 1st of January the buffet was awful whoever cooked the food was rubbish. The cake and the malva pudding was awful and not cooked properly the food was terrible like most people were not happy some couples even went out to buy food. On breakfast they charge when you order cappuccino or latte hai like they even charge you for a bottle of water 😏. The overall experience was horrible and we definitely won’t be coming back especially for the amount of money we paid. In 2023 we spent our crossover at mount at Mount Grace their service was top notch👌🏼👌🏼 and the crossover party was a very beautiful setup outside and the food was amazing as we ordered from menu and there were golf carts transporting us to our rooms and restaurant, when we booked at valley lodge we expected similar service but wow what a waste of money. Lastly we would like to thank Chef Sipho who helped us with preparing our baby’s food and did it very nicely prepared as others couldn’t and his energy and level of leadership is amazing🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏼. Overall it was just a horrible experience and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Excellence service from Vincent at the restaurant. He is friendly, warm and welcoming. The rooms were a little disappointing but overall a beautiful place.

The rooms have everything you need for your getaway weekend. We allocated a family unit close by the river. To be quite honest the furniture could use an upgrade. The decor is a more gives antique feel. If you into that sort of thing you would like it. In the morning, you are likely to meet the resident antelopes and zebra on your morning walks. You get to see those animals close up. No need for a game drive. They have multiply tennis courts, mountain bikes, Paintball target shooting and rowing as part of the outdoor activities. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They will make you feel like honoured guests. If you like to take pictures, this place is great for doing just that. It has some excellent themes and backgrounds for your memories.

The most horrible Father’s Day experience. We made a breakfast booking for 10:30. My gripes are as follows: 1. When booking online, we chose to sit inside but they allocated a table outside and said their online system automatically puts bookings outside. We had to fight this and their insistence on it and drove there not knowing if it was rectified. Although it was when we arrived, the inconvenience and debates were unnecessary. 2. The parking facilities are very limited amd tight. 3. Upon arrival, the staff was very unfriendly. The waitress who opened the door for us was non-chalant and we had to ask repeatedly where our table was. 4. A gentleman who seemed to be the/a manager was also non-chalant, not trying to be welcoming at all and just looked at us as we walked past. No greeting, no welcome, no happy Father’s Day, he just looked at us coldly as if we didn’t belong. 5. Our waiter took long and when he eventually arrived, he said they had closed for breakfast at 10:00. We told him that we had made a BREAKFAST booking for 10:30 and they had accepted. He simply shrugged his shoulders and didn’t even try to resolve the situation. Our continued attempts to reason with him yielded the same result. He didn’t even call a manager, check with the kitchen, you know…descent customer service. He simply resisted and shrugged his shoulders. We opted to leave and he still did nothing and let a table of 5 leave. All of them just don’t care at all. HORRIBLE services at Opikopi Restaurant. 6. We had to navigate their horribly tight and badly laid out parking lot just to leave the premises. We don’t recommend this restaurant AT ALL! THE WORST SERVICE WE’VE EXPERIENCED!!

The party venue at Opikopi Guest House in Pretoria were we celebrated by wife's 60th birthday was simply amazing. The venue is beautifully placed on a hill and presents an exquisite sun set view amoungst other pleasantries. Zander and Peter were fabulous hosts they took care of everyone through out the evening in the most professional manner possible. The menu and the food that was presented was way above average and at an extremely affordable cost. The seating inside the venue was superbly presented and both the venue and the outdoor boma and bar area were really well managed. Opikopi venue comes highly recommended, I will not hesitate to give this place a 10 out of 10 rating for service and location. On that note I would personally like to thank both Zander and Peter for their wonderful service you guys really made a difference through your professionalism and hardwork thank you one again🙏

Prague is a beautiful city and I will be returning with friends and definitely staying at Home Suites

We stayed here overnight after an international trip before heading back to Botswana, and as always, it was a pleasant experience. The location is great, the food is consistently good, and that’s exactly why I keep coming back whenever I need a reliable place to stay. On this visit, we did notice a couple of small things that could be improved. We waited for over half an hour to get an iron, as it seems to be shared among guests. With the limited number of rooms, having an iron in each room would really make a difference. Also, the curtain in our room didn’t fully close, which made us a little concerned about privacy at night when the lights were on. These are minor issues compared to the overall positive experience, and I’m confident the team will address them. Still one of my go-to places, and I’ll definitely return.

I was very underwhelmed by my room, the amenities, and the service. Overall, the place felt more reminiscent of a very nice hostel than a "5-star luxury hotel". Bar was unstaffed. Restaurant was really not great. The room was small. Some of the furniture and fixtures seemed very old. For instance, the bathroom mirrors needed to be replaced a while ago. As far as I could tell there was no spa or any of the things you'd expect from a 5-star hotel. At the end of my trip I needed to book another night in Johannesburg and made sure to book it somewhere else. However, if you want a cheapish stay in a nice central area, this is a good option, but don't expect too much..

