Brunch restaurant
Venzamas is a charming brunch cafe situated in Gyeongju, away from the bustling tourist spots on Hwangnidan street. Accessible by foot rather than car, this popular spot seamlessly combines modern buildings with traditional Korean architecture and countryside surroundings. Visitors also rave about the unique bathroom experience that adds to the overall relaxation of the place.
Pet friendly (only outside), the food was pretty good. Parking is spacious which is a big plus for me and for tourists. The place is divided in many sections, the one with brunch was at the end. Staff were friendly :) probably come back if Im near kyong ju

Absolutely dissapointed! It looks like cool fancy place, but in fact it just regular cafe. The prices are quite high for everything. My coffee was discussing 😦 it taste like cheap coffee from convenient store. Ice cream looks so poor as for 10$. Be honest, I was excited high quality brunch, but I've got terrible food and coffee.
AlexKim S — Google review
Very large cafe with lots of parking and seating. Brunch was good, but some items were off. Bagel not toasted. Not breakfast sausage. Bacon not crispy. Weird bitter side salad. Revisit (reducing to 2 stars): the chicken breast salad is not good. Bitter greens, a chicken breast, and chunks of grapefruit and orange. Like wth is that? And W12,000??? Everything is too Koreanized. 😞
Doug H — Google review
Exotic place in Kyungju! Don't forget before leaving, You should go to the BATHROOM! LOL. The bathroom makes you relax.
Kay K — Google review
Good food and coffee. A little bit pricey, but a great Western-style brunch. There is sweet French toast, a mozzarella sandwich, brunch, steak salad etc.
Jonathan H — Google review
Nice Cafe, modern design, good tasting brunch, quantity was ok, the beef salad was delicious though but a little pricy.
Daan M — Google review
Great coffee and drink place. I ordered the watermelon shaveice and grape juice. They both taste good. The underground B1 floor has the no-kids zone, perfect for couple or adults to spend the afternoon/night together.

Seasoning is an Italian fusion restaurant located in a traditional Korean hanok, offering a quiet and cozy atmosphere. The signature dish, "aseasoning pasta," puts a unique spin on the traditional Indonesian migoren by incorporating it into pasta, resulting in a flavorful and spicy sauce that complements the chewy noodles. While known for its original pasta dishes, Seasoning also offers tasty options like Kuro rice.
Went the first time by chance and enjoyed it so much that I had to return to eat the same dish (risotto). The staff are very friendly and speak english, the food is amazing and the space is cozy and relaxing. It were probably the best meals I had in South Korea! Great quality for the value!
Pedro F — Google review
Went for dinner on a weekday night. No wait with plenty of seating options and great ambience. Tried their Ragu pasta and seasoning risotto. The ragu pasta was delicious and flavourful. For the risotto, the waiter kindly informed us about the spice level (around shin ramyeon level) and adjusted it to a non spicy version so we could still enjoy it. I think if you can handle a bit of spice, it would definitely enhance its flavour!
Edwina — Google review
Had the Seasoning Risotto and Poutine. Good flavour and texture for the Risotto. Staff was friendly and able to warn me about the spice level by referencing Shin ramyeon. Menu is available in English.
Desmond K — Google review
Very tasty food in a well refined hanok style restaurant. We were served for a late lunch at 3 PM. If you want to switch from local cuisine and try something fusion, it is the right place to stop by.
Giuseppe S — Google review
Tasty enough. Curry rice was good, truffle spaghetti also not bad. Poutine was more like fries in a Bolognese sauce, not gravy. Flavor aside, the portions are way too small. A grown man such as myself can easily handle two portions of anything here. They must be making a killing. But in some sense, most women are dieting so it's better than letting food go to waste. And such restaurants are always targeting women and hapless boyfriends/husbands.
Michel L — Google review
Nice meal in Korea traditional house. Mostly taste of food is like based on japanese and east asian food. But truffle pasta is little bland.

Restaurant
Pizaok is a must-visit cafe in Gyeongju, Busan that offers a delightful fusion of Italian cuisine and traditional hanoks. Upon entering, the tantalizing aroma from the kitchen sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu boasts a variety of pizzas and pastas, with options like crusty focaccia bread pizza and flavorful pepperoni pizza. The cozy and calm atmosphere, along with friendly staff, creates a welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy their meals.
Excellent pizza. Best in 황리단길 (albeit a bit expensive). Add: Service isn't very welcoming. But sit by the window and you can see people in the park.
Doug H — Google review
They were very unkind with our baby. Food was quite bad, we ordered pizza and risotto. These were not tasty at all, like a bunch of ingredients cooked together without any sense and a lot of spicy at all. They shall not use names as pizza or risotto since they are not cooking these dishes. Only good thing was beer. Total price 50,000 KRW we may have spent in other place.
Adrián C — Google review
Pizza was good, definitely try out the truffle one, soooo good. The pasta and other dishes are just alright. Overall it was pretty decent, you can order from the iPad so if you can’t speak Korean you’ll be fine!
Brandon L — Google review
The pizza was ELITE, like literally the greatest pizza I have tasted.
_ H — Google review
Definitely overpriced. The food was mid but definitely overpriced for Korean standards. Be prepared for a lightly sweet pizza and weird topping choices like a Pizza Hawaii with onions.
GCD — Google review
Great pizza and pasta. The pizza's and pasta's are an Asian take on the classic dishes: some dishes are spicy (but it's very clear on the menu). It was surprisingly good. They also have craft beer on draft, i really liked it.
Daryl W — Google review
So tasty
Dor A — Google review
The pizza I had, was a korean twist on pizza which I did not enjoy. However my mate had the same thing and loved it. My warning the pizza has egg on it and kinda tastes sweet. I did get a little adventurous, next time I'll buy something more traditional.

Cafe
Bichkkuli is a popular traditional tea house in Gyeongju known for its Instagrammable beauty and authentic hanok setting. Visitors are required to remove their shoes before entering the peaceful atmosphere of the hanok, where seating on the ground offers an authentic tea ceremony experience. The tea house serves delicious Korean rice cake snacks in a variety of pastel colors with honey dip, along with delightful drinks.
If you're seeking an authentic slice of Korean culture, tucked away from the bustling tourist areas, this café in Gyeongju is a must-visit. Housed in a serene hanok, the traditional Korean architecture offers a peaceful retreat where you can enjoy a variety of unique beverages, like the highly recommended Korean plum drink known for aiding digestion. The menu features delightful traditional snacks and desserts, including rice cakes that come highly praised by visitors for their taste and texture. Be sure to try the colorful grilled injeolmi! Dipping the rice cakes in jocheong syrup makes them incredibly sweet and delicious. The jocheong was so good that we wanted to buy some ourselves, it was handcrafted and helps with digestion while leaving a clean aftertaste. Particularly, the plum, omija, and lemon ginger carbonated water was refreshingly clean and delicious without the spiciness of ginger. I was so impressed, I wish there was a place like this in Seoul. The charm of this café extends beyond its menu; the traditional floor seating and the modern convenience of ceiling air conditioning ensure comfort throughout your visit, especially during the warmer months. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this spot is celebrated for its friendly owner, excellent service, and the joy of choosing from an array of uncommon tea options and baked goods. Don’t miss out on this gem that combines culinary excellence with cultural authenticity—perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the real Korean café culture.

