Enjoyable lunch on a Monday so it was not busy at all. Had the pickle and mustard chicken burger which was great, greasy and tasty. Prices are average, service was good and it’s generally a nice place. Note it’s just chicken here, no beef burgers. Tough competition for burgers in the immediate travel, overall I recommend a visit here.

Located in a convenient location, FAT houses all your fried food classics with a somewhat Southern American twang (yeehaw). Nothing overtly revolutionary about the menu or the products, but hits right if you’re craving something fatty. The chips are bit on the average side, the chicken is better than KFC. The restaurant itself is dimly lit.

The food at Fried and Tasty (F.A.T.) is simply superb. Chicken galore in every different style is on the menu. I opted for the Waffles and a side of Fries and they were spectacular.

The fries comed with different combinations mine is with mayo and chili’s on the top. F.A.T was one of the first American-style fried chicken specialists in Melbourne and still one of the better ones I’ve tried. The Chicken Cheese burger always hit well — chicken was juicy and not dry, though sometimes the crispiness wasn’t consistent. Still, the portions were huge compared to most places. The tenders/chicken bites were okay — a bit on the dry side, but would’ve been much better with a dipping sauce. The gravy chips were elite though — proper comfort food, almost poutine-level, and paired perfectly with the fried chicken.

Delicious Chicken and Waffles. Travelled from the south east up to Brunswick because it has been recommended and definitely worth the trip. Big servicing sizes and good quality chicken with fresh waffles.

The chicken is crunchy, juicy and flavourful. I’ve had both the original and the spicy and WOW. Don’t let the original fool you. It packs massive mouthfuls of flavour, from the breading to the juices it’s exactly what you’d want in a fried chicken. The sauce is amazing, tangy with a bit of sweetness, pairs perfectly with chicken and chips alike. Music choice inside is very on brand, though the high ceilings and concrete aesthetic make it quite loud even when half the tables are full. Be advised these are American sized portions! Definitely would recommend this gem!

Such a beautiful cafe in Church St Richmond, great location, with a cool vibe. It’s quite a big cafe with lots of indoor & outdoor seating, the service was good, however the space being so big was very noisy. The coffee was perfect & our meals I also couldn’t fault, poached eggs perfectly cooked & my mushroom dish was deliciously packed with flavour & texture, as was my husband’s salmon / gnocchi dish ~ highly recommend both dishes. My only complaint, there was a terrible sewer smell lurking in the cafe & the bathrooms could do with a good clean around the vanity area, the mould build up was gross 🤢 as was the non working gurgling toilet. Also, the beautiful peace lily plants are in desperate need of a drink 🪴 🚿 😔 Apart from those minor hiccups, definitely worth the visit - hopefully the mould is gone next time we visit 😊 I took one star off purely for the bathrooms hygiene.

Had a lovely brunch at Top Paddock with my loved one. It was such a warm and vibrant spot! The Rhubarb & Custard French toast was the star of the morning. It just melts in your mouth, perfectly soft with a beautifully balanced sweetness and a nice crunch from the toppings. Absolutely worth recommending! The greens with poached egg and croutons were fresh & light . A great way to balance the meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys quality brunch, cozy vibes, and food that’s plated as beautifully as it tastes. ☕🍞🥗✨

My hubby really enjoyed his breakfast here. He thought the eggs were cooked perfectly. My strawberry matcha was beautifully presented and delicious. We would def go back to try some other dishes. The service was fast and professional and friendly. Highly recommend

Eggs benny is my personal favourite. Great coffee. Awesome looking place. Can get busy so I recommend booking. Nice outdoor area too if you don't like a lot of inside noise.

For a very long time I wanted to visit this place ! I had high hopes for this café after seeing all the glowing reviews, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The place has a nice atmosphere and looks inviting from the outside, but the service and food left a lot to be desired. We waited quite a while to be acknowledged, even though the café wasn’t particularly busy. When our order finally arrived, it was either missing small details or lacked the freshness and flavour I expected from such a highly rated spot. The staff didn’t seem very attentive or engaged, which added to the underwhelming experience. We ordered Chilli scramble and French toast !! Chilli scramble no flavour at all so as the French toast look like anything but French toast or atlas the French toast I know !! Coffe ok but on warm side !!! It’s possible I caught them on an off day, and I can see why people enjoy the setting, but for me, the food and service just didn’t meet the expectations set by the reviews. Hopefully, it was just a one-off. Another visit to make a final decision!!

This used to be one of my favorite spots every time I visited Melbourne. It was a small shop tucked away in an alley, but the food was always so good that I would recommend it to friends visiting the city. On this recent visit, the shop had become bigger and the atmosphere nicer, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t quite live up to what I remembered. Maybe my expectations were high because of the great memories I had, so I felt a bit disappointed. I'm not sure if I’ll return, but the staff were still as kind and friendly as ever, which I truly appreciated.

Absolutely delicious. We had the Salmon and the complete, beautiful clean flavours. Also the flat white was made beautifully. The staff were very lovely and fast! We sat outside and the light breeze and calm vibes created a beautiful breakfast experience. 10/10

Rolue Galette is a must-try for crepe lovers! I had one sweet and one savory crepe, and both were absolutely delicious. The food and service are excellent, and everything tastes freshly made. A lovely little spot that brings a real taste of France — highly recommended!

Roule Galette is a small and cozy place with authentic Breton food – the flavors were really good. However, my experience was spoiled by a big disappointment. I ordered a galette with Norman Camembert and asked to add ham. My request was forgotten, and when I reminded the staff, they simply brought three slices of ham on a separate plate, not even warmed or grilled. On top of that, we were three people and were seated at a tiny table meant for two – it was really uncomfortable. Even worse, my friend ordered a galette with shellfish and found pieces of shell in the filling, nearly breaking a tooth. A complete fiasco!

The food was great, but such a long wait for food. I recommend coming here only if you have plenty of time. The Dubai chocolate crepes were nice but overpriced. Everything else was delicious

Looking for something different than the usual avo smash I chose this small cafe for breakfast. I’d had Galette in Braidwood previously where it is magnificent. I ordered the Cheri Galette with tomato egg and rocket and decided to try the homemade tomato sauce for an extra $3.80 Unfortunately the meal was a little underwhelming. The tomato sauce was a very small squeeze under the edge of the galette where in my mind I thought it might be a rich sweet dollop of relish or something. Definitely not worth the extra $3.80 as it is tasteless. The rocket was also pretty lifeless and perhaps looking a bit old. The coffee was good.

Went with my daughter and the staff were really accommodating and friendly. Thank you, she had a great time and really enjoyed the strawberry crepe! Would come again.

Tried Archie’s All Day – the Huevos Sucios(Dirty eggs) were just okay, could have used a bit more spice and punch.The Godmother was tasty, but felt like it was missing a little something. Coffee was average, even with an extra shot. Overall, decent but not particularly impressive.

Highly recommend this venue for a group catch up. Came here with some friends and family and everyone enjoyed their meals (the chicken waffles were amazing!). Coffee was great too. Recommend booking as it's super popular. We sat outside where there was heating too.

This place usually has a queue for a table ~10 minutes. There’s a choice of frontstore, indoor and courtyard seating. There’s frontstore has no heating so be weary during the colder that it will get frosty. Decent variety of options. The non-caffeine options on the menu is bit limited if wanting freshly made products. The hotcakes were alright. Our host wore sunglasses which was an interesting vibe when working.

Not my first time at Archie but the latest dish I had, which was the mushroom on toast something got me sick in the tummy 🥲 me and my friend shared the KFC burger and the mushroom toast but I got uncomfy stomach after that (my friend hasn’t finished the other half of his toast so now he’s still fine)🥹. Regarding the flavor, everything was on point to be honest, love the spices and everything but I might not try that toast again even though I love the taste! 😭

really impressed with this cafe on gertrude st! archie's has been on my list forever and i finally decided to pop down. usually there is a long line but i went on a weekday morning and it was relatively quiet, no need to wait for a table. service was great and they give you blankets if you sit outside on a cold day. the menu is really varied - they have brunch classics but also some more interesting elevated dishes. my coffee was delicious, but i do wish they did a matcha! there were a few vegan options to choose from, i went with the shakshuka which was incredible and very filling. i also appreciate that they substitute in a vegan feta rather than just removing everything to make it vegan. definitely adding to my rotation of great cafes in melbourne.

