Dim sum restaurant
Function room facility
New WK Restaurant in Luyang, Kota Kinabalu is renowned for its delectable handmade dim sum offerings, with over 60 varieties to choose from. The restaurant's specialties include perfectly bite-sized siew mai, sticky loh mai kai, and popular egg tarts that often sell out quickly. Additionally, the Cantonese fried snack woo kok, stuffed with mashed taro, meat, and vegetables is a must-try.
One of the famous dim sum restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. Food quality is always well maintained. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Not so crowded on Monday morning. Therefore we got a table on the ground floor once we arrived around 8.30am and the food was served quite fast.
Lulu31 — Google review
The place was packed around 7pm on a weekday, but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Service was prompt. Typical loud and slightly chaotic vibes of a Cantonese eatery. My favourite dish was the steamed prawns - fresh, plump, and juicy. The portions were bigger than we expected, and we couldn't finish the food. Seemed like a popular place with both locals and foreigners.
Nicole T — Google review
This is another restaurant that is reasonably good and worth trying.Yet not easy to find parking spots. The restaurant is always full and waiting line is long. The staff is so helpful to find us a table. We ordered quite a number of dishes. The Egg Salted & Lotus Pau were so delicious and tasty. The dumplings were so delicious and big worth the price. The yam was so delicious too. We love the beverages too. Lots of menu to choose.
Alye T — Google review
This is another restaurant that is reasonably good. Our group ordered quite a number of dishes. The venison was tasty and tender. The fish was also nice. The vegetable dish was great. The yam dish was also good and so was the tofu. The pork dish was interesting. We couldn't make out that it was pork.
Andrew Y — Google review
Dim sum tasted ok but could be better. Some dim sum are quite salty to my taste.
Evelyn — Google review
June 2025 We were so excited to be able to grab some DimSum Togo in KK before our departure. This restaurant was really busy when we arrived. Looks like a great place for DimSum for local. Our DimSum selections were delicious especially on our flight back to Kuching. We love to revisit and enjoy our meal dining in. Highly recommend.
Joshua D — Google review
The food was nice. Just that their service was kind of bad when preparing add-on dishes. We waited for more than 30 mins but the dished never arrive.
Taryn O — Google review
From the moment we walked in, the staff found us a table immediately even though the place was quite full. Menus were on the table & within less than a minute after we decided, they stack the steaming hot dimsums in front of us. The pork siu mai & har gow prawn fillings were fresh & succulent. We ordered another round.

Dim sum restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Foo Phing Dim Sum is a popular spot in KK known for its affordable and delicious dim sum, with prices ranging from RM4.00 to RM6.50 per basket. The restaurant tends to get crowded on weekends, but the wait is worth it for the tasty offerings. In addition to their renowned dim sum, they also serve flavorful and budget-friendly porridge that complements the overall dining experience.
Really nice place to try some dim sum. I tried the following: -Shao Mai - Steam Crab Claw - Stir Fry Lao Shu Fan with Shrimp -Sichuan Spicy Dumplings (my favorite) - Jasmine Tea Everything was really good and service was really quick (although some of the times were unavailable or over when I went).
Kunal B — Google review
If you like dim sum, you’d be crazy not to visit this restaurant. It’s a busy place .. most of the time, you’ll need to take a number and queue, unless you arrive very early. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the menu is extensive. Prices are reasonable. As for the dim sum .. it was absolutely terrific. My personal favorites: the Shao Mai King, Xia Jiao, Chicken Feet, and Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce. I simply can’t resist ordering them every time I visit. Of course, there are so many other tempting options on the menu .. I’ll definitely be coming back to try them all.
Lee M — Google review
Great variety of dim sum with fresh and flavorful options like crispy taro puff, siu mai, and lo ma gai. Service was efficient and food came out hot. Only letdown was the char siew bao, which was a bit soggy and lacked the fluffy texture expected
Kick F — Google review
One of the best place to eat dimsum, clean and has two choice of ambiance(outdoor dining non-air condition and air conditioned indoor). However service still has room for improvements and dimsum is slightly pricey, portions are okay. Overcrowded during weekends. Come and dine here on week days, easier to get parking.
Adel P — Google review
Dim sum restaurant in KK. Big restaurant and many table for you. They serve your variety of Dim sum and pricey. Food quality and test are okay but not clear supervisor difference than others. Atmosphere is the best, good decorations and clean. Just one is no parking, only road side parking.
Narongwut S — Google review
Very nice dim sum with a lot of varieties. Fillings are big, reasonable price
Dennis Y — Google review
The food is somewhat moderate, there's alot places in KK surely outdone this place. Not only that, the service here is terrible, majority of the staffs are unreactive and not friendly. To the extend, "rude". I hope they will take actions on this matter.
Austin C — Google review
The dim sum here is incredible. I am from Ipoh n I have to say the dim sum dishes rivals that of MingCourt. Highly recommended!

We love the food! We had prawns cooked in Kam Heong sauce, tofu and chicken cooked in claypot, and fried rice. Our baby likes watching the seafood in the aquarium, and she likes eating them when it is served on our table. When she gets restless, we go for a quick stroll along the waterfront then return to our table. Feels safe here - security guards patrol frequently. Guest / visitor parking is well lit and safe.

