If you haven’t been to Bakesale Betty, you’re missing out on something truly special. I ordered the apple rhubarb crumble pie and the strawberry shortcake, and both were absolutely phenomenal. What stood out most was the balance — not overly sweet, but rich in flavor and incredibly fresh. The crumble topping on the pie had just the right crunch, and the filling was perfectly tart and comforting. As for the strawberry shortcake, it was hands-down the best I’ve ever had — light, fluffy, and full of real strawberry flavor without being sugary. I’ve had my fair share of desserts, but these two stand out as some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re anywhere near Oakland!

If you love shortbread cookies this is the spot. I recommended the chocolate chip walnut. For me I love their pies. Their crumbles are so damn delicious. Also you wouldn't expect it but they have salads and chicken sandwiches which are fantastic.

My friend Faith was visiting from Maryland. I had asked her what and where she wanted to eat at while she was in town. She said, "Bakesale Betty"! (Oakland). Her first time trying this fried chicken sandwich w/slaw was 7 years ago. I was surprised that out of all the places she visited before, this was the spot she wanted to go back to! Bakesale makes many delicious baked goods which includes cookies, scones and pies. But, you are really here for one thing: Fried Chicken sandwich w/slaw. Crispy, juicy chicken w/touches of cayenne and pepper. Dare I say it's one of the best? I had one for lunch and I'm already thinking about wanting another one!

The fried chicken sandwich didn’t live up to the hype imo. Needed more spices/rub/pickled ingredients. Overall, it was still very good but not 5 star must have. Hot sauce is a must IMO. We got the strawberry shortcake too and it was good.

Pretty food but honestly bland and mediocre. I had the Hopscotch Brunch at the Itani pop-up event by surprise and was severely disappointed. The salad I was given was nearly impossible to pick up with a fork, the pork belly benedict was not seasoned and bland, and the best part of my meal was an accompanying fruit salad and my yuzu lemonade.

paid a lot of money for a whole fried chicken and sides. and was sent a bunch of scrappy unidentifiable pieces of chicken. We were guessing if it was a light or dark. the breasts were the size of thighs. basically they're the tender strips cut in half. although they weren't dry and traveled well. I find some type of a boneless wing and thigh??? and the pasta was a complete waste. my lady didn't mind the beans. the chicken wasn't bad or great and ketchup helped (plus not a negative). but I feel they failed in the promise of the menu. the chicken alone was $35 for a whole chicken not 2 legs and a bunch boneless of scraps. note: this review started with 1 star. however I found clean cooking oil. props to the Chef on that!

Nice brunch / dinner spot with a Southern food mixed with some Japanese influence. We had the fried chicken with biscuits which came with a generous portion of fried chicken cooked Karaage style and a nice savory gravy over well made biscuits. The Pork Belly Eggs Benedict was also quite lovely but more or less what you'd expect from a well executed version of this dish - hollandaise with a lemony twist and thick cut pork like bacon and a nice slice of challah. The donuts were outstanding and worth getting, they came with a unique and not too sweet butterscotch sauce on the side that I hadn't tried elsewhere. We had mimosas and they were well made and a good deal for the carafe. The service could have been better. The waiter was quite friendly but not very attentive and maybe checked in with us twice and never did bring the desert menu. We just grabbed one ourselves after waiting for a while. Overall it was a good reliable spot that executed the dishes well but you won't be finding anything that's going to raise the bar flavor wise.

Great service, delicious food, and awesome cocktails. The location is conveniently close to the freeway and had plenty of street parking too. We made a reservation so there wasnt a wait. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon even if you don't have a reservation. Definitely coming back here again so we can try all the different cocktails and meals.

Nice spot, had the pork chops and a burger that’s not pictured. Are outside which could have contributed but the items weren’t as warm as they could be. Our pork chop dish might have been missing some Okra as well as a table next to us got the same dish but with the Okra on top. Would try again in the future but this is currently why it’s a 3/5 for me.

Overall not bad, but there were multiple dishes we ordered that had major flaws. The eggs benedict had a really terrible hollandaise sauce (I can make a better one at home), and the eggs were completely overdone. The bright spot was probably the tonkatsu sandwich, which was crispy and well-seasoned. I personally didn’t really feel the japanese influences on the american classic dishes like the eggs benny, so that was quite disappointing.

This restaurant has great food and very attentive staff members! I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner. The tater tots were crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. The servers made my entire experience enjoyable.

This place is really good and flavorful! If you are looking for a female black owned place to eat this is your spot. Staff is always nice and they have very yummy cocktails to choose from. I got the Ackee and Salt fish! It was good! My friend got the oxtails they were a good size and so tender. I recommend this place if you are craving the taste of the Caribbean.

Stiff drinks. Decent baked macaroni and cheese. Okay greens - flavorful, tender. Skip the oxtail (tasted tooooooooo sweet!?!?!?) Fried chicken wings - YUMMY! Rum punchy tooo rummy. Corn fritters - just no.

I was looking forward to visiting based on reviews. The service was great. I went in on a Monday and it wasn’t busy. I had the wings, rice, and greens. The only thing that remotely came out hot was the chicken. Kinda salty but I could taste the flavor. The greens were lukewarm and very salty or vinegar like. And the rice was flavor less without hot sauce. Great location and I could imagine great vibes at night.

We stopped by for lunch while at a conference. I got the chicken and waffles. The waffles we're really good. They came, as the photo shows, with bananas and just enough syrup. The chicken was decent, not the best I have had but also not the worst. Combined, it was a good meal. I don't eat much, so I ended up giving half of my food to the person I was with who had a salad. We also ordered some of their in house juices. I got the ginger limeade, which was definitely made with real ginger. Luckily, I like ginger, so I enjoyed that as well. Prices were reasonable. Staff were nice.

Great spot to eat! Korean fried chicken wings on point! The ribs and the fried fish special was very tasty! The waitress was very friendly also. I recommend you stop by!

This is a beautiful restaurant. The inside is lovely, the patio is a great place to dine. We came here for brunch, and wow. The biscuits and gravy were fantastic, and they do not skimp on the heavy. The black pepper biscuit was tender but held up against the sausage sausage sausage gravy. I had chicken and waffles, easily the best waffle I've ever had. Real maple syrup. My husband had the gumbo and was very impressed, although next time he'll order the biscuit the side. The Mexican hot cocoa was more like a delicious chocolate soup. It actually came in a bowl, with a spoon. You'll love it. Get a bloody Mary as well, they are delicious. Will be coming back.

First time with my family on a early Sunday evening. Sat outside bc we brought our dog. Kids loved the fried chicken and pork belly bowls. My tofu bowl was also delish. Kids soup noodles is great for a more plain taste of kids. Garlic noodles was a little too saucy. But still tasty. Overall great. Service was awesome. The shop wasn't super busy but also not empty at 2pm on a Friday--comfy spot for a party of 1. Portion size was honestly just right, if not generous. Hope to come again and try some other dishes!

I online ordered my dinner from the website, And worker from the resturant called because I made 2 orders and he called yo confirm That was pleasant. But when I received my order my salad was delicious! My Daughter loved the garlic noodles and the the chicken was cooked how she likes it, my youngest Son is a chicken sandwich connoisseur he said it was 3 thumbs up it wasn't too spicy and it was very crispy my other Son got the beef he complained it was too tough and just eating the garlic rice and cucumbers he enjoyed that but said the cucumbers were bland. All in all the food was good despite the minor mishaps. 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Genuinely my favorite spot in the bay, everything I’ve ever tried on the menu is delicious. Highly recommend the fried chicken bowl with garlic noodles. If you only want chicken and noodles, no veggies, get the Tanya special. More expensive, but enough food for 2 meals for the average person. But try everything, it’s all amazing!

Great little casual restaurant that my better half discovered. Went there for our first time this afternoon, and we were very pleased. Flavorful chicken dishes, ample servings, very welcoming and congenial service, and so much more to try. Yes, we will return...many times...

