Burnt Orange is a stylish restaurant located in The Lanes, Brighton. It offers a monthly tasting menu with global provisions, cocktails, and wine. The interior features burnished orange color notes mixed with exposed flint walls, creating a pleasant ambiance. The restaurant is known for its creative Sunday brunches with live DJs and early evening cocktails. The menu focuses on grilled, slow-cooked, and smoked specialties designed for sharing.
Booked here for a work dinner as a group of 5 while we were stopping over in Brighton. It was incredible! The food was amazing and definitely a highlight of the tour we were doing! Staff were excellent and the food was incredible. Served on smaller plates, we thought it mightn’t be enough but with the level of flavours and richness of each dish, everyone was full. I will definitely go back next time I’m in Brighton.

The Burnt Orange absolutely lived up to the hype. From start to finish the experience was outstanding. The food was next level – every dish had immense flavour, perfectly balanced and cooked with real care. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the menu, because nothing felt standard or predictable, it all had a twist that made it exciting. The restaurant itself is stunning. Beautifully decorated, with a warm and stylish vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay for hours. It manages to feel both polished and relaxed at the same time. The staff deserve a mention too. They were exceptional, super friendly, attentive without hovering, and just really easy to get along with. It honestly felt like being looked after by your mates, which made the night even more enjoyable. And the cocktails… wow!! Every one I tried was mind blowing, both in presentation and taste. Easily some of the best I’ve had in Brighton.

You wonder if its going to be as good as you expect. The experience was a birthday gift from my niece . My wife and I went with moderate expectations but we were really happy with the whole thing. I loved the range of food and the care the staff took to make sure everything was perfect. The multiple dishes provided, solved my normal problem of what to choose on the menu and wanting to try a bit of everything. Just go with a few friends and have a great time
John T — Google review
Such a lovely evening at Burnt orange we had the experience menu which was amazing no thought required just sit and enjoy! The cocktails are not for the faint hearted we recommend the bread and butter old fashioned and the roasted pineapple colada. We finished off with the custard tart boom!! The staff here were all welcoming and friendly and the restaurant has such a good vibe we can’t wait to go back x
Jo W — Google review
Everything was perfect! The staff were attentive, fun, knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. The decor and ambience was great, we had a fab table, the food was totally delicious, so much flavour, everything was different but all went together so well and the cocktails were expertly made… and as excellent as that all was it was actually pretty reasonable cost wise too so we were extremely happy customers!
Emma R — Google review
10/10, came for my birthday and every staff member made such an effort to ensure we had the best experience! So friendly and fun, food was the best food we’ve ever had, so many amazing flavours and unique things we’d not tried before. Also very good with allergies. We will definitely be back

Keep this place secret. Never tell anyone it exists. The best food in Brighton. Beautiful, tasty, well balanced, surprising. A big plus : the cocktail team, a band of magicians. Make your booking before you arrive in Brighton. And visit the love shop in the narrow street behind BO.
Yves M — Google review
Tried to book a table here on my last trip two years ago and I did not succeed. Fast forward two years, I booked a while in advance and just had one of the most stunning dinner experiences of my life. Fusion Middle Eastern influenced food, incredible cocktails all matched by equally as good, if not better service from Leo and Andy and the rest of the team and all at very competitive prices. Well done! We will surely be back.

Modern European restaurant
Wild Flor exudes French bistro chic with its gilded mirrors, classic wine posters, wooden tables, and banquette seating. The restaurant is run by a trio of Hove locals with extensive hospitality experience and offers a menu focused on food and wine. The kitchen operates on a 'good old-fashioned carte' system and sources seasonal ingredients from the chef's allotment.
What an absolutely fantastic place to celebrate an anniversary! ❤️ Wild Flor is just gorgeous - from the friendly greeting at the start of the evening, all the way through to settling the bill, we enjoyed every moment of our time here. The restaurant has a really calming, cosy ambience to it. The staff are so friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and they had even written us a card wishing us a happy anniversary!! So thoughtful 🥹 There is an extensive wine list and a great selection of cocktails - we really enjoyed our glasses of the verdinho and rosé, and the Todoli Margarita we paired with our pudding was zesty, fresh and incredibly strong!! You have been warned 😆 The star of the show at Wild Flor is, of course, the food. We kicked off with the ink battered squid, which was expertly partnered with fennel, saffron, and blood orange. I haven’t had anything like this before - the combination was a bit mind-blowing!! All starters come with delicious sourdough bread and butter, too. We used ours to mop up the saffron sauce 😋 We chose the bavette steak and Chalk Stream trout for our mains, and shared the confit potato side dish, which was crispy and incredibly moreish. The steak was cooked to perfection. If I was being hyper-critical, I would say that the wilted spinach (which somehow seemed to have been cooked very well but still retained its crunch - impressive) was intensely garlic flavoured. I am a massive garlic fan, so not an issue - but even to me it was a little overpowering! My partner really enjoyed the Chalk Stream trout dish - I tried a piece and it was perfectly cooked. We finished up with the aforementioned Margarita and the limequat & coconut ‘key lime pie’. This pudding was sensational - creamy, zesty, and melt-in-the-mouth. We shared the pudding but I wish I had ordered my own one to be honest - I could have eaten 10 😅 Thanks so much for a wonderful evening, Wild Flor - we can’t wait to come back and try many more menus!! ✨

The very BEST! What an awesome experience, the food was absolutely to die for, highly recommend the linguine & crab! The wine was stunning & the staff were brilliant & so friendly. This is our second visit & both times were absolutely perfect. We can’t wait to visit again, if you’re in Brighton do not miss a trip to Wild Flor!
Sam U — Google review
Me and my partner went here after being recommended by a chef I work with and it was fabulous! I tried the lobster special and it was the best lobster I’ve ever had, the potato salad and bisque was insane and everything was ultimately tasty. We also tried the beef croquettes, oysters and prawns for starters which were all delicious and perfectly prepared, my partner absolutely adored the chocolate pot for dessert as well. The wine list is perfect, I had the cheapest vinho verde as wanted to spend more on my food and it was still fantastic. Only thing I wouldn’t recommend was the margarita but that’s just my personal preference (no salt rim, not on the rocks so if you like that then go for it!) Our servers were great too, extremely good service thank you guys!
Iona B — Google review
We had a great meal at Wild Flor. The oysters were super fresh, the prawns were smoky and delicious with plenty of butter and the baked crab was rich and comforting with a crisp topping. Great wine too - will definitely be back!
Jamal ( — Google review
Had the spring 3 course menu for £25 which was great value, added oysters which were from Dorset, gorgeously plump and flavoursome. Delicious and interesting food combinations simply presented and unfussy. Highly recommend the Mutton sausage (pictured). Good service, nice warming interiors. Enjoyed the wines which were recommended. Very solid 4s across the board but lacked a bit of wow factor to push into the 5*
Charlie P — Google review
Exceptional restaurant. The set menu was fantastic value. Decor is delightful, ingredients are fresh & the service was top notch. Our server has worked there for a few years and she was very knowledgeable on the menu items.
Alex T — Google review
A thoroughly disappointing and expensive dinner out. The tomato tart was some of the worst pastry we've ever had, dry and absolutely flavourless. The £28 poached trout was really under-seasoned and uninspiring. The starter was strange and expensive and was made with cheap and boring salad leaves. The waitress that evening clearly could tell we weren't content with our food, and to be fair asked clearly cared about that too. The bar staff were also very friendly. I just could never recommend this place to eat, there are so many more creative and flavourful options close by. I'm sorry that it's a challenge as a local restaurant right now but it's just not acceptable to pair this food at this price point. It was about £120-140 in the end for really underwhelming food which, frankly, with the competition is why I'd say go somewhere else.
Joe L — Google review
My husband and I had dinner at Wild Flor and the set 2 course menu. From start to finish the evening was outstanding. Food was exceptional - perfectly flavoured and cooked - trout melted in the mouth and the bavette was mouthwatering. Service was superb and thoughtful, with warmth and humour. Music at just the right level to be in the background, lovely calm feel but not too quiet. We paid £55 each for bread, a starter, main, two sides, a drink and gratuity and felt it was excellent value for the quality of the food. We loved it and will be back.

Nestled in the vibrant North Laine area of Brighton, Fatto a Mano North Laine is a delightful pizzeria that captures the lively spirit of its surroundings. With its inviting floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor seating, it's an ideal spot for those who love to people-watch while indulging in delicious authentic Neapolitan pizza.
All the food was great and the staff super friendly. The panzanella Salad was really tasty and the pizza bread was perfect. I would highly recommend this place. We'll be back when we're in town.

We tried the Capricciosa, which was decent . However, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Pancetta Porcini and Gorgonzola pizza with a white base—the taste and quality of the ingredients were spot on. The only room for improvement is the oven adjustment. The dough had a nice char on the sides but was a bit uncooked on the bottom. The service and staff were great.

Had the most AMAZING meal here while on holiday with my family. The staff were so warm and friendly, the food came out really fast, and honestly it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Would recommend the white pizzas and the mushroom and truffle dip 😉 All of us had a great time and we will definitely be returning. Thank you!!

Ate here on a whim, left feeling like a new person. This pizza is phenomenal, the crust was pillow soft, and every bite sent me to a different plane of existence. I will be thinking about this pizza for a long time. Some of the best in England by far.

Fantastic as always. Our fave food spot in Brighton. Wonderful staff and incredible food, fast service and fresh pizza.

The food was delicious. The Margherita burrata was amazing, cheesy and the sauce was bussin. The service was also fantastic. Didn't know what to order and he gave some incredible suggestions. Pizza came quite quick straight out the oven. The atmosphere was incredible. Amazing place to chill and eat pizza while chatting.

We visited Fatto a Mano whilst in Brighton and were so happy with the food and service! It was rather busy but we booked a table a couple hours beforehand and got a table. The pizzas were wonderful, dough fluffy and with quality ingredients. Starter and desserts were delicious too, definitely would have the ‘nduja lasagna fritta again.
Marie G — Google review
I wanted to share a little story from Easter — a bit of a late post, but definitely worth mentioning. We ordered two pizzas for ourselves. However, my son wanted one of his own. I told him we were only getting two to share and that I wasn’t planning to buy an extra. To my surprise, the staff brought out a separate pizza just for him — without charging us anything extra. Even when I insisted on paying, they simply smiled and refused. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture, and it really touched me. In a world where everything comes with a price tag, their generosity truly stood out. Thank you for making our Easter special with not just great pizza, but genuine hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

The Chilli Pickle is a vibrant Indian restaurant located on Jubilee Street in Brighton. It has gained a reputation for serving exciting and authentic Indian cuisine, earning its place as one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring street food-inspired dishes, regional curries, and grand thalis. With its bright and expansive premises, The Chilli Pickle welcomes diners with an explosion of color and tantalizing aromas.
Probably my favourite Indian restaurant. Hadn't been in several years but made the trip to Brighton today simply because we missed it. Food is still excellent and the customer service was brilliant. Toilets actually quite pleasant too. Love it there!
Anna D — Google review
This was my first visit. Restaurant is well prep and given a good old and new mix continental interior. You will probably hear Indian 60s/70s/80s songs. It makes this place unique and good with experience. My table were given two rice when I only ordered one. I reminded and they took one back. The service boy brought up some dishes and also once a drink which was not ordered. Food is overpriced all the main dishes. The portion sizes are also small. Be careful, this places prices are very high and you probably eat same food elsewhere less than 50% of price. Wasn’t mentioned service charges at beginning Toilets available To find a parking 🅿️

Chilli Pickle has earned a permanent spot on our list of favourite Brighton restaurants. Their lunch-time thali is a celebration of bold spices and fresh ingredients, delivering a perfectly balanced feast in every tray. The new venue tucked away in the Lanes is equally impressive. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or settling in for an evening meal, this spot never disappoints.
Vb — Google review
Was really excited to go back to chilli pickle after they moved to their new location. The place was very busy the Friday night we went and had a really great atmosphere. Service was friendly and really good. I was just a little disappointed in the food compared to what I'd had previously when I visited. We started with samosas and chicken wings. The pastry was so thick on samosa that it was really dry, the deep fried wings coating was just falling off and was not very tasty. The mains were better, especially the ox tail curry which was superb and the chicken byriani was also good. The black lentil dish though was very stodgy nothing like the same dish you get at the permit rooms which is smooth and unctuous. So overall disappointing as I know this place has been much much better from a food perspective. I think I might need to come back and try again, maybe it was just an off day.
Elliot D — Google review
Our first visit to Chilli Pickle on Saturday.Despite being extremely busy the service was excellent and very friendly. We had a lovely table on the terrace and the food was absolutely amazing. Definitely will return when next in The Lanes. Highly Recommend
Gary S — Google review
The Oxtail Madras was fantastic and falls off the bone. Two of the naans were soft and a nice addition. The duck curry had lovely flavour. Loved the boozy Lassi cocktail. Thanks to the wonderful team who supported us with our reservation and order on the night!
Zara K — Google review
Long story short: £84 for mediocre food for 2 people. Slow service. Save your money and go elsewhere. We came in on a Saturday, near the end of lunch service. It was a little busy but nowhere near full. Service was sluggish and food took around 40 minutes to arrive. We ordered sambal wings (£9 for 3), aubergine curry (£18 set lunch) and lamb chops (£25 for 3), plus a mango margarita and a negroni. Wings: crazily overpriced and underwhelming. Sambal flavour was barely there, and 3 wings is a strange portion to share. Aubergine curry: stodgy sauce, little depth of flavour. Lamb chops: the biggest disappointment. Overcooked to grey in the middle. Sad because you can tell it was good quality meat - still somewhat soft despite overcooked. Spices didn’t come through, and the sizzler plate left them dry (maybe rethink if you can't get the cooking right?). At £25, that’s unforgivable. By the time the food arrived, we’d already been waiting too long to send them back. In hindsight, we should have, but heyho you live and learn. Overall, a very expensive miss.
Yasemin K — Google review
Had a great experience!! Our waiter George was very attentive, was never without a drink! The boozy lassi was a hit with the table, and the veggie set menu was so rich and tasty, and a lot of food!

Small plates restaurant
Modern British restaurant
Restaurant
The Flint House, part of Ben McKellar's Gingerman group, is an intimate and stylish restaurant that opened in April 2019. It offers a variety of small plates featuring meat, fish, and veggie options along with cocktails and wine.
The Flint House is an absolute gem — the first restaurant I’ve been to in a long time where every single box is ticked with full marks. The service is faultless: friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced. The drinks list is superb, with thoughtful cocktails and an excellent wine selection. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour (highly recommended Sunday lunch). And the ambience? Stylish, relaxed, and effortlessly cool. A 10/10 across the board — highly recommended.
James A — Google review
This is a nice restaurant experience, with great service and an interesting menu. We opted for the chefs menu, with wine flight, given it included several of the dishes we were interested in. We sat at the pass to appreciate the experience. The food was good, technically well done with some considered flavours. The portions were probably a little bigger than we required, but the ingredients were of a high standard and the finished product a pleasing result. The setting was nice but not as intimate as other restaurants we have tried. In summary, a nice experience but not necessarily one to repeat.
Sean C — Google review
10/10 evening at the Flinthouse, we cannot rate highly enough! Our waiter Jeff absolutely made the experience, he was so friendly and such a fun part of our evening! Food was fantastic, some of the best!

We went to the Flint House for the first time today, I’ve been wanting to go there for ages! Our server was Zain, who was the epitome of charm, professionalism & friendliness mixed into one person! The food was fab & I loved my Lychee cocktail too! Sitting up on the terrace was very special. Would highly recommend a visit!
Debbie ( — Google review
This restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away from the main town centre. The décor blends industrial with classy, offering a spacious upstairs seating area and a terrace for summer dining. Run by the Gingerman group (I remember visiting the Ginger Pig back in 2012), it was just as good. The food was of a consistently good standard, both in quality and presentation. Service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The ambience was relaxed, yet dishes arrived promptly without feeling rushed. With its choice of à la carte small plates or full set menus (with or without wine pairings), I can see this place becoming very popular. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here and would happily return—and recommend it to others.
Jo T — Google review
We’ve been wanting to visit for a while, overall it didn’t disappoint. Most of the dishes are absolutely incredible, especially the lamb shoulder, red mullet, rump steak, pork loin, oysters and prawns. Highly recommend the mash and green bean salad as sides. The confit potatoes looked fantastic but could have had a little more seasoning. The mains are a little on the small side but when you are ordering sides to accompany them nobody went hungry! I was slightly disappointed by the puddings which sounded delicious on paper but didn’t really live up to expectation. The drinks were excellent, lovely martini menu and we had a fantastic bottle of primitivo. Service overall was good, our server was helpful and friendly, one of the staff members seemed to had forgotten how to smile but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Flint House!
Charlie P — Google review
There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Lanes with excellent reviews. We chose here due to the small plates seeming to priced fairly reasonably. We were not disappointed the steak for £20 was a normal main course size and probably the best steak I've ever had. The mackerel was gorgeous and lamb was incredibly tender. The fact they offer carafes of wine also makes it possible to have a nice wine without blowing the budget.

