Malt Cross is a historic Victorian Music Hall in Nottingham, known for its charity-run bar and eatery. The venue boasts period features and a deep woods ambiance, offering regular live music performances. In addition to Malt Cross, visitors can explore other unique places such as the Trip to Jerusalem public house, Lost Caves cocktail bar, and the Hand and Heart, all featuring cave rooms for dining and drinking experiences.
Amazing classic british pub that I found in this city. The interior was so unique like a concert hall. They also have a stage in the middle maybe for a live music performance. I tried sunday roast here and was very affordable and quite tasty for me. The price is reasonably good and the waiter was so friendly. They dont have table service so you must find a table first and then go to the counter to book and remember your table.

Such a cute pub no idea why I have never been in. Their pie was really good and not awfully priced. Pub quiz was mint would have come first if we didn’t have 7 on our team. Also downside is that it was boiling upstairs I felt like I was in a greenhouse. Will be back when it is cooler and I am not gonna melt
Maria R — Google review
Lovely venue, great food, and friendly service. The music was a little bit loud for a family Sunday lunch vibe but otherwise great venue!
Deanne B — Google review
A lovely space just off the main square, great for a quick drink or a longer stay. The bar staff were friendly and the drinks and coffees we ordered were spot on. We didn’t order food but it looked equally as good. There’s plenty of seating options from small tables to larger areas. There was a small games library which was nice to see.
Hayley R — Google review
Had never been here before somehow but it’s a great old spot which used to be a music hall in nottingham city centre. Good selection on tap, and very busy
Stan T — Google review
Beer was drinkable, just. I left half of it, and I love beer. Dinner also sub-standard; veg. underdone, no crackling, watery gravy and none of it exactly piping hot. Won't be returning. A shame as the building is wonderful. A 😕
Alex B — Google review
A Sunday roast like you were at home. The best trad roast in town. Lovely staff and great beers. Brilliant way to spend an autumn afternoon.
Neil P — Google review
Been here couple of times so it’s time to leave my reviews. Very nice and cosy place to have drinks or enjoy food. I love to sit top floor and enjoy view of hall where people having bit fun. Cool staff and good service. This time they had security at door which was good. They’re serving mix drinks in keg and cask. Good to be here.

BrewDog Nottingham is a no-nonsense chain bar located in a 100-year-old factory building on Broad Street. It's one of the oldest BrewDog venues in the country and is known for its extensive collection of craft beers, including regular guest brews. The venue offers beer school experiences where participants can learn about the history and process of creating signature brews. Additionally, visitors can enjoy craft beer, ales, and burgers at this popular spot in Nottingham.
We had a wonderful time at the Brewdog Nottingham as a family. We were met by 2 extremely helpful and friendly young men who helped my elderly parents with seating and explained the menu really well. We all had pizzas which were absolutely delicious and a flight of beers. Everything was fantastic, thank you. Laurence and his colleague were brilliant, they were A) Legendary B) Charming C) Worthy of a pint and D) ALL of the above!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🐾 🍻 We recently held our very first dachshund charity event at BrewDog Nottingham, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the team made everything seamless and stress-free. A huge thank you to Jenn, the manager, for not only donating the space to us but also organising an incredible fundraiser of their own to support our charity—an amazing and generous surprise that truly meant the world to us. We also want to give a special shout-out to Joe and Cam, who were absolutely brilliant on the day. Their support, energy, and kindness helped make the event such a success. Our supporters had a fantastic time, and we’re so grateful to the entire BrewDog Nottingham team for helping us pull off such a memorable day. We can’t wait to come back! 🐾🍻

Service was decent, pizza was nice, a little pricey but was expected. Atmosphere was fine. Would recommend for a few afternoon drinks

Both Joe and Sophia were very attentive and welcoming. We popped in for a drink and a bite to eat, and didn't expect how good the pizza was (Joe top work). Both my wife and I would recommend coming back, thanks for making our wedding anniversary quick drinks perfect.

Had lunch here today. Joe was great and made some really good pizzas. The nachos were good but not amazing. Atmosphere was OK but we were the only customers sat inside the whole time we were there.
Matthew K — Google review
Dropping by for a pre-theatre drink. Great choice of keg beers and samples offered freely. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Nice buzz to the place even early evening in the midweek.
Cliff P — Google review
Great service from Joe, who had a wealth of knowledge about all the beers on offer. Joe was running the whole place solo (it was Sunday lunch time and fairly quiet) but still managed to accomplish everyone’s food and drinks orders, preparing and cooking our food himself whilst also engaging with all the customers that came in during our visit.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a renowned and peculiar ancient pub nestled in stone caves. It boasts a charming and quirky interior, complete with resident ghosts. The pub provides delectable food options alongside its traditional ale, making it an enticing destination for visitors. Located in Nottinghamshire, England, this historic establishment holds the distinction of being one of the country's oldest public houses.
As good as it gets. An old fascinating and historical pub Built into the cliff side ,Great old architecture, lots of small rooms over two floors. With two outdoor areas. Very nice food and menu selection. Helpful and friendly staff. A must visit for all ,Ghosts Included.
Mick K — Google review
Recommended by a friend in Ohio, and what a recommendation! I had lunch after touring Nottingham Castle, which I would recommend as Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is in a cave under the castle. Like all structures of this era, the ceilings are quite low and the stairs and rooms are quite twisty and full of surprises. The staff was so nice and efficient. I ordered at the bar downstairs and had my meal delivered to a table on the next floor (see video). I’ve taken many trips to the UK, and frequented many establishments with signs claiming the “world’s best fish and chips.”. The fish was amazing and perfectly prepared. The chips were not greasy at all, and very flavorful. The highlight was the fresh peas! Bursting with flavor. I rate the fish and chips second only to the Mayfair Chippy in London, however, the ambiance and experience takes it over the top even if you’re only slopping by for a pint.
Andrew G — Google review
Visited for the first time for a Sunday roast. Best to go before 12.30pm so you can get a table and the Sunday roasts are still available. Ordered the beef roast and beef croquettes. Delicious and reasonably priced. Service was splendid. Inside the pub was literally still like a cave. I will definitely go back again.
K ( — Google review
After visiting the castle and surroundings places stoped here 1st just to take photos and check out the pub but ended up having late afternoon meal. The food was tasty and the atmosphere gives it a cosy and nice vibe. Best was seeing people talking and not with their faces glued to the phones. It's a little tight inside but that's what gives the pub a charm, combined with it beenig carved into the hillside. The staff was very nice, good service. The pub was clean and despite beeing full no bad smells inside. The bar offers a nice variety of drinks. Outside seating with plenty of tables and an inside smaller court. The outside seating comes in handy in warm sunny days to enjoy food and drinks with friends or family. There's on street paid parking next to the pub. Will be returning when visiting Nottingham again.
Daniel A — Google review
It was very easy to give this historical 12th century pub nestled into the caves of Nottingham Castle a maximum rating. I received very good bar service and a generous discount being a CAMRA member. The bartender was quite knowledgeable about local ales and some of the history of the pub; even the regular customer propping up the bar, was keen to chat about both subjects. I can imagine that as autumn becomes autumnal with howling winds, the cooler temperatures and the long nights, this pub will be a gem for supernatural thrill seekers. Will definitely return very soon!
Paul B — Google review
Well this really is a very special pub to visit. Its an absolute gem of a pub carved into the sand stone of Nottingham Castle. Its possibly the oldest pub in England but wasbis for sure is the warm welcome from the staff who are very friendly and knowledgeable of the ales and beers on offer. Lots of great seating inside and out and super fine ales. The beer choice really is very good. I look forward to coming back again soon.
Adrian W — Google review
Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem is a great little pub. It is partially underground set in a cave, so a very interesting setting. There is a really good menu catering for almost everyone. Vegetarian, and vegan options available, and for people with specific allergies. The food arrived promptly, and was delicious, as well as generous. Very friendly, and attentive staff behind the bar. Great range of beers and ales. Must go back as I only had two! The others look very inviting and attractive to lovers of Real Ales. No complaints at all. Highly recommended.

Amazing venue. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and service was quick. No complaints! Only had an hour for food and a quick drink - wish I could have stayed longer.

Hand & Heart is a unique and characterful pub located in Nottingham, just a few minutes from the town center. The pub's dining room is situated within sandstone caves dating back to the Saxon era, offering a truly atmospheric experience. Visitors can enjoy live music, Victorian bar vibes, and even a conservatory upstairs. The pub also offers its signature Light Hearted ale to complement their hearty breakfasts, sumptuous Sunday roasts, and traditional pub grub.
Had Sunday lunch for the first time with the original chef back and the new manager. Truly excellent, as good as it used to be. Service and staff were excellent. Fantastic food and drink, with real attention to the real ale. A tap takeover from the Bang the Elephant brewery with some excellent beers. It's good to see a welcome return to form on all fronts. Very much worth the walk up Derby Road.

Me and my sister came here for dinner! As soon as we got in the staff was lovely! I didn't get her name but there was a very nice lady wearing red with brown hair that was a star! As for the food, it came out quickly and was beautiful. I first got the soup with the bread! The bread was fluffy and yummy! And the soup was flavorful and a good portion! My sister got the brie cheese wedge and it was full of cheese!! Then I got the pork belly and it was amazing! The pork was succulent and full of flavour! The sauce it came with was delicious and the veg was cooked perfectly! My sister got the burger and it was juicy and full of flavour! The chunky chips were to die for! And the atmosphere was so unique! How often do you get to have dinner in a cave!! Lovely dinner location!!
Shona M — Google review
We’ve been coming to Hand & Heart for years, so when we heard it was under new management, we were a little nervous, especially since the Sunday roast has always been a favourite. But I’m beyond grateful (and relieved!) to say it’s still absolutely exceptional…if not even better! I had the Pork Roast, which was cooked to perfection, while the rest of my family opted for the Beetroot Wellington, and everything was divine. You must try the cauliflower cheese and piggies in blankets, one of each is plenty for two people, and they’re both absolutely delicious. The quality and attention to detail in the food are outstanding. The service was just as impressive, the staff were incredibly attentive, and I was genuinely surprised to see there was no service charge. Even when we tried to tip, the manager wouldn’t accept it! The pub still has the same cozy charm, and the cave setting remains as beautiful as ever. It was also fantastic value for money. There were six of us, we each had a roast, a drink or two, and the total came to under £180, a rarity for a meal of this standard. We went for Mother’s Day as a treat for my mum and auntie, and it was such a special experience. I honestly can’t recommend Hand & Heart enough, if you’re after a top-quality roast in a stunning setting with outstanding service, this is the place to go!
Shivani S — Google review
It's the first time that we have been since the pub reopened. We were looking for some different beers but unfortunately we picked the day of the Castle Rock tap takeover. We do like their beers but as they are our biggest local brewery we had already tried them all. We will try again. It was pretty quiet but we did visit early afternoon.
Malcolm S — Google review
Cracking pup close to the city centre with amazing food and an interesting interior. We went for Sunday lunch & it was fantastic, we both opted for the lamb which was well cooked and presented with the expected veggies. As a side we shared the pig in blanket with was a little disappointing for the price. Beers are fine and the deserts looked good too although we left a little earlier than I expected due to poor seating. The service wasn't the best but no major complaints as it was busy and they did cope. Really enjoyed it, good food but I won't be rushing back.
Stevie B — Google review
Went here for a really good Sunday roast for Mother’s Day. Food was superb and service excellent - they really looked after us and our 5 year old son. Setting in the cave with fairy lights is really unique and well worth a visit.

Visitor to Nottingham. Spectacular setting .. Pub in a cave! Great well kept cask ales .. good range pale/IPA/classic bitter/stout/mild 💪👍 congrats to the landlord. Food was equally as good ... Tasty wholesome and filling. Definitely back here next time I'm in Nottingham. Thank you for a great experience.
Phil O — Google review
Amazing pub, since it's had a makeover it's one of our favourite places to go and luckily it's a 5 minute walk from us. Sunday dinner is a must in the cave, portion sizes are the biggest I've seen! The Yorkshire puddings are amazing, lots of vegetables, roasts and a choice of 3 meats. The staff are friendly and attentive and welcoming. Always recommend it to family and friends!

