Fried chicken takeaway
Fast food restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a deliciously indulgent experience in Melbourne, look no further than F.A.T. Fried and Tasty. This Brunswick East gem is all about embracing the joy of fried chicken, inviting you to set aside any thoughts of dieting and dive into their mouthwatering offerings. Their signature Southern-style chicken is expertly coated and fried to achieve that perfect crunch we all crave. F.A.T.
Food is wonderful and fresh. Sauce taste nice and the milkshake was super good. Large fries is massive. All the staff were nice and kind-hearted, helping us with any need. The atmosphere and interior gives a rapper style vibe with pictures such as the rapper biggie on the wall. Note that there is a 1% surcharge on cards and 15% surcharge on public holidays.

Enjoyable lunch on a Monday so it was not busy at all. Had the pickle and mustard chicken burger which was great, greasy and tasty. Prices are average, service was good and it’s generally a nice place. Note it’s just chicken here, no beef burgers. Tough competition for burgers in the immediate travel, overall I recommend a visit here.
Dino K — Google review
Located in a convenient location, FAT houses all your fried food classics with a somewhat Southern American twang (yeehaw). Nothing overtly revolutionary about the menu or the products, but hits right if you’re craving something fatty. The chips are bit on the average side, the chicken is better than KFC. The restaurant itself is dimly lit.
Leon B — Google review
The food at Fried and Tasty (F.A.T.) is simply superb. Chicken galore in every different style is on the menu. I opted for the Waffles and a side of Fries and they were spectacular.
Normandy J — Google review
amazing burgers fried or grilled.I always get my chicken burgers grilled. The burger itself is very soft and the sauce inside is just delicious right combination with everything. The fries comed with different combinations mine is with mayo and chili’s on the top. Everything is ordered separately but keep in mind the fries sizes are massive. parking on the street. worth every dollar. Good for families and large groups
Sher M — Google review
F.A.T was one of the first American-style fried chicken specialists in Melbourne and still one of the better ones I’ve tried. The Chicken Cheese burger always hit well — chicken was juicy and not dry, though sometimes the crispiness wasn’t consistent. Still, the portions were huge compared to most places. The tenders/chicken bites were okay — a bit on the dry side, but would’ve been much better with a dipping sauce. The gravy chips were elite though — proper comfort food, almost poutine-level, and paired perfectly with the fried chicken.
Christopher W — Google review
Delicious Chicken and Waffles. Travelled from the south east up to Brunswick because it has been recommended and definitely worth the trip. Big servicing sizes and good quality chicken with fresh waffles.
Natalie B — Google review
The chicken is crunchy, juicy and flavourful. I’ve had both the original and the spicy and WOW. Don’t let the original fool you. It packs massive mouthfuls of flavour, from the breading to the juices it’s exactly what you’d want in a fried chicken. The sauce is amazing, tangy with a bit of sweetness, pairs perfectly with chicken and chips alike. Music choice inside is very on brand, though the high ceilings and concrete aesthetic make it quite loud even when half the tables are full. Be advised these are American sized portions! Definitely would recommend this gem!

Top Paddock Cafe is a bright and spacious Australian cafe located in Richmond. It offers specialty coffee and creative breakfast options, with a focus on using fresh local produce. The menu changes with the seasons and features dishes like Eggs Benedict, slow-cooked Beef Brisket Roll, and Buttermilk Waffles. The cafe also serves gourmet sandwiches, pastries, cakes for takeaway, signature cocktails, and custom Darling Blend coffee.
My recent visit to Top Paddock cafe was an absolute delight! The food was simply outstanding. I can't stop thinking about the brioche and mushroom truffle croissants, they were honestly the best I've ever had. Every bite was a perfect combination of flaky pastry and rich, savory filling. The coffee was expertly made, and the fresh juice was the perfect complement to the meal. Beyond the incredible food and drinks, the atmosphere was wonderful. It's clear why this place is so popular. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly amazing brunch experience. I will definitely be back!

Such a beautiful cafe in Church St Richmond, great location, with a cool vibe. It’s quite a big cafe with lots of indoor & outdoor seating, the service was good, however the space being so big was very noisy. The coffee was perfect & our meals I also couldn’t fault, poached eggs perfectly cooked & my mushroom dish was deliciously packed with flavour & texture, as was my husband’s salmon / gnocchi dish ~ highly recommend both dishes. My only complaint, there was a terrible sewer smell lurking in the cafe & the bathrooms could do with a good clean around the vanity area, the mould build up was gross 🤢 as was the non working gurgling toilet. Also, the beautiful peace lily plants are in desperate need of a drink 🪴 🚿 😔 Apart from those minor hiccups, definitely worth the visit - hopefully the mould is gone next time we visit 😊 I took one star off purely for the bathrooms hygiene.

Had a lovely brunch at Top Paddock with my loved one. It was such a warm and vibrant spot! The Rhubarb & Custard French toast was the star of the morning. It just melts in your mouth, perfectly soft with a beautifully balanced sweetness and a nice crunch from the toppings. Absolutely worth recommending! The greens with poached egg and croutons were fresh & light . A great way to balance the meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys quality brunch, cozy vibes, and food that’s plated as beautifully as it tastes. ☕🍞🥗✨

The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, and everything we ordered was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Overall, Top Paddock Cafe is a gem in Melbourne

My hubby really enjoyed his breakfast here. He thought the eggs were cooked perfectly. My strawberry matcha was beautifully presented and delicious. We would def go back to try some other dishes. The service was fast and professional and friendly. Highly recommend

Eggs benny is my personal favourite. Great coffee. Awesome looking place. Can get busy so I recommend booking. Nice outdoor area too if you don't like a lot of inside noise.

Beautifully constructed food with a depth of flavour that look and tastes that you will love. Highly recommended.

For a very long time I wanted to visit this place ! I had high hopes for this café after seeing all the glowing reviews, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The place has a nice atmosphere and looks inviting from the outside, but the service and food left a lot to be desired. We waited quite a while to be acknowledged, even though the café wasn’t particularly busy. When our order finally arrived, it was either missing small details or lacked the freshness and flavour I expected from such a highly rated spot. The staff didn’t seem very attentive or engaged, which added to the underwhelming experience. We ordered Chilli scramble and French toast !! Chilli scramble no flavour at all so as the French toast look like anything but French toast or atlas the French toast I know !! Coffe ok but on warm side !!! It’s possible I caught them on an off day, and I can see why people enjoy the setting, but for me, the food and service just didn’t meet the expectations set by the reviews. Hopefully, it was just a one-off. Another visit to make a final decision!!

Roule Galette is a charming French creperie located in a cozy spot near Flinders Lane, away from the bustling city. The warm and inviting interior allows guests to watch the cooks skillfully prepare both sweet and savory crepes while enjoying the melody of French songs. The menu features a variety of classic crepes, flambeed crepes, and traditional buckwheat galettes, all accompanied by homemade sauces and authentic French cheeses.
The crepes here are amazing, just like the ones I used to have in France. Go with the favorite savory one, so good. My daughter loves the cinnamon stewed apple and chocolate. Service was great too.
John S — Google review
This used to be one of my favorite spots every time I visited Melbourne. It was a small shop tucked away in an alley, but the food was always so good that I would recommend it to friends visiting the city. On this recent visit, the shop had become bigger and the atmosphere nicer, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t quite live up to what I remembered. Maybe my expectations were high because of the great memories I had, so I felt a bit disappointed. I'm not sure if I’ll return, but the staff were still as kind and friendly as ever, which I truly appreciated.
Yuki — Google review
Absolutely delicious. We had the Salmon and the complete, beautiful clean flavours. Also the flat white was made beautifully. The staff were very lovely and fast! We sat outside and the light breeze and calm vibes created a beautiful breakfast experience. 10/10
Bianca D — Google review
Rolue Galette is a must-try for crepe lovers! I had one sweet and one savory crepe, and both were absolutely delicious. The food and service are excellent, and everything tastes freshly made. A lovely little spot that brings a real taste of France — highly recommended!
Simon V — Google review
Roule Galette is a small and cozy place with authentic Breton food – the flavors were really good. However, my experience was spoiled by a big disappointment. I ordered a galette with Norman Camembert and asked to add ham. My request was forgotten, and when I reminded the staff, they simply brought three slices of ham on a separate plate, not even warmed or grilled. On top of that, we were three people and were seated at a tiny table meant for two – it was really uncomfortable. Even worse, my friend ordered a galette with shellfish and found pieces of shell in the filling, nearly breaking a tooth. A complete fiasco!
Ben S — Google review
The food was great, but such a long wait for food. I recommend coming here only if you have plenty of time. The Dubai chocolate crepes were nice but overpriced. Everything else was delicious
Marina M — Google review
Looking for something different than the usual avo smash I chose this small cafe for breakfast. I’d had Galette in Braidwood previously where it is magnificent. I ordered the Cheri Galette with tomato egg and rocket and decided to try the homemade tomato sauce for an extra $3.80 Unfortunately the meal was a little underwhelming. The tomato sauce was a very small squeeze under the edge of the galette where in my mind I thought it might be a rich sweet dollop of relish or something. Definitely not worth the extra $3.80 as it is tasteless. The rocket was also pretty lifeless and perhaps looking a bit old. The coffee was good.

Went with my daughter and the staff were really accommodating and friendly. Thank you, she had a great time and really enjoyed the strawberry crepe! Would come again.

Archie's All Day is a charming diner located in a bluestone building, offering a perfect setting to meet friends at any time of the day. It's particularly popular for starting off a Sunday session in Fitzroy, an Australian tradition of gathering for day drinking on Sundays. The menu features classics like smashed avo toast with local favorite Meredith Farm's marinated feta, mint, parsley, sumac, and pepita dukkah.
★★★★★ This was my first time visiting Archie’s All Day, and I’ve heard so many great things about it. The coffee was really good, and even though the staff were short handed, they stayed super friendly and welcoming. The salmon gravlax is definitely a must-try, it was amazing. The smashed avo was also great, and the portions were really generous. I’ll definitely be going back next time!
Vahid S — Google review
Tried Archie’s All Day – the Huevos Sucios(Dirty eggs) were just okay, could have used a bit more spice and punch. The Godmother was tasty, but felt like it was missing a little something. Coffee was average, even with an extra shot. Overall, decent but not particularly impressive.
Animesh S — Google review
Highly recommend this venue for a group catch up. Came here with some friends and family and everyone enjoyed their meals (the chicken waffles were amazing!). Coffee was great too. Recommend booking as it's super popular. We sat outside where there was heating too.
Storm C — Google review
This place usually has a queue for a table ~10 minutes. There’s a choice of frontstore, indoor and courtyard seating. There’s frontstore has no heating so be weary during the colder that it will get frosty. Decent variety of options. The non-caffeine options on the menu is bit limited if wanting freshly made products. The hotcakes were alright. Our host wore sunglasses which was an interesting vibe when working.
Leon B — Google review
Not my first time at Archie but the latest dish I had, which was the mushroom on toast something got me sick in the tummy 🥲 me and my friend shared the KFC burger and the mushroom toast but I got uncomfy stomach after that (my friend hasn’t finished the other half of his toast so now he’s still fine)🥹. Regarding the flavor, everything was on point to be honest, love the spices and everything but I might not try that toast again even though I love the taste! 😭

really impressed with this cafe on gertrude st! archie's has been on my list forever and i finally decided to pop down. usually there is a long line but i went on a weekday morning and it was relatively quiet, no need to wait for a table. service was great and they give you blankets if you sit outside on a cold day. the menu is really varied - they have brunch classics but also some more interesting elevated dishes. my coffee was delicious, but i do wish they did a matcha! there were a few vegan options to choose from, i went with the shakshuka which was incredible and very filling. i also appreciate that they substitute in a vegan feta rather than just removing everything to make it vegan. definitely adding to my rotation of great cafes in melbourne.

It’s good but I would rate other places in the area better! Got a seasonal veggie salad with a poached egg 7/10 just beware the chai is just tea with water and very floral and sweet! Coffee is good

La Petite Crêperie is a charming little spot located in an old newsstand on the corner of Swanston and Little Collins. It's a popular destination for those seeking an authentic Parisian crêpe experience, offering a variety of toppings such as salted caramel, chocolate, honey, Nutella, almonds, peanut butter, banana, lemon sugar and cinnamon. The café operates until late at night and is perfect for a post-dinner dessert.
Very delicious crepe in Melbourne. It’s so cold at night here, everyone wants a hot crepe with Nutella. I went there at 20:15, and waited for 25 minutes for my crepe. But I would say it’s worth it. Remember to pay by cash better by card, cuz card payment surcharges 1.5%
THERESA W — Google review
Back to my favourite childhood crêpe spot. It’s been years since I’ve been here, and I’ve truly missed it. 🍁 Still one of the best crêpes I’ve ever had. Had to come back for the classic! lemon, butter, and sugar. 🍋 Always a favourite. Always worth it. ❤️🥞

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Have walked past this crepe cart a few times before and have finally given it a go last night. Went with their sweet selection of peanut butter and banana. They have a good crepe reputation and I can taste why. Service is relatively quick for a two-staffed booth with a compact menu. Thanks for the crepes La Petite, would try something else next time. Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

A little street vendor in a booth, very tasty crêpes, got the plain crêpe with nutella and strawberry and was very tasty. Must try if you want something sweet in town
Sam B — Google review
Best crepes in Melbourne. Super convenient location for a sneaky crepe on the way home from work. I'm simple and enjoy a basic butter and sugar crepe, but the variety is quite vast. Lots of options for getting a crepe your way, with the extras that appeal to you. Just be careful as they are quite hot right off the hot plate!
Haohan L — Google review
It’s a roadside tiny creperie. The vibe is immaculate. And they had quite a few sweet and savoury crepe options. I went with apricot jam with fresh lemon juice and it was nice. Sweet yet tart.

Adozen Adozen, located in Carlton, Melbourne, is renowned for its original Japanese souffle pancakes that have gained popularity on TikTok. These cloud-like creations are praised for their light-as-air texture and sweet milk flavor, with a variety of toppings such as fresh strawberries, decadent chocolate, and mouth-watering matcha. The menu features seasonal rotations with standout options like honey with Weet-Bix-flecked butter and bonito-flaked okonomiyaki.
My mum has been wanting to visit for so long and we finally got the opportunity to go today! 10/10 souffle pancakes, the best I’ve ever had really they’re so soft and jiggly while being thoroughly cooked all the way through. We ordered the matcha pancakes, fresh fruit pancakes, yuzu cheesecake, fruit boom green tea, and sakura and berry hot tea served in a small teapot. Everything was great, staff was friendly, the restaurant itself is really cute with very clean tables and chairs. It was overall a lovely dining experience. The cheesecake was soft and had a melt in your mouth experience too.