Chinese restaurant
Lok Tien Dim Sum is a popular non-halal Chinese restaurant known for its exquisite and wide variety of dim sum. The restaurant offers an airy and spacious dining area with both indoor air-conditioned and outdoor seating options. It opens early in the morning, but it gets crowded quickly, especially during peak hours and public holidays. The staff are helpful and provide fast service. The food is served fresh and hot upon order, with generous stuffing in the dim sum.
This dim sum restaurant serves delicious, freshly made dim sum with great variety and flavor. A perfect spot for a satisfying and tasty meal!
Joseph K — Google review
Enjoyed my dim sum brunch on the whole. Would recommend the dry oyster congee as a soothing start to your meal. Pros: Food was very tasty, service was fast and responsive each time I requested for hot water refill to my pot of tea. Servers can feel a tad over enthusiastic at times when they wanna push certain items on the menu, but it's okay to just hold your ground and say no. Cons: Price on the high side in general. Ingredients were relatively fresh on that day but ain't exactly premium. Also, there is a lot of MSG in each dish. Like A LOT. Main irritants are the flies bothering me throughout my meal as I was seated along the corridor. Then I saw that rotator on the table behind me when I stood up to make payment. 😏 Seriously, why didn't the staff bring one over to my table when I most needed it... Minus another one star for that lack of initiative.
Sharon — Google review
Popular and crowded. Staff was very friendly, patience and highly attentive to our needs. Great food, freshly cooked from the kitchen. Dim Sum also delicious but slightly warm. Clean and nice environment. Price is average and affordable which is great. Highly recommended and will come again. Parking space is very limited especially during peak hours.

This dim sum restaurant serves delicious, freshly made dim sum with great variety and flavor. A perfect spot for having local dim sum 🥟
Cassey M — Google review
Use to be my favourite place for dimsum but not anymore. 1. The ori siao mai feels like those fish ball, can’t feel the meats. 2. Found something hard inside Tomyam mai for the tapao portion. The others hakao, fried shrimp , chi mai is okay…
Melvinthien — Google review
I have been a fan of their dim sum since they first opened. However, my last two visits were a letdown, the dim sum was soft and cold and the prawn filling wasn’t fresh. Recently I heard that their standards have improved, so I decided to give it another try and surprisingly, they really have.
Nick — Google review
Saturday morning around 10 a.m. fewer people were waiting. Usually, it’s always packed and you have to take a number from the person in charge and wait for your turn to be called. All the dim sum was delicious! The cheung fun was especially good 👌🏻 and the kopi ping kaw kaw 👍🏻 The downside is that it’s hard to find parking in this area — it’s always full. Well, that’s probably because this place is more affordable than other dim sum places. The environment is clean, the service is top-notch 👍🏻, and the atmosphere is really nice.
Mayth — Google review
This place is a very popular place. All tables are fully occupied. Customers have to wait for their turn to get a table. Two times already we came here. Last February and today the same atmosphere crowdy.

The staff is known for their polite and attentive service, ensuring that tables are well-organized for an enjoyable dining experience.
All dimsum ara delicious and above expectation especially the Pai Kut. Service fast. No table booking and have to Q to dine in. Waiting time about 15min (arrive at 12pm, during festive holiday). If you are in a small group, you may share table with other customer. Atmosphere comfortable.

Local people said the dim sum wasnice. After try.. Ya, the portions was big but taste not really certified. This restaurant need to share table with people , it will interrupted customers dim sum mood. Compare to others dim sum in KK. Only so so...

1. *Steamed Buns (Char Siu Bao)* – The fluffy white buns filled with BBQ pork. 2. *Shumai (Siu Mai)* – Steamed dumplings with a filling of pork and shrimp 3. *Spring Rolls* – Fried rolls filled with savory filling, often with vegetables or meat. 4. *Congee* – A savory rice porridge, typically served with toppings like green onions and meat (often pork )
Shui K — Google review
Would have rated better had the service was there. We waited for a long time for our food, and those who came after us were enjoying their meals whilst we languishing for ours. There were hardly and service or interaction from the staffs. The decor and setup was pleasant and gave atmospheric ambience. Prices were slightly higher but the Cantonese style was a great change to our palette after those fantastic Malaysian food we had. Attached photos were for the "large" size ordered
Chris C — Google review
The deep-fried whole pork trotter left much to be desired - it was hard, chewy, and disappointingly dry, with the skin lacking that crispiness. On the brighter side, the eggplant and long beans with minced meat were a delight, offering a burst of delicious flavors. The prawns in special dark soy sauce were decent, nothing special. Similarly, the yam ring with mixed vegetables and chicken and the crispy deep-fried chicken were average in taste. One major drawback was the bustling and noisy atmosphere, and unfortunately, the service was slow and rather disappointing.
Lee M — Google review
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant—perfect for both a special occasion or a casual night out. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients tasted fresh, and it was clear that a lot of care went into the preparation.

