Offal barbecue restaurant
Korean beef restaurant
Gunjadaehan Gopchang, located in Myeongdong, offers a unique dining experience centered around gopchang, the small intestines of pork or cattle. This Korean barbecue staple can be enjoyed in various ways such as soups, stir-fries, and grilled dishes. The restaurant's festive atmosphere and attentive service make it a standout choice in the competitive food scene of Myeongdong.
Absolutely delicious — a must-try if you’re in Korea! I was so impressed with the mixed grilled beef intestine set. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The best part? The staff grills it for you, and they do it perfectly — way better than doing it yourself. The texture and taste were just spot on. I honestly crave it every single day now. If you’re a fan of grilled offal or looking to try something uniquely Korean, this place is a total win. Highly recommend!

Really good, fresh intestine - cooked perfectly with great flavor and texture. You can really taste the quality and freshness in every bite. The line wasn't too bad, and even if you do have to wait a bit, it's absolutely worth it! The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Definitely one of the best places around if you're craving authentic, delicious intestine dishes. I'll be coming back for sure!
Linh L — Google review
Food was very good, but it was short of perfect. The bean sprouts soup at the beginning of the meal has quite a kick. It's very refreshing between greasy bites. The small intestines weren't as internally clean as I prefer, but still very enjoyable. I thought the meal would be particularly oily but it certainly was not. If anything, just right. I am a solo diner. Keep in mind that you need to order two entrées to begin with. Luckily I was terribly hungry, so the portion was perfect for myself. For a group, or even a pair, the portion sizes are small with comparison to other non-Myeondong area locations.
Estelle C — Google review
We had a great time during lunch. Easy to order, and the fact that they cook it for us made it even more attractive. We are good cooking our own K-BBQ back in Seattle, but with these options (intestines and all), it's better to have someone who really knows the cocking duration of each of the meet in the mix do it, rather than under or over cooking them. We had 2 of the brisket + intestine (mixed with assorted vegetables), and one beef ribs assorted. Added the Kimchi fried rice which came last. Anyone who wants to take out the complexity of eating at KBBQ, and have the best kbbq taste in town should make this a definite stop.
Robin V — Google review
Such a gem in Myeongdong! We ordered for two but it felt like three portions — so full and satisfied 😋 The staff were super friendly and even helped grill everything for us. Cozy vibe, great food, and fair prices. Definitely coming back again! 💯🔥
Rizky A — Google review
I still cannot imagine to encounter such honesty and integrity here in this restaurant and displayed by the staff. We had dinner here but realised our iPhone was left behind only after back to our room. Walked back to the restaurant and the staff was extremely helpful to help search around and then found our phone being safe kept at the cashier counter. Thank you very much again for the kind help as I did not expect to ever get back the phone again. Forgot to mention the great BBQ hot plate food too !!! 👍❤️👏🙌
Huathuathuat A — Google review
Great Korean restaurant! The beef intestine was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere — perfect for Korean BBQ lovers. Definitely worth coming back for another meal!

Authentic Korean grilled beef intestines! Crispy outside, juicy inside, bursting with smoky flavor. Loved the garlic, mushrooms, and dipping sauce combo. Cozy vibe, great service, totally worth the calories!

Restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an authentic Korean gopchang experience, look no further than Gangnam Gop! Nestled conveniently near Exit 4 of Gangnam Station, this restaurant has gained immense popularity among both locals and visitors alike. With its appearance on various TV shows and a nod from renowned foodie Lee Yeong-ja, it’s a must-visit for BBQ enthusiasts. Gangnam Gop is truly a hidden gem that offers grilled beef intestines that are nothing short of spectacular.
If you’re a fan of Korean BBQ, this spot is a hidden gem you absolutely can’t miss. I came here on a friend’s recommendation, and wow — the grilled beef intestines (곱창) totally blew me away. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside, and that smoky aroma? Next-level. Definitely not your average BBQ place. If you’re craving something bold, rich, and straight out of Seoul, this is the place. 10/10 recommend — just be ready to fall in love with gopchang.
Ngoc D — Google review
good nice delicious. not to much oil. the assorted beef cut well, not too much fat. teokpokki is soft, and the sauce is nice. moderate noise but still can talk. good place to drink and talk.
Alisha G — Google review
Love this place!!! Known for a lot of celebrities as well. 곱창(small intestines) are the best in my opinion. Side dish if tteokbokki is also one of a kind. Service is very fast and located in the middle of Gangnam.
SooMin J — Google review
The pickles and tteokbokki served as side dishes are truly delicious. The beef intestines are fresh, and the service from the staff is really satisfying. If I come back to Korea, this is a place I'd like to visit again. Just to note, the meat is all cooked and ready to eat, making it convenient to dig in right away.
Morie — Google review
Don't fall for the trap.. High rating is due to freebies for five star review.. it's also not foreigner friendly as no one speaks english, they don't understand what you want and throwing your food without confirming instead... both intestines and tripes are hard and dry like rubber... With this price, you can easily get a better quality somewhere else...
Edita A — Google review
Love it! Clean intestines no smell lively atmosphere. Set meal for one person available. Recommend!
Firsttime S — Google review
Absolutely loved this restaurant! The grilled beef intestines were fresh, crispy outside and juicy inside. Their signature assorted combo was perfect for first-timers — comes with small, large intestines and more. Side dishes were tasty and refilled generously. The staff were kind and the cooking was done right at the table, which made the whole experience fun and flavorful. Highly recommend!
Jw Z — Google review
This is a great place for intestines. They’ve got assorted intestines as well as delicious sides like friend rice or ramen. The price is reasonable and people are nice. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to give grilled intestines a try!

