But we went with an Elderflower champagne and lemon semi naked cake. It was the perfect choice! Thanks Gina and Gillian for making the whole process so easy, and for creating the perfect cake for us. We were recommended to Ladybird Cakes for our wedding cake by almost all of our vendors - and its not hard to understand why! Working with them was a breeze from the onset, and Gina/Gillian were very responsive in answering all of our queries. We ordered a taster box to sample all of the flavours before committing, and we were so spoilt for choice as all of the flavours were so delicious! We ended up going with the Chocolate Mud Cake and Champagne and Strawberries for our wedding cake - which was a perfect combination and all of our guests were asking for seconds. Although we had catered for a cake that had more portions than we had guests, we barely had any leftovers! We will definitely recommend Ladybird Cakes if you would like to elevate your event. Gina made us the most beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding at Lyrebird Falls on April 10th 2025, and we consider Ladybird Cakes to be a huge part of what made our day perfect. Not only did she absolutely deliver on the presentation where you can see her attention to detail shine, the cake was moist and yummy without being too sweet. Gillian was an absolute delight to talk with leading up to the big day, and went above and beyond to put our minds at ease by locking in the day before we’d even done a tasting! Alice at Miss Trixie’s was an absolute gem to work with on my wedding cake! She made everything so easy, was so accomodating and took away a lot of stress. Miss Trixie = the Cake Queen! Alice has created cakes for all our special occasions, and makes the BEST gluten-free cakes, so having her make our wedding cake was the easiest decision (we didn't even have to reach out to anyone else!). Alice took a little illustration from our invites and turned it into the real-life version that was absolutely delicious, looked stunning, and she even incorporated my grandparents’ wedding topper, which made it extra special. We even got extra slab cakes so our guests could try lots of flavours. Thank you for making our cake dreams come true!

Oh my! I got the most incredible custom cake. The mission, a retro murderous black love-heart cake with cherries, shimmer, blood and a knife topper with text. Oh. And it had to be delicious and fresh. It was absolutely A MAY ZING. I researched other cute retro cakes, but they couldn’t do the whole brief…including that the cake itself was super fresh with organic eggs, actual butter & no premix. The gorgeous humans at miss trixie answered my incessant question and let me shift flavours around to suit the birthday girl’s palate. Also, they had next to NO NOTICE. I opted to pickup because my deadline was hard and goodness, what lovely people IRL and stunning frontage. Thank you so so so much. I ordered a birthday cake from Miss Trixie and it was absolutely perfect! The cake was not only stunning but also incredibly delicious – moist, rich, and full of flavor. On top of that, they were so easy to deal with – friendly, responsive, and made the whole process stress-free. Highly recommend if you’re after a cake that tastes as good as it looks!

Came here with family for some cake and coffee and it’s really nice to see the old photos showing the history of the store up on the walls. The decorations and design of the interior is very full and cosy, quite lived in and tells of a long history. The flat white was nice, the coffee was flavourful and the cakes were unique and a treat to try. The atmosphere was just okay but the staff were friendly and personable which was a nice experience too.

I stumbled upon this place while taking a walk in St Kilda - I then remembered it was flagged by the Lonely Planet, as one of the best spots for coffee in the hood. Super cool vibe and atmosphere. Great coffee and cakes, including two vegan options. Only con, there’s no toilette.. Otherwise, highly recommended - full of locals, nice music in the background.

The cakes are to die for and coffee tasted good too. However as some other review also pointed out, we did not quite appreciate the attitude of the staff members towards customers. This isn’t against us but we overheard staff bitching about some other customers who decided not to buy their cake and they were rolling their eyes after the customers left and making comments which were borderline racism.

This was a big disappointment. I saw the huge amount of cakes in the window and assumed (wrongly) that they would be delicious and fresh. It appears to be a tourist trap (along with all the other cake shops on Acland St but they'll get their own reviews once I've finished this one). The cakes were old, stale and bore little similarity to the traditional names. The owner and staff were pleasant but unfortunately that alone wasn't enough to cover for the poor tasting cakes. I wish I had read the Google reviews first but you live you learn.

Omg delicious .. visiting the area from Perth. Stopped in for a coffee and I had to try the Monarchs famous kooglhoupe . I was asked if I wanted it heated to yourself a favour do it ! Also note there are a few cake shops in the area trust me don’t walk bye !

We tried a couple of cakes from this bakery, and the poppy cake in particular was quite nice. The service was friendly and the overall experience was good. That said, there’s still room for improvement — everything was decent, but not quite exceptional yet.

One of our new favourite places in Melbourne to enjoy French patisseries. High quality cakes ( full size and minis), slices and beads. There is seating inside to enjoy the food and excellent coffee and other drinks. Best to order wanting to take away.

Really feeling like something sweet and maybe a bit chocolatey so headed to RACV @LePetitGateauMelb for the black forrest: Two layers of chocolate sponge surrounding a vanilla mousse with guinette cherries all enveloped with a dark chocolate mousse, topped with vanilla Chantilly cream pebbles. One fork full and I'm in my happy place. Delicious flavours and textures. There's the soft crack of the thin tempered chocolate surrounding the bottom of the base, the smooth dark chocolate mousse giving a nice brooding flavour, the slightly sour and tart cherries, a slight alcohol kick from the Chantilly cream, the soft light sponge and the creamy vanilla mousse. They require a day's notice for an order of one of their amazing cakes. They charged about $5 for the customised message as well. I’ve been a loyal customer of Le Petit Gateau for years and have always ordered my birthday cakes here. However, today’s experience was deeply disappointing. I was suddenly charged an extra $5 for the chocolate plaque — something that has always been complimentary in all my past orders. There was no notice about this change either online or in-store. When I questioned it and even showed my previous receipts, the staff’s response was dismissive and unprofessional, asking if I wanted to repay the $5 they hadn’t charged me before. The issue isn’t the amount — it’s the lack of transparency and respect for returning customers. Had this been clearly stated, I would have had no issue paying it. Sadly, this experience has made me lose confidence in a place I once trusted and recommended.

Prices are steep but with the quality and location, it’s worth visiting! Hidden from the busy street of Collins, this little café shop offers variety of cakes like no other bakeshop offers. Definitely one of a kind

Was strolling along a random st in Melbourne after a lunch of pho and walked past this patisserie. Dropped in and had a fabulous coffee ☕️ and a brilliant citrus tart made on the premises. Great service and a quiet, spacious ambiance.

We drove a long way to visit this vegan bakery. Great service with good energy vibes from who I assume was the owner. Slightly disappointed that not all the deli options that were listed in their website were available (had 4 sub options but no bagels?). We went for the Meatball Sub and a Chick’n schnitzel Sub. They were very very filling. Could have shared one between us to be honest! Meatball sub for the win! Love how they segregate the bakery items so nut free are on their own shelves. Makes it so much easier. Well done. We bought some desserts for takeaway. Glazed donut, cinnamon donut and Portuguese tarts. Glazed bad boy for the win! Oh and coffees were very good as Happy Happy Soy Boy is one of the best milks for latte.

Love the chocolate babkas!!! Great coffee. Also you can buy vego bars here if you need a chocolate hazelnut fix. The cakes are all awesome too. Great savoury items. Vegan food happiness.

We’ve been going to Mister nice guy’s for years and they never disappoint! They have amazing cakes on their website and can do customisations too! We love their sweet and savoury pastries - everything tastes amazing! The staff are super helpful and friendly too! And the best thing is they are 100% Vegan 😊💚

I ordered a cake online 2 days prior to the event, they ask for 3 days notice. Emailed them if it was possible to be made in 2 days and they delivered and waived the fee. The cake was delicious and not too sweet. Got small neapolitan, 2 layered cake.

Caramel butterscotch pie is to die for 🤤 sweet and delicious! They have amazing selection of pastries, bread and cakes. Cinnamon roll was good, the glaze reminds me of krispy creme donuts

THE BESTESTTTTT BAKERY!! My family and I have been coming to Candied for years and this is my first time writing a review because Alex deserves it!! I had a family emergency and needed two cakes and she was so helpful and kind. To say her customer service was great is an understatement. The most beautiful soul ever , definitely what I needed on a stressful Saturday morning. Other than that , I cannot recommend the red velvet cake enough. I wish i could gatekeep but its too good. It has become a family tradition of ours to have a red velvet cake every birthday .. so please never change the recipe🫶🏻 10/10 Also tried the cinnamon scroll and it was delishh, i do prefer a creamcheese frosting but this was sort of like krispykreme icing sugar glaze. Still yum, light and fluffy and doesnt make you sick🥰8/10

Loved the tres leches cake! Pistachio cream croissant shell was a bit hard but filling was tasty. Disappointed with the red velvet as the icing almost had a rubbery texture and don’t recommend it. Will be back to try the other cakes and pastries though

Long queue the moment it opened, but service is quick. Nice ambience and plenty of dine in space. Pistachio croissant cream is sooo good. Definitely must try! But disappointed with their cinnamon scroll, very sweet and nothing special.

Stumbled upon Candied Bakery and tried the chocolate Biscoff cream croissant, rich, decadent, and perfect if you love dark chocolate. We also tried the pistachio escargot, which was my favourite, lighter but equally delicious. Would’ve loved to try more, but they were understandably sold out on a busy Sunday afternoon.

