Pub
Bar
Restaurant
"The Lion & Lobster" is a traditional pub in Hove that offers a lively atmosphere with three bars, a restaurant, and two gardens. The cozy interior is filled with eclectic decor, including pictures, books, and curios. The pub regularly hosts live music and open mic nights in its downstairs saloon. With an award-winning menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, the pub is known for its delicious food, especially the Sunday roasts.
Fantastic pub in a great location, serving a large selection of beer and cider on tap and exceptional food. I must admit, I hadn’t come to the Lion & Lobster for food before (despite having drinks here on a few occasions) - I am now regretting all of the missed opportunites for an outstanding meal! The menu at Lion & Lobster is extraordinary - I wanted to try absolutely everything. The food is well-priced considering the location of the pub and the quality of the ingredients. I chose the new season asparagus with crisy duck egg and sriracha butter, with the Korean BBQ pork belly as a side. I was blown away. The pork belly was melt-in-mouth, and the perfectly-cooked duck egg yolk flowed over the asparagus and brought all the fresh and spicy flavours together. It’s been a while since I’ve had pub food this memorable! There was a live folk band playing for a large portion of the evening which was really enjoyable, but slightly too loud (a group of us had come out to celebrate a friend’s promotion and have a catch up - due to the size of our group we couldn’t move tables and it was very hard to continue our conversation, which was a bit of a shame). Loud music aside, the Lion & Lobster has a great atmosphere and wonderful staff. I would not hesitate to come back here for dinner or drinks. Also, side-note, the giant pork scratching is no joke. It was ✨huge✨😂
Georgie H — Google review
The new chef offers up a delicious combination of traditional roast with a twist. The deluxe roast pork has perfectly cooked meat, topped with a crispy crackling. Accompanied by home-made apple puree, a huge piece of crispy puffed crackling, and a unique and flavoursome take on stuffing. The gravy is so good, you're likely to drink it out of the jug, and the Yorkshire pudding is exactly as it should be - fluffy inside with a crispy bite. Vegetables include a big roasted carrot, crispy cavolo nero, roasted baby leeks and mange tout with the obligatory roast potatoes (herby and definitely cooked with some sort of meat fat). The Lion & Lobster is reputably one of the oldest pubs in Brighton, with an interesting history. Google it! Full of character, it's a tardis with snug booths to discover, a downstairs proper pub, 1st floor restaurant and up another floor, a sunny roof terrace. On top of all of that, it's a stone's throw from the beach, it's ideal for walking off the generous roast.
Emma C — Google review
Just had the most amazing roast at The Lion and Lobster! First off, the pub itself is gorgeous - spread over multiple floors with plenty of character. You can eat in both the pub and the restaurant area. The pub has that cosy, traditional vibe with great décor, while the restaurant feels a little more formal but still warm and inviting. There’s even an outdoor terrace. It’s actually a huge venue, but it never feels overcrowded. The service was spot on: super friendly and impressively fast, especially given how busy it was. We had one chicken roast, one beef roast, plus a cauliflower cheese on the side, and everything was exceptional. I’m a big roast fan and have tried plenty, but this was easily one of the best I’ve had. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Everyone who served us was genuinely lovely, which made the whole experience even better. We paid £78 for two roasts, one side, four beers, and the service charge - which I think was excellent value for the quality. 🌟

Absolutely amazing yummy food and a great pub. Brilliant deco, hidden garden and great atmosphere plus the staff are brilliant. I have eaten the steak and that was very delicious not chewy at all and a perfect medium rare steak just how I ordered, very impressed. The cauliflower starter is explosive in your mouth, flavours are amazing. Also I would highly recommend the Sunday roast. Potatoes were spot on, fluffy in the middle but crunchy on the outside. Great flavours and textures very well put together and like art on your plate. Great pub / restaurant
Michelle G — Google review
I visited the Lion & Lobster yesterday after hearing the chefs from The New Club, which was renowned for its Sunday roasts, had moved into their kitchen. The welcome was lovely, the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, and the pub itself had a warm and cosy atmosphere. I really wanted to enjoy it, but unfortunately the food was a huge letdown. For over £70 for two roasts and a drink, I expected something memorable. Instead, what arrived felt very underwhelming. The roast potatoes, just three on the plate, were hard, chewy, and unpleasant enough that I left them untouched. The Yorkshire pudding was so overcooked it simply tasted like burnt toast. The vegetables were fine but tepid, as if they had been sitting around for too long, and the meat, which did have good flavour, was only lukewarm at best. I do not usually complain, especially in hospitality, but this felt like very poor value for money and a real disappointment given the reputation behind it. The service and atmosphere were spot on, but the food, which should be the main event, left me feeling ripped off. Sadly, I will not be returning. UPDATE: After leaving an honest review about a disappointing meal here, I was shocked by what happened next. One of the chefs went as far as to track down my partner online and add her on social media completely inappropriate and crossing a line. When I went in to address this directly, instead of professionalism I was met with a false explanation and the matter was brushed off. There was no manager available, so I’ve reported the incident to the police and now hold a crime reference number in case of any further contact. It’s a shame, because the pub itself has a good atmosphere and the front of house staff were initially welcoming. But after this experience, I cannot recommend the Lion & Lobster, and I feel others should be aware of how poorly the situation was handled.

The best roast dinner. The stuffing was delicious and over the dinner was very tasty and it came with a Yorkshire. The pub has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back. Not forgetting the good range of beverages and Harveys Sussex Best Beer.

Wonderful pub - love the sun terrace, the downstairs & the restaurant. Staff are friendly & nothing is too much trouble. The new roasts are out of this world!
Alis K — Google review
What a gem of a pub, we’d booked a house opposite through booking.com and popped in for a drink while waiting to check in. We ordered some lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. After a full day walking on Saturday we decided to keep it local and popped to our ‘local’ for dinner. We sat in the restaurant.. this place is like a tardis! The food was lovely and the service was great, there was no rush so we could enjoy our wine and chat. The pub has a lovely atmosphere a real mix of ages would highly recommend this place. Well done to the chef and all the staff .

The Walrus is a charming restaurant located in the meandering streets near the waterfront, offering a variety of delectable Sunday roasts. From 28-day sirloin beef to vegan mushroom wellington, they have something for everyone. The venue is known for its dog-friendly atmosphere, welcoming furry friends both indoors and outdoors. With cozy nooks and an elegant dining room, it's a perfect blend of traditional British pub charm with modern service and top-quality beers.
Coeliac review. Great gluten free options. I chatted with Hugh, who was very helpful in explaining the precautions they take to avoid cross-contamination. Dedicated gluten free fryer. I had fish and chips with a gf beer (two options on tap). Delicious food. Friendly service. Great atmosphere. Friends enjoyed the food from the standard menu too.

Had the best evening at the cocktail and food pairing night, superb value, gorgeous tasty dishes and perfectly paired cocktails. Such good service, staff were attentive and friendly. Perfect night. My only minor complaint and it’s not really a complaint at all, was the portions were a little big and the last cocktail was a long one but we were too full to finish it. Couldn’t manage to finish most courses, despite how delicious they were
Sally C — Google review
Cute place definitely great for larger groups. Our server was lovely absolutely no complaints about her! Will say though I doubt I’ll be returning due to the wait times and the actual quality of food. It was about 50 minutes of a wait for the food to come out, and the halloumi burger at that point didn’t feel soft but instead rubbery and cold; this too was the case with the chicken in the caesar salad which was dry. My parents also ordered sticky toffee pudding but that also took a while to come out and was more of a dry cake consistency rather than soft and warm how it is meant to be. Regardless, the service was great and the atmosphere was homely too!
Eleni — Google review
Huge space, set over multiple floors, with a roof garden up top, and the diner up on the first floor, although not so well signed. Good standard food, well presented, and the staff are friendly enough.
Gary W — Google review
The cocktail and food pairing evening was flawless—creative drinks, delicious dishes, and spot-on pairings. The ambiance was beautiful and the service exceptional. Truly one of the best dining nights I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend! Our waitress Poppy was absolutely brilliant, so attentive and helpful!

Had a lovely girls night at the cocktail pairing night in the carpenters cocktail lounge. Cocktails were delicious, food was amazing, and our server Poppy was very attentive. 10/10 highly recommend ✨

We all went for roasts, the meets excellence. Some if the accompaniments could have been better - not bad, just not five star worthy. Biggest issue was time for food to arrive.
Simon G — Google review
Oh my, the food at The Walrus was AMAZING. We all had a Monday roast, there was a half lemon &thyme chicken, roast pork belly, and a trio roast which had the chicken, pork and a thick tender slice of beef. We thought it might be quiet being a Monday but was surprised by how busy it was at 6.30pm Beer was good too Definitely recommend

Small plates restaurant
Modern British restaurant
Restaurant
The Flint House, part of Ben McKellar's Gingerman group, is an intimate and stylish restaurant that opened in April 2019. It offers a variety of small plates featuring meat, fish, and veggie options along with cocktails and wine.
The Flint House is an absolute gem — the first restaurant I’ve been to in a long time where every single box is ticked with full marks. The service is faultless: friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced. The drinks list is superb, with thoughtful cocktails and an excellent wine selection. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour (highly recommended Sunday lunch). And the ambience? Stylish, relaxed, and effortlessly cool. A 10/10 across the board — highly recommended.
James A — Google review
This is a nice restaurant experience, with great service and an interesting menu. We opted for the chefs menu, with wine flight, given it included several of the dishes we were interested in. We sat at the pass to appreciate the experience. The food was good, technically well done with some considered flavours. The portions were probably a little bigger than we required, but the ingredients were of a high standard and the finished product a pleasing result. The setting was nice but not as intimate as other restaurants we have tried. In summary, a nice experience but not necessarily one to repeat.
Sean C — Google review
10/10 evening at the Flinthouse, we cannot rate highly enough! Our waiter Jeff absolutely made the experience, he was so friendly and such a fun part of our evening! Food was fantastic, some of the best!
Courtney C — Google review
We went to the Flint House for the first time today, I’ve been wanting to go there for ages! Our server was Zain, who was the epitome of charm, professionalism & friendliness mixed into one person! The food was fab & I loved my Lychee cocktail too! Sitting up on the terrace was very special. Would highly recommend a visit!
Debbie ( — Google review
This restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away from the main town centre. The décor blends industrial with classy, offering a spacious upstairs seating area and a terrace for summer dining. Run by the Gingerman group (I remember visiting the Ginger Pig back in 2012), it was just as good. The food was of a consistently good standard, both in quality and presentation. Service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The ambience was relaxed, yet dishes arrived promptly without feeling rushed. With its choice of à la carte small plates or full set menus (with or without wine pairings), I can see this place becoming very popular. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here and would happily return—and recommend it to others.
Jo T — Google review
We’ve been wanting to visit for a while, overall it didn’t disappoint. Most of the dishes are absolutely incredible, especially the lamb shoulder, red mullet, rump steak, pork loin, oysters and prawns. Highly recommend the mash and green bean salad as sides. The confit potatoes looked fantastic but could have had a little more seasoning. The mains are a little on the small side but when you are ordering sides to accompany them nobody went hungry! I was slightly disappointed by the puddings which sounded delicious on paper but didn’t really live up to expectation. The drinks were excellent, lovely martini menu and we had a fantastic bottle of primitivo. Service overall was good, our server was helpful and friendly, one of the staff members seemed to had forgotten how to smile but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Flint House!
Charlie P — Google review
There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Lanes with excellent reviews. We chose here due to the small plates seeming to priced fairly reasonably. We were not disappointed the steak for £20 was a normal main course size and probably the best steak I've ever had. The mackerel was gorgeous and lamb was incredibly tender. The fact they offer carafes of wine also makes it possible to have a nice wine without blowing the budget.
Lewis B — Google review
Without doubt the best restaurant in Brighton, certainly in terms of value. Three courses for £22? Outrageously good. Examples - Beef shin pappardelle to die for, and Oyster tempura simply heaven. A fascinating wine list - and I was allowed to sample a taster of the gorgeous Timorasso before buying a glass. Do please go - it's a revelation and, for me, the best birthday present I've ever rewarded myself

Restaurant
Plateau is a relaxed wine bar in Brighton that offers a unique selection of naturally produced wines and modern European sharing plates. The establishment prides itself on its diverse range of natural wines, with staff members who are knowledgeable and willing to explain the differences between organic and biodynamic options. The menu features "plateaux," which are generous sharing dishes with seasonal offerings, including vegetarian options like celeriac and apple beignets, cheeses, herb gnocchi, and flatbreads with dips.
Julian is an incredible mixologist. He’s elevated the art of cocktails to a whole new level. Loved the place, the ambience, the music and drinks. Highly recommended!!