Great menu. Just reading it is a pleasure. Despite its amusingly low budget production value (plastic slipcover) The twice curry-fried tofu was so well complimented by the cukes and leaves. Yum! The Thai tea float was great but a wee bit marred by the icyness of the ice cream that perhaps sat unsealed a bit long.

I wanted to love this place and I do love some aspects of it (the decor, music, Asian goodies) but unfortunately found their fried chicken super underwhelming. The breading is uneven and thin which makes for pretty soggy coating on the chicken (if you've ever been on a diet and got the Just Bare frozen chicken bites, it's kinda like that). I was hoping for a shatteringly crisp crunchy coating, and this just wasn't it. The actual chicken is a random mix of dark and white meat, and the pieces that are white meat were a little stringy. Also felt like the flavors were good, but lack depth (habenero miso and shichimi). The seasonal fried oyster mushroom was extremely tough and chewy, 1/10 do not recommend. The miso ranch was good though.

Good option for a quick meal, and I mean quick seriously. From order till I got my food was likely less than 4 minutes. I went with the 4 piece fried chicken with side salad, splitting the flavors on the chicken between BBQ(sauce) and General Tso(dry rub). Of the two the BBQ I personally preferred more, the flavor was deeper and the slight spice to it added more, it had a slight crisp but not as significantly as the the General Tso due to the dry rub. The general Tso was good as well and had a better crisp but the flavor was as exciting. The interior of the restaurant was a bit dim which is easier on the eyes but made my pictures come out a little dark. Not much else to say, happy with good fried chicken

We picked up a family size order. We also got an 8 piece chicken dinner so we would have 4 flavors of chicken in all. Everyone really enjoyed it and they said the rice was delicious. The only constructive criticism I can share is that we didn’t need a giant tray of cabbage that came with it. Other than that, it was great.

I hope to eat at Arburaya in person someday but until then I think this is the best takeout chicken in town. The chicken is tender, crispy and tossed in delicious sauces (with tangy & spicy options). Our favor fried chicken comes with crunchy cabbage and perfectly cooked rice. To top it all off, the menu is reasonably priced! They also happily accommodate our dietary restrictions. New location is much more sophisticated than the old, but also loses a lot of its charm. Spacious and well appointed with a large bar area. Food is as good as ever, though my personal opinion is that chicken and waffles is the reason to come here. All other dishes are good, not great. You will be hard pressed to find better fried chicken anywhere on the planet. The waffle is cornmeal based and light and fluffy - unlike any other waffle I’ve ever had.

The food was great. It's not very often I can get chicken and waffles. The one downside though was the chicken was a bit small. It was enough to get your taste buds going, but not enough to satisfy you. This made this particular entree a slight overpriced. The collard greens were a bit salty. The Mac-cheese was a good choice as a side and the grits were good. The sides were pretty well sized. The service was great, though a bit slow at the end when I was trying to pay the bill. I ended up having to go to the register behind the wall myself. The next time I come, I hope to get more chicken.

Waits can get up to an hour and a half long to be seated, but it's shorter if you go on a week day. It took maybe 10-15 minutes when I went on a Friday around 11pm. The food was okay. I was expecting a bit more, because of all the hype. The sandwich was standard, and the potatoes served with them are heavily spiced. The chicken and waffles looked really good, and the chicken was pretty juicy and also heavily seasoned, but the waffles weren't "light and fluffy." They were more of a thin batter, unsubstantial, and extremely oily. However, their drinks and other pastries looked really good, so would come back to try those. Overall, everything was extremely overpriced for what we got ($90+ for two chicken and waffles + a sandwich + chicken and eggs).

The beignets were okay, somewhat bland and nothing to write home about. My mimosa lacked the flavor of elderflower even tho I requested St Germain, l had to ask twice & they also barely put any orange juice in it...🙄 The shrimp & grits and collard greens were superbly seasoned despite not having any smoked meat products in the recipes. I forgot to get dessert which might have redeemed the meal. $34 was pricey for the portion size, doubt I'll be going back anytime soon.

This waffle was so good, we’ll be back next Sunday! My partner agrees. Best waffle ever. Light, delicate, crispy, and not overly sweet. And add a side of bacon. The coffee was also excellent. Intense with great flavor.

The food we ordered (Chicken and Waffles and a scramble + a biscuit and cornbread) was good but not great. Overall it was way overpriced and not worth the wait. The service was also bad. After waiting over an hour to be seated we then had to wait another 20 minutes before anyone even checked-in on us. My husband's food was brought out luke warm and part of my order wasn't brought out with the rest of the food. I politely requested the missing item and was told it was on its way. Near the end of our meal, I flagged someone else down and also let them know that it was still missing. It was finally brought out after we were done with everything else and nobody apologized or seemed concerned. It was a truly disappointing first, and last, experience as I typically love genre of food.

YUUUUUM. This food looked, smelled, tasted and felt CLEAN and made with obvious Love. We had the blackened cat fish over ride, collard greens and mashed potatoes along with two ginger beers. Every bite was sensational! Perfect combination of flavors. We said mmmmmm, every single bite! This meal was not heavy and gave us lots of energy to enjoy the afternoon. I highly recommend this place. Although next time I might try sitting indoors.

I’ve eaten here several times and have always planned to come early. My go to order is their chicken and waffle. I also love their biscuits. I love breakfast and when I crave for a specific chicken and waffle, this place always comes to mind. I don’t live close enough so I don’t get to eat here as often as I would like but I will drive for good food 😋

Ordered the "Reggie Jackson", 2 fried chops 2 eggs 2 homemade biscuits Grits and coffee (25$)...and let me tell you it was flavorful, filling and worth every bite. Lois the Pie Queen is one of those spots that just feels like Oakland. The food is always on point—every single thing I’ve tried has been fire. It’s one of my go-to places, and any time I have people visiting from out of town, I make sure they eat here at least once. Lately I’ve been on a low-sodium diet, and when I asked if they could make some adjustments, they didn’t just say yes…they actually made it taste good. That meant a lot. It’s rare to find a place that doesn’t just feed you but really looks out for you too. This spot is the real deal. Good people. Great food. Always worth it.

Been a fair few years since my last visit, but Lois the Pie Queen continues to be a landmark & must-hit establishment. The Southern Fried Chicken breakfast special isn't cheap, but for the hefty portion is well worth(I recommend dark meat, especially!). The place is filled with photos and mementos of community & well-known figures as well. All of the food is great, staff is friendly and attentive, and the pies - fantastic! Cannot recommend enough.

We had the chicken and waffles and the Reggie Jackson. Both were tender, crunchy, and delicious. Bring your appetite - the portions are big. The staff was awesome and crushed it during the morning rush. AAA+++

Went to Lois The Pie Queen for breakfast and everything was amazing! The standout dishes for me were the potato pie cheesecake and the vegetable omelette, which paired perfectly with their homemade biscuits. Highly recommend – we’ll definitely be back!

This place has amazing breakfast, especially enjoyed the hotcakes and hotlinks! The hotcake was really fluffy and tasty. The texture of the eggs are noteworthy as well they were delicately cooked to perfection with exceptional scrambled creaminess. Hashbrowns and bacon was good too I love the crispy way they cooked them. Will have to come back to this place and try the pie next time I'm in town for sure.

The Rosemary Fried chicken was juicy, flavorful and delectable. A sure sign of a good fried chicken recipe is that you don’t have to do any seasoning, the spices, herb and salt all work together like a symphony. I had a 2 piece combo, which includes a small side and a piece of cornbread. It was delicious. I had the vegan collard greens as a side. I am going to try the red beans and rice and mac and cheese when I go back.

This was some REALLY GOOD FOOD!! The chicken was HOT! The yams were seasoned to the T!! The two cinnamon sticks were definitely a bonus!!! The Mac and cheese…just yummm! We had to wait a little while for our food, however it was WELL worth the wait! Had to show love from Texas!!

