Wedding bakery
Ladybird Cakes is a Melbourne-based cake shop that specializes in creating custom cakes using local ingredients. They offer a variety of flavors such as red velvet with cream cheese, toffee cake with toffee buttercream, and citrus lemon myrtle with lemon curd. The shop also has a cafe-style retail store where customers can enjoy a slice of cake and coffee. Customers have praised the professional and helpful service provided by Gina and her team for creating gorgeous and delicious wedding cakes.
We were lucky enough to be connected with Ladybird Cakes through our venue, Metropolis Events. After searching high and low for the perfect wedding cake, we initially went with another supplier. However, our venue assured us that Ladybird Cakes was the best in Melbourne for wedding cakes—and they were absolutely right! The cake was nothing short of perfect. Every detail was meticulously crafted, and it not only looked stunning but tasted incredible. Even days later, our lucky neighbors who got to enjoy some leftovers couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful it tasted. We would happily use Ladybird Cakes again for any future events. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for adding such a special touch to our wedding night. You truly made it unforgettable.

Thanks so much for our beautiful wedding cake. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. We ordered the tasting box before choosing and they were all so delicious it was hard to choose. But we went with an Elderflower champagne and lemon semi naked cake. It was the perfect choice! Thanks Gina and Gillian for making the whole process so easy, and for creating the perfect cake for us. We wanted something simple, elegant, and balanced and you absolutely nailed it.
Tegan F — Google review
We were so happy with the communication and finished wedding cake we ordered through Lady Bird cakes. We would very happily recommend Gina and her team. Photo credit to Maegan Brown Photography. Thanks so much

Working with Ladybird Cakes for our wedding was a really easy and delicious process! 😋 We ordered one of the taster boxes, which we would highly recommend. In the end, we chose different flavours than what we had originally thought to select. Our cake was beautiful, it tasted amazing, and we had many guests ask us who made it 🍰
Jordan H — Google review
Thank you so so much to Ladybird Cakes for creating our simple, yet absolutely beautiful wedding cake, and for squeezing us in on such short notice. We had the Raspberry and White Chocolate flavour for all three tiers and it was a hit! It looked and tasted amazing, and we received numerous compliments about it. We are extremely grateful and highly recommend!
Jasmine M — Google review
Thank you Ladybird Cakes for our beautiful cake. We chose red velvet, banana toffee & chocolate mud for our flavours and they were a hit with our guests! A few guests even had a second serving.
Jenny V — Google review
We were recommended to Ladybird Cakes for our wedding cake by almost all of our vendors - and its not hard to understand why! Working with them was a breeze from the onset, and Gina/Gillian were very responsive in answering all of our queries. We ordered a taster box to sample all of the flavours before committing, and we were so spoilt for choice as all of the flavours were so delicious! We ended up going with the Chocolate Mud Cake and Champagne and Strawberries for our wedding cake - which was a perfect combination and all of our guests were asking for seconds. Although we had catered for a cake that had more portions than we had guests, we barely had any leftovers! We will definitely recommend Ladybird Cakes if you would like to elevate your event. Thank you so much Gina/Gillian for the amazing cake and for making our special day so incredible!
Max N — Google review
Gina made us the most beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding at Lyrebird Falls on April 10th 2025, and we consider Ladybird Cakes to be a huge part of what made our day perfect. Not only did she absolutely deliver on the presentation where you can see her attention to detail shine, the cake was moist and yummy without being too sweet. Gillian was an absolute delight to talk with leading up to the big day, and went above and beyond to put our minds at ease by locking in the day before we’d even done a tasting! We couldn’t recommend them more, and we’ll definitely be looking for an excuse to order more cake soon :) Photos to come!

If you're on the hunt for whimsical and delightful desserts, look no further than Miss Trixie Drinks Tea. This charming bakery is known for its vibrant cakes that are as much a feast for the eyes as they are for the taste buds. Picture a pastel pink cake adorned with raspberry jellies and sweet messages like "Love You Berry Much," or a sunny yellow creation topped with Skittles, playfully declaring "Crazy Skittle Thing Called Love.
Alice is a true gem! After many, many, MANY cake orders over the years, Drew & I knew the only person to make our wedding cake was of course the queen herself. We went with a honey joy flavour and all our guests raved about how much they loved it. I mean look how darn cute our cake is!? She made all our cake dreams come true!!! We are fans for life. Can't wait to order a 1 year wedding anniversary cake next year hehe. Amanda & Drew xx
Amanda A — Google review
Alice at Miss Trixie’s was an absolute gem to work with on my wedding cake! She made everything so easy, was so accomodating and took away a lot of stress. Not only did the cake look amazing it was also the best tasting dessert I’ve ever had, all our guests loved it. Could not recommend Miss Trixie’s highly enough
Molly B — Google review
No doubt about it, if you’re wanting a custom cake Miss Trixie is where you can find one!! This was literally the dream cake I imagined for my 30th bday. It was exactly on theme, excellent portioning. The flavour and textures were incredible. Sensational buttercream that’s well balanced. Such professional service throughout 💗
Shilini H — Google review
We are so grateful to Alice for making an absolutely gorgeous and delicious wedding cake! It was a pleasure to work with her and she nailed the brief from the start. Highly recommend entrusting her to make cakes for your most important occasions! X
Gemma S — Google review
Alice nails the brief each time! I’ve order with Alice 3 times and her cakes are just Devine. What is a left over when it comes to Miss trixie cakes?! I sent Alice some inspo pics and mostly trusted her artistic juices which is why each of the cakes I’ve had done turn out fantastic! Thank you Alice, cakes are memories and you’ve done some great ones for me 💜
Lauren D — Google review
Miss Trixie = the Cake Queen! Alice has created cakes for all our special occasions, and makes the BEST gluten-free cakes, so having her make our wedding cake was the easiest decision (we didn't even have to reach out to anyone else!). Alice took a little illustration from our invites and turned it into the real-life version that was absolutely delicious, looked stunning, and she even incorporated my grandparents’ wedding topper, which made it extra special. We even got extra slab cakes so our guests could try lots of flavours. Thank you for making our cake dreams come true!
Laura H — Google review
Oh my! I got the most incredible custom cake. The mission, a retro murderous black love-heart cake with cherries, shimmer, blood and a knife topper with text. Oh. And it had to be delicious and fresh. It was absolutely A MAY ZING. I researched other cute retro cakes, but they couldn’t do the whole brief…including that the cake itself was super fresh with organic eggs, actual butter & no premix. The gorgeous humans at miss trixie answered my incessant question and let me shift flavours around to suit the birthday girl’s palate. Also, they had next to NO NOTICE. I opted to pickup because my deadline was hard and goodness, what lovely people IRL and stunning frontage. Thank you so so so much. I’m thrilled I remembered you from yonks ago and that you accepted the challenge
A G — Google review
I ordered a birthday cake from Miss Trixie and it was absolutely perfect! The cake was not only stunning but also incredibly delicious – moist, rich, and full of flavor. On top of that, they were so easy to deal with – friendly, responsive, and made the whole process stress-free. Highly recommend if you’re after a cake that tastes as good as it looks!

Bakery
Monarch Cakes, a historic cafe established in 1934, is a must-visit on Acland Street. This old-school cake shop offers an array of creamy delights with recipes reflecting the founders' Eastern European origins. From Polish baked cheesecakes to chocolate kooglhoupf and strudels, there's something for every sweet tooth.
It’s a real challenge to stand out at the end of Acland Street with all of St Kilda’s best patisseries and coffee joints, but we picked Monarch Cakes and hit the jackpot! Their Poppy seed cake—a proper European delight—was a one-of-a-kind find, and the pastries looked yummy and almost healthy for a dessert—pretty neat! 😄 Cherry Crumble was so amazing it erased any calorie guilt. Sipping top-notch coffee, we saw tons of folks grabbing take-away—turns out we’re not alone in loving this tiny but awesome café-patisserie! Tip: the sign says The Monarch, but search Monarch Cakes on Google to find it.
Tasha S — Google review
Came here with family for some cake and coffee and it’s really nice to see the old photos showing the history of the store up on the walls. The decorations and design of the interior is very full and cosy, quite lived in and tells of a long history. The flat white was nice, the coffee was flavourful and the cakes were unique and a treat to try. The atmosphere was just okay but the staff were friendly and personable which was a nice experience too.
Mai — Google review
I stumbled upon this place while taking a walk in St Kilda - I then remembered it was flagged by the Lonely Planet, as one of the best spots for coffee in the hood. Super cool vibe and atmosphere. Great coffee and cakes, including two vegan options. Only con, there’s no toilette.. Otherwise, highly recommended - full of locals, nice music in the background.
Alessandra — Google review
The cakes are to die for and coffee tasted good too. However as some other review also pointed out, we did not quite appreciate the attitude of the staff members towards customers. This isn’t against us but we overheard staff bitching about some other customers who decided not to buy their cake and they were rolling their eyes after the customers left and making comments which were borderline racism.
Z C — Google review
Great coffee and cakes. Probably due to the high publicity , the cakes are mostly pricey. The environment is quite unique inside the cafe. Pleasant and friendly service.
Alice C — Google review
This was a big disappointment. I saw the huge amount of cakes in the window and assumed (wrongly) that they would be delicious and fresh. It appears to be a tourist trap (along with all the other cake shops on Acland St but they'll get their own reviews once I've finished this one). The cakes were old, stale and bore little similarity to the traditional names. The owner and staff were pleasant but unfortunately that alone wasn't enough to cover for the poor tasting cakes. I wish I had read the Google reviews first but you live you learn.
Tash P — Google review
Omg delicious .. visiting the area from Perth. Stopped in for a coffee and I had to try the Monarchs famous kooglhoupe . I was asked if I wanted it heated to yourself a favour do it ! Also note there are a few cake shops in the area trust me don’t walk bye !
Melanie L — Google review
We tried a couple of cakes from this bakery, and the poppy cake in particular was quite nice. The service was friendly and the overall experience was good. That said, there’s still room for improvement — everything was decent, but not quite exceptional yet.

Patisserie
Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, Le Petit Gateau is a beloved patisserie that captures the essence of French baking culture. This contemporary bakery delights locals and visitors alike with its exquisite specialty cakes, airy croissants, and rich chocolate treats crafted fresh each day.
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, this charming cafe offers a delightful taste of Paris. The almond-pistachio croissant is undeniably one of the finest I’ve had, perfectly flaky with just the right balance of nutty sweetness. Paired with a hot chocolate - served with whipped cream on the side. It’s a light and rich indulgence that’s worth the extra cost. However, there is a noticeable safety concern inside the cafe - a step down (seen in the last photo). Despite the staff’s best efforts to warn patrons, there are moments when the cafe is busy. To mitigate any risks, it would be better for the establishment to clearly mark the step, perhaps with a yellow caution tape, to prevent potential accidents. It’s a small adjustment that would enhance the overall experience, ensuring the atmosphere remains as safe as it is inviting.
Thefoodiefilipina — Google review
One of our new favourite places in Melbourne to enjoy French patisseries. High quality cakes ( full size and minis), slices and beads. There is seating inside to enjoy the food and excellent coffee and other drinks. Best to order wanting to take away.
Chris F — Google review
Really feeling like something sweet and maybe a bit chocolatey so headed to RACV @LePetitGateauMelb for the black forrest: Two layers of chocolate sponge surrounding a vanilla mousse with guinette cherries all enveloped with a dark chocolate mousse, topped with vanilla Chantilly cream pebbles. One fork full and I'm in my happy place. Delicious flavours and textures. There's the soft crack of the thin tempered chocolate surrounding the bottom of the base, the smooth dark chocolate mousse giving a nice brooding flavour, the slightly sour and tart cherries, a slight alcohol kick from the Chantilly cream, the soft light sponge and the creamy vanilla mousse. Each bite is savoured as time stands still. Totally satisfying. #dessert #sweettooth #blackforrest #chocolate #sponge #mousse #cherries #Foodie #melbournefood #melbournecbd

Always impressed every time I visit Le Petit Gateau. Every cake is a piece of art with perfectly balanced flavors—rich but never heavy. Consistently high quality and friendly service make this patisserie a go-to spot. #genastar

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Ordered a birthday cake here for a special person two months ago and wanted to leave a positive review! They require a day's notice for an order of one of their amazing cakes. They charged about $5 for the customised message as well. The black forest cake was delicious, they have a nice seating arrangement inside if people wanted to stop by to have a drink and dessert too. Thanks for the fancy cake Le Petit! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ
The C — Google review
I’ve been a loyal customer of Le Petit Gateau for years and have always ordered my birthday cakes here. However, today’s experience was deeply disappointing. I was suddenly charged an extra $5 for the chocolate plaque — something that has always been complimentary in all my past orders. There was no notice about this change either online or in-store. When I questioned it and even showed my previous receipts, the staff’s response was dismissive and unprofessional, asking if I wanted to repay the $5 they hadn’t charged me before. The issue isn’t the amount — it’s the lack of transparency and respect for returning customers. Had this been clearly stated, I would have had no issue paying it. Sadly, this experience has made me lose confidence in a place I once trusted and recommended.

Prices are steep but with the quality and location, it’s worth visiting! Hidden from the busy street of Collins, this little café shop offers variety of cakes like no other bakeshop offers. Definitely one of a kind

Bakery
Mister Nice Guy's Bakeshop in Ascot Vale, Melbourne is a must-visit for dessert lovers. Despite the terms 'vegan' and 'allergy-friendly,' their cakes are so delicious that you won't miss eggs or dairy. Their creative cake names like Holy Biscoff and Unicorn Milkshake match the inventive flavors.
My partner and I picked a few things to takeaway from the window and they were all incredible! I love how everything is labelled nicely, as well as the GF options, and the owners were so lovely. Definitely coming back to try the subs and shakes!
Rachel — Google review
We drove a long way to visit this vegan bakery. Great service with good energy vibes from who I assume was the owner. Slightly disappointed that not all the deli options that were listed in their website were available (had 4 sub options but no bagels?). We went for the Meatball Sub and a Chick’n schnitzel Sub. They were very very filling. Could have shared one between us to be honest! Meatball sub for the win! Love how they segregate the bakery items so nut free are on their own shelves. Makes it so much easier. Well done. We bought some desserts for takeaway. Glazed donut, cinnamon donut and Portuguese tarts. Glazed bad boy for the win! Oh and coffees were very good as Happy Happy Soy Boy is one of the best milks for latte.

Love the chocolate babkas!!! Great coffee. Also you can buy vego bars here if you need a chocolate hazelnut fix. The cakes are all awesome too. Great savoury items. Vegan food happiness.

We’ve been going to Mister nice guy’s for years and they never disappoint! They have amazing cakes on their website and can do customisations too! We love their sweet and savoury pastries - everything tastes amazing! The staff are super helpful and friendly too! And the best thing is they are 100% Vegan 😊💚

I ordered a cake online 2 days prior to the event, they ask for 3 days notice. Emailed them if it was possible to be made in 2 days and they delivered and waived the fee. The cake was delicious and not too sweet. Got small neapolitan, 2 layered cake.

Long time customer, got my husband’s favourite cupcake as a birthday cake for his 60th. Absolute perfection!! We are on day 4 and it’s still amazing and couldn’t imagine a better chocolate cake than this. Thanks team, it’s an absolute ripper!!
Sonya B — Google review
My go to for birthday cakes - always amazing! Love the flavours, the presentation and of course knowing it’s 100% vegan. Appreciate their willingness to customise (soy-free Betelgeuse cake was a hit!) and flexibility when I order last minute cos I’m disorganised. Plus, the cinnamon bronuts are my most favourite dessert ever! Thanks for always going above and beyond.

Great experience with Mister nice guys bakeshop. Ordered the snickers cake, and it was amazing! Was just visiting Melbourne from out of state and ordered prior to coming for my partners birthday. It was easy and service was great. Highly recommend their reliable service and super delicious treats!

Cafe
Candied Bakery is a popular spot in Spotswood, offering a unique fusion of Australian and American baked goods. The bakery attracts crowds with its tempting treats like marshmallow choc chip cookies, hot dogs, shakes, lamingtons, and sausage rolls. Additionally, it offers European-inspired delights such as croissants and panini filled with fresh pancetta and provolone.
To say this place is busy would be an understatement! We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and it was absolutely packed and had a big line of people ordering takeaway as well. The red velvet cake was hands down the best red velvet cake I have ever had. It was super moist and the balance of the icing was perfection. Very rarely do I get a dessert of a quality that I can't make myself, but this was definitely it! My husband had the apple crumble which he really enjoyed as well, but it really didn't hold a candle to the red velvet. The coffee and hot chocolate were both really good. The service was good too! Will definitely be back to try some of the other items on the menu, the pies and sausage rolls looked fantastic.