Bossam restaurant
Korean restaurant
Korean rice wine pub
Insadong Maneul Bossam is a traditional Korean dish that is often enjoyed with kimchi. It is typically prepared after Gimjang, a customary event for making large quantities of kimchi for the winter. The dish involves dipping bossam in ssamjang or salted shrimp and wrapping it in lettuce and perilla leaves. While some may find the garlic sauce unappealing, it can be substituted with a salty sauce for a delicious alternative.
Was their first customer yesterday, so no waiting time. So many side dishes that I felt sorry for not eating them all 😅 Bossam was good, though it was my first time to try it so no comparison with others. Chives pancake I had yet to try since it wa actually big that I had to bring it home (still in the fridge). After 30 minutes of opening a lot of customers came (mostly Koreans); there was already a queue by the time I left. Staff was welcoming even to solo customers.
Ronkensh — Google review
Slight confusion at first due to the language spoken. After we sorted that out, things went smoothly. We ordered a small garlic bossam, small kimchi stew with pork and one serving of chives pancake. The bossam never disappoint us. The pork in the kimchi stew is tender and the kimchi is just right, not too sour. The chives pancake is also nice, not oily but yet crispy. Will visit here again.
Wendy K — Google review
Okay, so bossam isn't my absolute favorite dish, but I still really enjoy it. I love how it has a light initial taste that just keeps developing the more you eat. The flavor really builds up with the sides and extras really elevate the whole experience. Definitely recommend giving it a try! Made a fan of me Authentic
Henry L — Google review
Small and cosy place but luckily we reached before the lunch crowd and got a table with no waiting time The bossam was soooo good. No porky smell and it simply melts in your mouth. Should be 1 of the best I ever had. Spicy fried octopus is very good too. The sauce is so flavourful and the octopus cook just right which makes it so soft. The kimchi tofu soup was not the usual kind we had in SG. The tofu is a whole slab cut and served separately. Nice firm tofu which goes very well when you put into the soup and eat it together. Actually it’s very nice on its own too.
Serene L — Google review
Delicious and authentic Korean food in Insadong. The braised pork with garlic was outstanding – tender, rich, and full of flavour. We also enjoyed the chives pancake and the stir-fried baby octopus dish, both excellent in taste. The highlight was the unique makgeolli made from burnt rice crust, smooth and memorable. Be sure to come early or try to come personally to make a reservation – the place fills up quickly and is often booked out. Overall, a fantastic meal and a place I’d highly recommend.
Porpoise S — Google review
This restaurant is a hidden gem! We had the two person set and it was amazing. The atmosphere was lovely and the owner was so welcoming. Thank you so much for the delicious meal!
Siobhan B — Google review
This was a great dinner spot for bossam. The bossam was so tender and clean tasting, I wish we had bossam like this in the states. The garlic sauce was the perfect dip for the meat and we had to order some makgeolli with the pajun. Such a great and tasty meal that didn't leave you feeling overly full or bloated because of how fresh the ingredients were.
Mikayla K — Google review
I came here a year ago, the food was delicious! That’s why I come back a year later! The kimchi was amazing as well!

Hanokjib Kimchijjim Seodaemun Main is a must-visit authentic Korean restaurant in Seoul. The place offers delicious and reasonably priced food, especially for those who enjoy spicy dishes. The interior is interesting with multiple rooms and staircase-style floors, providing plenty of space for larger groups. Visitors recommend trying the kimchi and various dishes like pork kimchi jim and egg mari with melted cheese inside.
Very humble local restaurant where you can taste the original Kimchi Jjim! (Something similar to Kimchi soup). Staffs were so friendly, service was very quick, and of course food was delicious.
Busysuzie S — Google review
Visited this place many years ago, when it was situated in an old house, it had such nice rustic vibes. The shop has since moved 5 years ago to this new shop. Although it does not have that rustic vibes, the food is still pretty good, I love the slow boiled pork with kimchi, so flavourful and wonderful with rice. The egg and side dishes are also done really well. Will visit again, when I visit Seoul.
Gary O — Google review
I can't recommend this place enough, if I could find my way back without our guide I'd of went more while visiting Seoul! This place is an absolute must!! Authentic food at a great price! (Also great if you like spicy food) probably best to bring a native speaker as well for ordering 😁 make sure to try the kimchi in this place it's amazing!
David F — Google review
Local restaurant with casual atmosphere. The food is tasty and very cheap
Ekkaraj A — Google review
Delicious food in authentic Korean restaurant. The Kimchi Jim has pork that breaks apart as you touch it and the Egg Mari is huge and has melted cheese inside.
Mike H — Google review
Main menu is kimchiccim which made of kimchi boiled with fork and some other ingredients. Little bit hot and spicy but it is really recommended. You can add some noodles in it. I also recommend gyeranmary(fried eggs rolled in shape of bread). Adding some ketchup on it tastes great. Rice and noodles can be refilled.
돼지 — Google review
The food is just normal, doesn't serve kimchi...
Tau W — Google review
Always tasty. My friends and I always get the 김치찜 and 계란말이 along with a couple bottles of 막걸리. The interior is interesting with several rooms and staircase style floors. The prices are reasonable. There is plenty of space, so it's possible to bring a larger group. All the seating is on the floor.

Gwanghwamun House is a hidden gem in the Gwanghwamun area, offering hearty and delicious Korean dishes. This unpretentious restaurant serves kimchi stew with succulent pork belly and other sides, creating a simple yet flavorful dining experience. Tucked away in a cute alley, it may be small and no-frills but is always bustling with locals enjoying the flavorful kimchi jjigae served in pots heated at each table.
Literally. Family owned. Family style. But you face to risk related uncomfortable somethings, you can't miss the vibe of old Korean country residents on the center of Ginat Seoul.