A MUST. The nicest workers, coolest atmosphere, and best tea. The tea was honestly the best I’ve ever had. I have no bad things to say about this place because it is amazing. We got the recommended items. It’s 100/10
Ashlin K — Google review
Stopped here for some tea and snacks with my friends on our trip to Gyeongju. We have no Korean but the owner was a lovely lady and it was very easy to order. We each tried two different teas and the grilled rice cakes. It was so delicious.
Denko D — Google review
2025.03.31 Not knowing the type of tea that I should order, the owner of Bichkkuli (빛꾸리) suggested that I tried the healthy persimmon tea made from wild leaves hand-picked from Jiri mountain. The rice cakes came with 6 flavours, - the sticky one entails cutting, pulling and twisting (similar to eating spaghetti). Floor seating with cool ambience. Not for those with weak knee.
Ken L — Google review
If you want a real hanok experience this is the place to visit rather than the many replicas around the neighborhood. I spent many childhood summers here sleeping in those very rooms when the hanok belonged to my grandparents who have long passed on. I came back with my own family 40+ years later to show my daughter where her ancestral home is. It brought tears to my eyes. I’m so grateful to the tea owner who has lovingly restored the hanok rather than tearing it down or making garish renovations. Her handmade teas and rice cakes are wonderful. You’ll feel restored here and will understand a bit more about what life used to be like around here.
C K — Google review
Traditional tea house in Hanok. Colourful Injeolmi was delicious, omija tea and misugaru were both refreshing for hot weather
Hnin P — Google review
If you’re looking for a place right off of the busy Main Street this is the place to go. The service was amazing and the lady that runs it was so nice 100% place to visit.

Korean restaurant
Eepungnyeoguro Ssambap, located at 155 Cheomseong-ro, Hwangnam-dong, offers a delightful introduction to hanjeongsik. The dining experience includes around 30 small plates for two people, featuring kimchi jjeon (pancake), various types of kimchi, mushroom and pork dishes. Despite the visually impressive spread, the quality of the food is not compromised by quantity.
For a fixed menu price of 15,000 won per person, you'll get many side dishes with some spicy pork to be wrapped with vegetables and rice. It's value for money and taste is ok for the price.
Alex — Google review
Never come here. The food here is not Korean food. It is much more delicious. The main dish is Korean soul food, but it is trash. It was worse than school lunch, and side dishes were tasteless and insincere. The meat quality is the worst, too. Please don't go

Barbecue restaurant
Daegu Galbi, located on Bukjeong-ro 5, offers top-notch pork galbi in a simple yet inviting setting. The restaurant specializes in serving delicious pork rib stew with deep flavors of garlic, sweetness, and spiciness. The menu is small but the food is made to perfection and served in artisanal pewter dishes with a good selection of lettuce and mint leaves for wrapping the meat. The friendly staff are attentive and can communicate in English.
This is a spicy braised pork rib dish with lots of garlic(boneless). The umami flavor sticks to your mouth, with a spicy kick and the sharp heat from the garlic. It's truly addictive and delicious. After finishing the pork ribs(without bone), make sure to add extra fried rice. The pot has many burn marks, but it's a symbol of an old, beloved restaurant. While there's no hygiene issue, it might give a negative impression to those who are sensitive.
Hyunjun — Google review
Nicey but pricey This restaurant in a side street has a minimum order of 2 servings for each dish. We ordered the braised beef short ribs (sogalbijjim) - 2 x KRW 22,000 which came with a nice selection of ban chan and ssam wraps - lettuce and perilla leaves. We also ordered 1 serve of rice for which we were charged KRW 1,000. It was very tasty but we thought that it was quite pricey.
Suzie L — Google review
Delicious pork rib stew. Best meal we've had in Korea so far. The pork flavour is deep with gorgeous garlic, sweet and spicy flavours. The bacham side dishes were delicious and great accompaniments. The staff were friendly and spoke English which was very helpful. The price of 11,000W is per person and you need to order a minimum of 2 of the same dish.
Ciara B — Google review
A place for those who know what they want. It has a small menu with food made to perfection. The 이모들 ("aunties") are nice to boot and attentive to when you need more side dishes. Mostly for groups, but I was there solo, so that works too! 이모들, 감사합니다~ :)

Good noodles and dumplings at great prices. We were four eating including a 3 year old and a 1 year old and they downed dumplings like there was no tomorrow. Services was polite and nice. I would gladly repeat and they have "take out" in the whole menu!

I had 유부쫄면 after lining up for half an hour outside the restaurant. It's centrally located and really popular. Really good noodles with a good portion and reasonable price (the soup was amazing).
Dora Y — Google review
Huge portion but 6,000 won is not cheap for this type of noodle(jjolmyeon). They have only 4 dishes, all jjolmyeon(with hot/cold soup and dry one). There is usually a waiting during lunch hours but queue was moving quite fast. It tasted good and healthy with lots of veggies but I found quite average.. nothing much to write home about.

I felt that the atmosphere of Myeong-dong Jjolmyeon was really delicious. Because there were many times when people were standing in line. Of course, the taste was delicious. I recommend jjolmyeon. Because my body gets warm. And there are many stores or restaurants around, so I think it would be good to eat, watch, or eat dessert. For dessert, we recommend eating Chalbori bread, Gyeongju bread, or Hwangnam bread, which is Gyeongju's proud dessert.

Visitors praise the fast service and accommodating staff. Many patrons appreciate the Melbourne vibe in Gyeongju, from the decor to the use of Melbourne beans for coffee.
If you're in Gyeongju and looking for a breakfast or brunch spot that truly delivers on every front, this charming restaurant is an absolute gem, offering not only a delicious and well-presented menu but also a lovely ambience. The interior decor is simply stunning; a perfect blend of modern elegance with cozy touches that make you feel right at home. Each dish is carefully crafted with fresh ingredients and presented like a work of art. You can taste the attention to detail in every single dish. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff. They are super kind and welcoming, and some of them speak English too which eases communication. Always happy to come back to visit Nerd Cafe!

There’s a reason this gem is rated five stars: the food, the service, and the ambience, in no particular order because each is outstanding! One of the best experiences on our 12 day trip to Korea and that saying something because we had a spectacular time everywhere we went. Seriously, don’t leave Gyeongju without visiting this cafe!

Nerd is a super cute brunch cafe in the middle of Gyeongju. We waited for about 50 minutes to get in and the vibes were immaculate. The bathroom was clean and had all the amenities you would need including stain remover ! The food was very aesthetic but overall a 7/10. Casual flavours, nothing to write home about but definitely a good brunch. The hash brown was seggsy, definitely get that :) Staff were lovely, vibes were 10-10 and the mocha was lovely. Overall definitely worth a visit if you’re wanting a western brunch in gyeongju! Food: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Great little gem in Gyeongju for western breakfast/brunch food. They have 2 vegan food options on the menu (Walk in the forest platter and avocado toast) and both are delicious and beautifully presented. Their coffee was excellent too, and they do have oat milk. They also offer free water. Service was attentive and friendly and the interior is filled with light and plants. Highly recommend this place!

If you're in the mood for some authentic Korean cuisine, 가마솥족발 is a hidden gem that's worth seeking out. Despite its unassuming appearance, this place draws in crowds with its mouthwatering pig's feet and generous portions of tender pork. The wait can be long, but once you sink your teeth into the flavorful meat paired with kimchi, you'll understand why it's so popular.
It's the best jokbal place in Gyeongju. The last time we were there was 7yrs ago and remembered the great taste of it. My family urged me to go back again and we had a grea meal. Both jokbal and makgooksu were still the same delicious taste!