Tried the tiramisu, dark chocolate, white chocolate strawberries pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and tasty, and the white chocolate strawberries are always a favorite—sweet and smooth. The dark chocolate wasn’t as rich as expected and had a faint eggy smell that threw off the flavor a bit. Some hits, some misses—but still a great spot for a sweet treat.
Veena S — Google review
I visited the store tonight (28/09) with a friend. Initially, we ordered the Tiramisu one, not realizing that it didn't have the halal label on the menu. Once it came out and was served, the staff kindly confirmed with us that it was in fact, the literal only pancake that was not halal. She very nicely told us we can switch the menu to another one that's halal-friendly or ask for a refund. We chose to change our order to a vanilla brulee. It was splendid! The souffle pancake was incredibly soft, and it wasn't too sweet. We were touched by the staff's consideration about the halal menu (for context, we're hijabis), she went out of her way to help us out. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for her name. Our biggest gratitude to her. Would definitely come back for the pancake, the vibes and warm service.
Shafira T — Google review
Craving dessert late at night in Melbourne and stopped by this pancake place. Food and service were great! Liked how it’s slightly on the outskirts of the city which is easier to park or less lines to get in.

Stopped here for some dessert on our last night in melbourne! Service was prompt and super lovely. We got the strawberry and white chocolate pancakes and they did not disappoint. This will be a regular place when we are in melbourne

Adozen Adozen is a must for soufflé pancake lovers! The pancakes are insanely fluffy, and the white chocolate strawberries are a total game changer. The matcha cheesecake is the perfect treat to pair with it. Amazing vibes and even better food, I definitely recommend!

Visited after dinner during my trip in Melbourne. Good smell around the cafe. Ordered original pancake as prefer to taste the basic menu first and did not disappoint at all. Pancake served in good portion, right taste (not too sweet or too buttery). Not too long wait as staff mentioned. Great service mind staff and ambient. Will definitely visit again when have chance next time.

This was my first time trying Adozen Adozen and I was genuinely blown away by how delicious everything was! The souffle pancakes were so light and fluffy - like little sweet clouds! We tried the tiramisu and dubai chocolate and they were both delicious. I also really loved the basque cheesecake, it was so creamy!!! This is the perfect sweet treat any time of the day

Belles Hot Chicken Melbourne CBD offers a variety of crispy chicken options, including tenders, wings, and drumsticks with a crunchy coating. You can choose your preferred level of spiciness, from mild to tear-jerking hot. The menu features Nashville-style crispy chicken served with a selection of sauces like Belles hot sauce and Mississippi Comeback. The ambiance is described as a hipster hangout with good service.
A meal at Belles is undoubtedly quite a satisfying experience if you're craving hearty, tasty comfort food, The burgers are juicy and flavorful, with a perfect balance of toppings and a soft, bun. 🍔The wings are crispy and tender, coated in delicious spices that hit all the right notes—definitely a highlight of the menu! 😋😋The curly fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. 👌👌 The staff are friendly and attentive, making sure our order was perfect. The atmosphere is casual and warm, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family. Prices are reasonable considering the generous portions. Belles, I’ll definitely be returning soon! 👍😀

First of all, I'd like to thank the staff for their warm welcome and excellent service. I was excited to find halal Nashville chicken in Melbourne. However, the experience fell a bit short of my expectations—but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the food. I tried the tenders with Traveller Spice (mild). The flavour was decent, but the breading could be crispier. I’d rate it 6/10. I also recommend getting ranch sauce on the side for dipping. I wouldn’t recommend the coleslaw, as it wasn’t to my taste. I prefer a sweeter version, whereas this one was quite the opposite. Rating: 2/10. The buffalo burger was the highlight of the night—the sauce, cheese, and overall flavour were deliciously messy. Rating: 8/10. Overall, the experience wasn’t bad, just not quite what I expected. However, I’d love to visit again and try different menu items. Second visit on 12th of Feb 25, got all good stuff deal $60 for two, the amount is good but I believe the breading could be better. The service was slower this time than the first visit.

My friends and I came here for the first time, and the staff were super friendly and provided great service. We ordered the Belles Bucket with the Traveller flavor — it had a nice, balanced taste, not too spicy, and gave off a real American-style fried chicken vibe. I really liked the pickles on the side — they went perfectly to cut through the richness. The side dishes like salad, fries, mashed potatoes and corn cheese were the best! Everything tasted amazing together. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Pam at Belles Hot Chicken in the CBD, and she made our experience truly outstanding. From the moment we arrived, she welcomed us with a warm, genuine smile that immediately made us feel at home. Pam went above and beyond throughout our visit—showing initiative, delivering exceptional customer service, and demonstrating a true passion for what she does. She’s not only attentive and professional, but also incredibly personable, making conversation feel natural and heartfelt. It’s rare to come across someone who blends friendliness, efficiency, and professionalism so seamlessly. Pam is a standout and a true asset to the Belles team. Thank you for making our visit so memorable!

My girlfriend struggled to pick a place to eat at for atleast an hour, my lord am i glad it landed at Belles. As soon as i walked into the establishment i was amazed by the decor and music. Really felt like i was taken to a totally different timezone, it was amazing and really felt unique, absolutely nailed it. The food we got was great aswell, the chicken was done great and was delicious especially with the sauce. Staff were really fast and didnt have to wait at all pretty much. I cannot suggest this place enough, just do yourself a damn favour and go to Belles. PS can you send me merch?

We came here for a date night and it was so good we brought our friends back a few weeks later! The chicken is amazing (the nashville tenders are the best) and we LOVED the mac n cheese. The interior is really cool too and gives an American diner style of eating. Definitely will be coming back again. :)

Vibes are immaculate. Food was delicious. I love that they have a small menu because you don’t have to waste time trying to decide what to get. Went in with my mum & sister & we all walked out happy. I ordered the iced tea & it was amazing - I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. It’s a shame we live on peninsula bc I’d stop by just for that. The staff were lovely too. Thanks for having us. I’ll definitely be recommending Belles to more people.

Burgers were 10/10!!!! Best burgers I’ve had in a long while. But, the wings that we ordered in the spice level which was the 3rd option (can’t remember which one) felt very unseasoned. It didn’t taste like anything at all, and that was a bit disappointing. The fries, however, were so good! Crinkle cut, crispy, soft all at the same time. Loved them. Waiting time was about 7 minutes. And nobody even looked our way at the waiting area the whole time. Would have appreciated a bit of acknowledgement, but considering the fact that only one attendant was rushing to and from tables, it was understandable i guess. I’d definitely go again for the fries and burgers!

Keki Milk Bar is a trendy spot known for its delightful souffle pancakes slathered in custard cream, which are miraculously light and gluten-free. The menu offers seven options, with the raspberry and white chocolate crumble being a standout choice. Guests can pair these delectable treats with refreshing iced sodas flavored with passionfruit or citrus.
My friend took me to this cute little soufflé pancake shop. The vibe was so cosy and lovely, you just want to spend time and chill here with your friends. The soufflé pancakes were so delicious! My fav was def the original version. The drinks were good too! Service was good, the staff were friendly! Would love to be back again!

Nice and quaint little Cafe. The souffle are very light & fluffy, and very easy to eat. The strawberry one was good, but would try the matcha one next time. Staff are friendly and attentive and the environment is very relaxed. A great place to relax while in town. Prices are reasonable, $18.50 for souffle. Would happily visit again.

Absolutely fantastic! Loved it here! As soon as I walked in, the staff made me feel at complete ease - there’s a very calming, relaxing atmosphere in the heart of a bustling city. The pancakes were unbelievably delicious - so light and fluffy! The toppings worked so well too. Reasonably priced, plenty of coeliac safe gluten free options. Highly recommend.

Very delicious soufle pancake. So light, soft and jiggly! The citrus ricotta flavour is really refreshing and not too sweet. Highly recommended if you want light desserts.

A cafe that specialises in Japanese souffle pancakes and house by drinks. Their menu offers several different flavours of pancakes, and I tried the plain flavour and homemade fizzy. The pancake was one of the lightest I've had before, and had a strong egg white flavour. It melted in your mouth very quickly. The environment also felt quite relaxing and was clean. Worth a try if you would like a light and tasty dessert 👌👍

Absolutely heavenly soufflé pancakes. My partner and I stopped in here for a late brekky while holidaying in Melbourne. We ordered the raspberry pancakes and the truffle cream pancakes. My partner has a sweet tooth, so for him the raspberry pancakes were incredible. I love a good sweet & salty combo, so for me the truffle cream pancakes were perfect. Drinks were also great! The only thing I will say is that for soufflé pancakes they were a little small in my opinion, but the taste makes up for this factor
Lilly — Google review
So when I found out this place made gluten free japanese soufle pancakes I immediately made my roommate drop everything and go with me to find it. When we got there we found a very small shop, with a pretty limited menu. But all but two items were safe for me to eat. And that is a pretty good ration in my eyes. You can order online from your table, go up to the counter or even order to take away. But it was an easy process and a short wait. We had some of their mixed drinks. The peppermint and lime, and the orange and lemon and shared one of their signature pancakes. But damn diddly if that food wasn't magical. Finding places that make safe pancakes is rare. But these were so very soft and fluffy with a sweet buttery topping and a splash of maple syrup. I will definitely be going back before I head home to perth. I need to try the rest of their menu.... for science....XD
Stephanie Y — Google review
Lovely place, had a good time sitting there during a rainy morning. Unfortunately the pancakes are made from frozen dough (the plastic package of a portion has been ripped open in front of me), so they are running inside. Huge disappointment. Delicious strawberry match latte, though. But that's not what I came for. 🙃 On top of all, for 30 minutes nobody collected the empty plate from my table. So won't hurt you to hang out there for a chat over a beverage, but don't expect too much.

The Hardware Société is a cozy and rustic-chic breakfast cafe known for its French toast and baked eggs. Established in 2009 by Di & Will Keser, it started as a small 35-seat cafe in Melbourne and has since expanded to Paris and Barcelona, capturing the essence of each city's spirit. The original Melbourne location continues to serve excellent coffee and signature dishes, while the second location in an industrial space offers an elevated experience.
I cannot even begin to explain how delicious this meal was! I had the baked eggs trios with scallops and it was just melt in your mouth phenomenal! My partner had the special and I had a bite and it had the most beautifully paired flavors. Easily one of the best iced lattes while my partner enjoy the sidra. Will definitely return

The Hardware Societe is simply on a different level when it comes to brunch and coffee. You’ll simply get the best brunch and coffee in Australia. Walk right in or take away if there’s a queue. I’ve tried a wide range of brunch dishes at their ‘Hardware lane’ cafe and decided to try this location as well. The level was high as usual and coffee (beans from Brazil) was surprisingly divine. I had to take away as it was packed and there was a long waiting list. However, my Benedict was still great. Creamy and nice texture overall. It was cooked and prepared to perfection. The service was equally good and for these reasons I give this cafe the rare 5 stars
Teddy K — Google review
This is a solid spot in a good location. The space feels comfortable and open. The staff member who greeted and sat us was very friendly. The server who took and delivered our order was fine. The food is on the pricier side, but it's tasty and unique. It's well presented and both our meals were cooked perfectly, if not quite filling enough. The menu is interesting and we are keen to try more items. The iced tea was great and the coffee was good. Just some feedback for the restaurant: if you seat people at the table behind the curtain separating it from the cashier, maybe be mindful about chucking the cutlery into the bin. There's a seat literally right there and it's a pretty unpleasant sound directly into the ear. Maybe just gently place it in, or move the bin?

What a gem! This quirky and inviting cafe has completely won me over. I came for a treat and discovered what might be the best hot chocolate I've ever had (bold claim, but maybe even the best in Australia!). Everything here is top-tier: the food and service are both flawless—a solid 10/10. If you're looking for a great cafe experience, this is it. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

In a small lane, not far from Southern Cross, morning commuters stop in for coffees. A vibrant atmosphere and a pleasant waitress welcome us to a table. The coffee mugs are cute, a perfect Magic and Oat Matcha latte picks up our day. There are NO traditional eggs on toast. I have a baked egg Deux with baguette, awesome. Scrambled tofu with smoked eggplant, tastes good with blended flavours. Good choice for breakfast.
Barry F — Google review
Favourite place for breakfast when visiting Melbourne. Meals are hearty and good value, whether you have sweet or savoury. Some are like "dinner for breakfast"! service is charming and coffee is like a hug in a cup. Probably need to get a cake for later, too. Yuzu cold drip is my favourite drink in the world.
Hayley L — Google review
If you're searching for a brunch spot in Melbourne that’s become nothing short of iconic, Hardware Société in the CBD ticks the box. Tucked into Katherine Place (just off Flinders Lane), its laneway location delivers that genuine Melbourne café-vibe — a little hidden, energetic, and always buzzing. The menu riffs on French and Spanish influences, offering items like baked eggs with chorizo or vegetables, the decadently famous fried brioche, and artisan-style coffee brewed just right. What keeps the institution status alive is how it blends creativity with approachability. On the flip side, some find the space a bit snug and the service occasionally hurried in peak times. If I were to pick a tip: go early (before the crush at around 9am), settle in for the full sit-down rather than takeaway, and make space for one of their standout dishes — the kind you’ll want to linger over.

A group of people I know were in town from Singapore and I wanted to put the best Food forward for them over brunch and where better to go than Hardware Société. We ended up at the cafe on beautiful ANZAC Day. The host was seamless and moved like a dancer very courteous and very fast. We sat and the server was with us to take coffee orders immediately. 2 Flat Latte, Cappuccino and a beautifully crafted Hot Chocolate were with us in 7 mins. (Yes i timed it) We ordered a couple of sweet and savoury options and all came out great. The texture in Crepes along with sweetness was perfect and to die for. I would say they were the best out of all 3 we ordered. Baked Eggs with Deux were perfectly cooked eggs at the bottom and sizzling Tomato sauce on the top. It was simply magnificent. Mushroom on toast with french onion creme was light soft and the right amount of salty. Tasted beautiful. We ended with another round of coffee drinks. The only reason service gets a 4 star is because we had to call a couple of times for the second round of coffee orders before someone was available. Unfortunately i think it was due to them being busy on ANZAC day and seemed short staffed too. Otherwise the experience was great for both me as a local and for the visitors too. Would I Recommend - Definitely Would I Revisit - Definitely

Grain Store is a charming eatery located in the bustling Central Business District of Melbourne. The interior exudes a cozy, country-cottage vibe with its industrial looks and homey atmosphere. Embracing the farm-to-town concept, the restaurant offers a seasonal menu featuring delightful dishes such as bircher muesli topped with fresh local fruits and ricotta pancakes served with caramelized bananas. Additionally, Grain Store prioritizes sustainability by utilizing organic food delivery services to minimize food miles.
The food didn’t exactly blow my mind, but it was pretty good the chili scrambled eggs were tasty, just not life changing. What really stood out was the beautiful presentation and the cozy vibe. Be ready to wait though ,I queued for about 30 minutes, watching the line like it was the hottest club in town. 😄 But hey, the warm service and relaxed atmosphere made up for it. Latte was smooth, vibes were nice, just don’t expect your taste buds to see fireworks. Worth a try if you’re in the area!