Didn’t plan to shoot — just to sit and work. But then Plateau happened. A bluish-green facade with tiled charm pulled me in. Brick walls, a black mosaic bar, warm orange lighting from oversized lamps… the kind of space that quietly asks to be photographed. The ginger lady behind the bar welcomed me with a smile, and that set the tone — this place feels kind. Eventually, I closed the laptop and opened the lens. Couldn’t resist.
Manuel V — Google review
Absolutely loved our dinner at Plateau. We both went for the lamb rump – perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Shared the crispy potatoes with alioli, which were golden, crunchy, and seriously moreish. The hibiscus margarita was a standout – refreshing, slightly floral, and great to sip on. Lovely atmosphere, friendly service, and a relaxed but vibrant vibe.
Melanie H — Google review
Popped in for a quick drink as part of date night with my wife. Sat at the bar, which would have been my preferred choice regardless. My wife loved her espresso martini. I had an arty farty lemonade which was nice. The bread and olive oil with seeds in was absolutely amazing. As good as I’ve had, and I’ve been to Italy etc. Small, intimate establishment. We got lucky did advise booking a table and wouldn’t recommend it for a large party. Would certainly return.

Amazing dining experience. Relaxed atmosphere, exceptional service and incredible food. We loved that all was locally sourced, some grown by farmers right outside of town. Unique produce grown using biodynamic farming methods. Sourced organic wines and sustainable proteins. Everything was fresh and flavorful, with unique taste combinations. Absolutely Delicious! Attentive and well informed server. Patient with our 6 year old. Exceptional dining experience.

Came for dinner on Sat night. I've been coming here for years, and have always loved it. Dinner on Sat was perfect, Catherine our waiter was on point, attentive and charming. Mesmerist is a vibrant and lively pub located in the heart of Brighton's Lanes. The retro decor and gin palace-inspired ambiance make it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. With three floors offering individually styled rooms, this dapper lounge bar provides a perfect setting to enjoy quality food or expertly mixed cocktails. The establishment boasts an all-weather rooftop garden, making it ideal for alfresco drinks year-round.
This place is brilliant. Lived in Brighton for years and been in a few times. Never thought to review it until I saw a couple of poor reviews-are they (the reviewers) mad or do they have an axe to grind? Brilliant food and drink and supreme service. Have recommended to family and friends.
Matthew M — Google review
20th July 2025 £55 for two The early months of Mich’s pregnancy have been beset by seemingly most of the possible negative side-effects - most prominently daily morning sickness well beyond the point where people helpfully keep reminding her it should have stopped by now - and, barring one urgent request for a strawberry Yazoo, very few of the fun cravings some women experience. So when one Sunday she woke with a happy lack of nausea and a desire for big fat burgers we decided to make the most of it and head into town. This newfound feeling of normalcy basically extended to wanting to not be in the bathroom with her head down a toilet for as long as possible and also to eat as much as she could, so first we wandered along the seafront to peruse the crossword over a coffee and a ginormous slice of banana bread and possibly the jammiest doughnut (perhaps even too much jam?!) at Fika. This is important context. As the decision to burger had been made early in the day, and as Mich was having such a nice time, and as that slice of banana bread was enough to satiate her for pretty much an entire afternoon, I had a lot of time to mentally conceive of - and build, and tweak over several dozen phases of interactive design: from raw red onion rings to cubed and caramelised white and back again - my perfect burger. After one too many “are you hungry yet?”s we agreed to independently research and then come back together to discuss potential venues. Top of the list was a place called 7Bone, pretty much because the main picture on their website matched most closely my own design: two smashed patties, with melted cheese seeping into its gaps, in one of those milky-floury non-brioche buns. (Mich wanted a chicken burger, and they did those too). Also raising an eyebrow was the fact that “ooh, Red Dog are in the Mesmerist now”, so we stopped off for a look at their menu en route, and had reliable old Honest Burgers nearby as a Plan C too. It wasn’t right at 7Bone at all and I think we knew it from the off. Not that that stopped us from asking for a table a few minutes after we’d dismissed the waiter once with a “we’re just having a look at the menu”, despite by that point in the day knowing it almost off by heart. But for some reason the in-jokey names felt more egregious in the flesh (“iaia(i)n with three eyes”, “peter green”, “all right all right all right”), and coupled with the option only to order via an app and the too-loud AI-sounding ‘music’ over the speakers, we decided to leave. So to the Mesmerist. Turns out Red Dog can be just as creative with its burgers while managing to come up with names that don’t make you feel like a teenage girl at her first big-school sleepover with a bunch of friends who all knew each other from primary, but really I just wanted a really good cheeseburger, so I didn’t really pay them much attention. I asked for a double, and Mich got a messy spicy cheesy slawy juicy fried chicken thigh thing, with obligatory buffalo wings and chips to share on the side too. Did they satisfy our cravings? Mich was just really happy to be able to eat something like that again for the first time in ages, and given she normally uses a knife and fork for her burgers like a weirdo anyway it didn’t really matter that her bun disintegrated under duress of all the liquid seeping into it. A little sickly by the end perhaps, but hit the spot. Mine did, but only just about. It’s really difficult, if burgers are your thing, to serve a terrible one, but this wasn’t exactly special: as you can see from the picture the buns were the cheap claggy type, which meant that them forgetting my second patty, throwing the ratios all off, had more of an impact than it might otherwise have done. The flavour on the wings was fine but they looked like they’d come from the chicks who got picked last in PE; the chips (and smoked chipotle mayo) were excellent. Overall fine, but nothing to write home about. Unless you’re me, and analysing average food in minute detail is for some reason your thing.

I hosted my partner’s 30th birthday at The Mesmerist in one of their private rooms, and overall, we had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly helpful in the lead-up to the event and made the setup on the day so easy. We were even able to access the room early, which gave us plenty of time to decorate and get everything perfect. The team working behind our private bar were absolutely amazing – so friendly and welcoming, which really added to the atmosphere of the night. There was a small issue with pouring pints at our bar, so we had to purchase those from another bar in the venue, but honestly, it didn’t impact the evening in any significant way. The only slight hiccup was with the music. The volume was a bit low at first, and later in the night, there were a few moments where it cut out. While it wasn’t a major problem, it would have been great if everything had run smoothly. One thing I really appreciated was how flexible the team were after the event. We were given plenty of time to take down our decorations and even allowed to collect them a few days later, which was such a big help. All of our guests had a wonderful time and many commented on how great the space was. I’d definitely consider hosting another event here in the future. Huge thanks to everyone at The Mesmerist for helping make the night so special!
Ellie D — Google review
The food was amazing, everything we ordered tasted great. The burnt end nuggets, nachos, and the giant onion rings were definite highlights. But the organisation wasn’t great, so it’s not the best spot for big groups. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, we had to move some seats/tables ourselves, they only took half the table’s drink order, they brought out too many of items and were missing a meal (however they did offer a free drink for the missing meal). It’s also a pretty loud place, so probably better for smaller groups or couples. The food is pricey, but the portions are huge, wish that was mentioned on the menu because we would’ve ordered less if we knew!

Went today as found out Red Dog Saloon operates out of here and it didn't disappoint!! Firstly the staff were attentive as soon as we walked through the door, I love a warm welcome. The food was just as good as their london uncles!! I went for my fav (Cronos) and was loved every bite. Recommend this pub for good food and a welcoming environment. (And the background music wasn't bad either!!!)

Me and my boyfriend came here on probably the last summers day of 2025 and what a wonderful place it is! We sat in the upstairs roof Top area and it was absolutely wonderful, the drinks were fabulous and very well priced and we loved seeing the beautiful art and flowers around the place! Will definitely be coming back throughout 2026 <3

Went on a Sunday. Just after midday. The gent behind the bar was a bit blunt. Tried to make conversation with him while ordering food and got little to no response. I ordered the cheese burger, while it came out quickly. It actually was cold and a little to pink for me. And for the price surprised it didn’t come with chips. Has a lot of potential! Just a bit of attention to detail and staff who are customer facing! putting my review up to 3 starts due to the nice reply from management

The Salt Room is a chic and modern British restaurant located in Brighton, offering stunning sea views and a terrace for alfresco dining. It has been recognized as the Seafood Restaurant of the Year in 2017, known for its sustainable and locally sourced seafood dishes. The menu, crafted by Chef Dave Mothersill, features an array of freshly prepared seafood options such as cuttlefish, oysters, lobster, and sea bass.
I visited The Salt Room with my wife tonight for her birthday. We were greeted at the door by a French Manager who was very friendly, with a great accent. He sat us at a lovely table by the window and made sure we were very well looked after. Our waiter was Gabor, who similarly was very friendly and genuinely only interested to ensure we had a lovely experience. He filleted out fish in front of us and took time to recommend all the specials. The food was absolutely fantastic. My favourite of all the dishes was the dover sole. Even the desserts at the end were fantastic. We will definitely be back soon and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Fantastic food, but absolutely the staff made our evening so special. It felt like nothing was too much trouble for them.

We had a fantastic lunch here mid week. The food quality is quite simply outstanding, and as for the shellfish I have to say we were delighted. My wife and I have just returned from a 2 month stay in the Algarve's biggest fishing port where seafood and fresh fish is obviously plentiful so we were wondering how we would fare on our return to the UK after that. We were not disappointed, the XL prawns were locally sourced, fresh and absolutely delicous. The ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the Piri-piri Monkfish my wife had was also excellent. It's not cheap, but it's more than a meal - it's an experience - the wines, top class service and ambiance all adds to it and the hosts clearly take great pride in what they do, so it's worth paying the extra if you can afford it. They claim it's Brighton's best seafood restaurant and I have no reason to doubt that. It's certainly a high bar. Looking forward to coming back one day, sadly we don't get to Brighton more than once a year.

We had a wonderful dinner yesterday at The Salt Room. The restaurant was full of atmosphere, yet we were comfortably seated at a large table. The service was excellent – the waiters were friendly, attentive, and clearly very professional. On their advice, we ordered the monkfish to share, served with mussels and moqueca sauce. It was simply gorgeous – beautifully cooked and full of flavour. To finish, we had the lemon tart and truffles, both of which were outstanding. A truly memorable dining experience. Many thanks to the team at The Salt Room.

We had the most wonderful meal at the Salt Room. Excellent customer service from the moment we walked through the door. Ben looked after us for the whole evening and helped us with a fabulous wine choice. Thank you Ben we really appreciated your excellent customer service! The food was excellent- best scallops I’ve ever had. Finished with a delicious Old Fashioned cocktail. I would recommend the food here. Different options to suit too. Lovely!

We had an amazing dining experience at The Salt Room! The food was absolutely unforgettable — we ordered the mixed seafood grill and the dry-aged beef steak, and both were cooked to perfection. Every bite was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was friendly and attentive. I forgot to take photos, but the taste said it all — truly a memorable meal!

This place had been on our bucket list for a long time and we had booked months in advance. Sadly I have to say we were deeply disappointed with the Salt room. We arrived and were shown to our table. We ordered the scallops and the ceviche as starters and the monk fish to share. The starters were very good. From Here on our experience went down hill very fast! The monk fish, £60 to share, we were given a side plate each and no way of serving the sauce and to be honest I would have expected a little garnish, even if it was just chopped parsley! Overall the food was ok as seen in the pictures. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the service, we watched with glee as the table opposite us were pandered to topping up there wine, engaging with conversation asking if everything was ok, we had nothing! No interaction of any kind with our waiter. My wife never complains, but thought today she would, She was told by the maitre’d that “well it was his birthday yesterday and may be he shouldn’t be in work today! We were asked if we wanted a drink as way of an apology, to which we didn’t agree but were given, we then started to talk to the couple on the table opposite us and explained our experience to them, whilst doing so our waiter was swooped out, although by then we had finished our meal. The maitre’d then comes to our table and asked us to leave stating “we require your table back NOW”. As we were leaving he turned to us both and said the we were black listed and must never return! As we had spoken to the couple on the opposite table. To say we were both gobsmacked is an understatement! We have never been treated like this in our lives and will not ever consider going back. What a totally over rated over priced pretentious establishment!

We love it here. We normally go before a concert, in this case the wonderful ABC. The food and service is exceptional and the way the decor was put in place is amazing and a nice story behind it. Having had general surgery only two days before, the staff had no issue with sorting out my lobster so I could eat it with one hand ! We both think this place and staff are fantastic. Oh the fries with the lobster are just so nice.....

Located in the heart of the Brighton Lanes, The Cricketers is a historic Victorian pub with an elegant upstairs bar named after author Graham Greene, who frequented this establishment. Dating back to 1547, it claims to be the oldest pub in Brighton and has a rich history, being mentioned in Greene's novel 'Brighton Rock.' The interior exudes traditional Victorian charm with plush scarlet banquettes, thick carpets, flock wallpaper, and an array of paintings.
We held our area meeting in the room above the pub. On arrival the room was all laid out ready with water and glasses. Excellent venue to hold a meeting. Big screen to hook your laptop up to. We also had lunch there and the food was fantastic. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish. We will definitely be returning again. Great venue. Thank you

We absolutely love The Cricketers! It’s our go-to spot whenever we are in Brighton for drinks. The atmosphere is always lively and full of energy, with a great crowd every time. We especially enjoy sitting outside, soaking up the buzz of the city, and relaxing with a drink after a day at the beach. It’s such a welcoming place, and we know we’ll keep coming back again and again.