It’s good but I would rate other places in the area better! Got a seasonal veggie salad with a poached egg 7/10 just beware the chai is just tea with water and very floral and sweet! Coffee is good

Best crepes in Melbourne. Super convenient location for a sneaky crepe on the way home from work. I'm simple and enjoy a basic butter and sugar crepe, but the variety is quite vast. Lots of options for getting a crepe your way, with the extras that appeal to you. Just be careful as they are quite hot right off the hot plate!

It’s a roadside tiny creperie. The vibe is immaculate. And they had quite a few sweet and savoury crepe options. I went with apricot jam with fresh lemon juice and it was nice. Sweet yet tart.

The only street food in the area so worth a try if in the CBD. Tasted way better than I expected, card payment has surchage. Recommended

Tried the tiramisu, dark chocolate, white chocolate strawberries pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and tasty, and the white chocolate strawberries are always a favorite—sweet and smooth. The dark chocolate wasn’t as rich as expected and had a faint eggy smell that threw off the flavor a bit. Some hits, some misses—but still a great spot for a sweet treat.

I visited the store tonight (28/09) with a friend. Initially, we ordered the Tiramisu one, not realizing that it didn't have the halal label on the menu. Once it came out and was served, the staff kindly confirmed with us that it was in fact, the literal only pancake that was not halal. She very nicely told us we can switch the menu to another one that's halal-friendly or ask for a refund. We chose to change our order to a vanilla brulee. It was splendid! The souffle pancake was incredibly soft, and it wasn't too sweet. We were touched by the staff's consideration about the halal menu (for context, we're hijabis), she went out of her way to help us out. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for her name. Our biggest gratitude to her. Would definitely come back for the pancake, the vibes and warm service.

Adozen Adozen is a must for soufflé pancake lovers! The pancakes are insanely fluffy, and the white chocolate strawberries are a total game changer. The matcha cheesecake is the perfect treat to pair with it. Amazing vibes and even better food, I definitely recommend!

Visited after dinner during my trip in Melbourne. Good smell around the cafe. Ordered original pancake as prefer to taste the basic menu first and did not disappoint at all. Pancake served in good portion, right taste (not too sweet or too buttery). Not too long wait as staff mentioned. Great service mind staff and ambient. This was my first time trying Adozen Adozen and I was genuinely blown away by how delicious everything was! The souffle pancakes were so light and fluffy - like little sweet clouds! We tried the tiramisu and dubai chocolate and they were both delicious. I also really loved the basque cheesecake, it was so creamy!!! This is the perfect sweet treat any time of the day

First of all, I'd like to thank the staff for their warm welcome and excellent service. I was excited to find halal Nashville chicken in Melbourne. However, the experience fell a bit short of my expectations—but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the food. I tried the tenders with Traveller Spice (mild). The flavour was decent, but the breading could be crispier. I’d rate it 6/10. I also recommend getting ranch sauce on the side for dipping. I wouldn’t recommend the coleslaw, as it wasn’t to my taste. I prefer a sweeter version, whereas this one was quite the opposite. Rating: 2/10. The buffalo burger was the highlight of the night—the sauce, cheese, and overall flavour were deliciously messy. Rating: 8/10. Overall, the experience wasn’t bad, just not quite what I expected. However, I’d love to visit again and try different menu items. Second visit on 12th of Feb 25, got all good stuff deal $60 for two, the amount is good but I believe the breading could be better. The service was slower this time than the first visit.

My friends and I came here for the first time, and the staff were super friendly and provided great service. We ordered the Belles Bucket with the Traveller flavor — it had a nice, balanced taste, not too spicy, and gave off a real American-style fried chicken vibe. I really liked the pickles on the side — they went perfectly to cut through the richness. The side dishes like salad, fries, mashed potatoes and corn cheese were the best! My girlfriend struggled to pick a place to eat at for atleast an hour, my lord am i glad it landed at Belles. As soon as i walked into the establishment i was amazed by the decor and music. Really felt like i was taken to a totally different timezone, it was amazing and really felt unique, absolutely nailed it. The food we got was great aswell, the chicken was done great and was delicious especially with the sauce. Staff were really fast and didnt have to wait at all pretty much. I cannot suggest this place enough, just do yourself a damn favour and go to Belles. PS can you send me merch?

We came here for a date night and it was so good we brought our friends back a few weeks later! The chicken is amazing (the nashville tenders are the best) and we LOVED the mac n cheese. The interior is really cool too and gives an American diner style of eating. Definitely will be coming back again. :)

Vibes are immaculate. Food was delicious. I love that they have a small menu because you don’t have to waste time trying to decide what to get. Went in with my mum & sister & we all walked out happy. Burgers were 10/10!!!! Best burgers I’ve had in a long while. But, the wings that we ordered in the spice level which was the 3rd option (can’t remember which one) felt very unseasoned. It didn’t taste like anything at all, and that was a bit disappointing. The fries, however, were so good! Crinkle cut, crispy, soft all at the same time. Loved them. Waiting time was about 7 minutes. And nobody even looked our way at the waiting area the whole time. Would have appreciated a bit of acknowledgement, but considering the fact that only one attendant was rushing to and from tables, it was understandable i guess. I’d definitely go again for the fries and burgers!

Nice and quaint little Cafe. The souffle are very light & fluffy, and very easy to eat. The strawberry one was good, but would try the matcha one next time. Staff are friendly and attentive and the environment is very relaxed. A great place to relax while in town. Prices are reasonable, $18.50 for souffle. Would happily visit again.

The pancakes were unbelievably delicious - so light and fluffy! The toppings worked so well too. Reasonably priced, plenty of coeliac safe gluten free options. Highly recommend.

A cafe that specialises in Japanese souffle pancakes and house by drinks. Their menu offers several different flavours of pancakes, and I tried the plain flavour and homemade fizzy. The pancake was one of the lightest I've had before, and had a strong egg white flavour. It melted in your mouth very quickly. The environment also felt quite relaxing and was clean. Worth a try if you would like a light and tasty dessert 👌👍

Absolutely heavenly soufflé pancakes. My partner and I stopped in here for a late brekky while holidaying in Melbourne. We ordered the raspberry pancakes and the truffle cream pancakes. My partner has a sweet tooth, so for him the raspberry pancakes were incredible. I love a good sweet & salty combo, so for me the truffle cream pancakes were perfect. Drinks were also great! The only thing I will say is that for soufflé pancakes they were a little small in my opinion, but the taste makes up for this factor

So when I found out this place made gluten free japanese soufle pancakes I immediately made my roommate drop everything and go with me to find it. When we got there we found a very small shop, with a pretty limited menu. But all but two items were safe for me to eat. And that is a pretty good ration in my eyes. You can order online from your table, go up to the counter or even order to take away. But it was an easy process and a short wait. We had some of their mixed drinks. The peppermint and lime, and the orange and lemon and shared one of their signature pancakes. But damn diddly if that food wasn't magical. Finding places that make safe pancakes is rare. But these were so very soft and fluffy with a sweet buttery topping and a splash of maple syrup. I will definitely be going back before I head home to perth. I need to try the rest of their menu.... for science....XD

Lovely place, had a good time sitting there during a rainy morning. Unfortunately the pancakes are made from frozen dough (the plastic package of a portion has been ripped open in front of me), so they are running inside. Huge disappointment. Delicious strawberry match latte, though. But that's not what I came for. 🙃 On top of all, for 30 minutes nobody collected the empty plate from my table. So won't hurt you to hang out there for a chat over a beverage, but don't expect too much.

The Hardware Societe is simply on a different level when it comes to brunch and coffee. You’ll simply get the best brunch and coffee in Australia. Walk right in or take away if there’s a queue. I’ve tried a wide range of brunch dishes at their ‘Hardware lane’ cafe and decided to try this location as well. The level was high as usual and coffee (beans from Brazil) was surprisingly divine. I had to take away as it was packed and there was a long waiting list. However, my Benedict was still great. Creamy and nice texture overall. It was cooked and prepared to perfection. The service was equally good and for these reasons I give this cafe the rare 5 stars

This is a solid spot in a good location. The space feels comfortable and open. The staff member who greeted and sat us was very friendly. The server who took and delivered our order was fine. The food is on the pricier side, but it's tasty and unique. It's well presented and both our meals were cooked perfectly, if not quite filling enough. The menu is interesting and we are keen to try more items. The iced tea was great and the coffee was good. Just some feedback for the restaurant: if you seat people at the table behind the curtain separating it from the cashier, maybe be mindful about chucking the cutlery into the bin. There's a seat literally right there and it's a pretty unpleasant sound directly into the ear. Maybe just gently place it in, or move the bin?