THE BESTESTTTTT BAKERY!! My family and I have been coming to Candied for years and this is my first time writing a review because Alex deserves it!! I had a family emergency and needed two cakes and she was so helpful and kind. To say her customer service was great is an understatement. The most beautiful soul ever , definitely what I needed on a stressful Saturday morning. Other than that , I cannot recommend the red velvet cake enough. I wish i could gatekeep but its too good. It has become a family tradition of ours to have a red velvet cake every birthday .. so please never change the recipe🫶🏻 10/10 Also tried the cinnamon scroll and it was delishh, i do prefer a creamcheese frosting but this was sort of like krispykreme icing sugar glaze. Still yum, light and fluffy and doesnt make you sick🥰8/10

12/10 deliciousness!! Each mouthful was packed with flavour and everything was so fresh! The staff are warm and welcoming, the coffee is spot on and the baked goods are to die for 🙌🏽

Loved the tres leches cake! Pistachio cream croissant shell was a bit hard but filling was tasty. Disappointed with the red velvet as the icing almost had a rubbery texture and don’t recommend it. Will be back to try the other cakes and pastries though

Long queue the moment it opened, but service is quick. Nice ambience and plenty of dine in space. Pistachio croissant cream is sooo good. Definitely must try! But disappointed with their cinnamon scroll, very sweet and nothing special.

Stumbled upon Candied Bakery and tried the chocolate Biscoff cream croissant, rich, decadent, and perfect if you love dark chocolate. We also tried the pistachio escargot, which was my favourite, lighter but equally delicious. Would’ve loved to try more, but they were understandably sold out on a busy Sunday afternoon.

Brunetti Classico Carlton is an Italian cafe renowned for its delectable sweets, as well as serving pizza and housemade pasta in a contemporary setting. The cakes at Brunetti Oro and Brunetti Classico are highly regarded, offering dine-in (when not in lockdown), takeaway, and home delivery services. The cafe provides a spacious and pleasant ambiance with accommodating staff. While the prices may be on the higher side and some desserts overly sweet, the overall experience is considered iconic and worthwhile.
Classic cafe catch up spot. Always a reliable option in Carlton with a wide, diverse menu. Cakes and desserts are solid and definitely the highlight, while coffee can be average. Atmosphere is pleasant and makes it an easy choice for meeting up with friends.

It is a very busy place (Sunday), but that is the happy vibe you come here for. People enjoying their food, coffee, and chitty chat. There is a wide selection of cakes and some other food too. Service is by ticket machine, take a number, wait a bit before your number is called, then select food and pay. Order coffee, wait some more, and collect it. There are tables inside and outside in the mall.

Brunetti Carlton is always such a vibe! The coffee is spot on and their cakes and pastries are simply irresistible – so many to choose from. The atmosphere is lively with a true Italian feel, perfect for catching up with friends or just enjoying a sweet treat. Service is quick despite the crowds, and everything tastes fresh and delicious. A must-visit in Carlton!

Brunetti Classico in Carlton is one of those places that never disappoints. Every visit feels special. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with that unmistakable aroma of fresh coffee, pastries, and Italian desserts. The atmosphere is lively and full of character, yet still welcoming and comfortable whether you’re there for a quick espresso or a long lunch. The selection is absolutely amazing. There’s something for everyone. Delicate cakes, pastries, biscuits, gelato, savoury options, and of course, excellent coffee. Everything looks so beautiful in the display cabinets that it’s hard to choose! The quality is consistently outstanding. Everything tastes fresh, authentic, and made with real care. You can tell they put a lot of love into their food. The staff are always friendly, polite, and efficient, even when it’s busy. Service runs smoothly despite the constant crowd, and they handle every order with a smile. It’s clear they take pride in what they do, and that adds so much to the experience. The interior is elegant and stylish, with a true European feel. Marble counters, warm lighting, and plenty of seating. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends, celebrate something special, or just enjoy a moment to yourself over coffee and dessert. Brunetti Classico isn’t just a cafe, it’s an experience that captures the heart of Italian hospitality right in the middle of Carlton. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Melbourne, this is a must visit spot. Highly recommend the srawberry custard tart, the cannoli, and of course, their signature cappuccino.Perfection every time!

Tried a few of the slices here, but some didn’t taste very fresh and felt a bit off. The coffee, however, was good and enjoyable. Overall, a mixed experience.

LuxBite is a bakery in Melbourne that skillfully combines French baking techniques with Asian flavors to create unique and visually stunning cakes. Their Lolly Bag Cake, featured on Masterchef, showcases their playful approach to dessert making by incorporating classic confectionary into a seven-layer masterpiece. The Endless Love cake, with rose moisturizer, lychee ganache, raspberries & lychees, exemplifies their expertise in blending different flavors and textures.
I had an enjoyable experience at this cake shop. The grapefruit tea, priced at $3 per cup, is very refreshing. Easter cakes are so cute and came in four varieties: - Adorable little yellow chicks, looks like just-hatched-from-an-egg 🐣 - Carrot 🥕 - loved by the cute bunny. - Chocolate eggs with white angel wings attached. - There's also a hidden design featuring the little bunny – unfortunately, it was still a work in progress when I visited. Well, maybe next time. Opted for the white mousse cake for a birthday celebration, and everyone thinks it’s deliciousness. The texture is delicate, not overly sweet, with a refreshing mango flavor and crunchy hazelnuts. 💖

Ordered the Signature Tea Set from LuxBite via Uber Eats, and honestly, it was just average. It looked fancy, but the flavors didn’t match up—felt like it was more about presentation than taste. Nothing stood out, and it lacked the richness I was expecting. Probably wouldn’t order again.

Both desserts I tried were so delicious, especially the kuma one. They were both $13.50 each even though the heart one was quite a bit smaller. The interior was very clean and there was lots of seating. Would recommend visiting !

one of my favourite cake and dessert cafes 10 years ago and safe to say it’s still just as good! The cakes are luxurious, presentation and taste is on point- with a lot of attention and detail put into each cake. The chocolate is tempered well and they have nice flavour combinations, perfect treat for any special occasion. They’re currently doing a limited edition Easter cake series and that includes the: 🍴Chick me out ($14.88) Mango mousse with tropical exotic fruits jelly, coconut dacquoise, yellow chocolate glaze 🍴Easter Egg ($13.88) White chocolate mousse, milk chocolate ganache with soft caramel spread, caramel chocolate shell 🍴Carrot Baby ($13.88) Jaffa dark chocolate mousse with orange jelly, orange chocolate shell with green sponge Our favourite was probably the Easter Egg, classic flavour combinations done well! The designs are soooo cute and perfect for this Easter! It’s nice to see their popular cakes have remained permanent items, I loved their giant raspberry macaron and matcha cake - loved it many years ago and I still enjoy it- flavours are light, well balanced and not too sweet, they have a refreshing element to it with a nice contrast through layers of different textures and flavours. We also tried the- 🍴I heart you ($11) Light vanilla mousse, elderflower jelly, strawberry compote, yoghurt and almond crunchy base 🍴Uji Matcha Cheesecake ($10) Uji matcha joconde, Japanese rice wine, pistachio ganache, cream cheese, salted matcha crumble with a matcha and pistachio macaron 🍴Endless love ($11.50) Giant Macaron with lychee ganache, rose cream, lychee and fresh raspberries 🍴Epic chocolate cravings ($9.50) Dark chocolate cake with hazelnut crust, chocolate truffle filled with salted caramel and dark chocolate and gold garnish 🍴Pandan coconut and salted caramel macaron ($3) ☕️Grape Ice Tea ($3)

Agathé Pâtisserie is a delightful French pastry stall located in South Melbourne Market, where pastry chef Agathe Kerr has been creating homemade pastries since 2015. The stall offers an array of delectable treats, including bicolored croissants with unique infusions like matcha and pandan, as well as indulgent cruffins filled with Nutella, salted caramel, and peanut caramel custard.
There is not a moment without a queue at Agathe. The decadent French pastries staring at you, makes you want to hug one from each. This time I had the cheese cake, which was rich, smooth and creamy. We also bought a chocolate tart which was just the right amount of sweetness and saltiness . I have also tried their croissants and cakes which are all so tasty and fresh.

💰 Menu & Price • 🎃 Halloween Danish • 🥐 Plain Croissant x2 💵 Total: $21.23 ✨ Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) 🤝 Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) 🍰 Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️(5/5) 💬 Review One of my favourite bakeries ever 🥰 I tried the Halloween Danish and the Plain Croissant this time. I’ve had the pandan croissant before — it’s quite sweet 🍬 but the plain croissant is absolutely the best 🥐💛 Perfectly buttery, crisp, and light — pure happiness in every bite 😋✨
Jin J — Google review
Pretty good pastries but there was a very long line to get in. The pandan was very popular and took us two tries to get it as it kept getting sold out. While it was good, I wouldn’t get it again as it tasted like a normal croissant that was green. The croissants were fresh and hot and it was good.

Agathe is a popular patisserie in Melbourne with multiple locations. I’ve been a few times and there are always lines on the weekend. I recently got to try the pandan croissant and it really surprised me. The flavour was definitely sweet but didn’t feel heavy. And the pastry itself was just so crispy, flaky and chewy - one of the best croissants I’ve ever had. I particularly liked that it didn’t fall/flake apart when biting into it! It was also moist and seemed freshly made. The other typical flavours like plain and chocolate are good but didn’t stand out like the pandan. Price definitely isn’t cheap at almost $10. Definitely recommend a visit and hope you’re lucky with timing (I was there after lunch).

13/7/25 - 4.5 stars Probably one of the most famous bakery chains in Melbourne and for good reason. I was recommended this place several times and seems like many other ppl were too cos the lines are always long. That being said, service turnover is quite fast. The pastries are freshly made and in pretty big batches, but, even still things were sold out like the flan which was highly recommended. The quality of the croissants were exceptional though so was worth waiting. Croissants Pandan: SS, 9/10. As advertised, delicious but maybe just a bit too sweet Original: SS, 9/10. Just buttery and tasty. Texture: SS+, 9.5/10. As good as any I've ever had Value: S, 7/10. $9 for pandan is a little bit much but $7 for original is good.

OK, what do you get when you cross a croissant with a croque monsieur? No, not a ham and cheese croissant, much much more. Agathe Patisserie bakes this little number well, keeps them warm in a pie warmer for lunch (Royal Arcade store) and takes me straight back to Paris where often a boulanger adds a dollop of bechamel to the leg ham and gruyère before rolling/baking the ultimate lunchtime croissant. Well done Agathe, awesome work mate. Kate Reid your ham and gruyère croissant has a challenger!

Great cakes made the most classic way. I also enjoyed their chicken sandwich - tasted really refreshing and comes in multiple variations to keep me excited everytime they post in the morning! I also love their crumbed zucchini sandwich and their cauliflower parmesan fritter sandwich so so much. Truly some of my favourite sandwiches in Melbourne.

Still cannot believe Beatrix is closing permanently in a few days. It is indeed one of the best bakeries in Melbourne. Their cakes are absolutely beautiful. Simple, homey but executed perfectly. Just like the cakes my grandma bakes for me. Their banoffee pie is definitely unbeatable. I’m going to get their cookbook and do a copycat version. Thank you so much for bringing all these lovely goodies to Melbournians.

Moved to North Melbourne so I can be closer to Beatrix 3 years ago. What a great decision now even at lock down I can go there and fix my mood with delicious cakes and pastries. I think its safe to say I have tried almost everything they had. And everything was amazing! Dont remember having any disappointment ever. My go to are red velvet, chocolate sourcream, lemon tart, chiffon, cheesecake, sponge cake, wait am I listing everything they have lol The pastries are so great as well! Had the handpie with bacon and onion for dinner tonight. Such a warm hearty feeling! I also remember the apple frypie that doesnt go out very often but definitely on the top of my top list! Thanks Nat and team for your great work all these years! LOVE Beatrix!

Quite literally my favourite cafe in the world. It's fortunate that I don't live close by, as I'd never have any money otherwise. They're famous for their cakes, but their sandwiches are what make it for me - I'm a particular fan of the Oscar and Kermit ciabattas. They rotate their menu daily, and you can check their Instagram in the morning (as I often do) to see what's in.

I can’t believe I’d never tried Beatrix til last week, when a quarantine cake craving saw me driving to North Melbourne. I pre ordered a slice of the famous chocolate sour cream layer cake plus a special brow butter, hazelnut and quince tart ($17 total). The cake was not as sour as I was expecting but pleasantly less sweet than a standard chocolate cake and so moist. I like a rich cake but this one didn’t leave me in desperate need of water like many others do. While the cake was good, the tart was a standout. It was a perfect blend of sweet, buttery biscuit and slightly tart roasted quince and crunchy hazelnuts. I wish it was a regular menu item because I could eat it again and again.

Been coming here before covid hits, before the owner published her book. The cakes are pricey but yes it’s worth every $$$ spent. However, I couldn’t agreed more with the comments about how unfriendly the staff at Beatrix are. The lady with glasses at the till has been so rude (3 visits, I counted). She never smiles or say hi and makes it awkward every time we order with her. The other staff are equally unfriendly but not as grumpy as her. Not sure what’s going on with the staff at this place ?!!!

30/07/2022: It's been a good run, but everything eventually comes to an end. Nat Paull's won the hearts and minds of the local community a few times over, along with everyone who's travelled to this small bake house. The last few days have queues extending beyond two street blocks and cake sold out around the midday mark. If you enter the queue just before 0800, it's approximately 2 and a half hours till you walk away with cake. Quite the investment for your final slice of Red Velvet Layer Cake. Best wishes to Nat and her future accolades. North Melbourne won't be the same without you. ***** 2021: Been a loyal supporter for more than a decade now, Beatrix has provided a good booster shot of dopamine, during these uncertain, pandemic times. With so much chaos and conflict in this reality, it's good to know there's also cake. **** 2010-2020: The Quintessential Cake & Coffee shop of Melbourne. With the most minimal of signage, and equally minimal seating expectations, Beatrix has some of the most tantalising and creative cake slices in Melbourne. I literally wet myself upon the first bite of the Cherry Ripe Shagg! The cake variety is shuffled around daily and it'll take repeat visits to catch 'em all... Keep your eyes peeled for the Chocolate Roulade, Brùléed Caramel Cheesecake and the Notorious BFC. The staff here also should be greatly commended as they are so darn sweet, do such an amazing job and make up Beatrix's friendly warm vibes. My favourite. *****

A place so small with cakes of such big taste! Throughout Saturday afternoon, a steady stream of customers poured in to order their favourite cakes for takeaway. One by one, smiles illuminated faces as people received their boxes holding such anticipation and promise. One bite of the famous red velvet cake explained the popularity. Smooth, moist, balanced in flavour and texture, I slowed down to savour the experience. This deserves a 5/5. I also had a crumbed flathead ciabatta with rocket and house made tartare sauce - delicious. This tiny spot squeezes in two tables and a bench by the window with a handful of tables on the pavement. Friendly staff interacted with a smile. They mixed up the orders a couple of times while I was there, including mine. I will return but next time, I'll queue up for the takeaway boxes like everyone else.

Millstone Patisserie in Melbourne is renowned for its delectable selection of cakes, tarts, pastries, and petit gateaux. The patisserie offers custom cake designs and caters to various dietary needs with its vegan and gluten-free options. Owner Alice Wright's training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris is evident in the refined yet unpretentious creations that exude Parisian charm with Aussie simplicity.
Absolutely fantastic café with beautiful French-inspired food — a true local gem in Malvern. I’ve visited many times, and the food, cakes, pastries, and coffee are consistently excellent. Many of the staff speak French, which adds to the authentic, charming atmosphere. The Parisian-style chairs and tables outside give it a lovely street-side feel, while the interior is warm and cozy. The staff are always welcoming and helpful - thank you!! The nourish bowl with hot honey halloumi is my particular favourite — fresh, flavourful, and perfectly balanced. The halloumi is deliciously crispy, and I’ve never had anything quite like it before. Perfect spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even a relaxed afternoon tea. It’s also a great place to pick up some gorgeous pastries or cakes if you’re hosting at home and want a few impressive treats.

I was happy to visit the Millstone with my wife today. The place is just "the place to go" on a Saturdays morning. The food, the cakes and over all was very nice. The coffee bland is nice but the the making of it can be improved.

My friend recommended this cafe to me years ago, but I hadn't tried it until today, despite passing by many times. Upon entering, a 'wait to be seated' sign was displayed, but there were no staff available to guide customers. I was confused about where to wait to place my order, especially with an open window next to the sign. The staff seemed occupied with various tasks, such as moving food/plates to a van, cleaning tables, and serving food, but there was no one specifically attending to customers. When I placed my order, the cashier didn't inquire about dining in or taking away. I assumed I could enjoy my cake with my coffee, but I was mistaken. Firstly, as I'm not a coffee person, I won't comment on the coffee quality, but the size was small. Secondly, the cake I ordered was meant to be consumed on-site with the coffee. However, when I attempted to eat it, I found it to be rock-hard, indicating that it needed to be brought to room temperature before consumption. 🤷‍♂️ My dissatisfaction stems not from the quality of the cake but from the fact that the staff didn't mention the need to eat it at room temperature. I was eager to enjoy it when I was in the cafe, but I could not. So it’s still in my fridge. 🤷‍♂️ If the staff had informed me during my order, I wouldn't have purchased it. After placing my order, I found a table, but it was dirty, and despite staff walking around, no one was cleaning the table. Additionally, there were no utensils, no drinking water, and no table service available when I was sitting there watering for my drink and food.

