When in Hobart, make sure to visit the unique Machine Laundry Cafe, a popular spot located near Salamanca Square. This quirky cafe is not only known for its creative menu and oversized muffins but also for its functioning laundry service. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast while waiting for your laundry to be done in the vibrant and colorful cafe. It's a great place to relax after exploring Battery Point or shopping on Liverpool Street.
While on holiday we had to do our washing, what an amazing place to do so! The breakfast sandwiches were amazing, the staff were incredibly accommodating and happy, and the family friendly chilled out atmosphere was just the best start to the day. A staff member told my dad that the difference about this place is that the owner runs it on love, which you can definitely feel! Thank you for having us.

What a powerhouse of a cafe. This was a pleasant surprise today. Filled with vibes as it was literally filled with customers when I got her in a Tuesday at around 1pm. Seemed to have a mix of locals and tourists and the meals are excellent. I had mushrooms on toast and realised afterwards that I could downsize to a smaller size which I’ll most likely do in future as the meals are super large which is great if your coming with a huge appetite. However as I’m not a massive eater I look forward to slightly smaller portion so will definitely be back. Only downside is there were not any PowerPoints for my laptop as this was a recommendation from Gemini for somewhere to work on my laptop. So more of a come eat then go somewhere else. However big thumbs up on food and vibes!
Renee G — Google review
Came here for brunch with my friends. Such a nice atmosphere and food was unique and delicious. Daniel served us while we were there and he is fantastic, super nice and helpful. They have the best Chocolate milkshakes. Would recommend

Quick stop for breakfast. Food was delicious and a nice range of choices. Service was quick and friendly. Drinks came out quickly, food was hot and we didn't wait long, which was great as we were able to enjoy our day. Very busy but they moved orders quickly and people seemed happy.
Jane M — Google review
The best coffee in Hobart, hands down. A real eclectic vibe with a diverse menu catering for all dietary needs. Who thought to combine a laundromat with a cafe is a genius! We were attended to by Daniel, who was charming, and showed his mental prowess by remembering our whole order, food and drinks - for a table of 8! A lovely vibe, friendly staff and competitive pricing means that this will continue to be a favourite of ours when we return to Hobart in the future. I won’t hesitate to recommend this place to family and friends for their trips to Tassie too.
Ben — Google review
A laundry mat/cafe which has all the 1970’s Formica furniture I grew up with. Worth going to no matter what time of day! If you are at the Salamanca markets in Hobart stop in its industrial design meets 1970’s clique.
Mate A — Google review
Great staffs especially Daniel from Spain who is working & travelling in Aus! Not only that, the coffee and food are awesome! Must try to the toasties and the pancake!
Kenny H — Google review
We just landed in Hobart with my friends and decided to have our breakfast here. The food was delicious, the portions were just perfect, and my hot chocolate was exactly what I needed to start my morning. The service was next level, Daniel was excellent! He explained the ingredients of some dishes we didn’t know and even gave us a few tips to keep exploring the city. He truly made our holidays in Tasmania start in the best way possible. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the heart of Tasmania, Honey Badger Dessert Cafe is a charming spot that has captured the hearts of dessert lovers. Renowned for its delectable sweet treats, this cafe offers an impressive array of desserts that are simply irresistible. While they do serve savory breakfast options, it's their signature dishes like panookies—delicious cookies baked in tiny pans and topped with mouth-watering ingredients—that truly steal the show.
Honey Badger Dessert Café is the sort of place you wander into for “just one quick sweet” and end up staying until you scrape the last caramel bead from the plate. Tucked into Salamanca Square, the room mixes polished timber with pops of pastel, and the smell of warm sugar drifts out to the courtyard even before you reach the door. The menu is built for people who treat dessert as a proper meal. We shared a Kyoto Holiday pancake stack loaded with matcha cream and fairy-floss wisps, followed by the Blonde Panookie, a skillet cookie that arrives still sizzling under a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The banoffee skillet was a close second favourite, thick with fresh banana and ribbons of toffee. To drink, the lychee-rose popping soda bursts like childhood in a glass and makes a neat palate reset between all that richness. Staff strike the right balance between friendly and efficient. Orders land quickly, water is topped up without prompting, and samples of house-made fudge appear the moment you look curious. Prices hover around the mid-teens for most desserts, which feels fair given the portion size and the obvious care in presentation. Extra points for staying open late; it is one of the few spots in Hobart where you can wind up the evening with something sweet and a good coffee.
Le G — Google review
It’s a simple space but absolutely delicious dessert. We went around 3pm for a dessert break and it was not crowded. Had the chocolate waffle and deconstructed banoffee. Both were decadent and might be a little heavy for mid afternoon. The black sesame latte (iced) is also a good try!
Mae N — Google review
I ordered the happy tummy (and yes that is what it is called) and for my drink I got a lychee rose popping soda they where both amazing and the drink had a unique taste. Would recommend! 😺
Marissa — Google review
Delicious dessert house with yummy croffles and great range of vegan desserts. We’re able to provide dairy free and nut free desserts suitable for allergies. It was so nice to eat out as a family, this is often a challenge with the range of food allergies. Love the free water, nice touch. I’ve been before and will certainly go back.
Mel — Google review
The desserts were yum but a tad bit overpriced. The drink was good but definitely overpriced!

Great place try the basque cheesecake it was amazing and gluten free too for Coeliac people. Special thanks to Elina (or Melinda?) who helped us out. It is a bit pricey for what im used to but the quality was great and cool vibe too
Kishin T — Google review
The cookie was amazing! Marshmallow, crunch, warm cookie and cold icecream. Service was unusual, we were the only people in the restaurant and she was insisting we chose a table before we could order. Seems unusual considering we were the only ones in the restaurant I’m sure it doesn’t change much haha. I would recommend sharing.
Samantha J — Google review
A lovely and sweet place after diner. We arrived near to closing time, but the staff was very friendly. They told us that some options couldn't be prepared given the time. However, what we ordered was prepared without haste and presented beautifully. They closed, but we were able to sit and enjoy our desserts. We felt like we were in such a friendly and welcoming home!