It is a very busy place (Sunday), but that is the happy vibe you come here for. People enjoying their food, coffee, and chitty chat. There is a wide selection of cakes and some other food too. Service is by ticket machine, take a number, wait a bit before your number is called, then select food and pay. Order coffee, wait some more, and collect it. There are tables inside and outside in the mall.

Brunetti Carlton is always such a vibe! The coffee is spot on and their cakes and pastries are simply irresistible – so many to choose from. Have come here many times, it’s a great place to bring family and friends. Service is always nice with really friendly and welcoming staff. Cakes are very yummy and one of my favourites is the tiramisu. The interior is also very elegant and fancy creating a nice dining experience

Ordered the Signature Tea Set from LuxBite via Uber Eats, and honestly, it was just average. It looked fancy, but the flavors didn’t match up—felt like it was more about presentation than taste. Nothing stood out, and it lacked the richness I was expecting. Probably wouldn’t order again.

Both desserts I tried were so delicious, especially the kuma one. They were both $13.50 each even though the heart one was quite a bit smaller. The interior was very clean and there was lots of seating. Would recommend visiting !

Tried the salted egg croissant. Very tasty and unique. Also ordered a chai latte, it was made with fresh spices however seemed to lack flavour and was rather milky

Waited in line only to find out the pandan croissants were sold out and I was devastated. But the amazing staff were really helpful and I was able to get a fresh batch, they are always incredible! Beautiful pastries and super great staff. Will definitely be back

Pretty good pastries but there was a very long line to get in. The pandan was very popular and took us two tries to get it as it kept getting sold out. While it was good, I wouldn’t get it again as it tasted like a normal croissant that was green. The croissants were fresh and hot and it was good.

Agathe is a popular patisserie in Melbourne with multiple locations. I’ve been a few times and there are always lines on the weekend. I recently got to try the pandan croissant and it really surprised me. The flavour was definitely sweet but didn’t feel heavy. And the pastry itself was just so crispy, flaky and chewy - one of the best croissants I’ve ever had. I particularly liked that it didn’t fall/flake apart when biting into it! It was also moist and seemed freshly made. The other typical flavours like plain and chocolate are good but didn’t stand out like the pandan. Price definitely isn’t cheap at almost $10. Definitely recommend a visit and hope you’re lucky with timing (I was there after lunch).

A 100% must visit shop when visiting the South Melbourne Market. Agathe Patisserie is a handcrafted, authentic French pastry shop located at the South Melbourne Market. With heaps of variety to choose from there is a pastry for everyone weather it be an almond croissant, a pear pastry or countless other options there is something for everyone. Thank you for having us and we will be coming back again.

13/7/25 - 4.5 stars Probably one of the most famous bakery chains in Melbourne and for good reason. I was recommended this place several times and seems like many other ppl were too cos the lines are always long. That being said, service turnover is quite fast. The pastries are freshly made and in pretty big batches, but, even still things were sold out like the flan which was highly recommended. The quality of the croissants were exceptional though so was worth waiting. Croissants Pandan: SS, 9/10. As advertised, delicious but maybe just a bit too sweet Original: SS, 9/10. Just buttery and tasty. Texture: SS+, 9.5/10. As good as any I've ever had Value: S, 7/10. $9 for pandan is a little bit much but $7 for original is good.

OK, what do you get when you cross a croissant with a croque monsieur? No, not a ham and cheese croissant, much much more. Agathe Patisserie bakes this little number well, keeps them warm in a pie warmer for lunch (Royal Arcade store) and takes me straight back to Paris where often a boulanger adds a dollop of bechamel to the leg ham and gruyère before rolling/baking the ultimate lunchtime croissant. Well done Agathe, awesome work mate. Kate Reid your ham and gruyère croissant has a challenger!

Still cannot believe Beatrix is closing permanently in a few days. It is indeed one of the best bakeries in Melbourne. Their cakes are absolutely beautiful. Simple, homey but executed perfectly. Just like the cakes my grandma bakes for me. Their banoffee pie is definitely unbeatable. I’m going to get their cookbook and do a copycat version. Thank you so much for bringing all these lovely goodies to Melbournians.

Moved to North Melbourne so I can be closer to Beatrix 3 years ago. What a great decision now even at lock down I can go there and fix my mood with delicious cakes and pastries. I think its safe to say I have tried almost everything they had. And everything was amazing! Dont remember having any disappointment ever. My go to are red velvet, chocolate sourcream, lemon tart, chiffon, cheesecake, sponge cake, wait am I listing everything they have lol The pastries are so great as well! Had the handpie with bacon and onion for dinner tonight. Such a warm hearty feeling! I also remember the apple frypie that doesnt go out very often but definitely on the top of my top list! Quite literally my favourite cafe in the world. It's fortunate that I don't live close by, as I'd never have any money otherwise. They're famous for their cakes, but their sandwiches are what make it for me - I'm a particular fan of the Oscar and Kermit ciabattas. They rotate their menu daily, and you can check their Instagram in the morning (as I often do) to see what's in.

I can’t believe I’d never tried Beatrix til last week, when a quarantine cake craving saw me driving to North Melbourne. I pre ordered a slice of the famous chocolate sour cream layer cake plus a special brow butter, hazelnut and quince tart ($17 total). The cake was not as sour as I was expecting but pleasantly less sweet than a standard chocolate cake and so moist. I like a rich cake but this one didn’t leave me in desperate need of water like many others do. While the cake was good, the tart was a standout. It was a perfect blend of sweet, buttery biscuit and slightly tart roasted quince and crunchy hazelnuts. I wish it was a regular menu item because I could eat it again and again.

Been coming here before covid hits, before the owner published her book. The cakes are pricey but yes it’s worth every $$$ spent. However, I couldn’t agreed more with the comments about how unfriendly the staff at Beatrix are. The lady with glasses at the till has been so rude (3 visits, I counted). She never smiles or say hi and makes it awkward every time we order with her. The other staff are equally unfriendly but not as grumpy as her. Not sure what’s going on with the staff at this place ?!!!

30/07/2022: It's been a good run, but everything eventually comes to an end. Nat Paull's won the hearts and minds of the local community a few times over, along with everyone who's travelled to this small bake house. The last few days have queues extending beyond two street blocks and cake sold out around the midday mark. If you enter the queue just before 0800, it's approximately 2 and a half hours till you walk away with cake. Quite the investment for your final slice of Red Velvet Layer Cake. Best wishes to Nat and her future accolades. With the most minimal of signage, and equally minimal seating expectations, Beatrix has some of the most tantalising and creative cake slices in Melbourne. I literally wet myself upon the first bite of the Cherry Ripe Shagg! The cake variety is shuffled around daily and it'll take repeat visits to catch 'em all... Keep your eyes peeled for the Chocolate Roulade, Brùléed Caramel Cheesecake and the Notorious BFC. The staff here also should be greatly commended as they are so darn sweet, do such an amazing job and make up Beatrix's friendly warm vibes. My favourite. *****

A place so small with cakes of such big taste! Throughout Saturday afternoon, a steady stream of customers poured in to order their favourite cakes for takeaway. One by one, smiles illuminated faces as people received their boxes holding such anticipation and promise. One bite of the famous red velvet cake explained the popularity. Smooth, moist, balanced in flavour and texture, I slowed down to savour the experience. This deserves a 5/5. I also had a crumbed flathead ciabatta with rocket and house made tartare sauce - delicious. This tiny spot squeezes in two tables and a bench by the window with a handful of tables on the pavement. Friendly staff interacted with a smile. They mixed up the orders a couple of times while I was there, including mine. I will return but next time, I'll queue up for the takeaway boxes like everyone else.

I was happy to visit the Millstone with my wife today. The place is just "the place to go" on a Saturdays morning. The food, the cakes and over all was very nice. The coffee bland is nice but the the making of it can be improved.

My friend recommended this cafe to me years ago, but I hadn't tried it until today, despite passing by many times. Upon entering, a 'wait to be seated' sign was displayed, but there were no staff available to guide customers. I was confused about where to wait to place my order, especially with an open window next to the sign. The staff seemed occupied with various tasks, such as moving food/plates to a van, cleaning tables, and serving food, but there was no one specifically attending to customers. When I placed my order, the cashier didn't inquire about dining in or taking away. I assumed I could enjoy my cake with my coffee, but I was mistaken. Firstly, as I'm not a coffee person, I won't comment on the coffee quality, but the size was small. Secondly, the cake I ordered was meant to be consumed on-site with the coffee. However, when I attempted to eat it, I found it to be rock-hard, indicating that it needed to be brought to room temperature before consumption. 🤷‍♂️ My dissatisfaction stems not from the quality of the cake but from the fact that the staff didn't mention the need to eat it at room temperature. I was eager to enjoy it when I was in the cafe, but I could not. So it’s still in my fridge. 🤷‍♂️ If the staff had informed me during my order, I wouldn't have purchased it. After placing my order, I found a table, but it was dirty, and despite staff walking around, no one was cleaning the table. Additionally, there were no utensils, no drinking water, and no table service available when I was sitting there watering for my drink and food.

I’m so glad a friend recommended this place for us to catch up at on a rainy Friday. We scored a table for two inside, checked in and found it hard to hard as everything looked delicious. My friend had the black porridge which was in the menu. It was delicious, soul warming and a great portion. I ordered a chicken baguette what was behind the counter. It was a great size and so good with my two coffees. We couldn’t resist one of the cakes that we couldn’t stop staring at during lunch. We shared the lemon drizzle cake. It was so good. I took home a slice of the blueberry cheesecake for my kids they loved it!