Customer service was great, she was very friendly and helpful! I got a 2 piece chicken and they through in a few extra pieces! Chicken was crispy and moist, love their unique flavor! I got a side of Mac and cheese which was also very good, I can skip the collard greens next time, wasn't my preference in flavor but they weren't bad either. Cornbread on point too! All together Food was definitely satisfying!

Chicken - moist, flavorful, fully cooked but not greasy at all. Detected an herb or spice I was not familiar with. Will have my hubby come next time to help me figure that out. Sides - cornbread just OK - would have been better if it had honey butter on it. But I didn't see any honey or butter on the counter and none was offered. Mac n cheese was delish - creamy, gooey and the macaroni was cooked just right. Red Cool Aid - Fun to try on first visit - definitely a nostalgia moment for me. Tasty? Yes. Worth $3? No. Service - efficient but not friendly, and no offers for sides like butter or honey. Overall - what we southerners call a proper Sunday dinner. Definitely going back. But I'll stay away from coming toward closing hours, as I've hard they often close up earlier than their posted hours.

First time at the public market and I'm glad I checked Yelp before I made my selection. The fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and sweet tea is the stuff of dreams here! Fried chicken is fried perfectly with rosemary... My only complaint is I should of ordered more for later! The macaroni and cheese had so many delicious flavors... a little spice a little nice... creamy cheesy goodness. The pickled veggies were perfect. . Try with a bloody Mary from the bar... because it's the weekend and self care and reasons!

Just got finished with eating here and it was so delicious. I had the two piece, Mac and Cheese and the sweet tea. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The cornbread had a wonderfully distinct taste and the Mac and cheese was some of the best I have ever had. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and come try it. You won’t regret it!

Oooo weeee Yes! Just when I was about to give up, I found the soul food I’ve been searching for okayyyy Rosemary fried chicken is the bomb dot com: crispy, juicy & flavorful. The Mac n cheese and greens were Ahhhmazing! Oh and I don’t like my cornbread sweet but theirs was pretty good. Y’all should definitely check out Minnie Bell’s it’s located inside the public market in Emeryville.

I’ve been to Wayfare Tavern several times before and have loved each experience until last night. We were seated promptly at our reservation time which was great, however it then took took 10 minutes before anyone talked to us or got us any water. Not the end of the world, but things didn’t exactly pick up from there. The table next to us was extremely loud, that’s not the restaurant’s fault but added to the chaos of the evening. It took more than 20 minutes to get our first drink, and when my wife was given a chance to place her drink order they eventually came back to let her know that they were out of that specific cocktail. Bread showed up around the 30-minute mark, then shortly after our food arrived. From there we went about half an hour without anyone checking in, and no one ever asked how our food was once it arrived. The appetizer selection has always felt a bit underwhelming, but thankfully, the fried chicken was just as good as I remembered. It was crispy and juicy and just overall great. My wife enjoyed her burger and fries. And the macaroni and cheese we ordered to share was great. The food was phenomenal as always which kept this from being a one-star experience.

This place is solid I would totally take a date here, a parent, a friend visiting. This place is just classic good dinning and the service is incredible. I don’t think I’ve had hospitality like that in a really long time. Get the deviled eggs those are bomb. The steak and fish were mid, but I think if you went for the schnitzel, fried chicken or burger you would be in heaven. Would totally come back!

Wayfare Tavern is such an incredible spot for a wedding reception — timeless, cozy, and filled with that signature San Francisco charm. The food is phenomenal (truly some of the best I’ve ever had at a wedding!), and the staff is so attentive and welcoming. I had an amazing lunch at Wayfare Tavern’s new location on Pine street today with two colleagues who are also in the hospitality industry. They have made a more than successful move to their new space. The food was exceptional, service exceptional, and pricing reasonable. We sat in a very comfortable banquet near the hotline and enjoyed the show. The restaurant is gorgeous and features both indoor and outdoor seating. We’ll definitely be back again!

Wow… So I walked around downtown taking some photos, and I saw this place. No thinking about I walked in and asked for table/ bar seat. Wow… The host greeted me with smile and gave me nice spot by the window (i love it). Maybe bc my camera… maybe bc they are like that… I grabbed attention of one of the managers… I think it was Uri… - great guy, we spoke about SF, food… The food was amazing! I don’t even know… how to describe it but my plate was empty! Delicious? I think something better than that! Recommend!

Though the food, I had the schnitzel, was ok. My friend had the burger and enjoyed it. We split the whipped potatoes. Generally it was fine but underseasonsed for us both. My pork, on the bone, schnitzel was really fatty and non enjoyable in that section of it. Service was fantastic.

Really had a great time at this restaurant as the vibe was really enjoyable. Parking can be tricky but you might be able to get a space right out front. We enjoyed the catfish, gumbo and fried chicken. The waiter informed us that both the catfish and crawfish are flown in daily from Louisiana. That’s how the food tastes like it’s from NOLA. Also loved the beignets for desserts.

This restaurant perfectly captures the vibe of NOLA - jazz music, weathered walls adorned with tiled crocodiles, trinkets, and trumpets. The service is super cheerful and quick. We ordered Angeline's Gumbo, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and Beignets - each dish was rich, deep, and full of flavor, nearly perfect. We loved everything so much that we even ordered extra to take home. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Definitely one of my best NOLA experiences in the Bay Area!

Angeline's was a very tasty authentic southern meal and I was excited to have Abita root beer for the first time in a while. We got the BBQ shrimp, Mac & cheese, and etouffee as well as the bananas foster bread pudding. It was all really well made, and served hot. It was filling and definitely delivered the Southern comfort that Creole/Cajun food promises. The service was also really great and attentive.

Nice spot for Louisiana (creole) food! The shrimp tasted great and the fried chicken was awesome. The green beans looked like they were just steamed and not necessarily sautéed or anything but the sauce for my creole shrimp made up for it. Outdoor seating is nice and service was very friendly and attentive. A little pricey but I didn’t mind given how good the food was and the portions are generous.

Needed reservations bc this place gets busy fast. We had the kiddos, and they offer crayons and color pages. Our favorites were the fried grits, fried catfish, arugula salad, and mac & cheese. The catfish was on the thin size, but the batter and seasoning were on point.

Everything we had was delicious! Catfish Poboy, mac & cheese,hush puppies, bowl of gumbo, the Arugula salad, and the banana bread pudding. Everything was spectacular.

Me and my friend shared the alligator hash and a side of andoullie and brussel sprouts- Perfect portion for us, and ABSOLUTELY delicious. Great service, sweet souls and smiles. Will certainly be back! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I was craving soul food and this restaurant did not miss!! The chicken was crispy and seasoned. The waffle was absolutely delicious and had the perfect texture, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! The sides (cornbread, greens and mac and cheese) also were also delicious! Our waitress was so sweet and the owner was very kind as well! The RnB Music definitely set the vibe. I love that this was a restaurant with a place to dine in and not just take out. We will definitely be back soon!

The new spot for the famous Home of Chicken and Waffles is smaller, but also boasts a full liquor license and the same incredible food as always. Everyone here is kind and thoughtful, the service is top notch (warm towels at the end??? Amazing), and the food is phenomenal. Always always worth the wait.

Late night run after visiting family in the hospital. Looked up places in the area and this caught my eye. Sides definitely slapped, but chicken wings were unseasoned and it seemed like the grease was on its last leg. Maybe cause it was within an hour of closing. It was definitely a decent meal and I would still go back! Upon arrival, we were waiting on a menu and just sitting there and then realized there was a QR code on the drink menu, but no one told us that. No real complaints, small spot but definitely a vibe with great music playing over the speakers and a nice bar.

I’ve been coming to chicken and waffles for years, this is my first time visiting since their new location and Marva was the perfect server for our visit. She makes you feels like you’re visiting family with her southern hospitality. We enjoyed having her presence and would recommend chicken and waffles to anyone who visits the town. I’ve loved Home of Chicken & Waffles for many years but it had been a while since I’ve had a good meal there. Our first time at the new location did not disappoint. I love the bar and how open it is. We came here because of outdoor seating to accommodate our dog but pleasantly surprised at the Really tasty brunch food. I normally like a bed of grits but the shakewell’s version is kind of like a polenta cake. Still good though. We also had the fried cod and chicken & churros. The churros were really good, thick and fluffy. Price was a bit high for brunch but other than that service was really good too.