I’m so glad a friend recommended this place for us to catch up at on a rainy Friday. We scored a table for two inside, checked in and found it hard to hard as everything looked delicious. My friend had the black porridge which was in the menu. It was delicious, soul warming and a great portion. I ordered a chicken baguette what was behind the counter. It was a great size and so good with my two coffees. We couldn’t resist one of the cakes that we couldn’t stop staring at during lunch. We shared the lemon drizzle cake. It was so good. I took home a slice of the blueberry cheesecake for my kids they loved it!

What a RIP-OFF! $10.50 for a 'Dog's Breakfast' lemon sponge cake. I was shocked when I opened the box at home. I would have returned it if I was still at the shop. Not only the slide is so thin for just a simple lemon sponge cake (I was told, no sign on counter for it), and it was badly handled looked like someone took a bite. That piece of dog's breakfast should not have been sold to begin with.
Diner 7 — Google review
I would really like to be positive about this place but its impossibile. Firstly, SMILE! All the staff are always so rude or depressed looking. The food is so overpriced and the service is non existent… if you want to charge so much money for food, at least make people feel nice about spending their money here. I also must have missed something about the size of the croissants because now they are kid sizes! Never again, extremely underwhelming.

The coffee was amazing, and the Turkish eggs were so yummy! It’s been a long time since I’ve had such proper, delicious food. Must visit place in Malvernnn !!!

Great little cafe tucked away in a side street near Malvern Station and Glenferrie Road. Very busy at 12.30 on a Wednesday, but the constant turnover of tables means you won’t have to wait long. Coffee is excellent (I had a second), as was my toasted baguette. The cakes & pastries look amazing, much more interesting than the now all too common gluten, dairy and nut free or vegan offerings in many cafes. I know some people have allergies but am prepared to bet that many more do not. Finally, the attentive manager circulates constantly, checking that patrons are happy.

Surprisingly good GLUTEN FREE and DAIRY FREE Sourdough Bread!! Got it freshly baked and it was soft on the inside and got a perfect crust! I love it toasted and it is perfect for homemade soups or breakfast entrees! They serve coffee by ONA roastery! I got the 8oz flat white. Creamy and velvety flavour! The cafe has only limited counter style seating and quite small but great specialty breads!

Tiny little cafe selling artisan pastries, toasties and decent coffee. Unique asian inspired flavors goodies. Not much space inside the cafe basically you get in to order and wait out when it busy.( they’re always busy most of the time actually) Fast service and friendly staff. Ps. Matcha was overrated but the canelè was great.
Noey T — Google review
A definite must-try for their canelés! The Pandan Taro is absolutely phenomenal and arguably the best in town. I also loved the Jasmin tea with Raspberry—it's the perfect pairing. While the canelés were outstanding, the Earl Grey madeleine was a bit underwhelming and quite average. Be prepared for the space itself, as it is very small and cramped. There is no waiting area inside, so customers must stand outside while their order is being prepared. It's important to note that this is a take-away only establishment.

It’s a shame they don’t have decaf coffee options, and their matcha and hojicha bases are already a bit sweetened 😢. That said, their slightly sweet matcha latte was actually pretty good, and we also enjoyed the canele we ordered and the latte. It’s just a bit pricey for the size

Cake itself and all the components were delicious! We also really appreciated that we were able to order the night before, which was pretty last minute! Thanks for accommodating us. -1 star unfortunately as foh placed the birthday plaque where the joinery of the sponge was, which i would consider the back of the cake. I think it’s important to place the plaque on the best facing part of the cake… us pastry chefs work so hard!! It’s a shame for the photo to be like that.

This cosy café, Sucre Du Jour, is clearly a local favourite. We indulged in a few treats, and the Ispandan Croissant 🥐 was an absolute delight, as was the Portuguese Egg Tart. The coffee ☕ was also top-notch – exactly what you hope for in Melbourne. A fantastic spot for a morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

This place is popular for tart mousse cake and Pork Floss Croissant but we have not had the opportunity to try these famous pastries and desserts. We would love to visit back here to try these if we had the chance 🥹 . 𝗣𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘅: it was quite little in the flavour of pistachio in the cream . 𝗜𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁: the pandan cream was not so outstanding in flavour; however, the rose lychee balanced the sweetness and buttery of the croissant. . 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮: very fragrant jasmine tea, which went along with the desserts and pastries . 𝗜𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲: decent strength of matcha flavour and the matcha latte was quite creamy

It's a very cozy spot to eat very well made & unique desserts! The limon tart is packed with a fresh citrus flavour profile and is well balanced. Onde hits the spot for me, they nailed the pandan flavour and the oozing gula melaka was just a chefs kiss as you dig into it 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 The place smells like freshly baked cookies as well so that's a bonus 🍪 Give them a go if you’re in the area and you will not regret having your belly filled with so much tasty treats 😮‍💨

Got a birthday cake Raya here for my daughter’s 8th birthday and I m not a sweets person and I finished it! There’s sweet, salty and all the usual Asian dessert flavours. So we decided to come here and taste their other desserts as well, we got the Miyuri, croissant and chocolate chip cookies, suffice to say it was all delicious and fulfilling to say the least. Definitely a highly recommend if you’re in the area and they open on the weekends so no excuses, we came from the west side for this!

My favourite desert place in town! The owners are super talented/creative and always work on coming up with new variety of deserts both amazingly delicious and aesthetically appealing, so you’ll never run out of new option to try on every time you visit. The only downside is that there are too many great options to choose from, makes it really difficult to make decision on which one to settle on :)

I love Cremorne Street Bakers, we work down the road and love them for work celebrations! I ordered the sponge cake for my mums birthday! It’s was spectacular a light sponge and beautiful thick cream and blackberry compote with whole blackberries, not too sweet but delicious and voted the best cake from the family! Cremorne Street Bakers have the most beautiful cakes and a large selection and really good prices for the size!!! But go the sponge you won’t be disappointed!!! Yum! 🥰

Excellent cake!! Got the double chocolate ganache cake and it's every chocolate cake lovers dream come true. Super moist, rich dark chocolate. What made it better was the customer service. Needed to make changes a couple of times and the bakery was extremely helpful and efficient.

I’m a regular customer of Cremorne st bakers and they are excellent. They have become my number 1 go to for Christmas and Easter gifts as well as birthday cakes. Only challenge is getting into their store with a pram but they have always accommodated a pick up from their drive way which I really appreciate.

Thank you for making REAL cakes! We had the Peanut Butter Chocolate Toffee cake delivered today for a birthday celebration. The ordering was easy, the delivery was on time and well communicated. The flavours in the cake we received were exactly as described. It looked exactly as pictured on the website, probably a little bigger irl than it looked on the website actually. Just the best store bought cake I have ever tasted, rivals the best homemade cakes, even my own 😄 Cremorne Steet Bakers is going on our favourites list.
Nina M — Google review
Hands down the worst tasting cake I’ve ever had. Not sure how they have such a high rating. The frosting on my cake tasted of pure icing sugar and sponge is dense, very dark prior to icing, and dry as desert. Not worth the $120 dollars, coles makes better cakes than this. As a cake lover and chef, I was really looking forward to a fantastic birthday cake from a reputable cake shop; it was a let down from as soon as I tried to sliced through. This cake is all aesthetic and no soul. Biggest let down of my birthday and will never go back or recommend to anyone. There are a million of better cake shops in Melbourne like Cake by Kendyll. Give this one a miss. Harsh? Maybe, but I’m passionate about cakes. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money.

Delicious cakes I always get Nikos cakes since we are the first one. Just got one for my Birthday, 2 weeks ago for our Wedding and for the Bridal Shower. They are all delicious and pretty cakes, I’ve communicated with Sofia for our Wedding and the Bridal Shower cakes and she was awesome. Thanks again for the yummy cakes

Niko's has some of the best cakes and coffee I've ever had. I heard George Clooney likes to stop by here so I just had to try it. There were some pigeons and I heard someone exclaim, "Oh no they're coming in through the backdoor!" But the Niko's team got that sorted quickly. I highly recommend this place.

This cake shop and cafe is a lovely place to visit. They have good options with great taste, and the cafe makes it even better for a quick stop. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Prices are fair, which makes it worth coming back. You can just walk in, but if you want a specific cake, it’s better to pre-book. The only challenge is finding timed street parking nearby, but overall it’s a great spot.

I was surprised with a cake from Nikos Cakes for my 18th Birthday tonight. The talented team created the cake to look like my favourite book and the actual cake was designed as a book as well. It looked incredible to the point that I didn’t want to cut it, but it was delicious nonetheless. Thank you Nikos and continue the amazing work ❤️🔥

Lots of variety of desserts, very busy cafe and great atmosphere, we ordered pistachio cake (very sweet and liked the fluffiness) oreo mud cake (super dry, not very moist, not much oreo flavour) yoyo (not really sure what it was, lots of custud filling which was sweet and tangy. soy latte was nice. lots of options, would come back to try other desserts, I believe there are 20+ options and also have lots of savoury options on the other side of the store.

⭐ 1 Star – Rude and Unpleasant Experience I visited Niko’s Quality Cakes in Oakleigh and had one of the most unpleasant customer experiences I’ve had in a while. While I was taking a short video of the sweets at the counter, an older woman who works there abruptly interrupted me — like a seagull swooping in — just to get behind the counter. I let it go and bought a Turkish pistachio pastry for $8.90, asking her to pack it since I had an appointment after. I sat down outside for a few minutes to enjoy it and take a quick photo, but she came at me again and told me to get out because it was a smoking area. I wasn’t smoking, just quietly eating what I’d just paid for. The tone and attitude were unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Businesses like this are supposed to make people’s days a little brighter — not treat customers as a nuisance. It’s sad to see a place with good-looking pastries and such poor customer service.

I bought two pieces of the vanilla slice cake to take away. The taste was good and the creamy part reminded me of the popular german dessert called bee sting cake. I just didn’t like the top and bottom puff pastry too much, which could be replaced into a more fluffy batter for my taste buds.

Price on the high side although probably the best VS l've had by far as the balance, texture, flavour, lightness, crispy light laying and overall i had no fatigue after eating this. Truly an outstanding piece 9/10 from me as not a fan of dusting although it's a 10/10 all day long.

When you need to eat sweet treats you come here. And today it was for a vanilla slice known as one of the best in Melbourne. There are lots of sweet choices as well as some savoury pies to choose from. Large cheesecakes, mid ales right up to wedding cakes on offer. There are only a few chairs and tables inside if you wanted to stay and eat but in warmer months you can sit outside and watch the world of Nicholson Street go by. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly sky. Good parking out the front. A must visit.

6 stars if I may! 💗Vanilla Slice💗 Friend bought us their Vanilla Slice (see photo in square) and they are soooooo good!! Like so soooo good. Creamy, smooth and not too sweet which is perfect for us. 💗Baked Cheesecake💗 Wanted to get their Vanilla slice in cake form (which they call it Mille Feuille) but it requires at least a day notice. So I went with their 2nd best seller… Baked Cheesecake and we were elated! Apart from the creamy-licious and well balanced sweetness, love the crunchy thin base with a hint of coconut. We topped with a couple of cherries and it was perfect for our pre-Christmas gathering. One of my friend who is a dessert lover approves too ☺️ 🧑🏼‍🍳Service🧑🏼‍🍳 Spoke with Jennifer on the phone and she was really kind and helpful. When we were in the shop, I got a bit of my Parisian fix with the French accent by one of the crew 😁 💰Value💰 Fairly priced imo. $7 for a vanilla slice. $50 for baked cheesecake Note that the shop is not too big (yet filled with so many goodies!!) and there were only 2 tables outside.

Very good bakery!! It was a shame the regular Almond Croissant was already sold out at 10am, but luckily the Chocolate Almond Croissant was there too. It’s an incredible bakery, from a huge selection of bread, to pastries, danishes, Portuguese tarts and sandwiches. I loved the staff service too, they were very nice! Highly recommend

This bakery has my heart! Their blue cheese and garlic fougasse is hands down the best you’ll find in Melbourne. The almond croissant is also fantastic — for me, it’s the second best in town. I grabbed a garlic & rosemary fougasse, an almond croissant, and two regular lattes for $26.50. They’ve got a great selection of rolls, sandwiches, and breads. Highly recommend checking them out!

Thank God I came across this bakery! Ordered the egg salad sandwich, sticky bun and fruit danish. The sandwich was insanely delicious, loved it❤️ long queue and not much dine-in space, but there’s a lawn nearby where you can enjoy them under the sun☀️ 23.08.2025, Second visit today This spot is super worth it. $33 got me a sandwich, bread, a donut and coffee. The coffee was smooth espresso with berry notes and a hint of wine. Last but not least, always busy, but staffs were all really nice👍🏼 07.09.2025, Third visit today Got the weekly special: pecan pie! Absolutely delicious, and everything else is still phenomenal 🥹. This time, I spent $54 on two sandwiches, a strawberry danish, the weekly special pecan pie, and a mocha☕️ 14.09.2025, Fourth visit today Luckily, I got the last egg salad sandwich. Today, I tried the peanut & dulce de leche Suisse and it is absolutely amazing 🥰 What a wonderful indulgence! Ohh, and both of the chocolate donuts aren’t too sweet! “Not too sweet” is the best compliment from Asians when it comes to pastries. 20.09.2025, Fifth visit today Pretty sure I’ve found my go to order. Got the same thing again. It’s always busy, but the staff are super nice and welcoming every time. I think I’ll keep discovering nice things here. Hopefully one day you’ll release some Bread Club merch! I’ll definitely keep coming back and recommending you to others (hopefully I can still get my usual though 🤣)

I’ve saved this place for a few years now and I finally got to try it. I tried the dark chocolate chip cookie with sea salt and also the toffee scroll. One bite into the chocolate chip cookie and the rich and bitter taste of dark chocolate coats my mouth. The outer layer of the cookie is crispy while the inner part is chewy. I can’t imagine how good it will taste fresh out the oven. The toffee scroll was recommended by the person taking my order. The bread is a tad bit dry but it could also be because of the timing that I went. It wasn’t too sweet which always wins plus points for me. The walnuts are crispy, and the bread itself has some savoury notes to it. The cream on top saves the bread as the light sweetness and the moistness from it complements the dryness and savouriness of the bread. I would not say that I would crave these, but it’s well made pastries that won’t go wrong. I also would like to add that I found a reaaaaaaaaally small strand of hair in the cream (listed in the last photo). I understand accidents happen and you guys probably uphold sanitation in the kitchen. I’ll let it slide because the pastries were good. Just be careful!

One of the best bakes we’ve had this trip to Melbourne! Our local friend highly recommended the garlic & rosemary fougasse - and lo and behold, it was the BEST bread. Easily in my top 10 breads of all time. The financier was delightful too. I think there were gooey bites of Nutella in there?!? Still so good even the next day! We absolutely loved everything. Service was homely and warm, couldn’t have asked for more. It’s a little out of city centre, but so worth the travel. Definitely a must-visit! 🏃🏻💨

Visited this shop twice at around 8am and it was starting to get busy. Therefore highly recommended to arrive early to best the crowd. The quality and variety of bread and pastry are very good. Ordered a flat white one of the days and it was very, very good too. Extremely friendly staff to help you pick out what you need.

Small cafe with only 2 seating. There was a long at oneish, perhaps everyone was grabbing a quick bite? Had the Beef bourguignon. Goes well with the chilli sauce provided, otherwise it was too tad too salty for me. There were chunky pieces of beef and bacon, carrots. Nicely done.