In a small lane, not far from Southern Cross, morning commuters stop in for coffees. A vibrant atmosphere and a pleasant waitress welcome us to a table. The coffee mugs are cute, a perfect Magic and Oat Matcha latte picks up our day. There are NO traditional eggs on toast. I have a baked egg Deux with baguette, awesome. Scrambled tofu with smoked eggplant, tastes good with blended flavours. Good choice for breakfast.

A group of people I know were in town from Singapore and I wanted to put the best Food forward for them over brunch and where better to go than Hardware Société. We ended up at the cafe on beautiful ANZAC Day. The host was seamless and moved like a dancer very courteous and very fast. We sat and the server was with us to take coffee orders immediately. 2 Flat Latte, Cappuccino and a beautifully crafted Hot Chocolate were with us in 7 mins. (Yes i timed it) We ordered a couple of sweet and savoury options and all came out great. The texture in Crepes along with sweetness was perfect and to die for. I would say they were the best out of all 3 we ordered. Baked Eggs with Deux were perfectly cooked eggs at the bottom and sizzling Tomato sauce on the top. It was simply magnificent. Mushroom on toast with french onion creme was light soft and the right amount of salty. Tasted beautiful. We ended with another round of coffee drinks. The only reason service gets a 4 star is because we had to call a couple of times for the second round of coffee orders before someone was available. Unfortunately i think it was due to them being busy on ANZAC day and seemed short staffed too. Otherwise the experience was great for both me as a local and for the visitors too. Head to the Grain Store for a not-so-usual breakfast. An Asian twist on some of the menu items is a welcome change to the standard egg offering. If anything, they can probably afford to take one thing off the plate for the more elaborate dishes. Coffee is reliably good and the cafe has a lovely, warm casual feel. Get the side of mushrooms because they’re magically moreish.

The foods are delicious! The portion is normal size. I love the spices in the scramble eggs and the curry leaf adds so much flavor to it. The place is very crowded, would recommend making reservations. Perhaps the store is used to high volume turnover, even during less peak hours, the waitresses are cleaning the plates and cups super quick. It is definitely a cafe that just in and out quick.

The cafe had a warm and modern interior, but surprisingly, the atmosphere felt a bit chilly. We walked in hoping for a simple breakfast—just coffee and a Danish. However, when we placed our modest order, a staff member directed us to a separate table, away from the more comfortable seating inside. It seemed those inner tables were reserved for customers ordering a full breakfast. While the coffee was warm and flavorful, the staff’s attitude remained cold throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the unwelcoming service overshadowed the pleasant aesthetics and decent coffee.

Was a great spot to have a nice overpriced breakfast. We had to wait outside in the cold for some reason, but we were seated fast and the service was nice. Waiters filled our waters timely. There was an angry Asian man at the bar and he was funny to observe. Do not get the warm matcha latte. It was not tasty at all.

My friend and I ate here about 10 years ago on a girls trip to Melbourne and we found ourselves back here again with our husbands and had to see if it was as good as we remembered it. And it was!! Everything was so tasty, my husband said it the best porridge he’s ever had and I’m still dreaming about the chilli prawn scrambled eggs. The customer service was amazing too. Very friendly staff, especially the owner! She was great. The attention to detail is bang on including always making sure our water was topped up. Hopefully won’t be 10 years until we’re back again!

The food looked nice but didn’t really wow us. It was hit and miss. Some of the staff were very friendly and attentive but the lady at the front was a bit rude. I recommend to book a table before coming here to avoid waiting.

Grain store is a lovely warm place with comfortable seating. The coffee was perfect. I had the Miso and honey glazed salmon. While the portion size was actually large and I was completely full, as the title dish was salmon I did expect a bigger piece of salmon and only one poached egg but it was 2 poached eggs and smaller piece of salmon. In saying that it was super filling and balanced and those eggs were delicious. So I preferred it this way, it was just different to what I expected. Service was great.

5 star for "Street Food" eats. (The tables are literally set up on the street.) Popular place with fabulous vibe. We were here on a busy Sunday (+15% surcharge). Joseph (front of house) and the team provided exceptional attentive and friendly service. Prompt seating and order taking... Bit of a delay on the delivery, but this gives more time to soak up the atmosphere. Well worth it. Some nice twists on favourite dishes. Seating indoor - or - out on the street.

I really love this place! Its down a nice alley way surronded with other nice cafes! We sat outside and it was nice! Quiet busy outside. The food was so good! I ordered the seafood linguine and it was amazing! My partner loved her meal as well! Tiramisu was fantastic as well! The staff are very polite and friendly! Prices are average for the city! Definately will be back!

Was wandering the city today and got a bit peckish. This place looked promising. Great street vibe and good service. A wide selection of food, most of which looked great. The expresso was up to standard. Sadly the pizza was a bit ordinary, biscuit like dough and way too much cheese I'm sure this would suit some but wasn't an Italian pizza by any means. Having said that, a reasonable place to soak up the Melbourne street eats vibe

I used to visit place quite a lot during COVID for coffee and cake but this is the first time I've eaten here in person, to start the service is top notch from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave! Very good old school hospo service from the FOH staff! Love to see it! Also the coffee is great! I have to be honest tho, The food was underwhelming... I had an omelette and unfortunately it came out overcooked. I'm willing to give it another shot as everything else was top notch! But I hope the cooks can take this on board. As such a big Melbourne institution I would love for the food to match the top service! Cheers

I had a unique experience with the menu, but I enjoyed it! The atmosphere is charming, and the service is super friendly. I felt rushed, which I think is part of the Australian way of doing things that we should respect. The coffee really packs a punch—so good! The space is quite ample, though it’s not your typical setup. Overall, I really liked it! The prices are reasonable, and it's in a great central location in Midtown.

To be honest, I am stuck between a 4 stars or 5 stars for food because the barramundi was good! But the ricotta hot cake is too overwhelming for 1 pax. It’s starts off with really nice. After finishing half the cake, it becomes a chore; so tiring to eat it. Barramundi is nice, fresh and the sauce complements it well. Balance taste! Environment is nice and chill. Great place for groups catch up. Staff are fast and efficient, friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this place. Love to try other menu item next time!

Finally we had the chance to visit the legendary Higher Ground. The place is considerably big and managing such a big venue which is fully booked is not an easy task, hats off to their great shop staff. Menu wise, great selection of elevated dishes and innovative drinks. This is definitely not an ordinary place so don't expect a light bill, our breakfast for two easily surpassed 200$ but no complaints 😉

This iconic OG brunch spot, housed in a former power station, exhibits a great industrial vibe with its high ceilings. While it can get crowded on weekends, making reservations is recommended. We tried a few dishes and found the food to be good.

If you’re craving a unique interior paired with exceptional service and outstanding food, Higher Ground cafe is the place to go. Designers transformed an old power station into a modern, subtly elegant space. The chefs match this vibe, crafting incredibly delicious and refined dishes. I was kinda thrown by the Udon Carbonara, loaded with spices and seeds—was this really my order? Yup, and it was ridiculously good! Even the long black (seriously high-quality) came with a Turkish twist—a side of sparkling water. Prices? Pretty fair for a place this awesome.

We stopped by Higher Ground late in the afternoon since they open a bit later than other cafes in Melbourne, 5 pm. We came based on a strong recommendation from a friend of my brother, who said this is her favorite spot in Melbourne. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the service was attentive and friendly. The drinks were solid — I had a hot chocolate, and the two others ordered flat whites. They also tried desserts: one was a caramelized item and the other a red velvet cake. While I’m not a big fan of sweets, I sampled a little and found it quite enjoyable. Overall, Higher Ground offers a nice experience with interesting decor and good quality offerings. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Fantastic, high quality food. Plenty of gluten free options, it is expensive but the standard of the food is spot on. Could have done with some carbs with the fish, as I still felt a little hungry afterwards. Pleasant staff. Recommend.

Tried their eggs Benedict and it was absolutely delicious! Eggs poached well and hollandaise light and creamy. The mocha was nice too though could've been warmer. As a customer since 2007, there have been many changes, but the most important thing that should not be changed is the quality of food and drink. For this Melbourne trip (September 2025), I give 2/10 for food and coffee. I hope this cafe will be back to its top form again.