1. Taste: 3/5 2. Presentation: 4/5 3. Portion size: 4/5 4 Temperature: 4/5 5. Service: 3/5 6. Value for money: 3/5 7. Overall: 4/5 Dim sum on average comes to rm9 n above which can be considered high but find me a dim sum where its any cheaper. So it basically boils down to who cooks the better dim sum n dis plc falls short. Chicken feet was below average for me n the deep fried yam roll was the worst being over cooked with burnt taste n very little to no yam at all but other than that all the other dishes that we had was ok. Fully ac, no issue with parking n environment friendly enuf but I didn’t like the plastic that thy put on the table. Dim sum wise an acceptable place but will not b my first choice n therefore will not eat dim sum here again.

This charming restaurant specializes in Hong Kong-style Dim Sum, which has garnered rave reviews from past patrons who can't get enough of its delicious offerings at wallet-friendly prices. The menu is visually appealing, featuring plenty of pictures that make it easy for newcomers to navigate their choices. Great Chinese dim sum and other Chinese cruisine available here. Suitable for family time, breakfast with elders. Reasonable price with great quality food. Clean and comfortable place.
Xavier S — Google review
The menu has lots of pictures to clearly illustrate each food item which makes ordering a breeze even for a 1st timer. The service is quick, as you say down there will be several workers bringing food to the table, asking what tea you would like. There are also various condiments available on the table such as tomato sauce(ketchup),chili sauce, pineapple chili sauce, Chinese mustard and soy sauce. They later will bring in freshly chopped/minced garlic, chili sauce with calamansi, and chopped bird's eye chili. We did have to wait more than 10+ minutes after ordering before food arrived. This is actually a great thing, because all dim sum here are freshly streamed to order. We ordered Jasmine tea for our table it was just alright, there was no Jasmine flavor at all. The staff does a good job clearing empty dishes. Overall, not bad at all but the food didn't really stand out. Portion is either towards the small side or just about average. The restaurant is very easy to find, it is located right beside Mr. DIY plus.

Located in a bustling area on Lintas, 点心之家 Dim Sum Recipe is a popular spot for dim sum. The small space gets crowded, especially on weekends, so it's best to visit early in the morning to beat the rush. Parking can be chaotic, and seating is limited. While the variety of dim sum may not be extensive, their chicken feet dim sum is a favorite among patrons.
Often dapao here, sometimes will dine in breakfast here. Dim sum portion is big enough, taste very delicious. Besides all sorts of variety of dim sum, They have other choice like kon lo mee. Price is standard, almost similar other dim sum shop. Affordable.

Nice konlou mee here. Had it with pork chop which is properly fried and good ratio. And served with clear soup with wonton! Dim sum were mid which is weird because of the shop name.
Nelson L — Google review
A good place for dim sum The shop is located on the busiest strip of road on Lintas. Parking is an abysmally chaotic and stressful problem. The most common time to patronise the shop is during the weekends so if you plan on beating the crowd, it’s best to come in the early mornings some time between 7 to 8am is best. Tables are extremely limited and they share an alleyway with another coffee shop next door which makes the whole area even more packed with people. The shop is hitherto not as well known to tourists as the New WK is which makes a good alternative to avoid tourist crowded shops is Kota Kinabalu. Service is nothing to write home about and as this is a typical coffee shop, one should not expect 5 star services from the staff. Although much of the staff are hired help, seeing as the restaurant is family owned so some of the servers are family members so it wise to be respectful. Service could get really slow during peak hours so you will need to be patient and so far from my numerous visits, they have yet to make severe mistakes while serving customers. The food is more traditional versus what you would find in more famous restaurants. I highly recommend trying the scallop dumplings 带子卖 & 带子饺, the scallops are big and juicy enough to be worth the money. I personally also like the bean skin prawn 腐皮虾卷 & beancurd skin with sauce 豉汁鲜竹卷. The Cheong Funs are not really that good so unless you are a devoted fan of them, you’re not missing out anything. Besides dim sum, they do sell noodles and rice as well. Prices are a little steep, as with other dim sum shops in Sabah, and is rising by the years. Price - $$ and increasing Service - Fair Food - Good Location - Good but difficult Will I come back - Yes Would I recommend - Yes
Alex H — Google review
Food takes forever to be fully served. Food served half and waited for another 30 mins for the char siew chee cheong fun, 2 har gao and beef ball that never come until we decided to leave. Asked 2 staffs on this all never get back. When asked lady boss, she said chee cheong fun all take turn to make so have to wait. Super damn not friendly and never even take some effort to look at our order or ask the kitchen. After some time she brought out some chee cheong fun and served next table who came much later than us. When asked the boss, claims because they ordered plain? What nonsense reason given. Will not come again next time.

I like the taste of dimsum here, better than those overpriced dimsum restaurants that used expensive ingredients but taste so-so. But this restaurant normally crowded.

This is the Original and how actual Bak Kut Teh supposed to be, not the claypot style. Their pork isn’t frozen kind, which has that base and better pork taste than a frozen meat. Tastes meet its minimum requirements, not bland, a slight thin and satisfy herbal taste. Pork Ribs (排骨) & Trotters (猪蹄) is very good, Chinese Fried Dough (油条) and Tofu Skin (豆腐皮) is also a must to order to pair in their Bak Kut Teh Soup. Free refill on the soup too!