What a gem of a bakery! 🍞 At Bread Club, the sourdough loaves, buttery croissants and rotating pastry fillings are crafted with passion and precision. The queue’s worth it because the quality shines through in every bite. Whether you grab a loaf or savour a morning pastry, this spot gives you the real artisan bakery experience, with warmth, flavour and a friendly nod to French technique. 🥐💕

Tarts Anon is a popular tart business founded by Gareth Whitton, former head pastry chef of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The shop offers classic flavors like chocolate and caramel tarts, as well as more contemporary options such as tiramisu, smoked pecan and maple, pumpkin spiced caramel, and carrot cake tarts. These delectable treats are known to sell out quickly at their pick-up only locations in Cremorne and Collingwood.
Fantastic tarts as always. The pistachio cream in the pistachio saint honore was just a bit bitter but other than that it was perfect and had the perfect crust. The raspberry jasmine tart was also divine, with the jasmine flavour shining through and working well with the raspberry. The ube passionfruit tart was nice and had a yummy but powerful passionfruit flavour that overpowered the ube a bit. Coffee was unfortunately disappointing for me, with my citrus cold brew tasting like medicine. Also got a soy matcha latte that was not bad, but would probably prefer a stronger matcha flavour and creamier milk texture. Still giving 5 stars because this is a tart shop.
Kiley L — Google review
I tried Tarts Anon’s special pandan coconut tart and it was amazing. The pandan had a subtle flavour that worked beautifully with the coconut, and the balance of flavours was spot on. The base was perfect, exactly what you’d want in a tart. I also tried the sticky date earl grey. I’m usually not a big fan of earl grey as it can be overly fragrant and almost soapy, but here it was done just right. The earl grey was delicate, complimenting the sticky date without overpowering it. I also had their ube foam matcha - the ube foam itself had a nice flavour, but the matcha was a bit average. The quality of the matcha used wasn’t amazing.
Nibble N — Google review
Came here on international coffee day and got a free coffee flan tart with an order of coffee. Also had two of the monthly special tarts which took about 20 minutes after opening time before they were available. The flat white was mildly strong and well balanced which paired well with the sweet tarts. The coffee flan tart was decent; quite flaky but didn't like the inner layer of the crust which seems to be slightly undercooked. However both the matcha strawberry and the hazelnut tiramisu tart were tasty and not too sweet.
Barry — Google review
The Smoked Pecan & Butterscotch Tart is unreal—perfect balance of sweet, nutty, and smoky in a buttery crust. Easily one of the best desserts in Melbourne. Can’t wait to try more!
Soumya H — Google review
Tarts Anon is one of those places that completely lives up to the hype. The tarts here are on another level — beautifully made, rich without being heavy, and absolutely packed with flavour. You can tell every tart is made with care, and the flavour combinations are creative but never over the top. The classic flavours (like lemon or chocolate) are perfect in their simplicity, while the seasonal specials are where they really shine — things you’d never think of, but somehow they just work. The pastry itself is always flawless: crisp, buttery, and the kind you can only get from people who know exactly what they’re doing. The shop has a simple, understated vibe that lets the tarts do all the talking. The staff are friendly and clearly passionate about what they’re making, which adds to the whole experience. It’s not the cheapest pastry in town, but the quality is so high that it feels worth every cent. They’re the kind of tarts you want to bring to a dinner party or keep just for yourself at home with a coffee — they always feel a bit special. Tarts Anon is easily one of the best pastry spots in Melbourne, and once you’ve tried them it’s hard to go back to anything else.
Angel C — Google review
Stopped in for a quick afternoon pick me up and boy did it hit the spot! The apple and elderflower tart was so delicately balanced with the sweet and slightly tart flavours while the chocolate and caramel was rich, creamy and gooey in all the right ways! Definitely go here if tarts and desserts are your thing!

Tokyo Lamington Melbourne is a popular bakery that originated in Tokyo and later expanded to Sydney before finally making its way to Carlton in 2022. Known for their freshly baked lamingtons, this spot has become a favorite among food enthusiasts. The cafe offers a variety of unique lamington flavors and also serves other delectable items such as quiche and coffee.
Lamington is just perfect, not too sweet and it hold it shape when holding. Melon matcha is very nice. Very strong melon smell and flavor, matcha flavor is a bit soft. Brown sugar bobba is really good. Bobba wasn't much inside, but the brown sugar bobba flavor is very obvious. The lavender matcha is very good. Very strong lavender smell, matcha flavor is very soft. Hojica latte is good. The sausage rolls are ok, the pork kastsu roll wasn't very taste like it, nasi lamak is nice, it had the chilli kick and the pastry coated with coconut. Very interesting. Tables only available indoor, and it is very similar to Japan. Small tables, but the cafe is very pretty. Staff are very friendly too. This is a card only cafe. They also sell others stuff too, like t shirt, cookies, coffee bean, etc. Street parking available.

This is a 10/10 for me 🥹 I wanna go back already, I found out about Tokyo Lamington in Carlton for a while for only got a chance to visit today and I’m very grateful! I came with my mum for a morning matcha run and she got a normal matcha latte while I tried the matcha lavender latte and while the sizes are quite small the matcha here is really a favourite of mine so it’s worth it! The flavour is really nice and strong and the lavender was also strong but I really enjoyed trying the different flavour. The miso mushroom pie had a really nice strong miso flavour and was really yummy. I also enjoyed the melon matcha lamington, it also has a strong melon flavour that I really enjoyed trying. The cafe itself is really nicely decorated, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with lots of plants. A true highlight of my visit was also the customer service because staff are very friendly and happy to help.

Nestled in the heart of Oakleigh, Vanilla Lounge is a vibrant bi-level Greek patisserie and Mediterranean restaurant that perfectly captures the essence of modern dining. This place is very busy for a reason. The food is fantastic, staff is great, though with all those people it does get noisy. We went on a Saturday night, and the soccer final was on. I loved the food so much, I forgot to take some pictures. I think this is only place i have given 5 stars to. Fantastic place.
Paul_Striple — Google review
Went to Vanilla Lounge for a sit down coffee and food. First went to the counter to order some desserts to take home later. We were told at least 3 times by the staff that we CANNOT eat these at the table, when asked why she said it's because they charge the tables more money, that's weird and really cheap... charging tables more for the same items seriously? After sitting down we were ushered and served by the rudest staff member. Middle aged woman with glasses with a sour attitude over nothing. After waiting 10 minutes, our coffees came out by a different staff member who was confused as the rude staff member must have put the wrong table number for our order, we had to call them over to deliver it to our table. I should mention the other waiting staff were lovely. After a horribly crafted coffee and horrible service we cancelled the rest of our large order and walked out. I've had better looking instant coffee let alone paying these prices (see my pictures). Place is loud and hard to talk, also has a door that keeps swinging open and blowing cold air at a bunch of tables. What an embarrassment, I recommend you get take-out desserts and snacks and leave as fast as you can.
Tander A — Google review
The food was fairly average — nothing particularly memorable in terms of flavor or presentation. However, the service stood out as a positive aspect; the staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout the meal. One major downside was the noise level. The restaurant was extremely loud, making it difficult to hold a conversation or even hear the person sitting next to you.

Visited Vanilla Lounge in Oakleigh tonight. The atmosphere was lively—perhaps a bit loud at times, but still manageable for a good night out. Service was definitely a highlight, with plenty of attentive staff making sure everything ran smoothly. I was hoping for a bit more variety in the offerings, as the display was limited to just one main island. Still, the quality was solid and overall it was an enjoyable experience. Would come back again!

Came to try the new dessert bar. Decided to have coffee first as we were a little early and the outside staff guy was fantastic! Great chai Latte. Finally dessert time and it was so good. Over 60 toppings to choose from! And you can top pastries or just get a cup yochi style. It's like yochi on steroids. We ended up taking cakes home as well to share with family, because everything was so fresh and delicious! Would definitely go again!

Lune Croissanterie, located in Melbourne CBD, started as a small shop in Elwood where locals would line up early to get their hands on the exquisite croissants. The owner, Kate Reid, with a background in aerodynamics, used her technical skills to perfect the art of croissant making. Now housed in a larger bakery in Fitzroy, Lune has gained international acclaim and is considered by some as possibly offering the best croissants globally.
As I started to write this review I’ve asked myself a few times if waiting in the line was worth it - and I keep coming back to ‘yes.’ The line can get long, we waited about 20-25 minutes, but there’s a reason why so many people are visiting. The pastries are fantastic and the coffee is even better. Coffee was definitely the highlight for me. If you have the time I suggest stopping by Lune.

I was here for at least 3 times over a week during my holidays here in late July. That explains how good the pastry here is. Tasted almost everything that is offered here. Price is on the high side, but the quality made it up. This cafe is a bit small, more suitable for takeaway or a quick bite before you move on. There is road side parking just right in front of the cafe so it is very convenient for those who drives.

Finally tried Lune as I’m usually buying from Agathe or South Melbourne bakery. We tried a few and the quality is good, crunchy and soft. Our favourite was the ham and cheese, absolutely delicious. Always wondered about the line every weekend and then we saw how small it is on the inside. Quality might have something to do with it too. They’re expensive but what isn’t these days. Service was excellent. Thank you 🙏

A famous croissant shop in Australia — today I finally got to try the Melbourne branch! Luckily, the queue wasn’t too long. The croissants were delicious and lived up to their reputation — perfectly crisp and flaky. If you love that crunchy texture, you’ll probably enjoy these. Personally, I think if the line were much longer, it might not feel that worth the wait, but the quality is definitely good. The prices are on the higher side, though still reasonable given the large portion size. My favorite was the original, while the almond one was also nice. I also tried the chocolate but found it just okay — the lemon one, however, was really well done! 🥐🍋

I finally had the chance to visit this place, and what I loved most were the coffee and the fresh, delicious pastries. There's not much else to say—it's a small, mostly takeaway spot. I wasn't actually aware of that beforehand, which was a bit of a surprise 😅. The place has a minimalist vibe, and I really appreciated how the menu was displayed on the table—very easy and thoughtful. I guess I was expecting a coffee shop with tables and chairs but overall, the coffee and pastries were fantastic. It was quite a busy spot, but that just shows how popular it is!
Ayushi S — Google review
I usually am pretty forgiving in reviews but with such a famous establishment I am sad to say it was…meh. I went with a group of 5 people, one of them was me. Two of them got coffee, I asked one to write what they thought of it and they wrote “With a lack of coffee milk options and an extraction that tastes sour despite being based on good Ona beans, it feels like Lune needs to focus on good coffee to pair with their excellent pastries.” To sum it up in their words ”the coffee was shit”. Some would say that Lune is about the pastries and not the coffee and I agree, I am sad to say the pastries were meh. My friend said it wasn’t worth it and I have to agree. At an average of $6 to $8 a pastry, they felt more created to look nice than taste good. In fact I would say they rely on looks, from the ridiculous lines, them making the pastries in front of you and of course the beautiful looking pastries.
Zachary C — Google review
The service at Lune was great, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The croissants are definitely on the pricier side, and I would have liked the option to have them toasted given the cost. That said, I understand it’s a very busy spot so it might not be practical. Seating would have been nice, though I do appreciate the unique standing experience they offer. The option of sparkling and still water on tap is a great touch. We ordered two almond croissants, which were beautifully made and clearly high quality, but overall I’m not sure they fully justified the price.
Sasha G — Google review
Ordered an almond and classic crossiant. Almond is a 5 on 5. Flaky, perfect amount of sweetness and good taste of almond. The classic crossiant was a 3 out of 5. A little soggy for my liking. People who like crossaint on the more flaky and crispy end, might not like it. Sorry I was so excited, I ate it first and then took the pictures 😂

Chéri is a stylish and sophisticated sweet shop located in South Melbourne, offering a wide array of artisan chocolates, macarons, cakes, and other delectable treats. The venue boasts a beautiful interior where visitors can indulge in handcrafted cakes, bonbons, macarons, biscuits, gelato, and chocolates that are all made with traditional French artisanship.
I tried the mandarin and jasmine small cake, along with the Eye Candy cake — both were a true delight. The mandarin and jasmine offered a delicate, fragrant sweetness that lingered beautifully, while the Eye Candy was a vibrant burst of flavor and texture. Each bite felt thoughtfully crafted, almost like dessert poetry. A must-try for anyone who appreciates unique and artful sweets. The pandan coconut croissant, while pleasant, lacked the same magic. Its flavors were gentle, perhaps too restrained — not disappointing, but not quite reaching the heights of the other offerings. A beautiful spot for adventurous desserts, with moments of brilliance and charm.

I wanted to try some desserts and they turned out amazing! The desserts are super cute, and I even bought some takeaway for my friend to try. Everything was delicious and beautifully decorated. The space is big, perfect for meeting up with friends. Definitely a must-try!!

Nice chilli kick to the pasta which was probably more al dente than I would normally like, but the combination of ingredients was tasty. Salad was simple but done well. Shouldn’t get Caesar wrong but unfortunately many places do, I liked it here. Mushroom pizza had plenty of mushroom but couldn’t really taste the truffle, still nice. The pepperoni was yummy with the hot honey and the stracciatella. The dough was pillowy soft, so I even ate the crust! I don’t normally eat crust but I really appreciated it was both chewy and soft. An overall yummy experience with the food. The desserts? I could pass. Strawberry matcha was too sweet and a waste of money. Coffee was acceptable. The service was quite scrambled and rushed and hard to get service at times as the cafe was really busy so I kinda expected that. For example, got our dishes but no utensils or extra plates so had to go back and forth a few times. Ignore that lack of attentiveness and just eat.

After trying their version of lemon meringue, pandan croissant and almond croissant a couple months back via a special promotion, I decided to come back to try out their cakes for Father's Day and got their father's day gateau and lemon tart. Absolutely top notch in flavors and presentation. So glad I found another quality and reliable boutique bakery on this side of town, highly recommended! The place is actually quite big, and they have a large seating area in the back too. Price guide (as of Sep 2025): Medium sized Father's Day Gateau $65 Medium sized lemon tart $35 Single serve cakes mostly <$20 Mocha $6.50

Beautiful French-style desserts and pastries, baked fresh daily 🥐🍰 Everything is so delicate and delicious – from the Cheri Supreme Pizza to the Yuzu Cheesecake and Cruffin. Perfect spot right next to South Melbourne Market. Highly recommended!

Breakfast @cherieatery 👄 👄 Chérie opened for ages but I didn’t realise that they not only do cakes and icecream, they do savoury breakfasts as well! I had their matcha latte and it was delicious and smooth. Their chicken cotoletta was fresh , crispy and delicious! My only gripe is that the music was a bit loud for an early morning breakfast and everyone was shouting over each other just to be heard.

Just a short walk from the South Melbourne Markets, Cherie Café is found at 285-287 Coventry St. This vibrant patisserie is a dessert aficionado's dream. On a sun-kissed winter Sunday, our group of six embarked on a sweet degustation that definitely required tracksuit pants, as our eyes certainly outstripped our stomach capacities. The café buzzes with energy, filled with laughter and an abundance of tourists. The décor is a kaleidoscope of orange and red, perfectly complementing the eye-catching cake display. This place breaths indulgence. I personally savored six cakes, each one better than the last. In fact, I can’t choose a favorite; they all rock! Cherie is or wil become an icon stop not to be missed, especially if you dare to embrace the risk of extreme overindulgence. A solid 10/10

Only tried the pastries so far, they are not cheap, but they are tasty. Seating is not cramped, and the place feels more casual. 5*, been here twice and will be back. I’ve tried - the chocolate brownie croissant, fruit danish, ham & cheese croissant, truffle mushroom croissant and croissant cube.

Been coming here for 3 years and the pastries have always been great. However, there have been a few instances of price discrepancies and missing orders, so I could see improvements in service to really boost the establishment. Picked up a slice of their bread and butter pudding with apricots this morning, and while lovely I was surprised to pay $9 at the till, given there’s to pricing signage anywhere. I would recommend that items are labelled with a description and price, as sometimes I am surprised at the total when paying (as was the case today). All in all, great local bakery.

We wanted to try this local bakery. The offer a lot of options, mostly sweet pastries. We tried the hazelnut croissant and the ham&Chee with bechamel sauce. They were both good, balanced. I would say they were good but nothing special. I think it's a good option for a low key weekend treat. The prince range in my option is high for the quality we paid $18 for the two croissants. For now, I wouldn't return to buy the same items.

I stumbled upon the S’roll on Google Maps while I was in the area this weekend. The bakery was relatively empty when I visited past 1 pm. The S’roll is generously portioned and filling. Despite the thin crust, it doesn’t make me feel overly carb-loaded, though I probably did. It’s a delightful savoury treat that’s also satisfying enough for a lunch. Their other pastries look really good as well! Will return again :)
Y T — Google review
A lovely artisan bakery with quality goods. Primarily we came for the almond croissant in our journal of the best Almond Croissant in Melbourne and Aus. Tivoli scores a solid 7.5/10, generous filling, not as airy as I'd like but a definite recommender stop if you're around and craving an almond croissant. Will definitely stop by again when we're in the area again!

I've been several times and I've loved it every time, their pastry cream is top tier! I've tried their chocolate and caramel croissant, strawberry danish, Bischoff croissant, cruffin, hazelnut and tiramisu pastry, as their strawberry and cream croissant out of their sweet food, and I've tried their pies, sausage rolls, and spanakopita out of their savoury pastries, I think their sweet pastries are better than their savoury, but still they are all good, and I enjoy their hot chocolates as well, if you're in the area I would totally give it a shot

Ice cream shop
Located in the heart of Melbourne's Italian neighborhood, Pidapipo CBD is a bustling shop offering traditional gelato with classic and creative seasonal flavors. The retro-funky authentic gelateria was created by Lisa Valmorbida, who honed her gelato-making skills at Italy's Carpigiani Gelato University. The dozen or so milk-based and dairy-free flavors are scooped out of traditional lidded canisters and served in cones or tubs with various toppings.
The ice cream is quite sweet but still good. I ordered Salted Caramel and Ricotta Fig Ja, both were delicious. You can ask the staff for samples, but since the line gets pretty long, you might not have much time to try many flavors. Ordering 2 or 3 scoops in one cup is actually cheaper than getting just one
MINT’s R — Google review
Had the opportunity to try their cream cheese, caramel, carrot cake ice cream (that’s the flavour). It was really nice, very creamy and sweet. Very subtle hints of the carrot cake and it was more cream cheese-y and caramel. Also got their hot chocolate… it was topped with ice cream. It was very rich and smooth… the ice cream adds that satisfying coldness to it. Highly recommend this place!