Very cozy and authentic place with delicious kimchi stew.
Juho K — Google review
A restaurant that serves Kimchi jjigae located in a cute little alley. The place is no frills and I guess could be considered a hole in the wall. There aren't a lot of tables so I can imagine it could get crowdy during peak times. The place was run by 3 ladies who were always quick in serving. The soup itself was full of flavor and just spicy enough. Also consider ordering the omelet if you're really hungry as they make it fresh and on the spot.
Bernard W — Google review
I decided to stop by for a quick lonely dinner and ended up falling in love with the place. Gwangwmhwamun Jib (Gwanghwamun House) 광화문집 serves Kimchi Jjigae 김치찌개 and it serves just right! The soup was amazing, embedding the sour taste of old fermented kimchi 김치 - just the way it should be. It would've been extra perfect if the shop was a bit more generous on pork meat chunks. Omelet 계란말이 goes perfectly with the Kimch Jjigae 김치찌개, so make sure you try them. The place is a matchbox, so don't expect candlelight dinner here.
TYS — Google review
A hidden gem for hearty tasty kimchi jjigae. The kimchi jjigae is precooked & served in pots, heated up on the stove at each table. The meat was chunky & the broth tangy. The ladies serving us were very friendly. It’s hidden at a back alley, look for the road sign Saemunan-ro 7-gil. The space is limited so do avoid lunch peak hours if possible.
BuiKim — Google review
A small hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurant that has been serving kimchi stew for decades. This place has remained unchanged and unpretentious and serves kimchi stew with succulent pork belly and some sides, but I highly recommend also getting the omelette to pair with the kimchi stew. This place is not fancy be warned, but the food is simple, hearty, unpretentious and most importantly, delicious! Note that the restaurant is hidden in an alley way but not hard to miss. It only accepts cash (I think) and there is no English menu but they only serve 3 items so just order all of them :)
JH L — Google review
It was such a unique experience, eating my favorite Korean kimchi soup in a tiny, old restaurant. This place is homey and charming. The food was so simple and good.

If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Hongdae, Yookji is the place to be! This popular meat restaurant is renowned for its mouthwatering 'Dondae Galbi,' which tends to sell out by lunchtime, so plan accordingly. However, fear not—other cuts of meat are equally delightful. The sesame oil noodles come highly recommended as well. What sets Yookji apart is the attentive staff who grill your meat right at your table, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable meal.
The food is really good and well priced and to top it off, I love the graphic design of this place! I wish I could buy merch here 😊 Their one dipping sauce is really delicious. We also got the perilla noodles and the soondubu 😋

Now when I come back to review only I see the trend of the reviewers? Fake? Most reviewers have less than 3 reviews ? I don't find the staff friendly at all..the price is also expensive and the portions are so small. Yeah, the side dish is kind of pathetic. You can find a better place down the road.

It’s super duper delicious! The meat is super juicy and the steamed egg! WOW love it!
Nah Y — Google review
The absolute best cuts of meat I have ever had in my 30 years of life. - 10/10 would come every time I’m in Seoul. - 10/10 would recommend everyone come when they’re in the vicinity. - 10/10 would recommend to visit even if no where near. The first piece of meat gave me an existential crisis. Due to the sad events of 29 Dec, there won’t be fireworks to usher in the New Year but the fireworks appeared in my mouth as I took my first bite. Edit to provide more information: - 4 pax - no reservation on NYE - arrived at about 8:20pm, seated before 8:50pm, food on table by 8:56pm. - Was given a heads up at entry that last order was @ 9:20pm and they close @ 10pm. - ordered 2 servings of pork belly (ultimate flavour burst), 1 serving of pork shoulder, 1 serving of blade meat and 2 servings of marinated spareribs. With seafood soybean soup and fluffy egg on the side. All in all a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back again.

Good quality Korean pork, delicious side dishes. Good service, even has mouth wash in the toilet - that’s a nice touch. :)

GOOD bbq place that lies on a beautiful street, very good service, young crews and super friendly personality, the girl in green cap asked where we were from, felt really nice to meet tourist friendly place, and also waitress who enjoys her job is very rare these days, love the meat, good price for good meat and nice people, side dishes was a bomb, the citric kimchi is unforgettable, i cleaned up all their side dishes, this place is easy to find, walkable from exit 3 of hapjeong and after ur meal u could walk a little to hongdae market, be there early to avoid queue as u need a korean number to reserve a seat, we were there around 5plus, when we were done with food there was already a q, but i believe the crew will just help u out even if u do not have korean number, thats how much i appreciate their staffs, good job, keep it up.

Myeongdong Korean BBQ All You Can Eat Pig Company is a must-visit in Seoul for those craving authentic Korean BBQ. This all-you-can-eat restaurant offers a great value, with various sets to choose from and unlimited drinks. The traditional way of grilling meat and wrapping it in lettuce makes for an unforgettable dining experience. Located on the 2nd floor, it may be easy to miss among the ground floor fried chicken restaurants, but the discovery is well worth it.
We had an incredible time! Everything weve had is an experience. Really appreciate as well the responsive staff. Loved that there were many meat selections and side dishes. I would love to visit this place again! ☺

The pork belly in Korea is on another level! 🥓🔥 It’s so juicy and flavorful, especially when grilled right at the table. I loved wrapping it with lettuce, garlic, and a bit of ssamjang — the perfect bite every time. The texture was crispy on the outside but super tender inside. You can really taste the quality of the meat. Pair it with some soju and it’s perfection.

Finally found my go-to pork! The pork is thick and perfectly smoky without being greasy. The pork chops are always juicy and never tough. You can really taste the quality difference. Highly recommend for an easy, delicious meal. Great value for the quality.

This is truly the best Korean BBQ in Myeongdong! The meat quality is incredible, everything is super fresh, and the flavors are amazing. The staff is friendly, attentive, and cooks everything perfectly. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. If you’re in Myeongdong, you must try this place—absolutely worth it!