We visited this popular bak kut teh restaurant in Kota Kinabalu based on numerous recommendations. Upon arrival, we noticed it was quite crowded, and initially, we weren’t sure if we needed to queue. After asking a staff member, we were told to find any available table ourselves. It was a bit confusing because, unlike other restaurants, there was no clear queuing system. Customers who arrived later could take available seats immediately. After finding a table, a staff member quickly brought us tea, cups, spoons, and chopsticks without any explanation. Assuming the tea was complimentary, we poured ourselves a drink. Later, we realized that the tea was likely charged, though this wasn’t communicated to us beforehand. We placed our order around 7.35pm and were disappointed to learn that several items, like 3 layer meat, yu cha kueh, and pork ribs, were sold out. We ended up ordering two portions of lean pork (RM10.50 each), one portion of pig stomach (RM11), and a bowl of rice (RM1). The total bill came to RM35. However, when we reviewed the prices, it seemed like the total should have been RM33. We suspect the additional RM2 was for the tea, though this wasn’t explicitly stated or listed on the menu. The food itself was decent—the two bowls of extra-small bak kut teh soup was hot and flavorful. However, we were very disappointed that the lean pork and pig stomach were served cold, which significantly impacted our dining experience. For dishes priced at RM10.50 and RM11 per portion, we expected them to at least be served warm. In terms of service, the staff seemed very busy, which is understandable given the crowd. However, the overall environment felt a bit unkempt, perhaps due to the high volume of customers. I want to emphasize that it’s not about the extra RM2 for tea—I understand small charges add up. But for a restaurant serving so many customers, this kind of unclear charge could easily accumulate. Transparency in pricing would go a long way in creating trust with customers. If tea is not complimentary, it would be better to inform customers when serving it or display this clearly on the menu. Given this experience, I would think twice before visiting again. It’s unfortunate because I came with high expectations based on the recommendations but left feeling disappointed. I hope the restaurant considers improving its food quality (ensuring hot dishes are served) and being more transparent about additional charges to enhance the overall dining experience.

Super popular Bak Kut Teh smack in kk Gaya st center. Filled with mostly Chinese tourists every night. Overall food quality is good. Coconut pudding is nice. Only thing to upgrade is the crowd management. It has no queue system for such a crowdy place. You have to eat with the incessant cutlery cluttering noise and moist humid environment if weather is hot. Hygiene is secondary here because of the fast turnover. Otherwise service is fast and workers are accommodating even though they are flat out busy. Price is reasonable. It has no dry bak kut teh version however .

Ever lasting bak kut teh place in kk that's one of the punch card place for tourists. Soup is ok but everything is served at room temperature in tiny bowls so it's a hassle to always need to ask for hot soup refill. There are definitely better bak kut teh places to punch card in kk.

The herbal soup is quite different from Klang or Singapore version. Have some herbal taste though. The place is very popular but kind of messy & noisy. The waiters attitude got style.

The bak kut teh with pork belly and ribs is very good. The bak kut teh is served in bowls instead of clay pots, so i have to eat it quickly. I’m delighted that they offer extra bak kut teh soup. An adult man can eat two bak kut teh bowls.Compared to other bak kut teh restaurant, the soup has a milder flavor and is easy to eat. I liked this restaurant so much that I visited here twice while my stay.

The best bak kut teh in town. The meat quality is very good. Been patronising them more than 20 years now. A bit warm and stuffy inside the shop .
Ken F — Google review
It was quite an interesting experience to see the food served separately, unlike the typical Penang style where everything is mixed together in a single pot. Each dish had its own space on the plate, allowing the flavors to stand out individually, creating a unique dining experience. This approach, though different, brought a refreshing twist to the familiar and left me appreciating the nuances of each ingredient more deeply.

Meat dish restaurant
Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh Restaurant, located in Gaya Street, is a renowned spot for lovers of Bah Kut Teh. The broth is infused with Chinese herbs and spices, creating a unique and rich flavor. The menu offers tender pork stews, lean meat, pork ribs, and pork balls that pair perfectly with the aromatic broth. Additionally, the restaurant serves delicious sides like pickled veggies and enoki mushrooms to complement the main dish.
If you're in Kota Kinabalu and craving a heartwarming, herbal-rich broth, Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh is a must-visit. Known for their flavorful and aromatic bowls of Bah Kut Teh, this spot delivers a truly satisfying experience. We tried their best-selling Claypot Bah Kut Teh, and it did not disappoint. The broth was packed with deep, herbal flavors—rich yet not overpowering. The pork was tender, absorbing the essence of the slow-cooked broth, while the mushrooms and tofu soaked up every bit of that comforting umami goodness. For a more intense, savory bite, the Dry Bah Kut Teh was an absolute delight. Stir-fried with dark soy sauce, dried chilies, and a mix of spices, the pork had a bold, caramelized flavor with a slightly smoky touch. It was perfect with a bowl of white rice, letting the sauce cling to every bite. To balance out the richness, we ordered a side of Choy Sum, which was fresh and lightly seasoned, adding a refreshing contrast to the meal. With generous portions, a well-balanced blend of herbs and spices, and a cozy, no-frills ambiance, Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic and comforting Malaysian dining experience. Definitely a place worth revisiting!

Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh Restaurant was recommended by a colleague as a well-known local spot, especially popular with those who enjoy soup — whether when feeling under the weather or after a night out. Two of my colleagues really enjoyed their meal, but sadly, it just wasn’t to my taste. I wish I could say the same, but this is my personal review.

We went to that restaurant a few times, cause it was so good everytime. We loved the food, especially the Dry Bak Kut Teh & also the Coconut Pudding. Oh and the Teh C Special is my favourite there! The staff was so nice. They were all really friendly & we felt very welcome there. The restaurant is very busy & it seems like a lot of people like to go there. Even though the employees were in a hurry they showed us how to prepare the sauce or what kind of drink we could choose. And we got our dishes very quickly everytime. Thanks again!

Tourist-Friendly. Visited Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh and found the service to be good, with staff remaining friendly and welcoming despite the large number of tourists. Their attentiveness and hospitality stood out. However, the food was just okay – not particularly memorable. If you're planning a visit, it's best to manage expectations. The experience is pleasant, but not exceptional.

They have expanded to aircon right opposite the old opened air. KK version is herbal unlike Singapore which I'm used to. But without much choices, I think this is the best place to go to. Just need time to get used to herbal type is you are used to Pepper type like in Singapore. I like the dry clay pot but I'll still prefer soup to go along with rice.

I am having late dinner here. The taste and the texture of fried dough sticks were so geli. Thick chewy and soggy dough with rancid taste. I feedbacked to the guy at front counter. He said they fried these in the afternoon and not recommended to eat during dinner. Then?! why just now your suggest it me to when taking my order?! Seems like you intended to clear your balance stock since noon time. Not recommended

Food here is okay and interesting for a local bah kut teh. Not something that i ate before. The bah kut teh is more to herb side. the bah kut teh is mix with different part of the pork. As for the dry bah kut teh is same ingredients and it tasted like gong bao sauce. Overall i enjoyed the dry one my wife enjoyed the soup. Card payment accept over here as well. Can give it a try if u want to taste a local food. came around 1930 and the crowd was ok.

Fong Ip Cafe, located on Gaya Street, is a popular spot known for its authentic laksa and delicious, simple dishes. Despite being pricier than other options, the quality of ingredients like shrimp, crab legs, and fish meat in their laksa keeps diners coming back for more.

It's a corner shop, located strategically as tourists' hub. When it first opened around 2010, it got all the attention for its concept, buffet style with Chinese cooking dishes from Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and other side dishes, suits for everyone Today they've evolved, they have various noodle soup, they even serve Durian ice cream, and when it is Durian season, this place is at peak especially among China tourist. The waitresses own the place. It can be a bit out of hand most of the time yet it is best place for breakfast

The cafe of breakfast I took at which the traditional way of serving. This breakfast was just nice for me, not oily and with one well cooked egg and the other half cooked. A lot of adventurers, diver and tourists hanging out here before their trip early morning. It’s very convenient to reach many hostel/ hotel in the KK City. I think this is a good place to have a short break and to grab some food on the go.

Ordered one chicken rice, two mixed rice, two iced Milo and one iced coffee. All cost RM28.70. Kinda expensive since the chicken rice alone costs RM10. And there was no soup for the mixed rice. Even though soup for every dish is synonymous to Sabah (or not anymore?) From ordering food to drinks, all are self-service. I'm guessing they also serve no pork, since I saw a few Muslim patrons.

Kuo Man is a popular Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that often sells out of its ingredients by lunchtime. This cycling trip visited the restaurant and found it to be delicious with good noodles and crispy roast pork. Despite recent media criticism, Kuo Man seems to be doing well with customers.
Incredible beef noodles! We were brought here by our local friends and this is a favorite among locals. The signature dish is amazing with a number of different beef parts in a light broth with lettuce and then you've got some accompanying noodles that have been tossed in soy. Noodles were very Al Dente and the chili sauce is top-notch! Then we also ordered a plate of the roast pork. The skin was so light and crispy and the under part seemed more smoked like a bacon or a ham as opposed to the traditional five spice powder and salt absolutely incredible! Came again the next day! Except this time for breakfast this time trying the fish noodles.

Every time I go to KK, I will eat here. And I go early to make sure I get to eat the best Yong Tau Foo in town. Sells out fast. Kuo Man has been around for yonks. I started dining here 36 years ago but no longer live in KK. The Lady Boss is older now with the next generation manning the counter. Give a thumbs up, if this post resonates with you. 🙏

Unexpected surprise. Was staying in the hotel across the street. Went out for dinner and I stumbled upon this little shop. It wasn't anything fancy or big crowd that attracted me, i was just feeling like having some noodle soup. When the dish came I was surprise by the generous portion of fish slices, fishball and prawns. It tasted great too !!