Definitely my favourite gelato store in Melbourne! All the flavours are fantastic and traditional from Italy. Never get disappointed on the monthly specials as well. Mostly recommend pistachio and salted caramel for all the time! See how many times I had been here!

Tried their Pistachio + Passion Fruit & Ginger combo — absolutely divine! 💚💛 The pistachio was creamy, nutty, and rich, while the passion fruit and ginger sorbet added the perfect tangy and refreshing contrast. Such a balanced and addictive mix! The texture was super smooth, and you can really taste the quality ingredients. Beautiful shop vibes too — bright, modern, and cheerful. Definitely one of the best gelatos I’ve had in Melbourne! 🍨✨

What a delightful gelateria! We stopped by for a treat and were so impressed. We ordered two scoops: one pistachio and one coconut. The pistachio was wonderfully nutty and authentic, while the coconut was incredibly creamy and fresh. Together, they were a match made in heaven! The price was very reasonable for the high quality. A must-try spot for gelato lovers in Melbourne.

I love they open heater when outside is too cold. I prefer pistachio in here than Piccolina very salty. I taste more nutty flavor here, but at first I not quite used to the strong flavor. Nutella is not that good actually, expect should be more chocolate.

I thought I’d try the signature hot chocolate winter special. It didn’t disappoint. Heavenly on a cold Melbourne winters evening. The perfect balance of hot chocolate and gelato. The marshmallows take it to the next level. Stopping at just one is hard to do! Only available until end of August. Definitely worth the price.

Their gelato is supreme - the texture is perfect, and the flavour just washes over you in the most heavenly way. It was so good we came back here 2 more times! I would most highly recommend their vanilla and honeycomb, which might be one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. Take note that there may be a queue and a little bit of a wait, but their gelato is absolutely worth it.

Came here on a weekend day just after lunch before they close. We ordered the croissant with home made jam, and a egg baguette sandwich. Both of which are divine. The bread crunch and the flavour of the egg and mayo is moorish and can’t be stopped.
Jay C — Google review
Once I came by this bakery as they were closing. To be honest I think they had closed and forgot to lock the door. The guy working there sold me a loaf of bread for cheap, and gave me a free pastry and a free sandwich. It was such a bounty of baked goods.

For a bakery with only a few tables, Loafer packs in the quality. Organic, biodynamic flours, artisan technique — you can taste the difference. And it feels like a proper local treat.
Chris H — Google review
Such a cute nook just off St Georges Rd! Loafer bread is definitely an Melbourne institution that cannot be missed, and I'm so happy that I finally got to try their pastries. From first glance you can already tell its going to be a yummy pastry as the colouring and shine on the outside is perfect. The pastry was both crunchy and flaky which is a must for me, and it had a well cooked taste which I enjoyed as well. The actual inside of the croissant was well cooked and super super light, but there wasn't too much flavour to it unfortunately and lacked the sweet and buttery taste I tend to look for in a croissant. Rating: Flakiness and Crunch 9/10 Flavour: 7/10 Lamination: 7/10 Overall it was an above average croissant and I reckon it deserved a 7.5/10 🤩

I’ve worked in hospo my whole life and just moved down to Melbourne in January so I’ve never been a regular of my own ever. I’m so glad I moved in down the road from loafer. The coffee is delish, I love bringing my own mug it’s the best idea. The pastries are one of the best in Melb. Every staff member is so lovely, but I need to give a special shoutout to Ken as he has made my morning every time I go! We love you Ken! And of course Patrick is awesome and I always love having a chat.

Delicious crispy almond croissant for the best value in Melbourne! Loafer Bread was this week’s agenda on my list of finding the best croissants in Melbourne. For only $6.50, with staff who kindly warmed up the pastries, I highly recommend trying it out! Compared to the other almond croissants in the game, this one’s got a hefty amount of almonds which adds a heap of nutty flavour but I’m not complaining! Butteriness is an understatement! It’s more on the crispier side than it is flaky, and just a little bit over baked at that time :( The frangipane filling inside was definitely the star of the show here - good amount of spices with a nice mellow tone of rum, soft consistency. Personally didn’t blow my mind and I would prefer it less sweeter but if it was in my area, 100% would be grabbing this on the regular! Food: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 5/5

The bakery's offerings include an array of delectable bread such as country wheel, ficelles, bagels, and olive fougasse.
discovered this bakery on Instagram and decided to visit to buy some bread. When I arrived, there was a long queue, and I waited about 15 minutes to enter. The staff was very busy, but they managed everything well. The prices are slightly higher than average, but the variety of baked goods is good. Overall, I liked it!

Had the chicken sandwich, it's alright nothing to write home about. I was expecting the bread to be the start of the show, being they are famous for their bread, but it was just alright. I'm a bit underwhelmed because it was a bit pricey. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience.

Delicious and Decadent. My partner and I had the tuna sandwich, cinnamon scroll, and the margarita pesto pizza from here, and my goodness, it's heavenly. Highly recommend it. It was our first time there and the attendent that served us threw in an extra scroll too - which made our day 🥰 It's slightly on the higher end of prices but rightfully so because that's the level of quality and flavour their products exude and pack.

A lovely bakery with a great assortment of pastries. They are one of the few bakeries in Melbourne that make the Kouign amann- unfortunately they tend to be a bit more burnt than other bakeries version, but the unburnt ones are fantastic. Not a lot of space to eat, esp in winter, but the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent and the coffee is delicious. Do yourself a favor and try their cinnamon scroll 🤤

I wanted to hop by before uni to get myself a treat, I got there at 10am and have been really wanting to try the salad sandwich however they said they didn’t serve it until after 10 and it was already 10, I just don’t understand how they had every other sandwich but the salad sandwich when it doesn’t even require any sort of protein? So I got the chicken sandwich instead, which I’ve already had before. I also got the sausage roll and it was given to me cold :( I wish I could’ve given better service and product next time.

Fantastic Twice-Baked Mango Coconut Croissant. The lamination was crazy and the filling tasted super fresh. Despite not being warm, the pastry still had an amazing crunch and frangipane to it. Definitely coming back for the other pastries some day!

The pastry was quite good! It had a nice flaky texture and was baked to a golden perfection. The filling was flavorful, though it could have been a bit richer. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. I’d rate it 80/100—solid and satisfying!

Beautiful, quality pastries. We’re here on a weekend and pretty busy, but the line moves fast. Coffee was average but worth your time for the pastries - will return to try out the loaves.
Celeste W — Google review
It’s a bit of a mixed pastry experience. The croissant was decent but nothing to rave about — a bit underwhelming in flakiness and depth of flavour. However, the Kouign-amann was absolutely outstanding — perfectly caramelized, rich, and buttery with a great balance of crisp and chew. The real surprise hit was the Vegemite danish — a genius combo of savoury, cheesy, and just enough pastry sweetness to keep it interesting.

A huge thank you to the team at Q Le Baker for helping me with my marriage proposal! The service was absolutely fantastic. They were so flexible and accommodating when I had to change my plans. I gave them a very brief idea of what I wanted, and they delivered a cake that was more beautiful and delicious than I could have ever imagined. They created a stunning Burnt Basque Cheesecake with fresh raspberries and a touch of gold leaf. The raspberries were so fresh and held their form perfectly, making it very presentable. The cake itself was incredible—it had a classy level of sweetness that wasn't overwhelming. The crumb had a satisfying texture that was perfectly firm without being burnt. I would describe this bakery as ‘fine enough’…Almond croissant was not that fantastic honestly. The almond filling was too thick and clunky I found. Patisserie
Millé & B Patisserie, located in Carlton, is known for its exquisite crepe cakes made with twenty delicate layers of thin crepes, each filled with unique and delicious fillings. One must-try option is the Yuzu & White Chocolate crepe cake, featuring Japanese yuzu juice and Belgium white chocolate topped with chopped pistachios and yuzu almond dacquoise.
I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake as well as the Lychee and Longan shortcake for a party I had coming up, and safe to say that we scraped those trays clean, not a single crumb left behind. The sponge cakes were so fluffy and light and the cake itself wasn’t too sweet. I would definitely come back to purchase more, in fact I wish I had just bought a personal cake for myself XD. Considering the price point, I would say it’s pretty well priced compared to other cakes I have ordered in the past. Definitely would recommend to others and I will for sure be ordering from them for my next event!! (the holes in the cake were from the candles)

Millé & B offered a pretty large selection of crepe cakes, macarons & drinks. We tried the black sesame & taro crepe cakes with a side of blueberry vanilla macaron. The crepe cakes looked pretty but were not very decadent nor did they have very strong flavors. Macaron with its crispy shells was pretty good, yuzu & lime soda was refreshingly delicious. Lovely cosy atmosphere and quick service.

Little crepe cake shop hidden in the middle! Stumbled across this patisserie as we were walking along to kill time. Have a good range of crepe cake slices which all look stunning! We got the Taro slice, which was amazing. The artistry to ensure that all layers are consistently equal, even spread of normal cream and taro cream! Deffs recommend for the cute vibes and just a great crepe cake!

It’s literally been a while since I’ve been back here but I’m so glad this shop is still going strong and the quality remains the same since. Never went low. I tried the pistachio dream this time around and it was good! The bf loved it for his birthday cake ❤️ I do note though that the pistachio is subtle so don’t expect loud or bold flavours. Also, staff are extremely nice and helpful which is always a plus!

The taro mille crepe cake was light and delicate in flavour and the Earl Grey Dark Chocolate Macaron had a light taste of early grey that lingered and wasn't overpowered by the dark chocolate. Both great flavours, would definitely recommend.

A hidden gem of a dessert shop in the city! The staff were kind, and the cake was exactly what I hoped for in a crepe cake. The seasonal mandarin flavor made me happy ( *・ω・)

Not a big fan of sweets, but this is no doubt my favourite cake shop! Been ordering Crepe Cakes here for 4+years and it never disappoints. Presentation is always good. Cakes are always made on time AND Prices are definitely reasonable. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Not to mention their shop interior is definitely the stylish, cleanest and tidy cake shop I ever seen! I wish they had a loyalty program - because of how often I go sometimes. Otherwise, would greatly recommend to friends, dates and families.

LeTAO Melbourne, the flagship store of a Hokkaido-based brand, opened in Melbourne last year. The shop offers a variety of cheesecakes including their signature Double Fromage and exclusive items like Neige Blanc and Snow Cake. Their milk and cheese-swirled soft serve is a must-try, especially when paired with Market Lane coffee.
I paid about $15 for this ice cream and cheesecake. It is super delicious. They mix the cheesecake into the ice cream which is banging. Came here a second time and they had run kut of thr half and half ice cream and cheesecake. Still good though!

One of our favourite recent finds. We’ve bought our last two birthday cakes from here, and the size is truly perfect for the two of us. Something we can enjoy during the night and for a few days to come. We bought their recent seasonal cakes and enjoyed both, with the Yuki Akari being our shared favourite. A perfect balance of sweet and creamy, light and refreshing. Pick-ups have been smooth, and the staff are polite and kind. We appreciate the late opening hours, which has meant that we can pick up our cakes after dinner. What we’ve ordered: 🍊 Yuki Akari – $49 🍓 Strawberry Double Hokkaido Ichigo – $45

Absolutely loved their cakes! 🎂 Super soft, light, and not too sweet — just perfect. Even my mum loved it!

One of the nicest dessert shops I’ve found so far. Their cheesecakes and ice cream are so delicious. Nice and friendly staff. Very fine and modern setting. Highly recommended.

Dropped by LeTao and tried their soft serve — it was rich, creamy, and paired perfectly with their signature cheesecake. We wanted to try more of their cakes, but unfortunately, they were only sold as whole cakes. Since there were just two of us, we were worried we wouldn’t be able to finish it. Hopefully, they’ll offer cake slices in the future — we’d love to try more! Still, a great experience overall and highly recommended for dessert lovers.

LeTAO Melbourne is the kind of pâtisserie that makes you spark up a grin the moment you catch sight of the display. You step in off high street foot traffic and instantly the warm glow of glass cases stacked with dainty sweets and signature cheesecakes welcomes you. The noise and pace of the street drift away, replaced by soft instrumental music and the scent of fresh cream and baked sugar. Staff greet you quickly, letting you pause at the counter to decide without feeling rushed, the vibe relaxed even when there’s a queue forming. Sweets here carry a reputation, and for good reason. The Double Fromage cheesecake arrives with a delicate, baked top and a melt-in-your-mouth interior that balances tang, sweetness, and that buttery crumb base. Mochis filled with fresh berry creams are fragrant and light, contrasting beautifully with the richer mont blanc or chocolate gâteau. Every slice is presented with care, and even the garnishes look practiced rather than slapped on. Drinks support the sweets rather than compete: espresso is smooth and balanced, and the hot milk tea comes lightly sweet and creamy, perfect for cutting through rich flavors. A few tips. Visit during mid-afternoon or early evening when it’s less crowded; mornings can get busy with walks in for coffee. Space is cozy, so it’s best for solo indulgence or small groups. Prices lean toward the premium side, but considering the quality and the artistry, they feel fair if you treat this as a tiny treat-me moment rather than everyday. Perfect for picking up a celebratory slice, treating a friend, or saving a little luxury for yourself in the middle of a busy day.
Le G — Google review
We tried their ice-cream + cheesecake bowl and were completely blown away. The dessert was rich, smooth and beautifully balanced. There is usually a short queue but clearly worth the wait. The store design is impressive - clean, minimalist, with stone and concrete style finishes that make the desserts stand out like works of art. You can sample different desserts before buying. Also, they serve soft-serve ice cream in milk or cheese flavours, and many of the cheesecakes are shipped from Japan and then thawed or served fresh in the store. Overall, if you love premium desserts and a stylish café environment, LeTAO Melbourne delivers. The craftsmanship, flavour and setting all combine to create something memorable.

Bakery
Dröm Bakery, located in Bayswater, is a French-inspired bakery known for its early morning bakers who craft an array of delightful pastries and bread. The bakery offers a captivating experience as customers can watch the baking process through glass windows. The bakery's dark yet funky atmosphere adds to its charm, making it a popular spot despite the occasional long lines. In addition to pastries, Dröm Bakery also serves sandwiches, pies, cakes, and coffee for those on the go.
Fantastic bakery with so many delicious options to choose from! While the prices are on the higher side, every bite is absolutely worth it. I visited on a weekday and the service was quick, but be prepared for a long queue if you're going on a weekend. A must-try spot for anyone with a sweet tooth! Some savory option available too.
Megha S — Google review
Tried their sandwich and some big sweet rolls...the taste was really good, though a bit harder to bite than I expected (not as soft as I thought it would be). The bakery gets very busy with long lines, so best to go early or avoid peak hours. Prices add up quickly if you buy 2–3 items, and it’s honestly hard to stop at just one. That being said, I did find the prices on the higher side. Another downside is that there isn’t enough seating inside, and parking was also quite difficult to find. Overall, I’d recommend it if you’re really craving this kind of baked good, but personally, I wouldn’t go back because of the high prices and lack of space.

Located in Bayswater just next to “The Hatter & the Hare” (same owners) It’s a shame this bakery doesn’t have tables / seating (indoor or out) for those who’d like to sit / relax & enjoy their coffee / breakfast / lunch with their croissants 🥐 I got there at 10:15 and the cabinet already looked half empty, didn’t look like they were restocking anything, so I figure you’ve got to go early to see & experience the whole range. My first time here so I thought I’d try a few, I chose the Lemon🍋 & Blueberry 🫐 Basque Cheesecake & the Macadamia Dubai Chocolate Fullmoon. The artistry & attention to detail in these creations is amazing, they look too good to destruct. I was surprised at how hard they were at the initial bite, I imagined them to be soft, smooth, airy & buttery ~ they were not, they were however, tasty & very sweet & packed full of the ingredients mentioned. The cost is very pricey, in saying that, they are a piece of art & I appreciate the work that goes into them. I ordered an almond cap without asking what almond milk they use, my coffee was terrible, i had to throw it out 🤢 I only ever drink “milk lab” from cafes, this was definitely NOT milk lab, tasted like some cheap & nasty almond milk. (I’d be interested to know what they use?) My bad! Overall, this bakery is well worth the visit, but I recommend coming early. Would definitely give it another go as it’s not far from home.
MazCal — Google review
There’s no denying that Dröm Bakery knows how to impress visually — the pastries are creative, detailed, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is lively and the displays are picture-perfect. That said, I personally found the taste didn’t quite live up to the presentation. The items I tried (pretzel & butterscotch date pudding pastry) were lovely to look at but rather mild in flavour. Service was friendly but it took around 25 min for the Salmon bagel and three cheese curry toastie to come. Worth visiting if you enjoy artistic desserts and a stylish setting, though I’d love to see more focus on flavour to match the artistry.
Animesh S — Google review
Great pastries/croissants, the best I've found in Melbourne! This place is waaaay better than Lune Croissanterie. Highly recommend. I suggest to Dröm manager to improve the queue area. Once ordered, most people don't know where to wait. Also, adding extra display would help people at the end of the long queue to choose what to take while waiting.
Esauro88 — Google review
One of the absolute best Bakeries in all of Victoria I feel. If you can get here…I definitely would recommend this bakery over the overly-hyped and boring Lune. Always come back to try out their new season croissants. From something sweet to something savoury, they have options for whatever you’re feeling!