Absolutely delicious. The pork is tender and smells really good; no gamey odor. I had the bossam, which comes with veggies to wrap the meat in... I appreciate the wasabi/soy sauce they provide, as well as the freshness of the kimchi. At the end, I had their denjang (soybean paste stew) with a little rice, which capped off a really great meal. (How to create a waiting list in front of the entrance) The menu includes 3 types of tendon, 2 types of udon, and a few side menus. The menu in the photo is Yeodogaju rice bowl + additional fried egg, fried udon, basil tomato, and a large draft beer haha. When I tried it, the fries were really good and the rice was seasoned just right, making it a very satisfying meal! It was cold this evening, so I ordered udon, and both the chewy noodles and the fries were good! The interior of the restaurant was very warm and pretty, so I thought it would be nice to have a restaurant like this. If you are going to Gyeongju, be sure to stop by. (Translated by Google) A restaurant where you can eat Tendon with admiration. It is no exaggeration to say that I would go to Gyeongju to visit this house. It's one of the most delicious tendon I've ever had. The right thickness and crispiness of the batter, the richness of the sauce, the plating sense that prevents it from getting soggy, and the generous portion. It is an overwhelmingly superior meal that leaves nothing to be desired. I also tried basil tomatoes as they were recommended, and they go well with tendon. It's refreshing and sweet, so it's very useful for controlling your food pace. Yeodogaju, it's worth waiting in line to eat. Bar
Hwangnam House is a retro-inspired pub located in a tranquil Hanok setting, offering a nostalgic ambiance for patrons. As evening sets in, it becomes a popular spot for those seeking a lively atmosphere and drinks. The outdoor courtyard space is highly recommended for enjoying the surroundings before the weather turns chilly. The area surrounding Hwangnam House boasts an array of restaurants and cafes offering Korean traditional as well as Japanese, Chinese, and Italian cuisines at reasonable prices.
It is around the corner of Hwangridan gil. The building was beautiful and sitting was very comfortable. It was cold ourside abd the lady offered us to sit near gas stove so it was warm to drink. Beer tastes very good and semi dried squid was dying for. It is good place for late drinks with light snack.

Beer and Memories is a lovely little bar with interesting Korean dried fish options and other specialties. Also a great fish and chips! I loved the apricot soju and we enjoyed trying some new foods! Served on hot grills. Help yourself to drinks. Modern and peaceful aesthetic. Recommend when near Gyeongju Tomb park area.

I wanted to try the fish and chips. Walked there from 황리단길. There was a computer sign in. I signed up but noone came to seat me. Maybe because I was alone or because I'm a foreigner. I don't know. Just would have been nice if they'd told me instead of making me stand around in the rain.

No soju, but you can try so many specialty korean beers!! Not that I would pay 8 bucks for them. Korean beer is 4 bucks and import beer is 8 bucks but good luck finding whats what. We got two chicken tenders and below dried fish? Theres a minimum order for food.. maybe if u are sitting outside, its worth the premium charges. We sat indoor in a specific side room, and nothing seemed special.

Cold noodle restaurant
When visiting Gyeongju, make sure to stop by Hwangnam Milmyeon for a delightful noodle experience. This renowned shop offers fresh handmade noodles with a variety of fruit-infused sauces, creating a delectable blend of sweet and sour flavors. You can savor their refreshing water noodles served with a clear bone broth or opt for the special sauce-marinated Jeju black pork barbecue cooked over charcoal fire.
Main dishes are very good with beef tartare and dumpling. But stew with rice is nothing special. The ambiance is very nice and service was nice. The location is very good and easy to find. It is winter time so it is not busy but it could be busy. So please check before you go. Menu shows in English and Korean too.

The place is nice with a view on the street. I ordered cold noodles with kimchi dumplings. I usually don’t eat noodles especially cold ones but this one has changed my mind. The taste and texture are aldente, the sauce is sweet, sour and spicy but balanced. The best part is the fish they use. For the dumplings they use starch wrap, like dimsum. You get a free broth to drink with two kinds of radish.

They offer a variety of traditional liquors, and are especially known for their makgeolli (rice wine). We ordered yukjeon (pork cutlet) and donkatsu (pork cutlet). Recommended Menu - Yukjeon (pork cutlet), kimchijeon (kimchi pancake), and squid with vinegar (optional) - Strawberry makgeolli (seasonal) The yukjeon was served with refreshing jaetagi (Korean traditional fish) and was delicious when eaten together. The egg mixture could have made it a bit fishy, but the soy sauce-and-vinegar marinated jaetagi counteracted it. The meat was tender and paired well with the makgeolli. The raw meat had a strong spicy taste because too much wasabi was added. I felt like it was a bit of a waste to pay for one meal. Korean traditional full course meal restaurant
Hongsi Hanjeongsik offers a traditional Korean dining experience with an extensive feast of 7 appetizers, 17 main courses, and 2 desserts including medicinal herbal tea and ripe persimmon. The atmosphere is praised for its beauty and relaxation, while the service is quick and friendly. Customers have enjoyed the abundance of side dishes provided.
First of all, I am a solo traveler. They were very kind and allowed me to enjoy the set menu alone (just made my portions smaller and only charged me 16k). I got the cheaper set (you can see the picture of what is included). The entree was great! Soup, pancake and other things tasted really good! The main course was huge. I don't know how I managed THIS amount of food 🤣🫣 Among the dishes, there were raw marinated crabs, some other vegetables, fish in 2 sauces and more. The dessert was simple, just a persimmon - but it was enough 👍🏼 Overall, it was a great experience to try many new things.

Really great Michelin level experience! Amazing set menu. We got the one with the bulgogi for $22K KRW per person. It comes with unlimited sides. My favorite side dishes were the mushroom soup, marinated crab, mackerel, seaweed salad, green onion pancake, and pumpkin dish. Loved all the flavorful veggies. The frozen persimmon and herbal tea was very memorable. Would come again. Highly recommend. So glad our hotel recommended this place to us!

Probably the BEST meal i have had in Korea. It was obvious the care and attention the team put into preparing the food right down to the presentation. Flavors came from many directions and all was fresh. The space is calming and well designed to relax you and allow you to focus on the food. The price for the meal was incredibly reasonable. What a gem 🙏

Only 2 types of set menu is available. Whole table order the same set menu. 1. 16 course - but there is fish, snail, so plenty of protein. 2. The same 16 course with bulgogi beef Would recommend ordering local Korean alcohol here too, go perfectly well with meal. Dessert is pessimism and sweet herbal tea, not part of 16 courses. Expect plenty of food, come with empty stomach, get ready to take a nap from a lot of good food.

A fantastic way to try Korean flavours. A mix of an abundance of tasty dishes. The hosts were welcoming and the setting was great. Would highly recommend as a way to try many dishes (we got the Bulgogi set). Beware: go on an empty stomach!

Probably one the best meals that we had ever had in South Korea. The restaurant was nestled in a small alley, away from the tourist area. We loved the wooden floor and the main dining area with many trees. All dishes were well presented and cooked with amazing flavours. Staff were super friendly, professional. They introduced each and every dish to us, also were kind to ask to refill for us for free. OMG! A must in Gyeongju!!!