I often come here for lunch and they always welcome me in such a lovely and special way! The pasta is absolutely delicious❤️ My favorite is the Chilli Prawn. I usually get it with either olive oil or tomato base, and the prawns are always so fresh. The balance between the sauce and pasta is just perfect, and they even give you Parmesan cheese if you ask. I also love their coffee honestly, the best coffee in Melbourne! ☕💛

Food and service first class. Water brought straight away without asking and drinks orders taken first. Bacon Benny certainly hit the spot and the toast so light and fluffy - yum

Yummy breakfast! We ordered 1. Salmon Congee - hearty warm bowl of porridge to warm the tummy in the morning 2. Singapore chili crab omelette with enough sauce so it doesn't overpower the whole experience (a tad heavy on ginger tho)..oh we swapped the white bread to sourdough bread (personal preference)

It was a chilly morning when we came and waited around 5-10mins for a table. It was a decent wait for a brunch time. The staff are lovely and really nice! We ordered the Beef Benedict, French Toast, Prawn Burger, and the Chicken Rice. For the drinks we ordered the Ube Matcha and Flat White. Beef Benedict - it was on a sweeter side on our taste but it was good. French toast - a decent french toast! Prawn burger - 9/10! We really enjoyed it and it was very flavourful. Chicken Rice - it was just okay. We had a good Hainanese rice in other places so we had high expectations. Ube Matcha - nice flavoured matcha 👍🏻 Overall, it was a nice experience for us and enjoyed our meal! Will be back to try other dishes ☺️

Wanted to love this place but found the dishes to be a bit sweet overall, and the flavours were not as punchy as I was hoping for either. However the service was really great, and obviously it was a very popular cafe as there was a long wait for a table. Maybe it was just not my cup of tea!

Located in an old telephone exchange building. The cafe has an Asian influenced menu, which challenges the traditional brunch options. My UBE Waffle was presented flawlessly ensconced in purple flavour. The fried Crab meat was tender, blended well with Singapore chilli sauce, tasting nice with omelette. The seating was a little crowded, usually sharing a table with others.

I came here with my friend last month and really enjoyed the food! The staff were friendly and provided great service. There aren’t many private tables, so you might need to share a table with others if you don’t want to wait too long. Overall, I had a great experience and was really impressed!

Definitely one of the best brunch spots in Melbourne CBD. I recommend the Singapore Chilli Crab Omelette. Coffee is always great. Will be back for more!

Visited Pancake Parlour recently and had a mixed experience. The food was okay — nothing mind-blowing but it did the job. The staff were helpful when approached, though they weren’t very communicative or proactive, which made things a bit awkward at times. One of the bigger issues was the ordering process through the app. It wasn’t very user-friendly, and it was easy to overlook the winter menu discount, which was disappointing. A bit more clarity or guidance would’ve helped. On the positive side, the atmosphere was lively and upbeat, which made the overall vibe enjoyable. It's a decent spot for a casual outing, but a few improvements — especially with the mobile ordering system — would go a long way.

Stopped by at tea time. The restaurant was quite spacious and empty, staff were extremely helpful and kind. Normally ordering by QR code, but staff were happy to order for you. For pancakes, they allowed a wide variety of personalised options, for example protein pancake, gluten free pancakes; toppings ranging from ice cream, vegan ice cream, cream… Ordered a mini fresh strawberry pancake and Hot Long Black Large. The mini fresh strawberry pancakes came with fresh strawberries, two mini-size pancakes and vanilla ice cream, decorated with strawberry sauce. The pancakes were soft and slightly chewy in texture, but the sides were nearly burnt that formed a piece of ‘skin’ literally. The fruits were fresh. The vanilla ice cream was just sweet. Long black was smooth to drink, but no special coffee base could be tasted. Neither nutty or fruity side. Total $21.4. Table and seats were comfortable for log. chat with families and friends.

Most amazing low gluten / gluten free pancakes I’ve had in a very long time! Even had its own menu so no confusion on what I could and couldn’t eat. Staff were so lovely and service was quick. Also had freshly brewed tea that came with a strainer and was super authentic and overall a 10/10 experience. If in Melbourne I really recommend coming here for a breakfast plus it’s in a shopping centre so the day only just begins!!

Had a big craving for pancakes but also savoury so I got myself bacon and eggs dish that came with a short stack. I really wanted additional walnuts, which aren't available anymore, sadly. But Deb was a lovely waiter that was patient with my fumbling for my order an suggested crushed pistachios, they were very tasty on my pancakes. Forever love pancake parlor, ever since I was a kid.

I loved the Mexican crepes combo (one crepe was chicken, while the other was beef) and the pancakes. The Mexican crepes were full of flavour, while the pancakes were fluffy and sweet. The atmosphere was also nice, as the seats were comfortable and the restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing - it gives off a nature/earthy appearance.

Amazing food and even better service! Got the big country breakfast with one of the chicken crepes. We also got one sweet crepe. The staff was amazing, very friendly and have excellent customer service skills. I accidentally forgot to tell them to get the sweet crepe later after the mains but then later on, once it came, I asked if they could put it in the fridge for a bit to slow down the ice cream from melting however, they just offered to make a new one once I was ready. Truly exceptional way to treat your customers. All the food was amazing, especially the sweet treats here, never fail to hit. To top it all off, I just did the spin and the wheel on their app while waiting for my food and got 50% off my total bill, incredible!

Keep eyes open when paying your bill! We had a lovely day and decided to go for snack in the late afternoon. Service was very good and guy was friendly. Five stars to him. Atmosphere was buzzing as it was busy time during Australia open. But when I went to pay the bill by cash and asked for discrepancy, I have been told they have surcharges on weekend!!!??? Even so, you would expect 10% but not 15% or 20% surcharge. Are we in America!? Not happy and don't think we shall return there.

This is an older style cafe that occupies a prime corner position on bustling Degraves St. It has friendly spruikers outside which I found kind of cute and not at all annoying. I found myself immediately liking the place. It’s small but you don’t feel cramped in the slightest. It’s a little noisy but nice noisy not annoying noisy. It’s old style for sure. Maybe 80s or early 90s but again it all sort of fits together nicely somehow. To complete the picture, they were playing endearingly daggy music on the stereo today. Retro plus. No hip hop on here. I think I heard showtunes at one point. I started with a long black which was quite good, certainly better than I’d anticipated. It was slightly bitter, but certainly rich, dark and substantive. I liked it. I hadn’t planned on eating but I liked the sound of the soup of the day, a minestrone, and quickly changed my mind. Again, against all expectations I found this was an absolutely delicious minestrone. It was a generous serve and very very tasty. It had heaps of flavour and plenty of veggies. The melted parmesan also added to my overall delight. The dish also came with a very generous serve of Turkish bread too. It was a terrific little meal. I think I’d rank it as the best minestrone I’ve since I used to get them from Maria’s in North Melbourne many years ago. This was a lovely fun little stop. I had my doubts about the current 3.9 Zomato rating but the doubts were quickly dispelled. Recommended.

Expensive price for mediocre food. I got 2 slices of french toast (inc. banana and bacon) for $17.50. And my friend got Eggs Benedict for $19. Both were mediocre. Filling but due to quantity not quality. The chai was $5 and ok. Very thick and creamy. It's a little hyped I think because of its location. Service was good (ish). Super accomodating when we wanted to move inside away from the smoker on the table next to us. But when paying the waitress kept asking for 80c 4 times even though we told her over and over we only had a $50 and she acted like it was a whole issue.

Although this bar is placed in the fantastic location, we did not enjoy the bar. Food was too expensive for the quality they offered. I ordered a salad, where I unfortunatelly found many little bugs on the green leaves. This does not make me feel well, when I have to watch the wild life of insect right in my plate. Location was great, but the bar is maybe better just for sitting, drinking a coffee and enjoying the Melbourne athmosphere 🙂.

What! AUD 21.5 for 2 thin pieces of pancakes with few chunks of bananas. The pancakes were dried and hard. The taste had nothing extraordinary. Too much overpriced. The pumpkin soup charged $12. As much as price is concerned, it's ok but the taste wasn't appealing. The consistency was just thick as against 'creamy' as written on the menu. Very disappointing.