It’s a fusion Spanish/ Mediterranean restaurant…. The service was great but the food was good too but the portions were small. They accommodated our big group in their outside seating and brought the food very fast.

The churros are so, so good. You must get them. Crispy and fluffy and the sauce is not too sweet. Other things that were delicious were the potatoes, the fried chicken, and the yum yum bowl. The paella, which seemed to be their signature dish, was bland. I'd come back to try brunch.

Torn between 4 or 5 star because my personal experience of eating the fried chicken sandwich was disappointing, and the berry zero-proof drink was also a let down. But objectively maybe they were probably fine? The chicken sandwich was just so small and unmemorable. The drink was plain and didn't taste like berries. No mint either. Disappointing. The other food were all good - the shakshuka and vegan bowl were quite delicious! And those serving sizes seemed a lot better. The chicken and churros looked really good and I wish I had ordered that instead. Anyways, service and vibes inside are really good and on a Saturday 1pm we were able to immediately be seated without a reservation. Good luck!

After several years of not being back, the food is as good as I remember. Came here for lunch on a Sunday and there was a good amount of seating that felt very covid safe outdoors and well spaced. The sea adds skin was amazing. The chicken was well spiced. The churros were crisp on the outside with a soft kind of eggy center. The sauces for everything was amazing

Got seated without a wait at 8pm on a Saturday. Excellent tables by the window to people watch both inside and on the street. Everything was delicious. Goat cheese plate was beautifully balanced. Patatas bravas were definitely a 2 serving plate. Drinks were strong but nuanced. Definitely coming back.

Delicious food! Outside is way too loud so we moved to the back patio which was so nice. Spacious with spaced out seating and space heaters. It’s at the back of the building too so it’s away from cars and pedestrians.

I love that they operate by walk ins only. And if you do have to wait, just know it’s worth it. The staff are cute as hell, the service is attentive but not overbearing, and the food is worth the price. If you’re looking for wood fired pizza and upscale casual dining look no further. Do yourself a favor and order the Caesar salad and if it’s available the strawberry Negroni in addition to your pizza ;) This spot is definitely an Oakland staple to visit monthly if not weekly! And the temescal neighborhood has so many places to hop to after your meal!

Decent Italian place, but not as good as it appears from how busy it is and the high reviews. The wait can be long. Put your name down and check back frequently. They don't call or text you. We waited almost 1 hr at dinner time on a Sat. They have indoor and outdoor seating (with heat lamps). Very dark inside. Small 1 page menu. Always a good thing. We ordered the mushroom pasta $36, pork ragu pasta $32, morel pizza (mushroom) $34, and panna pizza $29. Both pastas were housemade, high quality, good flavor, decent portion. While the pizzas had a great crust and were good overall, they were all charred. Both pizzas, one so severely charred that we asked for a new one, which they kindly provided. New one was still charred but much more edible. Check the bottom of your pizza before eating. The pizzas felt overpriced Overall, overrated Cons: overpriced, can't cook pizza properly, minimal service Pros: authentic food, high quality ingredients They add a 4% living wage that you can request to take off. I don't recommend this place. There are better options

Pizzaiolo has been my favorite restaurant in the Temescal Rockridge area for many years. There is a reason why they are still so popular: it's the food. It's the vibe (always great music). It's the wait staff. Whether you are sitting inside or on the lovely back patio, it is California / Italian-inspired dining at its best. The salads are amazing. Tonight the tuna crudo was like the most sublime sashimi only better because it was giant slabs of tuna. Always love the pizzas. Even the bread to start with the salty butter is to die for. Be sure to order olives. The drinks are fantastic, with house made tonics. You will not find any restaurant with more carefully sourced, local ingredients than Pizzaiolo.

Overall food tastes good, however would not return due to service and cost given the service. 5/10. Came on a Friday night. Alcoholic drinks were okay. Ordered the burrata appetizer, pesto spaghetti and the corn pizza as well as dessert which all tasted pretty good. The service was strange. We were seated before a table next to us and the table next to us consistently got their food, drinks, and was asked if they wanted dessert or service every time before us even though we had sat down before them and were clearly ready to order or ready to move on to dessert. Wasn’t that considerably off but just felt weird in the timing. It’s also very loud inside and I had to raise my voice frequently so my partner could hear me and they had to do the same. Service is generally slow but felt slower than the table next to us. Was not sure if the difference in treatment was privy to our waitresses opinion of us and made us wonder. Oh well, will not be returning anytime soon given the wide array of restaurants here and would not be eager to recommend to friends and family either!

First time dining in Pizzaiolo was a mixed experience, ambiance as deco is nice, but the music is too loud to enjoy a family dinner. Pizza, chicken and salads and desserts were good, a curated wine list was a plus, but the service was unpleasant, the server who also speaks Spanish never introduced himself, impolite (confusing being friendly with being fresh), rude taking orders, serving food and drinks, smiling ONLY while presenting th check. I probably return for the food, hoping to have a different server.

Have been coming here for years and I always love the ambiance and service. Our recent dinner was very disappointing. Green salad with green goddess dressing was so sad. Literally 4 leaves of romaine tasting bland lettuce with unsalted dressing for $19. The tomato salad was very good as always, but again 1/2 the portion as in the past. The mushroom pizza was not tasty at all. Someone in the kitchen should probably try it and see if something is wrong? The bolognese was delicious and I wish that’s all I had. The margarita pizza is always good but $24….For 4 adults and 4 little kids we paid $400. This should be a special meal for that price but I will not be back for a long time.

Solid place for a bite for about $15 total with chicken sando and tots. Order at Kiosk, very modern energy. The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich itself is good, not great. Good Flavour, the size and quality of chicken itself could be better. For the $10.50 price tag, super solid. Will be back, if in the area

Well dressed and seasoned crispy chicken that overhangs the bun, spicy but not too spicy. Slaw was a fantastic complement with lots of celery and apple. Prices were great and service was quick. Will definitely come back here next time I’m in town.

ordered the fried chicken sandwich, all the fixings and spicy. it was delicious and one of the best fried chicken spots in SF. chicken was juicy and filling, the coleslaw and pickles were an excellent and fresh complement with a toasted sandwich bun to boot. would recommend for anyone to swing by and try out. the sandwich was so appetizing i couldn't get a good photo before devouring. the staff was excellent and one gentleman even recommended something from earlier in the day they still had (the apple fritters)! so stop by early if youre lucky enough to try those as well, they're delicious too!

Visited The Bird while in SFO based on the great reviews, and it didn’t disappoint. The place is small and a bit tight on seating, but the food makes up for it. The Naked Bird is a must-try—unique flavor and good portions for the price compared to nearby spots. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in downtown

Best chicken sandwich’s in SF. Chicken was juicy snd crispy, coleslaw was not too creamy, just the right amount of crunch and acidity. If you’re looking for Dave’s Hot Chicken in the city, come here you won’t be disappointed. Donuts were solid but go for the chicken sandwich

I don't go into this part of town much for obvious reasons but when I do always stop at The Bird for some of their world famous fried chicken! It was Hacksaw Jack the ex triangle player for the San Francisco Symphony that prompted my visit to Montgomery Street, it seems he's getting booted from his office space to make room for a new In-N-Out that'll be opening in March! Well...I helped him move his equipment, and then we went to The Bird and had an Amazing meal. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

I was not impressed with the food here, I was expecting better based on the reviews. The chicken for the sandwich had too many tendons in it, made it hard to bite through, and was absolutely buried in a pile of mayo making the breading very soggy. The curly fries are very similar to your average frozen brand or chain fast food place curly fries.

