Nathan served us tonight with fun recommendations and delicious drinks. The charcuterie board was enough for two people to enjoy over the course of two drinks. A lovely experience once again. It made our night :)

Evolve Spirit Bar is a Very trendy cocktail lounge at the Very trendy MacQ01 Hotel. Its interior is very comfortable, modern and a fantastic sophisticated place to have a classy beverage. It has a seasonal cocktail menu alongside all the usual favorites and n extensive spirits list from all over the world.

Hard to beat.. best old Fashoned I've ever had. Great bar, with a great atmosphere and even better people serving you. Not to be missed!!!

Hands down the best cocktail bar I’ve been too with the best tasting cocktails. The history and collections of fossils and artefacts in the bar. Went there twice over my visit to Hobart. The dark spirits whiskey cocktails are absolutely incredible & will definitely visit again

Unbelievably stunning fossile collection!!! Superior aesthetics with amazing drinks - we definitely had one amazing night in here. Had the whisky tasting flights and it was fabulous. Queen bee the cocktail was okay (a bit too sweet). Also nice table service and it’s not too busy or noisy - really suitable for a few drinks and conversation to just wind down for the night. One of the most worth visiting bar in Hobart.

What a fantastic, unique bar in the heart of Hobart. We were recommended this as a must-visit location when in Hobart and we were awestruck and delighted. The manager was amicable and very informative and the snacks hit the spot. The fossils highlighted just made it spectacular.

We had a brilliant time doing an extended cocktail making course with Rowan. Course was really good value for the experience. This wasn't a cheap novelty gimmick, we actually learnt history and technique )as well as drinking a lot). Rowan is a top bloke who tailored the session to cover stuff we enjoy. We had such a good experience that we spent the rest of the evening enjoying the vibe, eating great fried chicken, and chatting with the staff. Highly recommend the bar - drinks and snacks are awesome. If you want to make great cocktails at home, do yourself a favour and email them to sort an extended cocktail course. 2.5hrs well spent.

I had a marvellous short stint here at the Rude boy. Our server Lily was warm and hospitable. The food was delightful, with special credit to the halloumi bites. Overall great little stop.

Stumbled upon this place while on our way to dinner. It was a lucky find, we enjoyed this place so much that we popped in again later in the evening for another drink and some fried chicken. Service with a smile and a welcoming environment, definitely will be back when next in Tasmania or see you guys if you have another pop up in Perth WA.

Stopped in for an early bite before shedding to Town Hall for a concert. Contrary to the name, the staff were exceptionaly polite and courteous. The music and ambience were delightful and the food was amazing. We recommend the oyster mushrooms, an absolute standout. Great work team we will return.

Jack & his team were awesome- we had a big group there for dinner & nothing was an issue. Food & drinks were amazing aswell! Will definitely be back when we're in Tassie next time.

Confession; I'm a fried chicken feind! Love this place, always try to sneak a visit if I'm in Hobart This is very high on my list of must visits if I'm in Hobart. I love the simplicity of the great food and epic cocktails. Its a no miss situation. It's got a funky Caribbean feel and I think it pulls it off. There is a lot to love about this place but for me it's the chicken🍗🤯🤯🤯

A great neighbourhood pub in the back of Salamanca. A wonderful atmosphere inside and warm on a cool autumn day. A nice selection of local and mainland craft beers and a pub menu with a few different options. Friendly and attentive staff. I had the crocodile tenders which were on the specials board - yum! Nice local place with a simple bar menu. Service was quick and the burger I had was tasty. They have a rotating selection of local beers, comfortable places for small groups to hang inside and a nice outside patio. There was a light rain as I was leaving that only lasted a few minutes and nobody outside seemed to care

Super friendly staff, great areas to sit for a meal and/or drinks. Cool how they've set the place up! Loved how the bus was flipped to dine in! Great place for vegans looking for a feed too, as they have options! 😄

Absolutely the best wings I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Super friendly staff too! The burger was quite decent and the selection of beers was fantastic. But the standout was the bloody fantastic steaming wings and the delicious loaded fries.

It was my first visit here and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience from start to finish. The employee behind the bar was nice, knowledgeable and knew his beers on tap well. He kindly poured a few tap samples of beer for my parents and explained the difference of the beers to give them comparison between the samples. The food was spot on delicious. I got the classic LA (and being from San Francisco, this did not disappoint). It tasted very similar to an animal style burger and fries from in-n-out burger (also an iconic staple of California). The dining room area is welcoming, inviting and very open. I saw a “book of beers” which was really fun to read through during the short wait for the food. There’s also a really cool outdoor seating area with heat lamps, and a decked out city passenger bus converted into an indoor/outdoor table and chairs so you could eat and or drink inside the city passenger bus! Haven’t seen this elsewhere and I’ll be returning tonight for another drink just to check out this bus in their beer garden. The atmosphere is fantastic for family dinners, dates, casual outings or celebrations. I highly recommend if you’re considering this burger joint, you will not be disappointed! Thanks to the kitchen staff and friendly guy serving beer and taking our order at the register. I also loved that they were supporting a non-profit to help dogs out in Tasmania (which is where our leftover change from dinner went to). And there’s really cool 3D art in the dining area. Open seating. It is important to note that you do have to walk up stairs to get inside. I didn’t see a ramp (in the event someone needed one), but I could’ve missed it on my way out.