Good find on a cold night, not only outdoor tables but the inside seating was warm and cosy. No loud music as other reviewers described. We ordered the Paella and chicken risotto and were pleased with the food. The steaks in the next table were full and thick - for next time :) staff were pleasant and service was prompt. The menu was global indeed with good selection of food and drink.

I love Issus cafe for multiple reasons and I am a regular here. If I could go everyday I would. I always recommend this place to friends. The staff are amazing (they are always smiling and welcoming). I’ve never been disappointed here. Some of the staff like Jo’ continuously make me happy ((And they tend to know my regular order (haha my wine upon sitting ;) ) and if there’s ever anything new on the menu, or I’m indecisive/ want to try something different, they are always so kind, chill and helpful <3! Besides the awesome, relaxing atmosphere, the food and drinks are incredible. For newcomers, I highly recommend the Eggs Jackie Chan 😃! You never have to wait long, and if you’re in a rush in the city, the soup and wine deal is awesome. The prices are fair and everything is always fresh, flavourful, (portions are great!) and at perfect temperature when served. So yummy! I get flustered when I’m not able to make it there during their opening times. For if they were still open during evenings, I’d for sure 1000% be there :D Visit, visit, visit! There is complimentary tasty dishes for everyone of all diets 😊❤️💕

Cafe situated in one of Melbourne’s most famous laneways. The ambiance is pretty good and the staff is so friendly. Had breakfast and cappuccino. Both the food and coffee were pretty good. The mushrooms did not taste that good but overall all okay. Would definitely visit again to try something else. Thanks for your kindness !

Not your usual brekky place. Special menu breakfast are amazing. Eggs Jackie Chan lips smacking delicious. Poached eggs fried tempura style and inside still runny! Coffee are great too! They also serve hot hearty soups. Definitely will be back again.

I have been served by a young waitress here several times and she is absolutely outstanding. She’s always cheerful, polite and attentive, and nothing is ever too much trouble. It’s so refreshing to see someone so young show such professionalism and genuine kindness—she really brightens the whole café experience.

Okay! Need to start off with the waitress!! She was the most bubbliest and kind hearted young girl, had an amazing attitude with our orders, the food was to die for and the drinks were amazing would definitely be coming back here just for the atmosphere and definitely for the food !!!

This little cafe is brilliant. We came here especially for the soup, as we wanted to find “THE Soup place”. 10/10 food and drinks with fresh juice and delicious soup. Would recommend to anyone that even remotely likes soup, and for people new to Melbourne such as myself or locals. Great service and good value at a cool location tucked away from the busy streets.

Fantastic place to go for dinner. The food was top notch and the portion sizes were decent. Noteworthy dishes were the margarita pizza and the chicken schnitzel and roast potato dish. The service was good as was the atmosphere. My only reservation is that all mains other than pizzas, were around $35-40 for basic mains, which is a little pricey.

Sunny was extremely accomodating and made us all feel welcomed and at ease. He went above and beyond to ensure that all of our meals met our dietary requirements (halal) and came back to us to talk us through how everything would be prepared. A fantastic experience and delicious food!

Good food and selection that departs from recent trends to prune the menu down, good service and a very pleasant atmosphere. On my list of favourites when in the area again.

Our party of 10 dined here last night (Sunday) and we all loved the food, service & ambience. They were very accommodating, polite and reasonably quick, with all meals delivered within minutes so that we could all eat together. Pizza and pasta were delicious and very generous serves. We thought it was good value. Will definitely be back.

We visited this famous café that shows up in almost every travel vlog—definitely a must-visit spot! We tried two different coffee blends, and both were very aromatic and enjoyable. Overall, it was a great coffee experience. The exterior is also perfect for photos, with two adorable cat murals on the wall. It’s a lovely touch that adds charm to the whole vibe. ☕🐱🎨

Great coffee with sweet, acidic, and complex notes - easily one of the best in the city. Long black here is delicious. Nice vibes and a professional setup, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a cup. Good selection of pastries to accompany the coffee, rounding out the experience perfectly.

The Honduras gesha (servdled in Kona $14) was the best coffee we have ever had. It is light and complex, fruity and has an incredible aftertaste. The barista expertly measures the beans to the milligram and tastes every brew. The Guatemala filter ($6) had a nice sour fruit aftertaste to it and was much stronger than the incredible Honduras. Best coffee ever. Limited seating though.

MELBOURNE COFFEE CRAWL STOP #2. This was my favorite coffee shop in Melbourne. The filtered coffee selection was through the roof. I did the batch brew, which was a Guatemalan and was excellent. Already looking forward to coming back.

Located on the opposite side of the Brunetti store, usually with a long queue since they have pretty good coffee. They have plenty of beans options but there wasn’t any consultation or introduction about the different bean options they have for my first time purchase, even the second. Only the third time I was too curious so I asked, then i know they have such variety. They also have different pastries options to pair w the coffee but i haven’t tried. Love the vibe, very cosy. #Michellegoescafe

beautiful little hidden place, staff were nice and i appreciate them taking in to consideration the little time we had to eat during the lunch hour, we go the chicken salad, the risotto and the steak sandwich. 0 completes was delicious and not ridiculously priced especially the steak sandwich which was scotch fillet! very good job

South of Johnston is very good, it’s just south of perfect. Dirk and I stopped in to get a quick bite before resuming our 60km trail run through inner east Melbourne. Everything was pretty good but on this particular day the staff seemed a bit indifferent, bordering on contemptuous. Not all of them, but enough that we felt slightly unwelcome. Food decent but slightly overpriced. All in all pretty good.

One of my absolute favourite spots! The staff are always warm, welcoming and make you feel right at home. The food is consistently delicious — fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. What a delightful place I discovered today. I've been missing out. Flowers, plants and art everywhere & sunny courtyard. I enjoyed a lovely chai served in a gorgeous silver teapot and proppa cup&saucer, and a toastie- I'd never have thought to put these ingredients together - broccoli, bechamel & Gruyere - it was surprisingly delicious 😋

Really varied menu, which is really nice! Very friendly staff. Food took a very long time to come out, which was weird because we only bought sandwiches. And unfortunately it meant it was impossible to not notice how loud the place is. You can forgive some noise, especially when the place is quite busy but people are just yelling over to each other behind the counter and with the sound of clattering plates, it’s just a bit nightmarish if you’re sensitive to loud noises. Food was very good when we got it. Coffee was decent :) I’m glad I visited. The decor is nice. But for the sound, I probably wouldn’t come back, personally. But if loud noises aren’t such a dealbreaker for you, it’s nice. Maybe would recommend sitting outside if it’s nice, only so the sound isn’t so taxing.

I adore SoJo, it is legendary in my mind and in the local artsy community. I have been going there for years. You can tell it's a love project, but also a smart one. They are always busy, and it's impossible to get a park but it's excellent! Great atmosphere, lovely interior design (the loos are beautiful!). Somehow dark and warm, cool and beautiful. There's a gorgeous fireplace, deep in the cavern-like space, with many seating options including couches, booth seating and tables inside and out. Most importantly they have excellent food – made with care and not just the same as every other place in Melbourne! My favourite thing about them it they are the only place that does a proper pot of tea – in a silver tea pot with porcelain cup and everything. Love it!

My Frist time at a vegan place as I'm not vegan myself, but U was very satisfied with my big breakfast. The vegan bacon blew my mind and the vegan eggs looked and felt just like real eggs, but tasted a little odd for my liking. Fantastic variety on the type of drinks they offer as well.

First impressions, for someone who’s a non vegan/vegetarian, this menu excited me! Yes, this place is overpriced but the food was delicious so I didn’t mind paying. Service could be better, staff were not attentive and we had to flagged them down a few times. Even to get a table, it took a little while to get seated while a couple pushed passed and helped themselves to a table. The server we got didn’t know the menu when I asked for recommendations/suggestions. Smoothie we ordered came in a broken glass (as pictured) and the server we asked to get the glass changed didn’t even apologise. $1 for a dollop tomato relish. The burger with curly fries was yummy and maybe I’ll come back for it.