What a RIP-OFF! $10.50 for a 'Dog's Breakfast' lemon sponge cake. I was shocked when I opened the box at home. I would have returned it if I was still at the shop. Not only the slide is so thin for just a simple lemon sponge cake (I was told, no sign on counter for it), and it was badly handled looked like someone took a bite. That piece of dog's breakfast should not have been sold to begin with.

I would really like to be positive about this place but its impossibile. Firstly, SMILE! All the staff are always so rude or depressed looking. The food is so overpriced and the service is non existent… if you want to charge so much money for food, at least make people feel nice about spending their money here. I also must have missed something about the size of the croissants because now they are kid sizes! Never again, extremely underwhelming.

Great little cafe tucked away in a side street near Malvern Station and Glenferrie Road. Very busy at 12.30 on a Wednesday, but the constant turnover of tables means you won’t have to wait long. Coffee is excellent (I had a second), as was my toasted baguette. The cakes & pastries look amazing, much more interesting than the now all too common gluten, dairy and nut free or vegan offerings in many cafes. I know some people have allergies but am prepared to bet that many more do not. Finally, the attentive manager circulates constantly, checking that patrons are happy.

Surprisingly good GLUTEN FREE and DAIRY FREE Sourdough Bread!! Got it freshly baked and it was soft on the inside and got a perfect crust! I love it toasted and it is perfect for homemade soups or breakfast entrees! They serve coffee by ONA roastery! I got the 8oz flat white. Creamy and velvety flavour! The cafe has only limited counter style seating and quite small but great specialty breads!

Tiny little cafe selling artisan pastries, toasties and decent coffee. Unique asian inspired flavors goodies. Not much space inside the cafe basically you get in to order and wait out when it busy.( they’re always busy most of the time actually) Fast service and friendly staff. Ps. Matcha was overrated but the canelè was great.

A definite must-try for their canelés! The Pandan Taro is absolutely phenomenal and arguably the best in town. I also loved the Jasmin tea with Raspberry—it's the perfect pairing. While the canelés were outstanding, the Earl Grey madeleine was a bit underwhelming and quite average. Be prepared for the space itself, as it is very small and cramped. There is no waiting area inside, so customers must stand outside while their order is being prepared. It's important to note that this is a take-away only establishment.

This tiny artesian bakery was right next to my hotel, really lovely cold brew coffee here and had the mushroom melt toasted sandwich too. The Pecarino cheese really gave it an interesting and very different flavour. Loved it!

It’s best canelé i ever had!!! I had Matcha yuzu bear, Hojicha and tiramisu canelé. All are crispy outside and chewy inside with toppings. The Crème Caramel, toffee and apple choux was stunning. You can’t per order their choux or cake online. Yet they updated their full menu on instagram.

It’s a shame they don’t have decaf coffee options, and their matcha and hojicha bases are already a bit sweetened 😢. That said, their slightly sweet matcha latte was actually pretty good, and we also enjoyed the canele we ordered and the latte. It’s just a bit pricey for the size

I think I had the best sandwiches of my life here. What an absolute find for all Coeliac and non-Coeliac folk; everything we had was divine. I wish I lived in Melbourne so I could come back here, repeatedly.

Cake itself and all the components were delicious! We also really appreciated that we were able to order the night before, which was pretty last minute! Thanks for accommodating us. -1 star unfortunately as foh placed the birthday plaque where the joinery of the sponge was, which i would consider the back of the cake. I think it’s important to place the plaque on the best facing part of the cake… us pastry chefs work so hard!! It’s a shame for the photo to be like that.

A great spot to enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat! The cakes here are insane- so stunning and so many people purchasing them and I can see why. They have a wide variety of mini cakes for purchase as well as pastries. They also do speciality coffees and drinks. The Ispandan- Pandan croissant was my favourite- so delicious and flakey. As well as the Orangina cake- so realistic looking! Exactly like an orange!!

This cosy café, Sucre Du Jour, is clearly a local favourite. We indulged in a few treats, and the Ispandan Croissant 🥐 was an absolute delight, as was the Portuguese Egg Tart. The coffee ☕ was also top-notch – exactly what you hope for in Melbourne. A fantastic spot for a morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

This place is popular for tart mousse cake and Pork Floss Croissant but we have not had the opportunity to try these famous pastries and desserts. We would love to visit back here to try these if we had the chance 🥹 . 𝗣𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘅: it was quite little in the flavour of pistachio in the cream . 𝗜𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁: the pandan cream was not so outstanding in flavour; however, the rose lychee balanced the sweetness and buttery of the croissant. . 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮: very fragrant jasmine tea, which went along with the desserts and pastries . 𝗜𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲: decent strength of matcha flavour and the matcha latte was quite creamy

It's a very cozy spot to eat very well made & unique desserts! The limon tart is packed with a fresh citrus flavour profile and is well balanced. Onde hits the spot for me, they nailed the pandan flavour and the oozing gula melaka was just a chefs kiss as you dig into it 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 The place smells like freshly baked cookies as well so that's a bonus 🍪 Give them a go if you’re in the area and you will not regret having your belly filled with so much tasty treats 😮‍💨

Got a birthday cake Raya here for my daughter’s 8th birthday and I m not a sweets person and I finished it! There’s sweet, salty and all the usual Asian dessert flavours. So we decided to come here and taste their other desserts as well, we got the Miyuri, croissant and chocolate chip cookies, suffice to say it was all delicious and fulfilling to say the least. Definitely a highly recommend if you’re in the area and they open on the weekends so no excuses, we came from the west side for this!

My favourite desert place in town! The owners are super talented/creative and always work on coming up with new variety of deserts both amazingly delicious and aesthetically appealing, so you’ll never run out of new option to try on every time you visit. The only downside is that there are too many great options to choose from, makes it really difficult to make decision on which one to settle on :)

Excellent cake!! Got the double chocolate ganache cake and it's every chocolate cake lovers dream come true. Super moist, rich dark chocolate. What made it better was the customer service. Needed to make changes a couple of times and the bakery was extremely helpful and efficient.

If you are coeliac and would like to indulge yourself some delicious gluten free chocolate cakes, brownies and wide variety of cakes then you should consider coming to Cremorne St Bakers. I’m a regular customer of Cremorne st bakers and they are excellent. They have become my number 1 go to for Christmas and Easter gifts as well as birthday cakes. Only challenge is getting into their store with a pram but they have always accommodated a pick up from their drive way which I really appreciate.

Bought my partner a mixed box of cakes for his birthday, and each one was soft, moist and flavourful. They're near my work so I'm excited to go and try some more of their treats.

Best basque cheesecake I’ve tried in Melbourne!

Thank you for making REAL cakes! We had the Peanut Butter Chocolate Toffee cake delivered today for a birthday celebration. The ordering was easy, the delivery was on time and well communicated. The flavours in the cake we received were exactly as described. It looked exactly as pictured on the website, probably a little bigger irl than it looked on the website actually. Just the best store bought cake I have ever tasted, rivals the best homemade cakes, even my own 😄 Cremorne Steet Bakers is going on our favourites list.

Hands down the worst tasting cake I’ve ever had. Not sure how they have such a high rating. The frosting on my cake tasted of pure icing sugar and sponge is dense, very dark prior to icing, and dry as desert. Not worth the $120 dollars, coles makes better cakes than this. As a cake lover and chef, I was really looking forward to a fantastic birthday cake from a reputable cake shop; it was a let down from as soon as I tried to sliced through. This cake is all aesthetic and no soul. Biggest let down of my birthday and will never go back or recommend to anyone. There are a million of better cake shops in Melbourne like Cake by Kendyll. Give this one a miss. Harsh? Maybe, but I’m passionate about cakes. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money.

Niko's has some of the best cakes and coffee I've ever had. I heard George Clooney likes to stop by here so I just had to try it. There were some pigeons and I heard someone exclaim, "Oh no they're coming in through the backdoor!" But the Niko's team got that sorted quickly. I highly recommend this place.

Been here many times for desserts & drinks and never fails. Quick service with nice portions at reasonable prices. I really need to try out the food here sometime soon 😉

This cake shop and cafe is a lovely place to visit. They have good options with great taste, and the cafe makes it even better for a quick stop. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Prices are fair, which makes it worth coming back. You can just walk in, but if you want a specific cake, it’s better to pre-book. The only challenge is finding timed street parking nearby, but overall it’s a great spot.

One of the best New York cheese cakes I have ever tasted. The service was impeccable and the place had a nice atmosphere. Coffee was nice too. Will definitely be returning.

I was surprised with a cake from Nikos Cakes for my 18th Birthday tonight. The talented team created the cake to look like my favourite book and the actual cake was designed as a book as well. It looked incredible to the point that I didn’t want to cut it, but it was delicious nonetheless. Thank you Nikos and continue the amazing work ❤️🔥

Lots of variety of desserts, very busy cafe and great atmosphere, we ordered pistachio cake (very sweet and liked the fluffiness) oreo mud cake (super dry, not very moist, not much oreo flavour) yoyo (not really sure what it was, lots of custud filling which was sweet and tangy. soy latte was nice. lots of options, would come back to try other desserts, I believe there are 20+ options and also have lots of savoury options on the other side of the store.