숙영식당 offers a simple yet delicious menu with a focus on healthy, balanced meals in a cozy and homey atmosphere. The bibimbap is served with barley rice and an assortment of fresh vegetables, sprouts, and greens, accompanied by side dishes like grilled fish and warm stew. The restaurant is located in an old house building with a charming garden inside, adding to its down-to-earth ambiance.
Just Wow! We had a wonderful experience here. The owner is really friendly and explains everything, while speaking perfect english. We sat in a room in the backyard where you had to take your shoes off. We ordered two bibimbap, one Buchimgae and a bottle of soju for 34.000 Won total, a fair price for the amount of food we got Both the Bibimbap and Buchimgae were a 10/10 and made us full. Defenitly come here for authentic korean food!! 😄

You should try traditional Korean food if you visit to Gyeongju city. It’s literally difficult to find a place to eat for one person(alone). BUT if you are alone, you can order and eat alone here! B/c there is a menu for alone. It’s called “나홀로정식(11,000won) which is second one at the menu. This is super super crazy! Healthy, fresh, not salty, good price, a lot of side dishes. I highly recommend here for lunch or dinner in Gyeongju :)

A very inconspicuous but very very good restaurant. Already at the beginning we were greeted very friendly by the owner and everything was explained in detail. The man spoke very good English, but was also happy when we spoke a few words of Korean. The food was very rich in quantity and also in variety and especially suitable for vegetarians. The price per person was phenomenal (about 12000 won), because the quantity was very large as I said. This restaurant is highly recommended!

Korean barbecue restaurant
Gyeongju Millennium Hanwoo Bomun Branch offers a unique dining experience where you can select your preferred cut of beef at the butcher shop and grill it at your own table. The restaurant provides excellent service, with English-speaking staff who are happy to assist in grilling the meat. In addition to a variety of side dishes, diners can also order noodles and rice to complement their meal.
Although not the most romantic restaurant, the food here is fantastic. You pick the cut of beef of your wish at the butcher shop (they are very happy to help you pick) and then grill it at your own table. We had a very good cut and the waiter - who was speaking fluent English - helped us grill it. Side dishes include salad, condiments and pickles. You can order noodles and rice to your wish. Definitely recommended!

The best dinner i’ve ever had not only in gyeongju, but in my whole trip to south korea. The concept is very simple, you choose your meat, and then you grill it by yourself. And the meat itself is very tender and juicy. If you are in gyeongju, this is a must visit place.

I like this restaurant a lot as you can choose the ingredients for your meal especially your preferred cut and meat quality. The food is fresh and delicious. If you are having the Korean bbq, do order a bowl of Korean cold noodles. It pairs really well with the bbq meat.

Dosol Maeul is a highly recommended dining spot located in the heart of Gyeongju. It offers delicious and affordable traditional Korean food, making it a popular choice among locals. The restaurant is known for its long wait times during peak hours, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. Set in a traditional neighborhood with authentic Korean houses, Dosol Maeul provides a great atmosphere for enjoying traditional Korean cuisine.
I’ve been visiting this restaurant over 5 times since 2010. The taste of food is still great but I can’t say that the atmosphere is also good. (Because sometimes the overall mood is more important than the taste itself) I hope they realize what I mean.
Huichoun M — Google review
We arrived at Dosol Maeul around 8pm (Google shows closing at 9pm), but the owner was quite rude in refusing to serve us. We were planning to come back the next day to try the food, but the attitude completely turned us off. Can’t comment on the food since we didn’t get to try it, but we ended up having an excellent dinner at another nearby restaurant instead.
Vishnu S — Google review
This was the most unwelcoming restaurant I’ve experienced in Korea. The entrance was piled with dirty trays, creating a poor first impression. I came specifically for their traditional hanjeongsik meal, but the staff refused to serve me because I was dining alone. Instead of offering the main menu they advertise, I was only given the option of a few side dishes — nothing like the authentic spread people expect. There are plenty of restaurants in Gyeongju, like Danhyanghoe, that offer a beautiful setting, warm service, and the full traditional experience regardless of whether you come solo or with a group. Dosol Maeul sadly fails on both hospitality and cleanliness. Not recommended.

Very delicious traditional korean food for very cheap price! Long wait to expect during weekends or holidays but it's definitely worth it. I've been there two times, in 2013 and 2017 and the quality haven't changed. There is also a good variety of traditional alcohols. It is in the heart of the traditional neighborhood in gyeongju with traditional looking korean houses all around. 4-Star Review: Solid Option at Gyodong Sssambap 별채반 교동쌈밥: I recently visited Gyodong Sssambap 별채반 교동쌈밥 and had a pleasant experience Standout Features: 1. Cleanliness: The restaurant maintained a clean and welcoming atmosphere, which is always a plus. 2. Good Location: Conveniently situated, making it easy to find and access. Areas for Improvement: My only suggestion for improvement would be to provide more meat with the order. While the quality of the meat was good, the portion size felt a bit limited. Verdict: Gyodong Sssambap 별채반 교동쌈밥 is a solid option for those seeking a reliable and satisfying meal. With a clean atmosphere and good location, it's a great choice. Just be aware that the meat portions might be smaller than expected. Rating: 4/5 stars Will we return? Possibly Recommended for: - Those seeking a clean and welcoming dining atmosphere - Travelers looking for a convenient meal in a good location - Anyone willing to compromise on meat portion sizes for a solid meal

I love this historical Korean city, There is SO much to see and experience. We stayed in a traditional korean house called the Hwangnamgwan Hanok Hotel. Where you can see the ancient tombs of the kings. If you have the time go and visit Cheomachong Tomb its a beautiful picture of Koreas ancient history. A little bit of a walk or quick drive, and you can find the ancient observatory was built in 647 CE called Cheomseongdae. It's especially beautiful at night. Not far from there is the Bulguksa Buddhist temple up on the mountain called toham, stunning in its craftsmanship and history. The Stone Buddah is another incredible site! Called Seokgruam Grotto It's carved from granit in the cave, is facing eastern sea where the King is buried to be reincarnated as a dragon to protect from invasion from the East. Being an ancient city, much of the construction that is done is done carefully since many artifacts are found when breaking ground. Which explains why its super tricky to drive down the narrow streets with cars moving both directions-- throw-in golf carts and pedestrians that add a bit of an extra challenge. However, it's incredible how patient everyone is with each other. This city is a must-see if you want to go on a lovely historical adventure.

We went during a public holiday and the wait was quite long. As we went there a bit late, the wait was 30 minutes. At peak times, I think it would be an hour wait. As it was very busy during holiday period, they were only serving the signature tofu soup. We didn't get to try to pork or the pancake. The soup was good, the service was good. But you need to accept that the wait is quite long for a simple dish.

Yosokkoong 1779 is a renowned restaurant in Gyeongju, offering an exceptional dining experience with traditional Korean cuisine. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating, allowing guests to dine in beautiful pine wood rooms or under wood-beamed roofs. As a 300-year-old certified establishment of Royal cuisine run by the Choi family, Yosokkoong has received accolades from various organizations for its authentic and organic dishes.
Excellent experience of traditional high-class Korean foods and environment. Formal course of Korean dishes not to disappoint. Do not expect heavy meat or grill foods with strong spicy flavor. Entering this place itself to look around for your meal is worth spending extra money on. The only downside of course meal is that you need to keep up with your serving speed and others. You can choose your private room. Try it, if you can!

Japanese experience centered around Korean cuisine. We enjoyed the private Japanese style rooms with floor seating and many of the dishes were well presented and flavourful. The outside garden is breathtaking and very picturesque for a summer dinner. We were less happy with our raw fish salad that had many bones and was a bit hard to chew. We would also like to have taken it a bit slower - in our case all of the dishes were on our table within 40 minutes of being seated. Overall a positive experience.