This place serves brunch and takeaway coffees on a busy intersection in the St Kilda beach area. Matcha Pancakes although generous in serving, the batter felt heavy and dry. Fried Chicken was pretty good, too bad the chips were soggy and the Mac & cheese lacked seasoning. Food - 4 Service - 6 Vibe - 6 Price - $$

Love the concept and idea of a fully vegan cafe! I’m not a vegan myself but Matcha Mylkbar made me push myself out of my comfort zone. The cafe itself is super aesthetic, lovely interior. The girls who worked there are nice but aren’t the most attentive, was standing by the counter waiting to order for 5 minutes but no one noticed me. The food was alright, nothing amazing. Did wish they would be served to us a little warmer, received almost cold food. Furthermore, they got one of our drink orders wrong. Biscoff latte didn’t taste like much, was way overpriced for what it is. Matcha latte was very weak, barely any matcha flavour and the Apple Pie “latte” turned out to not have any milk, tasted like a warm apple juice - very unimpressed by this. The Matcha Pancakes, Matcha Burger and Cured Salmon were yummy! Interesting array of drinks as well that required some getting used to. It was rather busy (lunch time) but the service was relatively quick. Would recommend this place if you're looking for some quirky clean eating.

But I must have misunderstood the menu: the açai bowl was fruit a spoon of peanut butter not even mixed in and an icy chocolate paste super sweet to the point where I couldn’t eat it. Such a cool cafe situated in Brunswick. Plenty of outdoor seating and lots of options for food on the menu. We got the prawn and chorizo chilli scrambled eggs, pulled pork eggs benedict and the persian eggs. They were delicious and very good portion! However flat white coffee was average, a bit weak for my liking.

ux Foundry is a fantastic café with a warm, inviting atmosphere and plenty of space, including a lovely outdoor area that’s perfect on a sunny day. The coffee is consistently excellent, and the menu offers a great variety of well-prepared brunch options with fresh ingredients. Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get quite busy on weekends, so expect a bit of a wait. Overall, a solid local favourite — I’d happily return.

Busy Sunday brunch, there is plenty outdoor seating, on a beautiful day it would be lovely to dine outside. Food was good but nothing crazy outstanding, portions small for price point. I do not recommend the mont blanc drink though.

I had a pancake craving when passing through the area and I wasn't disappointed after trying the delicious apple crumble hot cake. The menu's sweet and savoury variety is really good and I loved the greenery throughout the space, both indoors and outdoors. I'll be back!

I took my friend out for lunch, and we both thoroughly enjoyed this spot. It has a cool, vibrant atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the surroundings while savoring some food and drinks. The poke bowl and Mont Blanc coffee were a highlight for me, while my friend absolutely loved her tacos. It's a fantastic place to visit, though parking can be a bit challenging.

What a lovely experience me and my family had here! The staff were delightful and attentive. There were 12 of us and we all ate together while we ordered. The coffee was delicious and the environment was bright and spacious and not very noisy. Parking can be a little hard but next door, at the shopping centre it’s $4 per hour after the first hour (which is free). I had the lobster roll (the name escapes me) with fries and aioli. I will be returning!

The sheer size of this cafe is the standout feature here. Lot of airy space with a slightly gilded maximalist design aesthetic that isn't too overwhelming. The location, close to the Hive, feels just tucked away far enough from the occasional chaos on Victoria Street. The range of food is somewhat playfully bougie but well worth it. The late breakfast offering with specialist Mork hot chocolate was certainly appreciated. The only thing missing was Livenpay wasn't available, but that tends to be par for the course. As I currently suffer some dizziness the benches near the entrance are also highly welcome.

Nice cosy interiors with lots of space. We tried the kimchi scrambled eggs and turkish eggs and both were really nice. There are some innovative items on the menu like prawn benedict that I will try next time. They also have a coffee roasting service so the beans are worth a try for the coffee afficianados. Extra points for the service and a nice gesture by the staff on Sunday afternoon to share a cookie with my son.

When I lived in the area, I loved visiting Monk Bodhi Dharma 🍵 Cozy, excellent tea, coffee and chai as well as friendly and incredible vegan food. It was so nice to visit again, and can’t wait to return next time I’m in the area. 10/10 recommend.

Absolutely loved this cafe! The vibe of the place is super relaxing and welcoming. Their signature chai was insanely good - it’s officially the best chai I’ve had. The food was super yummy - felt healthy, hearty and wholesome. So many coeliac safe gluten free options too. The staff were all very friendly. It was lovely to see so many regulars - you know a place is good when that’s the case! Wish I lived nearby, I’d definitely be a regular. Highly recommend.

Coffee. Go here for the coffee. Disciple beans, 3 single origins on every day, all incredible. This and disciple in Brunswick are the best places in Melbourne for espresso. Best, hands down. My choice of drink is ristretto or double espresso. But they also have a blend on for milk coffees. Oh and because they use disciple beans, they also do 2-4 different pour over filters or a batch brew for anyone into a smoother drink.

Love this place for breakfast or lunch. The staff are always friendly and there are so many great vegan options. I would recommend the mushrooms or vegan hungry jumbo. Their soy chai is the absolute best, so creamy spicy and delicious.

I ordered Umami Mushrooms, Porridge, Chai and Pancakes. Umami Mushrooms were not flavoured well, very woody, it was spcied a bit too much. I felt sick afterwards. Pancakes were too thick. Porridge and Chai was nice!

I was in town for a couple of days and came here for my breakfast. It's a nice little quiet cafe (hole in the wall) with outdoor and some indoor seating. I had an Almond turmeric latte, Coconut hot chocolate, and Two be free gluten free toast with poached eggs and rocket. It was all delicious! I also had the paleo banana bread and yes that was delicious too! It's not super sweet which is how I like it! Staff a friendly and accommodating. I'll be dropping by again if I'm in town.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Le Petit Gateau for years and have always ordered my birthday cakes here. However, today’s experience was deeply disappointing. I was suddenly charged an extra $5 for the chocolate plaque — something that has always been complimentary in all my past orders. There was no notice about this change either online or in-store. When I questioned it and even showed my previous receipts, the staff’s response was dismissive and unprofessional, asking if I wanted to repay the $5 they hadn’t charged me before. The issue isn’t the amount — it’s the lack of transparency and respect for returning customers. Had this been clearly stated, I would have had no issue paying it. Sadly, this experience has made me lose confidence in a place I once trusted and recommended.

First experience here was marvellous. We came on a very sunny and thus busy Saturday lunchtime, but only had to wait a couple of minutes on a table. The service was very friendly, the food arrived fast and was stunning. The croquettes are a new local favourite for me now, and we'll certainly be back to try the rest of the menu

Lovely spot for a date night or to go play some pool, atmosphere was very nice and service great, even too fast! I was looking forward to their burgers because of a friend recommendation. We tried the beef burger which I found it very dry and below average, while I enjoyed quite much the chicken one, very tasty. My absolute favorite were the poutine fries though, would be back just for those. I was rather surprised they have only wood cutlery and no plates at all, which rendered rather hard to share as burgers are served in the paper containers. Overall it wasn’t bad but neither as I expected. May go back to a redeem for their burgers and perhaps to spend a little more time in their nice indoor area.

Amazing food and great vibes. This place truly is a hidden gem! The burgers and chicken tenders were delicious, and I highly recommend trying the tenders and the beyond burger (great texture and tasted like a beef burger). We will definitely be back for more next time we're in Melbourne!

A tucked away place that felt like back home. We made the right decision by ordering three 'mains' to share between the two of us, and even then I was debating adding on their poutine and pie of the day. I'm still salivating and wanting more because the burger bun was perfect and the chicken strips were juicy and the drinks came as quick as we ordered them. The pool table was free to play on a Monday night and the music fit the vibe. Sit by the fire, the bar, the back room, or the two patios outside for whatever you're after. I loved it.

I come here quite often and have always loved it (the chicken is bangin). But the last time the short curly haired woman was so incredibly rude . Not only did I see her talking poorly to staff , she also refused to let us keep the heater on - even though it was late in the evening . It was only me and my 4 friends in the area and I was freezing . She marched over , turned it off and told us it was too warm for the heater , when I said I was cold she told me to move inside, it’s not all about me , and other people are wearing T-shirts . There was literally no other people in the area (see photo) . The group of 4 of us ended up leaving after our drink finished instead of staying for a few more as planned . Why be so awful ? How expensive is gas ? This is my friends local spot (goes a couple of times a week) and said she’s been rude to his mates other occasions too…. It’s a real vibe ruiner for such a cool spot .