⭐ 1 Star – Rude and Unpleasant Experience I visited Niko’s Quality Cakes in Oakleigh and had one of the most unpleasant customer experiences I’ve had in a while. While I was taking a short video of the sweets at the counter, an older woman who works there abruptly interrupted me — like a seagull swooping in — just to get behind the counter. I let it go and bought a Turkish pistachio pastry for $8.90, asking her to pack it since I had an appointment after. I sat down outside for a few minutes to enjoy it and take a quick photo, but she came at me again and told me to get out because it was a smoking area. I wasn’t smoking, just quietly eating what I’d just paid for. The tone and attitude were unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Businesses like this are supposed to make people’s days a little brighter — not treat customers as a nuisance. It’s sad to see a place with good-looking pastries and such poor customer service.

French Lettuce is a delightful café with delicious pastries and top-notch coffee. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Julia provided exceptional service—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend!

I bought two pieces of the vanilla slice cake to take away. The taste was good and the creamy part reminded me of the popular german dessert called bee sting cake. I just didn’t like the top and bottom puff pastry too much, which could be replaced into a more fluffy batter for my taste buds.

Price on the high side although probably the best VS l've had by far as the balance, texture, flavour, lightness, crispy light laying and overall i had no fatigue after eating this. Truly an outstanding piece 9/10 from me as not a fan of dusting although it's a 10/10 all day long.

When you need to eat sweet treats you come here. And today it was for a vanilla slice known as one of the best in Melbourne. There are lots of sweet choices as well as some savoury pies to choose from. Large cheesecakes, mid ales right up to wedding cakes on offer. There are only a few chairs and tables inside if you wanted to stay and eat but in warmer months you can sit outside and watch the world of Nicholson Street go by. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly sky. Good parking out the front. A must visit.

Small, cute and underrated. This place makes an incredible baguette sandwich and good coffee. There isn’t much indoor seating except for some bar stools but you can sit outside. There is a lot of café food options to choose from which is always great to see. Also, the staff is very helpful and the dude has a crazy viking beard.

This bakery has my heart! Their blue cheese and garlic fougasse is hands down the best you’ll find in Melbourne. The almond croissant is also fantastic — for me, it’s the second best in town. I grabbed a garlic & rosemary fougasse, an almond croissant, and two regular lattes for $26.50. They’ve got a great selection of rolls, sandwiches, and breads. Highly recommend checking them out!

Thank God I came across this bakery! Ordered the egg salad sandwich, sticky bun and fruit danish. I’ve saved this place for a few years now and I finally got to try it. I tried the dark chocolate chip cookie with sea salt and also the toffee scroll. One bite into the chocolate chip cookie and the rich and bitter taste of dark chocolate coats my mouth. The outer layer of the cookie is crispy while the inner part is chewy. I can’t imagine how good it will taste fresh out the oven. The toffee scroll was recommended by the person taking my order. The bread is a tad bit dry but it could also be because of the timing that I went. It wasn’t too sweet which always wins plus points for me. The walnuts are crispy, and the bread itself has some savoury notes to it. The cream on top saves the bread as the light sweetness and the moistness from it complements the dryness and savouriness of the bread. I would not say that I would crave these, but it’s well made pastries that won’t go wrong. I also would like to add that I found a reaaaaaaaaally small strand of hair in the cream (listed in the last photo). I understand accidents happen and you guys probably uphold sanitation in the kitchen. I’ll let it slide because the pastries were good. Just be careful!

One of the best bakes we’ve had this trip to Melbourne! Our local friend highly recommended the garlic & rosemary fougasse - and lo and behold, it was the BEST bread. Easily in my top 10 breads of all time. The financier was delightful too. I think there were gooey bites of Nutella in there?!? Still so good even the next day! We absolutely loved everything. Service was homely and warm, couldn’t have asked for more. It’s a little out of city centre, but so worth the travel. Definitely a must-visit! 🏃🏻💨

Visited this shop twice at around 8am and it was starting to get busy. Therefore highly recommended to arrive early to best the crowd. The quality and variety of bread and pastry are very good. Ordered a flat white one of the days and it was very, very good too. Extremely friendly staff to help you pick out what you need.

Small cafe with only 2 seating. There was a long at oneish, perhaps everyone was grabbing a quick bite? Had the Beef bourguignon. Goes well with the chilli sauce provided, otherwise it was too tad too salty for me. There were chunky pieces of beef and bacon, carrots. Nicely done.

I tried Tarts Anon’s special pandan coconut tart and it was amazing. The pandan had a subtle flavour that worked beautifully with the coconut, and the balance of flavours was spot on. The base was perfect, exactly what you’d want in a tart. I also tried the sticky date earl grey. I’m usually not a big fan of earl grey as it can be overly fragrant and almost soapy, but here it was done just right. The earl grey was delicate, complimenting the sticky date without overpowering it. I also had their ube foam matcha - the ube foam itself had a nice flavour, but the matcha was a bit average. The quality of the matcha used wasn’t amazing.

Came here on international coffee day and got a free coffee flan tart with an order of coffee. Also had two of the monthly special tarts which took about 20 minutes after opening time before they were available. The flat white was mildly strong and well balanced which paired well with the sweet tarts. The coffee flan tart was decent; quite flaky but didn't like the inner layer of the crust which seems to be slightly undercooked. However both the matcha strawberry and the hazelnut tiramisu tart were tasty and not too sweet.

The Smoked Pecan & Butterscotch Tart is unreal—perfect balance of sweet, nutty, and smoky in a buttery crust. Easily one of the best desserts in Melbourne. Can’t wait to try more!

It’s not the cheapest pastry in town, but the quality is so high that it feels worth every cent. They’re the kind of tarts you want to bring to a dinner party or keep just for yourself at home with a coffee — they always feel a bit special. Tarts Anon is easily one of the best pastry spots in Melbourne, and once you’ve tried them it’s hard to go back to anything else.

Stopped in for a quick afternoon pick me up and boy did it hit the spot! The apple and elderflower tart was so delicately balanced with the sweet and slightly tart flavours while the chocolate and caramel was rich, creamy and gooey in all the right ways! Definitely go here if tarts and desserts are your thing!

What a cute little spot! The lamingtons were so fluffy and not too sweet - and with heaps of interesting flavour options. The sausage rolls were also so tasty - and so were the drinks.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and it was better than I expected. The matcha latte isn’t too sweet. The lamingtons are light and moist inside. The yuzu meringue one is definitely worth trying :)

This is a 10/10 for me 🥹 I wanna go back already, I found out about Tokyo Lamington in Carlton for a while for only got a chance to visit today and I’m very grateful! I came with my mum for a morning matcha run and she got a normal matcha latte while I tried the matcha lavender latte and while the sizes are quite small the matcha here is really a favourite of mine so it’s worth it! The flavour is really nice and strong and the lavender was also strong but I really enjoyed trying the different flavour. The miso mushroom pie had a really nice strong miso flavour and was really yummy. I also enjoyed the melon matcha lamington, it also has a strong melon flavour that I really enjoyed trying. The cafe itself is really nicely decorated, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with lots of plants. A true highlight of my visit was also the customer service because staff are very friendly and happy to help.

Tried two flavours take away at home and both were delicious, but the Dubai Chocolate was the clear winner being rich but not too sweet. The OG had a nice cream and jam filling and great coconut flakes, but the chocolate coating a little too sweet.

Lovely little spot 💛 Had their vegan lamington (chai + chia flavour today) which was delicate and light, the lavender matcha latte on oat milk and the sesame latte on oat milk which were both delicious. Such a calming space to sit and have a hot drink and dessert. 💕

The most beautiful Leamington I have ever tried such a great assortment. Beautiful Customer Service as well… they do great coffees and they’re always changing their flavours. Which is great… was recently again at Tokyo Leamington Carlton due to a great support raising funds for Do It For Dolly.💐

Went to Vanilla Lounge for a sit down coffee and food. First went to the counter to order some desserts to take home later. We were told at least 3 times by the staff that we CANNOT eat these at the table, when asked why she said it's because they charge the tables more money, that's weird and really cheap... charging tables more for the same items seriously? After sitting down we were ushered and served by the rudest staff member. Middle aged woman with glasses with a sour attitude over nothing. After waiting 10 minutes, our coffees came out by a different staff member who was confused as the rude staff member must have put the wrong table number for our order, we had to call them over to deliver it to our table. I should mention the other waiting staff were lovely. After a horribly crafted coffee and horrible service we cancelled the rest of our large order and walked out. I've had better looking instant coffee let alone paying these prices (see my pictures). Place is loud and hard to talk, also has a door that keeps swinging open and blowing cold air at a bunch of tables. What an embarrassment, I recommend you get take-out desserts and snacks and leave as fast as you can.

The food was fairly average — nothing particularly memorable in terms of flavor or presentation. However, the service stood out as a positive aspect; the staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout the meal. One major downside was the noise level. The restaurant was extremely loud, making it difficult to hold a conversation or even hear the person sitting next to you.

Visited Vanilla Lounge in Oakleigh tonight. The atmosphere was lively—perhaps a bit loud at times, but still manageable for a good night out. Service was definitely a highlight, with plenty of attentive staff making sure everything ran smoothly. I was hoping for a bit more variety in the offerings, as the display was limited to just one main island. Still, the quality was solid and overall it was an enjoyable experience. Would come back again!