We ate at House of Choi for dinner. We ate the 69,000 won meal option as we booked late. We were given a private room and our appetizers immediately came out. The first three dishes were delicious. It was followed by a salad and raw fish with seaweed wrap. The final set of dish was a simple Korean side dishes with rice, along with galbi-gin. The first set of dishes were great for set meal. The last dishes were like from a cheap Korean restaurant. The galbi was overcooked and chewy. The server was rushing to serve our dishes even though we were still working on our last set of meals. They don't monitor us and serve the next set of dish as we finish each set. They claim that they have a big party and needed to serve all the rooms together. That seems like lazy service. The price of the meal was not worth it. I recommend other restaurants more reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Not sure if they're trying to Michelin Star or not but they are a long way from it if they are.

(Translated by Google) I ate the chili shrimp as soon as they came out and it was really delicious. Since there were two people eating Samseon Jjamppong, they shared it. It was good because the portion was large and there was enough seafood. The atmosphere is probably because it is a weekday and there are no customers. It was nice that it was quiet and secluded. Since it is a hotel, the service is of course good. It was a satisfying meal. (Translated by Google) This is the only picture, but the other main dishes are all delicious. Is Jjambbong or Sacheontangmyeon always a safe meal? It's a white soup, but it's also delicious. Maybe it's because I don't have kids, but I never get to eat Jjajangmyeon no matter how many times I visit, so I don't know the taste of the basic menu. But it's a place that makes you think it might be delicious. I have confidence in the overall taste of the menu. There are 3 types of fried rice, and when I tried them all, they were all good on their own, but the taste wasn't too spicy, so it got buried in other menu items. Anyway, it is a valuable place in Gyeongju, where there are not many good restaurants. If you're looking for a unique and delicious dining experience in Gyeongju, then 황남맷돌순두부 is a must-visit spot. The restaurant offers a variety of tofu stew options, including beef tofu stew with Korean beef, octopus, shrimp, and fresh vegetables. The stew has a distinct flavor that sets it apart from regular tofu stews but is still incredibly delicious. It's the perfect comfort food on a cold day.
Had dinner here with my friends. We opted for beef tofu stew, which contained Korean beef, octopus, shrimp, and various vegetables. The beef tofu stew tasted different, not like a regular tofu stew, but I liked it anyway since it was delicious. Tofu stew is perfect food on a cold day. The staff was friendly, the ingredients were fresh, and the ambiance was good as well. Good value for the price.

Gyeongju Wonjo Kongguk is a Korean restaurant known for its various versions of tofu dishes. The restaurant's homemade bean soup may sound bland, but it offers a delightful surprise with its exquisite taste and filling nature. The different variations of the dish, such as those with egg yolk and brown sugar or more bean powders and honey, provide unique flavors that leave customers wanting more. Adding sea salt to the Kongguk enhances its already heavenly taste.
We went there for the traditional hot pot rice that is worth trying when in Gyeonju. We had different experiences on the sides with the Abalone one being amazing while the local fish one being nothing special with the fish being super dry. Tasty sides for the meal. The staff was nice and the place was not full, so probably reservations are not needed

The cold noodles had a unique taste, quite different from the traditional style. I think it might get mixed reviews — some people will enjoy it, others maybe not so much haha. Personally, I didn’t really like it, but my boyfriend did! The seafood pancake was quite good, and the soup tasted a bit like a sweet dessert — interesting combination. We waited about 15 minutes even though it was already 1:30 PM, and there were still many people lining up. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for something different!

So good. Here in Singapore we drink soy bean milk pretty often, and we have beancurd (which we eat). Kongguk was a very, very pure form of (mashed?) soy beans, taste was exquisite and left me wanting more. It's also very filling, and with the toppings inside, coupled with the egg yolk... Was just heavenly. I liked adding sea salt (it's provided) to my Kongguk, it tasted even better!

local favorite with a sacred view... we visited gyeongju wonjo kongguk in june 2025 and had a lovely, memorable lunch experience surrounded by nature and tradition. this is a place where you write down your name at the entrance and wait to be called — a nice system that ensures order and adds to the authentic local feel. among the waiting guests (we were number 42!), my son and ı were the only foreigners — the rest were all korean, which tells you something about the restaurant’s reputation. we went for the most popular dish: hot soybean soup (option 1) — a light, slightly sweet soup with rice cakes. ıt reminded me of a warm bowl of sweet oat porridge, but with a very korean twist. seating is traditional, on the floor, and shoes are removed at the entrance as expected in many local spots. the place is simple, spotlessly clean, and incredibly warm and welcoming. what truly elevates it is the serene atmosphere — the restaurant faces a view of small, lush green hills across the road. they’re not just hills: these are tumuli (or gobun in korean), ancient royal and noble tombs from the silla kingdom. built with stones and covered with earth to resemble natural mounds, they represent harmony with nature and deep ancestral respect. recognized by unesco as a world heritage site, they give the whole experience a spiritual and historical layer that’s rare in a restaurant setting. price: 8,000 won per person — very reasonable for such a wholesome and meaningful meal. highly recommended if you want something traditional, peaceful, and genuinely korean.

A humble restaurant that serves a simple yet profound dish that highlights the natural falvour of the soybean and elevated by the nuttines of sesame seeds. The soup is thick warm and comforting. A little too sweet to my liking .

Baru is a vegan restaurant in Gyeongju serving so called ‘temple food’. The food is among the best vegan food I ever had and I do not eat meat, which means that I frequently eat vegetarian food and have a bit of knowledge in that area. Vegan food is always under the suspicion of tasting a bit boring and actually my experience is that this judgement is not always entirely wrong. The food being served here however is anything but boring. For a mere 18.000 Won which is about 14 Euro you get an enormous amount and variety of different foods, I think it must have been 18 plates with different specialties. The ingredients are fresh. The combinations of the different flavours of the ingredients along with the different spices are very impressive and the food tastes really good. When you keep in mind that this is a small, rather cheap restaurant, I dare say it’s almost beyond comprehension. A very good example is the tempura, which they serve among the dishes. Tempura is a good indicator when trying to distinguish ordinary restaurants from very good restaurants, as it is always a challenge to create a tempura where the contents of the dough are cooked but still firm and the dough does not drip with oil. Here, they excel at the task of creating tempura almost as in Japan. My guess would be that in large cities in Germany, where I am from, you would have to pay three times as much here and the restaurant would be classified as ‘haute cuisine’. Only flaw I have to mention was the dessert, which was a water melon but tasted a bit too watery. But this is really a minor note for the sake of completeness. The interior of the restaurant is traditional, which is very nice. Though be aware that traditional also means that there are no chairs instead you sit on the floor. The restaurant is a not directly situated in the center of the city but you can easily go there by bus or taxi. Do not let this small inconvenience prevent you from going to Baru, I absolutely recommend going there.

Ordered a half & half pizza. The corn cheese pizza included meat, which was not advertised. Also the tomato sauce had for whatever reason a sweet flavor. I cannot recommend this place. + The toilets were the nastiest I have ever seen and should be cleaned more regularly. The napkins on the tables were literally toilette paper as well. On the positive side, they quickly prepared the pizza.

Solid pizza when we needed our western food fix! Cool vibe and fast, friendly service. Pizza is thin base style with loads of epic stretchy cheese and topping :) However one PSA is that the Gorgonzola pizza is just a plain cheese pizza with no tomato base, it has NO gorgonzola cheese. So yeah, don’t order it expecting to get your favourite stinky blue cheese pizza. The cheese was good and very stretchy but certainly not a blue cheese. ✌🏻

The menu features delicious pizzas and other dishes like Sausage Shakshuka and Goulash, all of which have received rave reviews for their amazing flavors.
Came here to try the pizza as it was highly rated. We thoughly enjoyed the zucchini and gorgonzola, while the broccolini was decent. We loved how good the bread tastes. Pizzas are fairly small (personal sized) so may need a few of you are in a group and sharing. Was fairly busy with a wait time of about an hour. We also had to reserve with the server as we didn't have a Korean phone number that is used for notifying you when your table is ready.