We were in Brighton for the night and just stumbled upon this pub, and what a great find it was 🙂 Lovely good old fashioned British pub. Lovely seating with good beer and wine selection. We decided to eat and each had a roast and it was gorgeous. Can totally recommend a visit here and we’ll go back the next time we’re there.

What a fantastic night yesterday!! Incredible atmosphere at the Courtyard Bar with the live music band. They played all the rock/pop hits, including Oasis songs and finished with my favourite song ever, “Mr. Brightside”! ❤️I had the absolute time of my life. Beautiful music, completely rammed (especially on the 2nd set from midnight!) with a joyous and super friendly audience. So glad I stumbled in here!! Good beer, great audience and a super tight band. If you’re looking to dance on live music in Central Brighton, look no further!! 😎 🎸

We had booked the greene room for the 5/11. For around 30 quests.Rob and his team were incredible, special shout out too the lads behind the bar! We had ordered and paid for set B buffet menu, which everyone was so happy with the food. The venue was beautful & we are very happy of what a wonderful evening it was. Only thing I would say is there was a small communication error, but it was easily rectified with showing recepits. (If you prepay, please keep hold of your recepits, because as humans errors can happen!). Rob, and your team. Thank you for making the day special with your kindness and relaxed approach 🥰

The Urchin Brewery & Shellfish Pub in Hove is a charming spot for seafood enthusiasts. With a covered, heated garden and a maritime-themed interior, it offers a unique experience. The pub serves fresh shellfish and hand-crafted beer, with the added bonus of their own mini brewery on-site. The menu features an array of luxurious seafood options such as Jersey rock oysters, potted crab, whole lobsters, and Malaysian king prawns.
Very nice and cosy pub, with food better than your average pub grub! They focus on fish and there are some great dishes with high quality fish on both the classic menu and the constantly changing specials. The flavours were fun and creative, pairing fish with things you don’t see much elsewhere - they do still have the classics too though! The food was indeed very nice, but a little pricey for what you actually got. The oysters were especially good and £2.50 for a plain one isn’t actually that bad! The service was lovely the whole night and we had a very romantic evening :)

Always a great experience at the Urchin! Can’t find any fresher seafood for such affordable prices. Everything is cooked to perfection and served with love. They deffo know their food and you can tell from their wine list and from the flavour combinations they serve. The staff has been lovely everytime I been there, and the sitting area is clean and nicely decorated. Only issue was some stones left in the mussels so they weren’t properly cleaned but that happened only once (yesterday) however they’re forgiven because everything else is 10/10! *chefs kiss*

We were a bit apprehensive walking out here from Brighton due to the distance and it was mainly the brewery aspect that drew us. They had a whole lobster for £38 which honestly seemed like a typo (in Edinburgh we would normally pay >£50) the lobster was phenomenal. The craft beer selection was a little bit disappointing but the food more than made up for it and service was excellent!

Oysters were amazing so fresh but the Paella was such a dissapoinment! Overpowering flavor of fennel, and when we mentioned it to the waitress she just shrugged and said 'well I love fennel'. I also like fennel, but not when it overpowers the rest of the dish. 5 of 6 clams were not open, and my husband had mild food poisoning symptoms within 2 hours of us leaving the restaurant. Such a pity as we love seafood, but we won't be back and will not be recommending

At long last, I made it here and I was not disappointed. Every mouthful was an experience..an explosion of flavour in the mouth. I really enjoyed the crab and the sauce it came in was soo tasty I drank the lot of it! My partner had the mussels which were also so tasty. The oysters were fresh and delightful. Will definitely come again! Highly recommend 👌. Quality food at a great price

It’s been a while since my trip, but the memories are still vivid, so I wanted to leave a review. The batter of the fish and chips was truly a masterpiece — light and crisp beyond imagination. Even after some time, it didn’t get soggy, and the fish stayed juicy and perfectly intact. The beer was fantastic, and the service was very friendly. Booked here for a work dinner as a group of 5 while we were stopping over in Brighton. It was incredible! The food was amazing and definitely a highlight of the tour we were doing! Staff were excellent and the food was incredible. Served on smaller plates, we thought it mightn’t be enough but with the level of flavours and richness of each dish, everyone was full. I will definitely go back next time I’m in Brighton.

The Burnt Orange absolutely lived up to the hype. From start to finish the experience was outstanding. The food was next level – every dish had immense flavour, perfectly balanced and cooked with real care. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the menu, because nothing felt standard or predictable, it all had a twist that made it exciting. The restaurant itself is stunning. Beautifully decorated, with a warm and stylish vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay for hours. It manages to feel both polished and relaxed at the same time. The staff deserve a mention too. They were exceptional, super friendly, attentive without hovering, and just really easy to get along with. It honestly felt like being looked after by your mates, which made the night even more enjoyable. And the cocktails… wow!! Every one I tried was mind blowing, both in presentation and taste. Easily some of the best I’ve had in Brighton.

You wonder if its going to be as good as you expect. The experience was a birthday gift from my niece . My wife and I went with moderate expectations but we were really happy with the whole thing. I loved the range of food and the care the staff took to make sure everything was perfect. The multiple dishes provided, solved my normal problem of what to choose on the menu and wanting to try a bit of everything. Just go with a few friends and have a great time

Best roast in Brighton right now. High prices but that's for me a reassuring sign the quality should be high too, and it is! Love this pub generally - good beer, good wine, great staff, lovely atmosphere 👌

Nice roast. But it took over an hour to arrive. By which point we were ravenous! They had given us extra sides by accident, then tried to retrieve them from the table as they said they had run out. We explained that we would pay for them, but also you can’t put them on someone else’s table now as we had eaten from them 😆. But they still tried to take them away telling us we can’t get food for free. Bless them! That being said, it was very pleasant apart from that. They need to get a bit more organised and train their staff a bit better.

Had a Sunday roast here at the weekend at is was up there with the best. The pork was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! Roast potatoes were crisp, salty goodness. The veg (cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots, greens, sweet potato purée) were all just as you’d want them. Great big fluffy Yorkshire - good stuff. And the gravy was thin but it packed a flavour punch and was served in a good quantity! If I could change one thing it would have been to swap out the purée for extra apple sauce, but that’s personal preference! My partner and friend were equally impressed with the vegetarian roast, however they were both slightly unsure of the veggie gravy which was orange, potentially carrot or sweet potato based. It was tasty - just unexpected. The sticky toffee pudding was really moist and flavourful! Personally I like it with a little less toffee sauce, or for it to be in a jug, but it didn’t stop us eating it all. Will definitely be back.

This is a fantastic pub with a large multi level garden, very dog friendly. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Great choice of beers and the “Nourish Bowl” with chicken was unexpectedly delicious! What a cracking boozer, tucked away (slightly) - we had a round table with a view across the whole pub (and was perfectly placed for the TV screens, showing the rugby). Their Guinness was good - as was their Harvey's (Best and Old on tap) - we had some chips, which were good - other people's food looked decent, so we will be back for food another time. The man (i assume is the owner) who served us, was very welcoming and ensured we were looked after. Food was great, everyone enjoyed their meals. The only reason I am rating this 4* is because the sticky toffee pudding was a little dry and was sadly not sticky! Great advice and knowledge on the beers available on tap.

Best bit is there are several different drinks- different mimosas and elderflower fizz and the server keeps bringing jugs. So no waiting at the bar. If you come in a large group then share pizzas as their oven is small and pizzas come out at different times. Server was very friendly. Very cool place. Best for bottomless brunch if you like pizza.

Not enough beer options, no porter, no stout. Corn fritters were not to the standard the price would suggest. The chicken burger was not a burger, it was more like a chicken sandwich so, it was all style really. The pie was also chicken and a little disappointing too. The place looks nice and interesting, the service was ok and it's very easy to get to from the station. Kid friendly during the day, but no high chairs or kids menu.

A really lovely pub, me and my girlfriend just sat for a drink and quick bite to eat before leaving Brighton and loved it. The bartenders were wonderful, and the food tasted great! The aesthetic is also very cute, I loved the decorations ❤️ I enjoyed our little break here very much and would definitely stop by again if I return to Brighton.

Lovely pub located just off Brighton station. The staff are lovely and the food was good. Only issue is their food menu doesn't completely match with their website menu. That aside it's a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a beverage

Have nothing negative to say about The Grand Central, Brighton. The staff always make an effort to be friendly and courteous. The food ( have only had the vegan burger, twice) was excellent and the atmosphere is welcoming and fun. Reasonably priced and a good location... As I said, no complaints. Happy to recommend. Will be going back again, I'm sure.

The Coal Shed Brighton is a modern restaurant with a wooden floor and industrial details, specializing in locally sourced meat and fish. While known for its steaks, the chefs also excel at preparing fish on charcoal grills. The restaurant's smaller plates feature seafood cooked to perfection over open flames. A must-try dish is the wood-fired cod, showcasing the establishment's mastery of cooking over fire.
We had a wonderful anniversary meal at The Coal Shed. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful interior design which stylish, warm, and perfect for a special occasion. The service was fantastic throughout. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. As it was our anniversary, they even surprised us with a little dessert, which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. We both had steaks, and they were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly cooked & full of flavour. For sides I would particularly recommend the mac and cheese and creamy spinach. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend The Coal Shed for anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting.

We’ve just finished our meal for my birthday and I cannot fault it in any way. The service was next level. I had the fillet steak and it was the best steak I’ve had to date, without a doubt! The wine the waitress recommended was perfectly what I’d requested, and the overall experience was just perfect. Cannot thank the team enough. Next time we’re in Brighton, we’ll definitely be back!

We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening for dinner service. The lovely lady at front of house showed us to our table. Our server Serena ensured we were well looked after during our visit. The restaurant's decor is very classy and pretty atmosphere to be in. We enjoyed all courses of our dinner from starters, mains and desserts. Thank you coal shed for an amazing experience.

Absolutely wonderful service and experience. I had the scallops to start (stunning!) and cod which was good but would, with the other flavours on the plate (charred hispi cabbage and curried mussel sauce), benefited from a firmer fish like hake or halibut, which is much firmer. To me the cod was lost in the bold other flavours. Overall though this is an excellent restaurant and the execution of food presentation is outstanding.

Supposed to take photos of the meals but ended up only with empty plates – that’s how good it was! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, portions are generous, and everything tasted excellent. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Highly recommended!

Our visit to The Coal Shed was fantastic—the food was absolutely amazing. The experience was truly elevated, however, when they accidentally brought something wrong in the order. Their response was a masterclass in professionalism: they sincerely apologized, immediately prepared the correct meal, and then comped it entirely, refusing to let me pay for their error. This incredible gesture of owning their mistake so gracefully didn't just fix the situation, it guaranteed our loyalty and turned a great night into an unforgettable one.

Another fantastic meal at the Coal Shed. However, this one was particularly special as we out to celebrate our friend’s anniversary and had to break him out of the hospice to do so! Navigating going out with a wheelchair and someone who is very unwell is a challenging and often stressful experience. The whole team at the Coal Shed was amazing, with special mention for Guy and Tim who really went the extra mile to make this special occasion as seamless and fun as possible. It goes without saying that the food was amazing (I mean we did have 1.8kg of wagu beef so it was going to be pretty tremendous), the surrounding were beautiful, and the atmosphere elegant but lively! I cannot recommend highly enough. Many thanks again to the team who made this evening so wonderful.

Lively already late afternoon on a September Thursday, great atmosphere for a birthday celebration. Delicious food (we had a blow out consisting of steaks, ribs, pork belly, steak tartare and puds plus coffees but no booze). Friendly welcome and attentive but not intrusive service and a kind touch of a thoughtful birthday treat without any singing (:

64 Degrees is a trendy and innovative restaurant located in Brighton, offering a unique dining experience with its small-plate concept. The industrial-style space features an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs prepare dishes like flat iron misozuko with Bovril and shallot, Gorgonzola, kimchi and hazelnut, or brill with grapefruit and chilli.
A, quite frankly, sensational dinner at 64 Degrees. The tasting menu was brilliantly executed and being sat at in the heart of the action really makes for a wonderful dining experience. The chefs were fantastic and took time to chat and explain the dishes, too. You could feel (and taste) the passion. Personal highlight was the venison and birria taco dish which I can say was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The usual pairing wines weren't available but alternatives were well matched and complimented the dishes. The wine service was a tad slow but the house owned it and made up for it. A wonderful experience. Thank you.

Really nice little restaurant serving a regularly evolving tasting menu. They have a few seats at the Pass where you can watch the chefs at work - both times we've visited, we've sat there and had a great experience.

We have eaten here a few times, and has others have said its an intimate and personal experience with an evolving menu of tasting delights. This time we had some wonderful dishes, the angelotti and bisque is delicious, which can also be paired with wines. We prefer to sit at the pass both to see the plating but also talk to the chefs about the menu, ingredients, etc. We love it here and will try to visit every time we are in town.