We recently set up a play corner upstairs at Vanilla to help keep the kids entertained during an event. It's a beautiful venue with lovely, accommodating staff. The spacious upstairs area was perfect for the setup and would work well for all kinds of events. Highly recommend!

Food is good. A little pricy, but portion is huge. Highly recommend making reservation. Otherwise the wait can be as long as 15-30 minutes for a table.

While it is a very busy place and can be a bit noisy, the overall experience is 5 stars. Food is delicious, staff is pleasant, coffee is just right and cakes are delightful. Compliments to the chef and the pastry chef.

Came to try the new dessert bar. Decided to have coffee first as we were a little early and the outside staff guy was fantastic! Great chai Latte. Finally dessert time and it was so good. Over 60 toppings to choose from! And you can top pastries or just get a cup yochi style. It's like yochi on steroids. We ended up taking cakes home as well to share with family, because everything was so fresh and delicious! Would definitely go again!

I was here for at least 3 times over a week during my holidays here in late July. That explains how good the pastry here is. Tasted almost everything that is offered here. Price is on the high side, but the quality made it up. This cafe is a bit small, more suitable for takeaway or a quick bite before you move on. There is road side parking just right in front of the cafe so it is very convenient for those who drives.

Finally tried Lune as I’m usually buying from Agathe or South Melbourne bakery. We tried a few and the quality is good, crunchy and soft. Our favourite was the ham and cheese, absolutely delicious. Always wondered about the line every weekend and then we saw how small it is on the inside. Quality might have something to do with it too. They’re expensive but what isn’t these days. Service was excellent. Thank you 🙏

A famous croissant shop in Australia — today I finally got to try the Melbourne branch! Luckily, the queue wasn’t too long. The croissants were delicious and lived up to their reputation — perfectly crisp and flaky. If you love that crunchy texture, you’ll probably enjoy these. Personally, I think if the line were much longer, it might not feel that worth the wait, but the quality is definitely good. The prices are on the higher side, though still reasonable given the large portion size. My favorite was the original, while the almond one was also nice. I also tried the chocolate but found it just okay — the lemon one, however, was really well done! 🥐🍋

I finally had the chance to visit this place, and what I loved most were the coffee and the fresh, delicious pastries. There's not much else to say—it's a small, mostly takeaway spot. I wasn't actually aware of that beforehand, which was a bit of a surprise 😅. The place has a minimalist vibe, and I really appreciated how the menu was displayed on the table—very easy and thoughtful. I guess I was expecting a coffee shop with tables and chairs but overall, the coffee and pastries were fantastic. It was quite a busy spot, but that just shows how popular it is!

I usually am pretty forgiving in reviews but with such a famous establishment I am sad to say it was…meh. I went with a group of 5 people, one of them was me. Two of them got coffee, I asked one to write what they thought of it and they wrote “With a lack of coffee milk options and an extraction that tastes sour despite being based on good Ona beans, it feels like Lune needs to focus on good coffee to pair with their excellent pastries.” To sum it up in their words ”the coffee was shit”. Some would say that Lune is about the pastries and not the coffee and I agree, I am sad to say the pastries were meh. My friend said it wasn’t worth it and I have to agree. At an average of $6 to $8 a pastry, they felt more created to look nice than taste good. In fact I would say they rely on looks, from the ridiculous lines, them making the pastries in front of you and of course the beautiful looking pastries.

The service at Lune was great, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The croissants are definitely on the pricier side, and I would have liked the option to have them toasted given the cost. That said, I understand it’s a very busy spot so it might not be practical. Seating would have been nice, though I do appreciate the unique standing experience they offer. The option of sparkling and still water on tap is a great touch. We ordered two almond croissants, which were beautifully made and clearly high quality, but overall I’m not sure they fully justified the price.

Ordered an almond and classic crossiant. Almond is a 5 on 5. Flaky, perfect amount of sweetness and good taste of almond. The classic crossiant was a 3 out of 5. A little soggy for my liking. People who like crossaint on the more flaky and crispy end, might not like it. Sorry I was so excited, I ate it first and then took the pictures 😂

I wanted to try some desserts and they turned out amazing! The desserts are super cute, and I even bought some takeaway for my friend to try. Everything was delicious and beautifully decorated. The space is big, perfect for meeting up with friends. Definitely a must-try!!

Nice chilli kick to the pasta which was probably more al dente than I would normally like, but the combination of ingredients was tasty. Salad was simple but done well. Shouldn’t get Caesar wrong but unfortunately many places do, I liked it here. Mushroom pizza had plenty of mushroom but couldn’t really taste the truffle, still nice. The pepperoni was yummy with the hot honey and the stracciatella. The dough was pillowy soft, so I even ate the crust! I don’t normally eat crust but I really appreciated it was both chewy and soft. An overall yummy experience with the food. The desserts? I could pass. Strawberry matcha was too sweet and a waste of money. Coffee was acceptable. The service was quite scrambled and rushed and hard to get service at times as the cafe was really busy so I kinda expected that. For example, got our dishes but no utensils or extra plates so had to go back and forth a few times. Ignore that lack of attentiveness and just eat.

After trying their version of lemon meringue, pandan croissant and almond croissant a couple months back via a special promotion, I decided to come back to try out their cakes for Father's Day and got their father's day gateau and lemon tart. Beautiful French-style desserts and pastries, baked fresh daily 🥐🍰 Everything is so delicate and delicious – from the Cheri Supreme Pizza to the Yuzu Cheesecake and Cruffin. Perfect spot right next to South Melbourne Market. Highly recommended!

Breakfast @cherieatery 👄 👄 Chérie opened for ages but I didn’t realise that they not only do cakes and icecream, they do savoury breakfasts as well! I had their matcha latte and it was delicious and smooth. Their chicken cotoletta was fresh , crispy and delicious! My only gripe is that the music was a bit loud for an early morning breakfast and everyone was shouting over each other just to be heard.

Just a short walk from the South Melbourne Markets, Cherie Café is found at 285-287 Coventry St. This vibrant patisserie is a dessert aficionado's dream. On a sun-kissed winter Sunday, our group of six embarked on a sweet degustation that definitely required tracksuit pants, as our eyes certainly outstripped our stomach capacities. The café buzzes with energy, filled with laughter and an abundance of tourists. The décor is a kaleidoscope of orange and red, perfectly complementing the eye-catching cake display. This place breaths indulgence. I personally savored six cakes, each one better than the last. In fact, I can’t choose a favorite; they all rock! Cherie is or wil become an icon stop not to be missed, especially if you dare to embrace the risk of extreme overindulgence. A solid 10/10

Only tried the pastries so far, they are not cheap, but they are tasty. Seating is not cramped, and the place feels more casual. 5*, been here twice and will be back. I’ve tried - the chocolate brownie croissant, fruit danish, ham & cheese croissant, truffle mushroom croissant and croissant cube.

Been coming here for 3 years and the pastries have always been great. However, there have been a few instances of price discrepancies and missing orders, so I could see improvements in service to really boost the establishment. Picked up a slice of their bread and butter pudding with apricots this morning, and while lovely I was surprised to pay $9 at the till, given there’s to pricing signage anywhere. I would recommend that items are labelled with a description and price, as sometimes I am surprised at the total when paying (as was the case today). All in all, great local bakery.

We wanted to try this local bakery. The offer a lot of options, mostly sweet pastries. We tried the hazelnut croissant and the ham&Chee with bechamel sauce. They were both good, balanced. I would say they were good but nothing special. I think it's a good option for a low key weekend treat. The prince range in my option is high for the quality we paid $18 for the two croissants. For now, I wouldn't return to buy the same items.

Small shop with big surprises! The bakery is so colourful and tasty. You can taste and smell the freshness in them. Definitely recommend!

I stumbled upon the S’roll on Google Maps while I was in the area this weekend. The bakery was relatively empty when I visited past 1 pm. The S’roll is generously portioned and filling. Despite the thin crust, it doesn’t make me feel overly carb-loaded, though I probably did. It’s a delightful savoury treat that’s also satisfying enough for a lunch. Their other pastries look really good as well! Will return again :)

A lovely artisan bakery with quality goods. Primarily we came for the almond croissant in our journal of the best Almond Croissant in Melbourne and Aus. Tivoli scores a solid 7.5/10, generous filling, not as airy as I'd like but a definite recommender stop if you're around and craving an almond croissant. Will definitely stop by again when we're in the area again!

I've been several times and I've loved it every time, their pastry cream is top tier! I've tried their chocolate and caramel croissant, strawberry danish, Bischoff croissant, cruffin, hazelnut and tiramisu pastry, as their strawberry and cream croissant out of their sweet food, and I've tried their pies, sausage rolls, and spanakopita out of their savoury pastries, I think their sweet pastries are better than their savoury, but still they are all good, and I enjoy their hot chocolates as well, if you're in the area I would totally give it a shot

Had the opportunity to try their cream cheese, caramel, carrot cake ice cream (that’s the flavour). It was really nice, very creamy and sweet. Very subtle hints of the carrot cake and it was more cream cheese-y and caramel. Also got their hot chocolate… it was topped with ice cream. It was very rich and smooth… the ice cream adds that satisfying coldness to it. Highly recommend this place!