Nestled within the vibrant Westville Junction Shopping Centre, Waffle On Cafe is a delightful gem that promises an unforgettable culinary experience. This charming cafe specializes in mouthwatering waffles, offering unique flavors like chocolate and red velvet that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
I went here for brunch on a weekday since I've heard a lot of good reviews about this place. Their coffee was really good! And the waffle and chicken did not disappoint!! Serving was also quite huge, can be shared by two people. Service was great. There's a wall with a lot of posters about local events and programs which was a nice touch ✨
Abie R — Google review
Iced latte was great!, I asked for a vegan version of the tempura burger and it was ok. My partner ordered the chicken waffle and said it was the best one he has had so far. Staff were nice and friendly. Portions are just perfect for breakfast/brunch. They might be a little small if you are super hungry. There’s 2 sweet vegan options and 2 savoury! Overall experience was good! 😊

Incredible waffles and excellent atmosphere. We ordered the Banana & Bacon and the Jesse's Chicken Waffles which I would happily order again. Super crunchy chicken and bacon, and waffles were soft and delightful. Service by the barista was top notch also.

Date/time of visit: 17 Sep 2023 @ 11:00am A wonderful breakfast. I'm very fussy with my breakfasts, not want anything rich or heavy or filling and Waffle On Cafe delivered a beautiful, refreshing tastey meal. The waffles were fresh and soft, and the runny egg yolk flowed over the waffle pattern filling up the recesses wonderfully. This was one of my favourite breakfasts. Service was good. It didn't feel like the meal took too long to be served considering the freshness of the waffles. Price to quality trade off was great. Will happily return.

Had an amazing experience here at the Waffle On Cafe! Loved every minute! From the service from the staff, to the location and venue itself and to the amazing food! Can highly recommend eating breakfast here! The breakfast waffles are absolutely delicious! Light and fluffy and filled with flavour! The coffee also would have to be one of the best coffees I have had in Hobart! It is also very reasonable priced and can’t fault any aspect of the Waffle On Cafe! It is easily a 5/5 stars from me! :))
Haz F — Google review
Oooh boy! I know my waffles are at least I thought I did. Heavens to BETSY the lemon meringue waffles (with an extra waffle) was literally to die for! Coffee was solid, silky and the correct proportion of foam. Service was fast and the cafe was clean and presentable. We ordered maple syrup on the side (didn’t need it. I ended up tipping the maple into my coffee) My wife and I will be back and eager to try some more of the menu options. 10/10

When we were looking for a brunch spot in Hobart, we came across Waffle On Cafe. We got there a few minutes before they opened and there was already a big group waiting. We got the traditional brussels waffle with vanilla ice cream, chantilly cream and syrup + flat whites. The waffle was fluffy and had a great texture. Paired with the accoutrements, it wasn't too sweet and overall a great brunch sweet treat. All the waffles have gluten-free options, which is great if you have food specificities. The coffee was also great as they used beans from Botero coffee roasters. The restaurant itself seems to be popular. So we recommend to come a little early to enjoy their waffles.
Kara W — Google review
It’s a good mix of savoury on a waffle instead of the usual bread. They ran out of salmon for the day. I’m sure it would look beautiful and delicious on the plate. Definitely a go to for big breakfast. When u get coffee ask them for a mug , cos u would really wanna enjoy the breakfast .

Pigeon Hole is a charming brunch spot located in the serene streets of West Hobart. The cafe prides itself on using locally sourced produce from its own farm, Weston Farm, providing customers with a genuine paddock-to-plate experience. The menu features a variety of options including vegan dishes and is complemented by a selection of local wine, beer, and cider. Guests can also purchase award-winning produce from Weston Farm at the counter.
Love Pigeon Hole! It’s a fantastic spot to enjoy a weekend brunch with family or a relaxed weekday meal solo. While it’s not cheap, the prices feel spot on for the quality. We always leave feeling like we’ve had good value for money. The food is mostly sourced from their own paddocks, and you can truly taste the freshness. My go-to is usually the omelette, but there are plenty of great options, and they regularly update their specials. My wife and I consider it our favourite brunch spot in Hobart.

What an absolutely fantastic dining experience! Pigeon Hole in Hobart, Tasmania exceeded all our expectations😍. We were searching for comfort food that would truly satisfy, and this was precisely the right place 🤩. Every dish we tried was delicious - we found ourselves delighted with each new plate that arrived at our table. The soup was phenomenal, warming and flavorful. The burritos were incredible too! In fact, everything we ordered hit the perfect note of comfort and quality.🥳 Pigeon Hole is known for being a charming café that focuses on locally-sourced ingredients and artisanal food. They have a reputation for excellent coffee, fresh-baked bread, and a seasonal menu that showcases Tasmanian produce. The cozy, intimate atmosphere adds to the welcoming experience.🥰 The café embodies the farm-to-table philosophy that Tasmania is becoming renowned for, with ingredients often coming from their own farm. Their commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in every bite. 😍😍😍😍 If you're in Hobart and looking for a memorable meal that combines comfort with culinary excellence, Pigeon Hole is a must-visit destination.😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

The best sourdough bread I have eaten so far. Great food and what attracts even more is their farm to table fresh produces. They had the best homemade mixed berry jam too. Great food combined with excellent service it was and Pigeon Hole Hobart will have a special place in my heart 😍💝
Priya R — Google review
Searched for ‘Pigeon Whole’ but navigation took me here, the ‘Pigeon Hole’. The mistake turns out to be a surprise. The vibe is barn like. Started with soup of the day (on that day was green pea an and something) with sour dough. It was absolutely delicious. Can tell the beans are very fresh. Coffee is great, too. Beans are from Villino. Then tried their toasted wrap with scrambled egg and bacon, hands off. I normally hate pickle but that little touch of pickle on the plate really made sense. And I heard some ‘funny’ stories abt their names with ‘hole and whole’ it was quite funny, too.
Shawn Q — Google review
Food is very fresh and tasty. The pear & chocolate muffin wasn't your typical muffin shape, I'd say an 'ugly/uneven shaped one but was devine! Highly recommend Pigeon Hole!!!
Cristian C — Google review
Met up with a friend at Pigeon Hole because some people recommended this place. Very friendly people here and the food was delicious. We got the eggs benedict with bacon and one of the specials. Coffee was okay but not strong enough to my taste.
Sydney T — Google review
We spent three days in Hobart, and our first meal was at Pigeonhole. Initially, we didn't expect much, but by our last day, we found ourselves coming back. The service was fabulous, and the food unlike anything we've had in Melbourne, was unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back the next time we miss this town.
J L — Google review
A cozy place with nice atmosphere. Good portion of food, and very nice coffee! The sourdough was a little bit too hard and dry, but overall the meal was tasty, especially recommend the mushroom omelette!