Big spaces. Affordable and worth it for the price for the foods. Similar price for one portion of samgyeopsal if you eat in a non buffet place. second visit after the hongdae branch. The fried chicken is also so yums! Not the frozen food type. Recommended! And we love the pork rinds!!! Must try~

Known for its marinated pork galbi grilled over charcoal, this eatery also offers an array of traditional dishes like tteokbokki, bibimbap, and their standout spicy seafood sujebi. The atmosphere is casual and bustling, making it a perfect spot to enjoy hearty meals with friends or family after exploring nearby attractions like Gyeongbokgung Palace.
Authentic noodle shop in korea. Price is really cheap. The noodles were great also the dumplings. Ambience is a typical family owned shop.
Philip L — Google review
Casual & Busy place, serving authentic local food. Most of the locals are seen having chives pancake and noodles soup. We had the seafood pancake and bibimomil (dry spicy noodles) - both were tasty and very filling.

A local, family-style Korean BBQ restaurant offering a variety of traditional marinated meats including pork, beef, chicken, and mutton. They also serve classic Korean dishes like tteokbokki, egg pancake, bibimbap, and more. Prices are reasonable, service is decent, and the overall taste is satisfying. A good spot for a casual, local Korean dining experience.

Their spicy seafood sujebi was very good, spicy, tasty with the mantou skins. We also tried the pancake which was their specialty. This place provides free flow of kimchi but watch out as it was one of the the spiciest kimchi we tried. Overall a very good place for a hearty local meal. This is a old restaurant so expect the interior to reflect its old age.

Enjoyed the local Korean lunch here after a visit to the famous Gyeongbokgung Palace. Loved the neighbourhood feel, small and helpful people there. Ordered the popular noodles and pancake which both are super nice, also the side dish of their kimchi is very good as well. Bravo 👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻

Sinchon Hwangso Gopchang is a beloved eatery in the Sinchon area, boasting an impressive 60 years of culinary expertise. This bustling spot features three levels, though it can feel quite crowded during peak hours, especially on weekends. Diners are treated to delicious dishes prepared right before their eyes, although the menu lacks English translations which may pose a challenge for non-Korean speakers. A popular choice among locals, it's known for its authentic flavors and quality ingredients.
I love this place, they have such a delicious meat and the raw liver is delicious! With combination of soju and beer (소맥) I love to eat there.

Good customer service. The fresh beef liver are big surprise to me, you should try at least once because it’s hard to found in other places. Personally I like the fried rice most, it mixed with kimchi and seaweeds.

Not my favorite type of bbq because it's so fatty but I'm giving it 5 stars for the very nice service the aunty gave us. Thank you! Intestine bbq is really is a specialty in Korea, we've tried a few other famous places before but this one definitely has very high quality ingredients. My only complaint is that the seasoning was not enough - maybe that's more due to the restaurant's own style.
Natthakul — Google review
Gopchang ia super delicious food in korea and i am so addicted to it after trying this restaurant. It's on a very peaceful alley near centre of Seoul, not very crowded during the day. The gopchang has been cleaned up and marinated, served with salad and chives. The staff will do everything for you until the gopchang is ok eat. You don't have to do anything but just eating the gopchang 💌💌💌 you'll gonna love the taste of it, so beautifully grilled with chives and served with vegies. When you almost finish the pan, they will fried the rest gopchang with white rice. So delicious 🌸 These are the photos i took before my meal, so beautiful. I recommend this place. But make sure you don't wear light color shirts or pants and you don't go anywhere formal aftwr the meal 😅😅 you know grilled dishes will make you smell so awful 🙆🏻‍♂️

Don’t look anywhere else. There’s about 5-10 different entrails bbq store but this one is legit and tasty! Best way to order if you don’t speak any Korean is to show any of the photos from google. We ended up getting a combo and got fried rice at the end. Can’t wait to go back!

Got recommended by this on Instagram & it totally hit the spot!! They accept credit card! We came on a Friday around 6pm & waited ~15 mins for a table. If you come later on Sat/Sun, you’ll likely wait up to 30mins for a table. We ordered the 2 main dishes - Gamjatang & Braised Pig Trotters. For 2 pax & below, highly recommend you choose 1 only - They’re fairly big portions. For 2 pax & above, go for both! The Gamjatang is quite spicy so if you can’t handle spice, ask for less spicy. Waitresses speaks decent English so they’ll understand! We paid SGD$68 for 2 of the main dishes - Expensive but so so worth it! Will be back for sure

Quaint traditional shop located in a small alley. Melt in the mouth caramelized pork! Hearty pork bone, chives and beansprout soup that taste like shin ramen on steroids. Perhaps come in a group of at least 3-4 people as servings are large.

Best meal of my trip so far. Michelin rated restaurant and I know why. Only two dishes to get but they have really perfected the art.

The best jokbal I’ve tried. The meat is so tender that it falls apart when you try to pick it up. Perfectly seasoned and honestly I understand why it’s been in the Michelin guide of seoul for the past 7 years. The food is just unbeatable. From the moment they brought it over to our table to when we stopped eating it took 15 minutes to finish. Perfect combination with somak ( soju mixed with beer). I honestly can’t wait to try this again. 10/10

A tiny place, deep in the corner of a small alley. Known for Korean pig's feet (jokbal) and potato soup with pig backbone (gamjatang), this is a great experience for those wanting to get a taste of what a traditional Korean "mom and pop" eatery looks like. It even has a Michelin rating. Food was very good, though the spicy gamjatang may not be for everyone. I wasn't a big fan of jokbal sitting out in the open, but I'm not at a 5-Star hotel. Service was very prompt and courteous.

