Absolutely dissapointed! It looks like cool fancy place, but in fact it just regular cafe. The prices are quite high for everything. My coffee was discussing 😦 it taste like cheap coffee from convenient store. Ice cream looks so poor as for 10$. Be honest, I was excited high quality brunch, but I've got terrible food and coffee.

Very large cafe with lots of parking and seating. Brunch was good, but some items were off. Bagel not toasted. Not breakfast sausage. Bacon not crispy. Weird bitter side salad. Revisit (reducing to 2 stars): the chicken breast salad is not good. Bitter greens, a chicken breast, and chunks of grapefruit and orange. Like wth is that? And W12,000??? Everything is too Koreanized. 😞

Exotic place in Kyungju! Don't forget before leaving, You should go to the BATHROOM! LOL. The bathroom makes you relax.

Went for dinner on a weekday night. No wait with plenty of seating options and great ambience. Tried their Ragu pasta and seasoning risotto. The ragu pasta was delicious and flavourful. For the risotto, the waiter kindly informed us about the spice level (around shin ramyeon level) and adjusted it to a non spicy version so we could still enjoy it. I think if you can handle a bit of spice, it would definitely enhance its flavour!

Very tasty food in a well refined hanok style restaurant. We were served for a late lunch at 3 PM. If you want to switch from local cuisine and try something fusion, it is the right place to stop by.

Tasty enough. Curry rice was good, truffle spaghetti also not bad. Poutine was more like fries in a Bolognese sauce, not gravy. Flavor aside, the portions are way too small. A grown man such as myself can easily handle two portions of anything here. They must be making a killing. But in some sense, most women are dieting so it's better than letting food go to waste. And such restaurants are always targeting women and hapless boyfriends/husbands.

Nice meal in Korea traditional house. Mostly taste of food is like based on japanese and east asian food. But truffle pasta is little bland.

These were not tasty at all, like a bunch of ingredients cooked together without any sense and a lot of spicy at all. They shall not use names as pizza or risotto since they are not cooking these dishes. Only good thing was beer. Total price 50,000 KRW we may have spent in other place.

Pizza was good, definitely try out the truffle one, soooo good. The pasta and other dishes are just alright. Overall it was pretty decent, you can order from the iPad so if you can’t speak Korean you’ll be fine!

Great pizza and pasta. The pizza's and pasta's are an Asian take on the classic dishes: some dishes are spicy (but it's very clear on the menu). It was surprisingly good. They also have craft beer on draft, i really liked it.

The pizza I had, was a korean twist on pizza which I did not enjoy. However my mate had the same thing and loved it. My warning the pizza has egg on it and kinda tastes sweet. I did get a little adventurous, next time I'll buy something more traditional.

Stopped here for some tea and snacks with my friends on our trip to Gyeongju. We have no Korean but the owner was a lovely lady and it was very easy to order. We each tried two different teas and the grilled rice cakes. It was so delicious.

2025.03.31 Not knowing the type of tea that I should order, the owner of Bichkkuli (빛꾸리) suggested that I tried the healthy persimmon tea made from wild leaves hand-picked from Jiri mountain. The rice cakes came with 6 flavours, - the sticky one entails cutting, pulling and twisting (similar to eating spaghetti). Floor seating with cool ambience. Not for those with weak knee.

If you want a real hanok experience this is the place to visit rather than the many replicas around the neighborhood. I spent many childhood summers here sleeping in those very rooms when the hanok belonged to my grandparents who have long passed on. I came back with my own family 40+ years later to show my daughter where her ancestral home is. It brought tears to my eyes. I’m so grateful to the tea owner who has lovingly restored the hanok rather than tearing it down or making garish renovations. Her handmade teas and rice cakes are wonderful. You’ll feel restored here and will understand a bit more about what life used to be like around here.

Nicey but pricey This restaurant in a side street has a minimum order of 2 servings for each dish. We ordered the braised beef short ribs (sogalbijjim) - 2 x KRW 22,000 which came with a nice selection of ban chan and ssam wraps - lettuce and perilla leaves. We also ordered 1 serve of rice for which we were charged KRW 1,000. It was very tasty but we thought that it was quite pricey.

Delicious pork rib stew. Best meal we've had in Korea so far. The pork flavour is deep with gorgeous garlic, sweet and spicy flavours. The bacham side dishes were delicious and great accompaniments. The staff were friendly and spoke English which was very helpful. The price of 11,000W is per person and you need to order a minimum of 2 of the same dish.