Food and beers were on point, staff were lovely and the area was amazing. Will come back again.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Mary Mary, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The drink menu is quite extensive, and I really enjoyed the tapas style, which allowed us to share dishes and sample a variety of flavors. The staff’s recommendations were spot on and added to our delightful evening.

Abandoned and neglected. Could’ve gotten better service at the local pub. AVOID THE BURGER, thick undercooked + unflavoured meat and dry bun. For such a nice/upmarket bar, the service was NOT up to par. Nearly two full plates of food were cleared from the table and not a question asked by the server. Then abandoned for close to an hour, seemed like other tables experienced this too. Water jug was cleared with entrees and no replacement. Wasn’t asked for a second round of drinks. We wanted dessert but I guess not. Maccas soft serve will have to do. Overall very disappointed, in the past the service here has been great and so has the food. Not sure what was in the air tonight, but clearly not good vibes.

A really great spot to unwind! The staff were very attentive, service was very quick, and the food and drinks were delicious. I typically enjoy regular cocktails and wine but gave the mocktails a go as I wasn’t much in the mood for alcohol but had booked ahead for my holiday. They were honestly so good that I didn’t feel like I was missing out!

Tucked secretly inside the Tasman Luxury Hotel, Mary Mary is a shhhhhh secret spot with speakeasy vibes. The ambiance is rustic charm with dim lighting and cozy nooks. It offers a mix of small plates. Their pizza fritta is a revelation — light, airy, and perfectly crisp. The scallops were impressive, seared to perfection and paired with a delicate sauce that complemented without overpowering also served in a shell. The ensalada offered a refreshing contrast. Crunch and lovable. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. Drinks were great.

For some of the best cocktails in one of the best historical and respected hotels a must visit and favorite weekly meetings place for drinks.

The service was average I think I have an espresso cocktail and it was very bland. And the scallops were okay, but Also a bit bland. Nothing really stood out. I like that they had like a fake fire. But apart from that, I wouldn’t really recommend it

Our family had a great experience here last week for dinner. Walking in, the bottles hanging off the ceiling created a cool and trendy vibe. The food selection is great with varied meat, seafood and veg options. Something as simple as the miso soup really impressed me! The cocktail was very delicious too.

My wife and I had dinner at Bar Wa Izakaya on our first night in Hobart visiting from Melbourne. One of the best Japanese restaurants we’ve been to. Onto the dishes, we ordered - yellow tail kingfish sashimi, wallaby wing-age, yakiniku platter, karaage chicken, okonomiyaki and grilled corn. Every dish we ordered we absolutely loved and could not fault YUMMY AND DELICIOUS, jammed packed with flavour. Staff were so kind, friendly and accommodating. The vibes were amazing and the glass bottles on the ceiling made the ambiance stunning. Highly recommend this place!!!

Cannot rate this place more highly. Bar Wa Izakaya is an simply sensational venue serving Japanese fusion. Elaborate theming, staff are very attentive and knowledgeable and it hosts a wide selection of Japanese and local beverages. The highlight is the food which is expertly crafted and authentic and quickly prepared. Our two standouts were Kingfish Sashimi and Soba Noodles. Booking is a must.

We spend our lives eating Japanese food in Australia and in Japan. Bar Wa has a terrific set up and fitout with great staff. Vibe is really good. Prices are great. A nifty spot with hidey holes everywhere - holds a lot of people but doesn’t feel crowded. The cocktail and drink list is awesome - if you can’t find something here to meet your needs you won’t find it anywhere. Unfortunately not certain the good made the grade. Whilst it was alright I couldn’t get excited. Maybe that’s just me being picky as we eat Japanese a lot. I’m sure most people would be satisfied with it so would recommend everyone try it.

5 stars for the drinks and 3 stars for the food. Cocktails have all been spectacular. No doubt on this. Food is just so-so. Too much bonito flakes for one, but we probably just ordered dishes that has it. The hibachi grill meats are good. Gyoza and oyster tempura are just ok. Overall, would come for drinks and light snacks.

Best restaurant in Hobart, but make sure you book early as they get booked out super quickly, even on weekdays! Everything we had was delicious, especially the Yuzu oysters and wallaby wings.

Hands down probably the highlight of my culinary experience in Hobart. Food was a mix of amazing Japanese flavours and clearly using the best and freshest produce available in Hobart. The chefs have done an amazing job representing the Japanese cuisine and the bar menu compliments the food menu and no place would be complete without the unique atmosphere and professional and friendly wait staff. You have an amazing venue and an amazing team well done!!!

The lovely Louise behind the bar was very accommodating and made our night, with her bar-tending skills and hospitality. It’s fab to see such a great representation of Tassie hospitality when you’re new to an area. We can recommend the Margaritas and generous Aperol Spritz. Thanks Hotel Bruny!