Straight Up Coffee and Food is a casual café in Hobart that offers an entirely gluten-free and vegetarian menu. The café has a relaxed 90s vibe with diner-style chairs and friendly Tassie service. They are known for their sweet corn fritter waffle and scrambled chili tofu with garlic betty white toast, which are popular among both vegans and non-vegans.
Love, love, love this place! The food is fabulous, the staff are lovely and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfy. Added bonus is that everything is gluten free and vegetarian! How good is that!! We enjoyed a delicious kimchi and cheese toastie, and a greens bowl washed down with good coffee and a yummy dandelion latte on almond milk. Got a yummy loaf of GF bread to take home too. Highly highly recommended.
Frances C — Google review
Was looking for a cafe with vegetarian and gluten free options to eat. This was a golden find. Everything was delicious. We had roasted tomato soup. ( I think there was beetroot in there, which was not mentioned, not a big fan of beetroot, but it was tasty nevertheless) Had The Madam and The Greens The prana chai was too milky. Didn't expect it that way. But it was delicious so we finished off everything from the plates and cups :) The staff were friendly and attentive Metered Street Parking available.

An absolutely delicious gluten free cafe - you wouldn’t even know it’s entirely gluten free! Very delicious, freshly made food! Very lovely staff. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Tassie, as well as people with allergens.

Straight-Up is centrally located, diagonally across from Shamrock hotel. It serves vegetarian food with several vegan options. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home. They make inhouse a vegan ice cream. The food overall is good. Come early as they close at 230pm. We spent AUD 85 for 2 pax.

Everything was gluten free… amazing! I had carrot cake, which was absolutely delicious, and a tasty smoothie. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Though small, the cafe was cozy with a variety of seating options.
Emily R — Google review
This is absolutely the best place to have breakfast or lunch if you need gluten free. I ate here every day when I was visiting Hobart. The staff are friendly and there is a huge selection of gluten free treats, including donuts, pretzels and cheese bread. Get there early when the display case is full.

Loved this little gem! Was beyond happy to find a totally gluten free cafe in Hobart and the food was just so good! The cornbread is amazing and will be heading back for another pretzel and donut for sure.

What a delightful little cafe! They make their own almond milk and everything on their menu is gluten free, including breads and pastries. So impressed! The corn bread is delicious and so is the brekkie Burger. Not sure how they do the silky egg, but it tastes fantastic!

Westside Laundry is a trendy cafe that opened in 2024, located in an old laundromat with a fabulous interior design. The place offers delicious food and great coffee, with the only suggestion being to add a platter option for those who prefer less bread. Visitors praise the amazing sandwiches and friendly service, recommending the Morty Sandwich and highlighting the incredible coffee. It's described as having a cool setup and attentive service, making it worth supporting this new establishment.
Westside Laundry was our absolute favourite stop during our trip to Hobart. The food was delicious, and we highly recommend trying their special. We were lucky enough to get the southern fried steak, which was our favourite yet. A special shoutout to the staff, who made each visit so enjoyable. We loved the banter, atmosphere, and the delicious food.
Roy R — Google review
If In Hobart, this place IS A MUST. The food was AMAZING! Very generous portions and great quality - I personally recommend the croquettes, even though everything else on that menu was to die for. The cherry on top would be the most kind and friendly staff + a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.
Naiara M — Google review
Amazing atmosphere! The sandwiches were so flavoursome and the drinks were excellent! Seating was a little tight, but even on crutches I was able to manouver through the space easily enough. Everyone working there was professional, in a laid back effortless kind of way. I will 100% be coming back to try the rest of the menu!

We were staying nearby and discovered this little gem. Cool art and love the fact they honoured the original laundromat throughout! Great food and coffee and enjoyed a cocktail pre dinner. What we loved most was the service and friendliness of the staff.
Gaye L — Google review
My partner and I visited Westside Laundry while on our trip to Hobart last week. We were both blown away by the very friendly service (particularly from the lovely waitress), chilled atmosphere, charming decor and delicious food. The sandwiches at this place are to die for and we will absolutely be back!
Caity T — Google review
From the outside, this spot might not catch your eye – but don’t be fooled. Behind the simple façade is one of Hobart’s true hidden gems. Their sandwiches are hands-down some of the best you’ll find in the city. We went for the veggie options and loved every bite, with the egg sandwich quickly becoming our favourite – so much flavour and such great value for the price. A special mention goes to the waitress, who always greets us with infectious energy and her signature funny salutes – she makes every visit feel extra welcoming. This place might look unassuming, but once you step inside, you’ll discover a local treasure.
Flor C — Google review
The Westside Laundry cafe may be small in size, but it more than makes up for it with character and charm. The unique décor creates a cosy and inviting atmosphere, making it an enjoyable place to spend time. The Swartz is exceptionally juicy and full of flavour, the coffee is brewed to perfection, and the service provided by the owner is outstanding, warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. This is a place worth returning to, and I look forward to coming back soon!
Denni A — Google review
You’ll find this is in fact NOT a laundry. A culinary experience awaits you in this cosy little cafe where the coffee makes you kick your head and twiddle your toes. The sandwich selection is short and refined to perfection. The first bite is crispy but fluffy, saucy but smoky, and the second bite is even better. Clean up with a churro beyond your tastebuds comprehension it’s sweet its fluffy is crunchy it the next step to enlightenment 🙏