A place for those who know what they want. It has a small menu with food made to perfection. The 이모들 ("aunties") are nice to boot and attentive to when you need more side dishes. Mostly for groups, but I was there solo, so that works too! 이모들, 감사합니다~ :)

I had 유부쫄면 after lining up for half an hour outside the restaurant. It's centrally located and really popular. Really good noodles with a good portion and reasonable price (the soup was amazing).

Huge portion but 6,000 won is not cheap for this type of noodle(jjolmyeon). They have only 4 dishes, all jjolmyeon(with hot/cold soup and dry one). There is usually a waiting during lunch hours but queue was moving quite fast. It tasted good and healthy with lots of veggies but I found quite average.. nothing much to write home about.

I felt that the atmosphere of Myeong-dong Jjolmyeon was really delicious. Because there were many times when people were standing in line. Of course, the taste was delicious. I recommend jjolmyeon. Because my body gets warm. And there are many stores or restaurants around, so I think it would be good to eat, watch, or eat dessert. For dessert, we recommend eating Chalbori bread, Gyeongju bread, or Hwangnam bread, which is Gyeongju's proud dessert.

Nerd is a super cute brunch cafe in the middle of Gyeongju. We waited for about 50 minutes to get in and the vibes were immaculate. The bathroom was clean and had all the amenities you would need including stain remover ! The food was very aesthetic but overall a 7/10. Casual flavours, nothing to write home about but definitely a good brunch. The hash brown was seggsy, definitely get that :) Staff were lovely, vibes were 10-10 and the mocha was lovely. Great little gem in Gyeongju for western breakfast/brunch food. They have 2 vegan food options on the menu (Walk in the forest platter and avocado toast) and both are delicious and beautifully presented. Their coffee was excellent too, and they do have oat milk. They also offer free water. Service was attentive and friendly and the interior is filled with light and plants. Highly recommend this place!

Absolutely delicious. The pork is tender and smells really good; no gamey odor. I had the bossam, which comes with veggies to wrap the meat in... I appreciate the wasabi/soy sauce they provide, as well as the freshness of the kimchi. At the end, I had their denjang (soybean paste stew) with a little rice, which capped off a really great meal. The service is friendly and during these cold months, they keep the floors good and hot.

The place is nice with a view on the street. I ordered cold noodles with kimchi dumplings. I usually don’t eat noodles especially cold ones but this one has changed my mind. Instead of offering the main menu they advertise, I was only given the option of a few side dishes — nothing like the authentic spread people expect. There are plenty of restaurants in Gyeongju, like Danhyanghoe, that offer a beautiful setting, warm service, and the full traditional experience regardless of whether you come solo or with a group. Dosol Maeul sadly fails on both hospitality and cleanliness. Not recommended.

Had a sumptuous lunch here with colleagues last week. Really delicious bulgogi with a great variety of banchan to choose from. My fave is the variety of greens you can wrap your bulgogi with because they're fresh and crisp. I love this historical Korean city, There is SO much to see and experience. We stayed in a traditional korean house called the Hwangnamgwan Hanok Hotel. Where you can see the ancient tombs of the kings. If you have the time go and visit Cheomachong Tomb its a beautiful picture of Koreas ancient history. A little bit of a walk or quick drive, and you can find the ancient observatory was built in 647 CE called Cheomseongdae. It's especially beautiful at night. Not far from there is the Bulguksa Buddhist temple up on the mountain called toham, stunning in its craftsmanship and history. The Stone Buddah is another incredible site! Called Seokgruam Grotto It's carved from granit in the cave, is facing eastern sea where the King is buried to be reincarnated as a dragon to protect from invasion from the East. Being an ancient city, much of the construction that is done is done carefully since many artifacts are found when breaking ground. Which explains why its super tricky to drive down the narrow streets with cars moving both directions-- throw-in golf carts and pedestrians that add a bit of an extra challenge. However, it's incredible how patient everyone is with each other. This city is a must-see if you want to go on a lovely historical adventure.

The outside garden is breathtaking and very picturesque for a summer dinner. We were less happy with our raw fish salad that had many bones and was a bit hard to chew. We would also like to have taken it a bit slower - in our case all of the dishes were on our table within 40 minutes of being seated. Overall a positive experience.

We ate at House of Choi for dinner. We ate the 69,000 won meal option as we booked late. We were given a private room and our appetizers immediately came out. The first three dishes were delicious. It was followed by a salad and raw fish with seaweed wrap. The final set of dish was a simple Korean side dishes with rice, along with galbi-gin. The first set of dishes were great for set meal. The last dishes were like from a cheap Korean restaurant. The galbi was overcooked and chewy. The server was rushing to serve our dishes even though we were still working on our last set of meals. They don't monitor us and serve the next set of dish as we finish each set. They claim that they have a big party and needed to serve all the rooms together. That seems like lazy service. The price of the meal was not worth it. I recommend other restaurants more reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Not sure if they're trying to Michelin Star or not but they are a long way from it if they are.