The Cross Keys in Nottingham is a historic pub with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Once known for its bright yellow exterior, the pub has undergone a transformation and now offers wood-paneled rooms, cask ales, and craft beers. The upstairs dining room provides a relaxed setting to enjoy delicious meals prepared by Chef Des Sweeney, who has even cooked for the Royal Family in the past.
31/5 Four of us attended. We sat outside for a drink first which was lovely. The pub has a great selection of beers including real ales (they had 4 on at the time). We went inside for food which was delicious and reasonably priced. Presentation was excellent too. The pub itself is great, a proper oldy worldy pub with character and the staff were all so happy, friendly, efficient and helpful (especially the lady with the lovely arm tattoo) who served us. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable 🙂

Great pub for a date night, solo date night or hang with friends! The staff are super friendly and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS and cooked to perfection! I would definitely return - I don't often eat out alone but after this experience I definitely will again - great "me" time 😊
Laurie N — Google review
Really impressed with our Sunday lunch - generous portions and the beef was extremely tasty. Minor gripe is that the Yorkshire pudding had been kept warm so that it had dried out entirely, being almost dusty when eaten. Other than that, I’d say was excellent. I’m not into sports bars so didn’t especially enjoy the match being on while trying to eat.
Alexander L — Google review
Wanted to try the new menu after refurb and were excited, ordered 2 of the chicken schnitzel and were enjoying our meal until we discovered it was raw inside. Both of us were put off our meals and ask for the dishes to be taken away. The main issue was that there wasn't an apology, and as we both ordered the same dish we asked to be refunded and the waitress was rude and only offered to refund one and said "yours isn't raw" to the other dish. We were eventually fully refunded. Not normally one to write reviews but felt this needed to be addressed.

What a superb place to visit for lunch and not overly expensive either. My friend and I had an enjoyable visit, the pub wasn't busy, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Nottingham and another tasty lunch here.

A wonderful meal for my partner's 30th birthday. We had a lovely table upstairs and the food was delightful. A big thanks to the staff who brought out a birthday cake after the meal which we'd left behind the bar. We all thoroughly enjoyed the roast dinners and look forward to our next visit. Thanks again

Had a couple of meals at the Cross Keys recently. The staff are always super friendly and helpful, particularly tasting new beers. The food is super delicious. I am a big fan of the sausage and mash and the really tasty gravy. Friends had sandwiches which were really full, fresh and well presented.

The Canalhouse is a charming waterside pub located in a former canal museum, known for its unique feature of having a canal extending inside the Grade II listed building with resident narrow boats. The pub offers a wide selection of real ales and international beers, along with unfussy food that ranges from pub classics to delectable desserts.
One of the unique pubs I’ve been to and it has a lot of space. With the canal in built to the venue, it adds up a pleasant vibe. Also, a great selection of beers and the staff is friendly. Ideal to bar hop as there are a few other pubs close by.
Thinasha M — Google review
Dropped in for the last pint of the night (Tuesday) here... so very quiet and no food required. The real ale was just right and there was a reasonable selection and under £5 a pint. What drew me here, however was the unusual building - as the name implies, the heritage attached to the pub centres on it's past and the centrepiece being a narrow boat floating in a dock and a bridge across to reach the bar. Very spacious with the toilets on upper levels. I found the staff welcoming and knowledgeable. The lighting was a tad bright but this may have been to encourage final drinkers out!
Graham H — Google review
I didn't try the food here but I was there for the water front festival. The only negative thing to say is that my disabled friends couldn't gain proper safe access as not only was the place so packed full of people but not of the stages blocked the lift that would provide access to the upper floor stage. They went home disappointed which was a shame. However the atmosphere was electric, the bands put on a great show although times ran over so much I had to miss my friends band play. Service was okay but as they were so busy I can't comment on how they would be in normal circumstances. The place is beautiful though, they have taken great care to create something special here. I enjoyed my day and evening.
Maz J — Google review
Hi to the owner of the canal house. I like the atmosphere, beer and service from the staff so much here, but my only complaint is the female toilet. The water in the sink is like dripping miracle water in a desert. It would be nice if it you could fix it :)

Great pub. Nice areas inside for drinks or food. Menu looked good. The outside seating it such a gem though, great view and a perfect spot to catch a bit of sunshine... and there really is a canal boat inside the pub.

We recently chose to have our wedding reception at The Canalhouse in Nottingham, and it was the best decision we could have made. Amy, the Events Manager, and her amazing team went above and beyond to make our day truly unforgettable. From our very first meeting, Amy was warm, welcoming, and incredibly organised. She put us at ease straight away and made sure every detail was thought through. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her…she even met with our DJs ahead of time to coordinate the evening plans and timings! We brought in our own decorations and shared our vision for the day, and Amy and her team quite literally brought our dream to life. Walking into the room as husband and wife and seeing it all come together for the first time was magical. The food was exceptional…it arrived on time, tasted amazing, and catered perfectly for guests with allergies and special requests. We received so many compliments on how efficient, friendly, and attentive the staff were throughout the day. Honestly, our wedding wouldn’t have been as perfect without Amy. She and her team absolutely smashed it out of the park. We can’t thank them enough for the care, effort, and attention to detail they put into everything. If you’re thinking of hosting a celebration at The Canalhouse then DO IT!! You’ll be in the best hands. Amy, we appreciate you so much. Thank you again for making our day so special. ❤️ Amy & Mitch 18.10.25

It's known for its raucous live shows and has even hosted early performances by bands like Arctic Monkeys.
Our first time visiting this establishment, we travelled to see Dunes, an excellent band from Newcastle. We enjoyed our food, there's a great selection of craft ales available and all the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The old chapel upstairs is where the bands play, it's a truly beautiful building and full credit to the sound engineer, the sound was excellent. We will definitely revisit and if you love live music, it's a hidden gem!

Really great building lot's of seating, friendly staff and even manage to meet the brewer who was super friendly. Definitely a place to visit.

I hadn’t been here in years, but stopped by for a quick lunch and decided to check out the menu. I went with the tempeh sandwich, which arrived promptly. The portion was a decent size and the sandwich was quite tasty, though I would’ve preferred better quality bread personally. 3.5 ⭐️

Our first visit for a gig, and what a fabulous place! The building itself is a wonderful rabbit warren full of history, and the Chapel venue upstairs is superb. The sound is 👌 with the sound engineer commanding from the pulpit 🙏 We ate before the gig, and both had the Buffalo Chicken burger, which was excellent, so tasty 😋 There is an amazing selection of 🍻 as to be expected. All the staff were friendly and there was a great atmosphere.

Fantastic to see great effort put I to the vegetarian and vegan options. So much choice, seitan on the menu too which was nice to see I like mine a little tougher so might have needed some battering before the first boil, but I was absolutely thrilled to be able to order it. It was good. The veg was lovely and so was the Yorkie and gravy. Toilets are frankly the worst I've seen in some time. Hot tap completely destroyed, facilities a bit rank to be honest. Service was generally okay, first chap we said hello to was really nice, fella who brought our food order was decent too. Bar staff were unengaged and didn't really seem to care about anything but the basics of why they were there which is a shame. It didn't feel very welcoming. DJ was a nice touch, the soul and soft disco played was really nice. Sort the toilets and the customer experience side of things and this place would be incredible.

Great pub with good food on a Sunday! There was a group playing Irish music which was really nice. After drinking a few pints next to the bar, we moved to another area to sit down for the Sunday roast. It was delicious.

Best pub in Nottingham City centre providing great beer's brewed on the premises, excellent unfussy food & the best mix tape around. The angel has a very eclectic mix of customers adding to its appeal & the staff are superb Well worth finding out & enjoying Easy 5 stars

Always love a visit to The Angel - great old fashioned atmosphere! However I’ve knocked a star off for what is (for me personally) a terrible beer selection. I always struggle to find a decent pint here; yesterday I counted on the boards 12 IPA type ales, along with 1 stout, several lagers & ciders and not one bitter. Why do pubs today assume that everyone wants IPA? All I want is a smooth, drinkable bitter like Landlord, Abbott, Old Pecular.

Nestled in a cozy spot, The Barrel Drop is a charming hideaway with a welcoming atmosphere. This Nottingham gem offers an array of craft beer, cask ales, and gin for visitors to enjoy while engaging in some friendly competition with the various board games available. Despite its small size and discreet location on Hurts Yard, this micro pub is highly recommended for those seeking an authentic ale-drinking experience.
Lovely little craft beer place tucked away in the city centre. Well worth seeking out. Great choice of cask and keg beers from local and top brewers.

We paaed this hidden-away gem on our route to a restaurant & returned for a beer. Totally lovely, with a fine choice of both proper beers & the trendy Kraft stuff. Quiz night while we were there; I wish we had eaten earlier & spent more time in the Barrel Drop!

Terrific selection of craft brews in a charming setting. Comfortable and cosy. We were just in Nottingham for a night and en route to see a band, so our stop was too short. We will definitely return on our next visit. I had the Gelato and it was deceptively smooth and far too yummy. It's a place I could definitely spend a few hours to chill.

I've been on a few times but only visited it in passing. I keep meaning to have a proper session there soon. It's quite a all pub and it's hidden away in a narrow alley right in the centre of Nottingham which makes it tricky to find but it's always well worth it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and always a great selection of well kept beers.

Visited for my birthday, despite only being a small place they were able to accommodate a group of 8 of us. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and board games made it a great place to spend an afternoon. Even if the beers aren’t your thing, they have a great range of soft and hot drinks. Highly recommend!

I would have given more - we always come in when we go to Nottingham. The beer selection is great and love the atmosphere- the staff are friendly However, now there is a sitting and standing toilet- no toilet facilities specifically for women, we sadly, won't be back. I went to the loo but quickly had to leave as it had been used by a chap before me who had clearly had a poo. I understand when you have to go, you have to go. Sadly there is a distinct difference with most men and most women's toilets habits. If they made the men's into a cubicle with a toilet as opposed to a urinal only, this would be preferable. I wonder what men who needed a poo did- before they were allowed access to the ladies? I'm probably going to get slated for this review but it is an honest one.

Ye Olde Salutation Inn is a historic 15th-century pub located above Anglo-Saxon caves, making it one of the contenders for Nottingham's oldest pub. The Grade II listed building is rumored to be the most haunted pub in England, with some parts dating back to the 13th century. The interior boasts stone-flagged flooring and oak beams, creating an atmosphere steeped in history.
We had a Sunday roast which was amazing. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the beers are fantastic. Would love to see this place on a Friday or Saturday night. Will be coming back to Nottingham just to see.

Classic Pub. Billed as one of the oldest in the country. Might be, because the interior especially the snugs look right from the 1200s. Place just feels historical. Good pint, good selection of spirits. Possibly some actual spirits.

There is a cave with a well under this Inn that we went too with our ghost tour, it was an eary place and when we went back up and popped in at the bar they had all these never seen before beers with interesting names and their decor was just as eary and ghostly. We had some beers and just checked out all the cool decor. The beer was cold, the atmosphere was great and fun, the service was excelent and when you order a beer it comes in a glass with the beers name on it. This was a really fun place to visit and have some drinks, go on spoil yourself, go there, you deserve it!!!! Mabe you will see a ghost, wouldnt that be spectacular.

Very cool Pub said to be the oldest in England. Reasonable prices considering location and what they probably could charge being attached to a major tourist attraction. Great selection of beer and very cool to see it carved into the side of the mountain that Nottingham castle sits on.

The Bell Inn is a historic pub located in the heart of Nottingham city center, originally built in the 15th century. It has retained many original features and offers classic food and beers. The pub also has a beer garden and shows live sports on TV. The Bell Inn is known for its connection to local history, as it was once a refectory for monks and played a role in the riots protesting against the Reform Act in 1831.
The food was absolutely wonderful; it was our first stop upon arriving in Nottingham, and we were delighted with how well it began our trip. The Pit & Pendulum is a unique and atmospheric Gothic-themed pub located in Nottingham. With its dark and eerie ambiance, Victorian-inspired interiors, and vintage trinkets, it offers a one-of-a-kind drinking experience. The menu features a mix of global dishes, classic pub food, and signature cocktails. While the craft beer selection may be limited, the venue compensates with offerings like Hobgoblin ale.
Unusual large pub live music and amazing decor. Upstairs and downstairs bars. Very popular, especially At weekends. Find the toilets. Ha ha, behind the bookcase. Very Gothic in design and worth a visit.