Loved it. Went at the lunch sitting and sat at the counter right in front of the chef. Chef was very calm and professional in the kitchen and always happy to chat with us when we had questions. Each course would be put in front of us with a description of what it is by either the waitress or chef, both of which were very welcoming and lovely people. Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious. Most dishes were classic combinations of flavours but executed to a high standard. The lobster bisque in particular was a standout! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice relaxed dining experience with some very tasty food. Can't wait to go back.

Wow! So a friend and I stumbled across this restaurant as we were wandering through Brighton and we decided to stop for lunch! The food was impeccable, the flavours from each dish were literally mind blowing and we could see the love and attention Chef Michael and his team put into every portion. Exquisite dining experience, wonderful service and top notch culinary and presentation skills! Absolutely recommend! Can’t wait to go back. And I appreciated the consideration of the staff regarding my shellfish and nut allergies! Thanks so much

Michael and team are masters of their craft and we were incredibly fortunate to pick their restaurant for dinner! From the sublime mackerel with apple and beetroot, to the spicy Korean chicken, to the rich brill and brown shrimp everything was amazing! I would say we would be back soon, but this was a special trip to the UK, to this special restaurant which hopefully tells you how good it is!

Such a fantastic restaurant, the last time I visited was about 15 years ago when I lived in Brighton , so I had to stop by for lunch while I was in the area and it was every bit as good as I remember. If only you would open up in Manchester 🙏🏼. Exceptional, fresh produce , great staff, I love everything about this place.

An absolute gem in Brighton! The seafood was out of this world every bite fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The oysters and scallops? Perfection. But what truly made the experience unforgettable were the charismatic waiters who turned our lunch into full-on entertainment. Great energy, witty banter, and top-notch service from start to finish. If you’re in Brighton and want more than just a meal - go here. You’ll leave with a full belly and a big smile.

Jessica W — Google review
The rating should be 4.5 rather than 4. The only reason for it not being 5 was the portion of my fish dish as explained in the review below. The overall experience was outstanding. My friends and I decided to to go to Brighton for lunch. As I am Gluten Free it takes ages to find Gluten Free restaurants. I finally narrowed down 2 Sushi restaurants. When we reached there 1 of the 3 of us decided they didn't feel like Sushi 😐 and preferred local sea food being in Brighton; which in hindsight was a good call as we had a fantastic meal at Riddle & Finns. We googled Sea food restaurants and Riddle & Finns showed up. I knew it was pricey so had omitted it from my selection but since everyone was hungry we decided to take a look. When we went in it was busy but because they had a 4 course set menu for 35 pounds and the food smelt divine we decided to eat there. They had a separate Gluten Free menu which was great and were very particular about food allergy. We started with a bread basket with Mackerel Pate, Taramasalata and horse radish sauce. When they brought it and I asked if they had some GF bread, they whisked it away and brought another one with Gluten free Blinis as the bread was in the tray with the Pate and so they didn't want to risk cross contamination. The Pate was so delicious we were wondering whether to get another round! My friends got the seafood platter as a main which was 75 pounds minimum 2 people. They said it was very good with scallops, oysters, mussels, prawns & Octopus. I had the #Gluten Free Smoked Haddock fillet on a bed of Colcannon, with poached egg, Prosciutto and Champagne sauce. The Sauce was delicious, the fish very fresh BUT the fish was wafer thin. It was most likely sliced horizontally as no fish is that thin. For 29 pounds I didn't expect to eat more potatoes than fish! This was my only complaint hence the 4 star rating. I expected a chunky piece of fish. There was an offer on the Negronis for 5 pounds each and 1 round Free if you join their membership. The Negroni was served in a really small glass hence the 5 pounds but was well made. The other 2 finished with a beautiful looking dessert platter that they said was yummy but unfortunately the only #GF dessert was a truffle or Ice cream. When I tried to pick a truffle off the plate from the side without the Gluten, Dave the server said he'd bring me a fresh truffle if I wanted and not to take a chance as he took allergies very seriously. Dave rocks! He took such good care of my Gluten Free requirements. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good sea food, good service and a lovely atmosphere with candles on the table too 😃 Big shout out to our server Dave for his fantastic service.

Amazing special of scallops in a chicken butter sauce was the standout for me. I also had lemon sole with samphire sauce and heritage tomatoes and optional extra of burrata which was very nice. Very good unobtrusive service in very nice surroundings in the jewellery quarter. Place for a treat/special occasion. Service included.

We sat outside on a rainy day as we had our dog with us but it’s not a dog friendly resturant. The food is delicious but it’s quite pricey. We would definitely come back for special occasions.

Special chef's edit until 7pm with a choice of 4 different dishes (different prices for how many you choose), great value to taste different foods. I had the miso squid soup (delicious) and sashimi special, excellent seasoning for £25. Before, I took the bread basket, £6, for makerel paté and tamara. Service nice, attractive surroundings.

The Better Half Pub is a charming tavern located near Hove's promenade, offering a cozy and eccentric atmosphere. The pub features classic English dishes, including Sunday roast events, and a variety of drinks such as locally brewed ales, beers, selected wines, and craft cocktails. With its unpretentious vibe and pet-friendly environment, it has become a favorite among locals who enjoy mingling with other dog owners while savoring posh pub grub.
Had eaten here before but outside in the courtyard. This time we were booked for the Sunday roast. Wow superb quality and presentation. Which was only exceeded by the taste of each piece of food. Would I recommend this. In a heart beat. Another great reason to visit my son and DIL in Hove.

We came here for the roast dinner and ordered the pork belly and nut roast. The pork belly was amazing however, the nut roast was slightly overcooked and solid on the inside. The staff were super helpful and took care of half the bill for the nut roast and then stopped serving it to the rest of the customers as they didn’t want to serve a sub par item. Great food, even better service.

I had a wonderful experience at Better Half Pub today! The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious, definitely one of the best in Brighton and Hove, with perfectly cooked meat, crispy roast potatoes, and flavorful gravy. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were super friendly. A special shoutout to the chef, who kindly came over to chat with us and made sure our beef was cooked exactly to our liking. I’ll definitely be coming back for more 🙂

We had the most wonderful Sunday roast and evening here, as a big group (11 people) we were struggling to find anywhere that would take us but the better half were very happy to accommodate, letting us pre-order food. The roast dinners were all fantastic, the service was super friendly and lovely, and we just had a brilliant time there all together. Will definitely be coming again!

I have been to the Better Half Pub a few times for food always had a great meal and service. Because of having some special memories here we decided to book the pub to celebrate my husband's life after his funeral service. Simon was very helpful, always super quick to respond and answered all of my questions. They even closed the pub to the public for a few hours which was an extra special touch while we all gathered to share stories and enjoy the food prepared for us. They also allowed us to play our own music to make it even more personal. We were able to make a few small changes to the buffet options (halloumi sticks were extremely popular!) and there was more than enough food for everyone. Thank you so much to Simon and the team at The Better Half Pub for your help with everything during a difficult time.

We’ve been to The Better Half a number of times now—regularly for their incredible Sunday roast and occasionally during the week for a burger and pint—and every visit has been spot-on. The quality of the food and service has always been high, and recently, the Sunday roast has been even better than before… honestly one of the best in Brighton. The staff are consistently friendly, professional, and attentive across the board. On a recent visit, one of the kitchen team recognised us, had a quick chat, and made us feel really welcome, just one example of the warm and personal service here. It’s always a pleasure coming back to The Better Half. Great food, lovely atmosphere, and a genuinely kind, hardworking team. Highly recommended.

The Joker in Brighton, located at Preston Circus, is a lively pub known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings. The venue features a brick-lined space with a tin ceiling, creating a unique ambiance. With an upstairs cocktail lounge and games room, as well as a recently unveiled roof terrace, The Joker offers various spaces for patrons to enjoy. Great pub experience with some tasty grub. I had their Korean Kimchi crispy chicken thigh sandwich which just as delicious as it was messy... Definitely 3 napkin minimum. Staff were friendly and attentive. All in all happy we dropped in for lunch.

We recently hired the upstairs for our wedding reception and it was absolutely brilliant, a night i will never forget. The staff on hand were really helpful and nothing was too much of an ask. The communication over email was great, I always got a quick response answering any queries i had. I was able to check in a few days before and see if we could decorate the room the night before if it wasn’t booked, which we could and the staff then were also very helpful. The food came out at 8 as discussed - we ordered the platter for 40 people (we had around 80 guests but a lot ate before they came and the 40ppl platter was plenty!) - and we had so many compliments on the food! It was served on the pool table which meant it didn’t take up any space in the main room which we wanted to dance in etc. Me being the bride of course didn’t prioritise eating because i was too busy yapping and dancing😂 so i’ll definitely be back to try some of the chicken wings our guests enjoyed so much! We also bought a few of the beer buckets they offer which went down a treat, it’s a good deal for if you want some beers available for your guests when they arrive! We asked for a non alcoholic version as well as i myself and a few of my guests don’t drink and the non alcoholic option was really nice🤗 We were able to hire a DJ who used the jokers sound system to play the music as it was all set up and had good volume/sound. I don’t know much about how that all works lol but our DJ was very happy with the set up! Although the outside terrace connected to the pool room is still open to the public when you book upstairs, it was still mostly filled with our guests, i think once the public would realise there was a wedding happening up there they preferred to go back downstairs, so we basically had the terrace to ourselves all night. We had some rain but because the terrace was covered so well it stayed dry enough to sit out there comfortably. Having the three separate rooms (pool room, bar room & main room with stage) was actually really beneficial. It meant anyone who didn’t fancy dancing or wanted to chat in a bit of a quieter setting could go into the pool room where it was less hectic. Good for parents/grandparents who might find all the partying a bit much. We used balloonwise for balloons as recommended by the joker and then brought along a load of our own decorations to put up. The rooms looked great. There was a slight miscommunication as we were supposed to have the upstairs bar open from 6 but it opened at 7, the way the staff and management handled this was brilliant. They made sure that I was not penalised for if the minimum spend wasn’t met and they even refunded me the money i had paid for the extra hour. My guests were still able to order downstairs and it was all resolved very quickly. Mistakes happen, everyone is human, but they showed that they can rectify it right away. Overall, the staff really were great. You could tell their main priority was to make sure everyone had a good night. At the end of the night they even came to me to check i had fun and that everything went well. I am usually such a worrier, but this venue allowed me to sit back, dance and enjoy my night without having to worry about a thing. We were able to collect all our things the next day (don’t park outside in the loading bay we made this mistake, we thought we were safe for a few mins but there’s a camera there and you will get a £35 ticket!! oops😂 park further up the road.) Thank you Joker staff & management for ensuring we had such a wonderful wedding reception. All night our guests complimented the venue saying what a brilliant place for a party it is. Love, Caitlin & Callum ❤️

The Geese is a cozy pub located in the Hanover area of Brighton, known for its locally sourced British fare and classic Sunday roasts. While it has gained fame as the 'bangers and mash' pub, it also offers delicious Sunday roast options such as pork belly, beef rump, garlic and thyme roast chicken, beetroot and sweet potato wellington, and vegan sausage. The friendly atmosphere makes it a favorite among locals and students from nearby halls of residence.
Saturday lunch done right at The Geese! 🍽️ 🪿 Had a cracking Saturday lunch at The Geese for £19.95—sausage, mash & gravy, and let me tell you, it was worth every penny. I went for the Cumberland sausage cheesy mash, a side of greens and the star of the show: marmite gravy. Yes, you read that right—marmite gravy. Bold, comforting, and surprisingly delicious! To top it off, a half pint of Guinness made this lunch the perfect weekend treat. The atmosphere is cosy, the service is friendly, and I left feeling like I’d just found my new go-to spot for a hearty, satisfying meal. Props to the kitchen for the big flavours, and the team for making it all come together! Highly recommend if you’re after something hearty, a bit different, and totally delicious. Can’t wait to be back for round two!

We were 6 people that went for a Sunday Roast to The Geese after recommendations. We all rated it 6/10 or 5/10 overall. Definitely not the best roast in Brighton. The atmosphere of the pub itself is lovely. Would definitely go back for a drink but maybe not a roast. When we ordered no one told us there will be such a long wait, which often pubs and restaurants tell their customers to prepare them, but unfortunately nothing was said to us. We got Chicken, Beef, Lamb and the Veggie Wellington option. Out of those, the chicken and the beef were the best. We also got cauliflower and cheese and also broccoli and cheese which was burnt but it was then replaced and it was average tasting. Now all 6 of us agreed that there was a lack of veggies on our plates. The roasted potatoes somehow were both crispy and stale at the same time and a bit hard on the inside and the plates didn’t have an equal amount of potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding looked like a muffin and it was hard and cold when the food was served. The gravy on our plates was some of the tastiest gravy ever! Overall we waited almost an hour for our food. I wouldn’t mind if the communication from the staff was there as sometimes tasty things take time to get prepared but this was an average roast that confused me.

Food tasted like it was made a fortnight ago and the microwaved twice. Gravy tasted of powder and starch. Chicken and beef was dry and tough. Very loud place, but the atmosphere was still nice and the beer selection was good.