From bakery has such fancy and aesthetic croissants which are not only good looking but delicious!!! I had their hazelnut chocolate and rhubarb croissant, and it had the perfect amount of chocolate and had the perfect crunch. Completely loved it!!

Pastries have consistently been a delightful treat, always offering a wonderful experience for us. However, the coffee unfortunately is a let down. Its inconsistency makes it difficult to depend on, often leading to disappointment. It is a shame because the baked goods are undeniably exceptional!! Hopefully, improvements can be made to the coffee to match the high standard of the pastries.

Wild Life Bakery is a spacious warehouse bakery in Melbourne that offers an array of delectable bread and pastries. Their signature sourdough loaves, inspired by San Francisco's Tartine Bakery, are a must-try. The baguettes and sandwiches are generously filled with quality ingredients like sweet and nutty Comte cheese, Worcestershire-rich onion, pickled carrot, soft avocado, and roast beetroot.
Yum! We popped in today for lunch and were super impressed with both our food, the service and space here at Wild Life. I had the egg and chive sandwich which was so so good and Stacey got the mushroom toastie which she has proclaimed as the best she’s had in Melbourne. I scored a few bites and can agree it was delicious 🤤 The coffee was delightful, service was warm and friendly and there were lots of in house sauces and picked goods to buy take away. We loved it sitting at the big communal table inside and will easily be back to try more of the tasty menu here ♥️

This bakery was recommended to me by a friend, and it didn’t disappoint. Since I had eaten early, I tried the fermented chilli, garlic, and cheddar twist. It was good, though I think the pastry would be even better if it were warm. I love the aesthetic of the cafe. The glass panel allowed customers to see the kitchen in action, which was a nice touch. I’ll definitely be returning for more!

A hidden gem tucked away in a quiet residential pocket.. this sandwich bakery serves up some of the best toasties in Melbourne! While there was a bit of a queue, the service was quick. The sandwiches were freshly made, packed with flavour, and absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. And to top it off, the coffee was excellent... smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. Well worth seeking out if you are in the area!

came around 11 am on sunday, and everything was almost sold out. Plain Croissant Beautiful layers, but they don't reheat it so a bit hard to eat and can't enjoy the butter fragrance fully I bring my own tumblr but after payment I am confused because they say later. Turns out, they will call your name and then pour the drink directly into tumblr. Pastie Reheated yayy. Inside is mashed potato mixed with herbs. Similar to curry puff in Asians. But I'm not a fan of the sauce. They have indoor heater since the dining area is open, but i think it was too strong. I feel like my face is burned after sitting for a while.

i tried the focaccia & it was great - although i agree with the other reviewers saying it would probably be even better warm! good value as the slice was huge. friendly service & good seating available too. nice to see that they had sweet & savoury vg friendly options.
Raabia H — Google review
Great sourdough, but I’d steer clear of the coffee. I honestly can’t believe this is coming from someone who was once at Market Lane — how could Huw allow his baristas to serve coffee like this? I saw a latte being served with almost 40% froth and the barista making pour-over just splashed the water in a rush carelessly with no technique. I’d give the coffee a 2, but the bread deserves a 6. The sourdough is truly among the best in Melbourne. The toastie especially — with its pronounced tang, chewy texture, and moist crumb — is outstanding.

Really disappointed with the welcome and underwhelming set up here. Wanted to sit outside for coffee and food, no tables, long benches unsuitable for sitting as a group, wooden deck area spacious but put off by the dogs poo next to it. Went 200m down the road to a lovely cafe with a great vibe

Cafe
Le Bajo Milkbar is a delightful casual eatery that brings together the charm of Australian culture and Japanese culinary influences. Nestled in a spacious industrial setting, this unique café was born from co-owner Jason Gunawan's vision after his experiences during lockdown. The interior features an eclectic mix of vintage furniture and lush greenery, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests. The digital menu pays homage to Tokyo convenience store fare, crafted by chef Kantaro Okada.
It was my first time going there and I found the food very delicious and unique. The shokupan (Japanese Bread) was very fluffy, and I would highly recommend getting the Miso Mayo Corn toast, or the Butter toast. The staff were very kind and generous, and the atmosphere was very cosy. Strongly advise trying this place out.

Chill spot with Japanese cafe food and retro vibes. The ebi prawn katsu roll and mentai toast were just okay. But the dirty fries were the highlight—super crispy edges and perfectly coated in teriyaki butter. We also tried the iced salted kuromitsu hojicha, and even at $9, we’d absolutely get it again. Definitely planning to come back and try their famous sandos next time!
Bitesized D — Google review
As many others before me mentioned: prices are high, food is excellent, coffee could be a little more on the stronger and warmer side. Why atmosphere only 3 pts? The booming sound of a bass-laden “ sound system” , i.e. Bluetooth speaker, really does not enhance neither the atmosphere nor the music. Yes, it has the industrial , quirky touch (and location is not easy re good sound - but sacrificing good music (when Earth, Wind and Fire sound like Fox fm commercial:-) ? Come on guys… pls give it some more careful thought on that one!
Holger N — Google review
I had the original Katsu chicken sandwich and a Kinako latte ($6.5, limited time flavour). Which both were pretty good. Unfortunately our order didn’t go through on the QR code system and nobody noticed and we had trouble getting the waitresses attention to help us. The place was really cool it was in a garage type place and so was good to be inside. They make their own bread but as others have said here it is like regular bread. The sandwich would have been a lot better if it was a mayo or something in it but they wanted to charge an additional $2 to put it in (on top of the $23 you’re already paying). Another improvement would be to have more of an outdoor space. We waited 10 mins to get a table but could have easily sat outside or in the rest of the garage space if they had more seats. I think they’re trying to keep it exclusive… Overall, this is a cool Insta worthy place to check out but not worth the price IMO.
Tara S — Google review
Cheeky little cafe hidden in a small warehouse with some goodies for you to try. Udon was a special and I reckon they should keep it. Sandwiches were awesome and tasty but a tad pricey. A place to remember
Nick — Google review
I tried Spicy Tako Sando and Azuki Vienna. Sando was amazing, a lot of Octopus and bread was fluffy. Azuki Vienna super enjoyable. It falls on pricey side but overall nice place and awesome menu selections.
Regina S — Google review
This place is great. Sure it's pricey but it's worth it for the food, drinks and relaxing atmosphere. Chicken katsu sando was absolutely delicious. The only critique is that it is incredibly messy to eat - the cabbage keeps falling out. The iced strawberry milk sounds simple but is just perfect - sweet and yum but not over the top. Finished with a balanced matcha latte and fruit sando to take home - to full after the chicken sando!
Julia S — Google review
Le Bajo Milkbar feels like a slice of Tokyo retro fitted neatly into a North Melbourne warehouse. Light streams through tall windows onto polished concrete, potted palms and shelves of vintage Japanese tins. An old Coca-Cola sign hangs near the counter and soft city pop plays just loud enough to lift the morning mood without drowning conversation. The room smells of toasted shokupan and freshly ground coffee, an invitation that usually pulls a small queue toward the pastry cabinet. Breads and sandos are the stars here. The pork katsu sando arrives in thick milk bread that soaks up the tonkatsu sauce without turning soggy, while the egg salad version is laced with just enough Kewpie to stay creamy but not heavy. Curry pan lands hot and crisp, filled with gently spiced beef that calls for a quick sip of the house iced matcha. On the sweeter side the melon pan has a delicate crust that cracks perfectly when you bite, and the seasonal fruit sando stacks whipped cream and strawberries with the precision of a patisserie window. Coffee is roasted in house and poured strong; staff will happily swap dairy for oat or soy without fuss. Service keeps a friendly, unhurried rhythm. Staff greet regulars by name, offer samples of pastries that might disappear early and check back just enough to top up water before you think to ask. Seating can fill fast on weekends, though turnover is steady and a shaded outdoor area gives you a backup plan if the weather holds. Street parking along Leicester Street is short term, but the 58 tram stops a block away and makes arriving car free simple. Le Bajo is equal parts nostalgic milk bar and modern café, delivering thoughtful Japanese comfort food in a bright, welcoming space that encourages an extra coffee or a second visit later in the day.

Monforte Viennoiserie is a small bakery in Melbourne that has gained popularity for its Euro-inspired pastries and artisan jams. The menu is focused on a few offerings, with an emphasis on croissants and other pastries made on-site. The bakery's founder, Giorgia McAllister Forte, regularly rotates the pastry varieties based on seasonal inspiration and ingredients.
Monforte Viennoiserie - Leatherwood honey & sea salt $7.5 🍯 - Wattleseed, almond & chocolate tiramisu $10🍫 - Maple pain perdu, whipped cream & greengage $11.5 🍞 After my Nth attempt, finally got to try Monforte pastries. I couldn’t stop raving how good their pastries are! Their signature honey and sea salt was 5/5! Buttery, flakey with a honey wash on the outside and sea salt for balancing. The tiramisu was another star! Pastry still remained crispy even with a cream filling. The filling had the right amount of bitterness and sweetness! So well balanced! The Maple Pain Persu was slightly sugary for my liking. I did not regret waking early for them! Would 100% come back again!

Tried this cute local spot on my way to work, but left disappointed. The Jerusalem onion & cheese croissant was literally half a croissant, and the almond one started great but halfway turned into a bitter citrus custard—strange combo. No espresso, only filtered coffee with long-life milk, yet charged latte prices. Staff (possibly the owner) came off a bit blunt. Paid $27 for a half savoury, half almond-weird hybrid croissant, and a sad coffee. Definitely overpriced and not the vibe. Wanted to like it, but can’t recommend.

Delicious!! Definitely rate this the Best in Melbourne! Loved Todays savoury one: Jerusalem artichoke, roasted onion and taleggios, the pastry was crunchy, flaky and buttery and the filling had so much flavour, Delicious! The sweetness of the sweet varieties were also perfect. Service was friendly and helpful when questioned about the pastries.

My friend and I wanted to get these croissants before meeting up with our friends. So we left early and got there and tried the chocolate croissant and mango croissant. They were to die for. It’s this small little bakery basically a hole in the wall selling delicious pastries. I would definetly come back again just to have the mango croissant.

Baker D. Chirico is a renowned Italian-style bakery with three locations and a growing fan base. It is famous for its premium sourdough breads and an array of tempting house treats displayed in pastry cabinets. Customers often find it hard to resist leaving without indulging in creamy cannoli or fat bombolone alongside their crusty casalinga or panino purchases.
Really glad I found this bakery in Melbourne — genuinely satisfied. The girls working front of house are super friendly and attentive. The design of the place and the packaging are also worth appreciating. As for the food — I absolutely love it. The new items they bring out are always delicious. I’d highlight all their sourdough breads, and from the savoury options, the beef pie is a standout — the filling is excellent — and the veggie quiche is great too. The sausage roll is pretty good as well. I do miss the pickle beetroot sandwich and the chicken sandwich — both were amazing and I really hope they bring them back. On the sweet side, I’d highlight the hot cross buns — really good — and the Earl Grey pain au suisse. The pastry on the danishes is incredible too. I’d honestly try everything if I could. One thing I’d definitely request is for them to bring back that chocolate special they did for Valentine’s Day — it truly deserves to be a permanent item. Hope this review helps others — I’ll definitely keep coming back to try more and enjoy a coffee next door.

I got the chocolate croissant to go. It was a good chocolate croissant but didn't taste a step above what you get at a lot of other bakery shops making a chocolate croissant. Maybe more butter would make it more flaky and amped up the flavour profile.
Duane B — Google review
This is just review of their pain au chocolate… which is disappointing, especially for $6-7. Barely there chocolate bar / inside (unlike the one that I had in another bakery) and I bought this yesterday and had it this morning, it already felt like eating a stale bread. Not much butter, not crunchy… just meh. Ive eaten a 2-3 day chocolate croissant before that has been squished inside my bag and that one still tasted better than this. I also bought some chocolate cookies from this place before and they were very disappointing chocolate cookies. Should have learn my lesson. Never again.

Best tasting sausage roll in the world! (at least as far as I have tasted). I was offered chutney to go with it but refused because of my dietary restrictions; so glad I did because the flavour of the sausage roll was so awesome it didn't need any sauce (which may have detracted from the taste anyway),

Great sourdough bread. Been around for many years and always consistent product. I only buy the wholewheat bread and casalinga loaf which are delicious. The casalinga makes excellent french toast as it soaks up all the egg and becomes super lush.

It was raining heavily today and I was drawn into this bakery while passing by. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and introduced the breads to us. The bread was also delicious! Highly recommend this bakery:)

The mushroom brioche was amazing. I like mushrooms but only as a side flavour like topping on a pizza but for it to be one of the main ingredients I was hesitant but pleasantly surprised with how well it shone and came together in this brioche. The almond croissant was probably the best I have had to date. Most I have had tended tough or dry but not this. Even the ends of it was soft and delightful. The prosciutto role tho was a let down. The bread was just too tough and it’s was just plain in terms of flavour… maybe this is how is supposed to be ?

Mietta by Rosemary is a new bakery in Melbourne, founded by the renowned pastry chef Rosemary Andrews. The store offers an array of premium baked goods, with a focus on cakes by the slice and takeaway coffee. The handcrafted treats are prepared by Rosemary and her team of experienced pastry chefs. Customers rave about the delectable offerings, such as the honey cake with a hint of coffee, chocolate cake, chocolate tart, cookie, lemon tart, and strawberry sponge.
I rarely give 5 stars for service, but the lady was very patient in explaining every cake variety to us, and even recommended which one to get. I got the cream cheese chocolate cake. I came here for this, and I wasn’t disappointed. The cake was rich, but not too much. It was moist, creamy and decadent. The whole cake also tasted very smooth. 8/10 I bought the carrot cake because I heard it was the best seller. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Mind you, I love carrot cake, but not when it has walnuts. I decided to give this a try anyways and when I took my first bite, I was immediately greeted with the taste of oranges. Then the crispness of the toasted walnuts, and the creaminess of the cream cheese. I personally think the orange really brings carrot cake to another level, and I will be craving this. I love how creative they got with their flavours 10/10 I also got their hazelnut milk chocolate cookie. I didn’t really have any expectations for this cookie. All I can say is this cookie tastes very, badass? Weird word to describe it but they incorporated smokey hazelnuts I think. Every single bite has a smokey taste, and then mixed with the creaminess of the hazelnut paste and a hint of saltiness from the sea salt. Definitely worth a try 9/10

Cabinet selection is great, unfortunately no prices displayed so a guessing game. Thoughts would be on pricer side anyway. Got the foccacia, carrot cake and cheesecake. All were really delicious and well made, portion for the cost questionable but everything in the rise today. The truffle is literally its own separate add on fee. Decent foccacia personally I like mine more crisp on the outside. As for carrot cake sure the layers are very impressive, but it just is a well done carrot cake. Cheesecake is very soft and creamy in the centre if you like that. All in all all pieces picked were good but not mind blowing enough for me to come again.

Visited on 20-Sep-2025 This place serves very nice and unique cakes. The texture of honey cake was very nice, however the number of layers was significantly lower than standard for this cake type. The hazelnut cake was also very nice and super good quality. Coffee was much lower than average. Which is kind of routine for pastry shops unfortunately. Came to Mietta after seeing someone say it’s Michelin 3-star level! They sometimes offer samples of popular items or new arrivals. The carrot cake is everyone’s top pick, but I personally love the strawberry cake!

It is a 5+ star pastry in my opinion. I got Honey-misu and I was expecting very sweet cake but man it is just the right sweetness for me. I’ll go back weekly to try out other pieces. Highly highly recommended!

I’ve been going to Mietta Cakes since it opened, and it never misses. The cakes are always insanely well-balanced. The Mietta Misu 1.0 literally altered my brain chemistry (in the best way) - they need to keep it on the permanent menu!

Small spot, only about 3–4 seats inside. Tried the chocolate cake — rich, dense, and definitely worth the price! Would be helpful if items had clear names and price tags displayed.