My girlfriend and I decided to try DOMI the other night, as we’re both Italians and were craving something different from the usual Korean food. The reviews were very positive, so our expectations were high—but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to them. When we arrived, it was freezing and windy, yet we were told to wait outside because no tables were available. However, through the window we could clearly see several empty tables with dirty dishes on them, as well as an unused counter area. No one made any effort to clear a spot or offer us somewhere warmer to wait. After standing in the cold for 20 minutes, we went back in—only to realize the staff had forgotten about us. They seemed surprised to see us again, and finally let us in. The pizza arrived quickly, and the dough was actually quite good. That said, the size was really small—definitely not what you’d expect for the price, especially by Italian standards. What struck us most was how disorganized everything felt. We saw other people being turned away while tables around us stayed dirty and unused, and the staff didn’t seem in a rush to improve the situation. In the end, we left disappointed. With a bit more care and professionalism, this could have been a very different experience.

Delicious but TINY authentic tasting Neapolitan style pizzas. No exaggeration the smallest pies I’ve ever received not ordered from a kids menu. Great service and cocktails (also small) too! I was craving brunch food like crazy for a few days and DOMI serves the only shakshuka I could find. Bit of a mixed experience - the pita bread is SPECTACULAR, but the eggs were a bit over cooked and I went for the meat sauce option (18k) and only got a spoonful of meat 🥲 the sauce was very simple too and it struggles to justify the price tag. (Either a slightly bigger portion or better seasoning / more vegs would have done the trick) The staff is super nice, but I had to queue outside with several people while a lot of tables had freeed up inside. Someone in the comments is pointing out the lack of organisation and yes, it feels like things could be done more efficiently to minimise the wait (and get more customers in) Anyway, still appreciated finding brunch food on a rainy weekend 🫶

As you might have read, the food here are all prepared by a professional chef who uses seasonal fresh local ingredients, and some vegetables and the sauces are independently grown/made in their own garden. This restaurant appears in many local blogs as one of the recommended restaurant whilst in Gyeongju. Please note in advance that this is a fine dining restaurant with a set menu that has few ranges of price. The concept is to serve "Han Jeong Sik', a traditional Korean course meal, which usually are prepared by many households when they have family visit. The food, of course, is sensational and taste very delicious to me. I felt pampered when having the set course here, taste the food one by one in order, which was guided by the staff. They gradually increased our taste buds by starting the food from the lightest to the rich and flavorful one. The course then closed with a seasonal sweets and local fruits and fresh beverage. In terms reservation, I got a help from a local, which you can ask maybe from your airbnb hosts, hotel's staff, a local friend, or your tour guide if you have one. It would just be easier to let them know if you have any food restriction as well. This place opens for lunch and dinner, and it is located a bit far from the tourists area. We took a taxi to go there (around 20-30 minutes from Hwangnidan-ril for dinner, however, was hard to get the taxi back. I recommend to book a car with or without a driver, or make sure you have arrange the transport before. Would I be recommended this place? Definitely. Especially if you are a food enthusiast who who'd like to expand your culinary journey.

It's a traditional Korean table made by a traditional Korean court food master. She received royal food from Han Hee-soon, the last court lady of the Joseon Dynasty, and is a successor to Hwang Hye-sung, the honorary holder of royal food in the Joseon Dynasty, and has trained his disciples in Gyeongju for 30 years. Fortunately, the CEO gave us a tour of the Jangdokdae for 20 years What's real here is that they showed me a salt jar that can be used for 50 years, soaking soy sauce and soybean paste, soaking all the enzymes, and salt. She's a person who continues the pride and pulse of Korean food The food is also salty, sweet, and sour according to the five colors. Those who don't know are just meat-grilled nubias, just vegetables, but there is no flaw in the composition of self-grown spring vegetables and high-end cow Korean beef, the combination of colors and bowls. It's a must-have course for formal entertainment or foreigners Of course, I think those who love Korean food will definitely do it Especially during the day, you can feel the taste of the royal food transfer comfortably by developing a red crab soft tofu set meal that is so cost-effective. It's a day like I lived in a palace because I came to Gyeongju, looked at cultural assets, and ate food here. Thank you for the food!

One of the most memorable restaurants I visited during my trip to South Korea! 🌟 If you want a truly authentic Korean food experience, this is the place. They serve an incredible variety of side dishes, but the soon tofu was my absolute favorite. After we took our first sip, my friends and I looked at each other in shock. We were lucky to arrive during a non-busy hour, which gave us the chance to chat with the waitress, who also happens to be the owner's sister! She was so kind and informative, and you could really feel the passion and detail put into every dish. A quick tip: this restaurant does require reservations, so make sure to call ahead. If you’re staying at a hotel, ask the staff to help you reserve—it’s completely worth it. Highly recommended!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars An unforgettable cultural and culinary experience! I had an absolutely amazing time at Surime in Gyeongju. It wasn’t just a meal — it was a heartfelt journey into Korean history, culture, and hospitality. The moment I stepped into the traditional hanok space, I felt like time had stopped. The beautifully preserved architecture and the peaceful atmosphere instantly brought a sense of calm. The traditional Korean royal meal (Hanjeongsik) I experienced was truly breathtaking. Each dish was crafted with incredible care and balance. The pine mushroom herbal broth, Gujeolpan (nine-section dish), deodeok (mountain herb) dishes, and grilled jumbo shrimp were all so delicately prepared — they looked like edible works of art. I almost felt guilty eating them! What moved me even more was the depth of flavor in the dishes made with 20-year-aged doenjang (soybean paste), fermented seafood sauces, and seasoned herbs and pickles using natural enzymes. The sincerity and warmth of the people running this place were palpable. They explained the story behind each dish, and I could feel how deeply proud they were to share Korean tradition. Right next door, I visited a 300-year-old hanok (traditional house). The rows of aged jang (fermented sauce) jars were a sight to behold. I also spent the night there — and it was a magical experience. Dining among spring flowers in a serene hanok setting, surrounded by traditional Korean décor, brought a level of peace that words can hardly describe. This was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable moments of my entire trip to Korea. If you’re looking to go beyond typical tourist attractions and truly experience the beauty and authenticity of Korean tradition — Surime is a must-visit. I will remember this experience for the rest of my life. Thank you, Surime!

Found this place through Instagram and thought I’d wanna take my friends from US. This place does require phone reservations so I highly recommend asking your hotel staff to call the restaurant the moment you check into your hotel. Distance wise it is quite a distance if you take public transportation so I highly recommend taking taxi from 황리단길(Hwangnidangil). Depending on the traffic, it only took us 18min to get here. Another important note! This place does not accept customers after 5pm. We learned it the hard way. Instead of snacking at Hwangnidangil, come straight here and eat a healthy hearty meal. After eating, go digest at the shopping area. This place is a must stop!

The food was so good!! You can tell they only use natural seasonings. Come hungry because they give you multiple rounds of food (we had a dinner set menu). I highly recommend it!! BTW, reservation only.