Everything about this place is great. Great vibe, very friendly staff and fantastic food. The bangers and mash were so fresh and delicious. The pork and chilli sausage had the perfect amount of spice to them. Might also be the best onion gravy I've ever eaten. It all went perfectly with their house lager. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

The Geese is one of the best pubs in Brighton. Always a great vibe — friendly staff, good tunes, and the food is unreal. Known for its Sausage and Mash throughout the week! But the Sunday roast is proper, huge portions and that gravy is something else. Decent mix of locals and visitors, never feels pretentious. Great range of beers too, and it’s just a nice spot to chill with mates. Always end up staying for “one more”. Can’t fault it — absolute Brighton classic.

It is one of the best meals we’ve had out in a long time (and we eat out a lot!). From the service, to the storytelling of the dishes and presentation, to the food itself - everything was impeccable. Super classy but also very down to earth a hard balance to strike. The team were all amazing, I but the pastry chef in particular was next level, I’ve really never had desserts like hers! Both her and head chef Dave came over for each course and explained what we were having and they were more than happy to chat and answer questions in depth. What a meal - I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone! The food is stunning but the team really make the experience - thank you all for such a fantastic evening!

My favourite Brighton restaurant. We’ve been about 5-6x and it’s always just the best. Today was for my birthday. The best food, and the best service by a long way. Always add the bread and don’t worry if there’s something on the menu you don’t normally like - it will taste completely different and amazing. It’s a different class to anywhere else in Brighton

An amazing experience. Beautiful birthday lunch. Superb value for money. Such high quality food, the bread is an absolute must the best bread you’ll ever have. Every dish was perfect served by the chefs telling you about the food. So much love and care. I was overjoyed to have a soufflé for desert. Such a wonderful treat. Every dish is a delight. I highly recommend. Pure class and quality. Thank you for my birthday macaron.

Had an incredible tasting menu here on Saturday. I hope this place gets a Star soon, it really deserves it. Staff were all lovely, really attentive but chilled and the food (and cocktails) were absolutely delicious. We sat at the kitchen counter and it was a great spot. Truly amazing food, lovely vibe, what a real treat.

We went to Furna last night for the set menu and had an absolutely amazing meal. Every course was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced — creative without being fussy. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel really special. Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Brighton — can’t wait to go back

What a wonderful dining experience. We had the pescatarian tasting menu and it was divine. So many flavours and you could see the time that had gone into each dish. We will be back.

We visited yesterday as a group of three friends and had such a fantastic experience. We shared a selection of starters, sides, and the sirloin steak. Everything was absolutely delicious. The octopus starter in particular was an explosion of flavour, a real taste-bud bomb! The service and ambience were spot on. Classy and stylish, yet wonderfully cosy and welcoming at the same time. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be coming back again. A big thank you to all the staff😊

I'm wary of restaurants that have 30+ mains, Furna had about 6 to choose from and each one was clearly well considered. Such delicious food, even the side potatoes were to die for, all prepared with real passion. They love what they do here and it shows. Really friendly and attentive staff too, fantastic experience.

Pub
Historical landmark
"The Hole in The Wall" is a fantastic addition to the micro-pub scene in Brighton. Tucked away from the bustling crowds, this former Queensbury Mews pub has been transformed into a stylish modern micro-style establishment. The knowledgeable bar staff are on hand to assist patrons in selecting from the impressive array of 12 keg beers/lagers and 3 cask ales, as well as cocktails.
The pub offers a great selection of beers and is a hidden gem in Brighton. I recommend the London Black. Similar to Guinness but much better IMO.
Andrew B — Google review
A hidden gem that you're unlikely just to happen to walk buy. It is only slightly bigger than its namesake, but has a great selection of beer and cider. Everyone is very friendly and it has a nice, relaxed, atmosphere.
Fuad T — Google review
This is a nice little place right off the Brighton sea front promenade and a short step from the Hilton Doubletree. There is an excellent selection of craft draft beers and the staff are very knowledgable about each one. The site is small ‘apparently formerly Brighton’s smallest pub’ but it’s cost and fun with limited seating. The back room is popular with dog owners. The toilets are tiny and dated.
Simon J — Google review
Hidden gem tucked away, which probably explains why it's not full of idiots 😉 Great selection of real ales and ciders, proper old fashioned boozer. No branded run of the mill stuff other than the spirits and soft drinks, so it ticks all the boxes for me. Highly recommend 😃

A fantastic range of both keg and cask. Beautiful building and more than reasonable price for brighton.

A hidden gem of Brighton. Very first time here and didn't disappoint for choosing this place. Love craft beer and they are the best one for serving craft. Such nice selection of beers from IPA, stout, Sour, neipa etc. Good choice for cask and keg. I like the atmosphere. Not very big place but have plenty of seats. Bar guy was cool. There were board games and such nice green house plants.

Located in Elder Place, UnBarred Brewery & Taproom is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts in East Sussex. The taproom offers a variety of up to 18 keg and cask beers, including inventive creations like Granola pale ale with peach, apricots, and honey. The brewery's large outdoor terrace provides an ideal setting to savor Neapolitan-style pizza from Fatto a Mano while enjoying tank-fresh beer straight from the source.
Super brewery - we did a tasting experience here which was top notch, very detailed and comprehensive but accessible for beginners. We tasted a wide variety of delicious beers. Nice atmosphere, great staff, and all very clean and tidy. You can order the awesome Fatto a Mano Neapolitan pizzas to the table here too.

I'm sure here is best brewery in Sussex. They created a fairly creative yet classical blend of beer. It reminds me of brewery in Belgium. Five stars are not enough for them🍺🍺

It’s pretty good, but they seem to have fallen victim to a lot of the “strong beer = good beer” vibe that’s taking over. Reasonable prices too. For whatever reason they never have any of their lagers/pilsners/etc in cans… It’s nice to be able to get the fatto a mano pizzas delivered speedily! Always a good atmosphere

Quality beers, incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff, all within a stunning taproom. We booked a table for a group of 12 of us on a Saturday eve - the staff took the time to welcome us and looked after us all evening.

Love this place. The beer is my favourite. The new Oyster stout is actually sublime. I was sceptical about it but when I had some bought for me Father’s Day, my eyes were opened. It’s one of the nicest, smoothest stouts I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot of stouts!! Even better is the fact you can get a pizza while you’re there. Best place to drink in my opinion.

The Set Restaurant in Brighton is a hidden gem known to off-duty chefs and local food enthusiasts. Housed within a boutique hotel adorned with artwork by local artists, this intimate restaurant offers a unique dining experience. With only 20 covers, the bohemian atmosphere sets the stage for an evening of culinary adventure. The open kitchen allows guests to observe as chefs Dan Kenny and Marcin craft inventive dishes from three set menus named One, Two, and Three.
Having a visit on 31 October 2024 for 14-Courses October Menu and a glass of red wine. The food is absolutely tasty containing the variety of umami flavors and techniques inspired from chefs’ experiences and takeaways. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a good vibe and staff is really kind. You won’t be disappointed by this great restaurant.

Wow, what a place and what an experience. We spent over 3 hours there last week with an 11 course menu and my wife had the wine pairing as well. The food was epic, wonderfully presented, so many amazing and different tastes. The service was great, really engaging and interested in explaining the food and then asking for and recieving feedback. Only thing they need to improve is letting people know the restaurant is open, we did laps of the local roads waiting for it to look open, finally tried the door and there were people inside 🤦🏻😂 A great place, now to save the pennies to be able to go back 👍🤙

A unique place / it’s also the place for Rust Cafe ( which is the brunch / breakfast place ) Both are run by different teams / chefs ! The set is the set menu restaurant which is max for 14-16 people per evening ! The pricing is £90/- a head without drinks ..! The food is very good/ delicious and eclectic..! A mix of global cuisine dishes from British/ south American / Indian and Korean cuisine…! All very well made and delicious..! Service is attentive / pre drinks are in the garden … / then you move to main restaurant which looks rusty / unique interiors / quite cool actually…! We had chicken tikka masala as one of the courses / a beautiful bread toasted over grill / and had amazing noodles dish too ! The chocolate miso dessert was just awesome to finish the meal 🍽️ Budget- Meal for 2 is easily £250 with some drinks ! Verdict 5/5 For further information and more pictures please visit my page on instagram @s50ush

Absolutely amazing food. The chocolate miso dessert is a life changer. Most of the items on the tasting menu are absolutely fantastic. And those with an eye for presentation will be pleased. Drinks flight is a nice treat but not necessary to enjoy the meal. You can always just order a bottle or two of wine for less money. Only reason I am giving 4 stars on atmosphere is because of the obnoxious hyper critical customer "wannabe food critic" sat behind us. I know this isn't the restaurant's fault, but just something to be aware of. Hats off to the chefs and server for great service and we will definitely be back again as long as the chocolate miso is on the menu.

Very flavorful and interesting dishes. Plating was mostly basic for this style of restraunt. Wine pairing was good. Most servers were good, but descrption of each plate felt like the servers were bored and reading from a script. On a few they, spoke so fast we and other tables near us could not understand them. We were expecting a little more for £275 meal.

Hand In Hand is a cozy corner pub with its own micro-brewery, offering local craft ales and hosting Sunday jazz sessions. Despite being the smallest brew-pub in Brighton, its vibrant yellow walls and red trimmings make it stand out. Situated at the beginning of lively Kemptown village, it provides a perfect escape from the bustling tourist-filled seafront. The pub has been around for over 150 years and still houses a brewery known as Hand Brew Co.
Solid gold. I’ve been going here on and off since 1986. My last visit was last Saturday and it was wonderful. Nicely busy. Friendly staff and happy customers. Just wish I knew the music that was being played. DJ really knew how to create a chilled vibe. This pub should be treasured for ever.

Popped in for a pint while on a trip, good atmosphere, great little pub, super friendly and chilled bar man, great selection of beer and that cozy unique pub feel with plenty going for it and going on. Thought the rules board was funny so took a picture. Thanks! 👍😁🍻

the barman tonight was very charming and overall i’d say he is on a positive upwards trajectory in his service career. he said his name was clark but obviously that must be a pseudonym. i don’t recommend the “hobnotto” he was trying to sell to us which comprised a small glass of homemade stout with a hobnob biscuit in it. it was vile. nonetheless, best pub in the universe.

My Uncle John Easton used to run this pub years ago he was a Stunt Man and the actors from brighton film studioes used to frequent the pub. I lived there as well as my Grandfather and little John. Ted Bushel another Stunt Man used to come he was a friend he lived across the road they had about 6 children. I wonder if the amazing bakery is still there just across the road and along a bit. And the 3 barristers who lived in the Mews they were friends one of them came to Scotland to visit and get a real scottish breakfast. Dame Flora Robinson who lived in the Mews was also a customer.
Evelyn F — Google review
Simply put...the worst experience I have had to endure in forty years of visiting public houses. I arrived in the pub to meet my two sons and my older son's girlfriend. I was a little late so they already had their drinks. The young chap behind the bar seemed completely disinterested, staring at his mobile phone whilst I waited to be served. Eventually I was served a pint after prompting him. Having finished our first round of drinks my younger son ordered another round. It was then that the rude barman said that I'd had enough to drink and that he wouldn't be serving me. I informed him I'd had one pint and nothing beforehand. For some reason he didn't believe me. This caused a little bit of an argument and eventually I left the pub having been completely embarrassed in front of my own kids by the rude barman. I then went to the Barley Mow where I was treated like a paying customer should be. A far nicer pub. The choice of ale is good at the Hand in Hand but the staff are rude and have no customer service skills whatsoever. An apology via this medium should be the bare minimum but I won't hold my breath.

Superb little pub offering a great choice of ales, with a real old fashioned atmosphere. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. Even had a lovely chinwag with the locals.

Wonderful staff and the usual patronage / regulars are all incredibly welcoming and full of humor. Not one macro brewery to be found. All local-ish microbrews from really incredible breweries. When I return to England, even if I'm staying far from Kemptown I'm definitely popping by Hand In Hand again. Amazing!!!

A great small bar that is fantastic for beer lovers as they serve a large range of beers most of which they need themselves. We went a week before Christmas, and the bar man was being very strict on covid measures which worked for me, and we chatted happily about the beers.

L'Atelier Du Vin Wine and Cocktail Bar is a delightful escape for those who appreciate a diverse drinking and dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for a casual glass of wine paired with light bites or an indulgent evening sampling unique cocktails from their charming bootlegger bar, this venue has it all. A standout feature is the option to purchase your own bottle of spirits, securely stored behind the bar for future visits—perfect for sharing moments with friends on leisurely Sundays.
Had a great time last Friday night. The team were thoughtful, knowledgeable, interesting and entertaining! I can't wait to go back and see which wine they can suggest from their extensive selection. They are also master cocktail makers! If you look at the pictures - that is the amazing choice of spirits! It would take me years to get though those! The team will make you feel very welcome! I'd suggest a 3pm start with friends and you'll be back time after time! Go on enjoy yourself! John Brightondrjohn.