Head to the Grain Store for a not-so-usual breakfast. An Asian twist on some of the menu items is a welcome change to the standard egg offering. If anything, they can probably afford to take one thing off the plate for the more elaborate dishes. Coffee is reliably good and the cafe has a lovely, warm casual feel. Get the side of mushrooms because they’re magically moreish.

The foods are delicious! The portion is normal size. I love the spices in the scramble eggs and the curry leaf adds so much flavor to it. The place is very crowded, would recommend making reservations. Perhaps the store is used to high volume turnover, even during less peak hours, the waitresses are cleaning the plates and cups super quick. It is definitely a cafe that just in and out quick.
Sherin W — Google review
The cafe had a warm and modern interior, but surprisingly, the atmosphere felt a bit chilly. We walked in hoping for a simple breakfast—just coffee and a Danish. However, when we placed our modest order, a staff member directed us to a separate table, away from the more comfortable seating inside. It seemed those inner tables were reserved for customers ordering a full breakfast. While the coffee was warm and flavorful, the staff’s attitude remained cold throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the unwelcoming service overshadowed the pleasant aesthetics and decent coffee.

Was a great spot to have a nice overpriced breakfast. We had to wait outside in the cold for some reason, but we were seated fast and the service was nice. Waiters filled our waters timely. There was an angry Asian man at the bar and he was funny to observe. Do not get the warm matcha latte. It was not tasty at all.

My friend and I ate here about 10 years ago on a girls trip to Melbourne and we found ourselves back here again with our husbands and had to see if it was as good as we remembered it. And it was!! Everything was so tasty, my husband said it the best porridge he’s ever had and I’m still dreaming about the chilli prawn scrambled eggs. The customer service was amazing too. Very friendly staff, especially the owner! She was great. The attention to detail is bang on including always making sure our water was topped up. Hopefully won’t be 10 years until we’re back again!

The food looked nice but didn’t really wow us. It was hit and miss. Some of the staff were very friendly and attentive but the lady at the front was a bit rude. I recommend to book a table before coming here to avoid waiting.

Grain store is a lovely warm place with comfortable seating. The coffee was perfect. I had the Miso and honey glazed salmon. While the portion size was actually large and I was completely full, as the title dish was salmon I did expect a bigger piece of salmon and only one poached egg but it was 2 poached eggs and smaller piece of salmon. In saying that it was super filling and balanced and those eggs were delicious. So I preferred it this way, it was just different to what I expected. Service was great.

We had an amazing lunch yesterday at The Quarter. I really love the atmosphere on Degraves Street. It's the classic dining experience in Melbourne in my books! We sat at the counter looking out onto the street which was really nice. The service was very friendly and quick! We tried the pasta and pizza. Both were delicious! The pasta was very simple, but had a delicious rich tomato sauce with lovely pork bits in the sauce. And the pizza was really tasty with big prawns on top and prosciutto. It was a fantastic meal! I would definitely recommend popping in for a delicious lunch or brunch while you're in Melbourne!

5 star for "Street Food" eats. (The tables are literally set up on the street.) Popular place with fabulous vibe. We were here on a busy Sunday (+15% surcharge). Joseph (front of house) and the team provided exceptional attentive and friendly service. Prompt seating and order taking... Bit of a delay on the delivery, but this gives more time to soak up the atmosphere. Well worth it. Some nice twists on favourite dishes. Seating indoor - or - out on the street.

Was wandering the city today and got a bit peckish. This place looked promising. Great street vibe and good service. A wide selection of food, most of which looked great. The expresso was up to standard. Sadly the pizza was a bit ordinary, biscuit like dough and way too much cheese I'm sure this would suit some but wasn't an Italian pizza by any means. Having said that, a reasonable place to soak up the Melbourne street eats vibe

I used to visit place quite a lot during COVID for coffee and cake but this is the first time I've eaten here in person, to start the service is top notch from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave! Very good old school hospo service from the FOH staff! Love to see it! Also the coffee is great! I have to be honest tho, The food was underwhelming... I had an omelette and unfortunately it came out overcooked. I'm willing to give it another shot as everything else was top notch! But I hope the cooks can take this on board. As such a big Melbourne institution I would love for the food to match the top service! Cheers

Last picture was my IG story. we visited Higher Ground before heading to the office for a quick brunch with my partner. I really love the industrial design and factory vibes. plus, it’s just a few steps away from Southern Cross Station, which is so convenient for work days. The bergamot hot chocolate with orange zest was amazing, and we also enjoyed the Humpty Doo barramundi and pork katsu. Great spot to start the day before work! 🫶🏻

I had a unique experience with the menu, but I enjoyed it! The atmosphere is charming, and the service is super friendly. I felt rushed, which I think is part of the Australian way of doing things that we should respect. The coffee really packs a punch—so good! The space is quite ample, though it’s not your typical setup. Overall, I really liked it! The prices are reasonable, and it's in a great central location in Midtown.
Aliya A — Google review
To be honest, I am stuck between a 4 stars or 5 stars for food because the barramundi was good! But the ricotta hot cake is too overwhelming for 1 pax. It’s starts off with really nice. After finishing half the cake, it becomes a chore; so tiring to eat it. Barramundi is nice, fresh and the sauce complements it well. Balance taste! Environment is nice and chill. Great place for groups catch up. Staff are fast and efficient, friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this place. Love to try other menu item next time!

Finally we had the chance to visit the legendary Higher Ground. The place is considerably big and managing such a big venue which is fully booked is not an easy task, hats off to their great shop staff. Menu wise, great selection of elevated dishes and innovative drinks. This is definitely not an ordinary place so don't expect a light bill, our breakfast for two easily surpassed 200$ but no complaints 😉

This iconic OG brunch spot, housed in a former power station, exhibits a great industrial vibe with its high ceilings. While it can get crowded on weekends, making reservations is recommended. We tried a few dishes and found the food to be good.

If you’re craving a unique interior paired with exceptional service and outstanding food, Higher Ground cafe is the place to go. Designers transformed an old power station into a modern, subtly elegant space. The chefs match this vibe, crafting incredibly delicious and refined dishes. I was kinda thrown by the Udon Carbonara, loaded with spices and seeds—was this really my order? Yup, and it was ridiculously good! Even the long black (seriously high-quality) came with a Turkish twist—a side of sparkling water. Prices? Pretty fair for a place this awesome.
Tasha S — Google review
We stopped by Higher Ground late in the afternoon since they open a bit later than other cafes in Melbourne, 5 pm. We came based on a strong recommendation from a friend of my brother, who said this is her favorite spot in Melbourne. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the service was attentive and friendly. The drinks were solid — I had a hot chocolate, and the two others ordered flat whites. They also tried desserts: one was a caramelized item and the other a red velvet cake. While I’m not a big fan of sweets, I sampled a little and found it quite enjoyable. Overall, Higher Ground offers a nice experience with interesting decor and good quality offerings. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Great foods for brunch or lunch. Many of the menus are really good. Service was great, staffs were friendly and helpful. The place itself was okay. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but it was okay considering the foods and service. Recommended place.

We keep coming back for a reason! Lovely staff (especially Sandra she’s our favourite) the chefs are very inventive and make incredible flavour marriages I didn’t even know work but really do. Just wow. Love this place. Lastly the batch brew is always 10/10 hot everytime and always freshly brewed

Yummy breakfast! We ordered 1. Salmon Congee - hearty warm bowl of porridge to warm the tummy in the morning 2. Singapore chili crab omelette with enough sauce so it doesn't overpower the whole experience (a tad heavy on ginger tho)..oh we swapped the white bread to sourdough bread (personal preference)

It was a chilly morning when we came and waited around 5-10mins for a table. It was a decent wait for a brunch time. The staff are lovely and really nice! We ordered the Beef Benedict, French Toast, Prawn Burger, and the Chicken Rice. For the drinks we ordered the Ube Matcha and Flat White. Beef Benedict - it was on a sweeter side on our taste but it was good. French toast - a decent french toast! Prawn burger - 9/10! We really enjoyed it and it was very flavourful. Chicken Rice - it was just okay. We had a good Hainanese rice in other places so we had high expectations. Ube Matcha - nice flavoured matcha 👍🏻 Overall, it was a nice experience for us and enjoyed our meal! Will be back to try other dishes ☺️

Wanted to love this place but found the dishes to be a bit sweet overall, and the flavours were not as punchy as I was hoping for either. However the service was really great, and obviously it was a very popular cafe as there was a long wait for a table. Maybe it was just not my cup of tea!
Annie T — Google review
Located in an old telephone exchange building. The cafe has an Asian influenced menu, which challenges the traditional brunch options. My UBE Waffle was presented flawlessly ensconced in purple flavour. The fried Crab meat was tender, blended well with Singapore chilli sauce, tasting nice with omelette. The seating was a little crowded, usually sharing a table with others.
Barry F — Google review
I came here with my friend last month and really enjoyed the food! The staff were friendly and provided great service. There aren’t many private tables, so you might need to share a table with others if you don’t want to wait too long. Overall, I had a great experience and was really impressed!

Definitely one of the best brunch spots in Melbourne CBD. I recommend the Singapore Chilli Crab Omelette. Coffee is always great. Will be back for more!

The Pancake Parlour Melbourne Central is a long-standing chain known for its classic and innovative pancake creations, as well as cocktails and ice cream. With over 10 locations across Melbourne, it's the go-to spot for satisfying late-night cravings with sweet or savory pancakes and crepes. The menu also features favorites like bacon and eggs. Visitors praise the friendly staff, quick service, and inclusive atmosphere.
Took my girls here for the last day of our holiday here and we were greeted and treated amazingly by our waitress, Deb. She was ever so friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, brilliant in ensuring we had everything we needed to ensure a most pleasurable lunch for my 3 girls and I. I will most definitely return and I have to say that Deb is an absolute asset to The Pancake Parlour, thank you so much! I highly recommend anybody to visit this restaurant, the food and service are all impeccable!

Visited Pancake Parlour recently and had a mixed experience. The food was okay — nothing mind-blowing but it did the job. The staff were helpful when approached, though they weren’t very communicative or proactive, which made things a bit awkward at times. One of the bigger issues was the ordering process through the app. It wasn’t very user-friendly, and it was easy to overlook the winter menu discount, which was disappointing. A bit more clarity or guidance would’ve helped. On the positive side, the atmosphere was lively and upbeat, which made the overall vibe enjoyable. It's a decent spot for a casual outing, but a few improvements — especially with the mobile ordering system — would go a long way.

Stopped by at tea time. The restaurant was quite spacious and empty, staff were extremely helpful and kind. Normally ordering by QR code, but staff were happy to order for you. For pancakes, they allowed a wide variety of personalised options, for example protein pancake, gluten free pancakes; toppings ranging from ice cream, vegan ice cream, cream… Ordered a mini fresh strawberry pancake and Hot Long Black Large. The mini fresh strawberry pancakes came with fresh strawberries, two mini-size pancakes and vanilla ice cream, decorated with strawberry sauce. The pancakes were soft and slightly chewy in texture, but the sides were nearly burnt that formed a piece of ‘skin’ literally. The fruits were fresh. The vanilla ice cream was just sweet. Long black was smooth to drink, but no special coffee base could be tasted. Neither nutty or fruity side. Total $21.4. Table and seats were comfortable for log. chat with families and friends.

Most amazing low gluten / gluten free pancakes I’ve had in a very long time! Even had its own menu so no confusion on what I could and couldn’t eat. Staff were so lovely and service was quick. Also had freshly brewed tea that came with a strainer and was super authentic and overall a 10/10 experience. If in Melbourne I really recommend coming here for a breakfast plus it’s in a shopping centre so the day only just begins!!

Had a big craving for pancakes but also savoury so I got myself bacon and eggs dish that came with a short stack. I really wanted additional walnuts, which aren't available anymore, sadly. But Deb was a lovely waiter that was patient with my fumbling for my order an suggested crushed pistachios, they were very tasty on my pancakes. Forever love pancake parlor, ever since I was a kid.

I loved the Mexican crepes combo (one crepe was chicken, while the other was beef) and the pancakes. The Mexican crepes were full of flavour, while the pancakes were fluffy and sweet. The atmosphere was also nice, as the seats were comfortable and the restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing - it gives off a nature/earthy appearance.

Amazing food and even better service! Got the big country breakfast with one of the chicken crepes. We also got one sweet crepe. The staff was amazing, very friendly and have excellent customer service skills. I accidentally forgot to tell them to get the sweet crepe later after the mains but then later on, once it came, I asked if they could put it in the fridge for a bit to slow down the ice cream from melting however, they just offered to make a new one once I was ready. Truly exceptional way to treat your customers. All the food was amazing, especially the sweet treats here, never fail to hit. To top it all off, I just did the spin and the wheel on their app while waiting for my food and got 50% off my total bill, incredible!

RMB Cafe Bar is a bustling spot located on the corner of Degraves and Flinders Lane in Melbourne. The cafe offers a dose of old-fashioned hospitality with its pavement tables, where you can enjoy artisan coffee, breakfast, and global comfort food while watching the city go by. The menu features delightful options like goat cheese omelette and French toast with bacon and grilled banana topped with maple syrup. Despite being an older-style cafe, it exudes charm and coziness without feeling cramped.
🍌French Toast🍌 💥RMB Cafe💥 . Two thick and fluffy slices of bread dipped in cinnamon egg wash, bacon and grilled banana, topped with maple syrup. While down for the Grand Prix we had walked past this cafe thats on the corner of Degraves and Flinders lane every day. So on the monday morning after the race we all had brunch after checking out. I went for their French toast whoch sounded pretty nice which it surely was. Degraves has many hidden gems. Also had 2 types of pancakes which were delicious

Keep eyes open when paying your bill! We had a lovely day and decided to go for snack in the late afternoon. Service was very good and guy was friendly. Five stars to him. Atmosphere was buzzing as it was busy time during Australia open. But when I went to pay the bill by cash and asked for discrepancy, I have been told they have surcharges on weekend!!!??? Even so, you would expect 10% but not 15% or 20% surcharge. Are we in America!? Not happy and don't think we shall return there.
Nina M — Google review
This is an older style cafe that occupies a prime corner position on bustling Degraves St. It has friendly spruikers outside which I found kind of cute and not at all annoying. I found myself immediately liking the place. It’s small but you don’t feel cramped in the slightest. It’s a little noisy but nice noisy not annoying noisy. It’s old style for sure. Maybe 80s or early 90s but again it all sort of fits together nicely somehow. To complete the picture, they were playing endearingly daggy music on the stereo today. Retro plus. No hip hop on here. I think I heard showtunes at one point. I started with a long black which was quite good, certainly better than I’d anticipated. It was slightly bitter, but certainly rich, dark and substantive. I liked it. I hadn’t planned on eating but I liked the sound of the soup of the day, a minestrone, and quickly changed my mind. Again, against all expectations I found this was an absolutely delicious minestrone. It was a generous serve and very very tasty. It had heaps of flavour and plenty of veggies. The melted parmesan also added to my overall delight. The dish also came with a very generous serve of Turkish bread too. It was a terrific little meal. I think I’d rank it as the best minestrone I’ve since I used to get them from Maria’s in North Melbourne many years ago. This was a lovely fun little stop. I had my doubts about the current 3.9 Zomato rating but the doubts were quickly dispelled. Recommended.