Food was nice, portion is alright, not big but enough for an average stomach. The decor was interesting and quite special.
SyL C — Google review
The fun Gothic interior is why I popped in with an old friend to grab a beer and hang out for a while. I wasn’t overwhelmed with the choice of ales, but what I had was unfamiliar and not horrible! I’d have preferred something like a Guinness as a decent standard. Anyway we sat downstairs and my friend enjoyed the bookcase toilet door, still looks and works well. It was a flying visit so I’d probably have found a better beer if I’d looked harder. Overall definitely worth popping in for one, especially if you’re in a group and like something out of the ordinary.

The Embankment is a historic pub located on the city side of Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Housed in a Grade II-listed building that was once Boots Store No.2, it has a rich history dating back to 1907. The venue offers spaces for conferences, weddings, and events, and features amenities such as a skittle alley, snooker tables, bar, and catering services.
Cracking pub, easily my favourite during our recent stay for a few days in Nottingham. The building is superb, with the internals furnished and decorated really well and done so in the spirit of the building's origins. It has an interesting history worth reading up on. There are plenty of seating areas all with their own character, it is like a Tardis as keep finding more areas and nooks. Great range of beers on keg and cask, and a well stocked fridge with a decent discount if taking them away - I grabbed a couple. Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and clearly have a passion for the beer they are serving. If we go back to Nottingham, this will be a must visit for us. We didn't eat here so can't comment on food, so regard the 5 stars for food as for drink instead! p.s. I will let you know how good the Vault City Creme is once I've drunk it!!

My partner organised my 50th birthday to be held here yesterday 20/09/2025. At first all was good until I saw the food that he had paid £300 for, 3 small trays of finger sandwiches, a bowl of salad a tray of pork pie and sausage rolls and 2 very small slate boards with cubed pork belly chunks and chicken skewers. Be lucky if the amount of food cost £100 let alone £300. Was only enough food for 12 guests nowhere near for 24 people, he only booked it there as it said it had a skittle alley and I play in a woman’s team every Thursday through the winter months, this wasn’t a skittle alley at all there were pins on a plate on a carpeted area and the balls were more like rough coconuts, you couldn’t play at all. All in all you could say that my birthday celebrations were ruined. The manager jade didn’t seem interested in what we had to say about it.

I booked the conservatory for a small family gathering and it was just perfect. Really cosy with strings of twinkly fairy lights, and super warm despite it being January! Thanks to all of the staff who were so hospitable and helpful.

This Castle Rock pub is great. Lots of space and lots of outdoor space some of which is covered for rainy days or shade for sunny days. We went with friends for a Sunday roast. Food took quite a while to come but when it did we totally forgot about that. It was amazing and huge! Good value for money. There were so many different veggies, roast carrots and potatoes, mash, green beans, broccoli, red cabbage and then a huge piece of stuffing, Yorkie and the meat. And one of us had the veggie option which looked good. My husband made the comment that he’d have liked it on a bigger plate but then we decided that we actually liked it all piled up as you kept getting surprises as you went down through it and the food stayed hotter. The beers at this pub are brilliant. They have a huge range of craft beers, real ales and more. We sat in the conservatory to eat then moved outside for a final drink in very slightly cooler air. The staff were friendly.

There is no better pub chip than the embankment pub chip. Whatever alchemy is happening in their kitchen is truly beyond my understanding but I am grateful for it. Nothing is crispier and fluffier than a chip from the embankment. I would name my first born Embankment Pub Chip were I blessed with an offspring. I just finished a bowl of embankment pub chips and i am already tearing up out of grief but also .. gratitude. Thank you embankment. Also very nice staff and lovely pints.

This pub is in a formerr Boots Pharmacy and is an historic building. It has an interesting and varied menu and the staff are very helpful. I have taken my walking group here several times as the Embankment pub is just yards away from the River Trent where some excellent waterside walks can be enjoyed. Kean's Head is highly recommended for both great pints and delicious Sunday roasts, making it a popular choice among locals and visitors alike.
This is a gem. Two of the best things (beer and curry) in one place. The range of beers, cider and whisky is phenomenal, and the curry is divine. The only regret is not having time to spend the afternoon here and work my way through the keg and cask offerings

Moving from LA to Scotland with our two dogs - 1 night stopover in Nottingham, jet lagged and looking for somewhere central with good beer, good food, and dog friendly. The Keans Head knocked it out the park. Easy to make reservation by email - good back and forth with John. Got there around 8pm, lovely warm and welcoming room - smiley faces behind the bar greet us enthusiastically, knew who we were, showed us where the dog treats were and let us try the local pale ale. Our table was ready promptly and we had fabulous Indian food along with another pint. Service was immaculate, food quality excellent and great value for money. If you like beer - go here. If you like Indian food - go here. If you have dogs - go here. If you fit all three of the criteria, you can’t afford to miss this place. Highly recommended.

A fine selection of cask and keg beers, nice welcome from the bar staff. Indian "tapas" for lunch (although a full menu was available). Traditional pub in a very lovely part of the city centre.

If you like beer, whiskey and or curry this is the place to go. Fabulous Indian Style Fusion Food. Vegetarians & even Vegans catered for according to the menu. My vegetarian friends really enjoy the food here. If you're a carnivore you're easily catered for. This combined with a huge range If draught beers (real ales and craft) and a huge range of Belgian and German bottled beers. You can't book a table and it can get busy. However if you are not in a rush a table becomes free in about 30 minutes or so. It's a great venue. Also as a bonus there are about 30+ Whiskies from Scotland and Ireland.

Very, very good pub. Quite a small space. Good music at conversational level. No TVs. Very reasonable prices for such a good and centrally located pub. Lots of beers, largers and spirits (lots of whiskeys) that are not found in "normal" pubs or supermarkets. One of the best onion bhaji I have ever had. Visited Sunday evening, whilest it's a nice pub with a good range of drinks . It was uncomfortable hot, not due to the weather it was a fault with the heating. On mentioned to staff they explained the fault, nothing done. I visited the ladies' toilets, only 1 available. Unfortunately, the sanitary bin was overflowing and positioned inches from the toilet, so with the heat, the smell was toxic in small space. Please see photos

Putting this on here mainly to see if anyone else has experienced this. I have historically enjoyed the cock and hoop (I even stayed in the adjoining hotel before my wedding), but I’ve had two strange experiences recently. The last two times I have been here, I have asked for the daily deal advertised on multiple signs - the first was a pizza and pint deal in March, and the second was their wine Wednesday deal today. On both occasions, I was told that the deal was no longer running, despite the sign being outside (one of which would have had to have been actively put out that day). On the second occasion, I was told the deal had come to an end two weeks ago - in which case, why was the sign out? To further thicken the plot, their Instagram post exactly 2 weeks ago (the day I was told the deal had been cancelled) advertised wine Wednesday, with no indication that the deal was coming to an end. I find this baffling, and really damaging to my opinion of and trust in the pub. If you are not running a deal, that is fine, but you should make sure you are not advertising this deal. It may well be that I was just unlucky, but the repeated incidents makes it feel as if the deals are not real!

With up to 21 beers on tap as well as cans and bottles, the knowledgeable staff are ready to assist with the wide selection. Situated in the city center within an attractive historic building, it's an ideal spot for a refreshing drink while exploring the area.
Popped in on a Tues at 2.30pm. Luckily they serve food whilst loads of other food places in Nottingham were closed. Ordered lamb kofte and burger and chips. Food was served quickly and was delicious. Decor and atmosphere upstairs is very well decorated with posters, large screen tv and plants. I would recommend popping in.

Love this little cafe bar tucked away in an inner courtyard in the Lace Market. Fabulous selection of beers including some Belgian favourites on tap such as Cherry Chouffe and Bruges Zot. Friendly staff and pleasant garden if the weather permits.

Interesting beer selection and cool little place with outdoor as well as indoor seating. Was pretty empty when I went, but I get the feeling it'll get busy closer to the weekend.

Quiet when we went in. Staff member who served us was perfectly indifferent. Food was tasty though. Went next door to the Junkyard and the welcome was just so much better- engaging and enthusiastic about beer!

I've been to Nottingham several times in recent years and have to say, never knew that this place was here, tucked down a side street, which is a real shame as I would make this (like Ye Olde Jerusalem) a go-to place. Never seen so many fruit / lambic / sours on a menu. I don't actually like them but my partner does! Have a really nice vegan burger and fries and a really nice pumpkin stout. Very busy, lots of different groups catered for, tables of young guys playing cards, young families and older beer drinkers like us. Very friendly, smiling staff makes you feel really welcome... Quite keen to take others here....

Pub
Pitcher & Piano Nottingham is a modern chain bar located in a converted church, making it one of the coolest bars in the area. Despite its non-independent status, it's a must-visit for its unique setting and spacious interior, perfect for after-work drinks or weekend pre-drinks with large groups. The Grade II-listed church provides a stunning backdrop for dining and drinking on their outdoor terrace, complete with stained glass windows and exposed brick archways.
We had a fab afternoon bottomless brunch! Jessica was a great host, kept us topped up with drinks throughout the time we were there. We paid a bit extra and we all had the steak, egg & chips and it was really good. We would definitely book again, great value for money!

This was my third time coming here on 28.07.2025 and this time I brought my family who flew in from overseas to the UK. We were all really looking forward to it. We arrived at reception at 6:30pm and waited about 10 minutes but no one came to seat us. In the end, we went up to the bartender and were told we had to find our own table — just like a food court. The table we found was dirty and hadn’t been cleared. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy, but there was only 1-2 waiter serving everyone. It took another 10 to 15 minutes just to place our order for drinks( 2 beer,2 cocktail & 2 coke), 5 starters, and 4 mains course. After waiting 30 minutes, we still didn’t have any drinks. We asked the same waitress who took our order — she went into the kitchen, then came back and told us the kitchen had lost our order and we’d have to order again. She promised us a free drink as an apology, but in the end, we didn’t get anything at all. Meanwhile, people queuing at the bar got their drinks straight away, while we waited nearly 50 minutes for ours — it was really unacceptable. It wasn’t just our table waiting — the nearby customers were all waiting too. Another 15 minutes later, our starters finally arrived, followed by the mains, but they still missed one of our dishes. When we asked the waiter again, he told us to wait, but after another 10 minutes with nothing happening, we just paid and left. We originally planned to order dessert, but we gave up because we didn’t know how much longer we’d have to wait. Honestly, it was a terrible experience. Despite the beautiful setting, the service was unbelievably bad. It completely wasted our precious time and ruined our evening. I’d rather go to Wetherspoons than ever come back here again.

History, Hues, and Hospitality: Sunday Lunch at Pitcher and Piano Nottingham Our Sunday lunch reservation at The Pitcher and Piano in Nottingham was an absolutely memorable experience, thanks primarily to its stunning and unique setting. Housed within the magnificent High Pavement Unitarian Chapel, this Grade II listed building—originally constructed in 1876—is far more than just a restaurant; it’s a living piece of Nottingham history. The architecture alone is worth the visit. It's truly breathtaking to dine beneath the soaring ceilings and surrounded by the retained grandeur of the former chapel. The conversion, which happened in 1998, brilliantly preserved key elements, giving the space an atmosphere that is simultaneously historic and modern. It makes for one of the most visually interesting and vibrant dining environments you could find in the city, perfectly blending its past as a place of worship and a lace museum with its present as a popular social hub. For a fun, tangible souvenir, we took advantage of the on-site photo booth. It’s a great way to remember your visit, costing £5 for four physical prints and including a digital download of your photos, making the unique backdrop part of your memory. Making the online reservation was smooth and efficient, and upon arrival, we were treated to excellent hospitality. Our experience was made particularly wonderful by Jess, who waited on us. Jess was attentive, professional, and added a warm, friendly touch to our meal, ensuring everything was perfectly taken care of. Great service combined with great surroundings elevates a simple lunch into an occasion. Overall, The Pitcher and Piano offers a truly unique destination for food and drinks. If you’re looking for delicious dining in a jaw-dropping location, this venue delivers on both history and quality service. Highly recommended!

A special thank you to Chelcie, who tailor-made the arrangements to suit us perfectly and was incredibly helpful throughout the planning. She made everything run so smoothly and really helped make our celebration unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend Pitcher & Piano for any special occasion!!