One of the highlights of our trip to Gyeongju. We got one of the set meal with plum wine. Food was delicious and worth the trip - it just kept coming! They also ordered us a taxi for us to get home!

Baru is a vegan restaurant in Gyeongju serving so called ‘temple food’. The food is among the best vegan food I ever had and I do not eat meat, which means that I frequently eat vegetarian food and have a bit of knowledge in that area. Vegan food is always under the suspicion of tasting a bit boring and actually my experience is that this judgement is not always entirely wrong. The food being served here however is anything but boring. For a mere 18.000 Won which is about 14 Euro you get an enormous amount and variety of different foods, I think it must have been 18 plates with different specialties. The ingredients are fresh. The combinations of the different flavours of the ingredients along with the different spices are very impressive and the food tastes really good. When you keep in mind that this is a small, rather cheap restaurant, I dare say it’s almost beyond comprehension. A very good example is the tempura, which they serve among the dishes. Tempura is a good indicator when trying to distinguish ordinary restaurants from very good restaurants, as it is always a challenge to create a tempura where the contents of the dough are cooked but still firm and the dough does not drip with oil. Here, they excel at the task of creating tempura almost as in Japan. My guess would be that in large cities in Germany, where I am from, you would have to pay three times as much here and the restaurant would be classified as ‘haute cuisine’. The reviews were very positive, so our expectations were high—but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to them. When we arrived, it was freezing and windy, yet we were told to wait outside because no tables were available. However, through the window we could clearly see several empty tables with dirty dishes on them, as well as an unused counter area. No one made any effort to clear a spot or offer us somewhere warmer to wait. After standing in the cold for 20 minutes, we went back in—only to realize the staff had forgotten about us. They seemed surprised to see us again, and finally let us in. The pizza arrived quickly, and the dough was actually quite good. That said, the size was really small—definitely not what you’d expect for the price, especially by Italian standards. What struck us most was how disorganized everything felt. We saw other people being turned away while tables around us stayed dirty and unused, and the staff didn’t seem in a rush to improve the situation. In the end, we left disappointed. This place does require phone reservations so I highly recommend asking your hotel staff to call the restaurant the moment you check into your hotel. Distance wise it is quite a distance if you take public transportation so I highly recommend taking taxi from 황리단길(Hwangnidangil). Depending on the traffic, it only took us 18min to get here. Another important note! This place does not accept customers after 5pm. We learned it the hard way. Instead of snacking at Hwangnidangil, come straight here and eat a healthy hearty meal. We weren’t brave enough to try his recommended fried dish (pork rectum) but saw a lot of people enjoying it. We opted for the chicken cream pasta (which came with a breaded/fried chicken cutlet) and a half order of the salmon futomaki. Glad we opted for half as it was HUGE. TIP - ARRIVE EARLY to ensure a table. They opened at 6 PM for dinner yesterday and by 6:01 they were completely full. We walked in at 6 on the dot and got the second to last two seats. I read other reviews saying they waited 5 hours (not worth that wait IMO). The food itself is 4 stars as it was nothing speciiiaaaalllll but overall rating bumped up to 5 due to hospitality, atmosphere (young, hip crowd), and value for money. If we lived here we would be regulars for sure. If you can snag a table, check it out!

The soups appeared scrumptious as we watched other diners order them. However, we made the mistake of choosing beef and chicken dishes instead, which did not live up to our expectations. The beef was cold, and some pieces had an unpleasant gristly texture.

Best was definitely the fish and sliced beef and we’re not usually huge fish people. The chicken pasta was fun - had a kick to it with some chilli but other than that was pretty standard creamy chicken pasta. Tomatoes were a fresh side and the sushi was fine but more a personal taste of not loving huge rolls of sushi. A solid spot in town!

Was a nice eating experience with the iPad ordering and overall vibe inside. There are both vegetarian and vegan options available which is a bonus. I would recommend the burrito bowls as they were delicious. They do offer a birria ramen dish, I would recommend this as something to share between multiple people alongside their meals. As fun of an idea this is I’m not sure how well it would work as a dish by itself. If you’re in the area and looking for Mexican food or just something healthy then I would recommend stopping by however there is no need to go out of your way to eat here.