Definitely my favourite gelato store in Melbourne! All the flavours are fantastic and traditional from Italy. Never get disappointed on the monthly specials as well. Mostly recommend pistachio and salted caramel for all the time! See how many times I had been here!

Tried their Pistachio + Passion Fruit & Ginger combo — absolutely divine! 💚💛 The pistachio was creamy, nutty, and rich, while the passion fruit and ginger sorbet added the perfect tangy and refreshing contrast. Such a balanced and addictive mix! The texture was super smooth, and you can really taste the quality ingredients. Beautiful shop vibes too — bright, modern, and cheerful. Definitely one of the best gelatos I’ve had in Melbourne! 🍨✨

What a delightful gelateria! We stopped by for a treat and were so impressed. We ordered two scoops: one pistachio and one coconut. The pistachio was wonderfully nutty and authentic, while the coconut was incredibly creamy and fresh. Together, they were a match made in heaven! The price was very reasonable for the high quality. A must-try spot for gelato lovers in Melbourne.

I love they open heater when outside is too cold. I prefer pistachio in here than Piccolina very salty. I taste more nutty flavor here, but at first I not quite used to the strong flavor. Nutella is not that good actually, expect should be more chocolate.

I thought I’d try the signature hot chocolate winter special. It didn’t disappoint. Heavenly on a cold Melbourne winters evening. The perfect balance of hot chocolate and gelato. The marshmallows take it to the next level. Stopping at just one is hard to do! Only available until end of August. Definitely worth the price.

Their gelato is supreme - the texture is perfect, and the flavour just washes over you in the most heavenly way. It was so good we came back here 2 more times! I would most highly recommend their vanilla and honeycomb, which might be one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. Take note that there may be a queue and a little bit of a wait, but their gelato is absolutely worth it.

Came here on a weekend day just after lunch before they close. We ordered the croissant with home made jam, and a egg baguette sandwich. Both of which are divine. The bread crunch and the flavour of the egg and mayo is moorish and can’t be stopped.

Once I came by this bakery as they were closing. To be honest I think they had closed and forgot to lock the door. The guy working there sold me a loaf of bread for cheap, and gave me a free pastry and a free sandwich. It was such a bounty of baked goods.

For a bakery with only a few tables, Loafer packs in the quality. Organic, biodynamic flours, artisan technique — you can taste the difference. And it feels like a proper local treat.

Such a cute nook just off St Georges Rd! Loafer bread is definitely an Melbourne institution that cannot be missed, and I'm so happy that I finally got to try their pastries. From first glance you can already tell its going to be a yummy pastry as the colouring and shine on the outside is perfect. The pastry was both crunchy and flaky which is a must for me, and it had a well cooked taste which I enjoyed as well. The actual inside of the croissant was well cooked and super super light, but there wasn't too much flavour to it unfortunately and lacked the sweet and buttery taste I tend to look for in a croissant. Rating: Flakiness and Crunch 9/10 Flavour: 7/10 Lamination: 7/10 Overall it was an above average croissant and I reckon it deserved a 7.5/10 🤩

I’ve worked in hospo my whole life and just moved down to Melbourne in January so I’ve never been a regular of my own ever. I’m so glad I moved in down the road from loafer. The coffee is delish, I love bringing my own mug it’s the best idea. The pastries are one of the best in Melb. Every staff member is so lovely, but I need to give a special shoutout to Ken as he has made my morning every time I go! We love you Ken! And of course Patrick is awesome and I always love having a chat.

Delicious crispy almond croissant for the best value in Melbourne! Loafer Bread was this week’s agenda on my list of finding the best croissants in Melbourne. For only $6.50, with staff who kindly warmed up the pastries, I highly recommend trying it out! Compared to the other almond croissants in the game, this one’s got a hefty amount of almonds which adds a heap of nutty flavour but I’m not complaining! Butteriness is an understatement! It’s more on the crispier side than it is flaky, and just a little bit over baked at that time :( The frangipane filling inside was definitely the star of the show here - good amount of spices with a nice mellow tone of rum, soft consistency. Personally didn’t blow my mind and I would prefer it less sweeter but if it was in my area, 100% would be grabbing this on the regular! Food: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 5/5

Had the chicken sandwich, it's alright nothing to write home about. I was expecting the bread to be the start of the show, being they are famous for their bread, but it was just alright. I'm a bit underwhelmed because it was a bit pricey. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience.

Delicious and Decadent. My partner and I had the tuna sandwich, cinnamon scroll, and the margarita pesto pizza from here, and my goodness, it's heavenly. Highly recommend it. It was our first time there and the attendent that served us threw in an extra scroll too - which made our day 🥰 It's slightly on the higher end of prices but rightfully so because that's the level of quality and flavour their products exude and pack.

Hands down Melbourne's best Portugese tart bar none. And also easily in my top 5 best Almond Croissants in Melbourne. Having documented over 70 patisseries in my journalling of Almond Croissants around Australia, I will always be happy to travel to any Baker Bleu locations for some tasty pastries. Highly recommended.

They are one of the few bakeries in Melbourne that make the Kouign amann- unfortunately they tend to be a bit more burnt than other bakeries version, but the unburnt ones are fantastic. Not a lot of space to eat, esp in winter, but the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent and the coffee is delicious. Do yourself a favor and try their cinnamon scroll 🤤

I wanted to hop by before uni to get myself a treat, I got there at 10am and have been really wanting to try the salad sandwich however they said they didn’t serve it until after 10 and it was already 10, I just don’t understand how they had every other sandwich but the salad sandwich when it doesn’t even require any sort of protein? So I got the chicken sandwich instead, which I’ve already had before. I also got the sausage roll and it was given to me cold :( I wish I could’ve given better service and product next time.

Purchased some Bagels..Seeded bread..Almond croissant and all were really good!! 10/10 I also ordered a Chai Latte and asked for it to be extra hot and extra strong, the staff repeated it back to me to which I agreed. I got my order and drove off, the Chai was COLD! I was disappointed as I made a point of saying how I wanted it...obviously the barista doesn't actually read the orders.

The pastry was quite good! It had a nice flaky texture and was baked to a golden perfection. The filling was flavorful, though it could have been a bit richer. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. I’d rate it 80/100—solid and satisfying!

Beautiful, quality pastries. We’re here on a weekend and pretty busy, but the line moves fast. Coffee was average but worth your time for the pastries - will return to try out the loaves.

It’s a bit of a mixed pastry experience. The croissant was decent but nothing to rave about — a bit underwhelming in flakiness and depth of flavour. However, the Kouign-amann was absolutely outstanding — perfectly caramelized, rich, and buttery with a great balance of crisp and chew. The real surprise hit was the Vegemite danish — a genius combo of savoury, cheesy, and just enough pastry sweetness to keep it interesting.

Had an early breakfast at Q Le Baker and it was excellent. The almond croissant and ham & cheese croissant were both standouts — buttery, flaky, and fresh. Nice and quiet around 8am with plenty of seating in the market. Great spot to start the day!

I gave them a very brief idea of what I wanted, and they delivered a cake that was more beautiful and delicious than I could have ever imagined. They created a stunning Burnt Basque Cheesecake with fresh raspberries and a touch of gold leaf. The raspberries were so fresh and held their form perfectly, making it very presentable. The cake itself was incredible—it had a classy level of sweetness that wasn't overwhelming. The crumb had a satisfying texture that was perfectly firm without being burnt. I couldn't be happier with the result or with how helpful and professional the team was. They truly made a special day even more perfect. I highly recommend Q Le Baker for any custom order!

I would describe this bakery as ‘fine enough’…Almond croissant was not that fantastic honestly. The almond filling was too thick and clunky I found. The NY style white chocolate and raspberry cookie was alright. I think this place is more for if you’re in a rush and don’t mind a sort of average coffee & sweet treat.

Millé & B offered a pretty large selection of crepe cakes, macarons & drinks. We tried the black sesame & taro crepe cakes with a side of blueberry vanilla macaron. The crepe cakes looked pretty but were not very decadent nor did they have very strong flavors. Macaron with its crispy shells was pretty good, yuzu & lime soda was refreshingly delicious. Lovely cosy atmosphere and quick service.

Little crepe cake shop hidden in the middle! Stumbled across this patisserie as we were walking along to kill time. Have a good range of crepe cake slices which all look stunning! We got the Taro slice, which was amazing. The artistry to ensure that all layers are consistently equal, even spread of normal cream and taro cream! Deffs recommend for the cute vibes and just a great crepe cake!

It’s literally been a while since I’ve been back here but I’m so glad this shop is still going strong and the quality remains the same since. Never went low. I tried the pistachio dream this time around and it was good! The bf loved it for his birthday cake ❤️ I do note though that the pistachio is subtle so don’t expect loud or bold flavours. Also, staff are extremely nice and helpful which is always a plus!

The taro mille crepe cake was light and delicate in flavour and the Earl Grey Dark Chocolate Macaron had a light taste of early grey that lingered and wasn't overpowered by the dark chocolate. Both great flavours, would definitely recommend.