Absolutely amazing tonight! The vibe, the band and the staff were all incredible. We came for a couple drinks before dinner and ended up cancelling our reservation to stay and watch the band and have a few cocktails. HUGE shout out to Matt, Jenn and Julie for taking such good care of us tonight

Cute little bar with killer cocktails, we called in 3 times during our stay in Hobart as we liked it so much . The staff are really friendly and attentive.

Had a great night there with my partner. The two piece band were looking for ideas and played every request with gusto! The two magnificent bartenders kept us plied with some of the finest cocktails, rum and whisky I've had. On tap was a seasonal beer that I fell in love with. The venue is cosy, and comfortable. The bar - with lights under glass - shows off the skill of the bartenders with a reflective glow. The crowd a slightly older one. An easy ace to have a conversation without trying to shout over the top of music or other folk. One of the highlights of my visit to Hobart

Great design, food and of course beer! Had the venison curry puffs, Asian style cucumber salad, wallaby spicy skewers and tasting paddle of beers, all delicious. So good to see restaurants doing "game" meat justice, 10/10 would recommend

All the brilliant MONA vibes in a pub down in Salamanca place. Love the Moo Brew and also loved both the Szechuan fries (so spicy 🌶️) and prawn toast. Great vibes and service as expected ♥️

First time visitor as an Interstater to Manky Sally's and thoroughly enjoyed it. The tap beers were delicious and served by very hospitable staff who looked after our accessibility requests with zero fuss. The art decor out back is worth a Schooner in and of itself. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Share meals which were very different from the norm. Oysters were incredible. Sauce that came with the fish was too much though but in an ever changing menu some things are going to be better than others. I would suggest that staff offered advice on what share items go well together. Maybe that sauce from the fish wouldn’t have been so bad if another share item was creamy?

Curry puffs were excellent and the staff were so great, lots of chats and recommendations for our trip to Huon. Wallaby burger was a bit dry but think it’s the nature of the dish.

Very good cocktails and service, but maybe not “great” cocktails. Glad we came and checked it out, it’s so much better than the standard Salamanca tourist-traps, but didn’t want to stay for too long either. Can’t comment personally on food, but the focus is on being a bar with a huge range of spirits and their own unique style which I thought deserved recognition, not really a food focus. I say go for a cocktail and judge yourself!

Very happy I got to this bar! Just around the corner from the Salamanca strip, it’s out of the ‘busy’ and potentially messy night scene. When walking in, it was a very spacious bar and beautiful decor that felt quite luxurious and industrial at the same time… The drinks were quick, the menu had some fun looking drinks and it was laid out well, and the service was awesome - I got greeted straight away. The shelves were amazing, so many spirits available!! Both cocktails I had were perfect for what I was feeling, and how they ‘should’ taste. That’s always nice (haha). It was a chill evening so got to chat to the bartenders about some other places in Hobart to visit and they had great spots that suited me. I also got to meet another lovely human sitting at the bar, so Society attracts nice people (bonus!). Would recommend popping in and having a drink here!

My partner and I had the pumpkin pizza, chip & dip, and two cocktails. The pizza fetta balanced with the soft pumpkin perfectly and the left over crust was delicious to dip into the hummus and dukkah on the 'chip & dip'. Thank you for a lovely meal and drinks🤙

Elegant bespoke bar with an impressive collection of spirits. Cosy, classy vibes, excellent service, and the most delicious baked brie. Also, on a Wednesday night, fun trivia and delicious tacos/nachos. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have frequented society several times. For our own evenings out or part of a group for the drag night bingo evenings. Every time we have been very impressed with not only the food and cocktails but also topped up with outstanding friendly and professional service.

I don’t review every bar I visit, but if I have a great experience, I’ll call it out. I arrived not long before closing (a time some bars are often reluctant to serve or welcome new guests), but Maddie could not have been more hospitable. Friendly, knowledgeable, welcome. Exactly what you want as a visitor. The selection of Tassie whisky here is incredible, and the fact they serve half-drams makes them a true whisky bar IMO. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Hobart!

I was recommended to check out this distillery and am glad I stopped by. The staff did a great job giving me history of the whisky, the company, and companies they purchased. I had two flights which had 3 tastes a piece and the flavors were quite varied, from smooth to putting some hair on your chest. When I finished my flights I knew what I wanted to purchase, but due to pricing I ordered one both bottle and one small bottle. The atmosphere at the bar was well done. My pics might not do it full justice, but is a cozy place to sip and enjoy company. It was also in walking distance if my hotel the Crowne Plaza Hobart.

Definitely my favorite Bar in Hobart, came here two days in a row. Well made signature cocktails, gin and whisky base, the Peat Treat is a must, very well balanced drink, pleated whisky, sherry, mandarin and ginger, I can't stop drinking it! Insane Tasmanian Whisky selection, I believe they have the full collection with over 300 whiskys. Fantastic customer service, friendly, accommodating and very professional. The atmosphere and the look of the Bar is fantastic.

Great time here on a Sunday afternoon. Partner had an awesome experience trying lots of different whiskies and chatting to the staff. Bar food was also yummy! Highly recommended.