I think I may have been unlucky, but I was very disappointed that I only ate one meal in Gyeongju. (Original) 가게오픈한 지 얼마 안되서 갔을 때 너무 훌륭했었기 때문에 기대를 가지고 이번 방문에서도 오픈시간 맞춰갔는데 실망뿐이었네요. 1. 11시 30분경 입장 후, 1시간 지나서 스테이크 나옴(식음) 음식 나오는 간격이 너무 깁니다 (메인 30분씩 걸림) 2. 소다에 탄산이 다 빠진 채 나와서 다시 요청했더니 기계가 고장 났다고 커피와 허브티 중에 고르라했는데 아메리카노나 티백차가 식사와 어울리지가 않잖아요.. (옆 테이블에서도 ‘커피라니’ 라고 하시더라구요) 손님 테이블에 나가기 전에 미리 확인해야하는 부분이구요 위치상의 불편함을 생각하며 그러려니했지만 저였다면 그냥 마트라도 다녀왔을 것 같네요. 3. 파스타 양 실화인가요? 저 많이 먹는 타입 아닌데 이건 초등학생이 와도 모자랄 양이었어요. 그릇도 큰 편 아닌데; 이전 방문에서는 전혀 모자라단 느낌을 못 받았어요 4. 음식 간이 강해요. 다 먹고나니 혀가 얼얼한 느낌 처음보다 직원이 두 배로 늘어났지만 전혀 쳐내지 못하는 느낌이었습니다. 음식들 다 직접 신경써서 하신다는 거 다 알겠는데, 여러 가지로 만족은 못했어요. 맛이 없다고는 안할게요. 제가 운이 없는 편이었을 거라고 생각은 하지만 경주에서 한 끼만 먹고 왔는데 너무 아쉬웠습니다.

The perfect place to grab some delicious and unique cocktails. Every drink we had was delicious and special — many used local liquors and seasonal ingredients and the atmosphere was comfortable with beautiful views. But what made our visit really special was the staff. They took the time to help with recommendations, explain the different ingredients, share their favorite spots around Gyeongju and just take the time to have a friendly chat with us. It’s been a highlight of our trip and I hope I’m able to go back someday.

I’ve been to Gyeongju several times, but this was my first visit to Prep. The flavors were beautifully expressed, and the atmosphere was just as impressive. It truly made my trip to Gyeongju even more memorable. (Thanks to Antidote Seoul for the recommendation.)

Not only the place has the coolest view and vibes, the cocktails were incredible, the vive super nice, and I was treated by great conversation with my bartender Ji-Sung. He explained all drinks, gave a taster of local rice wines and overall made me feel very welcome as a solo traveller 🫰🏻 love the place

this bar is a gem. coming NY, the standard is pretty high but the cocktails here are so delicious. There was such depth to each sip i took. unfortunately i discovered this place too late into my stay in gyeongju, or else i would have tried every single cocktail on their menu. PLEASEEEE YOU MUST TRY!! other bars in the area trade you a free cocktail/snack for a review but not this place!! i'm leaving this review purely because it was truly amazing. PS- the staff saw i was cold and gave me a handwarmer!!

We've been in Gyeongju for a few days and ended up in this neighborhood not far from where we're staying. Entered too early so we went back once they opened and so glad we did! Best cocktail bar period. Great staff! Delicious food and the service couldn't be better. We will always remember this magical place. Thank you all!♥️ Order anything! You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely loved this place. Cocktails are very well executed and original, the 2 bartenders were super nice, we had great chat with them learning about life in Korea. The atmosphere is very relaxing, you cannot go wrong with this little gem!

Highly recommended bar in the heart of Geongju. The cocktails are excellent and reflect the Korean culture and thr service is excellent with attention to small details Highly recommended!

Freshly prepared fusion food. The vegan curry was spicy and flavourful. The salad was a generous portion and very fresh. Friendly service and cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend.

This one man run restaurant serves great vegan food. Not many dishes to choose from but who cares, the ones he served were very very tasty! Friendly guy and truly recommend eating here, your taste buds will thank you!

One of the few vegan options around. A small menu but quite tasty. The owner is very friendly and speaks some English. They present live music on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Not a lot of seating.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and unfortunately it was closed with a sing of "Sold out" 😭 we were still in the city on Monday so we went back and we were so happy to finally have some proper vegan food! It was really flavourful and delicious. My fake chicken was ultra layered full of taste. We loved it! Thank you for cooking vegan!!!

It is so nice to find a vegan place in Korea! The food is delicious (I chose the curry) and the restaurant is very cozy and nice 😍 we ordered to take away and it was fast. Totally recommend!

The vegan chicken is really good, such as the salad! The inside of the restaurant is also really chill and cute. Great service as well :) Everything is vegan so go!

I came here because of my vegetarian friend and had some vegan chicken and chips. The vegan chicken marinade was the best that I have had in a while, a good level of spicy but not too spicy. I ended up ordering a second portion which made the guy behind the counter blush and smile, which was very wholesome :)