Nice food and superb church setting. The ambiance was marvelous! There’s nothing to complain about except sometimes when you order and pay via the QR code, it may not go through. I didn’t encounter any problem but my friend did, so she had to go asking the staff to check if it was alright and ended up ordering and paying the analog way.
Soonyata M — Google review
I had the pleasure of being served by Jess during my recent visit to pitcher and piano, and I just had to take a moment to share how exceptional she was. From the moment we were seated, Jess greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. She was attentive without being overbearing, checking in on us just the right amount to make sure we had everything we needed. you could tell she genuinely cared about making our experience great. Jess’s positive attitude and friendly demeanor truly elevated our brunch experience. It’s clear she takes pride in her work, and I appreciate how she went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable visit. If you’re lucky enough to be seated in her section, you’re in great hands. Highly recommend!

The Castle - Pub and Kitchen is a charming red-brick local located across from Nottingham Castle's gatehouse. It offers a simple British menu, live music, and a cozy atmosphere with leather sofas and wood paneling. The pub provides stunning views of the city's history, as it sits opposite the historic gatehouse constructed between 1252-1255. Additionally, it is designed by Watson Fothergill, an esteemed Victorian architect known for his unique buildings in the area.
visited for Mother’s Day and were happy with the food. The hog roast rarebit was delicious, and the burger was good. Mum said the lamb and mint pie was lovely too! Lovely atmosphere with lots of outdoor seating, perfect for warmer weather.

Decent pub close to the castle with a wide selection of local beers + the usual continental lagers. The menu is modern & a bit predictable but totally fine for this type of boozer. Well worth a visit as far better than most of the other places in the Vicinity & the local beers are well worth trying.

We stopped in here as a 6 at the weekend, half way through a stag bar crawl. The one thing the lads noticed up on arrival was how miserable looking the ladies were at the bar. Before we had hardly said a word to anyone we really didn't feel welcomed and almost as though we were inconveniencing them. The price I was charged for my pint of Deya was also £7.40. when I sat down the price on the wall was £7.00. in Norwich this is a beer that you can find on draft for £6.40 and must have been the most expensive 4% pint of Ale I have ever paid out for. What happened to Nottingham being student friendly? We also didn't like the fact that they seem very proud to support the controversial cashless movement. Needless to say we were very pleased to be moving on and a couple of my lads were soo keen to do soo that they didn't even finish their pints!

We have just had the worst meal out in Nottingham we've had for years! The pub was empty yet the food took ages, when the 6 meals arrived it was a combination of dried out, over cooked and cold food. So disappointed! On the plus side the bar staff were amazing they did all they could to resolve the issue and couldn't apologise enough which was sad that their hard work gets overshadowed by the kitchen failure. We were offered free desserts which we waited nearly an hour for and left as they didn't arrive. The bar and bar staff are fantastic but the kitchen is a complete joke!

We both had the mixed grill I had the normal size with added Mac and cheese my husband had the large mixed grill. Not a meal I usually have as I'm funny about meat being tough, I'm so glad I did all the meat was really nice and tender, the Mac and cheese was lovely (one of my favourites) onion rings were really nice as well. Will definitely eat here again. Really reasonable price as well.

Lillie Langtry's, formerly known as the Peach Tree, pays homage to the famous Victorian socialite and actress Lillie Langtry. The pub underwent a sympathetic makeover in 2018 while retaining its old-world charm and adding more memorabilia related to the starlet. It offers a blend of traditional style with a contemporary touch, making it a popular spot in Nottingham. Guests can enjoy live sports, draught pints, and delicious pies from Pieminister's menu.
Such good vibes, and you literally cannot go wrong with Pie Minster pies! I'd never had a proper Pie Minster meal with all the bells and whistles before, and now I don't think I can ever go back
Eleanor C — Google review
I had chicken & mushroom pie with mash, peas, gravy, and half a Guinness for £17.66p. Pieminister provides the limited lunchtime menu with half a dozen pie options to choose from. The pub atmosphere was great in this cosy city pub. The staff were friendly and accommodating, cutlery and serviettes were bought to the table. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and well presented. The food was tasty and filling with the gravy served separately in a gravy boat. A staff member even passed by to ask if everything is ok. If you're visiting Nottingham and enjoy being amongst local folk this is a great choice. The only slightly negative thing was the pie pastry base was hard and a little chewy. Like the filling had soaked into the pastry then the base dried out a little on a hot surface. Overall, a very enjoyable 20 minutes.

Ordered hummus and flatbread with paprika seasoning and cucumber sticks. Got served ice cold, wet tortillas with hummus with no seasoning and ice cold, wet lettuce. Not expecting miracles. Just what was on the menu. My partner ordered the pie which was dry as anything and gravy which was like water. I am sure it's a grand spot for a pint, but we moved on fairly quickly. Avoid if you want food.

We came in on 24/4/25 as we had a voucher to use. The lady behind the bar was absolutely lovely but the food was very disappointing. I ordered a hunters chicken and it came with no side salad at all. Just chicken and chips with BBQ sauce. My husband had steak which was overcooked and had to be returned.

Probably the worst pub meal I have ever had. Whoever works in the kitchen really does not love what they’re doing and does not want to be there. I ordered a steak meal, it came out unseasoned, was the size of my palm and was accompanied by 18 chips, half of a small tomato, 1 mushroom and half a cup of peas that looked like they had just been tipped out of a freezer bag. Very unappetising and poor value. The best part of the meal was the beer and surely they can’t stuff that up! I couldn’t wait to leave.

I visited this place on recommendation from friends. I was told that the food was really nice. When entering the pub I was pleasantly surprised. It was very welcoming and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was shocked at the amount menu choice, awesome variety and excellent quality for money. I had the steak with Diane sauce, my partner had the mutton lamb and dumplings. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we are going to go back in the not so distant future. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Excellent carvery. Unlike the carvery chains, this one had its own individual " flavour" .....and certainly wasn't mean re neat portions. My request for extra crackling with the Pork was met generously. Service was good fine, just a little slow at the Bar......I easily got over that! All considered I'd give an 8.5 out of 10
Catman D — Google review
An exceptionally clean and inviting tavern with a sizable menu with many different options. The duck wonton appetizers were crispy and served with a sauce that was slightly sweet with just a hint of coriander. The main portions were more than enough for a hungry adult (and then some). The sausages were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside - exactly how they should be. And the staff were extremely friendly. They made us feel not like tourists, but instead like we were part of the local crowd. A definite repeat when we're back in the area.

I had Fish & Chips from the lunch saver menu and 1/2 a pint of Guinness (£13.50p). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room felt quite homely and bright. My lunch arrived promptly and I was asked what condiments I'd like with my lunch. The fish & chips were served with mushy peas & salad. The food was nicely cooked and tasty. The only negative I found was the lack of fish inside the batter. I'd have given this review a 4 star rating but for this.

Amazing food, we were in the area after having a 4d scan across the road and thought we would have give willow tree a go due to the good reviews. Food is phenomenal! Spoke to Mandy the chef who has worked there 17 years, I can see why! All staff were friendly and me and my family were made to feel part of the crowd despite going out late with a toddler in tow. Not many people are so accepting of a 21 month old in a pub during evening time but it wasn't an issue for anyone in this pub. Can't wait to come back again soon :)

The music is too loud, there was no band or singer on so it was just background music it was so loud you had to shout to hear a person next to youi do not have a problem with loud music by when you go to a pub you expect to be able to hold a conversation. Can't say much about this pub as it was a "flying visit" as we were visiting the Royal Concert Hall opposite and just wanted a quick drink before we went in. We didn't stay inside...as it was a nice night we sat outside and watched the world go by while we downed two glasses of Guinness Zero. It was served well.. no complaints.

The Hop Merchant has been an amazing and supportive venue for me over the last few months. Emma, the team provided a real lifeline at the end of last year when I found myself requiring a new venue for events I run. I'm now there four or five days a week and I feel like part of the furniture now. Lovely place.

The Dragon is a unique and quirky pub located in Nottingham, offering homemade food and a room for Scalextric car racing nights. It has gained popularity as one of the city's hidden gems, with a charming beer garden that catches the evening sun and a Racing Room featuring an impressive Scalextric track. The pub is known for its fabulous atmosphere, eclectic tunes, and stylish decor.
Top pub in central Nottingham. Has three levels. Top and friendly staff. There is a cute beer garden at the back which is ace. Seating throughout. At weekends they do dj vinyl nights which we came too. Local.and non local got on really well and it was amazing fun. Nice rolls behind the bar. This well worth checking out for a traditional pub with some nice touches

Good selection of real ales Being hot, I decided upon an ice-cold Heineken Service was good Music being played was good as background, sadly ruined by a member of the bar staff consuming too much Trill & didn't stop when asked if it was him on the Trill

The Dragon is my go to pub in Nottingham. It’s just a boozer, with no food, apart from a few cobs, which I like. Usually someone spinning some vinyl records they’ve brought in to play on their decks. The patio area on a sunny day is the perfect place for a pint and a chat with old friends and you often meet some eclectic characters who are always interesting.

Lovely city centre pub with a large scaletrix set up. You can hire this room out. Unfortunately on my visit the barman didn’t have a key for the room as I did ask if I could have a look! Barman was very friendly though. Four ales on along with the usual selection. Lovely upstairs outside seating area which really makes it in my opinion. Recommended 🍻🏎️

Contender for the best pub in Nottingham. Small, but intimate. One of the few places I can find bottles of Brooklyn Lager. Excellent Guinness. They also sell cobs on the bar for a quick snack.

Alternative venue. Staff are great. Decor could do with updating as outside is particularly shabby. Beer is ok. Interesting Tues scaletrix nights advertised.

The Rose of England is a historic pub with a Neo Gothic Victorian design, originally built in 1899 by architect Watson Fothergill. Over the years, it has undergone several name changes before reverting to its original name. Located in Nottingham, this pub offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.
Saw online it had new ownership so popped in for a couple of drinks whilst I was at the Victoria Centre. Was pleasantly surprised by the place. Got a warm welcome from the manager and all the staff were lovely. Hoping they do food in the future as it’s a great little place just outside the hustle and bustle of the City Centre. Definitely recommend it.

Went in for karaoke on a Saturday which was great! Supportive, eclectic crowd and fun friendly DJ host. Knocked a star off for the surly looking manager. We came in as a group, brought the house down and raised the vibe up, why are they angry about getting customers who partake in the offered activities? We had a weirdo man follow us into there from a different place but didn't feel comfortable asking the manager to help us talk to/eject them so left for somewhere else instead, sadly.