Great selection of Tassie whiskies, and really hospitable bar staff. Rez (did I spell correctly?) curated an amazing tasting journey for me, ultimately culminating in me finding something I can't leave without grabbing a bottle of. Highly recommended for all whisky enthusiasts.

Friendly staff . I had a flight of Gin and husband had a flight of whisky . Both enjoyed them very much . Atmosphere relaxing .

Vibes and music were impeccable, and the staff were absolutely wonderful and accommodating. Food was prepared fresh and we had good recommendations for the wine (see: mystery wine on the menu!) Apart from the alcoholic options there was also a very delicious non-alcoholic cider from PRAH that we’ve been unable to find at any other bar / restaurant since.

Just went here tonight! The food was terrific. Full of flavour, simple but also complex at the same time, so tasty! Staff were all so friendly and bad a good vibe going. They were so helpful in choosing wines and food (in particular this one waitress who helped me choose a wine and carefully went through the menu and helped with portioning sizing). Atmosphere was great. It's small, but it's cosy at the same time. Would 100% recommend and would definitely come again!

Good vibes all round with the long communal bar seating and intimate benches off to the side. Even the LP stand is a seat if you're keen! Wine list hits hard despite it's size and great value small plates.

Loved this wine bar! Bar snacks were great and had some interesting pours. Service could have been more attentive. Recommend getting there early not to queue outside, but totally worth it for the vinyl music and good vibes.

Worth the wait! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe! Food was delicious! We shared the pasta and it was a very generous size! Staff were all lovely and while waiting in the line kept popping out and keeping us updated and in the loop which we loved!

Good vibes all around Visited alone and it’s a great environment to chat with new people at the communal bar It is very cozy. It adds to the vibes but it also means it’s quite tight in there, so be warned if you have accessibility needs. I also appreciated that Sonny is walk-in only (no resos)

Fantastic experience at The Den Salamanca! The young lady who served me was very attentive and made sure my meal was prepared without garlic, which I really appreciated. The service was excellent throughout, friendly and professional. The food was fresh and delicious, crisp fries, a refreshing salad, and perfectly cooked bites. The atmosphere is just amazing, with warm lighting, stone walls, and the fireplace making it cozy and relaxing. A perfect spot for both casual dining and unwinding. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

It's a great place to have a drink or 3 . The food is amazing. Try the Bao Buns . Live music on the weekend and lovely staff make this place a must try in Hobart . Did i mention the awesome Bao Buns ?? . There's an up stairs aswell for more seating and covered seatting out the front .

I had the crispy chicken bao and it was amazing, so good I want it again right now. Atmosphere was incredible with the mood lighting and all the wood on the walls and bar they had inside. Sitting outside also was very nice even if it’s cold (just have a puffer jacket). They had lots of space and a very nice bar. It really does feel like a den inside! It has asian food, mostly Thai and Singaporean. If you’re the kind of person who likes being comfortable and cosy i definitely recommend this place. The den is so cosy and nice I will be back again.

Superb ambiance, service, food & drinks. What more could you want. Pork belly bao was a major hit. (Also, trying to recreate their 'Ghost Margarita' cocktail at home... not the same - best fly back to Tassie I think ^_^).

What absolutely wonderful service! Koby and Keely were wonderful servers and bartenders. We ordered the old fashioned with smoked native botanicals and it was phenomenal, when most old fashioned are over sweetened and over diluted this one was perfect. Koby suggested wine to my taste and it was brilliant, and the atmosphere was so lovely. We booked by the fire and Brodie too our booking and had us sorted in a wonderful spot. Downsides: we went on Melbourne cup day and the venue was understaffed, completely full with two staff. Edamame sat on the pass and steamed until it was soggy, 35 minute delay on our red wine, 39 minutes for chicken skewers and we had to request napkins for food, and all the while a never ending stream of guests piled in between 5-6pm. After 6pm 2x more staff jumped in (which is exactly the time I would staff up a venue more considerably in the current climate) but by that time we had decided to move on as we only have one night in Hobart. Please staff up more for Melbourne cup day next year, but we will absolutely be back. Thanks Koby for making our night in Hobart special.

The Den is a beautiful venue — warm, inviting, and full of charm. The atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit. However, it’s worth considering what events may be happening nearby before you go, as the experience can vary depending on the night. We visited on an uncharacteristically busy evening — Melbourne Cup night combined with a university event — and unfortunately, the bar was noticeably understaffed. With only two bartenders trying to handle cocktails, beers, wines, and spirits for a full venue, service understandably struggled. As hospitality professionals visiting from Victoria, it was a little disappointing to have this be our one night out in Hobart. That said, when things are running smoothly, The Den has all the ingredients for a great experience. And if you’re lucky enough to be served by Koby or Keely, you’re in excellent hands — they know how to mix a solid drink and bring genuine warmth to the service. Overall: Yes, I’d recommend The Den — just try to visit on a less hectic night to really appreciate what it has to offer.

Loved my experience here, from the atmosphere to the staff and especially the brew! What a nice vibe. Being an American and loving our breweries, I wanted to get a bit of a comparison. Definitely spot on!! The staff is super friendly and helpful, I had a flight and the team member was good about asking me my preferences. The outside is very family oriented and also great for large groups or just a solo looking to enjoy the atmosphere. Dog friendly and a food truck on location. My favorite was the Harbor Master but I enjoyed all I tasted.