Best Italian restaurant I’ve experienced in over 10 years living in the UK! 🇮🇹 The pasta is perfectly al dente, the bistecca cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. And the star of the show? The special dessert, affogato al caramello salato is simply the migliore treat to enjoy even when you think you’re too full. It somehow risveglia il corpo and leaves you smiling 👌 A special grazie mille to our wonderful waitress Alesha, whose friendly service and ospitalità made the whole evening even more memorable 🙌🏼

We went for dinner at Cin Cin, and it was delicious! A lovely atmosphere, with the restaurant packed for the whole time we were there. As a starter my wife and I shared the sourdough focaccia with balsamic and olive oil. The bread was warm, and the balsamic was wonderfully tart. For mains I had the pork rib eye, with braised cannellini beans and agrodolce. It was wonderfully cooked - soft, tender, pork that was perfectly balanced with the sweet/sour agrodulce and the rich, meaty, braising sauce from the cannellini beans. My wife ordered the pappardelle with roasted squash and crispy sage from the Vegan menu, she said it was delicious and the crispy sage was the star of the show. For dessert we went for a special - brioche bread and butter pudding with apple compote and chantilly. It was so good - warm, rich, sweet, and spiced. We paired the dessert with the house-made limoncello which was absolutely ridiculous. The flavour took a few seconds to hit, but it just exploded with sweet and sour lemon that was so fun and delicious. Would absolutely recommend - great food, great service, and well priced for the quality you get.

What a wonderful place. We were lucky enough to sit at the chefs table and the head chef and his team were very friendly and happy to chat to us. It’s fantastic what they produced in a small space which was calm the whole evening. The food was amazing, staff friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. We both loved it so much. Well done to a great team and if we were local we would definitely come back. Thanks so much x

Palmito is a new addition to Brighton's dining scene, having opened in mid-2022. The restaurant offers an intriguing fusion of Ecuadorian and Indian cuisine, with a menu that changes daily. The chefs, who previously worked at the Chilli Pickle in the city center, bring their South Indian and Ecuadorian heritage to create a spice-driven menu cooked on a charcoal grill.
Everything was just AMAZING here! Place was nice and cosy. Service was friendly, dishes were huge on flavours and very delicious, including the Pistachio Tiramisu. Menu changes but the plates we got were the Padron Pepper, Grilled Scallop, Prawn Tacos, Curry Mussels, Oyster Mushroom, Grilled Corn. Can’t wait to be back!

We had the most wonderful experience at Palmito! From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious , every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the staff were amazing: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Palmito strikes the perfect balance between incredible food and exceptional service. I can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

Oh my god this meal !!!! THIS WAS SOO GOOD !!! Every bite was a dream but the best thing (which was so good I ate all of it before I could get a picture of) was their flatbread! Best bite of the night by far I would return just to eat that again. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was soo cozy and although it was so busy it still felt a private enough to enjoy a date (which is what I was on 😽) IM COMING BACK FOR U FLATBREAD !!!!!

Hands down the best restaurant in Brighton (I grew up here and go to new restaurants constantly!) Every single plate we got, and we got a lot, was absolutely delicious. The service and the ambiance were also perfect, could not fault my experience and I cannot wait to return ❤️

Food was delicious - the freshly made soft taco shells, on top of the airy fried cod and delicious small plates really made for a great experience! Customer service was also very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back!

Every dish amazing, hard to pick a favourite! Beautiful beetroot starter. Delicious King Prawns in Ecuadorian curry. Moist and moreish cornbread. Cod tacos were deliciously creamy and the goat tacos packed with flavour. Outstanding service, almost like a family welcome. Better than the food I’ve had in Mexico City. Can’t wait to go back to Palmito it’s perfection!

We had been waiting for a year to come to Palmito and it absolutely did not disappoint!! We had a cosy table for two and were immediately attended to by the lovely staff. Starting off with a Mezcalita cocktail we had stuffed padron peppers, Harissa cauliflower and avocado and green bean salad to start. Followed by an incredible cod taco, prawns, lamb skewer and birria tacos to die for. The cheapest white wine on the menu paired perfectly, and we topped off the evening with a rich pistachio tiramisu. We waddled back to the hotel and I am writing this from my bed, content beyond belief.

Lost in the Lanes is a contemporary café located in the vibrant Brighton Lanes. It offers a minimalist setting and serves simple yet high-quality brunch dishes, including classics like smoky beans on sourdough and vanilla French toast, as well as more unique options such as avocado toast with pomegranate and cured Chalkstream trout on toasted dark rye.
Beautiful interior and great food. The tumeric latte was really good and the staff were super friendly. The brioche breakfast was soft!

Nice, but not sure I’d go back. It’s a lovely space with kind service, and I enjoyed the experience overall—but for the price, it didn’t quite hit. The food was good, not great. With so many options in Brighton, I’m not sure it stands out enough to return. The biggest letdown was the matcha. I asked for it extra strong, paid £2 more, and could already tell by the pale color it wasn’t high quality. Watery, diluted, and disappointing. That said, the setting is charming and the vibe is nice—it just didn’t deliver enough to justify the price.

Very cute place. Got strawberry matcha and butcher's breakfast. Butcher's breakfast was a bit too salty/peppered to my taste, but otherwise good. I'd mix up a bit more of fresh bits into it to balance it out. Wasn't crowded at all on a Friday morning, while a few other places nearby were packed.

By rating this 3 star, I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy this. The presentation and design of this place is stunning, and I would highly recommend going if you’re looking to get a decent brunch. I just wasn’t overly impressed by the flavours or taste of the overall meal. It was all style really.

We made a last-minute stop at this cute brunch spot tucked off the main street, and it did not disappoint. The service was so friendly, and the food came out quickly. I started with the matcha lime tonic, then we shared the eggs benedict and the veggie English breakfast... both were incredible! Every component was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. Would 10000% recommend!

14th September £100 total What’s in a name? The short answer is quite a lot. For reasons of happy personal circumstance it’s a question very much front of mind at the moment; I’ve been picking my way through the thorny thicket of negative onomastic association recently (a particular moniker forever reminding me of a particular Monica, for example) and contemplating the plausibility of nominative determinism (is a child with the name of an old lady destined to act like an old lady from birth?). So yes Bill, perhaps a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but that doesn’t mean that when Mich suggested dinner at Lost in the Lanes I was able to easily set aside my initial impression we’d be eating in a coffee shop. Because that’s what it sounds like it is. Even when I went online and looked at the menu and found evidence of proper cooking in the imaginative small plates there (see: salmon pastrami with gooseberry, samphire and peas), there was something inside me bracing itself for one of those ham and cheese toasties out of a plastic wrap. But I was quickly able to shed my slightly bizarre associative complex when we got there. Because it doesn’t look like a coffee shop - even though, mind-bendingly, it also is one - to the point I’m now wondering how I’d feel having a morning pastry in there. It looks modern and chic, with lots of open space, dried flowers and single bulbs on long wires hanging from wooden beams on the ceiling, a cut-out in the wall through to the kitchen - that kind of thing. And in the flesh the menu helped too, because there were about a million things on there I wanted to eat. We eschewed the large plates entirely, as much to save room for variety as any other reason, and before long there was no room for elbows on our little circular marble tabletop; in a bout of FOMO I kept calling the waitress back to add things to our order and rather than describe them all individually my overall reflection was this: sometimes sampling lots of little things can reflect worse on the standard of cooking than if we’d just gone olives-bread-starter-main. Comparison is, of course, the thief of joy, but when Mich and I are eating smorgasbords it’s absolutely in our nature to rank each dish against one another, and unavoidably there are those that don’t quite hit the spot as well as others. Negativity bias then perhaps leaves a feeling of lesser satisfaction than if the one big main had been served with the same quality as the average across a range of tasting plates. And there really was a range of quality in what we ate, I thought. The toursi tasted like the pickling process had sucked all the life and flavour out of the veg (and having figs in there was just weird), whereas the feta cigars and that first bite of bombette were perfect. There was a fair bit of middle-of-the-road stuff too. But then speaking of negativity bias, I ordered a cheesecake when I don’t usually order dessert, and… it just wasn’t one. It was a sort of chocolate mousse (with no mention of chocolate on the menu) layered on top of a bit of cream cheese, which I tried to scrape off and salvage, and no base. I left with that annoying feeling of unsatiated, unsatisfied fullness, and lost amongst that was any memory of the stuff Lost in the Lanes had done really well.

Great Sunday menu. Super friendly staff even in a busy time. We were 3 people and we didn’t have any special requirements but they checked allergies with us. Food was served quickly and it was delicious. It is on the pricier side but the quality is there, and the portions are filling nonetheless. We spent around £80 for 3 people for 3 drinks, 3 plates and 2 slices of cake. The hot drink selection is very nice and tasty!

OM life what a wonderful restaurant, by far the best food in Brighton. I applaud this place for its incredible food, hospitality & setting. First of all loved the fact one of us could order a pescatarian tasting menu & one meat. The call back to confirm was much appreciated (it’s the little things that make a difference) The staff all delightful, taking the time to be personable as well as knowledgeable (a balance that a lot of fine dining don’t get right). So before we get to the food, cocktail was delicious, wine not exorbitant & the main event of the food…wonderful, considered & beautifully prepared. This was our first time here but definitely won’t be our last. This restaurant is deservedly mentioned in the Michelin guide. Totally delicious

Sensational. Visited for an anniversary dinner, and we were hugely impressed by the quality of the food. I'm not always a fan of tasting menus, but it was perfectly paced and sized. I love that they're not trying to do anything too weird and wacky with their flavours. The menu consists of incredibly high quality ingredients, accurately seasoned, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with other flavours. The chalk stream trout, beef, and chocolate dishes will stay with me for a very long time. Really liked the wine list as well. Some rarer and slightly obscure options, with a great selection by the glass. V v highly recommended.

Absolutely phenomenal! We had the spring tasting menu for our first wedding anniversary and every course was incredible. How this place does not have a star yet amazes me but it can't be far away. Had dinner at Etch on Friday and was blown away by the food. Would highly recommend this restaurant. We had the 7 course tasting menu with Wine Flight. Whilst the wines were good, none of them were noteworthy. 6 out of the 7 dishes were amazing, with only the 1 Guinea dish falling a little under par. Overall was very impressed with the restaurant and would go again.

Having been to Etch before this time we decided on a guest chef evening. We had been to Glynn’s restaurant in Birmingham so it was the perfect pairing. Superb evening began with cocktails in the downstairs cocktail lounge before being escorted to our table. Chefs introduced each course and it was nice to hear both Stephen and Glynn talking about their dishes. High quality ingredients, superb presentation all led to the most exquisite meal. Each dish beautifully styled, tasting divine, perfectly balanced. We didn’t do the wine flight just a couple of glasses of our favourite Nyetimber English Sparkling. Was such a nice evening and both chefs came out throughout the evening to chat to tables and to say goodbye at the end.

Absolutely fantastic vegetarian tasting menu with non-alcoholic drinks pairings. So much thought had gone into the drinks and they really enhanced the experience. Service was friendly and attentive without being stuffy. We didn’t feel that the vegetarian dishes were an after thought. We had a wonderful evening!

Picture perfect dishes that taste just as good as they look! This is the second time we have been here and we would definitely come back. The work that goes into creating each plate is evident in the end result, an absolutely delicious tasting adventure. Excellent service and attention to detail. I would also recommend a pre dinner cocktail in the bar.

I have to admit I never thought of Brighton as a gastronomic spot, nor did I ever wondered what laid beyond the last beachfront food cabana. I even just realised there was a 360 tower attraction 😅 So imagine my surprise when I got invited to dine at etch, a restaurant in the residential area - 10 min drive from the train station. The place, its vibe, the hidden bar and its unusual non-alcoholic menu - LOVED the wine - are worth the visit, even from London! I had no reason to doubt the place, so I didn't check the reviews beforehand. And I'm glad I didn't because the meal was a complete experience that I could enjoy without expectations and with the genuine anticipation the 6-courses discovery menu warranted! I should apologise for whoever is reading this for ruining it for you. You can still close the page. Well since you're still reading, just know that the staff is the most adorable and knowledgeable, the decor is contemporary without being over the top - special mention for the suspensions and the Japanese toilets - and every single dish is a delight. If you get to have a view on the kitchen - with the rather good looking Chef George - that's like a surprise act at a concert. Still here? You seem very curious, so I'm adding a sneakpeek, but really, just go and experience etch the only way it deserves, for yourself with all your senses open.

Nestled in the heart of Brighton, Bonsai Plant Kitchen is a delightful culinary venture brought to life by the talented duo, Dom Sheriff and Amy Bennett. Their journey began at the renowned vegetarian spot, Food for Friends, where their shared passion for vegan cuisine blossomed. With Amy's expertise as a head pastry chef and Dom's experience leading kitchens, they crafted an imaginative menu that draws inspiration from South East Asian flavors.
This was our second visit to Bonsai. It was as SENSATIONAL as the first time. Unbelievable food and incredible flavours. Me and my husband enjoyed every single bite. We will definitely come back when we visit Brighton again. Service was friendly and the price for the quality of the food is very good. My personal favourite dish was the cauliflower, my husband really was blown away by the “pork” spring rolls. He was so impressed he ordered another portion! Absolutely delicious!

The staff were really nice, the environment was enjoyable- the music was good and the tables felt casual yet still private. The grilled cabbage with seaweed butter was delicious! My personal favourite bite of the night. Their own brand scorpion beer was also really delicious and paired well with all of the food we had. This is the actually second time eating at bonsai (first time was 2 years ago) and unfortunately it has not stood well to the test of time. The first time I ate here I was blown away and this time I did not have that same ‘wow’ feeling. The majority of the food was good, but did not excel. The kimchi pancakes in particular were quite flavourless. However, I still think this is a nice place to go for a meal and I would still go back and be pleased! The ordering system is very interactive which is interesting, the staff are lovely and attentive, and the food is still good!

Amazing food and was a perfect highlight of my day! Two of us came here for lunch and we got four/five sharing plates which is the perfect amount. Everything was delicious but would recommend in particular: the sea bream and the Hanoi spring roll. The sea bream was the best vegan fish I’ve ever had 🤌

Nothing to fault! From the start our waiter was so friendly and helpful, then the food was a delicious selection of flavours but not overwhelming. I'm not vegan but I would eat here over many meat/fish serving restaurants. Cocktails and mocktails were really good and offered a slightly different take on the standard. We ordered 7 dishes and a desert to share, which was plenty for the two of us. Good value for money.

A phenomenal dining experience. The server was very friendly and the ambience was just right for some Asian small plates. The food came out fairly quickly which is always appreciated. We ordered 6 dishes, and our highlights were the karaage mushroom (delightfully citrusy, spicy and crisp) and the aubergine skewer (intense umami and delightfully smoky). I really appreciated that the menu wasn’t heavy on the vegan meat alternatives and used a lot of produce too! This is a must visit for any vegan, and any Asian cuisine enthusiast.

A very enjoyable meal. Great atmosphere, very good service and interesting tasty vegan/vegetarian food. Saturday evening there was a queue to get a table, I would recommend booking. It was interesting to watch the food being cooked and prepared on the pass. Calm, efficient and with real care. I would give this eating experience a highly recommended rating.

wonderful spot. 2nd visit with my mum on Friday and we both agreed that it is some of the best food we’ve ever eaten. My mum is a vegetarian and generally doesn’t get much enjoyment out of eating in restaurants due to the options being so limited. However, at Bonsai, she has free range to order what she likes and actually enjoy the food. The staff were lovely and very attentive and the restaurant it self has a great atmosphere and vibe. This restaurant will always be a go to for us and I have already recommended it to friends (one of which visited last week and had an excellent experience also).