This place is unique. It’s like a Parisian speakeasy. The staff are really smiley. They served good cocktails. The music was lovely, the chairs comfy. But it’s the atmosphere that makes it interesting and the decor makes you want to stay. On top of that the staff and the drinks are excellent.

One of my favourite cocktail bars in Brighton really let me down tonight when bringing some work colleagues. Wouldn’t serve one of team a lime & soda (only a giant bottle of sparkling water) all the cocktails were just atrocious- had to send the palomas back and we left half the margaritas. Cocktails take skill and you can’t charge people this amount of money for unbalanced, undrinkable drinks… likely won’t be back.
Vicki C — Google review
Really disappointed on my recent visit to this place. Used to be a favourite place for cocktails that I told people about. I wasn't drinking that evening and ordered a lime and soda. I was told by the wait staff that they '' didn't serve it'' (even though they had sparkling water and limes for margaritas). I felt pressured into buying a wine which is not cool. Won't be coming back.

My go-to bar when looking for cocktails or wine in a relaxed yet spirited environment! Very dog friendly. An absolutely beautifully designed cocktail bar with some food options in London Road Brighton, close to the Royal Pavilion. Beautifully designed and an amazing ambience if you just want a great place to relax. Nice and cozy Pub! We came here because it was one of the few only to have some screens, we kindly asked if we could watch the French Open before to book and the staff have been very accommodating, making sure to also save a table in front of one of the screens (: Not very busy, few tables on the ground floor and a restaurant on the top floor. NO Sunday Roast - which we were a bit disappointed of, but you can find several other options on the menu. Great Pie, definitely to try!🥧 😊

If you want to understand why the British will never give up their pubs, come to The Pump House. After a few pints, you begin to realise this is not just a place to drink – it’s a cathedral of social survival. The bar creaks with history, the locals banter with the kind of dark wit that would make a Swiss banker cry, and the beer flows with a consistency that puts Swiss train timetables to shame. We’re visiting from Switzerland, a country where drinking culture means sipping overpriced wine in silence while pretending to enjoy small talk. Back home, we’d never get away with this sort of camaraderie – the neighbours would call the police after the second laugh. Here, you raise your glass, you talk to strangers, and suddenly you belong. The Pump House is proof that civilisation doesn’t come from neutrality or punctuality – it comes from a proper pint, poured in the right glass, in a pub that smells of wood, history, and mild bad decisions. God save the pub. Switzerland, take notes – but you’ll never have the balls to pull it off.

Haven't been to the Pump House for a while. Since refurbishment. Plus point was the Harvey. Great pint. Apart from that not great at all. Guy who first served me was great, the girls not very friendly, pint served 75% full, if you pay for a pint, make it a glass full. The food was pretty awful, calamari tasted over cooked. Maybe revoked. Sticky chicken, was OK, beef brisket fries, looked like they had bisto over cheap chips. These are tiny, especially as about £8 each. 3 for £20.. Wasn't asked how it was even though calamari was left. Hopefully just a bad day.. Didn't seem to be busy with regulars as was.

Tucked away in the heart of Brighton, Bushy and Wilds is more than just a restaurant – it’s a slice of home, lovingly served by a family that clearly pours their heart into everything they do. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and a genuine smile that made us feel like old friends, not just customers. The atmosphere was unpretentious and cozy, with the sort of charm that only comes from a place run with love and pride. It’s clear that the family behind Bushy and Wilds cares deeply about the experience they offer – from the lovingly curated menu to the thoughtful presentation of each dish. Now, let’s talk about the food – simply divine. The calamari was tender and crisp, cooked to perfection with just the right balance of seasoning. The fried halloumi was golden and rich, served with a freshness that lifted the entire dish. And the fish and chips – well, they could rival any seaside classic. The batter was light and crispy, the fish flaky and fresh, and the chips were the kind that make you want to order a second portion just because. What truly sets Bushy and Wilds apart, though, is the feeling that you’re being looked after by a family that truly loves what they do. There’s a quiet joy in the way they serve, a warmth in their conversation, and a sincerity that’s all too rare these days. Whether you're a Brighton local or just passing through, do yourself a favour and stop by. This isn’t just a place to eat – it’s a place to feel welcomed, nourished, and reminded of the simple beauty of good food made by good people.

By far and away our most favourite pub in Brighton. A gem hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A Fuller's pub so always has a great offer served by welcoming professional staff. Disappointed after hearing good things about the food but perhaps it was an off day - the fish dish was dry, boney, no flavour and also weird presentation (see pics) however I will try again, perhaps the pies or battered fish which I’ve heard are very good. Great vibes tho, community feel, staff great.

Great little pub! One of the last surviving "old school" types of pub, remaining relatively unchanged for 50 years! Superb selection of beers - Fuller's and real ale, huge selection of gins and other spirits. Very good Sunday lunch menu, several specials and staple favourites. Fish and chips is excellent and the portions are very generous and well worth the cost. Seating in the dining area of the pub is in high demand and should be booked well in advance, but if it's possible to sit at another table elsewhere in the pub, food can be eaten there. Also some tables outside on the quiet side street. Because it's such a little pub, it doesn't take much to be crowded, but the atmosphere is great. Definitely a top favourite of mine in Brighton!

Very busy, at 6pm ordered fish and chips, was possibly the best fish I've ever had, the two barmaids, were exceptional, very welcoming and exceedingly professional, it was our pleasure to have been hosted by them. We will definitely return on our next visit.

Whether you choose to enjoy the stunning terrace or the lantern-lit interiors, this spot is perfect for those seeking great food and live music vibes. The inside bar hosts electronic music events, adding to the lively atmosphere. With cavernous interiors and a seafront terrace, Tempest offers delicious fare and fail-safe menu options from Bonito.
24/08/25 Great pub on the seafront first time there. There is a cool seating area inside and the is also seats outside by the beach. A lot going on and a great atmosphere. Staff were fantastic and really friendly. Prices were fair. It’s on the seafront so you will have to find a car park to park. Personally I would get the train walk down and have a drink Not tried the food so can’t comment

Tempest is an amazing pub! This review is purely in regards to their current kitchen Puffin. Not sure if I was unlucky but my £15 "roll" turned out to be a single slice of brioche bread folded in half with not a lot inside. It was tasty, but was pretty stingy portion size wise, especially for £15! It made me a bit sad.

Great food, excellent service and the location couldn't be closer to the beach! It's two very enthusiastic thumbs up from me!! 👍👍

The food looks gorgeous, size of the dishes is huge, however, the taste is average. Very instagrammable:) a big selection of beers, siders and other drinks. Great atmosphere by the sea, so I definitely recommend it for the vibes!

Whenever we go on vacation, I always seek out themed or unique dining establishments. I had made advanced reservations for an indoor table at Tempest in long for 6pm. We were promptly seated without any delay, and we used a QR code to order and pay, with a server delivering our food directly to our table. The menu options were limited, as were the drink choices, although it was evident that they had a full bar and could prepare any drink. The food was delicious and the ambiance was enjoyable. It's a fantastic spot to gather with friends for drinks, but I wouldn't necessarily return for a family dinner.

Earth & Stars is a laid-back pub in Brighton, offering a variety of organic lagers, ciders, and real ales. The Sunday roast menu features options like slow-braised pork belly and roasted cauliflower fritters. Additionally, there are vegan roast choices and delectable sides such as garlic confit potatoes. The pub is environmentally conscious with solar panels on the roof and a focus on serving organic beverages.
Wow. Earth & Stars under the new management of Alice and Fred has gone through the stratosphere. Fantastic atmosphere when we went and fabulous friendly service at the table and at the bar. The plant-based menu was launched on the weekend we were there. And what a great start. The starters of vegan pork belly and corn ribs were both juicy and tasty. The softest To-fish I have ever had and a delicious Tofu Larb salad that was out of this world. We will definitely be coming back (and want to try the Sunday Roast). We both thought this was one of the nicest pub experiences we have had in Brighton for a long, long time. Peanut-free environment too. Check it out!

Came here for a Sunday vegan roast and it was 10/10 and absolutely delicious. I had the pork belly and my wife had the nut roast, both were exceptionally well cooked and super tasty! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

The Earth & Stars has always been a favourite hang out of ours and now there are a new team at the helm it’s back on track which is really excellent news. The decor is bright and welcoming and music choices spot on. The plant based menu was really tasty and good value. I had pie and mash with minted peas and gravy which was a proper treat. Pie was delicious and all the trimmings were perfect. A generous amount of gravy was especially good. We also had some puddings which were all equally tasty. The vibes are excellent and we can take our dog who is also a fan of the place. Great selection of local beers and lovely chilled wine for me. Lots to choose from too. Looking forward to trying a roast soon and generally having a great place to relax and have fun now the vibes are back on point. You should deffo check it out even if you’re not a plant based eater do your bit for the planet and eat green you won’t be disappointed.

I've been going to The Earth & Stars for a number of years and the new managers have really lifted the place back to being a great pub. The bar and food offering is vegan friendly. Great selection of beers and the new kitchen menu is awesome. Last night I had the burger followed by cheesecake. Very tasty! The new team really makes you feel welcome and the decor has been brightened up a treat. Looking forward to my next visit very soon. Thoroughly recommended. x

Lovely hosts, vibrant atmosphere with a mixed crowd of young mothers and their babies, hipsters and cool old folk, plus randos who wobble in from the station. The Sunday roast is excellent and I am not a vegan. They are, their chef is and I am happy to have savoured, no, enjoyed their plant-based goodness.

Brilliant food and lovely service at what is becoming one of my favourite spots in town! I always liked the pub but the new managers have brought something very special, we were made to feel very welcome and loved the menu and a good spread of beers and wine to boot. Also great music playing! Looking forward to going back soon, cheers

Visited Earth and Stars Brighton on a busy Saturday night and was blown away by the service from Luke the barman. He quickly recommended a beer that suited my preferences perfectly and then prepared three amazing cocktails for me—an Old Fashioned, a Godfather, and a Spicy Margarita. Every drink was crafted with care and tasted fantastic. Luke’s attentiveness and expert recommendations really made my visit memorable. Excellent service and top-notch cocktails!

It offers a minimalist setting and serves simple yet high-quality brunch dishes, including classics like smoky beans on sourdough and vanilla French toast, as well as more unique options such as avocado toast with pomegranate and cured Chalkstream trout on toasted dark rye.
Beautiful interior and great food. The tumeric latte was really good and the staff were super friendly. The brioche breakfast was soft!

Nice, but not sure I’d go back. It’s a lovely space with kind service, and I enjoyed the experience overall—but for the price, it didn’t quite hit. The food was good, not great. With so many options in Brighton, I’m not sure it stands out enough to return. The biggest letdown was the matcha. I asked for it extra strong, paid £2 more, and could already tell by the pale color it wasn’t high quality. Watery, diluted, and disappointing. That said, the setting is charming and the vibe is nice—it just didn’t deliver enough to justify the price.
Joei C — Google review
Very cute place. Got strawberry matcha and butcher's breakfast. Butcher's breakfast was a bit too salty/peppered to my taste, but otherwise good. I'd mix up a bit more of fresh bits into it to balance it out. Wasn't crowded at all on a Friday morning, while a few other places nearby were packed.
Mila G — Google review
By rating this 3 star, I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy this. The presentation and design of this place is stunning, and I would highly recommend going if you’re looking to get a decent brunch. I just wasn’t overly impressed by the flavours or taste of the overall meal. It was all style really.
Jasmine K — Google review
We made a last-minute stop at this cute brunch spot tucked off the main street, and it did not disappoint. The service was so friendly, and the food came out quickly. I started with the matcha lime tonic, then we shared the eggs benedict and the veggie English breakfast... both were incredible! Every component was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. Would 10000% recommend!

14th September £100 total What’s in a name? The short answer is quite a lot. For reasons of happy personal circumstance it’s a question very much front of mind at the moment; I’ve been picking my way through the thorny thicket of negative onomastic association recently (a particular moniker forever reminding me of a particular Monica, for example) and contemplating the plausibility of nominative determinism (is a child with the name of an old lady destined to act like an old lady from birth?). So yes Bill, perhaps a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but that doesn’t mean that when Mich suggested dinner at Lost in the Lanes I was able to easily set aside my initial impression we’d be eating in a coffee shop. Because that’s what it sounds like it is. Even when I went online and looked at the menu and found evidence of proper cooking in the imaginative small plates there (see: salmon pastrami with gooseberry, samphire and peas), there was something inside me bracing itself for one of those ham and cheese toasties out of a plastic wrap. But I was quickly able to shed my slightly bizarre associative complex when we got there. Because it doesn’t look like a coffee shop - even though, mind-bendingly, it also is one - to the point I’m now wondering how I’d feel having a morning pastry in there. It looks modern and chic, with lots of open space, dried flowers and single bulbs on long wires hanging from wooden beams on the ceiling, a cut-out in the wall through to the kitchen - that kind of thing. And in the flesh the menu helped too, because there were about a million things on there I wanted to eat. We eschewed the large plates entirely, as much to save room for variety as any other reason, and before long there was no room for elbows on our little circular marble tabletop; in a bout of FOMO I kept calling the waitress back to add things to our order and rather than describe them all individually my overall reflection was this: sometimes sampling lots of little things can reflect worse on the standard of cooking than if we’d just gone olives-bread-starter-main. Comparison is, of course, the thief of joy, but when Mich and I are eating smorgasbords it’s absolutely in our nature to rank each dish against one another, and unavoidably there are those that don’t quite hit the spot as well as others. Negativity bias then perhaps leaves a feeling of lesser satisfaction than if the one big main had been served with the same quality as the average across a range of tasting plates. And there really was a range of quality in what we ate, I thought. The toursi tasted like the pickling process had sucked all the life and flavour out of the veg (and having figs in there was just weird), whereas the feta cigars and that first bite of bombette were perfect. There was a fair bit of middle-of-the-road stuff too. But then speaking of negativity bias, I ordered a cheesecake when I don’t usually order dessert, and… it just wasn’t one. It was a sort of chocolate mousse (with no mention of chocolate on the menu) layered on top of a bit of cream cheese, which I tried to scrape off and salvage, and no base. I left with that annoying feeling of unsatiated, unsatisfied fullness, and lost amongst that was any memory of the stuff Lost in the Lanes had done really well.