Got a chance to try local beer here, I ordered Hobart lager which I guess the best beer on the menu since it carries the name of their shop and the city. The taste was okay for me but to be honest I liked Emu beer more which I got to taste while I was in Perth. Staff service was okay also, they snatch an unfinished can of beer of my associate which we bought in Liquorland and they said it was not allowed to bring / consume while in their premises. They actually did us a favor I guess because the beer we bought in Liquorland tastes terrible because it tasted like expired beer.

Great space! Huge indoor and outdoor area. Warm cider was perfect for a chilly winter day. Very quiet when we were there. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

We love supporting locals so not once but twice we visited this brewery twice on our stay in Hobart. Great selection of beers, huge outdoor area where kids can run a muck, and very friendly staff. Did i mention great beer!🍺

The brewpub is set up in an old warehouse near the harbour. A good range of beers and cider. Really liked the stout.

Always an excellent beer in a friendly area. Beautiful variety of beers. Not overly crafty ones either. Red square is a huge open garden in front of the big red shed. Food from a truck in the garden.

Hobart Brewing Co is the perfect place to wind down after a busy day. Patrons can enjoy their drinks in the red shed or out in the neighbouring Red Square space with its relaxing vibes. There's a variety of food vendors for those who might get peckish in between drinks.

Nicely done up place. Very friendly staff. We went with the intention to eat mexican but it was not operational due to a wedding downstairs, bit of a bummer :-( Korean vegetarian dumplings were delicious. Tempura Mushroom was lovely too... I really appreciated the heaters and the fire place

In the Hanging Garden (ITHG) is a unique partly outdoor venue that takes up nearly an entire block with multiple access points including one on Murray Street in the Hobart CBD. Within you find multiple tiered area with alfresco dining, standing room tables with high glass ceiling, a multitude of cascading and hanging plants, heaters and a fair amount of space for those visiting one of the eateries (Mexican, Deli, Pizzeria, Korean, Slow Comfort Food) or bars that are setup within the Hanging Gardens. We had dinner here one night during a recent stay in Hobart, found our Calabrese pizza that was quite good. Bar and wine served up from the downstairs bar was fine as well. Took seating upstairs near the central heating and really enjoyed the vibes of ITHG. This is a really fun place to meet up with friends afterwork or on weekends and a neat place for visitors to try while in the city. Would love to visit again next time in Hobart.

I just love," The Hanging Garden". Met up on Saturday with my dear friend and daughter. I always go to my favourite, Vegan Korean Tofu. It is absolutely delicious. The staff are amazing, and the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. Would definitely recommend for any occasion. See you guys again soon. Keep up the good work. 👍

I visited on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to see many families, including children, creating a diverse and friendly environment. It’s clear that this spot is perfect for all kinds of visitors, adding to its appeal. One of the highlights is the expansive communal seating area, which can accommodate hundreds of people comfortably. There’s even a stage structure, suggesting this venue is well-prepared for live events and performances. Without a doubt, The Hanging Garden is one of the best-planned spaces for events in the heart of Hobart. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for a place to kill the vibe and be told off like you’re in detention instead of out with your mates, this is the bar for you. We came in to enjoy a few drinks, spend some money, and have a good time. Apparently, the crime we committed was laughing too loudly. Not shouting, not causing a scene, just laughing. Isn’t that the whole point of going out with friends? To relax and enjoy yourself? Instead, we got scolded by staff like naughty schoolkids. Nothing kills a good night quicker than being policed for having fun. The atmosphere went from buzzing to awkward in seconds. Drinks were average, service was colder than the beer, and the staff clearly care more about keeping the place funeral-quiet than letting people enjoy themselves.

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE! In The Hanging Garden is one of the best concepts for an entertainment venue in existence. It is so Tasmania in the sense of the gardens yet adding a Melbourne like Laneway vibe. Adding 4 different types of delicious food vendors with drinks to match makes it the perfect location for an afternoon chill out session or a nice meal with food with friends or the family. A great location and a must when in Hobart!

RUN.. don’t walk! If you’re lucky enough to get a seat, kick back with a glass of wine, and watch the fabulous staff prepare your meals in front of you. The steak tartare is outstanding as was the tomato salad. But what really is special about this place is the staff.. we felt like we were dining with friends.

Interesting challenge for a wine lover visiting Hobart. No Tassie Chardonnay, in fact no wine list at all. Just leaving your trust in the team to get it right and make it enjoyable. They nailed it. A WA Chardonnay, an oxidative Italian 'Orange' White, a textural Alsace Field blend from Rohrer and a Beaujolaisesque Pinot from the Adelaide Hills. Beets and Feta, Wild Hare, Pork and Pistachio Terrine were equally as enjoyable.

It’s always our go to when in Hobart. Last night was full of atmosphere, superb food made with inspiration and local ingredients, and natural wines from Auvergne, Roussillon and the Jura. We can’t ask for more than that! thanks Kobi and staff for yet another unforgettable experience.