Stepping into this lovely restaurant in Brighton, a place brought to life by Dom's vision, is a truly wonderful experience. It's clear that the passion behind the food shines through in every detail, from the incredible dishes to the welcoming atmosphere. We honestly loved everything we tried! The dishes are so flavourful and creative. Every bite was a delight, and the whole experience was just perfect from start to finish. You can tell how much care goes into everything. I can't recommend this place enough. We'll be back again soon. A special thanks to Urte for looking after us!

Furna's atmospheric interiors feature reclaimed wood furniture and offer counter seating with views of the open kitchen. Additionally, there's a private dining room and an extensive wine cellar boasting world and low-intervention wines.
Wow. This is hands down the best restaurant in Brighton. It’s no wonder they have won a multitude of awards recently and I’ll be shocked if they don’t get a star some time soon! It is one of the best meals we’ve had out in a long time (and we eat out a lot!). From the service, to the storytelling of the dishes and presentation, to the food itself - everything was impeccable. Super classy but also very down to earth a hard balance to strike. The team were all amazing, I but the pastry chef in particular was next level, I’ve really never had desserts like hers! Both her and head chef Dave came over for each course and explained what we were having and they were more than happy to chat and answer questions in depth. What a meal - I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone! The food is stunning but the team really make the experience - thank you all for such a fantastic evening!

My favourite Brighton restaurant. We’ve been about 5-6x and it’s always just the best. Today was for my birthday. The best food, and the best service by a long way. Such a fantastic restaurant, the last time I visited was about 15 years ago when I lived in Brighton , so I had to stop by for lunch while I was in the area and it was every bit as good as I remember. If only you would open up in Manchester 🙏🏼. Exceptional, fresh produce , great staff, I love everything about this place.

An absolute gem in Brighton! The seafood was out of this world every bite fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The oysters and scallops? Perfection. Jessica W — Google review
The rating should be 4.5 rather than 4. The only reason for it not being 5 was the portion of my fish dish as explained in the review below. The overall experience was outstanding. My friends and I decided to to go to Brighton for lunch. As I am Gluten Free it takes ages to find Gluten Free restaurants. I finally narrowed down 2 Sushi restaurants. When we reached there 1 of the 3 of us decided they didn't feel like Sushi 😐 and preferred local sea food being in Brighton; which in hindsight was a good call as we had a fantastic meal at Riddle & Finns. We googled Sea food restaurants and Riddle & Finns showed up. I knew it was pricey so had omitted it from my selection but since everyone was hungry we decided to take a look. When we went in it was busy but because they had a 4 course set menu for 35 pounds and the food smelt divine we decided to eat there. They had a separate Gluten Free menu which was great and were very particular about food allergy. We started with a bread basket with Mackerel Pate, Taramasalata and horse radish sauce. When they brought it and I asked if they had some GF bread, they whisked it away and brought another one with Gluten free Blinis as the bread was in the tray with the Pate and so they didn't want to risk cross contamination. The Pate was so delicious we were wondering whether to get another round! My friends got the seafood platter as a main which was 75 pounds minimum 2 people. They said it was very good with scallops, oysters, mussels, prawns & Octopus. I had the #Gluten Free Smoked Haddock fillet on a bed of Colcannon, with poached egg, Prosciutto and Champagne sauce. The Sauce was delicious, the fish very fresh BUT the fish was wafer thin. It was most likely sliced horizontally as no fish is that thin. For 29 pounds I didn't expect to eat more potatoes than fish! This was my only complaint hence the 4 star rating. I expected a chunky piece of fish. There was an offer on the Negronis for 5 pounds each and 1 round Free if you join their membership. The Negroni was served in a really small glass hence the 5 pounds but was well made. The other 2 finished with a beautiful looking dessert platter that they said was yummy but unfortunately the only #GF dessert was a truffle or Ice cream. When I tried to pick a truffle off the plate from the side without the Gluten, Dave the server said he'd bring me a fresh truffle if I wanted and not to take a chance as he took allergies very seriously. Dave rocks! He took such good care of my Gluten Free requirements. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good sea food, good service and a lovely atmosphere with candles on the table too 😃 Big shout out to our server Dave for his fantastic service.

Amazing special of scallops in a chicken butter sauce was the standout for me. I also had lemon sole with samphire sauce and heritage tomatoes and optional extra of burrata which was very nice. Very good unobtrusive service in very nice surroundings in the jewellery quarter. Place for a treat/special occasion. Service included.

The grilled mackerel was a magnificent, charred and succulent. As a solo walk in diner, I was made to feel so welcome, by everyone: mostly from Christian who goes out of his way to help you with the many great food choices while being honest. SHELTER HALL is a trendy seaside food court located in a converted Victorian building right on the seafront. It features six exciting food concepts from renowned chefs, offering global eats and a variety of beverages including cocktails, wine, and craft beer. The venue provides banquet-style seating in a stylish hall serving food from breakfast to dinner, as well as a spacious al fresco terrace. Additionally, it hosts live music sessions and DJs on weekends.
This was my first visit here (I had only had a brief look around on a few days earlier) and it was great. You can order very easily from the different kitchens using a QR code from your table and enjoy the sea views and music. My food from temaki (Japanese kitchen) was delicious and presented beautifully. Good prices for the quality. Lovely friendly staff.

Had a really great time at Shelter hall. They managed to squeeze us in when they were absolutely packed. Also had this lovely foggy view of west pier from our table. Food was great and came rather quick. Didn’t take a picture of it all as it was so nice I forgot to. Really like the fact you have such wide variety of different places to select food room. We went for a steak, Parmesan fries and a sea bream dish. Was all very well done. Staff were really lovely and accommodating, asked for extra plates and got multiple from each place we ordered from. So be wary making requests on the app as it goes separate to each place you order a dish from. Just ask the bar staff or specify the place you’d like an extra plate or whatever you request is. Definitely would recommend and will be attending again.

What a great concept that celebrates West Sussex local food and offers so many delicious options. We went on a Friday around 1pm and walked right in, though I imagine it gets busy so booking is probably a good idea. There’s a great mix of choices like burgers, sushi and tacos, and everything looked fantastic. I had the chickpea burger which was delicious. Next time I’d love to try the sushi and will definitely be back when I’m next in Brighton.

Great place on the beach for food and drink. Nice choice of good food, good beers and great cocktails. (Sometimes service can be a little slow depending on business). Great atmosphere and attentive friendly staff.

Fine dining restaurant
Dilsk, located in Drakes Hotel, is a sophisticated and unassuming tasting menu spot in Brighton. The restaurant offers compact, seasonal menus with inventive and delicious cooking. The minimal, whitewashed interiors add to the dining experience. Guests can enjoy a sublime tasting menu featuring beautifully presented dishes with a wonderful balance of flavors. The chef, Tom, provides exceptional service by discussing the process and flavors of his creations with patrons.
The restaurant at Drakes Hotel has long been a favourite of mine. I’m old enough to remember the restaurant being a Gingerman, and then simply the Restaurant at Drakes. It’s always served fab food, but I think this latest incarnation tops them all. It really is faultless. I had the private room for my birthday. This is a great space; completely separate from the main dinning room, so you don’t have to worry about noise. The wonderful Maddy and Ruby were on hand to sort bits prior to the day, and all the staff on the night were just amazing. We had the 9 course taster with wines, which was well paced, so lasted the whole evening. Each course really was perfection, and that’s not something I say lightly. The attention to detail was phenomenal, with the flavours, textures and presentation all spot on. Thank you for looking after us. We all had an amazing night.

This was our first visit here after searching for fine dining establishments. The service, was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had the 4 course set menu at £35, which was not only great value, but was also delicious. We paid a supplement for the additional Scallop course. We'll definitely be going back and highly recommend.
David P — Google review
Dilsk is a wonderful restaurant. The food is truly first rate, I’d say it’s of Michelin star standard having eaten at a few which are. Overall our experience was great and something I’d happily repeat. We had the 10 course tasting menu and wine flight to accompany it, the wine was varied and fitted each course very well. The waitresses gave full descriptions of the wine for each course and why it was paired. Things to note - They only offer limited choice menus - a four course menu with two or three choices for the middle courses, a 5 course tasting menu and a 10 tasting course so don’t expect a huge choice for what you eat, making it less suitable for groups with specific tastes or needs. Though I must caveat this point by repeating that all the food beyond excellent! Areas for improvement: Really there are very few, but one recommendation which would have improved our experience: whilst the service was attentive and the waitresses both excellent, ours was clearly not at all knowledgeable about wine, and therefore any questions about the wine were unanswerable - a restaurant of this quality would benefit from at least one wine expert.
Thomas F — Google review
It's hard to fault this place. The space is small and intimate without being too overbearing. The simple and elegant decor adds to the informal atmosphere and gentle ambience. The wait team were knowledgeable and mostly just on the right side of attentive. The dishes on our tasting menu were well executed with delicious flavours. There wasn't a dud among them! Starting with the warm and fluffy truffles brioche with dripping butter topped with signature picked dilsk. The focus on local produce was a pleasant and genuine highlight. Two of the standout dishes for us, were the cod with celeriac and hazelnut miso, along with absolutely scrumptious walnut parfait. Wine selection was good and varied with the cheapest bottle being £40. choice of dessert wines too, which we just had to partake in. When in Rome 😉 We left full and satisfied after a lovely afternoon lunch and would definitely go back.
Review L — Google review
We found this place for our special occasion and saw they’re Michelin recommended so had high expectations. The restaurant is located in the basement of a hotel and felt bit cramped as we walked in. The staff was very friendly and polite, very professional and explained each dish very clearly. The snacks and starters started off well especially the scallop and the cod - Woah that was good! Unfortunately the chicken main afterwards was lacking. The poached chicken was very dry and the other ingredients used in the dish didn’t really integrate in a balanced way and extremely salty.. then was the sirloin dish which puts us off, the portion of the sirloin was tiny (but to be fair the dish had four components so that’s probably why..) the oysters we had was bit fishy but I personally liked oysters so it was okay. The restaurant got very busy towards the end and our service suddenly went very slowly (started at 6 and left at 9:15! So be prepared to have a long evening if you’re taking the full menu) In general I would recommend if you enjoy tasting everything in a meal. The full menu covered lots of cooking techniques, ingredients, textures and flavours and given its not crazy expensive!

We had some exceptional food for our sons 18th birthday via the tasting menu and wine flight. There was an issue with the bill I discovered in the cold light of day (!!) that was rectified with the minimum of fuss the following day. The food and wine were delivered expertly with an explanation as to how the wine would work with the food. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. Couldn’t really fault it. It was really special. Thank you

This is a really lovely restaurant. We had the short tasting menu and everything was delicious. The service was incredibly attentive and it definitely felt like a special treat. The sea bass and the first course were my favourites (the ones I forgot to get pictures of!).

Asian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Brighton's vibrant Preston Street, No No Please is a chic and inviting lounge, bar, and restaurant that perfectly blends style with a warm atmosphere. This establishment showcases a thoughtfully designed mid-century interior while offering an enticing menu filled with Southeast Asian small plates. Among the must-try dishes are the delightful egg and soldier—savory prawn toast fingers paired with a luscious cured yolk—and the comforting beef cheek and coconut No No Slow Curry.
Where do I begin? This restaurant has it all. The atmosphere and decor is exceptional, with even better staff and flawless food! The entire concept is amazing and flavours are bold. The staff are passionate about what they do and it really shows. It was really hard to find a stand out dish as everything was immaculate, however the confit egg yolk with prawn toast was outstanding! We can't thank the team enough for a fantastic night and can't wait to come back!

Food, drinks, service and ambience are perfect here! The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, making sure we don't order too much. The small plates are decent in size - don't get fooled, it's so filling! Great place for a night out or special celebrations 💖

From someone who does a lot of cooking, I loved the fusion and the freshness. Exciting flavours, and 10 out of 10 for every dish we had. Recommended to us while in Brighton. Would highly recommend. The only down side is we don't stay near!! Drink list amazing, and if not drinking then there is a selection of some of the best iced teas and lemonades.

We were lucky enough to grab the sofa area as we hadnt booked. The place soon filled up with reservations and can completely see why. The staff were so friendly and accomodating from the moment we arrived. The sharing plates we chose were to die for and the flavours were incredible , we couldn't stop talking about the food even during the next days long car journey home! Beautiful cosy atmosphere, delicious food and wonderful staff. Can't recommend enough. Thank you!

Better than Bincho! This place deserves the same hype. Had an amazing evening here last night. The food and service was absolutely incredible and one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The restaurant is gorgeous and has such a lovely ambience. The menu is varied and affordable very good value for money. Perfect for any occasion. The staff are really lovely and friendly. The fritters are incredible, we ordered three portions as they were so delicious. Everything we ate was amazing. My new favourite restaurant in Brighton.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant during our day trip to Brighton and we're so pleased we did. Sushi restaurant
MOSHIMO is a modern sushi restaurant with sliding screens that open to the outside and a deck featuring Japanese-style seats. The restaurant is known for its sustainability efforts, offering a menu that is largely vegan-friendly. Dishes include plant-based sashimi, vegan tempura, and sushi rolls filled with vegan crab, tuna, or salmon. The menu features color-coded dishes to distinguish completely plant-based options, along with vegan wines.
Visited Moshimo for the first time tonight and immediately had to leave a review. The food was incredible, so many vegan options!!! We were served by a lovely girl with long lashes and a pretty pink dress, I think her name was daisy, what a delight! Will be back soon

Atmosphere was a bit quiet as there was a huge storm outside so it was less busy than usual. It's normally lively and enjoyable though. Food was exceptionally good, as it always is here. Great value, especially with the annual members card. Fantastic variety, catering for veggies and vegans too, yay! Would love a bit more vegan protein that isn't fake meat, but hey, I'm not complaining, just gently suggesting! Staff are always friendly, capable, available and competent. All in all a reliably fantastic restaurant with great prices, wonderful food, super service and a friendly vibe. Highly recommended!

Booked here for an anniversary meal. Was not disappointed the service was great the food was amazing with lots to choose From including from the menu and from the sushi conveyor belt. Limited beer options but that’s to be expected.
Simon L — Google review
Disappointing visit, would not recommend This visit was quite a letdown overall. The restaurant felt unclean, and the bathrooms were unpleasant with two taps not working and no tissues available to dry hands. The food was below expectations. The ribs, which were advertised as “fall off the bone,” were hard, dry and chewy. The sauce did not help, and I had to send them back. The chicken katsu was bland and served somewhat cold, as was the rice, even though the waiter said it had been freshly made. The sushi was another disappointment, with very overcooked rice that ruined the texture, although the salmon and avocado inside were fresh and enjoyable. There were a few positives. The presentation of the dishes was very nice. The vegetable tempura had a lovely batter and the gluten free option was inclusive and thoughtful. The gyoza were soft and the sauce paired well. I also appreciated that gluten free soy sauce was available. Service was another weak point. The waiters mostly stood around chatting to each other, and a member of our group had to get up twice to get their attention because they were not paying attention to tables. In summary, while there were some nice touches, the poor hygiene, disappointing food and inattentive service make this a place I would not recommend.
Elina — Google review
The menu is simple with not much thrills. Simplistic you could say. Ordered a big sushi boat (£100)and few sides and noodles. The food came out in good time and the waitress was accommodating and doing her best, thumbs up to her. The food itself was disappointing and not very good vfm. Ribs were very dry, the teriyaki chicken was going on dry, the noodles lacked any umpff, the sushi was fine but not worth the money in my opinion.