Night club
Rock City is a renowned independent stage that has been showcasing up-and-coming bands since it opened in 1980. Over the years, it has hosted iconic acts like Duran Duran, The Smiths, Guns 'n' Roses, Nirvana, and many more. With two stages and multiple bars, the venue offers a fantastic live music experience. It recently won the Best Major Club award at the Live Music Business Awards 2019.
From American to the UK to follow a tour- this was my last show in Manchester. Not going to lie, it was very crammed and the place seemed to be falling apart and maybe a tid bit haunted BUT I hear tons of iconic artists have played here over the many many years and that made the experience even cooler. It did feel quite intimate which I loved personally. Security was on it too! The queue was well organized and there’s nice hotels to stay within short walking distance. Super freaking insane, I bloody LOVED it!
Megan S — Google review
Great venue with great unobstructed views of the stage. Up close and personal. Friendly staff. Great location in the city with tram stops a short walk away. A premier inn is less than 5 minutes from the venue too which relieves the thought of having to drive home straight after the gig. We saw The Lathums supported by Arkala. Great gig, great venue.
Mick G — Google review
Been to many gigs here and the layout is actually decent for a show. Quite a few big car parks near by, plenty of restaurants and bars for preshow. The view from most places in the venue is good too. Most recent was New Found Glory.
Matthew C — Google review
I’ve never felt so humiliated trying to go on a night out. I bought my ticket online for Rock City, showed up excited, and after showing my ID I was asked who I was with. When I said I came alone, the bouncers told me “no single males are allowed in tonight.” What makes this worse is that I know there are nights when single males are allowed in — and that same night, I saw British men walk in on their own with no issue. For me, as a Romanian, I was turned away. It felt like I was given an excuse, but the real reason was clear: I was treated differently because I am foreign. To pay for a ticket in good faith, only to be refused entry while others are let in, was humiliating and discriminatory. This isn’t just poor customer service — it’s unfair and unacceptable. I left feeling embarrassed, angry, and unwelcome. Nobody should ever be treated like this. The big guy with tattooes and the one near him refused my entry.
Claudiu S — Google review
First ever visit to Rock City the other week for WASP. What a venue! Love the fact that security just scanned everyone in quickly and left people to it, rather than getting all over involved like Showsec do at other venues. Parking so close, perfect! Will definitely be back!
C T — Google review
Good: The staff were great, really helpful in getting a seat side stage and helping me get in. A good view across the stage about 15-20 metres away. Acoustics ok for being side stage. Staff going round during the show to collect rubbish was something I have not seen in other venues. The room was free from the usual dropped plastic cups you see elsewhere. Top marks for that Bad: I needed a disabled parking space and the nearest I could find was a couple streets away. Walking into the venue, there were about 4 lots of stairs to get into the concert room. So not great on crutches. I tried phoning the venue 4 times on the day of the show to ask management about accessibility, no one answered nor returned a call even with 3 messages left. That was a bit rude... Ugly: The place looks like it could benefit from a lick of paint and a refurb. Just seems dated in places. Reminded me of old cinemas when I was a kid in the 90's. Overall: Worth 4 stars for the staff. But if you have a long drive to get there, especially if you have accessibility issues, plan ahead.
Keith P — Google review
Great gig, queue before doors open was long but well organised and stewarded, the line for those who needed special assistance similarly seemed well organised. It went down very quickly when the doors opened as bags had been searched while in the queue by two very polite and courteous security guys. Went as a lone young woman and never felt afraid or unsafe- queue for the bars weren't long even between sets, the toilets were clean (cleaner than when I've been in on nights out!) but as they were busy did run out of loo roll so maybe stash a packet of tissues in your pocket. The gig was great, definitely busy but never felt crushed or overcrowded, and water was passed through the crowd when it began to get hot. The merch counter was also well staffed and everyone was very friendly. I've been on club nights also and definitely one of the best clubs I've been to, great place, even when it's rammed it never feels unsafe- with security and safety team in the bathrooms and checking on anyone who's been in a cubicle for a while. The drinks aren't too badly priced and you generally don't have to wait ages to order/get your drink. Tunes are amazing and one of my favourite places to be!
Alex C — Google review
Band was amazing (Spacey Jane) and the venue space was great. However, on this night the sound of the band was so quiet you could barely make out what he was singing or saying over the band, which was still fairly quiet for a concert. The volume of the support act had been perfect so it’s not a venue issue but me and my friend actually moved closer to the stage to see if it was just where we were (it wasn’t). Very disappointed in this as we spent money to hear the band and didn’t get the full experience.

Poppy & Pint is a spacious and airy pub that offers a cafe, bar, and dining room. It serves draught ales along with breakfast and grill menus. The place is known for its good service and decent beer selection. While some feel it lacks warmth, it's considered suitable for larger groups. We hired the function room upstairs for our wedding party. We cannot fault a thing. The room upstairs is a lovely room which is simply decorated allowing us to add our own decor which complimented the room perfectly. We had ceremony in the room with our guests sat around the tables ( we had already done the legal bit a few days prior). There was plenty of room for all of our guests and more guests in the evening. The staff at the poppy cannot do enough for you. From the moment we went to view the room, to booking and through to the day was seamless. James and Vanessa were incredible, they offered ideas and helped wherever we needed help with anything. We set up the eve before and James was there to make sure all was just right On the day, everything ran like clockwork. The food was incredible, the staff were awesome, the organisation was perfect. We would like to say a huge thank you to James and Vanessa, Liv, Darren and all that were involved. You’re all amazing. Thank you for making our wedding fabulous. . As for the pie and mash and the platters, oh my word, we have had nothing but great feedback, everyone loved the food. 👌🏻. Thanks again, Roy and Rosie😀

A nice, big, pub which was once a British Legion club and it's a nice touch that they have kept lots of the memorabilia. Beer is excellent and food is good, my wife particularly liked the sticky toffee pudding. Food is served in the main bar, if you intend to eat I would recommend booking. We did and it all went without a hitch.

Great atmosphere with good choice of beers. I visited again after 7 years. Beers were world class and the food was 10 out of 10. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I visited on a Monday afternoon and there were plenty of people about. This is a top pub and it's clear to see why this place has fantastic reviews.

The food is okay, nothing special but worth it for the price; it’s just that the service is slow. We waited for so long. The pub was so spacious and has a parking lot, which makes the place better.

I came here for a birthday meal, The evening started well, The staff were friendly and welcoming. Small choice on the specials board, there is a separate menu, but this isn't on the tables and we only found it by chance. Large choice of real ales on tap, few guest ciders, but would be nice to see more. Good portion sizes for the mains, if not too much, there was loads of mashed potato with the braised beef, so much so I couldn't manage it all. Wanting pudding afterwards, we had to again ask if they did puddings and if there was a menu, they do sticky toffee pudding and melt in the middle chocolate cake on there every day menu, then a range of cakes, that are in a separate fridge, but if I hadn't of asked, we wouldn't of known about them. After ordering the desserts, we were told that there was no longer any lemon sponge , when we ordered there were 2 pieces left, so the lady who served us, should have taken those pieces off sale, so that no one else could buy them. Again good sized puddings, but the bowls are covered with syrup for decoration, but it just made a mess and got everywhere. While still eating our puddings and having another round of drinks, we were asked if we were staying for the quiz, as the pub was getting busy and people were looking for tables. So we had 2 courses and 3 rounds of drinks and then felt we were being thrown out, they didn't seem to ask any of the other people dinning , if they were staying as they needed the tables. It's a shame really, as it seemed like such a lovely pub and we would probably have come back, but don't think we will be returning any time soon.

Excellent choice of beers cask and keykeg. Would mark it higher but the toilets are disgusting. I am guessing there isn't a manager in there, just students working behind the bar as I've never seen anyone twice and we have visited at least once a month for the past year. Visited again yesterday and hooray, toilets all refurbished. Will be going more often again now. Thank you.

We had a veterans reunion here. We hired the private room upstairs and booked a buffet. Room was shabby and could do with a good coat of paint. Toilets unclean and needed a good hoovering. We managed to make it presentable by purchasing garden lights. Positives- private bar and our barman - Jamie - fab Negatives - the buffet was awful. Apparently the lady making the buffet went sick at the last moment. The manager did offer us pizzas but our guests preferred the money to go behind the bar. Positives - free bar lasted a lot longer.

This is a nice "traditional" old style pub , with outdoor seating, with parasols over the tables, where you can smoke outside.... Face masks now NOT mandatory , for inside drinking....But, a good choice of wines , beers spirits, inside..... Friendly bar staff,.... And looks like it's a local for the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey fans , as there's ice hockey team shirts in there, and other ice hockey paraphanalia, on the walls. It's right next to the Nottingham Motorpoint Arena where they have music concerts........👍👍 Prices seem ok.....

Nestled within the famous Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, Larwood & Voce is a popular and vibrant bar known for its vintage atmosphere and televised sports. The pub offers a mix of traditional dishes with a modern twist, making it a favorite among locals and sports fans alike. With an upcoming Sunday menu featuring classic roast options infused with Gastro Pub flair, the venue is set to delight visitors with hearty meals.
A group of us came here for our colleagues farewell lunch. We arrived at 12pm even though our table was booked for 12:30 but the table was already ready. Our server Leon was super lovely from the moment we arrived and did all he could to accommodate those of us in the group who didn’t have much time as they had to be back for meetings. That being said we never felt rushed or overwhelmed with the service and Leon did all he could to make sure we were stocked on drinks, orders were taken (even those people we joining sporadically), and that people were aware of how their food may come etc. Leon was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. I had the soup and a large coke which was £10 total, the price was excellent as it’s not often you can get high quality for a decent price. This was my first time and experience at Larwood & Voce but I certainly will be coming back .

Called in on a Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago, very surprised to see the pub so quiet but it was probably due to the cricket international finishing early so those that were at the cricket had already left and those that wanted to avoid somewhere busy had given it a swerve. The result was that we were the only diners so had the run of the place. Served by Leon who was great, very attentive and friendly but didn’t fuss over us too much. It was nice to have someone who had some personality as it must have been difficult with a pretty much empty pub! Food was good but disappointing that there were a few choices missing from the menu.

Pre-ordered breakfast for a party of 6 for 10.30. Had an extra person join at 10.35 so ordered another breakfast and paid for it up front. Chased the breakfast at 11 to be told that breakfast had finished and they could only offer a refund. No apology or real explanation given. I then went and got a sausage cob from around the corner to then be stopped on the way back in and be told that no outside food allowed in. Explained and got bar staff out who repeated the policy despite the context. Asked for manager only to be told by the bar kid it was his dad and I’d get the same response. Customer service course required for Christmas. Terrible experience, I’m a regular customer on Forest match days but not anymore. Worth adding that everything on the breakfasts that were served looked undercooked.

Chaos when busy. Came for lunch at the weekend. Had fish & chips - fish was really lovely but the chips were barely cooked and inedible. I complained to the waiting staff and she shrugged and was unbothered. Waited twenty minutes for the bill and ended up going to the bar to pay. Convenient for Trent Bridge is all it has going for it.

The Royal Children is a historic pub located near Nottingham Castle, with a name that dates back to the late 17th century. According to tradition, it was named after the children of Princess Anne, daughter of King James II, who were said to have stayed at the castle and played with the innkeeper's children. However, there are conflicting historical accounts regarding whether Princess Anne's children were actually alive during her visit.

Nottingham Castle. I was at a loose end and decided to go for a day out. Absolutely fabulous, a lot of interactive exhibits which are ideal for both adults and children. The art galleries are absolutely perfect and the cafe is great too. The shop is perfect for all pocket sizes and the grounds are beautifully looked after. For the adult ticket of £15, it’s free entry for a year so is worth going just for that!

Nottingham Castle played an important role in Britain's history. Apart from being famous for being home to the Sheriff of Nottingham, the castle was a strategic stronghold during England's civil war in the 1600's. Today the castle is museum that houses exhibits of Nottingham's lace manufacturing, studies surrounding the "Major Oak" in Sherwood Forest, and many other interesting displays. Outside the walls is a statue of Robin Hood that is a must see for visitors. Beneath the city is a network of caves that are also present at the castle. Booking a tour of the castle caves provides visitors with much more information about the history and importance Nottingham Castle has played in Britain's history.

Cool castle ramparts encasing a grand mansion steeped in history. Highly recommend booking a cave tour to explore the tunnels within the castle rock. The guides are hugely knowledgeable and give you a fun, educational, story-filled experience.
Leah M — Google review
Nottingham Castle looks impressive and full of history, even from the outside. The grand architecture and its position overlooking the city make it a striking landmark. The grounds and surrounding area are beautifully kept and offer great photo opportunities. A must-see spot that captures the heritage and charm of Nottingham!

Nottingham Castle is a great mix of history, legend, and modern storytelling. The museum inside offers well-presented exhibits about Robin Hood, local art, and the city’s past. The castle grounds are beautifully maintained with lovely views over Nottingham. While the original medieval castle no longer stands, the experience is still engaging and family-friendly — worth a visit if you’re exploring the city’s heritage.
David G — Google review
We had a lovely afternoon here. Kids loved the art museum. And so much history. We are most definitely going again. As we still did not managed to explore all the grounds.
Erica — Google review
Great place to visit in Nottingham! The castle has loads of history, the museum is well set out, and the views over the city are amazing. The best part though is the jack’s cave tour – exploring the tunnels under the castle is such a unique experience. Highly recommend booking the tour when you go!
Manula J — Google review
Personally, we thought £15 entry for adults (£30 for us both) was expensive for a one-off visit if you wanted a tour of the caves that was an extra £8 per adult (we did not go on that). Yes, the entry ticket lasts a year and you can go as many times as you want which is good if you live close by, It's nice that children are free to enter, nice grounds with views over Nottingham, it's not really a Castle more like a mansion building which houses an art gallery / museum in the main building, the Robin Hood experience is more for kids with lots of interactive things to do, we enjoyed the Rebellion part of the exhibition and all about the history of Nottinghams troubled past, Wasn't really impressed with the echos of the Forest exhibition lots of tree photos and a video of some ladies dressed on cloaks hiding in trees, it may be I would prefer to walk in a natural woodland or forest and listen to the natural sound of nature, personally we would not return as we have seen it

We were using a 3 course gift experience set menu. Becca our server gave us chance to look at the menu before approaching us to take our order. The food came out evenly spaced and cleared our table after each course. Food was amazing and cocktails were tasty.