Awesome food, and friendly staff that’s eager to help. We tasted several different wines before we settled on one we liked. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and it’s easy to strike up conversations with strangers. We liked this place so much we ended up coming here twice in a couple of weeks.

Food was tasty and complimented the 'new world' wine offerings of from local and international producers. The wine service was interestingly collaborative even for BTG which was enjoyable and personal. A few of the finer details were overlooked which seem uncharacteristic from the most recent reviews but slightly tarnished our overall experience. However, we would consider returning when back in Hobart next.

Have been to the very best of places from NYC, London, Rome, Sydney, etc. This is the most fabulous hidden gem with an absolutely lovely staff. The beef tartare was delicious and atmosphere was fabulous!!

I found Lucinda while looking online for wine bars in the area and was so excited to go. Happy to say it lived up to my expectations. The server was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us pick out some lovely wines (a Riesling and a Chardonnay). The food was incredible as well. All in all one of my favorite stops so far.

A rustic pub with a lot of history! We dined by their open fireplace and it made for a very cosy atmosphere. The food was excellent for pub standards and beautifully presented. I did find the seafood linguine a bit too oily, but everything else was on point. Very friendly service and the food came out timely.

Fabulous pub! The oldest licensed one in Australia so we had to have food and drinks here. Was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. We had the mushroom arancini balls to start (huge serving of 4 pieces) hubby had the seafood chowder and I had the fish of the day. Nice drop of Habour Master too! Highly recommend you book and cant thank our wonderful waitress Azra who looked after us!

Great find stumbling on to the oldest licensed pub in Australia and it has the atmosphere to boot! Lovely old rooms with a nice selection of brew on tap among other drinks. The cozy room with a fireplace and a burning stove insert is perfect for atmosphere. There is plenty of seating and a delightful menu serving various local dishes as well as pub food. Staff is phenomenal-hats off to the nice English lady who works there, it was a pleasure chatting with her!

Take a wander through the lower storey rooms and enjoy the ambiance and atmosphere Then try the HOT BUTTERED RUM and some delicious menu items- O.M.G - I am not a rum drinker but I do enjoy a warmed tipple - next level!! …. My family and I (7 of us) came here to have a nice meal together. And we a thousand percent did!!!!! All of us enjoyed our meals. The Caesar salad looked delicious (the person next to me ordered it and said they really enjoyed it, it had a good amount of dressing on it). But most of us ordered the chicken Parmi. OMG!! One of the best parmi’s I’ve ever had!! The chips and salad were perfect. But the main star was the sauce on the parmi! Absolutely to die for! The cheese was delicious and I was extra lucky coz my Parmi came with some crunchy flakey cheese on the bottom🤤 so delicious. I wish I lived in Hobart coz I’d be addicted to their Parmi’s. And then we had the amazing idea to share some Sticky date dessert. Again absolutely delicious!! I’m so glad we tried it!! I really struggled to share it with the rest of my family 😂😂 The staff were all really nice and helpful and friendly. Oh! And the meals came out looking a lot nicer then the photos show. I forgot to take photos before we dug into the meals 😂😂

Visiting from Brisbane & had a Tassie family get together here. The service was great, atmosphere was great but the smoke from the open fires was stinging a few people’s eyes. Just cracking a window open a little near the fire would have helped. I had the 200gm porterhouse steak, it was cooked to medium perfectly 👏 the chef. I meant to ask if the chef is Ceoliac because pretty much everything on the menu had a gf option . All the deserts were gluten free, can’t remember the last time I had a gf sticky date pudding? It was bloody amazing ❤️ I highly recommend dining here 👏

The New Sydney has long been an institution and go-to pub for several decades....and for good reason. Conveniently located, good range of food options, plenty of beverages to be had, cosy atmosphere and live entertainment on offer. On this occassion I decided to stick with the more traditional pub food and went with a chicken parmy with chips and salad and a pint of pale ale to enjoy it with. All up it came to about $45 with the meal being delicious and more than ample. It was very busy but food came witin a very reasonable time frame. Within the walls there's certainly plenty of character and a comfy atmosphere. It was a cold night so the warmth within was defininately welcomed. Staff friendliness adds to the atmosphere. Wether it's a meal you're after, a few drinks or just somewhere to meet up and unwind then you can't go wrong here.

Great old school Irish pub with a plethora of nice beers on tap. The log fire invites you in with a great warmth on these cold days. The pub staff are welcoming just as the log fire is. And so does the ambience draw you in. A great place to have a nice pub meal and enjoy a nice beer or three. Bonus is the $10 Guinness pints offer between 2pm and 5pm

Perfect spot to have a pint of Guinness on a cold and windy Wednesday afternoon. It’s a beautiful, cosy traditional pub. The staff are friendly and the Guinness was perfect. 10/10. If you’re not up for a Guinness, they have a great selection of beers on tap. And the Spice Bag is a must-try if you don’t mind a bit of spice.

The Porterhouse steak was excellent and cooked very well. The pub had a older traditional pub atmosphere and was very popular. It's not a big place but very cosy and has a open fireplace. Definitely an option for adecent selection of drinks and tasty food.