Five stars isn’t enough! I stumbled into this cake shop and ordered the focaccia and lemon tart—hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life. The focaccia was perfectly salty and crisp on the outside, soft and flavourful inside, and the lemon tart? Bright, balanced, and unbelievably good. Every bite felt like it was made with love and skill. I genuinely can't stop thinking about it. This place is an absolute gem—do yourself a favour and go! PS. how do I get my hands on the focaccia recipe??

Located in Melbourne, Holy Sugar is a dessert shop that emerged during the city's COVID lockdowns. The patissier, Audrey Allard, gained popularity for her delectable dessert boxes. The shop has garnered a cult following for its rustic yet refined heavenly treats. Visitors can expect a cozy and nostalgic ambiance with shabby-chic tables and vintage crockery.
I've always been meaning to come and try this place having heard all the rave reviews. I was not disappointed. All the items looked so good. We got crullers, basque cheesecake and the passion fruit meringue. All the flavours were excellent without being too sweet. Yes for some, they might've thought it's slightly on the pricier side but I certainly think it's worth it. I will be back to try some of the other goodies. ☺️

On the buzzing high st in northcote, with beautiful decor that feels so aesthetically pleasing.. holy sugar is such a treat! Loved the window full of enticing goodies, the tiramisu was by far our favourite 🤎 and the Swiss roll a close second 🤌🏽. Everything feels so considered, and to have a bakery with plenty indoor and outdoor seatings and a hot bevvie to drink it down.. worth the price and drive imo! We saw others taking home cakes, and can’t wait to put in an order for our next special occasion 💛

Really good!!!! Worth the price point and hype The tiramisu was amazing as well as the chocolate eclairs. Price is a little high (spent $21.50 on tiramisu and an eclair) so be aware, but for the food quality it's understanding! The shop itself is super cute but customer service could be a bit better, felt a bit awkward. Would recommend!

I just purchase the smallest Tiramisu for $16! Will be good to let your customer know how much they are getting from the tray.

🍩🥧🤪 boosting my serotonin levels this weekend 🌼 cinnamon cruller 🌰 choc hazelnut crepe cake 🍫 choc hazelnut tart 🏠: @holysugar__ 📍: Northcote 📝: Finally checked off Holy Sugar from my must-visit list! Every Friday to Sunday, their glass cabinet becomes a showcase of drool-worthy sweets 🍰 Stepping inside, you're greeted with a farmhouse nostalgia vibe: shabby-chic tables, mismatched vintage crockery that feels straight out of a storybook. ❤️: Couldn't resist diving into the famous Cinnamon Cruller—shaped just like a dainty flower and oh-so-delicious! 🌼 To further satisfy my sweet tooth, I treated myself to the weekly special: 🌰 Choc Hazel Crepe Cake, and also grabbed a slice of the 🍫🥧 Choc Hazelnut Tart. Every choice was a taste sensation, and trust me, you'll want to try them all!

Very cute lil spot in High St. The best cheese cake that I’ve ever had, matched with a delicious coffee served in a grandma coffee cup. Love it! Tip: if you go close to the closing time, you might get some extra treats home.

Read an article that former Lume chef has opened this place and had to check it out. We ordered the cinnamon cruller (fancy donut!) which was nice, passionfruit tart amazing, cookie with dulche le che filling is an absolute must have and hazelnut tiramisu was nice (but I make that better). Would go back for the cookie for sure ! Basque cheesecake was amazing!!

My partner and I had been so excited to visit for ages. We were not disappointed! We had a couple of cappuccinos with a cheesecake and both crullers - they were amazing. Melt in your mouth delicious, perfectly complimented with their coffee (which was probably one the best coffees we've had recently). Staff were super friendly and accommodating, and we bought more desserts afterwards to take home with us 😄

If you're on the hunt for a cake that truly makes a statement, look no further than Mali Bakes. This charming establishment in Thornbury is run by the talented pastry chef Patchanida Chimkire, who crafts bespoke celebration cakes bursting with vibrant colors and delightful flavors designed to evoke nostalgic childhood memories.
We got our wedding cake from Mali Bakes and I cannot recommend them enough! Patti was SO so lovely to deal with, so incredibly helpful and happy to change our colour scheme when I redid our wedding colours! Our cake was EXACTLY what we wanted, and I swear I could eat it every day forever. It was one of the most talked about things at our wedding and I can’t even count how many people told me how delicious it was. Highly HIGHLY recommend x

I’ve been to Mali Bakes many times and the service and vibes is always immaculate. So when it came time to pick a wedding cake vendor, they were at the top of the list. Patti and the team were incredible and we still have people telling us how much they loved our wedding cake. Cannot recommend them enough.

Ordered a 8” 3 layer cake, pistachio and rhubarb for a friend’s birthday. Honestly, can’t rate Mali Bakes high enough. The cake was visually perfect. The flavour, amazing and best of all, the texture was flawless! Props to the team, very happy customer.

We got a cake from Mali Bakes for our wedding and it was so so amazing! We went to both of their locations to try all the different flavours and it was so difficult to choose between them because we loved them all so much. Patti and all of the staff that we talked to were so helpful, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. It ended up more than perfect and was so tasty. We love the frogs so much! For reference, the cake from my photos is: Piping Style: Darling Day Base colour: Light Sage Main accent colour: Dark Sage Second accent colour: Raspberries, Light Pink Accessories: Pearls & Frogs Cake: Sour cream chocolate cake, espresso soak with layer of baked peanut butter cheesecake, pretzel crumble, & toasted white chocolate buttercream.

We have had the pleasure of ordering twice from Mali Bakes. Their cakes are hands down best in town. From the buttercream icing which is perfectly balanced in sweet salty, to the moist cake with just the right density, these cakes do not disappoint. We recently had the retro garden vanilla bean cake for my husband’s birthday and the cake was enjoyed by 18 people. The aesthetic of the cake is flawless and certainly brings a wow factor to celebrations. I found the order process really simple to navigate through their online system and the cake looked identical to the one advertised. Their cakes by the slice on Saturdays allow you to enjoy a little treat in between special occasions. We throughly enjoyed the chocolate cake and apple crumble cake by the slice.

We ordered our wedding cake from Mali Bakes and ABSOLUTELY loved it. Patti was responsive and easy to work with. She also made a stunner of a cake with the florals that fit perfectly with our aesthetic. Most of all, the cake was delicious and our guests couldn’t stop raving about it! Our overseas guests have even requested that I order them a Mali Bakes’ cake next time they’re here!

Brunetti Oro Flinders Lane is a delightful Italian café that has carved out a niche in Melbourne's vibrant food scene. This modern space offers an impressive selection of housemade pasta, pizzas, and an array of delectable sweets that are sure to satisfy any craving. The café features a stunning gelati bar and beautifully designed cabinets filled with mouthwatering pastries, including frittole doughnuts and custard-filled panzerotto.
What a fantastic spot to satisfy your sweet tooth! We dined in at Brunetti Oro on Flinders Lane and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The selection of cakes and chocolates is incredible, everything looks as good as it tastes. The highlight for us was the Dubai chocolate ice cream, which was absolutely delicious and a definite must try. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, making it perfect for a casual catch-up, date, or even just a quick coffee and dessert stop. If you love high quality sweets and desserts, this place is a must visit in Melbourne.

Great place! The coffee shop won me over with its aromatic freshly brewed coffee and delicious cakes – a real paradise for those with a sweet tooth. The atmosphere is cozy, the rooms are just perfect for relaxing and socializing. A great place to spend time and enjoy quality in everything. I will definitely come back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5/5) Visited Brunetti Oro, Flinders Lane with a friend this weekend and had such a lovely time! ☕🍰 The café itself has an amazing vibe—modern yet cozy, with a touch of elegance that makes it perfect for catching up or enjoying a relaxed meal. One thing to note is that the menu didn’t have any chicken items 🍗🚫, which was a bit surprising as it mostly featured pork, beef, and seafood options 🐖🐟🥩. However, there were plenty of items on display at the counter, so we chose from those instead. We ordered a Piadina and a Panini 🥪✨—both were absolutely delicious! Freshly made, warm, and packed with flavor. For dessert, we couldn’t resist trying the Nutella Cheesecake 🍫🍰 and the Cannoli Tiramisu ☕🍮. The cheesecake was rich and indulgent, but the real standout for me was the Cannoli Tiramisu—I absolutely loved it! 💕 Easily a must-try for anyone visiting. The staff were fantastic 🙌—so helpful, patient, and genuinely welcoming. They made the experience smooth and enjoyable despite how busy it was. A weekend surcharge 💸 was applied, which is common in Melbourne but worth noting. Overall, Brunetti Oro delivered on flavor, service, and vibes 🌟. A great spot if you’re after quality Italian-style bites and decadent desserts in the city. Would definitely recommend visiting with friends or even for a solo coffee treat. I’ll be coming back for that tiramisu again soon! 😍☕🍮

I absolutely love Brunetti Oro on Flinders Lane! ✨ It’s a beautiful space and the atmosphere is cozy. They have an amazing range of cakes, pizzas, food and drinks . It’s so hard to choose because everything looks delicious 😍. This time I only had a cappuccino ☕ and a rum cake 🍰, and they were both perfect. The coffee was smooth and rich, and the cake was so tasty . Next time I can’t wait to try more from their menu. I might even bring my laptop 💻, enjoy a coffee and cake while getting some work done , just the right the vibe for that too. Highly recommend this place 100% for any occasion , whether it’s catching up with friends, a date, or just some solo time. 💯👏

A perfect spot for Italian desserts! The Bomba Nutella full of flavor, and the coffee was excellent. The cozy, classic Italian vibe makes it ideal for a quick espresso or a relaxed catch-up. A must-visit in Melbourne for anyone who loves authentic sweets.

Brunetti Pro has such an amazing selection — cakes, pastries, coffee, gelato, you name it. Everything looks and tastes so good, it’s hard to choose just one thing. The vibe is lively and fun, and it’s a great spot to hang out or grab something sweet after a meal. Definitely one of my favourite dessert spots in Melbourne!

Had a aglio olio but surprised its not in the usual olive oil but some sort of sources, and the spaghetti tasted more like chinese noodles rather than pasta. Not used to it. While the quinoa salad serving is good, but it doesn't have much taste or flavor. The location is rather crowded, and service was good thought.

Dropped in to get a birthday cake, was better than average, not too sweet, even after being in the fridge for hours, it cut like it was frozen, but the next day was much softer, was as if the glaze offered that protection. Was one of the few cake shops still open late and didn't close at 4pm and had lots of options. Price guide (as of Oct 2025): 6 inch cake $48.90 Happy birthday chocolate deco $5 Total charge on. Card $54.55

Ned's Bake & Bistro South Yarra, founded by former aircraft engineer Ned Radojcic, is a haven for bread enthusiasts. The cafe proudly displays its homemade artisan loaves, including heritage sourdough Chef's Loaves and light rye bread. Their croissants are equally delightful, with options like the unique Vegemite Croissant. The friendly staff and comforting atmosphere add to the experience.
The Eggs Benedict were tasty and well-prepared. The chili scramble was a bit too spicy for me, but it would be great if you like heat. The croissant was fresh and flaky, and the latte was smooth. Overall, a good place for breakfast

Came here for dinner on a weekday. The food was really amazing and delicious! The entrees we got were all based on some kind of bakery items and they were very well done. The cavatelli pasta and lobster croissant were my personal favourites. The only slightly disappointing thing we experienced was that it took a while for the food to come out. This was on what looked like a pretty quiet weekday too. Not sure if that was a one off or a common occurrence. Regardless, the food was good enough that I would still recommend this restaurant. Just don't accidentally end up in the Armadale location like one of the people in our group did.
William C — Google review
Great coffee and brunch spot. Food quality is great however their bakery goods are sort of hit and miss. We had the strawberry danish which was pretty food and the pain au chocolat which felt either it was almost on the verge of stale or just overbaked. We also had the eggs benedict which I throughly enjoyed. My partner had the avocado smash where the sourdough toast was borderline burnt considering it was a hard sourdough the burnt toast meant it was harder even to cut through. I have eaten here a few times but would recommend to try all their offerings in terms of food .
Sadman H — Google review
I am extremely dissatisfied with my recent experience at Ned's, where I found a piece of cardboard in my artisan bread. Their management of this food safety issue has been inadequate. Furthermore, this incident, coupled with a previous experience of burnt coffee, has led me to choose not to return. It's disheartening to see the significant decline in service levels since the new management takeover from the Valarc Group, as it once was a beloved destination for coffee and bread. 😞 #foodsafety That’s quite an unfair comment to say I have ‘other intentions’. You offered me $30 store credit to come back when I have lost totally trust. It’s actually quite insulting. I wonder how you would feel if you were treated and felt that I did after leaving with a customer service experience like I did.

European style bistro open for brunch all the way to dinner and very popular with the locals especially on the weekends. This is also a bakery that sells various European style breads. We came for a Wednesday dinner around 630pm and there was no wait. The baked Paccheri which is like these large tube-shaped pasta was excellent, so was the calamari that was seasoned and fried nicely. The steak Frite however was disappointing, the meat was tough and the butter that ties the sauce with the overall dish had not much taste. Food - 6 Service - 9 Vibe - 8 Price - $$

Wandered in for a Saturday lunch. Food was brilliant with excellent gluten free options. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

From the moment you walk through the door the friendly and attentive staff are there to greet you, even at its busiest. I love when you sit down your coffee order is requested straight away. The pastries and bread are all beautiful and fresh. There is so much selection! My personal favourite is a heated croissant with butter and jam - simple and delicious. I went here frequently when staying in South Yarra for a month, having just moved from Scotland, it was a consistently amazing, warm and welcoming go to during the transition. All round great place with great people.

We are frequent visitors for past few years, mainly for breakfast & coffee and we've never experienced anything but great service, amazing food and coffee. Beautiful settings, with an "Old world" urban interior in most positive sense....a bit of Guernica hanging down and perfectly made bread & pastries reminding us that this is our local European place we are craving to go as often as we can. Last Wednesday, we went for Steak frites night first time and it was very good. Nicely prepared steak, well presented with Montpellier butter, fries and glass of red....sangiovese , quite nice & aromatic....what else would you desire on a Wednesday afternoon to break the week and recharge for the rest of it... Highly recommended!! If you haven't been, do it ASAP! Jana& Boris

Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake is a delightful culinary gem that has captured the hearts of dessert lovers around the world. Founded by Tetsuki Mizokami, who honed his skills in his family's sweet shop from a young age, this brand has expanded its reach across Asia and now delights Australian locals and expats alike. The store offers a few simple yet exquisite variations of their signature cheesecake, which is known for its melt-in-your-mouth softness and fluffy texture.
Amazing stuff. Has these for the first time in Sydney and it's sad that Melbourne doesn't have more locations. The cheesecakes are light fluffy and creaming. Just amazing. The Madeline have the most wonderful honey scent, perfect with a cup of black tea. I also got myself a mango cream crepe, messy to eat so I would recommend sit down and eat it in a bowl with a fork. But it's amazing. None of the desserts are too sweet, just the perfect amount, which is the best compliment for Asian sweets. Definitely give it a try if you are interested in Japanese style sweet. I came at 11:50am and was the first person in line for 12pm opening, worth it seeing the care being put into the making process.

If you're into Japanese cheesecake style Ji recommend trying out Uncle Tetsus Japanese cheesecake. The portions are very generous size, so I'd have loved if they sold slices so I could try their different flavours. I end up getting a crepe cheesecake with three flavours: chocolate+mixed berries, mango and Earl Grey (seasonal flavour). The crepes were actually delicious. But because I also wanted to try out their cheesecake I got the original. It's not very sweet and I quite enjoyed it, specifically with a coffee. Their price range is not very cheap I paid around $44 all up.

Observed a senior staff member showing visible impatience toward a trainee. Food and tools were handled roughly, with gloves touching both food and equipment. At one point, a blowtorch tip went into the cream, then was rinsed under water before reuse. Workflow appeared disorganized and hygiene practices were questionable.
Jiuzhi H — Google review
Loved their cheesecake, it’s soft, not too airy or dense, and doesn’t have that eggy taste some cheesecakes do. I also tried their crème brûlée crepe, which was creamy and packed with strawberry filling and two slices of cheesecake inside. Definitely worth trying at least once!
Zahrah A — Google review
Got crepe brulees ($15.50) with a friend and it was delicious ! The top was freshly blow-torched so the custard below was warm and lovely. The cheesecake piece in the filling was also great as it was fluffy and moist. The crepe itself was so soft,,, overall it combined indulgent sweet tooth satisfaction with a light airiness that made it a great sweet treat to enjoy without being too cloying :D only downside is that it's quite expensive for its size.

We have been going to Uncle Tetsu Japanese cheesecake since 2014, and its amazing taste has been consistent on different continents. Very fast turnaround, friendly staff, and astonishing cheesecakes. Words definitely cannot do justice to describe the amazing taste profile and quality of this cheesecake. I highly recommend it to everyone

Had the limited edition earl Gray and honey cheesecake. It was smaller than the original, but for the same price. Not sure why. The taste was nothing extravagant. Obvious taste of honey and earl Gray, but not enticing enough to re-purchase. The cheesecake was very dry, much more than the original. Very hard to enjoy.