Went with some friends for dinner on a Thursday evening. We ordered lots and all of it was great. We had a vegetarian and a vegan in the party and there was plenty to choose from. We ended up taking some bits home as we over ordered a bit, lol. Really nice staff as well. I will be back soon :-)

Warm welcome received as we were shown to our table by a very courteous host. We had only been sat for a moment when our server Daisy arrived to introduced herself and took our drinks order. She talked us through the menu and was very attentive the whole time without being intrusive. Excellent food, reasonable prices, definitely recommend the kang jung and Kali Kali California. Definitely returning next time I’m in Brighton

The Urchin Brewery & Shellfish Pub in Hove is a charming spot for seafood enthusiasts. With a covered, heated garden and a maritime-themed interior, it offers a unique experience. The pub serves fresh shellfish and hand-crafted beer, with the added bonus of their own mini brewery on-site. The menu features an array of luxurious seafood options such as Jersey rock oysters, potted crab, whole lobsters, and Malaysian king prawns.
Very nice and cosy pub, with food better than your average pub grub! They focus on fish and there are some great dishes with high quality fish on both the classic menu and the constantly changing specials. The flavours were fun and creative, pairing fish with things you don’t see much elsewhere - they do still have the classics too though! The food was indeed very nice, but a little pricey for what you actually got. The oysters were especially good and £2.50 for a plain one isn’t actually that bad! The service was lovely the whole night and we had a very romantic evening :)
Dom S — Google review
Always a great experience at the Urchin! Can’t find any fresher seafood for such affordable prices. Everything is cooked to perfection and served with love. They deffo know their food and you can tell from their wine list and from the flavour combinations they serve. The staff has been lovely everytime I been there, and the sitting area is clean and nicely decorated. Only issue was some stones left in the mussels so they weren’t properly cleaned but that happened only once (yesterday) however they’re forgiven because everything else is 10/10! *chefs kiss*

Such a great pub. The service was amazing, especially our server Grace who was a dream at making sure we had everything we needed. The oysters were great and the portions were really generous! Can't wait to go back!

We were a bit apprehensive walking out here from Brighton due to the distance and it was mainly the brewery aspect that drew us. They had a whole lobster for £38 which honestly seemed like a typo (in Edinburgh we would normally pay >£50) the lobster was phenomenal. The craft beer selection was a little bit disappointing but the food more than made up for it and service was excellent!

Scallop, Squid, 2 x Muscles superb. Local IPA and a glass of Sancerre also taken. All very well looled after. Thank you. We will make time to come back.

Oysters were amazing so fresh but the Paella was such a dissapoinment! Overpowering flavor of fennel, and when we mentioned it to the waitress she just shrugged and said 'well I love fennel'. I also like fennel, but not when it overpowers the rest of the dish. 5 of 6 clams were not open, and my husband had mild food poisoning symptoms within 2 hours of us leaving the restaurant. Such a pity as we love seafood, but we won't be back and will not be recommending

At long last, I made it here and I was not disappointed. Every mouthful was an experience..an explosion of flavour in the mouth. I really enjoyed the crab and the sauce it came in was soo tasty I drank the lot of it! My partner had the mussels which were also so tasty. The oysters were fresh and delightful. Will definitely come again! Highly recommend 👌. Quality food at a great price

Nice small Japanese casual restaurant serving classic Japanese hot dishes like Katsu curry and chicken teriyaki and much more. The highlight here are the prices almost all dishes are under 10£ which is rare to find nowadays. Portion sizes are decent and they have plenty of seats upstairs too. You order at the counter but make sure you bring cash as they only accept cash. For a 2.5£ fee you can even bring your own booze 😂

Cute little Japanese restaurant with good service. Order and pay first at the counter and find a seat. The pork shouga yaki don was good but the prawn yakisoba only tasted like oyster sauce.

I was excited to try this place. Will not be returning. The good news is the food is very low cost and fast. But everything else? Not good. The food was some of the worst I’ve had, tasted like it could have been a frozen meal. The inside smelled like chlorine so much at one point that another table mentioned it before I noticed, so we went outside. Outside was worse! There was literally paint falling down on us INTO THE FOOD. So much so we thought it was snowing. It wasn’t. 😅. Iconically bad.

The restaurant offers a unique twist on traditional Mexican cuisine, serving up an array of small plates and street eats inspired by the flavors of Mexico. At the heart of Halisco's menu are its diverse range of tacos, featuring options such as slow-cooked ox cheek with bone marrow mayo and crispy onions, as well as vegetarian alternatives like refried beans and sautéed mushrooms with confit garlic.
A supremely cute Mexican restaurant serves up a limited menu of tacos and other small plates. We had a Chilies Toreados and a mushroom tacos and both were packed in flavour and were delicious. Loved it!

Good food. Margaritas were good. The corn ribs were nice but nothing particularly special (very easy to make at home.) The lamb croquettes were flavoursome but very small portion. The beef rib taco was absolutely delicious. The prawn taco was ok/good but small; probably wouldn’t have that one again. My main criticism today was the whopping 12.5% “optional” service charge added to the bill… for bringing us food & drinks from 2-5 metres away. Next time I’ll insist that is taken off.
Vero N — Google review
It was my second time at Halisco, and oh boy, I love the food! Definitely make a booking if you want to go at lunchtime—otherwise, you’ll be disappointed. The corn ribs are a must! I could live on them for the rest of my life. Every taco I’ve tried so far has been fresh and delicious. This time, we had the chicken and the brisket, and both were so flavourful and filling.
Eni — Google review
The food was amazing. Had the Lamb Ribs plate with the Beef Tacos and Pork Tacos. Everything tasted great, especially the Beef Tacos, but the prices quickly add up. You only get a spoonful of guacamole if you order it separately as an example. If it wasn't for the prices this place would easily be a 5/5.

Halisco gave me a different experience with mexican food. The corn ribs were a unique taste, and the halloumi tacos were really good as well. A must-visit on your trip to Brighton! The place can get a little crowded and noisy with a lot of customers sitting inside, but that is something manageable when the food and service is great!

Ooooooo this place is sooooooo goooooddddd everything is so delicious! Nothing below a 9/10!! And their margs are BEAUTIFUL!!! Located on Preston Street, Bincho Yakitori is a Japanese izakaya that draws inspiration from the casual dining spots in downtown Tokyo. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere and a menu designed for sharing, featuring dishes grilled over natural fire with simple flavors. Chef David Miney's expertise, gained from living in Japan and cooking in Tokyo for three years, shines through signature items like kara fried chicken, pork belly, and chicken skin skewers.
If you hate amazing food, wonderful staff and fantastic atmosphere then do not come. Here, you will find a refined menu with flavours you will go to bed and dream about. We sat at the kitchen bar and had the most fantastic experience. The Korean cucumber and pork belly yakatori are essential. Chicken skins a regular favourite also.. I recommend booking the next table you can (be prepared to wait a few weeks) and tell all. Your friends. A true gem in Brighton emerging foodie culture.

Not to be dramatic, but i could eat here every single meal for the rest of my life. Pork belly skewers are out of this world. Other faves are the chicken skin skewers, the grilled mackerel, miso corn and garlic rice, but no matter what you go for you won't be disappointed.

The Little Fish Market offers a creative seafood dining experience in an unassuming atmosphere, showcasing regional produce and local artworks. Chef Duncan Ray, formerly of The Fat Duck, emphasizes the use of locally sourced fish from British day boats to ensure unparalleled freshness.
We went there for lunch on a Friday. We had made a booking, but it wouldn't have been necessary. We got the lunch menu, which at £35 per person and the quality of the food is great! They started us off with bread and butter, which was delicious. The bread was sourdough bread, and had a really nice and deep flavor with a sour hint to it. As a starter, we got the ravioli filled with salmon. The pasta itself was nicely cooked, the filling was delicious with the right amount of salmon, and the accompanying sauce acidic to break through the richness of the ravioli. As a main we got the Gilt-Head Bream with gnocchi. The fish was crispy, but its flesh cooked just right, flaky and tender. The gnocchi were light and cloud-like. For dessert we got the cheese, and although it's not a dish that they have made themselves, the Montgomery Cheddar was a nice way to end the meal. Service was impeccable: friendly and at the right pace. Moreover, at the end Chef Duncan himself came up to check on us and see how we enjoyed the meal, which was a nice touch. Next time I visit Brighton I'll try to make a point to try to have dinner at the Little Fish Market.
Fuad T — Google review
Amazing food, faultless service, but a shame about the extra non-advertised charge for the fish. My partner and I had dinner here as a special treat for our anniversary, at £85 a head it is not our everyday meal! The food was incredible, special mention to the Thai-inspired Monkfish and the signature 'egg and soldiers'. The service was of a very high standard, with the waitress explaining every course in detail and continuously topping up our wine. The restaurant does feel a little 'cold', (decor and lighting-wise), it could use a few touches to feel a bit more cosy. The wait between courses is fairly long so be ready for that, but we had prepared ourselves for being there for a while as it was a tasting menu and of course it gave us time to chat! However the thing that was disappointing is that we had to pay a supplement for the main fish course that was not advertised anywhere on the website. This varied per fish chosen, but even the cheapest option added an extra £10 per person on top of an already very expensive meal. I think for £85 a head plus service, (total bill £268), this should have been included, or at least advertised to be that way on the website.
Megan G — Google review
Another wonderful evening at the little fish market hove . This was our 3rd visit and we enjoyed it just as much as the previous two . The service as always impeccable, not intrusive at all , friendly, chilled and relaxed yet very attentive. Didn’t catch the name of the lady serving us but she was great . The food was phenomenal, each course carefully crafted individually , the flavours were on point and beautiful presented . We love the fact that the meal isn’t rushed and you have the table for the whole evening. Of course it’s not the cheapest meal but it’s worth every penny for the quality of ingredients and the amount of work that Duncan and his team put in every dish they serve . They have just won the best restaurant in Brighton award , very well deserved too!
Ruth S — Google review
Not our first visit to The Little Fish Market, and it certainly won't be our last. The food has remained consistently good over the years, with faultless fish cookery, delicately balanced flavours, imaginative ingredient combinations and surprisingly delightful amuse bouches! This evening, the highlights for us were the pan fried cod, cured monkfish, and the diminutive but flavour-packed treacle bread. The only slight disappointment was the peanut butter, chocolate and banana dessert, which was a bit too sweet for my liking and not to my partner's taste, but that is more of a personal preference rather than a failing on the chef's part. The service, also, could have been better, with a bit of indifference and brusqueness at first, but things got better as the evening went on. Don't expect a speedy meal here, and the tasting menu will take a good three hours from start to finish, so as long as you're prepared for that, and want to enjoy delicious seafood and fish, without too many bells and whistles in the form of ambience, this is the place for you.

Sadly I was disappointed. This restaurant has been on my bucket list for years, and I was thrilled to finally secure a table during Octoberbest. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The venue is now very brightly lit — such a shame, as it used to be softly candlelit, which suited the small, intimate space much better. As for the food: my starter of terrine was just about passable, but the main course of braised duck was so salty it was completely inedible. When we mentioned this to the waitress, we were told “it’s supposed to be salty,” which wasn’t exactly the response we were hoping for. Dessert was the highlight — quite nice, but not enough to redeem the meal. With drinks for six of us, the bill came to around £400. I paid begrudgingly, especially as no apology or gesture was offered after our feedback. Sadly, I’d say give this one a miss.
Emma F — Google review
Overpriced, pretentious and small dishes. The evening menu at £85 pp for six small plates, one not much bigger than a single mouthful, wasn't what we expected and not what was listed on their website. Wanted to be wowed but we weren't. Friday night and almost empty. Brightly lit with no atmosphere and candle holders on each table without any candles. Professional service sadly lacking. Wine is so marked up as to be dreadfully overpriced, £65 a bottle, and then to be provided with a £30 service charge! A very disappointing evening. No repeat custom from us.

We’ve visited twice - both for special occasions. The service is great. The quality and presentation of the dishes is exceptional. It’s great to be able to visit nearly a year apart and have a consistent great experience.
Margisel A — Google review
I came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a fantastic evening. There’s an added excitement to the fact that everyone is experiencing the same dishes at the same time. Playful, unexpected plates are paced throughout the evening - we stayed for about 3.5 hours but it felt more like 1.5! It was great that the chef came out to speak to us too and present some of the dishes. Would definitely recommend it

Fourth and Church is a stylish and airy establishment that offers elevated seasonal tapas, charcuterie, cheeses, wine, and beer. It's a shop and wine bar where patrons can explore new wines and delicious food to accompany them. The owners have extensive experience in the industry, ensuring a well-curated selection of wines. Additionally, they offer exclusive and personalized wine tastings for groups of all sizes in their dedicated Tasting Room.
We went to Fourth and Church for our second wedding anniversary (we had our wedding reception at Fourth and Church 2 years ago and also went there the evening we got engaged, so is a very special place for us). Every time we have been, we have a wonderful experience and this time was no exception. We always go for the seasonal set menu. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared and presented, and the service was wonderful. We are always made to feel special and the waiter had a great knowledge of the dishes. Couldn't recommend enough and already looking forward to next time!

Stunning lunch at Fourth and Church yesterday! Five star, fine dining and top notch service.. with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Great value lunch set menu, nice portion size with gorgeous flavours! Our servers Ruby and Peter really knew their stuff! They were both so attentive and second guessed all our needs, offering great advice on wine and even offering a taster on one we’d commented on. They made our day! And the food was next level too. Chef’s kiss! Well done on all your recent awards! Hugely deserved, we shall be back !!!

We went for pre-theatre drinks. Ordered olives and got, also got pickled vegetables and some meats. The wine was delicious and the nibbles were very tasty. Unknowingly we had got a special deal and just had to pay for the wine and service, which was excellent.

Consistently good dining experience. This is our 4th time here, and we love it! A cosy restaurant with great, knowledgeable staff, fantastic food and extensive wine list. We like to sit at the counter, where you can see the chefs at work, and chat to the sommelier. Added bonus is seeing the dishes before you’ve ordered your own, and be inspired!

Just wonderful. Came along for a date afternoon. Friendly staff, food was exceptional will definitely be back. Had the set menu. Thank you!

Such a wonderful neighbourhood restaurant! Always the best service with the team always going above and beyond to share their knowledge with you. And the food is always unbeatable. Truly elevated, clever flavours that you won’t find anywhere else. We also went as an entirely veggie and vegan group and were very well fed! The veggie options always have so much attention and never feel like an afterthought. Make sure you put this on your must visit list!!

Been to this restaurant 3 times, I cannot rave about it enough. The service is attentive without being over the top, the wine menu is extensive the food is fantastic. The small plates are incredible… beautifully thought out and DELICIOUS. I really don’t think there is another restaurant like it in Hove, easily our favourite - and dog friendly!

Modern British restaurant
Restaurant
Kindling Restaurant is a sleek and upscale establishment with an open kitchen that offers innovative British cuisine along with cocktails. The team behind this relative newcomer shares a passion for local suppliers, minimal waste, and quality service. The restaurant's ethos revolves around being kind to the planet, emphasizing high-welfare meats, sustainable fish, local produce, and preserving to extend the seasons.
After days of classic fish & chips, we decided to change things up and try burgers – and Kindling delivered perfectly. Even our children, usually loyal fans of the “golden M,” were impressed by their cheeseburgers and immediately asked if we could come back again. The food was fresh, well prepared, and served with a smile. Burgers & chips may sound simple, but here they are done with care and quality. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy for the whole family to enjoy a meal together. Sometimes, stepping away from tradition is the best decision – and Kindling proved it. Highly recommended for anyone in Brighton looking for something beyond the usual seaside fare.
Max H — Google review
The Sunday roast sharer was incredibly delicious. It’s hard to find somewhere that serves such tender meat and crispy and fluffy roast potatoes. We had lemon tart to finish, which we shared. It was the perfect amount of food. I would highly recommend Kindling for a Sunday roast. The service was great too.
Terri T — Google review
What a great little place! Looks unassuming, understated decor (except for the hop bines full of lights in the ceiling!), open kitchen, lovely staff who were knowledgeable and helpful, so lots to recommend it even before we get to the food! My only very minor issue was that the delicious fresh bread was cold, maybe if it had been warmed a little that would have been perfect. The corn ribs were the best I've ever had, really tasty! The steaks were cooked perfectly, the accompanying sauces were absolutely spot on, and the sides were out of this world! We had creamed spinach and macaroni cheese with my wagyu and my wife's sirloin, the perfect amount to share. The cocktails were really good too, so if you're in Brighton and you fancy a great steak in a lovely place with a delicious cocktail, this is the place for you!

Reservation recommended! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and promptly served. I ordered the House Bavette with Chimichurri sauce, side salad, and skinny fries — everything arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and full of flavour, beautifully complemented by the vibrant Chimichurri. Even the salad and fries were exceptional. The table setting, complete with a candle, created a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and professional — some of the best I’ve encountered. For food and service of this quality, the bill was a pleasant surprise. Kindling is truly a team that delivers excellence.