What a wonderful little pub. It's very handy as it's right in the middle of town. We went Thursday for drinks and loved it so much we booked dinner there on Friday night. One ordered the pork knuckle, which was amazing - the only thing that could have made it better would have been crackling. I ordered the porterhouse steak cooked medium well but was Disappointed that it came out medium rare. It went back to be cooked a little more and was then overcooked, but I expected that. I still ate it so not all lost. The staff is amazing and so friendly. The pub has so much atmosphere with an open fireplace and an outdoor laneway experience for those who wanted the cold. Well definitely go back next time we're in Hobart - Loved the New Sydney lager, great beer!!!I

Great traditional pub in centre of Hobart. Beer pretty good and friendly locals, Sunday night singer in the bar was a nice addition (not too loud). Rated the Guinness pie w mushy peas, like being home in the UK.

A good little Irish pub but a bit cramped in the front bar. The staff are friendly and the food was satisfactory but nothing special. Live music on a Saturday from 2pm is cool.

I had a great time at Republic Bar & Café in North Hobart! The atmosphere was lively, welcoming, and full of energy. The live music created such a fun vibe—especially the artist who performed that night . The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was smooth even though the place was busy. Drinks were well-made, and the overall experience felt vibrant and memorable. It’s definitely one of the best spots in Hobart for good music, a relaxed crowd, and an authentic bar experience. I’ll be back for sure!

We went for quiz night. Food was good , however I should have gone medium with my scotch fillet and not medium rare. The Jack Daniels sauce was amazing.

Saturday night at approx. 1045pm I was told to leave this venue by security after bar staff ordered them to make me leave. I asked why I was being asked to leave they told me "it doesn't matter why you are leaving now" I asked again why they would not provide me with an answer. After a minute or 2 of debate about why I was being made to leave the security guards grabbed me and threw me on the ground. Very poor form by the duty manger on the night and the security guards who could not use any form of communication and would rather try to use excessive force to make me leave the venue. For reference all i did prior to this happening was joking around wiping some chalk off a small blackboard that said "Private Party" which was well and truly over. We were just trying to sit by the heaters to keep warm on a windy cold night.

I haven't been here for quite some time so I thought I was about due to have a meal here. Staff were friendly enough and I decided to go a parma which I hadn't had for awhile. It was served with fries and salad. The food didn't take long to come and was quite delicious. But....... It did seem like the place could for with a good clean as the first table I came across was quite sticky to the touch. So much so I had to move to another table which seemed to be better, but not by much. Would I go back again? Not sure about that. Doesn't have the same feel it had a few years back.

Love it. Good vibe. Cool seating. Great food and the Service from Lewis today was very helpful, prompt and Funny! I love to go there when its quiet but you never feel pushed to order ...... Love the couch/old mirrors/chandelier corner and the drinks are quite well priced. Happy customer.

Awesome range of ales! The food is salty as a sailor's sweatpants, but some of us like it that way, and underneath the sodium, it's still filling and flavoursome! Full disclosure I used to work her, but that was over half a decade ago. It's my first time coming back as a customer, and good to see that the beers and food are still on point 👌

Great venue although small so probably good to book a table. Great food! Moist and tasty. Great beers. Love the Summer Delight and Porter. Free parking on Elizabeth St on Saturdays and Sundays and after 6pm on Fridays. Good music. Gotta go!

Moderate walk from the dock, past a few pubs and shops, leads you to Shambles. I question why it's so quiet, as the beverage selection is large and the staff amenable and knowledgeable. Ignore the ghost town vibes of north Hobart, get an Uber, rent a scooter or walk, as it's got some great tunes and better beer. Look I didn't do food as I'm a beer fella. So get in, and get some beer. Perhaps even some food. Certain this place goes off of a night time. Big hand to the crew at Shambles, and as I say, " you can live without love, but you can't live without beer!!"

Wonderful service! Claire and benny were some of the best bar tenders ive ever experienced. Were so knowledgeable on their product. Would gladly go back to shambles any day of the week. 🍺🍺🍺🍺

We had a fabulous delicious breakfast. A must try is their poached spiced apple crumble waffles with icecream, my son loved it.

While the waiter was very friendly, we did not like the food at all. We ordered the chicken karage poke bowl, the most expensive dish, which in general was quite tasty. But on top of the bowl there were huge smacks of mayonaise. It was impossible to take that mayonaise away from the dish. This was not mentioned on the menu, as I really dislike mayonaise. If they want to serve mayonaise, it should be served on the side at least instead of ruining the dish.

Friendly service and a fantastic cold brew. I also ordered the scrambled eggs and mushrooms which was filling and yummy but a tad on the spenny side for what it was. Definitely cute tho!

The food here is pretty standard cafe fare, the coffee wasn't great but not the worst. My partner and I went here expecting a queer-friendly atmosphere but seems to just be a rainbow-themed cafe. The staff were a bit short with their attitude and the customer base isn't what would typically be queer friendly.