Ah, I do appreciate that this is a dedicated vegan restaurant, but for us, it just was miss. My aunt (not vegan/plant-based) didn’t enjoy the fried “chicken” that she order on her Caesar salad. I tasted it and understood why, it had that weird , spongy, seitan texture. The salad alone is good because their dressing is excellent. I ordered the mozzarella sticks and Jalapeños Business. The inside of the mozzarella sticks didn’t give the cheesy pull that I’ve found at some other spots, it was more cakey. The marinara and breading was tasty, but I did not care for the cashew cheese’s texture. The flavor of the Jalapeño Business was good, but the texture was a miss for me. The highlight of the meal, was the pickle; they have some of the best pickles. For the two of us, we were definitely disappointed with the meal. I don’t see me trying this spot again; not willing to spend $65 on a meal that was so dissatisfying.

This place is a vegan’s paradise! My go-to brunch and lunch place for the weekend in Berkeley! Can’t say enough good things. The vegan steak and egg sandwich on a hoagie roll is probably my favorite item on the menu (but I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here). The Reuben sandwich is also top notch, but on the richer side (taste wise). Basically, everything is good…just go…try it for yourself…and become just as obsessed! Also worth noting, they had a ton of case items that you can buy for home. Everything from desserts, sauces, snacks, vegan meats, and vegan cheese. They even carry the Climax vegan blue cheese that made headlines for causing disruption in the dairy blue cheese market. They have plenty of indoor seating as well as a beautiful private patio in the rear of the building. The staff do a great job of keeping the place clean and I’ve always left satisfied.

Love this all vegan sandwich place! pricey ( like everything else these days ) but worthy indulgence once in a while. tried pastrami Rueben was phenomenal. The jackfruit sandwich was just ok. kale salad with Jackfruit was good but my absolute favorite is the pastrami Reuben!

Steak and cheese. The idea is not to expect the same as an old Philly cheesesteak. But it brings the same joy when eating it. It was packed and could barely take a bite without it all shooting out. Nice hearty roll, flavorful steak and plenty of cheese. Added cooked onions, lettuce and tomato. Hit the spot. Side bacon Mac and cheese. Love this side dish

6/19/2025 For the 2nd time I got the gyro sandwich without lettuce on gyro flatbread and got more onions than usual plus i was given extra tziki sauce I told my mom that Weird Al goes to Butcher's daughter in LA. I surmised Weird AL was a vegan by the 1989 album and movie soundtrack in UHF where Weird Al says that eggs are liquid chickens implying that Weird Al is vegan. I saw there were three quiches cooked and on the counter. This time I noticed the carafe that says TIMELESS COFFEE on it and it reminded to get the vegan cross aints on Piedmont Ave in Oakland at the Timeless Coffee just around the corner from where I live. I finally got to eat here and got the pickles and fried chicken sandwich. The cafeteria burger pickles were too chewy and salty for me, next time I would eat them on the side. I should have let the sandwich cool down because I couldn't really taste the flavors and all that sauce. I want to eat it again soon! The chicken Parm sandwich is big enough for 2. There is plenty of setting in back of the restaurant in the courtyard shared with a neighboring restaurant. hello Reginice I'll like your review if you like my review. I can't add more photos from today of my gyro sandwhich with be'ef instead of chick'n. Actually I noticed that you got 2 stars out of 5 and i feel this rating is rude and unappreciative even elitist given that this is in Berkeley near a famous public uni. Not all restaurants have really good everything on the menu is not equally good. The cheezesticks you will just have to wait until the inventor of vegan cheeze that melts the way we want it to for pizza comes out of west Africa Senegal I believe. Your mom was super silly to not order something else. Of course the chick'n pieces for your moms salad wasn't going to be that good. Obviously you should have ordered something else or asked more questions instead of being like that. Okay its Juneteenth and I have to write a letter to my friend Stewie and the food camper trailer to go vegan veganize so they can sell more orders. We are in solidarity as vegan restaurants for the most part. Eating rabbit food isn't my thing so I'm thankful for mocks meats. Solid vegan eats, with a large variety of fun and exciting options like fish bites, lobster roll, garlic parm fries, and chicken parm sandwich. Overall as a carnivore, I did enjoy my meal and would recommend everyone give these fun meat alternatives a try.

Amazing vegan food! Stopped here twice in one weekend as we were visiting from Toronto, the food is so good and the portions are huge! Our favourite ended up being the big fat Greek sandwich but all were delicious especially the garlic fries. Can’t wait to come back!

I need to apologize. First, this plate to go was the most edible, but I drove to Oakland to the Farmers market to l and saw a plate drop Lena's . And I live in San Jose, so by the time I got home , I started in on it and then took a picture, my bad, but it's season very well and tasty. Lena's, you got 5 stars from me, thank you. The service was great!

As I entered the building, there was a female customer in front who made a big stink about who knows what. The owner came out to talk to her and she couldn’t even tell him what her problem with the place was. The owner did his best to listen to her, but there was nothing he could really do that would make her happy. I think she got a free mac and cheese out of complaining so much and then left. The owner was really polite and professional about the whole situation. The food itself was just plain delicious. It was definitely not cheap but the portions were good sized. I had the fish, mac-n-cheese and, per the owner’s suggestion, the greens. I saw the dessert and passed it up at first because, as I stated, the prices were a little high, reflecting the cost of living. But when the cashier said it was banana pudding cheesecake, I was sucked in. As I said, the food definitely did NOT disappoint! I finished every last bite- including the dessert. The one suggestion I definitely have to make is to streamline the service a little better. There were plenty of employees behind the counter, but the service seemed to be a little slow. I was told to have a seat after I had ordered and wait for the cashier to call me. For my situation and the group behind me, it would have made sense for one server to walk me through the serving line till I got to the cashier. The same for the individuals behind me. They were part of a group but paying separately. I got that the employees were working at separate stations but it just seems it would have flowed better with one server per customer from beginning to end. I ordered takeout but the interior and the patio both were modern and well designed. This isn’t the first time I have eaten here and it definitely won’t be the last. They have me hooked with that great food. Oh, lastly, it would definitely be good if they updated their Facebook page. Nothing posted recently.

Lena's came highly recommended. We arrived and appreciated the enclosed parking lot. We went in and the decor was updated. Retrochic with cloth table cloths and napkins..giving an upscale vibe. The food is cooked in a buffet setup but you purchase meals or ala carte. We chose fish n prawns w red beans n rice and potato salad..we also chose fried chicken w collard greens, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Fish and Prawns flavor were bomb. I wish they were warmer (that precooked part). Greens were fresh, not much seasoning. The potato salad looked and tasted store bought. Disappointing. Mashed potatoes did not taste homemade. Red beans n rice nice ratios...rice slightly underdone. Interesting atmosphere..like being at your cousins house with the staff yelling in the dining room. Our waiter was very nice and professional. He had a Beautiful white 300. Didn't get his name. He made it pleasurable.

Stopped in for lunch. Service was a little slow due to new employees. OK food OK service. I will return cause there is some foods I would like to try. I like to eat as you can see in the picture. Look like they gave me a kid plate. But I will return.

My girlfriends and I went to Lena’s this past Saturday and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Everything about Lena’s was great. The staff was courteous, polite, and very attentive to us. The food was very tasty and everything to my likeness. I couldn't get enough of the fried fish 😋. I definitely will return. H-Town was in the house!!

I went to Lena’s on Sunday and the food was amazing!!!! I didn’t have any complaints. The yams were PERFECT! They were the best yams I’ve had in a long time. The mac n cheese was to die for. I had a side of cabbage that was good too. The cornbread taste like my grandma’s cornbread. The sweet potato pie was everything!!! I will definitely be back this Sunday. The customer service was amazing too. Shout out to Jamiela who I spoke with on the phone while trying to catch them before they close during my 45 minute commute. They were closing but was waiting for my arrival. I definitely recommend this place!