Brunch at Erda is a delightful experience in a cozy 40-seat neighborhood cafe with an inviting aesthetic. The food offers a fine dining experience without the need to dress up or break the bank. The menu includes unique dishes like Gallette complete and Chasu Soba, made to perfection with attention to detail. The airy and bright space is perfect for enjoying dishes like Honey butter toast and Omurice with grilled beef.
This dish was an absolute comfort delight. The omurice came with perfectly seasoned tomato rice wrapped in a soft, creamy omelette that melted in the mouth. The highlight was the rich demi-glace sauce—deep, flavorful, and not overly salty—which brought the whole dish together. The beef slices were tender and generously portioned, adding a hearty balance to the smooth egg and rice. Everything was beautifully plated and satisfying without being too heavy. 🍽️ A well-executed fusion of Western-style sauce and Japanese comfort food—definitely a must-try if you’re visiting Erda. Would order again!

Came here specifically to try the brioche toast after seeing it online! It really didn’t disappoint! It’s so delicious sweet and decadent! It’s also a huge serving so definitely made to share as the whole thing can become a bit too sweet! Coffee is alright here, but not the best.

Went in at 8am and told the staff we were in a rush. They assured us the food will come out in 10 minutes and it really did. Thank you!! 🥰 Came here specially for Blue Sky. But the food looks so good too, so we got the crepe and omu rice. Would’ve gotten the honey butter toast too if we weren’t in a rush. Everything’s yummy and pretty 💯 Oh and they have drinks called Blue Sky and Dark Clouds. I think it’s very creative and tempted me to open my own café so I can sell pretty drinks too.

The buckwheat crepe with Wursthaus ham was probably the best thing I have eaten in 2025. The balance of flavours, great texture and a lovely hint of Gruyere cheese and truffle. Was surprisingly busy for a cafe on a Monday mid-morning however the staff coped effortlessly and with a smile. Will definitely go back for the crepe.

Fantastic, we’re in Hobart for the weekend and attended twice as we loved the food so much. Had the Omurice with the beef, I could drink that Demi glacé straight! And we loved the honey butter toast, perfect crunch from the honey and the blueberry compote with mascarpone was a perfect topper yummm. Will definitely be back next time we are in Hobart

Excellent vibes and beautiful service. Food was unbelievably good - tomato omurice with sautéed greens - 9.5/10, rice was full of umami flavour covered by a soft egg. The omurice sauce was rich and peppery. - chashu soba - 9.5/10, fresh, flavourful, appetizing, perfect balance between ingredients For drinks we got the blue sky and dark cloud which were not only delicious but so aesthetic.

We saw the reviews and thought it was worth a visit. Coffee was nice, however after waiting 45min for food we discovered they never put our order through, so we went to the counter and pointed to food in the front cabinet to go with our coffees when we paid (which really should have been free due to the stuff up and waiting for nothing), and our food order wasn't put through again even though we pointed to it. The male gentleman with glasses was polite, but asleep on the job doesn't cut it, sorry. Really a very, very disappointing experience.

We frequented Leoht on our recent trip to Hobart. By the end of our visit we felt like locals! The staff were so lovely and the food and coffee were a very high standard. It is in a gorgeous area and we loved everything about it! Definitely give this place a try-you won’t regret it!

The kind of place I’d eat breakfast at every single day if I could - and I did, every day of my Hobart holiday. Nourishing, delicious dishes using the best local, in-season produce, served in a beautiful, light-filled and welcoming space. I can’t wait to return and tick off the rest of the menu!

This is a beautiful, bright, and elegant café with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally friendly, leaving a lasting impression. The coffee is absolutely delicious, smooth, and aromatic, making every sip a delight. However, while the coffee left me thoroughly impressed, the food didn’t quite suit my taste, so I didn’t manage to finish everything on my plate. Despite this, the excellent coffee and service would definitely bring me back for another visit, hoping to have a better food experience next time.

Smoothie was delicious. Big breakfast was good but missing greens. It was very busy when I went so I felt like I couldn’t relax (there was only one server and another person doing coffee). Otherwise it’s a nice place.

These guys know what they’re doing - all the staff were very good with their knowledge of allergens, and ensure I ate safely, providing me with plenty coeliac safe options. Delicious, fresh seafood and food in general. Lovely service and a pleasant atmosphere. Recommend.

This waterfront restaurant and fishmonger is one of many seafood places in the area. Mostly catering for tourist trade but also locals. The space is clean and bright with a drinks counter, food counter and fresh seafood counter. There are some great art works. The food is generous though the fisherman’s basket I had was very heavy on the chips. A nice place to eat with lovely views.

Lively atmosphere, but that’s the visitors, then you struggle to find a table to sit. So you: 1. Wait in line to order food 2. Wait in another line to order drink 3. Struggle finding a place to sit 4. Receive your order and it looks like this… ($33), and the sauce that is included is the public ketchup on the table. *The fish is fresh but even the preparation is not delivering the expectation. I saw someone order mussels that looked proper, also for the price so maybe try that (though they did keep adding salt and pepper). So sorry to leave such a strong negative review. I felt that it was necessary. Was really looking forward to the meal and left feeling scammed.

VERY popular fish and chip restaurant and takeaway and rightly so! Bit of a wait which was helped by the midday beersies 🍻but was worth it. Delish!! Suggest requesting a higher specialty fish rather than the ‘go/to’ it was a bit like NZ hoki. Highly recommend a visit if you are on the Hobart waterfront 🎣🐠

Fast food done well. I don't normally like fish but this was worth the trip. Fresh and beautifully cooked. Watch out for the hungry seagulls outside... They're a menace because they know the food is good too🥴

Great spot down by the waterfront in Hobart. We have been here before. The servings are big, we shared a single serve of fish and chips. They had obviously been quite busy as there were a lot of tables that had not been cleared. Short walk from where we were staying, but plenty of parking.