The price was lower in comparison with other BBQ meals we have had during our time in Seoul. However, the menu is written in Korean only (No Image) and the staff didnt seem to be much interested in making it easier for us as foreigners when we were struggling to make sense of what costs 18,000 won or 16,000 won. Restaurant
Insadong Hangane Bulgogi Jumak is a popular spot in Korea known for its delicious bulgogi, a well-known Korean BBQ dish. The restaurant offers set meals with various side dishes like banchan and doenjang-jjigae vegetable soup. Customers can opt for different meal options, each including unlimited banchan. The place is often crowded with locals and office workers during lunchtime, offering fast service and friendly staff. Payment options are limited to cash or Korean cards.
Excellent service! Excellent delicious food! Tons of side dishes that are super fresh and crunchy! Comes with a soup made of tofu, radish and beef. One of my favorite restaurants in Korea! Definitely worth the visit!!
K B — Google review
Everything was fine, not memorable. I definitely noticed the difference in banchan selection from the average Korean bbq spot but BEWARE that the photos you see, are dishes that they have available on different days and different seasons. Don’t expect to find them all like we did. We were disappointed as the top two things we really wanted to try here weren’t available so we settled. Also, I really wish they would let people know that they take lunch break at 3pm so they won’t plan to come around this time. The English is not too great but we managed. The ladies who work here are very enthusiastic and helpful! There’s a variety of seating from communal tables in the middle to traditional seating on the floor and little booths which is where we sat. It added to the experience and I loved it, but my elderly and tall dad, not so much. Also, the restaurant is at the bottom of a long case of stairs so not too accessible. All in all, ok experience but wouldn’t return.

This place is a gem. There's seatings where you sit on the floor with no shoes, and feel like you're taken back in time. The decor is retro. You get a bunch of side dishes which are all unique and absolutely delicious. I liked the side dishes more than the tteok!

ORDERED (JUL 2025): 🐄 Korean-styled barbecued (bulgogi) beef medium (₩33,000 / ~$37aud) REVIEW: Price has gone up. We still had to order "2" of the same portions. Side quality... isn't the same as before. We had some kimchi, red beans, chive pancake, seasoned seaweed. I preferred the sides I had last time, but it's good to know Insadong Hangane Bulgogi Jumak swap out their sides! It's still easy to visit and you'll be full on their food. We walked in and easily got a table for two! 😊 ----- ORDERED (NOV 2024): 🐄 Korean-styled barbecued (bulgogi) beef course (200g) (19,000₩ / $22aud pp) REVIEW: ✌ This portion was doubled for two. I think they wanted us to get the same set... as opposed to different (minor language barrier). Although we wanted the chive pancake as well, luckily, the staff convinced us against it because the Bulgogi beef course was more than enough. As others have said, the banchan/sides are the best we've had in Seoul. Amazingly, it mimics similar flavours in Melbourne with some new additions like: crunchy cucumber, seasoned lotus root, and tofu. 🤤 Beef isn't as good as Melbourne (seemed chewier and less beef flavour), but the bulgogi flavouring is great. 💟 🏮 The vibes are immaculate. Going downstairs, it feels local (the Korean signs, the interesting decor). There were a couple of tourists there, so it's definitely tourist friendly! You may need to go with very basic English, though. They have really attentive service. ❤ Insadong Hangane Bulgogi Jumak is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a place for great quality, affordable food and friendly service for tourists. I would come back!

Luis P — Google review
Located in the basement of the building, we were looking forward to bulgogi (not in the soup). We arrived on a Monday 6pm and it was 30% full so we were seated right away. The food was fine and priced reasonably. But the lack of Air Conditioning made the experience a bit uncomfortable. The banchan was the best part with a wide array of items.
Steven S — Google review
I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of one of my best friends. I was expecting more because i heard it is popular with office workers nearby during lunchtime... but I am also satisfied. I ate the "set meal(정식세트)" ₩12,000. The main dish served every day is different (bossam meat(보쌈고기) and kimchi stew on Friday), and all the side dishes were delicious. Once you order, the food comes out super fast. It would be nice to order after everyone is seated. When you go out to eat alone, go after 1:30 pm so you won't have to wait in line and you'll be able to eat comfortably. Except main dish(보쌈고기), you can ask refill as much as you wanted.

Nestled in the vibrant Jongno-gu district of Seoul, Gimjinmoksam is a must-visit destination for BBQ enthusiasts. This restaurant specializes in expertly grilled pork, certified by Handon, with their standout dish being the succulent grilled pork shoulder. On my first day in South Korea, I was thrilled to discover this gem just a stone's throw from my Airbnb.
No doubt the best pork bbq we've had. We ordered the pork belly, pork shoulder and pork neck, which were the only 3 meat items on the menu :) the cold noodle was great too. And very affordable. Definitely recommend coming if you're in the vicinity. ❤️🤍💚🖤🍉

A Must-Visit BBQ Spot in Jongno – Gimjinmoksam We visited Gimjinmoksam on the very first day of our arrival in South Korea, and it quickly became our favorite restaurant of the entire trip. Conveniently located near our Airbnb in Jongno, I had actually looked it up a week before our departure and was excited to try it—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the pork belly, pork neck, and pork jowl, and every single cut was incredibly delicious. You could instantly tell the quality of the meat was top-notch. Each cut was prepared with a precise lattice pattern and seasoned with coarse salt before grilling, which enhanced both the texture and flavor beautifully. What really elevated the experience was the service. Our waiter not only grilled the meat for us with skill and care, but also explained how to best enjoy each type. The attention to detail and warm hospitality made us feel right at home. We loved it so much, we ended up going back a second time—this time to Gimjinmoksam 2, a smaller location not too far from the original. Despite the size, the quality and experience were just as impressive. If you're anywhere near Jongno, this place is an absolute must-try for a fantastic Korean BBQ experience!