Food was not good. Very bland. Out of all the soul food options In Oakland, I'd say skip this place. A better option is "mahogany soul" or "Everett's and jones" in Oakland. . We both found the food to be pretty bland.. overall, nothing really special or worth coming back for. The yams are really good but that's it . Everything else is regular. I ordered "SMOTHERED" oxtails and rice. I was disappointed with how non existent the gravy was... the oxtails tasted underwhelming. It just taste like oil...

🍗 🍞 🥒 Simply delicious fried chicken sandwiches here, big chunks of chicken, tasty pickle, and your choice of spice level. There’s limited seating so it’s perfect as a to go option. Around lunchtime it can get busy so it’s good to order ahead online. It was so good I forgot to take a photo until after the first bite. That is how you know it’s good.

Good food and great customer service. Outdoor seating only and one gender neutral bathroom available for patrons. Their chicken sandwich is good but I really like the loaded fries. They do NOT play with their spice levels. Take it easy if you can’t handle it. Have some milk on standby if you decide to challenge your palette. Enjoy!

Hit up Hotboys in Oakland and got the Sando Combo—swapped one of the sides for their étouffée, and it was 🔥. The sandwich was stacked, juicy, and full of flavor, and the étouffée was a wonderful surprise—rich, buttery, and just the right amount of spice. Everything tasted super fresh. Chill vibe, friendly service, and good value for the portion size. Definitely coming back to mix and match more combos!

A small hole in the wall place with limited outdoor sitting, serving spicy dishes. We ordered a Take Away, they did not pack a part of the order and we check after reaching home. You may try for once.

There is a long wait for the food. The person standing at the front does not call out the names as orders become ready. So your food is sitting in the window and you have to return to the desk to ask them each time. Is your food ready. I don’t understand why he doesn’t call out the names as the food becomes available. Customers would like to have their food hot. And by doing that you’re causing more people to congregate at the front desk. The people waiting to order the people waiting for their food and the people who have to keep coming back to ask if the food is ready. Nobody wants to eat cold fries.

Pretty good fried chicken. I like that they have an option to choose dark or white meat. I got the tender(white meat) chicken sando, medium spicy. It was spicy enough for me to enjoy it (go higher only if you really like the heat).

The good: Flavorful chicken, well made fries with a touch of seasoning that make them more interesting, and good amount of pickles and slaw on the sandwich. This location appears to be a pickup window/table only (at least on the weekend day we went), which is great for airborne safer takeout. Food was ready when they said it would be. Why not 5 stars? The spice levels were totally off, at least for me-- reviews/reports had indicated HOTBOYS was spicier than typical. I like very spicy, but not so spicy that you don't taste anything, even if I can handle it. So I got Med+. A friend got Mild+. Neither of our sandwiches were spicy to any extent, though the seasoning had a good flavor. I might try again but get either max spicy or the one just below. Also, all the pickles were scrunched up in one area and before I realized it, they all came in one bite. :( This wasn't a factor in the review, but cost wise, this is still pretty expensive, though quality a step or two better than Popeye's for sure.

I could say so much about this place, so I will try to get to the point. Got there around 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon and there were not too many people there. The lady at the counter gave me a menu with a few minutes to look. She came back and when I was ready to order se stated that the special was not available, along with a lot other items on the menu. I took it as a sign to just order something else. Everything I ordered was phenomenal. Seafood was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Mac and cheese was “cheesin”. Yams were soft and sweet. Blueberry lemonade was out of this world. I know this restaurant does not have an issue with cooking the food. Shout out to Yaya. Heard her name multiple time being yelled to the kitchen (I assume she was the one throwing down in the back). Sitting at my table, hearing multiple customers being told that their order could not be fulfilled because they ran out of supplies before the dinner rush even began, was a little disheartening. I felt bad for the customers, as well as the worker telling them. The server was doing her best to keep things afloat by herself until two more workers showed up to alleviate her. I truly do wish this restaurant can see the issues it has and correct them. There was a long line of people ready to order and pick up their food. Not one of them left the line to go elsewhere. That how I knew that they have a quality product. I’ll definitely be back. Wish y’all the best.

Family business, casual, great for take out, and great prices! Friendly staff, great soul food. Got fried chicken, collards, yams, and mashed potatoes. Big portions with the ½ chicken meal. We both brought chicken and sides home. Steady business including take out.

I ordered the smothered chicken meal with my sides as rice and gravy, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. I was hopeful that because this was a Black owned soul food place that the food would be good. I was wrong. Now first let me say the customer service was good. I was greeted with a smile and a “welcome in” and did not wait more than 3 minutes to get my order. However the food is nasty yall I can't even lie. The chicken was under seasoned and super soggy (I’ve made and had smothered chicken more times than i can count the skin should not be slimy either). I used the salt and pepper packets that come with the utensils and that brought it from a 2/10 to a 3/10. I’ve never had gravy so bland in my life. The macaroni was so dry it was actually crunchy (if i can post a video to show you i will) and that was the best thing at 3.5/10. The beans were by far the worst. They tasted like someone just grabbed a can from Safeway and warmed it up in the microwave but with A TON OF SALT. I think I downed 12-16oz of water just from trying to eat the beans alone. The rice was also unseasoned and was under the gravy from the Smothered Chicken. It was practically mush. I’m sad because I have yet to find halfway decent Soul food here in California (im from Detroit) and this was probably some of the worst food I've ever had. My stomach is actually growling as I write this review because of how much food idid not eat because i could not force myself to suffer through and eat it. The only upside is that I know to never recommend this place to friends and family when they come visit. I try to give Black owned businesses a lot of grace but I’m a grad student yall and I can’t believe I just wasted $20 on food that’s this bad 😭

I ordered from GrubHub and am so disappointed. The chicken has hair and feathers, not seasoned. The Mac n cheese and dressing is not tasty. The green beans look horrible but they were good. The fish and shrimp is so/so. I asked for hot sauce, they sent ketchup. I'll try them again in person, but my first impression is not a good one.

Placed our order.. About 30 min wait. Came to pick up to go order and they were out of yams , replaced with red beans and rice. Had to remind them they left off dressing - it was slammed on the counter at the window from the kitchen . Greens tasted a little rank. The dressing was bland. The Mac and cheese was overly saturated with the juices from the sour greens. Was told cornbread came with the meal but it was left out. All and all the service was poor and the food was subpar!

Came here before love the food love the customer service came in. Today was ignored at the register. Took 15 minutes just to get my order taken only to find out. There was no dressing. Read it with an attitude young lady dress very provocative to be working at a soul fruit restaurant will never come back here again. I need to get some grown adult adults instead of young adults serving the people

Decent breakfast spot. Fried chicken is surprisingly tender and moist. Loved it paired with their hollandaise. Cold brew was also surprisingly floral. Service is quick. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it's worth stopping by if you're around the area

Fatimas shakshuka was good with the green peppers, refilled my pita bread when I finished it and still had some more hummus leftover, the hummus was very good and the eggs were made perfect. Chicken snd waffles were good but just wish there was more syrup, fried chicken was the best part. Good place for breakfast or lunch, dining area is somewhat smaller so best for parties of 2-3 people

One of the finest breakfasts I had in a long, long time. Had the C&B platter plus French Toast. Both were amazing. Service is very good. Place is nice. Such an open vibe. Cannot recommend it any higher. A lot of positive hustle and bustle. A definite “must” when in SF.

This place has great food. I had their chicken and waffle breakfast plate and it was delicious. Wasn't sure if they served real maple syrup with that though. I'll have to ask next time I go

This place was a huge letdown. After waiting 30 minutes in line (they said 15), we ordered the C&B Plate and Fried Chicken Benedict. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it did, the eggs were wrong, and the chicken was missing. They gave us a small piece of chicken and what felt like someone else’s scrambled eggs to make up for it. To top it off, when I asked for hot sauce, they handed me a broken bottle that spilled all over my plate. The service felt careless, and the experience was frustrating from start to finish. I’m never going back to this place again!