One of the most unforgettable dining experiences I’ve had in Korea. Surimye is a stunning hanok-style restaurant in Gyeongju that serves traditional royal Korean cuisine with heart and precision. I visited twice in one day — lunch and dinner — and both meals blew me away. For lunch, I had the Snow Crab Soft Tofu Stew (Hongge Sundubu), which was rich, flavorful, and packed with delicate crab meat. It came with 12 beautifully prepared side dishes that were all perfectly seasoned and balanced. After a peaceful afternoon viewing cherry blossoms at Bulguksa Temple, I returned for dinner and tried the Bulguksa Course Menu — an elegant multi-course royal-style feast. Every dish, from grilled hanwoo beef to abalone with matsutake mushrooms, was unforgettable. The setting is calm and breathtaking, the staff is kind, and Chef Park Mi-sook’s attention to detail shows in every bite. If you’re in Gyeongju, this is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Korean cuisine and culture. 5 stars. Would give 6 if I could.

I last ate here over 10 years ago and it was so bad I swore I'd never come back. I made the mistake of coming back today. Never again. The buffet is an absolute waste of money. Selections ate meager. The meat is poorly cooked. The only decent dishes were a few sushi offerings and the pastries. Everything was worse than a typical wedding buffet and they're charging W60,000 (80k for dinner!). Bunch of bougie Koreans seemed to enjoy it.

"붉은 호랑이" in Hwangnidan-gil, Gyeongju offers delicious food and great service. The grilled cod roe is a standout dish, but the fried makchang may not be as impressive. The place opens at 5:30, so arriving early is recommended due to potential waiting times. Despite being similar to an ordinary izakaya in Seoul, the atmosphere and late opening hours make it a good choice for enjoying tasty snacks.
Excellent little restaurant offering insane value for money - I had the beef ribs which was a very large portion for just 18k won. They also gave a free sorbet dessert at the end. Service was very attentive and kind. 10/10 recommendation in downtown Gyeongju

While nothing was life changing, we were really pleased with our dinner here yesterday and understand why this place is SO popular with locals and tourists alike. They have officially debuted an English menu and our waiter spoke well enough to recommend some favorites and answer a few questions to make ordering a breeze. We weren’t brave enough to try his recommended fried dish (pork rectum) but saw a lot of people enjoying it. We opted for the chicken cream pasta (which came with a breaded/fried chicken cutlet) and a half order of the salmon futomaki. Glad we opted for half as it was HUGE. TIP - ARRIVE EARLY to ensure a table. They opened at 6 PM for dinner yesterday and by 6:01 they were completely full. We walked in at 6 on the dot and got the second to last two seats. I read other reviews saying they waited 5 hours (not worth that wait IMO). The food itself is 4 stars as it was nothing speciiiaaaalllll but overall rating bumped up to 5 due to hospitality, atmosphere (young, hip crowd), and value for money. If we lived here we would be regulars for sure. If you can snag a table, check it out!

The soups appeared scrumptious as we watched other diners order them. However, we made the mistake of choosing beef and chicken dishes instead, which did not live up to our expectations. The beef was cold, and some pieces had an unpleasant gristly texture.

Food and vibe was all great & would definitely return. We had the Patagonian fish, creamy chicken pasta, honey tomatoes, sliced beef tadaki and half a sushi roll. Best was definitely the fish and sliced beef and we’re not usually huge fish people. The chicken pasta was fun - had a kick to it with some chilli but other than that was pretty standard creamy chicken pasta. Tomatoes were a fresh side and the sushi was fine but more a personal taste of not loving huge rolls of sushi. A solid spot in town!

2-Star Review: Disappointing Experience at Burger King Gyeongju: I'm not thrilled to share my underwhelming experience at Burger King Gyeongju, but here it goes. We were staying at a nearby hotel and, due to limited options, ended up at Burger King around 8:30 p.m. out of convenience. Unfortunately, this experience reminded me why I haven't had Burger King in years. The issues started when we stepped out to grab something from the convenience store and returned to find our food ready. However, the staff had assumed we wanted Coca-Cola as our drink without asking. I didn't want to make a fuss, especially since it was closing time, so I discreetly poured it out (I'm not a fan of Coca-Cola). The food was also not delicious, and quite disatusfying. Next time I would rather skip dinner if this is the only choice. The only redeeming aspect of our visit was the kind and friendly worker. However, that wasn't enough to make up for the overall disappointment. If there had been other options available, we would have chosen something else. Unfortunately, Burger King was the only choice at 8:30 p.m. It's not recommended unless you're desperate for a late-night meal and have no other options. Rating: 2/5 stars Will we return? No

El Rato is a Mexican restaurant in Gyeongju that offers an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is inviting and well thought out, with friendly English-speaking staff. The food is authentic and delicious, with options for vegetarians and gluten-sensitive individuals. The menu is fresh and tasty, catering to different dietary needs without compromising on flavor. Customers appreciate the beautiful decor and professional service. While there are limited vegan options, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that dietary preferences are accommodated.
Awesome Tex-Mex spot in Gyeongju main street! The Birria ramen was such a cool twist — spicy, flavorful, and super satisfying. Never thought those flavors would work so well together. Sour Cream and the Beef Chilli reminded me of LA. Great vibe and friendly staff too. Only downside, it's a bit pricey for Korea and the portion size.
Vikram N — Google review
I wish they’d bump up the portion size a bit for the price. The fajitas aren’t spicy, salty, or sweet—just plain and simple. There’s nothing special about the flavor. It’d be nice if they turned down the noise or played some calmer music. The playlist feels more like a lounge bar vibe. They say it’s pet-friendly, but medium-sized dogs have to stay outside. There was one black dog tied up out there. Poor dog..Calling it "pet-friendly" feels like a stretch.

A lovely find in Gyeongju! We shared the fajitas and for just under 40,000, you got so much food. Pork, beef, chicken and shrimp and lots of accompanying condiments like olives, jalapeños, soured cream, salsa and a thousand island like sauce. We also had a birria ramen which was delicious, with plenty of pulled beef. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something fairly clean eating wise, professional and very tasty!

I never imagined I’d find such incredible Tex-Mex food in Korea, but this place completely blew me away. The food was absolutely outstanding. The tacos were packed with flavor and the guacamole was fresh and zesty. What really made the experience even better was the staff. They were incredibly friendly, attentive and most spoke English. Just a heads-up for anyone ordering the beef tacos—they’re not made with ground beef like you might expect. Instead, they use tender, slow-cooked beef brisket, which was surprisingly pretty good. If you’re looking for something hearty and delicious, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You might be pleasantly surprised like I was! -A Mexican from Texas

Was a nice eating experience with the iPad ordering and overall vibe inside. There are both vegetarian and vegan options available which is a bonus. I would recommend the burrito bowls as they were delicious. They do offer a birria ramen dish, I would recommend this as something to share between multiple people alongside their meals. As fun of an idea this is I’m not sure how well it would work as a dish by itself. If you’re in the area and looking for Mexican food or just something healthy then I would recommend stopping by however there is no need to go out of your way to eat here.

El Rato is a very pretty restaurant with a friendly and cozy atmosphere! We had a lot of different food and each was extremely delicious, typical mexican. All ingredients were fresh and tasty, especially the Guacamole wit homemade tacos. We also tried the Birria Ramen, which was a crossover between tasty Chilli and Asian Ramen. You also have a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes and options. The service is also very quick but still relaxed! We enjoyed it very much! They even provided me a blanket since I was cold :-). It is a really lovely place. Thank you!