Very under whelmed, the food is just ok at best. We booked to go here for an early dinner on a Monday night, and looked forward to it all day. The food wasn't great and the main meal we were looking forward to they said it had all "run out" (our booking was at 6 so not sure why they would run out of food by 6pm). Our local fish n chip shop on the mainland is much better.

Mures has a casual bistro downstairs, a fancier restaurant upstairs, an ice cream parlour, a bar, indoor and outdoor seating, a great view of the water, tons of seafood options as well as some non seafood offerings, ramps at multiple entrances, and a lift to the upper floor. When I was there staff was very helpful and friendly. My only real complaint is even the casual bistro prices are quite high but I think you pay for the atmosphere and variety of options.

Co-founders Chris Jackman and Nerida and Justin McRoss personally renovated the 19th-century building in just five weeks. The bakery offers a relaxed atmosphere and an inviting layout where visitors can enjoy homemade pies, pastries, breads made entirely from scratch using the finest local ingredients.
Hobart must-visit for pie lovers! It is is a true gem tucked into the charming streets of Battery Point. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by the aroma of freshly baked pastries and a cabinet full of tempting treats. I tried one of their pies and it was absolutely excellent—flaky, golden pastry with a rich, flavorful filling that hit all the right notes. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and efficient even during busy hours. Whether you're after a quick bite or a leisurely brunch, this bakery delivers on quality and charm. Highly recommend!

Had the scallop pie here and it was absolutely delicious – rich, fresh and perfectly baked. The coffee was also excellent and paired so well with it. The staff were really thoughtful and kind, even helping us cut the pie into two since we were sharing. Such a nice touch that made the experience even better. We also saw a rainbow while dining here :)

Service was on point - everyone was incredibly friendly. We were greeted by several staff members, which made the experience even better. It was a pleasant surprise to have table service at a bakery! We had a couple of coffees (and wow, they know how to make a great one). The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed! I ordered the Scallop Pie, which by the way comes highly recommended from many other review sites and 'Lap of Tasmania, so I was expecting it to be favourable. The pie looks good, it was nicely presented, but I struggled to taste a Scallop anywhere with each mouthful. In all, I sadly only found 4 x Scallops in the pie...The rest were mouthfuls of pastry and filling. On speaking afterwards with a steward, who by the way was very understanding, he commented that they should have a minimum of at least 5x Scallops in each pie....really? I'm sorry, but I had my first Scallop pie at the 'Port Arthur Historic Site' on the weekend . It was a 'Smiths' Scallop pie and I could taste Scallops with every mouthful. Other than that the coffee was good. I gave 1 x more star for the service, as it was good also.

Average experience here, coffee was a disappointment, decaf is a no go and normal was alright. The pies are great but the rosti lacked seasoning and was a bit bland. This place has potential but needs improvement. Also there is a price difference between eat in and take out between .50c -$4 , to eat in is more expensive?

Wow, wow and wow. This Bakery was recommended to us and we are so glad we took the time to find it and enjoy breakfast there this morning. The location is literally out of this world, it's like you have been transported to another moment in time. I enjoyed the beef and red wine pie, my wife had the goats cheese, caramelised onion, sundried tomatoes and spinach Danish. We also indulged in the custard tart. We are not exaggerating when we say this food was absolutely delectable and this is the benchmark for the quality of food! Never had anything close to these flavours and quality.

This is a local favourite with high quality cakes, breads, coffee pies and savouries. There are some outdoor tables but indoors is the main place for diners. The location in Battery Point is on a very picturesque and historic street and a truly delightful location. Located on Elizabeth Street Pier in Hobart, Fish Frenzy is a popular eatery known for its delicious fish and chips, grilled seafood options, and stunning views of the picturesque marina. The restaurant offers famous seafood chowder and Pier Platter selections, providing a delightful dining experience. Additionally, the waterfront city of Hobart boasts other notable seafood restaurants such as Mures Lower Deck and Flippers.
Great fish and chips. We ordered beer battered flake, three calamari and chips. It was enough to share, as we’d sampled some food at the nearby markets. There is seating inside and outside the eatery. They are licensed and also provide self service bottles of water and cups. The calamari was excellent and the tartare sauce was included in the price.
GetUsThereAlready — Google review
Ordered the flake and the salt and pepper calamari. The calamari were good. Above average and satisfying but not mind blowing. Greek salad was fresh and delicious as well, a good addition to the meal. However, the flake was a standout. A real light but also "meaty" taste with a gentle ocean flavour that wasn't overly salty. Served as 2 steaks that were cooked perfectly and fell apart while eating. Ordered with the beer batter which was very light and not like a thick "dagwood dog" style batter Chips were also above average, not greasy and sickening but once again, not mind blowing but plentiful in each serve. Friends said their oysters were fantastic. Fresh flavour with the perfect consistency though they do admit that June is the right time of year to eat them. Staff are very friendly and helpful when ordering and tartare sauce is free, unlike a lot of modern restaurants. Sauce is also light and tangy and not overly creamy. Price is a bit on the steep side but they literally have a restaurant sticking out of the ocean and their food is very well made. I would recommend a visit if you're after a fish meal that won't leave you feeling an Exxon Valdez spill.

First time coming here but had wanted to try them for quite awhile. It was busy but managed to get a table. Decided on the two pieces of flake and chips which came to just over $30. Ordering was easy enough and didn't have to wait too long considering the amount if people they were busy with. The fish were juicy thick pieces and the chips were delicious. Nothing to go crazy over but certainly not a let down.