A hidden gem of a dessert shop in the city! The staff were kind, and the cake was exactly what I hoped for in a crepe cake. The seasonal mandarin flavor made me happy ( *・ω・)

Not a big fan of sweets, but this is no doubt my favourite cake shop! Been ordering Crepe Cakes here for 4+years and it never disappoints. Presentation is always good. Cakes are always made on time AND Prices are definitely reasonable. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Not to mention their shop interior is definitely the stylish, cleanest and tidy cake shop I ever seen! I wish they had a loyalty program - because of how often I go sometimes. Otherwise, would greatly recommend to friends, dates and families.

One of our favourite recent finds. We’ve bought our last two birthday cakes from here, and the size is truly perfect for the two of us. Something we can enjoy during the night and for a few days to come. We bought their recent seasonal cakes and enjoyed both, with the Yuki Akari being our shared favourite. A perfect balance of sweet and creamy, light and refreshing. Pick-ups have been smooth, and the staff are polite and kind. Dropped by LeTao and tried their soft serve — it was rich, creamy, and paired perfectly with their signature cheesecake. We wanted to try more of their cakes, but unfortunately, they were only sold as whole cakes. Since there were just two of us, we were worried we wouldn’t be able to finish it. Hopefully, they’ll offer cake slices in the future — we’d love to try more! Still, a great experience overall and highly recommended for dessert lovers.

We tried their ice-cream + cheesecake bowl and were completely blown away. The dessert was rich, smooth and beautifully balanced. There is usually a short queue but clearly worth the wait. The store design is impressive - clean, minimalist, with stone and concrete style finishes that make the desserts stand out like works of art. You can sample different desserts before buying. Also, they serve soft-serve ice cream in milk or cheese flavours, and many of the cheesecakes are shipped from Japan and then thawed or served fresh in the store.  Overall, if you love premium desserts and a stylish café environment, LeTAO Melbourne delivers. The craftsmanship, flavour and setting all combine to create something memorable.

Tried their sandwich and some big sweet rolls...the taste was really good, though a bit harder to bite than I expected (not as soft as I thought it would be). The bakery gets very busy with long lines, so best to go early or avoid peak hours. Prices add up quickly if you buy 2–3 items, and it’s honestly hard to stop at just one. That being said, I did find the prices on the higher side. Another downside is that there isn’t enough seating inside, and parking was also quite difficult to find. Overall, I’d recommend it if you’re really craving this kind of baked good, but personally, I wouldn’t go back because of the high prices and lack of space.

Located in Bayswater just next to “The Hatter & the Hare” (same owners) It’s a shame this bakery doesn’t have tables / seating (indoor or out) for those who’d like to sit / relax & enjoy their coffee / breakfast / lunch with their croissants 🥐 I got there at 10:15 and the cabinet already looked half empty, didn’t look like they were restocking anything, so I figure you’ve got to go early to see & experience the whole range. My first time here so I thought I’d try a few, I chose the Lemon🍋 & Blueberry 🫐 Basque Cheesecake & the Macadamia Dubai Chocolate Fullmoon. The artistry & attention to detail in these creations is amazing, they look too good to destruct. I was surprised at how hard they were at the initial bite, I imagined them to be soft, smooth, airy & buttery ~ they were not, they were however, tasty & very sweet & packed full of the ingredients mentioned. The cost is very pricey, in saying that, they are a piece of art & I appreciate the work that goes into them. I ordered an almond cap without asking what almond milk they use, my coffee was terrible, i had to throw it out 🤢 I only ever drink “milk lab” from cafes, this was definitely NOT milk lab, tasted like some cheap & nasty almond milk. (I’d be interested to know what they use?) My bad! Overall, this bakery is well worth the visit, but I recommend coming early. Would definitely give it another go as it’s not far from home.

There’s no denying that Dröm Bakery knows how to impress visually — the pastries are creative, detailed, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is lively and the displays are picture-perfect. That said, I personally found the taste didn’t quite live up to the presentation. The items I tried (pretzel & butterscotch date pudding pastry) were lovely to look at but rather mild in flavour. Service was friendly but it took around 25 min for the Salmon bagel and three cheese curry toastie to come. Worth visiting if you enjoy artistic desserts and a stylish setting, though I’d love to see more focus on flavour to match the artistry.

Great pastries/croissants, the best I've found in Melbourne! This place is waaaay better than Lune Croissanterie. Highly recommend. I suggest to Dröm manager to improve the queue area. Once ordered, most people don't know where to wait. Also, adding extra display would help people at the end of the long queue to choose what to take while waiting.

One of the absolute best Bakeries in all of Victoria I feel. If you can get here…I definitely would recommend this bakery over the overly-hyped and boring Lune. Always come back to try out their new season croissants. From something sweet to something savoury, they have options for whatever you’re feeling!

From bakery has such fancy and aesthetic croissants which are not only good looking but delicious!!! I had their hazelnut chocolate and rhubarb croissant, and it had the perfect amount of chocolate and had the perfect crunch. Completely loved it!!

Pastries have consistently been a delightful treat, always offering a wonderful experience for us. However, the coffee unfortunately is a let down. Its inconsistency makes it difficult to depend on, often leading to disappointment. It is a shame because the baked goods are undeniably exceptional!! Hopefully, improvements can be made to the coffee to match the high standard of the pastries.

The service was solid just a lot going on.The portuguese tart was the best I have had in a long OMG.::The coffee was good.. my long Mac was little long .. but I am very fussy.. and my partners cafe late was weak for his liking… but overall such a hidden gem in East Brunswick…we will be back when back in this hood

This bakery was recommended to me by a friend, and it didn’t disappoint. Since I had eaten early, I tried the fermented chilli, garlic, and cheddar twist. It was good, though I think the pastry would be even better if it were warm. I love the aesthetic of the cafe. The glass panel allowed customers to see the kitchen in action, which was a nice touch. I’ll definitely be returning for more!

A hidden gem tucked away in a quiet residential pocket.. this sandwich bakery serves up some of the best toasties in Melbourne! While there was a bit of a queue, the service was quick. The sandwiches were freshly made, packed with flavour, and absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. And to top it off, the coffee was excellent... smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. Well worth seeking out if you are in the area!

came around 11 am on sunday, and everything was almost sold out. Plain Croissant Beautiful layers, but they don't reheat it so a bit hard to eat and can't enjoy the butter fragrance fully I bring my own tumblr but after payment I am confused because they say later. Turns out, they will call your name and then pour the drink directly into tumblr. Pastie Reheated yayy. Inside is mashed potato mixed with herbs. Similar to curry puff in Asians. But I'm not a fan of the sauce. They have indoor heater since the dining area is open, but i think it was too strong. I feel like my face is burned after sitting for a while.

i tried the focaccia & it was great - although i agree with the other reviewers saying it would probably be even better warm! good value as the slice was huge. friendly service & good seating available too. nice to see that they had sweet & savoury vg friendly options.

Great sourdough, but I’d steer clear of the coffee. I honestly can’t believe this is coming from someone who was once at Market Lane — how could Huw allow his baristas to serve coffee like this? I saw a latte being served with almost 40% froth and the barista making pour-over just splashed the water in a rush carelessly with no technique. I’d give the coffee a 2, but the bread deserves a 6. The sourdough is truly among the best in Melbourne. The toastie especially — with its pronounced tang, chewy texture, and moist crumb — is outstanding.

Really disappointed with the welcome and underwhelming set up here. Wanted to sit outside for coffee and food, no tables, long benches unsuitable for sitting as a group, wooden deck area spacious but put off by the dogs poo next to it. Went 200m down the road to a lovely cafe with a great vibe

Chill spot with Japanese cafe food and retro vibes. The ebi prawn katsu roll and mentai toast were just okay. But the dirty fries were the highlight—super crispy edges and perfectly coated in teriyaki butter. We also tried the iced salted kuromitsu hojicha, and even at $9, we’d absolutely get it again. Definitely planning to come back and try their famous sandos next time!

As many others before me mentioned: prices are high, food is excellent, coffee could be a little more on the stronger and warmer side. Why atmosphere only 3 pts? The booming sound of a bass-laden “ sound system” , i.e. Bluetooth speaker, really does not enhance neither the atmosphere nor the music. Yes, it has the industrial , quirky touch (and location is not easy re good sound - but sacrificing good music (when Earth, Wind and Fire sound like Fox fm commercial:-) ? Come on guys… pls give it some more careful thought on that one!

I had the original Katsu chicken sandwich and a Kinako latte ($6.5, limited time flavour). Which both were pretty good. Unfortunately our order didn’t go through on the QR code system and nobody noticed and we had trouble getting the waitresses attention to help us. The place was really cool it was in a garage type place and so was good to be inside. They make their own bread but as others have said here it is like regular bread. The sandwich would have been a lot better if it was a mayo or something in it but they wanted to charge an additional $2 to put it in (on top of the $23 you’re already paying). Another improvement would be to have more of an outdoor space. We waited 10 mins to get a table but could have easily sat outside or in the rest of the garage space if they had more seats. I think they’re trying to keep it exclusive… Overall, this is a cool Insta worthy place to check out but not worth the price IMO.

Cheeky little cafe hidden in a small warehouse with some goodies for you to try. Udon was a special and I reckon they should keep it. Sandwiches were awesome and tasty but a tad pricey. A place to remember

I tried Spicy Tako Sando and Azuki Vienna. Sando was amazing, a lot of Octopus and bread was fluffy. Azuki Vienna super enjoyable. It falls on pricey side but overall nice place and awesome menu selections.