Specialized in pork, as evidenced by its limited menu - and that's a good thing! Like the complete opposite of cheesecake factory. We got one of each of the offerings of shoulder, belly and jowl - the jowl being my personal favorite. Reservation ahead of time because there was a small wait at dinnertime! I personally like beef more but my wife said this was the best pork she's tasted

Very professional atmosphere, they do all the cooking for you and like I said are very informative on their dishes.

my favourite meal in seoul; I make it a point to come here with every trip :) bimbimbap is so fragrant w the sesame oil and the rice to topping ratio is perfect. tried the kimchi stew this time and it was on par w their bibimbap. very rich; amazing on a cold day. their side dishes are also also lovely and complement the mains well

Although the Bibimbap comes with lots of vege but the taste is bland. Overall just taste so so only, not my favourite. I personally prefer the Bibimbap from Bxxjuk and it comes with more variety. The restaurant is small and compact.
Avelynn — Google review
Lovely local place known for the bimbimbap. Came here for brunch and it was just perfect, good flavours and plenty of side dishes to compliment. Those that mention the food being bland, probably didn't add the chilli sauce which adds plenty of flavour and it's not very spicy. Fast friendly service and a great start to the day.
Scott C — Google review
We had high hopes for this restaurant but we never have had so tasteless Bibimbap in our lives. The food looked good but didn't taste....Sadly the worst food we ate in Seoul, so I'd recommend other places rather than this.
JR — Google review
We were disappointed with our visit in November. As foreign tourists, the service felt unwelcoming... Like others have mentioned, we were simply asked “Bibimbap?” upon entering, without being given a menu to see the other options first. Then, our order took a long time, and the staff seemed indifferent when serving us. We were quiet and respectful, just hoping to enjoy some traditional veggie bibimbap, but the dish itself was bland and difficult to finish. Unfortunately, not a good experience overall.
L J — Google review
Getting off on the right foot in my first day in South Korea. Found this place in a carefully curated list of restaurants and it exceeded expectations. Besides of the delicious food and fair prices, it’s an authentic local experience. Strongly recommended.
Julio A — Google review
Went around 40 minutes before closing time and was rudely served by the grandma as if we stopped her from closing the restaurant. Was not given a menu but instead just asked us “bibimbap?” despite us ideally wanting 1 bibimbap and another dish to share. Food was a bit flat and not amazing. Good that it was a fresh however seasoning was lacking. We were also rushed to finish our meal despite it being very hot and they kept hovering to push us out which ruined the experience. We rushed our meal and when we left the restaurant, they slammed the door straight away. Would not go back here.
Bianca H — Google review
It was not obvious where this place was when we came here. But the guy at the restaurant next door basically just pointed for us to enter the door to the right... ha! So here we are. The woman working here gestured for us to sit down. She asked if we wanted the bibimbap and we said "yes, two". And that was about it! The bibimbap is packed with lovely veggies and comes with some pickled (? maybe?) sardines and kimchi and Gochujang sauce. It was pretty good!

They don't speak English & there is no English menu either. I read some reviews & found some pictures so I just ordered by showing the pictures, which is 1 Pork Jeon & 1 Makgeolli. The local couple asked me where I found the pictures 😄 They also told me that the makgeolli which I ordered is very strong. I hesitate to change so I just told them that's fine as my hotel is just opposite 😅 But it is true that this makgeolli is strong, less sweet & clearer compared to other makgeolli. The pork Jeon is good. Make sure you dip with the egg York + vinegar sauce. There are 2 side dishes & 1 clam soup (I return the soup as I don't want to take seafood). All costs me 31,000 won

Euljiro Soup Tteokbokki Myeongdong Branch is a must-visit spot in Seoul, dedicated to serving the iconic Korean street food dish, tteokbokki. The restaurant offers an authentic dining experience with its signature soup tteokbokki, featuring a perfect balance of spicy and savory flavors. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it a favorite among both locals and tourists.
A nice hideaway from the hustle and hustle of Myeongdong's busy streets. The prices are reasonable, it's very clean, and the worker was kind. Definitely Come here if you need a break and want some delicious Korean street food!

Located in the heart of Myeongdong, I had walked by a few times before deciding to try it out. The food was very reasonably priced (2 rolls of gimbap for 3000 won), and the portion sizes were very generous! It's very easy to order and pay with the machine and the food came very quickly. Great for if you enjoy korean street food.

First time in Korea and saw this place come up on NAVER! Friendly staff made it easy for us to order , you can either pay by card on the kiosk or by cash at the register! So pleasant and the food was soo good! Big portions so great for sharing, we got cheese tteokbokki, the 8piece fried set and kimbap, fresh to order, didn’t wait long! Overall great experience :)

Cozy atmosphere, efficient service & good tteokbokki! The soup broth has a lot of flavor and there is also some fish cake in it. You can choose your spiciness level from 1 to 4 (if you come from a country where people don’t eat spicy, except if you really like it hot, level 1 is more than enough ;))

It's a very solid place when it comes to comfort food. I did however, have better tteobokki in Japan. The fries king squid was amazing though. Good batter flavour. Huge portions as well, making my 22,500W meal quite value oriented.

Haechan Songhak Laver Seaweed and Kimchi Manufacturer is a delightful destination for those eager to explore the art of Korean culinary traditions. This engaging venue offers visitors an insightful tour showcasing how seaweed is harvested from the ocean and transformed into delicious products. Guests can enjoy interactive experiences, such as making kimchi and kimbap, while sampling various flavors of their delectable seaweed.
We enjoyed the tour about how laver is harvested from the ocean and processed in this clean looking factory. They were generous with the samples of their products which was delicious! The prices were reasonable with offer of buying 5 packets and getting 1 free. Our tour group all bought and I am very satisfied! Highly recommend.

A tourist selling place, a place to sell product to tourists, a marketing tour, or whatever it's called. It's the kind of place arranged by tour operator to visit with the objective to sell tourists their products. If you've been to one, you know it. Usually involves presentation and tour. I'd say they put in a good effort, the place is some kind of simpler museum with displays on how to make seaweed etc including diorama, which is quite interesting. They are don't hesitate with their tasting, and there is even a big area for free hanbook experience, posing with Korean traditional clothes, and... squid game clothes. Of course I picked the squid game one. Too bad the pink color is wrong. There are presentation rooms where they pass around products to try. They will even package them nicely for you to bring back overseas. The products are fresh, come with good variety in medium to high price range. There are discounts for bulk buys.

a great experiences in one place, you can know how to make a seaweed, trying to make a kimchi, wearing a hanbok and also tried their samgyetang. their seaweed has so many flavors and it’s so yummy, you can tried it first before bought it. you can wearing a hanbok too and taking a photo inside their studio, but it’s so crowded and I think the style is the way better when you’re rent around the palaces. and also, their samgyetang was so good too. but their portions is more better when you’re sharing with 2 or 3 peoples, it’s too much for me. but overall it’s really good

Gopchang restaurant
Korean restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Jung-gu, Jangho Wanggopchang is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Korean barbecue, particularly Gopchang, which are grilled intestines. However, what truly steals the spotlight here is their Kimchi Jjigae. This dish stands out with its distinctively sour flavor profile that showcases the essence of aged kimchi—an experience that many locals adore.
My favorite reastaurant of Kimchi soup. Sour taste is strong enough and that is like a crack. Warning to Foreiners. This taste is absolutely good for original Koreans.