The prawns were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. I genuinely loved them, and they were the highlight of my meal. The fish were tasty too. The staff service was average, but I would not call it poor. The lady serving us seemed a little uninterested or tired, though that is understandable. Everyone can have a bad day, and the place was extremely busy when we visited. The wait time for our order was slightly longer than expected, but again, considering how crowded it was, it made sense. The location is excellent, right on the waterfront with easy access and beautiful views.
Alvin K — Google review
This place was tucked away on the side of one of the piers which is currently undergoing some renovations. We had been told good things so we were excited to try it out. Everything was absolutely beautiful - chips were fried to perfection with a light golden brown crust. Top them off with copious amounts of salt and vinegar and you are set. Kids enjoyed the fish & chips and calamari & chips also which they sometimes won't eat....they scoffed the whole thing here. I often complain to my other half when we get fish and chips out and about. I'm Irish so I grew up with good fish and chips by the beach. This is only the second time in 14 years in Australia have I said wow that's just like home 👏 we will definitely be back on our trip and future trips.
Ryan W — Google review
The fish and chips at this Hobart waterfront gem are exceptional—fresh, yummy, and perfectly cooked. We sampled all three menu options: mixed fish, flake, and the fish of the day, Pink Ling. The flake stood out as the best, especially for Asian tastebuds, with its mild, non-fishy flavor and delicious texture. The crumbed calamari was a highlight—soft inside, crispy outside, and simply divine. Eating by the waterfront, basking in the vibrant atmosphere and pleasant weather, made the experience unforgettable!

The pork and fennel sausage roll is honestly so good. The flavors are spot on, the pastry is golden and flaky, and you can tell a lot of care went into making it. On top of that, the way it’s presented makes it feel extra special – it looks just as good as it tastes.

Have walked passed so many times but never at the right times. So last weekend I planned it better and went here for breakfast. Very cute interior and the staff is super friendly and efficient. The coffee is good and I loved the menu with all dishes including local ingredients..so hard to choose. I went with the mushroom baked eggs and it waa divine. The cakes and pastries looked great too and I could have sat there all day eating my way through it all..but that will be for another day as I will definitely come back.

A posh cafe in Hobart, we sat here to have breakfast before heading to Port Arthur. They tick all the boxes for me, from the interior which they put a lot of effort on to look really beautiful. I had the chicken creamed leek taragon pie and boy it was a real treat, so creamy, so tasty and I enjoyed every mouthful. Hubby had the butternut pumpkin fritta and he loved it. I got the almond croissant to go and man it was so delicious, dense, not too oily and perfect amount of filling. The soy chai latte was perfectly creamy. I loved this place. It is clean, quiet and the staff are friendly and courteous. 5 stars all the way.

This spot is truly a hidden treasure. At first glance, it may not seem like much, but the food and service are exceptional. It’s no surprise that it’s always buzzing with breakfast patrons—the quality of both the dishes and service is outstanding. During our four-night stay in Hobart, we found ourselves enjoying breakfast and dinner here on three consecutive days. The pancakes were delightful, and the fruit salad paired with yogurt and honey was equally good. We also loved the hearty big breakfast. Awesome coffee too. For dinner, we indulged in the spaghetti al vongole, veal cotoletta, spaghetti marinara, and Italian meatballs—each dish bursting with authentic Italian flavor. It was a fantastic experience! A special thanks to Grace, who took care of us during breakfast, and young Valeria, who served us at dinner. Both were incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. 🌸🩷

We dropped into Room for a Pony on our last night in Tasmania and couldn’t have picked a better spot to finish our trip. We ordered a couple of wood-fired pizzas – the Margherita and the Pepperoni – and both were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and just the right amount to satisfy myself, my wife, and our daughter. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were genuinely lovely. I was especially impressed by the bar staff – the guy working the bar gave me some great Tassie beer recommendations, and the Spotty Dog beer hit the spot perfectly. My wife really enjoyed her mulled wine too – just what we needed on a cold Tassie night. What really stood out was the friendly service – the guy who served us even gave us a few tips on things to see and do while we’re in town, which we really appreciated. If we were staying longer, we’d absolutely be back. Highly recommend!

Beautifully lit room with lots of natural lighting . Lots of seats available but we were lucky we got a table for our party of 8 without a booking. Very interesting menu with Tasmanian produce featured. They octopus and nduja scrambled eggs were amazing, uniquely Tassie! Had a lovely brunch at Born in Brunswick! The corn & kale fritters were packed with flavor and perfectly balanced, and the French toast was an absolute standout, rich, indulgent, and beautifully plated. The vibe of the place is relaxed and inviting, with a great atmosphere for a slow morning meal. The only thing that threw me off a bit was not being able to tell who was waitressing, there didn’t seem to be a uniform or dress code, so I wasn’t sure who to ask when I needed something, I asked someone for water and was totally mistaken, so embarrassing. Otherwise, a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back!

Quite a good breakfast place in the area. The atmosphere is perfect for the type of food. Service is quite good too. Fried chicken burger is great. Slaw cuts the heat quite well. Would love an option to add hot chippies. Truffle croque madame is nice too, but I think it’s just truffle oil than real truffle which is fair enough for the price. Tiramisu French toast is quite ok. Toast is crunchy on the outside but still soft. Can’t taste much coffee which is weird since it’s overflowing a bit. Sweetness will vary on your tolerance. Overall, recommended for breakfast!

Born in Brunswick – North Hobart Born in Brunswick is a standout café with a relaxed open-plan layout that gives you a glimpse into the bustling kitchen. There are various seating options, including cosy window seats perfect for watching the world go by. The menu is superb, beautifully presented, high-end food without the hefty price tag. And the coffee? Easily rivals the best of the best. A must-visit if you’re in Hobart! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We accidentally stumbled across this beautiful spot and have been back 3 times since. Every time, the food and drinks have been delicious. This is our new favourite family breakfast spot. My children LOVE the pancakes, and they've tried alot of the years. Great spot, would highly recommend trying.

Nestled in a charming pedestrian lane known as Collins Court, Dandy Lane Cafe is truly a hidden gem in Hobart's vibrant CBD. This laid-back spot offers an all-day brunch menu that caters to every craving, from classic poached eggs on toast to indulgent Elvis waffles topped with banana and peanut butter semifreddo. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, enhanced by the friendly staff who embody the warmth of Tasmanian hospitality.
Immediately upon seeing the menu I couldn't go past the fried chicken benny (a combination that I haven't seen often and should probably be banned for invalidating other breakfast choices). My partner ordered the Dandy rosti with bacon. Both were excellent, as were the coffees. Highly recommend.
Travis B — Google review
Great food, service and coffee! Came out very quickly. Atmosphere was quiet enough to talk to others with ease.