Korean restaurant
Hyanghwajeong is a popular Korean restaurant in Gyeongju that offers a variety of delicious dishes. The restaurant is known for its cockel mixed rice and seafood pancake, which are must-try items. For those feeling adventurous, the yuk hwe mul hwe (beef tartare in cold noodle style) comes highly recommended. Despite being pricey and often having long lineups, the food is considered worth the wait by many visitors.
The food is really good. One of the best places to eat Haemuljeon seafood and vegetable pancake. I love eating raw food and the Korean Raw Beef Bibimbap was delicious. Perfect size. The restaurant is always full, so be prepared to do a line or try arriving 30 minutes before lunch closes for break.

Everything was so delicious. Totally worth the wait. We were there in December 2024. We will go there again when we go to KyungJu and try different dishes!

Came here to try the seafood pancake and spicy stir fried cockles. We enjoyed the food but definitely recommend reserving in advance on Catch Table as we had a 2 hour wait time.

We had a 2 person set with special sushi and extra sashimi. It was perfect. Such a high quality food, extremely nice people who were trying to fulfill our out of the box wishes.
Emilia Z — Google review
Even when arriving late in the evening, this restaurant is so popular that we had to wait about 10 minutes. The bulgogi was slightly sweet, but it had a unique taste and texture compared to other places. The beef tartare noodles were refreshing, though the broth somewhat overshadowed the raw beef’s natural flavor. The restaurant closes earlier than expected, so we couldn’t stay long, but the staff didn’t rush us and patiently waited until we finished our meal.

After a fascinating cultural experience exploring the remains of the Korean Sila Dynasty, we are famished. We tried to find info about what Gyeonju is famous for, and we found out that the bibimbap here is very well-known, and the article led us to Hyanghwajeong. After a 10-minute walk across the Hanok district, we find it. The restaurant is lovely, the old traditional wooden building, the pebble courtyard, and the stone lion guarding it❤️. We see that there is quite a long queue, and we have to get our number from the machine they provide near the building, the servant sees us, notices we are confused, and asks us if we have korean number or not since we don’t (and the queue number from the machine needs a Korean phone number), he input our name manually. We wait in the courtyard for 15-20 minutes to get our name called; the interior of the building is as lovely as the architecture; it feels warm and homey. After we were seated, he gave us the menu, and we ordered an ark shell bibimbap (this was the first time we knew that bibimbap also had a seafood version) and a portion of bulgogi. The food comes to our table relatively quickly, and it is a new experience for our tongue and food pallets since this is a new experience with the ark shell bibimbap; the bulgogi is also delicious and juicy. For us, the experience is excellent; the service, the food, the place, the architecture, the interior, and the landscapes are beautiful 👌👌 and the price is affordable compared to the quality we get.
Christian A — Google review
We ordered the famous Ark shell bibimbap and seafood pancake. Both of them are 100! They are so tasty which I lost my words. The seafood pancake is FULL OF SHRIMPS on top and same goes to the ark shell rice. Must must try! The only thing is you need to reserve the seats via Kakao Talk app which requires a local number to register.

(Translated by Google) A teppanyaki restaurant that was more ordinary than expected. You can choose between three levels of spiciness. You can think of the medium flavor as being at the level of Shin Ramyun! You can eat the fried rice later, but since the overall seasoning of the teppan stir-fried food is salty and spicy, I recommend sharing a bowl of rice with your group! And it’s perfect for eating fried rice later! ⭐️In the Corona era, it was great that the entire inside of the restaurant was organized into rooms! This place is definitely worth visiting if i lived here it would be my go to place. The owner is friendly and an excellent chef and spoke good English. The food was very fresh and delicious and the chef was able to change things around to suit our dietary needs. The food is reasonably priced and the servings are generous. It was nice to see it being cooked in the open kitchen 😋. Best pasta place I've been to in Asia.

Anima Italian Trattoria offers a delectable selection of house-made pasta and other Italian dishes. The blue crab rose pasta, steak truffle risotto, and alio di olio come highly recommended by the servers. While the average cost per dish is on the higher side, the quality of food justifies it. The menu features items made with high-quality ingredients and prepared with skill and care. The staff is professional, helpful, and creates a pleasant dining experience for guests.
The food was absolutely fantastic. We went in a bigger group so we had a chance to try most of the items from the menu. All of them tasted like they were made with high quality ingredients and were prepared with a lot of skill and care. Would recommend to anyone.

The house-made pasta is delicious! We followed the server's recommendations for the blue crab rose pasta, steak truffle risotto , and alio di olio. I wish we could have ordered extra bread to go--it was delicious! Expect to pay an average of 18,000 per dish, and you have to buy one dish per person. It's expensive, but worth it if you're up for a splurge.

(Translated by Google) Because it was so great when I went there shortly after it opened. I had high expectations and went right at the opening time on this visit. It was just disappointment. 1. After entering around 11:30, the steak was served an hour later (eat and drink) The interval between food coming out is too long (main course takes 30 minutes) 2. The soda came out with all the carbonation removed, so I asked for it again. The machine was broken so I had to choose between coffee and herbal tea. Americano or tea bag tea do not go well with meals. (The table next to me also said, ‘Coffee!’) This is something you need to check in advance before going out to the guest table. I tried to do that considering the inconvenience of the location, but If it were me, I think I would just go to the supermarket. 3. Is the amount of pasta real? I'm not the type to eat a lot, but this was enough for an elementary school student. The bowl is not too big; During my previous visit, I didn't feel like it was lacking at all. 4. The seasoning of the food is strong. After eating everything, my tongue feels tingly. Even though the number of employees doubled from the beginning, it felt like we couldn't do anything. I understand that they take care of all the food themselves, but I was not satisfied with many things. I won't say it's not tasty. I think I may have been unlucky, but I was very disappointed that I only ate one meal in Gyeongju.

The staff is accommodating and friendly, ensuring a memorable experience for all patrons.
I visited with my man, and it was by far the most impressive place we experienced in Gyeongju. The staff were extremely kind and did their best to communicate with us in English. We are truly grateful for their warm hospitality. We initially sat at a table and then moved to seats at the bar. The bartender served excellent cocktails, and the food was outstanding. They have special cocktails with a distinct Korean twist. They even escorted us until we left, which made us feel genuinely cared for. Thank you to the entire PREP team for giving us such a wonderful night.

The perfect place to grab some delicious and unique cocktails. Every drink we had was delicious and special — many used local liquors and seasonal ingredients and the atmosphere was comfortable with beautiful views. But what made our visit really special was the staff. They took the time to help with recommendations, explain the different ingredients, share their favorite spots around Gyeongju and just take the time to have a friendly chat with us. It’s been a highlight of our trip and I hope I’m able to go back someday.

It's the best snack bar that you could meet between ordinary snack bar. If you're traveling to Gyeongju by BUS, it's a good place to eat a simple meal. I'm very satisfied. I wanna give a star point about 4.5~5. There are many food shops in the bus terminal or in front of the station in each tourist city and these are normally not good. But Gyeongju Terminal has best one. I highly recommend it. Oh, If you finish eating then you have to return the dishes to the counter by your self.

"주스트윤JusteUne" is a hidden gem in Gyeongju, offering a delightful fusion of French and Italian cuisine with a Korean twist. The chef's experience at Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe is evident in the exquisite flavors. Despite its location in a smaller Korean town, the restaurant offers high-quality food at reasonable prices, making it a rare find even by European standards. Guests are impressed by the fantastic taste and exceptional sauces that showcase the chef's skill.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a wineshop in Gyeongju and I was not disappointed. The food was simply amazing. It was French/Italian cuisine with a Korean touch. You can really notice the chef worked in Europe at Michelin star level. I did not expect to find such a restaurant in a smaller Korean town. The price is also good from a European perspective.