The place was packed, and we ended up sitting outside after about 20 minutes on the waitlist. Unfortunately, there were no heaters, and it was very windy and cold. You order using a QR code, and it took around 15 minutes for the food to come out. Sadly, the food was cold by the time we got it. The flavors and portions were good, and I can see why the place is popular.

A must-visit in SF. Great restaurant with very friendly owners. Amazing location too, and great to walk around afterwards. I recommend the chicken benedict- it’s amazing. Their potatoes are also quite scrumptious. Whether you sit indoors or outdoors, you will have a great time. I recommend going with the family or with friends.. you will definitely want to go again.

Frisco Fried is a staple in the bayview neighborhood. The owner and staff are natives and have a wealth of information. The lemon pepper chicken wings were really good. The other 3 people whom I was with all had the oxtails. They said the oxtails were really good. I tried the yams. The yams were delicious. We will be back. Thank you for being apart of the neighborhood and in the neighborhood.

I am from Houston Tx and was visiting the city of San Francisco and wanted to try there Oxtails dinner and OMG it was awesome. It was better than our Just Oxtails.

Our favorite fried chicken and fried fish takeout place. Their sides are great, specifically the collard greens, the garlic noodles and the rice and beans. The mac-and-cheese is not bad either. I think their fried fish is even better than their fried chicken THIS PLACE IS NOW CLOSED. SO SO SAD :( Replaced by a Gumbo place.

I got a recommendation for this place from a colleague at UCSF who likes to eat here and then head over to Laughing Monk Brewery which is a 3 minute drive down the road. It was great! I would definitely come back again. The food is so fresh and delicious - some of the best chicken and waffles I’ve had on the west coast! The Mac and cheese was probably some of the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. And the service is really fast and friendly. I am so glad I got this recommendation!

Each order is fried to order… taking 20m for take out. Well worth the wait. The catfish as much as I never eat due to the bottom dweller taste, was very good without that fishy bottom taste. Chicken I am still a jolybee fan … sorry. Good quality, fried chicken gives me the bad feeling after, but not here. Even when it’s made from canola oil not like peanut oil in most southern fried places.

I love Frisco Fried Chicken! I love their side choices and my favorite is Mashed Potato and Gravy, greens and their delicious and tasty corn! I actually wish they had more throughout the city because I said so. It's easy to hop on the Muni T line or drive down Third Street. Update Review on Service. The service is not only slow but they are cooking your food and chicken fresh! However, I had to wait over 20 minutes when I called to order my food ahead of time so I thought. Only to get hung up on. Having to call back and be told to please wait and waited an additional 16 minutes and I hung up because I finally got to the location. They need to hire more folks to help as their food is good and do need to attend Customer Service School but DON’T call. Suck it up and wait or not come at all.

Chicken is definitely not like the previous owners theirs was something you would go out of your way for. Now its just ok little dry. The prices were definitely not what was listed on the menu online. I showed him and said your advertising prices but not honoring. The kid working could not make no attempt to accommodate, the owner not around the manager does not come in until Saturday. Probably wont go back or recommend to anyone. Hopefully this review will help them make better choices. When a person spends hard earned cash to treat themselves you expect it to be good.

Though there is little in the place for indoor dining; the food is really good. Tasty crispy chicken, great spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, garlic bread, etc. The food has homestyle taste. Perfect for any night you're too tired to cook dinner. This place has been around for a long time and though the owners have changed; they kept true to the original owner's recipes.

First time here , odered a 3 combo, Chicken 🐔 was delicious perfectly cooked and seasoned, Andy was very helpful taking my order . Looking forward to returning back.

The only fly in the ointment is that they recently started playing annoying pop music over their PA system, making it feel like Im at a Walmart instead of the best grocery store in the world. Please stop playing the corporate chain store music.

This cafe is a treasure. Breakfast till 11am!! Their breakfast burrito comes with hash browns inside. Hash. Browns. Inside. And it’s only $7. In case you’re still reading and not driving to this cafe, then grab your keys and go. They have açaí bowls, Mochi muffins and donuts from Third Culture and the staff and amazing.

This morning, I picked up 4 jars of coffee for a professional meeting. The order was supposed to be ready at 8:30 a.m., but it was actually ready at 8:45 a.m. I didn't mind the 15-minute delay, but the woman in charge of our order was extremely disrespectful and rude. One of the cardboard coffee boxes was covered with coffee, so I asked her to replace it. She reluctantly did so. Throughout the interaction, she never smiled or used polite phrases like "hi," "thank you," or "please." My colleague, who was with me, was so shocked by her behavior that she told the employee her attitude was disrespectful. The employee did not respond or apologize. She kept her hoodie on her head the entire time. This will be the last time I order from here.

I only come here during game off season to avoid the crowds, it’s relaxing to dine in. The burgers are not cheap, the Specials (dungarees crab burger $29.99) even more expensive. I wouldn’t spend more than $30 (included tax and tips) for a burger to be honest. I ordered hamburgers and fries. They were tasty and juicy. Friendly service. Good place for a quick bite.

Staff is nice. Food is good. Baja tacos are good & the California burger & onion rings. Love the soft serve ice cream, especially the chocolate. This location is exceptionally nice, spacious clean, they do need a little more attention to making sure table have been wiped down but overall clean. Lovely outdoor eating area, spacious indoor dining.

Located just outside of the Chase arena, this is the best place to enjoy a pre-game meal! I noticed that this location serves a better selection of items than other Gott’s locations. Last year, they offered a Dungeness crab sandwich, which was amazing! The Asian chicken salad was tasty and an excellent value(big portions). I enjoyed the mushroom burger, which had a spicy mayo sauce. The artichoke two ways was a great surprise: deep fried and grilled with aioli sauce. Their crispy garlic fries were delicious!

Good service & fast! While waiting for JJ's concert me & my friend decided to try this out! The burgers 🍔 was good! Pricey but good! Which is understandable because it's convenient & it's inside the chase center itself! Definitely will be supporting to try other menus!

Obsessed with the Ahi poke crispy tacos🌮🐟 it’s a delicious combination with a really good sauce and it comes with three in the order, which makes it really filling. Second, I always get the tenders and fries. The batter is crispy, but not too thick. I’ve been to this location at Warrior Way and the food comes out fast and there’s usually somewhere to sit even if it seems like there isn’t.

My partner and I came here for dinner before a concert at Chase Center. It was busy, as expected, but the staff worked efficiently to keep the line moving. The restaurant was packed - definitely a challenge to find seating. I wish restaurants would implement a rule where you couldn't sit at a table until you ordered at the cashier. I saw a lot of people saving seats while someone in their party waited in line at the register. I recommend ordering your food to go and eating it outside. Unfortunately, the food wasn't great. The patty was between medium rare and rare and the cheese was barely melted. I tried to stomach it and got about halfway through the burger before throwing it into the compost bin. The garlic fries were okay and the milk shake was semi-decent. Hoping it was just a fluke because I'd rather eat before an event at Chase than eat at the venue.

Seems kinda busy especially since there probably a long line and a lot of people inside. But the line moves quickly and you an just wait around anywhere since they have the pagers to call you when your order is ready. Their garlic fries were fire 🔥. Chicken tenders were good and normal but I would explore other options next time I come. The fish taco was pretty good - fish was crispy but maybe a bit dry/flaky but lots of sauce and vegetables. Overall really enjoyed the vibes here and the food. There is outdoor seating too. Probably hard to find free parking around here though.