This place is a wonderful secret. Totally over the top decor and really friendly regulars and staff. The food is great, and today we had roast beef and roast chicken baguettes, with dipping gravy and a range of sides, we went for roast potatoes. They even warm the plates. The place was fully booked so we ate at the bar. £8, for a full baguette, wonderful roast meat. I suggest you book for their excellent Sunday roasts.
Paul M — Google review
In my opinion, a bit bland, the potatoes were overdone and you only get three of them gravy was bland and had to pay extra for more gravy. It’s the second time I’ve gone there now and it’s not been a good experience so I won’t be going there for a long time, they had not been open long that day, and the potatoes were just too hard and tasted oil and fatty.. seems like there needs a little bit of care with the cooking with a bit of love and for £22 for a mixed roast, plus paying extra for gravy just seems a little expensive as well.

The venue provides banquet-style seating in a stylish hall serving food from breakfast to dinner, as well as a spacious al fresco terrace. This was my first visit here (I had only had a brief look around on a few days earlier) and it was great. You can order very easily from the different kitchens using a QR code from your table and enjoy the sea views and music. My food from temaki (Japanese kitchen) was delicious and presented beautifully. Good prices for the quality. Lovely friendly staff.

Had a really great time at Shelter hall. They managed to squeeze us in when they were absolutely packed. Also had this lovely foggy view of west pier from our table. Food was great and came rather quick. Didn’t take a picture of it all as it was so nice I forgot to. Really like the fact you have such wide variety of different places to select food room. We went for a steak, Parmesan fries and a sea bream dish. Was all very well done. Staff were really lovely and accommodating, asked for extra plates and got multiple from each place we ordered from. So be wary making requests on the app as it goes separate to each place you order a dish from. Just ask the bar staff or specify the place you’d like an extra plate or whatever you request is. Definitely would recommend and will be attending again.

What a great concept that celebrates West Sussex local food and offers so many delicious options. We went on a Friday around 1pm and walked right in, though I imagine it gets busy so booking is probably a good idea. The Wick Inn is a charming establishment in Hove, offering a unique experience with its traditional pub on the ground floor and a 1920s-themed speakeasy bar on the upper floor. The Speakeasy exudes an ambiance reminiscent of the prohibition era, featuring jazz music, candlelit tables, and post-war artwork. There's fantastic live jazz every Wednesday evening from 8pm, making it a regular highlight for music lovers. The night features an impressive lineup of talented artists from across the UK, bringing a fresh and exciting energy each week. At the heart of it all is the outstanding house band, led by the brilliant Chris Coull on trumpet, whose musicianship and presence set a high standard. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, with great acoustics and a real sense of connection between the performers and the audience. A must-visit venue for anyone who appreciates quality live jazz.

What could be better than a Thursday night with a fantastic jazz band and great Thai red curry at the Wick Inn? It was our first time in Brighton and we did not know what to expect. The Wick Inn exceeded our expectations for the evening. It's a historic inn with a cozy vibe, and upstairs there was an excellent jazz trio playing live music. The live jazz is presented at least once a week at the Wick Inn, though usually on Wednesdays. Afterward, we dug into the Thai red curry, which was delicious with just the right balance of coconut, curry paste and heat We will be back!.

First time visiting and trying the roast - it was looovely - and the service is amazing. The pub had a good, cosy atmosphere. Definitely recommend:) The only one thing I would suggest is getting some nice wine selection on the menu, but the rest is 5stars!

Fantastic roast, really lovely pub. The staff greeted us with such a warm welcome, it was as though they were greeting someone they knew (this was the first time we've been). It was really busy by 1pm, so would highly recommend booking! Both had the pork belly, it just melted in your mouth. We had the stuffing balls and pigs in blankets as extras and these were fantastic too. Good amount of gravy too which is a big thing for me! Will definitely be going back again!
Malika N — Google review
I normally never finish my roast, well…today was different! I left an empty plate. I think this was possibly one of the best roasts of my life. It was beautiful and absolutely delicious. We also ordered some extra pigs in blanket and stuffing balls. Omg! The stuffing balls were to die for. I can highly recommend this pub for family Sunday roast. The staff are also very nice and friendly. We will definitely be back again soon ☺️

Pub
Nestled in the heart of Brighton, The Great Eastern is a charming little pub that has garnered a loyal following among locals and visitors alike. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, this cozy spot invites patrons to enjoy an impressive selection of craft beers and whiskeys, as it focuses solely on drinks without a kitchen. Music lovers will appreciate the eclectic tunes that fill the air daily, with record spinners taking over on weekends to deliver everything from blues to rock 'n' roll.
It's one of my favourite cosy little tuck aways of the city, great selection of whiskey, always a new IPA to try. Great music and / or djs every day ! The size of this small traditional pub, only goes to show its popularity with the punters ... as they often overflow into the street regardless of indoor space, only adding to the atmosphere of this belter of a pub.
Gordy B — Google review
Awesome little bar with a great friendly atmosphere. We stopped here for a couple of drinks where the barmaid was kinda enough to choose a drink for me that was not a fruity IPA. She chose well for me. This place has various music/DJ events happening each week. It's sometimes hard to get a table to yourself but people seems willing to share and be sociable. Very inclusive bar with all sorts of people. Love it. Will return one day. Decor is cool and candlelit in the evenings.
Tellus 1 — Google review
A fantastic pub with a choice of craft beers and traditional ales alike. The place has a climate of a good old school pub. No matter whether you're up for a call ale or a modern brew you'll find something for yourself. A perfect place to get a pint or two. The staff is very friendly. There's live music on weekend evenings.
Pawel B — Google review
It's been 10 years since I had been in this pub and it's not changed at all. It's a small pub right in the heart of the city- perfect if you want to soak up the atmosphere of Brighton on a sunny weekend or have drinks on a dark evening. Good selection of drinks. However seating is limited, and it's not a great place for a quiet chat - music very loud!
James — Google review
Didn't have food but the ales were fab, old school reggae and dub DJ was playing some lovely vintage vinyls and the artwork is amazing in there
Badger M — Google review
Great traditional pub but it is best at the weekend. Live DJs on Friday Saturday and Sunday and always a great atmosphere in the evening and the decour is really nice with the fairy lights. Staff are friendly. The prices are perhaps on par with other pubs in the area (£5.20 for a pint of ale but £6.70 for an IPA). Worth it for the music and atmosphere though.
Michael S — Google review
One of Brightons friendliest & best pubs. Great gluten free beer options, good music & really enjoyable atmosphere.

Enjoyed this pub - didn't eat. Has turntables supplying the music which as a record collector was nice to see. Good pints keenly priced for Brighton. Very clean facilities and very friendly and attentive staff. Top atmosphere and the locals were gave a warm welcome.

Really great place - loved the vibe, service and food! We felt very welcomed, they accommodated us with the food order, as we only wanted to eat a little. We had padrón peppers, freshly baked bread and butter, and baba ghanoush - everything was very delicious. Set menu available - which we definitely going to try next time when we back in Brighton. They had some unfamiliar wines, and the lady kindly offered to try it before ordering, which helped us a lot. Wine was on point! Really recommend this place if you in the area.

Nice small plates restaurant, serving new interesting takes on classic Mediterranean food. Some plates are excellent, some not so much but overall great quality. Busy service on Friday with only two people serving so was either slow or plates came out quickly! Think they need more staff. Would come back and try seasonal menu. Recommend.

My friend and I had dinner here a couple of days ago and had a lovely experience! We shared 5 plates between us and left feeling full. The fried chicken and aubergine were my personal favourites, the bread was also delicious. Great selection of wines too. Very lovely service as well.

Gorgeous place and honestly completely unexpected. Had a few friends down to visit and wanted to find a cute place for us to have a nice meal and genuinely this place was such a good find. I loved the set menu and the fact you get so much variety. (Honestly we ran out of room on the table by the end but in all honesty - you can never have enough food) Wine menu was fabulous, service was great, couldn't really ask for more.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Brighton and Hove, but won't be visiting again until the old style menu comes back. Already too many Mexican restaurants in town and the old style sharing plates were so good. I hope this new style is not permanent.

Booked Med for a celebratory lunch & all 15 of my guests were absolutely blown away. The food was exciting & innovative, with massive attention to detail (the smoked butter!). Exquisite flavours (hoisin pork!) & stunning presentation (so fresh & colourful). Cocktails were just as amazing. Huge thank you to Jack for promptly organising a banqueting menu for us, with special care to provide alternatives for those with dietary requirements. Lively boozer inside and out. Went for a daytime drink with my daughter and her boyfriend before going to Shelter Hall. If you eat outside beware of dive bombing seagulls, they liked it so I guess the food must be good.

Came here on Friday for lunch of 6 for a celebration. We had reserved a table and were given a good spot with ample room. There is the option of QR codes or table service which worked out well as one party ordered the drinks on the app and then we ordered the food through our waiter (who was incredibly friendly and had great humour). Plenty of drink options including cocktails and the food has enough so there is something for everyone. I recommend the half chicken with sweet potato fries. All portions are huge and are so reasonable given this, and the location of the pub. Food and drinks came quickly and the pub was lovely. There is also outdoor seating if preferred. Great find in Brighton.

Stopped for a drink. I had been in here a few times in years gone past; it's central so a good meeting point at the start of an evening. Today's visit was fine but drinks were expensive and it was so cold inside - not something I can say I have ever complained about in a pub. Generally fine, but unremarkable. Brighton has a lot of other options.
James — Google review
The venue / vibe is great out on the street; but this was one of the worst points of Guinness I’ve had in a long time. Really bitter, something definitely wrong with either the barrel or the taps, didn’t even finish the pint.

We booked a table for 10 of us to celebrate a birthday. There were no starters or coffee available and only ice cream for pudding, which we declined. Having said that, our mains were very good. The service was quick and the servers very nice and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this for an occasion such as a birthday, but for a general meal it was quite good as long as you are not expecting fine dining.

A great Irish pub to meet a friend for a pint, listen to some authentic Irish live music. Always a vibe there. Most recently there was a great street party for St Paddy’s day

We stopped in for some food and had the pizza, it was really good! Fresh, tasty, and cooked just right. No complaints about the kitchen at all. Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to the food. The staff seemed more focused on flirting with each other than actually serving customers. Took far too long to get a drink, and it felt like we were interrupting something every time we approached the bar. Great pizza, but the service needs sorting.

I really enjoy the Monday live folk music, staff are friendly and there is a good selection of drinks which are rotated regularly. Musicians are amazing!

I am very sorry to do this, but if you pay £50 for pizzas that were never received, what choice have you got? Management completely absolved themselves of responsibility. Once the wrong order was placed, that was that, and as a result I am £50 out of pocket. Put a really bad taste in my our mouths after a whole day spending money with the establishment.

With its tiled facade and outdoor seating, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The menu features classic dishes such as fish 'n' chips and hearty steak meals, perfect for enjoying with friends over a few pints. As one of the city's oldest pubs, The Victory embraces its heritage while maintaining an innovative spirit.
Where do I start! I love going to the Victory Inn for the awesome variety of food. The presentation is always spot on one of those meals where you think, “I’m going to smash this” but it’s so filling you end up boxing some up to take home. Honestly, it’s so good you’ll be glad you did because it makes an amazing next day lunch. Top quality food, well seasoned meats you’d never want it to go to waste. In the pics: Lebanese Shawarma Wrap with fries Nachos loaded with cheese, guac, salsa, plus added Chicken Shawarma Beef Sizzler (literally sizzling away on a hot day there was steam coming off it!) Highly recommend trying the Shawarma wrap, it’s a solid 10/10. I’ll definitely be going back and bringing friends. It’s bang in the center of Brighton, perfect for a great meal before a night out. The Sunday roast. Unbelievable. The photo says it all.