This hotel is so beautiful. The decor is stunning. My husband and I stayed in a courtyard suite and it is worth the upgrade. The bed was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in (to where we want to ask the hotel where they buy their linens). The little details made the stay even better: there was a heater in the bathroom, fragrance in the lobby, and a fire pit by the pool. The staff is so attentive and helpful, they held our luggage there for 7 hours after we checked out. The location is great too. It was a 5 minute walk to the Rosebank Mall

I am completely disgusted with the service received from the Winston. I made a booking for only one night and I had asked the hotel if they could make the room special for my MD by allowing them to have lunch in the room. The hotel responded that they have room service. They did nothing to assist in making the room special and making an extra effort to make sure my MD is happy. I expect better from a five-star hotel. I asked the receptionist if I could speak to the Manager. She said he was in a meeting and that I should try and call later. I told her to give him my number and have him call me. Why do I need to chase a manager if I am paying for a service? I then told the receptionist if she is unable to assist me I want to cancel the booking and get a refund. She said that it is fine I should just send an email. I sent an email and she responded that there is a 100% cancellation charge. This is unacceptable. She should have told me this on the phone when I spoke about canceling. I would have not canceled and booked somewhere else had I known about the 100% cancellation fee. This deffinitly should have been communicated to me when I phoned to ask about the cancellation. I already booked another hotel for my MD that was willing to accommodate him for the same price. I was told that a manager would call me and I am still waiting for a call. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. They need to work on their communication skills.

I enjoyed my stay at this elegant boutique hotel located within walking distance of the Rosebank Mall. My room was quiet and comfortable and overlooked the swimming pool. I also enjoyed my dinner at the hotel restaurant I had the fish of the day. There was wifi available in my room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Jin P — Google review
The network reception is almost non-existent, and the WiFi is poor quality. It takes a very long time for the hot water to start pouring out of the taps. My key card was dysfunctional, and as a result I kept having to make multiple trips to the reception each time I needed to get into my room. It took close to 30 minutes for the staff to bring me an iron and ironing board. You'd expect a so called 5 star hotel to have enough amenities. There's barely enough parking space.

Absolutely stunning place to recuperate. My husband gifted me with a night here, by myself, after we had a baby. It was total relaxation. The massages, pedi, yoga, floatation pool... incredible. And the staff was fantastic. I had everything I needed to have the most luxurious, comfortable night ever.

In absolute awe of this fine establishment, the reiki and yoga therapists are so kind and caring, from Naomi to the housekeeping to Josephine are all exceptionally helpful and cater to your every whim and fancy, such beautiful souls who practice kindness, the food was excellent and gut friendly and I’m ever so grateful for Julia for the psychology treatments which aided in pulling me out of despair. Arrived stressed and frazzled and after 5 days feeling far more relaxed and hopeful, the rooms are so beautiful with fresh linen and superbly clean. A heavenly oasis with sauna, flotation therapy, beautiful gardens and so much more, I could go on and on as there are countless amazing things to be said about Oxford Healthcare Retreat. Highly recommend. The epitome of peace, kindness, luxury, and relaxation in the heart of Melrose.Thank you to all for lifting me through a difficult period of my life, eternally grateful 😊

What a perfect retreat in the middle of Johannesburg. I needed a space to be alone to think and write following a painful loss. The room was warm, plush and the huge fireplace a great comfort. I also spent some time in the wonderful floatation pool, and with the gorgeous view of treetops and sky. On Sat I enjoyed an exceptional facial with Bev But saving the best for last was the delicious food that felt like it was home cooked. Highly recommend this wonderful hidden in the treasure.

This was my 3rd solo retreat visit at Oxford Healthcare. It has become my go-to place when I need to rest, find peace and restoration. The expansive rooms, the superb service from the friendly staff, the flotation pool, the self-care activities, the beautiful gardens and the delicious and healthy, freshly prepared meals are what keep me going back. I appreciate the effort and lengths the staff go to make you feel at home, but at the same time make you feel like you're in a luxury hotel. It's absolutely wonderful. Thank you Naomi and Karen, your awesome chefs and the entire team for always welcoming me back with hearty warmth. I'll be coming back for sure!

I am so grateful and appreciative of the place that is Oxford Healthcare Retreat and the people who run the space. I had a short and sweet one night stay over and to say the least it was exceptional! The space is beautiful and comfortable, the staff are of the kindest and most helpful people, the food was hearty and healthy, and the facilities such as the floatation pool was superb, top quality! My time might have been short, but so well spent, I would most definitely recommend a day, evening or even weekend at Oxford! It’s worth your time and you are worth it, a place to really rest, destress and find comfort in the heart of our city.

I have had the most relaxing time at Oxford Healthcare Retreat. It's like being out of the city. It's tranquil, peaceful and revitalizing. Don't miss the Floatation pool, it is so relaxing and a great experiance. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the massage i received from Karen was by far the best massage i ever had. I enjoyed the beautiful garden with the big old trees.

From the start of the day you are welcomed by friendly staff and taken on a fantastic journey of relaxation and recovery. Not only are the treatments fantastic but the chefs are as well. Each meal we had was fantastic, especially breakfast. Thank you so much!