This place is great. Sure it's pricey but it's worth it for the food, drinks and relaxing atmosphere. Chicken katsu sando was absolutely delicious. The only critique is that it is incredibly messy to eat - the cabbage keeps falling out. The iced strawberry milk sounds simple but is just perfect - sweet and yum but not over the top. Finished with a balanced matcha latte and fruit sando to take home - to full after the chicken sando!

Street parking along Leicester Street is short term, but the 58 tram stops a block away and makes arriving car free simple. Le Bajo is equal parts nostalgic milk bar and modern café, delivering thoughtful Japanese comfort food in a bright, welcoming space that encourages an extra coffee or a second visit later in the day.

Tried this cute local spot on my way to work, but left disappointed. The Jerusalem onion & cheese croissant was literally half a croissant, and the almond one started great but halfway turned into a bitter citrus custard—strange combo. No espresso, only filtered coffee with long-life milk, yet charged latte prices. Staff (possibly the owner) came off a bit blunt. Paid $27 for a half savoury, half almond-weird hybrid croissant, and a sad coffee. Definitely overpriced and not the vibe. Wanted to like it, but can’t recommend.

Delicious!! Definitely rate this the Best in Melbourne! Loved Todays savoury one: Jerusalem artichoke, roasted onion and taleggios, the pastry was crunchy, flaky and buttery and the filling had so much flavour, Delicious! The sweetness of the sweet varieties were also perfect. Service was friendly and helpful when questioned about the pastries.

My friend and I wanted to get these croissants before meeting up with our friends. So we left early and got there and tried the chocolate croissant and mango croissant. They were to die for. It’s this small little bakery basically a hole in the wall selling delicious pastries. I would definetly come back again just to have the mango croissant.

A small place selling croissants out of window. But wow! Do croissants are really good. My go to piece is the leatherwood honey and sea salt. If there is anything else interesting I will usually get it too. If you have the time, definitely a place to stop at in Melbourne.

I got the chocolate croissant to go. It was a good chocolate croissant but didn't taste a step above what you get at a lot of other bakery shops making a chocolate croissant. Maybe more butter would make it more flaky and amped up the flavour profile.

This is just review of their pain au chocolate… which is disappointing, especially for $6-7. Barely there chocolate bar / inside (unlike the one that I had in another bakery) and I bought this yesterday and had it this morning, it already felt like eating a stale bread. Not much butter, not crunchy… just meh. Ive eaten a 2-3 day chocolate croissant before that has been squished inside my bag and that one still tasted better than this. I also bought some chocolate cookies from this place before and they were very disappointing chocolate cookies. Should have learn my lesson. Never again.

I was offered chutney to go with it but refused because of my dietary restrictions; so glad I did because the flavour of the sausage roll was so awesome it didn't need any sauce (which may have detracted from the taste anyway),

Great sourdough bread. Been around for many years and always consistent product. I only buy the wholewheat bread and casalinga loaf which are delicious. The casalinga makes excellent french toast as it soaks up all the egg and becomes super lush.

It was raining heavily today and I was drawn into this bakery while passing by. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and introduced the breads to us. The bread was also delicious! Highly recommend this bakery:)

The mushroom brioche was amazing. I like mushrooms but only as a side flavour like topping on a pizza but for it to be one of the main ingredients I was hesitant but pleasantly surprised with how well it shone and came together in this brioche. The almond croissant was probably the best I have had to date. Most I have had tended tough or dry but not this. Even the ends of it was soft and delightful. The prosciutto role tho was a let down. The bread was just too tough and it’s was just plain in terms of flavour… maybe this is how is supposed to be ?

Cabinet selection is great, unfortunately no prices displayed so a guessing game. Thoughts would be on pricer side anyway. Got the foccacia, carrot cake and cheesecake. All were really delicious and well made, portion for the cost questionable but everything in the rise today. The truffle is literally its own separate add on fee. Decent foccacia personally I like mine more crisp on the outside. As for carrot cake sure the layers are very impressive, but it just is a well done carrot cake. Cheesecake is very soft and creamy in the centre if you like that. All in all all pieces picked were good but not mind blowing enough for me to come again.

Visited on 20-Sep-2025 This place serves very nice and unique cakes. The texture of honey cake was very nice, however the number of layers was significantly lower than standard for this cake type. The hazelnut cake was also very nice and super good quality. Coffee was much lower than average. Which is kind of routine for pastry shops unfortunately. Came to Mietta after seeing someone say it’s Michelin 3-star level! They sometimes offer samples of popular items or new arrivals. The carrot cake is everyone’s top pick, but I personally love the strawberry cake!

It is a 5+ star pastry in my opinion. I got Honey-misu and I was expecting very sweet cake but man it is just the right sweetness for me. I’ll go back weekly to try out other pieces. Highly highly recommended!

Five stars isn’t enough! I stumbled into this cake shop and ordered the focaccia and lemon tart—hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life. The focaccia was perfectly salty and crisp on the outside, soft and flavourful inside, and the lemon tart? Bright, balanced, and unbelievably good. Every bite felt like it was made with love and skill. I genuinely can't stop thinking about it. This place is an absolute gem—do yourself a favour and go! On the buzzing high st in northcote, with beautiful decor that feels so aesthetically pleasing.. holy sugar is such a treat! Loved the window full of enticing goodies, the tiramisu was by far our favourite 🤎 and the Swiss roll a close second 🤌🏽. Everything feels so considered, and to have a bakery with plenty indoor and outdoor seatings and a hot bevvie to drink it down.. worth the price and drive imo! We saw others taking home cakes, and can’t wait to put in an order for our next special occasion 💛

Really good!!!! Worth the price point and hype The tiramisu was amazing as well as the chocolate eclairs. Price is a little high (spent $21.50 on tiramisu and an eclair) so be aware, but for the food quality it's understanding! The shop itself is super cute but customer service could be a bit better, felt a bit awkward. Would recommend!

Read an article that former Lume chef has opened this place and had to check it out. We ordered the cinnamon cruller (fancy donut!) which was nice, passionfruit tart amazing, cookie with dulche le che filling is an absolute must have and hazelnut tiramisu was nice (but I make that better). Would go back for the cookie for sure ! Basque cheesecake was amazing!!

My partner and I had been so excited to visit for ages. We were not disappointed! We had a couple of cappuccinos with a cheesecake and both crullers - they were amazing. Melt in your mouth delicious, perfectly complimented with their coffee (which was probably one the best coffees we've had recently). Staff were super friendly and accommodating, and we bought more desserts afterwards to take home with us 😄

I’ve been to Mali Bakes many times and the service and vibes is always immaculate. So when it came time to pick a wedding cake vendor, they were at the top of the list. Patti and the team were incredible and we still have people telling us how much they loved our wedding cake. Cannot recommend them enough.

Ordered a 8” 3 layer cake, pistachio and rhubarb for a friend’s birthday. Honestly, can’t rate Mali Bakes high enough. The cake was visually perfect. The flavour, amazing and best of all, the texture was flawless! Props to the team, very happy customer.

We have had the pleasure of ordering twice from Mali Bakes. Their cakes are hands down best in town. From the buttercream icing which is perfectly balanced in sweet salty, to the moist cake with just the right density, these cakes do not disappoint. We recently had the retro garden vanilla bean cake for my husband’s birthday and the cake was enjoyed by 18 people. The aesthetic of the cake is flawless and certainly brings a wow factor to celebrations. I found the order process really simple to navigate through their online system and the cake looked identical to the one advertised. Their cakes by the slice on Saturdays allow you to enjoy a little treat in between special occasions. We throughly enjoyed the chocolate cake and apple crumble cake by the slice.

We ordered our wedding cake from Mali Bakes and ABSOLUTELY loved it. Patti was responsive and easy to work with. She also made a stunner of a cake with the florals that fit perfectly with our aesthetic. Most of all, the cake was delicious and our guests couldn’t stop raving about it! I absolutely love Brunetti Oro on Flinders Lane! ✨ It’s a beautiful space and the atmosphere is cozy. They have an amazing range of cakes, pizzas, food and drinks . It’s so hard to choose because everything looks delicious 😍. This time I only had a cappuccino ☕ and a rum cake 🍰, and they were both perfect. The coffee was smooth and rich, and the cake was so tasty . Next time I can’t wait to try more from their menu. I might even bring my laptop 💻, enjoy a coffee and cake while getting some work done , just the right the vibe for that too. A perfect spot for Italian desserts! The Bomba Nutella full of flavor, and the coffee was excellent. The cozy, classic Italian vibe makes it ideal for a quick espresso or a relaxed catch-up. A must-visit in Melbourne for anyone who loves authentic sweets.

Brunetti Pro has such an amazing selection — cakes, pastries, coffee, gelato, you name it. Everything looks and tastes so good, it’s hard to choose just one thing. The vibe is lively and fun, and it’s a great spot to hang out or grab something sweet after a meal. Definitely one of my favourite dessert spots in Melbourne!

Had a aglio olio but surprised its not in the usual olive oil but some sort of sources, and the spaghetti tasted more like chinese noodles rather than pasta. Not used to it. While the quinoa salad serving is good, but it doesn't have much taste or flavor. The location is rather crowded, and service was good thought.

Dropped in to get a birthday cake, was better than average, not too sweet, even after being in the fridge for hours, it cut like it was frozen, but the next day was much softer, was as if the glaze offered that protection.