Expensive price for mediocre food. I got 2 slices of french toast (inc. banana and bacon) for $17.50. And my friend got Eggs Benedict for $19. Both were mediocre. Filling but due to quantity not quality. The chai was $5 and ok. Very thick and creamy. It's a little hyped I think because of its location. Service was good (ish). Super accomodating when we wanted to move inside away from the smoker on the table next to us. But when paying the waitress kept asking for 80c 4 times even though we told her over and over we only had a $50 and she acted like it was a whole issue.
Michelle L — Google review
Although this bar is placed in the fantastic location, we did not enjoy the bar. Food was too expensive for the quality they offered. I ordered a salad, where I unfortunatelly found many little bugs on the green leaves. This does not make me feel well, when I have to watch the wild life of insect right in my plate. Location was great, but the bar is maybe better just for sitting, drinking a coffee and enjoying the Melbourne athmosphere 🙂.
Klara S — Google review
What! AUD 21.5 for 2 thin pieces of pancakes with few chunks of bananas. The pancakes were dried and hard. The taste had nothing extraordinary. Too much overpriced. The pumpkin soup charged $12. As much as price is concerned, it's ok but the taste wasn't appealing. The consistency was just thick as against 'creamy' as written on the menu. Very disappointing.

Good find on a cold night, not only outdoor tables but the inside seating was warm and cosy. No loud music as other reviewers described. We ordered the Paella and chicken risotto and were pleased with the food. The steaks in the next table were full and thick - for next time :) staff were pleasant and service was prompt. The menu was global indeed with good selection of food and drink.

Cafe Issus is a charming and cozy spot located in the bustling area of Centre Place. It offers a great atmosphere for enjoying coffee and light bites, with the option to sit outside and indulge in some people-watching. One of its highlights is the delicious soup, particularly the pumpkin and potato varieties served with perfectly toasted bread topped with garlic butter. The cafe also prides itself on fast and friendly service, along with excellent coffee featuring a thick foam topping cappuccinos.
Cafe Issu is an excellent choice for breakfast lovers. The Eggs Benedict are outstanding – perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented on a thoughtfully decorated plate. Every detail seems well-considered, from the quality of the ingredients to the appealing presentation. The cappuccino was also a delight, smooth and perfectly balanced. Service is both quick and genuinely friendly, which adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere. A great place to start your day – highly recommended!

I love Issus cafe for multiple reasons and I am a regular here. If I could go everyday I would. I always recommend this place to friends. The staff are amazing (they are always smiling and welcoming). I’ve never been disappointed here. Some of the staff like Jo’ continuously make me happy ((And they tend to know my regular order (haha my wine upon sitting ;) ) and if there’s ever anything new on the menu, or I’m indecisive/ want to try something different, they are always so kind, chill and helpful <3! Besides the awesome, relaxing atmosphere, the food and drinks are incredible. For newcomers, I highly recommend the Eggs Jackie Chan 😃! You never have to wait long, and if you’re in a rush in the city, the soup and wine deal is awesome. The prices are fair and everything is always fresh, flavourful, (portions are great!) and at perfect temperature when served. So yummy! I get flustered when I’m not able to make it there during their opening times. For if they were still open during evenings, I’d for sure 1000% be there :D Visit, visit, visit! There is complimentary tasty dishes for everyone of all diets 😊❤️💕

Cafe situated in one of Melbourne’s most famous laneways. The ambiance is pretty good and the staff is so friendly. Had breakfast and cappuccino. Both the food and coffee were pretty good. This little cafe is brilliant. We came here especially for the soup, as we wanted to find “THE Soup place”. 10/10 food and drinks with fresh juice and delicious soup. Fantastic place to go for dinner. The food was top notch and the portion sizes were decent. Noteworthy dishes were the margarita pizza and the chicken schnitzel and roast potato dish. The service was good as was the atmosphere. My only reservation is that all mains other than pizzas, were around $35-40 for basic mains, which is a little pricey.

The Honduras gesha (servdled in Kona $14) was the best coffee we have ever had. It is light and complex, fruity and has an incredible aftertaste. The barista expertly measures the beans to the milligram and tastes every brew. The Guatemala filter ($6) had a nice sour fruit aftertaste to it and was much stronger than the incredible Honduras. Best coffee ever. Limited seating though.

Located on the opposite side of the Brunetti store, usually with a long queue since they have pretty good coffee. They have plenty of beans options but there wasn’t any consultation or introduction about the different bean options they have for my first time purchase, even the second. Only the third time I was too curious so I asked, then i know they have such variety. They also have different pastries options to pair w the coffee but i haven’t tried. Love the vibe, very cosy. #Michellegoescafe

beautiful little hidden place, staff were nice and i appreciate them taking in to consideration the little time we had to eat during the lunch hour, we go the chicken salad, the risotto and the steak sandwich. 0 completes was delicious and not ridiculously priced especially the steak sandwich which was scotch fillet! very good job

South of Johnston is very good, it’s just south of perfect. Dirk and I stopped in to get a quick bite before resuming our 60km trail run through inner east Melbourne. Everything was pretty good but on this particular day the staff seemed a bit indifferent, bordering on contemptuous. Not all of them, but enough that we felt slightly unwelcome. Food decent but slightly overpriced. All in all pretty good.

What a delightful place I discovered today. I've been missing out. Flowers, plants and art everywhere & sunny courtyard. I enjoyed a lovely chai served in a gorgeous silver teapot and proppa cup&saucer, and a toastie- I'd never have thought to put these ingredients together - broccoli, bechamel & Gruyere - it was surprisingly delicious 😋

Really varied menu, which is really nice! Very friendly staff. Food took a very long time to come out, which was weird because we only bought sandwiches. And unfortunately it meant it was impossible to not notice how loud the place is. You can forgive some noise, especially when the place is quite busy but people are just yelling over to each other behind the counter and with the sound of clattering plates, it’s just a bit nightmarish if you’re sensitive to loud noises. Food was very good when we got it. Coffee was decent :) I’m glad I visited. The decor is nice. But for the sound, I probably wouldn’t come back, personally. But if loud noises aren’t such a dealbreaker for you, it’s nice. Maybe would recommend sitting outside if it’s nice, only so the sound isn’t so taxing.

I adore SoJo, it is legendary in my mind and in the local artsy community. I have been going there for years. You can tell it's a love project, but also a smart one. They are always busy, and it's impossible to get a park but it's excellent! Great atmosphere, lovely interior design (the loos are beautiful!). Somehow dark and warm, cool and beautiful. There's a gorgeous fireplace, deep in the cavern-like space, with many seating options including couches, booth seating and tables inside and out. Most importantly they have excellent food – made with care and not just the same as every other place in Melbourne! My favourite thing about them it they are the only place that does a proper pot of tea – in a silver tea pot with porcelain cup and everything. Love it!

Matcha Mylkbar is a renowned vegan eatery in Melbourne, known for its picturesque plant-based meals, desserts, and smoothies that feature the key ingredient: matcha. With over 75,000 Instagram followers and features in popular media outlets like Buzzfeed and Refinery29, it's no surprise that this St Kilda gem has gained widespread attention.
This is a vegan heaven. Matcha Burger was really tasty. I also ordered charcoal latte and it was a very refreshing take on coffee. Serving, food quality and value for money is excellent. As there is a limited space, expect some waiting time to be seated. My friends and I visited the place on a weekend so it was packed with customers. The location is a very busy spot with just a few steps away from Luna Park.

My Frist time at a vegan place as I'm not vegan myself, but U was very satisfied with my big breakfast. The vegan bacon blew my mind and the vegan eggs looked and felt just like real eggs, but tasted a little odd for my liking. Fantastic variety on the type of drinks they offer as well.

First impressions, for someone who’s a non vegan/vegetarian, this menu excited me! Yes, this place is overpriced but the food was delicious so I didn’t mind paying. Service could be better, staff were not attentive and we had to flagged them down a few times. Even to get a table, it took a little while to get seated while a couple pushed passed and helped themselves to a table. The server we got didn’t know the menu when I asked for recommendations/suggestions. Smoothie we ordered came in a broken glass (as pictured) and the server we asked to get the glass changed didn’t even apologise. $1 for a dollop tomato relish. The burger with curly fries was yummy and maybe I’ll come back for it.

This place serves brunch and takeaway coffees on a busy intersection in the St Kilda beach area. Matcha Pancakes although generous in serving, the batter felt heavy and dry. Fried Chicken was pretty good, too bad the chips were soggy and the Mac & cheese lacked seasoning. Food - 4 Service - 6 Vibe - 6 Price - $$

Love the concept and idea of a fully vegan cafe! I’m not a vegan myself but Matcha Mylkbar made me push myself out of my comfort zone. The cafe itself is super aesthetic, lovely interior. The girls who worked there are nice but aren’t the most attentive, was standing by the counter waiting to order for 5 minutes but no one noticed me. The food was alright, nothing amazing. Did wish they would be served to us a little warmer, received almost cold food. Furthermore, they got one of our drink orders wrong. Biscoff latte didn’t taste like much, was way overpriced for what it is. Matcha latte was very weak, barely any matcha flavour and the Apple Pie “latte” turned out to not have any milk, tasted like a warm apple juice - very unimpressed by this. Also very expensive for what it is. The fried chicken burger was good, not too big and came with a generous serve of chips. The Popcorn chicken was made out of jackfruit, nice and tasty! Though the fried cauliflower was what stood out to me. Sweet potato fries were very well seasoned too. 📷 Matcha Latte (warm) with soy milk, Apple Pie Latte, Almond Butter Cacao Latte, Biscoff Latte, Popcorn Chicken Tray with sweet potato fries, The Fried Chicken Burger with curly fries.

Great presentation atmosphere and location. But I must have misunderstood the menu: the açai bowl was fruit a spoon of peanut butter not even mixed in and an icy chocolate paste super sweet to the point where I couldn’t eat it. The almond drink was also way too sweet. It was like I was having desert in the morning maybe some like that. I’ll try other items next time

Lux Foundry is a trendy cafe located in a heritage-listed warehouse in Brunswick, offering a fancy breakfast and global lunch menu. The distressed interior adds to the hip atmosphere of the place. It's also dog-friendly, with an expansive courtyard for patrons to enjoy breakfast with their furry friends. The menu features hearty and delicious items such as crab chilli scrambled eggs, passionfruit & ricotta hotcakes, and corn & manchego croquette.
Food is always beautiful here. Service is really good location and staff are friendly. They have lots of heaters outside for colder days which is great!! Highly recommend this place. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu!!

Such a cool cafe situated in Brunswick. Plenty of outdoor seating and lots of options for food on the menu. We got the prawn and chorizo chilli scrambled eggs, pulled pork eggs benedict and the persian eggs. They were delicious and very good portion! However flat white coffee was average, a bit weak for my liking.

ux Foundry is a fantastic café with a warm, inviting atmosphere and plenty of space, including a lovely outdoor area that’s perfect on a sunny day. The coffee is consistently excellent, and the menu offers a great variety of well-prepared brunch options with fresh ingredients. Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get quite busy on weekends, so expect a bit of a wait. Overall, a solid local favourite — I’d happily return.

Busy Sunday brunch, there is plenty outdoor seating, on a beautiful day it would be lovely to dine outside. Food was good but nothing crazy outstanding, portions small for price point. I do not recommend the mont blanc drink though.

I had a pancake craving when passing through the area and I wasn't disappointed after trying the delicious apple crumble hot cake. The menu's sweet and savoury variety is really good and I loved the greenery throughout the space, both indoors and outdoors. I'll be back!

Very tasty upmarket cafe food. A bit pricey, but nothing disappointing on the menu. Surprisingly not too noisy considering the number of people inside.

I took my friend out for lunch, and we both thoroughly enjoyed this spot. It has a cool, vibrant atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the surroundings while savoring some food and drinks. The poke bowl and Mont Blanc coffee were a highlight for me, while my friend absolutely loved her tacos. It's a fantastic place to visit, though parking can be a bit challenging.

What a lovely experience me and my family had here! The staff were delightful and attentive. There were 12 of us and we all ate together while we ordered. The coffee was delicious and the environment was bright and spacious and not very noisy. Parking can be a little hard but next door, at the shopping centre it’s $4 per hour after the first hour (which is free). I had the lobster roll (the name escapes me) with fries and aioli. I will be returning!

Had a lovely brunch at AU79! The coffee was smooth and the pastries were fresh and delicious. The tiramisu and basque cheesecake were both a hit—light, creamy, and not too sweet. Beautiful setup, great vibes, and friendly service. Will definitely be back! ☕🍰🥐✨

The sheer size of this cafe is the standout feature here. Lot of airy space with a slightly gilded maximalist design aesthetic that isn't too overwhelming. The location, close to the Hive, feels just tucked away far enough from the occasional chaos on Victoria Street. The range of food is somewhat playfully bougie but well worth it. The late breakfast offering with specialist Mork hot chocolate was certainly appreciated. The only thing missing was Livenpay wasn't available, but that tends to be par for the course. As I currently suffer some dizziness the benches near the entrance are also highly welcome.

Nice cosy interiors with lots of space. We tried the kimchi scrambled eggs and turkish eggs and both were really nice. There are some innovative items on the menu like prawn benedict that I will try next time. They also have a coffee roasting service so the beans are worth a try for the coffee afficianados. Extra points for the service and a nice gesture by the staff on Sunday afternoon to share a cookie with my son.

Monk Bodhi Dharma is a bustling micro-roastery in Melbourne known for its innovative vegan dishes and specialty coffee. The cafe focuses on ethically sourcing coffee and maintaining a sustainable menu by working closely with farmers and suppliers. It has expanded over the years, establishing its own roasting network with Disciple Roasters and operating three different caffeine outposts across Melbourne. The cafe's elusive location adds to its charm, tucked away in an alleyway off Carlisle Street Balaclava.
Amazing vegetarian brunch. We had great coffee, bowls and juice in cool warehouse surrounds. Friendly staff and customers. We had the zucchini hotcakes, chickpea tofu, pumpkin avo smash and great coffee, chai and freshly squeezed juice. Felt Very Melbourne!