Ordered their fish chips and cheese burger to share. The fish was nick nicely done with crispy batter coating and moist cooked fish outside. The accompanying chips were huge and flavorful, but the mushy peas are a tad dry. Taste ok eaten with the tartar sauce that served with the fish. The cheese burger was tasty and juicy. Tried their crafted beer, refreshing, and went well with the food. I would recommend this place.

Called in here for a quick drink whilst visiting Brighton last week, the reason we called in here, this pub was the only place in town that we came across that had a dog bowl outside. So we paid back our kindness & enjoyed a drink outside in the sun. The bar staff on that day were very friendly & accommodating & our drinks were reasonably priced considering where the pub is located. We would definitely recommend this pub if you're in the area. Lovely little pub set in the centre of Brighton. The decor makes it feel comfortable. A great choice of beers and wines. A good food menu is available. I was here a few months ago and prior to attending a match and was misreable. But the red haired lady and the brown haired lady behind the bar improved my mood . They appear to have good local regulars also. There was a man in a cap by the bar and a black man in a suit and flat cap who kept me thoroughly entertained and lifted me. Both seem to know music. When back from Norway will return. P.S Thank you for the tippy toe mr suit man. I would have missed my flight without your help.

A blonde lady behind the bar maybe the owner as she was not doing much I asked for a drink she made another one and instead of apologising and change it for what I asked she was willing to add some thing in it? The Gingerman is a well-established and intimate modern European restaurant in Brighton, offering fixed-price 2 or 3-course seasonal menus. The menu features a variety of dishes with a hint of Brighton star 64 Degrees, such as mackerel with pickled cucumber and breaded oyster on a muffin, as well as duck liver and heart accompanied by duck nugget with miso glaze and pear.
I had the best night at The Gingerman and now consider it one of the best dining experiences in Brighton. The food was to die for. Though not cheap (except a ridiculously good value prawn to start), it is well worth a visit on a special occasion. The staff and service and ambience created an unforgettable evening that will be difficult to replicate. To start I had snacks salmon tacos and a grilled prawn. Despite the salmon tacos being delicious, the prawn stole the show, being meaty and sweet, and for £3.50 with the seaweed Alioli, I cannot complain. For starters, the bbq squid was the best looking dish of the night, stunning, with perfectly cooked squid, a sauce maybe a touch too sweet, but interesting textures and bold flavours. For mains, the lamb saddle could’ve been cut with a butter knife, paired with some simple but lovely veg, a jus made from the belly and some majorly crispy 100-layer chips, and you’re on to a real winner. The puddings were also solid, and a great way to end a great meal!

My wife and I dined at Gingerman Restaurant, one of our favorite spots over the past few years. This visit marked our fourth time there. While the waitress was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and kind—the overall food experience fell short. Specifically the main course, a steak meal, was underwhelming and lacked flavor. Considering we spent £180, we left feeling disappointed by the food.

Perfect meal at The Gingerman this weekend, with a varied, surprisingly reasonably priced (given the quality), Sunday lunch menu that delivered in every way. The skate wing was perfectly cooked, the roast beef was beautifully tender, and the starters were creative and boasted some really interesting flavour combinations. The service was superb too, friendly, knowledgable, and easygoing. Looking forward to trying their normal menu asap.

Delightful gem of a place in Brighton. Was recommended it by family and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a fairly small place (although can cater for groups) so would advise you book. Had bread to start with a delicious butter. Next round was fish tacos and salted cod fritters. Followed by sea bass for two and I also had some of the lamb. The seabass was perfectly cooked and plenty of it for two. Special shout outs to the complexity and depth of the sauce. The samphire complemented it all perfectly. The lamb looked great and was cooked well. Soft and tender. A soft chew. At one point I had a part with a bit of fat and I almost melted into my seat. So tasty and full of flavour. Service was polite and friendly. I would definitely go again

Arguably the best food I’ve had in Brighton in such a lovely intimate little place. Sam, the front of house/manager/bartender was incredible, doing so much so effortlessly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Also, BYOB on Sundays with a corkage - no brainer! Will be back as many times as I possibly can, cheers!

Very expensive and quite intense the way bookings are all at the same time so, you feel you need to get your order in quick. Only stubby cans of locally made beer for £6 a pop.... Bathrooms were excellent. So the food was good - excellent. Menu wasn't explained enough but we worked it out. I think I would recommend it for quality food although, out bill was £170 for 2 without wine!

For the second consecutive year, my wife and I have returned here for a celebration meal. The tasting menu and paired wines are excellent and a real exploration of flavours and textures. As with any tasting menu at a reputable establishment, it's not necessarily cheap, but in my mind, a worthy treat. Food, presentation, and service, all excellent! Well done guys 👏.

We recently reserved a great space inside the pub for a joint birthday party and the guys running the place (Natasha and Ollie) were brilliant!! The whole booking process was easy, the communication with regards to a few items that needed planning was great and the buffet they provided really was excellent. In fact there were loads of compliments about the food by our guests!! Generally speaking, they have a really nice selection beers which are constantly changing and I've also had some food from the regular menu recently which was really good. The moules mariniere are a highlight!! Will definitely be my regular when I fancy a nice beer and some great food. The playlist is always pretty good too which makes for a nice vibe. So to sum it up, it's a great local pub with nice beers, great food, nice bar staff and also a great place to have a celebration when the time comes.

Had a really delicious meal here tonight. I had the guinea fowl supreme and my friend had the venison burger, and they were both fantastic. Perfectly cooked meat, tender poultry with crispy skin, and excellent sides. The chef happened to be in the dining area and he was very friendly and helped us decide to be a little more adventurous and order the game dishes, which we didn't regret! The service was friendly all around, and there was also a really good selection of non-alcoholic drinks that weren't just soft drinks or juice. There was also a fixed-price menu available with 3 courses for £20 which looked like a great option too. Would definitely come back!

This is a really terrific neighbourhood pub, with lovely staff and a welcoming interior. Plenty of outdoor seating for sunny evenings, too ☀️ I’ve been here occasionally just for a pint (they have a really good selection of beer!) but most recently for a Sunday Roast. The food was fantastic - the bacon wrapped stuffing that came with the chicken was sooo tasty, and the staff gladly brought out extra gravy to help us tackle the enormous yorkshire puddings! Loved the generous wedge of hispi cabbage, too. The Ancient Mariner hosts many activities throughout the week, from sea shanty evenings, to pints ‘n’ pottery, to live jazz. Looking forward to checking them out in the near future! ✨

Pretty cool neighborhood spot. Friendly staff. Food was very good! I asked if the ribs were tender, and was answered yes but they were fall off the bone delicious! My husband had the duck, a very unique way of serving it and it was also delicious. Also enjoyed live music.

Regular customer there. The staff are always friendly, and the food is good. I really like the way they try a lot of different things, pub quizzes, Irish trad night etc. They’re really trying to create a good atmosphere. They do a lovely steak and frites night.

Mrs Fitzherbert's, named after Maria Fitzherbert, the love interest of George IV, is a vibrant and centrally located bar in Brighton. The decor exudes a biker bar vibe and offers enticing cocktail deals throughout the week. With an impressive outdoor seating area and a hidden rooftop terrace called the Lost Gardens of Fitzherbert, this place is perfect for any occasion.
I didn’t come here for food but me and my friends came here for drink and the bar staff Mason, Jayden, hood. Where super helpful and made sure that the table was clean and the atmosphere they gave off was so nice and made everyone feel welcome. They were super polite and efficient. I will be back !!!

Funky bar in the centre of town. Serving cocktails, beers etc and Greek style food. Nice outdoor seating area which mean you can soak up the atmosphere of Brighton. 2 for £13 on some cocktails which was good. Managed to get a table quite easily outside on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Indoor decor quite quirky. Bathrooms downstairs and ok for basement bathrooms. Pretty basic. Didnt eat so cannot comment but other people dinners looked nice. Recommend the bramble cocktail 👌

Great place but unfortunately been coming here for years few years ago the roast was amazing but clearly changed chefs the food was ok but always hit and miss for Sunday roast

Nice pub with great location and heated outdoor seating which is great for colder days. Haven’t really tried the food here but some sort of Greek menu is available at the moment. The prices are average around 6£ for a pint and they do 2 for 13£ cocktails all week.

Had a fantastic time at this bar! The vibe was just right and full of good energy. A special shoutout to Chris (behind the bar) - he was absolutely lovely, really friendly, and made the whole experience even better. He even came over specially when we asked for service, which we really appreciated. One of the best spots to hang out in brighton. Can’t wait to come back!

Fountainhead is a cozy pub in Brighton with a relaxed atmosphere, featuring exposed brickwork and wood tables. It offers a good selection of draught beers, including local ales and unique options like Blue Moon and Grolsch Weizen. The pub also has big screens for sports events and serves Lee's Gourmet Burger menu. Visitors can enjoy delicious comfort food such as vegan roast dinners on Sundays, which are highly praised for their intense flavors.
We stopped here as the menu sounded exciting! The burger is up there as one of the best I’ve ever had! Finest quality beef, flavours were incredible. I had the Blue my mind, it certainly did. We also had oysters, frickles, very dirty fries (omg) all fricking delicious! Get your mouths round their burgers! Great pub and excellent choice of beers….highly recommend

Just passing by for catching my train and i had plenty of time so popped in for a punt. It was bit quiet so plenty of seats for us. Nice option for keg beer as i love it. Nice atmosphere through and good friendly service. Hope I’ll be back again when in Brighton.

Fountainhead is an absolutely lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff who are warm and welcoming and really make this a venue I’d love to revisit time and time again. The food was also amazing, courtesy of the team at Boysterous Burgers - the chicken salt fries and Korean Cauliflower wings are absolutely unreal!

The best spot for Gluten free food in Brighton! The bartender Connor was extra vigilant and went the extra mile to make sure our meals were coeliac friendly (also made me an excellent spicy mango margarita) . We had the Oh For Clucks Sake roast burger and the Blue My Mind burger along with some cauliflower and broccoli cheese dirty spuds. The only problem was that the food was so good, we forgot to take any photos!l We will definitely be back and again thanks to Connor and Milo in the kitchen for taking extra care with our food and making it taste so damn good!

Pub
"The Heart & Hand" is a unique and friendly pub located in North Street, offering a nostalgic experience with its art deco stained glass windows and green tiles. It stands out from the bustling North Laine area and is known for its welcoming atmosphere and regular patrons. The pub hosts regular musical performances by local talents, making it a great choice for those with a creative inclination. Additionally, visitors can explore the Brighton Toy and Model Museum nearby, which has been open since 1991.
Cosy & quirky little pub with helpful and friendly staff. Decent selection of beer. Free jukebox. We popped in here for a quick drink on Sunday afternoon, they played great tunes. Table service only, which was excellent and ensures that every customer gets a seat.

Stopped in for a post-dinner drink and had a great experience. I was treated to a fresh pint of Toadlicker Pale Ale from Hand Brew Co—crisp, hoppy, and really hit the spot. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, and the service was excellent. A perfect way to wind down the evening!

Loved this little pub. Table service which was unusual but the service was excellent. Friendly staff, good music on the juke box. Really enjoyed our evening here

Don’t go to this pub if you want a nice, pleasant atmosphere with a good pint! There were 3 of us on a very hot, sunny day wanting a nice pint & we were the only customers! The Longmans pump beer wasn’t working, neither was a cleaner as it was very grubby. The pub has SEATING ONLY along with CARD ONLY which is why it was so empty. 2 couples came & went because of the above. When we questioned the reasons for the seating & card only rules, we were told to get out. The landlord started swearing because I mentioned that 2 couples had already left, then his wife came out asking why we were complaining about her pub! On telling her that the carpet was very grubby & needed a good clean, she gave us a tirade of swearing abuse & demanded that we get out of her pub! She then had the cheek to tell us off for swearing…. NONE OF US HAD! DON’T GO THERE as they are so rude & offensive! There are some lovely pubs in Brighton but this isn’t one of them!!!!! It doesn’t deserve even a 1*

I like this pub except for some of the staff. Earlier this afternoon there was a guy on who was brilliant and friendly, this evening 2 staff who basically aren't bothered, one of them, a guy, was on last time I came, a couple of months ago, was on then and obviously hanging and isn't much better today. Sort your staff or lose custom
Sharon A — Google review
Nice pub let down by an obnoxious landlady. We popped in for a drink and the landlady was openly rude to her staff infront of customer's for making an aperol in the RIGHT glass, seems her staff know more than her. Bar staff don't get paid enough to deal with these sort of people.

If you end up here on Sunday evening, well ... You will have a quite nice experience. Sundays is jazz, from 8pm till 11pm. The crowd is mixed up, artistically, I would say.... Beers are magnificent (unfiltered, crafted with care, and heavy in hops!). The decorations are interesting and the carpet... Well, the carpet is fantastic ...

Sat outside on one of tables that was on the street on a monday afternoon. Were sat for ten minutes before we were apprached by an incredibly rude woman demanding what we wanted. Came across more like she wanted us to leave opposed to actually ordering. She was very hostile through ordering, especially when one of the group just wanted tap water. All the glasses arrived dirty and the ice had foreign particles in it. Would not recommend after this experience.