First time at this pub/restaurant. We had the lunchtime special £8 for a soft drink and food and an extra £2 for a beer. The food was very nice for the price and the service was good too. Very good for a simple lunch.

Busy, lively establishment. 2 for 1 cocktails seemed really good, I already had a few alcoholic drinks before visiting this place so only went for a mocktail. Good value for money and the design of the place looks really good.

Excellent service by Jamaica for my friends 40th birthday bottomless brunch. We added an extra person on when we got there and it wasn’t a problem at all. We was never waiting long for our drinks, the food was lovely and all the staff were friendly, professional and couldn’t do enough for us. The birthday girl definitely enjoyed herself. Thank you very much guys!

We had an absolute blast the servers were amazing. Food was delivered in a very timely manner after we ordered and they were very helpful checking in when we needed drinks and top up. Chloe and Abbie were our servers they were fantastic honestly lovely people that really cared about having an enjoyable time while doing other jobs. All the staff were also amazing but we got those too the most and we'd really recommend coming here for an impromptu bottomless brunch. We've really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come here again.

The Joseph Else - JD Wetherspoon is a large, contemporary pub named after a local sculptor. It offers affordable comfort food and authentic ale. The establishment is rich in history, with the famous lion sculptures guarding the entrance to the Council House located in front of it. Joseph Else, for whom the pub is named, created a frieze depicting Nottingham's former industries. This establishment boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal or a night out. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes, catering to various tastes and preferences. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The comfortable seating and ambient lighting create a relaxed setting. It's a great place to enjoy good food and good company.

Unfortunately this is not the best wetherspoon I visited in Nottingham. Lot of empty glasses and dity plates were still left in the tables, so I needed to put it aside and it was taked couple of minutes for the staff to take it aside. The toilet was gross, never ever go to their toilet again. But the service was fast and food was typical wetherspoon. Need lot of things to improve for this place.

Cheap drinks and right in the heart of town. Fun atmosphere with people from all walks of life. Meal deals looked good too.

Met up with a group, we all order breakfast. Food started arriving and unfortunately eggs and bacon were cold, eggs were over cooked. Person from the group asked for a fresh breakfast as her breakfast was cold too. I just didn't eat the cold items. Tried to ask the lady who was serving us but unfortunately she was very busy as the only person upstairs serving breakfast plates to the entire floor. I don't think I will be coming back. Oh and you have to walk all the way down stairs to get to the coffee and tea machines, personally I have a back and hip problem so it wasn't very nice to have to keep going up and down stairs. Need more staff and floor plan should be looked at IE coffee and tea station is a need upstairs.

This is a large, pleasantly decorated and very centrally situated pub. I found the service in Nottingham generally very good and this is no exception: the staff were welcoming and very efficient. The price of food and drink is, as usual unbeatable: by far the cheapest of anything comparable in the city centre. I noticed that they had a booklet (presumably common to all Wetherspoons) with helpful descriptions of the wines on offer: I really like this because it demonstrates a real commitment to providing good quality wines to working people. TOP TIP: as with all Wetherspoons, some of the clientele can become quite ‘boisterous’ (aided by the best value booze for miles). TOP TIP: you therefore need to choose the best times to visit: my preference is for early afternoon or evening at weekends and at any time from Monday to Thursdays. Recommended.

Yet another brilliant Spoons. Easy ordering on the app, very quick service of food and drinks and great prices. Great for breakfast!

It is a very good wetherspoons, I like to go upstairs and get a window seat overlooking the city Square. The food is nice for what you pay for it. The drinks are cheap and they have a good selection of real ales. It gets quite lively on a weekend and a good atmosphere.

Tapas bar
Bar Iberico is a stylish and modern restaurant located on Carlton Street in Nottingham. It embraces the Spanish concept of sharing, offering a wide range of classic and vegan Spanish tapas, flatbreads, breakfast options, and cocktails. The rustic-chic tavern provides an opportunity to savor the best of Spanish cuisine with well-judged croquetas, fine jamon, inside out chicken wings with yuzu and sweet chili, and other delectable dishes.
Great value lunch menu! Loved the tapas-style setup — perfect for sharing and trying different dishes. Everything we had was flavorful, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Had a large group of 8 people. Ordered one of every tapas option and 3 of the 4 flatbread options as well. So a great variety of their menu. I can recommend every option from the crispy kale and fennel vegetable options to the varied protein options as well. Great drought and cocktails and all the staff we interacted with were top notch!

Delightful tapas experience in Nottingham. The menu was inventive without being pretentious. Nice touch to be able to get a non-alcoholic beer from the tap.

So... that was yummy. Me and my daughter went there and we were recieved by very friendly young people. I asked for the tomato and rocket flabread ( it was enough for 2 people) and it was fresh and tasty. We then tried the mussels and squid As the 2 foodie that we are we took our time to eat it was so uniquely tasty ( try it seriously!)At the end a crema catalena and a custard tarte ( both delicious just , as a Portuguese, didn't appreciate the lemony taste in custard tarte). Good expresso.☕️☕️ So satisfied with this experience 💓.

Really, really good service from everyone who looked after us and served us right from the start. The food was also incredible. I was looking forward to trying everything we ordered but it was honestly exceptional - beautifully presented, incredible flavour combinations, nicely proportioned. Churros and salmon with orange were both incredible. The padron peppers were maybe the best we've ever had. I'd say it was really good value for the quality as well. Would love to pop in again in the future.

We didn't have a reservation and we only waited for about 15 minutes for a large table on a busy Sunday evening. The tapas menu was vast from small olive selection to large topped flatbeeads. Delicious! We especially enjoyed the crispy cauliflower and the catalan tomato bread.

♿ I had dinner today at Bar Iberico, a cozy Spanish restaurant in Nottingham. The atmosphere is warm and lively, with modern décor and friendly service. The menu offers a great variety of dishes, including tapas, paella, seafood, and meat options. I tried several tapas dishes — the portions were small but perfect for sharing, and everything tasted delicious. They also serve a good range of drinks, from juices to refreshing mocktails. From an accessibility point of view, the restaurant is fairly wheelchair-friendly, though there’s a small challenge at the entrance. There is a step about 20 cm high, and you’ll need to ask the staff for a portable ramp to get inside. The staff were very kind and immediately helped set it up. Once inside, the space is open and easy to move around, and the tables are accessible for wheelchair users. The restaurant also has a disabled-access toilet and a baby changing station, both clean and easy to reach. ♿ Accessibility Checklist – Bar Iberico Nottingham ⚠️ Step at entrance (around 20 cm) ✅ Portable ramp available upon request ✅ Wheelchair access to dining tables ✅ Accessible toilet available ✅ Baby changing station available ✅ Friendly and helpful staff ✅ Spacious indoor layout 💬 Note: Bar Iberico is a lovely spot for lunch with great Spanish food and excellent service. Although the entrance requires a ramp, the helpful staff make the experience smooth and comfortable for wheelchair users. #WheelchairAccessible #AccessibleNottingham #InclusiveDining #AccessibleByWalkandSee

Would thoroughly recommend this establishment, the staff are on point and are very aware of the various table arrangements. We sat up at the and it was an unexpected delight, you had a view of the staff snd their jobs and felt intimate but in amongst a busy restaurant. The food and wine was just delicious. We are a pescatarian and meat eating couple, the dishes on either side of the culinary fence were great. Really enjoyed the pickles. Comparing the cauliflower and chicken dishes were interestingly similar. Overall a great night, we will be back again. Thanks to the staff.

Had a brilliant afternoon on the beer tasting experience, brought for us as a gift. We found the whole thing informative and fun. My wife and I had such a brilliant time on the Brewery Experience Day at Brewhouse & Kitchen Nottingham. Ross was our brewer and he was fantastic – super knowledgeable, easy to chat to, and made the whole process really fun and engaging. We got hands-on making an American Pale Ale, with Ross guiding us through each step. On top of that, we had a tasty breakfast and lunch, and plenty of beer to enjoy along the way – what more could you want? Honestly, it’s great value for money and such a unique day out. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves beer or just fancies trying something a bit different. Big thanks to Ross, we’ll hopefully pop back in the next couple of weeks to try the APA! 🍻

Once of my favourite places to hide away during the day and get some work done. Sarah looked after me today and it was great to see her being so interested in her customers including someone reading his book and a couple from South Africa who were intrigued by the bar. Thanks for your service!

Had a brilliant visit to this pub recently and it’s quickly become one of my favourites. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a great mix of locals and visitors. The food was hearty and well-cooked, and the drinks selection was spot on. A special mention has to go to Sarah, who really made the experience stand out. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. It’s rare to meet someone who strikes the perfect balance between being professional and personable, but Sarah did exactly that. She made sure everything was just right and added such a positive energy to the evening. Would definitely recommend a visit here – and if you’re lucky enough to be served by Sarah, you’ll be in excellent hands!

“Perfect for remote work, great food, and the friendliest staff—especially Sarah!” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Great spot for work & winding down” Lovely ambience, fast WiFi, and plenty of space make this a brilliant spot for remote workers like me. The food is tasty (the Beer-Can Chicken is a must-try!) and the drinks menu is excellent. What really makes it stand out is the friendly service—everyone’s welcoming, and a special shout-out to Sarah, who always goes above and beyond. Perfect mix of productivity and relaxation—I’ll definitely be back!

Went here to celebrate my birthday and had an absolutely brilliant time! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming – a perfect mix of lively but still relaxed enough to enjoy a good meal and conversation. I had the rib eye steak and it was cooked to perfection – juicy, full of flavour, and exactly how I asked. For dessert, the cheesecake was a winner – creamy, rich, and the perfect end to the meal. What really stood out, though, was the service. Adam and Jack, two of the younger members of the team, were outstanding – friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely looked after. Nothing was too much trouble, and they helped make the night feel that bit more special. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks for a great birthday evening!

The people working at the bar need to be woken up, as it feels like they’re sleeping there instead of working. The food was served quickly, but the dishes from the previous guests were not cleared. The beer glass was dirty. Very nice place, but very poor service (not for the first time).

The Hockley Arts Club is a multi-level cocktail bar with various unique spaces, each offering its own distinct ambiance. The ground floor, known as Stockholm, features Scandinavian-inspired decor with deep leather sofas and warm carpets. On the top floor, the Electric Garden offers an exotic conservatory-style setting for enjoying gin and prosecco. In between these spaces lies the Blue Rooms, where intimate tables and private booths provide full table service.
We visited here as part of Nottingham Cocktail Week and it was one of our favourites so my partner decided she'd like to visit again for some birthday cocktails Great service and great drinks, it's a little pricey but no more than any other good cocktail bar and I feel like you're getting what you pay for so it's still good value
Jack G — Google review
Nice atmosphere and good vibes overall. The drinks on the menu were quite meh, personally not a fan of “non-classics” that are overly fruity or juicy. Luckily our bartender was “Cas” who guided our cocktail journey and made us some classics and some special “off menu” items. Recommend asking for a 1910 if you are served by him.
Marton S — Google review
The service was really good and attentive. I had a twister cocktail which tasted exactly like the ice cream lolly. It was incredible. I then followed up with a espresso martini. Again, this was great. It was table service. They are a little pricey but for the ambience, service and cocktails, it's worth it for sure. Very tasty and enjoyable.