Absolutely loved this cafe! The vibe of the place is super relaxing and welcoming. Their signature chai was insanely good - it’s officially the best chai I’ve had. The food was super yummy - felt healthy, hearty and wholesome. So many coeliac safe gluten free options too. The staff were all very friendly. It was lovely to see so many regulars - you know a place is good when that’s the case! Wish I lived nearby, I’d definitely be a regular. Highly recommend.

Coffee. Go here for the coffee. Disciple beans, 3 single origins on every day, all incredible. This and disciple in Brunswick are the best places in Melbourne for espresso. Best, hands down. My choice of drink is ristretto or double espresso. But they also have a blend on for milk coffees. Oh and because they use disciple beans, they also do 2-4 different pour over filters or a batch brew for anyone into a smoother drink.

Patisserie
Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, Le Petit Gateau is a beloved patisserie that captures the essence of French baking culture. This contemporary bakery delights locals and visitors alike with its exquisite specialty cakes, airy croissants, and rich chocolate treats crafted fresh each day.
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, this charming cafe offers a delightful taste of Paris. The almond-pistachio croissant is undeniably one of the finest I’ve had, perfectly flaky with just the right balance of nutty sweetness. Paired with a hot chocolate - served with whipped cream on the side. It’s a light and rich indulgence that’s worth the extra cost. However, there is a noticeable safety concern inside the cafe - a step down (seen in the last photo). Despite the staff’s best efforts to warn patrons, there are moments when the cafe is busy. To mitigate any risks, it would be better for the establishment to clearly mark the step, perhaps with a yellow caution tape, to prevent potential accidents. It’s a small adjustment that would enhance the overall experience, ensuring the atmosphere remains as safe as it is inviting.

One of our new favourite places in Melbourne to enjoy French patisseries. High quality cakes ( full size and minis), slices and beads. There is seating inside to enjoy the food and excellent coffee and other drinks. Best to order wanting to take away.

Really feeling like something sweet and maybe a bit chocolatey so headed to RACV @LePetitGateauMelb for the black forrest: Two layers of chocolate sponge surrounding a vanilla mousse with guinette cherries all enveloped with a dark chocolate mousse, topped with vanilla Chantilly cream pebbles. One fork full and I'm in my happy place. Delicious flavours and textures. There's the soft crack of the thin tempered chocolate surrounding the bottom of the base, the smooth dark chocolate mousse giving a nice brooding flavour, the slightly sour and tart cherries, a slight alcohol kick from the Chantilly cream, the soft light sponge and the creamy vanilla mousse. Each bite is savoured as time stands still. Totally satisfying. #dessert #sweettooth #blackforrest #chocolate #sponge #mousse #cherries #Foodie #melbournefood #melbournecbd

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Ordered a birthday cake here for a special person two months ago and wanted to leave a positive review! They require a day's notice for an order of one of their amazing cakes. They charged about $5 for the customised message as well. The black forest cake was delicious, they have a nice seating arrangement inside if people wanted to stop by to have a drink and dessert too. Thanks for the fancy cake Le Petit! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ
The C — Google review
I’ve been a loyal customer of Le Petit Gateau for years and have always ordered my birthday cakes here. However, today’s experience was deeply disappointing. I was suddenly charged an extra $5 for the chocolate plaque — something that has always been complimentary in all my past orders. There was no notice about this change either online or in-store. When I questioned it and even showed my previous receipts, the staff’s response was dismissive and unprofessional, asking if I wanted to repay the $5 they hadn’t charged me before. The issue isn’t the amount — it’s the lack of transparency and respect for returning customers. Had this been clearly stated, I would have had no issue paying it. Sadly, this experience has made me lose confidence in a place I once trusted and recommended.

The bustling dog-friendly courtyard and appealing drink specials make it a great spot for gathering and enjoying good conversation over hearty bites.
Really lives up to the Top 5 burgers in Melbourne. Whilst I consider potato martin buns to be the criteria for this ranking, their brioche buns that are slightly charred works perfectly with their textured and juicy beef patties and fried chicken patty. Great tenders but the burgers is where it’s at.
Mel B — Google review
Lovely spot for a date night or to go play some pool, atmosphere was very nice and service great, even too fast! I was looking forward to their burgers because of a friend recommendation. We tried the beef burger which I found it very dry and below average, while I enjoyed quite much the chicken one, very tasty. My absolute favorite were the poutine fries though, would be back just for those. I was rather surprised they have only wood cutlery and no plates at all, which rendered rather hard to share as burgers are served in the paper containers. Overall it wasn’t bad but neither as I expected. May go back to a redeem for their burgers and perhaps to spend a little more time in their nice indoor area.

A tucked away place that felt like back home. We made the right decision by ordering three 'mains' to share between the two of us, and even then I was debating adding on their poutine and pie of the day. I'm still salivating and wanting more because the burger bun was perfect and the chicken strips were juicy and the drinks came as quick as we ordered them. The pool table was free to play on a Monday night and the music fit the vibe. Sit by the fire, the bar, the back room, or the two patios outside for whatever you're after. I loved it.

I come here quite often and have always loved it (the chicken is bangin). But the last time the short curly haired woman was so incredibly rude . Not only did I see her talking poorly to staff , she also refused to let us keep the heater on - even though it was late in the evening . It was only me and my 4 friends in the area and I was freezing . She marched over , turned it off and told us it was too warm for the heater , when I said I was cold she told me to move inside, it’s not all about me , and other people are wearing T-shirts . There was literally no other people in the area (see photo) . The group of 4 of us ended up leaving after our drink finished instead of staying for a few more as planned . Why be so awful ? How expensive is gas ? This is my friends local spot (goes a couple of times a week) and said she’s been rude to his mates other occasions too…. It’s a real vibe ruiner for such a cool spot .

Waffle On is a popular hidden gem known for its French baguettes and traditional Belgian waffles. Located near Degraves Street, this cozy takeaway spot uses old-fashioned methods to create their delicious treats. The waffles are toasted and can be topped with whipped cream, jam, Nutella, or maple syrup. Customers rave about the roast beef baguette, which is described as huge, fresh, and flavorful.
The baguette here is always so consistently delicious whenever we visit. We travel 150km from the city just to have this baguette for brunch since it's actually so good. I always get the 'Le Fermer' and add brie cheese to it which makes it flavourful. The chicken breast isn't dry and the mayonnaise that goes with the baguette sandwich is really good. Will try the waffles next time.
Maricris H — Google review
Venturing back to one of the first venues I visited when I first holidayed in Melbourne, @WaffleOnMelbourne. I was here for the waffles but was highly recommended the baguettes so went with the roast beef with the addition of brie. The French guy makes his own bread and it shows. Crispy on the outside, light and flaky, soft on the inside, butter, generously filled with delicious roast beef, salad, tomatoes, mustard, mayo, pickles for acidity, and sandwiching this is rich, creamy, unctuous Brie. Yum! What a combination and I can see why there is a constant queue lining up for this. Then for the waffles. They're not made then and there but were made fresh earlier in the day and then warmed up. I chose a variety with ice cream and maple syrup. Thick, light, with plenty of nooks and crannies for the melting ice cream and maple syrup to nestle into, this was really enjoyable for a small hole in the wall eatery. Great service and a lovely lunch offering with sweet treats to boot. #FrenchFood #lunch #baguette #roastbeef #brie #mayo #pickles #mustard #waffle #icecream #maplesyrup #dessert #sweettooth #Foodie #melbournefood #melbournecbd

Really great baguette! Simple but delicious. Really good ham and cheese, and the bread was still warm. Great value. Nice fellas behind the counter too. Great start to our late morning, fuelled up and ready to hit the city. Have walked past this place a thousand times and never realised that baguettes were their thing. Big signage about the waffles, which isn't my thing. But a really good baguette with fresh bread is a win.

Ordered the waffle and the roast beef baguette for takeaway located on Degraves St next to the subway entrance to Flinders station. The waffle was premade but they reheat it so it's nice and toasty. It was soft with a brioche-like texture and not too sweet; pretty good and definitely would be even better with some toppings. The roast beef was very tender and delicious with the creamy mayo and mustard and the pickles added a nice acidity to balance the flavours. Baguette was fresh and easy to bite off; it is a softer type of baguette without the crunchy exterior. Overall enjoyed the food.

This cafe is a popular spot for sweet and savoury crepes, withoptions including strawberry and mango ice creams. The customer service is attentive and lively, and the prices are very affordable. The wait times can be long at times, but it's well worth it for such amazing food!
Dropped in for crepes and they delivered great treats! We went for the matcha and pudding flavours, both hit the spot. Matcha ice cream with some red bean and a matcha wrap were great combination.

Decent location for crepes. The filling was yummy tho the shells were a bit too chewy. The ice cream were a little too sweet for my taste, so if you have a sweet tooth, definitely visit.
Phuc P — Google review
Harajuku Crepes was a fun stop! I tried the Banana Pocky crepe — it was really tasty and fresh. The crepe batter itself tasted great, not too sweet, which I really liked. Lots of cool options to choose from. The only downside is the filling wasn’t all the way through, so it felt a bit empty near the end. Still a yummy treat and worth trying if you’re in the city!
Candra P — Google review
Must must must visit this place. I pay pilgrimage to this place every time I am in Melbourne and I will come almost every night. The crepes are made on the spot after you placed your order. There is always a queue regardless of the time of the day. Just have to wait patiently. The queue moves quickly.
Joaquim U — Google review
Very busy place, got the strawberry and Nutella, was tasty but basic, great stop if you want some crepes before the next drinking stop or if your partner wants a sweet treat.
Sam B — Google review
I ordered the Nutella Banana Crepe, and I was extremely disappointed. The amount of Nutella added was minimal, like they just scooped a tiny bit from an empty jar. There was no Nutella flavor at all; it was like eating just the crepe itself. It felt like a complete scam to customers. They clearly cut corners to save costs and didn’t provide a reasonable amount of Nutella. Absolutely terrible! I won’t be coming back.
Karry L — Google review
Hands down one of my favourite dessert places in Melbourne. I come here every time I get a chance and it NEVER disappoints. Fresh fruits, fresh cream, and yummy ice cream. It does get busy sometimes and with only 3 tables so be prepared to take your crepe away but you can enjoy it across the road infront of the State Library.
Trish — Google review
Pricey, but it was worth a try! Limited seating outdoors only and the wait can be long when it gets busy. Would recommend spending more to get more toppings and flavour.

Rowena Corner Store is a charming cafe with a vintage vibe that offers a mix of breakfast, burgers, and Greek dishes. Originally a milk bar, it has transformed into one of the most delightful cafes in the neighborhood. The menu features Mediterranean-style dishes alongside standard fare. The ambiance is described as peaceful yet bustling, especially during Sunday brunch hours. Visitors praise the friendly service and quick food delivery despite the cafe's busyness.
Delicious and interesting vegetarian options. Thank you! Flavour was amazing but a little flat and creamy/oily overall. Could use a little more chilli or citrus to brighten the palate.
Muggle C — Google review
Fresh, vibrant, and hearty food, but service leaves room for improvement. We visited on a weekend and although the place was busy, the wait time was reasonable—around 15–20 minutes. The Mediterranean brekky plate and the pumpkin hummus bowl were both satisfying and well-prepared, definitely above average in terms of flavor and presentation. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. A simple request to swap poached eggs for scrambled—an option listed on the menu—was curtly declined, which left a sour note. The coffee was also underwhelming and didn’t quite meet expectations. On a brighter note, the café’s exterior is eye-catching and inviting. With some improvements in customer service and coffee, this place could be a standout.
Animesh S — Google review
The HELTA is honestly the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten. It was so good. Haloumi, egg, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Eating it was a messy business but so worth it. Coffee was good too. I love the vibe in this cafe. It feels really homey. But beware it is incredibly busy on weekends. You might have to wait in a queue outside before you get a seat. There is also a weekend surcharge and so I ended up paying $29 for a sandwich and a coffee, which I thought was kind of expensive. But also, the sandwich was delightful so maybe worth it. Idk.

Loving this cafe. Cozy and charming with great service and delicious food. I had a dirty chai and the kaski, which was SO tasty. Reminded me of Turkish shakshuka but dare I say, even better. And the GF toast was incredible. I almost don't believe it's GF.

Get atmosphere and vibes, great coffee and great ham and cheese croissant 🫡 service could be slightly better
Katie W — Google review
A colleague recommended this place but it was Monday, so we had to visit a different day. The place was already bustling with diners but we were lucky to score the round table. The menu has a Greek influence as well as all the standard fare. My Pumpkin Hummus Bowl with Falafel and toasted pita bread was wholesome, fresh and satisfying. The goats cheese added to the creaminess of the dish, while pumpkin crisps gave it added texture. My colleagues enjoyed their lamb Kofta plate and Benedict style sandwich. Efficient and friendly service throughout the visit. The decor has a retro grocery store feel about it with the high wall of delicacies for the pantry. A fantastic neighbourhood gem definitely with revisiting.

Lovely food, nice coffee and friendly staff! What more can you ask for right? 😋 We were there setting outside with our puppies and it was lovely just to watch the world go by. Pricing was respectable too. Can get really busy too.

This neighborhood cafe is such a treat! Their mocha and almond croissant are delicious! People here are very warm and welcoming too, they make it a point to chat with you. The almond croissant is super fresh and one of the better ones I’ve had in Melbourne for sure! On a weekend, this place gets really packed. Rowena is definitely a favorite of mine in this beautiful neighborhood!

"The Little Denn" is a charming café nestled in the heart of Melbourne. Located on Central Place, this cozy spot offers a delightful culinary experience and friendly service. Visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, from wraps to aromatic Melbourne flat whites. The café's inviting atmosphere, complete with interesting books to peruse, makes it an ideal place to unwind and savor the flavors of Melbourne.
This cute little place is hiding in plain sight among quite a few tourist trap places in central Melbourne. The atmosphere is great, full of interesting books your read while drinking your aromatic Melbourne flat white. The best part is that the food was as good as the flat white!

Always nice to visit the little cafe in and around Melbourne. Central Place is one of those eclectic narrow and short streets that brings you bang for your buck and for your culinary tastes. I’ve had mostly takeaway from Little Denn but had a sit down coffee this time. The guy serving was lovely and quite friendly and chatty to all his customers. The food looked fabulous so grabbed a wrap also for lunch. The breakfasts being served were sumptuous and next visit I’ll have to put aside time to have the haloumi chips which I hear great reports about. Although seating is limited inside, its cosy and warm and funky. As the rain came down outside it was a little dry haven. Like the crockery and the books and everything about this place. Notes: very suitable for vegans and vegetarians, restaurant isn’t really wheelchair friendly if you want to dine in, kid friendly and takeaway available.