(Translated by Google) Jangho King Gopchang in Seosomun, which I used to frequent, was closed due to redevelopment. I heard a long time ago that he was related to the owner there. The taste of Seodaemun here was a bit inferior compared to Seosomun kimchi stew in the past. The kimchi taste is a bit bitter rather than refreshing, and the quality of the pork seems to be poor. Now there are branches in many places, and the taste is different at each branch. I missed the kimchi stew at Seosomun branch even more, which I ate as soon as I arrived from Incheon Airport on a rainy summer day. Rakkojae Seoul Main Hanok is a unique boutique hotel in Seoul, offering a blend of modern innovation and traditional Korean charm. The hotel is comprised of classic Korean houses arranged as a village, providing guests with an authentic living experience amidst bamboo and pine trees, ponds, rustic alleys, and old-world courtyards. The warm quarters in the traditional Korean building offer a serene atmosphere for guests to enjoy.
Step into the tranquility of a typical Korean ancient house or Hanok surrounded by Zen vibes in the middle of a bustling city. Simple but high quality toiletries all provided, the bed was extremely comfortable even though it was on the floor, comes with floor heating and even ac if you find it too stuffy. We were greeted by a nice uncle who speaks Korean, English and Mandarin fluently. We could also put down our luggage upon arrival and also at check out, just take note of their operating hours as they take great lengths to not disturb the guests after dark. We wanted a traditional Korean experience and got exactly what we wanted. 10/10 would return and not leave the property for the whole stay.

This place was such a pleasure to stay at. I was only here for my last night in Seoul but will definitely book a stay for longer on my next trip to SK. The hospitality and food were so good. They bring a welcome tea service to your room when you check in. They also serve a traditional Korean breakfast delivered to your room in the morning. Everything was delicious. The grounds were also very beautiful and they have Hanboks that you can wear and take pictures for no extra charge. This hotel is in walking to many great bakeries , restaurants and viral attraction. I definitely recommend staying here on your next trip to Seoul. It’s worth it.

Definitely one of the best ways to experience a historic Hanok when visiting Seoul, very much worth the price. The main Rakkojae is nestled in a little back alley in a residential pocket of Bukchon. Quiet, private and not too hard to get around via transit (either metro or various buses - You will likely get to experience the #2 green mini-bus {fun when not busy}). Included breakfast is filling and traditional, delivered with a smile in the early morning at your requested time. Definitely request a time to sweat in the sauna, let the slow build of heat open your pores. Service is top notch and amenities are superb. Might as well go for the classical choice when hanoking right?

🌿 Rakkojae Seoul Hanok – A Must-Must-Must Visit! 🌿 Rakkojae Seoul Hanok is an ✨absolute must-visit✨ for anyone traveling to Seoul! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect—the host was incredibly 🤝 responsive and accommodating, making sure we had the best experience possible. 🏡 The hanok itself is stunning, with a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. I had initially thought sleeping in a hanok might be uncomfortable, but I was completely wrong! The 🔥 ondol (heated floor) was amazing, keeping us warm and cozy even in freezing temperatures (-1°C outside, but toasty warm inside). 🍽️ Another highlight? The food is beyond delicious! Every meal was thoughtfully prepared, full of authentic flavors, and truly one of the best culinary experiences of our trip. 💖 The customer service is next level—they even provide 🍜 free instant noodle, snack, 💧 bottled water, and facial masks in the room, taking extra care of every small detail to make us feel comfortable and well taken care of. 📍 The location is super convenient—taxis 🚖 can easily arrive and be booked, and there’s a 🚏 bus stop right at the entrance of the alley. The area is also very safe, with police presence nearby, and it’s walkable to many famous palaces (Goong) and other attractions, making sightseeing effortless. 💬 What truly sets Rakkojae apart is the exceptional hospitality. The staff speaks fluent English, making everything smooth and easy. Their warmth and attention to detail made our stay unforgettable, and I honestly wish I could have stayed longer. ⭐ This hanok stay is a must-try experience for anyone visiting Korea! I will definitely book again next time! If you’re looking for an authentic yet comfortable hanok stay, Rakkojae Seoul is the place to be! 🌸✨

Rakkojae Hanok in Bukchon village was exactly as advertised. the room and hanok looked just like the examples in the museums and historic villages we visited. The rooms are heated and cooled. The heating is through the traditional floor heating, supplemented with radiant heating. The rooms have a modern attachment that includes the closets and bathroom. The bathroom has all of the amenities that will be found in a modern hotel. The refrigerator was kept stocked with water, coffee, and snacks - all included with the room. When you walk into the room or look from the outside, the addition is not easily noticed. Each room has a call button for the manager. She appeared within a couple of minutes anytime we called her. Everyone was very attentive. The hanok is beautiful, charming and well located in the village. We recommend Rakkojae Hanok to everyone.
William N — Google review
This is a tough one: On one hand, this is a lovely place to stay and the descriptions are all accurate. On the other hand, we kept wondering whether we should have stayed elsewhere. Simply put: we questioned the value for money. As stated, the hanok is traditionally appointed, spotless, provides excellent service and breakfast, as well as is in a good location for exploring the Bukchon area, the palace, as well as Insa-dong. However, it came at a price tag only marginally below the Park Hyatt in Gangnam and above some other 5 star hotels in Seoul. And for that money, we felt that the bathroom should have been a lot more spacious and taller, the mattresses less worn out, more modern amenities provided (USB outlets, dimmers, master switches near the bed), and more services included (complementary full mini bar, walking tours, etc). Our experience felt a bit like glamping at a considerable cost. Bottom line, you can have a great traditional Korean experience in a very convenient location here. But you’re paying $100+ just for that. And in our mind, it’s simply not worth it. You’d be better off staying at a nicer hotel and explore the traditional life through the many tea houses and open galleries in the area.