My husband and I had our first visit here last night for our anniversary. We both agreed that it was the highlight of our mini holiday in Brighton! Every member of staff is beyond welcoming, polite, and attentive. The food itself is like nothing else — absolutely delectable. We ordered the mid-week sharing platter and we could not believe how incredible everything it came with was. Each of the sauces we got (chimichurri, four peppercorn, and mushroom) really elevated our already incredible steaks (and lamb). The value of the sharing platter is really great as well. The atmosphere is cosy and inviting. At the end of our meal, we were given an anniversary plate with delicious chocolate truffles on it, a gesture my husband and I found very endearing. You seriously will not be disappointed. We highly recommend this place and cannot wait to return the next time we’re in Brighton! ☺️

We walked-in and got a table, which was nice as the restaurant was already packed. They serve what seems a good Sunday Roast but we wanted to tried their steaks. Their Ribeye was ok, nothing impressive so it is ok to use a sauce with it, it will actually make the meal nicer. The croquettes were really nice and so the spinach. Service was nice and attentive.

Tasty, reasonably priced steak, cooked to perfection. Could have done with some veg and a more imaginative dessert menu but the cocktail was delish! Overall recommend, and will go again

Had lunch at Kindling on East Street and went for their £15 flat iron steak and fries. Genuinely the best steak I’ve had in ages, perfectly cooked and really flavourful. The chimichurri on the side was fresh and zesty, and the fries were crisp and well-seasoned. Great value, friendly service, and a lovely spot for a quality lunch. Highly recommend.

Tutto is a new addition to Brighton's dining scene, brought to life by restaurateur Razak Helalat. The restaurant prides itself on showcasing simple, seasonal ingredients in a restored 1930s bank setting with striking awnings and vibrant artwork. Guests can indulge in reasonably priced sharing plates of Italian classics like anchovies with tomatoes, tenderstem fritto, grilled sardines, and cacio e pepe.
I booked this restaurant for a meal for my boyfriend’s birthday as the two of us. When we got there, they informed us that they had overbooked and offered us either a perfectly lovely table, or a seat at the bar with a free round of drinks and 50% off our whole bill! We obviously chose to sit at the bar! I have to say… this was the best meal either of us had ever had. EVER. The atmosphere sat at the bar was amazing- the bartender was incredibly attentive and made sure we always had a drink and were happy. The food was just incredible. Perfectly seasoned and just unbelievably good in every sense. We had the tasting menu and every dish was phenomenal. They also made my boyfriend feel very special for his birthday. We will 1000% be visiting again. Can’t get over how good it was!!

Visited last night with a couple friends and we were very impressed! Booked it very last minute so hadn’t had a look at the menu before hand, when we were told the menu is a small plate concept we were surprised as normally not the type of people to share food aha! However the menu was very well put together, not the typical Italian restaurant menu but definitely something for everyone! All the food was delicious, my personal favourite was the suplí! Good drinks selection too. Service was great, very kind and knowledgeable severing staff. The design of the restaurant was beautiful, great lighting, an outstanding bar, plenty of space so didn’t feel on top of one another. Shall definitely be returning and will be recommending to peers! Thank you Tutto for a fabulous evening.

Toutto Italian in Brighton absolutely blew us away. The arancini were hands down the best I’ve ever had – perfectly crisp on the outside and full of flavour inside. I followed this with the lamb rump, cooked beautifully and bursting with richness, before finishing with the chocolate hazelnut dessert, which was the perfect ending to the meal. My sister-in-law brought my family here, and we’re so glad she did. Everything from the food to the atmosphere was spot on. Highly recommend!

As someone who works in luxury hospitality, I know what excellent service is. I was blown away by how the team looked after my family, but especially our daughter. They made us so welcome and this will last with us for a long time. Food was excellent, the pasta carbonara for my daughter was delightful, favourites were the prawns in Chilli butter & the Veal chop which was outstanding. Honestly a wonderful meal and we cannot wait to come again! PS it was the day after Halloween and my daughter refused to take off her costume! But they still treated her like royalty!

The portion of the Rigatoni (served as a main) is really too small — as you can see in the photo, that’s before even started eating. It was also quite salty. The spaghetti was similar in portion, though it tasted better than the Rigatoni. (still a wee salty) But I really enjoyed the starter — the prawn and mozzarella dish was excellent! The starter with prawn and mozzarella was excellent, though! Overall, despite the lovely setting, having just one starter and one main each didn’t feel quite enough to make a full meal.

I’m honestly in love with this place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff are incredibly kind and attentive, and the food… I think it might just be my favourite Italian in the whole of the UK. I can’t even decide what’s better - the service or the food - both are absolutely flawless. From the beef carpaccio that melts in your mouth, to the prawns that taste so fresh and full of flavour, every dish is perfection. And the beef ragu pasta? It completely blows your palate away. I can’t wait to come back, this restaurant has my heart. ❤️

Embers is a new addition to the vibrant food scene in Brighton, located in the heart of the historic Lanes. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with an open kitchen where everything is cooked over an open wood fire. The menu is designed for sharing and features faultless small plates cooked over fire, accompanied by creative cocktails. Despite being relatively new, Embers has quickly become a favorite among diners for its thoughtful and flavorful dishes.
We had a great evening at Embers. We were served by Lyndon and his co workers who we didn’t catch their names, were all super friendly, helpful and knew their stuff when it came to food and drink. They gave us some great recommendations and made the whole experience really easy. The food was really tasty, rich as you’d expect from wood-fired cooking, and everything looked amazing when it came out. Portions were generous without being over the top, and the prices felt fair for the quality. The place itself has a lovely atmosphere, done out really nicely inside. Feels like somewhere you could sip wine all night. Overall, a really enjoyable night and I will definitely be going back.

Embers in Brighton is an absolute gem! The food is simply outstanding – the sirloin cooked over the fire was tender, full of flavour, and perfectly paired with their unique savoy cabbage, which was smoky, rich, and unlike anything I’ve tried before. The cocktails are just as impressive – creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. I loved the whole experience of sitting with a view of the chefs cooking over the flames, which made the evening feel warm and special. The interior is stylish yet cosy, perfectly matching the vibrant atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit in Brighton!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We visited Embers for our 2nd wedding anniversary with our Hungarian Viszla girl (they are super dog friendly). The evening was perfect. EMMA our waitress was fantastic from start to finish. Chatting us through the menu and looking after us. So helpful, service was great and chatty throughout service. We ordered the set menu - the food was amazing! Everything was delicious. We also want to give a shout out to VALERIE in charge of the bar. Her cocktails and knowledge of drinks were amazing. We had a fabulous evening & this place is so worth a visit. We can’t recommend more.

After eating at Issac’s 10 years ago when visiting Brighton, we had to try his current venture upon our return. We were certainly not disappointed! It was excellent. The food was exceptional, so full of flavour. We loved the cocktails (some of the best we’ve ever had - the Mai Tai really stood out) and the atmosphere and staff were fantastic. It was our honeymoon and the staff all congratulated us too, which was really sweet.

The food speaks for itself. We agreed that the star of the show was the beetroot salad. Full of flavours, char, nut, earthy. I could have just had a huge portion and left fully satisfied. T bone steak to share was tender. Bulgarian Chardonnay was not bad either. Service was not tardy and had a good friendly flow.
Bryan S — Google review
No words to describe this place other than, phenomenal. Quite possibly the best Sunday roast served in Brighton, served quite generously. The cocktails were to die for, so much so that I had to sample three of them. Ben and the team were incredibly accommodating and welcoming throughout my visit. If you’re looking for a Sunday night well spent, please do visit Embers! You won’t be disappointed!
Jack B — Google review
Best restaurant I’ve ever been to amazing food (ox heart, rainbow trout, flat iron steak, cauliflower wings, crème brûlée), perfect drinks, beautiful interior, and flawless service. Embers Brighton is a must-visit! This was my sixth visit to Embers, and I’m quickly becoming a regular. For starters, I had the Woodfired Beetroot with horseradish cream, smoked kale, and hazelnut vinaigrette. The roasted beetroot’s natural sweetness, combined with the slightly spicy cream and the crunch of hazelnuts, was simply perfect. For the main course, I enjoyed the Flamed Whole Sea Bream with clam chowder and bacon jam. The lightly smoky fish paired beautifully with the creamy chowder. I also tried the Cadillac Jo’ Margarita, whose refreshing citrus notes and gentle heat complemented the meal perfectly. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. Embers never fails to impress in both taste and presentation.

food was utterly fantastic and once we’d understood the concept of the platter we were all in! the unsung hero was the cauliflower cheese puree which i could bathe in, and went fantastically with everything. best pork i’ve ever had, beef was perfectly cooked and the lamb sausage was so good my boyfriend ordered another. there’s a reason it’s been voted best roast in brighton, highly recommend!

Really great place - loved the vibe, service and food! We felt very welcomed, they accommodated us with the food order, as we only wanted to eat a little. We had padrón peppers, freshly baked bread and butter, and baba ghanoush - everything was very delicious. Set menu available - which we definitely going to try next time when we back in Brighton. They had some unfamiliar wines, and the lady kindly offered to try it before ordering, which helped us a lot. Wine was on point! Really recommend this place if you in the area.

Nice small plates restaurant, serving new interesting takes on classic Mediterranean food. Some plates are excellent, some not so much but overall great quality. Busy service on Friday with only two people serving so was either slow or plates came out quickly! Think they need more staff. Would come back and try seasonal menu. Recommend.

When skill meets creativity = extraordinary meal! When the staff served us water, I know this restaurant has something to expect, they chilled the glass, when a restaurant was very attentive to details, food cant go wrong. And the food is far better than what I expected! Everything was so delicious, complex favour with layers of textures, and they made new combinations of food which balanced so well with each others. Not the mention friendly staff, we felt so welcomed. Thank you for creating these delicious dishes, it made our trip a memorable ending.

Anakuma is a new and exciting addition to the dining scene in Sussex. The restaurant offers a diverse menu that caters to vegans, vegetarians, as well as meat and fish lovers. The warm atmosphere and beautiful decor create an inviting dining experience. Customers praise the friendly staff and commend the delicious food, with standout dishes like Thai Green Aubergine and Tenderstem Broccoli.
Had been meaning to visit Anakuma since it opened, but I’m so glad that I (unintentionally!) waited until they branched out into their new Mexican-Japanese fusion menu!! The restaurant itself is a pleasant space to be in, with an unpretentious and warm atmosphere. All service was with a smile. We started with some cocktails which arrived quickly and were absolutely perfect - the Halisco margarita may be my new favourite style of marg! The meal was an absolute treat from start to finish. The katsu devilled egg with curry sauce was so good, I could have eaten 10 - do not miss out on those! It’s the perfect snack to enjoy with your drink. For our main meal, we then ordered five small plates between the four of us, plus a bao/taco each - this felt like just the right amount of food, and we all left feeling really satisfied!! Highlights of the menu (for me) were the crispy sea bass (very impressive, as I’m not usually a fan of fish!), the Korean chicken, and the grilled tenderstem. We also enjoyed the padron peppers and the Halisco-fan favourite: corn ribs!! All food arrived freshly prepared and in almost-perfect succession, and staff were quick to remove finished plates as others arrived. The only dish which I thought could do with improvement was the oyster mushroom karage taco - I felt the batter overwhelmed the delicate mushroom flavours, and it really felt like I was just eating a taco with batter in it. Perhaps serving the oyster mushrooms fresh would do more to preserve their wonderful flavour? Regardless, the meal was generally outstanding and really good value for the portion sizes. We will gladly come back here!! 🦡🫶🏻✨

Great selection of small plates and interesting fusion ideas which really work, lots of vegetarian/vegan choices. The mezcal margarita was a great pairing with the food too, you can tell this place is part of the Halisco group! My only small bit of feedback is that the fiery margarita wasn't very spicy, even with a fresh chilli in there, might need some chilli syrup to back up the fiery name 🌶️ We will definitely return, if you go - don't skip past the padron peppers, they're too good 🤤

We had a great experience at Anakuma in Brighton. The food was excellent across the board, with bold flavours and creative small plates that were perfect for sharing. First time at Anakuma and knew it would be great as we’ve eaten at Halisco a few times but it far exceeded expectations. Every dish was utterly delicious and the prawn and chicken balls were next level amazing. I’d have ordered more if we weren’t so full. Great portion sizes and beautifully presented. Also had the cheaper option white wine (Hungarian) and that was a great choice with the food. Service was a great combination of friendly and efficient. My only tiny gripe was the background music as it was just a bit jarring at times but that’s just a personal opinion! Would definitely go back and will be recommending to everyone I know!

We tried to get into their brother restaurant Halisco which is Mexican and meant to be amazing. Our hotel booked us in and said that we’d not be disappointed and she was right. We had 6 plates which was more than enough for the two of us. The service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious and our Japanese whisky sour was delicious!
Mandy R — Google review
Great service, vibrant atmosphere, but just decent food. Brighton’s food scene is so competitive that you need to be on the top of your game and it didn’t quite hit the highs of the sister restaurant Halisco. We went for OctoberBest and sampled both the vegan and fish set menu. Nothing blew us away except the fish bao which was delicious but yeah, nothing crazy besides that. Solid choice if you’re in the area but unfortunately Brighton has a wide array of amazing Asian cuisine that id probably recommend over Anakuma. But they’ve put a lot of effort into the décor and ambience and it really shows. Defo room for it to grow into a top Brighton restaurant.

It’s pretty good, but they seem to have fallen victim to a lot of the “strong beer = good beer” vibe that’s taking over. Reasonable prices too. Quality beers, incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff, all within a stunning taproom. We booked a table for a group of 12 of us on a Saturday eve - the staff took the time to welcome us and looked after us all evening.

Love this place. The beer is my favourite. The new Oyster stout is actually sublime. I was sceptical about it but when I had some bought for me Father’s Day, my eyes were opened. It’s one of the nicest, smoothest stouts I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot of stouts!! Even better is the fact you can get a pizza while you’re there. Best place to drink in my opinion.

Amari Restaurant, the exciting new establishment from Team Halisco and celebrated chef Ian Swainson, is making its debut this October on Baker Street, taking over the former Semolina location near Brighton Open Market. With a strong background in Spanish-inspired cuisine from his time at Amarillo and Halisco, Swainson aims to create an intimate dining experience that highlights small plates bursting with vibrant flavors reminiscent of Spain. Guests have already begun to rave about their experiences at Amari.
What a fantastic find on Baker street of all streets! This is where Semolina was originally, and has been taken over by a v talented team, front and back of house. Small Spanish plates are the focus and they are all excellent, from nibbles of anchovies, deep fried olives and manchego to the skate wing and short rib. Brilliantly executed. Dessert of rhubarb sorbet and chocolate fondant w cherry cream were also delicious. Good selection of Spanish and Argentinian wines. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Such a great local place to find.

Beautiful, intimate restaurant. Absolutely amazing, passionate and knowledge staff. The chefs actually bring the food out from the kitchen to your table themselves which I think is a lovely touch. The food was out of this world. Try as much of the menu as you can! The flavours are absolutely incredible. And the best sangria I’ve ever had (even better than ones I had in Madrid) this place is a proper hidden gem and I’m going to be thinking about the food for days and probably weeks until I get the chance to return.

I used to come to this location regularly when the restaurant was called Semolina. It’s a small restaurant sits 20. It has been renovated lovely & has a really nice atmosphere. If I’m honest being in the Michelin guide I was expecting more from the food. The bread was delicious but felt more French. The beet salad was my favourite, delicious so much so that I ate it before I thought to take a photo ;) The mushroom croquettes were delicious in taste but the texture wasn’t quite right, a bit wet. For tapas we like to order a few things and then see how full we are then order more. We had ordered patatas bravas at the same time as above but they never materialised, we could see the service was taking a wee bit longer (and the server had mentioned that things such as the cauliflower took 30-40 mins) so we also ordered the tiny squid whilst waiting for the potatoes. Still nothing materialised, when we mention the patatas bravas we were told they were going to serve them with the squid... fine. Then 5 mins later they came, so I feel they were just forgotten about. The table next to us had sent their potatoes back because they were cold, and half of ours were hot and the rest barely warm. They were very tasty, but more like roast potatoes. The squid wasn't actually very nice, it was too salty & I like salt. It came with squid ink which is salty and was a puddle, rather than a dressing. It was also sever with samphire which is also salty but it was the squid coating itself that was extremely salty. I like salt so I ate it, but my husband couldn't. It wasn't a balanced dish. This apparently wasn't the only dish that was salty as the couple on the other side of us sent back their buttered greens because they were too salty. I don't eat meat but what I saw come out did look delicious. It was a lovely evening and the service is very personable but the food delivery is quite slow, I understand that the kitchen is small and so things would take longer but I've been in many a tiny tapas restaurant and not waited as long, especially for things such as bravas. The chef is obviously cooking to order, so well done for that, but 40 mins for some parts of the menu feels bit excessive. It is very reasonably priced, and the wine was nice, but we'd finished the bottle before the food had all arrived, which for me never happens, but we were drinking whilst waiting for each dish to arrive (nothing came together). I don't want this to sound too negative, we did enjoy it, but just expected a bit more being in The food guide.