Create new cafe in Melbourne's Centre Place. Amazing selection of teas, chai and coffee... First place I've been in Melbourne with multiple different chai teas. Today I tried the chocolate chai, loved it. They also have sweet and savoury choices, this is going to be my new lunch haunt it seems. Great service, very friendly. Check it out.
George F — Google review
A classic Indian Chai joint is what we miss a lot since coming to Melbourne. The typical power based chai latte in coffee shops misses the authenticity and aroma from the Indian spices. We accidentally walked into this place on the way somewhere else and were positively surprised. It is a cute little place hidden in the laneway. The owner uses spices directly imported from India. It comes in many different flavours as well. Its Chai is more an upmarket version, but very authentic. A cup of warm chai during cold winter days in Melbourne is such a great treat.

Hands down the greatest place in Melbourne! Amazing charisma, and food to match! Arguably a happier place than Disney Land!! Working my way through the menu and it just gets better and better! Not to mention the coffee and their delicious home made chai! Do yourself a favour, just give it a crack, you will not be disappointed!!!

Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake is a delightful culinary gem that has captured the hearts of dessert lovers around the world. Founded by Tetsuki Mizokami, who honed his skills in his family's sweet shop from a young age, this brand has expanded its reach across Asia and now delights Australian locals and expats alike. The store offers a few simple yet exquisite variations of their signature cheesecake, which is known for its melt-in-your-mouth softness and fluffy texture.
Amazing stuff. Has these for the first time in Sydney and it's sad that Melbourne doesn't have more locations. The cheesecakes are light fluffy and creaming. Just amazing. The Madeline have the most wonderful honey scent, perfect with a cup of black tea. I also got myself a mango cream crepe, messy to eat so I would recommend sit down and eat it in a bowl with a fork. But it's amazing. None of the desserts are too sweet, just the perfect amount, which is the best compliment for Asian sweets. Definitely give it a try if you are interested in Japanese style sweet. I came at 11:50am and was the first person in line for 12pm opening, worth it seeing the care being put into the making process.
Cecilia L — Google review
If you're into Japanese cheesecake style Ji recommend trying out Uncle Tetsus Japanese cheesecake. The portions are very generous size, so I'd have loved if they sold slices so I could try their different flavours. I end up getting a crepe cheesecake with three flavours: chocolate+mixed berries, mango and Earl Grey (seasonal flavour). The crepes were actually delicious. But because I also wanted to try out their cheesecake I got the original. It's not very sweet and I quite enjoyed it, specifically with a coffee. Their price range is not very cheap I paid around $44 all up.
Etiene C — Google review
Observed a senior staff member showing visible impatience toward a trainee. Food and tools were handled roughly, with gloves touching both food and equipment. At one point, a blowtorch tip went into the cream, then was rinsed under water before reuse. Workflow appeared disorganized and hygiene practices were questionable.
Jiuzhi H — Google review
Loved their cheesecake, it’s soft, not too airy or dense, and doesn’t have that eggy taste some cheesecakes do. I also tried their crème brûlée crepe, which was creamy and packed with strawberry filling and two slices of cheesecake inside. Definitely worth trying at least once!
Zahrah A — Google review
Got crepe brulees ($15.50) with a friend and it was delicious ! The top was freshly blow-torched so the custard below was warm and lovely. The cheesecake piece in the filling was also great as it was fluffy and moist. The crepe itself was so soft,,, overall it combined indulgent sweet tooth satisfaction with a light airiness that made it a great sweet treat to enjoy without being too cloying :D only downside is that it's quite expensive for its size.

We have been going to Uncle Tetsu Japanese cheesecake since 2014, and its amazing taste has been consistent on different continents. Very fast turnaround, friendly staff, and astonishing cheesecakes. Words definitely cannot do justice to describe the amazing taste profile and quality of this cheesecake. I highly recommend it to everyone

Had the limited edition earl Gray and honey cheesecake. It was smaller than the original, but for the same price. Not sure why. The taste was nothing extravagant. Obvious taste of honey and earl Gray, but not enticing enough to re-purchase. The cheesecake was very dry, much more than the original. Very hard to enjoy.

I recently revisited for brunch after a few years — the place suddenly came to mind, as I’d once been here with a friend. It was heartwarming to relive those memories. Good was delicious, but a tad on the pricey side for the portion size. Coffee was good and staff were friendly and attentive, even provided some water for my pup. Didn’t get a chance to check out the shop inside but will definitely return for a browse in the future.

Came here this morning for my mum and we got a ryokucha each. I was feeling like a nice warm tea and I like how rich it was, slightly bitter but not overly bitter and it had a smooth texture. It was surprisingly busy but I guess maybe it being a Friday morning makes a difference as well as how popular this spot is. The Japanese grocery store is really cool as well as the exhibits and workshops they hold there, I think you could get great gifts here too. It’s also on the pricier side and I wouldn’t come back here again but it was cool.

Great concept & nice location. There’s a small coffee bar, open plan dining area combined with a small grocery store. When we arrived, there was no table yet. So, the server took our name and let us walk around the store while we wait. Food presentation is great, however taste is just ok in my personal opinion. First photo is the ‘Ultimate’ set with a few more side dish compared to the ‘Traditional’ (vegetarian) set shown on the 2nd photo. 3rd photo is a weekend special of chicken Karage that was on offer at the time of my visit.

I would say this place has a very nice ambience!! love all the details of the designs on the venue itself plus the staff were really nice to me as customer. It was just the food wise that made me disappointed. Taste wise I would say 6/10 which I actually love the vinaigrette? on the salad and the kingfish seasoning itself. But 28$ for this portion? I would think it was not worth it at all and I felt like I spent 28$ for nothing. Kingfish was soooo small, I can tell its not even 100gram :). I would suggest to do a few changes on the food prices…

Convenience store, cafe, work area all in one. Tried the yuzu pound cake, matcha pound cake, and some hot tea this month. All very nice, really can spend the whole afternoon in CIBI working nonstop. I visited this café today and loved the vibe such a lovely place to chill with friends. I ordered the chai orange, which was really good, but what stood out the most was our wonderful staff, Laura. Stepping into Terror Twilght on a wet, bustling Saturday felt like entering a delightful whirlwind, but thankfully, Laura was there to greet us! Despite the flurry of activity and a short wait (which, honestly, just built the anticipation), Laura didn't just take my name, she ingrained it. By the time we left, she not only remembered mine but charmingly extracted my wife's name too – a feat of memory sharper than my morning espresso! The cocktails were so delightful, they practically serenaded us, and the food was so absolutely delicious and generously portioned, we might still be recovering from a happy food coma. Despite the lively atmosphere, service was lightning-fast, leaving us with zero complaints and fully satisfied bellies. We absolutely enjoyed every minute here which has left us eager to return and explore more of that irresistible menu.

A Collingwood fave! The nod to Pavement lured us in all those years ago and we have been back every time we hit Melbourne. Lovely sunlit space, vinyl records, great coffee, with an interesting, ever-changing menu. Special mention to the next level pancakes, of which there have been many incarnations, but these sweet potato & toffee apple compote with chantilly cream might just top ‘em all. Breakfast cocktails available too!

The bakery is particularly known for its old-school country-style doughnuts in flavors like chocolate and strawberry.
CBD bakery is fantastic!! We had to organise a last minute morning tea for work and the staff were incredibly helpful and understanding. The hot cross buns and slices that we ordered were so delicious and really reasonably priced for such high quality. Everyone loved them (even the hot cross bun impartialists). A big big thank you to the team for being so lovely - I would highly recommend CBD bakery!

We were in next building and we went here as it looks like gem. No frills simple bakery serving different pastries, cakes, but more importantly piping hot pies. Do come before lunch time as it can get quite packed during lunch.

I visited CBD Bakery when they took part in the Baking for Brain Cancer even. Each pie sold contributed $1 to the cause, which made the experience even more meaningful. I had a meat pie. It was absolutely delicious — the crust was perfectly flaky, and the filling was rich and comforting. It felt like the kindness of the staff was baked into the pie. It warmed not just my body, but my heart.I imagine they must have baked many pies with great care for this special day. The staff were kind, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. I go to this cafe whenever I am in the office in the city. Service is always quick and the coffee is pretty good. Vanilla Slices are the best pastries they serve. A great catch is the free cinnamon donut between 10-12 with your hot drink. If they forget to give it to you, they do not mind you requesting it. All the staff are always happy and quick to serve. review no. 71 of 2024 (19/6/24) CBD Bakery, Melbourne, Victoria Chicken & Leek pie $8.40 Checked out Melbourne's one and only bakery in the CBD district. The bakery has been there for about 30 years and Tony has been running it for the last 6 years. The second baker in a row that supports the baggers. The presentation of the pie looked nice, it did look a bit shallow though. The lid looked to be baked well, had a small amount of crunch when you bite into the pie and the sides and the base looked to be baked well also. Moving onto the filling the chicken tasted really fresh, nice bite sized pieces, coupled with gravy and leek it complimented each other well. The gravy tasted amazing and wasn't too rich. Had a nice creamy texture on the palate. Seasoned well. The consistency of the filling looked pretty stable. The serving temp was spot on and at a guess the pie would have held up together. This was a really nice tasting pie. It was the 3rd chicken and leek pie i've had so far and ten times better than a Herbert Adams chicken and leek pie ! The price is up there but well worth the price for a gourmet style pie. Coffee's are pretty decent too. The bakery has an indoor dining area & a small outdoor dining area too. 480 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000 #CBDBakery #Melbourne #ChickenandLeek #MeatPie #MeatPieAppreciationGroup For more Meat Pie reviews, join my group on Facebook the Meat Pie Appreciation Group

Gorilla Grill is a hamburger restaurant that offers an eclectic menu, perfect for those who want the food truck feel but with a permanent location. The burgers are quite good, but the fries are not worth mentioning as they are overly cheesy.
This review is bittersweet. I am so happy that I got to try these burgers out before they close their doors forever on the 16/4. The buns are outstanding, yum! And beef patty’s are juicy, full of flavour and thin. $42.50 for all that is shown. King Kong with pickles (right) Chimp, no onions and added bacon (left) If you’re in the area, don’t pass this place up. Try them before they close!

3.5* The burgers were quite good, so no points deducted there. Points deducted on the loaded fries, as it was overly cheesy; and we don't mean that in a good way. We love our cheese, we love our cheesy fries. This cheese in particular just didn't suit the fries and didn't was overwhelming all the other ingredients. Not the best burger joint we've been to, and wouldn't come back due lacking chips and price point.

Trying out a new burger joint. Absolutely a meat fest trying out the King Kong Burger while my friend tried out the Gorilla Burger. 🤤 Overall very good except the beef patty was cooked well-done. Despite that, it was still moist and juicy although I prefer mine to be medium.

Nice burger joint. Has a modern urban style feel. I like the sneakers displayed on the wall. It was quiet when we visited and service was quick. Staff are friendly too. Ordered the Gorilla Burger and the Krusty Burger with Pork Belly. They were priced well and the burgers are well sized. The Krusty Burger is a fried chicken which was nice and juicy, but still definitely crusty. The meat in the Gorilla burger was nice and juicy too. But overall the burgers were tasty without the grease.

Fluffy waffle with crunchy chicken was so delicious. But the sause wasn’t spicy at all. King Kong burger juicy, smoky! Yummy. Will definitely try something else next time.

Not a bad place for a burger. Well presented and very clean. There could be a better drinks menu (nothing beats a good milkshake). The things that let it down - the loaded fries weren't very loaded. Lack of cheese but good amount of bacon. Chicken salt seemed to be used and chicken salt makes anything taste good, so not sure of actual flavor. Beef patty was OK but could be more flavorsome. Good execution. Worth a try.

Great delicious food! The chicken was honestly amazing, crunchy and not oily at all. The cheeseburgers were seasoned well and tasted delicious. The fries were crunchy, lightly salted and perfect! Came for the first time at 12noon on a Sunday. Very busy not many seat available. Was lucky to get a table outside. We anticipated a bit of a wait for our meals, as they had actually run out of table numbers. Someone had to come to our table to confirm the ice coffee order. It came out, looked a bit ordinary, but tasted ok. Waited approximately 35 to 40 minutes for our food. Both meals were great, fish burrito bowl and the double cheeseburger, very tasty. We didn't try the donuts, but they looked fantastic. We would definitely come back.

Hidden spot with such chill vibes!!! They have an outdoor sitting area as well… perfect for those sunny days coming up!!! Everything was delicious! From the burgers to burritos! But I just say I would come back for their fitters and donuts!! I love that they have such a wide variety of fritters which u probs can’t find anywhere else!

Honest and unbiased review, I saw this place pop up on tiktok saying had better burgers than charrd without the wait. It was a good burger and great crispy chips, I got a Double cheeseburger it was a clean but slightly overcooked, it's not exactly charrd flavour although I can see how it would be compared to that, it was enjoyable and would definitely come backt o try the chicken next time. Now is it better than charrd.. they are two different types of burgers, Juanitas has a different distinct flavour, and trust me I would rather wait 10 mins for a burder rather than 2 hours. Charrd is a perfect flavour explosion, but Juanitas is nice.

@juanitapeaches is a neighbourhood diner in Brunswick serving up some of the best burgers, burritos and fried chicken around - and it’s also home to @alldaydonuts. The space has a warm, comfy, 70’s retro vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is stripped-back and no-fuss, simple in choice but definitely not in flavour. Honestly, it’s refreshing not to be overwhelmed with options! 🤗 ⭐ Double Cheeseburger – grass-fed brisket patties, perfectly caramelised, in their own house-made buns. We added hot peppers for an extra kick. You probably don’t need the double, these patties are a great size! One of the tastiest burgers ive ever had.
⭐ Fried Chicken Sandwich – skin-on chicken with next-level crunch. We added pickles, cheese and spice.
➖ Poutine
⭐ Popcorn Chicken – perfection with the pickles and house-made BBQ sauce.
✔️ Vanilla Malt Thickshake
✔️ Strawberry Cheesecake Donut
⭐ Banana Fritter Donut
➖ Iced Chocolate – not overly sweet Melbourne is definitely in the midst of a burger resurgence but this is one of the OG’s - and they’ve still absolutely got it. Packed from midday onwards, which says it all! 👏🏽 ⭐️ 4.7/5 💰 $$

Loses a star for being absolutely freezing. Really cute decor, love the vibe here. Believe the hype about the Chimichanga. It's honestly the BEST I've ever eaten. Very very impressed. Fried chicken batter a bit ordinary. Could use a bit more spice.