Great little find in Hockley! Amazing cocktails, the gentleman was impeccable! Would recommend for those who like a cocktail with a difference!
Lynette O — Google review
Such a great place for delicious drinks! You can choose between three floors which have different vibes (Stockholm is more for dancing, The Blue Rooms is great to chill and chat in a very cosy, warm atmosphere, and The Electric Gardens is perfect to chat and hang out in a nature oriented decor). The cocktails are slightly different between all three venues (although a couple of drinks are available on all three menus). The staff is super friendly. My personal favourite is the Blue Rooms. The cocktails are honestly amazing and well worth the slightly higher prices. Even when a drink isn’t quite what one would go for, they still taste great, perfectly balanced and full of flavour! Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a chilled vibe and delicious drinks.
Marjolaine L — Google review
Used to be a really good bar. Now serves cocktails from pre made mixes, then the staff shake them like they are making a cocktail from scratch. Price is like they are making them properly. Really disappointing! Used to be a hidden gem in Notts! Now shocking tbh
Tom P — Google review
The vibe felt off as soon as we walked in. Two members of staff looked directly at us while we waited to be seated, but carried on chatting to their colleagues rather than acknowledging us. Eventually, we were seated at the bar, where the barman asked if we’d been given menus (we hadn’t). He then asked a blonde staff member - Alice, I think—to bring us some. She rolled her eyes and did so reluctantly, which we later realised was because her shift was ending. Regardless, that’s not a professional look in front of customers. When my partner placed the menu on the bar, the barman asked us to remove it in a passive-aggressive way. It wasn’t clear why he couldn’t have just moved it himself, but the way he said it came across as unnecessarily rude and uncomfortable. The drinks were fine, but overpriced and nothing memorable. The real issue came later: my husband left early, and as he was walking out, a staff member actually chased him down and demanded payment. He tried to explain that I was settling the bill, but was treated as though he was lying and pressured to pay on the spot. He messaged me afterwards to let me know, which meant I didn’t need to pay again but by that point, the damage was done. I left feeling humiliated and unwelcome. The atmosphere was neither friendly nor inclusive, and unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Our first time here… wow! The food was delicious, tasty and filling! We ordered more of the sticky chicken! Mowgli is just unreal !! We went to the one in Leicester a few years ago and it’s just as good, infact better, than we remember😍 Indian Street Food.. there is SO much to choose from !! As the dishes are small plates, they recommend having 2-3 dishes each🤌🏼 We enjoyed the Gunpowder chicken (chefs kiss 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨), Mowgli Sticky Chicken & the Mowgli House Lamb, all with Basmati Rice.. delicious !! Oh & the Yoghurt Chat Bombs.. gorgeousssss😍 Honestly could not recommend enough.. we will definitely be back as we want to try even more of the dishes🤤 @jjjourneys__ on Insta ✨

Enjoyable Indian small-plates style restaurant. I had the butter chicken and the new black daal with a portion of roti. The black daal was really tasty, and quite a substantial portion for a "small plate". The butter chicken was pretty traditional, maybe not as rich as I'd expected, but a very solid effort. The rotis were served in pairs, and were small, a little larger than a CD, with an enjoyable chew that reminded me more of a thick paratha. I left satisfied, and felt the meal was overall pretty good value.

Personally, I will not recommend this place if you are looking for good Indian food. It was my wife's birthday and we decided to go to Mowgli Nottingham but it was a complete waste of money. Every single order was tasteless. We ordered kids' gunpowder chicken it was very chewy and overcooked ( almost burnt), the roti was overcooked and it was crispy like popodum, Puri was over-fried. The House lamb dish was tasteless, and there were hardly any lamb pieces, it was just like a lamb paste. The sticky chicken was a bit better but still quite chewy.
Khurrum — Google review
We have visited other branches of Mowgli and found this one a little less enjoyable. I think the team were under a lot of pressure , it was also a very hot day so maybe there was not enough staff to cope with the amount of people about on this particular Friday evening. Unfortunately one of the waitresses fainted whilst taking our order, again I think the heat was too much for her. My husband helped to get her up along with another member of staff and I had a fan with me which we offered to her, she carried on working but we noticed she had a couple more moments where she was not well, again maybe the circumstances of the day. We couldn’t fault the quality and flavours of the food , we had the sharing meal for £25 per person, the only thing we can’t get our heads round is that the Yogurt Chat Bombs were brought to the table and there was five of them, why was there not six? Five is hardly an equal sharing amount!! Overall it was an ok meal out

My wife and I had the sharer meal. 25 pounds each. It's good value, three curries two meat one vegetarian, roti bread, Indian style potatoes and yoghurt (lassi) filled starters. With Ice cream for pudding. My wife also had a Mango soda. It was lovely except the starter but wife liked it. The Ice cream looked handmade and crafted well. The chickpeas were very filling.

Penny Lane is a family-friendly bar that offers vintage arcade games, pub grub, and creative cocktails. It's the perfect spot for anyone looking to relive their childhood memories while enjoying a cocktail. The venue features classic arcade games like pinball machines and end-of-the-pier games, creating a nostalgic fairground atmosphere.
We visited Penny Lane in Nottingham around 5 pm on a Saturday evening and had an amazing time. The place was busy but had a fantastic atmosphere with a really nice, lively vibe. There was a great mix of groups, couples, and even some families with children. Thanks to the venue’s large size, it never felt cramped, and there were plenty of comfortable spaces where you could sit down for a meal, relax with drinks, or enjoy the big games section. One of the highlights was the arcade and funfair games area. Tokens were about £1 each, and most of the games only required one token to play, making it really easy and affordable to have a lot of fun. Buying tokens was quick and simple with contactless payment directly at the machine. They also had the classic horse racing game where you roll balls into holes to race the horses, which not many funfairs still have these days, so it was brilliant to see. If you win three times you get a cuddly toy, and if you win once you receive a little medal, which added so much fun and excitement to the experience. They also had the classic 2p arcade machines where you could put some change in and play the traditional seaside-style games. The cocktails were brilliant at two for £11.95 with a great range to choose from. The ones we had were really well made and tasted amazing. The service at the bar was excellent, and I wish I had caught the barman’s name because he was brilliant and made the experience even better. The location is really convenient, right in the town centre, and there is a large car park next to it in the Lace Market which made parking really easy and stress free. Security on the door also added to the welcoming and safe environment, making it a place where you can properly relax and enjoy yourself. Penny Lane offers something truly different compared to the usual Nottingham bar scene. Great drinks, a great vibe, and a fun and unique experience all in one place. We will definitely be back!

Tried plenty of the games, all of which made the afternoon a fun and retro day out. Decent amount of seating, table service available. Great staff, very friendly.

Penny Lane is a great stop for some cocktails and a few games. It does get very busy at peak times, and is noisy with loud music, the games and people playing. There’s a good choice of drinks, food and desserts, though the cocktails are a little overpriced and underwhelming. However, the little added extras of souvenirs on the drinks is a nice fun touch. The venue is well decorated with a good choice of games. Since adding more games is does seem cramped and when busy, but it is a great place for a weekday fun date.

One of the cheaper arcades in nottingham and good vibes all around. The cocktails are nice and the staff are super friendly. This place is decorated well and super convenient to get to, it's literally right by the lace market tram stop. Prices for cocktails aren't too bad either. It costs about £1.50 for a token and you can use it on a range of games so not too bad of a price. You can use card to buy these tokens as well, you'll only really need cash for the 2p machines. Some of the machines will just eat your tokens tho so beware.

Nice choice of games to play, we found a lot of the time we would put tokens in and some Games weren’t working which was annoying. The drinks are average prices with an average choice of drinks. Has a slot machine in here which is good fun as well as all the retro games. Good atmosphere and the staff were nice.

Amazing place. Busy, but happy to wait. Great drinks/prices. You buy token to use arcade machines, so much fun for all.

This place is awesome if you want to play some games! Just a heads-up, it can get a little competitive. There's also some food available.

Faradays Nottingham, located in the vibrant Hockley neighborhood, is a stylish pub offering a variety of beers and craft ales. The menu features dishes like grilled mushroom tacos, spicy chicken pizza, and bacon and cheese burgers. Additionally, they offer a budget-friendly pizza and drink deal. The venue is known for its bottomless brunch with generous portion sizes and quick service.
We had a good evening out at Faraday's. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. They resolved any issues we had promptly. Joey was especially hard working. The food was tasty and great value with the January offer. The Bombay burger and Italian job burger are absolutely delicious. We would recommend!! Good place to go, especially if you want to watch a football match.

My wife and I visited lunchtime on Wednesday and had the special 7 pound meal. I had a burger and coke, my wife had a Donner and chips. The burger and chips was fairly standard but tasted very nice and was worth 7 pounds. My wife had the kebab for 7 pounds on flatbread it was large on flatbread and a massive portion of fries. She loved the meal. Service was fairly quick but restaurant was not busy

Lunch yesterday. 2 buddha Bowls very disappointing and definitely not good value @ £35.00 with 2 drinks. Service was pretty good and atmosphere wasn't unpleasing but the food was not up to any standard. To be fair what other people were eating looked appetising, burgers and pizzas but ours was 50-60% boiled rice with a little salsa on the side and a very small serving of dressing,

Anaya was our waitress! She was fantastic. Were a party of 6 and she kept those drinks coming! Never had a bottomless where I didn’t find the bottom! She was so attentive, got us our food and asked us constantly if we needed another drink. I left so drunk I couldn’t find the door. She is an angel!! Get this girl a managers wage ASAP!!!

This review is for the very poor communication and complete lack of empathy for my query. The reason I contacted them was for my daughter, as she has severe dairy and egg allergies. I actually found them through the Allergy Companions website. I sent them an email explaining the situation and to be fair, I got a swift response from the manager, Laura. I'm afraid to say, it was the usual "check the menu" response, which I seem to get from most of the bigger chains (except Hickory's, who are fantastic every time we go). Very poor. Anyway, rather than send another email, I decided to speak to Laura the next day, just to give her a chance to explain. When I called Faraday's, Laura was on a day off and I spoke to a girl called "Ellie". I explained the situation and the response I'd had from Laura and to be perfectly honest, she didn't have a clue about allergies/food contamination, etc. I then asked to speak to someone in charge and she said it was her! So you have someone in charge, that has no idea about something that could potentially kill someone. It absolutely blew my mind. So, next step was to find out who actually owned/ran this pub. It was the Stonegate group. I found the head office number and called it. I instantly got a recorded message saying that I couldn't speak to anyone. Please bear in mind this was a weekday, during the day. I duly left a message explaining everything and also all my contact details. That was 2 weeks and I have yet to receive any kind of response. I could've emailed, but anyone can hide behind those, I actually wanted to speak to someone, which I should be able to, with something as serious as this, or at least someone getting back to me. I'm not holding my breath though.

Junkyard Bottle Shop & Pour House is a hidden gem located on Bridlesmith Walk in Nottingham, offering an impressive selection of craft beers from various breweries. The laid-back taproom and shop provide a casual atmosphere to enjoy the wide-ranging craft beers on tap.
Really cool place, great selection of, mainly Belgian, beers, lambics and ciders. Delicious food menu, the handheld section is especially good value for money. Lots of seating, outside, inside and upstairs.

Love Junkyard, being a regular spot we visit for beer. Visited 3rd Jan and decided to have some food there for the first time. Big mistake! We ordered a few small plates, but they forgot the chicken wings. We said we still wanted the wings so they cooked them and brought them out. They must have rushed them, as they were still raw in places! I know meat on the bone can be pink the closer to the bone it is, but there were bloody in places! Thankfully we noticed, spat out the first mouthful and left them. They didn’t smell good either!

Terrific, hidden gem of a craft beer bar. Carefully curated tap selection and a vast array of options in cans and bottles. Interior is tastefully minimalist. Friendly staff as well!

Easily one of the best places to drink in Nottingham city centre. Always a great range of beers on tap (at least 15) plus very well stocked fridges with some great beers from smaller breweries across Europe and beyond. Very friendly service from all staff who know their beers and happy to offer advice and a small taste before you order. Food is great and goes well with the drinks. Outside seating areas (front and rear) for warmer weather and a great atmosphere inside. Definitely worth visiting!

Update: stopped for a quick bite and a beer. We had 3 starters, the lamb kofta, artichoke and halloumi. All were delicious and what trio of food, I recommend trying all three together. I have upped the star rating to 5 now, as the food was delicious and the staff were great. Previous review: Nice spot. We had lovely vegetarian food, and there was a nice looking meaty options to. Always a great selection of beers, so plan plenty of time to try them all. I would definetely come back here.