The food was creative and absolutely delicious. The service was exceptionally warm and attentive—especially impressive given my gluten-free needs. They provided a separate menu highlighting gluten-free options and clearly marked any risk of cross-contamination. It may be a little off the beaten path, but it’s well worth the trip! Special thanks to Claudiu, who was truly outstanding.

Lovely boutique restaurant serving small and large plates. We ordered ALL the small plates to share between two plus bread with oil and enjoyed all. Standout for us were the mushroom croquettes and the king prawns. Great selection of wines with great service. Wonderful.

Lovely food and great service. Portions on the smaller side, so maybe order a bit more than you would normally and add some delicious freshly baked bread to soak up the lovely sauces. Standout items were the prawns in Bisque sauce and the Skate.

Amari's a small restaurant with a great atmosphere and fabulous food. We ordered about 10 different tapas and every one was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The salmorejo and manchego stuffed olives were particular highlights. The cocktails were tasty too so we'll definitely be back.

Pizza restaurant
Purezza Brighton is a plant-based pizzeria that opened in 2015 and has since expanded to other locations. It offers entirely vegan pizzas with sourdough bases and delicious vegan mozzarella. The restaurant also serves small plates for grazing throughout the day, featuring options like vegan meatballs, Caesar salad, and baked aubergine parmigiana. Even non-vegans have praised the quality of the pizzas and the undetectable vegan substitutes used in their dishes.
I went alone for dinner before a music gig and wow a lovely service and pizza. I had a black truffle pizza sourdough bread so lovely. I also ordered a dessert but was not charged for it. I tipped them £2 instead when paying. The whole menu is vegan which I love and lots of amazing choices to have. I'd definitely go again.

Bloooming delicious! Best pizza I’ve had in a long time - vegan or not vegan! Truffle dip was lovely and the cocktails! You can buy cheezes you wouldn’t find elsewhere and it’s all cashless so you can pay on Apple Pay which is super convenient! Staff were also lovely 🥰 would recommended and definitely visit again ❤️

This was a very efficient experience of the most delicious pizzas in the land, certainly from a gluten-free perspective! The wooden chairs can be a little bit uncomfortable to sit on after a while, so hope for the more comfortable bank seats if you're coming, but that doesn't detract from the experience and the smells which are delicious all around the place. It's hard to believe that everything on the menu is indeed vegan. We had to double-check and make sure because many of the items are referred to as almost meaty terms, but rest assured they are actively vegan. All in all, I would highly recommend coming here

This place is LOVELY. I was fathomed that the whole menu was plant based. My first time trying Tirumisu as well, and it was absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be coming back 100%

I used to order from the London branch near Wembley. I became obsessed with their truffle pizza. Honestly I’m so addicted to it and love it so much I’ve yet to have another kind of pizza. However I tried their tiramisu due to it being my birthday dinner recently and honestly it was just ok. Not bad. Probably could have done with more coffee and/or alcohol flavouring. But the pizza. Esp the truffle pizza! That’s beyond this world. I’ll be back… just not sure I can have anything else because the truffle is so good (even my non vegan mother thought it was a great dish!!)
Alysha B — Google review
Cannot fault the food here! I have been multiple times, and it has always been delicious. They have a well thought out menu, with pizza toppings that are spot on together and the base also very traditional. They use the finest ingredients; we had camembert and black truffle on ours! I would say the place was a little crampt, if you were in one of the booths or near the window I think it would have been a lovely place to sit, but the tables in the middle where we sat were very close to each other. Pros: Fancy pizza toppings, Delicious dessert Cons: A bit crampt in, Staff weren't that friendly

Restaurant
Plateau is a relaxed wine bar in Brighton that offers a unique selection of naturally produced wines and modern European sharing plates. The establishment prides itself on its diverse range of natural wines, with staff members who are knowledgeable and willing to explain the differences between organic and biodynamic options. The menu features "plateaux," which are generous sharing dishes with seasonal offerings, including vegetarian options like celeriac and apple beignets, cheeses, herb gnocchi, and flatbreads with dips.
Julian is an incredible mixologist. He’s elevated the art of cocktails to a whole new level. Loved the place, the ambience, the music and drinks. Highly recommended!!

Didn’t plan to shoot — just to sit and work. But then Plateau happened. A bluish-green facade with tiled charm pulled me in. Brick walls, a black mosaic bar, warm orange lighting from oversized lamps… the kind of space that quietly asks to be photographed. The ginger lady behind the bar welcomed me with a smile, and that set the tone — this place feels kind. Eventually, I closed the laptop and opened the lens. Couldn’t resist.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Plateau. We both went for the lamb rump – perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Shared the crispy potatoes with alioli, which were golden, crunchy, and seriously moreish. The hibiscus margarita was a standout – refreshing, slightly floral, and great to sip on. Lovely atmosphere, friendly service, and a relaxed but vibrant vibe.

Popped in for a quick drink as part of date night with my wife. Sat at the bar, which would have been my preferred choice regardless. My wife loved her espresso martini. I had an arty farty lemonade which was nice. The bread and olive oil with seeds in was absolutely amazing. As good as I’ve had, and I’ve been to Italy etc. Small, intimate establishment. We got lucky did advise booking a table and wouldn’t recommend it for a large party. Would certainly return.

French restaurant
Petit Pois Restaurant is a top choice for traditional French cuisine in Brighton. The intimate eatery offers a warm ambiance and serves upscale French dishes paired with fine wines. Located in the heart of The Brighton Lanes, this charming establishment provides a rustic interior and a homely atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to gather with family and friends.
My partner and I booked a dinner here for a date, and we were really glad we chose petit pois having not been before. The waiting staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. They didn’t hover over us, they allowed us to enjoy the meal whilst still being very attentive. The food was delicious, full of flavour and well presented. Everything tasted fresh, and was cooked to our liking. We were seated in front of the open kitchen, and it was lovely to see the Chef and other staff in their element, they were clearly very intentional with the flavours and presentation of the dishes.

25th April 2025 Ruminating over the last few weeks on restaurant options for a birthday meal, I experienced a curious phenomenon: for some reason, I didn’t feel like just going for a massive juicy steak. Whether or not opting for upscale French cuisine instead is a sign of irreversible progression towards middle age is something I want to spend less time thinking about, but that’s what I did. What sealed the deal in the end, aside from Petit Pois being new and a bit different to what I’d normally choose, was that my usual quick glance at the menu – long enough to gain an impression without ruining the fun of deciding what to eat while actually there – revealed a good half dozen or so listings I really wanted to try. With Mum, Dad and Elle joining us, it felt like a good way to do just that. Some average olives notwithstanding, that plan began phenomenally. Each of us went for a different entrée, and with my gentle encouragement Dad ordered 12 snails instead of six, and Mum six oysters instead of three. Completing the line-up were scallops, cod fritters in a worryingly-named ‘sauce chien’, and my French onion soup. Without everyone literally trying everything else there was still a lot of swapping and sharing, and the consensus seemed to be that the fritters – crispy on the outside, salty on the inside, with the sauce a sort of fiery chimichurri – came out on top. Dad’s garlic sauce was also very popular, and we ordered bread later to mop it up, but the snails themselves were a bit piddly. I really enjoyed my soup, but found myself trying to offload the giant cheesy ‘croutons’ – a meal in themselves – mostly because I didn’t want to fill up too quickly. I didn’t try any scallop but reviews were good; I’ve had better oysters more than once in Brighton. Between us, we also managed to sample the halibut fillet, the blood orange duck breast, the cassoulet and the wild mushroom crêpes. There was a lot going on. Strangely the duck was the only thing that came out as a full course, with dauphinois, kale and beautiful blobs of beetroot purée; the cassoulet in particular could have done with a bit of veg but we were all fighting over the one side of delicious sautéed greens we ordered (except Elle, who thought they tasted of mussels). Highlights were the duck itself, high quality and cooked to perfection (although the orange was very much front and centre), and the halibut (although the subtleties of the shellfish velouté were lost on my palette by that stage). The crêpes were the least celebrated: nice enough flavours but heavy and lacking in variety well before the end of the unnecessary second. Thankfully, it was only after all of that I realised the wall to my back was a ginormous blackboard charcuterie menu, because I would definitely have regrettably tried to squeeze in a few slices of jambon here and a gourmet fromage or two there. As it was, we shared the trio of unfortunate crèmes brûlées instead. I’m not an expert, but the layer of sugar was “too toffee apple” for those round the table in the know – for me the coffee one just didn’t taste very nice and so I left it there. Overall, it did feel that Petit Pois managed to disprove that old rule of thumb that the fewer options on a menu – the more a place specialises – the better, but in hindsight perhaps the fact that there’s nothing I’d definitely re-order if I went back contradicts that sentiment. Really good, solid food all-round, bordering on the spectacular in moments without ever quite crossing over, and a nice wine list, too. I would go back though. I’m just glad Petit Pois is in Brighton, as I’m not sure I could handle the look of disdain I’d get ordering just the roast garlic mash and a block of soft goat’s cheese if I was actually in France.

We came here for my 30th birthday meal down from London and we were not disappointed! Having been once in 2021, standards were absolutely maintained. We had a glass of champagne on arrival, and then the calamari for starters. After some excellent wine advice from Charlie, we moved to red wine and had the beef and duck for mains which were so tasty and great portion sizes. Creme brulé and a birthday truffle and candle for dinner. Thank you so much for making my birthday meal so special!!

Made the most of the sunshine with a quick trip to Brighton. The spot I’d planned on going was booked out for a private event, so ended up finding a nearby French bistro, *Petit Pois* — and what a find. Saw they had a cheese board on the dessert menu, and that alone was a good sign. Everything was spot on: classic flavours, generous portions, no unnecessary faff. Two courses for £22.50 — absolute bargain. Starter-wise, the chilled pea soup was a summer dream — silky, fresh, with crunchy peas and toasted pine nuts. Delicious. The smoked mackerel pâté was rich and moreish too, just needed more of that lovely sourdough it came with. For mains, I had the skate wing — usually bony, but somehow pan-fried to tender perfection, crispy edges and all. Rich with buttery flavour, balanced with a sharp caper sauce. The roast pork belly (from the à la carte) came in a huge portion. The meat was soft and loose, and the crackling? Out of this world — salty, crisp, proper satisfying. Best surprise was another piece of crackling on top of the tasty garlic mash. Dessert didn’t disappoint either — crème brûlée came in three unexpected flavours: vanilla, cinnamon, and prune. Each one textbook-perfect. Left properly chuffed.

My husband and I were visiting Brighton for a couple of days, so I searched for good places to eat before we arrived. Petit Pois came up online, and after looking at their menu, I booked. We weren't disappointed in any way. The resturaunt was lovely, the staff very helpful and friendly. Our food was wonderful - we both had Crispy Squid starter, My husband Toulouse Sausage and I had Mushroom Crepes, then we both had the Trio of Cremes Brulees with Madeleines. We drank wine with our meal and finished off with a liqueur coffee. We'll be visiting again next time we're in Brighton!

My wife and I have not been to Brighton for several years, and had not eaten at Petit Pois before tonight. We were very impressed! The escargot were outstanding, but the seabass with pearl barley was a real treat. Our fellow diners had the duck, and loved it This restaurant is a real underrated gem. Booking is essential abd I guess that sums up its popularity and quality of food. All the staff were superbly friendly and helpful, with a special mention to Charlie, our waiter. Honestly, Petit Pois is a hidden culinary delight!
Chris S — Google review
On my first night and upon arrival in Brighton and checking into my hotel, did have a look around on Google Maps to see what places were around. I found Petit Pois and headed out there, where I had a delicious cassoulet. Having really enjoyed this cassoulet, and I liked the look of other stuff on the menu, on the following day I headed out back to Petit Pois for dinner. Despite it being a Monday evening, it was busy, but I was able to get a table. Inside is a French style bistro, lots of wooden tables and chairs. There is an air of informality about the place, also an eclectic decoration on the walls. They had a really interesting looking menu and it was quite challenging to work out what to have. The previous evening I was stuck between the Bouillabaisse and the cassoulet. That time I had gone with the cassoulet, this time I went with the Bouillabaisse. This was described on the menu as bouillabaisse of local fish & shellfish, squid, prawn, potato, samphire, rouille, grilled bread. I have to say I was impressed when the dish arrived, it looked fantastic. The bowl was brimming with shellfish and fish. There was grilled fish portions, prawn, scallop, squid, clams and mussels. You couldn’t have really asked for any more fish in that bowl. All the fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious, full of flavour. I loved the addition of the samphire and this really added to the flavours and texture of the dish. I could have done with more bread, though most meals I could do with more bread. Having finished the bowl of tasty seafood, I was left wanting more. I made the decision it might be a little greedy to order a second bowl. As with my previous visit, the service was warm, friendly and efficient. Overall a lovely experience.

Mange Tout is a popular French-run eatery in Brighton, offering Gallic classics and daily specials from breakfast to dinner. This charming independent brunch spot serves popular dishes like eggs Florentine and salmon omelettes, along with homemade juices and locally-sourced coffee. The bistro's commitment to sustainability and product quality, combined with attentive service, has made it one of Brighton's prime breakfast spots.
The best eggs Royal I've ever had! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise was a real, proper one (I've been served too many cheap mass made nasty ones before) and a generous serving of smoked salmon. I think the thick slices of sourdough bread was better than a traditional English muffin, and went better for taste and texture. Seasoned beautifully and finished with herbs. Purr pleasure on a plate! That aside, the staff are absolutely lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for such a wonderful start to our trip into Brighton.

I especially appreciate how Nostos celebrates Greek culture—not only through its food but also through community events and its genuine hospitality. Whether you’re a local or visiting Brighton, Nostos is an absolute must. Come hungry, leave happy, and probably dancing if it’s one of their themed nights!

Visited Nostos for lunch and wasn't disappointed. It's a nice little restaurant very light and airy. The person serving us was very friendly. They had a small kids menu which was nice as we wouldn't have been able to eat here if they didn't. The food was great & we all enjoyed our dishes. Between us we ordered: Meatballs and chips (from the kids menu) Taztiki and bread Giaourtlou (meatballs in a tomato sauce with a yoghurt on bread) - starter Back to the (Beet) root salad Pork Suvlucky (Souvlaki) As previously mentioned all the food was really tasty and the little one polished his off too. It all tasted fresh and left us full up but not in a gross was that you sometimes experience. I Would recommend this restaurant and I imagine it's a really nice atmosphere in the evening.

Nestled right on the water, Brighton Shellfish & Oyster Bar is a charming beachside shack that captures the essence of traditional British seaside dining. Great for all types of seafood. The whelks were massive and tasty. We asked for them to be cut up as they were so big which they did for us. Marinated octopus was also good. This cozy oyster bar is definitely a hidden gem in Brighton, located right by the beach. It has limited seating, but all the spots offer beautiful sea views, making it a very relaxing place to enjoy a meal! I ordered oysters, crayfish, and dressed crab, and everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. I loved the crayfish so much that I ordered another serving. They offer seafood in three different portion sizes—small, medium, and large—which is very thoughtful. The female owner was also nice and friendly, reminding us to watch out for the "pirates" while dining! Overall, a fantastic trip experience by the beach during the weekend:)

I had the pleasure of dining at a seaside kiosk and tried their famous crab and lobster rolls. I have to say, they were both incredibly fresh and delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the ingredients were top-notch. The crab meat was sweet and juicy, while the lobster was succulent and full of flavor. The rolls themselves were soft and perfectly toasted, adding a nice crunch to each bite. What really made this dining experience special, however, was the stunning sea view. The kiosk is situated right by the water's edge and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the ocean. It was truly unforgettable, and made the meal even more enjoyable.