Great ambience and nice decor. Unfortunately I am really sorry to say that the food was so underwhelming. Had the fried chicken burger and the fried fish bowl which were flavourless. French fries were nice. Last time I would trust foodie reviews

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! This was an impromptu visit before I had to rush to the airport. The chicken burger was juicy and delicious, while the fries tasted fresh and so crispy - taste was on point! Plus the staff were incredibly nice! To top an already impressive experience off, I had absentmindedly left a recyclable bag at the restaurant and msged them on ig letting them know they could pass it on to one of the staff or someone else. To my surprise, they offered to mail it back to me all the way in Perth (and have!). I am so so thankful - they did not have to do this for me and deserve all the recognition and goodness in the world for it. Thank you so much 😊

Baba Sus is a contemporary cafe with a charming rustic-chic ambiance that serves elevated breakfast and lunch dishes. It's advisable to make reservations in advance, especially on busy days, as the place tends to get packed. The menu offers a unique twist to typical Melbourne breakfast options, featuring delightful fusion of Asian and Western cuisine. Despite its popularity, the prices have remained reasonable. The crispy pork belly comes highly recommended for its generous portion and delectable taste.
Had a lovely breakfast here on a cold morning. It’s in a quiet area and I totally enjoyed it. The congee is delish, just perfect for a cold day.

We have brunch here. It is in a very nice suburb. We love coffee here. We ordered the waffles and the omelette. The omelette flavor is a bit complicated.

Great coffee. Fruit loaf was really good too - nice crusty sourdough with loads of dried fruit. Egg waffle was a bit of a letdown - main issue is that the custard was split and very grainy. Green tea ice cream was delicious - a good strong green tea flavour. Overall found the food to be around a 3.8/5.

Travelled half an hour to have brunch today and it was worth it. All the items ordered were exceptional. From that yuzu ginger tea to the congee. Man that yuzu ginger tea really packed a punch. Prices are appropriate. I will make the travel again to come back here.

Been coming here on and off for a number of years. The menu hasn't changed too much over the years, the staples like the bao and pork dishes being the same. My latest visit was fantastic. The crispy pork (The Baba sus) was cooked to perfection. Crispy pork skin and super juicy tender meat. Looks like they've levelled up their coffee too! Keep it up guys!

If you like something different that standard “modern” cafe , Baba Sus did not disappoint! You need to try their crispy pork belly!! Just look at the photos that I posted. Hig portion too. We also ordered the omelette, so yummy. I have been so many cafes and lately they offered similar food OR the portions are too small 😄 We will definitely come back.

Adding to my original review: Congratulations to new owner Steve, and thank you so much to you and your team for my delicious biscoff bowl, snickers protein smoothie, and almond milk latte. Everything was absolutely perfect and you made my day! Thank you for being so welcoming. With my very best wishes for your new business, and I will see you again soon. 😊 Thank you so much to Brittany and team for a wonderful experience. Delicious food and coffee, and fantastic customer service! It was great to be able to order online. A big thank you also to Sam Carson, General Manager, for being so responsive and helpful. Sam provided exceptional customer service in a very timely manner. It was so greatly appreciated. Açai Brothers is highly recommended! 😊

Absolutely disastrous Açai bros morning purchase… Completely regrettable Açai bros disaster… The $16 peanut butter bowl was displayed/advertised to us in the shop as a much larger container than what was ultimately provided- which turned out to be a micro cup, loaded with the contents of what would be in any other circumstance a well below average sized açai bowl considering the price… It was explained to us that they were “using old stock” when providing us a smaller vessel, which had the appearance of being smaller, but had allegedly the “same volume”. The ‘Bowl’ which quite frankly resembled more of a ‘Cup’ was so small that the açai was rendered completely inaccessible, until all of the toppings had been consumed off the top. Mouthfuls of straight peanut butter, mushy banana, dry granola. All that to finally get to the açai which tasted more like banana than the acclaimed berry. If only the ‘Bowl’ was a reasonable size, then maybe there would have been the option to sir all the contents together to create a more enjoyable Açai bros experience, but it pains me to say we will not be returning.

Best açai bowl (berry) I’ve ever had and a really good coffee for only $3!!! The guy who served me (I think he’s the owner) was really friendly and helpful. It will be my new regular go to place in Port Melbourne for breakfast.
Jason B — Google review
Having an issue with my tooth so what better excuse than a liquid diet to eat excessive amounts of açai. Thankyou Açai Bros for making this painful time absolutely delicious New Now that the weather has finally come to the party I find myself here with alarming regularity. A few competitors have popped up in the surrounds and I’ve tried them but in my opinion Açai Bros retains the winning formula Most recent Hubs asked me what I wanted for brunch on my birthday and I couldn’t deny my craving even though it was not very celebratory. What can I say it’s delicious and it makes me happy Recent Redeemed a whole heap of my lockdown points for an original bowl and a coffee for hubby. I don’t want to know what that means in terms of how much I have spent on smoothies but at least you actually get something in return for your loyalty Latest We’ve recently moved bayside which has opened up a whole host of other smoothie bowl cafes to my tastebuds however I consistently come back to Açai bros as the best in the biz. The taste of their actual açai blend is just superior and I like the options to pick your fruits in a standard bowl Further update I tried making my own açai bowl and it was like soup. I had another attempt and whilst the consistency was better it just wasn’t the same, straight back to Açai Bros! Utterly delicious, no one does it better
Foodie M — Google review
I just had a peanut butter açai bowl and realised that there are new owners as the recipe is different. The old açai recipe was better (smoother and better flavour). The old peanut butter was also better. I hope the recipe improves as the new owners settle in :)

Fresh Air & Pancake is a cozy eatery that serves up innovative soufflés and Japanese-style pancakes in a laid-back setting. Indulge in their light and airy souffle pancakes available in various flavors such as fresh strawberry, matcha and red bean, lychee, chocolate Pocky, and more. If you're not in the mood for souffle pancakes, you can opt for creme brulee or dorayaki.
Tried Fresh Air Pancake and absolutely loved it! The soufflé pancakes are super soft and fluffy — we had the Cookie & Cream with a big Oreo and ice cream, and the new green grape flavor which came with lots of real, fresh grapes. You can watch the whole cooking process, which made it feel clean and trustworthy. The space is bright and welcoming, and the staff were lovely too. Will definitely come back to try more flavors!

Yum! Just the right amount of sweetness, extremely light and easy to eat. Took about ten minutes before it was ready which I think is pretty quick for these kinds of pancakes! Walked past here many times and stopped by for a breakfast treat. Nothing bad to say, it is a little store so the seating situation isn’t the comfiest or best but it’s a nice place to stop. *pictured blueberry and white chocolate pancakes

If you're looking for a dreamy dessert experience, Fresh Air & Pancake is an absolute gem! I tried their strawberry and cream souffle pancake topped with fresh strawberries and a light, creamy sauce—it was like eating a soft, sweet cloud. The presentation was stunning, and the flavor was even better! I paired it with a pistachio-topped drink that was both refreshing and unique. The minimalist ambiance and calm vibe make it a perfect spot to unwind or catch up with friends. Highly recommended for pancake lovers and anyone with a sweet tooth!
Dipendra S — Google review
My husband saw the advertisement on TikTok and wants to try it. Advantage: not like white people’s desert super sweet… is not that over the top sugary which is much more healthy and good! Disadvantages: pricy…. A freshly made pancake with supermarket popcorn, biscuits and syrup… installing together selling it 20+dollars, is not a WOW… but is good ! Hopefully they can actually have a decent table…. Cuz the one inside of the store is really uncomfortable and awkward!
Chance D — Google review
We stumbled across this little gem on our final day in Melbourne. Japanese Soufflé Pancakes! I had the Brown Sugar Boba and Iced Strawberry Matcha and my hubby had the Monthly Special Dark Choc Orange. The pancakes are soooo fluffy! Sweet but not sickly sweet. The matcha was a perfect balance, not too bitter from the matcha and not too sweet from the strawberry. Will be back again next time 🩷
Katelyn W — Google review
For a while now i keep revisiting Fresh Air & Pancakes to have the Strawberry Matcha and honestly, it’s one of the most refreshing drinks I’ve had in a while. Visually, it’s stunning—the vibrant layers of fresh strawberry at the bottom topped with that rich, earthy green matcha make it look as good as it tastes. The strawberries were sweet, juicy, and slightly tangy, pairing perfectly with the smooth, bold flavor of the matcha. Together, the balance of fruity freshness and earthy richness felt like the best of both worlds in every sip. One of my favorite details is the foam. It added a silky texture that made the drink feel light but still indulgent. The amount of ice was just right too—enough to keep it refreshing without watering it down, so every sip stayed flavorful from start to finish. If I had to point out one small con, it would be the cup size. With how good this drink is, I found myself wishing there was a larger option available—it’s the kind of drink you just don’t want to end. I also want to take a moment to recognize the amazing team behind the counter. Charlie, Ray, and Zhi Zhi clearly put effort and care into the shop. Their attention to detail, from presentation to balance of flavors, really shows in the final product. They made a pancake for my partner and was both well presented and delicious. They offer the most friendly service and skillful preparation make the experience even better. Even when the store is quiet due to a rainy day in melbourne they still have smiles on and greeting every customer with kindness. We got the chance to get to know them a little more and it was a really sweet and wholesome moment! Overall, the Strawberry Matcha at Air Pancakes is a must-try—refreshing, flavorful, and made with genuine care. I would also recommend the Tiramisu Pancakes. So fluffy and full of flavour!!!
Amarry — Google review
Exquisitely enchanting to the consumer as well as all other people around you. These 2 incredibly fluffy pancake structures are decorated with most delicious toppings to make them a work of edible art! Watching them cook these towers of batter is amazing, which is why I am perplexed as to why this art-form is hidden down the back of the shop. The shop has amazing glass frontage on an incredibly busy city street, with so much foot traffic but no-one notices this store. I found it because of the store sign in the front awning. Please excuse the melted nature of the toppings in the photos. We didn’t eat them at the shop because there is not a lot of room and the servers were not very outgoing. The server did explain that the ice cream will melt and I was fully aware that by the time we got them home it would be that way. A suggestion when a customer says take away, please put the ice cream in a little container to add later. The photos will be much more true to shop- level delivery. Value for money as it is the same price as 2 thin pancakes from Pancake Parlour, for twice the amount of batter and excitement. Customer service is nonexistent as the 2 Pancake makers didn’t even acknowledge that we had entered the shop and were purchasing. Even after we had purchased, they were too busy making internet videos with another customer. They did even acknowledge once they were finished playing on their phones. Acknowledging customers would ingratiate themselves with the customer and make them more likely to purchase. And it costs nothing except for a smile! I don’t expect that making these are going to be quick but that just means that you have a little time to connect with your consumer. All said, I would go back! We got the Boba Tea and Biscoff varieties. Good choices! They were delicious! KUMO Desserts can stick their queues and rules up their jumper.

I have been coming here for near on 30 years! Introduced by a dear friend all that time ago. I began to cherish that Degraves always knew how to serve their food, tasty and piping hot, and their coffee always on point no matter how you ordered it. Today I ordered two poached eggs, with a side of bacon, chorizo, smoked salmon and hollandaise. Strong warm latte x 2 and I am in heaven. I always bring family here for the overall experience, and I am pleasantly impressed every time with their service, work ethic and willingness to serve their customers the old fashioned way. Thank you Degraves Espresso for that stable happy experience 30 years in the making, and IFYKYK, Cheers

This place is a gem. Inside the pockets of Flinders Lane. I had the loveliest dessert French Toast “Torrijas” & paired it with red wine. It was the best $15 I have spent. I. LOVE. IT. Tony was absolutely lovely, he was helpful and genuinely has passion at what he does. He was able to sit me on a busy Saturday night after a Geelong Cats vs. Brisbane Lions game in front of a window. Gave me ample time to decide, checks in & recommends without being pushy. It was perfect. I had coffee here before but their food is equally amazing. I will definitely come back & try their basque cheesecake. I’m already dreaming about it.

Well I found my new favourite place in Melbourne for a cup of tea and cake! Brought my Japanese friend here for a coffee for him (which he said was excellent), I drink tea so I'm used to getting pretty average tea but the tea here did not disappoint in any way, it was a fantastic Earl Grey, thank you! And I asked our server for her recommendation for a cake, she suggested the Basque cheesecake, and I am so glad she did! It was amazing!!!! Soft and gooey on the inside, smokey and caramelised on the outside, it was everything I could have wished for. I'd travel back to Melbourne just for this cheesecake!

We finally went to a café we had been wanting to try for a long time, but it turned out to be really disappointing. First, the rice was terrible…Some parts tasted like old leftovers, really dry and hard. On top of that, they forgot one of our coffees, even though we double-checked the order. That staff didn’t seem sorry at all about the mistake. It was such a letdown. But I do love the atmosphere and decoration here.

Christopher M — Google review
I use to come in quite regularly due to having nice coffee! However, the last few times the customer service has derailed and calling it disappointment is an understatement but I had decided to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and come in for a sit down meal today. I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast only to get about half way to find that there was mould on the bread! How disgusting! Maybe I should report it to the council and we’ll see what happens. The staff look miserable working there and seem to not want to be there! They make you feel unwelcome and that you are an inconvenience stepping into their business. The only positive is they have an open kitchen so customers can have a look the chefs cooking. Which can be entertaining. I did have a look myself today as I went to the toilet and the only thing I would say is the kiwi female chef that was there could use a liven up. Her expression looked very blank and she seemed burnt out- maybe it’s time for a career change. Management should step up their game and invest in some staff training on how to provide better customer service.

Nestled in the serene neighborhood of Brunswick West, Lankan Tucker has been a beloved Sri Lankan café since its inception in 2016 by Nerissa Jayasingha and Hiran Kroon. This charming spot embodies the quintessential Melbourne vibe with its St Ali coffee, relaxed atmosphere, and lush greenery. The menu is a delightful fusion of Australian brunch staples infused with Sri Lankan flair; think smashed avocado enhanced with turmeric hummus or house-cured salmon kissed by arrack—a traditional spirit from coconut sap.
I’ve loved Lankan Tucker ever since I first tried it years ago and it’s still just as good. They strike the perfect balance of Sri Lankan and classic “Aussie cafe” food, delivering unique flavours that don’t feel contrived. The string hopper and egg hopper combo will always be my favourite. But I recently tried the cheesy chicken kotthu roti and that was an unexpected standout with a chewy, creamy almost pasta-like consistency contrasted with crispy shredded chicken on top. It’s unlike any kotthu roti I’ve had and absolutely delicious. And if you’re still hungry, the pan rolls are awesome too.

You cannot miss at Lankan Tucker - from the food, the vibe, the staff and the coffee, it's all great. It was my first experience of Sri Lankan food, and I'm now obsessed. You can tell that the food is cooked with love, along with an incredible amount of flavour. It's a place that you go out of your way to visit. Highly recommend their takeaway meals, in-house dining and catering. And do yourself a favour, order the Pan Rolls.

Lankan Tucker has been on my list for the longest time and I’m so glad to try the new menu from Nerissa who hosted us, Ana and Hiran. They do modern Sri Lankan brunch, we ordered: 🥤 the most extra Milo (better than your childhood fr) and my fave Sri Lankan drink…faluda 🍳 pan roll, village breakfast with Sri Lankan sausage and pumpkin curry, kotthu roti with chicken (Sri Lanka’s most popular street food) and my personal favourite the hip hopper with veg curry, hoppers and sambal Lowkey regret not trying the burrito or taking some butter chicken pie away. So must come back and try those on my next visit. Also bonus points - it’s dog friendly!