Venturing back to one of the first venues I visited when I first holidayed in Melbourne, @WaffleOnMelbourne. I was here for the waffles but was highly recommended the baguettes so went with the roast beef with the addition of brie. The French guy makes his own bread and it shows. Crispy on the outside, light and flaky, soft on the inside, butter, generously filled with delicious roast beef, salad, tomatoes, mustard, mayo, pickles for acidity, and sandwiching this is rich, creamy, unctuous Brie. Yum! What a combination and I can see why there is a constant queue lining up for this. Then for the waffles. They're not made then and there but were made fresh earlier in the day and then warmed up. I chose a variety with ice cream and maple syrup. Thick, light, with plenty of nooks and crannies for the melting ice cream and maple syrup to nestle into, this was really enjoyable for a small hole in the wall eatery. Ordered the waffle and the roast beef baguette for takeaway located on Degraves St next to the subway entrance to Flinders station. The waffle was premade but they reheat it so it's nice and toasty. It was soft with a brioche-like texture and not too sweet; pretty good and definitely would be even better with some toppings. The roast beef was very tender and delicious with the creamy mayo and mustard and the pickles added a nice acidity to balance the flavours. Baguette was fresh and easy to bite off; it is a softer type of baguette without the crunchy exterior. Overall enjoyed the food.

Decent location for crepes. The filling was yummy tho the shells were a bit too chewy. The ice cream were a little too sweet for my taste, so if you have a sweet tooth, definitely visit.

Harajuku Crepes was a fun stop! I tried the Banana Pocky crepe — it was really tasty and fresh. The crepe batter itself tasted great, not too sweet, which I really liked. Lots of cool options to choose from. The only downside is the filling wasn’t all the way through, so it felt a bit empty near the end. Still a yummy treat and worth trying if you’re in the city!

Must must must visit this place. I pay pilgrimage to this place every time I am in Melbourne and I will come almost every night. The crepes are made on the spot after you placed your order. There is always a queue regardless of the time of the day. Just have to wait patiently. The queue moves quickly.

Very busy place, got the strawberry and Nutella, was tasty but basic, great stop if you want some crepes before the next drinking stop or if your partner wants a sweet treat.

I ordered the Nutella Banana Crepe, and I was extremely disappointed. The amount of Nutella added was minimal, like they just scooped a tiny bit from an empty jar. There was no Nutella flavor at all; it was like eating just the crepe itself. It felt like a complete scam to customers. They clearly cut corners to save costs and didn’t provide a reasonable amount of Nutella. Absolutely terrible! I won’t be coming back.

Hands down one of my favourite dessert places in Melbourne. I come here every time I get a chance and it NEVER disappoints. Fresh fruits, fresh cream, and yummy ice cream. It does get busy sometimes and with only 3 tables so be prepared to take your crepe away but you can enjoy it across the road infront of the State Library.

Pricey, but it was worth a try! Limited seating outdoors only and the wait can be long when it gets busy. Would recommend spending more to get more toppings and flavour.

Fresh, vibrant, and hearty food, but service leaves room for improvement. We visited on a weekend and although the place was busy, the wait time was reasonable—around 15–20 minutes. The Mediterranean brekky plate and the pumpkin hummus bowl were both satisfying and well-prepared, definitely above average in terms of flavor and presentation. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. A simple request to swap poached eggs for scrambled—an option listed on the menu—was curtly declined, which left a sour note. The coffee was also underwhelming and didn’t quite meet expectations. On a brighter note, the café’s exterior is eye-catching and inviting. With some improvements in customer service and coffee, this place could be a standout.

The HELTA is honestly the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten. It was so good. Haloumi, egg, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Eating it was a messy business but so worth it. Coffee was good too. I love the vibe in this cafe. It feels really homey. But beware it is incredibly busy on weekends. You might have to wait in a queue outside before you get a seat. There is also a weekend surcharge and so I ended up paying $29 for a sandwich and a coffee, which I thought was kind of expensive. But also, the sandwich was delightful so maybe worth it. Idk.

Loving this cafe. Cozy and charming with great service and delicious food. I had a dirty chai and the kaski, which was SO tasty. Reminded me of Turkish shakshuka but dare I say, even better. And the GF toast was incredible. I almost don't believe it's GF.

A colleague recommended this place but it was Monday, so we had to visit a different day. The place was already bustling with diners but we were lucky to score the round table. The menu has a Greek influence as well as all the standard fare. My Pumpkin Hummus Bowl with Falafel and toasted pita bread was wholesome, fresh and satisfying. The goats cheese added to the creaminess of the dish, while pumpkin crisps gave it added texture. My colleagues enjoyed their lamb Kofta plate and Benedict style sandwich. Efficient and friendly service throughout the visit. The decor has a retro grocery store feel about it with the high wall of delicacies for the pantry. A fantastic neighbourhood gem definitely with revisiting.

The almond croissant is super fresh and one of the better ones I’ve had in Melbourne for sure! On a weekend, this place gets really packed. Rowena is definitely a favorite of mine in this beautiful neighborhood!

Always nice to visit the little cafe in and around Melbourne. Central Place is one of those eclectic narrow and short streets that brings you bang for your buck and for your culinary tastes. I’ve had mostly takeaway from Little Denn but had a sit down coffee this time. The guy serving was lovely and quite friendly and chatty to all his customers. The food looked fabulous so grabbed a wrap also for lunch. The breakfasts being served were sumptuous and next visit I’ll have to put aside time to have the haloumi chips which I hear great reports about. Although seating is limited inside, its cosy and warm and funky. As the rain came down outside it was a little dry haven. Like the crockery and the books and everything about this place. Notes: very suitable for vegans and vegetarians, restaurant isn’t really wheelchair friendly if you want to dine in, kid friendly and takeaway available.

A classic Indian Chai joint is what we miss a lot since coming to Melbourne. The typical power based chai latte in coffee shops misses the authenticity and aroma from the Indian spices. We accidentally walked into this place on the way somewhere else and were positively surprised. It is a cute little place hidden in the laneway. The owner uses spices directly imported from India. It comes in many different flavours as well. Its Chai is more an upmarket version, but very authentic. A cup of warm chai during cold winter days in Melbourne is such a great treat.

A busy little cafe with good vibes and nice staff. I only had a cheesecake and coffee... both were okay. I’d go back for coffee. The cheesecake was average. The cabinet food was not labeled for food allergies and the staff were unsure what cakes etc where gluten-free etc.

If you're into Japanese cheesecake style Ji recommend trying out Uncle Tetsus Japanese cheesecake. The portions are very generous size, so I'd have loved if they sold slices so I could try their different flavours. I end up getting a crepe cheesecake with three flavours: chocolate+mixed berries, mango and Earl Grey (seasonal flavour). The crepes were actually delicious. But because I also wanted to try out their cheesecake I got the original. It's not very sweet and I quite enjoyed it, specifically with a coffee. Their price range is not very cheap I paid around $44 all up.

Observed a senior staff member showing visible impatience toward a trainee. Food and tools were handled roughly, with gloves touching both food and equipment. At one point, a blowtorch tip went into the cream, then was rinsed under water before reuse. Workflow appeared disorganized and hygiene practices were questionable.

Loved their cheesecake, it’s soft, not too airy or dense, and doesn’t have that eggy taste some cheesecakes do. I also tried their crème brûlée crepe, which was creamy and packed with strawberry filling and two slices of cheesecake inside. Definitely worth trying at least once!

Got crepe brulees ($15.50) with a friend and it was delicious ! The top was freshly blow-torched so the custard below was warm and lovely. The cheesecake piece in the filling was also great as it was fluffy and moist. The crepe itself was so soft,,, overall it combined indulgent sweet tooth satisfaction with a light airiness that made it a great sweet treat to enjoy without being too cloying :D only downside is that it's quite expensive for its size.

We have been going to Uncle Tetsu Japanese cheesecake since 2014, and its amazing taste has been consistent on different continents. Very fast turnaround, friendly staff, and astonishing cheesecakes. Words definitely cannot do justice to describe the amazing taste profile and quality of this cheesecake. I highly recommend it to everyone

Had the limited edition earl Gray and honey cheesecake. It was smaller than the original, but for the same price. Not sure why. The taste was nothing extravagant. Obvious taste of honey and earl Gray, but not enticing enough to re-purchase. The cheesecake was very dry, much more than the original. Very hard to enjoy.