Excellent service from the lady waitress who also had very good English. Food came out lightning speed. Place is clean. They only serve beef for the kbbq here. Very nice quality, thin sliced. You have to first order 300g of 1 type of beef, then u can order whatever else you want. Meat was super tender and had nice marbling on it. Each bite was so easy to eat. This unique restaurant stands out not only for its delicious food but also because it’s owned by a famous local comedian and former wrestler, adding a fun twist to your dining experience.
A bit pricey, but eat here & order the pork belly & beef belly. They also give you a free bottled water & their kimchi is to die for.
Jon M — Google review
An authentic Korean barbecue restaurant owned by a former wrestler and a comic television host. He started the restaurant chain in his own name. Delicious and quality food is served here for all vegetarian and non vegetarian. Anyone who visits Seoul must try this place.
Jerome E — Google review
Extremely poor customer service with rude staff. Throwing tongs onto the table when they were told we wanted to cook it ourselves and then giving indirect attitude and glares throughout the whole dining experience is just immature and unprofessional. The whole dining experience was just bad and annoying. If you want to be treated poorly then come visit this place otherwise learn from us and do your research before coming here. NEVER would I recommend this place to anyone.
Jason H — Google review
No service at all...the staff don’t talk..like almost irritated. Food quality is normal, won’t go back again. I believe there are many more better korean bbq restaurants in the area.

The service is sucks and the food pricey and does not meet the quality. Pls dont come here. U will regret it.

Hidden cameras are everywhere. Services are bad. Food is dull. They are good at deleting bad comments. So hilarious.

(Translated by Google) The pork barbecue is quite OK and tastes like pork satay in Indonesia. Service is not OK. (Original) Barbeque babi nya cukup OK dan rasanya seperti sate babi di Indonesia. Pelayanan kurang OK.

26Ginseng Chicken Soup

When it comes to Korean cuisine, ginseng chicken soup is a must-try dish. This traditional Korean delicacy features tender chicken stuffed with rice and ginseng, creating a flavorful and nourishing broth. It's often served alongside other popular dishes like kimchi jjigae, bulgogi, and bibimbap. You can find this dish in local eateries throughout Korea, where the staff are known for their attentive service and willingness to assist non-Korean speakers.
I had an amazing experience at Korea Ginseng Chicken Soup (고려삼계탕), a Michelin-rated restaurant in Seoul! The ginseng chicken soup, was absolutely delightful, the broth was rich and aromatic, the tender whole chicken stuffed with glutinous rice felt like a warm hug from the inside. Initially, the ginseng flavor was subtle, but as I dug deeper into the chicken, the herbal aroma blossomed beautifully in the soup, making each spoonful even more satisfying. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, the traditional preparation made it a memorable meal. It’s easy to see why this place earned Michelin recognition.💯

Good and traditional tasting Korea Ginseng Chicken soup. Although there are few options in choices of chicken soup but the quality of the soup made up for the lack of variety. The shop has a very Ancient architecture. Immediately feel being transported to ancient Korea the moment you step inside. A must-try for those so wish to taste authentic Korea Ginseng Chicken soup when in Seoul.

I stopped by for a bowl of ginseng soup and had an okay experience. The soup itself was soothing and perfect for the cold weather. However, I wasn't too fond of the rice stuffing inside the chicken - it would've been better if I could've enjoyed the chicken and rice separately. Maybe offering an option to get the chicken soup and plain rice on the side would be a good idea? The fried chicken was decent, not too salty. Overall, it was a good way to warm up on a chilly day. Would recommend the hot soup for a cozy treat!

Went there on my 2nd day and order one ginseng chicken together with the oyster soup for 2 people. Ginseng chicken was okie, but Oyster soup was pretty good. Went back on my 4th day as i wanted some hot ginseng soup again. But this time one of the lady said that i must order 2 ginseng set cause there are 2 people and refuse to let me order the same order that I had. . End up we just walk away

The ginseng chicken soup in Seoul was a comforting but unremarkable experience. The presentation was classic — a small whole chicken served piping hot in a stone pot, the broth milky from long simmering and perfumed with ginseng, garlic, and jujube. The rice stuffed inside the bird gave the dish a hearty texture and mild sweetness, while the tender chicken fell apart easily. It was nourishing and traditional, the sort of meal that feels restorative on a cold day. However, the overall flavor profile leaned towards the subtle rather than the memorable. The ginseng aroma added depth but not much excitement, and without strong seasoning, the soup risked tasting a bit flat after a few spoonfuls. It was a satisfying cultural experience more than a culinary revelation — good for the body, perhaps less so for the palate.

Spicy chicken was good. Big portion enough for 2-3 people. Staff is very responsive and helps with little English and shows you how to correctly eat it. Seems like it can get pretty busy too
Rodolfo A — Google review
They serve very tasty oyster soup rice. Ginseng chicken soup is their signature with rice wrapped in the chicken.

Ginseng Chicken Soup - meat taste like frozen chicken and not tender. No taste of Ginseng at all (only managed to find one miserable section of a cut small ginseng). The variation I ordered with abalone, and abalone taste hard and chewy. Taste just like chicken soup (NOT Ginseng Chicken soup!). Nothing special...