Famous for their fish ball fish paste and fish eggs but didnt have it today. Tried the beef stew, it is nice. Noodles are a tad bit soggy for me. But will be back again to try the fish stuff!
Lyndia L — Google review
Food: salty broth and noodles, few lauk to match with the noodles. Noodles texture itself is pretty good. It is not "bad" but there are so many fish noodle competitions out there and the only unique thing they offer here is the "abalone" slices. Many items out of stock at 12:30pm Service: staff/boss who is taking order is impatient. The service staff is better and was regulated enough to be there to apologise for the forgotten orders. We had to remind them our drinks order and side order, because they really forgot and didnt bother to check.

It was fate that led me to discover this restaurant. When I was taking a grab cab to the hotel, the driver told me this place is famous for its fish balls and beef offal noodles, since just right opposite the hotel, me & my husband decided give it a try. I ordered the pork offal noodles with added the yellow rice wine, it was the first time I'd had such a rich & flavourful yellow rice wine broth. They were so generous with the rice wine, even more than I’d use when cooking at home, so delicious! I’m already starting to miss it now that I’m back in KL. For yellow rice wine lovers definitely need to try this! My husband ordered the beef offal, which he really enjoyed. The meat was tender, though the soup was a bit milder compared to what we’re used to. The weather was so hot, I thought of ordering a chrysanthemum tea to cool down. But when the drink served , we were stunned and surprised 😂, almost half cup of chrysanthemum and gave us a ”sieve” too! That’s unique!!! I was heard Ham jian bian is good too but personally I found it nothing special. As for the noodles, we found them nothing too special. However, the portions of the foods were large, easily enough for two people to share. They have many more choices of foods, definitely worth a try!

The earliest place available to have breakfast in Tg Aru town! The place is run by a family. If you want a variation of choices to choose from, then you should give it a try! The most unique thing about this kopitiam is that it is (in my knowledge) the last Chinese kopitiam with a Malay Halal stall selling soto, rojak and other food! This is a truly family kopitiam where you can get almost everything and anything under one roof! Service is tiptop, too! I've been coming here since I was young!

Shangri-La Tanjung Aru is a luxurious resort in Kota Kinabalu, offering refined rooms and suites with some featuring stunning sea views. The resort boasts a chic spa, three restaurants, and an impressive 2,000 square meter pool. Situated just a 10-minute drive from the Sabah State Museum & Heritage Village, the venue offers free on-site parking and high-speed internet access in the rooms.
Our stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru was truly exceptional. We stayed for 10 nights. Service throughout the hotel was outstanding – always quick, responsive, and attentive. Even after a minor incident, staff immediately checked in to ensure everything was fine, and requests via the app were handled seamlessly within 5–15 minutes. A special mention goes to Norman at the Horizon Lounge, who went above and beyond for us. Even with two lively toddlers we always felt welcome and well looked after. The lounge itself was extremely comfortable – the perfect place to enjoy breakfast away from the crowd – and we were even able to use a private room for a quiet conference call. The rooms are a little dated, but with some modernization this place would be absolutely perfect. Overall, truly excellent hospitality that made our stay unforgettable.

From the moment we arrived, our stay at the Shangri-La was exceptional. We were incredibly touched to receive a honeymoon upgrade right upon check-in... what a thoughtful gesture! Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated for the occasion. We were also treated to a delicious complimentary cake and a fruit basket, making the welcome even sweeter. For a unique experience, I highly recommend the Wednesday evening buffet with the cultural show. It was a paid activity but completely worth it and a fantastic way to immerse ourselves in the Kota Kinabalu atmosphere on our first night. The hotel grounds are stunning, offering some of the most sublime sunsets you will ever see. The breakfast spread is excellent and comprehensive, truly worthy of a 5-star hotel, and the service during breakfast was impeccable. Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly situated ; everything is just a 10-minute taxi ride away. Life at the resort is well-organized, with the pool area and a variety of activities keeping both children and adults entertained. If you are looking for a luxurious, serene hotel with genuine quality service, both in terms of staff professionalism and logistics, I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. It was a truly memorable experience.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a fantastic time. The hotel was well equipped, the pol area was lovely neat and tidy, good size pools with slides as well. The food was excellent and we had a club room which gave you a little extra benefit of a special room for. Breakfast and evening snacks and drinks. We loved our stay here and definitely would go back. The staff were also some of the most friendliest and helpful we have ever had at a hotel, a real credit to the Hotel.

My wife and I had our honeymoon and babymoon at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru resort in September 2025 and it was perfect. We were picked up from the airport by the resort and our room was upgraded upon arrival with an evening checkout on our last day as our flight was late in the night. The resort is an amazing location to watch the beautiful sunset and only a short grab ride away from the shopping malls and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was great with plenty of cuisines on offer. All staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. We must also personally thank the front office manager Christina Ting who was super helpful with providing restaurant recommendations for our honeymoon dinner and even helped us organise a gender reveal cake for our baby - Thanks Christina for making our trip that much more special for us!

Very nice place to relax and chill. Location is awesome except for a small traffic jam on weekend, sunset. The service from the staff were amazing but 1 star less because the venue needs some upgrading. A little dated. Also the lounge needs to improve on the food served. A little disappointed there. Family-Friendly with Room for Improvement. A great spot for a family vacation – the staff were consistently attentive, helpful, and full of smiles, which made the stay warm and welcoming. The resort offers a relaxing atmosphere and plenty of activities for all ages. However, the facilities are showing signs of wear and tear. Some areas clearly need maintenance, and the room wallpaper was peeling, which detracted from the overall luxury feel. While the experience was okay overall, it could have been much better with improved upkeep. Still, the hospitality and family-friendly vibe make it worth considering.