Lankan Tucker is a Brunswick cafe serving Sri Lankan food in Melbourne. A small, yet cozy cafe with great vibes, run by a couple Nerissa and Hiran. A place to try something different and explore the food that is a bit more unique to Melbourne. You could say it’s a modern take on Lankan food! However, would like to point out that the place is a bit pricey for sure. I had kotthu roti, hip hopper and Sri Lankan staple. I would highly recommend the Sri Lankan Staple!!! Loved it the most! I definitely missed trying their falooda.
Remya P — Google review
I visited Lankan Tucker for their special Ole Lanka event with my partner yesterday. The flavours were amazing, but unfortunately there were so many issues on the day. We had to wait over half an hour to be seated as the first group finished late. Once we were seated, the food took a while to arrive. 1 1/2 hours from our original start time, only the entre had been served. It was quite clear the kitchen had some planning issue. By the time we finished our dessert and ready to leave, some tables were still having their main. I really hope that the restaurant is able to use this event as a learning experience in planning and customer service. Things ca happen that affect even the most well-planned events. How do you communicate this to customers to manage their expectations? In terms of team work, what can you do together to rectify the situation? I'm not giving you guys a 3 star to be mean. I'm giving you guys a 3 star so you can learn from your mistakes.

The High Tea was well worth every penny!✨🥰💕 The food and the way the cakes and food was presented was absolutely stunning shown with a lot of love. You can really feel it! 💗✨ This place is truly a special magical place of mine and ours, and my love for PINK especially!💕💖🌷 Feel so special and welcomed everytime I walk through the doors of all three cafes!! ✨💖

Cute vibes, amazing staff and delicious food 😍 The perfect place for a hens party with the cutest high tea set up! They even have a pastry chef so you can pre order cakes for your event! It was so yummy

Was here yesterday with my sistersand it was a Saturday well spent. Yummy food and beautifully presented. Yummy pancakes that matched our coffees. Staff are super nice and friendly. Should have been perfect until we accidentally broke a glass of champagne and due to the space being so tight, we felt so bad when we again accidentally knocked over another someone’s glass of champagne and a jug of water on our way out. I hope they’ll make this beautiful restaurant a bit bigger in the future. Nevertheless we enjoyed dining here.

Great colourful place, very photogenic. Staff are friendly, food is quite good. Coffee not that flavoursome but nice to look at. Be sure to check upstairs too for more photo worthy spots

I love this place. At first, I thought it was related to Dolores Umbridge because everything is pink, reddish and gold and also very impeccable but it turns out to be a fika themed Cafe. I love the concept of it and the menu has a good variety of dishes. I'm definitely coming back and try their signature dish! Also, the music is upbeat pop music which makes you happy, the food was delicious and there was this woman who clearly looked like the manager or maybe the owner, so beautiful and polite and willing to serve. The staff seemed to be new or shy but they were friendly. It has 2 levels and it has some great spots for nice photos for social media. I strongly recommend to make a booking since it's always busy.

What an amazing way to celebrate my baby cousin’s birthday! We ordered a number of dishes (sweet and savory) and not only was everything plated to perfection, it was a joy to eat. The attention to detail and care put into every plate and even the drinks made us just sit back and admire it all before gorging ourselves on pancakes and waffles! Now for the deco. What can I say? My two daughters loved posing infront of the flower walls and the overall aesthetic. You can clearly see the passion the staff had for providing the best FI:KA experience. The owner was so lovely and made sure we were all comfortable and well looked after. Lovely staff. Amazing food. Beautiful environment. What more could you ask for? Can’t wait to visit the new site!

If you're looking for a Pink experience, this is it!!! Decor and presentation is lovely and the experience of being in the cafe feels like a treat. Food is pretty good - the portions could be bigger. Drinks were stunning and delicious but on the pricier side. Overall would recommend for those who would like to treat their eyes and tastebuds.

House of Lulu White in South Yarra offers a chic and modern ambiance, reminiscent of Beverly Hills. The cafe has an interesting history as it used to be a brothel. It is particularly popular among young women and girls. The menu features items like Big Kahuna Burger, Salmon Poke, LA-Style Tacos, along with a variety of cocktails and coffee.
Went for the deluxe brunch option with a group of friends and had a lovely time. Drinks were delicious and quick to arrive - they didn’t leave us hanging. Food was pretty good overall although my poached egg was quite cold. Aside from that everything was great.

Very reasonable and do recommend. Food was fine, mango chicken salad and a ravioli meal - was well prepared and went down well. Seating offered was poor, in a corner, low light and right against a wall with a heap of seating around. There was a lot going on here, loud music, groups of girls getting pre drinks, love birds in the corner, a young family out for food. Not sure what Lulu White is but appreciate the effort and offering all the same. No drinks were offered or asked for. Just food. To be fair, we could have requested drinks but was keen to eat and leave.

House of Lulu White was amazing! I was greeted by a nice and friendly waitress before I sat down and checked out the menu. I ended up ordering a beautiful breakfast sandwich with chips. The bread on the sandwich was so soft and nice to eat, and the chips were perfect and crunchy. To go with the sandwich, I also got a FRESH SQUEEZED apple & pear juice which was absolutely phenomenal and made my morning!

I was lucky enough to try out there amazing fill me up menu which includes 3 starters, 1 main and 1 dessert. We added a two-hour unlimited drinks option, including house beers and wines, Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, French Martini and Rhubarb Collins. We has such an amazing night. The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks made just perfect. Highly recommended.

a casual and lively atmosphere! the bottomless brunch was a great option to catch up with mates, having plenty of small bites and endless cocktails to flow with the conversations and banter! it was quite busy upon my arrival so making early reservations would be recommended

Drinks and service were all good. I can’t forgive the fryer, I still tasted the fried chicken 8hrs later. Regrets. Clean the oil

The boozy brunch kits from House of Lulu White are absolute BOMB! We enjoyed the big kahuna burgers with a very impressive stash of cocktails. Very good value for money and easy to follow steps to get everything prepped and cooked. They also throw in a fun music list to jam around the house to. Want to do it all over again. It was fun, delicious and oh-so boozy 😊
Melbournelops — Google review
We came for the boozy brunch and had high expectations due to the good things I’ve heard about the place. We came on a Thursday and the place was practically empty. We were greeted warmly by the staff and the decor did not disappoint. ✅ There were a few let downs during our visit such as when I had ordered a coffee (cappucino) and the quality was very poor, seems as though the barista that day didn’t know how to steam milk or just chose to deliver a poorly made coffee anyway. And throughout the duration of our boozy brunch, we’ve struggled to catch the attention of the staff. As someone who also works in hospitality we were very understanding but the staff could be more attentive since there were very few people in the cafe. Overall, we enjoyed the boozy brunch experience as both the drinks and food tasted good.

Florian is a charming cafe located on a serene street in Carlton North, Melbourne. The cozy spot offers homestyle cooking and delectable desserts, with an intimate outdoor seating area. The cafe's unpretentious approach to coffee and produce-driven menu make it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. The timeless interior features glossy burgundy tiles, wooden shelves filled with cookbooks and pickled goods, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Now this cafe has the complete package. Great food, service and a great vibe. My wife and I had lunch which consisted of two delicious sandwiches and a great coffee. (Can I say it was one of the best I have had for a while!). The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Thank you for a great experience.

📍 Florian, Carlton North - 3.9 ⭐️ out of 5. Back in Carlton! Pictured is the: ➖Tomato tartine with olive tapenade crispy shallots and tarragon ($22) ➖ Herb and gruyere omelette ($20) The tomato tartine was delicious, a more upscale take on bruschetta if you will. I particularly loved the marriage of flavours of the tomato, tapenade, and tarragon. I loved it but wish it was a tad more filling. I was informed that the omelette was absolutely delicious, with it being a signature dish of Florian. It is absolutely packed here on a weekend. We had to line up and wait for 15 or so minutes (be careful because people were sneaking in!). It’s gorgeous here with beautiful golden tables to sit on outside, to tiers of seating inside and bar seating (love). Overall 3.9 ⭐️ out of 5.

Shocking cafe. We live behind the cafe who are incredibly disrespectful of neighbours by continually blocking our driveway with food deliveries. This is illegal and council are aware of the infringements. All other shops abide my the laws, park in the loading zone and trolley products in (allow residents access to their driveways). The rudeness of management is next level. Please do not visit this cafe.

I always have such lovely times at Florian - amazing food, beautiful service and lovely atmosphere - however i felt compelled to leave a review today… my daughter accidentally knocked over a table and broke a glass and the team couldn’t have been kinder after she was crying feeling terrible. Claudia gave her a flower and her colleague gave her a marshmallow, quickly making her feel better. It’s rare to find a team that offer such lovely service, thank you Claudia!

Not a sandwich kinda gal, but this was the best I have had. There’s usually a long queue to be seated the staff are friendly and its a leafy area of Carlton =)

My experience at Florian Eatery was fantastic, thanks to Rose and the incredible food. Rose went above and beyond with her friendly and attentive service, making us feel so welcome throughout our meal. The food was absolutely amazing—every dish was a delight. Thank you, Rose, for such a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Biggest disappointment! Coffee was flat, not fluffy foamy like everywhere in Melbourne. My omelette was super salty- and I do like salt. The salad was salty . Being German and married to an Austrian I was expecting great bred. The toasted sourdough looked crunchy and golden but unfortunately was hard like a rock. It was extremely noisy and the service was not particularly attentive. Maybe the sandwiches are lovely- they looked tempting but I didn’t try them.

Coffee shop
Mother Melbourne is a cafe in Northcote that holds a special story behind its conception. The owner, Fernando, was inspired by his fond memories of taking his mother to the local cafe, which eventually led him to acquire and rebrand the same venue after his mother's passing. The cafe offers a relaxed atmosphere and delicious dishes such as Cilbir poached eggs, Southern fried chicken waffle, kimchi chili scramble eggs, and more.
The staff were friendly and attentive and just seemed to enjoy being there which was nice. The food was great, obviously couldn't go past the chilli scramble on a croissant. Croissant was a little overcooked, but overall it was amazing. Cappuccino was really good too
Jon P — Google review
What a nice cafe in Northcote. The staff are so welcoming and the drinks and food come out so quick. We ordered the lamb Benedict. A great dish where the dill and minted salsa complimented the dish overall. The rosti was rather soft mashed potato filling than the shredded potato but it was so well made with a crispy outside. Topped with tender pulled lamb, the hollandaise is slightly tangy and paired well with the perfectly cooked poached eggs. The mother's big breakfast was great. The crispiness of the bacon paired so well with the scrambled eggs and sourdough bread. The smoked chorizo was so flavoursome and the mushrooms had a slight zest to them. I loved how fresh the avocado was and the dehydrated truss tomatoes were so juicy.

Coffee was good until a piece of blonde hair at the end (my hair is black). Food was good, expected more greens for $22 meal, only one strip of broccolini and small piece of kale. Please put more greens if meals worth more than $20. Thank you.

Staff were super friendly, our table had a doggo on the veranda and that was no issue. Food was enticing and delicious. Will be coming back when I visit Melbourne next!

Food was great. Waffles were a little soggy but the chicken batter made up for it. Good coffee and service
Lincoln L — Google review
The food is tasty but not balanced properly. For example, heaps of mushrooms and barely any bread for the Mushroom Medley. We were sitting on the terrace. The cafe is next to a busy street but not noisy.

If you're looking for a delicious cup of coffee in Melbourne, Cup of Truth is the perfect place to go! The café is located in an underground station, and the coffee is always top quality. Plus, they have some great baked goods to take away.
A simple and brilliant concept ..... Find a Basement where people have to walk pass everyday in "the Central" of the Most Livable City in the World; Flinders St Station ....no space for table & chair, no worries, it means no table service needed, setup an open counter, put in a great espresso machine, find good coffee beans and look for a gun barista with Tattoos and beards (just kidding on the last one). And a legend is born. Always very smooth, balanced and consistent Soy Latte and fruity Short Mac single origin, just great! It's one of those place that you make excuses to be on the train to go to the City.

Insta: melbfoodie_mark YT: MelbFoodieMark ** Check them out for more food reviews in Melbourne! - A hole-in-the-wall cafe in Flinders Station. Coffee was pleasantly strong, but creamy. It had this strong bitter/acidic aftertaste which went really well together. Barista was very lively and knowledgeable. Personal favourite!

My Barista teacher recommended this Cafe shop. Hiding at the Station underpass. Even the underpass smell didn’t well. But the coffee is really good.

Hole in a wall business that serves one of the best coffees in Melbourne. A large red cup represents the Cup of Truth where customers can pay and take their own change. Trust is the cornerstone philosophy behind this cafe and I think that is absolutely brilliant!

I've experienced coffee all over the World: Italia, Espania, Chile, Japan, Colombia, Argentina, France, Peru.....this place is easily in my top 3 in the World. Amazing! Know their coffee, how to make it perfectly and are genuine souls
Ben N — Google review
Busy little place, two guys going mad with orders and a master barrister behind the coffee machine, but despite the seeming madness of the people ordering the server was polite and nice and the coffee, which I got in about 2 min, is excellent, really smooth and not a note of bitterness.

TLDR: BEST COFFEE I HAVE TASTED BY FAR: BEST GEM OF A LOCATION TO MY COMMUTE TO WORK: NO BS OR TIME WASTED: PAY FOR YOUR COFFEE AND WALK AWAY. During my early morning commutes to work and an accidental right turn out of Flinders st station. I walked past this little nook, yet I back tracked as if something was pulling me back... It was my instincts telling me to give it a try... and try I did... It is seriously no words can describe the gem of a place. I ordered my usual 1 Large Flat White Coffee with no Sugar, paid it with Paypass and just waited around they were really busy yet they were able to hold conversations with people close by. Coffee was ready, I grabbed it and held it in my hands took a quick snapshot, *exhibit a* walked up the stairs to be amazed at where I ended up. I did not drink the coffee straight away.. I just held it in my hands, it was nice and warm. Something strange about this coffee... I didn't want to drink it straight away because I was afraid it might be too hot or it might be burnt milky taste or acidic like some other places... A little time has passed by as I walked past the Walker's Doughnut shop... thinking to myself this will be my next try.... As I readied my body to drink the coffee I pursed my lips and took a sip. My eyes lit up (i'm asian btw 16:9 ratio vision) and my taste buds felt the warm flow of deliciousness filling in my mouth... the next thing I know I had no more coffee I inadvertently drank it all coffee without thinking or stopping... The right Warmth the right texture no burnt milk it just went down so easily and it'll probably go out the other way once I finish this Post. But Seriously I'm telling everyone in the office about this place just for the fact that subjectively I believe this is one of the best I've ever had in a very long time.