What a surprise and delight… a cute breakfast at dandy lane cafe that was a surprise and delight! The flavours were incredible, the service was attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommend!
Lisa B — Google review
Friendly and warm service, cute vibes, and the most refreshingly generous portions! I ordered a full size avo with a side of bacon and I can say without exaggeration that this was the best value meal I had during my stay in Hobart. Delicious and hot and filling. Really lovely place to drink a coffee and plan the day ahead. So glad I stopped by!
Elle O — Google review
Great food! Instructed to make a few subtractions from the burger which they didn’t. Rest, service was good!
Vidhi N — Google review
Rosti was passable, a bit dense. The Dutch pancake was not great; the inside of the pancake was too custard-like and dense instead of fluffy. Coffee was average too.
Joshua M — Google review
Hidden gem in the lane! I regret not orderimg the same mushroom sandwich asmy husband. I had a taste and it was delicious! Very clean taste, simple and healthy. My order was not a regret though, the cheese cake was perfectly splendid. The place is clean, staff are friendly, place is cosy and interesting interior design. Their soy chai latte is perfectly spiced too, we had a great time dining in.

Parklane Espresso is a small, unassuming coffee shop located in a corridor near Salamanca Square car park. Despite its size, it attracts a steady stream of customers, particularly local workers seeking their morning caffeine fix. The shop offers its own brand of bottled Indian chai and serves as a niche provider of premium coffee and brunch staples. Visitors can expect quality coffee and a modest food menu at this hidden gem in Hobart's historical Salamanca Square.
Parklane Espresso serves some of the best coffee in Tasmania. The service is friendly, and my order was taken by a charming little girl ~ Looks like it is a family business. The quality of the coffee is outstanding, making it a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing coffee break. not to add too much sugar to the coffee, I think max is 1 sugar for a large coffee, else it is too sweet. Highly recommend.

Very nice service and friendly staff. Was excellent cappuccino. It is centrally located at Salamanca place, and nice area to chill
Sebastian C — Google review

Gabriel V — Google review
I was expecting better from all the super reviews. Coffee was good but not great, I had a cappuccino and coffee was not the main feature, too milky which surprised me as we had it in (the beautiful pottery) dine in cups. Pistachio & cranberry biscuit was very nice. Prompt & friendly service.
Matthew M — Google review
One of the best cheese toasties I’ve had EVER. Perfect amount of crunch and cheesiness. I especially loved the added flavour of the chilly jam!
Jessica R — Google review
Coffee was not okay but not great. Regular Almond latte is $6 not worth of money and taste. Front staff should be more welcoming for multicultural people.
Moz H — Google review
Great coffee; had a pourover and a cappuccino - to expectations! The apple cinnamon muffin was freshly baked with generous fillings! Location: located within the uni, and a short walk from Salamanca. Overall thumbs up!

A great ice coffee here. You can smell the aroma as you walk through the door. So good I come all the way from Melbourne for a refill. Made with a real shot of quality fresh espresso and topped with icecream and milk just how I like it. And there are some tasty sweet treats available to go with it. 😊

I quiet little cafe tucked away in a corner. Great location, but doesn’t allow for big groups. Perfect spot for 2 friends to catch up. The food was great, just took a little longer to come out. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to try the waffles next time.

Absolutely delicious breakfast. The hollandaise sauce was spot-on perfect! The savoury waffle is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The house-made pesto, like the hollandaise, was perfect. Coffee....superb. Service was super friendly and just what sets the day up for our first visit to Hobart. (Chef) Hats off to your Cafè.

Had such a lovely time at Picnic Café! The outdoor seating area is bright and relaxing, perfect for enjoying the sunshine. Hamlet Hobart Cafe is more than just a coffee spot at the entrance of Hobart's rivulet walking track. It aims to empower underrepresented Tasmanians in the hospitality industry, fostering skills and community through cafe and kitchen skills programs. The cafe offers delicious dishes made with fresh local flavors and employs people with disabilities, providing a brunch experience with a conscience.
Wow! What an amazing cafe located in Hobart that sells the most amazing pies I’ve ever had! They had scallop pies?! And it was absolutely delicious! We also ordered their sausage rolls and beef pie which tasted so freshly made and heart warming. You definitely need to visit this cafe if you’re in the area!

Nestled at the entrance of the scenic rivulet track, Hamlet Cafe in Hobart is a true delight. The oat latte I had was exceptional, complemented by the warm and inviting atmosphere inside. The staff's friendliness added to the charm of the place. The seasonal and fresh lamb dish with yogurt and pickles was a culinary masterpiece. The coffee? Excellent. Don't miss out on the tempting desserts and treats. On a chilly day, snag a seat by the cozy fireplace for added comfort. Hamlet Cafe is a must-visit for quality coffee, delicious food, and a welcoming vibe that feels like a warm hug. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.❤️🥶🤌🏼 Alex

Whenever I'm in Hobart, I make sure to stop in for lunch at Hamlet Cafe. The staff are welcoming and clearly proud of their establishment. The food is always seasonal and fresh. This visit, I had the lamb with yogurt and pickles 🤌🏼. The coffee is excellent, and the desserts and treats are good too. If you visit on a cold winter day, try to get a seat next to the fire 🥶

Stumbled across this excellent cafe and social enterprise. The food is exceptional! I've eaten a delicious delicate omelette filled with ricotta and greens, simply melt in the mouth. Today i tried the delicious green tomatoes with straciatelli soft cheese, anchovies and herbs. Good coffee, friendly service and a fireplace for the winter. Happy days!

There are vegetarian and glutton free meals. Staffs are friendly and the dinning area is spacious. Good for grabbing a coffee or seat reading or working However, there aren’t many options on the menu. Some old menu dishes are no longer served. For the price, would appreciate if the meal is in better portion or more variety of ingredients.