Marriott is top notched!!! I would come back again... so let's first begin with the big and spacious Executive Premier Seaview Corner King Room.. with excellent sea & sky views 10/10!! Breakfast was more than EXCELLENT!!! alot of variety and of good selections.. my parents loved it even the club lounge food was yummy too! not the boring club lounge snacks ;) Additional points, sunset rooftop bar- didn't took photo coz it was drizzling.. and the infinity pool... Kota Kinabalu Marriott Hotel is a great place to catch the sunset, whether you're working out in the gym, relaxing by the pool, or enjoying a drink at the rooftop bar, the view is simply stunning. The room design is sleek and modern, with a clean, open-style bathroom that’s thoughtfully laid out. However, the water pressure in the shower was quite low, and it took a long time for the hot water to come through. Hopefully, this isn’t the case in all rooms and will be addressed soon. Overall, the hotel offers a beautiful setting, with just a few small improvements needed to make the stay truly perfect.

Booked the room through Agoda and was assigned Room 352, which is located very close to the lift. Unfortunately, the noise isolation was quite poor — I could clearly hear traffic sounds from inside the room. Had breakfast at Kitchen@8, where each guest was required to manually fill out and sign the bill, even though the system already indicated that my breakfast was prepaid via Agoda. Surprisingly, one of the dishes served — a curry — appeared to be overnight and spoiled, which was quite disappointing.

My wife and I chose to stay at the KK Marriott Hotel recently for 4 nights, because it was the venue of our friend's son's wedding dinner, and we HAD high expectations about our stay. So what did we like about this hotel? Apart from its location along KK's waterfront with a beautiful sunset view and it's near enough to shopping, we liked its friendly staff, its Kitchen @8 restaurant, its 25m infinity pool, its spacious room and most of its in-room amenities. What we didn't like about this hotel were: its super-thin bed pillows (we were told there's no hard pillow alternative and we needed 3-4 pillows each, in the end); its initially poor room air-conditioning (we had to asked for it to be looked into and were told it had to be serviced on our check-in day); its super hard to operate in-room safe (we were actually instructed by its maintenance staff to used a hard pointy object to press the otherwise insensitive in-room safe panel buttons, which we're sure the said buttons would spoil in no time); its location being in the 5am-12mn descending flight path to KK Airport nearby (although we understand that this can't be helped for any hotel along KK's waterfront, but maybe the room's windows could be better soundproofed), but MOST ANNOYING of all, the room's so-called smart TV in the room that's glitchy with quite a few channels and wifi being unavailable (ergo, rendering the smart TV to be "smart-less"; despite my asking its front desk to look into it). All in all, my wife and I sadly feel indifferent about our stay at this hotel.

Went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had emailed ahead to request a simple room deco, and they agreed to do towel art on the bed. But sadly, nothing was prepared when we arrived, which was disappointing. Still, the food was really good as always, and the restaurant staff were super kind, especially to my kids. Despite the small letdown, this is still my first choice hotel whenever I visit Kota Kinabalu. Next time, please take note of guest requests. Thank you!

Room? Absolutely amazing. Clean, spacious, and that sea view? Unreal. Breakfast, though? A big meh. Pretty underwhelming, especially for a hotel this level. Honestly, only the view has fed me that day. 3 because of the food. What threw me off: I booked the government rate via Marriott Bonvoy app, for a double room. Thought breakfast would be included for both of us, but turns out, my husband had to pay separately. Not a dealbreaker, but not expected either. Dinner at Big Fish? Saved the day. Delicious, elegant, and worth every cent. Would I return? Yes , but mostly for the room and that glorious, calming view. If they upgraded the breakfast, it’d near perfect!

Dim sum restaurant
Restaurant
Step into the world of traditional Chinese cuisine at Phoenix Star Cafe, a renowned establishment with over 16 years of experience. Indulge in their delectable dim sum, Sao Mai, and savor the authentic flavors that have made them a favorite spot for breakfast and lunch. From delightful pork dishes to flavorful fried rice, every bite is a testament to their commitment to quality.
Nice restaurant with air-conditioning. The menu is quite extensive and there is something for everyone. Food did not take too long to be served. We have been here several times, more frequently in the past when we stayed nearby. Today we ordered the Chasau Saunyuk Kon Lau Mee and Sweet Sour Pork Rice. Both were good. The self-service condiments include pickled green chili which goes perfectly well with the noodles. Pickled green chili is often not available even in other shops selling noodles, so we appreciate having it here. Highly recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

Food. 1. Fried Slice Fish Tom Yam Soup - 7/10. As a tom yam lover, this one not really quite reach my expectation. The soup look a bit cair and have around 4-5 slice of fried fish. The taste is quite good and the soup is not spicy enough. 2. Cha Siu Bao - 8/10. Got 2 Bao which full of Cha Siu. Would recommend you guys to order it because the taste is quite good actually. 3. Steam Beef Tripe with Black Bean - 2/10. Maybe a certain people like it but for me, it really not my taste. Never finish it as i can only eat 3 stripes. It have a weird taste but as i said, maybe certain people would love the way it is been cook. 4. Yee Mee Pork Egg - 7/10. My wife eat it and rate it the way it is. Service & Atmosphere. 1. 8/10. Ada orang tolong buka pintu and the table also is marble one. Sangat bersih and sejuk. If you guys come here during morning time, i recommend you guys to sit jauh dari kipas and Aircond. Sangat sejuk.