Was recommended this place by a friend. A great shout. Great atmosphere tucked away in a little nook. Its through a small alley so you might have to pay close attention when finding it. Note for cider drinkers: They sell some in cans, but they have no cider options on tap, HOWEVER they do have fruity sours on tap which I'd say are even better. If you're a cider drinker like me and haven't tried a fruity sour before, go on, get one ere, I bet youll like it. Phwoar

With a rotating selection of craft beers and classic cocktails, it's perfect for those looking to explore unique flavors. The tavern resides within Nottingham's oldest hotel, formerly known as The George, blending traditional Georgian decor with modern touches.
Me and my partner come in here often for drinks , today we have came in and had such a brilliant server I felt as thought I had to write a review , I believe his name was Joey, not sure if he’s one of the owners. He has been so attentive to any minor queries we have had and has been so personal and friendly. Top notch customer service compared to any I have seen in Nottingham! He has made our night in his friendliness and personalisation! He deserves as much credit as possible.

Only a brief visit, but I shall return! My most amazing friend & I stopped in for a quick drink & discovered a little side-room with a comfy sofa at the far end. So we happily retired there & began our problem solving & day drinking. Which was probably beneficial to the other customers, as they didn't have to wonder what they were witnessing. Visited Saturday 15th July 2023 late afternoon. Been meaning to visit for a while, just never got around to it. Location is ideal if you're around the train station as it's literally across the road. Castle Rocks tap house so obviously has a full range of CR beers; however, as with all CR pubs there's also a great range of guest cask and keg beers alongside a fridge full of craft beer cans and bottles, obviously there's also lager, wine, spirits, soft drinks etc. We ended up eating the loaded fries while we were there, a portion of buffalo and a portion of hamburger, both of which were delicious and reasonable value. Staff were friendly and approachable, the place had a nice atmosphere. The pub itself is a proper old school pub, hard floors throughout and traditional decor with seating out front and a large yard out back. Definitely worth a visit.

Great pub with great selection of beers and great staff. Food is pretty good, crisp selection is wide, and the outdoor seating is lovely in the sunshine too. Great boozer not too far from Nottingham Train Station, great as a place to stop while waiting for that train home.

Return visit, October 2022: Still the good real ale pub that I first visited in the mid 2010s. Castle Rock beers from the well (the brewery is right next door), and at moderate prices. How much you'll gravitate towards Castle Rock's ales is another question, but there's always a wide variety available and they are all certainly the freshest here that they can be. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. I don't remember the covered outside seating from my previous visits, and it's certainly nice to relax out there on a mild autumn evening. Certainly a nicer place to hang out than the sparsely decorated, "colder" BeerhHeadZ right AT Nottingham Station, also far less expensive.

Superb Castle Rock Brewery pub in Nottingham City. 5' minutes walk from main railway station. As an 'away' football fan, have only visited when my team are playing against Forest at The City Ground. Always welcomed by home fans; no rivalry or aggression. Absolutely stunning, superb selection of both Castle Rock & guest beers. + lagers & a good whisky selection! Only sampled food on football matchdays, but if this is an example of normal fayre, then can highly recommend it. Nothing fancy or ponsy! Just basic meals, toasties, chip butties, sausage butties, beef or veggie chilly for example. Staff extremely busy on matchdays so PLEASE be patient with them! They all do a fantastic job. Castle Rock Brewery attached to pub & Brewery tours can be booked. A fantastic pub

Nestled in the charming village of Sawley, The White Lion is a delightful local pub that perfectly blends a warm atmosphere with an impressive selection of beverages. As the brewery tap for Old Sawley Brewing Company, it boasts a constant supply of their signature Little Jack Pale Ale and the award-winning Plummeth the Hour. This family-run establishment, which dates back to 1752, features rustic wooden beams adorned with hops and welcomes both patrons and their furry friends alike.
I visited The White Lion whilst on a walk on Mother’s Day. We did intend to only have a drink and move on, however it turned out to be a beautifully sunny day so we sat outside in the beer garden. We were so comfy that we decided to order some food. I was initially turned down as it was Mothers Day & we hadn’t pre-booked a table. Fair enough I thought and went back outside to finish my drink. What happened next made my day. Max turned up at our table with a menu and explained that we may be able to order some food. We just ordered 2 starters which were very tasty. This act of hospitality kindness meant the world to me. Max had overheard me trying to order food at the bar and went above & beyond to accommodate us. This kind of service is rarely witnessed these days and it was lovely to see. Max made a beautiful day into something very special. Thank you so much!

Visited this place whilst in the area and did not know what to expect. On entering the pub, it displayed the Cask Marque which for me tells me this place knows how to keep it's beer. An excellent choice of 4 ales were on offer. 2 of which were local. A large menu of home cooked food was available with a number of specials. The food came in large portions so you definitely won't leave this place hungry yet the quality was high. A children's menu was also available which included an ice cream. Home made chips are worth a mention. All more than fairly priced. The interior was classic pub and this was complimented by a large beer garden with roaming chickens. Plenty of parking available too. The staff were very friendly, making us feel welcome which added to an overall great Saturday lunch.

I was upset and distressed with the way I was treated on Wednesday 2/04/25, because I found a hair in my food! I took a mouthful of food, and could feel a hair in my mouth, my daughter saw me pull out the hair and I placed it on a napkin. We looked at it and realised straight away it wasn’t one of ours! I then took the hair on the napkin to the bar to show the barmaid, whose name I believe was Courtney. She looked at it, took it from me and walked off, rudely without saying a word to me! No apology! She didn’t come back to me and so I sat down and as I was starving, and I hadn’t been offered a replacement meal, I carried on eating. The next thing, the cook came out and said abruptly to me, across the pub in front of other customers, “Sorry about the hair in your food, but it wasn’t mine!” I looked at him in disbelief, and said, “Well it’s certainly not ours.” He then said, again very abruptly, “I’m not arguing about whose hair it is, it’s not mine! You’ll get a refund for your meal.” The only one arguing was him! The humiliation and embarrassment I felt was quite upsetting! It was like I was the perpetrator and not the victim! He went back into the kitchen, and I sat in disbelief at how he had clearly attacked me! It ruined my evening! Before we left, I waited for the barmaid to approach me regarding the refund. However, she made no attempt to approach me, nor did she go back behind the bar. She clearly did not want me to have a refund; she had made that very obvious. So I went up to the bar, where the really nice and friendly young man, who had spoken to us earlier, was standing, and I spoke to him saying that I had been told I was receiving a refund for my meal as I had a hair in my food. He said that he believed it was Courtney dealing with it. She had obviously been hovering to see what I’d do, as she suddenly appeared behind me and said, “What is it?” I said I need a refund for my meal. Again without saying a word, she went to the till and started to process the refund. She then added, “It wasn’t the cook’s hair.” I said well it wasn’t ours and that someone else must work in the kitchen. She said only the cook, and then added, last minute, that the pot washer also works in there. I said well it must be the pot washer’s, as it wasn’t one of our hairs. She was so rude and abrupt, looking at me as if I had done something wrong! I asked her if she would like to find a hair in her meal? She answered, again very abruptly, “No, but you didn’t have to eat it, we would have replaced it!” What! So why didn’t say this to me when she walked away with the hair on a napkin? She never spoke a word to me, and she didn’t come back to me about it either, so to say they would have replaced it was not communicated to me at all! I didn’t even know where she had taken the hair until the cook came out into the pub to loudly tell me it wasn’t one of his hairs! Can you believe this? I can’t! I’m still in disbelief! Not about the hair, as these things happen, but the way I was treated was unforgivable! I was humiliated, victimised and made to feel embarrassed in front of other customers who were watching and listening. I do believe that both the cook and the barmaid, thought it was my hair, and that the way they behaved showed that they thought it was my hair! I was made to feel like it was my hair and that I had put it there to get a refund! Come on! I only had a lighter meal for ‘smaller appetites and kids’, which didn’t cost much, and we did like going there as only a 10-minute walk from my house. I will never return to that pub again and did not deserve to be treated like that! I had paid to eat there and because I found a hair in my food, and took it to the barmaid to show her, I was made to feel like I had committed a crime! I’m still feeling upset by it! We cannot live in a society where we are told to “put up and shut up!” which is exactly how the staff at the White Lion operate! I would like the tenant of this Greene King-owned pub to contact me regarding this.
Michelle D — Google review

Seem to be less and less old fashioned pubs around so it was nice to stumble across the White Lion. The pub has a nice quaint and cosy bar/dining area and the service is very pleasant. The carpet looks a little dated, but adds to the charm a bit. Good range of drinks available with several beers on draught. I ordered a bowl of chips which were more like potato wedges, but still very nice. Other meals are available and all seem very affordable. I sat in the beer garden which is in a nice setting.

I’ve not seen so many staff in a station for a long time. The staff member I spoke to was very helpful. All platforms are served by lifts and you don’t have to walk far on entering station to platforms or if you have to change trains. The ladies is on Platform : and it was bright, clean and spacious. There’s a cafe on Platform 5a which is also bright and spacious with an area where you can work in devices charge them. The architecture is historic and beautiful.

Nottingham Railway Station is a well-maintained and efficient transport hub. The station is clean, with clear signage and a good range of facilities, including cafes and waiting areas. Staff are generally helpful, and ticket machines are easy to use. Connectivity to local transport, including trams and buses, is convenient. However, peak-hour congestion can be an issue, and more seating in waiting areas would be a welcome improvement. Overall, a reliable station for travel in and out of Nottingham.

I was travelling with a very large suitcase and got in the lift that said disabled access. Upon arriving upstairs at the tram area, the only way was down two flights of stairs. That was no information about which platform would be required for a journey at that area, nor when I went down the first flight of stairs towards all the platforms. Apparently I got in the wrong lift (it was labelled disabled access for trains). So I would recommend planning your journey in advance if you have suitcases or a disability. It’s not the first time I’ve struggled in this train station. I should’ve thought about that before I set off! On the plus side, when I finally found a member of staff who was walking along the platform, he helped me and carried my case down the last flight of stairs. I arrived at Café local on platform 2 and had the best service from a really lovely waitress in there and the coffee was great.

As an elderly tourist traveling alone in the pouring rain I was having some difficulty, and Paul's kind smile, patience, and courtesy was awesome to experience. Nottingham City is wonderful-- peaceful, inexpensive and it's people are so friendly. Even though Paul said he was from Scotland, he was an absolute highlight of my week's visit in Nottingham. A+++ for Paul and Notts ticket station! Thank you from California 🙂

Had to walk all across the train station 3 times trying to find someone who could unlock the disabled toilets. It should NOT be this difficult to use the facilities as a disabled person and half of the staff looked at me as if I was some kind of psychopath because their bosses made the decision to lock all the disabled toilets and give none of the staff keys to unlock them. Disabled people have it hard enough without being punished for other people not using their facilities correctly.

Neon Raptor's beers are great. Good variety, fresh and the slushies are pretty unique. Having been a fan for years, I was really looking forward to visiting the tap room, but I found it a rather disappointing experience. It's a bit of a dive - toilets are especially grim, it felt really cliquey, and some of the staff oozed arrogance. That said, there were 12 beers on tap, they tasted great, and they have benches outside in the sun, away from traffic. You can buy cans for take away too. I saw that they're moving the tap room to another unit in the market, so maybe that'll be the improvement it needs.

Staff we super friendly from the moment we walked in. Great knowledge on the beer they were serving. They also spoke to my partner on other beers that’s out and around in the circle. Would 100% recommend. The staff member that stuck out to us who was brilliant, sorry I didn’t get his name but had long blonde ish hair and piercings, he’s an asset to your team 😊 we come away with a few cans too. Although we could have bought the whole fridge 😂 will definitely be back

I've always had great beers from Neon Raptor, and have been able to go to the taproom a few times. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside. There's 12 beer lines, offering a range of styles from IPA's, stouts and sours. On Saturdays they have a local food truck offering street food.

The ☀️ is out and the soft serve machines are in full flow - topping up a couple of the lines on sale. I had the Fort Lauderdale Mandarin Orange Sour 🍦followed by the Speed Medium NEIPA - fresh on, both brewed on site. Great, knowledgeable staff on hand for quick service and to tell you all about Neon Raptors phenomenal story - past, present and their plans for the future.

Have always loved this place, I even have two t-shirts from this brewery. We visited on Friday night and though we arrived late, we were looked after by the staff. I only wish it stayed open later, or at the very least I wish they made it easier to get into Sneinton Market. We circled the market twice trying to get to Neon Raptor! Great beers, great vibes!