Had the nicest Jersey Oysters - reasonably priced - sitting by the beach. This place offers great variety of seafood including cockles, whelks, shrimp and anchovies - all you can wish when visiting the seaside. Beware of the massive seagulls! Can be very nasty - had one coming out of nowhere in the sky, knocking my head and diving into my cockles pot!
Ernesto S — Google review
Right on the beach, it is as simple and as perfect as it gets. Fresh oysters, prawns, and seafood served straight to you with the sea as your backdrop. Grab a plate, sit on the pebbles, and let the view do the rest. It’s the kind of spot where the salt air makes everything taste even better. Just one word of advice: guard your food. The seagulls in Brighton are fearless, and they know exactly where the best oysters are being served. No frills, no fuss, just seaside seafood.
Christina M — Google review
Very fresh oysters, delicious shrimp and octopus as snacks. Do not take rapanas, they are hard and poorly washed. Fast and pleasant service. very democratic prices)) The tables stand right on the pebbles of the beach, which at the same time is simple and with a beautiful view. The only thing is that there is no cover, probably not very pleasant when it rains or is hot.

This little beachfront kiosk, has a lot to offer in the way of fresh local seafood. Additionally, a little kiosk also sells other seafood, but this has been imported, and some of it are no so real seafood, just looking like that. The food is very picturesque and they have great seating by the water. I wish they more catch of the day style stuffs

For a few days we came from London to this beautiful seaside town of Brighton. My daughter took us along the paths of her role model Zoe, who lives in this place. We sat on the beach, had oysters at the beach oyster bar and enjoyed the sun. Oysters of all ages and at a moderate price.

Italian restaurant
Fatto a Mano Hove is a popular eatery known for its airy and casual ambiance, offering wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas with creative toppings, along with salads and wine. The restaurant caters to vegan diners with delectable options like the fatto vegan nduja pizza and classic marinara. With locations across Brighton and Hove, including Hove on Church Road, each venue exudes a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Excellent pizza, lot of choice for kids and adults! Red or White base with only good ingredients! The crust is fluffy and light, the taste is exceptional, you wont leave a simple part in your plate.

The perfect spot that makes you feel as though you could be in a restaurant in Italy - especially if you can grab a table outside on a sunny day for a bit of people watching. My all time favourite pizza - no where else compares. Friendly staff, good service and great food. Always take friends and family here when they come to visit. Would highly recommend.

Had a fabulous lunch here. The pizza was amazing. The whole family loved it all. The manager was a ball of energy and made us all feel very welcome. 100% recommend if you want pizza in Brighton.
Mark T — Google review
Thr pizza was good but a bit to long in the oven. It was black at some parts, and for that I think the price is quite high. But the service was good and friendly and we got our food after 7-8min. Fresh and fast
Lina - — Google review
I found the experience fairly disappointing. The atmosphere was an issue for us. The music was very loud (and not well-selected), and it generally felt quite chaotic. There were too many tables packed into a small space, so you’re elbow to elbow with other customers; me and my partner could barely hear each other speaking. The pizza itself was good, the beer was excellent and the staff were overall very nice, but the loud music and squeezed space means I would look for a different restaurant next time.
Lauren H — Google review
Been there last weekend . All the pizza we ordered came with undercooked dough. I had slightly bigger expectations. The staff and location were great, though. I had a better experience at the franchise on North Lane. Probably will help a better flour, as ingredients been spot on .

Tommaso genuinely made my night. He was welcoming, kind, witty and authentic. He made the entire experience so enjoyable, it felt like I was truly in Italy! He makes it worth visiting this restaurant 100%, I couldn’t ask for more!

Mowgli Street Food has expanded from Manchester to Brighton, offering a fresh take on Indian home cooking. The founder, Nisha, is a renowned food writer and chef. The restaurant's casual dining atmosphere complements its healthy and flavorful dishes like ginger chicken and tea-steeped chickpeas. Guests rave about the vibrant decor, friendly service, and creative cocktails such as the chai rum sling.
India street food tapas style gets a 5 star review! Best dishes where sticky chicken and money wrap, and lamb curry. The team were very hospitable and there was some good options for kids that were not spicy 🌶️
Hyper C — Google review
Firstly, the staff were great. Clearly making an effort to welcome customers with a smile and remain attentive despite our visit being on a very busy Friday night. They must be exhausted at the end of their shifts. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated with fairy lights and has it's own identity which I appreciate. I didn't try them but the swing seats are a nice novelty. It was very loud with the sound of lots of customers so don't expect a quiet relaxed meal on a weekend evening. The food itself is a mixed bag and quite pricey for the portion size. I loved the yoghurt chat bombs which were full of flavours and they paired really well with chip butty was lovely and spicy. The two curries were less impressive - the ginger chicken and korma style curry were quite thin and stew like and I didn't like the slightly gritty texture. I expect they bubble away in big pots all evening. The cocktails were also disappointing, they tasted just like weak fruit juice. All things considered I probably won't return; for the price I don't think it's great value for money but has lots of positives which will appeal to others.

I visited early on a Tuesday evening (6:30pm) after a bank holiday weekend. I did book the table an hour or so earlier but think I’d have been okay just to walk in. Mowgli looks stunning when you walk in. Yellow LEDs litter the restaurant creating a calm atmosphere. I was offered a swing seat or standard but opted for the standard. While the swing seats look great for Instagram I suspect they’re not very practical for dining! I was served by Maddie who was excellent. Very attentive, and helpful with advice when I asked for recommendations. I opted for the Yoghurt Chat Bombs for starter and Aunty Geeta’s Prawn Curry for main. Also ordered the Mowgli Basmati Rice to accompany my main. The food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. I’d highly recommend visiting here if you’re in Brighton. I was in and out in less than an hour which was perfect as a solo diner. Quick, but I didn’t feel rushed at all. Placed conveniently in walking distance from most of the sea front hotels as with all the restaurants around the lanes. Shame they didn’t have any draught beer but the bottle of Cobra I had was well chilled and a perfect addition to the meal.

Delicious, colourful food, lots to choose from and great service. We had 6 small plates between 2 of us, felt like a perfect amount of food - the chat bombs and the paneer curry were a highlight! The team were very attentive and friendly, thank you to Holly for great service! Can’t wait to visit again.

We had a really lovely meal here today. The staff were friendly and attentive. The mood, lighting and decor is great. We thought the food was really good, very flavoursome. We had the yoghurt chat bombs for starters and they were delish. The set menu was a great choice as we got to taste a few different things. We definitely recommend this place 👌

First time today here…..the food and staff were amazing. From the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out, we felt like true customers….They explained everything and nothing was too much trouble….been to some other restaurants in the area and the staff and food in the Mowgli is the best ….we loved it all Full marks to the amazing happy Holly W….she is a true delight and a true inspiration to your company….do not let go of her! I came to Mowgli for my 60th birthday celebration with a family group. The service was faultless, staff could not have made us feel any more welcome and they helped to make my evening extra special. The food was also fantastic, so full of flavour and so much of it! All dietary options were catered for and, as a vegan, I had plenty of choice. Thank you to all the staff for such a brilliant evening. We will definitely be back.

Had a great time at the restaurant. Atmosphere was lovely decor great perfect for families, couples and kids as well. Staff were great hospitable and friendly The mango and watermelon salad was great also a must try. However the curry's werw a big let down The butter chicken, paneer and prawn curry all had the same tomatoe base. We ordered 3 different curry's and they all tasted exactly the same. The sticky chicken was also very dry and not flavoursome which was disappointing. The portions are quite small. Overall had a good dinging experience but the food compared to other Indian street food didnt live upto expectation.

Dishoom Permit Room is a cozy and independent hideout located on Brightons East Street, nestled among the charming pubs and vintage stores of The Lanes. The establishment exudes the homely aroma of curried dishes cooking in the kitchen and offers familiar menus that reflect its connection to Dishoom. Inspired by the permit rooms of 1960s and 1970s Bombay, Permit Room pays homage to these post-prohibition spaces that served both alcohol and homely plates.
Really busy which is always a good sign but we did book a table. Great service and super helpful waitress. Food was very tasty and plentiful. Great value and would definitely come back again

After all the hype and glowing reviews thought we would try Dishoom for a evening meal . Loved the warm welcome by staff and the ambiance was great very inviting. Very busy Thursday night , so always book . Got advice from waitress about what was hot and mild really helpful. Food was great , full of flavour and freshly made . Sadly the table was at the front of restaurant and not enough space , being knocked by everyone, glad we left dog at home not sure where she would have gone . Overall £75 for 1 starter , 2 curry’s 2 rice and 2 beers was on the high side . Didn’t like the mandatory 12% service charge for the 2 of us ! Rude ! But would still recommend it .

👑 An Absolute Gem: Authentic Tea and Incredible Fusion in Brighton! 👑 I recently celebrated a friend's birthday in Brighton and had the pleasure of dining at a venue that left a lasting impression. Having heard great things from my friend who visited earlier, my expectations were high, and this place truly delivered on every single count. What immediately stood out was the tea. It tasted exactly like the authentic, rich brew we used to enjoy back home. It was comforting and perfectly spiced—a genuine taste of nostalgia that’s often impossible to find. We indulged in the Maskaa Chai and a regular tea alongside our breakfast, and both were spot-on. The brilliance of this place lies in its concept of fusion food and drink. It's a fantastic blend of old-school comfort and modern culinary creativity, especially in the street food section. The Keema Pau we had for breakfast was incredible, but the chaats were truly spectacular! The Aloo Tikki Chaat had an explosion of flavor—the spiced potato patties, the cool yogurt, and the sweet and tangy chutneys were just what a proper chaat should be. We also enjoyed the small and cute samosas and the Crispy Spinach Chaat, which had such a fantastic texture. Every item, from the breakfast to the chaats and the tea, was flawless; I honestly could not fault a thing. Beyond the incredible food and drink, the service was truly excellent. I must give a special shout-out to Mim, who provided outstanding service. Her attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism made our experience even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. I wholeheartedly loved the entire experience. If I find myself back in Brighton again, I will absolutely be here to enjoy the tea and all the other food, and I look forward to trying even more dishes next time. This establishment is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic flavors combined with a modern, welcoming atmosphere.

Flea & Street Markets
Brighton Open Market is a popular marketplace offering a variety of goods, including local produce, clothing, crafts, and delicious vegan treats. It's the city's only outdoor covered market and features over 40 unique stalls and traders. Visitors can support small local businesses while enjoying quality food and handcrafted products. The market also houses several cafes, artist studios, and quirky gift stalls. It's a great place to escape the tourist crowds and soak up the local atmosphere.
I used to go there a few times a week when I used to live nearby. Went there yesterday for the 1st time in years & I was very pleased to see that the atmosphere was still the same. Small shops, good cheese, fresh eggs, cheap books, nice coffee places & eateries, lovely community❤️
Cen D — Google review
It’s not a very big market but if you want to support local and small businesses, this is the place to come! It’s very lively during Christmastime and you can find a range of items from crafts to sauces to cheese to books. There are many fantastic stalls and on the top floor there’s some specialised shops as well. If you’re passing by, it’s definitely worth a short visit. You can also keep up with them on their social media to see which days there’s going to be Makers’ Markets (my personal favourite)
8 M — Google review
Came by late on a Monday around 5 pm, and unfortunately, most shops and stalls were closed. It seems like the market winds down early in the week. It might be a better idea to visit on busier days if you're looking for more options!

It's great that you can support the locals there! You can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, there is also a bakery and many other things such as sewing materials or antique furniture. I was surprised at how delicious the Samosa was at the little kiosk on the left. The best i had in my life, seriously. The whole place is not as big as I thought, but worth visiting when you are in this area.
Aleksandra Z — Google review
Quite interesting. Not very big, but I think it's worth a short visit. You can find interesting handicrafts and all kinds of more or less valuable antiques. Small shops of local producers. I drank a very good craft beer here. I don't think you need more than 40 minutes for a visit.
Paul C — Google review
I love the open market and despise it in equal amounts. A form of gentrification with out the benefits of investment is semi present, loaves of bread available if you re mortgage your home. Fruit and veg over priced. The bacon and cheese guy is cool, as is the egg man, and the Japanese/Vietnamese place. Wish it had somewhat of a traditional market and a bit less shonky craft stalls. If it opened on Sundays with all traders and shut a couple of days midweek, it would benefit shoppers and traders. Otherwise it feels too much like a lifestyle choice for rich kids.
Pete H — Google review
Lively place with good produce, excellent vibe and a variety of food options. Great place for meat, veggie lovers alike with ample options for vegan diet as well! The place is more compact than some of the markets in London, understandably so. But the quality of food etc is good!

Kitgum Kitchen is a casual and cozy neighborhood restaurant located on the northern edge of the city center in Brighton. The restaurant offers a unique fusion of East African and Gujarati cuisine, creating a truly distinctive dining experience. With minimalist-chic decor, warm personal service, and delicious food, it's definitely worth a visit.
How lovely to finally dine at Kitgum, after having tried their food at a local music festival last summer. It feels like the best bits of a local London neighbourhood restaurant - intimate, inviting, buzzing atmosphere, great cocktails. We got started with the cod roe puri (delicious) and a coconut rum cocktail (also wonderful). Food came out quickly so you’re never left yearning for more - very important in a small plates setting - although the portions are good. The daal was some of the best we’ve ever had - super flavoursome and well spiced. Tomatoes with coriander was sublime, beef shin curry silky and rich, and the fried chicken with spiced tomato yogurt…incredible. Wine was lovely too (I had a glass of the Gamay - perfectly matched with the food flavours), and then dessert was a delicious saffron kulfi. Service was friendly, unfussy, and welcoming. It was a shame they had ran out of their single malt whisky that was advertised with dessert - as that would have really been the icing on the cake, but all in all it was a really super meal and experience - and another in the (sadly) small handful of really elevated Brighton food spots.

What a place this is…proper little gem of Brighton. Fayaz the owner is a too bloke and very accommodating. Came here before a show at the Joker with friends and we all experienced the full menu and there was nothing we disliked. Massive thanks to the chefs for cooking for us and looking after us all night. 5 stars without a question and can’t wait to see you again in your new premises

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We managed to get a table on a Fri early evening and it filled up really quickly. The food was delicious, from the stuffed puri to the fried cauliflower ( in lightest of tempura batter), the corn ribs w delightful peanut curry sauce, the seabass over coals and scotch bonnet sour curry - superb. We soaked up that sauce with the onion and cumin rice. We topped it off with cardamom donut and saffron kulfi, another treat! The two pineapple rum cocktails and rose wine accompanied the food and made for a truly wonderful evening. Can't believe I haven't been before, but I WILL BE BACK....

Me and my friends had such a lovely meal at Kitgum. The whole experience felt thoughtful and warm — the owner was incredibly welcoming, gave us great recommendations, and brought out a perfect selection of dishes. Every plate was absolutely delicious, creative, and unlike food we’ve had elsewhere. The music and overall vibe were spot on — relaxed but full of character. It’s a beautiful, small independent business with a soul. Great for a chilled out evening with friends. Wishing them every success — they deserve it.

Wow, this is a really good spot. The flat white was as smooth as a new born baby’s head and the bacon and egg bun was soft and crispy, sweet and salty, well balanced with the caramelised onions and was literally all I could have asked for in a breakfast bun. I went in there with no expectations, and left with a massive dopamine hit from the flavours and textures in my mouth. Plus, the fact they do beer and cocktails as well as breakfast and coffee is just the cherry on top cause you feel like you’re not in the UK anymore and in fact your sat on the corner of a street somewhere in Vienna.

Best. Sandwich. Ever. As a sandwich lover the hunt for a quality sandwich is never ending, but I think I’ve finally found one. The charcuterie royal houses Curing Rebels cold cuts (local producer!), creamy kale pesto, and cheese, and my word was it good on some salty and fluffy focaccia. Filling and hearty, it was more than enough for lunch. The cafe itself is quirky and has a great decor and vibe both inside and out. It is now top of my list to go for dinner, with they offer as well as the lunch and breakfast stuff that a normal cafe does. Small plates and natural wine, I cannot think of a better way to spend my evening!

This was a perfect date day with the girls! I know I should rave about the wine (which was delicious and excellently paired by our server) but it was the food and margaritas that had me floored! Each small plate that came out made my mouth water. The radish with lovage emulsion and heritage tomato dishes balanced the decadent cured meats and fluffy focaccia. I couldn’t resist ordering a margarita as it’s my favourite drink - absolute perfection. Thank you for a great day out! X

The Regency Restaurant is a long-standing establishment located on the iconic seafront promenade in Brighton. Housed in a beautiful building that was once a palatial seafront home, it offers stunning views of the beach and pier. The restaurant is popular among locals, foodie tourists, and even celebrities. With its no-frills bistro style, it serves up locally caught seafood prepared in various ways, from battered to grilled or fried, accompanied by chips or salad.