I went for a sneaky little breakfast this morning. It was one of the loveliest café experiences I’ve had in a long while. The staff were all really friendly and happy. Fresh flowers on all the tables. Great batch brew. Food was incredible (especially the truffled mushrooms on rosti) and Bloody Mary’s were delicious and also hilarious as the bartender said he just felt like sticking a whole tree in the glass! The entire restaurant was looking at us as they arrived! It was quite a fun spectacle! Very dramatic 🤣 it put us all in a great mood. Highly recommended.

What a great place for dinner. We had the feed me option, which changes monthly. Plenty to eat for $49pp. Beautiful dishes and very flavoursome. Enjoyed it very much. The feed me is also available with matched wines.

Institut Polaire offers fresh and amazing food in a lovely atmosphere. Their scallop sashimi is phenomenal—nicely balanced. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and the portion sizes. The service is outstanding, with staff ensuring every aspect of your experience is well taken care of. It's definitely a place you'll want to return to. Good choice for dining in groups, dates, or solo dinners.

Simply superb in every facet. This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. The staff were fantastic - knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. The wine suggestions by the team were spot on and paired perfectly with the food. We enjoyed a bottle of German Riesling, and a local Pinot Noir that were both sublime. The food was unbelievably good. The raw scallops were a particular highlight, as was the rest of the fruits de mer. The caviar service was well worth the extra cash, the blinis were to die for! I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed this place but if you take anything away from this it’s that you simply have to go! I will be telling all my friends about this place, and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Sensational.

I have been waiting to eat here for a long time and was not only not disappointed but blown away by the high level of service and innovative food as part of my seven course meal. Each course build upon each other and after 90 minutes I had thoroughly enjoyed simply one of the best meals I have had. And the portions were plentiful. Highlights were the scallop sashimi, heirloom tomatoes, snapper and an incredible whisky caramel tort. I ate by myself but the highly trained staff kept me informed and more importantly, very welcome and engaged. Highly, highly recommended!

We stumbled across here by walking down the street and stopping for a drink….ended up staying for dinner and the crab pasta was to die for. Absolutely incredible. Great soundtrack in the restart, friendly staff and great cocktail and wine selection. First stop for dinner next time we are in Hobart!

We went to Intuit Polaire for their martinis - which were exceptional! We decided to try a few smaller food dishes to share ... and what a pleasant surprise they were! Absolutely beautiful food too (we had fresh oysters, the Tuna Carpaccio and some Bodega toast) - as good as any fine dining restaurant! The staff were super friendly and very accommodating too. You must try the "cigarette martini" (if Lagavulin were to make a martini - this would be it!) Loved the experience souch we came back a second time a few days later! Loved this place!

Easily one of the best dining experiences we have had. The food, ambience, service, drinks & dedication to their craft is of the highest standard. Every dish was divine. We had a phenomenal Brazilian waitress who was provided such a great experience for us as we were sharing a birthday dinner. Thank you for such a beautiful dinner 🥰

After hearing glowing recommendations from several friends, we were eager to try the feed me menu — and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. The intimate setting, exceptional food, and beautifully crafted drinks created the perfect celebration. The standout dish for us was the tartare, closely followed by the snapper — both absolute highlights. If you’re still reading, do yourself a favour and book a table. Great coffee. Best cheese toastie on the island. Food offering often seasonally appropriate (rare for a cafe!) and always delicious. Lovely wines, fun cocktails, and a delightful spot to relax and people watch, regardless of the weather. Run and staffed by good humans. Highly recommend.

This gem is "hidden" away at Brooke St Pier which just happens to be the gateway to the MONA ferry. It also happens to have an incredible outlook over the waterfront and city that is hard for anyone not to love. The food here is always just what you wanted, and the homemade cakes shouldn't be resisted. Coffee hits the mark every time. The wine and cocktails are an added bonus here and better quality than most places in town. The service is warm and efficient and always leaves me feeling appreciated. Great spot for all ages and next to the waterfront carpark that always has a few spots to park conveniently. Come for the coffee, stay for everything else on offer.

I rate this as my favourite bar in Hobart. We saw The Empty Threats, The Peep Temple and Teens there during Dark MoFo and feel in love with this venues. It felt like the best kind of 90s grunge bar. The staff were awesome and we'd go back in a heartbeat. I'm sure they have kicking live music there all the time. Definitely worth a check out if you're in town.

Dark grunge vibes for dark mofo festival. $6.66 drink specials worthy of mention, and some bar snacks available. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cosy indoors, plenty of armchairs and couches too. Worth a visit for the spectacle.

Incredibly disappointed with Ivory. The top tier staff are rude and dismissive (or choosing to ignore the very obvious presence of assaults, unhidden drug usage/sales) paired with a dirty venue (think vomit, sticky everything and quite possibly the most disgusting toilets I have ever seen). This happens to also be the only venue in Hobart where I have had someone steal items out of my bag (on my body). Seems to cater to a specific type (eshays, bogans and people trying to flex some sort of wannabe lifestyle) and I certainly won't be returning.

It's an okay place, the bartenders are nice and the drink prices are good. None of the toilets have locks in them or if they do they're broken so they can't close which sucks

bar staff are great, just look out for the big egg head doorman the looser has let the power go to his thick polished head..

Bouncers can't control patrons spilling out around surrounding businesses and trashing their front entrances.