I went to Ichigo on a Thursday afternoon. It wasn’t so busy. Also there are different menus for lunch and dinner. I had the eel egg roll rice it was delicious! The portions are alright but it is quite pricey for a meal. My friends also really enjoyed the matcha ($8) since it was quite sweet and not bitter. I really liked like strawberry cake since it wasn’t too sweet and it was very moist.
Linh N — Google review
Beautiful presentation. Definitely a little expensive but so are most aesthetic cute cafes. The coconut matcha could be a little bit more sweeter and it would’ve been amazing. I got the Ichi-Rashi (gfo) and it was DELICIOUS. Honestly I was expecting it to be really bland, just rice with sashimi and soy sauce. But the rice was delicious even by itself. I heavily recommend, if you can afford $35 for it. I also got the miso soup but the miso was very weak. Had a lot of radish instead with a few mushrooms but I probably wouldn’t get it again. My friend got the smoked salmon matcha crumpet. It was pretty nice as well, though not as good as mine.
Ida N — Google review
The atmosphere is nice for studying as there is a lot of seating space! Only thing is that the cafe is really really cold(especially during winter), so after a short while my hands froze up and I couldn’t type quickly on my laptop. Also there is no wifi at the cafe, so if you plan on studying while at the cafe, you may need to rely on your own hotspot. Ichigo is slightly on the more expensive side, but they offer a lot of really unique menu items that can’t be found at a regular cafe. Kinako soy latte was sweet and delicious, definitely worth trying if you like the taste of things like warm soy milk. Original basque cheesecake 9/10 Houjicha Einspänner 5/10 Yuzu brulee cold brew 7/10 (I’m not a super big fan of coffee in general but this drink was one of the better coffee beverages I’ve tried!) Matcha pistachio jasmine cake 10/10–you can’t really taste any pistachio, however I fell in love with the taste of the jasmine cream. Soft cake layers and overall perfection. Would go back just to eat that cake!!! Ichigō shortcake 7/10–soft cake layers and perfect amount of sweetness. Would recommend if you love strawberry shortcake! I would recommend Ichigo add some Wifi for customers to use and also some heating for cold winter days

Been my go to japanese bento place for quite some time and can't fault the flavours. Do try the pork sando as it's amazing. The big pork and soft crispy but fluffy bread is delicious. The bento they have changed from karrage to nanban which isn't the same.

Food was great, very aesthetic, well-presented and tasted pretty good too. The strawberry shortcake was our favourite, not too sweet! 😋 However, we found it a little pricey for what we had, definitely have had better at a more affordable price. The proportions were quite small too. Don't mind coming back for more of that cake though!

The most delicious brunch I have ever had. So delicately put together, all the ingredients complemented each other from the scotch egg to the , roti nest sitting on a cauliflower and leek purée. I am astounded, I would have this over and over again if I could. The staff and their service is also amazing. Such a hidden gem of a cafe (also restaurant in the evenings) and located within close proximity to the QVM, highly recommended. Commandments to the chef 🤩

Ruwi's Cakes is a passion project that stemmed from the owner's love for baking, nurtured since her high school days. Ruwindi Serasinghe, the founder, turned to baking unique cakes after a career-ending injury and has honed her skills over eight years. The shop offers customized cakes to bring your creative ideas to life. Customers have praised their delicious gluten-free options and seamless ordering process, although there have been some discrepancies in the delivered cake compared to the website photos.
We ordered a vegan cake with less than a weeks notice and had it delivered straight to us! The cake was absolutely stunning and tasted divine as well. I am super impressed and highly recommend to anyone! They also had great communication throughout! Thank you Ruwi’s cakes!!!! ❤️

Overall the ordering, confirmation and delivery were seemless and I had no issue with the service. The cake itself was delicious, but the only disappointment was that I bought the cake based on the website photo, which had roses and peony roses. On the cake delivered there was one small rose and carnations, which were a little underwhelming.

Delicious vegan cake, it was too pretty to eat! The delivery was right on time and smooth. Thank you for making my daughter’s 100 days old celebration a special one!
Jackie H — Google review
I’ve seen a couple of reviews that express how “dry” “crumbly” “stale” and inedible their cake is. I sadly have to agree. Seeing that these comments were from a couple months ago, I’m surprised Ruwi’s cakes haven’t improved because we experienced the same disappointment with ours. The cake is beautiful but it felt as though we just used it as decoration for the party, because I honestly can’t force myself to eat it at all. I just don’t understand how you can sell these, not worth the money

Ruwi’s Cakes was easy and delightful to communicate with. They were able to create for us a beautiful cake delivered to our wedding reception on our special day. Thank you so much for contributing in making our wedding that much more memorable!

$$$$affordable
Japanese restaurant
SAINT DREUX, located on Collins Street in Melbourne, is a trendy spot that offers Japanese sandos with a variety of fillings such as Panko-crumbed pork, chicken, prawn, and beef cutlets. The highlight is the Wagyu option with a marbling score of 7 to 8 served medium-rare. Visitors praise the fluffy shokupan bread and tender, non-greasy meat fillings.
At an insane $29 price tag, I needed to know if the wagyu sando would live up to the price tag. It was really delicious and soft! I’m not a steak eater really, but this was the softest beef I’ve ever had. The seasoning was also simple but delicious, and the sando was hot and fresh. Would definitely eat again because it was a really great meal! But definitely is overpriced at $29.
Takeshi K — Google review
For $29 sandwich they used the really cheap cut of Wagyu, which I would be happy to get a regular better cut steak instead. It ended up having a lot of silver skins which wasn't pleasant to eat. Outside the steak was overcooked, inside was undercooked, there's no transition. Overall it was a bit letdown, we had high hopes from reading the review but maybe we got a bad one.
Caitlynn Z — Google review
Decent matcha, a bit on the small side, the sesame cake wasn’t anything special and I prob wouldn’t order it again. It was just not that soft or fluffy and the icing was kinda meh and sticks to ur teeth. The matcha was okay but needs to be a bigger size for what it was priced at . Believe it was $8 for a super small cup
Shibe L — Google review
Only ordered drinks from here, so can’t comment on the food, which are basically sando and cakes. Ordered the hot chocolate and it was very chocolatey, and not very warm. Surprisingly, their iced Hojicha latte was already pre-mixed with full cream milk so you can’t have it with oat milk. It’s the same for all their iced drinks. Limited seating available in the cafe, but luckily there are other seatings available near Machi Machi.
M C — Google review
Tried the chicken katsu Sando sandwich. The sauce is really good, the chicken very juicy. Definitely tasty but expensive. Better as a snack than a full meal but was good to try.
MatthewL — Google review
Iced matcha is premixed so no option to change milk. I feel like I didn’t get good value for an $8.50 drink. They also don’t have straws which I guess is good for the environment but server did not even tell me about it and just left the drink in front of me. I could have gotten better value in other cafes plus nicer people.
Dada R — Google review
Very expensive sandwiches but worth the try for a once off so I really enjoyed it here. The service here was also really good, they accommodated and recommended some options even tho I ordered everything and was a great try. Didn’t get to try the Wagyu sandwich but will be back to try that eventually. Very simple but good.
Christopher W — Google review
Could have fooled me with the exterior, the wagyu beef is overcooked and has a stale beefy taste to it, the prawn was a little better but still under seasoned itself

Raya Melbourne, located on Little Collins Street, is a bakery known for its South East Asian-influenced cakes and savories. Run by baker Raymond Tan, who hails from Malaysia, the bakery offers unique treats such as spinach and olive oil sponge and giant cookies flavored with miso, sour cherry, and dark chocolate. Customers can also pre-order whole cakes from this establishment.
Authentic and delicious. Stopped by for lunch and ordered a number of the sandwiches including the egg salad, chicken salad and egg and mushroom. All dishes were great, the egg salad was a tad too sweet to my liking but understandable what you would expect from a Japanese preference. Overall selection so great. Seating is limited and get very busy at lunch.

We originally planned to go to Hector’s for sandwiches, but to our surprise, this store was still open after we finished our heavy lunch. I know Melbourne is famous for its matcha, but honestly, this is the best matcha I’ve ever had in the city — and I’ve tried plenty of matcha cafés around! You MUST try their matcha cookie , it’s sweet, but pairs perfectly with coffee. Simply amazing! We were served by Ray, thanks for his fun and friendly energy, make my day shines !
Vincent W — Google review
I got a malt matcha and it was divine. So good and such a unique flavour idea. I haven’t seen it anywhere else and it worked exceptionally well. The pandan cake I got was good but not mind blowing. Staff were very friendly and the location is super convenient. I’d grab a sandwhich from hectors next door but pop in here for the matcha and skip hectors coffee as this was way better.
Taylou — Google review
I just loved the vibes here. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. I saw this spot when I was visiting Hector’s Deli upon my last visit to Melbourne and was always curious to try their sandwiches. Today I was finally able to! So glad I finally got to try it out. I saw another customer having a kaya toast set(?) which looked amazing! Maybe I’ll have to try that next time I’m visiting Melbourne. Aside from sandwiches, they also have amazing looking desserts, cookies & matcha drinks.

Such a cute little cafe tucked away in east end. 🥪🍰Kaya toast cake 💜🍰Ube cake 🌷🍵 Pink matcha latte 🍵 Matcha ☕️Hojicha I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time and it did not disappoint. It had good matcha and hojicha with interesting combination of sweets. 🥪🍰Kaya toast cake I was very impressed. New combination yet the kaya, butter cream, and caramel sauce worked so well together. However it is very big and $12.5 so definitely should be shared. The buttercream was a bit clumpy, maybe because it was in the fridge for long. 💜🍰Ube Black Forest cake So so soft and fluffy. Tastes like ube with a bit of cherry jam in the middle. Not sour, sweet but not too sweet. I 🍵☕️Matcha, Hojicha we ordered hot, they were both strong and flavourful. 🌷🍵 Pink matcha This one on the other hand I wasn’t impressed, as I couldn’t really enjoy the matcha and the strawberry flavour. The combination didn’t work for me. Excited to try out new items next time.
Yunjeong K — Google review
I have tried Chicken sandwich twice and it was delicious & fresh each time. Also mung bean ang ku kueh was very tasty and delish. Staffs were very kind too.
Shirin A — Google review
Came here to do some work and grab a pick me up snack. Got the hojicha latte and peanut butter choc chip cookie. Felt it was a bit pricey to get a cake slice as well. The cookie was yummy, i liked the peanut crunches. The latte was standard. The store had a creative fair. The service was standard. I had wish they had provided a napkin with the cookie.
Kim V — Google review
First came across them looking for birthday cakes in Melbourne. Interesting options! Very unique combinations with popular Asian dessert flavours. Cabinet food is also very special, cute cake options that look delectable. Flavour combos however will not be for everyone and your stomach might not agree with what the eyes see. Tried their sesame match cake - interesting savoury tasting cake leaving a bit of umami on the tastebuds that I didn’t quite expect. I personally love trying odd combos so was open to the flavour mash.

Each wedding cake is uniquely designed to reflect the couple's personal style and wedding theme. Madie turned my dream wedding cake into a reality! I shared a unique design with her, and she brought it to life flawlessly. Her attention to detail was incredible, and she made the entire booking process so easy with her clear communication. We were so in awe of her artistry that we asked the venue to keep the cake on display until dessert.. it was simply too stunning to cut into right away! And as beautiful as it looked, the taste was even better. The chocolate with pistachio cream and dried raspberry was an unforgettable combination that had everyone raving. Madie is truly exceptional at what she does! Thank you!
Isabella K — Google review
We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and delicious wedding cake! With 200 guests, Madie made the entire process so easy — from sending us a tasting box to helping us choose three different flavours for each tier. She worked seamlessly with our florist to bring my vision to life, and the final result was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend Madie for anyone looking to order cakes for weddings or any special event!
Peony M — Google review
I ordered a tiramisu flavoured gluten free Tall, Dark & Handsome cake for my husband's birthday, and it was perfect. It was so delicious, not too sweet and didn't crumble like many gluten free cakes tend to do. I opted to pick up rather than have it delivered, and the entire process from ordering to pick up was seamless. Would definitely order from here again. Thank you! 🎂😋

Wow! Madie and the team at Mad About Cakes are spectacular to deal with. I picked up 72 cupcakes for my 30th birthday party in 3 different flavours and they were all absolutely divine!!!! I picked them up the day before my party and they maintained their freshness for the event. Everyone absolutely raved about them!!!

Mad About Cakes created a stunning cake for our celebration, perfectly capturing the Enchanted Fairy Pink Jungle Safari theme. The jam donut flavour was just as delightful as the design ,truly the perfect centrepiece for the day.

We were looking for a gluten free cake that didn’t taste gluten free and Madie absolutely nailed it! Not only did it taste so good that people didn’t know it was gluten free, but it also looked gorgeous. Madie was able to nail the brief and give us exactly what we wanted.

Finding beautiful, delicious and reasonably priced GF things is so hard but these GF choc unicorn cupcakes I ordered from Mad About Cakes... absolutely 10/10 - everyone at my 30th said they looked and tasted amazing. Madie was also lovely and easy to communicate with. cant wait to order again!

Mad about cakes made out daughters 2nd bday cake and they did such an excellent job. They exceeded our expectations. We had a vision of a Barbie cake and a photo from Pinterest and she made the exact cake! Absolutely Perfect! We had one short consultation at their shop and they were so lovely and just gave us exactly what we asked for. We appreciate that sooo much. Just being able to explain what we wanted and have it made exactly as we imagined it. Thank you so much! The flavour of the cake was delicious too, we had some great feedback from our guests. Absolutely CANNOT GIVE ENOUGH STARS to Kat’s Cakes!!!! We first noticed her business when we went to an event that she was at showcasing her work. I was already absolutely amazed by her pure quality and expertise just looking at them so I knew I had to book in with her quick. Well we were thrilled when she said she had put date available. We spoke via email and she ALWAYS responded in a timely manner and when we sent her our inspo pic we didn’t know if she would pull it off with all the intricate details on it but she not only make it she well and truely shocked us with the absolutely stunning details! I’ll put the pic of our inspo cake and then the cake we were utterly surprised with when we got to our Wedding Ceremony! It was well and truely the talk of the town that night! Can’t thank Kay’s Cakes enough!!!

We were absolutely thrilled with our wedding cake! Not only did it look absolutely stunning, but it also tasted amazing — The team did a fantastic job creating a Dairy free cake without compromising on flavor or presentation, which meant so much to me. I'm still eating all the yummy left overs. Communication throughout the entire process was clear, easy, and reassuring. We felt really looked after from start to finish. We couldn’t be happier with the service and the final result. Highly, highly recommend to any couple looking for a beautiful and delicious wedding cake

Words can't describe how happy we are with the final product. Thank you so much Mary! We give you 11/10 stars. What we received was an incredible cake that was so detailed and looked EXACTLY like the pictures we emailed. The process was seamless and the customer service fantastic. We will definitely be ordering all our cakes from you for all our events and we will be telling as our family and friends about you. Thank you so so much for making us happy ♥️♥️♥️ I ordered again from Mary and her team for my son's 1st birthday 3 weeks ago. Trying to organize a cake for my husband’s 50th was a daunting task as I’ve been burned with other peoples glowing reviews, only to be disappointed. But certainly not with Amarantos! Their cake turned out beautifully with such accurate detail and care. And the service I received from Mary and Jasmin was very kind and accommodating. The flavor and cake quality was spot on. Many of our guests complimented about how great the cake looked and tasted. My husband will be also posting pics to pilot websites as the model was a perfect replica of the Cirrus SR 22. You have one super satisfied customer. :)

What an amazingly talented and lovely lady Mary is! We have all good feedback, firstly the cake was incredible, it was so exciting and was such a talking point at the party, not only did it look great, but the cake inside was also amazing! I would have thought to make something that looks so amazing would compromise on taste, but it certainly didn't and everyone at the party commented on it. From the time I first emailed to the delivery, every member of the team were professional, lovely and efficient. This cake was for someone very special to us (her name is also Mary) and I could tell that Mary recognised that and made every effort to make it perfect, and it was beyond expectations. Mary is very talented and her attention to detail is amazing. Very reasonably priced, actually, really cheap for the work involved. Thank you Mary and the team at Amarantos cakes, I am so glad we found you!

I had an absolutely great experience with AB FAB Cakes. They were able to accommodate my order with only a few days' notice (3 days to be exact) at a very affordable price. The cake was exactly how I wanted it to be. It was an exact copy of the sample photo I provided them. The cake and the fondant itself was DELICIOUS! My partner LOVED it. Also, when I was not able to claim my order the exact day I requested it to be collected, the owner showed a genuinely great concern. I would say, that's great customer service. I have already recommended them to my friends, and will definitely order from them again soon.