The restaurant was packed but still managed to find a table for the 6 of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We all had fish and chips (£14.50) fish tasted nice, but portion sizes weren’t the same for everyone. Comes with chips only; mushy peas are an extra £1.95. Oysters were excellent and worth trying. Overall, a bit overpriced for me.
Cosmin T — Google review
The Regency is famed for its range of sea food dishes so alongside the fish and chips, we also had the garlic butter scallops. The fish and chips were fried to perfection, crispy fish and fluffy chips, the curry sauce had a nice spicy, sweetness to it. The Garlic Butter Scallops were very fresh, good portion and tasted delicious. My only criticism is that the portion sizes are quite small for the price, would appreciate a bigger fish and more chips for the price paid. That being said, Regency is very busy and it seems to be the place to go in Brighton for tourists, locals and celebrities. Take a look at the customers and you will see a range of nations enjoying their food, mixed in with the locals. Also take a walk to The Regency’s downstairs bathroom and you can see their wall of fame littered with famous faces from around the world, they really have had everybody pass through their doors, one patron that caught my eye was Hideo Kojima, yes, THAT Hideo Kojima, well, if it’s good enough for Kojima, it’s gets my vote.

Was recommended by locals for their fish and chips - and they do not disappoint! Flakey fresh cod, chunky chips and fresh garden peas. We also ordered their seafood pasta which was packed with flavour. Grilled prawns and scallops were fresh and portions were humongous (were asians so they are huge to us) Had their draft ales and were very quenching indeed. Had a wonderful meal and their staffs were ever attentive and always checked on us throughout dinner. Perfect start for dinner when visiting brighton.

In Brighton for a week with my students I chose this restaurant for the last evening meal. I booked a table for two by a window. As soon as you enter this place you are pleasantly overwhelmed by the smell of fish based dishes. I had a starter, a delicious fish soup and a main course that I shared with my colleague - The Mediterranean with hake, mussels, clams, scallops and King prawns. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this place in Brighton if you look for something different from fish and chips.

Had our celebration dinner after completing the London to Brighton ride 2025. The staff were wonderful and kindly let us lock our bikes within sight, right between the outdoor tables and the restaurant window. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a heartwarming, delicious meal while the rain came down outside—just what we needed before heading home

This place is a reach treat! I came in around 5 o clock and was seated immediately. I order the Brighton G&T as well as the extravaganza seafood platter. Everything was tasty, fresh and cooked really well. A little pricey but given the area, most things were pricey especially seafood of this kind of quality. Service was amazing, I was checked on frequently and received my food within 10 minutes of being seated. Seating is a little tight so when it got busy, everyone was a little closer on each other than I’d like. However, a great time was had. Outside seating is also available but if you come on a day when the weather isn’t favorable you might prefer a table inside. Giggling Squid in Brighton is a laid-back spot that specializes in Thai cuisine, particularly seafood dishes. This popular restaurant chain offers a wide range of well-prepared Thai favorites and is known for its stylish decor and attentive service. Founded by husband and wife team Andy and Pranee Laurillard, the unique name 'Giggling Squid' was inspired by one of their children.
Nice change from fish and chips at the seaside. Spice, flavour, and pepper. freshy made. I had the duck noodles, which was great. The portion size was a little on the smaller side for a noodle dish. Everyone else is dish was on the satisfying side, so I'm not going to reduce my score or quibble. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

I would give this restaurant three stars. While the service was very friendly and the restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance right in the heart of Brighton, which is a definite plus, the overall experience fell a bit short. The presentation of the food was appealing, but the taste seemed to lack something essential. For the price we paid, the quality didn’t quite match up, and there are tastier and more affordable options in the area.
Aredi 7 — Google review
We are Giggling regulars in SW London and had the same delicious food and efficient service experience here in Brighton. We had the lunch set/combo - was tasty and filling as always. Lovely location in the Lanes not far from the beach. Clean restrooms
Saurabh P — Google review
Presentation is lovely and service was great with fantastic attention to allergies. The food itself is best described as ‘safe’; it’s not particularly authentic or flavourful and there are stronger Thai restaurants around with better taste and texture. The caramelised pork was nice but a little tough and the skewers could have been smokier and more seared. The golden money bags may benefit from better seasoning and the texture was a little dry. My partner enjoyed the spring rolls and crispy chilli mushrooms. Nice overall but might not be worth the value - the ‘Nandos’ of Thai chains.

We celebrated a birthday here and had a great time. The atmosphere was perfect, food was amazing and the service was lovely. We had the papaya salad, red curry chicken and the lamb - all delicious.

Turkish restaurant
ETCI Kitchen Brighton is a stylish eatery that invites you to embark on a delightful culinary adventure through the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine. Established as a family business in Turkey back in 1997, this vibrant restaurant has made its mark by serving up mouthwatering dishes like Turkish pizza and kebabs, alongside an enticing selection of cocktails. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it perfect for gatherings with friends or family.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Ercan went above and beyond with his exceptional service, making us feel truly welcome. We went all out with the delicious, beautifully presented sharing platters. The portions were generous—perfect for our family. Highly recommended!

We had gone for my other half’s birthday! Was his first time trying Turkish food (half Turkish myself had to make him try). He had the most amazing time for his special day, big thank you to the staff that made it so special too! The food was just beautiful. Perfect in every way, we had shared bits around to get a taste of everything and it was cooked to perfection. They had bought a cake out at the end for his birthday which may I say was absolutely stunning. The staff were so attentive and friendly was just such a lovely evening. So big thank you guys <3 What we had… Feta Pide, Kofte, chicken shish and lamb ribs ^^these are highly recommended from us.

Great food that is mouth watering yet soft and tender. Packed full of flavour. Amazing and traditional. Service is rubbish and they need to know this. None of them serve with any love for their job and some ignore when called. Some don’t even know the names of the drinks they bring to us. Will we come again? Yes for sure. The food is too good.

Lovely staff, even for a Friday evening we barely waited for our food. Fun atmosphere and amazing cocktails. We shared the platter for 2-3 with 4 and had the hot mezze starter. Perfect!

"I think we were welcomed extremely well. On my wife's birthday, almost all of the employees worked hard to make us happy. Our meals were equally delicious, and they reminded us of the beauty of Turkish hospitality. Thank you for everything."

I have tried a lot of Turkish restaurants before but not every restaurant delivers this quality. The food is very tasty and the plate is very harmonious. We had Adana kebab and grilled kebab which were both perfectly cooked. The indoors are very good and the service too. It’s a definitely one of the places to try again.

Pub
Located in the heart of the Brighton Lanes, The Cricketers is a historic Victorian pub with an elegant upstairs bar named after author Graham Greene, who frequented this establishment. Dating back to 1547, it claims to be the oldest pub in Brighton and has a rich history, being mentioned in Greene's novel 'Brighton Rock.' The interior exudes traditional Victorian charm with plush scarlet banquettes, thick carpets, flock wallpaper, and an array of paintings.
We held our area meeting in the room above the pub. On arrival the room was all laid out ready with water and glasses. Excellent venue to hold a meeting. Big screen to hook your laptop up to. We also had lunch there and the food was fantastic. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish. We will definitely be returning again. Great venue. Thank you

We absolutely love The Cricketers! It’s our go-to spot whenever we are in Brighton for drinks. The atmosphere is always lively and full of energy, with a great crowd every time. We especially enjoy sitting outside, soaking up the buzz of the city, and relaxing with a drink after a day at the beach. It’s such a welcoming place, and we know we’ll keep coming back again and again.

We were in Brighton for the night and just stumbled upon this pub, and what a great find it was 🙂 Lovely good old fashioned British pub. Lovely seating with good beer and wine selection. We decided to eat and each had a roast and it was gorgeous. Can totally recommend a visit here and we’ll go back the next time we’re there.

What a fantastic night yesterday!! Incredible atmosphere at the Courtyard Bar with the live music band. They played all the rock/pop hits, including Oasis songs and finished with my favourite song ever, “Mr. Brightside”! ❤️I had the absolute time of my life. Beautiful music, completely rammed (especially on the 2nd set from midnight!) with a joyous and super friendly audience. So glad I stumbled in here!! Good beer, great audience and a super tight band. If you’re looking to dance on live music in Central Brighton, look no further!! 😎 🎸

We had booked the greene room for the 5/11. For around 30 quests.Rob and his team were incredible, special shout out too the lads behind the bar! We had ordered and paid for set B buffet menu, which everyone was so happy with the food. The venue was beautful & we are very happy of what a wonderful evening it was. Only thing I would say is there was a small communication error, but it was easily rectified with showing recepits. (If you prepay, please keep hold of your recepits, because as humans errors can happen!). Rob, and your team. Thank you for making the day special with your kindness and relaxed approach 🥰

The Black Lion is a cozy pub located near the seafront in Brighton, East Sussex. It offers a variety of live music nights and DJ sessions, making it a great spot for entertainment. The pub also serves an array of roast options including chicken with cranberry and bacon stuffing, beef sirloin, ox cheek, pork belly with crackling, lamb shoulder, mushroom wellingtons, and a guest roast of the week.
It’s been a while since my trip, but the memories are still vivid, so I wanted to leave a review. The batter of the fish and chips was truly a masterpiece — light and crisp beyond imagination. Even after some time, it didn’t get soggy, and the fish stayed juicy and perfectly intact. The beer was fantastic, and the service was very friendly. I’m grateful to have made such a happy memory on my first trip to Brighton. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the incredible roast today! We can honestly say it was the best roast we’ve had in a long time. The staff were so friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Really impressed at this casino. Spread over a few floors. It's exceptionally clean and tidy with a modern interior. There was a lot of staff about to help, every single member of staff were so friendly and helpful. They were always buzzing around tidying and cleaning. Having all the usual table games and slots along with a huge big screen tv and pool. It was good fun. Definitely will return next time I'm in the area. Had food as was really hungry. It tasted amazing. Really liked the garlic bread and cheese. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, really enjoyed my time here.

I’m willing to withdraw this star rating but I went there to play poker at about 12am and got to the door without my card to show I was a member and went up to the door telling them that and the girl at the door said we can’t take you. But if this is the case and someone has lost there card and came to the door how would they handle this? Look them up on database and see if they are a member? I assume so. Then after she said that the guy on the door said I had to many (drinks) at that point I said okay…. Because after how they acted it was clear they just didn’t want me there. I had 1k in pocket to play poker. But the thing that bothered me most is that I was refused entry from the girl at the counter without reason then the bouncer came up with a reason that wasn’t valid I had 2 pints all night. I understand defending your staff I wasn’t rude at all they clearly just didn’t want me there. I’m very offended I would like an explanation from the staff on the door that night or from management. Preferably from the staff (I know this won’t happen or they will lie and say I was slurring my words or something or I was rude) if that is the case and they do say that look at CCTV. Feel very discriminated against to be honest.

Went for a curry then thought maybe we would go to the casino was with all my family got refused entry said I had to much to drink Im a Muslim I don't drink. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the staff even the manager will never go back. Spoke to my solicitor there asking for the CCTV because the gambling commission are now involved.
Lewis C — Google review
Second visit to this casino. Last visit was 2 years ago, was shocked when we approached the roulette table to find that the price had doubled £2 for single chips and minimum bet £10 on colours. I know this isn't a huge sum of money but as someone who is not a big gambler it made me reluctant to put my hand in my pocket, knowing how quickly my budget would deplete. It meant my stay was much shorter than expected.

Lost all my money. There was a reason I don't visit this casino! Go elsewhere. Go to pier nine. You'll have more luck of winning some money back! Spent a whole £380 and maybe only hit a bonus 5 maybe 6 times throughout my while time playing ( 2.5hrs ) on average! And the most i won was probably anywhere between £10 and £30. Very poor returns! Other people around me though kept hitting a bonus very often, triple the times I did! and they probably didn't waste near enough to what I did. 1 lady who knows the owner started playing and instantly got 3, maybe 4 bonuses in a row! It's not based on luck. It's who you know!!!!! I think their machines are rigged! Do not go here!
Luke J — Google review
It was an enjoyable evening however the organisation and standard in the card room was appalling. No level clock on display, unable to display any live champions league football on the TVs despite being on multiple screens upstairs, players correcting organiser announcing incorrect blinds etc. Additionally there were no casino dealers just player dealt. The serving staff were great and so were the other players, just a shame such a large venue is being under-utilised.
Franklin B — Google review
This is a great venue to enjoy a flutter - OK not the largest amount of tables compared to the size of the building but that suits me fine. Staff on the tables are always friendly and chatty. Complimentary soft drinks are always welcome too. And a nice view out over the seafront at the back too. A welcome change from the often overcrowded city centre dives out there.
Mark G — Google review
The food at the casino is incredible, highly recommend just for the resturant even if casinos don't interest you.

Popped in for a spin on roulette. Grabbed a soft drink at the bar, got some chips ready to play. Had a nice chat with the other couple on the table. Game attendant very helpful. Bogs very clean!
Oliver C — Google review
Whilst this review is overall negative it will be a shame that the casino is closing but I was made aware that they were looking at a new premise to move to, as the marina's rent was become economically unviable. It may also be due to the Marina possibly wanting to continue with the plan to built hundreds more flats in that area. I feel let down that the closure of the casino was not relayed to customers before the fact as it would have been nice to come and have a final gamble. I would imagine this was nothing to do with the staff at the venue as they probably only found out Sunday night. I would imagine the managers knew but Met Casinos made them keep this to themselves. I feel it is disrespectful to have not told customers before the fact but again I would imagine this is just how Met Casino's operate. I only heard about the potential move from a friend who is a gambler there with a much higher status than myself who was told by the managers. This is pretty much the only casino I go to as parking is easy and free. Any of the casinos in Brighton are a pain to get to and parking costs a fortune, not to mention you get most of the clubbers filling the place come closing time. The casino itself was good and had a good variety of games and slots. The side bets on the tables had some of the highest pay-outs of any casino I have been to. All the staff were great and really friendly and always had a good talk with them. Now the negatives. I have seen this place go massively downhill over the last few years, mainly during covid and when Met Casinos took over from Caesars Entertainment. I have slowly felt Met casinos turn this place into a profit driven business in all areas not just the gambling. They have reduced bonus offers for players and rewards for gambling there. As recently as Feb they changed the rewards system to allegedly give you better return on rewards but they also raised the amount of points required to get you to the next level. Not to mention the fact they split the levels into multiple stages whilst also reducing the rewards for reaching the next tier by a significant amount. They closed the restaurant multiple times over the last years. The old restaurant use to have a lovely menu which had something for everyone and wasn't stupid money as it was subsidized by the gambling side of things as a draw to get customers in. They then proceeded to close and only offer the players menu for a while. Then reopen offering a small plates menu which was expensive and "pretentious" being the best word to describe it. No actual meals to be had just multiple small plates priced at the cost of a meal. The restaurant lasted a few months and then closed again as predicted going back to the players menu until it closed. They also replaced all the tables in the restaurant with the poker tables this wasn't a bad thing as it made the space feel used and not just an empty void. The tables themselves are normally good however you do have some bad nights were you get no play for your money but this is gambling so I totally get that. However the slots have consistently worse over the last few years. You used to get a decent payback before but now you'd be lucky to get a £50 bonus on a £5 bet. As mentioned I have had many good nights here over the last 8 or so years I have been coming. However I have felt that this was always coming as Met Casinos became greedy and drained the place. Gamblers in the south are very different to that of the players in London or the north which I don't think they took into account. When Met casinos first took over they were very generous with their rewards and made you feel valued but I would imagine this was just a ploy to keep your business. I really do hope they find a new venue as it would be horrible to think that all the staff are out of a job. I wish them all the best and hopefully they can be moved about or find a job at one of the other casinos in Brighton.
James M — Google review
Had an amazing night at the Casino at the weekend. The restaurant food was excellent. We ordered basically all the small plates and thoroughly enjoyed them all. In particular, sticky pork belly, mac and cheese, and truffle chips. All the pit bosses and dealers/croupiers were friendly and helped make our evening fun. Will defiantly revisit.