Met the Chicken box At the SF Farmer's market. Love the crispy chicken breast .( bought x 2 pieces). especially Hala 🐔 more humane... saw them cook the meat, fresh, crispy, not oily at all, coating to meat just right, mouth feel perfect; moreover even 3 days later still holds true to the first day taste,

Wish I had pictures but I destroyed my food before I could even think! Lol. The chicken is so good! You can get it in salad form, fried, or in a sandwich! I usually get the sandwich and it’s bomb! A nice piece of chicken well seasoned and with a great crunch! It comes with a yummy sauce on a soft and slightly sweet bun. The tater salad and coleslaw also hit and make a great companion to the sandwich. Also gotta shout out the service! Always treated like family here. You can tell these folks love what they do, are excited about the food they serve and want the people they serve to feel at home. It always makes this tasty food taste even better. Grab a friend and go eat at Chicken Box now! And oh wait! I forgot about the mochi muffins! Don’t sleep on the mochi muffins my friends. My favorite is the Pandan. ✨✨😋

This review is 3 months late! Was here late March. Finally gave in and decided to try this place out. The chicken isn’t cheap here but.. the texture and flavors are amazing. The fried chicken is really crispy. I was hoping for some more meat but overall the crispy texture and the juicy meat are 5/5! The mochi muffin was okay. They were part of the combo. I guess I would’ve expected cornbread but those are usually choking hazard like 9/10 times. It’s located on Broadway St between Chinatown and North Beach. Welcome to the Red Light district yall! Come get your fried chicken 🐔!

I had the super fries small. They were super delicious. All the sauces on the fries made it to the deepest level of my taste buds. Totally worth it.

Got the chicken box with fries and the mochi muffin. Chicken is lightly fried, not really greasy so pretty good. Not a whole lot of seasoning. Props as they did give an extra piece of chicken. Seasoned fries are pretty mid. They have old bay on them and I'm wasn't a big fan of that. Lastly the mochi muffin. This was the redeeming piece of the chicken box. I wasn't sure what to expect but man was this good. Slightly sweet chewy corn bready consistency. Decent value as it was pretty filling but I was a bit disappointed. If I were to come back, I'd just come for the mochi muffin. Staff and store are pretty nice but it is takeout only. Ate my box at the bus stop across the street.

Bought an Ube mochi muffin ($2.50) from their stand at the north beach farmer's market. I wanted to love the muffin, but it was terribly dry and didn't taste like anything 😔 Needs more Ube added to the batter.

My experience with Thalia Aguilar has been incredibly positive, she’s someone who truly cares and goes the extra mile. During my move-in process, she was consistently responsive, and on top of every detail. Thanks to her and Oman Hollingsworth, the approval process came together smoothly and stress-free. However, I do want to mention a frustrating part of the process. I had called the leasing office to book a tour and was told everything was confirmed. But when I arrived, there was no one on-site to meet me. This wasn’t just a system error—I had spoken with someone directly, so I expected things to be in order. Since I don’t live nearby, it wasn’t easy for me to come back later, and the delay caused me to miss other scheduled plans. What truly impressed me, though, was Thalia’s response. Even though it was her day off, she showed up just to make sure I could still see the property. That kind of commitment is rare, and it really stood out. Thalia made up for what could have been a very disappointing experience. While the scheduling issue should definitely be addressed, I’m genuinely thankful for her professionalism and care.

Unfortunately, I have to leave a negative review for Telegraph Arts Apartments due to ongoing unresolved issues and a concerning lack of responsiveness from property management. The quality of living here has noticeably declined since first moving in, following staff changes. Management has become increasingly inconsistent and inaccessible, with frequent staff turnover and temporary personnel who are difficult to reach. There is no direct phone number for on-site staff--calls are routed to an offshore Greystar corporate line, which rarely results in timely or effective support. The building's maintenance, cleanliness, and overall care have suffered. For example, the elevator was broken for nearly two weeks without caution tape, warning signage, or formal notification to residents—an issue that posed both a safety risk and a major inconvenience. In addition, there was an incident where there was dog feces and large pee stains trailed across the carpeted hallways for days. Residents were forced to avoid the area entirely as it took management and maintenance to follow up days later. (I've included photos below of the pee stains as someone else already uploaded the feces picture before me). Most concerning, however, are the unresolved security issues. Recently, an unknown individual attempted to enter my apartment (and possibly others) around 2 AM on a weekend. I believe he may have been targeting vacant units. Despite emailing management twice--without receiving a response--and eventually confronting staff in person, I received nothing more than an apology. There was no formal follow-up, no increased security presence, and no communication to alert other residents of the potential threat. Alarming behavior like this should never be dismissed. Given the lack of safety, accountability, and basic communication, I cannot recommend living at Telegraph Arts Apartments--especially if security and consistent management are important to you.

I moved to Telegraph Art in September 2019. I lived in apartment 419 for 3 years. Everything was EXCELLENT. But I decided to move to a different apartment in the same building.. I needed something a bit bigger due to the type of work I do. Mahogany started the process very smoothly for me. She guided me throughout the whole application process. She’s professional and knowledgeable. Sanjeeta Lal, the building manager, without wasting any time, approved my application and put me in my new apartment. The process was super smooth. Some things I love about this building/Management. The management is on time with a request. Frequent maintenance/cleaning. They have a cleaner(s) coming in like every other day to make sure every floor is clean and clear. Each floor looks like a 5 star hotel floor. This is what I’ve heard from several friends that had visited. The rooftop is amazing and has an amazing view. You can see almost the whole Oakland and Bay Bridge in 360 degrees. On 4th of July, just go to the rooftop and you can see the fireworks around the Bay Area. There is a nice and well maintained Gym which I use EVERYDAY. Last year 2022, out of 365 days, I went to the gym over 200 days. I love the guy. Hey, it's in the building. All you need is some discipline to get up and go work out. The Amenity Room /conference / mini lounge. This is where you can either do your work (use it as a remote office). Has WIFI and it’s FREE. It has been very useful for me since I started working. The room's ambience is very sophisticated. Besides, you can entertain your guests. It has big screen TVs and very comfortable and sexy looking couches. Thanks to Sanjeeta, Mahogany, and Hassan for making my moving smooth.

Management was great. Thalia was super helpful and was able to help me find somthing within my budget super fast and easy. The complex and units are also really nice.

She was incredibly helpful, patient, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was taken care of quickly and efficiently. What stood out the most was how Thalia, along with Oman Hollingsworth, handled my approval process and made sure everything was in order for a smooth move-in. Their attention to detail and prompt communication made the entire experience much less stressful. I truly appreciate all their hard work and dedication to making this transition so easy. Highly recommend, if you're looking for a community that is genuinely committed to providing outstanding service.

I love my building and my management. I recently moved into the Telegraph Arts building and I think the apartments and facilities are very well clean kept. Ausun the building supervisor is so kind and professional. He really treats you with the highest level of care and service any time you interact with him. Sophie our property manager is such a joy, shes super responsive, professional, and she also takes pride in her work. Jennifer showed us our apartment and tour and is really pleasant as well! I appreciate this building, I feel safe in the building, and well taken care of. This is a great community to live in and I would recommend! Thank you Telegraph Arts for our experience in Oakland!

Apparently, I just found out they don’t carry crispy crunch chicken no more they sell hibachi chicken. They need to take that sign down is false advertisement a little bit upset right now. I wasted 12 minutes looking for crispy crunch chicken over here by the IRS. I am very upset about this. WeAre was the owner to check them sign down.

Got the 8 pieces of dark meat, and it was surprisingly really good with crispy batter and a little spicy kick. It's even good the day after, reheated in the microwave. Definitely coming back here when I have that fried chicken craving.

Chicken is pretty good but the quality and packaging varies a lot. The macaroni had blackened noodles in it! I had to throw it out. The chicken tenders had completely different textures the 2x I ordered them. They're open late for late night cravings but kind of a hit or miss.

Two fried breast pieces and regular French fries. Chicken was tough and chewy, not much flavor. Put hot sauce on it, sauce was anything but hot. French fries tasted really greasy from being cooked in oil that is past it's prime. Would not eat here again. I do not recommend this business

Don't taste like it did when it first opened in this location. It seems to me that the chicken is being cooked way to fast whoever is doing the cooking needs to take their time and fry that chicken properly. Chicken tenders shouldn't be stringy

I passed by this location in downtown Oakland and I gave it a try, oh my god. They have a Philly stick sandwich that I’ve never tasted anywhere before. Also, their kraspy chicken is fresh and inexpensive.