Spacious cafe offering a calm and creative space. I had the dish pictured with the rice. It was true to Japanese cuisine. Light flavours and filling on the palette. Good food and beverages. Would recommend for small group catch ups

Stopped by for a Japanese-style brunch and loved it! Had the salmon rice (traditional) – fresh and very healthy 🐟🍚. Paired it with a warm genmaicha tea 🍵 which was comforting and earthy. A lovely spot if you are after something light yet satisfying 😊

Good was delicious, but a tad on the pricey side for the portion size. Coffee was good and staff were friendly and attentive, even provided some water for my pup. Didn’t get a chance to check out the shop inside but will definitely return for a browse in the future.

Came here this morning for my mum and we got a ryokucha each. I was feeling like a nice warm tea and I like how rich it was, slightly bitter but not overly bitter and it had a smooth texture. It was surprisingly busy but I guess maybe it being a Friday morning makes a difference as well as how popular this spot is. The Japanese grocery store is really cool as well as the exhibits and workshops they hold there, I think you could get great gifts here too. It’s also on the pricier side and I wouldn’t come back here again but it was cool.

Great concept & nice location. There’s a small coffee bar, open plan dining area combined with a small grocery store. When we arrived, there was no table yet. So, the server took our name and let us walk around the store while we wait. Food presentation is great, however taste is just ok in my personal opinion. First photo is the ‘Ultimate’ set with a few more side dish compared to the ‘Traditional’ (vegetarian) set shown on the 2nd photo. 3rd photo is a weekend special of chicken Karage that was on offer at the time of my visit.

I would say this place has a very nice ambience!! love all the details of the designs on the venue itself plus the staff were really nice to me as customer. It was just the food wise that made me disappointed. Taste wise I would say 6/10 which I actually love the vinaigrette? on the salad and the kingfish seasoning itself. But 28$ for this portion? I would think it was not worth it at all and I felt like I spent 28$ for nothing. Kingfish was soooo small, I can tell its not even 100gram :). I would suggest to do a few changes on the food prices…

Convenience store, cafe, work area all in one. Tried the yuzu pound cake, matcha pound cake, and some hot tea this month. All very nice, really can spend the whole afternoon in CIBI working nonstop. Last time visiting this place it was a couple years ago with a friend from uni, we tried a few clean and delicious savoury dishes too.

Delicious food and coffee, so good we ate here a couple of times haha. Cant go wrong with this place. The portions are generous and everything was scrumptious. Service was fast and attentive. They also open early on weekends which was great!

I visited this café today and loved the vibe such a lovely place to chill with friends. I ordered the chai orange, which was really good, but what stood out the most was our wonderful staff, Laura. She was so attentive, gave us the warmest service, and recommended special drinks that turned out to be fabulous. Thank you for making the experience extra memorable!

Really nice cafe, highly recommend the spicy green eggs. The front window is perfect for people watching and it has a nice atmosphere. I also picked up their white nectarine, peach and vanilla jam and it is so yummy.

Stepping into Terror Twilght on a wet, bustling Saturday felt like entering a delightful whirlwind, but thankfully, Laura was there to greet us! Despite the flurry of activity and a short wait (which, honestly, just built the anticipation), Laura didn't just take my name, she ingrained it. By the time we left, she not only remembered mine but charmingly extracted my wife's name too – a feat of memory sharper than my morning espresso! The cocktails were so delightful, they practically serenaded us, and the food was so absolutely delicious and generously portioned, we might still be recovering from a happy food coma. Despite the lively atmosphere, service was lightning-fast, leaving us with zero complaints and fully satisfied bellies. We absolutely enjoyed every minute here which has left us eager to return and explore more of that irresistible menu.

A Collingwood fave! The nod to Pavement lured us in all those years ago and we have been back every time we hit Melbourne. Lovely sunlit space, vinyl records, great coffee, with an interesting, ever-changing menu. Special mention to the next level pancakes, of which there have been many incarnations, but these sweet potato & toffee apple compote with chantilly cream might just top ‘em all. Breakfast cocktails available too!

We were staying just down the road on a business trip and stopped in for breakfast. Food was great, loved the music on a turntable, coffee was great and the cups were awesome. So good we came back the next day and our waitress remembered us! The service from GG was fast, polite and efficient - she knew her stuff! Overall, loved the experience dining here. Will be back on the next trip!

One of my favourite places for brunch in Melbourne! Truly so delicious and I’ve Been a few times now. Food is 10/10, coffee good too! We were in next building and we went here as it looks like gem. No frills simple bakery serving different pastries, cakes, but more importantly piping hot pies. We tried the traditional meat pie and the pepper steak ones. Between us we preferred the traditional ones. Prices were reasonable and coffee was great! Do come before lunch time as it can get quite packed during lunch.

I visited CBD Bakery when they took part in the Baking for Brain Cancer even. Each pie sold contributed $1 to the cause, which made the experience even more meaningful. I had a meat pie. It was absolutely delicious — the crust was perfectly flaky, and the filling was rich and comforting. It felt like the kindness of the staff was baked into the pie. It warmed not just my body, but my heart.I imagine they must have baked many pies with great care for this special day. The staff were kind, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. I’m so glad I stopped by — I’ll be back to try more!

Been there a few times now. Good menu array. Friendly service. Complimentary newspapers. A traditional bakery in the CBD. Great vibe. Good tasting well made sausage rolls.

I go to this cafe whenever I am in the office in the city. Service is always quick and the coffee is pretty good. Vanilla Slices are the best pastries they serve. A great catch is the free cinnamon donut between 10-12 with your hot drink. If they forget to give it to you, they do not mind you requesting it. All the staff are always happy and quick to serve. David is a great barista and always up for a chat. Give this cafe a go if you are in the area.

I visited CBD Bakery at Bourke St for breakfast and coffee. The place is cozy and inviting. The coffee was excellent, and the breakfast options were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. Not crowded, perfect for a relaxed morning. Highly recommended!

The bakery has been there for about 30 years and Tony has been running it for the last 6 years. The second baker in a row that supports the baggers. The presentation of the pie looked nice, it did look a bit shallow though. The lid looked to be baked well, had a small amount of crunch when you bite into the pie and the sides and the base looked to be baked well also. Moving onto the filling the chicken tasted really fresh, nice bite sized pieces, coupled with gravy and leek it complimented each other well. The gravy tasted amazing and wasn't too rich. Had a nice creamy texture on the palate. Seasoned well. The consistency of the filling looked pretty stable. The serving temp was spot on and at a guess the pie would have held up together. This was a really nice tasting pie. It was the 3rd chicken and leek pie i've had so far and ten times better than a Herbert Adams chicken and leek pie ! The price is up there but well worth the price for a gourmet style pie. Coffee's are pretty decent too. 3.5* The burgers were quite good, so no points deducted there. Points deducted on the loaded fries, as it was overly cheesy; and we don't mean that in a good way. We love our cheese, we love our cheesy fries. This cheese in particular just didn't suit the fries and didn't was overwhelming all the other ingredients. Not the best burger joint we've been to, and wouldn't come back due lacking chips and price point.

Good find. Great tasting burger. I got the king Kong, a double burger and cheese. Chips didn't rate highly but burger made up for it. Not much seating inside. Will visit again. Plenty of parking around. Customer service, average, nothing flash.

Trying out a new burger joint. Absolutely a meat fest trying out the King Kong Burger while my friend tried out the Gorilla Burger. 🤤 Overall very good except the beef patty was cooked well-done. Despite that, it was still moist and juicy although I prefer mine to be medium.

Nice burger joint. Has a modern urban style feel. I like the sneakers displayed on the wall. It was quiet when we visited and service was quick. Staff are friendly too. Ordered the Gorilla Burger and the Krusty Burger with Pork Belly. They were priced well and the burgers are well sized. The Krusty Burger is a fried chicken which was nice and juicy, but still definitely crusty. The meat in the Gorilla burger was nice and juicy too. But overall the burgers were tasty without the grease.

Fluffy waffle with crunchy chicken was so delicious. But the sause wasn’t spicy at all. King Kong burger juicy, smoky! Yummy. Will definitely try something else next time.

Not a bad place for a burger. Well presented and very clean. There could be a better drinks menu (nothing beats a good milkshake). The things that let it down - the loaded fries weren't very loaded. Lack of cheese but good amount of bacon. Chicken salt seemed to be used and chicken salt makes anything taste good, so not sure of actual flavor. Beef patty was OK but could be more flavorsome. Good execution. Worth a try.