This vibrant bar features an impressive selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits sourced from small producers and artisanal distillers. With a lively atmosphere that buzzes year-round, guests can enjoy everything from refreshing cocktails during happy hour to engaging live music performances.
Cozy vibe of chilling, I sit on outdoor space with a heating fire makes you feel comfy. Come to the place from 5-7pm you get happy hour for Tassie lager beer at 9$. Food serve in big portion, recommend the Chicken parmi. If you pair with drink, it charges only 10$. Worth a visit as they have live music as well

We visited last night and had a less-than-ideal experience. Upon arrival, we were shown to a table that hadn't been wiped down—there were still crumbs and marks. We had to clean it ourselves using baby wipes, which wasn't what we expected. Additionally, one of our glasses was dirty, and we only noticed after we had already started drinking. We ordered three burgers, and while two arrived at the same time, the third took almost 10 minutes longer. One of the burgers was requested with shallots on the side, but it was served with them mixed in, which could have been problematic had we had an allergy. We were disappointed with both the quality of service and the value for money, especially considering the nice location.
Giulia B — Google review
The really good value $10 family got me in but the amazing bar staff is why I'm giving it a great review. The young man and woman bar staff were so friendly and professional! $12 martin's too. I highly recommend!

Service was great good sense of humor and wasn’t just a robot anyway the food was good for 10$ parmas what’s an absolute steal. I would say the Parma could have had more cheese, a better sauce and it was on the chips anyway over good size for $10 was pretty happy. Atmosphere was not to bad just the booths were dirty I will be back for more Parmas.

Great spot on a chilly evening in Hobart to sip on a couple of delicious cocktails in the outdoor gazebo area sitting beside an open fire... very nice! Unfortunately we didnt have enough time to stay and order any of the tempting deliciousness that was on offer in the menu but service and staff were exceptional. A must visit next time!
DereknMaree K — Google review
Not much variety on menu (all fried )and food is edible but I've also had better microwave meals. Went with a group and huge gap between meals coming out despite it not being busy.
Danielle H — Google review
Amazing ambiance and drinks! Menu has many different options for food- unfortunately didnt get to try any as the kitchen was closed. I ended up trying the salted caramel espresso martini and it was so delicious I had to order another! The ambiance is so amazing- music, decor, and fireplace really seals the deal. Highly recommend visiting here for a few drinks and a relaxing night just to socialize and hang out with good drinks!
Khushi K — Google review
I’d like to express my disappointment with the customer service during our recent visit. A waitress named Georgia was aggressive and rude, which made the experience unpleasant. Rather than being helpful, her attitude was far from welcoming. Additionally, we were attending a private function, but people from outside the event were allowed to intrude, making guests feel uncomfortable. The staff seemed indifferent and made no effort to manage the situation or ensure our privacy.

What a lovely spot for breakfast/brunch! Such amazing service - loved our server, she was a vibe 🙌 The eggs benedict over potato cheese rosti was one of the best we had on our entire trip and set the tone for the day. Big fan of the eats coming out of the kitchen. They also do juices really well! Great spot.

Came here for lunch to catch up with my friends. We were 2 families with 4 adults and 4 kids. Food was delicious and portions were generous. Service was also friendly and the space was warm but also spacious. I had their lamb dish with chips and salad. Flavoursome and polished everything on the plate. Will be back again when in Hobart. Definitely come here if you want a good feed and drinks.

Came for bottomless brunch at 12:30. Waited until 13:20 to receive food. Tenders were from a packet, soggy, chips were cold and soggy. Don’t get me wrong drinks were great. Waited ages for the food and ages for the drinks. Staff were busy, probably need to get more staff on for bigger bookings. Really disappointed with the food. Won’t be back.

OMG! The Mexican Fried Eggs were the best breakfast I’ve had in a VERY long time. Sorry, this post came after two bites.

Everything was so good, it’s hard to pick one to talk about. I’ve had a lot of sashimi and cured fish, in and out of Japan, and trust me you’ll wanna taste the cured king fish from here. The oysters were very lovely. Meat was tender and very filling for mains. Desert was an experience in itself, sticky, sweet, burnt, tangy and fresh all in the one mouthful. We left very satisfied. Staff were amazing and atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!

Somewhere Coffee Bar, located in Midtown Hobart, is renowned for its exacting standards and passion for coffee. The owner, Brian Lam, meticulously oversees every aspect of the cafe's offerings, from the drinkware to sourcing single origin beans from global roasteries. The menu is refreshingly simple and occasionally features coffee-tasting events.
I absolutely enjoyed my coffee experience at this small cafe. The owner is very knowledgeable and was very patient in explaining how each coffee bean tastes and the origin of the bean. I ordered the batch brew (syphon brew), it was very satisfying watching the coffee being brewed in front of me. The coffee pairs well with a sea salt & leatherwood honey croissant.

Wowsers - felt like I stepped straight into a modern coffee shop in Japan! I love this place! 😍 The coffee cannot be faulted - tastes superb and prepared with attention. Stunning service. Don't skip the basque cheese cake - arguably the best in Australia, not sweet at all and just burnt enough. If you give this place a miss you only have yourself to blame. Run here, don't walk!

Quite the find. Precision dosing, wonderful little setup, siphon for filter. Mahlkonic grinders of course. Pillar coffee the day I was there. Ordered a batch brew, but can assure you this place is precise and on point. Highly recommend you take a look.

One of the best coffee i ever had, tho it’s also the most expensive coffee i ever paid. $7.80 for small oat latte. I am cafe manager and barista for a very long time, and i really enjoyed the coffee. The vibe of the cafe very peaceful and calm. The milk very smooth. Recommended

The owner is a true coffee expert and a really friendly guy. He chatted with us about the beans and explained the flavour profile. We tried the latte, a One Plus One, and the Magic, and all three were top-tier.

A fantastic spot for specialty coffee lovers. I ordered a Siphon pour-over, which was as much a visual experience as a tasting one. The barista was super knowledgeable and friendly in explaining both the brewing process and tasting techniques.