That day just simple breakfast wan ton mee sup tomato and dim sum siu mai. The tomato mee soup okok, just enough lite taste is the soup with a hint of ginger taste. The wan ton is quite a lot too, and the portion quite a lot as the bowl is big. The dim sum siu mai is also on par, just typical and nothing to complain about it. But their home made chilli oil with fried garlic goes well with the dim sum. I will come again as their menu is very huge and many dish to choose.

Friendly staff, clean and fresh environment, delicious food, great service. Family favorite restaurant since i was in highschool and theyve improved a lot since then✨️🫶
Aurora C — Google review
I get a little panicky with their small, thick menu because I feel anxiety over too many choices haha. That said, I have had the dim sum here, chicken rice, steamed yam + pork rice, and Cha sau/ san nyuk rice. The food is good. The portion is quite big, but I don't agree with the plate they used for the Cha sau/San nyuk rice, I feel that it is a child size plate, so the food was like falling out. I would prefer a regular round plate. Other than this, the food is good, and it can get a little crowded. We would come again surely.

This place is our go to for great dim sums but we recently went in on a Monday and the dim sum were stale. We suspect the dim sums were left over from the day before. Disappointed.

Jom Dim Sum Sabah, formerly known as Kak Nong, is a popular kopitiam in Sabah that offers a variety of local delights. The sweet bowls of cendol are a must-try and are known for their exceptional flavors. This indoor air-conditioned restaurant serves halal dim sum and also offers Nasi Lemak sets. While some find the taste to be average, others consider it an affordable hidden gem for dim sum.
Taste : Very good ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Especially the fried radish cake. The "char" flavour smell so good. Price : Reasonable ⭐⭐⭐⭐ You can see the menus in the photo that I attached. Location : Semi Industrial area ⭐⭐⭐ So a bit difficult to have parking if come at peak hour. But I went there at 3pm and parked right in front of the restaurant. Staff : Need to be more friendly and smile more in welcoming customer ⭐⭐But she was very helpful in explaining the menus. Tq

An indoor air-conditioning Restaurant, serving Halal Dim Sum. Cozy & clean environment. Besides Dim Sum they also have Nasi Lemak set. Taste is average, and It's pricey for a Dim Sum that's small in size. Service quiet slow.

Decent dim sum. Some were just nice. I love the kaki ayam, salted egg pau and the fried radish cake. The place is cozy and the prices are surprisingly cheap. Don't forget to try the pineapple chili sauce. Sedap.

A nice relaxing place. It was very good at first but somehow the menu got lesser and lesser over time. Sometimes, not even a single dim sum is available. Please rectify this matter.

Hua Yuan Dim Sum, nestled in Citymall, Kota Kinabalu, is a must-visit for dim sum enthusiasts. This popular eatery is celebrated for its diverse menu and freshly steamed dishes prepared upon order. The restaurant boasts a comfortable atmosphere with both air-conditioned rooms and open-air seating options. Friendly staff are on hand to recommend delightful selections, making your dining experience even more enjoyable.
Looking for authentic Chinese meals, you can try this restaurant located at citymall. Lovely waitress who kind enough to recommend some of the delicious dishes. Open at 11am-2:30pm then they have breaktime, open again in the evening 5:30pm till 9pm. Atmosphere comfortable, there's private room for those who would like to host special occasion meals which can fit in 20pax.
DT P — Google review
Pretty decent dimsum here. Dimsum are big and tasty, and made upon order. Air conditioned rooms and open air tables available. Service is okay, didn’t have to wait long.
Lydia C — Google review
Nice atmosphere but a bit small. The Dim Sum stuffing & the taste surely delicious. Food are served fresh & hot upon order. Staff are very helpful & fast response with inquiry. The fired lobak a bit burnt and oily. Chee Chong fun was average. Thin and portion a bit small.
V W — Google review
we had dim sum lunch here today, price wise it's about the same at most dim sum restaurants. The only difference I noticed is we don't get thirsty after the meal, so I guessed they don't use too much msg which is so good to know. All the popular dim sum restaurants we tried are loaded with msg, so this is a pleasant surprise for us. This will be our to come dim sum place from now on.
Stella T — Google review
They didnt allow me to sit inside as the table was too big for 4 of us so give us the outside sit… Very bad atmosphere as we can feel the heat from their cooking area as we sat at outside..not worth the money, expensive with poor atmosphere outside.. dimsum so so and prefer the other dimsum from the shop i went before…
Jayne J — Google review
New dim sum restaurant open in citymall kk, not much choices but is is nice, once order then only the steam.
